- 0:03If you are a B2B service based business owner and you are
- 0:06looking to gain more clients, create more impact and more
- 0:09revenue in your business, TuneIn to amplify your marketing
- 0:13message with Christine Campbell Rappin.
- 0:15Every week we're going to take you through how to build an
- 0:17audience of buyers mastering your marketing message and
- 0:20making offers. Welcome back everybody.
- 0:24To amplify your marketing message.
- 0:26There has been a refrain I've heard an awful lot of since we
- 0:31started this year and it was, I am really busy.
- 0:35I am effective at booking one to one meetings, but they don't
- 0:39seem to go anywhere. So if that's you, this is your
- 0:44episode. Make sure you share it, save it
- 0:47and come back to it because this is not a reflection of the
- 0:52marketplaces buying behavior. It's a reflection of how you're
- 0:55leading, who you're talking to, and whether you are, in fact, in
- 0:59the right room. This is amplify your marketing
- 1:02message. I'm your host, Christine
- 1:03Campbell Rappin. I am a business strategist who
- 1:06helps people like you figure out how to find more consistently
- 1:12the right clients who are willing to say yes.
- 1:15Today and when I hear this comment, I'm in lots of 1 to one
- 1:20meetings, but they're not going anywhere.
- 1:23I have one simple truth. There is a gigantic elephant in
- 1:28the room, my friends. You're not talking to buyers.
- 1:32And what's really important if you want to create stability
- 1:36consistently and predictability with your client activity, your
- 1:41acquisition of new business, it's imperative that you are
- 1:45looking for people who are ready to implement, not just those who
- 1:50are looking to consume knowledge.
- 1:53And so if this is a bit of a wow, I've thought of it that
- 1:58way. Hang with me because I want to
- 2:01ask you if you have intentionally built a business
- 2:04that supports consistent client, if you want steady income and
- 2:09sustainable growth, how do you actually get there?
- 2:12Because I think it's time to go back to basics.
- 2:15So the first thing I want you to remember, and if you're new to
- 2:19our show, you may not have heard this in a few episodes, but
- 2:23buyers are decision makers. So you're looking somebody who
- 2:27is already decided. They want to implement a pathway
- 2:32for one sole purpose, a better lived experience, whatever that
- 2:38looks like for them. Someone who is simply consuming
- 2:43knowledge is in the deciding phase they're exploring.
- 2:47And yes, we want to support them, but if we try to convince,
- 2:52we try to educate truthfully, that is a very long pathway to
- 2:56cash, which is why I'm seeing so many peers be an oxygen because
- 3:02they're not creating commercial success.
- 3:05You're in the wrong room talking to the wrong people, and we just
- 3:08need to call that elephant out. But if you know that a buyer is
- 3:12a decision maker, what you're looking to ascertain is whether
- 3:16they have three things happening.
- 3:18Do they know they have a problem?
- 3:22And you need to be very clear here that it is important you
- 3:26put on the lens of what do they perceive and I mean they as the
- 3:30buyer. So many people I have talked to
- 3:35coming out of our big signature event called Turn on Your Plant
- 3:39waterfall have said to me, but I know they have a problem and I
- 3:42know that this is the issue and I know that's going on.
- 3:45And I said you are not going to win clients with your own
- 3:49intelligence. What matters is the problem they
- 3:54perceive because they're only going to be self motivated to
- 3:58fix something in their own intent, in their own benefit,
- 4:03and they do not want to be judged, shamed or criticized
- 4:07from you with your intellect. So watch out because it's a fast
- 4:11way to kill momentum. So they know they have a problem
- 4:15and you need to get crystal clear.
- 4:16What's that problem? What's the problem they
- 4:19perceive? What's the gap in the lived
- 4:21experience that they seek? You have to be able to spot that
- 4:25pattern, empathize with that pattern, and be comfortable in
- 4:31that grenade moment. Life isn't rosy.
- 4:36Something needs to be done. I've stood on this line probably
- 4:40more than once and I have to make a decision.
- 4:43A decision to disrupt and to go beyond theory to go to decided
- 4:47to fix it. So they have a plan and a
- 4:51problem. Now you want to encourage them
- 4:53to say, well, what's going on? What have you tried?
- 4:57Have you started to explore? What else have you looked at?
- 5:00What have you considered? What has come before and you
- 5:03want to be curious in that moment again, zero judgment 0
- 5:09criticism. Just explore with them and then
- 5:12ask them. And so why are we here?
- 5:15So if you've tried all these things, and that could be
- 5:17everything from hiring somebody, taking programs, courses,
- 5:21learning from free resources, and any number of plethora of
- 5:25activities, there's still dissonance, a gap between what
- 5:31we want as a lived experience that has to be just
- 5:34incrementally better for it to be worthwhile to us and where we
- 5:39are right now. And you need to understand that
- 5:41gap. What's the size of that gap?
- 5:43What does it look, feel and experience of it feel like and
- 5:49you need to say be curious if I could solve that and I could
- 5:53make it incrementally better, would we be having a further
- 5:56conversation? And if you don't get permission
- 6:00there, shut up. Black and white my friends
- 6:04because it's not relevant to vomit and offer.
- 6:06And I see it, people that are spending all this time in one to
- 6:09one say, well, do you want me to send you information and you're
- 6:11chasing a non buyer. This is even worse if you have
- 6:16hired an outbound lead Gen. activity or company that's going
- 6:19to do that because they're going to take people who have an
- 6:22industry but not a known problem, and they're going to
- 6:24vomit your stuff at them. And it will burn your
- 6:26relationships and burn your reputation and tar you in a way
- 6:30that can be irrecoverable. So I know I have a problem, and
- 6:35I know I have a gap. And I'm being stirred and
- 6:38invited to consider fresh alternatives or even an
- 6:42alternative I revisited now. But the third thing before we
- 6:47make an offer is we need to know that they are committed to the
- 6:51path. What's the urgency and what's
- 6:54the benefit? And you cannot control this,
- 6:58although you can influence it, and so you need to be prepared.
- 7:05Don't give proposals before someone is said.
- 7:08I want to fix it soon, and I mean soon, typically 30 to 90
- 7:11days. That's where momentum is the
- 7:14hottest. And if you're not in that
- 7:16window, just invite a future conversation and book it in the
- 7:20calendar. So if you're in that place right
- 7:24now, we need to just be crystal clear what's a buyer and do they
- 7:29have these three things going on?
- 7:31But if you want to then move buyers and you want to build
- 7:36your own support in your business, that means consistent
- 7:41client growth, steady income and stainable growth.
- 7:44This connection to buyers doesn't happen miraculously.
- 7:48I'm sorry, it doesn't. Don't believe the sizzle and
- 7:52don't believe that you can circumvent foundations.
- 7:56Because if you want to tap into somebody who's a motivated buyer
- 7:59who's ready to implement, they've tried the sizzle already
- 8:03and not seen the success they wanted.
- 8:06And so we have to have foundations.
- 8:08And if you're thinking I don't have time for foundations or I'm
- 8:11tapped out financially to build the foundations, I want to DIY
- 8:15it myself. Stop it.
- 8:17You're saying this truth? I can't afford to fix the
- 8:23biggest problem that opens the window door, avalanche and
- 8:28waterfall of exactly the river experience you want stability,
- 8:33writing your own paycheck, and sustainable growth beyond a
- 8:37season. So how do we do this?
- 8:40Guys? It's elegantly simple.
- 8:43It is not effortless. So let's just be clear.
- 8:46You have to decide. It's worth it.
- 8:48Worth it to say I'm going to be uncomfortable in the pursuit of
- 8:53my lived outcome, just like your buyer has the same experience.
- 9:01So the first thing I will say is you need to have a bit of a
- 9:03plan. Most of you do not have a plan
- 9:07for clients. You have a plan for your logo,
- 9:09you have a plan for your website, you have a plan for
- 9:12some kind of content. But none of this is a plan of
- 9:17what's the buyer, What do they need, What will interact with
- 9:21them that stirs their curiosity. And so I want to say this
- 9:25because it's the mistake I see people spend typically 50 to
- 9:28$100,000 on is they build systems and they do advanced
- 9:32strategies before there's even clarity.
- 9:35So the first thing we want to start with is clarity.
- 9:38Who's the buyer, what do they want?
- 9:40What interests them? What have they tried and what
- 9:44will get them to move? Second piece is that I want you
- 9:47to build systems once you start having more conversations that
- 9:54support the work of moving somebody, tracking somebody and
- 9:59inviting somebody from I'm curious to wow, I need that,
- 10:03Here's my credit card. And so we do need to have
- 10:07connecting dots. I don't think they need to be
- 10:11complicated. Just so we're clear, when we
- 10:13teach clients in our entry program momentum to Millions, we
- 10:17start with a dashboard. I had built these in Excel.
- 10:21I'm a bit old school. I like Excel, I like Microsoft
- 10:25product, I'm familiar with it. I came from the corporate world.
- 10:28But I had something amazing today, a suggestion from a
- 10:31current client in that program. He said I don't love Excel.
- 10:35So I talked to my favorite AI and I said based on Christina's
- 10:39transcript of our call, please build me a dashboard that I
- 10:42could use every single day. And he said this.
- 10:46It's wild, Christine, the fact that I know what to do, I have a
- 10:50plan, I'm executing it is creating all kinds of
- 10:54opportunities and actual results.
- 10:56And he's like, I know that this was what I wanted, but the
- 10:59experience of it is super impressive.
- 11:04And I'm like, and he showed us how simple he could use the
- 11:07foundations and the tech to build a system that worked to
- 11:12his strengths. And he said, if I keep it on my
- 11:14dashboard and I really focus on it, guess what?
- 11:16I get more effective outcomes. So the third thing you got to
- 11:23think about once you have a plan and you understand that
- 11:27marketing, sales and systems are non-negotiable and you
- 11:30understand how they connect or you hire people like us,
- 11:35specifically us to help you build those connecting dots.
- 11:38The third thing you need to do is have launch and what I mean
- 11:42by is intentional activity to support your marketing and your
- 11:46sales. Two things predict your revenue,
- 11:48how many people you meet that are qualified to be buyers in
- 11:51the future for you and how many offers you're making.
- 11:55And there's a lot of different types of offers from stirring
- 11:59curiosity to this is the investment.
- 12:02The more offers, the more practiced, the bolder you're
- 12:05asked, the more you'll win and the more you'll win for your
- 12:08clients. And that's what we're in service
- 12:11of. But nothing happens without a
- 12:13plan, structure and intention around this.
- 12:19So the fourth piece that's really important is to
- 12:21understand scaling. A lot of people hear that word
- 12:27and go, well, what the heck is scaling?
- 12:30Well, let's just be frank, scaling means different things
- 12:32to different people. But I look at it in this lens,
- 12:36repeatability. The repeatability to have more
- 12:41than one client create the same result, more than one marketing
- 12:47that creates momentum, more than one sales process that leads to
- 12:53predictable, yes, outcomes. But you need to think about the
- 12:58architecture to create repeatability, and I want that
- 13:03architecture to be built with a human in mind.
- 13:08There's incredible fast moving technology now that yes, we will
- 13:12be leveraging and you should be leveraging.
- 13:15But if you put tech before thinking, you will scale chaos.
- 13:20And I see it every day. You've built something you don't
- 13:24understand so when it breaks you can't fix it.
- 13:27You have to 1st be the thinker and then have an automated tech
- 13:33bot partner, whatever you want to choose.
- 13:36Then that pathway support translating it.
- 13:39But I see it time and time again, you have the cart before
- 13:42the horse. Tech doesn't solve the problem
- 13:47of a lack of foundations. Foundations first, structure,
- 13:52systems and repeatability come second.
- 13:58So this is my invitation. I want you to not have a million
- 14:06one to ones that go nowhere. I don't want you in rooms hour
- 14:12after hour in front of people who are curious about you as a
- 14:16human, but not curious about you for your services.
- 14:19I don't want you to mistake interesting curiosity for
- 14:23somebody who's ready to implement.
- 14:25And I want you to shift to effectiveness, not noise,
- 14:29because busy work is not enough. If you want to be intentional
- 14:34about building a structure that leads to consistent clients,
- 14:37steady income, and sustainable growth, then you need to
- 14:40architect it. And if you're thinking, I get
- 14:44it, this conceptually makes sense to me, but you don't know
- 14:47how to start, just listen to that refrain for a second.
- 14:53I don't know how to start. So saying to yourself, I'm not
- 14:58prepared to invest because I am not ready yet to build.
- 15:02This is crazy and the missed opportunity truthfully, and
- 15:08there are systems and structures we can offer you.
- 15:11Simply go to christinecampbellrappin.com and
- 15:14go look at ways we work. Be curious and have a
- 15:18conversation, but you cannot fix a lack of foundations with
- 15:22tools. You cannot skip those pieces of
- 15:25the foundations of planning, building, launching, and
- 15:28scaling, and tech that drives a result works really well when
- 15:36you have the foundations in place.
- 15:38So my friends, this is the invitation to choose.
- 15:42Choose the game you're playing, people often say.
- 15:47I have a bit of a frictional opinion on this, but I said I
- 15:52want a beautiful, boring business.
- 15:55I know that you've been taught to love the sizzle.
- 15:59If you want to sparkle and you want to do content creation and
- 16:02you want to do all the bells and whistles, that's a choice and
- 16:07there's a great time to leverage it.
- 16:11It's not from day one. It's not typically within the
- 16:14first three years. Can you do Sadoff?
- 16:17Yes. You will want to focus on being
- 16:20more effective and only when you have the foundations.
- 16:22Does it make sense for me, in my opinion, to spend a significant
- 16:26amount of money with this? Your best money spent is on
- 16:30foundations. Who are you looking for?
- 16:32What do they want? How will you invite them?
- 16:35How can you communicate with evidence that you are
- 16:38trustworthy, capable and credible?
- 16:42How do you see yourself as the must hire?
- 16:46And when you can do that, it unlocks the beautiful, boring
- 16:50bit of business high quality leads coming to it, the volume
- 16:56in which you're active more offers more yeses, more dream
- 17:02clients, and a life that you want.
- 17:06This isn't hyperbole, this isn't theory.
- 17:08We do it every single day for our clients.
