Speaker 3: We got plum coverage on the website. We'll have plenty

Speaker 3: of coverage coming up a little bit later on in
• 2:04
Speaker 3: this show and also on Metro News Midday later today. Also,
• 2:08
Speaker 3: we've been spending some time talking about the expanding real
• 2:11
Speaker 3: estate market in the area in the Kanawh Valley, specifically
• 2:15
Speaker 3: in Putnam County. Yesterday had a conversation with the folks
• 2:20
Speaker 3: at Meex Rentals and Leasing about some things that they've
• 2:23
Speaker 3: got going on. Of course, on Monday show we talked
• 2:25
Speaker 3: to more than teny for the Putnam County Development Authority
• 2:27
Speaker 3: about the four hundred and some new houses that are
• 2:30
Speaker 3: going to be going in the Hurricane area. Not to

• 2:52
Speaker 3: times a month. So let's welcome in our good friend,
• 2:54
Speaker 3: doctor Casey Sachs of Bridge Valley. Good morning, Welcome to
• 2:57
  Speaker 3: the show.
• 2:57
Speaker 5: Good morning, Dave. It's great to be with you today.
• 3:00
Speaker 3: Great to have you here. We're going to get caught
• 3:02
Speaker 3: up on some things going on at Bridge Valley. But
• 3:04
Speaker 3: before we do that, doctor Sachs, I thought I would
• 3:06
Speaker 3: give you an opportunity to say something about the passing
• 3:10
Speaker 3: of a Supreme Court justice. Tim Armstead.
• 3:12
Speaker 4: I know that family.
• 3:15
  Speaker 5: He's such a nice man.
• 3:16
Speaker 3: Yeah, go ahead, and just to tell us your recollections.
• 3:21
Speaker 5: He was such a nice man. The last time I
• 3:23
Speaker 5: saw him was at the Habitat for Humanity making a donation,
• 3:26
  Speaker 5: and it's just such a nice guy. It's really a
• 3:28
Speaker 5: loss for the community.
• 3:29
Speaker 3: It is, indeed. And I'm going to get into this
• 3:32
Speaker 3: a little bit later on in the show, but I
• 3:34
Speaker 3: will say this about Tim Armstead. Even people who may
• 3:37
Speaker 3: have been on different sides of the political aisle from him,
• 3:41
Speaker 3: never heard anybody say a bad word about him as
• 3:44
Speaker 3: a person, even his political quote unquote enemies. And I don't
• 3:46
Speaker 3: even like to use the term enemies, and let me
• 3:48
Speaker 3: just say people that have a different thought process than
• 3:51
Speaker 3: he did. I never heard anybody say anything bad about him.
• 3:54
Speaker 5: He took the time to work with one of my
• 3:57
Speaker 5: exchange students several years ago. She'll really be sad too.
• 4:00
Speaker 5: She lives in Germany now and he was so nice
• 4:03
Speaker 5: to her one year at the business summit and really
• 4:05
Speaker 5: took the time to talk to her about law, and
• 4:07
Speaker 5: she is an accountancy law now in Germany and it
• 4:10
Speaker 5: really made such a difference in her life.
• 4:12
Speaker 3: That's a great story. I mean, it really is. And
• 4:14
Speaker 3: again these stories continue to come in and we talk
• 4:17
Speaker 3: to elected officials and things of that nature. We're going
• 4:19
Speaker 3: to continue to do that. I know the guys are,
• 4:21
Speaker 3: they're actually at the business some of today, Wilson and Meadows.
• 4:24
Speaker 3: They'll talk about it down there, Amanda and I will
• 4:26
Speaker 3: talk about it on midday to day. But it's the
• 4:28
Speaker 3: stories like that about Tim Armstead, to be honest with you,
• 4:31
Speaker 3: doctor Sachs, that really touched me a little bit more.
• 4:34
Speaker 3: You know somebody that ninety nine point nine percent of
• 4:37
Speaker 3: the population doesn't even know, but he went out of
• 4:38
Speaker 3: his way to go help that person.
• 4:41
Speaker 5: Oh, it's such a loss for the community.
• 4:44
Speaker 3: It is indeed in the entire state of West Virginia.
• 4:46
Speaker 3: All right. So we talk about all the time Bridge
• 4:49
Speaker 3: Valley's relationship with area businesses, answering the call for what
• 4:53
Speaker 3: employers need and working with them, Doctor Sachs to provide
• 4:57
Speaker 3: the skill sets that they need to hire people. You're
• 5:00
Speaker 3: now in the insurance business, so to speak, we are.
• 5:03
Speaker 5: So our local insurance companies have said they needed a
• 5:07
Speaker 5: little bit of training, and so we've started ramping that
• 5:11
Speaker 5: up and we'll actually have the first property and Casualty
• 5:14
Speaker 5: insurance course. It's been at the request of local insurance
• 5:18
Speaker 5: agencies and apparently there's a licensure required and they need
• 5:22
Speaker 5: preparation for the state licensure exam. So on September ninth,
• 5:26
Speaker 5: we'll have our first cohort go through Property and Casualty
• 5:30
Speaker 5: insurance pre licensure. We're pretty excited about it.
• 5:34
Speaker 3: I'm going to say that sounds exciting. I'm not making
• 5:37
Speaker 3: fun of it. It's well, it's something that I get
• 5:40
Speaker 3: some really good friends in the insurance business. You're right,
• 5:42
Speaker 3: doctor Zax. It is something that is sorely needed.
• 5:45
Speaker 5: It really is. And actually we've I looked it up
• 5:48
Speaker 5: for you. Insurance sales agents. The employment for those are
• 5:53
Speaker 5: expected to grow six percent over the next few years,
• 5:55
Speaker 5: so that good growth area, not.
• 5:58
Speaker 3: Bad at all, not bad at all. And we'll give
• 5:59
Speaker 3: you as we close out the segment, as we always do,
• 6:01
Speaker 3: we'll give you the contact information, the website and whatever,
• 6:04
Speaker 3: so you can look up everything else going on at
• 6:06
Speaker 3: Bridge Value as well. I was reading the other day
• 6:09
Speaker 3: some information about the college is STAND Programain explain what
• 6:13
Speaker 3: that is and how it works. What is the STAND
• 6:15
Speaker 3: program and how does it work?
• 6:17
Speaker 5: So STAND is actually statewide. It stands for Skilled Trades Apprenticeships,
• 6:23
Speaker 5: non traditional degree. Okay, So STAND is an acronym, and
• 6:26
Speaker 5: it's to help people who have completed apprenticeships in any
• 6:29
Speaker 5: number of areas. You might be a plumber and now
• 6:32
Speaker 5: you're ready to complete a degree so that you can
• 6:35
Speaker 5: advance your career, and so STAND actually helps you do
• 6:37
Speaker 5: that by providing a state financial aid fund so that
• 6:41
Speaker 5: you can finish out probably about fifteen credit hours and
• 6:44
Speaker 5: complete that associate's degree.
• 6:46
Speaker 3: And that's a really exciting thing. As you said, this
• 6:49
Speaker 3: is a state wide program, not a college program, but
• 6:51
Speaker 3: you guys are involved in the thing's going on across
• 6:54
Speaker 3: the Mountain State and there's a lot of buzz about it.
• 6:56
Speaker 5: It's really great and it's at all of the community colleges.
• 7:00
Speaker 5: I really want to help promote people who have had
• 7:02
Speaker 5: those apprenticeships, who have done those registered programs. They're really
• 7:06
Speaker 5: great in the skilled trades, but they might be at
• 7:08
Speaker 5: the point where they're ready to be in management or
• 7:10
Speaker 5: to move up and sometimes you need a degree for that,
• 7:13
Speaker 5: so we're trying to make it easier.
• 7:14
Speaker 3: Talking to doctor Casey Sachs Abridge Valley, It's nine to
• 7:16
Speaker 3: fourteen to Dave Alan. Show one five eighty Live is
• 7:18
Speaker 3: Broadchoo part by Pinnacle Consultants. Their services involved developing comprehensive
• 7:23
Speaker 3: management plans to outline strategies for controlling and minimizing as
• 7:26
Speaker 3: best as exposure. Perfect for commercial property owners and managers.
• 7:29
Speaker 3: Visit Pinnacle Court dot net because what you don't know
• 7:32
Speaker 3: can hurt you. I want to talk a little bit
• 7:34
Speaker 3: about the role of community and technical colleges in the
• 7:37
Speaker 3: state of West Virginia. You and I have talked to
• 7:38
Speaker 3: We've been having you on the show for the last
• 7:40
Speaker 3: couple of years, pretty much ever since you arrived here,
• 7:42
Speaker 3: and we know we talk a lot about now, especially
• 7:45
Speaker 3: at this time of year. You know, the kids are
• 7:47
Speaker 3: heading back to public school, most of them not if
• 7:49
Speaker 3: they haven't already, they will soon. Certainly they have here
• 7:51
Speaker 3: in the Kanaw Valley and students heading back to the
• 7:54
Speaker 3: to the larger universities. But there is such a role,
• 7:58
Speaker 3: doctor Sachs, for community and technical college, trade schools, whatever
• 8:01
Speaker 3: you want to call them. In our society right now.
• 8:04
Speaker 5: There really is? There really is. I actually I was
• 8:07
Speaker 5: at a rotary meeting this week and I had a
• 8:09
Speaker 5: mom tell me how much money we saved her family
• 8:12
Speaker 5: and how great this was, and that her daughter then
• 8:14
Speaker 5: transferred to Marshall and that she just appreciated what Bridge
• 8:17
Speaker 5: Value was able to do for their family. And that
• 8:20
Speaker 5: kind of story, when people stop me in the community,
• 8:22
Speaker 5: makes me so happy, because that's what we're trying to do.
• 8:25
Speaker 5: We're trying to make college a lot more accessible for people.
• 8:28
Speaker 3: And you know, back years ago, well over thirty years ago,
• 8:32
Speaker 3: I guess now, when I was in college, you know,
• 8:35
Speaker 3: it was actually, you know, probably closer to forty, but
• 8:37
Speaker 3: who's counting. There was if you went to a community college,
• 8:41
Speaker 3: which I did. I went to Southern West Virginia Community
• 8:44
Speaker 3: Technical College and transferred to Marshall. That's what you did.
• 8:47
Speaker 3: You went to a community college, went to a trade
• 8:49
Speaker 3: school whatever you want to call it, and then you
• 8:50
Speaker 3: transferred to somewhere else. And that's all well and good,
• 8:53
Speaker 3: and your students still do that. However, you got a
• 8:55
Speaker 3: lot of programs that are available that people don't have
• 8:57
Speaker 3: to go anywhere else. That's their style.
• 9:00
Speaker 5: It's true, and we actually really pride ourselves in that.
• 9:03
Speaker 5: It's something that's been very fun for us to think through,
• 9:07
Speaker 5: what's the labor market need and what are businesses really
• 9:09
Speaker 5: saying they need in the area, and how do we
• 9:11
Speaker 5: help meet that with folks who can earn an associate's degree.
• 9:15
Speaker 5: So when you think about things like a registered nurse,
• 9:18
  Speaker 5: that's a two year URN program and it's a really
• 9:21
Speaker 5: great job in our community.
• 9:23
Speaker 3: And we all know about the need for nurses, I
• 9:24
Speaker 3: mean not only here in West Virginia after saxphon nationwide.
• 9:27
  Speaker 5: Absolutely, And I.
• 9:29
Speaker 3: Understand you wanted to spotlight one particular person. You gave
• 9:33
Speaker 3: me a name via text to Caitlin Rains and the
• 9:35
Speaker 3: Harmonies Senior Service of Scholarship talk about that.
• 9:38
Speaker 5: We're really proud of Caitlin. So Harmony Senior Services has
• 9:41
Speaker 5: made a great commitment to our students. They have donated
• 9:45
Speaker 5: one hundred thousand dollars so that every year ten students
• 9:49
Speaker 5: get a thousand dollars scholarship to really help support them.
• 9:53
Speaker 5: And now for Caitlin, that's meant that she can focus
• 9:55
Speaker 5: on her studies and prepare for her INCLEX the ENCLEXES,
• 9:59
Speaker 5: the state license examine nursing instead of having to juggle
• 10:03
Speaker 5: full time school and full time work. She's talked about
• 10:06
Speaker 5: how grateful she is for Harmony Senior Services support and
• 10:09
Speaker 5: it's just one of those really feel good stories in
• 10:12
  Speaker 5: the community.
• 10:13
Speaker 3: We need more feel good stories for sure. Talking to
• 10:15
Speaker 3: doctor Casey Sackson Bridge Valley before we let you go,
• 10:18
Speaker 3: what else is going on up there on the hill?
• 10:20
Speaker 5: Gosh, Well, school just started, so we've been really busy
• 10:24
Speaker 5: with back to school and trying to welcome students both
• 10:27
Speaker 5: in South Charleston, Anna and Montgomery, and we're just excited.
• 10:30
Speaker 5: Enrollment's been up every year. We're up another five percent
• 10:33
Speaker 5: this year, and we're really proud of folks who have
• 10:35
Speaker 5: decided to change their lives and come back.
• 10:38
Speaker 3: We love to hear them that the enrollment's of Hey,
• 10:39
Speaker 3: doctor Sachs, it's always a pleasure to talk to you,
• 10:42
Speaker 3: and we'll talk again soon. Give us the information, give
• 10:44
Speaker 3: us the website. People can learn more about anything we
• 10:46
Speaker 3: talked about today or any of the fabulous things going
• 10:48
Speaker 3: on at Bridge Valley.
• 10:50
Speaker 5: It's all at Bridge Valley dot edu and doctor.
• 10:52
Speaker 3: Casey Sacks will talk again next month. Thanks a lot,
• 10:54
Speaker 3: Thank you, doc, doctor Casey Sacks of Bridge Valley it
• 10:58
Speaker 3: is nine eighteen. But again I love the stories when
• 11:01
Speaker 3: we talked to doctor Sachs about that, because again, years ago,
• 11:04
Speaker 3: it was always well, you're going to go to this
• 11:05
Speaker 3: particular college and then you're going to transfer somewhere else.
• 11:07
Speaker 3: And people still do that all the time, be it Marshall,
• 11:10
Speaker 3: WVU State, whatever that people still do that. However, there's
• 11:14
Speaker 3: a lot of programs available at these colleges that you
• 11:17
Speaker 3: ain't gotta go nowhere else. You just simply go there
• 11:20
Speaker 3: and get your degree and then go to work. And
• 11:22
Speaker 3: the relationships that Bridge Valley has got with these employers,
• 11:25
Speaker 3: we talk about what they've done with Toyota and these
• 11:27
  Speaker 3: other places. I mean, you're you're ready to go. It's
• 11:30
Speaker 3: just a matter sometimes of where do you want to work,
• 11:32
Speaker 3: what shift do you want to work? Because your job
• 11:33
Speaker 3: is waiting on you. And trust me, it hasn't always

  Speaker 3: the show.
• 14:17
Speaker 9: Good morning, Dave. How are you doing this morning?
• 14:19
Speaker 3: I am doing fine. Thanks for being here. And as
• 14:21
Speaker 3: I did with doctor Casey Sachson the last segment, Mayor,
• 14:24
Speaker 3: I want to give you a chance to talk a
• 14:25
Speaker 3: little bit about Supreme Court justice former Legislator Tim Armstead,
• 14:29
Speaker 3: who we lost yesterday.
• 14:31
Speaker 9: Well, I've only met Tim a couple of times, but
• 14:34
Speaker 9: everything when I met him he was so I want
• 14:37
Speaker 9: to say, humble up there for even the positions he had,
• 14:41
Speaker 9: you would have never known that the cloud he had
• 14:43
Speaker 9: and stuff in there. His demeanor was was very made
• 14:47
Speaker 9: everybody feel very welcome, even to the people didn't know
• 14:50
Speaker 9: him very well. So that's that goes a long ways
• 14:53
Speaker 9: with people. In a position like that.
• 14:55
Speaker 3: Yeah, I'm one. And again he was a he was
• 14:58
Speaker 3: a person that just everybody liked and everybody respected. And
• 15:01
Speaker 3: of course he had been sick, and still we knew
• 15:05
Speaker 3: he'd been sick. But it was shocking news when Jeff
• 15:07
Speaker 3: came downstairs yesterday and middle of Metro News midday and
• 15:10
Speaker 3: said that Tim Armstead had passed and he was sixty
• 15:12
Speaker 3: years old. He's had a wonderful wife and family and
• 15:16
Speaker 3: a whole host of friends. You're going to be hearing
• 15:18
Speaker 3: a whole lot more about the legacy of Tim Armstead
• 15:21
Speaker 3: over the next several days, for sure, Mayor. We spent
• 15:24
Speaker 3: some time on several shows talking about the incredible growth
• 15:27
Speaker 3: in Putnam County. Late last week came the announcement of
• 15:30
Speaker 3: two hundred plus homes of the hurricane area. We talked
• 15:33
Speaker 3: to Morgan Tenting from the development Authority about that that
• 15:35
Speaker 3: on yesterday's show. Similar things with thor meeks of meex
• 15:38
Speaker 3: rentals and leasing. But I know not to be outdone
• 15:41
Speaker 3: in the Land of the Generals. You got some exciting
• 15:43
Speaker 3: things going on there in Winfield too. Hey, Mayor, I
• 15:47
Speaker 3: need you do me a favor if you would. I
• 15:48
Speaker 3: don't know what you're listening to in the background, if
• 15:50
Speaker 3: you're listening to me or whatever, because I know you're
• 15:51
Speaker 3: my number one fan, but I'm gonna need you to
• 15:53
Speaker 3: turn it down a little bit. We get a little feedback.
• 15:56
Speaker 9: I don't have nothing playing, Dave, I got you completely
• 15:59
  Speaker 9: on me.
• 16:00
Speaker 3: Okay, something all right?
• 16:01
  Speaker 9: Maybe on area.
• 16:02
Speaker 3: I thought you were going to say, I don't have
• 16:04
Speaker 3: anything on I was gonna say no, mayor don't say that. No,
• 16:06
Speaker 3: do not say that. Well, go ahead and tell us
• 16:09
Speaker 3: about what's going on in Winfield.
• 16:11
Speaker 9: Well, we've we've got a brand new development starting whatever,
• 16:15
Speaker 9: being Duplexus. They have sixty one units that's three bedroom,
• 16:22
Speaker 9: fourteen hundred feet square feet and right there across from
• 16:25
Speaker 9: Dairy Freege I know, you know where Bell was at.
• 16:28
Speaker 9: Oh yeah, and that's you know, close to the high school.
• 16:32
Speaker 9: And we've had has some people complaining, well the traffic stuff. Yeah,
• 16:37
Speaker 9: it's it's going to call up there. But you know,
• 16:40
Speaker 9: you get sixty one places in there, you get sixty
• 16:43
Speaker 9: one you know, one hundred and twenty some people plus
• 16:46
Speaker 9: it's going to two cars. It'll call up there. But
• 16:49
Speaker 9: that's a great problem to have. It's an eight million
• 16:52
Speaker 9: dollar project and they do. They think us the foundation poured,
• 16:58
Speaker 9: they're still putting in utility. But it's uh uh. I'm
• 17:02
Speaker 9: hoping by the next spring he'll be able to rent those.
• 17:05
  Speaker 9: But that's a and he's a local guy, family guy.
• 17:08
Speaker 9: Right here. I think he's thirty years old and he's
• 17:12
Speaker 9: doing that. Great, great guy. And then down here on
• 17:16
Speaker 9: the other end of town, we got Jordan Place. They
• 17:18
Speaker 9: got thirty eight town homes. They're selling them from two
• 17:22
Speaker 9: fifty to almost five hundred thousand dollars. Yes, they someone
• 17:26
Speaker 9: talked or is anybody Aaron Hurricane will be able before
• 17:29
Speaker 9: of those places that are building, Yeah, because they're built.
• 17:32
Speaker 9: They're they're doing them over here, they have them, people's
• 17:37
Speaker 9: buying them waiting on the New Corps. Waited was waiting
• 17:41
Speaker 9: on three of them up there to get the CEO's on.
• 17:43
Speaker 9: So they move into them. And New Courts done the
• 17:47
Speaker 9: same thing over at three h four. They buy some
• 17:50
Speaker 9: of them and they just bring in their big shots.
• 17:53
Speaker 9: And now New Court has been great for when un
• 17:57
  Speaker 9: till the hurricane.
• 17:58
Speaker 3: Yeah, exactly right. And the thing about it is these
• 18:00
Speaker 3: developers mayor wouldn't be building these things just on a chance.
• 18:06
  Speaker 3: I mean, there's a there's a market for them, or
• 18:08
Speaker 3: they wouldn't be building them to begin with. I mean,
• 18:10
  Speaker 3: these aren't these guys aren't aren't are dummies. I mean
• 18:12
Speaker 3: they do their market research and they obviously have seen
• 18:15
Speaker 3: a need for this. That's why that's why they got
• 18:18
Speaker 3: the plans out and started building them.
• 18:20
Speaker 9: Yes, we got three other developers that's come into town
• 18:23
Speaker 9: and they're either building one development's fifteen homes, the other
• 18:27
Speaker 9: one is eighteen, and the other ones thirty or twenty
• 18:31
Speaker 9: some duplexus that they're going to sell. But none of
• 18:34
Speaker 9: them was you know, they haven't got started yet for
• 18:37
Speaker 9: one reason or another, and so maybe they're you know,
• 18:42
Speaker 9: let these other ones get ready, then there'll be next
• 18:45
Speaker 9: to sell. And that's a good problem to have up
• 18:48
Speaker 9: that our traffic and everybody knows. You know, if you
• 18:51
Speaker 9: don't come to Winfield at eight o'clock in the morning
• 18:53
Speaker 9: or three point thirty in the afternoon, you know, our
• 18:56
Speaker 9: schools has got everything packed in here, which is a
• 18:58
Speaker 9: good problem to have. But we'll grow it, and we'll
• 19:01
Speaker 9: grow in Winfield and Putnam County.
• 19:03
Speaker 3: Talking again with Mayor Randy Barrett of Winfield, the day
• 19:06
Speaker 3: Island showing five eighty live is brought to you party
• 19:07
Speaker 3: by a Hustan's Pizza. This month at your favorite Hussans,
• 19:10
Speaker 3: get a large at and inch pepperoni pizza at a
• 19:12
Speaker 3: big eight inch chocolate chip cookie for twenty three ninety nine.
• 19:15
Speaker 3: Dine in carry out or order delivery on your closest
• 19:17
Speaker 3: Hustons at Huston's Pizza dot com. And you know, let's
• 19:21
Speaker 3: talk about about the whole development of Putnam County because
• 19:23
Speaker 3: you're you know, you've been around a while, and you
• 19:26
Speaker 3: you know what what Putnam County was like in the
• 19:28
Speaker 3: let's say nineteen nineties when it really exploded. And then
• 19:32
Speaker 3: I will say that they had any struggles, but I
• 19:34
Speaker 3: mean it just kind of leveled off, you know, as
• 19:37
Speaker 3: to be expected, and now it's all coming back again.
• 19:40
Speaker 3: I mean from what I wasn't there in the nineteen nineties,
• 19:42
Speaker 3: but from what I've been told, this is like nineteen
• 19:45
Speaker 3: ninety five or whatever the year was. On steroids.
• 19:48
Speaker 9: Oh yeah, you assistant, the Valley Road is exploded. And
• 19:52
Speaker 9: then you know, I was here when they got to
• 19:55
Speaker 9: New thirty five up there, and Fever said, well that'll
• 19:58
Speaker 9: knock people from coming to Winfield. That red light. That's
• 20:01
Speaker 9: been the best thing to happen to Windfield because you
• 20:04
Speaker 9: really couldn't get here at certain times of the evening
• 20:07
Speaker 9: because traffic was bad. Now if you want to get
• 20:09
Speaker 9: to Windfield from Value you can. So we've grown. The
• 20:13
Speaker 9: whole county has grown so much. And I've been here
• 20:16
Speaker 9: a lot longer, been the nineties up there. I could
• 20:20
Speaker 9: remember my dad back in probably the set early seventies.
• 20:25
Speaker 9: I think the Valley Park where the Hurricane City Park,
• 20:28
Speaker 9: that whole place, I think it was up to sell
• 20:30
Speaker 9: up for like sixteen thousand dollars. Can you imagine what investment?
• 20:34
Speaker 3: But that was a lot of money back sure, yeah, but.
• 20:37
Speaker 9: Been developed and you know, I got to give them
• 20:39
Speaker 9: a soapbox here a minute. We got a we got
• 20:42
Speaker 9: a guy at local contractor here building two businesses down,
• 20:46
Speaker 9: two open businesses down here in Windfield, and the dh
• 20:50
Speaker 9: is holding them up because of the red light. And
• 20:53
Speaker 9: they were the one the gomark was supposed to broke
• 20:56
Speaker 9: ground last month and now they're now d it's saying
• 21:00
Speaker 9: there's probably next spring before they even get the red
• 21:02
Speaker 9: light in. Uh. Some of our state agencies are killing
• 21:07
Speaker 9: growth in the state. I mean not just in Pumpman
• 21:10
Speaker 9: County and the red tape of some of these Some
• 21:14
Speaker 9: of these places really have to be looked at what
• 21:18
Speaker 9: they got to do. But this it's holding up development.
• 21:21
Speaker 9: We we need businesses. When you hold up development, sidewalks,
• 21:26
Speaker 9: red light's business, you're hurting the whole state up their
• 21:29
Speaker 9: So something has to be done with some of these
• 21:32
Speaker 9: agencies that hold up growth in state.
• 21:35
Speaker 3: Well, I mean, what what can be done? I mean,
• 21:38
Speaker 3: you know, you're I know you're very heavily involved in
• 21:39
Speaker 3: the municipal League and Mayor Goodwin uh here in Charleston
• 21:43
Speaker 3: is the new head of the Municipal League. And I'm
• 21:45
Speaker 3: sure you guys are always on, you know, on one
• 21:47
Speaker 3: page when it comes to these things. What what can
• 21:49
Speaker 3: be done? I mean, what what needs to do? Who
• 21:52
Speaker 3: does the who does the message need to get to Mayor?
• 21:55
Speaker 9: Well, I talked to one of my senators here, a
• 21:57
Speaker 9: local last year about it, and I said, well, here
• 22:01
Speaker 9: rumors that maybe y'all going to start the state is
• 22:04
Speaker 9: going to start contracting out engineers firms to do some
• 22:09
Speaker 9: of this prelim stuff in there to speed things up.
• 22:13
Speaker 9: And he said yeah, but he said so expensive. I said,
• 22:17
Speaker 9: time is money. I said, I got a grant that
• 22:20
Speaker 9: was almost worth a half million dollars ten years ago,
• 22:24
Speaker 9: and now that same thing is only worth two hundreds
• 22:28
Speaker 9: and dollars. So time is money, So pay me now,
• 22:31
Speaker 9: pay me later. Up there when you'll hold up projects
• 22:34
Speaker 9: for a decade and this one here for another year
• 22:37
Speaker 9: that they were ready to break ground last month. Time
• 22:39
Speaker 9: is money. Something has to be you know. The new
• 22:43
Speaker 9: Morse is working on PIA and stuff. I think next
• 22:46
Speaker 9: on the list is helping dh out to get out
• 22:50
Speaker 9: of its own way up and the whole state needs
• 22:54
Speaker 9: help on you know, roads and stuff in there, and
• 22:58
Speaker 9: DAH needs help. And sure all the answers, but maybe
• 23:01
Speaker 9: maybe starting off with Southern some engineering out to some
• 23:05
Speaker 9: of these. Uh. We got a lot of good engineers,
• 23:08
Speaker 9: engineering companies all up and down the state. I think
• 23:12
Speaker 9: the state needs to spend a little money to make
• 23:15
Speaker 9: a little money. Uh.
• 23:16
Speaker 3: Talking to Mayor Randy Bair to Winfield, I want to
• 23:18
Speaker 3: go back. You mentioned go Mart. Is this a new
• 23:20
Speaker 3: goal Mart that the area is getting.
• 23:23
Speaker 9: Yes, up there, if they don't back out, if they're
• 23:25
Speaker 9: going to have to wait another year. Yeah, they're at
• 23:27
Speaker 9: the red light. And there's another business which.
• 23:31
Speaker 3: For people don't familiar. Mayor which red light are we
• 23:34
  Speaker 3: talking about.
• 23:35
Speaker 9: Well, if you're not familiar Winfield, there's only one here.
• 23:39
Speaker 3: I knew that and you knew that, but but I
• 23:42
Speaker 3: wanted to have have you explained it to people that
• 23:43
Speaker 3: maybe don't know that.
• 23:44
Speaker 9: Where is it? It's a three way there at Windy's
• 23:47
Speaker 9: and Giavani's. Yes, and they are wanting to put a
• 23:50
Speaker 9: four waiting in there straight across you. If you've been
• 23:54
Speaker 9: to the Taco bit of a new Taco bell that
• 23:56
Speaker 9: it's very dangerous getting out there. If you come back
• 23:59
Speaker 9: to Winfield, take in the left, but so they're gonna
• 24:01
Speaker 9: put a red light in there, take the guard around
• 24:04
Speaker 9: out you'd be straight into the Go Mark. It have
• 24:07
Speaker 9: its own little street there along the three businesses, and
• 24:11
Speaker 9: there's another business down there. It's going to go in
• 24:14
Speaker 9: there for Go Mark if they don't buck out because
• 24:17
Speaker 9: of the time. I mean, you know, businesses get a model.
• 24:21
Speaker 9: I'm ready to do this. No, I'm gonna go someplace else.
• 24:24
Speaker 9: I'm not waiting you and you ken't blaving them. And
• 24:26
Speaker 9: you know, those contractors have jump every hoop that they
• 24:30
Speaker 9: can jump to make this project happen. And now there
• 24:34
Speaker 9: it's just and they're wanting a bunch of money for
• 24:37
Speaker 9: them to put the red light into. I just I
• 24:39
Speaker 9: don't understand it all, but it's I get aggravated when
• 24:43
Speaker 9: you're holding the progress.
• 24:44
Speaker 3: Well, if anybody can get it done to cut through
• 24:46
Speaker 3: the red tape, it'd be Mayor Barrett of Winfield. What's
• 24:50
Speaker 3: your big selling point for the area. This is a
• 24:52
Speaker 3: question I asked when I and you were on the
• 24:54
Speaker 3: Mayor Monday segment on Metro News Midday a month or
• 24:56
Speaker 3: so ago. But one of the things I always ask
• 24:58
Speaker 3: every mayor is is your big selling point for your town?
• 25:02
Speaker 3: I mean, people are listening to us right now here
• 25:04
Speaker 3: in the Canal Valley and you know, maybe they're not
• 25:07
Speaker 3: happy with the area that they live in, or whatever
• 25:09
Speaker 3: the case. Maybe what is your big selling point for Winfield?
• 25:12
Speaker 3: When you're trying to get people to move in.
• 25:15
Speaker 9: It's hard not to start with the schools up there.
• 25:18
Speaker 9: I mean, we've got three schools up here that are
• 25:20
Speaker 9: top notch in the state. But then it's the safety
• 25:24
Speaker 9: of our little community here and we got you know,
• 25:27
Speaker 9: we do have the city police, we got state police
• 25:30
Speaker 9: up on the hen we've got counties. We're very very safe,
• 25:34
Speaker 9: and the amount of law enforcement actually live in this
• 25:37
Speaker 9: town because they've dealt with that all day and they
• 25:41
Speaker 9: know if they come here they can relax and they
• 25:43
Speaker 9: can enjoy their evenings. So they've done that. We are
• 25:46
Speaker 9: a very safe community. We all have our problems up
• 25:49
Speaker 9: in there, but Winfield is a safe little bedroom. We
• 25:52
Speaker 9: always need some more things, and I wish we could
• 25:55
Speaker 9: get more things up there, but we're safe. And our
• 25:58
Speaker 9: schools second. And that's why all these new cool people
• 26:02
Speaker 9: are coming this way. Because these young people. I want
• 26:05
Speaker 9: to put my kids in a good school, and that's
• 26:08
Speaker 9: why they're coming to here. Calls the schools, and then
• 26:10
Speaker 9: their parents or they come because they want to be
• 26:13
Speaker 9: with their grandkids. And I see it every day.
• 26:16
Speaker 3: What are we going to do with that? The former
• 26:18
Speaker 3: location of Fruth there in the little in the little
• 26:20
  Speaker 3: plaza there, man.
• 26:23
Speaker 9: The former As far as I know, the Fruth is
• 26:26
  Speaker 9: still open there.
• 26:27
Speaker 3: I thought they were leaving, Okay, I lend Fruth. I apologize.
• 26:31
Speaker 3: I thought I had heard that they were. Okay, I
• 26:33
  Speaker 3: apologize for that.
• 26:34
Speaker 9: I am there. They did had a little doctor's office for.
• 26:39
Speaker 3: So okay, okay, okay, okay, okay, I stand, I stand corrected.
• 26:43
Speaker 3: Then all right, I want to give you an opportunity
• 26:46
Speaker 3: to plug your upcoming Putnam County homecoming that's coming up
• 26:49
Speaker 3: here real soon. Talk about it.
• 26:50
Speaker 9: Yes, the thirteenth or fourteenth up there. I've been called
• 26:55
Speaker 9: doh to get signs to let them know, you know,
• 26:59
Speaker 9: here is a call controversy. When you close up. We've
• 27:01
Speaker 9: got to pray from one thirty to three up close,
• 27:04
Speaker 9: eight seventeen down and anybody can sign up right up
• 27:08
Speaker 9: to the right up to the event. On Sunday they
• 27:12
Speaker 9: will be crowning the queens Sunday four four thirty. Of
• 27:17
Speaker 9: all four schools in the county, we got bands playing
• 27:21
Speaker 9: Saturday afternoon. Saturday night church service has grown unbelievable in
• 27:29
Speaker 9: the Sunday mornings, three or four churches together, and that
• 27:33
Speaker 9: is really a up there. They've brought some pastors in
• 27:36
Speaker 9: or all three, three or four of the pastors local
• 27:39
  Speaker 9: will preach. It's really a that's really that's really growing,
• 27:43
Speaker 9: and that's really a good message there on Sunday morning.
• 27:45
Speaker 9: All right, it's growing. It'll never be the ten thousand
• 27:48
Speaker 9: people it used to be or five thousand people.
• 27:50
Speaker 3: Well, if you tube up like you are now, it's
• 27:51
Speaker 3: going to be mayor I mean Let's don't be too pessimistic.
• 27:54
Speaker 3: If you keep moving all these people into Putnam County
• 27:56
Speaker 3: and not only Hurrican what you talked about Winfield, it
• 27:59
Speaker 3: will there because you're well on your way, my friend.
• 28:02
Speaker 9: Well, it's it's not for the lack of trime. We
• 28:05
Speaker 9: do work at it, all right.
• 28:07
Speaker 3: Mayor Barrett. We'll talk against soon, buddy, Thanks a lot,
• 28:09
Speaker 3: and keep doing good things over there. Thank you, all right,

Speaker 3: Dave Jacqueline and the crew with the results from around
• 32:20
Speaker 3: the state of West Virginia on game night. And then
• 32:24
Speaker 3: of course on Saturday we get ready for football. We

Speaker 3: got WVU mouth Andeers, the return of Rich Rod as

Speaker 3: they take on Robert Morris and my alma mater, the
• 32:34
Speaker 3: Marshall Thundering Herd heading down to the hedges at Sandford
• 32:37
Speaker 3: to take on the University of Georgia Bulldog. Somebody asked
• 32:42
Speaker 3: me the other day because they know I'm a huge
• 32:44
Speaker 3: Georgia Bulldog fan and have been ever since I was
• 32:46
Speaker 3: a kid. I was born in Georgia, really no family
• 32:49
Speaker 3: ties to that area other than the fact that my
• 32:51
Speaker 3: father was stationed in the military there. But I became
• 32:54
Speaker 3: a herschel Walker fan back when he was running wild
• 32:56
Speaker 3: over everybody in that nineteen eighty season, and I followed
• 32:59
Speaker 3: the Georgia Bulldog ever since. And I got I got
• 33:01
Speaker 3: more Georgia Bulldog merchandise than anybody in West Virginia does.
• 33:04
Speaker 3: I can tell you that. And people ask me all
• 33:06
Speaker 3: the time, who are you cheering for? Well, it's got
• 33:10
Speaker 3: to be the Herd. I know they're thirty nine point
• 33:11
Speaker 3: underdogs in this game, but I'm a Marshall guy, so
• 33:16
Speaker 3: let's go Hurd. Good luck to all the area teams, says.
• 33:18
Speaker 3: High school football is back, and college football is back,
• 33:22
Speaker 3: and next week the pros we'll come back. And my
• 33:24
Speaker 3: Dallas Cowboys will begin their run to the Super Bowl
• 33:28
Speaker 3: next Thursday night as they'll take on the Philadelpha Eagles
• 33:32
Speaker 3: of finning Super Bowl champions. Sorry to my good friend
• 33:34
Speaker 3: Jared Page, but the Cowboys are winning this game. Just
• 33:36
Speaker 3: telling you that, Dex says Dave, I finally have to
• 33:41
Speaker 3: admit that when Trump says he's going to do something,
• 33:44
Speaker 3: he does it, example, cleaning up the streets of DC.
• 33:47
Speaker 3: I'm reading stories and seeing pictures of guardsmen dressed in
• 33:50
Speaker 3: their camo with high visibility orange vesta on picking up
• 33:54
Speaker 3: trash around d C. Trump is a man of his word,
• 33:57
Speaker 3: promises made promises, says a texture. Let me see here
• 34:08
Speaker 3: some other texts to get to here. Okay, here it is.
• 34:11
Speaker 3: Putnam County says the texture is a great place to live.
• 34:13
Speaker 3: We just need roundabouts. Roundabouts will solve stop traffic caused
• 34:17
Speaker 3: by stoplights. Texture. I don't disagree, but I mean in
• 34:23
Speaker 3: West Virginia, and I'm critical of my home states. Sometimes
• 34:28
Speaker 3: we can't navigate a three and four a way stop. Okay,
• 34:31
Speaker 3: we're not there yet. On roundabouts, I'm one hundred percent
• 34:34
Speaker 3: for them that it takes a little getting used to. People
• 34:36
Speaker 3: heard me talk about my trip I made a couple
• 34:38
Speaker 3: of weeks ago down to Georgia and the town that
• 34:41
Speaker 3: we were in, it was all roundabouts everywhere you went
• 34:44
Speaker 3: on Saint Simon's It's all about the roundabouts. But I
• 34:47
Speaker 3: don't think we're there yet in West Virginia. I hope,
• 34:49
Speaker 3: I hope we get there at some point, but we've
• 34:51
Speaker 3: got to navigate three and four way stops first. So
• 34:54
Speaker 3: more of the death of Tim Armstead. We learned about
• 34:58
Speaker 3: his passing yes Da at the age of sixty, and
• 35:01
Speaker 3: the tributes are pooring as you makes back now, Brad
• 35:04
Speaker 3: Mickaelhonney has the lead story about at wv metro news
• 35:06
Speaker 3: dot com, and you hear more about it later today.
• 35:10
Speaker 3: During Metro News Midday. Of course, the talk Line boys
• 35:12
Speaker 3: are live at the Greenbrier for the business Summit. They'll
• 35:14
Speaker 3: be talking about it as well. And I will say
• 35:17
Speaker 3: this about Tim Armstead. I knew him he was on
• 35:20
Speaker 3: the show. I can't say that I knew him well,
• 35:25
Speaker 3: but I was around him some during my time in
• 35:28
Speaker 3: state government and Republican politics. He was quite simply a
• 35:31
Speaker 3: good man and a man. As I mentioned earlier, that
• 35:34
Speaker 3: you would be hard pressed to find anyone who would
• 35:36
Speaker 3: say anything bad about which is a rarity in the
• 35:40
Speaker 3: world of politics, particularly with the landscape of the political
• 35:44
Speaker 3: scene the last couple of years. Even people who may
• 35:47
Speaker 3: not have agreed with him respected him mainly because of
• 35:51
Speaker 3: the way he treated people. He was simply he was
• 35:55
Speaker 3: just simply a decent human being. He was a godly man,
• 35:57
Speaker 3: very family oriented man, built a life of public service.
• 36:01
Speaker 3: But here's the thing about Tim. Marms said, Tim Martinstead
• 36:03
Speaker 3: would have been that guy if he were working at
• 36:05
Speaker 3: the auto parts store, or if he were making you
• 36:07
Speaker 3: a burger at Wendy's. He just was that good of
• 36:10
Speaker 3: a guy. And Brad has an end depth story at
• 36:13
Speaker 3: the website. Again, more coverage on talk Line, which is
• 36:15
Speaker 3: live from the Greenbrier and later today with Amanda and
• 36:18
Speaker 3: Me on Metro News Midday. Tex says, so the Western
• 36:23
Speaker 3: Indian National Guard is picking up trash around DC. Let's
• 36:26
Speaker 3: not forget to mention the genius idea of putting a
• 36:28
Speaker 3: high visibility orange vest over top of camouflage brilliant. But
• 36:33
Speaker 3: more importantly, Governor Patrick Morrissey, wouldn't the West r Indian
• 36:36
Speaker 3: National Guard be better used to pick up trash around West
• 36:39
Speaker 3: Virginia instead of the sea. Let me see, I'm trying
• 36:46
Speaker 3: to get an answer to some question. Okay, we're back
• 36:48
Speaker 3: to the roundabouts again. Morgantown has roundabouts and sold over
• 36:53
Speaker 3: the place, all over the place in newer areas, they're
• 36:56
Speaker 3: not an issue at all. Well again, I'm not against
• 36:58
Speaker 3: roundabouts at all. I am not against them. I'm just
• 37:02
Speaker 3: saying I don't know the West Virginia is there yet.
• 37:04
Speaker 3: Story broke late last night that a magistrate here in
• 37:07
Speaker 3: Kanawha County has resigned John Leoni. There are allegations, important
• 37:11
Speaker 3: to remember, allegations only at this time, of possible sexual harassment.
• 37:17
Speaker 3: For a matt Leoni was contacted by media members here
• 37:21
Speaker 3: in Charleston offered no comment, but said he may release
• 37:24
Speaker 3: his statement after speaking to his legal counsel. And that's
• 37:26
Speaker 3: according to when this news. Leslie Rubin will have more
• 37:28
Speaker 3: as the information becomes available. Two things that really don't
• 37:34
Speaker 3: mean a whole lot in the big picture of things,
• 37:36
Speaker 3: but had everyone talking yesterday. Uncle Herschel is back at
• 37:41
Speaker 3: Cracker Bear. Our long national nightmare is over. The old
• 37:46
Speaker 3: Cracker Barrel logo is back, according to the company. I'll
• 37:50
Speaker 3: pause for a dramatic yawn here for a moment. I mean,
• 37:54
Speaker 3: you talk about first world problems, man, this was first
• 37:57
Speaker 3: world problems. When we're arguing over the logo of a
• 38:00
Speaker 3: fast food establishment, and it is fast food. The fact
• 38:05
Speaker 3: that people got so upset over a logo change absolutely
• 38:08
Speaker 3: baffles me. And I've eaten at Cracker Barrel. As far
• 38:10
Speaker 3: as chains go, it's okay. I prefer to spend my
• 38:14
Speaker 3: money on local places, but that's just me. They do
• 38:17
Speaker 3: have good steak and eggs, and their chicken livers aren't bad.
• 38:21
Speaker 3: But when I first saw and read about this logo change,
• 38:24
Speaker 3: I thought, well, that's kind of a plain looking logo
• 38:27
Speaker 3: and I moved on. I didn't see it as some
• 38:30
Speaker 3: sort of a major corporate left wing plot to undermined
• 38:34
Speaker 3: the very fabric of society. I saw it as a
• 38:37
Speaker 3: private company changing their logo, nothing more and nothing less.
• 38:41
Speaker 3: But you can sleep better knowing now that it was
• 38:44
Speaker 3: a victory over wokeism or whatever. Uncle Herschel, the character
• 38:49
Speaker 3: in the logo, is back. In the meantime, more people
• 38:52
Speaker 3: were talking about cracker Barrel over the last couple of
• 38:54
Speaker 3: days than had talked about Cracker Barrel in years. Advantage
• 38:58
Speaker 3: Cracker Barrel. They win for them. They got exactly what
• 39:02
Speaker 3: they wanted from this whole thing. And maybe maybe maybe
• 39:06
Speaker 3: I spent too much time in the wrestling business because
• 39:08
Speaker 3: I see everything as a work, as we call it
• 39:11
Speaker 3: in the business, including this. It was a work from
• 39:14
Speaker 3: the very beginning. But that's just me being old and
• 39:18
Speaker 3: cranking hating everything. So go enjoy your saw mill gravy
• 39:21
Speaker 3: or whatever it's called, and know that you were probably complicit.
• 39:25
Speaker 3: If you were one of the ones that took to
• 39:26
Speaker 3: social media or called your talk shit, you were probably
• 39:29
Speaker 3: very complicit in this. A new one to me, A
• 39:37
Speaker 3: more lago face, says the texture. These are not human faces.
• 39:41
Speaker 3: They are luxury meat masks meant to signal wealth and
• 39:44
Speaker 3: in group belonging people such as Laura Lumer Christy No
• 39:47
Speaker 3: Matt Gates can afford excellent surgeons and subtle cosmetic work.
• 39:51
Speaker 3: But unless they're all had boxed procedures, it seems they
• 39:54
Speaker 3: deliberately chose to look like AI generated characters. Spot On
• 39:57
Speaker 3: from The Guardian says a texture text says, Dave, are
• 40:01
Speaker 3: these new homes Putnam County likely to be bought by
• 40:04
Speaker 3: NEWCRE employees? Besides New Core, I'm having trouble finding business
• 40:07
Speaker 3: around the area that would pay enough to afford a
• 40:09
Speaker 3: three hundred thousand dollar home. Maybe you can help me
• 40:11
Speaker 3: out and name a few. Well, Toyota I think would
• 40:16
Speaker 3: probably be would probably be one c amc Vandelia Health,
• 40:23
Speaker 3: Martial Health Network just selling it out there. There's one
• 40:28
Speaker 3: hundred three hundred thousand dollars in today's economy is not
• 40:32
Speaker 3: a lot of money, and that's what homes are going for,
• 40:34
Speaker 3: and there's a whole lot of demand for them. If
• 40:36
Speaker 3: you think there's not a demand for three hundred thousand
• 40:38
Speaker 3: dollar homes, you got another thing coming because there's a
• 40:40
Speaker 3: waiting list for them. Can we make a list as
• 40:46
Speaker 3: a texture of things? West Virginia isn't there yet? On
• 40:49
Speaker 3: first two can be roundabouts and legal cannabis, says a texture. Yeah,
• 40:52
Speaker 3: I'm not getting into that argument. Waffle house is better
• 40:55
Speaker 3: than cracker barrel, says a texture. That's an Roundabouts are
• 41:01
Speaker 3: for commies, says a Texter. And of course you know
• 41:08
Speaker 3: the big story yesterday but also broke the news that
• 41:12
Speaker 3: crashed the Internet that Travis Kelcey and Taylor Swift are
• 41:19
Speaker 3: getting married. I know, I know you care about this
• 41:22
Speaker 3: about as much as I do. But it was a
• 41:24
Speaker 3: big story and it will be for some time. When
• 41:27
Speaker 3: the announcement came out, it got fourteen million likes on
• 41:31
Speaker 3: Instagram in one hour. One hour, fourteen million likes, and
• 41:37
Speaker 3: it crashed Instagram yesterday. And I've given my opinion on
• 41:44
Speaker 3: Taylor Swift Travis Kelsey in the past. I'm not a
• 41:47
Speaker 3: I'm fifty five years older. I will be, you know,
• 41:49
Speaker 3: next month. I would think if I'm a fifty five
• 41:53
Speaker 3: year old guy and I'm a fan of Taylor Swift,
• 41:56
Speaker 3: that there's you know, I probably got other issues. I
• 41:59
  Speaker 3: don't care. I don't care who marys who. I don't care.
• 42:02
Speaker 3: I respect Taylor Swift. I will say this because she
• 42:07
Speaker 3: writes her own music, She produces her own music, she
• 42:09
Speaker 3: owns her own music. She's a billionaire, She's the biggest
• 42:11
Speaker 3: star on the planet, has been for over twenty years.
• 42:14
Speaker 3: Name me another star that's been a star, a constant
• 42:17
Speaker 3: star for twenty to twenty five years, as Taylor Swift
• 42:20
Speaker 3: has been. There aren't any I can tell you right now.
• 42:23
  Speaker 3: There aren'n anny not my thing. I can't name a
• 42:25
Speaker 3: single song that she does.
• 42:27
  Speaker 12: I don't.
• 42:28
Speaker 3: As Daniel Woods, our sports guy and newsgal, and I
• 42:30
Speaker 3: were talking yesterday, people that are all upset about them
• 42:32
Speaker 3: cutting to scenes of Taylor Swift at NFL games. Okay,
• 42:37
Speaker 3: number one, that's brilliant on behalf of the NFL, because
• 42:39
Speaker 3: you've now got a lot of a different audience watching
• 42:41
Speaker 3: the games just to see Taylor Swift. And if you
• 42:43
Speaker 3: don't show Taylor Swift slurping all over Travis Kelsey, what
• 42:47
Speaker 3: are you gonna show some fat guy drinking bush light
• 42:49
Speaker 3: with his face painting cheering on his team. So yeah,
• 42:52
Speaker 3: more power to him. I don't care, but a lot
• 42:55
Speaker 3: of people do. Uh, Dave says a friend or Dave
• 43:02
Speaker 3: says a Texter. A friend and I were discussing why
• 43:05
Speaker 3: we have Second Amendment and the reason is so we
• 43:07
Speaker 3: can have a regulated militia for defense against a tyranny government.
• 43:12
Speaker 3: So where are these gun owners and militias When Fed's
• 43:15
Speaker 3: put military on our streets, You're about to lose it
• 43:18
Speaker 3: all according to and also freedom, says a text. I
• 43:23
Speaker 3: had a little hard time making that out. Why do
• 43:26
Speaker 3: you think West Virginia's are so stupid? Says the texture.
• 43:28
Speaker 3: I don't think West Virginia's are stupid by any stretch
• 43:30
Speaker 3: of the imagination. I just think we're a little bit
• 43:32
Speaker 3: slow to change, myself included. I don't think that equates
• 43:36
Speaker 3: to stupidity. I just think that we don't like change

Speaker 3: says Cracker Barrel hasn't served chicken livers in years. That
• 46:52
Speaker 3: goes to show you how much I know about chain restaurants.
• 46:55
Speaker 3: With all due respect, I can remember eating chicken livers
• 46:58
Speaker 3: or Cracker Barrel at one point.
• 47:00
  Speaker 9: Uh.
• 47:00
  Speaker 3: But you know I I don't. I don't. I don't.
• 47:04
Speaker 3: It's nothing against Cracker Barrel, They're fine. I just would
• 47:07
Speaker 3: rather support local businesses. Local, local, you know, the ones
• 47:12
Speaker 3: that actually donate things back to the community. Now, I'm
• 47:14
Speaker 3: gonna get all the hate from all the cracker barrel
• 47:16
Speaker 3: people saying, well, they give this and they get it.
• 47:17
Speaker 3: I'm sure they do. But at the end of the day,
• 47:20
Speaker 3: I dis like to support local, and I do love
• 47:22
Speaker 3: good chicken livers. By the way, Tex says, the addition
• 47:25
Speaker 3: of these homes Putnam County, especially the single story models,
• 47:28
Speaker 3: will help ease the shorties of options for residents and
• 47:30
Speaker 3: larger homes who are ready to downsize. In turn, this
• 47:33
Speaker 3: creates opportunities for growing families to move into those existing homes.
• 47:38
Speaker 3: It's a texture good good point there, Tex says. Stoplights
• 47:43
Speaker 3: or antire freedom. They force people to stop. Americans don't
• 47:46
Speaker 3: like to be forced to do anything. Replace the stoplights
• 47:48
Speaker 3: with roundabouts. Bring freedom to Puttnham County. No more forced
• 47:52
Speaker 3: stopping freedom. And to be fair, says a texture. You
• 47:55
Speaker 3: did say West Virginians can't even handle a three to
• 47:58
Speaker 3: four way stop that implies we're stupid. Then put me
• 48:00
Speaker 3: in there as one of the stupid West Virginians. Okay,
• 48:03
Speaker 3: put me in there because I sometimes if I'm traveling,
• 48:05
Speaker 3: my wife have to look over at my wife and go, Okay,
• 48:07
Speaker 3: this is in their turn of mind, so put me
• 48:09
Speaker 3: in there as well. Another thing I wanted to quickly
• 48:13
Speaker 3: address here as we close out the show, and this
• 48:14
Speaker 3: may be a little inside baseball, but just hear me
• 48:17
Speaker 3: out on this. Yesterday there was a big day of news.
• 48:21
Speaker 3: I mean, Justice Armstead dying coal mining death tragically in
• 48:24
Speaker 3: Boone County. At a Knaw County mattert last night that
• 48:30
Speaker 3: resigned Travis and Taylor getting engaged, so on and so forth.
• 48:35
Speaker 3: There was another story that broke yesterday, and what I'm
• 48:38
Speaker 3: gonna talk about is not so much about the incident,
• 48:42
Speaker 3: but about the coverage of said event. Aaron Parker has
• 48:45
Speaker 3: the story at wv metronews dot com. Former Marshall football
• 48:49
Speaker 3: star and longtime NFL player Chris Massey facing four misdemeanor
• 48:52
Speaker 3: charges after there was an altercation with his son's middle
• 48:55
Speaker 3: school assistant football coach. Now, this all happened in Winfield.
• 48:59
Speaker 3: The coach was an off duty Putnam County Sheriff's deputy. Now,
• 49:02
Speaker 3: Chris Massey lives in Winfield and is an assistant coach.
• 49:04
Speaker 3: I understand over there, and that's not so important in
• 49:09
Speaker 3: my mind as what happened, but more of the coverage
• 49:12
Speaker 3: and then the public reaction read that social media reaction
• 49:17
Speaker 3: to the event. And let me explain something to you.
• 49:19
Speaker 3: When you are in the news media, I don't do
• 49:22
Speaker 3: a lot of news. I report on news that other
• 49:23
Speaker 3: people gather, like Jeff Jenkins, Okay, you know, I just
• 49:27
Speaker 3: opine up on certain things. I help out a little
• 49:29
Speaker 3: bit as I can, but I'm not a newscaster. But
• 49:33
Speaker 3: when you're in the news media, we deal in official stuff,
• 49:36
Speaker 3: and when there is an incident like there was with
• 49:39
Speaker 3: this incident, we only report the facts or the official
• 49:44
Speaker 3: police report, which is what we did in this case,
• 49:47
Speaker 3: as did other news outlets in the Charleston market. Once
• 49:51
Speaker 3: the story was out and we reported it, as did
• 49:54
Speaker 3: every other media outlet, people started running to defend either
• 49:57
Speaker 3: Massy or the off duty deputy. Now let me stay
• 49:59
Speaker 3: for the record, I don't know either, gentlemen. I wasn't there,
• 50:02
Speaker 3: so I don't know what happened. What I do know
• 50:05
Speaker 3: is what the news media has to go on is
• 50:08
Speaker 3: the official police report. So when you take to social
• 50:12
Speaker 3: media and you trash us or other media outlets, you
• 50:15
Speaker 3: really need to be trashing the police because if you've
• 50:19
Speaker 3: got a problem with an official document that's not on
• 50:23
Speaker 3: Metro News or WCCHS, that's not on your local television station.
• 50:27
Speaker 3: That's the official police report. That's what we have to
• 50:30
Speaker 3: go on. We don't go and interview everybody and find
• 50:33
Speaker 3: out what happened. We have we get an official police report.
• 50:35
Speaker 3: And what we reported on was the official police report
• 50:39
Speaker 3: that came out of that day in Winfield. That's it,
• 50:41
Speaker 3: nothing more or nothing less. And everyone is innocential, proven guilty,
• 50:45
Speaker 3: and everybody will get their day in court. But my
• 50:47
Speaker 3: point is, don't shoot the messenger when these things come
• 50:50
Speaker 3: out and trash us or trash one of the television
• 50:53
Speaker 3: stations or the newspaper or whatever. We go on official
• 50:58
Speaker 3: things and that's the office police report. That's it, Oh Texas.
• 51:06
Speaker 3: Cracker Barrell learned the same lessons at bud Light Coke
• 51:08
Speaker 3: and Target learned if you change what is your customer,
• 51:10
Speaker 3: what your customers love about your product or establishment and
• 51:14
Speaker 3: to represent, just to bend the need to vancissistic intimidations
• 51:18
Speaker 3: of it's woke woosses, then they will make their voices
• 51:21
Speaker 3: heard with their wireless not opening for you anymore. Once again,
• 51:23
Speaker 3: go wo go Brooke. I think the entire thing was fake.
• 51:26
  Speaker 12: Sorry.
• 51:27
Speaker 3: A lot of people work at chain restaurants. Yes they do, Yes,
• 51:30
Speaker 3: they do, one hundred percent. Texas never had chicken livers
• 51:32
Speaker 3: or cracker Bear, but I've had some of the best
• 51:34
Speaker 3: chicken livers ever in Logan County. Absolutely dang, says the
• 51:39
Speaker 3: textra How nice it must be to think that three
• 51:41
Speaker 3: hundred thousand dollars home is cheap. People aren't leaving no
• 51:43
Speaker 3: mortgages or low mortgages on a big house for high
• 51:46
Speaker 3: mortgages on a small house. Doesn't make financial sense at all.
• 51:48
Speaker 3: They are going to do. They're doing exactly that. That's
• 51:53
Speaker 3: what they're doing. And three hundred thousand dollars homes in
• 51:56
Speaker 3: today's economy are not that expensive. I'm sorry, sorry, And
• 52:00
Speaker 3: I'm not going out and write to check for three
• 52:01
Speaker 3: hundred thousand dollars. Okay, I'm not exactly made of money either.
• 52:05
Speaker 3: I'm in the media, remember, all right, but it's not
• 52:07
Speaker 3: that expensive. Tex says. I think WVRC media does a
• 52:13
Speaker 3: fantastic job of bringing the info to the public. My
• 52:15
Speaker 3: most trusted source in West Virginia, according to a thankster.
• 52:21
