A memorial reef was unveiled off Topsail Island, honoring Jean and Fred Beasley—dedicated sea turtle advocates whose lives were devoted to marine conservation. Jean, who took over the rescue center after her daughter’s tragic death, passed in 2025 at 90; Fred died in 2010. Their ashes, combined with concrete by Eternal Reefs, now form an artificial reef—a lasting tribute that merges remembrance with ocean restoration.
