  the
• 1:28
  planned
• 1:28
  expenses
• 1:29
  that
• 1:29
  break
• 1:29
  our

• 1:30
  It's
• 1:30
  the
• 1:31
  surprises.
• 1:32
  It's
• 1:32
  that
• 1:33
  flat
• 1:33
  tire,
• 1:34
  that
• 1:34
  broken
• 1:35
  water
• 1:35
  heater,
• 1:36
  and
• 1:36
  that
• 1:37
  dreaded
• 1:37
  medical
• 1:38
  copay.
• 1:39
  So
• 1:40
  on
• 1:40
  today's
• 1:40
  show,
• 1:40
  we're
• 1:41
  going
• 1:41
  to
• 1:41
  learn
• 1:41
  how
• 1:41
  to
• 1:41
  build
• 1:41
  a
• 1:42
  financial
• 1:42
  foundation
• 1:43
  that
• 1:43
  doesn't
• 1:44
  just
• 1:44
  work
• 1:44
  in
• 1:44
  the
• 1:45
  sunshine,
• 1:45
  but
• 1:46
  but
• 1:46
  stands
• 1:47
  firm
• 1:47
  when
• 1:47
  the
• 1:47
  storms
• 1:48
  hit.
• 1:49
  And
• 1:49
  the
• 1:49
  truth
• 1:49
  of
• 1:49
  life
• 1:50
  is,
• 1:50
  the
• 1:51
  storms
• 1:51
  are
• 1:51
  always
• 1:52
  going
• 1:52
  to
• 1:52
  hit.
• 2:14
  Hello,
• 2:14
  friend.
• 2:15
  Ralph
• 2:15
  stepp
• 2:16
  Jr.
• 2:16
  Here.
• 2:17
  Welcome
• 2:17
  to
• 2:17
  Financially
• 2:18
  Confident
• 2:18
  Christian.
• 2:19
  If
• 2:19
  you're
• 2:19
  a
• 2:20
  new
• 2:20
  listener,
• 2:20
  thank
• 2:20
  you
• 2:20
  so
• 2:21
  much
• 2:21
  for
• 2:21
  joining
• 2:21
  us.
• 2:22
  If
• 2:22
  you're
• 2:22
  returning,
• 2:23
  you
• 2:23
  know,
• 2:23
  every
• 2:24
  day
• 2:24
  my
• 2:24
  goal
• 2:25
  is
• 2:25
  to
• 2:25
  break
• 2:25
  the
• 2:26
  cycle
• 2:26
  of
• 2:26
  financial
• 2:27
  shame
• 2:28
  and
• 2:28
  help
• 2:28
  you
• 2:28
  live
• 2:29
  in
• 2:29
  confidence.
• 2:30
  And
• 2:30
  today's
• 2:31
  topic
• 2:31
  is
• 2:32
  how
• 2:32
  to
• 2:32
  handle
• 2:32
  the
• 2:33
  surprises
• 2:33
  of
• 2:33
  life
• 2:34
  without
• 2:34
  letting
• 2:34
  them
• 2:34
  derail
• 2:35
  your
• 2:36
  entire
• 2:36
  financial
• 2:37
  future.
• 2:38
  Today,
• 2:38
  I
• 2:38
  want
• 2:38
  to
• 2:39
  help
• 2:39
  you
• 2:39
  build
• 2:39
  a
• 2:39
  rock
• 2:40
  solid
• 2:40
  foundation.
• 2:42
  Well,
• 2:42
  this
• 2:42
  show
• 2:43
  is
• 2:43
  all
• 2:43
  about
• 2:43
  answering
• 2:43
  your
• 2:44
  question.
• 2:44
  So
• 2:44
  let's
• 2:44
  get
• 2:45
  right
• 2:45
  to
• 2:45
  our
• 2:45
  question
• 2:46
  today.
• 2:46
  And
• 2:47
  the
• 2:47
  question
• 2:47
  comes
• 2:47
  to
• 2:47
  us
• 2:48
  and
• 2:48
  says
• 2:48
  this,
• 2:48
  Ralph,
• 2:49
  I
• 2:49
  try
• 2:50
  to
• 2:50
  plan
• 2:50
  my
• 2:50
  money
• 2:51
  carefully,
• 2:52
  but
• 2:52
  every
• 2:52
  time
• 2:53
  I
• 2:53
  start
• 2:53
  to
• 2:53
  feel
• 2:53
  steady,
• 2:54
  a
• 2:54
  surprise
• 2:55
  bill
• 2:55
  throws
• 2:56
  everything
• 2:56
  off.
• 2:57
  It
• 2:57
  feels
• 2:58
  like
• 2:58
  I'm
• 2:58
  constantly
• 2:58
  starting
• 2:59
  over,
• 3:00
  never
• 3:00
  really
• 3:00
  getting
• 3:00
  ahead.
• 3:02
  I'm
• 3:02
  exhausted
• 3:03
  from
• 3:03
  the
• 3:03
  cycle
• 3:03
  of
• 3:03
  progress
• 3:04
  and
• 3:04
  setback.
• 3:05
  How
• 3:06
  do
• 3:06
  I
• 3:06
  build
• 3:06
  a
• 3:06
  simple
• 3:07
  plan
• 3:07
  that.
• 3:08
  That
• 3:08
  can
• 3:08
  hold
• 3:08
  up
• 3:09
  even
• 3:09
  when
• 3:09
  life
• 3:10
  refuses
• 3:10
  to
• 3:10
  be
• 3:11
  predictable?
• 3:13
  You
• 3:13
  know,
• 3:13
  my
• 3:13
  mom
• 3:13
  always
• 3:13
  said
• 3:14
  the
• 3:14
  one
• 3:14
  thing
• 3:14
  about
• 3:14
  life
• 3:15
  is
• 3:15
  it's
• 3:15
  not
• 3:15
  predictable.
• 3:17
  That's
• 3:17
  just
• 3:17
  the
• 3:18
  truth.
• 3:19
  And
• 3:19
  there
• 3:19
  are
• 3:19
  going
• 3:19
  to
• 3:20
  be
• 3:20
  surprises.
• 3:20
  Now,
• 3:21
  today
• 3:21
  I'm
• 3:21
  going
• 3:21
  to
• 3:21
  talk
• 3:21
  a
• 3:21
  little
• 3:22
  bit
• 3:22
  about
• 3:22
  how
• 3:22
  sometimes
• 3:23
  I
• 3:23
  don't
• 3:24
  think
• 3:24
  they're
• 3:24
  always
• 3:25
  surprises,
• 3:27
  but
• 3:27
  unexpected
• 3:27
  expenses
• 3:28
  are
• 3:28
  a
• 3:29
  certainty.
• 3:31
  So
• 3:31
  a
• 3:31
  budget
• 3:32
  without
• 3:32
  a
• 3:32
  buffer,
• 3:34
  without
• 3:35
  a
• 3:35
  plan
• 3:36
  is
• 3:36
  just
• 3:36
  a
• 3:37
  wish.
• 3:37
  So
• 3:37
  let's
• 3:38
  talk
• 3:38
  about
• 3:38
  how
• 3:38
  to
• 3:38
  make
• 3:39
  this
• 3:39
  work
• 3:39
  better.
• 3:40
  First
• 3:40
  thing
• 3:40
  you've
• 3:41
  got
• 3:41
  to
• 3:41
  do
• 3:41
  is
• 3:41
  you've
• 3:42
  got
• 3:42
  to
• 3:42
  rebrand
• 3:42
  your
• 3:43
  surprises
• 3:44
  as
• 3:44
  irregularities.
• 3:46
  What
• 3:46
  I
• 3:46
  said
• 3:46
  a
• 3:46
  few
• 3:46
  minutes
• 3:47
  ago,
• 3:48
  most
• 3:48
  surprises,
• 3:49
  if
• 3:49
  we're
• 3:49
  being
• 3:49
  honest,
• 3:50
  are
• 3:51
  actually
• 3:51
  predictable
• 3:52
  over
• 3:52
  a
• 3:53
  long
• 3:53
  enough
• 3:53
  time
• 3:53
  frame.
• 3:55
  You
• 3:55
  know,
• 3:55
  for
• 3:56
  example,
• 3:56
  every
• 3:57
  year
• 3:57
  you're
• 3:58
  going
• 3:58
  to
• 3:58
  have
• 3:58
  property
• 3:59
  taxes.
• 3:59
  If
• 3:59
  you
• 3:59
  own
• 3:59
  a
• 3:59
  home,
• 4:01
  you
• 4:01
  know
• 4:01
  that
• 4:01
  your
• 4:01
  tires
• 4:02
  are
• 4:02
  only
• 4:02
  going
• 4:02
  to
• 4:02
  last
• 4:03
  for
• 4:03
  so
• 4:03
  long.
• 4:03
  On
• 4:04
  your
• 4:04
  car,
• 4:04
  you're
• 4:05
  going
• 4:05
  to
• 4:05
  have
• 4:05
  to
• 4:05
  have
• 4:05
  routine
• 4:06
  maintenance.
• 4:07
  So
• 4:08
  one
• 4:08
  of
• 4:08
  the
• 4:08
  best
• 4:08
  ways
• 4:09
  to
• 4:09
  beat
• 4:09
  this
• 4:09
  is
• 4:10
  start
• 4:10
  a
• 4:10
  list
• 4:11
  of
• 4:11
  things
• 4:11
  that
• 4:12
  happen
• 4:12
  once
• 4:12
  or
• 4:12
  twice
• 4:13
  a
• 4:13
  year.
• 4:14
  Those
• 4:14
  car
• 4:15
  tags,
• 4:16
  maybe
• 4:16
  birthdays
• 4:18
  and
• 4:18
  even
• 4:18
  maintenance
• 4:18
  on
• 4:19
  your
• 4:19
  home
• 4:19
  or
• 4:19
  the
• 4:19
  other
• 4:20
  things
• 4:20
  you
• 4:20
  own.
• 4:21
  And
• 4:21
  then
• 4:21
  give
• 4:22
  them
• 4:22
  a
• 4:22
  place
• 4:22
  or
• 4:23
  what
• 4:23
  I'll
• 4:23
  call
• 4:23
  a
• 4:24
  home
• 4:24
  in
• 4:24
  your
• 4:25
  monthly
• 4:25
  budget,
• 4:26
  then
• 4:26
  they
• 4:27
  don't
• 4:27
  become
• 4:27
  surprises
• 4:28
  anymore.
• 4:28
  They're
• 4:28
  predictable.
• 4:30
  So
• 4:30
  that's
• 4:30
  the
• 4:30
  first
• 4:30
  thing.
• 4:31
  Second
• 4:31
  thing,
• 4:32
  and
• 4:32
  you're
• 4:32
  like,
• 4:32
  ralph,
• 4:33
  here
• 4:33
  he
• 4:33
  goes
• 4:33
  again
• 4:33
  with
• 4:34
  that
• 4:34
  buffer
• 4:34
  account.
• 4:35
  Yes,
• 4:36
  start
• 4:37
  building
• 4:37
  a
• 4:37
  $1,000
• 4:39
  starter
• 4:39
  buffer
• 4:40
  account.
• 4:41
  Before
• 4:41
  you
• 4:41
  aggressively
• 4:42
  pay
• 4:42
  off
• 4:43
  debt,
• 4:43
  you've
• 4:44
  got
• 4:44
  to
• 4:44
  have
• 4:44
  a
• 4:44
  small
• 4:45
  wall
• 4:46
  of
• 4:46
  cash
• 4:46
  between
• 4:46
  you
• 4:47
  and
• 4:47
  life.
• 4:48
  Things
• 4:49
  happen
• 4:49
  in
• 4:49
  life.
• 4:50
  And
• 4:50
  this
• 4:51
  isn't
• 4:51
  $1,000
• 4:52
  for
• 4:52
  spending.
• 4:53
  It's
• 4:53
  for
• 4:53
  turning
• 4:53
  that
• 4:54
  crisis
• 4:54
  moment
• 4:55
  that
• 4:55
  all
• 4:55
  of
• 4:55
  us
• 4:55
  have
• 4:56
  those
• 4:56
  crisis
• 4:56
  moments
• 4:58
  into
• 4:58
  a
• 4:58
  mere
• 4:59
  inconvenience
• 5:00
  because
• 5:00
  you've
• 5:00
  got
• 5:00
  the
• 5:00
  money
• 5:00
  set
• 5:01
  aside
• 5:01
  for
• 5:01
  it.
• 5:02
  Another
• 5:03
  thing
• 5:03
  I'm
• 5:03
  going
• 5:03
  to
• 5:03
  encourage
• 5:04
  you
• 5:04
  to
• 5:04
  do
• 5:04
  is
• 5:05
  implement
• 5:05
  a
• 5:06
  miscellaneous
• 5:07
  line
• 5:07
  item.
• 5:08
  Now,
• 5:08
  as
• 5:08
  an
• 5:08
  accountant,
• 5:09
  I
• 5:09
  don't
• 5:09
  really
• 5:10
  love
• 5:10
  the
• 5:10
  miscellaneous
• 5:11
  category,
• 5:12
  but
• 5:12
  for
• 5:12
  an
• 5:13
  individual,
• 5:14
  every
• 5:14
  budget
• 5:14
  needs
• 5:15
  a
• 5:15
  wiggle
• 5:15
  room
• 5:16
  category.
• 5:17
  If
• 5:17
  you've
• 5:18
  got
• 5:18
  every
• 5:18
  account
• 5:19
  down
• 5:19
  to
• 5:19
  the
• 5:20
  penny,
• 5:20
  I'm
• 5:21
  talking
• 5:21
  about
• 5:21
  leaving
• 5:22
  zero
• 5:22
  for
• 5:22
  the
• 5:22
  random
• 5:23
  things
• 5:23
  that
• 5:23
  pop
• 5:23
  up.
• 5:24
  Your
• 5:25
  budget's
• 5:25
  going
• 5:25
  to
• 5:25
  fail
• 5:25
  every
• 5:26
  month
• 5:27
  because
• 5:28
  life
• 5:28
  is
• 5:28
  unexpected.
• 5:30
  You
• 5:31
  can't
• 5:31
  just
• 5:31
  assume,
• 5:31
  oh,
• 5:32
  it's
• 5:32
  always
• 5:32
  going
• 5:32
  to
• 5:33
  be
• 5:33
  perfect.
• 5:33
  We
• 5:34
  went
• 5:34
  out
• 5:34
  to
• 5:34
  dinner
• 5:34
  with
• 5:34
  my
• 5:35
  son
• 5:35
  last
• 5:35
  night,
• 5:35
  and
• 5:35
  as
• 5:36
  we
• 5:36
  were
• 5:36
  driving
• 5:36
  back
• 5:37
  from
• 5:37
  dinner,
• 5:37
  he
• 5:38
  says,
• 5:38
  I've
• 5:38
  been
• 5:38
  really
• 5:38
  surprised
• 5:39
  that
• 5:39
  my
• 5:39
  electric
• 5:40
  bill
• 5:40
  has
• 5:40
  been
• 5:40
  low.
• 5:41
  And
• 5:41
  I
• 5:41
  said,
• 5:42
  well,
• 5:42
  we're
• 5:42
  in
• 5:42
  that
• 5:42
  season
• 5:42
  right
• 5:43
  here
• 5:43
  in
• 5:43
  Delaware.
• 5:43
  We're
• 5:44
  in
• 5:44
  that
• 5:44
  season
• 5:44
  right
• 5:44
  now
• 5:45
  where
• 5:45
  it's
• 5:45
  cool
• 5:46
  enough
• 5:46
  at
• 5:46
  night
• 5:47
  but
• 5:47
  warm
• 5:47
  enough
• 5:48
  during
• 5:48
  the
• 5:48
  day
• 5:48
  that
• 5:48
  he's
• 5:49
  really
• 5:49
  not
• 5:49
  having
• 5:49
  to
• 5:49
  run
• 5:49
  either
• 5:50
  his
• 5:50
  heat
• 5:50
  or
• 5:50
  his
• 5:50
  air
• 5:51
  conditioner.
• 5:52
  So
• 5:52
  he's
• 5:52
  living
• 5:52
  in
• 5:52
  that
• 5:53
  reality
• 5:53
  of
• 5:53
  his
• 5:54
  budget
• 5:54
  being
• 5:54
  a
• 5:54
  little
• 5:54
  bit
• 5:55
  better
• 5:55
  than
• 5:55
  he
• 5:55
  expected.
• 5:56
  But
• 5:56
  I
• 5:56
  said,
• 5:56
  don't
• 5:56
  forget,
• 5:57
  son,
• 5:57
  summer's
• 5:58
  coming.
• 5:59
  You
• 5:59
  better
• 5:59
  be
• 6:00
  playing
• 6:00
  for
• 6:00
  that.
• 6:01
  Which
• 6:01
  leads
• 6:01
  me
• 6:02
  to
• 6:02
  this.
• 6:03
  Think
• 6:03
  about
• 6:04
  using
• 6:04
  what
• 6:04
  I
• 6:04
  call
• 6:05
  a
• 6:05
  sinking
• 6:05
  fund.
• 6:06
  Now,
• 6:06
  this
• 6:06
  isn't
• 6:07
  like
• 6:07
  a
• 6:07
  torpedo
• 6:08
  to
• 6:08
  your
• 6:08
  budget.
• 6:08
  That's
• 6:09
  not
• 6:09
  at
• 6:09
  all
• 6:09
  what
• 6:09
  I'm
• 6:09
  saying.
• 6:10
  But
• 6:10
  for
• 6:11
  the
• 6:11
  big
• 6:11
  stuff
• 6:12
  like
• 6:12
  tires
• 6:13
  or
• 6:13
  insurance,
• 6:15
  you
• 6:15
  can
• 6:15
  save
• 6:16
  a
• 6:16
  small
• 6:16
  amount
• 6:16
  every
• 6:17
  month
• 6:17
  in
• 6:17
  a
• 6:17
  dedicated
• 6:18
  sub
• 6:18
  account.
• 6:20
  That
• 6:20
  way,
• 6:20
  when
• 6:20
  that
• 6:20
  bill
• 6:21
  finally
• 6:21
  arrives,
• 6:21
  because
• 6:21
  you
• 6:22
  know
• 6:22
  it's
• 6:22
  happening,
• 6:23
  the
• 6:23
  money's
• 6:24
  already
• 6:24
  sitting
• 6:24
  there
• 6:25
  waiting
• 6:25
  to
• 6:25
  be
• 6:25
  used.
• 6:25
  You've
• 6:26
  already
• 6:26
  carved
• 6:26
  it
• 6:26
  out.
• 6:26
  You've
• 6:27
  started
• 6:27
  putting
• 6:27
  money
• 6:27
  towards
• 6:28
  it.
• 6:29
  But
• 6:29
  the
• 6:29
  biggest
• 6:30
  thing
• 6:30
  I
• 6:30
  really
• 6:30
  want
• 6:31
  to
• 6:31
  encourage
• 6:31
  you
• 6:31
  with
• 6:32
  today,
• 6:33
  learn
• 6:33
  to
• 6:33
  forgive
• 6:34
  yourself
• 6:34
  and
• 6:35
  pivot.
• 6:37
  Setbacks
• 6:37
  are
• 6:37
  going
• 6:37
  to
• 6:38
  happen.
• 6:39
  They're
• 6:39
  a
• 6:39
  sure
• 6:40
  thing
• 6:40
  in
• 6:41
  life.
• 6:42
  And
• 6:42
  when
• 6:42
  they
• 6:42
  happen,
• 6:43
  don't
• 6:43
  throw
• 6:43
  the
• 6:43
  whole
• 6:44
  plan
• 6:44
  away.
• 6:45
  Just
• 6:45
  because
• 6:46
  you've
• 6:46
  had
• 6:46
  this
• 6:46
  situation
• 6:47
  doesn't
• 6:48
  mean
• 6:48
  that
• 6:48
  the
• 6:48
  whole
• 6:48
  plan
• 6:49
  is
• 6:49
  broken.
• 6:50
  This
• 6:50
  is
• 6:51
  a
• 6:51
  time
• 6:51
  where
• 6:51
  you
• 6:51
  use
• 6:51
  that
• 6:52
  emergency
• 6:52
  fund
• 6:52
  and
• 6:53
  say,
• 6:54
  thank
• 6:54
  you,
• 6:54
  God,
• 6:54
  for
• 6:55
  the
• 6:55
  provision.
• 6:56
  And
• 6:56
  just
• 6:56
  focus
• 6:57
  on
• 6:57
  refilling
• 6:58
  that
• 6:58
  fund
• 6:58
  next
• 6:59
  month,
• 7:00
  friend.
• 7:01
  You
• 7:01
  got
• 7:01
  to
• 7:01
  understand,
• 7:02
  a
• 7:02
  setback
• 7:02
  is
• 7:03
  a
• 7:03
  detour,
• 7:04
  not
• 7:04
  a
• 7:05
  dead
• 7:05
  end.
• 7:06
  So
• 7:06
  many
• 7:06
  people
• 7:06
  have
• 7:07
  a
• 7:07
  setback,
• 7:07
  and
• 7:07
  next
• 7:07
  thing
• 7:08
  you
• 7:08
  know,
• 7:08
  they're
• 7:08
  like,
• 7:08
  well,
• 7:08
  I'm
• 7:08
  not
• 7:08
  even
• 7:09
  going
• 7:09
  to
• 7:09
  budget.
• 7:09
  I'm
• 7:09
  not
• 7:10
  even
• 7:10
  going
• 7:10
  to
• 7:10
  try.
• 7:12
  Don't
• 7:12
  think
• 7:12
  like
• 7:13
  that.
• 7:13
  It's
• 7:13
  just
• 7:13
  a
• 7:13
  detour.
• 7:15
  You'll
• 7:15
  figure
• 7:15
  out
• 7:15
  a
• 7:16
  way
• 7:16
  around
• 7:16
  it.
• 7:17
  Because
• 7:17
  in
• 7:18
  the
• 7:18
  end,
• 7:18
  financial
• 7:19
  peace
• 7:19
  isn't
• 7:20
  the
• 7:20
  absence
• 7:21
  of
• 7:21
  storms.
• 7:23
  Storms
• 7:23
  are
• 7:23
  going
• 7:24
  to
• 7:24
  happen
• 7:24
  in
• 7:24
  your
• 7:24
  life.
• 7:26
  But
• 7:26
  financial
• 7:26
  peace
• 7:27
  comes
• 7:27
  from
• 7:27
  the
• 7:28
  presence
• 7:28
  of
• 7:28
  a
• 7:29
  solid
• 7:29
  foundation.
• 7:31
  And
• 7:31
  I
• 7:31
  think
• 7:31
  today
• 7:31
  we've
• 7:32
  talked
• 7:32
  about
• 7:32
  how
• 7:32
  to
• 7:33
  build
• 7:33
  that
• 7:33
  solid
• 7:34
  foundation.
• 7:35
  So
• 7:35
  here's
• 7:36
  your
• 7:36
  win
• 7:36
  for
• 7:36
  today.
• 7:37
  If
• 7:37
  you're
• 7:37
  new
• 7:37
  to
• 7:37
  the
• 7:37
  show,
• 7:37
  I
• 7:38
  always
• 7:38
  want
• 7:38
  to
• 7:38
  give
• 7:38
  you
• 7:39
  something
• 7:39
  simple
• 7:40
  that
• 7:40
  you
• 7:40
  can
• 7:40
  do
• 7:40
  every
• 7:41
  day
• 7:41
  to
• 7:41
  have
• 7:41
  that
• 7:42
  simple
• 7:42
  financial
• 7:43
  win.
• 7:43
  Here's
• 7:44
  what
• 7:44
  I
• 7:44
  want
• 7:44
  you
• 7:44
  to
• 7:44
  do.
• 7:45
  I
• 7:45
  want
• 7:45
  you
• 7:45
  to
• 7:45
  grab
• 7:46
  your
• 7:46
  bank
• 7:46
  statements,
• 7:47
  your
• 7:47
  credit
• 7:47
  card
• 7:47
  statements
• 7:48
  for
• 7:48
  the
• 7:48
  last
• 7:48
  six
• 7:49
  months,
• 7:50
  and
• 7:50
  then
• 7:50
  I
• 7:50
  want
• 7:50
  you
• 7:50
  to
• 7:50
  find
• 7:51
  one
• 7:51
  expense
• 7:52
  that
• 7:52
  surprised
• 7:53
  you.
• 7:54
  Just
• 7:55
  find
• 7:55
  that
• 7:55
  one
• 7:55
  expense
• 7:56
  that
• 7:56
  surprised
• 7:56
  you.
• 7:56
  Maybe
• 7:57
  it
• 7:57
  was
• 7:57
  tires,
• 7:58
  maybe
• 7:58
  it
• 7:58
  was
• 7:59
  insurance.
• 8:00
  Who
• 8:00
  knows
• 8:00
  what
• 8:00
  it
• 8:00
  was?
• 8:01
  Just
• 8:01
  take
• 8:01
  that
• 8:01
  one
• 8:02
  expense
• 8:02
  that
• 8:03
  surprised
• 8:03
  you
• 8:04
  and
• 8:04
  create
• 8:05
  a
• 8:05
  sinking
• 8:05
  fund
• 8:05
  for
• 8:05
  that
• 8:06
  and
• 8:06
  just
• 8:06
  take
• 8:06
  that
• 8:06
  expense
• 8:07
  and
• 8:07
  divide
• 8:07
  by
• 8:07
  12
• 8:08
  and
• 8:08
  factor
• 8:09
  that
• 8:09
  in
• 8:09
  your
• 8:09
  budget.
• 8:10
  One
• 8:10
  of
• 8:10
  the
• 8:10
  ones
• 8:11
  that
• 8:11
  I
• 8:11
  think
• 8:11
  a
• 8:11
  lot
• 8:11
  of
• 8:11
  people
• 8:12
  don't
• 8:12
  think
• 8:12
  about
• 8:12
  is
• 8:12
  the
• 8:13
  holidays
• 8:14
  you're
• 8:14
  going
• 8:14
  to
• 8:14
  buy
• 8:14
  for
• 8:15
  people.
• 8:15
  We're
• 8:15
  getting
• 8:15
  ready
• 8:15
  to
• 8:16
  have
• 8:16
  a
• 8:16
  grandchild.
• 8:16
  We're
• 8:17
  gonna
• 8:17
  have
• 8:17
  a
• 8:17
  grandson
• 8:17
  in
• 8:18
  June,
• 8:18
  maybe
• 8:18
  coming
• 8:18
  early,
• 8:19
  who
• 8:19
  knows?
• 8:19
  But
• 8:19
  we're
• 8:20
  gonna
• 8:20
  have
• 8:20
  a
• 8:20
  grandson.
• 8:21
  Well,
• 8:21
  there's
• 8:21
  one
• 8:22
  of
• 8:22
  the
• 8:22
  things
• 8:22
  my
• 8:22
  wife
• 8:22
  said
• 8:23
  right
• 8:23
  away.
• 8:23
  She
• 8:23
  says,
• 8:23
  you
• 8:23
  realize
• 8:24
  now
• 8:24
  we're
• 8:25
  gonna
• 8:25
  have
• 8:25
  birthdays
• 8:26
  and
• 8:26
  holidays
• 8:27
  and
• 8:27
  all.
• 8:27
  Well,
• 8:28
  guess
• 8:28
  what?
• 8:28
  I
• 8:29
  better
• 8:29
  start
• 8:29
  thinking
• 8:29
  about
• 8:30
  setting
• 8:30
  aside
• 8:30
  some
• 8:30
  money
• 8:31
  for
• 8:31
  that.
• 8:31
  We
• 8:32
  may
• 8:32
  need
• 8:32
  to
• 8:32
  travel,
• 8:33
  that
• 8:33
  sort
• 8:34
  of
• 8:34
  thing,
• 8:34
  so
• 8:34
  I
• 8:34
  can
• 8:35
  create
• 8:35
  that
• 8:35
  sinking
• 8:36
  fund.
• 8:36
  And
• 8:36
  then
• 8:36
  it
• 8:37
  doesn't
• 8:37
  become
• 8:37
  a
• 8:37
  surprise
• 8:38
  anymore.
• 8:38
  It
• 8:39
  becomes
• 8:39
  a
• 8:39
  routine
• 8:40
  part
• 8:40
  of
• 8:40
  what
• 8:40
  I'm
• 8:41
  planning
• 8:41
  for.
• 8:42
  Well,
• 8:42
  let's
• 8:42
  get
• 8:42
  into
• 8:43
  the
• 8:43
  Bible.
• 8:43
  One
• 8:43
  of
• 8:43
  the
• 8:43
  things
• 8:44
  I
• 8:44
  always
• 8:44
  want
• 8:44
  to
• 8:44
  do
• 8:44
  on
• 8:45
  this
• 8:45
  show
• 8:45
  is
• 8:46
  connect
• 8:46
  what
• 8:46
  we're
• 8:47
  talking
• 8:47
  about,
• 8:47
  the
• 8:47
  scripture.
• 8:48
  I
• 8:48
  think
• 8:48
  there's
• 8:48
  a
• 8:48
  huge
• 8:49
  connection
• 8:49
  between
• 8:50
  faith
• 8:50
  and
• 8:50
  finances.
• 8:51
  And
• 8:52
  today
• 8:52
  I
• 8:52
  want
• 8:52
  to
• 8:52
  go
• 8:52
  to
• 8:53
  the
• 8:53
  book
• 8:53
  of
• 8:53
  Matthew.
• 8:54
  This
• 8:54
  is
• 8:54
  from
• 8:54
  Matthew,
• 8:55
  chapter
• 8:55
  7,
• 8:56
  verses
• 8:56
  24
• 8:57
  and
• 8:57
  25.
• 8:58
  And
• 8:58
  this
• 8:58
  is
• 8:59
  what
• 8:59
  it
• 8:59
  says
• 8:59
  again,
• 8:59
  Matthew
• 9:00
  7,
• 9:00
  24,
• 9:01
  25.
• 9:02
  Therefore,
• 9:02
  everyone
• 9:03
  who
• 9:03
  hears
• 9:03
  these
• 9:04
  words
• 9:04
  of
• 9:04
  mine
• 9:05
  and
• 9:05
  puts
• 9:06
  them
• 9:06
  into
• 9:06
  practice.
• 9:07
  It's
• 9:08
  like
• 9:08
  a
• 9:08
  wise
• 9:08
  man
• 9:09
  who
• 9:09
  built
• 9:09
  his
• 9:09
  house
• 9:09
  on
• 9:10
  the
• 9:10
  rock.
• 9:11
  The
• 9:12
  rain
• 9:12
  came
• 9:12
  down
• 9:13
  the
• 9:13
  Streams
• 9:14
  rose
• 9:15
  and
• 9:15
  the
• 9:15
  winds
• 9:15
  blew
• 9:16
  and
• 9:16
  beat
• 9:16
  against
• 9:16
  the
• 9:17
  house,
• 9:18
  yet
• 9:18
  it
• 9:19
  did
• 9:19
  not
• 9:19
  fall
• 9:20
  because
• 9:21
  it
• 9:21
  had
• 9:21
  its
• 9:21
  foundation
• 9:23
  on
• 9:23
  the
• 9:24
  rock.
• 9:26
  And
• 9:26
  this
• 9:26
  reminds
• 9:27
  us
• 9:27
  of
• 9:27
  something.
• 9:28
  Storms
• 9:29
  are
• 9:29
  guaranteed
• 9:30
  for
• 9:30
  everyone.
• 9:31
  You're
• 9:32
  going
• 9:32
  to
• 9:32
  have
• 9:32
  storms
• 9:33
  in
• 9:33
  your
• 9:33
  life,
• 9:34
  but
• 9:35
  the
• 9:35
  outcome
• 9:35
  of
• 9:35
  the
• 9:35
  storm
• 9:36
  depends
• 9:36
  entirely
• 9:37
  on
• 9:37
  what
• 9:37
  you
• 9:37
  choose
• 9:38
  to
• 9:38
  build
• 9:38
  upon
• 9:39
  during
• 9:39
  that
• 9:40
  fair
• 9:40
  weather
• 9:40
  time.
• 9:42
  And
• 9:42
  I
• 9:42
  think
• 9:42
  today
• 9:42
  I've
• 9:43
  given
• 9:43
  you
• 9:43
  some
• 9:43
  things
• 9:43
  you
• 9:43
  can
• 9:43
  build
• 9:44
  on.
• 9:44
  Well,
• 9:44
  let's
• 9:44
  pray
• 9:44
  about
• 9:45
  this.
• 9:46
  Lord,
• 9:46
  I
• 9:46
  pray
• 9:47
  for
• 9:47
  the
• 9:47
  one
• 9:47
  who
• 9:47
  feels
• 9:48
  like
• 9:48
  they're
• 9:48
  drowning
• 9:49
  in
• 9:49
  unexpected
• 9:49
  bills.
• 9:51
  Been
• 9:51
  there
• 9:51
  myself,
• 9:52
  Lord.
• 9:53
  So
• 9:53
  give
• 9:53
  us
• 9:53
  wisdom
• 9:54
  to
• 9:54
  see
• 9:54
  ahead
• 9:55
  and
• 9:55
  the
• 9:55
  discipline
• 9:56
  to
• 9:56
  build
• 9:56
  that
• 9:56
  buffer.
• 9:58
  And
• 9:58
  Lord,
• 9:59
  right
• 9:59
  now
• 9:59
  I
• 9:59
  ask
• 9:59
  that
• 9:59
  you
• 9:59
  will
• 10:00
  protect
• 10:00
  their
• 10:00
  household
• 10:01
  from
• 10:01
  those
• 10:01
  major
• 10:02
  catastrophes
• 10:04
  and
• 10:04
  provide
• 10:04
  the
• 10:05
  extra
• 10:05
  resources
• 10:05
  they
• 10:06
  need
• 10:06
  to
• 10:06
  get
• 10:06
  their
• 10:06
  feet
• 10:07
  on
• 10:07
  solid
• 10:07
  ground.
• 10:09
  Help
• 10:09
  us
• 10:09
  all
• 10:09
  to
• 10:10
  trust
• 10:10
  you
• 10:10
  in
• 10:10
  your
• 10:10
  provision,
• 10:11
  even
• 10:11
  when
• 10:12
  the
• 10:12
  car
• 10:12
  breaks
• 10:13
  or
• 10:13
  the
• 10:13
  roof
• 10:14
  leaks.
• 10:16
  And
• 10:16
  Lord,
• 10:16
  may
• 10:16
  our
• 10:16
  confidence
• 10:17
  always
• 10:17
  rest
• 10:18
  in
• 10:18
  you.
• 10:18
  That
• 10:18
  rock
• 10:19
  that
• 10:19
  never
• 10:19
  moves.
• 10:21
  And
• 10:21
  we
• 10:21
  ask
• 10:21
  this
• 10:21
  in
• 10:22
  the
• 10:22
  precious
• 10:22
  name
• 10:22
  of
• 10:22
  Jesus.
• 10:24
  Amen.
• 10:26
  Friend,
• 10:26
  hear
• 10:27
  me
• 10:27
  on
• 10:27
  this.
• 10:28
  You're
• 10:28
  not
• 10:28
  starting
• 10:29
  over.
• 10:30
  You're
• 10:30
  starting
• 10:31
  again,
• 10:31
  but
• 10:31
  you're
• 10:31
  starting
• 10:32
  with
• 10:32
  more
• 10:32
  experience.
• 10:34
  And
• 10:34
  listen,
• 10:34
  if
• 10:34
  you've
• 10:34
  got
• 10:35
  a
• 10:35
  question
• 10:35
  for
• 10:35
  this
• 10:35
  show,
• 10:36
  I
• 10:36
  would
• 10:36
  love
• 10:36
  to
• 10:36
  answer
• 10:37
  your
• 10:37
  question.
• 10:38
  It's
• 10:38
  simple
• 10:38
  to
• 10:38
  get
• 10:38
  it
• 10:39
  to
• 10:39
  us.
• 10:39
  Just
• 10:39
  go
• 10:40
  to
• 10:40
  financiallyconfidentchristian.com/question
• 10:45
  We've
• 10:45
  recently
• 10:45
  made
• 10:46
  some
• 10:46
  enhancements
• 10:46
  to
• 10:46
  that.
• 10:46
  We
• 10:47
  made
• 10:47
  it
• 10:47
  super
• 10:47
  easy.
• 10:48
  We'll
• 10:48
  put
• 10:48
  a
• 10:48
  link
• 10:49
  in
• 10:49
  the
• 10:49
  show
• 10:49
  notes,
• 10:49
  but
• 10:49
  it's
• 10:50
  financiallyconfidentchristian.com/question
• 10:54
  And
• 10:55
  I
• 10:55
  just
• 10:55
  want
• 10:55
  to
• 10:55
  take
• 10:55
  this
• 10:56
  moment
• 10:56
  to
• 10:56
  thank
• 10:56
  you
• 10:56
  for
• 10:57
  joining
• 10:57
  me.
• 10:57
  If
• 10:57
  this
• 10:57
  is
• 10:57
  your
• 10:57
  first
• 10:58
  episode,
• 10:58
  do
• 10:58
  me
• 10:58
  a
• 10:59
  favor,
• 10:59
  come
• 10:59
  back
• 11:00
  again
• 11:00
  and
• 11:00
  see
• 11:00
  me
• 11:00
  tomorrow.
• 11:01
  And
• 11:01
  if
• 11:01
  it's
• 11:02
  been
• 11:02
  impactful,
• 11:02
  share
• 11:03
  it
• 11:03
  with
• 11:03
  somebody
• 11:04
  and
• 11:04
  help
• 11:04
  spread
• 11:04
  the
• 11:05
  blessings.
• 11:06
  And
• 11:06
  I
• 11:06
  want
• 11:06
  to
• 11:06
  encourage
• 11:06
  you
• 11:06
  right
• 11:07
  now
• 11:07
  to
• 11:07
  stay
• 11:07
  financially
• 11:08
  savvy.
• 11:09
  May
• 11:09
  God
• 11:09
  bless
• 11:09
  you
• 11:10
  and
• 11:10
  you
• 11:11
  have
• 11:11
  a
• 11:11
  truly
• 11:11
  great
• 11:11
  day
• 11:12
  today.
