- 0:05Speaker 1: Hey, this is Annie and Samantha don from stuff I've
- 0:07Speaker 1: never told your prediction of by her radio.
- 0:18Speaker 2: And welcome to Yes, we're back, still doing Second in
- 0:21Speaker 2: the City watch times because Annie's never seen them, and
- 0:25Speaker 2: I'm making her watch it, and we're slowly, by god,
- 0:29Speaker 2: very slowly making our way through this episodes. We are
- 0:34Speaker 2: currently on season three, episode fifteen. But before we start
- 0:39Speaker 2: all of that, this is a happy hour episode with that.
- 0:43Speaker 2: If you're doing happy hour things, do so responsibly. None
- 0:48Speaker 2: of the things we're talking about are currently sponsored, which
- 0:51Speaker 2: is a shame. It's the dame shame.
- 0:53Speaker 3: It really is.
- 0:56Speaker 2: Missing out. Anyway, Annie, are you doing happy hour things?
- 1:01Speaker 3: I am.
- 1:02Speaker 1: We are entering spring officially, as you can hear in
- 1:06Speaker 1: Samantha's voice. Perhaps all right, So I have a a
- 1:10Speaker 1: friend left this beer in my refrigerator. But it is
- 1:14Speaker 1: a Spring Belgium ale and that I've never tried.
- 1:18Speaker 3: So we'll see if I like it.
- 1:20Speaker 2: Give us a taste, tell us about it.
- 1:24Speaker 1: Yeah, it's lovely, it's nice and bright, it's not too bitter,
- 1:28Speaker 1: and it's got a bit of a orange orange tang
- 1:33Speaker 1: to it.
- 1:34Speaker 2: Okay, call it an alligash ish love. Mm hm, that's well,
- 1:39Speaker 2: I am drinking bubble water because yes, you can hear
- 1:42Speaker 2: my voice being rough. I also have a throat soothing
- 1:45Speaker 2: drop in my mouth hopefully won't clink clink about. Yes,
- 1:49Speaker 2: I know, very professional, but behind the curtain was like,
- 1:52Speaker 2: I am, I sound much better today than I did
- 1:55Speaker 2: a week ago, but I still sound rough. So and
- 1:58Speaker 2: Christina has been quite diligently making us sound less gross.
- 2:02Speaker 2: We love you, thank you.
- 2:04Speaker 3: Yes, she's the best.
- 2:06Speaker 2: So before we start, yes, we said, we are in
- 2:09Speaker 2: season three, episode fifteen, and as we do, Annie, as
- 2:14Speaker 2: we do, can you give us a recap of where
- 2:16Speaker 2: we have been and where we are currently in our
- 2:20Speaker 2: Sex and the City adventure.
- 2:22Speaker 3: Okay, okay, So right now, we've got Carrie.
- 2:31Speaker 1: Was broken up with by Aiden after she told him
- 2:34Speaker 1: she had had an affair with Big. And we've got
- 2:40Speaker 1: Miranda trying to find a fellow and then just running
- 2:45Speaker 1: into all kinds of obstacles as I always say, fellow, Yeah,
- 2:51Speaker 1: a fellow, Samantha, indeed, a fellow, a fellow. And then
- 2:57Speaker 1: we've got Samantha, as I always say, doing her Samantha snanigans,
- 3:00Speaker 1: which in the last episode included befriending and then getting
- 3:06Speaker 1: kicked out.
- 3:07Speaker 3: Of Hugh Efner's place. Yep, so which was it.
- 3:12Speaker 1: By the way, they were in LA in the last episode,
- 3:15Speaker 1: and that was kind of the main theme is that
- 3:17Speaker 1: LA is fake. And also, yes, Carrie was tricked by
- 3:23Speaker 1: Vince Vaughan that he was like a property owner and
- 3:27Speaker 1: really had a lot of money, and it turns out
- 3:29Speaker 1: he was Carrie Fisher's assistant and had been lying to
- 3:34Speaker 1: Carrie Bradshaw the whole time.
- 3:36Speaker 2: The whole time.
- 3:37Speaker 1: Yes, and then Charlotte just got married to Trey. He's
- 3:43Speaker 1: having an impotence issue. She seemed to already be having
- 3:47Speaker 1: doubts and like met up with them in LA and
- 3:51Speaker 1: was talking it up with a dude and then freaked
- 3:54Speaker 1: out and was like, actually, I'm married. So she's dealing
- 3:59Speaker 1: with some things. But in the last episode ended with
- 4:02Speaker 1: them returning to New York to their home and kind
- 4:07Speaker 1: of being judgmental about how fake LA was.
- 4:12Speaker 2: Yes, yeah, they have a lot of New York City
- 4:15Speaker 2: supremacy in that last episode. I think probably the entirety
- 4:20Speaker 2: of of all of Sex in the City.
- 4:23Speaker 3: Well, the city is kind of a character.
- 4:25Speaker 2: The city is the character, that is what it is.
- 4:29Speaker 2: So I wonder if we have any pay people from
- 4:31Speaker 2: LA who have who have thoughts, I'd let us know,
- 4:34Speaker 2: let us know. I will say I do list of
- 4:36Speaker 2: New York though, and right now New York City has
- 4:39Speaker 2: my heart. When Donnie's doing some things, I wonder what
- 4:42Speaker 2: Sex and the City would do about mo'm Donnie. Actually
- 4:47Speaker 2: they may have an episode they did do and just
- 4:49Speaker 2: like that which has ended anyway up to So that
- 4:53Speaker 2: does bring us back. Great great uh summary, Thank you
- 4:57Speaker 2: Annie for that. Our current episode is titled Hot Child
- 5:02Speaker 2: in the City and it does have a guest star
- 5:06Speaker 2: that you may or may not recognize in this one.
- 5:09Speaker 2: So but with that, do you have predictions about what
- 5:12Speaker 2: this episode is about?
- 5:14Speaker 3: Hot Child in the City. Hmm.
- 5:20Speaker 1: See, I've had to learn this lesson several times. It's
- 5:23Speaker 1: usually pretty literal. So so there's a child, there's a
- 5:33Speaker 1: child involved. I don't know how or why, but there's
- 5:39Speaker 1: a child.
- 5:44Speaker 3: Who wants to be hot.
- 5:47Speaker 1: Oh no, and maybe like reflections on because it's usually
- 5:53Speaker 1: sex in the City and now we're talking about hot
- 5:54Speaker 1: Child in the City, so you're looking back at like
- 5:57Speaker 1: your adolescence and what that felt.
- 6:01Speaker 2: And then they go to brunch, and then they go
- 6:04Speaker 2: to brunch.
- 6:05Speaker 3: I have no idea. Honestly, go, this is.
- 6:08Speaker 2: A fifty to fifty chance here, you're gonna do one
- 6:11Speaker 2: hundred and fifty years zero that.
- 6:15Speaker 3: Yeah, I don't think i'm gonna. I don't think i'm gonna.
- 6:17Speaker 3: I think it's gonna be a zero, all.
- 6:20Speaker 2: Right, all right, right, well then let get into it.
- 6:38Speaker 4: After firing her last two publicists, Jenny Brier, the daughter
- 6:42Speaker 4: of a wealthy New York restaurant ur, had decided that
- 6:45Speaker 4: Samantha would be taking over the pr for her upcoming party.
- 6:49Speaker 5: I won't been any fair Carson daily people teen people.
- 6:55Speaker 6: She looks familiar, but now Dinings, Oh, I'm a thor
- 7:00Speaker 6: and all the other Wow, you're.
- 7:03Speaker 2: Thirteen years old? H what are you like?
- 7:06Speaker 5: Forty five?
- 7:07Speaker 2: And just like that the meeting, I'm older than age.
- 7:12Speaker 3: Kids can be so mean about stuff like that. They are.
- 7:15Speaker 5: My father has invited over three hundred of his most
- 7:17Speaker 5: powerful friends of this event. They're not all coming. The
- 7:20Speaker 5: Clintons can't make it, of course, But like I told Daddy,
- 7:23Speaker 5: we'll be lucky if we can swing this for under
- 7:24Speaker 5: our mill. But what do I know?
- 7:27Speaker 3: Under the mill.
- 7:30Speaker 1: Three hundred people came to my Batman's but I'd be
- 7:33Speaker 1: so uncomfortable of my dad in general.
- 7:37Speaker 6: Thank you. Ah, yeah, see, I thought you looked familiar.
- 7:47Speaker 2: Do you ever think about writing comics? Aren't the comics
- 7:49Speaker 2: more of a boy thing?
- 7:50Speaker 3: Oh?
- 7:52Speaker 2: No, immediately, aren't the comics boy thing?
- 7:55Speaker 4: I know?
- 7:57Speaker 3: Those two boys are staring at her like.
- 8:06Speaker 6: I amid.
- 8:09Speaker 4: I never did get my shoes fixed, but the following
- 8:12Speaker 4: week I did get a new pair of boots. I
- 8:17Speaker 4: don't know what came over me, but I suddenly felt
- 8:19Speaker 4: compelled to call and thank him. Even as a superhero,
- 8:23Speaker 4: I was powerless to resist.
- 8:25Speaker 2: That is, committed to hit on a woman by finding
- 8:29Speaker 2: her address, her PO box and drawing a drawing based
- 8:33Speaker 2: on her with the number that did a week in
- 8:37Speaker 2: two weeks.
- 8:38Speaker 3: Maybe, yeah, that's a real risk.
- 8:47Speaker 4: That evening, inspired by Miranda's digital diagnosis, Charlotte went surfing
- 8:52Speaker 4: for a cure for Trey's condition. There it was, in
- 8:57Speaker 4: both the on and off positions, eight thousand dollars worth
- 9:01Speaker 4: of hydraulics that could turn Tray into the bionic Man. Ordinarily,
- 9:05Speaker 4: this was the kind of thing Charlotte would shy away from,
- 9:08Speaker 4: but since her marriage was ChIL.
- 9:09Speaker 2: Wood, so after the discovering that you could do symptoms.
- 9:15Speaker 2: Charlotte's now chinying to see what's wrong with her. Man
- 9:17Speaker 2: areckt ou dysfunction with solutions that did not look comfortable.
- 9:24Speaker 3: It looked really intense.
- 9:29Speaker 4: I can't believe his place.
- 9:34Speaker 2: It's like ten bucks a game, but you know games
- 9:37Speaker 2: come with beer.
- 9:38Speaker 4: Yeah, that's because they want you to play half as
- 9:39Speaker 4: well and twice as much.
- 9:41Speaker 2: Sounds good to me.
- 9:42Speaker 1: I'm intrigued by his casting because normally, you know, like
- 9:45Speaker 1: a comic book guy who takes you to the arcade
- 9:47Speaker 1: would be very nerdy, and he's very like got his
- 9:50Speaker 1: biceps out, you know, yeah.
- 9:53Speaker 2: Yeah, but he got speed racer shirto yes with.
- 9:57Speaker 1: All thelets again that all nerds are like there aren't
- 10:03Speaker 1: nerds that look like that, But it's just interesting to me.
- 10:06Speaker 2: Ah, they're fighting as a stereotype. Not all of them,
- 10:09Speaker 2: but some of them.
- 10:17Speaker 5: It was maddening Bram.
- 10:20Speaker 2: She's reading about the rectile dysfunction hiding.
- 10:25Speaker 4: Was patented on off switch had Charlotte thinking about trays.
- 10:29Speaker 1: She has the like sheet in a book she's reading,
- 10:33Speaker 1: and it's so obvious that it's not the same size
- 10:36Speaker 1: as the book.
- 10:37Speaker 2: I also love that it is in color. Rank oh,
- 10:43Speaker 2: Charlotte trying to figure out her media. Oh, she's going
- 10:46Speaker 2: to show it you. I found this on the internet.
- 10:51Speaker 3: That's also a bold moon. I don't know, earth, Charlotte,
- 10:58Speaker 3: what are you getting at?
- 11:00Speaker 2: Well, just that well.
- 11:04Speaker 4: We've tried everything else and were still you haven't in
- 11:10Speaker 4: my ever, so so I just thought.
- 11:17Speaker 3: I can't be serious.
- 11:20Speaker 2: What other options do we have?
- 11:21Speaker 5: You know?
- 11:22Speaker 2: Good on Charlotte, were actually talking to him like in
- 11:24Speaker 2: the most awkward way possible. Well, at least are talking
- 11:27Speaker 2: about the fact that she they're having issues and could
- 11:30Speaker 2: it be right down this function? Also, could this metal
- 11:34Speaker 2: rod that you put into your penis be a solution? Sir?
- 11:45Speaker 2: But don't stay up too late, dear good night. It's
- 11:49Speaker 2: lovely to meet.
- 11:50Speaker 3: You, Carrie.
- 11:51Speaker 4: Oh, lovely to meet you too, missus.
- 11:54Speaker 2: Adams immediately meeting the parents with his parents.
- 12:01Speaker 3: It's their apartment.
- 12:02Speaker 4: The next day, at Commune Daddy Brier's latest restaurant, I
- 12:06Speaker 4: asked Samantha about my prospects with power Lad.
- 12:08Speaker 1: Not sexy, honey, dump him immediately here use myself.
- 12:12Speaker 4: But that's only because he put all his money in
- 12:14Speaker 4: the comic book store.
- 12:15Speaker 3: So not sexy.
- 12:16Speaker 4: What's his memory? Because he's saving up for his own thing.
- 12:19Speaker 1: This would be interesting today because I know a lot
- 12:21Speaker 1: more people. It's like a more normalized thing to look now.
- 12:23Speaker 2: It is, Yeah, it is for sure, especially if it's
- 12:27Speaker 2: a nice apartment in New York City. It's expensive.
- 12:30Speaker 3: Mm hmm, I'm.
- 12:37Speaker 4: I'm sorry.
- 12:38Speaker 6: Are your braces blue?
- 12:40Speaker 3: No, they're sapphire.
- 12:42Speaker 5: Oh my god, Look you have the old fashioned I
- 12:45Speaker 5: didn't even know he made those anymore, said.
- 12:50Speaker 2: Thirty four year old woman about braces. Wow, her braces
- 12:58Speaker 2: are sapphire. I'm a thirty four year old nerd. How
- 13:03Speaker 2: old are they thirteen?
- 13:06Speaker 4: But they sound I know, and they're dressed I know,
- 13:10Speaker 4: just like us.
- 13:12Speaker 2: There is this moment. I feel like I've seen this
- 13:14Speaker 2: more on social media because this whole discourse about how
- 13:18Speaker 2: the youth, like twenty somethings, eighteen year olds whatever, look
- 13:21Speaker 2: older than some of the millennials. And I think it's
- 13:24Speaker 2: everything to do with that they use the makeup and
- 13:27Speaker 2: the way that they dress, and then when they get
- 13:30Speaker 2: older they realize, we realize, no, we don't want that,
- 13:33Speaker 2: as we kind of revert back to simplistic ways. So
- 13:36Speaker 2: when you're trying, they're trying to look older and as
- 13:39Speaker 2: we're older, we're trying to look younger, and so therefore
- 13:42Speaker 2: we kind of start shifting into that level.
- 13:46Speaker 1: Yeah, and I think you go through that phase of
- 13:50Speaker 1: being like, oh, no, I know about sex and all
- 13:52Speaker 1: this stuff when you're around that age. And then that's
- 13:55Speaker 1: not to say you haven't had experiences perhaps, but that
- 13:58Speaker 1: whole like, oh, they all suck, like I know what it's.
- 14:02Speaker 2: Like, pretending like you know what it is and talking
- 14:04Speaker 2: about it. I definitely was one of those people. And
- 14:07Speaker 2: nothing about sex me too, except for what TV taught me.
- 14:18Speaker 6: With some clients, I found it often helps to create
- 14:22Speaker 6: your own non threatening language with which to talk about sex.
- 14:26Speaker 2: Language to talk about sex, I'm.
- 14:27Speaker 4: Not sure that I understand well.
- 14:29Speaker 3: For example, one client rather whimsically dubbed his anus the
- 14:35Speaker 3: chocolate starfish.
- 14:38Speaker 5: You quite sure you went for Yale, Charlotte.
- 14:42Speaker 2: If you could rename your vagina like he also, really
- 14:46Speaker 2: is a vagina.
- 14:48Speaker 3: That didn't feel threatening to yourself or Trey, what would
- 14:52Speaker 3: you call it?
- 14:56Speaker 4: Rebecca?
- 14:57Speaker 2: Would you give it a human name?
- 14:59Speaker 3: Rebecca?
- 14:59Speaker 2: Would you name?
- 15:00Speaker 3: Why?
- 15:00Speaker 5: On earth?
- 15:01Speaker 1: Would you?
- 15:01Speaker 2: It sounds nice? You ever joined a human name? I
- 15:04Speaker 2: feel like that's kind of disrespectable. Why this is preposterous,
- 15:09Speaker 2: something with positive maybe extra kind, like it's just a
- 15:14Speaker 2: compliment to whomever that name is.
- 15:17Speaker 3: I used to name my vibrators and they were human names.
- 15:21Speaker 2: They were human names. That makes sense.
- 15:25Speaker 3: Yeah, it kind of just happened.
- 15:27Speaker 1: Canoe doesn't go with Rebecca.
- 15:29Speaker 2: Well, what then Canoe and Rebecca?
- 15:32Speaker 3: Well, how about Schooner Schooner's good? Rebecca and Schooner Schooner's good, isn't.
- 15:41Speaker 2: It It sounds like like a frat couple.
- 15:44Speaker 1: Well, I mean the first line he had where he
- 15:46Speaker 1: was like, I can't even remember the names, but he
- 15:48Speaker 1: was like Baisley and Brett.
- 15:50Speaker 3: I was like, oh, why goodness.
- 16:01Speaker 4: The following weekend at the Brier bat Mitzvah party, as you.
- 16:04Speaker 1: Have your name, let's see gold Bark, Goldman, gold Steam.
- 16:09Speaker 3: I'm sorry, ladies, I just jumped se.
- 16:22Speaker 2: Red Carpet.
- 16:24Speaker 1: I had a kid at my school who was popular
- 16:27Speaker 1: and he did run out like a pool ones and
- 16:29Speaker 1: it was the coolest thing.
- 16:30Speaker 3: Did No never anything like that? Never.
- 16:35Speaker 2: Korean dramas do that too, where you just have handsome
- 16:38Speaker 2: boys coming into schools and supposedly the girls are screaming.
- 16:40Speaker 2: I don't think that's real life. I think that's just
- 16:42Speaker 2: the dramas. But I'm like, are you okay they go
- 16:45Speaker 2: to that school? Calm down. I think you get a
- 17:07Speaker 2: good seventy percent from this. So you went above because
- 17:10Speaker 2: you were right. It does talk about they do talk
- 17:12Speaker 2: more into about their childhood, kind of talking and having
- 17:16Speaker 2: memories of it. It did have a child being hot.
- 17:19Speaker 3: I guess, I don't know. I mean you did say that,
- 17:24Speaker 3: so I know, but that was the title and I
- 17:27Speaker 3: was like.
- 17:29Speaker 2: No brunch to be seen. Also, though they did not
- 17:31Speaker 2: go to a club either.
- 17:33Speaker 3: I think I was closer you are.
- 17:35Speaker 2: You were closer? Why I gave you to seventy ish
- 17:37Speaker 2: percent instead of the fifty to fifty in this level.
- 17:42Speaker 2: But yes, yes, that was I forgot about Kat Dennings
- 17:46Speaker 2: being in this episode, which I know that's her playing
- 17:50Speaker 2: That character is nothing like any of the other characters
- 17:52Speaker 2: she's ever played, so it's kind of interesting to see
- 17:56Speaker 2: her being that young. Yeah, the braces do you wrect
- 18:04Speaker 2: out dysfunction? That is? I remembered that episode as soon
- 18:08Speaker 2: as like the Schooner came out.
- 18:15Speaker 3: Yes, schooner being the nickname for his penis. Yes, trade Scots.
- 18:21Speaker 2: Oh, I wonder if he ever gets called schooner in
- 18:25Speaker 2: real life.
- 18:27Speaker 3: Again, that sounds like such a frat boy nickname.
- 18:31Speaker 2: Sailing anything with sailing, very like white person, Northeast white
- 18:37Speaker 2: person name.
- 18:39Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 18:40Speaker 2: Oh, and you did good. You did good. I gave
- 18:42Speaker 2: you some credit. You did pretty good on this one.
- 18:45Speaker 2: We do have. I think we have like three more
- 18:48Speaker 2: episodes left of the season. Three more seasons too. I
- 18:52Speaker 2: think actually, I think there's six seasons in the end.
- 18:55Speaker 2: We're almost at the halfway mark then, because several of
- 18:59Speaker 2: these seasons get even less. I think like a couple
- 19:01Speaker 2: of these seasons because they were going through so much
- 19:03Speaker 2: I won't say turmoil necessarily, but they definitely it's shortened
- 19:09Speaker 2: a lot of these seasons.
- 19:11Speaker 3: Yeah, for reasons.
- 19:14Speaker 1: Yeah, and there's kind of a general shift as time
- 19:16Speaker 1: went on that seasons had less episodes than them right
- 19:20Speaker 1: on something like HBO especially.
- 19:22Speaker 2: Yeah, so there is six seasons. Six. The six season
- 19:26Speaker 2: has part one Part two, but it's actually like I
- 19:29Speaker 2: want to say, there's ten episodes per part one Part
- 19:32Speaker 2: two something like that. But yeah, we have three more
- 19:35Speaker 2: episodes to go. I think we need to bring back
- 19:38Speaker 2: someone for the finale. Okay, I don't think it's gonna
- 19:42Speaker 2: be a listener, though I don't think I don't think
- 19:44Speaker 2: we have enough time for the listener episode for this one.
- 19:47Speaker 2: I do say we finish it up with a guest
- 19:50Speaker 2: to come on, whether it is our super producers, one
- 19:54Speaker 2: of them, or friend of the show. So we've never
- 19:58Speaker 2: had Eve do it, but I think our time zone
- 19:59Speaker 2: might be a little bit different. You might not be
- 20:01Speaker 2: able to access it.
- 20:04Speaker 3: I don't even know what her experience is with it.
- 20:06Speaker 3: It could be very interesting with the show. It would
- 20:10Speaker 3: be really interesting.
- 20:12Speaker 2: Oh yeah, so thank you for listening to this episode. Annie.
- 20:17Speaker 2: What did you think about this episode?
- 20:20Speaker 3: I thought it was fun. I thought it was very.
- 20:24Speaker 1: It was it was very relatable in terms of we
- 20:28Speaker 1: have all felt that when you get a certain age
- 20:30Speaker 1: and you're looking back at your youth and also feeling
- 20:35Speaker 1: some insecurity around your age and what you're seeing young
- 20:42Speaker 1: people doing. And there was a lot in there that
- 20:45Speaker 1: I have memories of also from being like thirteen, where
- 20:51Speaker 1: it was like, oh, trying to talk about sex when
- 20:53Speaker 1: I really didn't know what I was talking about. It
- 20:55Speaker 1: seems like they did, but I personally remember having conversations
- 21:00Speaker 1: like that where I was like, I don't know, I
- 21:03Speaker 1: know what we're talking about, and so I thought it
