- 0:38Speaker 1: I'm calling this series Put Yourself First.
- 0:41Speaker 1: In that first show, I shared my own perspective as an empty nest or parent and how, after we dropped off our daughter to college, I made a decision that it was okay for me to do something greater in life.
- 0:56Speaker 1: I decided for me.
- 0:57Speaker 1: Then, in yesterday's show, we talked about celebrating everything that you accomplished in whatever season of life.
- 1:06Speaker 1: You're just completing Today for this third part of the series, I want to talk about giving yourself permission to shine.
- 1:16Speaker 1: If you've been in a support role for a long time, you're probably used to being the one who makes others look good.
- 1:24Speaker 1: That's what we do as parents.
- 1:26Speaker 1: We support them.
- 1:27Speaker 1: Well, now it's your turn, but you have to start by giving yourself permission that it's okay for you to shine.
- 1:37Speaker 1: If you haven't done this in a while, that might not be so easy.
- 1:42Speaker 1: Because here's the thing whatever you do next, you want to be great at it.
- 1:47Speaker 1: Let me ask you a question Is it okay for you to be even greater at this new thing than you were as a parent.
- 1:56Speaker 1: Do you give yourself permission for that to be the case?
- 2:00Speaker 1: You need to.
- 2:02Speaker 1: I talk about this idea of giving yourself permission more in the video training series I created called Put Yourself First.
- 2:09Speaker 1: It's free.
- 2:09Speaker 1: It's four videos, one every day followed by a short exercise.
- 2:13Speaker 1: I think it's a great way to pause, reflect and then be able to move forward with confidence in the next chapter in your life.
- 2:21Speaker 1: In one of those videos, I talk a lot more about this idea of permission and why it's so vital that we address it head-on, because if you don't, you may have this subconscious belief that you don't address and it may sabotage you from having success moving forward.
- 2:40Speaker 1: Go check out the series.
- 2:42Speaker 1: Like I said, it's free.
- 2:43Speaker 1: It's in the show notes below and you can also find it on my website at thorchallgrencom.
- 2:51Speaker 1: I'll close today with this one idea about giving yourself permission.
- 2:55Speaker 1: If I asked you, would it be okay if the next thing you do in life is greater than anything you've done before?
- 3:04Speaker 1: And yes, I mean something doing something greater than being a parent?
- 3:11Speaker 1: Can you truly say that?
- 3:12Speaker 1: If it feels uncomfortable, definitely check out my video series.
- 3:17Speaker 1: I'll say that for me.
- 3:20Speaker 1: I'm in a place now where I can truly say, yes, I'm okay if I do something greater than being what I think was a pretty good dad.
- 3:30Speaker 1: I give myself permission to be great.
