- 0:00Speaker 1: Listen the Huntsman Mental Health Foundation, where this is the
- 0:04Speaker 1: very first time I think we've ever done something like
- 0:06Speaker 1: this with Huntsman. It's they we're trying to raise money
- 0:10Speaker 1: for the Mental Health Foundation. You can make your donation
- 0:13Speaker 1: right now called eight eight eight nine eight nine zero
- 0:16Speaker 1: nine sixty three. Excuse me. Adam is here. He's the
- 0:21Speaker 1: vice president, vice president of Awareness. I like that.
- 0:24Speaker 2: What does that mean vice president of Awareness.
- 0:27Speaker 3: Well, what that means is that we just make everybody
- 0:29Speaker 3: aware of the fact that there is a cause for
- 0:31Speaker 3: mental health. And so that's really our marketing and communications efforts.
- 0:35Speaker 4: There's a cause for mental health.
- 0:37Speaker 2: Yes, sir.
- 0:38Speaker 3: A lot of people don't realize that they can actually
- 0:40Speaker 3: donate to mental health cause. In fact, ninety seven percent
- 0:43Speaker 3: of Americans can at least agree on one thing, and
- 0:45Speaker 3: that's that we're in a mental health crisis. But fewer
- 0:48Speaker 3: than two percent of philanthropic donations actually go.
- 0:51Speaker 2: To mental health cause.
- 0:52Speaker 3: Oh I see, and so we're trying to stop that,
- 0:55Speaker 3: right and trying to help people see, hey, this is
- 0:57Speaker 3: where you can fund all your money.
- 0:58Speaker 2: So we think a lot of people want to help
- 1:00Speaker 2: with mental health, but they just don't know where they
- 1:02Speaker 2: don't know how where tell them where their money is going.
- 1:05Speaker 3: So the money that we raise that Huntsman Mental Health
- 1:08Speaker 3: Foundation directly supports the work of the Huntsman Mental Health Institute.
- 1:13Speaker 3: And the institute is a hospital and they offer outpatient services.
- 1:17Speaker 3: They have the Crisis Care Center which is down in
- 1:19Speaker 3: South Salt Lake. It is the first of it's kind
- 1:21Speaker 3: in Utah and really with what they offer, one of
- 1:23Speaker 3: the very first in the country. Basically, it's like an
- 1:26Speaker 3: emergency room for mental health.
- 1:28Speaker 1: So if you're in crisis, so you can go there
- 1:31Speaker 1: twenty four hours a day, seven days a week or
- 1:33Speaker 1: and this is also I understand a place where you know,
- 1:37Speaker 1: police often encounter people who are having mental health crisis.
- 1:41Speaker 1: They're not really that equipped to deal with that kind
- 1:43Speaker 1: of thing. They can take people.
- 1:45Speaker 3: There, absolutely, Yeah, So a lot of times people that
- 1:48Speaker 3: have law enforcement run ins are in a mental health situation,
- 1:53Speaker 3: right and so typically officers rather to take them to
- 1:56Speaker 3: the emergency room, and with laws, the officers raptured to
- 2:00Speaker 3: stay in the emergency room for the duration with that person.
- 2:03Speaker 3: For the duration of the time there, they couldn't leave.
- 2:05Speaker 3: At the mental health crisis care center, they come in,
- 2:08Speaker 3: there's a private entrance for that person, so they don't
- 2:10Speaker 3: have to come in through the front.
- 2:11Speaker 2: It's they maintain their dignity.
- 2:13Speaker 3: The officers can bring them there, they get stabilized, and
- 2:15Speaker 3: the officers can go about doing their work.
- 2:18Speaker 2: It make things better for everybody across the board.
- 2:20Speaker 1: Yah, And there is there's some inpatient facility there as well.
- 2:23Speaker 2: Right if needed.
- 2:24Speaker 3: Most people come in, they spend twenty three hours there
- 2:27Speaker 3: at most, and then they can go out with a
- 2:29Speaker 3: plan to how to keep their mental health strong. But
- 2:32Speaker 3: if they need additional support, there is an impatient unit there.
- 2:35Speaker 3: I think it's important to point out though, Bill, you
- 2:37Speaker 3: mentioned the word crisis, but crisis can mean a lot
- 2:39Speaker 3: of things to different people.
- 2:41Speaker 4: Right.
- 2:41Speaker 2: One thing that a clinician over there shared with me.
- 2:44Speaker 3: Was that a crisis can look like, Oh, I'm going
- 2:46Speaker 3: on vacation, I don't have my medication I need to
- 2:49Speaker 3: get I need to get it filled quickly. They could
- 2:52Speaker 3: help you with that.
- 2:52Speaker 1: Oh that is good to know, and it's you know,
- 2:55Speaker 1: and it's it's nice to know that there's a place
- 2:57Speaker 1: if you have a family member that's just you just.
- 3:00Speaker 4: You don't know what to do with them.
- 3:02Speaker 1: It's it's so hard you can take them there and
- 3:06Speaker 1: say please, please help my family member here, and.
- 3:09Speaker 2: Yes and no questions asked, no questions asked.
- 3:12Speaker 3: And what I always say to people is don't overthink it,
- 3:14Speaker 3: just go Yeah.
- 3:15Speaker 1: And it's and all of this it costs money to do.
- 3:20Speaker 1: I mean because you have you have social workers there,
- 3:23Speaker 1: you have doctors there intake people. It's not and it's
- 3:27Speaker 1: a I haven't been over there, but it's a beautiful
- 3:29Speaker 1: I understand.
- 3:30Speaker 4: It's just a beautiful facility. Yeah.
- 3:32Speaker 1: Uh and and a place where you walk in and
- 3:34Speaker 1: you might you feel a little bit calmed just by
- 3:37Speaker 1: being there.
- 3:38Speaker 2: Absolutely, absolutely, So if.
- 3:40Speaker 1: You can help out to do this, support this work
- 3:43Speaker 1: with the Huntsman Foundation. Now, the Huntsman Family Foundation is
- 3:48Speaker 1: still matching every dollar.
- 3:50Speaker 3: You're matching every dollar that comes in right now. So
- 3:53Speaker 3: encourage everybody to double their donation. You mentioned build the
- 3:56Speaker 3: cost that crisis care center. It cost them eighty thousand
- 4:00Speaker 3: dollars a day just to keep the doors day day. Well,
- 4:03Speaker 3: that's why donations are so critical.
- 4:05Speaker 1: Eight eight eight nine eight nine zero nine six three
- 4:08Speaker 1: is the number you can make a one time donation,
- 4:11Speaker 1: or they would encourage you to become a monthly donor.
- 4:14Speaker 5: That's kind of set it and forget it, which is
- 4:16Speaker 5: kind of nice, like as little that you get this shirt,
- 4:19Speaker 5: it's a cause that you that you care about, and
- 4:22Speaker 5: you can just set it up and you don't have
- 4:24Speaker 5: to think about it anymore.
- 4:25Speaker 1: And you get your Brain is Beautiful t shirt, which
- 4:27Speaker 1: is and you can go to your your Brain is
- 4:29Speaker 1: Beautiful dot org. Always make a donation there as well.
- 4:33Speaker 1: But Gina just donated via text super.
- 4:36Speaker 2: Ea while we were doing all this.
- 4:38Speaker 5: Yeah, I just picked up my phone and I text
- 4:41Speaker 5: hope to three three nine eighty six. Immediately got a
- 4:44Speaker 5: link back, and I just did my Google pay on
- 4:47Speaker 5: my phone and you guys didn't even know I was
- 4:49Speaker 5: doing that.
- 4:50Speaker 2: Thank you, Gina.
- 4:51Speaker 1: Gina, she's secretive for she doesn't she doesn't want anybody
- 4:55Speaker 1: to know she makes these charitable donations until she talks
- 4:58Speaker 1: about it on the radio.
- 5:00Speaker 5: I just meant it's easy, Like if you're listening right
- 5:02Speaker 5: now at work, like a lot of people do.
- 5:03Speaker 2: Maybe you can't call.
- 5:05Speaker 5: Maybe being on the phone and making a phone call
- 5:07Speaker 5: is difficult for you to do.
- 5:09Speaker 2: You can do what I just right there.
- 5:10Speaker 1: Yeah eight eight nine eight nine zero nine sixty three.
- 5:13Speaker 1: That's the phone bank. Out in our CANTEENA there, We've

- 5:39Speaker 6: a suicidal state, and I went to the crisis care
- 5:44Speaker 6: center where I stayed less than twenty four hours, and
- 5:47Speaker 6: then they found me a bed upstairs and I stayed
- 5:51Speaker 6: in the intercent facilities.
- 5:54Speaker 4: And what was your experience talking a little bit about it?
- 5:56Speaker 6: Yeah, everyone was really professional, all of I had a
- 6:02Speaker 6: full care team. There was besides the prescribing psychiatrist, there
- 6:08Speaker 6: was a social worker and pure advocates. And the daily
- 6:14Speaker 6: routine was really helpful. And it is a beautiful garden outside.
- 6:20Speaker 6: He has a beautiful grounds and it's just the one
- 6:24Speaker 6: of the windows faces east and you can watch the Sundays.
- 6:28Speaker 4: And how long did you stay there, Lacey?
- 6:31Speaker 6: I was there for two weeks and then insurance said
- 6:35Speaker 6: I was well enough to leave, which I was.
- 6:38Speaker 1: But it was I mean, it was it was a
- 6:40Speaker 1: place where you could just get stable and you're and

- 6:54Speaker 5: We didn't have the means or tools to properly handle
- 6:57Speaker 5: his situation. Recommended he go to the hunts facility. He
- 7:00Speaker 5: did and it literally saved his life.
- 7:02Speaker 7: Thank you. Still, those are the kind of stories that
- 7:05Speaker 7: people need to hear and realize how important this facility is.
- 7:09Speaker 7: So call the phone bank. It's right out there. Eight
- 7:13Speaker 7: eight eight nine eight nine zero nine sixty three. Text
