- 0:34Speaker 1: We are live from Pearl River Resort and Dancing Rabbit
- 0:39Speaker 1: Golf Club. Had a great night last night at Philip
- 0:44Speaker 1: M's Steakhouse. Thanks for hanging out with us this morning.
- 0:47Speaker 1: Hope you're doing well and we appreciate you making us

- 0:57Speaker 1: state of Mississippi. Thanks for streaming the show on the
- 1:00Speaker 1: Out of Bounds Radio app and the Zone one O
- 1:03Speaker 1: five to nine dot com. We will do a little
- 1:05Speaker 1: video later on YouTube, but we've well, let's see, we've
- 1:12Speaker 1: done about seven hours on YouTube, five of it with
- 1:15Speaker 1: Dave bar two this week. So it's been a big time,
- 1:19Speaker 1: big fun and we're excited about the show today to
- 1:24Speaker 1: continue to nerd out on college football. It is that
- 1:28Speaker 1: time and Jackson, let me know who's up today Laine
- 1:34Speaker 1: Kiffin's SEC media days in Tampa, Florida. I'd like to
- 1:38Speaker 1: know the schedule. I can't remember what you told me
- 1:41Speaker 1: and maybe who went yesterday because bar two and I
- 1:44Speaker 1: we're traveling and doing other things. We had a Whiskey
- 1:48Speaker 1: sixty one feast at Philip Ems last night, one of
- 1:51Speaker 1: those three hour dinners, we realized that we had never
- 1:54Speaker 1: had like just dinner us two together. I don't think
- 1:58Speaker 1: because usually when he comes in town, were we're pairing
- 2:02Speaker 1: Bar two with pe ones and clients and friends and
- 2:05Speaker 1: so on. And uh, whether the last time he was
- 2:09Speaker 1: in town or we took him to hear Pearl River
- 2:11Speaker 1: Resort or before that when we went up to Startbull
- 2:15Speaker 1: and the U in the Mississippi State football facility, then
- 2:19Speaker 1: we were always you know, having dinners and so on
- 2:21Speaker 1: with people. So we had a great time at Philip Ems.
- 2:24Speaker 1: They had a nice crowd and we shared a little
- 2:28Speaker 1: Elijah Craig bourbon and the official bourbon of the show
- 2:32Speaker 1: and just had a It was a good good night.
- 2:34Speaker 1: The rabbi was good. Uh Bar two had the saffron chowder,
- 2:39Speaker 1: and uh so we had to give him into the
- 2:42Speaker 1: saffron chowder space. And I'm kind of rubbing it into Jackson. Jackson,
- 2:49Speaker 1: you okay that I'm dropping that I had saffron chowder
- 2:52Speaker 1: and a rabbi last night at Philip Ems.
- 2:54Speaker 2: The bartwo gets the pass.
- 2:56Speaker 1: Okay, all right? Got we get the path with with
- 3:02Speaker 1: Bar two. Let me know when you've got the lineup
- 3:05Speaker 1: for today.
- 3:06Speaker 2: I'm ready to roll, baby, all right, So who do
- 3:09Speaker 2: we have on this wonderful wonderful will you can give
- 3:13Speaker 2: you Yesterday's real fast Yeah, that'd be great, all right, Tuesday,
- 3:16Speaker 2: July twenty.
- 3:16Speaker 1: One, This is yesterday, obviously.
- 3:19Speaker 3: Uh, you know.
- 3:20Speaker 2: Coach Kirby Smart kicked it off at nine five.
- 3:24Speaker 1: Okay.
- 3:25Speaker 2: Then we scrolled on down to you know, everyone's favorite,
- 3:28Speaker 2: Alex Golish Okay, Clark Lee followed him up, Clark Lee
- 3:34Speaker 2: Motors and Big Shane Beam.
- 3:38Speaker 1: Okay, that was smart and then kind of overshadowed everybody. Okay,
- 3:44Speaker 1: fair enough. What's today?
- 3:45Speaker 3: Now?
- 3:45Speaker 1: It's a day.
- 3:47Speaker 3: We got a good day today.
- 3:49Speaker 2: Kaitlin de Boor kicks us off at nine o five Snoozer,
- 3:52Speaker 2: John Summrall, Yes, I'm.
- 3:56Speaker 1: Okay, Pete Golden One Deer Camp Pete. But now he's
- 4:01Speaker 1: been a stylist. Uh I saw those pictures from the
- 4:05Speaker 1: Rebel Road Tour last week and and nobody uh is
- 4:09Speaker 1: into embraces or love optics like old miss. He has
- 4:14Speaker 1: been to a stylist. There looked like there was jell
- 4:16Speaker 1: Or Moose in his hair. He got a haircut, he
- 4:20Speaker 1: he is. I mean, he's trying to break out of
- 4:23Speaker 1: from deer Camp Pete to I don't know, man, he's
- 4:28Speaker 1: not He can't be Alice Beach Lane because Lane's already
- 4:31Speaker 1: got that. So I don't know what we're I'm gonna
- 4:35Speaker 1: have to figure out. Maybe Pete can ease into like
- 4:39Speaker 1: Gulf Shores Pete. I'm not sure I've got I've got
- 4:42Speaker 1: to think through that. But he it's it's kind of
- 4:45Speaker 1: a country club look, so it's uh, this is this
- 4:49Speaker 1: is a new Pete Golding. It sure looked like it.
- 4:51Speaker 1: I gotta I gotta go back and look at They
- 4:53Speaker 1: were somewhere Pascagoula in Dallas for the Rebel Road Tour
- 4:57Speaker 1: last week, out there pressing the flesh and get their
- 5:00Speaker 1: fans excited and cultivating relationships and making sure that you
- 5:04Speaker 1: tell people thank you for getting in the car on
- 5:09Speaker 1: a plane to go see you play, because they can
- 5:11Speaker 1: do other things like go to the beach, the farm,
- 5:14Speaker 1: the deer camp, or the outdoor patio six feet outside
- 5:19Speaker 1: their their home. But I'm telling you, it looked like
- 5:23Speaker 1: it looked like Pete went to a stylist. It looks great. Yeah,
- 5:27Speaker 1: did you see it? Did you see the picture.
- 5:29Speaker 2: Yes, and I mean even just the rebel road trip
- 5:31Speaker 2: that you know they have like a cover for that,
- 5:34Speaker 2: for their trip or whatnot that the you know, the
- 5:36Speaker 2: social media type.
- 5:37Speaker 1: Do a post, right and he looks great.
- 5:42Speaker 2: There aren't they're ain't no more frizzies, you know in
- 5:45Speaker 2: the hair, there's not gonna be any more you know,
- 5:47Speaker 2: random hairs sticking out.
- 5:49Speaker 1: Okay, so we we have we are in the process
- 5:53Speaker 1: of reshaping the image. Optics are everything. And well, how
- 5:59Speaker 1: much does he get paid? Six and a half million they?
- 6:03Speaker 1: I mean, I think about that. He went from defensive
- 6:06Speaker 1: coordinator to a six and a half million dollar head
- 6:10Speaker 1: coach in about twenty seconds once they got laying uh
- 6:15Speaker 1: settled and and knew that he was going to lsu
- 6:18Speaker 1: dressed about and then what they need you to do,
- 6:22Speaker 1: no doubt, no doubt. I'm I'm impressed. Yeah, so you
- 6:28Speaker 1: know he's more he's he's maybe sometimes you can do both.
- 6:33Speaker 1: Sometimes the versatility is deer camp Pete or country club Pete.
- 6:37Speaker 1: Now I'm thinking Southern country club. Yeah, you know, I
- 6:40Speaker 1: mean we're talking some great rule, you know, Southern country clubs.
- 6:46Speaker 1: Speaking up Bar twos with us day bar two on
- 6:49Speaker 1: the Out of Bound show ESPN one oh five nine
- 6:51Speaker 1: to the zone we have. We didn't go to Mom
- 6:53Speaker 1: and M's yesterday, like, we didn't get here till a
- 6:57Speaker 1: little bit later in the afternoon, so he hasn't had
- 7:00Speaker 1: the Black Eyed peas at Mom and M's, which is
- 7:02Speaker 1: the restaurant in Bar and the Golden Moon. But we
- 7:05Speaker 1: did have dinner at Philip Ems and uh, Bar two
- 7:08Speaker 1: had a I think he had a New York strip.
- 7:10Speaker 1: Didn't you get New York strip with the with the
- 7:12Speaker 1: saffron chowder.
- 7:13Speaker 3: That's it, the zaffron chowder and uh uh like you
- 7:17Speaker 3: said a little Elisa Craig. Yeah, you know, a couple
- 7:20Speaker 3: of Gin and Tonics. Yeah, it was yesterday.
- 7:24Speaker 1: Oh my god. When we so when we got here,
- 7:29Speaker 1: it was you know, you know, the hottest part of
- 7:31Speaker 1: the day gets into that whatever that is four o'clock
- 7:33Speaker 1: range or something, and good grief, it was hot.
- 7:38Speaker 3: Boa was sweating, yeah, you know, and then you go
- 7:41Speaker 3: into the ice cold.
- 7:42Speaker 1: Which was grain Philip Ems. Ah. Man, it felt great. Well,
- 7:47Speaker 1: the casino felt great to walk through to get to
- 7:50Speaker 1: Philip Ems. So we may have to take Bartuto a
- 7:55Speaker 1: stylist before he leaves. And get him some uh some geil.
- 7:58Speaker 1: At least he's got hair, some yel or moose in
- 8:01Speaker 1: his hair so that he can be ready for Elk
- 8:03Speaker 1: season and football season.
- 8:04Speaker 3: Give me some product. Pretty good him? Yeah, I don't know. So,
- 8:07Speaker 3: so Pete went away from the grizzly atoms man.
- 8:09Speaker 1: Yeah, so you know he had he kind of had
- 8:12Speaker 1: the real almost like a perm like a kind of.
- 8:15Speaker 2: What say, Jackson, it's definitely permi.
- 8:18Speaker 1: Yeah. So it's you know, and you could tell the
- 8:21Speaker 1: last couple of years when they would show him during
- 8:23Speaker 1: games and things, you know, he has hair coming out
- 8:25Speaker 1: of his visor. Yeah, yeah, and so he What I
- 8:30Speaker 1: said was, Pete looks like a guy who's been in
- 8:33Speaker 1: the woods at deer camp for three weeks, which there's
- 8:36Speaker 1: nothing wrong with. But I'm telling you he went to
- 8:39Speaker 1: some fancy, fancy stylists in Oxford and he's got gel
- 8:44Speaker 1: or something and he's got a totally new dude no more.
- 8:47Speaker 1: It was kind of a coming out, no no more
- 8:50Speaker 1: of that. So we're we're did.
- 8:54Speaker 2: You say, would you not feel better if Levy did this?
- 8:57Speaker 1: You know, I'm gonna try to refrain from what I
- 9:02Speaker 1: was gonna say right off the Babby, So you're gonna
- 9:05Speaker 1: have to give me a minute too.
- 9:06Speaker 3: I tell you what.
- 9:06Speaker 1: We gotta take a break and we've got a long
- 9:09Speaker 1: twenty four segment coming up, live from Dancing Rabbit Golf
- 9:12Speaker 1: Club on the property of Pearl River Resort. Book You're

- 11:27Speaker 1: Get it together? Bow Bounds, bo Bounds Day Bar two,
- 11:30Speaker 1: Jackson Meadows straight, funk is flying the plane, which is scary,
- 11:35Speaker 1: and we're with you here on a summer day going
- 11:40Speaker 1: into football season. The Goldenman casino text line, we want
- 11:44Speaker 1: to hear from you. We need a big out of
- 11:46Speaker 1: Bounds Nation role call on who's listening and who's your team?
- 11:50Speaker 1: All right, so let's go six oh one, eight eight, five, three, seven,
- 11:57Speaker 1: seven six, And why don't you give me three things
- 12:00Speaker 1: this morning for a couple of rounds of golf to
- 12:02Speaker 1: Dancing Rabbit Golf Club. We'll give away that and a
- 12:05Speaker 1: night at the Golden Moon Hotel which the casinos inside
- 12:09Speaker 1: of it. And so is the biggest style sports book
- 12:13Speaker 1: and this is how you enter and you could win.
- 12:15Speaker 1: Let's go with how are you listening on one oh
- 12:18Speaker 1: five nine the zone or streaming the show? Where are
- 12:22Speaker 1: you listening from? And uh, who's your team? And what
- 12:26Speaker 1: is your prediction this year for your team? All right,
- 12:29Speaker 1: so are you going twelve and oh or eleven in one?
- 12:31Speaker 1: Is basically the question in SEC country. I know there's
- 12:34Speaker 1: not really any other debate. You know, we may have
- 12:38Speaker 1: some ten and twos, but I know everybody's either going
- 12:41Speaker 1: twelve and oh or eleven and one, especially with now
- 12:44Speaker 1: a new nine game conference schedule and a mandated power
- 12:49Speaker 1: for non con bar two.
- 12:51Speaker 3: Good morning, How are you, budd It is absolutely gorgeous outside,
- 12:55Speaker 3: heats already coming.
- 12:56Speaker 1: Oh yeah, but.
- 12:58Speaker 3: No, actually don't you don't need to go twelve and
- 12:59Speaker 3: zero eleven than one anymore? In the SEC four and
- 13:02Speaker 3: eight with a strong strength of schedule should get to
- 13:05Speaker 3: in right. I love it, you know, it is strength
- 13:09Speaker 3: of schedule Apparently now makes you better as a team
- 13:12Speaker 3: without playing a game.
- 13:13Speaker 1: Well, Notre Dame's going to be proof that strength of
- 13:16Speaker 1: schedule doesn't matter.
- 13:17Speaker 3: How long have I been saying that, Right, it doesn't matter.
- 13:19Speaker 3: There's no correlation to the quality of the team, you know,
- 13:22Speaker 3: and I get it. You know, maybe it's a strength
- 13:23Speaker 3: of record thing. Stop saying strength to schedule. Okay, you know,
- 13:27Speaker 3: but what are you going to do when it's strength
- 13:34Speaker 3: of schedule that divides your Let's say we're down to
- 13:37Speaker 3: one one spot in the playoffs. Okay, okay, there's two
- 13:42Speaker 3: teams on the block, both ninety three, right, they're both SEC.
- 13:47Speaker 3: One's LSU, one's Missouri right, Right, it's we were talking
- 13:54Speaker 3: about the brands, right, which one's Greg want to go LSU? Right? Yeah,
- 14:00Speaker 3: but even that's okay, even if there's strength of schedules worse, right,
- 14:04Speaker 3: So you know, it's it's trying to have your cake
- 14:07Speaker 3: and eat it too. Sure picked the money, Sure we
- 14:09Speaker 3: went to nine, and now we want to change the
- 14:12Speaker 3: rules of ranking teams.
- 14:14Speaker 1: Well, I don't know if that's net. So this is
- 14:16Speaker 1: all played off of the media too, and and other
- 14:19Speaker 1: and other media from other conferences watching what happens this week.
- 14:22Speaker 1: I mean, I don't think that's been like the main
- 14:24Speaker 1: narrative in Tampa, you know, But I think he gets
- 14:27Speaker 1: asked questions and he's like, you know, look, he did
- 14:31Speaker 1: say we had a we had a conversation with the
- 14:35Speaker 1: college Football Playoff Committee and it was unsatisfactory, Right, now
- 14:38Speaker 1: do I know exactly what was I mean? You know,
- 14:42Speaker 1: I guess, hey, we're going to nine games plus we're
- 14:44Speaker 1: playing a P four team. What does that do to
- 14:48Speaker 1: do anything for y'all? I mean, we're gonna play ten
- 14:50Speaker 1: power four games?
- 14:51Speaker 3: Yeah, you know.
- 14:53Speaker 1: Or it looks like now, like you said yesterday, Greg
- 14:58Speaker 1: is telling his pre Greg Sankee for our listeners, SEC Commissioner,
- 15:04Speaker 1: it looks like Greg Sankei. He's not telling because he
- 15:08Speaker 1: answers to the presidents, but it looks like as they
- 15:11Speaker 1: collaborate and work together that Sankei and the SEC presidents
- 15:14Speaker 1: and SEC a ds have decided to opt out a
- 15:18Speaker 1: power for non con game.
- 15:19Speaker 3: Yeah. We've seen a couple of those, right, you know.
- 15:21Speaker 3: And and unfortunately, the the the less we have for
- 15:25Speaker 3: non conference, the more the conferences play themselves, the worse
- 15:28Speaker 3: our strength of schedule gets.
- 15:30Speaker 1: Right, But nobody no bases of comparison now, right, But
- 15:33Speaker 1: everybody the other three conferences are just as much to
- 15:36Speaker 1: blame too, because.
- 15:37Speaker 3: They're not they're not doing it either, right, right, And so.
- 15:41Speaker 1: I don't know what happens with Clemson. You know, here,
- 15:43Speaker 1: here's the deal. What happens? I mean, it's not going
- 15:46Speaker 1: to be the end of the world. But what happens
- 15:48Speaker 1: with Clemson South Carolina? Does anybody really care? Georgia Georgia Tech.
- 15:52Speaker 1: But that's another kind of staple non con that's always played, right. Florida,
- 15:58Speaker 1: Florida State, which hasn't had the sizzle the last fifteen years,
- 16:01Speaker 1: But man, when Bobby Bowden and Steve Spurrier were there,
- 16:05Speaker 1: it was an all out thrown In fact, it was
- 16:07Speaker 1: it was the game of the year a lot of years.
- 16:08Speaker 3: Yeah, that was you know, everybody looked forward to the
- 16:11Speaker 3: right you know, and I think we'd all agree is
- 16:13Speaker 3: when the big brands are better, if everything is is,
- 16:17Speaker 3: it's just more fun. Yes, right, we want to see
- 16:20Speaker 3: Catholics Convicts both in the top ten.
- 16:24Speaker 1: No question. Well, and you just made a good point
- 16:26Speaker 1: Miami being back for the first time in twenty five years. Right,
- 16:31Speaker 1: Miami had decided to drive their football program right off
- 16:35Speaker 1: the train tracks and Mario has done a good job
- 16:40Speaker 1: putting that back together. That's a great point. Miami is
- 16:43Speaker 1: one of those ones that jumped back up and decided
- 16:49Speaker 1: to become to get in the VIP party last year,
- 16:52Speaker 1: to be to be a lead again, right right to
- 16:55Speaker 1: prod good Lord, they were they had some players, right,
- 16:58Speaker 1: Mario is A. I don't know who's been. It's pressing
- 17:00Speaker 1: more this morning, Mario, Crystalbaul or Brent Vinnables. But it's
- 17:04Speaker 1: got to be one hell of a competition. They should
- 17:07Speaker 1: do that. That would make SEC media days interesting.
- 17:10Speaker 3: All right.
- 17:10Speaker 1: We want to get into where did national championship coaches
- 17:14Speaker 1: come from? With Bar two? But before that, how many
- 17:18Speaker 1: jobs actually pay you to see America? Total Transportation of
- 17:22Speaker 1: Mississippi does solo or team routes, nationwide or regional routes.
- 17:30Speaker 1: You choose your path at Total Transportation of Mississippi. Let
- 17:35Speaker 1: them be your travel agent and pay you to do it.

- 17:43Speaker 1: totalms dot com. Apply today with a great company at
- 17:47Speaker 1: Total Transportation of Mississippi total ms dot com. We're live
- 17:52Speaker 1: from Dancing Rabbit Golf Club on the property of Pearl
- 17:55Speaker 1: River Resort. Yes, Bar two and I did go to
- 17:57Speaker 1: the sports book yesterday. We will be back there today.
- 18:01Speaker 1: Bar two is going to make some bets on Week one,
- 18:06Speaker 1: all missing Louisville and possibly some other games. But we
- 18:09Speaker 1: want to get into where do national championship coaches come from?
- 18:17Speaker 1: And So let's just go over Kurt Signety the last one,
- 18:22Speaker 1: Ryan Day before that, Ohio State, and Jim Harbaugh at
- 18:27Speaker 1: Michigan before that, and Kirby Smart before that, because everybody
- 18:33Speaker 1: outside of the SEC is loving that we haven't won
- 18:38Speaker 1: a championship in three years? Now? Are we going to
- 18:40Speaker 1: win another one? Of course we are in our sleep.
- 18:43Speaker 1: And would I be surprised if Georgia, Like if I
- 18:46Speaker 1: went somewhere, if Bar two put me on a spaceship
- 18:50Speaker 1: today and I didn't come back until January twenty first,
- 18:54Speaker 1: and somebody told me that Georgia won the national championship,
- 18:58Speaker 1: I wouldn't be surprised.
- 18:59Speaker 3: You can't, right, right, you can't be. And I think
- 19:02Speaker 3: when we were we were talking about the different coaches
- 19:04Speaker 3: last night, and the reason I'd brought it up in
- 19:07Speaker 3: our conversation is just watching on the social medias some
- 19:12Speaker 3: of the people talking about, well, this is where national
- 19:15Speaker 3: championship coaches come from. You've got to be a great
- 19:17Speaker 3: OC or a great DC at some point. They don't
- 19:20Speaker 3: come from small schools, you know. And I think it
- 19:23Speaker 3: was a lot of it was in reference to will
- 19:26Speaker 3: Stein being a really good offensive coordinator at Oregon and utsa.
- 19:30Speaker 3: Now he's at Kentucky, and you know, it kind of
- 19:34Speaker 3: just got me thinking of where do And it goes
- 19:38Speaker 3: along with the conversation we had too about sometimes as
- 19:42Speaker 3: an athletic director, when you're hiring guys, it's better to
- 19:46Speaker 3: be more lucky than good. Sure, right, And you look
- 19:49Speaker 3: at these national championship guys and yeah, we love elite ocs.
- 19:53Speaker 3: We love elite DC's. Look at Kirby, yeah, right, I
- 19:57Speaker 3: mean he is in my numbers, without a doubt, the
- 20:00Speaker 3: best defensive coordinator in the two thousands. Yeah, at least
- 20:03Speaker 3: it's twenty ten. Okay, Okay, you know in uh, let's
- 20:08Speaker 3: call it his generation, right, the last fifteen years. You know,
- 20:12Speaker 3: I'm never one of those guys of greatest of all time?
- 20:15Speaker 3: I like, how were you in your generation? Because rules,
- 20:18Speaker 3: everything's always changing. Sure, you know we're going to look
- 20:21Speaker 3: back at the post in pre nil era, right, right,
- 20:25Speaker 3: because that twenty twenty one transition, we're going to look
- 20:30Speaker 3: back and it's going to be I think it's going
- 20:32Speaker 3: to be Wow, that really really changed football. We know
- 20:35Speaker 3: it's going to, but to what extent We're not sure? Right,
- 20:39Speaker 3: So you look at these you look at the national champions.
- 20:42Speaker 3: And you look at Kurt Signetti, right, was he an
- 20:45Speaker 3: elite OC?
- 20:46Speaker 1: No?
- 20:47Speaker 3: Is he in leade DC?
- 20:48Speaker 1: No? No?
- 20:49Speaker 3: Did he come out of the G six? Actually he
- 20:51Speaker 3: came out of what Division two?
- 20:52Speaker 1: Yeah?
- 20:52Speaker 3: Division three? So he didn't have that before that, you
- 20:57Speaker 3: got Ryan Day, Okay, we'll give him elite OC. Right,
- 21:00Speaker 3: So we got an elite OC. But Jim Harbaugh wasn't
- 21:03Speaker 3: elite anything before being a head coach. He was at
- 21:06Speaker 3: San Diego, no scholar scholarship. San Diego is where he
- 21:10Speaker 3: started as the head coach. So two of our last
- 21:12Speaker 3: three national championship winning head coaches came from what most
- 21:16Speaker 3: fans would say the absolute bottom of the bucket in
- 21:19Speaker 3: terms of college football. Right, you know, national champions don't
- 21:23Speaker 3: come from there, right, And then you got Kurby and.
- 21:25Speaker 1: Think about that. Yeah, quick, bart two, I understand Signetty.
- 21:29Speaker 1: You know having to go. I mean he went from
- 21:32Speaker 1: low ball, low a minor league baseball basically to the
- 21:38Speaker 1: promised land of winning the National championship. But Harball, after
- 21:41Speaker 1: playing fifteen years in the NFL and having played at
- 21:44Speaker 1: a blue blood, still had to go to San Diego
- 21:47Speaker 1: with a non scholarship football program to cut his teeth exactly.
- 21:52Speaker 3: Okay, go right, and then to Stanford and so forth.
- 21:55Speaker 1: But Stanford didn't win before him or after him. That's
- 21:58Speaker 1: how damn good he is.
- 21:59Speaker 3: Yeah, and he wasn't some great offensive or defensive coordinator
- 22:03Speaker 3: like a Kirby Right or O Ryan Day. And then
- 22:07Speaker 3: obviously you have Nick Saban. Where's his first job? Toledo?
- 22:12Speaker 3: He's head coach at Toledo Rockets. Right, So now we
- 22:16Speaker 3: got a guy coming from now when we got two
- 22:18Speaker 3: division two, Division three guys, an elite DC, elite OC
- 22:22Speaker 3: and a guy from the MAC right, and then we
- 22:26Speaker 3: have that then oh gosh, then the twenty nineteen LSU.
- 22:32Speaker 1: Or Durons Eddie oh.
- 22:33Speaker 3: Right, and Eddie Well, Eddie's been Eddie's an elite storyteller.
- 22:38Speaker 1: He is, oh my gosh, makes him an elite recruiter,
- 22:40Speaker 1: right right.
- 22:41Speaker 3: I mean, if if there was a thirty to thirty
- 22:43Speaker 3: to thirty ESPN thirty thirty on recruiting stories, I'd be like,
- 22:48Speaker 3: could you just turn the camera on two people.
- 22:51Speaker 1: That I would love to hear from if they could
- 22:54Speaker 1: say whatever they wanted, which they kind of can today
- 22:56Speaker 1: since we're new rules, which Ed is kind of doing
- 22:58Speaker 1: in interviews, which is great. Yeah, he's legal because we
- 23:01Speaker 1: were so pearl clutching as college football, we knew that
- 23:05Speaker 1: kids have been paid under the table. It's been dirty forever. Churches.
- 23:10Speaker 1: Let me, what do we do it? Yeah, we have
- 23:12Speaker 1: a salary cap now, so what But the same the
- 23:15Speaker 1: two guys that there's more than this. But the two
- 23:17Speaker 1: guys currently would be Eddio and Mario Cristobal listening because
- 23:22Speaker 1: they're absolutely ruthless warlords when it comes to recruiting. Yeah, okay,
- 23:28Speaker 1: go ahead, yeah, yeah, And I think one of my
- 23:31Speaker 1: by the way, right now you have and I may
- 23:32Speaker 1: have missed one, but right now you have Dabbo National
- 23:36Speaker 1: Championship coach non Alito c or DC Signetti National Championship.
- 23:40Speaker 1: This is recently save Signetti, Saban and Eddie. Oh right,
- 23:45Speaker 1: I think I'm missing one. But these are guys who
- 23:48Speaker 1: were never ever elite play callers and their national championship coaches.
- 23:55Speaker 3: Jim Dressel, thank.
- 23:56Speaker 1: You, Jim.
- 23:58Speaker 3: Trust he's not he was never released.
- 24:00Speaker 1: An unbelievable football coach.
- 24:01Speaker 3: Yeah, good grief that Youngstown State and this guy.
- 24:06Speaker 1: They were so well coached, so fundamentally sound in the trenches.
- 24:10Speaker 1: So but very Signetti like go ahead, right far too, Irban.
- 24:14Speaker 3: Meyer non elite OC, non alite DC. Another one Bowling
- 24:19Speaker 3: Green State University right right and urban to me has
- 24:23Speaker 3: always been the poster child of the progressive head coach,
- 24:28Speaker 3: instant impact. He walked into Bowling Green, Bowling Green, Bam,
- 24:33Speaker 3: eight and four, nothing to eight and four, walks into Utah, bam,
- 24:38Speaker 3: walks into Florida. I mean everything that man touched. He
- 24:42Speaker 3: was the most progressive in terms of being able to
- 24:47Speaker 3: move from program to program.
- 24:49Speaker 1: Hang on, let me go through them again. These are
- 24:51Speaker 1: for our listeners. These are coaches that have won national championships.
- 24:55Speaker 1: I'm not talking about in nineteen sixty seven, which doesn't matter.
- 24:58Speaker 1: In the last fifteen years. Dabo Signetti, Saban, ed O'sern,
- 25:04Speaker 1: Jim Trussell, Urban Meyer.
- 25:06Speaker 3: No, a lot of.
- 25:07Speaker 1: Them were Elite OC's or DC's. This is past.
- 25:10Speaker 3: I'll give you another one. Okay, this guy average play caller.
- 25:14Speaker 1: Jimbo Fisher, Oh wow, Jim bow But he had to
- 25:20Speaker 1: be great. You know how we label guys. Because he
- 25:22Speaker 1: was under Saban, they had to do a score ten
- 25:25Speaker 1: points a game. When he was at LSU, he immediately
- 25:28Speaker 1: got that that law. So if you're near Saban, or
- 25:31Speaker 1: you're near urban at a certain time, or you're near
- 25:34Speaker 1: dab you know how we are. Yeah, you're near. That
- 25:37Speaker 1: means you're elite, right Sean McVay, Charlie White Senior and
- 25:40Speaker 1: Romeo Crenell under Bill Belichick, And they both went three
- 25:43Speaker 1: and thirty nine when they got head coaching, and Josh
- 25:45Speaker 1: McDaniel and when when they got head coaching jobs, they.
- 25:48Speaker 3: Couldn't they couldn't get it done.
- 25:50Speaker 1: Go ahead, you know, Dave bar two on the Out
- 25:52Speaker 1: of Bound Show.
- 25:53Speaker 3: How about a really good offensive coordinator? I would say,
- 25:56Speaker 3: not elite, but came out of nowhere right where he started.
- 26:02Speaker 3: Gus smells On, Yeah, right, Arkansas State Actually, Arkansas States
- 26:09Speaker 3: has produced a couple of guys.
- 26:10Speaker 1: Yeah, so Gush, Hugh Freeze.
- 26:12Speaker 3: Not not but Jones, Not but Jones. How is he
- 26:17Speaker 3: getting renewed?
- 26:17Speaker 1: I don't know, right, but you're right, Mauson and Freeze
- 26:22Speaker 1: and they made quick quick stops in Jonesborough.
- 26:25Speaker 3: And then you go and you go even past fifteen years, though,
- 26:29Speaker 3: is you do have the elite play caller, the elite
- 26:32Speaker 3: football mind in Spurrier.
- 26:33Speaker 1: Sure, we'll we'll.
- 26:35Speaker 3: Give him, We'll give him that if you.
- 26:37Speaker 1: Were grading back then he would have graded oh.
- 26:40Speaker 3: Through through the roof. Okay, right, I mean I doubt,
- 26:44Speaker 3: I doubt there is anybody that I knew that could
- 26:50Speaker 3: take twenty two guys and win a football game, just
- 26:54Speaker 3: any random twenty two guys and just go out and
- 26:57Speaker 3: play football, you know, just just just his mind in
- 27:01Speaker 3: terms of being able to manage the game, the offense,
- 27:03Speaker 3: the flow of the game, everything. I don't think there
- 27:06Speaker 3: was anybody like him. There's a lot of similarities between
- 27:10Speaker 3: Spurrier and Lane Kiffin. There there is, actually, I always
- 27:15Speaker 3: I always thought one of the biggest similarity to the
- 27:17Speaker 3: Spurrier in terms of just give me, just give me
- 27:20Speaker 3: a play card.
- 27:20Speaker 1: Leach is Leech. Yeah, you know is you know, drive
- 27:25Speaker 1: around on.
- 27:25Speaker 3: The golf cart for six days and then Saturday, show up,
- 27:28Speaker 3: go coach a game, win.
- 27:30Speaker 1: Kick your tail.
- 27:31Speaker 3: Yeah exactly.
- 27:32Speaker 1: Just give me eleven guys and I'll beat you.
- 27:35Speaker 3: Just just absolutely amazing. Okay.
- 27:37Speaker 1: One more, Chiswick was not an elite DMC and he
- 27:41Speaker 1: wanted at Auburn.
- 27:41Speaker 3: Right and anything. And then less Miles, Oh my gosh,
- 27:45Speaker 3: less Miles.
- 27:46Speaker 1: He wasn't an elite play caller. No, he was an
- 27:49Speaker 1: offensive line coach who played under both Shimbeckler. All right,
- 27:52Speaker 1: so let's go through this list for our listeners. We
- 27:55Speaker 1: are the Out of Bounds Show. We're powered by Total
- 27:57Speaker 1: Transportation of Mississippi Offering Nay shen Wade and regional routes.
- 28:02Speaker 1: Go ahead and apply to day to an outstanding company
- 28:06Speaker 1: tootal ms dot com Bo Bounds Day Bar two live
- 28:09Speaker 1: from Dancing Rabbit Golf Club on the property of Pearl
- 28:12Speaker 1: River Resort. We're throwing our own SEC Media Days party
- 28:16Speaker 1: in honor of Lane Kiffin's Media Days. Let's go, and
- 28:20Speaker 1: we're probably even missing more. But right now, these are
- 28:23Speaker 1: non elite OC or DC play callers that have won
- 28:26Speaker 1: national championships in the two thousands. Dabo Signetti, Saban ed Osron,
- 28:33Speaker 1: Jim Tressel, Urban Meyer, jimbo Fisher, Gene Chiswick and as
- 28:38Speaker 1: Bar two just said, less miles, right.
- 28:41Speaker 3: So, and then you look at your current top twenty five,
- 28:44Speaker 3: look at your contenders right now? Okay, yeah, in Indiana,
- 28:48Speaker 3: still there, right right? Mario is just an offensive line coach,
- 28:50Speaker 3: that's right. He started at FIU.
- 28:52Speaker 1: He was, That's a great point. He was at FIU,
- 28:55Speaker 1: which is a brutal job. And think about that. Mario's
- 29:01Speaker 1: never been a play caller, but he has morphed into
- 29:04Speaker 1: one hell of a head coach and he's done a
- 29:06Speaker 1: great job. And he got into the national championship game. Right,
- 29:10Speaker 1: that's a big deal. It's a huge and even bigger
- 29:12Speaker 1: deal now that you have to win more games to
- 29:15Speaker 1: get there.
- 29:15Speaker 3: Yeah, you got to win. You got to play fifteen
- 29:17Speaker 3: to get there, you know. And and you know Indiana,
- 29:20Speaker 3: I mean they won sixteen games last year. Miami played
- 29:23Speaker 3: sixteen games thirteen and three, you know. And you look
- 29:26Speaker 3: at Texas Tech top ten Joey maguire of high school coach,
- 29:31Speaker 3: right Elko really good defensive coordinator, Calin de Boor, he
- 29:36Speaker 3: wasn't a great offense or defensive coordinator, you know, and
- 29:39Speaker 3: you're kind of good.
- 29:40Speaker 1: He's been up he went Duboor started like at the
- 29:45Speaker 1: lowest of the low too. Yeah, he's been down in
- 29:47Speaker 1: the you know, d three forty thousand dollars year budget
- 29:51Speaker 1: school where I'm you know, making sure that the field,
- 29:54Speaker 1: I'm mowing the grass.
- 29:55Speaker 3: Yeah, you're you're also doing that, right, and so.
- 29:58Speaker 1: We're not being we're not in bell that no, I mean,
- 30:01Speaker 1: Signetti was doing the same thing at Indiana PA.
- 30:05Speaker 3: What right, you know? And you and you go and
- 30:08Speaker 3: you go through your SEC coaches, Okay, right, just because
- 30:11Speaker 3: I mean it is I mean that's our focus here anyways.
- 30:13Speaker 3: But you look at your top twenty five right now,
- 30:15Speaker 3: and it's just a smattering of where guys came from.
- 30:18Speaker 3: But you you got Georgie, got Kirby right obviously the
- 30:21Speaker 3: elite DC to start with. But you got Shane Beemer,
- 30:25Speaker 3: special teams coordinator. He was never a play called or
- 30:29Speaker 3: he wasn't like Pete Golding. Now, Pete is I would
- 30:33Speaker 3: put him right on the border of elite. Okay, border
- 30:35Speaker 3: of elite, Yeah he is. I don't have his grade
- 30:37Speaker 3: right in front of me. But he's done it at
- 30:39Speaker 3: two places, okay, and he's done it really really well.
- 30:43Speaker 3: So so he's borderline there. I would say, Pete Golding
- 30:45Speaker 3: and Mike elcho as PC's very very similar, got it, Brentville.
- 30:49Speaker 1: That's a good you kind of profile. That's a good comp.
- 30:54Speaker 3: For Ford, know Pete. Pete hasn't coach the head you know,
- 30:59Speaker 3: I have been a head coach yet for regular seas, right,
- 31:01Speaker 3: so we don't have those comparables. But as a d C.
- 31:05Speaker 3: Both of them were excellent over their careers of multiple places.
- 31:08Speaker 3: You know we would well as as as a head coach,
- 31:11Speaker 3: we would both take a Mike Elko or a Pete
- 31:14Speaker 3: Golding as our DC anywhere. Sure, right, you know Venables
- 31:19Speaker 3: super elite DC wo wow, right, hypel elite OC, Sarkesian
- 31:25Speaker 3: elite OC. You know, And but then some of the
- 31:28Speaker 3: newer guys.
- 31:30Speaker 1: He's not elite on either side, but he has done
- 31:32Speaker 1: a magnificent job at Troy and Tulane exactly right.
- 31:36Speaker 3: And then but you look at your newer hires. Gaulish
- 31:40Speaker 3: yet hasn't been elead at anything. Two bad years as
- 31:43Speaker 3: a play caller and one good one last year. Right,
- 31:47Speaker 3: you know, Silverfield hasn't been elite at anything. By the way,
- 31:52Speaker 3: our listener silverfielders at Arkentuckansas now and I and I
- 31:57Speaker 3: don't think where where did drink was at? An elite
- 32:00Speaker 3: play caller?
- 32:01Speaker 1: No?
- 32:02Speaker 3: To start, he had a great running out stay. So
- 32:05Speaker 3: you know, these guys come from all sorts of walks
- 32:09Speaker 3: of life, and there's no pattern or necessarily rhyme or reason.
- 32:14Speaker 1: You just never know.
- 32:15Speaker 3: It's just sometimes you just get like you're sad day, right,
- 32:19Speaker 3: and That's one of the beauties of college football, though,
- 32:21Speaker 3: is the unknown, the hope that your guy is the
- 32:25Speaker 3: guy this year, and then he's not, and we start over,
- 32:28Speaker 3: and then we hope your guy is the guy next year.
- 32:30Speaker 1: It's kind of like NFL and quarterbacks. You have to
- 32:33Speaker 1: constantly If you don't get the head coach position right
- 32:36Speaker 1: in college football or the quarterback position in NFL, it's
- 32:39Speaker 1: a non starter.
- 32:40Speaker 3: It's over.
- 32:41Speaker 1: It's over, right. Yeah, So look at the Cleveland Browns
- 32:44Speaker 1: the last twenty five years. Yeah, Holy Mary ol zep
- 32:48Speaker 1: bar two real quick, if you had to pick, if
- 32:52Speaker 1: you had to pick right now, offensive coordinator, John David Baker,
- 32:55Speaker 1: Jeff Levy.
- 32:56Speaker 3: John David Baker.
- 32:57Speaker 1: Okay, all right, So if bart two was picking an
- 33:01Speaker 1: OC today and he had to pick between John David
- 33:03Speaker 1: Baker and Jeff Levy, he would pick John David Baker.
- 33:06Speaker 1: And we believe that Pete Golding went to a stylist.
- 33:10Speaker 1: We're not sure where Oxford. Whatever this man is, I mean,
- 33:15Speaker 1: he is he looks he almost looks more Raymond James
- 33:20Speaker 1: than Delta State. We are the out of bound show
- 33:23Speaker 1: ESPN one oh five nine, the Zone. We are powered
- 33:26Speaker 1: by total transportation of Mississippi apply today nationwide and regional
