- 0:00Successful people in whatever field, tend to highlight their
- 0:04ability to keep going. They indicate that no matter how
- 0:08many times one falls, one must get up or in the local
- 0:12vernacular, keep on keeping on. Reactiveness and inability to
- 0:19hold one's peace under provocation is considered to be
- 0:23a sign of vital weakness. People who have cultivated vital
- 0:27strength tend to be able to bear much without expressions of
- 0:31anger, without lashing out, without crying or otherwise
- 0:36evidencing signs of distress. Many people have a habit of
- 0:41complaining, of whining, of expressing how much they have to
- 0:45put up with or how much suffering they are asked to
- 0:48bear. Some people make it a habit to
- 0:52flaunt their weakness with their constant bouts of anger and
- 0:56complaints about how how they are a victim.
- 1:00Much energy is spilled and wasted.
- 1:03These individuals tend to break down easily under pressure.
- 1:07Spiritual seekers who are confronted with challenges both
- 1:12external and internal, on a constant basis are asked to
- 1:16cultivate not just a stoic ability to bear suffering, but
- 1:21to actually maintain a cheerful attitude of endurance come what
- 1:26may. They are preparing the being to
- 1:29receive, bear and hold more energy, and thereby to increase
- 1:34their capacity for the yogic force to enter and transform
- 1:38them. Yoga tends to increase the flow
- 1:41of energy, and it is part of the seeker's role to widen
- 1:45themselves and increase their ability to hold and use this
- 1:49energy without wasting it or spilling it, The mother
- 1:54observes. Quote.
- 1:57Let endurance be your watchword. Teach the life force in you,
- 2:02your vital being, not to complain, but to put up with all
- 2:07the conditions necessary for great achievement.
- 2:10The body is a very enduring servant.
- 2:13It bears the stress of circumstance tamely, like a
- 2:16beast of burden. It is the vital being that is
- 2:20always grumbling and uneasy. The slavery and torture to which
- 2:25it subjects the physical is almost incalculable.
- 2:28How it twists and deforms the poor body to its own fads and
- 2:33fancies, irrationally demanding that everything should be shaped
- 2:37according to its whimsicality. But the very essence of
- 2:42endurance is that the vital should learn to give up its
- 2:45capricious likes and dislikes and preserve an equanimity in
- 2:50the midst of the most trying conditions.
- 2:53When you are treated roughly by somebody, or you lack something
- 2:57which would relieve your discomfort, you must keep up
- 3:01cheerfully. Instead of letting yourself be
- 3:03disturbed. Let nothing ruffle you the least
- 3:06bit. And whenever the vital tends to
- 3:09air its petty grievances with pompous exaggeration, just stop
- 3:14to consider how very happy you are compared to so many in the
- 3:20world. End Quote reference.
