- 0:46Speaker 1: Seems like there's been a whole lot of horror movie
- 0:48Speaker 1: episodes lately, guys. Don't you feel like if you're not
- 0:51Speaker 1: part of the horror club, you're missing out? Yes. Totally.
- 1:02Speaker 2: I'm really bad at improv. This is the only time
- 1:05Speaker 2: we really do it.
- 1:06Speaker 3: But I'm part of the horror club and I am
- 1:09Speaker 3: enjoying myself thoroughly.
- 1:10Speaker 2: Because there's tons of new material.
- 1:13Speaker 4: For $ 2 a month.
- 1:14Speaker 3: $ 2 gets you all this great stuff and more.
- 1:18Speaker 2: Before, you know, we'd bounce back and forth.
- 1:21Speaker 1: But we did some of those promos at the beginning
- 1:23Speaker 1: of the year. And I was like, okay, these are
- 1:25Speaker 1: our freebies. I'm telling you now. We're going to be
- 1:27Speaker 1: doing a lot more horror. So you better join the club.
- 1:30Speaker 1: And some people were probably slackers and didn't do it.
- 1:32Speaker 1: Now we're like three and four movies in a row.
- 1:35Speaker 1: The only thing we're putting out is horror. And I'm like, see,
- 1:37Speaker 1: I told you.
- 1:38Speaker 2: You didn't listen to me. But you could remedy that
- 1:41Speaker 2: real easy.
- 1:42Speaker 1: Just go to MovieMeltdown.com. Click on that link at the
- 1:45Speaker 1: top right-hand side of the page.
- 1:47Speaker 2: And join the club.
- 1:48Speaker 1: And you can get in on all this horrific fun
- 1:51Speaker 1: every episode.
- 1:54Speaker 3: And you can even help decide what movies we talk about.
- 1:56Speaker 2: That is a huge benefit. An extra bonus for everybody.
- 2:01Speaker 3: You can make us watch great movies that we'd never
- 2:04Speaker 3: see otherwise or terrible movies to torture us. It's up
- 2:07Speaker 3: to you.
- 2:09Speaker 1: That's what I'm saying.
- 2:10Speaker 2: Just get on board with it. Join the club. Help
- 2:13Speaker 2: us watch movies.
- 2:15Speaker 1: We don't know what we're going to watch next.
- 2:17Speaker 2: It's all up to you.
- 2:19Speaker 1: So then you join the club and you can hear
- 2:21Speaker 1: us say awesome things like this.
- 2:25Speaker 3: I was talking to somebody about this movie the other
- 2:28Speaker 3: day and I realized the only way that you could
- 2:31Speaker 3: describe it at all is to just tell them the whole,
- 2:35Speaker 3: this happens and this happens. And he's sitting there listening
- 2:38Speaker 3: to me. He's like, yeah, okay, yeah. And then I
- 2:41Speaker 3: get to the key point in the plot where everything
- 2:43Speaker 3: turns and he's just like, Jesus Christ. And I'm like, oh,
- 2:47Speaker 3: we're not even done yet. Well, I'm looking at a
- 2:51Speaker 3: picture here of a dude chopping another guy's hand off
- 2:54Speaker 3: with a butcher knife. And there's an ice pick sticking
- 2:58Speaker 3: through the guy's hand.
- 2:59Speaker 4: Yeah, it's super violent and the effects are good.
- 3:03Speaker 3: So why doesn't the serial killer just kill that guy?
- 3:07Speaker 2: He tries to.
- 3:08Speaker 4: I mean, he tries to find him, but the dude's
- 3:09Speaker 4: just like CIA agent. martial arts skills always gets that
- 3:13Speaker 4: I mean he gets hurt too like a lot of
- 3:16Speaker 4: a lot of beating going on on both sides.
- 3:20Speaker 3: And it says I don't have a lot of friends
- 3:22Speaker 3: which is why I keep them in the basement and
- 3:24Speaker 3: I was like well that makes sense now.
- 3:28Speaker 4: That poor chicken R.I.P.
- 3:34Speaker 1: Now the story I've heard in other movies is as
- 3:37Speaker 1: long as you eat it it's.
- 3:38Speaker 2: Okay Because then you didn't just kill it for a movie.
- 3:42Speaker 2: I guess.
- 3:43Speaker 1: It's just like everybody else eating chicken nuggets out there.
- 3:45Speaker 1: It's served its same purpose. So we just happened to
- 3:49Speaker 1: film it first.
- 3:51Speaker 3: Which also is another point I want to dig into
- 3:53Speaker 3: later in this movie. It is better made than it
- 3:56Speaker 3: needs to be for the sort of movie that it is.
- 3:58Speaker 2: Kind of, yeah.
- 3:59Speaker 1: Especially like there's aspects of it that you don't expect
- 4:03Speaker 1: for this type of movie. And this budget, you know,
- 4:06Speaker 1: it's like they could have really... phoned it in on
- 4:09Speaker 1: a lot of levels, and there's moments when I'm like, well, actually,
- 4:12Speaker 1: this is pretty well done.
- 4:13Speaker 2: Now here, you can see the budget restraints, but.
- 4:15Speaker 3: There was actually what I would call character development in
- 4:19Speaker 3: this movie.
- 4:21Speaker 1: I was like, so wait, Huntress is having a baby
- 4:24Speaker 1: with Obi-Wan Kenobi?
- 4:25Speaker 2: This kid's gonna be a badass!
- 4:28Speaker 3: And ridiculously attractive.
- 4:30Speaker 2: Can't argue with that.
- 4:31Speaker 4: Also, like, how much LSD do we have laying around
- 4:35Speaker 4: where we're just giving everybody... drinks of LSD.
- 4:41Speaker 3: If you had put her in a Batman serial from
- 4:44Speaker 3: the 40s as the main villainous, I would have both
- 4:47Speaker 3: seen this. But why is she traveling around in a
- 4:51Speaker 3: van with these weirdos?
- 4:52Speaker 2: That one's still not as weird to me.
- 4:55Speaker 1: And what kind of a bakery specializes in nothing but
- 4:59Speaker 1: meat pies? If it was like a trendy, like, of
- 5:03Speaker 1: the moment industry, it's the the cronuts, and it was
- 5:06Speaker 1: in a big city or something. But in a normal,
- 5:10Speaker 1: smaller town, I feel like if you're going to be
- 5:12Speaker 1: a bakery, you've got to be able to knock out
- 5:14Speaker 1: breads and cakes and everything because you're the only bakery around.
- 5:18Speaker 2: So, no. Meat pie.
- 5:20Speaker 1: Yes.
- 5:21Speaker 3: Just meat pie.
- 5:22Speaker 2: Just meat pie.
- 5:23Speaker 3: Which even the hippies call them out on that.
- 5:25Speaker 2: They're like, what the hell?
- 5:26Speaker 3: They're like, I'm going to eat a meat pie for breakfast,
- 5:28Speaker 3: which first of all.
- 5:29Speaker 2: You're a bakery. Where are the donuts at, damn it?
- 5:32Speaker 3: There's the.
- 5:34Speaker 3: And I don't think I've ever been in a position
- 5:37Speaker 3: where I've gone two or three days without food, which
- 5:39Speaker 3: is what they implied these guys were going through, and
- 5:43Speaker 3: then argue with somebody about whether or not to eat
- 5:46Speaker 3: non-breakfast food for breakfast. Especially when they're getting such a
- 5:49Speaker 3: good deal on it.
- 5:51Speaker 2: In this, it's.
- 5:52Speaker 1: Just a little turn, and he is so menacing and
- 5:57Speaker 1: so creepy. But he's not really, like, again, you have
- 6:01Speaker 1: to figure out where you think you stand with him
- 6:03Speaker 1: as a character.
- 6:04Speaker 2: Because you come.
- 6:04Speaker 1: Into it in a weird situation, and you think one
- 6:08Speaker 1: thing about him, and then you kind of start to think,
- 6:10Speaker 1: maybe I'm wrong. And, like, so he's a really interesting
- 6:13Speaker 1: character in this. And, again, I think any lesser actor,
- 6:17Speaker 1: it would just not.
- 6:18Speaker 2: Be that good.
- 6:19Speaker 1: Right.
- 6:20Speaker 3: It had minimal dialogue, which I thought, well, this is
- 6:23Speaker 3: keeping with the spirit of it. But when it got
- 6:25Speaker 3: to sentence three, I was like, hey. Dad, I'm out
- 6:28Speaker 3: of here.
- 6:31Speaker 2: Here, we want you to make a horror movie. And
- 6:32Speaker 2: he's like, well, I don't want to do vampires. I
- 6:34Speaker 2: don't want to werewolf.
- 6:35Speaker 1: He's going down the list of all these cliche things
- 6:37Speaker 1: that he didn't want to do. And he's left with
- 6:40Speaker 1: real world stuff, which was... reading about this outbreak of
- 6:44Speaker 1: rabies in iran of all places yeah and then mixing it.
- 6:48Speaker 2: With the manson case that's in the news.
- 6:50Speaker 1: Still and so like he just sort of jams all
- 6:53Speaker 1: this stuff together and this is what we get.
- 6:57Speaker 4: They did include like the hydrophobia kind of stuff But
- 7:02Speaker 4: it was funny because there's a whole chase scene where
- 7:04Speaker 4: they're like running like through a stream.
- 7:06Speaker 3: Through a stream.
- 7:06Speaker 4: Like your feet are in water.
- 7:08Speaker 3: And then they get back to the water.
- 7:09Speaker 4: And then they like splash them and they're like, ah!
- 7:12Speaker 2: They freak out. You're standing in water.
- 7:16Speaker 1: And like you can see so much about society by
- 7:20Speaker 1: just looking at the things that were popular in the,
- 7:23Speaker 1: and you get different versions of it too. You can
- 7:24Speaker 1: look at all the mainstream movies that came out at
- 7:27Speaker 1: this exact same time and you'll get a good feel
- 7:30Speaker 1: for what the Again, the boring normal people in the
- 7:33Speaker 1: world were into the whatever major studio releases came out.
- 7:36Speaker 1: And then go look at your drive in and your
- 7:38Speaker 1: grindhouse movies and you'll see what was kind of, again,
- 7:40Speaker 1: just under the surface going on. But it's tapping into
- 7:44Speaker 1: that same thing that the other people are afraid of.
- 7:48Speaker 1: And I think that's what's so important is like you
- 7:50Speaker 1: can look at these and pinpoint exactly where the country
- 7:53Speaker 1: was at that point.
- 7:55Speaker 4: Also, what do we think was the purpose of the
- 7:57Speaker 4: pregnant lady having a wig that looked the same as
- 8:00Speaker 4: the hair that was under her?
- 8:01Speaker 2: And she didn't even take it off.
- 8:04Speaker 3: I don't know.
- 8:05Speaker 2: Why are you wearing it if you're going to keep
- 8:06Speaker 2: taking it off?
- 8:08Speaker 1: I don't understand.
- 8:10Speaker 2: Doesn't that sell you?
- 8:12Speaker 3: Yeah, quite a bit.
- 8:13Speaker 2: Don't you want to go get your guts ripped out?
- 8:15Speaker 1: Twice.
- 8:17Speaker 3: Shivers.
- 8:18Speaker 2: Shivers, that's the one. Yeah, she's in Shivers for Cronenberg.
- 8:21Speaker 2: Which both are kind of the same type of plot.
- 8:24Speaker 3: Well, I mean, the crazies are clearly influenced by this.
- 8:28Speaker 2: Yeah. I guess.
- 8:31Speaker 3: I love that they kept showing the head. Every other
- 8:35Speaker 3: shot after that was.
- 8:37Speaker 2: Because they obviously spent a lot of time making it.
- 8:39Speaker 3: They spent at least $ 12 on that thing. And that's
- 8:41Speaker 3: $ 12 in 1970 money. Yeah, that's big money.
- 8:47Speaker 2: I don't know.
- 8:47Speaker 1: I was like, that's the only thing before that that
- 8:50Speaker 1: there's even kind of a dog or werewolf related thing.
- 8:56Speaker 1: Not even from this movie. So the title's not the title.
- 9:00Speaker 1: The image on the poster's not the image from the
- 9:02Speaker 1: movie at all. And it has nothing to do with
- 9:05Speaker 1: that other one on the other half of the poster
- 9:07Speaker 1: who also isn't that title and they probably stole that
- 9:09Speaker 1: artwork too. Well, I won't say that's the weird scene.
- 9:14Speaker 2: They're all weird scenes, but.
- 9:17Speaker 2: I mean, it's not really even about the money.
- 9:19Speaker 1: I mean, yes, we do need money coming in to
- 9:21Speaker 1: pay for hosting fees and to keep the site going
- 9:23Speaker 1: and things like that.
- 9:25Speaker 2: But more than anything, we're really just trying to build
- 9:27Speaker 2: a community.
- 9:28Speaker 1: A group of friends that like movies and horror and
- 9:31Speaker 1: want to sit around and talk about them. I mean,
- 9:33Speaker 1: that's what this club, hell, that's what this show is
- 9:35Speaker 1: built on. And it's no fun to go through all
- 9:38Speaker 1: the trouble of putting this together and then nobody's out there.
- 9:42Speaker 1: So if you are out there, if you're listening to
- 9:43Speaker 1: this right now, go to MovieMeltdown.com and join the horror club.
- 9:47Speaker 1: Then you'll not only get to listen to every episode,
- 9:49Speaker 1: but you can help us choose what movies we're going
- 9:51Speaker 1: to watch in the future. So become a Melkiteer and
- 9:54Speaker 1: help keep this Terror Train rolling.
- 9:56Speaker 2: On this Terror Train, this Terror Train.
- 10:00Speaker 3: This Pennsylvania Terror Train.
