- 2:15little bit later on the show. Inside the Huddles coming back to Charleston at
- 2:20the Baltwyota Events Center on Patrick Street Thursday, and of course cooping the boys.
- 2:23We'll be doing hotline Life from there. Tony c is going to join
- 2:27us to talk I'm just happy to be able to talk about football now with
- 2:30all everything else that's gone on in the world of universities. And we're going
- 2:34to start the show we're talking about problems with the universities. But again Tony's
- 2:38coming up. In the second segment, I want to bring in Metro new
- 2:39state wide. Correspond to Brad Michaelhuney. Now, Brad, good morning,
- 2:43how are you, sir? Hey, I'm I am doing very well.
- 2:46How are you I? I'm doing doing well. I'm doing a lot better
- 2:50than aldis. And Broadness is right now. We normally talk state government when
- 2:53you're on and I guess Brad to a certain extent this morning, this situation
- 2:58with ab IS is related to government somewhat at least state. But it's an
- 3:05insane story. Lead story you've gotten on the website this morning. Was a
- 3:07subject of hobbies commentary. It's pretty much a going out of business sale right
- 3:12now for this what was a very prestigious private university here in the state.
- 3:16Brad taken from the top on the a b story for those who may not
- 3:20be familiar with it, and how did we get here? And what's the
- 3:23latest? Well Aldison brought us is private and Baptist and it has been a
- 3:30mainstay in the Philippi area, Barbara County for about a decade. It resulted
- 3:36from the combination of a couple of different private Baptist institutions Alderson and brought us
- 3:44and became Aldison brought us. And you know, when you're talking about rural
- 3:50West Virginia communities, small colleges are an asset. They bring students in,
- 3:57they bring life to the community. Alderson brought us fielded exciting in competitive sports
- 4:03teams the people bought into So you know, it's not easy to replace.
- 4:09And I sure don't blame people for continuing as long as I could to fight
- 4:13for their college even though it's private. There was an oversight role for the
- 4:20Higher Education Policy Commission, which is a state board of members appointed by the
- 4:26governor. The oversight role came about because some of West Virginia's private colleges were
- 4:31closing abruptly, and legislators and others determined that there was a need to assess
- 4:39things like the finances. So this summer there has been this tension over whether
- 4:46Alders and Broadest would receive its authorization from the Higher Education Policy Commission. It
- 4:51was delayed twice. The HPC finally granted it earlier in July, but with
- 5:00caveats, with milestones that Alderson Broadest would have to adhere to providing regular financial
- 5:08reports, providing accessibility to the chancellor, providing certainty to the degree possible of
- 5:17the ability to transfer for students if things were to collapse, with providing certainty
- 5:24that academic records would be preserved. And a few weeks passed and the chancellor
- 5:30and the members of the Higher Education Policy Condition concluded yesterday that they didn't get
- 5:36the reassurances that they needed. Their worry was that students would show up soon.
- 5:43August twenty first was the first day of class. But you know what
- 5:46a college campus, students show up early for years or whatever. Many of
- 5:49them have jobs and things of that nature. They got mean, you know,
- 5:51back going back to my college days, I didn't leave. I didn't
- 5:55say I worked when I was a Marshall. Well, go ahead, yeah,
- 5:59and I mean there were there were certainly students there in who have been
- 6:01there in summer school, who were in maybe year year round graduate programs.
- 6:08So the runway was getting short time was of the essence, and the HPC
- 6:15with the chancellor's leadership, determined yesterday that it was the finances to them signaled
- 6:21too heavy a risk to bring in students under the worry that the finances would
- 6:29collapse at mid semester or mid year and that they would be stranded. So
- 6:34you know, it's it's a terrible situation. Is it is easier to maintain
- 6:41an institution that you've had for one hundred years than to create a new one.
- 6:46But it really became a no win situation. There were supporters of Alders
- 6:53and abroad US who had held out hope that they could generate more student enrollment
- 6:59which would have been more tuition, more room and board, bringing money in
- 7:01the door as well as you know, the encouragement of providing more financial support
- 7:09from donors and others. But their runway was short too, and unfortunately for
- 7:14those folks who made a good faith, good hearted efforts, the Higher Education
- 7:20Policy Commission was not convinced in time given the short runway available. And again
- 7:28we're talking with Brad Mcalhanty of the situation with Aldsambroddess, and you know,
- 7:31it's one thing all I guess we've even seen a WV. I mean,
- 7:35there's some problems going on there and other colleges as well, but I mean
- 7:40we're talking about things that that you generally take care of in your household,
- 7:43Brad, like paying your utilities. They had gotten in rears with with the
- 7:46with the city up there on things like they're just basic utilities. Is that
- 7:51right? It is? So the biggest source of debt was a twenty seven
- 7:57million dollars loan from the United States Department of Agriculture. You know, so
- 8:03why agriculture. It's because it was a rural college and the particular loan line
- 8:07colleges across America have used as a lifeline, and so that actually was meant
- 8:13to be a low interest loan to help Alderson brought us manage its finances provide
- 8:18some oxygen, but that they were having a hard time even paying that down.
- 8:26Meanwhile, there was trouble with utilities, as you mentioned, fell behind
- 8:31by almost seven hundred thousand dollars on the water, the sewer and the electricity
- 8:39which was supposed to go on a regular basis to the City of Philippi.
- 8:43City of Philippi has its own bills to pay, so the city provided a
- 8:48shutoff notice and went forward with an action with the Public Service Commission, which
- 8:54was one of the things that tipped this. Alderson brought us, in fairness
- 8:58did put together enough money to pay part of a payment plan. First.
- 9:01The first payment was sixty seven thousand dollars do yesterday, just a portion of
- 9:07it. But you know, they did make again a good faith effort and
- 9:11came through with that payment ten o'clock yesterday morning to the city. Don't know
- 9:16how they would have done on future payments, but they got that one together.
- 9:20But again it was not it was too little, too late. Doctor
- 9:22Sarah Armstrong Tucker, who iss Virdinia's Chancellor of Higher Education, Brad had a
- 9:26good quote from the meeting yesterday. I actually heard it when I was driving
- 9:28in this morning and had to do with these students, as you reference planning
- 9:33on coming to campus, you know, here in a few weeks, you
- 9:35know, first of August, which is where we are now generally speaking,
- 9:39when the kids start to come back to town. And and just imagine,
- 9:41as she said, being one of those students, or heaven forbid, being
- 9:46an international student, because we do our colleges and West Virginia and other colleges
- 9:50do, other states do get a lot of international students. I mean,
- 9:54then can you imagine as a kid, you know, telling your parents,
- 9:56well, I'll see you in December or maybe next week. I mean,
- 10:01I'm not trying to make a line of a situation, but I mean,
- 10:03but but I mean, that's that's just the way it is. So I'm
- 10:05hearing that to some other schools, brand like Davis and Elkins and wesleyan name
- 10:11a couple are opening up their doors for some of these students who may want
- 10:13to go. There is that right? That is right? Some of those
- 10:16schools put out statements trying to express support, saying well, we'll take you
- 10:22because you know, if you had planned to show up and be ready for
- 10:24your classes on August twenty first, today is August first, not a lot
- 10:28of time to consider your transfer. Yeah. So so some of those nearby
- 10:33schools in particular, but also my understanding is West Virginia University is Altius have
- 10:39brought us graduate programs too, and that's that's a little bit of a tougher
- 10:43fit to find. All right, where am I going to transfer in twenty
- 10:46days? That has my graduate program? So WVU is going to help.
- 10:50Um, that's my understanding. And you know, these these students, I
- 10:54sure hope they get the support they need, but you're gonna have to find
- 10:58a place to live. Um, you know, it rolls. Make sure
- 11:01your credits are truly going to transfer. I think that some of these West
- 11:05Virginia schools and the Higher Education Policy Commission are going to provide as much support
- 11:09as they can, as much latitude in leeway those those credits do transfer and
- 11:16students can hit the ground running. But it is one of the reasons that's
- 11:20happened yesterday is because of what I'm talking about. You know, I mean,
- 11:24if if much more time had gone by, that would even be less
- 11:28time for these students to make an adjustment. So you know, it's nothing
- 11:33is perfect about this. It's it's messy, and your heart goes out to
- 11:37the individual students trying to figure out what to do. Now, Yeah,
- 11:41you're right. Programming note Sarah Armstrong Tuck or the chancellor for the state and
- 11:45the board chairman Drew Payne will be on Hoppy in the first segment of talk
- 11:48Line to UM this morning ten of six. So while this is kind of
- 11:54I know, taking up all your time here lately, Brad Bitte, what
- 11:58else do you are you taking a look at? I don't know. I
- 12:01was talking to somebody this morning about the governor sending the troops down to the
- 12:05border in Texas. Some people not completely happy about that. What else are
- 12:09you watching under the watchful eye of mister mclhenny today, Well, you know,
- 12:15so yesterday the Alderson brought us thing was the story that developed all day
- 12:20until the decision at three pm. Today, I think, is you know
- 12:24what happens next? These students are trying to transfer. Alderson brought us has
- 12:30buildings to maintain faculty and staff. Doctor Tucker yesterday said that really Alderson brought
- 12:37US was living pay period to pay period, So how do you maintain faculty
- 12:41and staff at the university long enough to make sure students are clear and the
- 12:48physical properties are okay? So it's it's really still today, a lot of
- 12:52focusing on well what next with Alderson brought us. I did not cover it,
- 12:58some of our fellow junior radio colleagues did, Mike Nolting of our Morgantown
- 13:07location in particular. But Gordegee, president of West Virginia University, got extended
- 13:13for a year. His contract now runs into I believe twenty twenty five.
- 13:18You know, the interesting thing about that is to be polite, he's age,
- 13:22he's seventy nine, and he's now been extended into twenty twenty five.
- 13:26But then also the challenges university in Morgantown is facing financially, trying to close
- 13:35this year a forty five million dollar gap. The estimate was that coming up
- 13:39that forty five million dollar gap could potentially turn into a seventy five million dollar
- 13:43gap. At WWU, faculty and staff are worried for their own jobs and
- 13:48the extension of the university president finding him some security and consistent president in leadership,
- 14:01but has thus come at the very same time others are worried about their
- 14:05jobs. Yeah, well, I know, like I said, it's consumed
- 14:07a whole lot of your day yesterday, and it sounds like you're going to
- 14:11continue on his looking at this and plus the situation with VVU as well,
- 14:15and of course we have interims to talk about. You know that you'll be
- 14:18watching that as we head into the weekend early next week. Brand is always
- 14:20a pleasure. Great job, man, We'll talk soon. Thanks a lot.

- 17:36Dave? I'm great? How are you nice to be with you? Thank
- 17:37you for taking time out of your busy schedule to be here. It's time
- 17:41to talk to some Mountain your football and eat some barbecue Thursday night in Charleston,
- 17:44Bud. Yes, here we go again. It's the annual event that
- 17:48we have put together now for more than a decade, working with the folks
- 17:52of the United Way of Central West Virginia, and it's always been a good
- 17:56time as kind of is our kickoff to the season, and we call these
- 18:02inside the Huddle. I'll do three of these this year. Charleston is first,
- 18:04Parkersburg this coming Saturday, and we do that for the Boys and Girls
- 18:10Club, and then in a week out to the Martinsburg area and we'll do
- 18:14one for the Boys and Girls Club of the Eastern Panhandle. And so it's
- 18:18just an opportunity to get together with Mountaineer fans and obviously, David, you
- 18:22well know, this has been perhaps not perhaps this has been the most eventful
- 18:27offseason that I can recall. And so we'll get into all of that.
- 18:33We'll talk about those things. We'll talk to football, we'll talk basketball and
- 18:36whatever else the folks want to get into. And this was going to be
- 18:38at the ball Toyota Events Center, which is on Patrick Straight. As you
- 18:41mentioned, Tony, it's a fundraiser for the United way, big shout out
- 18:44to Margaret O'Neal and all the good people there's it's always a great time.
- 18:48And as now as we have flipped the calendar over to August first, Tony,
- 18:52that means it's football season. I know, Joe Bracado's on on the
- 18:55road everywhere right now, covering like fifty five high schools in a day.
- 18:59It means it's football season, man, yeah it is. And so yesterday
- 19:03it was the first day of high school practice and the Mountaineers, we'll get
- 19:07into it starting their first team meeting is today. They're on the field tomorrow.
- 19:12And you know, it's a little bit different than it used to be.
- 19:17You know, back in the eighties when the players reported back in this
- 19:22time of the year, there was always this big question as to what kind
- 19:26of physical condition they were in because seventy five percent of them left town during
- 19:30the summer. That's all changed and this has become almost year round, and
- 19:34so there was constant opportunity throughout the summer for the players, you know,
- 19:41to do Now some things based on new NCAA rules where they can go out
- 19:44onto the field without a ball, but they can walk through stuff. They
- 19:47can have meetings with their coaches during the summer, so when they get into
- 19:51it, it's no longer a preseason camp where you have to focus on about
- 19:55getting them in shape, and let's getting them in condition they're ready to go,
- 19:57and that is something that has kind of changed through the rules of the
- 20:02last you know, probably ten to fifteen years. Yeah. Indeed, Tony
- 20:04Greedi is with us talking about the upcoming season and also inside the Huddle,
- 20:08which is going to be Thursday evening U and a little programming note there.
- 20:11Dave Weekly and Coop will be doing the show of their Mental News Hotline show
- 20:15live from there on Thursday. You know, Tony, I was in Morgantown
- 20:19a couple of days last month for the Joe's Nose Kids Mountain their Legends Golfound.
- 20:22I got to hang out with a lot of mountaineer folks from yesterday and
- 20:26today as well, and to a person and you kind of alluded to this
- 20:32earlier with everything that's happened during the off season, uh, you know,
- 20:36with with coach Huggins and then questions about the upcoming season and where were the
- 20:41Mountaineers where the experts say that what the Mountaineers are going to do this year,
- 20:45things of that nature. The baseball situation, Gordon geed when we intererestanded.
- 20:48You know, as I mentioned, it's just got a contract attention.
- 20:52This is kind of a way to say, Okay, it's time to talk
- 20:55stuff on the field. Get this this other stuff out of the way.
- 21:00Yeah, you forgot to mention Conference reaffiliation reorganisation, which is also going Unfortunately
- 21:06we're not involved as far as you know where we're going. But I mean
- 21:08there's rumblings that after the Big twelve to Colorado last week, that something could
- 21:14happen even as soon as you know, very quickly with a PAC twelve television
- 21:18contract supposedly for about the four hundredth time is going to be released now,
- 21:23and then based on what happens with that, we could see more movement and
- 21:27potentially PAC twelve schools and Arizona's being mentioned the most potentially coming along. So
- 21:34yeah, there's just a ton to your point, a ton of things that
- 21:37have happened in this offseason that have a lot to do with off the field,
- 21:44off the court things now you can focus in in football wise. You
- 21:48know, this is also you know new area for us collectively as those that
- 21:53follow the Mountaineers. I mean, it's the first time I could ever recall
- 21:56West Virginia being picked last in a preseason poll. You know, obviously,
- 22:02in our days in the Big East, we were always an upper team,
- 22:06and even in the Big Twelve, in our very first year in the Big
- 22:08Twelve, we were picked second in the preseason poll if you remember, coming
- 22:12off the Orange Bowl of victory over Clemson, and so we had a tremendous
- 22:15amount of wind behind our sails at that time. And it's been talked about
- 22:22a lot, and rightfully so. And Neil Brown addressed it during media day
- 22:26down in Dallas, and he said, you know, we're not finishing last.
- 22:30And so that, you know, is the setup for this season.
- 22:33And Neil knows it more than anyone else that this season has got to produce
- 22:38a number of wins and it's got to show athletic director Rend Baker the program
- 22:45is stepping forward and isn't either you know, in neutral or stepping backward.
- 22:49And so, you know, a huge, huge season for so many different
- 22:55reasons. And then obviously you're throwing in there the fact that you're opening up
- 22:59against Pence Day on the road on a Saturday night, So there's a ton
- 23:03here to get through. You're exactly right, Tony. I know you're really
- 23:06busy. We'll let you go. I'm looking forward to seeing you Thursday evening
- 23:10over at the bald Toyota Events Center. Thanks a lot for joining us this
- 23:12morning. Hey, thank you. It's my pleasure to take care of all
- 23:15ry. Tony Kariti, the voice of the mount oft of years again.
- 23:18The Inside the Huddle event Thursday starts at five thirty at the Baltoyota Events Center,
- 23:22Patrick Street here in Charleston. It's a fundraiser for the United Way.
- 23:26Tickets generally speaking, go quickly. I have not checked with Margaret. I
- 23:29know that they normally listen to the show at the United Way headquarters. So
- 23:33with Margaret or or Carry or any of those wonderful people from the United Way
- 23:36or Kim or listening right now, you want to send me a text or
- 23:38something and let me know how ticket sales are going, because I know in
- 23:41the past this thing sold out. I think so can I have a lot
- 23:45of great food, a lot of great mountaineer talks. Put your gear on

- 24:03know, you can cheer for both teams, believe it or not, so

- 24:47all right, So let me see. Let me I got some text
- 24:49here I like this. When Ryan Tex says it's the season. When Dave
- 24:55starts referring to football as football, fall must be around the corner. Extra
- 25:00kind of brought that to my attention, And I guess I never really really
- 25:03I noticed that that I say football and that I don't leave. I don't,
- 25:07I don't foot it. I didn't. I didn't realize I did that.
- 25:10But the texture brought it out to me last year, and I made
- 25:12a conscientious effort not to do that this year, and I think I've already
- 25:15screwed that up. So yeah, I do have send to see to pronounce

- 31:47A new New York Times poll about the twenty twenty four election shows the
- 31:52race for president, if it comes down to former President Trump and current President
- 31:56Joe Biden, that particular race is it dead heats forty three forty three.
- 32:02Now, obviously, even with my poor math skills, forty three forty three
- 32:06does not equal one hundred. It is interesting to note there are some other
- 32:09variables and other numbers being thrown in there. Fourteen percent of those poll declined
- 32:15to vote for either candidate. Now, I read that to mean that if
- 32:21Biden and Trump are the nominees for their respective parties, those voters simply won't
- 32:27vote for president, or if some said they would not vote at all,
- 32:32which you know. I mean, I've said this on the show before.
- 32:37There was one election that I did not vote for president. I simply could
- 32:43not. And for the life of me right now, I don't remember what
- 32:45year it was, but I didn't not vote. I just chose not to
- 32:49vote for president. And so I think may have been one of the Obama
- 32:55McCain and maybe it's Obamaca. I don't I don't remember all the time.
- 32:58May but I didn't vote for president for that very reason because I just I
- 33:02didn't like either candidate. Now with McCain, I respected the guy, you
- 33:07know his I'm not a Donald Trump person that called him a loser. No,
- 33:10no, no, it was nothing like that. I just didn't like
- 33:13some of his policies as it pertained to coal mining. That was one of
- 33:16the reason that I did not. He was not your typical Republican when it
- 33:20came to coal mining. God rest his soul. So I didn't. But
- 33:23that's what a lot of these people are saying. Fourteen percent are saying that
- 33:27they won't vote for either candidate and that they may not even vote at all,
- 33:30which twenty twenty four is one of those big old election years, folks.
- 33:34If you don't like either candidate, and a lot of people don't don't
- 33:37stay home. You know, you still got their races, And I guess
- 33:42I learned this from my time and state government. The races that actually matter
- 33:45more to your daily life. You know, many of them on the ballot
- 33:47next year, your county commissions, your sheriff, your Board of ed you
- 33:52know, your house or senates and mayor royal races, things of that nature.
- 33:55So so so keep that in mind. But yeah, the percentage of
- 33:58them say they're not going to vote for either one. There was a percentage
- 34:05that said that they may go third party whatever that looks like, maybe Senator
- 34:10Mansion or someone else from the from the No Labels group. And you know,
- 34:16I've had a lot of people on the show talking politics. I had
- 34:20Steven Allen Adams from Agden Newspapers and does a fantastic job in the show You
- 34:22Yesterday. I've had Greg Thomas on the show. I've talked to the Democratic
- 34:28Strategist, and everybody seems to agree at this point that it is a foregone
- 34:35conclusion that everyone seems to think that Joe Mansion is going to run for president.
- 34:38He's told some people from what I've been told he's told some people that
- 34:44that's that's what he's looking to do it and he's not gonna win, and
- 34:46he knows that. But it's not going to be like getting his butt kicked
- 34:51by Jim Justice, which is probably, with all due respects, under Mansion.
- 34:53What's going to happen is if he runs, and as I said on
- 34:59the show yesterday, opinion only if Joe Mansion runs for Senate and Jim Justice
- 35:06is the nominee, Jim Justice wins handily. If Joe Mansion runs for Senate
- 35:09and Alex Mooney is the nominee, Alex Mooney wins not as handily as the
- 35:17Justice win. But it's the way I see it. I mean, you
- 35:22know, if you go back, as we mentioned Stephen and I talked about
- 35:24on the show yesterday, if you go back to the year twenty eighteen,
- 35:30it was very close. It was very close that you know, Mansion barely
- 35:37barely won that over Patrick Morrison. So going back to the Trump and the
- 35:43Biden thing, the always important unfavorable category. This is something new in the
- 35:47world of polar relatively new, the last in fifteen years where they don't just
- 35:51ask people how you're going to vote, they ask you, what do you
- 35:57think and what are your feelings? We're all about feelings these days. What
- 36:00are your feelings on Donald Trump or your feelings on Joe Biden. Well,
- 36:05Trump definitely leads the unfavorable category and it's not even close. Unrelated to this
- 36:13poll, President Biden's approval rating is going up. And I was doing some
- 36:20reading on its totally separate subject yesterday about the thought process of many Republicans read
- 36:29that as Trump supporters. Now, not all Republicans are Trump supporters. I
- 36:34know one particularly that's not. But in talking about this, a great number
- 36:40of Republicans don't believe any of the bad stuff that's come out against Trump,
- 36:47any of it, including the documents issue, including the phone calls that we
- 36:52all have heard him making to Georgia. It's not Ai, I mean,
- 36:58it's actually Donald Trump making the phone calls, saying asking to find votes.
- 37:01Now, whether he was serious about that, it sounded pretty serious to me.
- 37:05He's admitted that he took documents, but a great number of Republicans don't
- 37:10even believe that he admitted it, or they believe he admitted it, but
- 37:15don't believe he did it. He admitted to do it, he had now
- 37:17whether he had the right to, whether he didn't, You know, that
- 37:20could be argued. But and when you got that kind of a mentality,
- 37:28when certain things are being thrown out there and people aren't going to believe it
- 37:31no matter what it is, it's kind of a scary place to be in
- 37:38in my opinion. Five Aty Live is presented to you in part by your
- 37:40hometown baseball team, the Charleston Dirty Birds. Off night last night for the
- 37:45Birds, they are on the road tonight in Lancaster. They'll return home to

- 37:52promotion schedules, and more of his Dirty Birds baseball dot com uh text
- 37:58says Donald Trump is a terrible person and quite possibly a criminal. You also
- 38:02attempted the stage at coup. People running for office tounting Trump's name, including
- 38:07Mike Stewart Editor's note to will be on the show tomorrow, are going to
- 38:12look really dumb when history records their deeds and finds they supported a person who
- 38:16tried to ruin our republic because he couldn't stand losing that his According to a
- 38:22Texter, okay let me let me go back a moment yesterday's show. As
- 38:32I said, I did not get to all of the texts on the show
- 38:36yesterday. I thought that my my rant that I did on the needle exchange
- 38:42program would have listed a lot of texts, and it did. But some
- 38:47of the other comments that I got yesterday wasn't about my thoughts of a needle
- 38:52exchange at all. Uh. It was. It stemmed from a text that
- 38:57I got, and I will try to find that text if I can pull
- 39:00it up here. Sometimes we get so many it's kind of hard to go
- 39:04back and look at some of them. But it then, because I can't
- 39:07pull it up right now, I'm just going to try to paraphrase it.
- 39:10No, I think I do have it in The text said, one way
- 39:15to continue to keep people out of West Virginia is to continue to vote read.
- 39:22It was a text that I received of a text line yesterday, and
- 39:25that got just about as many responses as my little rant that I did on
- 39:30the proposed needle exchange program in Charleston. Now, as for my commentary about
- 39:37the latest needle exchange program that's being talked about for Charleston City Council, we'll
- 39:43take it up next week. I gave my opinions on it, and you
- 39:46can go back and you can listen cheap plug if you wish to WCHS network
- 39:52dot com, go to the websites, go to the social media the Twitter
- 39:57or x I guess it's called now or Facebook or whatever the case this may
- 40:00be, or mine. I've got my Facebook page, which is Dave Allen
- 40:04Radio, and my ex page used to be Twitter or the artist from l
- 40:07knows Twitter. It's at Dave a seventy on there, and you can listen
- 40:12to the show and listen to yourself. I had somebody text me, a
- 40:16friend text me this morning, said, what did you do on this show
- 40:20yesterday? I've got to go back and listen. How do I listen to
- 40:22it? So I had to tell them exactly how they could go back in
- 40:25and listen to it. It was my opinion a little harsh, and if
- 40:35you were offended by it, then I apologize. But I want to apologize
- 40:39for what I said. I'm only going to apologize if you were offended because
- 40:45my goal is not to offend people with this show. I'm the kind of
- 40:49a non usually non confrontational, easy going guy. I just kind of like
- 40:52the you know, let's everybody kind of get along, but it's something I
- 40:57feel very passionate about, and and I put my opinions out there yesterday,
- 41:01and we have a disclaimer the top of the show. It says the views
- 41:04and opinions may do not necessarily represent those of the staff, management, advertisers,
- 41:07so on and so forth. Sometimes they do, sometimes they don't.
- 41:13But I believed every word of what I said yesterday, and basically, to
- 41:17paraphrase it before we go to break, basically what I said was yesterday,
- 41:21I'm one percent against it. I'm talking about needle exchange programs. I do
- 41:27realize that they are successful and the science has proven that, which I pointed
- 41:31out in that but from a moral standpoint, I just can't go along with
- 41:36it. I can't go along with legitimizing criminal activity, which is exactly what
- 41:42you are doing with this. Now that'll be up to the city council to
- 41:45decide. They had the meeting last week and there were pros and cons.
- 41:51Somebody called me out and said, you know, I didn't have all the
- 41:52fact Well, I wasn't there, so I was taking it from published reports
- 41:55and which I thought, we're pretty accurate. Still do in talking reading several
- 42:00published reports, but if if we're taking a poll or combining yeses and nos
- 42:10to the show via text, or what I heard from people yesterday when I
- 42:15picked up from social media, there was far more favorable comments to what I
- 42:19said the negative. And I just appreciate people listening and chiming in and to
- 42:25be pretty boring if everyone listened agreed with everything that the host sets. No
- 42:31matter who the host is, myself or Hoppy or whoever, you can say
- 42:37what you want to about me, but I do allow for all voices to
- 42:39be heard on the show. Some people have taken me to task for that
- 42:45because every time I have Mike Pushkin on the show, going back to before
- 42:51Pushkin was the state Democratic Party chair and he was on on a pretty regular
- 42:54bay almost a weekly basis at one point as a delegate, I would have
- 43:00people constantly reaching out to me and said, why do you put him on?
- 43:02Well, number one, he's a delegate, he represents this area and
- 43:06he's pretty well spoken guy. Don't agree with him on everything, he doesn't
- 43:08agree with me on everything, but he does pretty good job. I get
- 43:10the same thing when I have a Greg Thomas on the air, and there's
- 43:14been others like that, you know, so it's a place for all voices.

- 46:47pm any week and get educated on what real people are doing to solve the
- 46:52problem. I bet you won't come. Chicken. Are you offering chicken?
- 46:59Because I probably will come if there's chicken, but not I think they're calling
- 47:00me a chicken. As you sat standing invitation to anyone interested in solving the
- 47:07problem. Uh, Texas says yes, and it just had hands clapping.
- 47:14This was on my my editorial. If you will On yesterday. Uh,
- 47:20Texas, Dave Well said, concerning the needle exchange situation in Charleston. We
- 47:23agree with what you said that deciding to take illegal drugs and drinking alcohol as
- 47:29a choice. The sad part is the families that try and try to help
- 47:32the individuals that don't want to change. Those families suffer a lot. Thanks
- 47:37Dave. Yeah, yeah, absolutely absolutely they do. Let me see,
- 47:45Um, Texas, Dave, you bring up a great point regarding AI.
- 47:50Is the day coming when such calls as the Trump calls are indistinguishable from real
- 47:53and AI. If so, what will we do? You know, Uh,
- 47:58this sort of thing is has been thrown out there before. I mean
- 48:00if you, I mean way before AI. And Coop's the AI guy,
- 48:05not me. Okay, he's fascinated with it. I'm just saying, okay,
- 48:08whatever, just really not my thing. However, if you go and
- 48:13you dive into this, it can be some pretty And I'm not an alarmist
- 48:17or whatever. I have been accused of being an anti tech time at the
- 48:22time. But for me, you know, I'd still be caring around a
- 48:24flip phone or a bag phone probably right. Do you know what a bag
- 48:28phone is? No? He doesn't want a kind of got involve going there
- 48:35anyway. All right, let me move on here, Tech says Dave.
- 48:37No labels is a no idea, no platform, no position party. They
- 48:43say they stand for common sense principles. When ask what this means, they
- 48:46say they support what the American people support. That's, you know, and
- 48:53I get that. But doesn't every politician say I support what the American people
- 48:59do? I mean, isn't that what all politicians say? Good point,
- 49:01though, text says, day Florida guy here, everything you said about drug
- 49:05uses correct personal responsibilities become a stranger to the truth. Text says, as
- 49:13Danny Jones says, in regards to another needle exchange, just follow the money.
- 49:17Nothing but a cash grab by the Women's Health Center. According to a
- 49:22texture, textres says, Dave, never apologize for expressing your views. I
- 49:27didn't. I did not apologize for expressing my views. I apologize if people
- 49:30were offended by it, But I don't they give me a show to express
- 49:36my views, and trust me, I tend to be on this show a
- 49:38lot more interest in other people's views than my own. Text says, I've
- 49:45been saying it, and I've been seeing it. Conservative red policies are great
- 49:50for West Virginia's natural beauty. Drive out people, make it undesirable for people
- 49:54to move to than those who live here and get cleaner rivers and healthier woodlands.
- 50:00According to a Texter Texas Dave sending the National Guard to the border was
- 50:07absolutely the right thing to do. Once these illegals making a cross, they
- 50:12are dropped off all over the country, including our states. Tex says,
- 50:16of voting red means keeping all the craziness we're seeing in the rest of our
- 50:20country out of our state, then yes, by all means vote read.
- 50:22Democrats have completely lost their way. It's comforting to know that my fellow West
- 50:28Virginians can see through the b s. Thanks Dave, signed an ex Democrat
- 50:34Texas. Dave, Me and you both know that Trump has a massive ego,
- 50:37but that ego is the very reason this current demitted administration can't bring him
- 50:40down. What do you think would happen if we took every politician and combed
- 50:45through everything they've ever done and used the DJ and the hacknews to bring them
- 50:49down after seven years of lies and defamation, No wonder he is the way
- 50:52he is. It's absolutely repulsive what they have done to this man. His
- 50:57personality drives me crazy, but he truly wants what's best for our country.
- 51:00We cannot afford for more years of Biden, Dave said, or Texas.
- 51:07Dave apologized for the poultry remark, but the offer still stands. Once you
- 51:12get people off the needle, the real work begins, and the more community
- 51:15supported understanding we can get the better chance they have. Eight o'clock Thursday,
- 51:20Saint John's Biscopal Church, hunter Hall. All right, I appreciate all the
- 51:25text, and I think I think I managed. Oh no, actually I
- 51:28didn't. There's one more here, uh tex says. Here's an interesting question,
- 51:31in my opinion, if Joe Mansion is the third party candidate for president
- 51:37and goes against Trump and Biden, does he carry West Virginia. He doesn't.
- 51:43If he's against Trump, No, no, no, he doesn't beat
- 51:45he doesn't beat. He doesn't beat Donald Trump in West Virginia. Nobody beats
- 51:49Donald Trump in West Virginia. Biden if and again, I don't know how
- 51:54this whole thing is gonna play out. Biden. Yeah, he beats Biden.
- 51:58He beats Biden. But it's US Virginia. So there's a whole lot
- 52:01more of the population in the bigger cities that like the job Joe Biden is
- 52:06doing so all right. Five any Lie has been brought to you by Generations
