- 1:00Y'all, welcome to today's show. Today we're gonna well, we're gonna get
- 1:03into a very interesting question. It's a question that well, I guess man
- 1:11has asked for a very long time, and it's why did God make man
- 1:18of? What use to an omnipotent God? Is man? Mankind? Humanity
- 1:27that has free will and is capable of evil and going against God's will?
- 1:34Why did God even bother to make us? And what is sort of our
- 1:42duty and response? How do we understand ourselves in our place in creation?
- 1:53It's not obviously you're not gonna take my word for it. I don't have
- 1:56any great theological insights. I actually gonna look at Saint Ironaus. Sat Irons
- 2:05wrote extensively. He wrote quite I think five books against heresies in the early
- 2:10Church. Particularly, he was condemning the Gnostic heresies that began with Simon the
- 2:16Magician. A lot of these same heresies you still see popping up today,
- 2:23the once saved, always saved heresy of many Protestant denominations. Sat Ironaus dealt
- 2:30with and what two hundred three hundred eighty I mean, he was already an
- 2:35issue and the early Church dealt with it. Condemned it said, it's absolutely
- 2:38false, unbiblical. Jesus didn't teach that. Well, you know, someone
- 2:44got mad at me just the other day for just simply saying, this is
- 2:47actually what Jesus said. You know, if you love me, you will
- 2:51keep my commandments. This is what Saint Paul said about how he was still
- 2:53working out a salvation in fear and trembling, and he wanted to finish the
- 2:58race and all that Jesus said. Many will say, Lord Lord, do
- 3:02we not prophesy in your name? Do we not cast out demons? And
- 3:06he will say, truly, I do not know you. But many Protestants
- 3:10still maintain that simple belief in God and that you know ultra call or Billy
- 3:17Graham prayer, Well, you're forgiven of all your sins and you're saved for
- 3:24all eternity, no matter what you do, even if you became a serial
- 3:27killer or robbed a bank the next day or totally apostasized, totally said you
- 3:32rejected your Christian faith that you had claimed or you know, believed the day
- 3:38before. If you went from being a Christian to a Satan worship for the
- 3:40very next day, many Protestant churches say you're still saved. The Bible doesn't
- 3:46say that. The Catholic Church has never taught that. The Catechism certainly doesn't
- 3:51say that. The early Church, those who actually learned from Jesus and the
- 3:54Apostles, said very differently. But that's one, you know that iron Ass
- 3:59dealt with was part of the Nasti heresy. Another one was about Sunday worship.
- 4:03You know, we got Torah observant Christians and Seven day Advenis and others
- 4:10that say anybody who goes to church on Sunday is a Satan worshiper and going
- 4:14to Hell. True Christians follow the Jewish tradition of the Jewish Sabbath on Saturday.
- 4:18Well, the early Church specifically said, no, we're a new church
- 4:23and new religion. We will celebrate the Sabbath on the day that Jesus rose
- 4:28from the dead. And that was actually written in the d Dok before the
- 4:31Bible was even completed. I mean, that has been the wall of the
- 4:38norm of Christianity since before there was even a Bible. I've done a whole
- 4:44show on that. I've got a couple of shows on that. Saint Ironis
- 4:47had to address that heresy as well. There's a lot. There's a lot,
- 4:54but this is a really interesting passage and it's only a page or two,
- 4:58so we'll get into that, and I think you'll find it very interesting.
- 5:01The early Church fathers. So much of just what we consider to be
- 5:08Christianity, not Catholic or Protestant or anything, is not found in the Bible.
- 5:14You know, there's very scant mentioned. For instance, of the Trinity
- 5:15in the Bible. Jesus said baptized people in the name of the Father and
- 5:18Son of the Holy Spirit. The nature of the Trinity is implied in various
- 5:24places. But the early Church are is who wrote and explained and taught that
- 5:31truth of Christianity that you know, all as far as I know, all
- 5:36Protestants believe as well, even though it's not really detailed in the Bible.
- 5:45They say the Bible learns early authority, but they have a very Catholic understanding
- 5:48of the Trinity. They don't know that, they just they inherited it.
- 5:56I mean, their grandparents and their grandparents, grandparents and their grandparents grandparents believe
- 6:00even the Trinity going back to when their family was Catholic, because there was
- 6:02no Protestant Church, which before you know, mid fourteen hundreds, and most
- 6:06of the world was Catholic well into the fifteen sixteen hundreds, and I mean
- 6:14most of the world's still Catholic today. I mean it is compared to Protestantism.
- 6:17We think Protestantism is dominant because it isn't America if not. Actually,
- 6:23there are more Catholics than there are Baptists or Methodists or whatever. As Jesus
- 6:29said, his church would stand till the end of time, the gates of
- 6:31Hell would not prevail against it. And actually those Protestant denominations are getting smaller
- 6:38and smaller every year. In the past twenty years, mainline Protestantism has shrunk
- 6:43by almost half. I mean, let that sink in. I mean,
- 6:47we think of America as this Protestant nation. Right on Sundays, we expect
- 6:54the Baptists and the Methodists and the Presbyterian and the Lutheran and etc. Et
- 6:57cetera. Churches to be full. Church attendance is actually down by over half.
- 7:03And in the next couple of decades a lot of those churches are being
- 7:06closing. Now. Granted, some of the members, many of the members
- 7:10have gone to what you would call evangelical Protestanism to shoot with the super churches,
- 7:15the Charismatic movement. But a lot of them have just left, and
- 7:20we got a major duty following in the stead of men like Saint iron Aus
- 7:28to explain to people exactly what the Catholic Church teaches and why, and then
- 7:35we can begin bringing these people back into the Catholic Church. We can begin
- 7:40reunifying the body of Christ. That is actually our Christian duty. You know
- 7:47Chantal the Fortune who writes from miss O day, wonderful name, by the
- 7:51ways, a beautiful name, being part French. I just love that name.
- 7:57But Chantal did a great article on the works of mercy and their corporal,
- 8:03corporeal whatever works of mercy physical and other words, and there's spiritual works
- 8:09of mercy, and all Christians are called to do them. And those the
- 8:15physical or the corporeal or whatever corporal I can't remember how I pronounced it,
- 8:20meaning of the body essentially physical? Are you know, feeding the hungry,
- 8:26clothing the naked, visiting the sick, and the those in prison. You
- 8:33know, physical acts of charity which were all called to the There are also
- 8:39seven spiritual acts of charity and among those and are correcting the center and very
- 8:48prominently instructing the ignorant or those with the flawed instruction, correcting and instructing and
- 8:58you we're all called to do that. And in order to do that,
- 9:03we each need to learn what does the Catholic Church actually teach and why.
- 9:11I mean, it's really important to have a working knowledge of the Catechism,
- 9:16a working knowledge of the Bible. You know, if you're talking to the
- 9:20Protestant you need to be able to say, they'll say, where is that
- 9:22in the Bible. You need to be able to open your Bible and find
- 9:24it. It's not that hard. Like I said, you can read the
- 9:26entire Bible, page one to the end of the Book of Revelations every year.
- 9:31If you read five pages a day, five days a week. Obviously
- 9:35you could just follow along with them the daily master readings of the Catholic Church,
- 9:39and you get the same thing ignorant. As as one of the popes
- 9:43said, I forget which one ignorance of the Bible is ignorance of God.
- 9:48And it's not hard. We should not seed the Bible to Protestantism. The
- 9:54Bible is a Catholic book. The New Testament was written by Catholics. The
- 9:58entire Bible was piled by Catholics. The early Church decided what books would be
- 10:03in it and not published by the Catholic Church. Preserved for over two thousand
- 10:07years by the Catholic Church. The Bible is a Catholic book, the Catholic
- 10:13book. Essentially, you take the Bible and the DAK and you have all
- 10:18the instruction that was given to early Christians. The d d K, as
- 10:22I said, is the teachings of the Twelve written before the Bible was even
- 10:26finished. It says, this is what we believe as Catholics, and this
- 10:28is what we do when we go to Mass, and we go to Mass
- 10:31on Sundays by the way, you know, well anyway, it's a duty.
- 10:37These these spiritual acts of mercy are the works as well as receiving the
- 10:43sacraments you know, that are going on which our salvation will hinge. Jesus
- 10:50said, those who love Me and keep my commandments will be saved. We
- 10:54actually have to believe in him, love him and do what he said.
- 11:00Just you know, say, oh yeah, yeah, I'm a Christian,
- 11:01I'm a Catholic, but I don't follow any of the teachings of the Church.
- 11:05And you know, whatever, I'm a good person. Well, there
- 11:09are a lot of good people that are good in their own eyes and the
- 11:13eyes of their peers, that would not be good in the eyes of our
- 11:18Lord. I hope not to be among them. Let's just try our best
- 11:22not to be numbered among those, right, So let's start today with a
- 11:26couple of questions and answers from radio. Replies the person who has been justifying
- 11:35his goodness. He says he's he's not a Christian, he has no religion,
- 11:41but he's a good person, right, and that's all that matters.
- 11:43He should be saved just like everyone else, if he even believed in heaven,
- 11:46which he probably doesn't. He says, I not only believe in God,
- 11:54I lead a clean life. Is that not enough? So I think
- 11:58it's the same person. Maybe they did have a vague belief in God,
- 12:03but they didn't They were not a member of any church, they were not
- 12:07Catholic, And I don't believe they would say I don't follow organized religion,
- 12:13as if there's something some kind of religion that isn't organized, as if Jesus
- 12:16didn't actually found a church and a point, you know, twelve apostles and
- 12:20so many disciples and say, you know, he who hears you, hears
- 12:24me, and he rejects you, rejects him. They've sent me many people,
- 12:28especially in our time, will say I reject organized religion. Show me
- 12:31your foundation, your basis for disorganized religion. Open up your Bible and tell
- 12:35me once, show me one place in the Bible where God didn't give ten
- 12:41commandments that people had to follow. There wasn't a ritual, a temple,
- 12:46a sacrifice, a priesthood, the establishment of the church, the authority of
- 12:52the apostles. Yes, the Kingdom of God is incredibly organized. In fact,
- 13:01organization follows harmony. You have to remember when sin and death entered the
- 13:07world, it caused disharmony, disunity, disorganization, which leads to decomposition,
- 13:16death and decomposition organization. Harmony, unity is the very nature of God.
- 13:30That's actually Dad was hard for me to come to. You know. I
- 13:31am I'm Irish obviously by part French and part Irish, you know, and
- 13:37part English too, and a few other things you can just you know,
- 13:39throw in the mix, right, but predominantly I mean, my last name
- 13:43is Carol. You know, we are very rebellious. Obviously, the English
- 13:48spent a few hundred years trying to destroy Ireland, enslaving over half the population
- 13:54genocides. We don't like authority a whole lot my nature. And also I
- 14:01have a lot of royalty in my family line, quite a bit of it
- 14:05British. Actually, I'm related to the royal families of England, well House
- 14:09of Wessex. I don't claim the House of Windsor England, Ireland, Scotland,
- 14:16Spain. Yeah, I related to the Spanish royal family at a lot
- 14:20of royal blood in France, Yeah, I got some French too, a
- 14:24house suburban, the whole bit. I don't easily submit to authority. Boy,
- 14:33I was a rebellious kid. I mean I was like, I was
- 14:37never like hyperactive or anything. I was never like acting out. But never
- 14:43once in my life have I willingly submitted to authority before I became Catholic.
- 14:50Even like if a cops stopped me for doing something, I would say,
- 14:54wait a minute, you're gonna give me a ticket. You show me in
- 14:56the law where I did what was wrong, and I'd start arguing with him
- 14:58like like a an attorney. Yeah, they didn't like that very much,
- 15:01but oftentimes I got out of it because I was really smart and logical and
- 15:07could see the falls in their argument, or they didn't have the documentation to
- 15:11back up what they were trying to stop me for andw maanytimes I was actually
- 15:16in the wrong, but I talked my way out of it. That's my
- 15:20nature. So being somewhat of an independent, pioneer minded, even an anarchist
- 15:28at some points. Submitting to the authority of the Catholic Church was probably my
- 15:33biggest barrier. I had to fully understand papal authority before I could become Catholic.
- 15:43I didn't have a problem with you Christ. I said, if Jesus
- 15:46said it's his body and blood, fine it is. I didn't have a
- 15:48problem with many many of the doctors of the Catholic Church. But actually submitting
- 15:54to the authority of the church was like, you know, trying to mix
- 15:58water and oil. For me, that was my big barrier. So I
- 16:03understand people to say I don't believe in an organized religion, But the thing
- 16:07is, Satan was the first rebel. You know, you don't believe me.
- 16:12Assa Lensky could pull up his book that was, you know, the
- 16:15big influence on Hillary Clinton and such. He was an anarchist, I mean
- 16:19a communist. He wasn't an anarchist. He was a communist, and he
- 16:23dedicated his book to Satan, the first rebel. You know that. I
- 16:32think it is a natural instinct, given the dignity of the human being,
- 16:37to bristle as someone else telling them what to do, right, I mean,
- 16:41it says in the Bible we were made the crown of creation. Jesus
- 16:45even said, you'll like God's right. We have an innate sense of dignity,
- 16:52an innate sense of personal integrity that I think rightly bristles at being forced
- 17:02to do something against our will. But when it comes to God and things
- 17:07beyond man, we have a duty to submit to God, because God is
- 17:11our creator, and everything upon everything there is hinges upon his will. We
- 17:18actually gravely sin if we rebel against God. That is in fact the original
- 17:25sin, both of the Devil and of our first parents, Adam and Eve.
- 17:30So once you realize if I mean, if you actually read the Bible
- 17:33and understand it and remember the unuch and the Bible says, I mean he's
- 17:38reading the scriptures, he says, how can I understand it if I have
- 17:41no one to instruct me well, right there, the Bible itself tells you
- 17:45you need someone to instruct you on what the words of the Bible mean.
- 17:51And the only authority on earth that has the authority I guess to be redundant
- 17:56given to it by God to serve that role is to Catholic Church. But
- 18:02this person once again says, I not only believe in God, but I
- 18:07lead a clean life. Is that not enough? Is it not enough just
- 18:11to be good? Well, they answer on one condition that you honestly believe
- 18:17no more to be necessary and have never had an opportunity of discovering the real
- 18:22truth. But if, for example, you have heard the claims of the
- 18:26Catholic Church and have refused to inquire into them, I could not answer for
- 18:30you. If you did inquire, realize that you should become Catholic, and
- 18:34refused, you would have less chance still, for you would be obviously insincere.
- 18:41That's the danger. That's why most Protestants will not open a Catholic book.
- 18:47That's why most Protestants and seculously this man. If you get into a
- 18:53debate with them and you say, well, look, this is what the
- 18:56Catechism says, and this is what satz Olan, so said it in three
- 18:59D and this is what the this is, you know, and you try
- 19:02to explain to them. They won't read it because if they read it,
- 19:07it actually puts them in more danger. And in a way they realize that
- 19:12they're afraid to read Catholic books because it puts him in the uncomfortable position of
- 19:18either having to reject what they believe now and believe what the Catholic Church says,
- 19:25or reject what the Catholic Church says, no longer being able to claim
- 19:29to be ignorant, and in danger of health. It's an untenable position.
- 19:38The person goes on, what is your idea of a good man? They
- 19:42say, one who is firstly just to all others, including God. His
- 19:48first duty is to render to God what is due to him. Secondly,
- 19:52and for the love of God, he renders all that is due to his
- 19:56fellow men. In addition, he must manage him self in his own personal
- 20:00life, overcoming with fortitude the difficulties in the way of right conduct and practicing
- 20:07temperance by restraining sensuality and other lower appetites. And that kind of gets us
- 20:15to the thrust of the show. Why did God create man? And what
- 20:21is man's duty to God. So let's look at Saint iron Aus. Like
- 20:27I said, this is like mid two hundreds, maybe late two hundreds,
- 20:32And I believe this is from book four against Terresey. He says in the
- 20:37beginning, therefore did God create Adam not as if he stood in need of
- 20:41man, but that he might have someone upon whom to confer his benefits.
- 20:48For not alone and accedently to Adam. But also before all creation, the
- 20:52word, that is, Jesus glorified his Father, remaining in him, and
- 21:00himself glorified by the Father, as he did himself declare, Father, glorify
- 21:04thou me with the glory which I had with thee before the world was.
- 21:08Nor did he stand in need of our service when he ordered us to follow
- 21:14him, But he thus bestowed salvation upon ourselves. For to follow the saviors
- 21:18to be a partaker in salvation, and to follow light is to receive light.
- 21:23But those who are in light do not themselves illuminate the light, but
- 21:27are illuminated and revealed by it. They do certainly contribute nothing to it,
- 21:33but receiving the benefit they are illuminated by the light. Thus, also service
- 21:38rendered to God does indeed profit God nothing. Nor has God need of human
- 21:45obedience. But he grants to those who follow and serve him life and incorruption
- 21:51and eternal glory, bestowing benefit upon those who serve him because they do serve
- 21:56him, and on his followers because they do follow him, but does not
- 22:02receive any benefit from them, for He is rich, perfect and in need
- 22:06of nothing. But for this reason does God Demand's service from men, in
- 22:11order that sense he is good and merciful, he may benefit those who continue
- 22:17in his service. Forasmuch as God is in want of nothing, so much
- 22:22does man stand in need of fellowship of God. For this is the glory
- 22:26of man, to continue and remain permanently in God's service. Wherefore, also
- 22:32did the Lord say to his disciples, ye have not chosen me, but
- 22:34I have chosen you, indicating that they did not glorify him when they followed
- 22:40him, but that in following the Son of God they were glorified by him.
- 22:45And again he said, I will that where I am they also may
- 22:48be, that they may behold my glory, not vainly boasting because of this,
- 22:52but desiring that his disciples should share in his glory of whom Isaiah said,
- 22:59I will bring i seed from the east, and will gather thee from
- 23:02the west. And I will say to the north give up, and to
- 23:04the south keep not back. Bring my sons from far, and my daughters
- 23:08from the ends of the earth, as all as many as have been called
- 23:14in my name were in glory. I have prepared and formed and made him.
- 23:18Inasmuch then wheresoever the carcass is, there also shall the eagles be gathered
- 23:22together. We do participate in the glory of the Lord, who has formed
- 23:26us and prepared us for this, that when we are with him, we
- 23:29may partake in his glory. Thus it was too that God formed the first
- 23:37because of his munificence. But he chose the patriarchs for the sake of their
- 23:44salvation, and prepared to people beforehand, teaching the headstrong to follow God,
- 23:49and raised up prophets on the earth, accustoming man to bear his spirit within
- 23:53him, and whole communion with God he himself, and indeed, having need
- 23:59of nothing, but granting communion with himself to those who stood in need of
- 24:03it, and sketching out like an architect the plan of salvation to those who
- 24:07pleased him. And he did himself furnished guidance to those who beheld him not
- 24:12in Egypt, while those who became unruly in the desert, he promulgated a
- 24:17law very suitable to their condition. This is really important, and sant Aaronnas
- 24:23goes He'll spend a couple more pages on this. I'm going to try to
- 24:27sum it up him one. As he said, God did not make man
- 24:33because he was in need of anything. He made man, and indeed all
- 24:37of creation, because he desires to love. He desires to give his benevolence
- 24:42to his creation. Our duty, then is to love and obey God.
- 24:48In return, everything we have is contingent upon Him, from our lives,
- 24:53to our food, to the span of our lives, to our eternal destiny,
- 24:57et c. It interesting what he's saying here. Let me explain that
- 25:07he kind of caught up a few million years right, and now he's to
- 25:11the Jews in Egypt. The Hedrew people in Egypt. Apparently they had wandered
- 25:18very far from the law of God had given to Abraham the true faith,
- 25:22the faith I should say that God gave to Abraham. They had come to
- 25:27worship idols and to follow other God's false gods, so he says, Thus
- 25:33it was that God formed the first man. Okay, God formed the first
- 25:38man to live in communion with him. He fell away, God redeems him
- 25:44through Abraham. They've fallen away again, he says. But He chose the
- 25:48patriarchs for the sake of their salvation, and prepared to people beforehand, teaching
- 25:53the heads strong to follow God, and raised up prophets on earth upon earth,
- 26:00accustoming man to bear his spirit within him and to hold communion with God.
- 26:07This is beginning to explain that essentially the laws of Moses, the toral
- 26:12law, were laws to chastise, let's say, beyond several of the ten
- 26:22commands, which you'll actually get to this in a minute. You know,
- 26:25when Jesus was asked, what are the what are the essential commands? Love
- 26:29God with all your heart, love your neighbor yourself, do not commit adultery,
- 26:32do not steal, do not commit murder. Right, But the toral
- 26:37law goes far beyond that. I mean, first of all, the circumcision,
- 26:41which isn't in the ten commands. There's observed the Sabbath, which he
- 26:44is and he's going to explain in a minute here why that Sabbath was important
- 26:48and why it changed with the beginning of Christianity. There are also all the
- 26:52dietary laws and the cleanliness laws and etcetera, etcetera, etcetera. That was
- 26:57teaching the headstrong to follow God. Then he raised at prophets who were told
- 27:03of the Christ go back to irons. Here he himself, indeed, having
- 27:12need of nothing, but granting communion with himself to those who stood in need
- 27:18of it, and sketching out like an architect, the plan of salvation to
- 27:22those that pleased him. You know, we say the Church teaches that the
- 27:30Old Testament foreshadows the New Testament, and the New Testament explains and completes the
- 27:36prophecies of the Old Testament. This is the plan of salvation that began literally
- 27:41after the fall of Adam and has continued from millions of years since. And
- 27:45who knows how long it's going to go. I mean, people like to
- 27:48say we're in the end times. A lot of what's said is going to
- 27:52happen, especially in messages from the Blessed Mother, tell us that we're not
- 27:59there yet. It's going to get a whole lot worse before it gets better.
- 28:03Actually, but by the end of the world. By the end time,
- 28:10there will be no excuse. Someone will not be able to say I
- 28:12was confused, I didn't understand. That's a big thing. God gave us
- 28:17free will. And before the end of the world, you know, I
- 28:21mean, they say the Gospel has to be preached all corners of the earth.
- 28:25People will have to actually understand right from wrong and make a choice between
- 28:30following God and following say and right now, there's a heck of a lot
- 28:36of confusion in this world. There are a heck of a lot of people
- 28:40that call themselves Christians that are not following anything having to do with Jesus at
- 28:45all. And they're in our own church as well as within Protestantism, I
- 28:49mean very much. So all this you know, trans stuff, rainbow crap,
- 28:56you know, gay marriage. Marriage is a sacrament between a man and
- 29:00a woman, instituted by the Church. It should neither be a civil matter.
- 29:07A man and a woman should not be able to be married by a
- 29:10judge or divorced by a judge or a ship captain or anything like that.
- 29:15No, it's a sacrament of God. But by no means should a man
- 29:19and a man, or a woman and a woman be married, or a
- 29:22man and a dog, or a woman and a horse. I mean,
- 29:25you know, this is the craziness we're dealing with right now, because there's
- 29:30so much confusion. Remember all confused times from the devil. But by the
- 29:34end of the time, people have to willingly choose one from the other.
- 29:38And that means they have to be clear in their knowledge. If they're confused
- 29:44and they don't understand, they're not culpable. Remember, to actually commit a
- 29:48sin, you have to be culpable of the wrongness of the sin. People
- 29:53growing up in America in the year twenty twenty three, in our public education
- 29:57system and with our media and our politics, are so confused. They many
- 30:03of them do not know right from wrong. They have had no Christian instruction.
- 30:07That's my TAKEHOI In anyway, it's been the takecoent of many Catholic writers
- 30:14and well some Protestant writers. Actually, I think it to be valid,
- 30:18and if I'm wrong, God forgive me. But I don't think the end
- 30:22of the world's coming anytime soon. I think we're going to have to suffer
- 30:26quite a bit more before that time. And he did himself furnish guidance to
- 30:32those who beheld him not in Egypt, While to those who became unruly in
- 30:37the desert, he promulgated a law very suitable to their condition. I'll think
- 30:42about this. Our Torah observant Christians, and our seven day adminis the law
- 30:48that God gave to the Jews. He promulgated to a law very suitable to
- 30:53their condition. Specifically to them, Then, all the people who entered into
- 31:00the good Land, he bestowed a noble inheritance. He killed the fatted calf
- 31:06for those who converted, the converted to the Father, and presented them with
- 31:11the finest robe. Thus, in a variety of ways, he adjusted the
- 31:15human race to an agreementless salvation. On this account does John clearly declaring the
- 31:21apocalypse and his voice as the sound of many waters. For the spirit of
- 31:26God is truly like many waters, since the Father is both rich and great,
- 31:30and the Word passing through all those men did liberally confer benefits upon his
- 31:34subjects by drawing up and writing a law adapted an applical to every class among
- 31:41them. Thus, too he imposed upon the Jewish people the construction of the
- 31:47tabernacle, the building of the temple, the election of the Levites, sacrifices
- 31:52also an obligations, legal monitions, money. How do you prop m in
- 31:59I t I O ns I'm going to go with monitions. I think I'm
- 32:05a little off on that. But I'm getting tongue tied. Who's looking at
- 32:07the word and all the other service of the law. He does himself truly
- 32:13want none of these things, for he is always full of all good,
- 32:20and had in himself all the odor of kindness and every perfume of sweet smelling
- 32:23savors even before Moses existed. Moreover, he instructed the people who were prone
- 32:30to turn to idols, instructing them by repeated appeals to persevere and to serve
- 32:36God, calling them to the things of primary importance, by means of those
- 32:40things that were secondary, that is, to the things that are real,
- 32:44by the things that are typical, and by things temporal to the eternal,
- 32:50temporal to the eternal, and by the carnal to the spiritual, and by
- 32:53the earthly to the heavenly. As was also said to Moses, thou shalt
- 32:59make all things after the pattern of those things which thou sawest on the mount.
- 33:02For during forty days he was learning to keep in his memory the words
- 33:06of God, and the celestial patterns, and the spiritual images, and the
- 33:09types of things to come. And also Paul says, for they drank of
- 33:14the rock which followed them, and this rock was Christ. And again,
- 33:17having first mentioned what are contained in the Law, he goes on to say,
- 33:22now all these things happened to them in a figure, because they were
- 33:25written for our admonition, upon whom the end of the ages is come.
- 33:31For by means of types, they learned to feel fear God and to continue
- 33:37to be devoted to his service. Lot to unpack. There, lot to
- 33:44unpack, And I'm just gonna try to sum it up. God did not
- 33:46need man. God created man of benevolence. Man turned away from God.
- 33:51God gave the law to turn man back to God. God gave the profits
- 33:58to for sell the foretell the coming of the Messiah. And then Forsah.
- 34:01Messiah came and put a new law upon their hearts, which is to love
- 34:07God with all thy heart, and love thy neighbors as thyself, which they
- 34:12would have had, which presumably Abraham had the truth of Christianity, the truth
- 34:20of Judaism before the people became turned to idols. In Egypt. We'll get
- 34:27into the Sabbath, specifically probably tomorrow. But it's very important to realize that
- 34:37here Irenaeus, great early church father, in the earliest days of the Church,
- 34:45was saying that the laws of Moses and the Torah were only there to
- 34:52chastise the people, the Jews the Hebrews in a certain time following the Egyptian
- 35:00captivity, and very other than the basics which Jesus actually spells out. You
- 35:08know, love God with all your heart, love your neighborsself, don't kill,
- 35:12don't steal, don't commit adultery. Not applicable to Christians in modern times.
- 35:21So when someone says to you to be a Christian you have to follow
- 35:25you shouldn't need pork. A lot of people say that. You see it
- 35:28online all the time, and they'll pull up, you know, Leviticus and
- 35:31such, and they'll say, no if you if you believe in God,
- 35:35and they usually say Yeshua or whatever, which isn't I have a whole show
- 35:42on that Jesus's name is Jesus to a Christian, Yeshua is actually the Hebrew
- 35:49for Joshua, And they make some really grave errors there. Yes, Jesus's
- 35:54name was probably Joshua it could have even been Elijah, but he spoke Aramaic.
- 36:02His disciples and followers spoke Aramaic and Greek, and in Greek it was
- 36:07translated into something that sounds very much like Jesus, and in Latin it became
- 36:13useless, and in English it became Yezo and eventually became Jesus. There's absolutely
- 36:17no reason to call Jesus Joshua, and they would say that's the only name
- 36:22by which Jesus can be called, and only Jesus will be Well, what
- 36:24about the Joshua and the Bible? The Fifth Battle of Jericho. I mean,
- 36:28if you actually have some knowledge, you realize the whole tour observant thing
- 36:32is a ridiculous house of cards. But they do have strong faith and real
- 36:37belief. I mean, it's a very They tend to have a lot more
- 36:43integrity in their personal belief than most mainline Christians. I don't mean to disparage
- 36:50them in any way, shape or form. But the Catholic Church, I
- 36:53should say, the early Church, I guess to them, But the one
- 36:57church founded by Jesus Christ, which is the whole holy Catholic and Apostolic Church,
- 37:00has taught from the very beginning, and it says in the Bible.
- 37:05You know, Saint Paul and Saint Peter make very clear that Christians were no
- 37:08longer under Jewish law. But more importantly to this conversation is that, you
- 37:17know it said so easily in the Boston Catechism about you know, God created
- 37:22man and the purpose of life. Man's duty is to love God and serve
- 37:28God. You know, I think Saint has said it very well. God
- 37:32had no need of anything. He only wished to show his benevolence to creation,
- 37:40and man turned away. And throughout all these different error eras of humanity,
- 37:46the entire multi million year history of mankind, God had this narrative that
- 37:53would bring man back to the truth, culminating in Jesus Christ and through his
- 38:00Church. It's it's, it's it's beautifully said. And I think there's so
- 38:07much to be learned by reading the Early Church Fathers. Every Christian of every
- 38:12denomination should read the writings of the first few generations of the Church. And
- 38:20if they did, they'd all be Catholic, because the early Church was decidedly
- 38:27Catholic. They believed in the real presence the body and blood of Jesus and
- 38:30the Eucharist, priestly orders the sacrament of marriage, everything Protestantism denies. Yeah,
- 38:40no divorce allowed you know in the early Church, etc. So anyway,
- 38:49have a great evening and I will talk to you next time. I
- 38:52think we'll probably spend another day with iron Ais and we're can inst some more
- 38:57topics. Have a going
