- 0:03Today, we're going to be talking about the steps that Elon Musk
- 0:06is taking with a social media platform, X.
- 0:09Now Musk aims to turn X into a multifaceted app akin to China's
- 0:14WeChat, where users can do basically everything from bank
- 0:18transactions to job hunting, from live streaming to shopping
- 0:22and even dating. All of these developments were
- 0:25revealed in a recent company meeting, throwing light on
- 0:29Musk's expansive vision for the future of the platform.
- 0:32But before we dive into this web of updates, let's break down the
- 0:36story into more digestible parts now.
- 0:39Part one is the evolution of Twitter beyond messaging, or X,
- 0:44if you want to call it that. Musk wants X to transcend its
- 0:47identity as merely a messaging app.
- 0:50No more tweets. During a recent meeting, he
- 0:52shared that the platform will soon offer a variety of features
- 0:55that allow users to perform an array of activities without
- 0:58needing to switch to other platforms or applications.
- 1:01He underscored the need for a single platform that can
- 1:03accommodate numerous daily tasks, and since its inception,
- 1:07X has incorporated several changes in its features and
- 1:10functionalities. Now the updates from the last
- 1:13few months reveal A trajectory toward becoming a one stop shop
- 1:16for social interactions. Recently, the platform
- 1:19introduced audio and video Calling Features, signaling its
- 1:22ambitious role to dominate the social media sector in the
- 1:27streaming media sector as well. Now the platform has also
- 1:30improved its video streaming capabilities.
- 1:32Users can now benefit from an enhanced user interface
- 1:35featuring vertical scrolling, long video uploads and a more
- 1:39refined algorithm. All these elements have
- 1:42collectively contributed to making the platform increasingly
- 1:45versatile. A Musk emphasized that these
- 1:47updates are part of an ongoing process, and over time, users
- 1:51can expect the platform to continuously adapt and offer new
- 1:54functionalities, and these updates will roll out in phases
- 1:58as mentioned in various reports from around the Twittersphere.
- 2:02Now, the company meeting also touched on X's role in
- 2:05supporting content creators like myself.
- 2:07And according to Musk, the platform has paid out over $20
- 2:10million to Creator since the middle of the current year.
- 2:13And the number of creators participating in the platform
- 2:15has also seen a substantial uptick In the context of
- 2:19advertising must discuss revenue sharing schemes that have
- 2:22positively impacted many creators.
- 2:24The platform's progressive strategies are designed to
- 2:27attract a growing community of talented individuals, and as the
- 2:31number of creators expands, Musk anticipates that the payout
- 2:34figure will also rise considerably.
- 2:37Moreover, the revenue share from ads has become a game changer
- 2:41for many creators. With such financial incentives,
- 2:44X is set to become an increasingly attractive
- 2:46destination for content creators.
- 2:48Now, another significant revelation was the introduction
- 2:51of X hiring, a feature designed to compete directly with
- 2:56LinkedIn. Companies will be able to post
- 2:58job listings, collect resumes, and update candidates on their
- 3:02application status. And Musk expressed his own
- 3:05history of recruiting on the platform and how X hiring will
- 3:08be an ideal space for both employers and job seekers.
- 3:12Through the feature, X aims to transform into a professional
- 3:15networking platform, Musk highlighted the platform's
- 3:18potential to become a hub for talent acquisition and job
- 3:21placement. And with X hiring, the company
- 3:24has set its sights on revolutionizing how individuals
- 3:27search for jobs and how companies find the right talent.
- 3:30And live video streaming is another feature that Musk plans
- 3:34to integrate into the platform. He believes that live video
- 3:37could be particularly useful for various public events, including
- 3:41sports and political activities and things like Spacex's rocket
- 3:45launches of the new Starship that should be launching in a
- 3:48few months now. And rather than relying on
- 3:50traditional media outlets, users will be able to watch live
- 3:54streams directly from the scene. And in addition, Musk hinted at
- 3:57a dating feature called X Dating.
- 4:00While the specifics are still under wraps, it's clear that X
- 4:04aims to become a platform where people can forge connections of
- 4:07all kinds, including romantic ones, and this proposed
- 4:10functionality reflects Musk's ambition to make X an
- 4:13all-encompassing platform for social engagement.
- 4:17And during this meeting, Musk also floated the idea of
- 4:19converting X into a subscription service, costing just $1.00 per
- 4:23year. This proposed change aims to
- 4:25combat the problem of AI bots manipulating the platform, and
- 4:29Musk defended the affordability of the subscription, calculating
- 4:32it down to mere cents per day. Finally, the company also has
- 4:36plans to introduce X Wire, a news distribution service that
- 4:40could challenge established platforms like PR Newswire.
- 4:44Musk sees this as a logical step considering the platform's
- 4:47extensive reach and the user engagement of X.
- 4:51Also, don't forget about XS platform for banking.
- 4:55We're not sure what that is going to be about in the future.
- 4:58Is it going to be all digital? Is going to be crypto?
- 5:00Will you be able to get a debit card or a credit card through X?
- 5:03That wasn't mentioned in this call, so we'll keep you up to
- 5:07date with that as soon as we hear something.
