- 0:47Speaker 1: Glad to have you with us here on a Monday,
- 0:49Speaker 1: brought to you by Central Texas Sports Medicine. We're gonna
- 0:52Speaker 1: hear a little bit from Mike Elco at the bottom
- 0:55Speaker 1: of this hour. Skip hollins Where joins us. He is
- 0:58Speaker 1: always a treat true cut crime author reporter for Texas Monthly.
- 1:05Speaker 1: His latest book is called She Kills. It's a compilation
- 1:09Speaker 1: of stories he has done over the last forty years
- 1:15Speaker 1: on women murderers. Skip Hollinsworth will join us, and we've
- 1:21Speaker 1: got the Writer's Roundtable coming your way in the second
- 1:24Speaker 1: hour of the program. Ah man, thank you, though, I
- 1:30Speaker 1: just have to have that. I don't know what happened
- 1:33Speaker 1: to those things good things. I don't have cheap pins.
- 1:37Speaker 1: I mean I do have cheap pins. I couldn't stand
- 1:40Speaker 1: having expensive pins because they just disappeared. But that's neither
- 1:44Speaker 1: here nor there. Mike Elcho announcing today that Leveon Moss
- 1:48Speaker 1: will miss, in his words, a significant period of time
- 1:53Speaker 1: with an angle injury. Elko says the injury is unrelated
- 1:57Speaker 1: to the knee that kept him out last year. He's
- 2:01Speaker 1: going to have it looked at. We'll kind of figure
- 2:03Speaker 1: it out. It certainly, says ilk will not end this season,
- 2:08Speaker 1: but it's going to be a significant amount of time.
- 2:13Speaker 1: Dan Hayes has been named the co defensive Lineman of
- 2:17Speaker 1: the Week for the Aggies win over Florida. He was
- 2:23Speaker 1: he was pretty good, had a strip, sack, fumble recovery.
- 2:29Speaker 1: Hayes had the team's top defensive grade according to Pro
- 2:32Speaker 1: Football Focus at ninety one, and log the top grade
- 2:38Speaker 1: on pass rush snaps at ninety two point three. Kickoff
- 2:43Speaker 1: time has been set for the Aggies and LSU at
- 2:48Speaker 1: Death Valley, and of course it's going to be a
- 2:50Speaker 1: night game. It'll be on ABC for a six thirty
- 2:54Speaker 1: kickoff on the twenty fifth. This coming week, A and
- 2:58Speaker 1: M is innam to take on Arkansas at twoint thirty
- 3:02Speaker 1: on EESPD. Let's see what else do we need to know?
- 3:12Speaker 1: That's enough for that. After a week of chaos surrounding
- 3:16Speaker 1: North Carolina football program, a week I think it's been
- 3:20Speaker 1: all year, Bill Belichick says, reports of my looking for
- 3:25Speaker 1: a buyout or trying to leave her categorically faults. There's
- 3:29Speaker 1: zero truth to any of that. I'm glad I'm here.
- 3:32Speaker 1: We're working toward our goals. We believe very much in
- 3:35Speaker 1: the process. We need to keep working and grinding, and
- 3:39Speaker 1: that's exactly what we're doing. A little bit unusual that
- 3:44Speaker 1: attending the news conference today was the Chancellor Lee Roberts,
- 3:49Speaker 1: the athletic director Bubba Cunningham, and a host of other
- 3:55Speaker 1: high level administrators. Meanwhile, the speculation game is in full
- 4:02Speaker 1: force with James Franklin being forced out over the weekend.
- 4:07Speaker 1: Matt Rule is the name that keeps coming up. It's
- 4:13Speaker 1: his alma mater. Let's see, I absolutely love it. Here,
- 4:21Speaker 1: he said of Nebraska. I want us to continue to
- 4:24Speaker 1: take the steps needed for us to turn this thing
- 4:27Speaker 1: into a beast. Players all across the country want to
- 4:30Speaker 1: come here. We have the best facilities, we have elite fans.
- 4:34Speaker 1: I'm looking at the future. I love this place. We'll
- 4:41Speaker 1: see all right, Mariners, blue Jays underway in the top
- 4:49Speaker 1: of the first with the big dumper on deck. Last
- 4:55Speaker 1: night he rushed one and the Mariners took care of
- 5:02Speaker 1: the blue Jays. And by the way, who is it
- 5:06Speaker 1: in the Major League office that thought this was a
- 5:12Speaker 1: great schedule for the Mariners to play Saturday night, fly
- 5:19Speaker 1: across the country, get in at five or six am
- 5:23Speaker 1: Sunday morning, and play a game last night, in a
- 5:29Speaker 1: game this afternoon before the Dodgers and Brewers ever played
- 5:34Speaker 1: Game one. Who comes up with this stuff? Man? I
- 5:41Speaker 1: would be upset if I were a member of the
- 5:44Speaker 1: Mariners organization. But unfortunately for them, they're the Mariners. They're
- 5:49Speaker 1: not the Yankees. The Yankees would not have played that schedule.
- 5:54Speaker 1: Padres about out early a postseason. And today San Diego
- 6:01Speaker 1: skipper Mike Schildt, who has managed a team for a
- 6:05Speaker 1: couple of years. In two years, two pair of two
- 6:10Speaker 1: postseason appearances is leaving. He said the baseball grind has
- 6:18Speaker 1: taken a severe toll on him. Mike, I know what
- 6:26Speaker 1: you mean. This radio grind takes a severe toll on me.
- 6:31Speaker 1: But hey, we got to keep going out there. A
- 6:36Speaker 1: judge in Downtown Brian has ruled in favor of Rashaan
- 6:42Speaker 1: Ag and granted a temporary restraining order for him to
- 6:48Speaker 1: be able to play for A and M this year.
- 6:54Speaker 1: There seems to be not much of a chance that
- 6:59Speaker 1: they be able to set a trial date before the
- 7:01Speaker 1: end of the season, which means they picked the right
- 7:06Speaker 1: judge in the right venue to get a Texas A
- 7:08Speaker 1: and M basketball player granted a tro to play for
- 7:13Speaker 1: Texas A and M this year. Ag on the stand
- 7:18Speaker 1: said he stands to make one point two million dollars
- 7:24Speaker 1: this season. Pretty good schoons.
- 7:30Speaker 4: Now.
- 7:30Speaker 1: Of course, he also said he'd make zero dollars if
- 7:35Speaker 1: he didn't play well. Duh. The media that covers SEC
- 7:42Speaker 1: basketball predicted a finish like this number sixteen, South Carolina,
- 7:49Speaker 1: number fifteen, LSU number fourteen, Georgia number thirteen, Texas A
- 7:54Speaker 1: and M number twelve, Oklahoma eleven, Vanderbilt ten, Mississippi, State nine,
- 7:59Speaker 1: Tech is eight, Ole Mess seven, Missouri six, Auburn five,
- 8:03Speaker 1: Arkansas four, Alabama three, Tennessee two, Kentucky and the defending
- 8:09Speaker 1: national champs Florida. First team All SEC Alex Condon. He'll
- 8:14Speaker 1: be one hundred and three years old when the season
- 8:16Speaker 1: starts next month. Josh Hubbard Otago Away of Kentucky to
- 8:24Speaker 1: Hode Pettiford. He'll be one hundred and two when the
- 8:26Speaker 1: season starts this next month at Auburn and Laberon Philon
- 8:32Speaker 1: junior at Alabama. Player of the Year otego Away No
- 8:39Speaker 1: Aggie's on the first three teams, and the AP Top
- 8:45Speaker 1: twenty five College Basketball poll is out. The Purdue boiler
- 8:51Speaker 1: Makers won the fighting Kelvin Sampson's two, Florida, Yukon four,
- 9:02Speaker 1: the Johnnies five, Duke six, What's wrong with Duke six?
- 9:09Speaker 1: Michigan BYU, Kentucky, Texas Tech, Arkansas's at fourteen, Alabama's at fifteen,
- 9:19Speaker 1: Tennessee is at eighteen, Auburn is at twenty. So a
- 9:26Speaker 1: nice representation, not quite what it was last year, but
- 9:31Speaker 1: a nice representation for the SEC to start the season. Okay,
- 9:35Speaker 1: I'm going to take a break. I'm going to come back.
- 9:37Speaker 1: We're going to talk to the Week seven winner of

- 11:12Speaker 6: laps led here in twenty twenty five thirty one laps
- 11:15Speaker 6: to go a massive wreck when William Byron slammed into

- 11:25Speaker 6: The twenty four car was obliterated big wreck on the

- 13:13Speaker 1: name engraved on the cop and one of the few
- 13:17Speaker 1: ever to post a win for the regular season and
- 13:22Speaker 1: a win for the bowl season in the same year.
- 13:27Speaker 1: He has Buck Anderson. Buck, you've been away too long.
- 13:31Speaker 3: Man, I didn't know all that. Thanks for calling.
- 13:33Speaker 4: I appreciate it.
- 13:34Speaker 1: Well that's been it's been eleven years, so you would
- 13:36Speaker 1: have forgotten all of that.
- 13:39Speaker 13: Easily.
- 13:40Speaker 1: I mean I had to look on the trophy to
- 13:41Speaker 1: get the twenty fourteen on.
- 13:43Speaker 3: There, so that's when it was fourteen.
- 13:45Speaker 1: Yeah, it just seems like yesterday, didn't it.
- 13:49Speaker 3: Yeah, not much has happened between them.
- 13:51Speaker 1: Yeah, now you hadn't had anything happened between then and
- 13:54Speaker 1: now none us have no How you doing?
- 13:59Speaker 3: I'm doing all right?
- 13:59Speaker 6: Man?
- 14:00Speaker 3: How are you got?
- 14:01Speaker 1: We're hanging in Uh? Yeah, So I haven't called your name, Buck.
- 14:08Speaker 1: It's it's been a while, and I know you've been
- 14:11Speaker 1: pretty consistent playing.
- 14:14Speaker 3: Yeah, I play every year. I think I've played every
- 14:15Speaker 3: year since I moved a conversation in six and nice.
- 14:20Speaker 3: I looked at my records and it said the first
- 14:22Speaker 3: one was in eight. Okay, guys, and then we played
- 14:25Speaker 3: the tap a lot. Yeah didn't there?
- 14:28Speaker 1: Yep? I mean you you were like the picking guru
- 14:33Speaker 1: of the Brasis Valley.
- 14:36Speaker 3: I have a peach too early, apparently, although my talk
- 14:40Speaker 3: picked up an acron this week.
- 14:41Speaker 1: Hey, how are you doing overall this year?
- 14:45Speaker 3: I'm about in your field. This last weekend was good.
- 14:48Speaker 3: I moved up to about twenty eth.
- 14:50Speaker 1: Wow, I'm not even close.
- 14:53Speaker 3: I was losing every game, possibly to the weirdest thing,
- 14:57Speaker 3: but that's the way it goes.
- 14:58Speaker 1: Oh my gosh, I'm just I've been terrible, Buck, No, no,
- 15:03Speaker 1: this is a hard year. Well, if I've got a
- 15:07Speaker 1: champion telling me it's a hard year, it must be
- 15:09Speaker 1: a hard year. So that helps a little bit. So
- 15:12Speaker 1: I know you're out of town, I'm not going to
- 15:14Speaker 1: give you a restaurant gift certificate from here, although I
- 15:17Speaker 1: know you will come in every now and then. I'm
- 15:19Speaker 1: going to give you Buck. I know you're a reader, yes,
- 15:22Speaker 1: and I'm going to give you a book that I
- 15:23Speaker 1: just loved. It's called Baddest Man, The Making of Mike
- 15:28Speaker 1: Tyson by Mark Kriegle.
- 15:31Speaker 4: Love it.
- 15:32Speaker 6: It is.
- 15:34Speaker 1: Really an interesting read.
- 15:37Speaker 3: Oh man, I appreciate it.
- 15:38Speaker 4: Thank you.
- 15:39Speaker 1: Yeah, we're going to get that in the mail to you. Okay. Now,
- 15:44Speaker 1: if you come back and win the trophy this year,
- 15:47Speaker 1: we're gonna have to find a day to present it
- 15:52Speaker 1: to you.
- 15:52Speaker 3: I will gladly make the trip. I actually go through
- 15:55Speaker 3: there often when I'm going to Houston. Yeah, I need
- 15:58Speaker 3: to be on that side of town. But I've come
- 16:00Speaker 3: for lots of reasons. I love coming to college.
- 16:02Speaker 1: Tex Buck Anderson is our Week seven winner. By the way,
- 16:08Speaker 1: he was nine and one. The one game he missed
- 16:11Speaker 1: I thought was the only sure shot of the whole
- 16:13Speaker 1: weekend in the.
- 16:14Speaker 3: End, and organ me too.
- 16:17Speaker 1: I mean I thought that was just like this is
- 16:19Speaker 1: why I don't bet sports, bod Yeah, I mean what happened,
- 16:25Speaker 1: And man, I don't know.
- 16:27Speaker 3: That was a crazy game. And I you know, I
- 16:29Speaker 3: got lucky on a couple of ones. The Cowboys I
- 16:32Speaker 3: got lucky on. And I'll pick pictures sometimes just to
- 16:37Speaker 3: feel good about going to Ted because if they lose
- 16:40Speaker 3: I'm still okay, sorry about that.
- 16:44Speaker 1: Yeah, well, I just lost almost every game I picked
- 16:47Speaker 1: this last week, Buck, so I'm glad to give you
- 16:50Speaker 1: this book. It's good to catch up. One of these
- 16:52Speaker 1: days you need to call me and we'll get this
- 16:55Speaker 1: in the mail to you.
- 16:56Speaker 3: Thanks man, I appreciate it. You have a hell hodel
- 16:59Speaker 3: the game for me.
- 17:00Speaker 1: Thank you. Buck. All right, Buddy, Buck Anderson Week seven winner.
- 17:04Speaker 1: Now it's on the week eight. We don't stop around here.
- 17:08Speaker 1: You taught BYU The Holy War is the tie breaker.
- 17:12Speaker 1: Brenham Rudder Hendrickson Console LSU, Vanderbilt, Oh, Miss Georgia, USC,
- 17:18Speaker 1: Notre Day Baylor, TCU.
- 17:20Speaker 14: Oh.
- 17:20Speaker 1: Those schools do not like each other, the Baptists and
- 17:24Speaker 1: the Christians. They hate each other. SMU Clemson. SMU has
- 17:29Speaker 1: the longest ACC Conference winning streak at eighteen games. Bet
- 17:34Speaker 1: you didn't know that an l Arkansas had Washington in Dallas.
- 17:39Speaker 1: Remember when they used to be the Redskins and that
- 17:41Speaker 1: was a fun rivalry. Yeah barely, all right. Friday's fairless
- 17:45Speaker 1: football forecast contests brought you brought you by Zwernemann Flooring
- 17:54Speaker 1: and Chad Jones Law. Okay, enough of that, let's get
- 18:00Speaker 1: to today. Coach Elko visits with the media on Mondays
- 18:04Speaker 1: after games. We carry it live on the Zone. We're
- 18:08Speaker 1: going to carry part of what he had to say today,
- 18:11Speaker 1: including I believe this section talks about the Levy on
- 18:16Speaker 1: Moss injury. And then at about fifteen minutes we're going
- 18:21Speaker 1: to visit with Skip Hollandsworth and his new book, She
- 18:24Speaker 1: Kills Question on the Zone.
- 18:26Speaker 10: Great, thanks for coming out, you know, recapping the Florida game.
- 18:31Speaker 4: Start with our players of the week.
- 18:34Speaker 10: Scout Team Defensive Player of the Week was Tommy Colligan.
- 18:37Speaker 10: Scout Team Offensive Player of the Week was offensive lineman
- 18:40Speaker 10: Nelson Maguire and really kind of a shout out to
- 18:43Speaker 10: our entire offensive line scout group. Those kids are doing
- 18:46Speaker 10: a phenomenal job with our weekly practices. They've had a
- 18:49Speaker 10: really really strong three weeks. And then Aiden Herrera was
- 18:53Speaker 10: our Special Teams Player of the Week Lineman of the Week. Offensively,
- 18:58Speaker 10: we gave it to the entire offensive line and I
- 19:00Speaker 10: thought that was probably the most complete offensive line performance
- 19:04Speaker 10: that we've had since I've been here, and so it
- 19:07Speaker 10: was hard to single out one guy. We played penalty free,
- 19:10Speaker 10: we played sack free, we played TfL free we ran
- 19:13Speaker 10: the ball for over one hundred and eighty yards, and
- 19:16Speaker 10: so we just kind of gave it to the whole group.
- 19:19Speaker 10: Defensive Lineman of the Week and also the sec CO
- 19:21Speaker 10: Defensive Lineman of the Week was Dayon Hayes. And then
- 19:25Speaker 10: in terms of players of the week on offense, we
- 19:27Speaker 10: went with Nate Borkicher. You know, obviously had a couple
- 19:30Speaker 10: of big catches and those were key, but some of
- 19:33Speaker 10: the things that he did late in the game in
- 19:34Speaker 10: the run game, in terms of setting edges and establishing
- 19:37Speaker 10: some push at the line of scrimmage really helped solve
- 19:40Speaker 10: that game away. Defensively, we went with Albert Regis, who
- 19:44Speaker 10: just continues to be an unhralded force in the middle,
- 19:48Speaker 10: extremely difficult to block in the run game, got involved
- 19:51Speaker 10: with a sack and caused fumble as well.
- 19:54Speaker 4: And then Special Teams Player of the Week was Tyler White.
- 19:56Speaker 10: Thought he hit some critical punts and I thought the
- 19:58Speaker 10: one he hit at the end of the half when
- 20:01Speaker 10: we were pinned back and they had a chance to
- 20:03Speaker 10: get points on the board going in halftime, he had
- 20:05Speaker 10: a fifty one yarder that they had to fair catch.
- 20:08Speaker 10: I thought that was a really big moment in the
- 20:10Speaker 10: game and a really big punt, and so you know,
- 20:13Speaker 10: it's not a whole lot different than we talked about
- 20:15Speaker 10: after the game. I thought we played a complete, balanced game.
- 20:18Speaker 10: I thought we was the first time where you know,
- 20:22Speaker 10: we went from from good to bad to good, and
- 20:24Speaker 10: those things are good signs. You know, when things are
- 20:27Speaker 10: good and you stay good, you know that obviously happens.
- 20:30Speaker 10: But when you can, you know, have some adversity on
- 20:32Speaker 10: defense and then straighten it out and finish the right way,
- 20:35Speaker 10: when you can start well on offense, have some adversity
- 20:38Speaker 10: and then find a way to put the game away.
- 20:40Speaker 10: And I think those things are all good signs of
- 20:43Speaker 10: growth and kind of where we're headed. And then just
- 20:45Speaker 10: the thing that I'm probably most proud of, just that
- 20:47Speaker 10: you put numbers on this, is that we finished the game.
- 20:50Speaker 10: You know, we outscored them ten to nothing in the
- 20:52Speaker 10: fourth quarter. I thought we were the stronger team down
- 20:56Speaker 10: the stretch, and you know, they go for it on
- 20:58Speaker 10: a fourth and six.
- 21:00Speaker 4: Stop them.
- 21:01Speaker 10: We run twenty of the next twenty one plays and
- 21:04Speaker 10: eat up almost eleven minutes of clock and give them
- 21:07Speaker 10: the ball back down seventeen with less than a minute
- 21:10Speaker 10: twenty left in the game. And if you can play
- 21:13Speaker 10: football like that, you're gonna win a lot of games.
- 21:15Speaker 10: And so now it's on to Arkansas, which will be
- 21:18Speaker 10: a real tremendous challenge for us.
- 21:20Speaker 4: Offensively, they've been playing elite football.
- 21:23Speaker 10: They're averaging over five hundred yards a game, their averaging
- 21:25Speaker 10: just under forty points a game. They have the second
- 21:28Speaker 10: fewest punts in the conference. They score they score a lot. Obviously,
- 21:33Speaker 10: Coach Petrino has done a phenomenal job calling offenses for
- 21:36Speaker 10: a really long time. Now as the interim head coach
- 21:39Speaker 10: returning to Fayetteville, you can imagine probably the emotion that
- 21:43Speaker 10: will be into that game for him and for that team,
- 21:45Speaker 10: and so we will get their best Defensively, they made
- 21:48Speaker 10: a change in coordinator going into the game last week.
- 21:51Speaker 10: Really thought they tried to streamline what they were doing,
- 21:55Speaker 10: put their kids in a position where they could be
- 21:57Speaker 10: confident in what they were doing and play fast. Would
- 22:00Speaker 10: anticipate that will continue to get better and better each week,
- 22:03Speaker 10: that they get more comfortable with what they're doing, and
- 22:05Speaker 10: so we're going to have our handful. Fate Bill is
- 22:08Speaker 10: going to be a really challenging place to play. Anytime
- 22:10Speaker 10: you go on the road in this conference, it's a
- 22:12Speaker 10: big challenge. And so this is going to be a
- 22:15Speaker 10: huge challenge for our program to go on and get
- 22:17Speaker 10: the next one. And so we'll look forward to a
- 22:19Speaker 10: great week of prep and a great opportunity to go
- 22:22Speaker 10: out next week and continue this thing moving in the
- 22:24Speaker 10: right direction.
- 22:25Speaker 4: So from there we'll open it up to questions. Coach
- 22:27Speaker 4: to the right third row.
- 22:28Speaker 6: David Mike.
- 22:30Speaker 12: I know it is a big emphasis in the offseason
- 22:32Speaker 12: to finish, and if you can elaborate a little bit
- 22:35Speaker 12: more on the team's ability to finish fourth quarters defensively
- 22:38Speaker 12: and offensively, seem like you're at your best controlling the temple,
- 22:42Speaker 12: controlling the game in the.
- 22:43Speaker 10: Fourth Yeah, I think that's you know, obviously, I think
- 22:46Speaker 10: you've got to give a lot of credit to Timmyrofat
- 22:48Speaker 10: and his staff. I think you've got a lot give
- 22:50Speaker 10: a lot of credit to our kids in terms of
- 22:53Speaker 10: how are they worked in the off season, and then
- 22:55Speaker 10: some of it just becomes and we talked about like
- 22:58Speaker 10: what comes from winning these games in the fourth quarter?
- 23:01Speaker 10: What comes from finding a way to win the game
- 23:03Speaker 10: against Notre Dame in the fourth quarter. I think you
- 23:05Speaker 10: get a confidence about how you play. And so there's
- 23:09Speaker 10: been times in the past where I've been here where
- 23:13Speaker 10: even last year quite a few times where it felt
- 23:16Speaker 10: real nervy in the fourth quarter and kids weren't certain
- 23:19Speaker 10: of what was going to happen. Right now, that field
- 23:24Speaker 10: is not there, you know, and we've got to work
- 23:25Speaker 10: hard to make sure it stays that way. But like
- 23:28Speaker 10: when we get into the fourth quarter, there's a confidence.
- 23:31Speaker 10: You can kind of see it on the sideline when
- 23:33Speaker 10: we switch from the third to the fourth quarter. There's
- 23:36Speaker 10: an energy about it that our guys know that they're
- 23:38Speaker 10: going to go into that quarter and be strong and
- 23:40Speaker 10: play well. And those are all critical factors to being
- 23:44Speaker 10: a winning program. Now again, like we talk all the
- 23:47Speaker 10: time like this, you know that's rented, you know, and
- 23:49Speaker 10: you've got to pay rent on it every week to
- 23:51Speaker 10: give yourself a chance to go do it again. But
- 23:54Speaker 10: certainly for the last few games, that has showed itself
- 23:56Speaker 10: to be really good.
- 23:57Speaker 1: We'll stay to the right Carter, Mike, sorry.
- 24:02Speaker 15: When you saw the schedule layout initially with heavy home
- 24:07Speaker 15: games first half of the season, heavy road games second half,
- 24:10Speaker 15: what was your kind of takeaway and do you have
- 24:12Speaker 15: a preference on whether you like it that way or
- 24:16Speaker 15: if you like it more staggered, where it's kind of
- 24:18Speaker 15: off and on.
- 24:19Speaker 10: Yeah, No, I mean it's at the end of the day, like,
- 24:23Speaker 10: no matter how the schedule shapes out, it's ultimately comes
- 24:27Speaker 10: down to how you perform that's gonna shape it.
- 24:30Speaker 1: Right.
- 24:30Speaker 10: Had we not handled business on the road in these
- 24:34Speaker 10: early games, then the schedule would look extremely daunting and
- 24:38Speaker 10: there'd be a lot of question marks around where we are.
- 24:41Speaker 10: You know, because we handled the schedule the right way early,
- 24:44Speaker 10: there's uncertainty about how we're going to do on the road.
- 24:47Speaker 10: You know, you flip it and who knows. It's probably
- 24:50Speaker 10: the same conversation. And so at the end of the day,
- 24:53Speaker 10: people talk a lot about schedules and scheduled difficulty and
- 24:57Speaker 10: you really don't know, and you just have to let
- 24:59Speaker 10: it play.
- 25:00Speaker 4: And I've said this too.
- 25:01Speaker 10: You know, there's a lot of conversation about where certain
- 25:06Speaker 10: teams in this conference are relative to each other. It's
- 25:11Speaker 10: so early to have any idea on any of that,
- 25:14Speaker 10: and so you just got to let teams play. You
- 25:16Speaker 10: got to get a much bigger sample size, you got
- 25:18Speaker 10: to get many more data points to figure out where
- 25:21Speaker 10: this whole thing is going to fill out. And so
- 25:23Speaker 10: to me, you don't really think like that. You just think, Okay,
- 25:27Speaker 10: we've got this game and we got to get ready
- 25:28Speaker 10: for it. And you know, the one thing that they
- 25:33Speaker 10: at least did was put the bye weeknd. So it's
- 25:35Speaker 10: not three straight road games that probably would have been
- 25:38Speaker 10: a little bit on the challenging side. Or the distance
- 25:41Speaker 10: of road games isn't quite as far as it could be.
- 25:44Speaker 10: You know, it's not like we're going out East twice
- 25:46Speaker 10: in a row. So to that point, I think probably
- 25:49Speaker 10: looked at some of the logistical parts of it and
- 25:51Speaker 10: didn't feel like it was that bad.
- 25:53Speaker 15: And with Le'Veon Moss, just when do you expect them
- 25:57Speaker 15: to be back in any update on his status?
- 25:59Speaker 10: Yeahright, I should have started with that. So that is
- 26:03Speaker 10: going to be out, probably for a significant period of time.
- 26:06Speaker 10: It's it's an unrelated injury to anything that he's been
- 26:08Speaker 10: dealing with, has nothing to do with last year, has
- 26:11Speaker 10: nothing to do what he'd been.
- 26:12Speaker 4: Dealing with earlier this year.
- 26:14Speaker 10: Uh, it's an isolated injury that happened on that tackle.
- 26:18Speaker 10: It's an ankle, not a knee, which is which is
- 26:20Speaker 10: a really positive sign. He's going to have to go
- 26:24Speaker 10: get it looked at and and we'll kind of figure
- 26:26Speaker 10: out where it's at. It certainly will not end his season,
- 26:30Speaker 10: but it's going to be a significant amount of time.
- 26:33Speaker 16: Coach to the left, fourth throw over, Rob Coach, can
- 26:37Speaker 16: you talk about the the importance of the depth in
- 26:41Speaker 16: at the running back position and and how at the
- 26:43Speaker 16: end you're you're just wearing teams down and and and
- 26:46Speaker 16: being able to put a fresh back in there and.
- 26:48Speaker 4: And they're all producing.
- 26:49Speaker 10: Yeah, and and it's it's we have a lot of
- 26:51Speaker 10: really talented players. It's why we talk a lot about
- 26:55Speaker 10: like just being ready. Like you know, again we we
- 26:57Speaker 10: always talked to the off. Our guys will tell you
- 27:00Speaker 10: I'm fairly blunt and honest when we have these conversations,
- 27:03Speaker 10: Like everybody wants the football, you know, and so we
- 27:05Speaker 10: go into last week with five tailbacks who all want
- 27:08Speaker 10: the ball twenty five times and are probably capable of
- 27:11Speaker 10: carrying it twenty five times, but we can't do that, right,
- 27:16Speaker 10: and so everybody just has to stay ready. And so
- 27:19Speaker 10: you know, all of a sudden, Lev goes down and
- 27:20Speaker 10: now has got to be the primary ball carrier, and
- 27:23Speaker 10: then that opens up some carries for a Mari and
- 27:26Speaker 10: for Jamarian to get in there, and they give us
- 27:28Speaker 10: some good runs. You know, Mari converts a third and short,
- 27:31Speaker 10: Jamarian converts a third and short, and then he gets
- 27:34Speaker 10: into four minute offense at the end of the game,
- 27:36Speaker 10: and now you know, we're able to put into a
- 27:38Speaker 10: fresh EJ. Smith out there, and we really trust his
- 27:41Speaker 10: ball security, and he rips off some some really good
- 27:44Speaker 10: runs and he's fresh and ready to go and ready
- 27:46Speaker 10: to do his job the way he needs to. And
- 27:48Speaker 10: so I think it's a credit to what Trooper Taylor
- 27:51Speaker 10: does with that group, and I think it's just a
- 27:53Speaker 10: credit to those kids that they just work and they're
- 27:55Speaker 10: ready to go when their numbers are called.
- 27:58Speaker 1: It's Coach Elco a little bit early today and with
- 28:01Speaker 1: the sad news that levy On Moss is out in
- 28:07Speaker 1: his words a significant amount of time but not season ending,
- 28:13Speaker 1: which like, okay, when you say a significant not a
- 28:17Speaker 1: time but not season ending, that kind of looks at
- 28:20Speaker 1: the Texas game, doesn't it. I mean, you might put
- 28:23Speaker 1: him in for Samford to knock off right, to get
- 28:26Speaker 1: three or four carries and knock off a little rust
- 28:28Speaker 1: if he is ready to do that these injuries. Sometimes
- 28:35Speaker 1: they have found ways with surgery, which I think to
- 28:41Speaker 1: a tongue of Lailoa went through that if I'm not mistaken,
- 28:45Speaker 1: and was back playing, you know pretty quickly. So yeah,
- 28:51Speaker 1: well we'll see what happens. Hate that he was he
- 28:55Speaker 1: was having an All American caliber See without question, an
- 29:02Speaker 1: all American caliber season was Le'Veon Moss. But will you
- 29:06Speaker 1: put Rubenowen's in? Not a bad trade off. Galeria has

- 32:23Speaker 13: I was just thinking we haven't done a Aggie murder
- 32:26Speaker 13: story in a long time. Are you going on down there?
- 32:31Speaker 13: You guys must be getting nicer.
- 32:33Speaker 1: You're not trying. You're not trying to encourage me, are
- 32:36Speaker 1: you no encouragement?
- 32:38Speaker 13: Now?
- 32:38Speaker 1: I don't want to be part of your stories. I'm
- 32:40Speaker 1: just telling you flat out, I do not want to
- 32:42Speaker 1: be part of your story.
- 32:44Speaker 13: Okay, give up again.
- 32:47Speaker 1: So in the book, which by the way, the first
- 32:52Speaker 1: chapter was released in Texas Monthly today on the millionaire
- 32:58Speaker 1: oil man and his his wife found fatally shot at
- 33:02Speaker 1: their mansion in Wichita Falls, Bobby and Abby BYRDS, you
- 33:06Speaker 1: write that that's kind of where your interest first peaked
- 33:11Speaker 1: with this crime stuff. Correct.
- 33:14Speaker 13: I was sixteen years old, and I was a whitebred
- 33:17Speaker 13: as they come. I didn't even know anybody who had
- 33:19Speaker 13: ever been arrested at that point in my life. And
- 33:23Speaker 13: I saw that headline on the front page of the
- 33:29Speaker 13: wich Selfall's paper and could not fathom that this was
- 33:35Speaker 13: happening within three miles of my house. He's one of
- 33:37Speaker 13: the richest oilmons in Texas. She was this beauty, a
- 33:41Speaker 13: former model, war name and Marcus Close. They had a
- 33:44Speaker 13: private jet that they flew from which suffalls to Dallas.
- 33:48Speaker 13: You know, classic oilmand lifestyle, And I don't know, I
- 33:53Speaker 13: just began to become obsessed because no one seemed to
- 33:56Speaker 13: know what had happened. Then the medical examine report came out.
- 34:00Speaker 13: It was that she had shot him and then turned
- 34:03Speaker 13: the gun on herself and shot herself. And so here
- 34:07Speaker 13: was this murder suicide that bewildered, trans terrified and transfixed everybody,
- 34:15Speaker 13: including me, and never solved.
- 34:19Speaker 17: Never.
- 34:20Speaker 13: Wow, somebody's got to know. But fifty years later, no
- 34:24Speaker 13: one's telling me about it.
- 34:25Speaker 1: And most of those people who are alive skip aren't
- 34:28Speaker 1: with us anymore.
- 34:30Speaker 10: I'm sorry what most.
- 34:31Speaker 1: Of those folks who might know something, they're probably not
- 34:36Speaker 1: with us anymore.
- 34:37Speaker 13: That's true. There's a few old people, Ohquader's around, old woman. Yeah,
- 34:44Speaker 13: you know, people who know how to hold the hide secrets.
- 34:47Speaker 1: Yep.
- 34:48Speaker 13: But none of them had read the first chapter of
- 34:50Speaker 13: the book and said, Okay, I'm going to call Hollins wor.
- 34:53Speaker 1: Right straight out.
- 34:56Speaker 18: Yeah.
- 34:57Speaker 6: Uh.
- 34:58Speaker 1: Lots of like stories flying around about unfaithfulness on both
- 35:04Speaker 1: of their parts, but again never quite proven, was it.
- 35:10Speaker 4: Never?
- 35:11Speaker 13: I mean, this is a classic example of being a reporter.
- 35:15Speaker 13: I heard ridiculous rumored about what had happened out there, Yeah,
- 35:21Speaker 13: and why she shot him, And you can't run him
- 35:26Speaker 13: because there's no no proof record, there's no police report,
- 35:31Speaker 13: there's no police chief saying this is what we think happens. Nothing. Yeah,
- 35:35Speaker 13: so it just goes to the wastebind, the Texas Monthly Wasteman.
- 35:44Speaker 1: I tell you, this is a story I don't think
- 35:47Speaker 1: I had ever read until I read the book. Was
- 35:51Speaker 1: the last ride of Cowboy Bob tell our listeners about
- 35:57Speaker 1: Peggy Joe Talis. First of all, what kind of then
- 36:00Speaker 1: was she?
- 36:02Speaker 13: Well? At the time, you know, she grew up in
- 36:05Speaker 13: Grand Prairie. She's feisty, She drove a little Fiat, she
- 36:11Speaker 13: loved to go to concerts on Lower Greenville and drink beer.
- 36:15Speaker 13: And she one day just got in the car and
- 36:19Speaker 13: drove to San Francisco to meet Lawrence Burlinghetti, the head
- 36:22Speaker 13: of that City Lights bookstore. And she just had one
- 36:25Speaker 13: of her friends that she just had the spirit in her.
- 36:29Speaker 13: And in nineteen ninety one, you know, one of the
- 36:36Speaker 13: things I would do at Texas Mouthley is tear out
- 36:39Speaker 13: articles from the newspapers. Yeah, and to think that this
- 36:43Speaker 13: might make a story for me to investigate. Sure, back then,
- 36:47Speaker 13: when we had newspapers like that, they could be torn out,
- 36:50Speaker 13: and I you know, she got there were these stories
- 36:58Speaker 13: about this cowboy, this man dress, this scwboy who was
- 37:01Speaker 13: robbing all these little banks. They finally, by luck, caught
- 37:05Speaker 13: him and it turned out to be a woman, a
- 37:07Speaker 13: middle aged woman named Peggy Joe Talon, the woman who
- 37:11Speaker 13: was livinged up in the Dallas single life in the seventies. Well,
- 37:16Speaker 13: I could not stop thinking about it, and you know,
- 37:21Speaker 13: called around, and finally a niece began to talk, and
- 37:28Speaker 13: someone else began to talk, and now came this story
- 37:31Speaker 13: that after she spent three years in prison, federal prison
- 37:35Speaker 13: for robbing banks as a young woman, now that she
- 37:40Speaker 13: was an older, middle aged woman. Seven years later, I
- 37:42Speaker 13: think she got out of prison on good behavior, she
- 37:45Speaker 13: started robbing banks again, dressed as a man, not as
- 37:50Speaker 13: a cowboy anymore, but as a man. And I'd just
- 37:56Speaker 13: thought about this. Her favorite movie, her niece told me,
- 37:59Speaker 13: was Which Can in the Sudden? That's kids, two guys
- 38:03Speaker 13: who you know, we're gonna go down in a blaze
- 38:06Speaker 13: of glory, that we're never going to rob poor people,
- 38:11Speaker 13: were never going to cause any violence. And in two
- 38:19Speaker 13: thousand and five, she had hit a number of those
- 38:24Speaker 13: banks in East Texas, and she didn't have a car,
- 38:28Speaker 13: but she had her old RV and she drove her
- 38:31Speaker 13: RV up into a bank parking lot, got out, said,
- 38:34Speaker 13: as did the teller, notes that this is a robbery.
- 38:36Speaker 13: Give me all your money, no bake bills. But the
- 38:39Speaker 13: tailor did give her some bake bills, and so those
- 38:42Speaker 13: exploded when you go through that red dye, when you
- 38:45Speaker 13: go through the gal to the door, and she began running.
- 38:53Speaker 13: She had hit the jackpot for her for small town bankrupt,
- 38:56Speaker 13: small time bankrupper. I think she got twelve thousand dollars
- 39:00Speaker 13: to tell her. But the alarm went off and she
- 39:03Speaker 13: got popped going through the door on the red dye.
- 39:07Speaker 13: But she still got in her RV to stay to
- 39:09Speaker 13: get away, and she drove cuttered up this hill, made
- 39:16Speaker 13: a turn or two, ended up in to call on
- 39:18Speaker 13: his back, and for reasons only God can explain. You know,
- 39:23Speaker 13: there was somebody there videotaping the whole thing, some neighbor.
- 39:29Speaker 13: The police were there there, so there was all kinds
- 39:31Speaker 13: of evidence of what happened that last moment when she
- 39:36Speaker 13: stepped out of her RV holding a gun and all
- 39:42Speaker 13: the police yelled, put your gun down, put your gun down,
- 39:46Speaker 13: put it down, And what happened next, I'll never forget,
- 39:51Speaker 13: And if you would like to know, go buy that
- 39:54Speaker 13: darn book.
- 39:55Speaker 1: Absolutely, It's just there's a lot of adnes in this story,
- 40:01Speaker 1: as you mentioned, a free spirited lady who always wanted more,
- 40:05Speaker 1: who never quite got more.
- 40:08Speaker 13: She didn't even want. She didn't want more the way
- 40:11Speaker 13: you and I was want. I just wanted enough money
- 40:14Speaker 13: to take that RV and get it to Florida Park
- 40:17Speaker 13: on the beach, or would get it to Mexico Park
- 40:19Speaker 13: on the Beach and be done with her life. She
- 40:22Speaker 13: cared nothing about money, about marriage, about children. But everybody
- 40:26Speaker 13: who met her she worked at the marina right before
- 40:29Speaker 13: her she staged her last robberies at Lake Ray Hubbard,
- 40:32Speaker 13: which is east of Towers, and people just liked her.
- 40:40Speaker 13: They liked that she was sort of an independent, but
- 40:43Speaker 13: nobody had any idea that the way she expressed that
- 40:47Speaker 13: independence was to go rob a bank. So here's the thing.
- 40:52Speaker 13: I've divided people in life in two categories. You walk
- 40:57Speaker 13: into a bank and you do your business and you
- 40:59Speaker 13: walk out, or you walk into your bank to the
- 41:03Speaker 13: bank and you find yourself checking out where the cameras
- 41:07Speaker 13: are just put the heck up. It not because you're
- 41:10Speaker 13: gonna rob it, but you always sort of want to
- 41:12Speaker 13: know what that bank has done to keep a robber
- 41:15Speaker 13: from hitting the loot. Did that make any sense?
- 41:20Speaker 1: Oh? Absolutely? And you know so many of these are
- 41:25Speaker 1: like you always see on the news, something terrible has happened,
- 41:29Speaker 1: and the neighbors always going. She was such a quiet person,
- 41:33Speaker 1: she was such a nice person. This is the last
- 41:36Speaker 1: person we ever would have suspected.
- 41:39Speaker 4: You know.
- 41:40Speaker 13: And if you read one of the stories in there
- 41:43Speaker 13: is about maybe next to Peggy Joe, my favorite character,
- 41:48Speaker 13: which is Nurse Vicky Jackson.
- 41:49Speaker 9: Oh my gosh, you know.
- 41:51Speaker 13: Her or know about her?
- 41:53Speaker 1: I mean I read the book.
- 41:54Speaker 13: Oh well, here is a woman, polite, soft.
- 42:01Speaker 1: Spoken Nlcona Nakona, Texas.
- 42:04Speaker 13: Lacona the smallest hospital in the state. It had twelve.
- 42:08Speaker 1: Beds us the dairy queen.
- 42:10Speaker 13: Every day went to the dairy queen dressed in her
- 42:14Speaker 13: nurse's uniform, which was always neatly pressed. She had twenty
- 42:17Speaker 13: five nurses uniforms. Wow, and she was a wallflower. She
- 42:27Speaker 13: was that kind of girl in high school that you know,
- 42:30Speaker 13: once you get out of high school, you can't remember
- 42:32Speaker 13: anything about her. And yet some kids they went to
- 42:36Speaker 13: high school with her, and she became a nurse, and
- 42:39Speaker 13: their parents would get sick and they would go visit
- 42:43Speaker 13: their parents in the hospital and they would get a
- 42:46Speaker 13: look at her and try to remember how they knew her.
- 42:49Speaker 13: And you know, she was always trying to find someone
- 42:52Speaker 13: to love her. Some guy asked her to dance one
- 42:56Speaker 13: night and his hand moved down her back to its
- 43:00Speaker 13: squeezed her little round bottom, and they fell in love,
- 43:05Speaker 13: or she thought they were falling in love when it
- 43:07Speaker 13: turned out that he was just going to try to
- 43:08Speaker 13: get some of her money. It was you know, lower
- 43:12Speaker 13: class white life, right, Yeah, and uh, one day she
- 43:18Speaker 13: decided to pull a carry from a Stephen King novel.
- 43:22Speaker 13: She began injecting patients with micro curium I think that's
- 43:27Speaker 13: how you say it, which is a drug that'll stop
- 43:30Speaker 13: your respiratory system until you're until so you can intubate
- 43:35Speaker 13: to someone and then you've got to have a doctor
- 43:38Speaker 13: there to revive you.
- 43:41Speaker 1: Step I will never understand how in two months time
- 43:48Speaker 1: at Nakona General Hospital, and how many beds did you say?
- 43:51Speaker 1: There were eighteen.
- 43:52Speaker 13: Twelve twelve beds maybe eighteen, maybe eighteen.
- 43:56Speaker 1: She murdered ten, most likely killed another ten and attempted
- 44:04Speaker 1: five more until they finally figured out, hey, maybe something's
- 44:11Speaker 1: not right here.
- 44:13Speaker 13: Listen. She would escort relatives of the decease back to
- 44:18Speaker 13: their car. At one point, she showed up at someone's
- 44:22Speaker 13: funeral who she had killed with a cast role. And
- 44:27Speaker 13: you know, at the same time.
- 44:29Speaker 1: I wouldn't have wanted to eat that cast role.
- 44:35Speaker 13: You know, the manager of the dairy queen was not
- 44:38Speaker 13: making it, was not making any money because he would
- 44:40Speaker 13: give the citizens free paper plates and utensils for their
- 44:46Speaker 13: reception receptuh funeral.
- 44:49Speaker 1: And they're running out, they're running out of products.
- 44:51Speaker 13: They ran out of product. The post sure the newspaper
- 44:55Speaker 13: was having the time of his life because he was
- 44:57Speaker 13: running up to six obituaries a week.
- 45:01Speaker 1: I mean, it's not funny. It's it's not funny.
- 45:05Speaker 13: It is funny. You and I have the same attitude,
- 45:10Speaker 13: which is that this tragedy, these this young woman, this woman,
- 45:16Speaker 13: this nerve so you could feel a great deal of
- 45:18Speaker 13: sympathy for because people just ignored her. She took care
- 45:23Speaker 13: of them, She cleaned up their diarrhea from it. And
- 45:28Speaker 13: finally it wasn't that she had moon chaws and byproxy
- 45:30Speaker 13: or you know, she was anything like that where she
- 45:34Speaker 13: was trying to hurt someone so that she could rush
- 45:36Speaker 13: in at the last minute and save them. She genuinely
- 45:42Speaker 13: wanted to kill every single one of those people. Where
- 45:46Speaker 13: did that come from? Where did that come from? I
- 45:50Speaker 13: mean the guy, it's my wife who's trying to get
- 45:54Speaker 13: in on the conversations from the other end of the house.
- 45:58Speaker 4: Well, I was just trying to help.
- 46:02Speaker 1: Why do skip? Why do people talk to you? How
- 46:06Speaker 1: do you get people to answer questions?
- 46:09Speaker 13: Hold on, seem I'm on the phone doing a radio interview.
- 46:14Speaker 13: She thought I was talking to my editor or.
- 46:16Speaker 1: Somebody, somebody not important. But you tell her she's talking
- 46:19Speaker 1: to somebody really important.
- 46:25Speaker 13: Okay, what was your question?
- 46:26Speaker 1: My question is why do people talk to you?
- 46:31Speaker 13: Well, I have no idea. I just think you've got
- 46:33Speaker 13: to show compassion, even to the worst of the killers
- 46:39Speaker 13: you run across. And it's not to be deceptive, it's
- 46:45Speaker 13: you know, an editor once told me that you need
- 46:49Speaker 13: to write about your violence villain with love, and I went,
- 46:55Speaker 13: what he is? Yeah, you treat your care you treat
- 46:59Speaker 13: your worst character are with love because there was a
- 47:02Speaker 13: place somewhere at some time where he or she was good.
- 47:09Speaker 13: So you've got to wait, and then you just have
- 47:12Speaker 13: to be patient. If you can't talk to that person
- 47:15Speaker 13: for a long time, then you're going to be in trouble.
- 47:19Speaker 13: I mean, because you can't get the story right. You
- 47:23Speaker 13: can't what am I thinking of? You want to know
- 47:28Speaker 13: why someone crosses this invisible line? Yeah, to go from
- 47:34Speaker 13: sanity to insanity.
- 47:36Speaker 1: I talked to you when the story on Candice Mossler
- 47:40Speaker 1: came out, and she's just one of the more fascinating
- 47:44Speaker 1: people in Texas history as far as I'm concerned. So
- 47:49Speaker 1: I don't want to revisit that because I'm running out
- 47:51Speaker 1: of time. I need you to tell our listeners who
- 47:54Speaker 1: the Gory Girls were.
- 47:57Speaker 13: Well, I was driving with my wife and stepdaughter through
- 48:02Speaker 13: Hunt School and this is when the Prison Museum was
- 48:06Speaker 13: the old museum downtown. Yeah, not a nice shining one
- 48:10Speaker 13: on I forty five, and I saw these women dressed
- 48:15Speaker 13: as del Evatts, you know, the cowgirls, singing Calgary who
- 48:19Speaker 13: was staying with Roy Rogers this photograph And I said
- 48:23Speaker 13: to the man that ran the museum and says, who
- 48:26Speaker 13: is that? Because we don't know much about them, but
- 48:29Speaker 13: they were called the Gory Girls, and they apparently had
- 48:32Speaker 13: a sensation. They apparently were a sensation, and then they
- 48:36Speaker 13: all disappeared, and I turned and looked at haley stepdaughter.
- 48:41Speaker 13: It has said, there's a story I hear the Sound
- 48:44Speaker 13: of Money.
- 48:48Speaker 1: At one time in the early ANDLD in the early.
- 48:51Speaker 13: Forties, the right to that movie.
- 48:53Speaker 1: Seven million people were tuning in to w b AP
- 48:59Speaker 1: to listen to the Gory Girls sing.
- 49:02Speaker 13: Correct, that's right? Every was it every Monday night or
- 49:06Speaker 13: Wednesday ninth?
- 49:07Speaker 1: Yeah, Wednesday nights.
- 49:10Speaker 13: In the unit where they did all the executions back then? Correct,
- 49:17Speaker 13: they wanted Why did they want to do this so
- 49:22Speaker 13: they could be known as famous singers? No, because they
- 49:25Speaker 13: knew they could win over the warden of their unit,
- 49:29Speaker 13: the Gory Unit. If you're going up forty five and
- 49:34Speaker 13: right before you get into a hunt school, you don't
- 49:38Speaker 13: want to be in the gory unit. Unit called the
- 49:41Speaker 13: Gory Unit. Yeah, it's now male, but back then that
- 49:45Speaker 13: was the one place in Texas where prison Fella and
- 49:48Speaker 13: the inmates were taken.
- 49:52Speaker 1: And they figured out that if if people liked them,
- 49:56Speaker 1: first of all, they were able to tour, they were
- 49:59Speaker 1: able to get out of for Inson and goes sing
- 50:01Speaker 1: when they became really famous, and then they got paroled
- 50:06Speaker 1: one by one. So the group broke up and they
- 50:12Speaker 1: were living just I mean, quiet lives and never sang
- 50:20Speaker 1: again apparently.
- 50:23Speaker 13: Never will not to anyone's knowledge. They were not on
- 50:26Speaker 13: any marquee. They didn't get a recording age nothing.
- 50:31Speaker 1: Wow.
- 50:31Speaker 13: They wanted to disappear. They became famous to disappear. Now
- 50:36Speaker 13: where do you hear a theme like that?
- 50:38Speaker 17: Ever?
- 50:40Speaker 1: Yeah, well, the book is fabulous. It's a compilation of
- 50:45Speaker 1: some of the great female crime stories in the state
- 50:49Speaker 1: of Texas. Ever, Skip, you're not through writing.
- 50:54Speaker 4: Are you?
- 50:56Speaker 1: I better not be.
- 50:56Speaker 13: I've got some bills to pay.
- 50:58Speaker 1: Excellent, Okay, so we're going to talk again.
- 51:01Speaker 13: Right, Well, I mean I'm trying to persuade the muckety
- 51:05Speaker 13: mug bosses. You know, we had them. This book is
- 51:08Speaker 13: called She Killed. Yes, naturally, the next book should be

- 52:58Speaker 20: we'll probably have uh middle school soccer, so we'll be
- 53:01Speaker 20: availaful for that. So nothing too exotic or exciting on
