- 0:00Speaker 1: The Force will be with you always.
- 0:18Speaker 2: Hello, and welcome back to another episode of Star Wars Alliance.
- 0:24Speaker 2: Of course I'm your host, Clay, and with me not
- 0:28Speaker 2: like every single week because we weren't here is of
- 0:32Speaker 2: course Katie. Now Katie had a very good excuse, I say, excuse,
- 0:39Speaker 2: a very good reason to not be here. Surgery recovery
- 0:43Speaker 2: is very important and we need to take care of ourselves.
- 0:46Speaker 3: So yes, And it ended up being more extensive than
- 0:51Speaker 3: the doctor thought it was going to be. So I
- 0:54Speaker 3: was on pain killers for a hot minute, but they
- 0:59Speaker 3: were like tour it all, which is like heavy duty
- 1:02Speaker 3: tailand all. Yeah, so it was not like super bad,
- 1:07Speaker 3: but like I was walking around with an ice pack
- 1:10Speaker 3: and enjoying my lovely And because it was more extensive,
- 1:15Speaker 3: he originally told me, oh, it's going to be three
- 1:17Speaker 3: to four weeks before you can lift heavier than twenty pounds.
- 1:22Speaker 3: It was actually now it's going to be four to
- 1:25Speaker 3: six weeks. So I still can't pick up Maara. I
- 1:29Speaker 3: won't be able to pick up Maria until Christmas.
- 1:32Speaker 2: Oh no, that sucks.
- 1:37Speaker 3: I'm kind of dying inside a little bit.
- 1:40Speaker 2: No, I get that. I Uh. Abby was the same
- 1:47Speaker 2: way with her gallbladder removal. So they were like, hey,
- 1:54Speaker 2: since this happened all of a sudden, we're just letting,
- 1:58Speaker 2: you know, don't pick up anything heavy. And we're like,
- 2:01Speaker 2: we have a somewhat newborn, Like what do we do
- 2:06Speaker 2: and they're like, yeah, so don't do it. You know.
- 2:09Speaker 2: I'm like, oh crap. So that was fun, but I'm
- 2:15Speaker 2: glad you're doing.
- 2:15Speaker 3: Okay, yes, I'm doing it.
- 2:18Speaker 2: You know, keep doing what you're doing. And so, yeah,
- 2:23Speaker 2: we have some news for you guys. And I actually
- 2:27Speaker 2: have some news of my own, which it's crazy. I
- 2:33Speaker 2: didn't know that we were going to do this, and
- 2:35Speaker 2: then we're like, hey, we kind of need to do
- 2:38Speaker 2: this to get wind of you know, get people excited
- 2:41Speaker 2: for it, get people invested in it. So, guys, I've
- 2:47Speaker 2: been teasing something for a very long time that I've
- 2:50Speaker 2: been working on and I finally get to say what
- 2:53Speaker 2: it is last Friday.
- 2:58Speaker 3: Yeah, I think it was Friday.
- 3:00Speaker 2: Either last Friday or last Thursday. I was able to
- 3:04Speaker 2: finally soft pre launch my website. And you're probably thinking,
- 3:14Speaker 2: what kind of website? What kind of website is that?
- 3:17Speaker 2: It's not going to be a website, it's going to
- 3:19Speaker 2: be more of a platform. I am taking on the
- 3:26Speaker 2: very daunting undertaking of creating a platform specifically for comic
- 3:34Speaker 2: book audio dramas. I have already been working with a
- 3:39Speaker 2: studio that is creating samples for publishers that are interested
- 3:42Speaker 2: in doing so. But yeah, it will have its own website,
- 3:47Speaker 2: it will have its own app, and it's gonna be
- 3:53Speaker 2: really fun. I'm really excited to get publishers on board
- 3:57Speaker 2: and to have a real cool UI that I have
- 4:02Speaker 2: been planning out. Katie actually has given me some advice
- 4:08Speaker 2: on how to, you know, publish this first landing page
- 4:11Speaker 2: and things like that, and the entire GUA has kind
- 4:16Speaker 2: of had a small hand in preparing for my soft launch,
- 4:19Speaker 2: which is really really fun. It's been It's been something
- 4:22Speaker 2: that I've been wanting to do for about ten years
- 4:24Speaker 2: now and having the ability to do it now is
- 4:29Speaker 2: really crazy. And when I say it's an undertaking for sure,
- 4:35Speaker 2: when you look at the total library of comic books
- 4:40Speaker 2: all in existence versus how many of those have audio books,
- 4:45Speaker 2: there's nothing there. It's bear there is maybe a small
- 4:50Speaker 2: handful in the grand scheme of things. When you look
- 4:55Speaker 2: at novels, you know you have a total of two
- 4:59Speaker 2: to four million books that are published every single year.
- 5:03Speaker 2: There's about seven thousand to ten thousand of those that
- 5:06Speaker 2: get audiobooks. That's less than one percent. There's not even well,
- 5:14Speaker 2: I think there is a total of less than one
- 5:16Speaker 2: percent now, like in total of all the audiobooks that
- 5:20Speaker 2: are there for comics now, but to keep up with
- 5:24Speaker 2: that of the book market, it's non existent. And so
- 5:30Speaker 2: I want to make it an established norm to have
- 5:35Speaker 2: audiobooks or audio dramas for comic books. This is more
- 5:39Speaker 2: so not only for comic book fans or for the
- 5:43Speaker 2: audiobook fans, but most importantly for a whole group of
- 5:49Speaker 2: individuals that have never been able to pick up a
- 5:51Speaker 2: comic book, with the vision impaired and blind communities. It's
- 5:56Speaker 2: very important to me. It's what really brought about the
- 5:59Speaker 2: entire idea of this. When I first worked out a
- 6:01Speaker 2: comic shop, I helped a deaf individual find the Teenage
- 6:07Speaker 2: Mutant Ninja Turtle book that he was looking for, and
- 6:10Speaker 2: while he was looking at the pages, I just thought, well,
- 6:14Speaker 2: if a deaf person can enjoy a comic, how does
- 6:16Speaker 2: a blind person enjoy the comic? And that's what sparked
- 6:20Speaker 2: it all. And so now I'm getting to go on
- 6:23Speaker 2: that journey and we'll see how it goes. It's very exciting.
- 6:32Speaker 2: I can't share too much because we are still in
- 6:34Speaker 2: the building stage. We have an idea of when we
- 6:39Speaker 2: want to launch, but all of that will become more
- 6:43Speaker 2: and more of like public information as time goes on.
- 6:49Speaker 2: But if any of you are interested in this concept,
- 6:56Speaker 2: please go visit the website volumecomics dot com and sign
- 7:01Speaker 2: up for our email list that will tell you when
- 7:06Speaker 2: beta is ready, when our official launch is being planned,
- 7:10Speaker 2: and things like that. And it also helps us gauge,
- 7:14Speaker 2: you know, the overall interest to this. We know that
- 7:17Speaker 2: there's three to four huge communities that are you know,
- 7:23Speaker 2: really where this is driven. But we want to actually
- 7:27Speaker 2: be able to show these investors and these publishers like, hey, look,
- 7:31Speaker 2: this is what people want. So if you guys could
- 7:34Speaker 2: do that for me, that would be greatly appreciated. But
- 7:39Speaker 2: enough about men going to Star Wars, because again, on
- 7:44Speaker 2: Wednesdays we wear Star Wars. I didn't want, sir.
- 7:50Speaker 3: I got so many compliments at my doctor's appointment and
- 7:54Speaker 3: they're like, dude, I love your shirt, Like where did
- 7:56Speaker 3: you get it? I was like, I don't know. If
- 7:58Speaker 3: my husband got it for me, that's awesome. So I
- 8:01Speaker 3: did just want to talk quickly before we dive into
- 8:04Speaker 3: our one news topic over November. Already things have released
- 8:10Speaker 3: into the wild for Star Wars, and I've thought I'm
- 8:13Speaker 3: right here, so I wanted to quickly talk about them.
- 8:18Speaker 3: The first is Master of Evil. It released last Tuesday,
- 8:23Speaker 3: November eleventh. I don't have a dust jacket on this,
- 8:28Speaker 3: so if you're on YouTube, I apologize. I don't keep
- 8:30Speaker 3: my Dutch jackets. But we have already reviewed this. We
- 8:35Speaker 3: plan on going back to it at some point because
- 8:38Speaker 3: I need. I need to go back to it and
- 8:41Speaker 3: recalibrate my thoughts. If you have listened to our review
- 8:43Speaker 3: episode that is out already, Clay is going to link
- 8:47Speaker 3: it in the description box below for you guys, if
- 8:51Speaker 3: you were interested, obviously, it's only been out a week.
- 8:54Speaker 3: I don't blame you if you don't want to listen
- 8:55Speaker 3: to a review episode. I don't listen to review episodes
- 8:58Speaker 3: or read reviews before we do. Review is here unless
- 9:01Speaker 3: I know we're not doing it for a hot minute,
- 9:04Speaker 3: so feel free to come back to it, though you
- 9:07Speaker 3: can always come back to it. The next one is
- 9:10Speaker 3: Path of the Lightsaber, which is a sequel trilogy original
- 9:17Speaker 3: story that is a manga. It is the first manga
- 9:22Speaker 3: in the series. This is by Kenney Ruiz. He did
- 9:27Speaker 3: the story uh and apparently the art published by Viz Media.
- 9:33Speaker 3: So if you guys are interested in mangas, we will
- 9:35Speaker 3: be reviewing this in December. Date to be determined, but
- 9:42Speaker 3: you will have a review come December. We're just talking
- 9:45Speaker 3: about Visions because Visions is kind of a bigger topic
- 9:49Speaker 3: at the moment, but definitely check this out. I have
- 9:53Speaker 3: not gotten to read it yet, but I am very excited.
- 9:56Speaker 3: It is in like my tow b red pile on
- 9:58Speaker 3: my desk.
- 10:00Speaker 2: I am halfway through this. I really enjoy the artwork
- 10:03Speaker 2: of this book. I was actually able to get this
- 10:07Speaker 2: like a week in advance at Barnes and Noble. I
- 10:13Speaker 2: was there literally to pre order it and they're like,
- 10:16Speaker 2: we have literally one copy and you can have it.
- 10:19Speaker 2: And I was like what, and they're like, yeah, they
- 10:22Speaker 2: actually don't have an embargo date for this book. So
- 10:25Speaker 2: it's a plus that if you always go to the
- 10:27Speaker 2: actual physical store to ask about books, because they could
- 10:31Speaker 2: give it to you. So I was able to purchase
- 10:33Speaker 2: this a week in advance.
- 10:35Speaker 3: Barnes and Noble is known to do this. Obviously, it's
- 10:38Speaker 3: not the best thing in the world.
- 10:41Speaker 2: No, it's not. And I will always say.
- 10:45Speaker 3: I can't blame you for taking advantage of it because
- 10:47Speaker 3: I was searching for high republic books.
- 10:50Speaker 2: Well yeah, yeah, I will always say, Hey, go to
- 10:53Speaker 2: your local bookstore to pre order books. This me, Abby
- 11:01Speaker 2: and amber Lyn just so happened to be in the
- 11:05Speaker 2: mall that the bookstore Barnes and Noble was attached to,
- 11:11Speaker 2: and so as we were leaving, I was like, Hey,
- 11:13Speaker 2: I just want to see, you know, if they will
- 11:16Speaker 2: even be picking this up, because I don't know if
- 11:20Speaker 2: my particular local bookstore really orders mangas. Yeah. Uh. And
- 11:26Speaker 2: so that was kind of like my thing or my
- 11:30Speaker 2: reasoning why I just wanted to stop at Barnes and
- 11:32Speaker 2: Noble rather than driving another fifteen to twenty minutes to
- 11:37Speaker 2: a comic shop to pre order it that day.
- 11:40Speaker 3: Yeah, I don't have a local bookstore, so I can't
- 11:44Speaker 3: blame me for going to Barns and Noble. The other
- 11:48Speaker 3: thing that released Guys is Bad Batched Ghost Agent's Trade,
- 11:55Speaker 3: and I have this on the schedule for us to
- 11:58Speaker 3: review next year. But I tend to order all of
- 12:05Speaker 3: my stuff in advance, like for the release dates, so
- 12:10Speaker 3: I don't get lost. And I followed the If you
- 12:13Speaker 3: guys are interested in keeping track of Star Wars publishing
- 12:18Speaker 3: media different varieties, I always go to uteni dot com
- 12:23Speaker 3: to look at the release schedule, and that's how I
- 12:25Speaker 3: do all of my ordering is I go, Okay, what's
- 12:28Speaker 3: coming out this month, let me get it ordered. So
- 12:34Speaker 3: that's how you new. And obviously we've already said this,
- 12:37Speaker 3: but Clay and I received Master of Evil from Random
- 12:41Speaker 3: House Worlds, so we did not have to order that one,
- 12:43Speaker 3: but as always, just wanted to say thank you again,
- 12:46Speaker 3: and it did not affect our review in the slightest
- 12:48Speaker 3: because we were not We had already reviewed it by
- 12:50Speaker 3: the time we got the physical copy.
- 12:52Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 12:52Speaker 3: So, but that is what I have in my pile.
- 12:57Speaker 3: And those are like the bigger ticket items for Star
- 13:00Speaker 3: Wars that aren't like research guides or anything. Because I
- 13:07Speaker 3: don't personally order a bunch of those. I pick and
- 13:09Speaker 3: choose the research, non canon, nonfiction things. Yeah, I pick
- 13:16Speaker 3: and choose what I want off of that list, and
- 13:18Speaker 3: I don't order those in advance. So that is the
- 13:21Speaker 3: fiction things that have released that are big and not
- 13:26Speaker 3: like individual comic issues. So with that the news topic.
- 13:40Speaker 2: We have I think two pieces of news.
- 13:47Speaker 3: Maybe I thought we were just talking Young Jedi Adventures.
- 13:51Speaker 2: Okay, so yeah, let's go ahead and jump into that.
- 13:54Speaker 2: So the I hate this new update to Twitter.
- 14:00Speaker 3: It is the worst thing.
- 14:02Speaker 2: It is the worst thing because I just like I
- 14:04Speaker 2: noticed about two days ago, if you keep scrolling through
- 14:08Speaker 2: your feed, the bottom buttons disappear.
- 14:13Speaker 3: Yeah I can, and then you like scroll.
- 14:15Speaker 2: Like up and down a couple times to try and
- 14:18Speaker 2: like find it again, and then they magically just reappear.
- 14:20Speaker 3: I can no longer send links to a chat. I
- 14:23Speaker 3: have to copy the link and then go to the
- 14:25Speaker 3: chat then send the link. This is probably my final
- 14:28Speaker 3: stralla Twitter because like I have literally lugged into Twitter
- 14:32Speaker 3: like twice since this updates.
- 14:37Speaker 2: It's pretty gross. I don't like it at all. But
- 14:41Speaker 2: we did get a trailer for Young Jedi Adventures Season
- 14:48Speaker 2: three is coming to Disney Plus on December eighth, so
- 14:55Speaker 2: something that was also well, no, I don't think it
- 15:00Speaker 2: was on the schedule, and then we're like, oh, it's
- 15:04Speaker 2: like did not they.
- 15:06Speaker 3: Said it was supposed to be coming out in Winter
- 15:09Speaker 3: twenty five, so we knew it was supposed to be
- 15:12Speaker 3: coming out, but honestly I forgot about it. So it's
- 15:16Speaker 3: coming out of December eighth. The trailer is out there
- 15:19Speaker 3: if anybody wants to take a look at it. Obviously,
- 15:22Speaker 3: this is a can show. The plot points aren't super huge,
- 15:27Speaker 3: but it's a really cool story. The characters are super awesome.
- 15:33Speaker 3: So it was also announced that on December eighth, every
- 15:37Speaker 3: single episode of season three is dropping, which has not
- 15:40Speaker 3: happened previously. They had been released in parts, so like, yeah, episodes,
- 15:45Speaker 3: twelve episodes, so the whole entire thing is releasing, which
- 15:49Speaker 3: makes me think it's only probably about twelve episodes, But I.
- 15:55Speaker 2: Wonder if this also indicates that it's the last season.
- 15:58Speaker 3: They did state that it is the last season, and
- 16:02Speaker 3: in the trailer you can actually see the older characters
- 16:09Speaker 3: and they have Padawan braids. Oh so like we're gonna
- 16:14Speaker 3: get to see them become Patawans and everything. Though I imagine
- 16:18Speaker 3: that's going to take place, like we're gonna get like
- 16:21Speaker 3: a future post credit ending shot basically, but it is
- 16:28Speaker 3: going to be the last season, which kind of makes
- 16:30Speaker 3: me sad because apparently Disney Plush just has like, oh,
- 16:36Speaker 3: everything must end in sets of three yeah at the moment,
- 16:42Speaker 3: because like uh bad Badge Mando, Like the max they
- 16:49Speaker 3: have been given is three seasons, and probably the Darth
- 16:52Speaker 3: Maul show Shadow Lord is also probably going to be
- 16:56Speaker 3: three seasons. And I'm like, this is a kid show.
- 17:01Speaker 3: You could have literally taken this and just run and
- 17:04Speaker 3: run and run. You really could have, because there is
- 17:10Speaker 3: no major plot to it. There is no like, oh,
- 17:12Speaker 3: we're going to get to the Nihill like yeah, no.
- 17:16Speaker 2: I kind of wonder because I've never actually gone that
- 17:20Speaker 2: extensive with like the fact that you know, the other
- 17:26Speaker 2: shows of this variety that of like PJ. Mask and
- 17:31Speaker 2: Spider Man and Friends, Like I haven't done my research
- 17:36Speaker 2: to know how many seasons those are, so looking at
- 17:43Speaker 2: it now, PJ Mask has a total of five seasons,
- 17:50Speaker 2: the fifth season having twenty five episodes. So I do
- 17:57Speaker 2: feel like this show could have still like gone on
- 18:00Speaker 2: to do more and more, and the same thing for
- 18:04Speaker 2: like I.
- 18:05Speaker 3: Said, Meaty the Amazing Friends, which is a shorts, they
- 18:11Speaker 3: have four seasons with ten episodes.
- 18:14Speaker 2: Well it says Spidey and the Amazing Friends, Oh yeah, yeah,
- 18:20Speaker 2: that is four seasons.
- 18:21Speaker 3: Yeah, oh that's the shorts. Okay, there's still four seasons
- 18:25Speaker 3: for the actual episodes. Yeah, it's still ten episodes.
- 18:30Speaker 2: Yeah. And then there's a new one called Iron Man
- 18:37Speaker 2: and Awesome Friends. Yeah, that one just started. Yeah, that
- 18:41Speaker 2: one just started. But like, it's all the same animation style,
- 18:46Speaker 2: it's all the same kind of like Saturday Morning type
- 18:50Speaker 2: of rhetoric. And so like these and and again, like
- 18:59Speaker 2: the biggest change when it comes to these types of
- 19:04Speaker 2: shows and viewing of the public is most of these
- 19:10Speaker 2: shows really like we're focused on getting syndication. H right,
- 19:17Speaker 2: so you're looking at, oh, one hundred episodes every single show,
- 19:21Speaker 2: then you're able to throw it into any other network
- 19:24Speaker 2: and start generating revenue. Most you know, networks don't do
- 19:30Speaker 2: that anymore because most networks have their own streaming service.
- 19:36Speaker 2: But still, like, these shows are popular with the very
- 19:42Speaker 2: small community. When I say small, I mean not as
- 19:45Speaker 2: in like numbers wise, but I mean like literally small
- 19:49Speaker 2: baby children communities. They love them. Yeah, so it's a shame.
- 19:57Speaker 3: It is a shame. I am interested to see I
- 20:00Speaker 3: they will have another kids show type of thing pop
- 20:06Speaker 3: up or if they're really just kind of cycling down
- 20:12Speaker 3: on Lucasfilm's productions, Like I know one of the things
- 20:18Speaker 3: we're going to talk about next week is like they're saying, like,
- 20:21Speaker 3: with the Ninth Jedi series, Lucasfilm is stepping in more
- 20:25Speaker 3: and you said, like, oh, this makes me concerned. But
- 20:28Speaker 3: at the same time, with what we know about the
- 20:31Speaker 3: Hunt for Been Solo script is the issues with Star Wars, Disney,
- 20:35Speaker 3: smalt Or Lucasfilm's fault.
- 20:38Speaker 2: So yeah, like it the reason the reason why I'm
- 20:44Speaker 2: saying I'm worried for Lucasfilm's involvement in the Ninth Jedi
- 20:51Speaker 2: is more so, Hey, we want to change things creatively.
- 20:57Speaker 2: That's what I'm not okay with, Like, yeah, Jedi has
- 21:01Speaker 2: a pretty solid story already being told, Like I don't
- 21:06Speaker 2: need Lucasfilm to think like, oh, let's americanize it and
- 21:10Speaker 2: that'll make it better. Like yeah, I don't like that
- 21:13Speaker 2: type of agenda for Lucasfilm if they step in to
- 21:17Speaker 2: be like, hey, we have the bigger budgets to help
- 21:22Speaker 2: you tell the story that you want to tell. Hey,
- 21:25Speaker 2: right on, let's do it. That's what I want the
- 21:27Speaker 2: involvement of Lucasfilm to be. But anything more than that,
- 21:33Speaker 2: I think is kind of it might be a bad idea.
- 21:36Speaker 3: And that does make sense. I was just bringing that
- 21:39Speaker 3: up as an example. Yeah. So yeah, are we ready
- 21:46Speaker 3: to dive into our part two of Volume Visions, Volume
- 21:51Speaker 3: three dop dive.
- 21:53Speaker 2: Yes, yes we are. Now my question to you is
- 21:56Speaker 2: are we going to go in viewing order? Because if
- 22:00Speaker 2: that is, that would be Yuko's Treasure, the Smuggler, and
- 22:03Speaker 2: then the Bird of Paradise, or would you like to
- 22:06Speaker 2: take one over the other when it comes to what
- 22:10Speaker 2: is first, second, or third?
- 22:16Speaker 3: I picked last week, you need to pick this week.
- 22:20Speaker 2: Okay, well I think let's go. So so here's here's
- 22:26Speaker 2: the other thing. Also, I think that we were totally
- 22:30Speaker 2: different in our ranking of this of these three. So
- 22:42Speaker 2: I had the uh Bird of Paradise as number uh seven.
- 22:53Speaker 3: I need to go back and write my ranking stone
- 22:57Speaker 3: because I didn't write my rankingsteck.
- 22:58Speaker 2: Yeah you were, you were going off the cuff. Yeah yeah,
- 23:01Speaker 2: So like bird, the Bird of Paradise is like my
- 23:04Speaker 2: least favorite, whereas I think you had it a little
- 23:10Speaker 2: bit higher up on your life. So so like in
- 23:15Speaker 2: my rankings, I have the Smuggler being the highest at four,
- 23:22Speaker 2: then you goes Treasure at six, and then Paradise at seven,
- 23:30Speaker 2: So it really doesn't matter to me. I like all
- 23:34Speaker 2: of these in their own individual ways, but when it
- 23:39Speaker 2: comes to like the conversation pieces, I'll say this, I
- 23:43Speaker 2: want to you know, I'm making up my mind. The
- 23:45Speaker 2: Bird of Paradise I want last. I want the Bird
- 23:48Speaker 2: of Paradise to be last, because it's the one that
- 23:59Speaker 2: I felt I needed a third viewing because I watched
- 24:03Speaker 2: it and then I immediately rewound it and started watching
- 24:06Speaker 2: it again. Yeah, I gave.
- 24:07Speaker 3: All these three viewings. That's a piece. So I did
- 24:13Speaker 3: the initial watch and then I went through and kind
- 24:16Speaker 3: of took notes, and then the third one I just
- 24:18Speaker 3: was like, okay, let's reabsorb, not do anything.
- 24:22Speaker 2: So yeah, so in that case, what I want to do.
- 24:26Speaker 2: The Smuggler is only nineteen minutes, and Yuko's Treasure is
- 24:30Speaker 2: twenty four minutes. Let's jump into the Smuggler. It's the
- 24:33Speaker 2: shortest one, and honestly, when you watch it, it really
- 24:39Speaker 2: does feel like such a quick watch.
- 24:43Speaker 3: It really does. And we can go ahead and go
- 24:45Speaker 3: ahead and get into the non swellers for the Smuggler,
- 24:49Speaker 3: because I know we want to try to do like
- 24:52Speaker 3: a quick snippet for social media. Yes, so The Smuggler
- 24:58Speaker 3: is a production by Trigger and my non spoiler review,
- 25:04Speaker 3: I really do enjoy Cheetah as a character, but I
- 25:08Speaker 3: felt like I needed more interpretation of some of the
- 25:13Speaker 3: things going on in the episode. Gleanu is a highlight
- 25:19Speaker 3: for me. I love Gleanu so much. I have like
- 25:23Speaker 3: in my notes section, I have Gleanu Glenu Gleanu like
- 25:26Speaker 3: four times because I just I love her. I love
- 25:32Speaker 3: when an older woman gets to be a showcase. It'd
- 25:35Speaker 3: be a badass. And so I loved that highlight here.
- 25:42Speaker 3: I definitely struggled with everything else in it. Though I
- 25:49Speaker 3: do enjoy Cheatah as a character, but just the episode
- 25:53Speaker 3: as a whole, I felt like I needed more details,
- 25:57Speaker 3: Like I felt like there was times where they chose
- 26:00Speaker 3: to focus on action sequence and should have focused on
- 26:06Speaker 3: some character character development.
- 26:08Speaker 2: Yeah, so I get it. I'm a little bit of
- 26:15Speaker 2: the opposite because I see this as only a stepping
- 26:20Speaker 2: stone into a greater world or a greater universe. And
- 26:24Speaker 2: the reason why that is is because this is one
- 26:27Speaker 2: of the only episodes and uh, this is you know,
- 26:31Speaker 2: still spoiler free, but little tidbit, this is the own
- 26:35Speaker 2: This is one of the only episodes that gives us
- 26:38Speaker 2: more information in the beginning of the episode with like, oh, hey,
- 26:46Speaker 2: this is what's going on in the universe right now
- 26:48Speaker 2: type of ordeal.
- 26:50Speaker 3: It sounds like an opening crawl.
- 26:52Speaker 2: It it is, But again we talked about it when
- 26:55Speaker 2: we were doing our rankings. There's not a whole lot
- 26:59Speaker 2: of opening crawls in this nine episode season of Visions.
- 27:04Speaker 2: There's this one, and then there is the Song of
- 27:11Speaker 2: the Four Wings. That's really all that has the opening crawl.
- 27:18Speaker 2: So I do think, well, now that I think about it,
- 27:25Speaker 2: does the Ninth Jedi have an opening quarrel?
- 27:28Speaker 3: I do not, remember. I have tried to avoid watching it.
- 27:33Speaker 2: I know, I'm avoiding all the sequel stuff so I
- 27:36Speaker 2: can have it fresh when we actually do that on
- 27:39Speaker 2: our part three of Deep Dives. But this one I
- 27:43Speaker 2: I didn't. I really enjoyed the like establishing the universe.
- 27:52Speaker 2: That was like the big highlight for me in like
- 27:57Speaker 2: really just looking at this at the baseline. And I
- 28:02Speaker 2: also really enjoy an elder badass. The The reason why
- 28:11Speaker 2: that is is because it's something that's it's a little
- 28:16Speaker 2: bit of a trope in the anime kind of genre.
- 28:21Speaker 2: Because you see it as, oh, that person is like that,
- 28:28Speaker 2: that person's never going to be a problem because they're
- 28:31Speaker 2: an old decrepit, like they're non threatening, and then there's
- 28:38Speaker 2: always a jaw dropping moment when you finally realize, oh, crap,
- 28:43Speaker 2: they're the biggest threats right now. And that's what she
- 28:50Speaker 2: becomes in a very quick, like two like minute segment
- 28:57Speaker 2: of this nineteen minute short. And I love it, I
- 29:03Speaker 2: genuinely do.
- 29:06Speaker 4: And that's like my thing ultimately, and kind of moving
- 29:12Speaker 4: into the spoiler territory, like I do understand what you're
- 29:15Speaker 4: saying about and building into a bigger universe and a
- 29:18Speaker 4: bigger galaxy.
- 29:20Speaker 3: I felt like this was basically like a planet in
- 29:24Speaker 3: the middle of the Rebellion timeframe, because we get the
- 29:28Speaker 3: stuff about the Empire in the the opening crawl scene,
- 29:36Speaker 3: but then we get a yavin For appearance at the end,
- 29:38Speaker 3: and obviously it's not said to be yavin For, but
- 29:42Speaker 3: it looks.
- 29:42Speaker 2: Like it's almost shot for shot, you know.
- 29:46Speaker 3: So I love getting gavin For in things because I
- 29:49Speaker 3: feel like the connection there before ant Or season two
- 29:53Speaker 3: had been almost non existent. Everybody wanted to kind of
- 29:56Speaker 3: ignore yabin For as a whole. Uh, but you talk
- 30:01Speaker 3: about the action scene with Gleno, and yes, I love
- 30:04Speaker 3: that action scene, but then like the space sequence at
- 30:09Speaker 3: the end, and maybe it's just the animation style, but
- 30:15Speaker 3: I did not like it, Like it looks completely different
- 30:19Speaker 3: to the rest of the episode. It looks it doesn't
- 30:24Speaker 3: it doesn't match up with what I have expectations in
- 30:28Speaker 3: for how the rest of Visions has done space sequences
- 30:34Speaker 3: and so like, to me, that was also a big
- 30:38Speaker 3: attractor because you spend probably three minutes in space and
- 30:43Speaker 3: doing the fight with the Bounty Hunter and the Star
- 30:47Speaker 3: Destroyer and everything, but it looks so bad and I
- 30:52Speaker 3: feel like, if you're going to devote that much time
- 30:54Speaker 3: to it, I would at least like the visuals to
- 30:59Speaker 3: be a better quality in my opinion, and I'm not
- 31:04Speaker 3: typically one to nitpick on visuals, but I did feel
- 31:09Speaker 3: like the lightsaber stuff with GLENUW was to trap, like,
- 31:13Speaker 3: wasn't the best. But I also love Glee New so
- 31:17Speaker 3: I was willing to kind of step past that one.
- 31:20Speaker 3: But the space stuff, we don't do a whole lot
- 31:22Speaker 3: of stuff with the space stuff.
- 31:24Speaker 2: Well, and I was I was literally just looking at it.
- 31:26Speaker 2: So the moment they get into the ship is at
- 31:30Speaker 2: twelve minutes twenty eight seconds. The moment they fly away
- 31:37Speaker 2: from the star destroyer is at thirteen minutes forty nine seconds,
- 31:46Speaker 2: so it's only a minute in twenty seconds.
- 31:49Speaker 3: Now, the thing is, I feel like it's like four minutes.
- 31:53Speaker 2: I was like, well, and the thing is, which is
- 31:57Speaker 2: I think it may have just been a small a
- 32:00Speaker 2: like thing of like just forgetting to render a different
- 32:06Speaker 2: color of the sky or whatever, because they've already broken
- 32:11Speaker 2: the atmosphere, but the sky is still bright blue as
- 32:16Speaker 2: if they are under the atmosphere of this planet. Yeah,
- 32:21Speaker 2: the deep space, you know.
- 32:24Speaker 3: And it may have been that factor because the Prince
- 32:27Speaker 3: tells her to turn around and like change course and stuff.
- 32:31Speaker 3: So I feel like it was more of an exploration
- 32:33Speaker 3: into the Prince at that point. But to me, the
- 32:37Speaker 3: main character in this is not the Prince. It's Cheetah.
- 32:41Speaker 2: Yeah, and you.
- 32:43Speaker 3: Didn't dive into that of like you just kind of said, oh, okay,
- 32:47Speaker 3: we can fly, but like great, we already kind of
- 32:50Speaker 3: knew that because she's a smuggler and she's wanted by
- 32:53Speaker 3: the Empire, like of course she can fly kind of thing.
- 32:57Speaker 3: So to me, there's a lot left up that that's
- 33:04Speaker 3: like wanting in this. I'm trying to think if like
- 33:08Speaker 3: any of the Like, I loved a lot of stuff
- 33:11Speaker 3: about this, Like I we got swearing in this. I
- 33:14Speaker 3: thought the bounty hunter looked cool.
- 33:19Speaker 2: And like I like, well, go ahead, sorry.
- 33:26Speaker 3: And then I liked a lot about like Cheetah's interaction
- 33:29Speaker 3: with glean New and stuff like I highlighted like we jump,
- 33:32Speaker 3: we break through, like kind of mirroring each other in
- 33:36Speaker 3: that instance when Cheetah jumps the speeder off the bridge
- 33:39Speaker 3: and then Cleaner's like we break through, Like they both
- 33:42Speaker 3: kind of had the same reaction to each other. And
- 33:44Speaker 3: I dug that. I dug a lot about this. I'm
- 33:47Speaker 3: not saying the episode is completely bad. I'm just saying,
- 33:49Speaker 3: like this is why it doesn't hit for me.
- 33:53Speaker 2: Yeah, I do like one. The one thing that we've
- 33:58Speaker 2: kept saying about Visions as a whole is that these
- 34:05Speaker 2: creators and studios are taking like deep root inspiration directly
- 34:11Speaker 2: from the original trilogy. The fact that we see the
- 34:16Speaker 2: Prince and a Jedi is literally a playoff of Luke
- 34:21Speaker 2: in obi Wan, Like, yeah, something that we didn't mention
- 34:24Speaker 2: in our rakings because of course, this is more of
- 34:26Speaker 2: a deep dive. I like that. I do like that
- 34:29Speaker 2: it's you know, a tongue in cheek, you know, nod
- 34:33Speaker 2: to original trilogy, where not a lot of people would
- 34:36Speaker 2: really probably think that at face value because they're just
- 34:39Speaker 2: seeing new characters, but you know, these people are creating
- 34:50Speaker 2: these things for a certain reason. I also like the
- 34:57Speaker 2: the interactions between Cheetah and Glinu. Is that our name? Yeah? Uh?
- 35:06Speaker 2: More so because of the age gap between the two,
- 35:14Speaker 2: you can kind of hear, like, especially in the very
- 35:18Speaker 2: beginning when they first have their interaction of like, oh
- 35:22Speaker 2: you have trouble with the with the empire, it's like, oh, yeah,
- 35:25Speaker 2: just like you. And it's it's funny, not just because
- 35:29Speaker 2: like oh they're both you know, probably gonna get in
- 35:32Speaker 2: trouble for this, but like when you really look at it,
- 35:35Speaker 2: it's like, hey, I'm I'm I may be old, but
- 35:40Speaker 2: like I'm not stupid, Like i I'm I know that
- 35:43Speaker 2: like going with you is probably gonna be better than
- 35:47Speaker 2: trying to do this on my own type of thing.
- 35:51Speaker 2: I do feel like a little eye rolly at like
- 35:57Speaker 2: when the Prince uh jumped in to like save the
- 36:03Speaker 2: crowd and everything, because it's so funny because the Prince
- 36:09Speaker 2: is literally an amalgam between not only Luke Skywalker, but
- 36:12Speaker 2: with Princess Leigh as well. It's all in one. You
- 36:15Speaker 2: get that one, you get both characters in the one.
- 36:19Speaker 3: This is basically like if Luke went alder On instead
- 36:24Speaker 3: kind of feeling blonde hair.
- 36:29Speaker 5: Yeah, and I one thing that I definitely noticed on
- 36:37Speaker 5: this second view is like, I don't know if this
- 36:42Speaker 5: entire short like struggles because it's essentially just the chase scene,
- 36:51Speaker 5: you know.
- 36:52Speaker 3: And that might be my ultimate hang up is because
- 36:58Speaker 3: it's the chase scene. It's supposed to feel very much
- 37:03Speaker 3: like like a new Hope. Like you said, it's the
- 37:06Speaker 3: callback to a new hope, like, hey, we've got to
- 37:09Speaker 3: get out of here, but there's stormtroopers at my ship.
- 37:12Speaker 3: We've got to figure this out. And I don't feel
- 37:16Speaker 3: like it does it quite as well because it just
- 37:19Speaker 3: spends a lot of time in the chase.
- 37:21Speaker 2: Yeah. Yeah, And again I think that could also help
- 37:26Speaker 2: along with its budget because when you're looking at the
- 37:30Speaker 2: chase scene, this is two D animation, guys, this isn't
- 37:33Speaker 2: three D animation. This is classic stuff. So when you're
- 37:37Speaker 2: looking at a chase scene inside of a speeder You're
- 37:40Speaker 2: only shifting a frame like a quarter of an inch
- 37:45Speaker 2: back and forth to show the actual movement from side
- 37:50Speaker 2: to side of a hovering speeder. You know, the hair
- 37:54Speaker 2: is shifting every so once in a while type thing.
- 37:57Speaker 2: I'm not saying that it's easy to do this, because
- 38:00Speaker 2: of course it's actual you know, production company everything else.
- 38:04Speaker 2: But it's easier to do this then go all out
- 38:08Speaker 2: with like a three D animation and really spend a
- 38:10Speaker 2: lot of money, you know. Yeah, So I think they're like, hey,
- 38:14Speaker 2: if we do this, it might help us out type
- 38:17Speaker 2: of work. I do like the aesthetic of the Bounty Hunter,
- 38:26Speaker 2: but when it comes to the characters, I do like
- 38:32Speaker 2: this enough to be like, hey, if there was a
- 38:36Speaker 2: sequel to this, if there was a short story that
- 38:38Speaker 2: attached to this, if there was a prequel to this,
- 38:43Speaker 2: I would, you know, invest some time into it. So
- 38:46Speaker 2: I don't think this is a bad short whatsoever. I
- 38:50Speaker 2: think it just does struggle with being like and this
- 38:55Speaker 2: is gonna sound a lot worse than I mean it
- 38:57Speaker 2: to be, but like, hey, we could phone this in,
- 39:02Speaker 2: you know yeah, And I can't agree with that because,
- 39:06Speaker 2: like I wrote down, like I would be interested in
- 39:08Speaker 2: more Cheetah because she talks about how the Empire wrecked
- 39:12Speaker 2: her planet, wrecked her family, Like I would like to
- 39:16Speaker 2: know more about that, and I feel like.
- 39:18Speaker 3: An episode two would do that, or doing the prequel
- 39:22Speaker 3: would do that obviously, so I wouldn't mind more of this.
- 39:26Speaker 3: And again I don't hate the episode. I just struggled
- 39:30Speaker 3: more with this one and it doesn't quite hit. So again,
- 39:37Speaker 3: everything after Black, we have like one through eight and
- 39:42Speaker 3: then Black is like three thousand.
- 39:46Speaker 2: It's so true though, it's so true.
- 39:50Speaker 3: I feel bad for oh my gosh, I have completely
- 39:57Speaker 3: blanked on names. Oh my, I'm up too, Adrian. Adrian. Sorry, Adrian,
- 40:04Speaker 3: we love you. I'm sorry. I'm just really bad named.
- 40:06Speaker 3: And sometimes my blind's blanks. I feel bad for Adrian
- 40:10Speaker 3: because we keep distanct on Black and I don't mean to,
- 40:12Speaker 3: but sometimes it just well.
- 40:14Speaker 2: It's just not our cup of tea, you know it is.
- 40:18Speaker 2: It's it's like asking somebody who only watches reality TV
- 40:27Speaker 2: two sit down and watch a Marvel movie. Yeah, it's
- 40:34Speaker 2: not the same. It's it's it is literally black and white.
- 40:40Speaker 2: And what what I do want to say in the
- 40:45Speaker 2: defense of Black is that it doing that type of
- 40:52Speaker 2: work is intense. It's extensive, and I give them props
- 40:59Speaker 2: for that, like doing all of that by hand, and
- 41:03Speaker 2: of course some animation or digital even if it was
- 41:07Speaker 2: by hand, like, it's still digital art and it's gonna
- 41:10Speaker 2: it's that probably took forever. So yeah, I do want
- 41:16Speaker 2: to give them props for their actual artistic style for that.
- 41:19Speaker 3: So yeah, tell us what we are going to be
- 41:30Speaker 3: talking about. So the name of the tail and the studio,
- 41:34Speaker 3: and then dive into your non spoiler.
- 41:36Speaker 2: Yes, so this is you Goo's Treasure. By Ope, I
- 41:44Speaker 2: just had it up here. Kinema Citrus is the studio
- 41:47Speaker 2: that created you Goo's Treasure. This is the same studio
- 41:51Speaker 2: that created, of course, The Village Bride and the Lost
- 41:55Speaker 2: Ones I believe is the sequel to Village Bride for
- 41:59Speaker 2: this volume of Visions. Jesus. So, my non spoiler thoughts
- 42:09Speaker 2: of this episode of Yuko's Treasure is that it truly
- 42:13Speaker 2: does feel like a piece of the Skywalker saga. I
- 42:17Speaker 2: think that's what my initial non spoiler thoughts were, is
- 42:21Speaker 2: that this truly does feel like it could already live
- 42:24Speaker 2: in the universe that we already know of Star Wars,
- 42:28Speaker 2: which is really fun and I think that there you
- 42:32Speaker 2: could probably say that a couple throughout all of like Visions,
- 42:38Speaker 2: you could probably cherry pick and be like, oh, this
- 42:40Speaker 2: one could probably be in the Skywalker saga, or this
- 42:42Speaker 2: one could, but this one already establishing like, oh, this
- 42:46Speaker 2: is tattooine, like I think that within itself, and how
- 42:50Speaker 2: just like warm and cozy you feel throughout the entire
- 42:54Speaker 2: episode really feels nostalgic, So that like is my main
- 43:04Speaker 2: like non spoiler, I do want to add to that
- 43:08Speaker 2: that the animation absolutely gorgeous because one thing that we
- 43:13Speaker 2: did mention in our rankings is that when you look
- 43:16Speaker 2: at the Village Bride, you look at this and then
- 43:19Speaker 2: you look at the lost Ones completely different. They don't
- 43:24Speaker 2: look the same. And so I really like that artistic
- 43:28Speaker 2: like creativity with one studio being able to change like that.
- 43:34Speaker 3: Yeah. On for me, I thought this has been like
- 43:39Speaker 3: all of the other Tattooy entails that we've gotten in Visions.
- 43:44Speaker 3: It's a very fun, simple tale into a family's life
- 43:50Speaker 3: Ukombilly and the sacrifices entailed in service. I do love
- 43:59Speaker 3: the visuals in Ego's Treasure. They are super nostalgic for tattooing.
- 44:05Speaker 3: You get to see the bar, you get to see
- 44:07Speaker 3: moss Isley, you get to see the deserts of Tattooine,
- 44:13Speaker 3: the Javas, Like everything feels super nostalgic. And again, like
- 44:17Speaker 3: you said, the animation done by Cannabis Citrus doesn't look
- 44:22Speaker 3: like the Village Bride. You could not have told me
- 44:25Speaker 3: before watching this. The You Goes Treasure and Lost ones
- 44:29Speaker 3: in Village Bride are done by the same studio. I
- 44:33Speaker 3: would never have guessed that because studios tend to stick
- 44:36Speaker 3: so much towards the same animation style. So I really
- 44:42Speaker 3: dug that. I also love that this is a main
- 44:46Speaker 3: thing in Star Wars' Found Family, Like at the end
- 44:50Speaker 3: of the day, that's the main theme in Star Wars
- 44:53Speaker 3: is finding your family, and so to highlight that here
- 44:56Speaker 3: is super cool. Also, there's no force representation here, Yeah,
- 45:03Speaker 3: like none at all, normal people like there was, Like.
- 45:08Speaker 2: I do feel like if people are watching this for
- 45:14Speaker 2: the very first time, people are probably anticipating it though
- 45:18Speaker 2: they're like, Okay, who who's it gonna be. Is it
- 45:21Speaker 2: gonna be you Go, Is it gonna be Sola? Like,
- 45:25Speaker 2: who who's gonna be the first one to show force sensitivity?
- 45:31Speaker 3: Yeah?
- 45:31Speaker 2: And the fact that there is none here. I think
- 45:35Speaker 2: does bring it back to like down to Earth, which
- 45:41Speaker 2: is really funny because it's tattooing. But yeah, like I
- 45:45Speaker 2: really do enjoy that there is no forced sensitivity here.
- 45:51Speaker 2: It's not even played like the let's go into spoilers here,
- 45:56Speaker 2: but like, uh, you Goo's parents, it's not like, oh,
- 46:00Speaker 2: they were secret Jedi and you know, they were just
- 46:05Speaker 2: people who wanted to help other people. And literally we're
- 46:09Speaker 2: just like going from planet to planet to like bring
- 46:12Speaker 2: people food and first aid and all of this other stuff.
- 46:16Speaker 2: Like I really dig that this is just like, hey,
- 46:21Speaker 2: it's found family trying to help other people, which is
- 46:26Speaker 2: really wholesome.
- 46:28Speaker 3: So re ask your question.
- 46:31Speaker 2: So, with the realization that it may not be safe anymore,
- 46:40Speaker 2: Billy starts to ask you go questions on like hey,
- 46:44Speaker 2: do you like to here? What do you think about moving?
- 46:48Speaker 2: I've been kind of thinking that we should leave and
- 46:50Speaker 2: you know, you know, just go somewhere else, Like did
- 46:53Speaker 2: you feel like this was like sufficient enough of a transition,
- 47:00Speaker 2: because like in the realm of talking about the other
- 47:03Speaker 2: episode that we had talked about the Smuggler, you know,
- 47:06Speaker 2: we're talking about Oh, they didn't focus too much on
- 47:10Speaker 2: like character development and things like that. Was there a
- 47:13Speaker 2: nice balance for you here with the character development, in
- 47:17Speaker 2: action and story progression, Like, how did you feel about that?
- 47:22Speaker 3: There was? And I think it's mainly because we're on
- 47:25Speaker 3: a familiar setting that helps the story progress. Is because
- 47:30Speaker 3: it didn't have to do too much with the setup.
- 47:33Speaker 3: We didn't like, we didn't need a royal society or
- 47:38Speaker 3: royal family involved, because I feel like the print is
- 47:44Speaker 3: what detracts from Jesus' story. If there had been some
- 47:48Speaker 3: other purpose there, or if it just wasn't explained like,
- 47:52Speaker 3: maybe that would have helped. I feel like you Go
- 47:55Speaker 3: and Billy. The setup is there, and based on what
- 48:02Speaker 3: we've seen previously from the Vision's tatweeen episodes, it was
- 48:05Speaker 3: very much what I expected, but it allows enough time
- 48:10Speaker 3: for the characters to step Obviously, you Go is very young.
- 48:14Speaker 3: You Go is like seven or eight here. I really
- 48:19Speaker 3: liked the characterization and development of Sola. Uh. I really
- 48:26Speaker 3: enjoyed Sola as a character. I love the you know
- 48:29Speaker 3: what what the heck, I'm gonna be a big brother
- 48:31Speaker 3: kind of thing again, the found family. He does an
- 48:38Speaker 3: incredible job with everything I see. Uh yeah, I have
- 48:45Speaker 3: written down here love Sola's big bro energy. That's literally
- 48:50Speaker 3: what I said. So I love the Teddy Bear Joid.
- 48:57Speaker 3: I love Billy. I really did think he would an alien,
- 49:00Speaker 3: and I would have been fine if he was an alien.
- 49:03Speaker 3: It just the setup because I missed the microwave oven.
- 49:10Speaker 3: I totally missed that. And so when he rises from
- 49:14Speaker 3: or when he gets shocked rather by Fox here, who
- 49:17Speaker 3: I think is an intriguing villain. I wanted to ask
- 49:20Speaker 3: you a question about, but let me finish the Billy thing.
- 49:22Speaker 3: So when he gets shocked, I was like, oh, he's
- 49:24Speaker 3: a droid like, so like that's the thing. And then
- 49:29Speaker 3: Darth Billy was super cool, Like I also thought Batman kind.
- 49:35Speaker 2: Of also well, and that was the other thing that
- 49:39Speaker 2: I wanted to bring up. I was not the biggest
- 49:43Speaker 2: fan of Darth Billy. You were not, no, And the
- 49:49Speaker 2: reason being is like literally because of the story progression,
- 49:56Speaker 2: like what tools and at what like when did you
- 50:02Speaker 2: have the time to suit Billy up with this helmet
- 50:06Speaker 2: and cape and extra buttons and stuff.
- 50:09Speaker 3: So this is where I throw an excuse, and you can't.
- 50:15Speaker 2: And there's a part of you that can, right, There's
- 50:17Speaker 2: there's a there's a small portion of you that can
- 50:20Speaker 2: be able to say, oh, well, you know, anime can
- 50:24Speaker 2: do all sorts of nonsense and crazy things, and it
- 50:26Speaker 2: totally makes sense for said universe, But here it felt
- 50:32Speaker 2: a little too far out of its own reach because
- 50:37Speaker 2: everything else that was already shown seemed realistic in the
- 50:42Speaker 2: universe that they've already established, and for him to just
- 50:47Speaker 2: be laying there and then all of a sudden, boom,
- 50:51Speaker 2: he has a helmet and cape. He looks like a
- 50:54Speaker 2: Darth Vader version of a bear. I know that it's
- 50:58Speaker 2: supposed to be cute, and like viewers that are going
- 51:00Speaker 2: to be like, oh, this is a callback to Darth Vader.
- 51:03Speaker 3: Haha.
- 51:05Speaker 2: It's just I feel like it's unneeded more so like
- 51:10Speaker 2: more so because like I think personally, if Billy still
- 51:16Speaker 2: looked the same, the impact of him, like fighting Yukoh
- 51:22Speaker 2: in Sola, would have been bigger, Like oh, Billy, like,
- 51:29Speaker 2: what are you doing? You're so familiar to me this
- 51:33Speaker 2: there's a physical change and so you're like, oh, well,
- 51:36Speaker 2: that's not Billy, that's somebody else, you know. Yeah, And
- 51:41Speaker 2: and so that's a little bit of a tidbit that's
- 51:43Speaker 2: like just like a personal little nitpick of like Oh, well,
- 51:47Speaker 2: if you did this emotionally, it would have hit me
- 51:50Speaker 2: a little bit more, you know, But you know it's
- 51:56Speaker 2: it's just a small nitpick.
- 51:58Speaker 3: Yeah, that makes sense. I don't hate.
- 52:03Speaker 2: So so you said you had a question about Foxier though.
- 52:14Speaker 3: Matt was watching these with me for the very first
- 52:16Speaker 3: time for these episodes, because he did not get a
- 52:19Speaker 3: chance to watch them like we hit intended because mar
- 52:24Speaker 3: woke up so early. So I wrote, fox here is
- 52:28Speaker 3: entreating Hiss a villain, and Matt brought up that he
- 52:32Speaker 3: is very Anubis coded. Yes, and why do you think
- 52:37Speaker 3: that is?
- 52:38Speaker 2: I have no idea. I immediately caught onto it, Like
- 52:43Speaker 2: as soon as I saw him, I'm like, why is
- 52:45Speaker 2: a Nubis in Star Wars? There's like and you know,
- 52:52Speaker 2: called me ignorant. I don't know of any like Egyptian
- 53:00Speaker 2: like references in the Star Wars that we already know
- 53:04Speaker 2: of and read. The closest thing that I could think
- 53:07Speaker 2: of to this is the more modern stuff that we've
- 53:13Speaker 2: read in the High Republic with the tombs and everything else.
- 53:16Speaker 2: Like that's the closest thing that I could really relate
- 53:19Speaker 2: it to. And so when I saw this, I was like,
- 53:23Speaker 2: I don't know why you're dressed like that. I don't
- 53:26Speaker 2: know what kind of species you are, uh but okay,
- 53:33Speaker 2: but yeah, like I it just it was a very
- 53:36Speaker 2: odd choice, but I dig it in a weird way
- 53:41Speaker 2: because again, this isn't a force user. He is a pirate,
- 53:45Speaker 2: like I have started more so to love the like
- 53:50Speaker 2: thuggish pirate, like anarchists type of character in Star Wars.
- 54:00Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, I hear what you're saying about the tombs,
- 54:05Speaker 3: but they literally are walking into the parents tomb because
- 54:09Speaker 3: the gravestones are there. So that was my thought process,
- 54:13Speaker 3: is kind of playing with that mythology aspect of this
- 54:17Speaker 3: god of the dead for Egyptian culture.
- 54:21Speaker 2: And okay, I see, I am picking up what you're
- 54:25Speaker 2: putting down.
- 54:26Speaker 3: I understand, especially especially because he thinks the parents are alive,
- 54:30Speaker 3: so he is like, hey, paid the poll, like you
- 54:33Speaker 3: robbed me, but now they've escaped kind of thing. Yeah,
- 54:37Speaker 3: that was my thought and actually I'll have to tell
- 54:41Speaker 3: him that because I thought of that this morning. So yeah,
- 54:51Speaker 3: other than that, I didn't really have a lot of stuff.
- 54:53Speaker 3: I think we've talked about everything really well.
- 54:57Speaker 2: Okay, so so we we there is the very end.
- 55:01Speaker 2: You know the fact that like this whole ordeal the
- 55:07Speaker 2: fox you know, guy, what's saying the fox ear He
- 55:14Speaker 2: believes that Yuko's parents are alive. They stole something from him,
- 55:21Speaker 2: and when they open the tomb, it's empty. And that's
- 55:25Speaker 2: because literally the centerpiece that's in that room is a lift.
- 55:30Speaker 2: When they go down underneath the cavern completely, that is
- 55:35Speaker 2: where we find a very wholesome like home. And I'm
- 55:42Speaker 2: I think I said this in our ranking, but like
- 55:46Speaker 2: in the I think I think there's only a total
- 55:51Speaker 2: of like five minutes of like they go down at
- 55:56Speaker 2: like seventeen thirty and credits roll at like twenty one minutes,
- 56:06Speaker 2: so like three or four minutes at the beginning, like
- 56:10Speaker 2: when you see the home, I started getting emotional.
- 56:15Speaker 3: I did too, like you.
- 56:16Speaker 2: I don't know why, Like like I started to like
- 56:20Speaker 2: not necessarily get the quiver of the lip, but like
- 56:23Speaker 2: I could feel it like coming around and then like, oh,
- 56:28Speaker 2: you know, let's open the door. Let's open the door.
- 56:30Speaker 2: And whenever each rooms like starts to like lights start
- 56:35Speaker 2: to turn on, we see the hollow projection of her parents.
- 56:40Speaker 2: And I'm just like sitting here like I'm not gonna cry.
- 56:42Speaker 2: I'm not gonna cry. I'm not gonna cry. I'm not
- 56:44Speaker 2: gonna cry. And it's so sweet and so sad because
- 56:50Speaker 2: at this moment in time, you're finally realizing Yuko has
- 56:55Speaker 2: never met them, yeah, and that is so depressing. But
- 57:03Speaker 2: you find out that there is a starship in the
- 57:07Speaker 2: actual underground cavern that they were staying in, and like
- 57:14Speaker 2: Sola like starts to get up into it and he's like,
- 57:19Speaker 2: oh man, I've always wanted to fly one of these things,
- 57:23Speaker 2: and Billy says, like the coolest thing ever. He's like,
- 57:25Speaker 2: oh cool, Well, then let me teach you both how
- 57:28Speaker 2: to fly this thing. Yeah, and you know, from then
- 57:32Speaker 2: on it's like, oh yeah, this is this is a family,
- 57:34Speaker 2: Like they're gonna stick together forever, and it's just beautiful.
- 57:39Speaker 2: Like I love the last four minutes of this entire short.
- 57:43Speaker 3: Yeah, it's so special. And again going back to the
- 57:48Speaker 3: found family aspect, like Sola getting to dive in and
- 57:53Speaker 3: explore with Yuko and Billy is just super awesome and
- 57:57Speaker 3: I love it. I did forget one thing because you
- 58:00Speaker 3: talked about the end. Uh, there's a create dragon in
- 58:03Speaker 3: this What did you think about the crek dragon because
- 58:06Speaker 3: we kind.
- 58:06Speaker 2: Of talked about it. Yeah, So how funny.
- 58:11Speaker 3: It is.
- 58:12Speaker 2: It is funny because they they they go into this
- 58:16Speaker 2: place not knowing what the heck it is, right, and
- 58:22Speaker 2: the kids, uh, when they get down, you see the
- 58:27Speaker 2: silhouette mm hm, and Sola has this feeling and he
- 58:32Speaker 2: like turns around. The crate Dragon stops, but it's still
- 58:35Speaker 2: too dark to see. He's like, maybe it's nothing. It
- 58:39Speaker 2: takes a few more steps, then you finally see the
- 58:42Speaker 2: crate Dragon start to move along too. And then when
- 58:45Speaker 2: the actual light shines from the droid, you see it,
- 58:48Speaker 2: and even the crate Dragon's like, hey, what's up, guys,
- 58:52Speaker 2: and they all start like freaking out, and it starts
- 58:55Speaker 2: this little cartoonish run from Chase scene. I really like this.
- 59:03Speaker 2: I always like when Star Wars, whether it be Clone Wars,
- 59:07Speaker 2: whether it be live action stuff, and especially here, when
- 59:11Speaker 2: you're able to kind of put your own spin on
- 59:15Speaker 2: things that already exist in the Star Wars universe, like
- 59:17Speaker 2: a creat dragon. I like that you're able to like, hey,
- 59:23Speaker 2: here's something familiar but a little different because like it
- 59:27Speaker 2: has a different shaped head. I think it does have
- 59:30Speaker 2: like like different number of arms and legs, you know,
- 59:35Speaker 2: type of things.
- 59:35Speaker 6: Yeah, and it looks like it should be an underground
- 59:42Speaker 6: creature rather than the dragon esque you know characterization that
- 59:48Speaker 6: we see in something like the Mandalorian.
- 59:51Speaker 2: Yeah, so I thought that was cool.
- 59:55Speaker 3: I loved it. I thought it. I just every time
- 59:58Speaker 3: we get we get to see the animals of Star Wars,
- 1:00:02Speaker 3: it's always awesome. Like everybody loved the ice foxes, the
- 1:00:09Speaker 3: crystal foxes in the Last Jedi for instance. So loved it.
- 1:00:14Speaker 3: Super fun. Bird of Paradise.
- 1:00:17Speaker 2: Yes, let's jump into Birds of Paradise. Is it Birds
- 1:00:24Speaker 2: of Paradise or is it the bird? It's the bird
- 1:00:26Speaker 2: singular bird, the.
- 1:00:28Speaker 3: Bird of Paradise. And so for a nonspotsh because I
- 1:00:33Speaker 3: actually went back and or I didn't go back. I
- 1:00:35Speaker 3: remembered this was actually my third uh in my ranking,
- 1:00:40Speaker 3: so quite possibly after this viewing it probably moved up,
- 1:00:45Speaker 3: if I'm being honest. So uh so for the Bird
- 1:00:52Speaker 3: of Paradise by Polygon Pictures, who assisted with the Clone
- 1:00:57Speaker 3: Wars and Star Wars Resistance. My non spoiler thoughts, I
- 1:01:03Speaker 3: absolutely love this animation. Uh, There's just always something about
- 1:01:07Speaker 3: a well done three D animation. There's just always going
- 1:01:11Speaker 3: to be killer.
- 1:01:14Speaker 2: Hold your horses. Did you just say that they helped
- 1:01:18Speaker 2: in Clone Wars and Resistance. Yeah, that is why the
- 1:01:25Speaker 2: movement is so familiar.
- 1:01:27Speaker 3: Mm hmmm, probably because they had a lot of the
- 1:01:30Speaker 3: models already built and were able to go to reuse
- 1:01:36Speaker 3: them and everything. So this one reminded me a lot
- 1:01:41Speaker 3: of the Artistic Visions episode from Volume two, uh, the
- 1:01:48Speaker 3: Spanish one in particular. I do love this one also
- 1:01:55Speaker 3: kind of has an opening crawl with like the prequel scene,
- 1:01:58Speaker 3: like the setup and everything. It's not technically an opening crawl,
- 1:02:03Speaker 3: but it kind of sets the stage for the rest
- 1:02:06Speaker 3: of the episode. And realistically, it's not often I fall
- 1:02:12Speaker 3: in love with visuals above a story see my thoughts
- 1:02:17Speaker 3: on Avatar and Avatar too. But the animation, story design visually,
- 1:02:26Speaker 3: it's all just stunning. The way everything pleas together, the
- 1:02:29Speaker 3: title cards that kind of run throughout the episode, it
- 1:02:33Speaker 3: all plays so well together and it's stunning stunning, Like,
- 1:02:38Speaker 3: I have no complaints with anything in this episode. I
- 1:02:43Speaker 3: also loved just walking through the battle of grief and
- 1:02:48Speaker 3: darkness with Naki Ma, the padawan and main character of
- 1:02:53Speaker 3: the story, because realistically, this is a battle of grief
- 1:02:57Speaker 3: and coming to depths with hate. I can't be that
- 1:03:00Speaker 3: person anymore and building yourself back up, and I just
- 1:03:05Speaker 3: thought it was a beautiful story. The visuals accentuate everything
- 1:03:10Speaker 3: perfectly and really attend to what the story is trying
- 1:03:14Speaker 3: to accomplish. And so for me, I realistically think this
- 1:03:20Speaker 3: one has definitely moved up for me. I don't think
- 1:03:23Speaker 3: it's number one, but I would say it's probably number
- 1:03:26Speaker 3: two in my in my ranking, So.
- 1:03:30Speaker 2: Watching it for a second and third time, I think this,
- 1:03:39Speaker 2: I don't know, it's very odd because I think all
- 1:03:43Speaker 2: of my lists is going to change after watching Yuko's
- 1:03:46Speaker 2: Treasure again and watching The Smuggler. Yeah, because I and
- 1:03:59Speaker 2: it may just be the fact that also, like there
- 1:04:02Speaker 2: is a solid like list of shorts this season, and
- 1:04:06Speaker 2: it's really hard to you know, be like, oh, which
- 1:04:09Speaker 2: one is better than the other other than you know,
- 1:04:13Speaker 2: our our favorite ones and our least favorite one. So
- 1:04:19Speaker 2: so with here some non spoiler thoughts, I really really
- 1:04:27Speaker 2: really enjoy the art, the the stylistic choices that they've
- 1:04:34Speaker 2: made with this animation to go from the three D
- 1:04:41Speaker 2: look to the pastel paintbrush look when certain aspects of
- 1:04:52Speaker 2: the story call for it. Like I I really enjoyed that.
- 1:04:57Speaker 2: I thought it was very, very fun and I also
- 1:05:03Speaker 2: really enjoy the opening scene. Like you said, it is
- 1:05:08Speaker 2: not necessarily a opening crawl, but it does establish the
- 1:05:11Speaker 2: rest of the story. Something very important happens at the
- 1:05:14Speaker 2: very beginning to even put our main character in the
- 1:05:17Speaker 2: position that she's in for the remainder of this short.
- 1:05:22Speaker 2: So I really like that because it puts you in
- 1:05:26Speaker 2: a place of like, Okay, we know that this individual
- 1:05:30Speaker 2: is going to go through trials and tribulation here, so
- 1:05:33Speaker 2: what does that mean for us as the viewer? What
- 1:05:36Speaker 2: are we going to learn from it? Also, so I
- 1:05:39Speaker 2: really like the kind of deep thinking that this individual short,
- 1:05:46Speaker 2: you know, adds to as an audience member. I really
- 1:05:49Speaker 2: like that as well. But yeah, that's that's really it
- 1:05:53Speaker 2: for me. I do also like the very simple like
- 1:06:00Speaker 2: sound music choice for this as well.
- 1:06:04Speaker 3: Yeah, very nature esque in its design, and it really
- 1:06:09Speaker 3: works overall.
- 1:06:12Speaker 2: Yeah, but going into non spoilers, Katie, so we first
- 1:06:19Speaker 2: mentioned in our rankings that this antagonist at the beginning
- 1:06:24Speaker 2: of the of the episode was very Harley Quinn quote coded.
- 1:06:34Speaker 3: Yeah, Harley Quinn crazy Massage. Ventris Vibes definitely gives the
- 1:06:41Speaker 3: night Sister effect with her overall design, but is specifically
- 1:06:45Speaker 3: referenced as a sick and obviously we know Night Sisters
- 1:06:50Speaker 3: don't carry lightsabers, so the fact that she's carrying lightsabers
- 1:06:55Speaker 3: insinuates Hey Sith and not Night Sister. But if I
- 1:07:00Speaker 3: see a blend of Harley Quinn Massage.
- 1:07:02Speaker 2: Ventests, yeah, I like her design. I really like the
- 1:07:10Speaker 2: Jedi Masters design as well, very traditional, like monk esque.
- 1:07:18Speaker 2: But I also like the tattoos that are all over
- 1:07:21Speaker 2: his head. I thought that was a really cool, uh aesthetic,
- 1:07:24Speaker 2: and I would actually really like to know, like what
- 1:07:26Speaker 2: all it says. If there was any type of Easter egg,
- 1:07:30Speaker 2: you know, tattoo on his head, I think that would
- 1:07:33Speaker 2: be really funny. But yeah, I like that there is
- 1:07:37Speaker 2: an R two unit that actually helps in the fight.
- 1:07:42Speaker 2: No real big role, it's literally just that one moment
- 1:07:46Speaker 2: where our main character uses his thrusters to boost her jump.
- 1:07:51Speaker 3: Yeah. I love that aspect into the action sequence. Like
- 1:07:56Speaker 3: I thought that was super unique, Like we've had R
- 1:07:59Speaker 3: two with like tossing lightsabers at our characters that we
- 1:08:04Speaker 3: know and love, but to really get involved in the
- 1:08:07Speaker 3: fight like that. I want to see that in Vain
- 1:08:11Speaker 3: Star Wars now.
- 1:08:13Speaker 2: Yeah. But but the Okay, so so you've mentioned her name.
- 1:08:19Speaker 2: I totally forgot her name. What is the main character's
- 1:08:21Speaker 2: name again?
- 1:08:22Speaker 6: It is.
- 1:08:24Speaker 2: You May? Okay. So the really big event that happens
- 1:08:28Speaker 2: at the beginning of this episode, Nachi May is blinded
- 1:08:34Speaker 2: ye by the Sith. She is hit with a lightsaber
- 1:08:39Speaker 2: with double lightsabers, dual lightsabers, and is blinded.
- 1:08:46Speaker 3: Immediately pridefulness in aspects of the fight, like oh no,
- 1:08:52Speaker 3: but I've got this, like and.
- 1:08:54Speaker 2: That was something else that I that I wanted to mention,
- 1:08:56Speaker 2: Like we see her very much as and like the
- 1:09:00Speaker 2: Sith even gives her a compliment. It's like, oh, like,
- 1:09:03Speaker 2: you do this better than me, you know. And so
- 1:09:06Speaker 2: you immediately are are told as an audience member like, oh,
- 1:09:12Speaker 2: she struggles with this part of being a Jedi, right, yeah,
- 1:09:18Speaker 2: and so you know for a fact, like, oh, you know,
- 1:09:20Speaker 2: this probably is going to be a story about her
- 1:09:22Speaker 2: struggles with that. And I really do enjoy the fact
- 1:09:31Speaker 2: that they do blind her and she is only really
- 1:09:36Speaker 2: motivated by her survival for one and then two with
- 1:09:44Speaker 2: her only being able to like touch and smell and hear,
- 1:09:52Speaker 2: she's only she's really only stuck in her own head.
- 1:09:55Speaker 2: And so this causes her to think and to really
- 1:10:02Speaker 2: you know, contemplate on life and struggle with her deepest, darkest,
- 1:10:08Speaker 2: you know, parts of herself. And that's really what this
- 1:10:11Speaker 2: episode is about.
- 1:10:13Speaker 3: Yeah, and it really dives into her initial grief and
- 1:10:20Speaker 3: scaredness with everything. And I talked about the title cards
- 1:10:23Speaker 3: that go through this episode. They really kind of advance
- 1:10:26Speaker 3: you through the stages of grief because we talk about insolence,
- 1:10:31Speaker 3: we talk about acceptance, like all of those things are
- 1:10:35Speaker 3: super important when it comes to battling something with yourself
- 1:10:40Speaker 3: and taking over and making yourself stronger than your weakness.
- 1:10:46Speaker 3: Is part of that is accepting it, and she eventually
- 1:10:50Speaker 3: does come to that realization. But I love what happens
- 1:10:54Speaker 3: in the different days we go through five days in
- 1:11:00Speaker 3: this short period of time. Can you tell me how
- 1:11:03Speaker 3: long this episode is because I don't have.
- 1:11:05Speaker 2: This episode is a total of twenty one minutes. Let
- 1:11:10Speaker 2: me actually go back. This episode is twenty one minutes.
- 1:11:14Speaker 3: Yeah, okay, so very brief amount of time to spent
- 1:11:19Speaker 3: on each day, obviously with a twenty one episode count.
- 1:11:23Speaker 3: But I love the different perspective shots, especially on that
- 1:11:27Speaker 3: first day that we get. We get a lot of
- 1:11:30Speaker 3: we get some wide takes where everything looks normal to
- 1:11:35Speaker 3: the viewer and everything, but then you get really close
- 1:11:37Speaker 3: up shots where a lot of it is darkness or
- 1:11:41Speaker 3: fuzziness that is then highlighted when a certain sense flares
- 1:11:46Speaker 3: off from knocking news. I thought that was a super
- 1:11:48Speaker 3: cool design element that really articulates the initial stage that
- 1:11:53Speaker 3: she's in, because if you've read a lot of Star
- 1:11:57Speaker 3: Wars like I have, you know that there's four users
- 1:12:00Speaker 3: out there who are technically blind, but who see with
- 1:12:03Speaker 3: the force. And so she goes through the different stages
- 1:12:08Speaker 3: and as she does, she comes out of it and
- 1:12:11Speaker 3: she gets to witness a sunrise with her first views
- 1:12:16Speaker 3: of forced vision, and it's really beautiful overall just what
- 1:12:21Speaker 3: she is able to gain with that, but the fact
- 1:12:25Speaker 3: that the perspective shots change over the days that we
- 1:12:31Speaker 3: get and it eventually grows into what we get in
- 1:12:34Speaker 3: the final shot with the sunrise. I just love it.
- 1:12:38Speaker 3: Like it. It gives you chills with how much attention
- 1:12:43Speaker 3: to detail there is, because in traditionally, in traditionally animated
- 1:12:50Speaker 3: things and even some live action things, there's not that
- 1:12:53Speaker 3: much attention to detail, especially nowadays, because they don't think
- 1:12:56Speaker 3: people are paying attention to it because everybody's got a
- 1:12:59Speaker 3: phone in their hand, so why pay attention to it?
- 1:13:02Speaker 3: And I know the craftsmen involved don't want to do that,
- 1:13:04Speaker 3: but the rush to the point to get to that,
- 1:13:07Speaker 3: and so to see this level of attention to details,
- 1:13:11Speaker 3: just I love it. I love it. It's stunning. It
- 1:13:18Speaker 3: does feel very uh Digaba coded. The location they're at,
- 1:13:25Speaker 3: it's definitely not Dagaba.
- 1:13:27Speaker 2: No. I was going to bring it up though, the
- 1:13:30Speaker 2: fact that we are in a forest, the fact that
- 1:13:33Speaker 2: it's very dark, the fact that she is eventually fighting
- 1:13:39Speaker 2: against herself, like it's very much Dagaba codd which I
- 1:13:45Speaker 2: into a cave. Yeah, I thought that was all fun.
- 1:13:53Speaker 3: Yeah, I And I love the illusions that each day
- 1:13:57Speaker 3: brings and sets up. She very clearly runs into. I
- 1:14:03Speaker 3: would think it's like a grave site on the first
- 1:14:06Speaker 3: day where there's a statue of what is assumed to
- 1:14:09Speaker 3: be like a Jedi master or force user involved, because
- 1:14:14Speaker 3: she talks to it. She's like, well, you're here, so
- 1:14:16Speaker 3: clearly something must be important, and then like kind of
- 1:14:21Speaker 3: goes on her way and everything. Why is it the
- 1:14:26Speaker 3: darkness In one of the illusions, I think it's day four,
- 1:14:31Speaker 3: Why is it the Darkness.
- 1:14:33Speaker 2: A giant slug, A giant Dune worm. I could not
- 1:14:41Speaker 2: tell you, but it was one of my first questions.
- 1:14:45Speaker 2: I asked myself, Uh, an.
- 1:14:48Speaker 3: Easter egg, because you know that a lot of like
- 1:14:51Speaker 3: tattooine is inspired by Dune.
- 1:14:56Speaker 2: Yes, well I guess it is. Yeah, yea, so yeah.
- 1:15:01Speaker 3: Starlac kind of gives you Dune worm vibes.
- 1:15:04Speaker 2: Yeah, so I'm actually I'm paused at it right now.
- 1:15:07Speaker 2: And I didn't even dawn on me until just now
- 1:15:12Speaker 2: that it is a reference, like it could be a
- 1:15:14Speaker 2: reference to Dune. But yeah, Like I was like, why
- 1:15:20Speaker 2: is the Darkness a worm? Not even a Dune worm?
- 1:15:24Speaker 2: I was like, why is it a worm? You saying, hey,
- 1:15:26Speaker 2: why is it a Dune worm? That's hilarious. And of course,
- 1:15:31Speaker 2: before you, I'm actually not a big Dune person. I
- 1:15:36Speaker 2: haven't even seen the new one. Oh yeah, no, Like
- 1:15:41Speaker 2: I like there's a part of me that has also
- 1:15:43Speaker 2: been the type of person that's like, oh uh, like
- 1:15:47Speaker 2: do I want to be the type of person to
- 1:15:50Speaker 2: go back and read the book before I go see
- 1:15:53Speaker 2: the movie. I've seen the eighties movie.
- 1:15:57Speaker 3: My book is not worth it?
- 1:16:00Speaker 2: And that's what I've I've read is that that these
- 1:16:02Speaker 2: books are so damn long. And then I get invested
- 1:16:07Speaker 2: in something that isn't that great.
- 1:16:09Speaker 3: I returned it on Audible, and I don't return things
- 1:16:11Speaker 3: on audible. Like that's how that wow?
- 1:16:16Speaker 2: She returns, She returned something that she didn't even own,
- 1:16:21Speaker 2: by the way, you don't own You don't own much
- 1:16:26Speaker 2: on audible these days.
- 1:16:27Speaker 3: Yes, I know you're doing all your searching ever. Sorry,
- 1:16:33Speaker 3: but I'm not bad for you.
- 1:16:36Speaker 2: You're so so U scare of scuttle Butt says, oh,
- 1:16:41Speaker 2: thank you for joining us. But he says, uh, I
- 1:16:45Speaker 2: gotta finish Vision season three. We highly recommend it, please do.
- 1:16:49Speaker 2: It is a great season and and this is one
- 1:17:00Speaker 2: of the highlights of this season, not only just for story,
- 1:17:04Speaker 2: but for beautiful animation. And just like Katie was saying that,
- 1:17:11Speaker 2: this has a lot of very cool attention to detail
- 1:17:18Speaker 2: and like little tongue in cheek things that only somebody
- 1:17:23Speaker 2: that's really paying attention is going to catch up on.
- 1:17:26Speaker 2: And I I dig those things. You know. There's there's
- 1:17:31Speaker 2: a moment of we've we've kind of you know, gone
- 1:17:35Speaker 2: back and forth on it of when she is fighting herself.
- 1:17:41Speaker 2: One of the coolest things it is so like, yeah,
- 1:17:48Speaker 2: of course, Clay, like duh, like it's it's you. You
- 1:17:53Speaker 2: would watch it and be like, yeah, that makes sense.
- 1:17:55Speaker 2: That's that's not very cool at all. It makes sense,
- 1:17:57Speaker 2: But to me, it's one of the coolest things ever.
- 1:18:01Speaker 2: Is throughout this entire fight between the two, they both
- 1:18:06Speaker 2: have red lightsabers because of her like fear and hate
- 1:18:13Speaker 2: and anxiety. At the beginning of that fight, and then
- 1:18:18Speaker 2: at the very end, at the very end, you see
- 1:18:22Speaker 2: her like take a deep breath and she recites something
- 1:18:25Speaker 2: that her master tells her, and as she's reciting it,
- 1:18:28Speaker 2: you see the glow on her face shift from red
- 1:18:32Speaker 2: to green and then it slightly It doesn't even zoom
- 1:18:35Speaker 2: out all the way. That's what I love. There's just
- 1:18:38Speaker 2: a slight zoom ount that you see the edge of
- 1:18:42Speaker 2: a green lightsaber. And it's so good. It's so good.
- 1:18:46Speaker 2: I don't know why it makes me so happy, but
- 1:18:49Speaker 2: it does.
- 1:18:51Speaker 3: It's so good. It's so good. Oh, I just love
- 1:18:56Speaker 3: it so much. And like you talk about the fight
- 1:18:58Speaker 3: between herself, between the two sides of herself, the lightsaber
- 1:19:05Speaker 3: choreography in this it's what made me believe that third
- 1:19:09Speaker 3: time around that they're probably using some models from Clone Wars,
- 1:19:16Speaker 3: because I don't think any other episode has hit the
- 1:19:20Speaker 3: lightsaber choreography so very traditionally Star Wars. Like there's a
- 1:19:26Speaker 3: lot of good lightsaber choreography, don't get me wrong, but
- 1:19:29Speaker 3: this is just very traditional Star Wars lightsaber choreography, and
- 1:19:34Speaker 3: it's gorgeous. I love the fight with her with herself.
- 1:19:41Speaker 3: I love the design with her alter ego, the fire
- 1:19:46Speaker 3: and the black, like it is just really awesome. And
- 1:19:53Speaker 3: the little speech she gives to herself, like I teared
- 1:19:56Speaker 3: up the third time around, Like I didn't write it
- 1:20:01Speaker 3: down word for word, but like that that vote of
- 1:20:05Speaker 3: confidence to yourself to know, hey, you are my weakness,
- 1:20:12Speaker 3: but I accept you and it's gonna be okay at
- 1:20:15Speaker 3: the end of the day. It's so important. And this
- 1:20:18Speaker 3: is a conversation on how with my mom about how
- 1:20:21Speaker 3: like so many types of media want to have that
- 1:20:24Speaker 3: balance and everything. I don't think it is about balance.
- 1:20:29Speaker 3: I think it's knowing, hey, I've got a dark side
- 1:20:32Speaker 3: and I need to be able to balance that out
- 1:20:34Speaker 3: with the good side so that I have more good
- 1:20:37Speaker 3: at the end of the day.
- 1:20:38Speaker 2: Like and the like the part that she says is
- 1:20:43Speaker 2: like you're my weakness, but know that you'll always be
- 1:20:47Speaker 2: with me and I'll always be with you. That is
- 1:20:51Speaker 2: a clear like statement of like, hey, this fear may
- 1:20:56Speaker 2: never go away, you know. And she talks about her
- 1:20:59Speaker 2: fear of death and her anxieties and all of this
- 1:21:02Speaker 2: other stuff. And as somebody you know, guilty as charge,
- 1:21:07Speaker 2: that is number one fear in all of my life
- 1:21:12Speaker 2: is death. Like to overcome that with peace of mind,
- 1:21:19Speaker 2: like in such a beautiful way is really powerful and
- 1:21:24Speaker 2: I really really enjoy it.
- 1:21:26Speaker 3: Yeah, scaff scottle, but I think you left the chat,
- 1:21:29Speaker 3: but just as a final shadow, he said, They said,
- 1:21:31Speaker 3: because I don't know if you're a guy or a girl.
- 1:21:36Speaker 3: They said, I really loved season two. This is a
- 1:21:37Speaker 3: great concept. We wholeheartedly agree, we do. But yes, the
- 1:21:46Speaker 3: Bird of Paradise, I love it. Eats it probably doesn't
- 1:21:54Speaker 3: hit one specifically because I'm always going to be a
- 1:21:58Speaker 3: funny person and Bounty Hunters being so funny with the
- 1:22:03Speaker 3: bipolar droid super hysterical, I love it. That doesn't change
- 1:22:09Speaker 3: the fact that I love this one exactly.
- 1:22:12Speaker 2: No, And then I'm the same way in the sense
- 1:22:16Speaker 2: of like the oh shoot, I keep forgetting the title
- 1:22:23Speaker 2: of that one, it is the Song of four Wings.
- 1:22:26Speaker 2: You know, I'm very like, hey, what's weird, and like,
- 1:22:31Speaker 2: what's new things that we can do with the already
- 1:22:34Speaker 2: existing universe? Right? You know, we saw the the at
- 1:22:38Speaker 2: eight with freaking seventeen bajillion guns pop out of its neck,
- 1:22:43Speaker 2: and like we saw a literal little girl turn into
- 1:22:46Speaker 2: an X wing. Like that's weird, that's crazy, that's really fun.
- 1:22:50Speaker 2: Like I like those things. But when you get like
- 1:22:54Speaker 2: philosophical and you do some really beautiful things with art,
- 1:22:58Speaker 2: like I really dig that as well. And that's what
- 1:23:01Speaker 2: I like when I'm when I'm looking at this, like
- 1:23:03Speaker 2: I want to move a Bird of Paradise in a
- 1:23:08Speaker 2: different position. But then I look at all the other
- 1:23:12Speaker 2: stories and I'm like, well, all of these have their
- 1:23:16Speaker 2: own unique thing also, and it's really difficult to say, oh,
- 1:23:20Speaker 2: this is one is one over the other, this one
- 1:23:23Speaker 2: is one over the other. So like I am content
- 1:23:29Speaker 2: with being able to say that, Like, each one of
- 1:23:33Speaker 2: these has its niche and they really hit hard on
- 1:23:38Speaker 2: that niche yep. And and I think that's all they
- 1:23:43Speaker 2: really need to do when it comes to something like
- 1:23:46Speaker 2: this type of anthology for visions.
- 1:23:50Speaker 3: Yeah, I wholeheartedly agree. And that's why we talk about
- 1:23:54Speaker 3: rankings so often as oh, this is so much better
- 1:23:58Speaker 3: than this one, This is so much better than this one.
- 1:24:01Speaker 3: This is mainly to give you an idea of what
- 1:24:03Speaker 3: our personalities like in an episode. The funny is, if
- 1:24:07Speaker 3: something can make me laugh, that's always going to outweigh
- 1:24:10Speaker 3: an emotional storyline for me. They could do both, but
- 1:24:15Speaker 3: to me, I value the capability to laugh. I enjoy
- 1:24:19Speaker 3: laughing that that's always something that's going to brighten my day.
- 1:24:23Speaker 3: That's why I lean into stuff like friends and How
- 1:24:26Speaker 3: I Met your Mother is because those things make me laugh.
- 1:24:30Speaker 3: And so I love an emotional storyline. But at the
- 1:24:34Speaker 3: end of the day, if I if I were to
- 1:24:39Speaker 3: pick one to rewatch, it would be Bounty Hunters, which
- 1:24:41Speaker 3: is why Bounty Hunters sits at one. So yeah, I
- 1:24:48Speaker 3: love the Bird of Paradise. Though I love the growth
- 1:24:51Speaker 3: that document experiences, I don't think I would need a
- 1:24:56Speaker 3: sequel or another storyline to this one. I think this
- 1:24:59Speaker 3: is perfect as it is, and I don't want to
- 1:25:04Speaker 3: see something. I don't think it needs anything else. I
- 1:25:08Speaker 3: don't think it sets up for anything else. What are
- 1:25:11Speaker 3: your thoughts?
- 1:25:12Speaker 2: I agree this is the one that I agree with.
- 1:25:15Speaker 2: In the case of it being a stand alone short film,
- 1:25:27Speaker 2: this has like, yeah, you could say like, oh, but
- 1:25:31Speaker 2: what about the the Sith girl, like where did her
- 1:25:35Speaker 2: roots come from? And why she's so crazy and all
- 1:25:38Speaker 2: this other stuff like oh did she ever find her master?
- 1:25:43Speaker 2: And you know, when do we get to see the
- 1:25:47Speaker 2: fruits of her labor in this forest and we actually
- 1:25:52Speaker 2: see some of these teachings and action Like no, no, no,
- 1:25:56Speaker 2: that's what this was for. This is to show you
- 1:26:00Speaker 2: the lesson and show you that she learned it, and
- 1:26:04Speaker 2: that's it.
- 1:26:04Speaker 3: Like I I would love to see this one submitted
- 1:26:09Speaker 3: for Oscar Short Film.
- 1:26:12Speaker 2: Yes, yes, I think.
- 1:26:16Speaker 3: This up like it could actually get a nomination.
- 1:26:20Speaker 2: I think.
- 1:26:22Speaker 3: So that that's my opinion.
- 1:26:25Speaker 2: If I was Disney, I would one, Like I know
- 1:26:29Speaker 2: that they're probably going to be like, oh, we'll just
- 1:26:31Speaker 2: submit all of them into the short film only one.
- 1:26:36Speaker 3: They did not submit anything out of Visions volume two,
- 1:26:39Speaker 3: and the only one they submitted in volume one was
- 1:26:44Speaker 3: a Village Bride.
- 1:26:46Speaker 2: Yeah, I would I would choose this one if out
- 1:26:51Speaker 2: of all of them, for the fact that it literally
- 1:26:55Speaker 2: stands alone and there is no question of oh what
- 1:26:59Speaker 2: happened after or oh what what happened before this? It's
- 1:27:03Speaker 2: just its own thing. You get the lesson, you get
- 1:27:07Speaker 2: that the main character learned that lesson, and it's all
- 1:27:11Speaker 2: sunshine and rainbows like it's it's beautiful. Yeah, I agree.
- 1:27:17Speaker 3: All right, well, Clay, I think that takes us to
- 1:27:20Speaker 3: the end.
- 1:27:21Speaker 2: That is, that is the very end of our part
- 1:27:25Speaker 2: two on this Deep Dive of volume three. We will
- 1:27:29Speaker 2: have a part three now. Because of scheduling and because
- 1:27:35Speaker 2: of that thing called Thanksgiving, we will not be having
- 1:27:40Speaker 2: a live show. Instead, we're gonna be recording our Part
- 1:27:46Speaker 2: three of the Deep Dive off air, and we will
- 1:27:49Speaker 2: be putting that out there on Thanksgiving, so you can
- 1:27:54Speaker 2: avoid all of the very obnoxious talks that you're gonna
- 1:27:59Speaker 2: have have at Thanksgiving dinner.
- 1:28:02Speaker 3: So if you're stuck in the kitchen, you can just
- 1:28:04Speaker 3: stick in an AirPod ahead.
- 1:28:06Speaker 2: Exactly exactly.
- 1:28:12Speaker 3: Seriousness. Enjoy your family time, yes, if that's your thing.
- 1:28:17Speaker 2: Yeah, whether that's antagonizing family or whatnot that you know,
- 1:28:23Speaker 2: just enjoy yourself. But yeah, we will have a full
- 1:28:27Speaker 2: deep dive of the sequels of visions, that being the
- 1:28:32Speaker 2: duel the Ninth Jedi and the follow up to the
- 1:28:38Speaker 2: Village Bride, which is called The Lost Ones. So I
- 1:28:42Speaker 2: checked that on your feeds. Next week well no, so
- 1:28:45Speaker 2: yeah next week?
- 1:28:47Speaker 3: Yeah, next week did you publish Oh my gosh, do Prime?
- 1:28:55Speaker 2: Yes? I did?
- 1:28:56Speaker 3: Okay, So, guys, if you missed this last week, you
- 1:29:00Speaker 3: vector Prime, which is the first episode in our Patreon
- 1:29:02Speaker 3: series which we are uh releasing an episode of the
- 1:29:08Speaker 3: our review of the New Jedi Order series of books,
- 1:29:11Speaker 3: which tackles the Yu Genvong uh invasion. So uh, Agents
- 1:29:16Speaker 3: of Chaos two is going to be a review for December.
- 1:29:22Speaker 3: So uh, if you are interested in catching up, that's
- 1:29:25Speaker 3: our five dollars tier on Patreon. I've always Clay has
- 1:29:29Speaker 3: it linked in the description box below if you guys
- 1:29:31Speaker 3: are interested. So uh, like Clay said, uh, sequels will
- 1:29:38Speaker 3: be next week. UH for Visions Volume three, that's our
- 1:29:42Speaker 3: that will be our part three. I do not think
- 1:29:45Speaker 3: we are going to have time to talk about Ronan,
- 1:29:49Speaker 3: the Vision's novel uh that relates that is that was
- 1:29:54Speaker 3: originally the sequel to the duel. I I've been reading
- 1:30:00Speaker 3: other things. I've been enjoying a couple of different stories.
- 1:30:04Speaker 3: I haven't had time to go back to Ronan. I
- 1:30:06Speaker 3: think what will probably happen is that will be an
- 1:30:08Speaker 3: individual topic probably in the first half of next year,
- 1:30:15Speaker 3: just just to do.
- 1:30:16Speaker 2: Some comparisons and how it.
- 1:30:18Speaker 3: Fits and kind of go and kind of talk about
- 1:30:23Speaker 3: the way Disney treats print media. So if you guys
- 1:30:31Speaker 3: are interested in that, please let us know and we
- 1:30:33Speaker 3: can bump that up on the schedule, but it will
- 1:30:38Speaker 3: just be the Visions episodes themselves next week, so they
- 1:30:44Speaker 3: tell us where they can find you.
- 1:30:46Speaker 2: Of course, you can always find me at fanboy Clay
- 1:30:49Speaker 2: on any and all social media. Go also follow on Instagram,
- 1:30:55Speaker 2: Volume Comics. It would be greatly appreciated. Check out our
- 1:31:01Speaker 2: episode of Ranger Alliance this week. We're kind of in limbo.
- 1:31:07Speaker 2: Some things have been happening, and it looks like Toey
- 1:31:11Speaker 2: may actually be canceling the series for something else, and
- 1:31:15Speaker 2: we're not entirely sure what we're gonna be doing. So
- 1:31:20Speaker 2: that's fun. So while we figure all that out, you know,
- 1:31:24Speaker 2: me and Joe and Jake are kind of just like
- 1:31:27Speaker 2: texting back and forth with all of the drama that's
- 1:31:30Speaker 2: been going on with Super Sintai, Empower Rangers and all
- 1:31:34Speaker 2: of that Jazz, and we talked all about it last
- 1:31:37Speaker 2: week or this this past episode, so go check that out.
- 1:31:44Speaker 3: But yeah, y'all, you can find me on thost social
- 1:31:48Speaker 3: media platforms. It's at Fleece Katie. I may be dropping
- 1:31:52Speaker 3: my Twitter like completely and like wiping the deck and
- 1:31:56Speaker 3: going it's there, but I'm elsewhere kind of thing and
- 1:32:00Speaker 3: just completely logging out of it because it just has
- 1:32:04Speaker 3: proven to not be worth my time. And the app
- 1:32:06Speaker 3: update is just garbage or not the app update because
- 1:32:11Speaker 3: I'm not using the app. I refuse to download the app.
- 1:32:13Speaker 3: I'm using Safari and it's garbage. So but I'm everywhere
- 1:32:21Speaker 3: else on social media, and I try to check everything
- 1:32:25Speaker 3: once a day, So if you shoot me a message
- 1:32:26Speaker 3: I promise that we'll get back to you at some point.
- 1:32:30Speaker 3: Star Wars Alliance you can find us on Blue Sky,
- 1:32:33Speaker 3: Instagram and threads as well as Gmail. That Gmail. All
- 1:32:39Speaker 3: of those user names are Star Wars Alliance with no
- 1:32:43Speaker 3: eight in the Wars. That's very important, don't forget it.
- 1:32:46Speaker 3: And obviously you add the specific things, so blue Sky
- 1:32:50Speaker 3: you have like blue Sky Social, gibber, drabber at the
- 1:32:55Speaker 3: end of it, I don't. Blue Sky's like the one
- 1:32:58Speaker 3: thing that I'm like e and the Gmail you add
- 1:33:01Speaker 3: at gmail dot com. On the end, I am trying
- 1:33:05Speaker 3: to post more on our social media. I'm not as
- 1:33:07Speaker 3: good as creating graphics. It reels, but I do a
- 1:33:12Speaker 3: good story. So now that I'm all healed up, my
- 1:33:17Speaker 3: goal is to start posting more for you guys and
- 1:33:21Speaker 3: try to start the talking and things, with the goal
- 1:33:28Speaker 3: that after the holidays, I will be helping Clay out
- 1:33:31Speaker 3: more and learning more about graphic creation and things, or
- 1:33:36Speaker 3: I'll try. At least I can promise. I will try, Clay,
- 1:33:43Speaker 3: That's all I can give you. Unfortunately, I can't promise
- 1:33:46Speaker 3: someone to be.
- 1:33:46Speaker 2: Good at it, but I will try. It's a it's
- 1:33:50Speaker 2: a learning experience. And thankfully, like a lot of these
- 1:33:54Speaker 2: places that you that a lot of people do make
- 1:33:58Speaker 2: graphics for social media, they have literally all the tools
- 1:34:02Speaker 2: that you need. And it's not just like oh, you
- 1:34:04Speaker 2: have to buy or be you know, a monthly subscriber
- 1:34:07Speaker 2: of like six different things to make these things. Uh
- 1:34:11Speaker 2: So thankfully you know, whatever you choose, it'll mostly all
- 1:34:16Speaker 2: be there. So I and again, I like doing the stuff.
- 1:34:22Speaker 2: It gives me some it gives me something to do
- 1:34:24Speaker 2: for now. But with me now being a business owner,
- 1:34:29Speaker 2: you know you can do it. Oh, I have something
- 1:34:34Speaker 2: to tell you, slash show you when we go off
- 1:34:37Speaker 2: the air, so we'll trust me, trust me. Yeah.
- 1:34:41Speaker 3: Well with that, guys, I want to wish everyone a
- 1:34:45Speaker 3: great day or night, whatever time the day you're listening
- 1:34:48Speaker 3: or watching, and we listene you all next time, did
- 1:34:50Speaker 3: it force be with you
