- 5:00right after the show. There's a bunch of specials
- 5:06right now, Charlie. There's some.
- 5:08Here we go a bunch. The Scoot doesn't like steak.
- 5:11Look at you. You're still sexy, Charlie.
- 5:13You're still sexy. That's a lot.
- 5:15That's a. Lot of me you've got up there.
- 5:16Yeah, a lot of meat, a lot of meat with a lot of you.
- 5:23But how you guys doing? Well, good man, how are you?
- 5:27I'm so happy to get you on. I know you've been very, very
- 5:29busy. The season is over.
- 5:31You have to watch that wonderful baseball over there in national
- 5:34world, in Washington, national world.
- 5:36But we all know you. Come from here.
- 5:38We, we all know you come from the New York area, so I mean,
- 5:42there's something to say about that.
- 5:43But we got a lot of baseball to get into, my friends, and to let
- 5:50you get into the conversation. We're going to bring some fish
- 5:52in and we're going to get into it because there's there's so
- 5:55much that we need to get into and we're going to whip around
- 5:59right now. Now let's go deep, deep inside
- 6:02what I am excited. This is inside baseball all.
- 6:08Right, Charlie, welcome to our segment Inside Baseball.
- 6:12Thanks for humouring us tonight. We got a bunch of topics we'd
- 6:16like you to have some input on going on in the early offseason
- 6:21here so far this year. So let's get into the Inside
- 6:24Baseball viewpoint here and we'll get it going with our
- 6:28first topic tonight and we should have the music going.
- 6:32Anyone. Second, Tommy doesn't.
- 6:35Doesn't. I'm not doing any freaking tag.
- 6:38There we go, we got it. Here it is.
- 6:40The Mets have given Devin Williams quite a large contract.
- 6:46Three years, 51,000,006 million of which is a signing bonus.
- 6:51So it's really three years, 45,000,000.
- 6:53No opt outs or options deferred over the span of three years for
- 6:57that signing bonus. So Williams follows Juan Soto as
- 7:00Yankees acquisitions who bolted for Uncle Stevie's money over in
- 7:03Queens the last two years. Advanced Analytics say Williams
- 7:07was very unlucky last year and should have been much better
- 7:10than he was. That's kind of funny because I
- 7:12remember him being mostly horrendous for a team that
- 7:15needed him to be much better than that.
- 7:17I'm sure it'll work out for the Mets though, Harold.
- 7:21I love it. I think it's great for the Mets.
- 7:24Edwin Diaz has a chance to be a Met too.
- 7:26I think the Mets will re sign him and then you have probably
- 7:29the best 1-2 punch in baseball in your bullpen.
- 7:32I I think Devin Williams was very unlucky last year.
- 7:35Now you just got to get Pete Alonzo signed to the dotted line
- 7:38and then maybe you make a run for scuba.
- 7:41I think it makes a lot of sense for the Mets rotation.
- 7:43You will add scuba and Devin Williams and you bring back Pete
- 7:47Alonzo and Edwin Diaz. I think you have the best summer
- 7:52out. I think it's a slam dunk for the
- 7:54New York Mets. I think they have to sign Diaz.
- 7:57I mean, he's the guy that's really proven.
- 7:59I mean, Williams best days in the big leagues really one year
- 8:02as a as a closer before that a setup guy.
- 8:06And he had a lot of issues last year pitching for the Yankees.
- 8:09And I guess you put me in the category of being old when you
- 8:13mentioned that he was unlucky based on expected stats.
- 8:17So I'm going to throw a question at Java.
- 8:20Don't you wish when you were playing your your agent could
- 8:23negotiate a deal on expected stats versus what actually
- 8:27happened? I mean, now when a hitter's
- 8:32getting credit for a ball is hit and it doesn't matter if it's
- 8:35caught or not, I mean, it's expected.
- 8:37Stats now mean more than what actually happens.
- 8:41Yeah, it's, it's weird too. And if you go even a step
- 8:44further, Charlie too, it's like, okay, he got out, but his exit
- 8:47velocity and all the other stuff that they they have and it's
- 8:49like then they translate it to parks and he would actually hit
- 8:5210 more homers or whatever. And, you know, a lot of pitches
- 8:55are doing that with like their vertical and horizontal rise on
- 8:59certain mounds when they look at like, hey, I pitched better
- 9:02here. And then now they're doing the
- 9:03analytics of the way the mound sits in this, which is way above
- 9:07my pay grade. I don't know how they do that or
- 9:09whatever. Now on the scoreboard, you can
- 9:10see it as it happens. But yeah, I just, I don't know
- 9:14how to quantify the fact. It's like, OK, I'm getting
- 9:16credit for being kind of good, but it didn't really do I I
- 9:21think it's a great sign for both in the in the way they kind of
- 9:25structured the deal, obviously. And it's not like anything is
- 9:28going to catch him off guard now just because the Mets are a
- 9:31little different than the Yankees, but not as much as
- 9:34going from Milwaukee to New York and and especially with the
- 9:37Yankees. So I think it's great too.
- 9:39And, and I think for him, he's not going to have all the
- 9:41pressure if they do sign Diaz back.
- 9:43If they don't, that's we could be having a different
- 9:45conversation when it comes down to what happens at the end of
- 9:48the game. You think the expected stats are
- 9:50going to matter for Kyle Schwarber?
- 9:52I don't think so. I think he's just doing a yes, I
- 9:56was going to mention the expected stats too, because the
- 9:58Brewers were kind of skewed the other way.
- 10:00Like I think in that in that park and Charlie, I know you've
- 10:03broadcasted a lot of games there too.
- 10:04You could mostly turn into a pitcher's park.
- 10:06Sometimes when the roof is closed, it could be open and
- 10:08then it could be a hitter's park again.
- 10:10So it could fluctuate with that. With the Yankees, it's the other
- 10:12extreme and all the AL ES ballparks, the other extreme.
- 10:14Now the Mets, it's a different case where they're mostly a
- 10:17pitcher's park. The Phillies are a big hitter's
- 10:18park and the Braves kind of fluctuate.
- 10:20So I think it's going to kind of cancel out in a way.
- 10:22So again, I agree with you, Charlie.
- 10:24I think they do have to lock up Diaz too.
- 10:26If they don't do that then it doesn't look as good doing both.
- 10:30But I think I for the deferred money, for the overall money
- 10:33he's getting with the signing bonus instead of the base
- 10:35salary, I think it's good. I think the success with him in
- 10:38the National League makes a lot of sense why he went back to the
- 10:40National League and now I want to say in the American League
- 10:43East, because he was one of the best relief pitchers in all the
- 10:46baseball in the National League, and he became one of the worst
- 10:49relief pitchers in baseball in the American League.
- 10:51So I think he just wanted to jump ship.
- 10:53He wanted to get the hell out of the American League.
- 10:55I wonder this, I don't know this, this is maybe a better
- 10:57question for our baseball experts here.
- 11:00If it is it something where if you're a change of pitcher, like
- 11:02he's a change of pitcher, the Airbender, if he can't place his
- 11:06fastball, the change up's not going to work.
- 11:09So is it just a matter of him just fixing the mechanics on the
- 11:13fastball enough that he can place it to get the change up,
- 11:17which is apparently still fine according to those metrics and
- 11:19stuff rates to get back to it so that he can be effective for the
- 11:23Mets as a setup man for Diaz if they resign Diaz?
- 11:28Yeah, I mean, it's it, it pit, they play off each other.
- 11:31And I think that's any, any pitcher where if that's your
- 11:35strength, you always like everything goes with that.
- 11:37Like if I couldn't throw my fastball, for me, I would spin a
- 11:40slider because it'd get me back over.
- 11:42And for him, I couldn't, I couldn't throw a change up of my
- 11:44life depended on it. So I, I can't tell you how I
- 11:47tried everything under the sun to try and do it.
- 11:49But for him, it's like he just has to be somewhere in the
- 11:52vicinity because the metrics on his board horizontal and
- 11:56vertical with his change up and how he's able to over pronate
- 11:59because you naturally pronate on a baseball.
- 12:01And what did he just has to be somewhere near the zone of this
- 12:04fastball. And we seem to be as high as
- 12:069798, but we also saw it saw it at 9293, which it doesn't really
- 12:11matter because it comes out of the same slot.
- 12:13So you're going to have like that one pitch that gets you
- 12:17there. And for him, his fastball just
- 12:19has to be somewhere in the vicinity for his change up to
- 12:22work. Because it's not like the same
- 12:25as Trevor Hoffman, who didn't need anything else, right?
- 12:27All I mean he just threw change up after change.
- 12:30Up. I guess we'll find out if he can
- 12:32get it squared away. Let's move on to our next set of
- 12:36signings. And this one is related because
- 12:39it's a now former Mets hopeful, late inning reliever Ryan
- 12:44Helsley, who gets a two year $28 million deal from the Baltimore
- 12:48Orioles. Jeff Passan reports the Orioles
- 12:50signed Ryan Helsley to A2 year $28 million deal with an OPT out
- 12:54after the first year. Ports say Tigers and Cubs were
- 12:56interested in signing Helsley and converting him to a starter.
- 13:00Helsley's another one of those advanced analytics darlings
- 13:04because of his stuffed metrics, particularly his fastball.
- 13:07But again, this time the Mets fans who saw him be borderline
- 13:10unplayable last year after they acquired him at the deadline.
- 13:13Borderline might be generous body.
- 13:14Guys get traded middle of the year, don't have big impacts on
- 13:18on their new club, but he had one of the most negative impacts
- 13:21of a guy being traded at the deadline over those final two
- 13:24months of the season. But it's all being attributed to
- 13:27that. He was tipping pitches and it
- 13:29took him a long time to figure it out.
- 13:31But he thinks he has figured it out.
- 13:33And I guess the Orioles believe it or they wouldn't be putting
- 13:35this money up front. They think he's going to be the
- 13:38pitcher that had great success with the Cardinals.
- 13:40I think the Mets are getting slapped in the face because they
- 13:43gave up all these prospects and it didn't turn around for them.
- 13:47He didn't do nothing for him. He was horrible.
- 13:49I think his ERA at one point was over 10.
- 13:52He was Devin Williams of the New York Yankees early in the
- 13:55season. Devin Williams got better in the
- 13:57second-half. Helsley was traded in the going
- 14:01into the second-half at the trade deadline and just I don't
- 14:05know, I honestly think the Mets should have just sent him down
- 14:08to AAA because he was he was playing like a AAA pitcher.
- 14:12So I don't know what he's going to be with the Orioles.
- 14:15He is jumping to the American League East with power teams
- 14:19like Boston, the Yankees, the Rays.
- 14:22I it doesn't bold well for him and he maybe he should talk to
- 14:25Devin Williams because it seems like it's a transition from 1:00
- 14:29one to the other. I I would say I would hope that
- 14:32Halsey looks a lot better this year in the American League
- 14:36East. I bet.
- 14:37I would say don't bet on it. Yeah, as as annoying as I could
- 14:41be with the Mets and what it was, I will be objective and say
- 14:43his peak value was still very strong.
- 14:45He was just he's kind of one of those year to year.
- 14:47Like he's very good in some of his peak years.
- 14:50That 2021 year with the Cardinals when they that big
- 14:52comeback to make the playoffs was kind of his peak year.
- 14:54And then he's had some other good ones after that too.
- 14:56But the, the reason that I you worry about it is because a lot
- 14:59of the struggles and Charlie, you know, this broadcasting like
- 15:02the Nationals and like a lot of these other bad teams had the
- 15:05biggest innings against him. And that was a big reason why I
- 15:08think that you guys beat us 5 another six times, like in the
- 15:11second-half of the season. The Marlins are beating all over
- 15:13them. So the Orioles are now going to
- 15:14have to face a division that's very tough to go along with that
- 15:17and an American League collectively that, I mean, the
- 15:19AL East is good. The AL West is pretty good too,
- 15:22outside of the Athletics and the Angels really like you're
- 15:24looking at a case of that's going to be some good
- 15:26competition. The Orioles are the Browns of
- 15:29baseball. That's who they are.
- 15:31That's harsh. They're the Browns of baseball.
- 15:33They have all this talent and everybody talks so highly of
- 15:36them. Remember the Browns with Baker
- 15:37Mayfield after they they had that talented and they had a
- 15:40great year again and lose to Kansas City in the playoffs and
- 15:43they were one expected to possibly win the Super Bowl as
- 15:46Speedy Adam going to the Super Bowl that year.
- 15:49And they completely fell off track and then they winded up
- 15:52moving Baker Mayfield in a year, year's time, that is the
- 15:55Orioles. They had all this talent.
- 15:58Everybody expects this talent to develop and they slowly but
- 16:02surely can't afford them and they move away from them.
- 16:04This is a perfect comparison. Browns.
- 16:07Orioles. You might be giving the Browns
- 16:10you. Know Johnny?
- 16:10Where are you buddy? Now he was right about that.
- 16:13Trade though, because. In addition to Helsley, Cedric
- 16:15Bowles was God awful too that he was benched.
- 16:17And he just got traded to the Rays.
- 16:19Yes, he did. I actually signed as a free
- 16:22agent. Today, our free agent.
- 16:23Yeah, but sometimes I've talked about this and.
- 16:26And you've seen it too, Charlie, where it's like, and I think we
- 16:29all have is sometimes change of scenery does more for people
- 16:32than they think just because it it might be and it might just
- 16:36not be the baseball side of it, which a lot of people don't
- 16:39understand. They, you know, that there's so
- 16:41much more to the season than the 9 innings that you see.
- 16:43Like there's, you know, family arrangement, there's, you know,
- 16:46travel. There's, there's so much more
- 16:48that goes into what a baseball season is that a lot of people
- 16:51don't understand that goes into, you know, obviously people
- 16:55playing hurt and whatever. That's yeah, that's obviously
- 16:57part of the game with, with the season and the grueling schedule
- 17:00that we have. But there's so many factors that
- 17:02go into it where it's like, man, I just need to get out of here.
- 17:05We've seen obviously and so. I think on the whole, I mean,
- 17:12you could, you know, throw what you think in on this.
- 17:14Players traded in the middle of the year.
- 17:17If if you look at all of them over a period of time, they're
- 17:20very few that have a great success with their new club.
- 17:24Over those final few months, you talked about all the things that
- 17:27happened, family upheaval. Now you got the pressure team
- 17:30traded for you, they're expecting you to deliver and
- 17:34maybe you weren't you maybe you were traded because you weren't
- 17:37having a great year and now you're expected to figure it all
- 17:39out to help the team that's in contention.
- 17:42That's that's more pressure than you had at any point during the
- 17:45during the year and try a lot of guys don't do well in that
- 17:48situation. And you know, when player
- 17:50becomes a free agent, they'd rather see who signs now will
- 17:55come to the winter meetings. Nobody likes waiting around
- 17:57until late January, early February and spring trading
- 18:00starting. And they got to figure all that
- 18:02out and then and then get to Arizona or Florida, right?
- 18:05Away yeah, it's it's tough like I've done it both ways for
- 18:08agency I've never ever done it during the year but obviously
- 18:12been a part of the things that guys getting traded.
- 18:14I've always, I've always wondered the, the perception,
- 18:17the mindset for guys. And I hope I get an opportunity
- 18:20to ask somebody. This is what it's like going
- 18:24from a team that like you kind of said where you might suck and
- 18:27you're out of it, but then you're coming to a team that now
- 18:30is in it and they're expecting you to figure something out
- 18:32because they've seen glimpses of it.
- 18:34And then vice versa of like, Hey, I was in it.
- 18:36Now they can't afford me. I'm going to get too expensive,
- 18:38so they're going to get rid of me.
- 18:40And then it's like, you end up like playing for what?
- 18:42Like I, I would like to know like the mindset and the
- 18:45perspective that you go and it's like, Hey, tell your family to
- 18:47go home because we can start packing our bags for vacation.
- 18:51And now it's like, hey, you might want to hold off on this
- 18:53vacation because now we got a chance to be in the play
- 18:55outline. I wonder what that like
- 18:57perspective that mindset because you only get 3 days.
- 19:00Yeah, You know, it's interesting.
- 19:01A couple of years ago the Nationals had signed Jesse
- 19:04Winker and he was coming off a couple really bad years.
- 19:07He was getting booed out of Seattle.
- 19:10He didn't do well in Milwaukee, was getting booed there.
- 19:13The Nationals signed him. If he did well, the team wasn't
- 19:17in contention. They were going to trade him.
- 19:18And he was having a very good year for the Nationals and was
- 19:21ecstatic when he got traded to the Mets.
- 19:23And he was a big impact player, so much so that the Mets
- 19:27resigned him last year. Unfortunately, the injuries he
- 19:30had oblique injuries, you know, can take a long time.
- 19:33And then he he got hurt again, never recovered from his
- 19:37injuries. That's the other thing, you
- 19:39know, if you're a player who's traded, who's been hurt.
- 19:41Even Kyle Schwarber when he had that monster June for the
- 19:44Nationals in 21 when he hit sixteen home runs.
- 19:48He was having an unbelievable year and then blows A hamstring.
- 19:51The Nationals have a terrible July and they got all these
- 19:53players on expiring contracts including Schwarber who was a
- 19:57non tender off his previous year with the Cubs.
- 19:59When the National signed him they traded him to the Red Sox.
- 20:02He didn't play for like 6 weeks till that hamstring healed.
- 20:06He did OK with them, but that still helped him get that big
- 20:09deal that now has expired with the Phillies.
- 20:12But you know you I can count very few that are traded in the
- 20:16middle of the year and have great success and parlay that
- 20:20into another big deal, whether with the club they were traded
- 20:22to, Usually not not. I mean, most times you see that
- 20:26that player never resigns with a team that they were treated to
- 20:29like Helsley. Another TOE job.
- 20:32Charlie, it's funny, you bet you mentioned the Jesse Waker thing
- 20:34five years ago, like 2019 or so. Like best fans hated him because
- 20:37he was taunting them when he was with Cincinnati.
- 20:39I was actually at the game right after that, they lost one
- 20:42nothing and he caught the game where he in left field, the game
- 20:45where he catch for it and they were still booing him at that
- 20:47point and then five years later they all love him.
- 20:49He tastes himself all. Right, let's get to the next
- 20:53topic. I'm going to combine these two
- 20:55together because they're both about the Toronto Blue Jays.
- 20:58Let's start with the big news. The Blue Jays, John Heyman
- 21:01reports, have signed Dylan sees to A7 year $210 million deal
- 21:08comes out today. Actually 61 million of it is
- 21:11deferred, spread out between 2027 and 2032.
- 21:15You will also receive a $23 million signing bonus that can
- 21:18be deferred. This is despite an only 8 and 12
- 21:22record on a good team with a 4 1/2 ERFA with his usual
- 21:27impressive strikeout total of 215.
- 21:32I don't know. I mean, obviously the Blue Jays
- 21:35only have Gaussman and Bieber on expiring contracts this year,
- 21:39but I don't know if this is where I'm spending my money
- 21:42after what I saw him do on a team that was trying to compete
- 21:46if they're trying to get over the top.
- 21:47Well, I will say this. Bieber is no longer going to be
- 21:50a part of his team. He pitched so very well in in
- 21:54the World Series and throughout the playoffs.
- 21:57I expect Bieber to get at least 20 million.
- 21:59I don't think the Blue Jays are going to pay him because they
- 22:02gave Dylan Sees this kind of money.
- 22:03Now Dylan Sees is a good pitcher.
- 22:06Is he an elite pitcher? Is he worth 210 million?
- 22:10No. Now the Blue Jays are reaching
- 22:12and hopefully Dylan Sees coming to the American League East a
- 22:16harder division, probably the hardest division in all of
- 22:18baseball. It works out for him.
- 22:20This is very Blue Jays like to go after a pitcher because he's
- 22:26available and he looks like he's a shiny, shiny dollar or shiny
- 22:31100 and or shiny coin and it's going to turn into gold.
- 22:36I think this is going to be an absolute downfall for the Blue
- 22:39Jays. This is a bad move for them.
- 22:41It doesn't make any sense. But again, it is the Blue Jays
- 22:45and they did give Vladimir Guerrero Junior the money they
- 22:48did up front and it worked out for him.
- 22:50So maybe they hit it out of the ballpark with Dylan CS.
- 22:53My opinion, it's an absolute downfall for them.
- 22:56This is a bad move by them. It's interest.
- 22:58They signed Cody Ponce, who was pitching in the KB O and
- 23:02supposedly turned his pair around and just gave him a
- 23:06three-year, $30 million deal off of what he did in the KBO and
- 23:09expect him to be in the starting rotation with Gozman.
- 23:13You Savage. It was tremendous in the
- 23:15postseason, the young rookie and I and I saw today that they're
- 23:19open to trading Jose Berrios. And then of course you still
- 23:22have Max Scherzer who wants to come back there.
- 23:25If not, some of the talk is that he could end up with the Giants
- 23:28because the guy who was his pitching coach at Missouri in
- 23:32the early 2000s is now the manager of the San Francisco
- 23:37Giants. How about that?
- 23:38That's a. Full circle, yeah.
- 23:39He played against him in Missouri.
- 23:41He threw like 112. He was he he was the only one
- 23:43that beat me that year. He won pitcher of the year.
- 23:45I won Newcomer of the Year. I still hold it against him.
- 23:50I. Bet he hasn't forgotten a second
- 23:51of it because. 100 that dude is that dude is nuts when it comes
- 23:55to like remembering things. And it's just he he he was a
- 23:59very like playing against him and you hear all the stories
- 24:02then having a chance to to play with him in Detroit and I've
- 24:06been playing against him since I've been in college.
- 24:08So kind of just seeing his demeanor as he's gone through he
- 24:12he was a treat. I can I can say that.
- 24:14Here is I was around him for the 6 1/2 years, almost 7 with the
- 24:19nationals. Nothing was more fun than the
- 24:23day he pitched, watching everything he did.
- 24:27There's nobody like him. There just isn't.
- 24:30I mean, he would come in spring training.
- 24:31I was doing AQ and a with a couple of rookie pitchers at the
- 24:34time, and he was standing in the back when the thing was was
- 24:39coming to a close. And I had no idea why he was
- 24:41there. He had no function.
- 24:43He was waiting for those two guys to be done.
- 24:45He's like, come on, rookies. We're going to watch video and
- 24:48that video of him, video of that, because he wanted to help
- 24:52them get better because the only thing that meant is we were
- 24:54going to win more games and that's the only thing he cared
- 24:57about. Did you ever watch his bullpen
- 24:59days? Oh, it's all the time full
- 25:02uniform. He's going out there like I'm
- 25:05watching the coverage of the World Series this year and
- 25:07they're showing like like nobody had ever seen this before.
- 25:11But every day that he pitches, when he goes out his pre warm up
- 25:16in the outfield where he's just working on his pick off move and
- 25:20looking over his shoulder and he's got a routine.
- 25:23You know, they ask why are you throwing your bullpen in full
- 25:25uniform? He goes, well, I'm trying to
- 25:27simulate what I do in the game. I don't pitch in AT shirt in the
- 25:30game. So I'm going to throw in my full
- 25:33uniform. And after, you know, stuff
- 25:35starts to rub off. When Dusty Baker was the
- 25:37manager, he tell young pitchers who were staying around and go
- 25:40watch what Max doing. Go talk to him, find out what he
- 25:43eats, how long he sleeps, find out everything that he does.
- 25:47Not that all of it will translate, but that's the way
- 25:49everyone looked at Max. Yeah, it was funny.
- 25:53One of the I went to a game in 2016 in Washington and like
- 25:56they, you know, obviously has a different two different color
- 25:58eyes. The way they like put it in the
- 26:00left center field. Like I don't know if there's a
- 26:02poster or was like just so kind of ready.
- 26:04Like it was really cool the way they did it with the effects
- 26:07and. Hey, whole season game, Dusty
- 26:11Baker went out there to talk to him.
- 26:13Max didn't want to come out of the game.
- 26:14He goes I'm trying to trust you. I'm looking at two different
- 26:17eyes and Max said. The brown eyes.
- 26:19The baseball eye. And then I saw like all these,
- 26:21all the road teams are doing it on the Jumbotron for a while
- 26:23too. And like they were kind of just
- 26:25duplicated that effect. But you guys did a left center
- 26:27field. It was very cool.
- 26:28Going back to the SEAS contract, if it wasn't a deferred money, I
- 26:31probably would be questioning why it was 7 years because of a
- 26:33guy that's been very injury prone in his career, kind of
- 26:35streaky up and down, good strikeout stuff always
- 26:37throughout his career, but also has been immune to the home run
- 26:39ball for a pitcher of his caliber too.
- 26:41So if it wasn't deferred money, I would probably would question
- 26:44it too. But like I will say it's another
- 26:46veteran right-handed pitcher that goes to the Blue Jays.
- 26:48They already have Gossman who's good barrios.
- 26:50You're saying Charlie, Maybe they trade him now as a result
- 26:52of this. I'm surprised they did it
- 26:53though, as a result of how well you savage pitch in the at the
- 26:56end of the season and then in the.
- 26:57Playoffs. It doesn't make any sense.
- 26:59It really doesn't make any sense.
- 27:01But it's very Blue Jays like everything the Blue Jays does
- 27:05makes no sense. But it it worked out this year
- 27:09with Vladimir Guerrero because he keep he became a playoff
- 27:12superstar. One of the greatest runs I've
- 27:14ever seen a player have throughout a playoff.
- 27:16So maybe they were right about him, but this is.
- 27:20Tell you what it. Makes you shake if.
- 27:22Kinder Falefa doesn't slide. They're the world.
- 27:25They're the world champions. I would agree with.
- 27:28You pretty well it was not. It wasn't A tag play, but I
- 27:31guess instinct said slide when he could have just run right
- 27:35through home plate on a force play.
- 27:37He would have beaten the play and they would have won the
- 27:38World Series. And and and Yankee fans, please
- 27:42Brian Cashman, stay away from kind of falafa.
- 27:45I do not want to. Again, they can.
- 27:48They can have a breakup and then he's going to go back.
- 27:50I do not. They're saying there's, they're
- 27:52saying that the Yankees are the lead team to get him.
- 27:54What are they not? To make him their starting
- 27:57shortstop again, it's. Horrible.
- 27:58It's a horrible move. Brian Cashman, you better not do
- 28:01that. As a utility, As a utility
- 28:04player, OK it. Makes no sense.
- 28:07It makes no. Sense.
- 28:08Well, let's talk about another one of Brian Cashman's wonderful
- 28:11decisions over the years. And now, years later, Sonny Gray
- 28:17ends up on our rival Boston Red Sox.
- 28:24Yes, the Cardinals traded Sonny Gray to the Red Sox.
- 28:26Red Sox #5 overall prospect, right hand pitcher Brandon Clark
- 28:29and right hand pitcher Richard Fitz and a player to be named
- 28:32later a cash considerations. On his way over to Boston, Gray
- 28:35took shots at his now rival and former team, the Yankees, saying
- 28:37he never wanted to be traded there.
- 28:40And they are an organization that are easy to hate.
- 28:43Yankees fans mostly remember Gray as being an absolute
- 28:45disaster in the Bronx and are excited to go see him play the
- 28:48place where he apparently had even worse numbers in his
- 28:51career, Fenway Park, than he did in at Yankee Stadium.
- 28:55So in my opinion, probably the best example, Sonny Gray is a
- 28:59guy who couldn't handle the big media market of New York.
- 29:02Well, I don't think it's going to be a whole lot.
- 29:05I don't think that's going to be a whole lot different in Boston.
- 29:08I mean, New York, Boston and Philadelphia, you got to perform
- 29:12or, or it gets tough really fast.
- 29:15I mean, Saint Louis, this was the first time I've ever seen
- 29:21and the attendance dropped like it did.
- 29:23And you go there and there's 17,000 an ounce and it looked
- 29:26like there were 5000 in the ballpark.
- 29:29But if you played there, you never got booed until this year.
- 29:32You started to see that. But you're talking about if you
- 29:35think you're going to Boston and it's going to be a whole lot
- 29:39less than New York. I don't know.
- 29:41What do you think? Java let me a lot of pressure to
- 29:44play in Boston, Yeah. I don't, I don't know kind of
- 29:47what he was thinking, to be honest with you, Because it's
- 29:52it's funny how he's going to say this to try to get on the good
- 29:56side of Red Sox fan. Because now it's like, OK,
- 29:59you're part of this rivalry, even though you know, you've
- 30:01only played for the Yankees, so on and so forth, right?
- 30:04But if you go back and read it, some of what he said and when in
- 30:07like 2017 and even later, it's, you know, everybody dreams of
- 30:10playing for the Yankees, blah, blah.
- 30:11Now he's talking out of the other side of his mouth, which
- 30:15doesn't do him any good. Because now what's going to
- 30:18happen is he can't win for loser no matter what he does.
- 30:21Because unless he goes out and wins a Cy Young and they win a
- 30:24World Series, he's not going to. He's going to be a fail because
- 30:27he didn't live up to the shit talking that he did to the
- 30:29Yankees fans. He's not going to live Austin
- 30:32fans. And if he doesn't beat New York
- 30:34to add on top of it, this dude might as well crawl in a hole
- 30:36and never come out of Nashville where he lives.
- 30:38He just created the ultimate blackboard material, didn't he?
- 30:43Let me ask Sonny Gray one question.
- 30:45Johnny Damon played for the Yankees for a very long time,
- 30:48and he also played for the Red Sox.
- 30:50Johnny Damon for years took shots at the Red Sox
- 30:53organization that they don't know how to treat players.
- 30:56And then he came to the Yankees and he said the Yankees treat
- 30:59their players like they're golden, like they there are five
- 31:01star restaurants. Everywhere they go is five star.
- 31:04They treat their players with so much respect.
- 31:07And now this guy, because Sonny Gray couldn't get along with the
- 31:09fans, couldn't pitch a lick in New York, he's going to take
- 31:13shots at the fans and take shots at the Yankees organization.
- 31:16You know what I would say to that?
- 31:18Go ask all the former Red Sox that became Yankees how the
- 31:22Yankees treated them because every single one of them that
- 31:25I've heard through the past leaving the Red Sox and came to
- 31:27the Yankees, including Wade Boggs, who came to the Yankees
- 31:32in 96 to win a World Series, said the Yankees organization is
- 31:37so classy. It's one of the classiest
- 31:39organizations I've ever been around.
- 31:41And he was a red sock his whole career.
- 31:43So, Sonny, stop bitching, all right?
- 31:46That's all I'm going to say. All you do is bitch.
- 31:48And you shouldn't be called Sonny anymore.
- 31:50You should be called manly because you don't have a man
- 31:55hair in your pants because you can't say anything right at any
- 32:00view to a Yankee fan. You're a failure with the
- 32:03Yankees and you're going to be a failure with the red.
- 32:05Sox, you know all he had to do, honestly.
- 32:07And the thing that you learn with these bigger markets or any
- 32:11market, if he would have came out and said, yeah, you know
- 32:14what? Because they asked him about the
- 32:16Yankee Red Sox, probably right, Going to look good in so many
- 32:19eyes. Talk about I'm really looking
- 32:21forward to being part of this rivalry.
- 32:22It's a great thing for, you know, for baseball and sports in
- 32:25general. And you know what?
- 32:27I didn't cut it in New York. I want to go out and be better
- 32:30than I was in New York and Boston.
- 32:32They would have had that. He would have been perfect
- 32:34because he would have killed him with kindness on the New York
- 32:37side, because you know what? He admitted he sucked starring.
- 32:39All right, at least whatever. We can't really bag somebody.
- 32:42It's like when you talk about Charlie Sheen, he said he was
- 32:44doing 8G Rots with hookers. You can't talk any worse crap
- 32:47about him because he just told you what it is.
- 32:50So if he goes and says, hey, I'm terrible, sorry, I'm want to be
- 32:54better for this rivalry boom. Like he would have literally
- 32:57been. He could have gotten away with a
- 33:00couple of hiccups and even lose the Yankees and then be like,
- 33:02see, you stink. But Boston been like, OK, he he
- 33:05hit a guy or something. Like there's ways he could have
- 33:07gone about this to look good. In both eyes he set himself up
- 33:11for failure right? But before he even goes throw 1
- 33:14bitch. Randy Johnson won 17 games two
- 33:16years in a row, but he dropped a cameraman and nobody cared what
- 33:20he did. And always become one.
- 33:22As long as she's using dude wipes and taking.
- 33:24Care of my that's. Good.
- 33:25So Charlie, I do have to venture this.
- 33:27This is the origin story. So three years before we ever
- 33:30first had you all the show, I had my trial show essentially at
- 33:34the Worldwide Sports Radio Network, Carol and two other
- 33:37guys and they were talking about guys.
- 33:38Obviously it was July 21st, so it was right around the MLB
- 33:41trade deadline and I forget it was Maddie Caps and it was
- 33:44somebody else that were really wanted, Sonny Gray on the
- 33:47Yankees. You know what I said?
- 33:48Yeah, I remember that. I was very skeptical of it
- 33:51because he was a softer throwing, like not high velocity
- 33:55and not a high strikeout rate pitcher.
- 33:56At that time I was saying they should have tried to trade for
- 33:59Verland. Do you remember the line I used
- 34:00for him? No, I don't.
- 34:02I wish I did. Sonny is a dummy.
- 34:05That's what I said during the show and and that was the line I
- 34:09used and I remember it like it was yesterday.
- 34:11You go back and you remember what, but I said I did not want
- 34:14Sonny Gray. I did not think he was going to
- 34:16work out here. He's small, he's he.
- 34:19He throws a lot of off speed pitches and it wasn't going to
- 34:22work out in Yankee statement. By the way, he gives up a lot of
- 34:25pop ups. Yeah, and I was skeptical of the
- 34:27same thing at the time, too. Now, he was a good postseason
- 34:29pitcher, which is something that the Yankees needed for a while
- 34:31because outside of Tanaka, they really didn't have that second
- 34:34postseason pitcher. And he actually was pretty good
- 34:35with the A's. But I was worried about that
- 34:37when he first got traded over there to the Yankees.
- 34:39And I had a feeling it wasn't going to last over there.
- 34:41And at the time I was he's saying, OK, it's going to be a
- 34:43small parks issue. He goes to Cincinnati and he
- 34:45actually pitches well. So I'm like, no, maybe it was a
- 34:47market issue. And like you both Charlie and
- 34:50Java works in discussing. So like, how much of those can
- 34:52you be able to handle in a super harsh media market?
- 34:54And now you go to Boston. So yes, you might have your
- 34:56chipper on your shoulder getting to play against the Yankees, the
- 34:58other ALS East teams. But again, Fenway Park is no
- 35:01factor to small ballparks either.
- 35:03The rah rah shish kumba. All right, let's move on.
- 35:09We got another one revolving around the Yankees.
- 35:13This one. I actually saw Mr. Jabba
- 35:16Chamberlain tweeting about this while it was happening in real
- 35:19time. How Steinbrenner?
- 35:21I don't know. Said that would be pretty good
- 35:26for the Yankees to save some money this year that, you know,
- 35:30it's not just because the report says that, you know, just like
- 35:35we said with Odell, 100 million goes real quick on Monday.
- 35:39Oh, Hal said that 700 million revenue that the Yankees are
- 35:42getting, you know, there's a lot of costs and overhead that we
- 35:46don't really get it as fans. There's a lot that has to go
- 35:50into it before. So, you know, like the Yankees
- 35:54need to find a way to save some money for Hal's benefit.
- 35:57Mike Francesa, as we know, took lots of shots at Hal for this
- 36:02and said that he added the Dodgers made the Yankees look
- 36:05like an 8 bowl organization. George would have never allowed
- 36:08the Dodgers to do this. I can't believe the Yankees are
- 36:12saying they're not making a profit.
- 36:16I mean, it's not looking the way that we want.
- 36:20When you hear it come out that so many teams in baseball are
- 36:25not turning a profit, I mean, I watched this year Commissioner
- 36:30go around to each team and talk to him about how trying to set
- 36:33the table for the labor negotiations and tell players,
- 36:37you know, this continues. Only a few players are going to
- 36:40make big money and the rest of you are going to be stuck around
- 36:43the minimum. I mean, I've, I've heard that
- 36:45speech from in sports for how many decades now?
- 36:49And you look at every sport, even with the salary cap, you
- 36:52know, the money keeps going up and TV revenue keeps getting
- 36:56bigger and bigger. So at the same time that he's
- 36:59saying this to the players, he comes out of these meetings and
- 37:03talks to reporters and you have all these new TV deals coming in
- 37:07that he's setting up now to run through 28 before they put it
- 37:11all up for auction, including streaming package to involve as
- 37:14many teams as possible. And then say that attendance on
- 37:18average baseball better than it's ever been.
- 37:21So if you're a player, you're hearing two different stories
- 37:24coming from, you know, each side of his mouth, unless, you know,
- 37:29you look back my previous life, I worked in the NBA for 11
- 37:32years. The NBA had the boom after the
- 37:35salary cap. And they did that to save the
- 37:37league. But the only way it worked with
- 37:39the union is they opened the books and said, we're going to
- 37:42give you 51% of everything that we make and you're going to be
- 37:46able to see it. The baseball owners want a
- 37:48salary cap. They're never going to open the
- 37:50books and show you all the money that they're making that's
- 37:54outside of attendance and all these other deals.
- 37:56And who knows what is involved with these betting companies
- 37:59that are doing all this advertising.
- 38:01And if we ever go there, the worst thing that's ever happened
- 38:08to sports and athletes because you all I can say is what did
- 38:13they think was going to happen? I will.
- 38:16I will say this, I like Mike Francesi.
- 38:18Everybody knows he's a guy that I look up to when it comes to
- 38:21radio, and I love that he attacked Hal Steinbrenner.
- 38:25But the fact here is the Yankees are one of the richest teams in
- 38:30all of professional baseball. And Francesca.
- 38:32Yankees and Dallas Cowboys, right?
- 38:34Yeah. And Francesca, and they sell
- 38:36more. I buy more.
- 38:37I buy more Yankee hats than anybody does.
- 38:39So I know I put a lot of money in the Yankees pockets.
- 38:42So if I'm doing it, I know there's other fans doing the
- 38:45same thing. I've got a million different
- 38:47hats and different colors for the New York Yankees.
- 38:50I absolutely believe that Al Steinbrenner is making excuses.
- 38:53I don't like to defer money. I think baseball needs to step
- 38:55in and do something about it. But nevertheless, I think he's
- 38:59absolutely right. The Yankees should be going out
- 39:01there and spending mucho De Niro, even though they're one of
- 39:04the the top five teams in baseball.
- 39:06They were the number one team in baseball when it comes to
- 39:08salaries and now they fall into 3rd or 4th.
- 39:11That to me is a problem. And when the Yankees are getting
- 39:14outbidden for Juan Soto, even though I didn't want Juan Soto,
- 39:18I I put it on paper. I I did not want to keep Juan
- 39:21Soto. I just believe that it was
- 39:23embarrassing watching the Mets win a bidding contest for Juan
- 39:28Soto. It was embarrassing.
- 39:29And the Yankees. And he's right.
- 39:31Francesca's right. George Steinbetter would have
- 39:33never let that happen. No way, No way.
- 39:35Never let that happen. Well.
- 39:36He he he probably would not have gone through the season without
- 39:40making a change in the dugout, either.
- 39:42Yeah, he would have gotten to a lot more extreme measures.
- 39:44And you're talking about like you were mentioning Charlie too,
- 39:46like some of these owners that aren't going to change their
- 39:48ways just based on that too. Like George Steinbrenner was
- 39:51still going to commit to his way no matter what if he was still
- 39:53there. Hal Steinbrenner is still going
- 39:55to. I'm not going to say like spend
- 39:57like like the Brewers do or anything like that, but.
- 39:59Like, you know, the biggest problem they have in the game
- 40:01when they talk about, oh, we need a salary cap because of
- 40:04competitive balance, OK, well, all these teams taking revenue
- 40:09sharing. There's nothing that forces
- 40:11them, although there there was a penalty involved like for the
- 40:14Marlins and the Pirates, at some point they had to add more money
- 40:17to payroll to avoid a penalty. I remember that.
- 40:20But most of the time we don't know if this revenue sharing
- 40:22that's going to these smaller market teams is going
- 40:25immediately into the Major League payroll.
- 40:28And you know, their way around that is to just add more teams
- 40:32to be allowed to get into the playoffs.
- 40:34And that way, you know, those teams that don't spend go, you
- 40:37know, what, if we have a lucky year, we we had a few pieces and
- 40:41we're hanging around 500 in July.
- 40:44We're in the wild card hunt here and we have a shot.
- 40:46And then maybe we get in and maybe we get lucky and and get
- 40:49deep in the tournament. So that's but to me and and I
- 40:55love to hear like with Jabba being an ex player with this,
- 40:59the difference salary and how much you spend.
- 41:03Even though the Dodgers are back-to-back, there's no
- 41:05guarantee that you're going to be healthy enough to get through
- 41:08the postseason win. But but it what it does do is
- 41:13sell out your ballpark during the regular season.
- 41:15And that's why they have all that money.
- 41:17And the teams that look at San Diego, if you go back 15 years,
- 41:21they didn't have big crowds coming to Petco Park.
- 41:24Now you added superstars to that team and that's one of the best
- 41:28atmospheres in baseball. That's it's amazing to go watch
- 41:31a Padres game there. It doesn't, no matter who
- 41:33they're playing, it's just a tremendous atmosphere and a
- 41:36ballpark is sold out every night and that's why they have the
- 41:39money to spend and give these these these big contracts.
- 41:42But that's what fills the seats. People are not going to go watch
- 41:45a team that doesn't have any star players on a cold night in
- 41:49April or September unless they're in contention and you
- 41:52have a chance to win. Yeah, I think and they go hand
- 41:56in hand because they they spend the money to have those guys
- 42:00with jersey sales, with all the other stuff to get people in the
- 42:04seats. But then why the TV deals keep
- 42:07coming is because now it's like, OK, well, if they're not
- 42:10watching here, they're watching it somewhere else and they're
- 42:12going to they're going to buy whatever package or whatever it
- 42:15is to be able to make sure that they watch their favorite
- 42:18player. They could live all the way
- 42:19across the country and then do that.
- 42:21But then they follow them no matter what.
- 42:23If you switch teams, though, some don't whatever, but it
- 42:26just, I think it goes hand in hand.
- 42:27And it was always funny too, because it's like once the
- 42:30playoffs start, obviously you go into playoff shares, you're
- 42:33going as well. How much money is actually
- 42:35really going into the pocket? I know you travel with both
- 42:38accountants and but I know it's ticket sales, but then it's like
- 42:41OK, concessions and all the other stuff.
- 42:43And what goes with that and the ticket prices from the stuff
- 42:47that you don't sell because then what do they go?
- 42:50It's it's all interesting, but you're 100% right because what
- 42:54are they doing is putting names in seats and they can pay this
- 42:58money now because of all these extra things that they did.
- 43:01And you see why other teams aren't making a bunch of money
- 43:04even though they have a buttload of money is because they don't
- 43:07have any other team they want to watch so that you don't want to
- 43:10watch them. What then?
- 43:11Then what's it matter? Like you're not going to get in
- 43:13anyways. It was what that is probably 10
- 43:16years ago when the Marlins were getting in trouble.
- 43:18Then they signed Jose Reyes and Burley in the same year and they
- 43:21thought they were going to win. You know, well, obviously that
- 43:24didn't, you know, it's owning a baseball team is being part of a
- 43:28big exclusive club. And, and I think for some, it's
- 43:33just to be in the club and that's good enough.
- 43:36And I, I, you know, I don't feel like when I watch some
- 43:40franchises that they put themselves in a position to win
- 43:44and, and to succeed both on and off the field.
- 43:47Because, you know, a team like the Padres maybe hasn't won a
- 43:50World Series. But now still, in terms of what
- 43:54they do to be competitive every year and put people in the park,
- 43:57they're, they're right in the, they're in the elite.
- 43:59They're in the top three or four in baseball now.
- 44:02I, I want to say something, not fish.
- 44:05Jabba, you brought up accountants and where the money
- 44:08is going. That reminds me of somebody that
- 44:10played for the Dodgers, somebody that had five or six accountants
- 44:15and didn't know where 20 something $1,000,000 was going.
- 44:18And Jabba was one of very few people that came out and said,
- 44:23well, we don't know what he did, so we don't know what he did.
- 44:26We can't blame him for it. I'm going to tell you, John,
- 44:33he's guilty. That's all I'm going to say.
- 44:35Baseball. Was not by who?
- 44:37By whose standards? Who's he guilty at?
- 44:38Yours. Everybody's standard that's been
- 44:41on this show, ex baseball players, but you, you're the
- 44:45only one that thinks that he knew nothing about this and he
- 44:49should be absolutely let go and let it flow.
- 44:53You're the only one, the only one that's been on this show
- 44:56that has come out and said that he knew nothing about it.
- 44:58Hey, if you're standing by yourself, even if you're
- 45:00standing. Doesn't matter.
- 45:04Interesting. Well, maybe we'll find out more
- 45:06about that case next. Time.
- 45:07I doubt it. No, you won't.
- 45:09I doubt it. John was going to be hired as
- 45:13the guy to cover all of it up. I doubt it.
- 45:15Anyways, Charlie, we love you man, and we'd love for you to
- 45:19come on whenever you want. If you want to stay on, we have
- 45:22to interview Quinton Jammer. You can stay in the back.
- 45:24If we have other segments, you can come and join us after that.
- 45:27But you're more than welcome to. But we are going to have a very
- 45:30special guest, first time on our show, Quinton Jammer, who's
- 45:32going to be joining us. But we do have my deuce of the
- 45:35day. The deuce of the day.
- 45:38You log, not a log. I don't have a log but.
- 45:49Yeah, ladies and gentlemen, I really don't know what's going
- 45:52on in Clipperville. It really makes no sense.
- 45:55And this story seems to be just absolutely ridiculous as Chris
- 46:01Paul went on social media 5 minutes ago, well before before
- 46:06the game where I really before shoot around and said just found
- 46:10out I'm being sent home. And what's so interesting about
- 46:14this story is Chris Paul wasn't told at any point before the
- 46:20before the game or really heading to the really heading to
- 46:24the basketball, the Clipper, you know, the Staples Center,
- 46:27wherever the hell he was, he was he he was Lawrence Frank reached
- 46:32out to him and said something very interesting and said like,
- 46:35listen, we're going, we're going to let you go.
- 46:37We're going to do whatever we can to give you an opportunity
- 46:41for your next step of your career.
- 46:43So we're going to do whatever we can to help you with your next
- 46:45step. And then Lawrence Frank went out
- 46:48on social media and said this about Chris Paul.
- 46:52He said Chris is a legendary Clipper who has had a historic
- 46:57career. I want to make one thing very
- 47:00clear. No one is blaming Chris for our
- 47:04underperformance. I accept responsibility for the
- 47:08record we have right now. No one is blaming Chris for our
- 47:12underperformance. I accept.
- 47:15And then he says there are a lot of reasons why we have
- 47:19struggled. We're grateful for the impact
- 47:23Chris has made on the franchise. You know, and now there's
- 47:27stories coming out that him and Tyronn Lue, we're not getting
- 47:29along. And maybe one of the reasons why
- 47:32is because Tyronn Lue was his back out, but backup point guard
- 47:36over there in Charlotte. I don't know what the story is,
- 47:39but you can see that Tyronn Lue and Chris Paul did not like each
- 47:43other. There was back and forth banter
- 47:45early this season about how this is going to work.
- 47:48He wanted to come back to Clipperville because that was
- 47:50where he loved his time playing basketball.
- 47:53He said that his best time of his basketball career was
- 47:57playing for Lob City and Doc Rivers.
- 47:59We know Lawrence Frank was a part of the, I think he was the
- 48:03assistant, one of the assistant coaches over there under Doc
- 48:06Rivers, if I'm not mistaken. And now he's the the president
- 48:09of basketball operations over there with the Clippers.
- 48:12I don't get this. I think that it just shows
- 48:14Lawrence Frank doesn't know what he's doing and that Tyronn Lue
- 48:18seems to have all the power in the world to push out a Hall of
- 48:22Famer, one of the great point guards we've seen in the last 15
- 48:25years of the NBA. Everybody keeps talking and
- 48:27comparing point guards and why I believe Chris Paul is in a top
- 48:30five point guard of all time. This guy is definitely a top
- 48:34five point guard of all time defensively and offensively.
- 48:37Yes, he's never won a title. Yes, he's never taken a team.
- 48:41Well, he's been to 1 Finals. Actually.
- 48:42He did it with Phoenix, but nobody remembers that.
- 48:45But he really, to me, he had many, many chances to be a part
- 48:50of good organizations, one of them the Lakers.
- 48:52But David Stern decided to step in and make sure that didn't
- 48:56happen. He probably wins three titles
- 48:59over there with the with the Lakers.
- 49:01If he did get traded over there, he just has had bad luck and
- 49:04couldn't stay healthy on his playoff runs.
- 49:07I do believe this guy is one of the more underachieving players
- 49:12we've ever seen in NBA history, but absolutely one of the
- 49:15greatest point guards I've ever seen.
- 49:16And this is a shameful thing the Clippers did to one of their
- 49:19biggest superstars. I think this is wrong.
- 49:21I think Tyronn Lue should be fired because the reason why
- 49:24they're not winning is because of the coaching.
- 49:26He doesn't know what he's doing. His rotation is putrid,
- 49:29terrible, disgusting, and he doesn't have enough talent
- 49:32there. He's got a bunch of washed up
- 49:34players really that are bullhogs.
- 49:36That's about it. Anyways, it was a wonderful
- 49:39show. I I will say that the content
- 49:40was great. By the way, thank you to Charlie
- 49:42Slows for joining us. He was sensational.
- 49:44We really appreciate him. He gave us some great takes and
- 49:48baseball is nothing without Charlie Slows and the jobster.
- 49:52And we could add Nick Goody on that one.
- 49:54But Nicky is coaching some young baseball.
- 49:58But we'll have Nick Goody on next week.
- 50:00So thank you to all the fans on all the social medias by guys
- 50:04that reached out to me during the show wondering what happened
- 50:06to quitting Jammer. You guys know now.
- 50:08So I apologize to the fans if I upsetted them on not getting the
- 50:13interview out again. We'll get Quentin Jammer on the
- 50:17show. I'll get a chance to have a
- 50:18conversation with him and hopefully clean up whatever
- 50:22happened in in any kind of way. That's why when you get a guest
- 50:26on the show, he's supposed to have a conversation on what he
- 50:30wants to talk about if if he's going to if he doesn't like the
- 50:34offset stuff that we, you know, we usually do on this show.
- 50:37That's what I would say on that. And hopefully he's not in his
- 50:40car the next time he comes on a show.
- 50:42I hate that. But anyways, again, thank you to
- 50:45all the Spotify Apple fans, the YouTube fans, the TikTok fans,
- 50:51the Twitter fans, the X fans, all the fans on all our show
- 50:55Instagram, all the fans following us, keep following us
- 50:59on, keep downloading us and keep enjoying the content that we put
- 51:03out. I again, I have a story up there
- 51:05about New York radio and I think people should check it out.
- 51:09It is a great, it's a great read all right, and if you like New
- 51:13York sports and you're wondering why New York sports sucks so
- 51:16much, maybe you should read that anyways.
- 51:21I, I have to laugh because I, I enjoy the show and I, I think
- 51:24our show is one of the best in in the country.
- 51:27And I think if nobody is tuned into it or had a chance to tune
- 51:31into it, it doesn't know what we do on this show.
- 51:33Well, now you know, and you know that we, we, we could be
- 51:37outlandishly crazy and funny at the same time, but we know our
- 51:41stuff. We know our sports and we have a
- 51:42lot of fun doing it. So we appreciate all the fans
- 51:45that stand by us and listen to us and watch us and tune into us
- 51:49every single week. Yeah.
- 51:51What do we have on? Who do we have on next week?
- 51:53So Nathan was able to get one of Connor Harris.
- 51:56He's a player for the Savannah Bananas.
- 51:57He'll be joining us Monday at at 8:45.
- 52:00I'm going to try to get our friend Adam Vyrant, the coach as
- 52:02well. I'm going to see if he'll join.
- 52:03He'll come well if if his players coming on.
- 52:05So he'll be on Monday and then on Wednesday.
- 52:07Matt Gage, he pitched this season.
- 52:09He's a relief pitcher, played for the Giants and the Tigers
- 52:11this season. He'll be joining us on Wednesday
- 52:13at 9:00. That'll be fun.
- 52:15A little gagey. Well, it's not Gage, you know,
- 52:18just engage or whatever. He's a football player.
- 52:21I know, I know. Anyways, yeah, it's been a great
- 52:25one. Again, fans, if you missed any
- 52:27of the show, go check it out. Go check it out on Job on the
- 52:30Mouth, Spotify and Apple, YouTube.
- 52:33We'll have clips. You know, by the way, Jared is
- 52:36one more week with us, right? Jared?
- 52:38I think it's one more week with us.
- 52:40Yeah, I believe that's right. Yeah, and and and Jared, I don't
- 52:43know, Jared, you could come on whenever you want.
- 52:45So it's not one more week if you want to join us whenever you
- 52:47want to join us, you could be a stay there.
- 52:49Two more. I'm sorry, two more weeks like
- 52:52a. That one over like a Fardon
- 52:53church. As it always does.
- 52:55Anyways, again, we appreciate you guys.
- 52:57We love you. Stay tuned on Friday.
- 53:01We've got another show, Speedy. Friday.
- 53:04Friday we have I'm sorry today. Oh, tomorrow.
- 53:07I'm sorry. Thursday.
- 53:08Game on with Josh Silverberg and probably his father at 6:00 PM
- 53:12in the Worldwide Sports Radio. Can I give him, what is his
- 53:14father's name? Kahlson Nelson.
- 53:16Nellie Nell. We love Nelson.
- 53:19He's a Green Bay Packer fan too, and a Boston Brewer fan.
- 53:21How does that match anyways? Nelson.
- 53:23With a Mets fan mixed in there, it doesn't.
- 53:25Make any sense? It's not a fan.
- 53:26A Knick fan. Anyways, thank you.
- 53:28We'll talk to you next week. Good night, it's the worldwide
- 53:32sports radio network. Radio Network.
