- 0:10Speaker 1: Hey, what's up, everybody. Welcome into another edition of the
- 0:12Speaker 1: Checko Daily. It's Andrew de Checko, Eagles beat reporter for
- 0:15Speaker 1: insidethebirds dot Com on this frigid, frigid Sunday afternoon where
- 0:21Speaker 1: the Eagles blanked the Las Vegas Raiders thirty one to
- 0:25Speaker 1: zero in a game that I'm not exactly sure how
- 0:29Speaker 1: much you can take away from it, but you would
- 0:31Speaker 1: like to see the Eagles dominate an inferior opponent, a
- 0:34Speaker 1: two win team coming in here to Lincoln Financial Field,
- 0:38Speaker 1: and they did just that. In fact, the Eagles defense
- 0:42Speaker 1: allowed just seventy five total yards in the game, which
- 0:46Speaker 1: is the fewest yards allowed in a game in the
- 0:48Speaker 1: Super Bowl eras, so really impressive performance by them. Look,
- 0:55Speaker 1: the Raiders could do nothing offensively. Defensively, they were porous.
- 1:00Speaker 1: But this is the kind of game where if you're
- 1:02Speaker 1: looking to take things away from it from an Eagles perspective,
- 1:06Speaker 1: you want to see them go out there and take
- 1:08Speaker 1: care of business on both sides of the football. Dominate
- 1:11Speaker 1: on defense, don't give them anything, and offensively, make sure
- 1:16Speaker 1: you're putting up points, make sure you're cashing in when
- 1:18Speaker 1: you're in the red zone. So look but as I
- 1:22Speaker 1: was driving into the stadium, it resembled the Chronicles of
- 1:25Speaker 1: Narnia snow coming down. It was, you know, dark, but
- 1:30Speaker 1: you know after those snow showers that coded the seats
- 1:33Speaker 1: in like a financial field, by the way, it eventually
- 1:36Speaker 1: gave way to aggressive wind and sun closer to kickoff.
- 1:42Speaker 1: The two win Raiders were ill equipped to put up
- 1:45Speaker 1: a fight on the road that as I mentioned, they
- 1:47Speaker 1: mustered just seventy five yards of offense, and it was
- 1:51Speaker 1: a return to dominance on both sides for the Eagles.
- 1:54Speaker 1: I don't want to take anything away from them on
- 1:56Speaker 1: that because especially on defense where Kenny Pickett, their quarterback
- 2:03Speaker 1: former Eagles quarterback by the way, was under duress for
- 2:06Speaker 1: much of the afternoon, and the running game was bottled
- 2:08Speaker 1: up with Ashton Genty, their rookie running back, averaging just
- 2:12Speaker 1: three point eight yards per carry. Even tight end brock
- 2:15Speaker 1: Bowers was unable to factor in. He had less than
- 2:18Speaker 1: thirty yards in this game. So just a really strong
- 2:21Speaker 1: performance across the board from the Eagles and inactive for
- 2:25Speaker 1: the Eagles outside linebacker Josh Usha, quarterback Sam Howe, cornerback
- 2:30Speaker 1: Mac McWilliams, running back AJ Dillon, tackle Lane Johnson and
- 2:35Speaker 1: defensive tackle Jalen Carter. By the way, all signs point
- 2:41Speaker 1: to Lane Johnson nearing his return, while Fred Johnson made
- 2:45Speaker 1: his fourth consecutive start at right tackle. This mark the
- 2:48Speaker 1: third consecutive week in which josh Ousha has been deemed inactive,
- 2:53Speaker 1: after having originally carved out a role on kick coverage
- 2:56Speaker 1: and as a rotational pass rusher. Elevated from the practice
- 2:59Speaker 1: squad for this game. As I outlined safety Andre Sam,
- 3:02Speaker 1: who registered his third and final elevation, Sam would need
- 3:06Speaker 1: to be signed to the fifty three man roster if
- 3:08Speaker 1: he's to stay in if he's to play in another
- 3:10Speaker 1: game this season. The second year pro provided a special
- 3:13Speaker 1: team's prowess, and he also provided safety depth in case
- 3:17Speaker 1: something happened. Let's get to the observations. The Raiders won
- 3:21Speaker 1: the opening toss and they elected to defer to the
- 3:23Speaker 1: second half. They brought the Eagles offense up first. The
- 3:26Speaker 1: drive covered seven minutes nine seconds and had a nice
- 3:29Speaker 1: run pass balance. A defensive pass interference penalty called on
- 3:33Speaker 1: cornerback Eric Stokes, who was defending wide receiver AJ Brown
- 3:38Speaker 1: on a third and three extended the thirteen play possession
- 3:41Speaker 1: in several short yarded situations. The Eagles brought brought on
- 3:46Speaker 1: all three tight ends and full back Cameron Latsu, which
- 3:50Speaker 1: proved to be an effective remedy to grind out tough yards.
- 3:53Speaker 1: Really liked the red zone creativity with Jay when Hurt
- 3:55Speaker 1: selling a fake to running back say Plon Barkley and
- 3:58Speaker 1: shoveling a past the tight end Dallas four yard touchdown.
- 4:01Speaker 1: Fast start for an off maligned group without much of
- 4:07Speaker 1: an identity to hang their hat on offensively, I kind
- 4:10Speaker 1: of expected the Raiders to implement an approach that was
- 4:14Speaker 1: a short, methodical death by a thousand cuts passing game
- 4:18Speaker 1: accompanied by a plotting running game sprinkled in and Kenny
- 4:21Speaker 1: Pickett on that first drive completed six of eight passes
- 4:24Speaker 1: for just thirty hours on the opening possession, which was
- 4:27Speaker 1: extended due to the Cooper Degene penalty, and that was
- 4:33Speaker 1: that happened to coincide with the Brandon Graham sack, his
- 4:36Speaker 1: seventy seven and a half career sack as a member
- 4:40Speaker 1: of the Eagles, but it was on a third and eight,
- 4:42Speaker 1: so it afforded the Raiders a fresh set of downs.
- 4:45Speaker 1: Kenny Pickett was sacked on the ensuing play. By Moro Jomo,
- 4:48Speaker 1: who picked up his fifth of the season. The drive
- 4:51Speaker 1: stalled on a fourth and sixth when outside linebacker Jalen
- 4:54Speaker 1: Phillips got his hand up to deflect the pass to
- 4:57Speaker 1: wide receiver Tyler Lockett. So right then there, it felt
- 5:00Speaker 1: like the tides were shifting a little bit, and a
- 5:03Speaker 1: week after committing five turnovers, Hurts played a crisp and
- 5:06Speaker 1: clean game, completed twelve to fifteen pass attempts for one
- 5:10Speaker 1: to seventy five and three touchdowns on an afternoon in
- 5:12Speaker 1: which the wind was definitely a factor. In fact, it
- 5:15Speaker 1: was so much of a factor that when Jake Elliott
- 5:18Speaker 1: was taking his practice kicks in the open end of
- 5:20Speaker 1: the stadium, he missed two or three kicks wide right.
- 5:25Speaker 1: I want to say it was a factor. It didn't
- 5:29Speaker 1: turn out to be something that altered the game in
- 5:32Speaker 1: any way, but I thought going into it that it would,
- 5:36Speaker 1: and that wind was definitely something serious. The Eagles have
- 5:39Speaker 1: dealt with a lot of windy type of elements, whether
- 5:42Speaker 1: it was the Lions game, the Bears game, or today.
- 5:45Speaker 1: But I thought that Hurts also showcased his dual threat ability,
- 5:50Speaker 1: carrying seven times for thirty nine yards. His rushing numbers
- 5:53Speaker 1: are down this year, but for the Eagles to get
- 5:55Speaker 1: the most out of their offense and Hurts, they'll need
- 5:58Speaker 1: to implement more quarterback runs, and Hurts must seize opportunities
- 6:04Speaker 1: and tuck and run when the moment calls for it.
- 6:06Speaker 1: Because he once referred to himself as a triple threat
- 6:10Speaker 1: that's arm, legs and mind. To diminish Hurts his running ability,
- 6:14Speaker 1: which should aid in the running game as well, would
- 6:17Speaker 1: be a disservice to the offense massive game for Eagles.
- 6:22Speaker 1: As rusher Brandon Graham, who has been moonlighting inside in
- 6:26Speaker 1: the absence of Jalen Carter, the thirty seven year old
- 6:28Speaker 1: was a force from the interior, knifing through for a
- 6:31Speaker 1: pair of sacks. Graham last week mentioned how much of
- 6:34Speaker 1: what he's being asked to do is similar to his
- 6:36Speaker 1: role from last season, and he's been focusing on mastering
- 6:39Speaker 1: the technical aspects of going from outside to inside and
- 6:43Speaker 1: specifically balance and entrenching both feet in the ground when
- 6:46Speaker 1: striking was something that he noted. But with those two sacks,
- 6:49Speaker 1: Brandon Graham brings his career total to seventy eight and
- 6:52Speaker 1: a half behind OI Reggie White, who was one hundred
- 6:54Speaker 1: and twenty four and Trent Cole, who was eighty five
- 6:57Speaker 1: and a half. A lot of different defensive players that
- 7:02Speaker 1: I was in on those scrums spoke about how cool
- 7:07Speaker 1: it was or had their own takeaway for Brandon Graham
- 7:10Speaker 1: getting his sacks. Whether it was Jordan Davis, whether it
- 7:13Speaker 1: was Zach Bond or Jalen Phillips, na Kobe Dean, it
- 7:19Speaker 1: was everybody was really excited to see beg out there
- 7:22Speaker 1: flying around, and it was cool to see, you know,
- 7:26Speaker 1: from retirement to playing interior defensive line and picking up
- 7:32Speaker 1: two sacks this late in the season is something that
- 7:36Speaker 1: I don't think any of us could have expected. But
- 7:38Speaker 1: he's contributing to the Eagles in a more meaningful way
- 7:42Speaker 1: than I think any of us may have even expected,
- 7:45Speaker 1: So that's important to acknowledge. The Raiders were victimized throughout
- 7:50Speaker 1: the afternoon on intermediary routes intermediary throws at Dallas Goddard,
- 7:54Speaker 1: who routinely found the sauce spots and zone and serve
- 7:57Speaker 1: as a primary target four hertz. Goddard finished with seventy
- 8:01Speaker 1: yards and two toestdowns on six grabs seven targets. I
- 8:04Speaker 1: mentioned previously that Hertz and Goddard have a strong chemistry,
- 8:08Speaker 1: often manifesting during training camp with the flurry of timing
- 8:11Speaker 1: based completions. Now, at long last, the veteran tight end
- 8:14Speaker 1: has become a focal point in the passing game and
- 8:17Speaker 1: for the first time in his career, the red zone.
- 8:20Speaker 1: Say what you will about the job Kevin Patullo has
- 8:22Speaker 1: done as the Eagles offensive coordinator, but he's the only
- 8:25Speaker 1: one who has truly maximized Goddard's value in the receiving game.
- 8:31Speaker 1: On the Eagles' fourth offensive possession, which resulted in a
- 8:34Speaker 1: two yard Saquon Barkley plunged to extend the Eagles lead
- 8:37Speaker 1: to seventeen to zero. Running back Tanks Bigsby was in
- 8:40Speaker 1: for most of the drive as Barkley was on the
- 8:41Speaker 1: sideline conversing with trainers. He carried three times for fourteen yards.
- 8:47Speaker 1: Many on the outside have clamored for more Tank Bigsby,
- 8:49Speaker 1: which I agree with to an extent. It was good
- 8:52Speaker 1: to see him make the most of his touches and
- 8:54Speaker 1: perhaps the team can work him into the game plan more.
- 8:56Speaker 1: He hits the hole with decisiveness, no doubt about that.
- 8:59Speaker 1: He played a lot late in the game when the
- 9:01Speaker 1: Eagles pulled the starters and it looked like he was
- 9:04Speaker 1: headed for a touchdown. I was talking to Cameron Latsu
- 9:08Speaker 1: after the game, and I thought and Britain Covey, and
- 9:11Speaker 1: I was as the Eagles were driving down the field
- 9:14Speaker 1: and those guys were getting a lot of snaps. I
- 9:16Speaker 1: even tweeted out, will there be a touchdown for either
- 9:21Speaker 1: Cameron Lotso or Britain Covey on this drive? Because that's
- 9:25Speaker 1: the way it seemed like it was headed. But it was.
- 9:27Speaker 1: They fed Tank Bigsby a lot and he fell short
- 9:29Speaker 1: on that fourth down, didn't get in. But the offense
- 9:32Speaker 1: was definitely moving the football. And it's always good that
- 9:36Speaker 1: in a game like that where you have the luxury
- 9:38Speaker 1: of pulling your starters, getting the getting some of those
- 9:42Speaker 1: reserves in that you may need to call upon, and
- 9:44Speaker 1: just giving almost rewarding them with snaps for the work
- 9:48Speaker 1: that they've done in practice offseason and moonlighting on special
- 9:52Speaker 1: team and doing all those things to give him those
- 9:54Speaker 1: to give them those opportunities, I thought was pretty cool.
- 10:01Speaker 1: So I'm curious to see if you know Tank Bigby
- 10:05Speaker 1: who should be critical down the stretch if the Eagles
- 10:08Speaker 1: continue to stack wins as it would afford them the
- 10:11Speaker 1: luxury to lessen the load. For Barkley, I'm curious to
- 10:14Speaker 1: see if that's something that starts to transpire.
- 10:18Speaker 2: Hey, I still like a good night out, but I'm

- 13:58Speaker 2: great prices, and an experience made for Philly fans. Twenty
- 14:01Speaker 2: one and up.
- 14:03Speaker 1: Another pass defended logged by cornerback adri Jackson, who broke
- 14:07Speaker 1: on a picket throw to locket on a third and
- 14:09Speaker 1: eight to force a punch just before the break. Jackson,
- 14:13Speaker 1: who last week picked up his fifth career interception to
- 14:15Speaker 1: go along with a pair of passes defended, has settled
- 14:18Speaker 1: into his role as the eagles number two cornerback. He's
- 14:21Speaker 1: playing well at a critical point the season, as the
- 14:24Speaker 1: final stretch fast approaches. Some numbers for you. The Eagles
- 14:29Speaker 1: converted ten of thirteen third down attempts and finished with
- 14:32Speaker 1: just three penalties for thirty five yards. The team also
- 14:36Speaker 1: dominated in time of possession, controlling the controlling the ball
- 14:40Speaker 1: for thirty nine minutes and twenty five seconds. Look, any
- 14:45Speaker 1: win in the NFL is a big win, and it's
- 14:48Speaker 1: hard to look at this game. I know if you're
- 14:51Speaker 1: a fan and be excited, But the fact of the
- 14:54Speaker 1: matter is is the Eagles took care of business. If
- 14:56Speaker 1: they squeaked by against a team that looked the way
- 14:59Speaker 1: that the Raiders did, that would be alarming, even though
- 15:02Speaker 1: they won the way that the Raiders were playing early
- 15:05Speaker 1: in that game. You would like to see a dominant team,
- 15:09Speaker 1: one of the better teams in the NFL, like the
- 15:10Speaker 1: Eagles are. Pounce on a team like that, get out
- 15:13Speaker 1: to a fast, get out to an early lead, build
- 15:17Speaker 1: on that, smother them defensively, and then you're able to
- 15:20Speaker 1: carry that momentum into a short week. Remember the Eagles
- 15:23Speaker 1: play Saturday at Northwest Stadium next week or this week
- 15:28Speaker 1: where they take on the Washington Commanders for the first
- 15:31Speaker 1: time this season. So and I believe the Commanders even
- 15:34Speaker 1: won today. So a lot of the week picks back
- 15:39Speaker 1: up very quickly and the Eagles start to prepare. It's
- 15:42Speaker 1: gonna be a little bit of a truncated week, although
- 15:45Speaker 1: I believe it'll be Tuesday, Wednesday Thursday practice if I'm
- 15:49Speaker 1: correct on that. But it's gonna be a tr truncated week.
- 15:53Speaker 1: The NFC East matchup coming up, two teams that have
- 15:55Speaker 1: not played each other this late in the season, but
- 15:59Speaker 1: the big win of the Eagles, who shut the Raiders
- 16:01Speaker 1: out by a score of thirty one to zero. For now,
- 16:05Speaker 1: that's gonna do it for me. From Linked Financial Field,
- 16:09Speaker 1: I'm Andrew Decheco and I will catch you on the
- 16:12Speaker 1: next one.
