- 0:00Speaker 1: Hey, what's up, guys. My name is Andrea and I'm Haley,
- 0:03Speaker 1: and you're listening to Inhuman, a true crime podcast. Okay,
- 0:08Speaker 1: is there any business?
- 0:09Speaker 2: Okay. So there's a couple of things happening in the
- 0:13Speaker 2: true crime world sort of that we just wanted to
- 0:17Speaker 2: share about before we dive into today's case. First of all,
- 0:21Speaker 2: if you are still following the Gabby Petito case slash
- 0:24Speaker 2: the search for Brian Laundry, there is no update. That
- 0:28Speaker 2: is the update. They're still searching for Brian, So just
- 0:32Speaker 2: keep your eyes out. He does have tattoos, specifically one
- 0:36Speaker 2: on his hand, so it's like a leaf on one
- 0:40Speaker 2: of his fingers or like a vine. So just you know,
- 0:43Speaker 2: if you're especially on any like trails or campsites or anything,
- 0:48Speaker 2: just keep your eyes out.
- 0:49Speaker 1: And then Matt was like, he showed me this thing
- 0:52Speaker 1: on Facebook. He's like, look and I read it and
- 0:54Speaker 1: it was like Dog the bounty Hunter caught Brian Laundry.
- 0:57Speaker 1: I was like, that is not real. I was like,
- 1:00Speaker 1: get out of here with that crowd. That is not real.
- 1:02Speaker 2: But I know, yeah, so don't believe what you read
- 1:04Speaker 2: on Facebook. No, don't believe what you read on Facebook.
- 1:08Speaker 2: And just keep your eyes open. You just never know
- 1:10Speaker 2: what you might see. But I just wanted to share
- 1:13Speaker 2: that the fact mostly that there are no updates because
- 1:15Speaker 2: I know a lot of people have been following that case.
- 1:17Speaker 2: And then, even more exciting, there is a pretty big
- 1:22Speaker 2: update in the Madeline McCann case. So if you don't
- 1:27Speaker 2: know that case, don't look it up, because we're gonna
- 1:30Speaker 2: be covering it in Thursday's episode of This Week. But basically,
- 1:34Speaker 2: it is a little girl who went missing while on
- 1:37Speaker 2: a family trip in Portugal years and years ago, and
- 1:41Speaker 2: there has been no suspects really like there it's just
- 1:46Speaker 2: like a completely cold case. And they now believe that
- 1:50Speaker 2: they have a suspect. So so yeah, but don't look
- 1:54Speaker 2: it up now. I'll cover all of that on Thursday's episode.
- 1:58Speaker 2: I'm gonna cover the whole case and then the current
- 2:00Speaker 2: updates and what's going on now.
- 2:02Speaker 1: If you're a true crime addict though, like us, you
- 2:04Speaker 1: probably know at least a little bit about that because
- 2:07Speaker 1: that's one of those cases that just eats you up,
- 2:10Speaker 1: especially because like she was such a tiny, young little girl.
- 2:15Speaker 1: So I really hope that this goes somewhere and then
- 2:18Speaker 1: it's it is what it is, you know.
- 2:21Speaker 2: Yeah, I know, and there. I mean, there was a
- 2:23Speaker 2: whole Netflix documentary on it, so you've probably seen that
- 2:27Speaker 2: if you are a true crime documentary. But it's just
- 2:31Speaker 2: there's so much back and forth of are the parents involved?
- 2:34Speaker 2: Is it something else? Like it's just such a crazy case,
- 2:37Speaker 2: and so I really hope that they are able to
- 2:39Speaker 2: confirm this and you know, get justice for a little
- 2:43Speaker 2: sweet Madeline.
- 2:44Speaker 1: Yeah, me too. There was like there was like some suspects,
- 2:48Speaker 1: these brothers. I can't remember their last names. Oh, but
- 2:51Speaker 1: right the I can't remember off the top of my head,
- 2:54Speaker 1: but it kind of got brushed under the rug because
- 2:59Speaker 1: they were like, yeah political, you know, yeah whatever realm.
- 3:05Speaker 1: So yeah, I really hope that this they finally get
- 3:07Speaker 1: some justice for this little girl.
- 3:09Speaker 2: I know, me too, but yeah, so you can look
- 3:13Speaker 2: forward to that on in Thursday's episode. But today Andrea
- 3:18Speaker 2: is going to be covering an awesome case. I think.
- 3:21Speaker 2: I actually did not look at the document, so I
- 3:24Speaker 2: don't know what she's covering. So I'm excited.
- 3:26Speaker 1: It's not really even the case. It's more of a well,
- 3:29Speaker 1: I don't know, it's a little spooky story because I
- 3:33Speaker 1: feel like it's spooky season. We said we were gonna
- 3:36Speaker 1: bring you guys some spooky stuff, and we've had some
- 3:39Speaker 1: heavy stuff over the last few weeks. And I know,
- 3:42Speaker 1: like that's what we do, that's why we're here. But
- 3:45Speaker 1: you know, every once in a while, it's nice to
- 3:47Speaker 1: throw something different into the mix, and that is what
- 3:50Speaker 1: I'm going to be doing today.
- 3:52Speaker 2: I'm so excited.
- 3:54Speaker 1: But before I get started, I just wanted to address
- 3:58Speaker 1: something from a previous episode that I covered. I just
- 4:02Speaker 1: want to apologize to Natalie and her family for mispronouncing
- 4:06Speaker 1: their last name. It is Holloway, not Halloway, which was
- 4:12Speaker 1: a big mistake of mine. I'd also like to just
- 4:16Speaker 1: address the person who left us the reviews stating that
- 4:19Speaker 1: I mispronounced their last name due to being young, or
- 4:24Speaker 1: being unintelligent, not doing my research, or not caring about
- 4:28Speaker 1: the case. I can assure you that absolutely none of
- 4:32Speaker 1: those reasons are true. Firstly, I am in my thirties.
- 4:38Speaker 1: I know I may not sound like it because I
- 4:40Speaker 1: am a millennial and I say like and and stuff,
- 4:44Speaker 1: but that's just who I am, that's just who we
- 4:47Speaker 1: are really.
- 4:49Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 4:50Speaker 1: I also have a bachelor's degree, a bachelor's of Science degree,
- 4:54Speaker 1: and for that case and pretty much all of the
- 4:57Speaker 1: cases that I research, I did our and hours of research,
- 5:02Speaker 1: and I also listen to other podcasts on the case.
- 5:06Speaker 1: But we're human. We just make mistakes, you know, We've
- 5:11Speaker 1: never we've never claimed to be perfect here on inhuman
- 5:14Speaker 1: and I am willing to bet more mistakes will be
- 5:17Speaker 1: made in the future as we learn and grow. My
- 5:22Speaker 1: mistake was not intentional, nor was it meant to be disrespectful,
- 5:26Speaker 1: but I do thank you for your review and bringing
- 5:29Speaker 1: that to my attention. And lastly to all of our listeners,
- 5:33Speaker 1: always remember to be kind.
- 5:36Speaker 2: Yeah, that's a good point. I mean, it's we appreciate corrections,
- 5:40Speaker 2: especially when we say things wrong. Yeah, Andrea just said,
- 5:44Speaker 2: we're not perfect. We don't know everything and oftentimes, at
- 5:47Speaker 2: least I know, for me, I do a lot of
- 5:50Speaker 2: research reading articles, so I don't always like actually hear
- 5:54Speaker 2: pronunciations of things, and so you know, we make those mistakes,
- 6:00Speaker 2: and we do appreciate you guys correcting us, but just
- 6:03Speaker 2: try to be kind about it. You know, we're not
- 6:06Speaker 2: doing mispronouncing things or saying things wrong to try to
- 6:11Speaker 2: like on purpose where it's totally mistake, and so you know,
- 6:15Speaker 2: We're happy for you to correct us and help us
- 6:18Speaker 2: learn and grow, but just please be kind about it.
- 6:21Speaker 2: You know, constructive criticism is appreciated.
- 6:23Speaker 1: Yeah, absolutely, we are mature enough to handle constructive criticism.
- 6:29Speaker 1: Sometimes it's not always given to us in that way,
- 6:31Speaker 1: and that's okay. Everyone's got their own demons to deal with.
- 6:35Speaker 1: But you know, I just wanted to kind of say
- 6:37Speaker 1: that because most importantly, I do want to apologize because
- 6:41Speaker 1: I did go back and listen because I know her
- 6:43Speaker 1: last name is Holloway, not Halla, and I wanted I
- 6:47Speaker 1: went back to listen after I read the review, and
- 6:48Speaker 1: I was like, shit, I did mispronounce it. And I
- 6:52Speaker 1: remember thinking like the whole time, don't say Halloway because like, yeah,
- 6:57Speaker 1: maybe it's my southern accent. I want to just say
- 6:59Speaker 1: like how or Halloway or you know, it's it's I'm
- 7:03Speaker 1: not gonna make excuses for myself, but I remember like
- 7:07Speaker 1: trying to remind myself, like make sure you say it right.
- 7:10Speaker 1: And I only said it like once or twice, so yeah,
- 7:12Speaker 1: it is what it is.
- 7:14Speaker 2: And speaking of reviews and stuff, if you guys do
- 7:17Speaker 2: have a couple seconds and haven't reviewed us, please be
- 7:20Speaker 2: sure to leave us rating and review. As of this morning,
- 7:23Speaker 2: we were at ninety nine ratings, so that's double almost
- 7:28Speaker 2: double what our goal was for this year. And we're
- 7:31Speaker 2: actually showing up on Apple and Spotify like true crime
- 7:36Speaker 2: podcast playlists, charts, and so the more you guys review,
- 7:41Speaker 2: the more we get pushed out. And we really appreciate
- 7:44Speaker 2: every single review, even the not so positive ones. But
- 7:48Speaker 2: if you are enjoying this podcast and you're listening on Apple,
- 7:51Speaker 2: if you wouldn't mind leaving us a little review, we
- 7:53Speaker 2: would so.
- 7:54Speaker 1: Greatly appreciate it. That's all right, Okay, So now let's
- 7:59Speaker 1: get on to my spooky story my episode for today.
- 8:04Speaker 1: It's gonna be a little mix of history one oh
- 8:07Speaker 1: one and a little spooky scary skeletons.
- 8:11Speaker 2: Oh. I love this. It's like fall weather today. I'm
- 8:16Speaker 2: drinking an iced chi with pumpkin cold foam. I am
- 8:19Speaker 2: just like oh for this right now.
- 8:20Speaker 1: Yes, so a little bit more lighthearted, a little bit
- 8:25Speaker 1: of history, but I am covering the Winchester Mystery House.
- 8:32Speaker 2: Okay, So I feel like I've heard this, but I
- 8:37Speaker 2: also can't remember anything about it, So I am like
- 8:41Speaker 2: so pumped right now.
- 8:42Speaker 1: So the first time I heard about this. Matt and
- 8:44Speaker 1: I were actually watching at some show on the History
- 8:49Speaker 1: Channel several years ago, like years and years and years ago,
- 8:54Speaker 1: and I remember thinking like it sounded like so neat
- 8:58Speaker 1: and so interesting, like the details of this this woman
- 9:02Speaker 1: and like the house that she built and everything like that.
- 9:06Speaker 1: And then when I was trying to think of like
- 9:07Speaker 1: spooky cases that were like not too far off the
- 9:12Speaker 1: ghostly deep end right, that had like a lot of
- 9:16Speaker 1: you know, information about it, this was like the first
- 9:18Speaker 1: one that popped into my mind. So I was like,
- 9:20Speaker 1: I'm going to cover it during spooky season.
- 9:23Speaker 2: So here we are. I'm so excited.
- 9:25Speaker 1: Yeah. Okay, So Sarah Winchester, who was the heir of
- 9:30Speaker 1: the Winchester gun fortune. So if you are a gun
- 9:34Speaker 1: enthusiast or know anything about guns, one of the brands
- 9:36Speaker 1: is Winchester. She was quite the eccentric woman. She was
- 9:41Speaker 1: the widow of firearm arms mogul William Wirt Winchester, so
- 9:47Speaker 1: technically he would have been the you know, breadwinner, and
- 9:50Speaker 1: then he passed away, so she became the heir to
- 9:53Speaker 1: that fortune.
- 9:54Speaker 2: Girl power.
- 9:55Speaker 3: Yeah, well I don't know because okay, you'll see I
- 10:01Speaker 3: don't want to give to you much day and William
- 10:05Speaker 3: unfortunately passed away on March seventh of eighteen eighty one,
- 10:09Speaker 3: so we're wrowing it way back.
- 10:12Speaker 1: And his cause of death was tuberculosis, which is very
- 10:16Speaker 1: common during that time.
- 10:17Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 10:18Speaker 1: The couple had also had one child, Annie Pardie, who
- 10:23Speaker 1: unfortunately died about a month after birth in eighteen sixty six.
- 10:28Speaker 2: That's so sad. I feel like, Oh, it's like, okay,
- 10:31Speaker 2: kind of a side note, but if you guys don't
- 10:33Speaker 2: follow the account on TikTok where she cleans old graves.
- 10:38Speaker 1: Oh yeah, what.
- 10:39Speaker 2: Is her name, I don't know. It's okay, hold on,
- 10:43Speaker 2: I'm going to look it up, because like, she cleans
- 10:47Speaker 2: old graves, so it's like really satisfying. But then she
- 10:50Speaker 2: also like tells the tells her stories. Yeah, and I
- 10:54Speaker 2: feel like so many of them die of consumption. So
- 10:58Speaker 2: that's what made me think of it. But okay, her uh,
- 11:01Speaker 2: her TikTok is manic pixie mom and it's so her.
- 11:07Speaker 2: I love her account, like she's so she does such
- 11:09Speaker 2: a good job of telling the stories. Yeah, and so anyway,
- 11:13Speaker 2: just a side note, but that made me think of that.
- 11:16Speaker 1: Yeah, it's super satisfying to watch her like clean, and
- 11:19Speaker 1: it's it's nice to I mean, I know that's probably
- 11:22Speaker 1: her job, but it's still nice to know, like somebody
- 11:23Speaker 1: still cares about that because no, it's.
- 11:25Speaker 2: Not her job. Oh it's not doing it, like just
- 11:28Speaker 2: because she like wants to be a good person.
- 11:30Speaker 1: Well that makes me like her more now.
- 11:33Speaker 2: Yeah. And but a lot of people in early times
- 11:37Speaker 2: died of tuberculosis, yeah.
- 11:40Speaker 1: Which they call which is such a thing because they like, Okay,
- 11:42Speaker 1: that's what I was gonna say. I don't even know,
- 11:44Speaker 1: like because they can't breathe.
- 11:45Speaker 2: So it's like, I don't know, I really assume to you. Yeah,
- 11:48Speaker 2: it does.
- 11:48Speaker 1: Like they can't they're coughing and they can't breathe, and
- 11:50Speaker 1: they just die.
- 11:51Speaker 2: It's kind of it's kind of sad what happens is people.
- 11:54Speaker 1: Luckily we don't have to worry about that.
- 11:55Speaker 2: Yeah, anyway, I know, railing over, let's get back to it, Okay.
- 12:02Speaker 1: So, obviously devastated by the death of her husband and
- 12:06Speaker 1: her daughter, Sarah reportedly consulted with a psychic, which I
- 12:12Speaker 1: feel like for those times, I don't know, is that common.
- 12:16Speaker 1: I feel like that's not a very common practice for
- 12:18Speaker 1: those times to like do something like.
- 12:19Speaker 2: That, so I feel like it's not. But then at
- 12:22Speaker 2: the same time, like I feel like witches and things
- 12:25Speaker 2: like that were kind of a thing, So yeah, maybe
- 12:28Speaker 2: it's not that far out, but yeah, I feel like
- 12:30Speaker 2: it's not. It wasn't as common. Yeah.
- 12:33Speaker 1: So, this psychic informed Sarah that the victims killed by
- 12:38Speaker 1: the Winchester rifles her family manufactured were seeking revenge by
- 12:44Speaker 1: taking the lives of her family.
- 12:46Speaker 2: Oh my gosh.
- 12:47Speaker 1: Yeah, And I remember when I like was watching that
- 12:50Speaker 1: show that like they said that, and I was like,
- 12:54Speaker 1: oh my god, Like, yeah, I don't know that could
- 12:57Speaker 1: totally happen. I guess.
- 12:59Speaker 2: I mean, you're you're it's like Iron Man producing weapons
- 13:05Speaker 2: or Stark Industries producing weapons, and then you're like getting
- 13:10Speaker 2: what's the word, like blamed for that?
- 13:12Speaker 1: Yeah, a similar Like it's not their fault because like
- 13:15Speaker 1: what people choose to do, Like it's the person who
- 13:18Speaker 1: is holding it gun, like it's their responsibility their actions
- 13:22Speaker 1: and consequences. But spirit spirits do what they want to do.
- 13:26Speaker 2: I guess, yeah, exactly, they might not know that you're
- 13:29Speaker 2: not the one doing it, right.
- 13:32Speaker 1: The psychic also told Sarah that the spirits had placed
- 13:35Speaker 1: a curse on her and that if she wanted to live,
- 13:38Speaker 1: she must appease them by moving out west and constantly,
- 13:43Speaker 1: without seizing build a house for them day and night.
- 13:49Speaker 2: Oh I have heard this. I just realized what they say. Yes,
- 13:54Speaker 2: Oh my gosh.
- 13:55Speaker 1: So after a few or a few years after her
- 13:58Speaker 1: husband's death, Sarah moved from New Haven, Connecticut, where she
- 14:02Speaker 1: and William lived, to San Jose, California, to officially start over.
- 14:08Speaker 2: That's crazy.
- 14:09Speaker 1: She purchased a small farmhouse and soon began the renovation
- 14:14Speaker 1: project on the home. Originally the eight room farmhouse would
- 14:20Speaker 1: soon become one of the most infamous and mysterious mansions
- 14:24Speaker 1: ever built. Yeah, so the renovator what the I don't
- 14:30Speaker 1: know what word I was trying to say. The renovations
- 14:33Speaker 1: began in eighteen eighty four and did not cease until
- 14:37Speaker 1: Sarah passed away in nineteen twenty two.
- 14:41Speaker 2: That is freaking wild.
- 14:43Speaker 1: That's so much labor and so much money. It said
- 14:48Speaker 1: that by the end, like by her death, she spent
- 14:52Speaker 1: five million dollars on renovations. And that's that time frames, right,
- 14:59Speaker 1: money equivalent, you know, right, not today's money probably, Like
- 15:04Speaker 1: that's like seventy five million dollars or something.
- 15:07Speaker 2: How much. It was five million, yeah, thirteen million about thirteen.
- 15:13Speaker 2: Oh wait, one million in nineteen twenty is thirteen million today.
- 15:17Speaker 2: So so five to thirteen thirteen sixty five million, So
- 15:21Speaker 2: you were oh yeah, it was closed, So like sixty
- 15:24Speaker 2: seventy five million.
- 15:25Speaker 1: That's crazy.
- 15:26Speaker 2: Okay, that's a lot of money.
- 15:28Speaker 1: That is a lot of money. So, as I mentioned before,
- 15:31Speaker 1: the renovations were literally around the clock, and they were
- 15:34Speaker 1: ever changing. The Winchester mansion was known as a modern marvel.
- 15:40Speaker 1: It had indoor plumbing, central heating, a hot shower, and
- 15:44Speaker 1: elevators galore, which for that time was like unheard of.
- 15:49Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 15:50Speaker 1: The mansion had over one hundred and sixty rooms and
- 15:53Speaker 1: forty bedrooms, ten thousand windows, and two basements.
- 15:59Speaker 2: How does it of two basements?
- 16:02Speaker 1: I don't know if they were side by side or
- 16:04Speaker 1: if they were one under the other. I assume one
- 16:06Speaker 1: under the other, right, But they obviously had two different
- 16:12Speaker 1: insurances to get to them. This unique home had many
- 16:16Speaker 1: outstanding elements of Victorian architecture and exquisite craftsmanship. There are
- 16:22Speaker 1: rooms with gold plated fixtures, elegant doors and windows of
- 16:26Speaker 1: stained tiffany glass set in silver, which, if you know
- 16:32Speaker 1: anything about stained tiffany glass. It's super expensive and it's
- 16:36Speaker 1: like really hard to come by.
- 16:39Speaker 2: Is that like the really pretty like stained glass?
- 16:42Speaker 1: Yeah?
- 16:43Speaker 2: Okay yeah yeah. Wow.
- 16:45Speaker 1: However, among the modern marvels and beautiful accents were some
- 16:49Speaker 1: very unique details. First of all, not all two thousand
- 16:55Speaker 1: doors in the home could be opened and walked through.
- 16:59Speaker 2: So why would you have a or if you can't
- 17:00Speaker 2: open it?
- 17:01Speaker 1: Well, we'll get to that just a moment. One of
- 17:05Speaker 1: the doors led to an eight foot drop into the
- 17:09Speaker 1: kitchen sink. Another led to a fifteen foot drop off
- 17:15Speaker 1: into bushes in the garden below.
- 17:18Speaker 2: Why, we'll get to it.
- 17:22Speaker 1: Okay, okay, okay. So there were staircases leading straight into ceilings.
- 17:28Speaker 1: Some of the expensive tiffany stained glass windows were installed
- 17:32Speaker 1: in places where no light would pass through, and there
- 17:37Speaker 1: were multiple secret passages.
- 17:41Speaker 2: That's spooky.
- 17:42Speaker 1: There is also a cabinet that, when open, would extend
- 17:47Speaker 1: through thirty rooms of the house. Wow, that's insane. It's like, uh,
- 17:54Speaker 1: what was that book Finding Narnia? No, not Finding Narnia?
- 17:57Speaker 2: What is it called? The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe?
- 18:00Speaker 1: Yeah, like they walked through the wardrobe in this whole
- 18:06Speaker 1: other world. So as I mentioned before, there are some
- 18:10Speaker 1: spooky theories as to why Sarah moved from Connecticut to
- 18:15Speaker 1: California and began building this mansion. One theory being that,
- 18:21Speaker 1: like I said, she spoke to a psychic and that
- 18:24Speaker 1: psychic told her to move and that the spirits of
- 18:27Speaker 1: the people killed by the Winchester guns demanded it. Another
- 18:31Speaker 1: theory was that Sarah believed that as soon as construction
- 18:36Speaker 1: was complete, she would die, which in a way, that
- 18:42Speaker 1: is what happened, but it's more of you know, she
- 18:47Speaker 1: died and the construction was finally able to stop, as
- 18:51Speaker 1: opposed to vice versa.
- 18:53Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 18:53Speaker 1: Another theory suggests that she built the house like a
- 18:56Speaker 1: maze in order to keep her para normal tormentors at
- 19:01Speaker 1: bay and to try and invade them, as she would
- 19:05Speaker 1: sleep in a different room every night and take different
- 19:07Speaker 1: paths through her home daily.
- 19:10Speaker 2: Wow, so that she was like fully freaked out, like she.
- 19:14Speaker 1: Was convinced she was either seeing some shit or really
- 19:20Speaker 1: believed like what the psychic had told her, which sounds
- 19:24Speaker 1: just like a horrible life to live. Yeah, So basically
- 19:29Speaker 1: she was she built this crazy, you know, maze of
- 19:32Speaker 1: a house to evade the spirits, so that would account
- 19:36Speaker 1: for like why there was the staircases and the secret
- 19:39Speaker 1: passages and all that.
- 19:41Speaker 2: Right, Okay, so that makes sense. She was trying to
- 19:43Speaker 2: like throw them off and have it be okay. Yeah,
- 19:47Speaker 2: I understand, which, like.
- 19:48Speaker 1: You know, spirits I guess can travel through stairs and
- 19:52Speaker 1: walls and things. So yeah, but in her mind, you know,
- 19:56Speaker 1: maybe that was like the safest thing for her to do.
- 19:58Speaker 2: So basic, she's building this house NonStop because if not,
- 20:03Speaker 2: she's gonna die.
- 20:05Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 20:05Speaker 2: But she's also while she's building it, trying to make
- 20:09Speaker 2: it tricky so that any potential spirit will get confused.
- 20:13Speaker 1: Right exactly, Okay, And it makes me wonder if she
- 20:16Speaker 1: really was being like tormented by something.
- 20:19Speaker 2: Yeah, you know, she must have been. She had to
- 20:21Speaker 2: have been, like, you don't I get the continuing construction
- 20:26Speaker 2: because she doesn't want to die, yeah, but the making
- 20:29Speaker 2: it all like crazy, she must have like been somewhat
- 20:33Speaker 2: tormented by it. Yeah.
- 20:35Speaker 1: In nineteen oh six, a massive earthquake occurred and crushed
- 20:39Speaker 1: the top three stories of the house, while also damaging
- 20:42Speaker 1: the other four stories along with it. It's rumored that
- 20:45Speaker 1: Sarah thought this to be a sign from the spirits
- 20:49Speaker 1: that she was too close to completion, so she actually
- 20:53Speaker 1: ordered the unfinished front half of the house to be
- 20:57Speaker 1: boarded up, so never to be completed. Essentially, Wow, that
- 21:03Speaker 1: portion of the home is now open, but signs of
- 21:06Speaker 1: damage from the earthquake are still clearly visible. Okay, okay,
- 21:11Speaker 1: So now let's discuss some more of the spookier side
- 21:15Speaker 1: of this mystery mansion. Fun little fact. In nineteen twenty
- 21:19Speaker 1: four Houdini visited the Winchester mansion during his nationwide tour
- 21:26Speaker 1: to sort of debunk the ghostly activity. So even he
- 21:30Speaker 1: had heard about like this crazy mansion and like what
- 21:34Speaker 1: was going on, you know, with Sarah Winchester and everything.
- 21:37Speaker 2: Wow.
- 21:38Speaker 1: Yeah. In twenty fourteen Paranormal and I've seen this episode
- 21:43Speaker 1: Paranormal Investigators, Zach Begans of travel channels Ghost Adventures visited
- 21:49Speaker 1: the mansion and he brought along Sylvia Brown and a
- 21:55Speaker 1: medium by the name of our psychic by the name
- 21:58Speaker 1: of Sylvia Brown and a medium named James Van Prague.
- 22:04Speaker 2: I'm assuming is Sylvia Brown the psychic that was on
- 22:10Speaker 2: the show when Amanda Berry when her mom went.
- 22:14Speaker 1: On it on Ghost Adventures, No on, Like, oh that
- 22:21Speaker 1: name does ring a bell.
- 22:22Speaker 2: I think she might have been the psychic that told
- 22:25Speaker 2: Amanda Berry's mom that she was dead.
- 22:29Speaker 1: Oh, because one of the did you ever watch the
- 22:33Speaker 1: show Ghost Adventures?
- 22:35Speaker 2: I haven't because I get really freaked out, but I should.
- 22:39Speaker 1: Well, there's an investigator, and I guess she considered herself
- 22:44Speaker 1: somewhat of a psychic. That was her and her husband
- 22:48Speaker 1: like frequently were guests on the show. And he killed
- 22:52Speaker 1: her and then killed hisself. Yeah god, yeah, and like
- 22:57Speaker 1: everyone thinks that he was like possessed and all this
- 23:02Speaker 1: stuff because of like what they did. Let's see, Yeah
- 23:08Speaker 1: it was her. Oh that's crazy, all right, so we
- 23:12Speaker 1: all believe.
- 23:12Speaker 2: What she said. Yeah, we don't believe what she says,
- 23:15Speaker 2: because she told Amanda Barry's mom that Amanda Barry was
- 23:18Speaker 2: no longer live even though she was.
- 23:20Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 23:20Speaker 1: Well, allegedly these two people channeled Sarah Winchester in a
- 23:25Speaker 1: seance dinner, so, you know, like a dinner with a seance.
- 23:31Speaker 1: I don't know, I've never heard of that, but allegedly
- 23:35Speaker 1: dinner with hands sounds riveting. Yeah, So they claimed to
- 23:45Speaker 1: have channeled Sarah Winchester, and the medium claimed that Sarah
- 23:52Speaker 1: expressed happiness that the house had so many visitors, which
- 23:57Speaker 1: I don't know. I have like a fifty to fifty
- 23:59Speaker 1: things on those kind of people. Like sometimes I'm like,
- 24:02Speaker 1: oh yeah, but then other times I'm like, you're full
- 24:04Speaker 1: of shit, You're just trying to make money.
- 24:07Speaker 2: I feel like I don't know if Sarah would be
- 24:09Speaker 2: happy that people were visiting, Like I feel like she
- 24:11Speaker 2: would be like freaked out that people.
- 24:13Speaker 1: Were like something would happen, yeah, and like disrupt the
- 24:17Speaker 1: spirits or something exactly. Yeah, And there have been like
- 24:21Speaker 1: other paranormal investigative teams that have gone out there. I
- 24:25Speaker 1: think Ghost Hunters, which is another show. I think they
- 24:28Speaker 1: went out there. Yeah, and just like you know, those
- 24:32Speaker 1: kind of crowds at draws of course.
- 24:35Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 24:36Speaker 1: But both visitors and employees claim to have seen like
- 24:41Speaker 1: spooky sightings.
- 24:43Speaker 2: Okay, I mean, you know, I definitely believe that spooky
- 24:47Speaker 2: things happen, so you know, yeah, me too, be very true.
- 24:50Speaker 1: I do. I do. I believe think. I believe in
- 24:53Speaker 1: you know, presences and things like that. So a number
- 24:58Speaker 1: of employees as well as some visitors, like I said,
- 25:01Speaker 1: claim to have come across a man named Clyde aka
- 25:06Speaker 1: the Willbarrow Ghost, who has a little mustache and is
- 25:11Speaker 1: sometimes seen pushing a willbarrow in the basement or trying
- 25:15Speaker 1: to repair the fireplace in the ballroom. He has he
- 25:19Speaker 1: has been described to management like, Wow, we really like
- 25:24Speaker 1: the actor who was repairing the ballroom fireplace wearing white
- 25:28Speaker 1: overalls and a Victorian voter hat. And the management is like, Uh,
- 25:34Speaker 1: we don't have any actors. We've never hired any actors.
- 25:38Speaker 2: Oh my god.
- 25:40Speaker 1: So it actually came to light that there was a
- 25:44Speaker 1: former worker on the property known as Clyde who seems
- 25:48Speaker 1: to now be a popular resident at the Winchester estate. Okay,
- 25:52Speaker 1: and one of the websites I use, which I'll of
- 25:54Speaker 1: course source them all in the notes the show notes below.
- 25:59Speaker 1: But there's actually a picture of him, or a picture
- 26:01Speaker 1: of like a group of men from like that time,
- 26:04Speaker 1: and he's the one on the far right, and he
- 26:08Speaker 1: looks spooky to me. He doesn't look like me some
- 26:11Speaker 1: friendly white overall Victorian boter hat guy. Like he looks like,
- 26:16Speaker 1: you know, because they're all not smiling, they're just kind
- 26:19Speaker 1: of like gazing into the camera.
- 26:22Speaker 2: I mean, that definitely sounds very spooky. Wooky.
- 26:25Speaker 1: Yeah. There are also reports of gentle tugs on clothing
- 26:29Speaker 1: during tours, and another report from a long time maintenance
- 26:33Speaker 1: worker named Denny, who claimed one morning after entering the
- 26:37Speaker 1: water tower, he heard the patcher of little footsteps like
- 26:42Speaker 1: above him, so he went up to let the trespasser
- 26:46Speaker 1: know that the three story structure was off limits, but
- 26:50Speaker 1: the footsteps always seemed to be one step ahead or
- 26:54Speaker 1: one floor above, and his search ended up on the
- 26:57Speaker 1: roof with absolutely no one inside.
- 27:00Speaker 2: Oh that's so creepy.
- 27:02Speaker 1: Yeah, I've heard footsteps before, and that is a creepy
- 27:06Speaker 1: feeling because it's like my mind always goes to like
- 27:10Speaker 1: an actual person, like an intruder, not a ghostly person.
- 27:15Speaker 1: So that's more terrifying to me.
- 27:18Speaker 2: When we moved into our house was when like the
- 27:21Speaker 2: trend on TikTok was going around where you use that
- 27:24Speaker 2: like filter to see if there's anything, and I wanted
- 27:27Speaker 2: to do it so bad just moved in, and I
- 27:30Speaker 2: was like, if I do this and see something, I
- 27:32Speaker 2: will lose my shit. I can't live.
- 27:34Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 27:35Speaker 2: Oh but oh my gosh, like those videos freaked me
- 27:38Speaker 2: out so much.
- 27:40Speaker 1: Yeah, I never did those either because of that exact reason.
- 27:43Speaker 1: So I was like, I have to have to continue
- 27:45Speaker 1: living in this place and the house that I used
- 27:47Speaker 1: to live in. Someone actually did die there. Do you
- 27:50Speaker 1: remember that?
- 27:50Speaker 2: Yeah, and you would like definitely see and hear things there.
- 27:54Speaker 1: Yes, I definitely did, and it was it was not
- 27:58Speaker 1: it was uncomfortable to say the least.
- 28:01Speaker 2: Well, I'm glad you're not there anymore.
- 28:03Speaker 1: Yeah, me too. So the most commonly reported supernatural occurrences
- 28:09Speaker 1: is the appearance of shadowy human shape manifestations. Shadow figures
- 28:15Speaker 1: that resemble people are reportedly seen roaming around corners, down
- 28:19Speaker 1: long hallways, and appearing in windows. In twenty fifteen, a
- 28:24Speaker 1: former marketing director employed by the house actually captured a
- 28:28Speaker 1: photo where there appears to be a human shaped apparition
- 28:34Speaker 1: looking out from the second story window onto the front gardens.
- 28:40Speaker 1: I saw the picture, and honestly, it was very difficult
- 28:42Speaker 1: for me to make out a person. It's like a
- 28:47Speaker 1: glare more so. But it's definitely there's a contrast between
- 28:53Speaker 1: like all the other windows in that window. So I
- 28:56Speaker 1: could see how some would think that.
- 28:59Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 28:59Speaker 1: The Winchester Mystery House was named one of Time Magazine's
- 29:03Speaker 1: top ten most Haunted houses in America, which that's like
- 29:07Speaker 1: a big time wow.
- 29:08Speaker 2: Yeah, that's pretty Yeah.
- 29:10Speaker 1: So as of now, the mansion is available for tours.
- 29:14Speaker 1: There is a self guided tour and the Sarah Winchester
- 29:18Speaker 1: Garden Tour, which is a tour of the outside premises
- 29:23Speaker 1: of the home, which is on six acres I believe.
- 29:27Speaker 1: So that's a pretty good sized tour in my opinion. Yeah.
- 29:30Speaker 1: The garden tour has many points of interest, such as
- 29:34Speaker 1: the greenhouse, a tank house, and a fruit drying shed,
- 29:39Speaker 1: which I just thought that was funny.
- 29:40Speaker 2: I don't know why.
- 29:41Speaker 1: And there are also flashlight tours around Halloween and every
- 29:45Speaker 1: Friday the thirteenth.
- 29:47Speaker 2: Ooh, nope, yeah, thank you.
- 29:49Speaker 1: I think that would be kind of cool.
- 29:51Speaker 2: I don't know.
- 29:51Speaker 1: I like spooky stuff like that, Like I'm all into it,
- 29:53Speaker 1: like balls to the wall, ready to get scared and spooky.
- 29:57Speaker 2: I like reading about it, I don't like being in
- 30:01Speaker 2: experiencing it. Yeah, Like I can read about it here it,
- 30:05Speaker 2: listen to it, watch it, but not in person. I'm good.
- 30:08Speaker 1: I can get that. So that is the spooky and
- 30:12Speaker 1: tragic tale of Sarah Winchester and the Winchester Mystery Mansion,
- 30:18Speaker 1: and I just love that story so much. I don't
- 30:20Speaker 1: know why. I guess because it's like history and spooky stuff,
- 30:23Speaker 1: which are two things I find really interesting. Yeah, and
- 30:26Speaker 1: that's why I wanted to share it with you guys.
- 30:28Speaker 1: So I hope some of you haven't heard it, and
- 30:30Speaker 1: it's a new little tale and you can share it
- 30:32Speaker 1: with your friends and get all spooky and scared.
- 30:36Speaker 2: Yeah. Oh that was so good. And even though I've
- 30:38Speaker 2: heard it, like I don't, I didn't remember a lot
- 30:40Speaker 2: of that. So yeah, that was like I am full
- 30:43Speaker 2: on spooked and ready for Halloween.
- 30:45Speaker 1: Yeah, So this one, I hope you guys did enjoy.
- 30:50Speaker 1: I hope that you liked it. As always, make sure

- 31:28Speaker 2: Yeah. Yeah, and we also have been having some more
- 31:31Speaker 2: people joining our Facebook group, and there's been some like,

- 31:43Speaker 2: and see your guys comments on things like that, especially

- 32:04Speaker 1: on our TikTok, which is in human podcasts.
- 32:08Speaker 2: Yeah, in Human podcast. We should probably we should probably
- 32:12Speaker 2: change our TikTok to be in Human Underscore podcast so
- 32:16Speaker 2: that it's the same as our Instagram and Twitter.
- 32:18Speaker 1: I was thinking that too, but I didn't know if
- 32:19Speaker 1: someone already had it, and that's why we didn't do
- 32:21Speaker 1: that to begin with.
- 32:22Speaker 2: But no, I think I didn't when I created it.
- 32:24Speaker 2: I didn't do it because to say thank Yeah, but
- 32:29Speaker 2: we will most likely change our TikTok too, in Human
- 32:32Speaker 2: Underscore Podcast.
- 32:34Speaker 1: Yes, so make sure you're following us over there as well,
- 32:37Speaker 1: unless there's anything else you want to input.
- 32:41Speaker 2: No, that was really good. I'm really excited that you
- 32:43Speaker 2: did a spooky case.
- 32:44Speaker 1: Yeah, I have a couple more I think plan, well,
- 32:47Speaker 1: at least one more plan before Halloween.
- 32:49Speaker 2: So all right, yeah, I might do one or two.
- 32:52Speaker 2: Also I have to decide. Yeah, there's some I want
- 32:55Speaker 2: to cover.
- 32:56Speaker 1: But well, thank you guys, thank you than y'all so
- 33:00Speaker 1: much for listening, and we will catch up with you
- 33:04Speaker 1: on Thursday, and until then, keep it human.
