- 1:27First time on Jabba and the mouth.
- 1:31Yes, we are now talking to I I'm sure fish is is loving this.
- 1:35He's a giant fan speed. He's a giant fan over here.
- 1:39Scoops the poops is a giant fan. Just me?
- 1:42I'm not, but I love this guy. We are now talking to former New
- 1:46York Giants Super Bowl champion wide receiver.
- 1:49I've got a new name for him. I'm going to call him the play
- 1:52shaker himself, Stephen Baker. Stephen, what is?
- 1:57What's up? Hey, I'm so excited to be here,
- 2:01man. You guys are very professional.
- 2:03I'd love the pre thing you were talking about baseball.
- 2:06I'm a Dodgers fan because I grew up in Los Angeles.
- 2:09I go back to the old days with Steve Garvey on first base doing
- 2:12the splits. Steve Garvey Now I'm now I'm
- 2:17really feel old. Steve Garvey I well, I'm 43, so
- 2:22I'm not too far from you. I might not look it, but I, I
- 2:26remember Steve Garvey and I remember those Dodger teams.
- 2:29I remember Oral Harsh Hershiser. Jabba talks about him all the
- 2:34time, tells me he's one of the best pitchers of all time.
- 2:38I, I think Jabba's on drugs, but that's, that's just, he's Jabba
- 2:41Chamberlain. He's Jabba Chamberlain.
- 2:43So I can't I can't attack him because he's a former Yankee and
- 2:46he and he was a flamethrower and one of the great relief pitchers
- 2:50when he played at the time that he was playing.
- 2:52So I can't really attack him on that.
- 2:54So, and I he'll tell you what do you know about baseball?
- 2:56I was in the league. You never played.
- 2:58So whatever. I'm sorry John, you know,
- 3:01Speaking of New York Giants football and you know a little
- 3:04bit about it because you were coached from two of the greatest
- 3:08coaches, actually three of the greatest coaches of all time,
- 3:12Tom Coughlin, Bill Belichick and the great Belt Parcells.
- 3:16What was it like being coached by all of those 3 great coaches?
- 3:22Well, first of all, coming to the New York Giants after they
- 3:24won the Super Bowl, Parcells was a straight up heads up guy.
- 3:28He didn't talk to you like a player coach.
- 3:30He talked to you like somebody in the street.
- 3:33So when we came here as rookies, he let us rookies know right
- 3:37away when we weren't practicing. Well, we had a dual practice
- 3:40with the Patriots and we weren't doing too well.
- 3:42And he caught us all in a huddle and told us, take a look over
- 3:45there. We looked at the team over there
- 3:47and he's like, I won the Super Bowl with them.
- 3:49I don't need any of you sons of bees.
- 3:51And like, man, you know what, He's right.
- 3:53They won the Super Bowl. They don't really need us.
- 3:55So he was that type of guy, man. He motivated you through fear
- 4:01and to see how you would respond.
- 4:03And as you can imagine, he would always talk about me and my size
- 4:07being little, having an earring in my ear.
- 4:09Coming from California, he didn't like any of them and Fast
- 4:13forward to Tom Coughlin being our wide receiver coach.
- 4:16Man, he was actually harder than Parcells.
- 4:19Most people don't realize that he gave us written tests the
- 4:23night before the game and if you didn't pass the written test,
- 4:26you did not play. We used to sneak out of the
- 4:29hotel rooms when we had home games.
- 4:32We as soon as they do bed check, we would peek out.
- 4:34Nobody's there. We go get in our cars and go
- 4:36home and sleep in our beds. When Tom Coughlin came on the
- 4:38team, he sat outside in the the room of the floor rather where
- 4:43we were reading a newspaper till about three or two in the
- 4:46morning man to make sure we didn't sneak out.
- 4:50Belichick always respected my gameplay.
- 4:54He always made sure that I went up against Mark Collins and
- 4:58Jesus Perry Williams in one-on-one drills because we
- 5:01made each other better. I was a little receiver, which
- 5:04always gave big, tall defensive backs problems and vice versa,
- 5:09tall guys trying to jam me. It made me a better player.
- 5:12So he always respected my input on that.
- 5:14And you know, I look back on it, those were the three best
- 5:19coaches I think that I've ever played for.
- 5:22So you played in the heyday of the NFC East where it was
- 5:24thought of as the best division in football for a long time.
- 5:26I see you guys winning 2 Super Bowls, Dallas winning all the
- 5:29Super Bowls they did in the 90s. We've actually had a few of them
- 5:31on our show to Doc Walker, who played for the Commanders,
- 5:34Washington at that time, tight end Tony Casillas who was on
- 5:36those Cowboys teams. There were a lot of rivalries
- 5:38with those guys. What was those some of the
- 5:40rivalries like for you and is there any individual player that
- 5:43you had a personal grudge with? The rivalry, like you said, the
- 5:46NFC Eastman, the Redskins, well, now they're commanders.
- 5:49But man, when they were called the Redskins at Daryl Green,
- 5:52Man, he was a beast. But he was all class.
- 5:56And I always tell people when you ran a route against him, you
- 5:59couldn't do like a change of speed route.
- 6:02Like run slow and then try to speed up.
- 6:04You had to run full tilt at him because you run full tilt at
- 6:07him, come out to break. You're like, it's no way he
- 6:11could break on this ball. And sure enough, a soft hand
- 6:13would come and just bat the ball away.
- 6:16He gave me the best compliment ever.
- 6:18My first start against the Redskins, I went 80 yards.
- 6:21And they asked him at the end of the game, why didn't he catch
- 6:25me? And he said the guy I was
- 6:26chasing wasn't exactly a turtle. Yeah, I I I treasure that
- 6:33because he was gaining on me, man, If everybody see the
- 6:35highlight, like, yo, he was gaining.
- 6:37Hey, but he didn't catch me. That's all that matters.
- 6:39He called Mark Navarro that game and he called Maurice Carthon
- 6:43because they both look back. I just tilted my head back and
- 6:46act like I was running, playing street ball in California when I
- 6:49grew up. And of course we hated the
- 6:52Eagles. The Eagles, man, come on.
- 6:54You know that they used to throw batteries at us, man, 9 Volt
- 6:57batteries hit you in the helmet and it resonates so loud.
- 7:00And they, they were the most hated.
- 7:02I think them and the Cowgirls, I mean Cowboys, were the two most
- 7:06things we could not take. You're going to you're going to.
- 7:09There's a lot of Cowboy fans that listen to their show, so
- 7:12I'm sure you got them jumping for whatever, trying to trying
- 7:17to grab them, trying to grab them in the scream and.
- 7:20You know what, that is fine because I can say that because I
- 7:22was born in San Antonio, TX and I was a die hard Cowboy fan
- 7:26until the day I got drafted. I had Tony Dorsett's picture on
- 7:30my dorm wall until the day I got drafted.
- 7:33Then it was time to put childish things away.
- 7:35I'm a giant fan for life now, but I like the Cowboys up to
- 7:38that point. I like him.
- 7:39I like him. We are we are talking to former
- 7:42New York Giants Super Bowl champion wide receiver, the
- 7:45touchdown maker, but I'm calling him the play.
- 7:47Shaker himself played for the New York Giants from 1987 and 92
- 7:53and won Super Bowl 25. And his name is Stephen Baker.
- 7:58You know Stephen. We look at the game and and the
- 8:01game's completely changed from when you played in those days.
- 8:04The corners can pull your jersey.
- 8:07There was no penalties. There's you barely can.
- 8:10I mean, if you played in the days of now where if you touched
- 8:15a wide receiver, you're getting a 15 yard penalty.
- 8:18If you played with your speed now, you would be a lot faster
- 8:22with all the training facilities that they have right now and all
- 8:24the the opportunities that some of these players have in the
- 8:27offseason. What type of player do you think
- 8:29you would be now in the NFL for what you were in the 80s and the
- 8:33early 90s? I actually got the best
- 8:35compliment from coach Pope, who coached the tight ends for us
- 8:38and then he coached Dallas, I believe Green Bay.
- 8:40And he had told me a couple years ago, he said, Bake, if you
- 8:43were playing today, they would not be able to touch you.
- 8:46And I would say this about yesteryear's players.
- 8:49The way we played, we were a little more aggressive.
- 8:52Man, I see the me and my, my brother and I was just talking
- 8:55about this. When receivers are running
- 8:57routes now on the DB, they let them do this hand grabbing.
- 8:59Now the little fighting and whatnot.
- 9:02Tom Coughlin taught us to beat the crap out of their hands.
- 9:05They need to take karate lessons because all you got to do is
- 9:07chop them right across that radius.
- 9:09They're all in their bone really hard and they'll stop all that
- 9:12grabbing. But I, I know for a fact I would
- 9:14have stayed off of social media because people are so critical
- 9:18of your play today. And I would have just focused on
- 9:22me, man, just doing what I do best and work hard and practice
- 9:26practicing like his game time. Not complaining about not
- 9:29getting any targets. I ain't gonna say no names.
- 9:31A.J. Brown for that kills me, man.
- 9:34You're freaking four. And oh, and you're complaining
- 9:37about touches. Mark Ingram caught 37 passes our
- 9:40Super Bowl year. I caught 34, I believe.
- 9:43Did we complain? No.
- 9:44It got us one of these. We worked our tail off when they
- 9:48asked us to block. We block.
- 9:50I get a lot of haters. How do you get the touchdown
- 9:52maker? He only scored 23 touchdowns.
- 9:54The little history on that. I got that name in junior
- 9:57college when I scored 31 touchdowns in two years.
- 10:00A reporter came up to me after the first time I played on
- 10:02artificial turf and said, hey, that was the greatest
- 10:04performance I've ever seen by a wide receiver.
- 10:06I scored four in a row. And he said, do you mind if I
- 10:08call you Stephen Baker, the touchdown maker?
- 10:10And I said, sure, go ahead. And I went on to score 31.
- 10:13At that time, it was a junior college national record, which I
- 10:16with OJ Simpson, that was the only thing we had in common.
- 10:19By the way, the name just kind of stuck.
- 10:22And you can imagine coming here to Parcells, he's like, how many
- 10:25touchdowns you got in this league?
- 10:26Giant fans still Remember Me by that name and I didn't score a
- 10:30lot. But hey, I always say that one
- 10:32in the Super Bowl when my team needed it and I was always there
- 10:35for my team when they needed me. So I want to reference some a
- 10:38guy you brought up earlier in Mark Bavaro that was thought of
- 10:40as one of the best tight ends of that era, one of the best, one
- 10:43of probably a top ten, top 15 tight end in in the game.
- 10:46What was he like as a teammate on and off the field?
- 10:48And do you think he was one of the guys that kind of changed
- 10:50the tight end position where he's always kind of thought of
- 10:52as more of that like big tight blocker?
- 10:55Yeah, you know what? He kind of reminds me of Mackey
- 10:57from back in the day. God rest.
- 10:58His play for the Colts, he was a hard running tight end as well.
- 11:02And there's a guy on the Giants right now that kind of reminds
- 11:04me of Bavaro, but he's a little more vocal scout.
- 11:08Bavaro was real quiet, but he was a quiet assassin.
- 11:11I recall one game we played a preseason against the Houston
- 11:15Oilers and we ran a play. We got back in the huddle and he
- 11:18said run it against Sims and I brought in the the play you're
- 11:21supposed to run. And Sam said coach said to run
- 11:24this. He said no, run it again.
- 11:26Bavaro Pancake the guy man. And of course in the meetings
- 11:29when Parcells is over there with his hands on his hips and the
- 11:32meetings, I had to take the blame.
- 11:33So I said I brought in the wrong place so the quarterback
- 11:35wouldn't get in trouble. But Mark was a silent assassin.
- 11:39If you did him wrong, he was going to get you back.
- 11:42And I tell you, he was. Now, he talks a lot.
- 11:45He didn't talk a lot. You know, he's called him Rocky
- 11:47and all that stuff. Now, man, you get my mark on a
- 11:50microphone. You can't shut him up.
- 11:52Lawrence Taylor I met Lawrence Taylor I one of the nicest
- 11:57people I've ever met, sitting having a conversation.
- 12:00He knows football, he knows a little bit about everything.
- 12:03When you have a conversation with Lawrence, he'll talk about
- 12:06music, he'll talk about it, he'll talk about anything.
- 12:09You bring it up, he'll tell you what that what his favorite gum
- 12:12is, what type of gummy you should eat and and what you
- 12:15shouldn't be eating. He is one of the funniest people
- 12:18you'll ever meet. What type of player, what type
- 12:21of captain was Lawrence Taylor in the locker room?
- 12:25The way he led was by his play. He wasn't really a vocal leader
- 12:29like a Pepper Johnson or Harry Carson.
- 12:31But I remember we were playing The Jets in preseason.
- 12:34Richard Todd I believe was the quarterback and I'd never seen
- 12:37that stadium get so loud when came on 1/3 and something and
- 12:39got a sack and I said to myself, man, that's why he gets paid
- 12:43$1,000,000, which is nothing compared to today's salaries,
- 12:46but back then it was a lot of money.
- 12:47He was just a team leader by his play and one of the nicest guys
- 12:51in the locker room. Man, I remember my daughter was
- 12:54Girl Scouts and he, he bought like, you know, 50 boxes from
- 12:57me. If you needed to borrow some
- 12:59money from him, he would loan it to you.
- 13:02Just better remember to pay him back because he won't forget.
- 13:04But I still see Lawrence at golf events, you know, I see him at
- 13:09Otis Anderson's golf event. We do every year.
- 13:11He can play some golf, man. But he was playing ever since
- 13:15back in the day when we were in the 80s and whatnot.
- 13:17His game is is impeccable. That's what keeps him going is
- 13:20golf. Him and Otis Anderson, by the
- 13:22way. He is one of the most
- 13:24competitive people I've ever had a conversation with.
- 13:27He would tell me, listen, let's I, you have a deck of cards.
- 13:31I'll never forget when I first met him, I was like, no, why
- 13:33would I have a deck of cards? He's like, he pulled it right
- 13:35out of his back pocket. He says, I bet you I'll pull out
- 13:39a bit. I'll, I'll pull out a hard, a
- 13:40higher card than you. I'll bet you 20 bucks.
- 13:42I was like, I don't want to bet you 20 bucks.
- 13:44I was like, wait, wait, why is it he just said, I'll bet you 20
- 13:47bucks. I'll pull out the I'll give you
- 13:48a better chance. I'll, I'll split the cards and
- 13:51you can pick anything from the split cards and say no Lawrence,
- 13:54I, I, I'm sure you could. So I, that was, that's a funny.
- 13:58And of course, you brought up The Jets because I am a Jet fan
- 14:00and I'm an Eagles. Fan too, by the way.
- 14:03So say yeah, Well, I'll tell you a quick story.
- 14:06Everybody asked me how do a Jets and Eagles fan.
- 14:08All right. I was a Donovan McNabb fan.
- 14:11I followed him in Syracuse. I followed him in Syracuse.
- 14:14He was my favorite player in college.
- 14:16I followed him in the NFL when he was drafted by the Eagles.
- 14:19And The Jets were never good. So when The Jets would never
- 14:22make the playoffs, I had to root for somebody.
- 14:25And I couldn't stand the Giants. I couldn't.
- 14:28I can't stand. And then I got this guy, and you
- 14:32probably you haven't seen him. You could pop in just for a
- 14:35second fish. I want you to see this guy wears
- 14:38all giant stuff on this show. Every show.
- 14:43See. Look at I'm mad.
- 14:44There he is. There he is, and he's my
- 14:47executive producer. Got to represent, you know what
- 14:49I mean? Look at I hide it from nothing
- 14:51just because we don't win every year.
- 14:52Yeah, and he makes a lot of excuses and he finds a way.
- 14:56Bandwagon second favorite team. And he finds it.
- 15:00Are you kidding me? Please get out of here.
- 15:02Get out of the frame. You pissed me off.
- 15:04You. Come back, coach.
- 15:11Hey, but on a serious topic of Wesley Walker is a very good
- 15:15friend of mine. I called him the real 85.
- 15:18He should be in the Hall of Fame.
- 15:19Bruce Harper is another good friend of mine.
- 15:22I I'm a little bit taller than him but I told him when I
- 15:25watched him I always looked up to him because I said if that
- 15:28little dude made it I have a chance.
- 15:30So couple of jets are my favorite.
- 15:32Wesley Walker. I met Wesley Walker three times.
- 15:35I got his phone number. He told me I can.
- 15:37And that was another thing that I have to give you.
- 15:39Wesley. I saw him at a couple of
- 15:41concussion events with Curtis Martin and a bunch of Jets.
- 15:45Joe Namath and Wesley was the nicest, nicest person too.
- 15:50Very kind, very collective, very nice to the ladies.
- 15:54He's very smooth. He is a smooth dude, I could
- 15:58tell you that. You know what most people don't
- 16:00know? He's legally blind.
- 16:01And why not? Yes, I did know that.
- 16:03And he actually told me because I was like, I was playing like
- 16:06slap boxing with him and I was just like, and he's like, I'm
- 16:09blind. I'm blind.
- 16:12I actually found it out because I used to read up on receivers
- 16:15and I read that sometime when I was in high school and I was
- 16:18like wow. And if anybody thinks it's easy,
- 16:20go try to catch a over shoulder ball with one eye close.
- 16:25He should be in the Hall of Fame.
- 16:27And I tell him all the time, he's got the numbers.
- 16:29Before I answer my question, I just want to mention on a side
- 16:31note, we also a couple years ago had The Jets superfan Fireman Ed
- 16:34on our show and he actually Bruce Harper is the jersey he
- 16:37always wears and he was actually telling a story about that.
- 16:40That was that was very interesting.
- 16:41So I want to shift gears. First of all, Fireman fire, Mr.
- 16:45Fireman was a Miami Dolphin fan. That's also true.
- 16:48Yeah, that's right. OK, so let's not really go too
- 16:51deep into that. I didn't know that.
- 16:54Steven, I'll. Give you.
- 16:56I'll throw you some curves, Steven.
- 16:57Steven made sure. To say, do the same tradition
- 16:59when he got drafted by the Giants.
- 17:00I always hate the Cowboys for the rest of his life.
- 17:02So we can respect, we can expect that way of thinking.
- 17:04So I want to shift to the gears with the the current Giants and
- 17:06obviously the drama that they've had the last two years with,
- 17:09with Saquon Barkley, obviously with with Daniel Jones.
- 17:12I gave him the contract and then they caught him last year and
- 17:14now he's striving over there in Indianapolis.
- 17:16Mistake. And So what are your thoughts to
- 17:17like that whole saga, how it went down with everything, with
- 17:19hard? Knocks Well, of course I saw it
- 17:21like you guys, man. And I I was shocked to here when
- 17:24you heard Mara say I don't want to say I know that kid is good
- 17:28for our locker room. He's a team player, what not I'd
- 17:30hate to see him go to the Eagles.
- 17:33And where does he go? Right to the Eagles.
- 17:35And on another note, look at Oh my God, they went to the Colts.
- 17:40Daniel Jones, Daniel Jones, Daniel Jones, man, Evan Ingram,
- 17:45yes, Evan Ingram. Look how well he's doing.
- 17:48The guy that went to the Raiders who left the Giants?
- 17:50I mean The Jets losing name the black quarterback for the
- 17:55Raiders, Dang. Gino.
- 17:58You know, thank you guys, man. And one more, the Seattle
- 18:01quarterback right now, This is my philosophy on it and Otis
- 18:07Anderson as well. Some of these kids can't handle
- 18:09the New York pressure, man. New York would keep it real.
- 18:12The reporters, they keep it real.
- 18:14You go to these other places like Indianapolis, hey, why did
- 18:17you drop that ball? I was just having a bad day.
- 18:20And they'll accept that. But New Yorkers won't accept
- 18:22that. And I think these kids can't
- 18:24handle the New York pressure, and when they go to other teams,
- 18:27they thrive. We are talking.
- 18:29We are talking to former New York Giants Super Bowl champion
- 18:32wide receiver, the one and only Stephen Baker.
- 18:34You know, Steven, Danny Dimes is a guy that I since he was
- 18:39drafted, I stuck up for him. I there are a lot of haters, a
- 18:43lot of people that didn't like him.
- 18:45They thought he was goofy and goofy.
- 18:47He tripped on his own feet all the way to the end zone.
- 18:50And everybody, they show that video every single time they
- 18:53show clips of the New York Giants and Danny Dimes.
- 18:56And I thought that the Giants did him a disservice.
- 18:59They never really gave him anything.
- 19:00No wide receivers. They were reaching the offensive
- 19:03line was horrible. They never did the right thing
- 19:06for the kid, and now you see him right now flourish over there in
- 19:09Indianapolis. Maybe he'd be doing that with
- 19:11the Giants. I'm not taking shots at the
- 19:13Giants organization. Or maybe I am.
- 19:15Maybe I am, but Jackson Dart has looked special.
- 19:20He has and he's a young kid. He he's a little, little wet
- 19:24behind the ears. He lost against the Saints.
- 19:26He didn't look good against the Saints.
- 19:27And then he goes on Thursday Night Football.
- 19:29And finally, after how many years the they beat the Eagles
- 19:33and Eagles team that I expect to be a Super Bowl contender this
- 19:37year. And this is the same Eagles that
- 19:39last year did not look good until the second-half of the
- 19:42season. Then it barely lost the game.
- 19:44So the Giants got the Eagles at the perfect time where the
- 19:47Eagles we're not, they're not offensively sound.
- 19:49They're not getting the ball into the places they should be.
- 19:52And Jalen Hurts has been a shell of what he was in the
- 19:54second-half of the season last year.
- 19:57What are your thoughts? What do you think?
- 19:58What do you believe is the problem right now with the
- 20:00Eagles offense? Well, for one, and you know, I
- 20:02had to take it to my to my wide receivers because I played the
- 20:05position man. If you saw the what game was
- 20:08that? The game Saquon, the ball 6
- 20:09times was that last week, last week, a week before?
- 20:13And didn't A.J. Brown go on Twitter or whatever
- 20:15and say that the offense is boring?
- 20:17I want more targets. What do they do?
- 20:19They target him. He what, 5 catches for 43 yards
- 20:22or whatever and you go for away from who you are.
- 20:25You can't do that man. You're not bigger than the team.
- 20:28Who cares about your targets, bro?
- 20:30I just told you that earlier take the plays when they call
- 20:33your number, just be ready. All that going to social media
- 20:36and complaining about not getting the ball like we all
- 20:38want the ball. You think I Mark Ingram 37 and
- 20:41I'm 34 passes. We didn't want the ball.
- 20:43We see it on 3rd down. They blitz and we look over the
- 20:47side like guys look, I'm one-on-one.
- 20:49But no, keep your mouth shut. Let it do what it do.
- 20:52Y'all could have been probably 5 and all until we beat you.
- 20:55But and that that's just freaking from the offensive side
- 20:58of the ball defensively. I mean, you know, silly stuff.
- 21:04Even that first game when the guy spit in Dallas.
- 21:06The quarterback, Jaylen. Carter, Yeah.
- 21:08Yeah, where do you where do you get this from?
- 21:11I I don't I just don't understand these kids mentality
- 21:13sometime today. But that's my thoughts on the
- 21:16Philadelphia offense. Now if you want to know about
- 21:18the Giants, I'm loving this kid Dart and Scatterboo.
- 21:22Scalabu reminds me of a old school.
- 21:25All stop, you know all snot, all stop.
- 21:28From the Tampa Mid Buccaneers. Remember him?
- 21:30Yeah, Mike, all start. Yeah.
- 21:32Mike, all side men, Otis Anderson say he may not last
- 21:35long, but who cares, This is how you play football.
- 21:37If Parcells was coaching his team, he would say look, guys,
- 21:40defensively and offensively, this is how you play football.
- 21:45And I'm loving him and I like how he gave praise to his
- 21:48offensive line during the ending of that game because he had a
- 21:52couple of 10 yard runs or 15 yard runs and he gave homage to
- 21:55his offensive line. Dart has to learn how to go
- 21:59down, man. We saw the one hit he took and
- 22:01had to go in the tent and then another first down he put his
- 22:05head down and went head up with somebody.
- 22:08Now they got tape on you man. You know, they're going to start
- 22:11devising plans to make you go a certain way so they can sack
- 22:14you. So.
- 22:16But he is exciting to watch. And that was, you know, I live
- 22:19down here by Philly, believe it or not.
- 22:21I'm in Woodbury, NJ, 5 miles from the Walt Whitman Bridge,
- 22:26thus Eagles country. So it felt good to be able to
- 22:29wear my stuff with pride for a change around here.
- 22:32And everybody was looking at me side eye, believe it or not.
- 22:35I'm sure I'm positive. I'm positive on that.
- 22:39So you're talking you're talking about the the the running backs
- 22:43and obviously Jackson Dart would deal with the injuries and stuff
- 22:45like that too. There was a story during the
- 22:47offseason about a lot of people, a lot of players that were
- 22:50mentioning that the guaranteed money was not right for a lot of
- 22:53these players. And there was collusion in the
- 22:55offseason. Lamar Jackson got underpaid as a
- 22:57result because of Deshaun Watson and stuff like that.
- 22:59And obviously there's all these running backs like Saquon that
- 23:01did not get the money that they deserve to get.
- 23:03Obviously you played in the pre salary cap era, but obviously
- 23:06you've probably been around the team enough to know some of
- 23:07these players, like just in contract negotiations, like what
- 23:10is it like as a player? And do you think there really is
- 23:12so these nitpicking going on in the NFL?
- 23:14Well, you know what, I think if you produce and you do what
- 23:18you're supposed to do, you will get paid.
- 23:21I don't like when athletes try to get paid when they haven't
- 23:24done nothing yet. I mean, that's just life
- 23:27one-on-one. You used to have to work for
- 23:29stuff these days, you know what I mean?
- 23:30Back in our day, you had to work for it.
- 23:32You know, I ain't a shame to say my contract my final year was
- 23:3550525I thought I was the richest person in the world.
- 23:40That is the bonus, way more than that for just, you know, 80
- 23:44million guaranteed and whatnot and you still haven't done
- 23:47nothing. And what really?
- 23:49And I'm sure if you were owner, it would make you angry too.
- 23:53You pay a kid all this money and then they wind up getting hurt,
- 23:56you know, and they say no name CD Lamb, but you know that no
- 24:00rush to get back on the field. It seems like too, if people ask
- 24:03me, why would you think Tyree Kill was smiling?
- 24:06Because what? He got an 80% of his contract.
- 24:09He ain't got to play no more. He wanted out anyway.
- 24:11I believe it's just a different era.
- 24:14Mr. Baker All right, I'm going to put you in a position right
- 24:16now. You're a GM of GM of a football
- 24:18team, an NFL football team, and you have your pick on what
- 24:24quarterback you would pick right now and wide receiver, You have
- 24:27anybody you want. Who would you pick at the
- 24:30quarterback position and who would you pick at the wide
- 24:33receiver position to win a Super Bowl?
- 24:35Give me two guys. All right, I'm going.
- 24:37My quarterback is going to be Lamar Jackson.
- 24:40I just love what he brings to the game with his mobility and
- 24:44his ability to throw the ball down field.
- 24:46Now, wide receiver, I don't go for the cocky guys, man.
- 24:50Give me somebody like the kid from the Rams and the Joku.
- 24:53Is that his name? I'm sorry.
- 24:57Give me him. I like somebody like that who's
- 24:59consistent, makes plays. Ain't the fastest guy in the
- 25:04world as a total team player because I've never been a fan of
- 25:08these guys that that get in the end zone and start twerking like
- 25:11like women and stuff. Like just do what you're
- 25:13supposed to do and this first down, that's what you're
- 25:16supposed to do. You don't celebrate.
- 25:19You know, as a giant, you weren't a big fan of Odell
- 25:21Beckham then. I have to tell you, I wasn't,
- 25:25man. I didn't like all that because
- 25:27it's unnecessary. I can see your first touchdown.
- 25:30OK, you're excited, but you know what Parcells would have said to
- 25:33us if we did all these shenanigans here?
- 25:35Like, are you a football player or a dancer?
- 25:37Because the football player is not working for me.
- 25:41And you know, to think that guys, I know it's a different
- 25:43era and I may sound like a old fogey Stony, but you know, these
- 25:46guys go out of their way to plan these things that they do in the
- 25:52where they could be catching balls from the ball machine or
- 25:54something. But no, they want to practice.
- 25:56But you know, it's all about self marketing, I guess on
- 25:59social media and whatnot. I just don't get it.
- 26:02I'm old school. I don't think you're old school.
- 26:04I even me if I'm, if I'm playing in the NFL and I'm I'm trying to
- 26:08make a statement, I'm going to make sure I like, I'm going to
- 26:10be like Calvin Johnson. Did you see Calvin Johnson dance
- 26:13around the football field? As soon as he scored a
- 26:15touchdown, he hand the ball right to the referee and he ran
- 26:19to the sidelines. I never seen Calvin Johnson one
- 26:23time ever in his career, ever dance when he scored a
- 26:27touchdown, ever. I don't.
- 26:29I've I've never seen it. If somebody can find a video,
- 26:33I'll pay you $1000. You find a video right now of
- 26:37Calvin Johnson when he scores a touchdown doing some kind of
- 26:39crazy, stupid dance, I will pay you guys $1000.
- 26:43You could send it to me. I promise you, you could book
- 26:46it. I will send you $1000 because
- 26:48I've never seen it and I'm I follow Calvin Johnson.
- 26:51And people always ask me, Baker, what was your touchdown dance?
- 26:54I said, first of all, I'm the rhythmless brother.
- 26:56I can't rhythm. I don't have any rhythm.
- 26:59So I never did dance or anything.
- 27:01But I did spike the ball on occasion because defensive backs
- 27:04were talking a lot, a lot of noise, but never showboating and
- 27:08trying to show them up like these kids do today, man.
- 27:11But you know, it's a different ball game and the coaches allow
- 27:14it because their jobs are on the line.
- 27:16And if these kids don't perform, they lose their jobs.
- 27:19So that I guess they let them get away with it all.
- 27:21Right, Steven, last question for me.
- 27:23And we're going to let you go and I would love to get you on
- 27:25again and we'll have a lot of fun with you.
- 27:27And the next time you come on, we'll have job on.
- 27:30Job was moving right now he's moving three houses.
- 27:33His father passed away so he's moving all the stuff out of his.
- 27:36Father's house. Yeah, he's he's if you know
- 27:39anybody that knows the Jabba story, his father was very, very
- 27:42important, very, very close with him.
- 27:44He was everything them. And his father passed away about
- 27:46a year ago. And Jabba's been dealing with
- 27:49that and, and trying to get, you know, his life together from it.
- 27:52So it's hard. I I lost my father nine years
- 27:56ago. So I know all about that.
- 27:57They all up there high fiving each other today man.
- 27:59Absolutely. All right.
- 28:01Top running backs of all time. And I and, and I know there's
- 28:04that. I saw a picture recently and it
- 28:06had Barry Sanders sitting in the crowd.
- 28:08He had Walter Payton bowing down to him, OJ Simpson and I think
- 28:14Emmett Smith and somebody else. Who do you think?
- 28:17Oh, oh, I'm sorry, Brown. Also, who do you think is the
- 28:21best running back of all time? You know, that is such a hard
- 28:26question. Man, I want to.
- 28:27I want to ask you. I want to ask you.
- 28:29I know. All right.
- 28:31Well, I'm going to. I can't answer that because for
- 28:34excitement it was Barry Sanders, all right?
- 28:37Walter Payton, Sweetness, man. I used to hold the ball like him
- 28:40in college until I got to the pros and Parcells cussed me out
- 28:44and told me not to hold it like that anymore.
- 28:46On current returns, Jim Brown, I'll never get the great John
- 28:50Fassinder when he says if you, I don't know if you guys know who
- 28:53John Fassinder is. He's known as the voice of God.
- 28:57And the way he narrated, he was like, I thought Superman was
- 29:01white and lived in New York City, but I found out he's black
- 29:04and he's from Cleveland. And that was Jim Brown, bro.
- 29:06And Jim Brown was everybody was targeting it and they knew he
- 29:10was getting the ball and they still couldn't stop him.
- 29:12So I used to say to myself, little as I was, I said I'm a
- 29:16run like Jim Brown and Walter Payton and those were my 2
- 29:20heroes. Do you know where, Jim?
- 29:22Do you know where Jim Brown's from?
- 29:25I know he went to Syracuse. Do you know where he's from?
- 29:28Do you know where he he was born?
- 29:30No. Right here.
- 29:33Long Island, New York. No way.
- 29:35Yes, he was. Long Island, New York.
- 29:38Yes, he was. He's from Long Island, New York.
- 29:41You could look that. Up, I got an I will.
- 29:42I got another tidbit for you. You know lacrosse, right?
- 29:45He played. You know why they twirl it like
- 29:48this? No.
- 29:50Jim Brown used to pin that thing to his chest and run all the
- 29:54way. And they made the rule.
- 29:56Yeah, Google it. They had to.
- 29:57I'll look at it right now. Wow, really.
- 30:00OK. Look it up.
- 30:04But now Jim Brown was a beast, man.
- 30:06I really respected his game. I love those old highlights.
- 30:09I actually still watch those highlights, man.
- 30:11Listening to John. Yeah.
- 30:12Now with the advent of AI, I always wanted John Fassinder to
- 30:17say my name. I'm going to figure out how to
- 30:19do it because they did it with Saquan Barkley.
- 30:21John Fassinder narrated his touchdown in the playoffs in the
- 30:24snow. Just so everybody knows, he
- 30:26played in high school at Manhasset.
- 30:28He is from Long Island, New York.
- 30:30Jim Brown from Manhasset High School here in New York.
- 30:36Okay, so, so just just a little titbit for you guys.
- 30:39If he didn't know about Jim Brown, he is from Long Island.
- 30:42So one of the greatest runbacks of all time.
- 30:44And by the way, you know, somebody, a basketball player
- 30:47that came from, played for Roosevelt, you know, I'm talking
- 30:49about, I do not Doctor Jay is from Long Island, too.
- 30:53Out of here, Doctor. Jay is from Long Island.
- 30:55Yes he is. Wow, yes he is.
- 30:57Wow, I didn't know. That played for Roosevelt, Yes,
- 30:59he did. I gotta throw you some current
- 31:02curveballs, man. I want to help you out, you
- 31:04know. And I take it you're from Long
- 31:06Island? I am from Long Island.
- 31:08Yes, I am born and raised, baby born and raised.
- 31:11I've been all over the world, but born and raised.
- 31:14But Steve, we really appreciate you, man, and I think you're
- 31:18such a great personality. I mean, some of your takes and
- 31:21your tidbits are just fantastic. You, you really do.
- 31:24This is something that you should definitely look into
- 31:26doing. I think you have the personality
- 31:28to do it. No, thank you man.
- 31:30And you guys are great too. It feels like I'm just talking
- 31:33to you guys like we're just couple of guys talking sports,
- 31:36man. And I, I love it.
- 31:37I'm, I'm not just wearing this because I'm on here today.
- 31:40I wear my New York Giants stuff every freaking day, offseason or
- 31:44on season. So thank you very much and you
- 31:47guys continued success and I'm always here for you.
- 31:50You're the man. Thank you, Steven.
- 31:52And by the way, I'm not a Giant fan, but I'm a fan of you.
- 31:55So if, if you know what I might do, I might buy a Giant jersey
- 31:59with your name on it. No, I'll, I'll call, I'll I'll
- 32:03get your nickname put on the back of it the touchdown maker.
- 32:06All right. Well, I will send you a jersey,
- 32:09how about that? That sounds good to me.
- 32:11I would love it, and I will. I'll give it to you.
- 32:15Sign it up. I'll frame it.
- 32:16I'll put it in the studio. You got it buddy.
- 32:20You're the man and and we'll get together one of these days when
- 32:24you come back to New York, we'll get together and we would love
- 32:26it. And Jabba, you know, we're going
- 32:28to be doing something at Carmine's sometime in the
- 32:30holiday. Maybe we'll get you to come down
- 32:32and and do a live interview for the giant fans at Carmine's, eat
- 32:35some dinner, you bring your wife and we'll hang out.
- 32:38Now where's Carmine's at? Carmine's in Atlantic City,
- 32:40Manhattan. Manhattan.
- 32:43Yes, I've never been to that one.
- 32:45Yeah, so it's very, it's very well known.
- 32:47So we, we, we just had we had the world's famous chef from,
- 32:51you know, the chef from Carmine's on the show last week
- 32:54and I kind of pitched it to him and he was like, done, let's do
- 32:58it. So and I said we'll bring some
- 33:00guests, we'll bring some guests. So why not bring some ex Giants,
- 33:03some ex Yankees and show up and and and have a fun time with the
- 33:08fans and, and give away some giveaways and have just fun.
- 33:11You know that's what we want. To do sounds fine to me.
- 33:13Please keep me informed. Absolutely.
- 33:15Thank you, Steven. All right, take it easy, speedy.
- 33:19Thanks man, always fun having you having fun having you man.
- 33:23Love the ring? You have them.
- 33:25You have them stuttering Steven, I know what you did to him.
- 33:27I mean, it's like. It's the gaming chair, clearly.
- 33:33It's really the gaming chair. Why You play games?
- 33:36You play video games. Oh no, y'all don't play games,
- 33:39do you? I'm I'm PS five.
- 33:40I got I got I play Madden, I play Call of Duty, I play World
- 33:46of Warcraft. I got a gaming PC.
- 33:49I I'm a hardcore gamer real talk.
- 33:52Well. You definitely look like one,
- 33:54that's for damn sure. Stephen Banker, ladies and
- 34:00gentlemen, Super Bowl champion, New York Giants.
- 34:03Fantastic. The touchdown maker, I call him
- 34:08the play shaker. How's that?
- 34:10I like it. I love it.
- 34:11He's shaking and baking well. He's not going to do it on the
- 34:13football field, but he'll do it off the football field there.
- 34:16You go in Madden, come see me. There you go.
- 34:19Come and see him and he's like, he's like ranked 95 on his game.
- 34:24The touchdown maker is ranked 95.
- 34:26He made sure he's ranked 95 anyway.
- 34:29And make sure not to celebrate the touchdown.
- 34:33He'll just bow. He'll just bow down, give up a
- 34:36curtsy, give him a little curtsy.
- 34:38But he's fantastic. He's really, really fantastic.
- 34:42He was a great get Speedy, good job.
- 34:45I like it. Now that was Nathan.
- 34:46That was Nathan's get. That was Nathan's get.
- 34:48He's fantastic. He was fantastic.
- 34:51He was really, really good. Great personality and straight
- 34:56to the point. And dude, he didn't hold back on
- 34:58anything we asked him. He pretty much gave you an
- 35:01answer and he he gave it. He stuck it right to us.
- 35:04He stuck it to me, that's for damn sure.
- 35:06But thank you to Stephen Baker. I really appreciate him for
- 35:09joining us. And unfortunately we didn't have
- 35:11job up because job is moving, but that was a great interview.
- 35:15Definitely one of my favorite ones we've had in a while.
- 35:17So thank you to Stephen Baker. I really appreciate you and
- 35:21looking forward to getting him. If we if we really do the
- 35:23Carmine thing and I think we're going to work on that, we should
- 35:27definitely reach out to Steven and have him come out and hang
- 35:31out with us. I think he'd have a lot of fun
- 35:32with us. So it'll be fun.
- 35:36How about you fish? Not so many people are going to
- 35:38turn down some Carmine's, you know.
- 35:39No, not at all. You know, my Britney was telling
- 35:42me the other day she's like, that's not a place to do
- 35:45something like this. I say, well, it is going to be a
- 35:47place for this. We're going to make it a place.
- 35:50You know, we'll, we'll find a way to make it make it happen.
- 35:53You know what I mean? Like.
- 35:54We'll make it a, we'll make it a place.
- 35:56We'll make it a place, I promise.
- 35:58So it's definitely something and I think they'll have a lot of
- 36:02fun with us and, and you know, Jabba's not.
- 36:04Would you sing like any like Italian?
- 36:07Like ballads? Do you want me to scare people
- 36:09away? Well, I'm just saying, you know,
- 36:11like you do grab the mic very often when we go out.
- 36:15Yes, You know, I, I, I think that, you know, there would be
- 36:19some standards that need to be sung at a place like.
- 36:22Dude, I first of all, I just want to let everybody know that
- 36:25I did a wedding. I did 2 weddings this weekend
- 36:27and I broke it down Saturday night at this wedding at the
- 36:32contour hall. And my boy, yes, if he's
- 36:35listening, James, DJ, we killed it.
- 36:38I was breaking. I was doing all crazy stuff.
- 36:41I was doing a robot. I was doing some crazy, crazy.
- 36:44I'm a dancer, man. I love to dance.
- 36:46So if if there's a dance floor and I can entertain people, I'm
- 36:49going to do it. So that's all I'm going to say
- 36:51about that. All right, ladies and gentlemen
- 36:53are save your tears Compliments. Mom, what's one thing?
- 36:59That you can't talk to me about my sexual fantasies?
- 37:02No, no say your sorry. It is not ideal.
- 37:06But if it's what means it is not ideal.
- 37:08But if it is not ideal. But if it is, what means?
- 37:11You get trouble standing double stamp.
- 37:12You can't dribble stamp a double stamp, Lloyd, you can't dribble
- 37:14stamp a double stamp. But but you guys, now it's time
- 37:21for save your tear. All right, guys, welcome to Save
- 37:28Your Tears, the results round on Monday.
- 37:32We call this the compliment chorus because we're going to
- 37:35say who won Week 6's action shortly and everyone who lost,
- 37:41starting with the lowest finisher ending with our second
- 37:43place finisher. We'll give 51% genuine
- 37:48compliments to the winner, even if they are not currently here
- 37:52with us in the studio. It'll be recorded for posterity.
- 37:56So here we go. Week 6 action.
- 37:59If you just take a look at the board, we already know who did
- 38:01well and who didn't. Kyler Murray was substituted for
- 38:03Jacoby Brissett. The only guy I couldn't
- 38:05substitute was Chris Godwin, who went out late.
- 38:08If you took Godwin, you got a big zero this week.
- 38:11Jonathan Taylor had a big. Week so to see.
- 38:14I got a big zero too. Egg Buca had a couple of catches
- 38:17in the game before he went down. Travis Hunter just kind of
- 38:21sucked. That wasn't that he didn't.
- 38:23He went down, he just kind of sucked and these backup, these
- 38:27tight ends did pretty well. Once again, it's a pretty loaded
- 38:31position. So let's see the results of save
- 38:34your tears. Jabba Chamberlain is the winner
- 38:39of week sixes Save Your Tears. Speedy PD came in second,
- 38:43followed by our intern Jared, who also couldn't join us
- 38:45tonight in. I came in last.
- 38:48I came in fourth. Kazak Buka.
- 38:49Tommy came in fifth and Errol. This is going to damage your
- 38:55FedEx Cup standings a little bit.
- 38:58Here came in last place, which means that you get to go first
- 39:03with your video. Note to 1 Mr. Jabba Chamberlain
- 39:08for his first place finish here in Week 6.
- 39:12All right, Jabba, over the last couple of months, we've built a
- 39:17good friendship and relationship.
- 39:19You're kind when you want to be. You're a pain in the ass all the
- 39:23time. But All in all, the personality
- 39:26that you bring to this show and the weight that you've lost and
- 39:31everything that you do inside and out when it comes to
- 39:34baseball and your quality of takes with baseball is superb.
- 39:38Congratulations, this will be the last time you win.
- 39:46All right, up next, Tommy. Scoops.
- 39:49All right, Mr. Chamberlain, Congrats.
- 39:51Congrats, Congrats. Is this Jabba's first time
- 39:53winning? The first time I think since I
- 39:55started this, I think he won the first or second one in the
- 39:57beginning, very beginning. OK, so it's been a while.
- 40:00Way, way back when, when was we were doing basketball or
- 40:03something? Yeah.
- 40:03OK, well, hey, Jabba, man, you did it.
- 40:06You know you haven't. You haven't been holding the
- 40:08crown for a minute. But now you reigned supreme, you
- 40:10know? And it sucks that you were over
- 40:12there moving your stuff. You got to do what you got to
- 40:14do. And hey, you did what you had to
- 40:17do for save your. Tears.
- 40:18So did what you had to do, what you had to do do do.
- 40:22You know what I'm saying? But yeah, there we go.

- 40:31All right. Ass Licker.
- 40:33Blowjob I am next, Jabba, as you know I'm and I think you embody
- 40:41this mantra that my football coach always said to us in a
- 40:44heavy Boston accent. Dare to be different.
- 40:48Dare to be great. And that's what you did as an
- 40:51athlete. I need to blow up.

- 41:32your first football. Makes my picker.
- 41:34Save your tears. Win.
- 41:35There was no coin necessary. It was all straight intelligence
- 41:38making some bold moves. Like Fish was saying, I didn't
- 41:41like Ryan. Thomas at the price.
- 41:43I didn't like Brian Thomas at the price of $4.00 at the time,
- 41:45but you are smarted us all sabermetric nerds as as you like
- 41:49to say all during our baseball segment and that was the
- 41:51difference between you and me. We had a lot of the similar
- 41:53picks, but I went with Pittman. Who I got to go back off.
- 41:56Fall this week and you took it to the top with Brian Thomas
- 41:59Junior along with Errol's guy Danny Dimes and Triumph with all
- 42:05the great Nebraska food that you smell my ass and all the great

- 43:32NFL quarterback. He played for Washington, the
- 43:34readers, the Bears and one other team I forget offhand, Jason
- 43:36Campbell will be joining the show.
- 43:38He now does Auburn Radio, radio broadcasting as well, and as a
- 43:41podcast on the Believe Network as well, which is the same as
- 43:44what our friend Bilal Powell. Has.
- 43:45Yeah. And just so everybody knows, we
- 43:47were asked to go on the Believe network and I decided two years
- 43:51ago, me and Speedy, I decided not to go on the believe network
- 43:54because I didn't like their offer.
- 43:56We were going to talk a little Nick's basketball at that point,
- 44:00but believe is doing some amazing things or a good podcast
- 44:04organization, a big organization.
- 44:05And they've got a lot of guys just like Blue wire with us.
- 44:08And thank you to Nick because Nick, Nick was behind all of
