- 0:00Speaker 1: What's up everyone and welcome to another episode of the
- 0:03Speaker 1: Epstein Chronicles. In this episode, we're going to pick up
- 0:06Speaker 1: where we left off with the Ted Waite testimony he
- 0:09Speaker 1: gave to Congress. Ms. Cathay, go back on the record. Question,
- 0:15Speaker 1: thank you for your patience. As always, if anything we
- 0:18Speaker 1: say is repetitive, forgive us. It's difficult to hear and hear,
- 0:21Speaker 1: but we're going to do our best to not repeat questions.
- 0:24Speaker 1: But thank you for your patience today. So we want
- 0:27Speaker 1: to return to something that we covered in the first hour.
- 0:30Speaker 1: And you mentioned the meeting that you estimated took place
- 0:33Speaker 1: in 2007 at the home of Secretary Clinton. Do you
- 0:36Speaker 1: remember mentioning that? Answer, yes. Question, who was all present
- 0:40Speaker 1: at that meeting? Answer, I don't recall for sure. Huma
- 0:43Speaker 1: Abedin would have been there. It was a very small group. Question,
- 0:47Speaker 1: and to reiterate what you stated earlier, Secretary Clinton was present, correct? Answer, yes. Question,
- 0:53Speaker 1: was President Clinton present? Answer, no. Question, you were present
- 0:57Speaker 1: and Ms. Maxwell was present. Answer, I believe so, yes. Question,
- 1:01Speaker 1: and what did you discuss at the meeting? Answer, it
- 1:04Speaker 1: was discuss her presidential run, I believe. Question, do you
- 1:08Speaker 1: have any calendar invites, emails, texts, or anything that indicates
- 1:12Speaker 1: that this meeting was scheduled or took place? Answer, not
- 1:15Speaker 1: that I know of. I don't think I have my calendar.
- 1:18Speaker 1: It doesn't go back that far. Ms. Callan, we're happy
- 1:21Speaker 1: to check. Ms. Cathay, great, thank you. Mr. Spector, and
- 1:25Speaker 1: you said it was to discuss Secretary Clinton's presidential run
- 1:29Speaker 1: in 2008. Was it a meeting about donations or was
- 1:32Speaker 1: it just a political, political strategy? Answer. It was more political,
- 1:36Speaker 1: you know, political strategy. I don't think it was an
- 1:39Speaker 1: explicit fundraising amount. There was not a price tag on
- 1:42Speaker 1: it or anything like that. It was just a small group. Question.
- 1:46Speaker 1: And she was looking for your input on political strategy
- 1:49Speaker 1: or Glenn Maxwell's? Answer. It was more whoever was invited
- 1:53Speaker 1: to the group. It wasn't just me. There was a
- 1:55Speaker 1: number of people there. Answer. Do you recall Glenn Maxwell
- 1:58Speaker 1: giving advice about political funding? Answer, I don't recall. I
- 2:02Speaker 1: don't believe so. I don't think so, no. Miss Cathay,
- 2:05Speaker 1: and do you recall, were you just invited, and then
- 2:08Speaker 1: you brought Ghislaine Maxwell? Or did she receive a separate invitation? Mr. Waite,
- 2:13Speaker 1: it probably would have been me. I was invited, and
- 2:16Speaker 1: I brought her with me. Miss Cathay, Miss Mace, if
- 2:18Speaker 1: you're ready to go forward. Miss Mace, Nancy Mace, all right,
- 2:22Speaker 1: I apologize. I'm probably going to repeat some of the
- 2:25Speaker 1: questions you've already been asked. How did you meet Ghislaine Maxwell? Mr. Wade,
- 2:30Speaker 1: I met Ghislaine Maxwell in 2003 in Hong Kong. Ms.
- 2:34Speaker 1: Mace in Hong Kong. Wade, yes. Mace, were the Clintons there? Answer,
- 2:39Speaker 1: Bill Clinton was there. Question, all right, was this a dinner? Mr. Wade, yes. Question,
- 2:45Speaker 1: and then, how were you invited to the dinner? Answer,
- 2:48Speaker 1: I was invited to the dinner. Happened to be traveling
- 2:50Speaker 1: in business in Hong Kong and China, and I saw
- 2:52Speaker 1: Bill Clinton was in town. Question, how were you invited
- 2:56Speaker 1: to the dinner? Answer, didn't. Doug Band invited me. Question,
- 3:01Speaker 1: Doug Band invited you? Answer, yes. Question, had you ever
- 3:04Speaker 1: been to the dinner with either of the Clintons before? Answer, yes. Question,
- 3:08Speaker 1: and when was that? Answer, I don't recall. I'd been
- 3:11Speaker 1: to multiple dinners with President Clinton. Miss Mace, why have
- 3:15Speaker 1: you been invited to multiple dinners with President Clinton? Answer,
- 3:19Speaker 1: I was a large donor to the Clinton Library. Question,
- 3:22Speaker 1: how much? Answer, 10 million. Question, okay, but you weren't
- 3:26Speaker 1: a political donor? Answer, no. Question, okay. Answer, not that
- 3:30Speaker 1: I can recall. I made a lot of political donations. Question,
- 3:34Speaker 1: you gave $ 1, 096 to like a legal fund. I think
- 3:37Speaker 1: for Clinton-Gore general election. Answer, yes. Question, but that was it.
- 3:43Speaker 1: Did you ever like email or text or call or
- 3:45Speaker 1: meet with Clinton directly? Either of the Clintons directly. Did
- 3:48Speaker 1: you ever like email, communicate with them, text, phone calls directly? Answer, no.
- 3:54Speaker 1: President Clinton doesn't really do email. Most of my communications
- 3:57Speaker 1: would have gone through One of his staff members. Question.
- 4:01Speaker 1: It would have gone through Doug Band? Answer. At the time,
- 4:03Speaker 1: Doug Band. Question. And how many times had you met
- 4:06Speaker 1: with Clinton previous to 2003? Wait. I don't. I can't
- 4:10Speaker 1: give you a specific number, but I would say a few. Question.
- 4:14Speaker 1: A few. What's a few? How do you define a few? Wait. Four, five, six, seven. Question.
- 4:20Speaker 1: And when was? When was the daughter, Clinton, when was
- 4:23Speaker 1: her wedding? Answer. I believe it was 2010. Question. 2010.
- 4:28Speaker 1: And you were, you were still dating, Glenn Maxwell at
- 4:31Speaker 1: the time? Answer, yes. Question, and how were you invited
- 4:35Speaker 1: to the wedding? Answer, I don't recall the exact invitation.
- 4:39Speaker 1: Were you invited to the wedding? Nancy Mace asks. Answer,
- 4:42Speaker 1: I was invited to the wedding. Question, was Glenn Maxwell
- 4:46Speaker 1: invited to the wedding? Answer, I don't recall. Question, was
- 4:50Speaker 1: she there as your guest? Answer, yeah, I believe so.
- 4:52Speaker 1: She came with me. I don't know if the invite.
- 4:54Speaker 1: I don't have a copy of the invite. If it
- 4:56Speaker 1: was to us. Question, have you ever been to the
- 4:59Speaker 1: Clintons' home? Answer, to the, gets cut off by Mace,
- 5:04Speaker 1: private residence, personal residence, Mr. Waite in Chappaqua, Mace, anywhere. Answer, yeah,
- 5:10Speaker 1: I've been to Chappaqua. Question, okay, how many times have
- 5:13Speaker 1: you been there? Waite, two or three. Question, was Ghislaine
- 5:17Speaker 1: Maxwell there with you? Answer, I don't recall her being
- 5:20Speaker 1: with me. Question, do you know when you were there,
- 5:22Speaker 1: at their residence, what year? Answer, it was quite a
- 5:25Speaker 1: while ago. I haven't been there in quite some time.
- 5:28Speaker 1: It would have been. Gets cut off by Mace. So
- 5:31Speaker 1: it would have been around 2003 and 2010. Wait, probably. Question.
- 5:36Speaker 1: Do you remember why you were there? Answer. It could
- 5:39Speaker 1: have been. It could have been after. I think there
- 5:41Speaker 1: was one time after 2010. Question. Do you remember why
- 5:45Speaker 1: you were there? Answer. Just to say hi. Question. How
- 5:48Speaker 1: did you get invited to the house? Answer. A lot
- 5:51Speaker 1: of times I was in the area. I would, you know,
- 5:54Speaker 1: Texas staff and say I'm in the area. Does the
- 5:56Speaker 1: president want to say hi? And vice versa. Question. Did
- 6:00Speaker 1: Ghislaine Maxwell do the same thing? She would text him
- 6:03Speaker 1: and see if he was in the area? Answer. I
- 6:05Speaker 1: don't know. Question. Were you ever in the area with
- 6:07Speaker 1: Ghislaine Maxwell? Answer. She lived in New York, so Chappaqua
- 6:12Speaker 1: is quite close. It was difficult for me to be
- 6:14Speaker 1: in New York or in upstate New York. Question. Were
- 6:17Speaker 1: you ever in Chappaqua with Ghislaine Maxwell? Mr. Waite, I
- 6:21Speaker 1: don't recall. Ms. Mace, that's convenient. Answer. I wish I
- 6:26Speaker 1: could be more helpful. I don't remember being there with Ms. Maxwell. Question,
- 6:30Speaker 1: how many times did you say that you've been to
- 6:32Speaker 1: the Clinton home? Mr. Waite, very few too. Question, okay,
- 6:36Speaker 1: you're visiting the president, former president of the United States
- 6:40Speaker 1: and don't know why you're there or if Glenn Maxwell,
- 6:42Speaker 1: your girlfriend was with you. Callan jumps in. I don't
- 6:46Speaker 1: think he said that she was with him. He doesn't recall. Wait,
- 6:50Speaker 1: she could have been. She definitely could have been. I'm
- 6:53Speaker 1: just not saying I recall her. I can't recall a
- 6:55Speaker 1: specific time when she was when I was there with her. Mr. Spector,
- 7:01Speaker 1: Miss Mace, if I may just clarify for the record
- 7:03Speaker 1: for a second, the 2007 meeting that we opened the
- 7:06Speaker 1: hour with, was that not at one of Clinton's residences? Mr. Waite,
- 7:11Speaker 1: that was at Secretary Clinton's residence in the area, in
- 7:14Speaker 1: the Washington, D.C. area. Spector, so there was one meeting
- 7:18Speaker 1: at a Clinton residence where Glenn Maxwell was there? Answer,
- 7:21Speaker 1: that one, yes. She was, she was for that one. Mace,
- 7:24Speaker 1: you recall that one? Answer, yes. Question, but not the
- 7:28Speaker 1: other two times in Chappaqua. Answer, I don't recall if
- 7:31Speaker 1: she was with me. No, she could have been. I'm sorry,
- 7:34Speaker 1: I'm just trying to be as exact here as I can. Mace, let's, okay,
- 7:39Speaker 1: all right. Do you have a scheduler that schedules you? Answer,
- 7:43Speaker 1: I do, not right now, I don't. Previous to that,
- 7:45Speaker 1: I have. Question, back in 2003 to 2010 timeframe, would
- 7:49Speaker 1: you have had a scheduler? Wait, typically yes. Question, would
- 7:54Speaker 1: this document still exist? Like your calendar, your meetings, etc.
- 7:58Speaker 1: Who was there? Wait, I don't believe they do, but
- 8:01Speaker 1: I'd be happy to check to see if they do. Mace,
- 8:04Speaker 1: would you, have you, put your meetings with Clinton on
- 8:07Speaker 1: your calendar? Answer, I don't know. Question, okay. Answer, if
- 8:11Speaker 1: it was a formal event, it would have been on
- 8:13Speaker 1: my calendar. Question, so the dinner in Hong Kong, or
- 8:16Speaker 1: whatever that was, would have been on your, gets cut
- 8:19Speaker 1: off by wait, that was not on my calendar. That
- 8:21Speaker 1: was a very impromptu thing. Mace, very impromptu thing. Wait,
- 8:25Speaker 1: I texted Doug Band and when I saw the Clintons
- 8:28Speaker 1: were in town and that would have not been done
- 8:31Speaker 1: through my scheduler. Mace, and I think this was asked earlier,
- 8:34Speaker 1: but I wanted to clarify. You have had a massage
- 8:37Speaker 1: that was set up by Glenn Maxwell. Have you ever
- 8:40Speaker 1: had a massage set up by Glenn Maxwell? Wait, I
- 8:43Speaker 1: believe so. There was a document that said yes. Question, okay.
- 8:47Speaker 1: Do you know how many times that happened? Wait, I
- 8:49Speaker 1: don't know how many times. Mace, do you know when
- 8:52Speaker 1: this was? Wait, that document was 2004, I believe. Question,
- 8:57Speaker 1: and do you know how many times it happened? Answer, no. Question, once,
- 9:00Speaker 1: five times, ten times, a dozen. Answer, I don't know.
- 9:05Speaker 1: I get frequent therapeutic sports massages. I never had a
- 9:08Speaker 1: massage of a sexual nature. Question, where do you generally
- 9:12Speaker 1: receive these massages? If Glenn Maxwell organized massage for you,
- 9:15Speaker 1: where would it have been? Answer, this one, do you
- 9:19Speaker 1: want me to refer to the document in general? Mace
- 9:21Speaker 1: in general. In general, I don't recall. Answer or question,
- 9:25Speaker 1: I don't have any documents in front of me. Question,
- 9:28Speaker 1: I would typically have a normal masseuse that was a
- 9:30Speaker 1: certified licensed massage therapist that was highly qualified for sports
- 9:34Speaker 1: type massage. Question, if you've admitted that Glenn Maxwell had
- 9:38Speaker 1: organized a massage or some massages for you, where would
- 9:42Speaker 1: it have been? Wait, she does not. She does one
- 9:45Speaker 1: for me. Gets cut off by Callan. The document indicates
- 9:49Speaker 1: she may have organized one massage. Wait, one massage in Florida. Mace,
- 9:53Speaker 1: did you have any reason to suspect this masseuse was
- 9:56Speaker 1: then a minor? Wait, no. Mace, did they look young? Wait, no.
- 10:00Speaker 1: I don't remember the masseuses, but that would not have happened.
- 10:04Speaker 1: Question okay. That's all I have for now. Spector, if
- 10:08Speaker 1: I may just follow up on a couple of documents
- 10:10Speaker 1: that were mentioned in the last hour, introduced in the
- 10:12Speaker 1: last hour. I believe it's a minority exhibit F. The
- 10:16Speaker 1: email with the subject line WG Wicked Galane. Just to
- 10:20Speaker 1: make sure the record is clear, you, I think, testify
- 10:22Speaker 1: that you, you know very clearly, you do not know
- 10:26Speaker 1: what she's referring to with regard to a trip with
- 10:28Speaker 1: three 18-year-olds, it seems, but your reply do tell, you
- 10:32Speaker 1: naughty girl. What did you mean by naughty? Answer. I mean, again,
- 10:36Speaker 1: I don't recall the specific message. This is her being
- 10:39Speaker 1: kind of funny and smart. I don't recall any situation
- 10:43Speaker 1: with three 18-year-olds, so I don't remember what this was.
- 10:46Speaker 1: Question and my apologies. I know you had a relationship
- 10:49Speaker 1: with Ms. Maxwell, so was naughty more of a sexual reference,
- 10:53Speaker 1: or was it a reference to some sort of untoward thing? Answer, no.
- 10:57Speaker 1: I think she, yeah, she's saying she was wicked. Doesn't
- 11:00Speaker 1: mean she did something, you know. It's more like clever. Question,
- 11:04Speaker 1: so you don't think maybe you were referencing her doing
- 11:06Speaker 1: something immoral? Answer, I don't read anything sexual into this
- 11:10Speaker 1: in this note. Question, but regardless of sexual, otherwise immoral
- 11:15Speaker 1: or illegal? Answer, I don't see that in this note. Question,
- 11:19Speaker 1: and you don't recall knowing about any immoral, cuts them
- 11:21Speaker 1: off and definitely not. Question, and then again, minority exhibit,
- 11:25Speaker 1: I believe it's C or D, is the JP Morgan
- 11:28Speaker 1: statement that reflects a $ 7. 2 million deposit that was made
- 11:33Speaker 1: to Ghislaine Maxwell. I believe you testified that was you,
- 11:36Speaker 1: you know, essentially something that you did to ensure that
- 11:39Speaker 1: she could continue the lifestyle that she had come to have.
- 11:44Speaker 1: Is that right? Answer, yeah. It was the end of
- 11:46Speaker 1: our relationship. Like I said, she was devastated. I felt bad. Question.
- 11:50Speaker 1: Did she communicate with you that she had financial trouble? Answer.
- 11:54Speaker 1: I don't recall her communicating financial troubles, but I don't
- 11:57Speaker 1: believe she had significant resources. Question. Why did you think
- 12:02Speaker 1: she didn't have the resources to continue? Because if I may,
- 12:06Speaker 1: was the house that she was in New York, she
- 12:08Speaker 1: owned that prior to dating you. Is that right? Answer.
- 12:11Speaker 1: She told me she did. Question, so why would she
- 12:14Speaker 1: need $ 7. 2 million to continue, you know, a lifestyle that
- 12:17Speaker 1: she had seemingly before you dated her? Answer, yeah, for
- 12:20Speaker 1: the upkeep. I just thought it was the right thing
- 12:22Speaker 1: to do. Question, did Ms. Maxwell, did either of you
- 12:25Speaker 1: request or go through with any form of non-disclosure agreement
- 12:31Speaker 1: or any kind of agreement about disclosing information about the other? Answer,
- 12:35Speaker 1: not that I know of. Question, so she never asked
- 12:37Speaker 1: you to keep anything confidential about your relationship with her? Answer, no. Question, Ms. Cathay,
- 12:44Speaker 1: did you mention that she owned the house prior to
- 12:46Speaker 1: you dating you, and that's what she told you? Did
- 12:49Speaker 1: you have any reason to believe that was not the case,
- 12:51Speaker 1: that someone else owned the house and she stayed there? Answer, no. Spector,
- 12:56Speaker 1: and I'm sorry, one last slide aside. We were talking
- 12:59Speaker 1: about fundraisers and other things having to do with the Clintons,
- 13:02Speaker 1: and I just want to be clear. Did you ever
- 13:04Speaker 1: give any money to the White House Historical Society or
- 13:07Speaker 1: Association while President Clinton was President of the United States? Wait,
- 13:12Speaker 1: not that I can recall. Not that I know of, no. Mr. Spector,
- 13:16Speaker 1: did you ever attend any functions for the White House
- 13:19Speaker 1: Historical Society or Association while President Clinton was president? Mr. Wait, no,
- 13:24Speaker 1: not that I can recall. All right, folks, we're going
- 13:27Speaker 1: to wrap up right here. And in the next episode
- 13:29Speaker 1: dealing with the topic, we're going to pick up where
- 13:31Speaker 1: we left off. All the information that goes with this
- 13:34Speaker 1: episode can be found in in the description box. What's up, everyone,
- 13:38Speaker 1: and welcome to another episode of the Epstein Chronicles. In
- 13:42Speaker 1: this episode, we're diving right back in to the Ted
- 13:45Speaker 1: Waite testimony that he gave to Congress. Ms. Mace, I
- 13:51Speaker 1: have a few more questions. Ms. Katze, go ahead. Ms. Mace,
- 13:54Speaker 1: if you don't mind, we're voting today, apparently, so I'm
- 13:56Speaker 1: going to miss my flight. Mr. Spector, go ahead. Ms. Mace,
- 14:00Speaker 1: you said earlier in your testimony that you had met
- 14:03Speaker 1: with Epstein or seen him, you know, happenstance. sort of
- 14:06Speaker 1: running into him or whatever. Did you ever see women
- 14:09Speaker 1: that looked young around him or near him at any
- 14:11Speaker 1: of those encounters? Mr. Waite, on two occasions, he was
- 14:14Speaker 1: with young women who? Miss Mace, did she look under 18? Mr. Waite, no,
- 14:19Speaker 1: I would have guessed. In her early 20s? Miss Mace, okay. Mr. Waite,
- 14:24Speaker 1: she looked like a model type. I don't believe you
- 14:26Speaker 1: were in the room. I said I think there was
- 14:28Speaker 1: Eastern European and I was told that she was a girlfriend.
- 14:32Speaker 1: Miss Mace? And did you ever hear any rumors about
- 14:35Speaker 1: his behavior like in your circles in polite society? Did
- 14:38Speaker 1: you ever hear rumors? Wait, not that I can recall.
- 14:42Speaker 1: Miss Mace, what was his behavior and what it may
- 14:45Speaker 1: have been? Mr. Wait, not that I can recall. Miss Mace, okay.
- 14:50Speaker 1: And then, have you? You said that you financially supported
- 14:52Speaker 1: Ghislaine Maxwell, I think to the tune of around 30
- 14:55Speaker 1: Gs a month. Was that normal for a girlfriend? Had
- 14:58Speaker 1: you given that amount of money to your girlfriends on
- 15:01Speaker 1: average to help them maintain their lifestyles? Mr. Waite, I
- 15:05Speaker 1: haven't had that many girlfriends where I provided. She was
- 15:07Speaker 1: the first one I provided that level of financial support to. Ms. Mace,
- 15:12Speaker 1: what would have been? Have you ever provided that support
- 15:15Speaker 1: to a girlfriend previously or post-Galane? Mr. Waite, no, I
- 15:19Speaker 1: was married previous to that. Ms. Mace, okay. Mr. Waite,
- 15:22Speaker 1: and this was later in our relationship. Ms. Mace, so
- 15:26Speaker 1: Galane Maxwell is the only girlfriend that you've ever paid
- 15:29Speaker 1: 30 Gs to a month? Mr. Waite, I did provide
- 15:32Speaker 1: support to my current wife. before we got married and
- 15:35Speaker 1: still do. Mace, and then the $ 7 million in the
- 15:38Speaker 1: month that you broke up in 2010, September 2010, excuse me,
- 15:42Speaker 1: $ 8 million. It's a lot of money. Maybe it's $ 10
- 15:45Speaker 1: or $ 11. But for the amount of money that you
- 15:47Speaker 1: gave her in September of 2010, had you ever given
- 15:50Speaker 1: a girlfriend that amount of money? Mr. Waite, no. Mr.
- 15:54Speaker 1: Scaldani jumps in just to clarify, Mr. Waite, was it
- 15:57Speaker 1: the amount that's reflected on the document is $ 7. 2 million?
- 16:01Speaker 1: Is that your recollection? Mr. Wait, whatever the document says.
- 16:05Speaker 1: It's called Annie, okay? Miss Mace, but you'd never given
- 16:08Speaker 1: a girlfriend the amount of money? Wait, no. Mace, and
- 16:12Speaker 1: it was the month that you broke up, so this
- 16:15Speaker 1: was like a breakup gift? Wait, yeah. Mace, you know,
- 16:19Speaker 1: kind of like a divorce. You were together a long time. Wait,
- 16:22Speaker 1: it was like a palimony settlement type thing. She was
- 16:26Speaker 1: planning on spending the rest of my life with me
- 16:30Speaker 1: and was giving, you know. Mace cuts him off. Did
- 16:33Speaker 1: you ever have, like, an agreement in, like, writing with her?
- 16:36Speaker 1: When you were together about financials or NDAs or anything
- 16:39Speaker 1: like that? Wait, no. Mace, okay. Mr. Spector, we've had
- 16:43Speaker 1: an additional member join. Mr. Kana, do you mind introducing
- 16:46Speaker 1: yourself for the record? Ro Kana, I represent California's 17th District. Ms. Cathay,
- 16:53Speaker 1: thank you, Mr. Waite. Thank you for bearing with us.
- 16:56Speaker 1: We're jumping around a lot here and onto a lot
- 16:58Speaker 1: of different topics. I'm going to step back a little
- 17:01Speaker 1: bit into something that you mentioned very briefly in the
- 17:03Speaker 1: very first hour. You talked about the 2008 plea deal
- 17:07Speaker 1: that was given to Mr. Epstein, his subsequent imprisonment, and
- 17:10Speaker 1: everything that came out about Ms. Maxwell following that. So
- 17:14Speaker 1: my question is, did you learn that she had been
- 17:16Speaker 1: labeled publicly as a co-conspirator of Mr. Epstein while you
- 17:20Speaker 1: were still dating her? Mr. Waite, no. Ms. Cathay, you
- 17:24Speaker 1: did not learn that until after you broke up with her? Mr. Waite, yeah.
- 17:27Speaker 1: I think it was much later. Mr. Scaldani, can you
- 17:30Speaker 1: clarify when she was identified as a co-conspirator? Ms. Cathay,
- 17:35Speaker 1: the reporting did not come out until, I'm sorry, I
- 17:37Speaker 1: don't have the specific year, but it didn't come out
- 17:39Speaker 1: until a few years after he was in prison. But
- 17:41Speaker 1: that's why we're clarifying today when you found out. Mr. Waite, yeah,
- 17:46Speaker 1: it wasn't until after we broke up. Scaldani jumps in.
- 17:50Speaker 1: And just for the record, I don't think any co-conspirators
- 17:53Speaker 1: were identified in the 2008 conviction and the process leading
- 17:56Speaker 1: up to that. Ms. Cathay, that's correct. She was not
- 17:59Speaker 1: identified in the plea agreement, but it became public, and
- 18:02Speaker 1: she was labeled, labeled publicly as a co-conspirator as time
- 18:06Speaker 1: went on. Mr. Scaldani, okay. Ms. Cathay, and that's what
- 18:09Speaker 1: we're referring to. Ms. Mace, what year was that? Ms. Cathay,
- 18:13Speaker 1: I don't have a specific year when the reporting came out,
- 18:16Speaker 1: but it was several years after he was in prison. Well,
- 18:19Speaker 1: he was never in prison, so there's that. Ms. Callan,
- 18:22Speaker 1: and which I think he went to prison twice. Cathay,
- 18:24Speaker 1: the first time he went to prison, which was in 2008. No,
- 18:27Speaker 1: he didn't go to prison. These people don't even know
- 18:30Speaker 1: the story. How are they going to get us to justice? Ms. Callan,
- 18:35Speaker 1: I think I mean, I don't have any recollection of
- 18:37Speaker 1: any co-conspirators being named in that time frame. So I
- 18:40Speaker 1: think in order for us to all pine on that,
- 18:42Speaker 1: we would have to see a document. Mr. Spector, the
- 18:45Speaker 1: non-prosecution agreement names four women, none of whom are Ms.
- 18:48Speaker 1: Maxwell per my recollection, but it did name four during
- 18:52Speaker 1: his initial arrest. And it says these four and all
- 18:55Speaker 1: other potential co-conspirators. And subsequent to that, There are media
- 18:59Speaker 1: reports that indicated that Ms. Maxwell may have been involved.
- 19:02Speaker 1: That's what we're referring to. Ms. Callan, I don't think
- 19:06Speaker 1: that there's. There was not. It wasn't widely reported at
- 19:09Speaker 1: the time. I also think that most of the documents
- 19:11Speaker 1: were under seal until recently. Mr. Spector, Mr. Waite, I
- 19:15Speaker 1: think you've already been clear, but I want to be
- 19:18Speaker 1: clear again. Do you have? Did you have any knowledge
- 19:20Speaker 1: during your relationship with Ms. Maxwell that she was considered
- 19:24Speaker 1: to be involved in Jeffrey Epstein's crimes in any way? Mr. Waite, no. Ms. Cathay, question,
- 19:30Speaker 1: thank you for clarifying that. During the course of your
- 19:33Speaker 1: relationship then, you not knowing that she was being accused
- 19:37Speaker 1: in any way, did she defend herself to you and
- 19:40Speaker 1: her involvement with Epstein in his capacity as her employer? Answer, yeah.
- 19:45Speaker 1: I recall late in our relationship her denying involvement with
- 19:48Speaker 1: all his crimes. Question, did she ever defend Mr. Epstein? Answer,
- 19:52Speaker 1: I don't recall her defending him. Question, do you generally
- 19:55Speaker 1: remember whether she thought the allegations were true? Answer, I
- 19:59Speaker 1: don't recall getting into that level of detail. Question, I mean,
- 20:02Speaker 1: he was her ex-boyfriend. He was convicted of a serious crime.
- 20:06Speaker 1: You don't recall any conversation about her general feelings towards
- 20:09Speaker 1: his convictions? Answer, like I said, she downplayed the event.
- 20:13Speaker 1: She made it seem like he, you know, he got
- 20:15Speaker 1: a better deal and he had the conversation. I just
- 20:17Speaker 1: remember her denying any direct involvement with it. When I asked,
- 20:21Speaker 1: because I asked about it, like I said, I wish
- 20:23Speaker 1: I would have done more research at the time, around
- 20:25Speaker 1: the 2008 timeframe. I wish I would have. I didn't
- 20:28Speaker 1: think to. Question, and including the timeframe that follows your breakup,
- 20:34Speaker 1: did you ever contact her again once the news started
- 20:36Speaker 1: coming out more frequently? and she was in the press
- 20:39Speaker 1: and being labeled as a co-conspirator involved, did you ever
- 20:43Speaker 1: contact her again to discuss that? Answer, no. Question, okay.
- 20:47Speaker 1: I'd like now to turn to Ms. Maxwell's civil suits specifically.
- 20:51Speaker 1: Did you assist Ms. Maxwell in any way with any
- 20:54Speaker 1: of the civil cases that were brought against her? Answer, no. Question,
- 20:58Speaker 1: and more generally, did you ever witness anything suspicious about Ms.
- 21:02Speaker 1: Maxwell in her relationship with young women or girls? Answer, no. Ms. Callan,
- 21:07Speaker 1: He's answered that like six times now. Miss Cathay, I understand.
- 21:10Speaker 1: It's very hard to hear in the back of the room.
- 21:12Speaker 1: Miss Callan, it's in the record six times. Miss Cathay, understood. Question,
- 21:16Speaker 1: I'd like to shift gears a little bit. How often
- 21:19Speaker 1: would you travel with Miss Maxwell? Answer, sometimes every other week. Sometimes,
- 21:24Speaker 1: or most every other week, because I had my four children,
- 21:27Speaker 1: three of whom were teenage girls at the time. So
- 21:30Speaker 1: every other week from Sunday to Sunday. So if I
- 21:33Speaker 1: did travel with her, it would have been at most
- 21:35Speaker 1: every other week. Question, and where were you traveling to
- 21:39Speaker 1: every other week? Answer, various places around the world. I
- 21:43Speaker 1: had worked very hard for 20 years, you know, now
- 21:45Speaker 1: I was retired. So I was, you know, seeing the world,
- 21:48Speaker 1: going to as many places as I could, learning a lot. Question,
- 21:52Speaker 1: did you ever take any business trips with Ms. Maxwell? Answer,
- 21:56Speaker 1: not that I can recall specifically for business. Question, and
- 21:59Speaker 1: you mentioned your children. But who else would travel with
- 22:03Speaker 1: you whenever you would take these trips? Answer, yeah, it
- 22:06Speaker 1: was typically just the two of us. Question, and I'd
- 22:09Speaker 1: like to shift now to Mr. Epstein's property specifically. I
- 22:12Speaker 1: recognize that you mentioned many of these in your opening statement,
- 22:15Speaker 1: but for the purpose of the record, we are going
- 22:17Speaker 1: to go through each one. Answer, okay. Question, have you
- 22:21Speaker 1: ever been to Mr. Epstein's island, Little St. James? Answer, no. Question,
- 22:25Speaker 1: did you ever visit Mr. Epstein's Palm Beach home? Answer,
- 22:29Speaker 1: one time I was in Palm Beach with Ms. Maxwell.
- 22:32Speaker 1: She said that she had to retrieve something from the property.
- 22:35Speaker 1: We stopped there. I didn't get out of the car.
- 22:37Speaker 1: She invited me in. I said no. So, I never
- 22:40Speaker 1: went inside, but I was in front of the house.
- 22:43Speaker 1: Was Mr. Epstein there? Answer, not to my knowledge. Question
- 22:47Speaker 1: by Mr. Spector, why didn't you go in? Mr. Waite,
- 22:50Speaker 1: I was told. I mean, it was, it was just weird.
- 22:53Speaker 1: It was the ex-boyfriend's, you know, ex-boyfriend's house. I just didn't.
- 22:56Speaker 1: I didn't want to go in there. Ms. Cathay, question,
- 22:59Speaker 1: did Ms. Maxwell tell you to stay in the car? Answer, no.
- 23:02Speaker 1: She invited me in. Question, did you ever visit Mr.
- 23:05Speaker 1: Epstein in his New York townhome? Answer, no. Question, did
- 23:09Speaker 1: you ever visit the New Mexico ranch, Zorro Ranch in
- 23:12Speaker 1: New Mexico? Answer, no. Question, did you ever visit Mr.
- 23:16Speaker 1: Epstein's Paris apartment? Answer, no. Question, did you ever visit
- 23:20Speaker 1: the office on 301 East 66th Street that Mr. Epstein owned? Answer, no. Question,
- 23:27Speaker 1: did you ever visit New Albany, Ohio? Answer, no. Question,
- 23:30Speaker 1: did you ever visit anywhere else that was owned or
- 23:33Speaker 1: managed by Mr. Epstein or his staff? Answer, not that
- 23:36Speaker 1: I know of. Question, did you ever fly on any
- 23:39Speaker 1: of Mr. Epstein's private aircraft? Answer, no. Question, Mr. Epstein
- 23:44Speaker 1: ever invite you to fly on his private aircraft? Answer, no. Question,
- 23:47Speaker 1: did Ms. Maxwell ever invite you to fly on Mr.
- 23:50Speaker 1: Epstein's private aircraft? Answer, no. Question, did you ever fly
- 23:54Speaker 1: on any of Ms. Maxwell's aircraft? Answer, I didn't know Ms.
- 23:58Speaker 1: Maxwell had aircraft. She was a licensed helicopter pilot, I said. Spector,
- 24:02Speaker 1: did you ever fly on any aircraft piloted by Ms. Maxwell? Mr. Waite,
- 24:07Speaker 1: I had a helicopter that she piloted, but only with
- 24:09Speaker 1: another pilot on board at the same time, so I
- 24:12Speaker 1: had my own helicopter. Question, did Mr. Epstein ever fly
- 24:16Speaker 1: on your private plane? Answer, no. Question, did you ever
- 24:19Speaker 1: fly with Mr. Epstein on any aircraft? Answer, no. Question,
- 24:24Speaker 1: were you ever approached or questioned by law enforcement? of
- 24:27Speaker 1: any kind in regards to Ms. Maxwell or her crimes? Answer, no. Question,
- 24:32Speaker 1: were you ever approached or questioned by law enforcement of
- 24:35Speaker 1: any kind in regards to Mr. Epstein and his crimes? Answer, no. Ms. Mace,
- 24:40Speaker 1: do you think it's odd? This is an opinion. You
- 24:43Speaker 1: can tell me the answer or not, but do you
- 24:45Speaker 1: think that it's odd that no law enforcement apparatus made
- 24:47Speaker 1: any inquiries with you at all about, you know, Epstein
- 24:50Speaker 1: or Maxwell's potential involvement with Epstein because you all had
- 24:54Speaker 1: a relationship for so long? Did you find that odd? Mr. Waite,
- 24:58Speaker 1: that's a good question. Odd might not be the right term.
- 25:01Speaker 1: I was kind of expecting, in a way. Miss Waite,
- 25:06Speaker 1: Miss Mace, weird? Ted Waite, I wouldn't say it's weird. No,
- 25:09Speaker 1: I had no direct involvement. Mace, yeah. But just being
- 25:13Speaker 1: an associate of hers, did you find it off-putting at all?
- 25:16Speaker 1: You know what I mean? Like, I would have assumed
- 25:18Speaker 1: that law enforcement would have investigated anyone that she had
- 25:21Speaker 1: any kind of relationship, business, or personal or otherwise, for
- 25:25Speaker 1: an extended period of time. You know what I mean? Mr. Waite, yeah.
- 25:29Speaker 1: I'm not familiar with law enforcement, so I don't know. Ms. Mace,
- 25:33Speaker 1: I think it's weird. Like, there's no investigation at all.
- 25:35Speaker 1: Her behavior. Mr. Waite, I would have been happy to cooperate. Ms. Mace, yeah.
- 25:42Speaker 1: All right, folks, we're going to wrap up right here.
- 25:44Speaker 1: And in the next episode dealing with the topic, we're
- 25:46Speaker 1: going to pick up where we left off. All the
- 25:48Speaker 1: information that goes with this episode can be found in
- 25:51Speaker 1: the description box. What's up, everyone? And welcome to another
- 25:54Speaker 1: episode of the Epstein Chronicles. In this episode, we're going
- 25:58Speaker 1: to pick up where we left off with the Ted
- 26:00Speaker 1: Way testimony he gave to Congress. Ms. Cathay. Question. Did
- 26:05Speaker 1: you ever assist Ms. Maxwell in finding employees to work
- 26:08Speaker 1: for her? Answer. To work for her? No. Question. You
- 26:12Speaker 1: never helped her search for candidates or anything? Answer. No.
- 26:15Speaker 1: Not that I can think of. Question. I'd like to
- 26:19Speaker 1: return now to Minority Exhibit marked as G. Get that back.
- 26:23Speaker 1: This is located on the first page of EFTA number...
- 26:26Speaker 1: ending 9058. There's an email from Glenn Maxwell to Ted
- 26:30Speaker 1: Waite dated April 2nd, 2004. And the first sentence says,
- 26:35Speaker 1: one of the things I'm working on is finding someone
- 26:37Speaker 1: to work for you. I think I have some potential candidates.
- 26:41Speaker 1: Do you know what Ms. Maxwell is referring to here? Answer,
- 26:43Speaker 1: I do not. Question, do you know generally of her
- 26:48Speaker 1: ever finding employees to work for you? Answer, I think
- 26:51Speaker 1: she did assist with finding like housekeeping staff when I
- 26:54Speaker 1: was setting up a new house. after my divorce with
- 26:56Speaker 1: my wife. Question, did she ever find anyone to help
- 26:59Speaker 1: you in the office with your foundation? Answer, I don't
- 27:02Speaker 1: really know. I don't believe so. Ms. Mace, can I
- 27:05Speaker 1: ask one last question? Then I'm out. Ms. Cathay, yeah. Mace, okay.
- 27:10Speaker 1: Going back to the $ 7, 211, 238 gift to Maxwell, was there
- 27:16Speaker 1: any legal document between the two of you about what
- 27:19Speaker 1: that money was for or why anything for any legal
- 27:22Speaker 1: or liability reason? Was an attorney involved? Was there any
- 27:26Speaker 1: documentation about what it was? Mr. Waite, it was handled
- 27:31Speaker 1: by my staff later. I did not want to have
- 27:33Speaker 1: any contact with or relationship with her, so I think
- 27:37Speaker 1: the final negotiations were handled by my finance and legal team. Ms. Mace,
- 27:43Speaker 1: did you normally pay off ex-girlfriends? Is that a thing? Ms. Callan,
- 27:46Speaker 1: just for the record, he was married when he founded
- 27:48Speaker 1: his company. Then he dated Ms. Maxwell, and then he
- 27:51Speaker 1: got married again shortly after. Mace, okay, but there would
- 27:55Speaker 1: have been some kind of legal document between the two
- 27:57Speaker 1: of you about that money. And do you know how
- 28:01Speaker 1: you arrived to that figure? It's a very specific figure. Mr. Waite,
- 28:05Speaker 1: I believe it was a deduction for the gift tax. Mace, okay. Waite,
- 28:10Speaker 1: it was deducted from it. Mace, all right, that's it,
- 28:12Speaker 1: thank you. Mr. Spector, you said it was the negotiations
- 28:17Speaker 1: that were handled by your staff. Answered, the final elements, yeah,
- 28:20Speaker 1: they were handled by my team. Question, so just to
- 28:22Speaker 1: be clear, was there some kind of negotiation back and
- 28:25Speaker 1: forth with Maxwell about the amount? Answer, I don't recall.
- 28:29Speaker 1: I think it was. I recall her not being happy
- 28:31Speaker 1: with the amount, wanting more, but that doesn't matter. Question,
- 28:34Speaker 1: she wanted more than $ 7. 2 million? Answer, yeah, I didn't.
- 28:38Speaker 1: So gets cut off by the person asking the questions.
- 28:42Speaker 1: I'm sorry, just to be clear, she wanted more than $ 7. 2 million? Answer,
- 28:47Speaker 1: I don't know. I didn't want to have anything to
- 28:49Speaker 1: do with it. I had my team handle it at
- 28:51Speaker 1: the end. Question, so from your recollection, maybe someone on
- 28:54Speaker 1: your staff informed you that she was unhappy with the $ 7. 2 million? Answer, yeah.
- 28:59Speaker 1: I think someone on my staff might have said she
- 29:01Speaker 1: was very unhappy with the breakup, and she was not,
- 29:03Speaker 1: you know, in a good state. She was quite devastated
- 29:06Speaker 1: by the breakup, so at that point, I didn't want
- 29:09Speaker 1: to get directly involved, and I had my team handle
- 29:11Speaker 1: the final details. Question, sure, thank you. Ms. Cathay, question,
- 29:15Speaker 1: to that point, outside of the cash, $ 7. 2 million, and
- 29:19Speaker 1: other money you might have given her, Did you have
- 29:21Speaker 1: assets that you and Ms. Maxwell owned together that was
- 29:24Speaker 1: tied up? Answer, we didn't have any assets that we
- 29:27Speaker 1: owned together. Question, staying on the topic generally, did you
- 29:30Speaker 1: have a professional or financial relationship with Ms. Maxwell outside
- 29:34Speaker 1: of your romantic relationship with her? Answer, no, like professional
- 29:39Speaker 1: or financial. Other than the financial support, the $ 30, 000 a month,
- 29:43Speaker 1: there was no financial relationship. Question, so to clarify, did
- 29:47Speaker 1: you have any sort of business relationship with Ms. Maxwell?
- 29:50Speaker 1: Answer no. Question, you never invested any money in business
- 29:54Speaker 1: ventures that she brought to you? Answer, not that I
- 29:56Speaker 1: can recall. She invested her own money in some business ventures,
- 30:00Speaker 1: but I don't recall having any investments that we did together.
- 30:04Speaker 1: We kept everything separate. Question, so you and Ms. Maxwell
- 30:08Speaker 1: never had any joint bank accounts? Answer, no. Question, are
- 30:11Speaker 1: you familiar with LMAX LLC? Answer, that was the name
- 30:15Speaker 1: she used frequently. Question, and that was the name of
- 30:18Speaker 1: an entity she owned? Answer, I'm not familiar with that
- 30:21Speaker 1: entity specifically or what it did, but she used that,
- 30:24Speaker 1: the LMAX name. But it sounds like something that she
- 30:27Speaker 1: would have had. Question understood. Do you know of anything
- 30:30Speaker 1: else that she named Elmax? You say she used it
- 30:33Speaker 1: for other things? Answer, I think her email address was Elmax,
- 30:36Speaker 1: I think. That was a company like her. So I
- 30:39Speaker 1: don't know if at some point, I don't know if
- 30:41Speaker 1: it was a company or what it was really. Question understood.
- 30:45Speaker 1: And since we're on the timeline, we've jumped around to
- 30:47Speaker 1: the end of y'all's relationship. We've touched on it in
- 30:50Speaker 1: various ways. But you mentioned ultimately the relationship ended because
- 30:54Speaker 1: you knew that you weren't going to get married. And
- 30:57Speaker 1: we talked about Mr. Rothstein. So Ms. Maxwell said in
- 31:00Speaker 1: an interview with the DOJ in 2025 that the relationship, quote,
- 31:05Speaker 1: couldn't survive the blackmail threats that were issued against you
- 31:08Speaker 1: by Mr. Rothstein. So why would Ms. Maxwell say that
- 31:11Speaker 1: is the reason the relationship ended? Well, because she's a liar.
- 31:15Speaker 1: That's why. Answer, I have no idea. Question, did she
- 31:19Speaker 1: ever express to you during the breakup that that was
- 31:21Speaker 1: the reason for the relationship ending? Answer, not that I
- 31:24Speaker 1: can recall. Question, so in no way, for you anyway,
- 31:27Speaker 1: did the blackmail threats of Mr. Rothstein contacting you have
- 31:30Speaker 1: anything to do with the breakup? Answer, no. Mr. Scaldani,
- 31:34Speaker 1: were you aware of any blackmail threats at the time? Answer, no. Spector,
- 31:39Speaker 1: was there anything about your relationship with Ms. Maxwell that
- 31:42Speaker 1: could have been leveraged for blackmail? Answer, no. Ms. Callan,
- 31:46Speaker 1: and just to be clear, it's not his understanding that
- 31:49Speaker 1: he was ever being blackmailed. It was a business deal.
- 31:51Speaker 1: It was his understanding. that's being proposed, and he declined.
- 31:56Speaker 1: And I think there's documents to that effect. Ms. Cathay,
- 32:00Speaker 1: outside of the business deal, the proposal, did Mr. Rothstein
- 32:03Speaker 1: ever contact you regarding lawsuits against Ms. Maxwell? Mr. Waite,
- 32:07Speaker 1: I never had any direct contact with Mr. Rothstein. Specter,
- 32:11Speaker 1: with interactions of that sort, I mean, you're a very
- 32:14Speaker 1: successful person, of course, and you just mentioned, of course,
- 32:17Speaker 1: you have staff. Would an interaction like that, you know,
- 32:21Speaker 1: these sorts of discussions... Would that even normally get go
- 32:24Speaker 1: straight to you? Or is that the kind of thing
- 32:26Speaker 1: your staff would handle anyway? Mr. Waite, it came through
- 32:29Speaker 1: a friend of mine at the time. Rothstein approached a friend,
- 32:33Speaker 1: or they got together, and he approached my right-hand person
- 32:36Speaker 1: at the time. Mr. Spector, who was that? Mr. Waite,
- 32:39Speaker 1: the guy that ran my family office, he worked for
- 32:42Speaker 1: me for 30 plus years. And so Mr. Descala approached him,
- 32:46Speaker 1: and then he brought it to my attention. Because it
- 32:49Speaker 1: was a friend of mine. He probably never would have
- 32:51Speaker 1: even brought it to my attention. Never would have made
- 32:54Speaker 1: it to my desk if it wasn't somebody that I
- 32:55Speaker 1: knew that brought it in. Spector, okay, thank you. Ms. Cathay, question,
- 33:01Speaker 1: did you inform Ms. Maxwell about the contact? Answer, I
- 33:03Speaker 1: believe I did. I believe that there's an email that
- 33:06Speaker 1: says I did. Question, do you remember any conversation outside
- 33:10Speaker 1: of those emails about Mr. Rothstein contacting you that you
- 33:13Speaker 1: had with Ms. Maxwell? Answer, I don't recall any conversations, no. Question,
- 33:19Speaker 1: was the first time that Ms. Maxwell had heard about
- 33:21Speaker 1: what Mr. Rothstein brought up? Answer, I don't know. Mr.
- 33:24Speaker 1: Grant jumps in. You mentioned Ms. Maxwell and yourself went
- 33:28Speaker 1: to Mr. Epstein's Palm Beach house. She invited you in,
- 33:31Speaker 1: but you decided to wait in the car. I believe
- 33:34Speaker 1: you said she needed to get something from the house.
- 33:36Speaker 1: Do you know what she had to get? Answer, no. Question,
- 33:39Speaker 1: did she walk out with anything? Answer, I don't remember. Question,
- 33:43Speaker 1: and when you were in the Palm Beach... Were you
- 33:46Speaker 1: guys already there just for a vacation or some other purpose? Answer. Yeah,
- 33:50Speaker 1: we were there for some other purpose. Question. It wasn't targeted.
- 33:53Speaker 1: Trip to Palm Beach? Answer. No. Mr. Grant, thank you.
- 33:56Speaker 1: Miss Cathay. For clarity of the record, because we've bounced
- 34:00Speaker 1: around so much, did you maintain any other form of
- 34:02Speaker 1: relationship with Miss Maxwell following the end of your romantic relationship? Mr. Waite, no.
- 34:09Speaker 1: Miss Cathay, and I believe you did mention this earlier,
- 34:11Speaker 1: but when was the last time that you spoke to
- 34:13Speaker 1: Miss Maxwell? Mr. Waite. The last time I recall speaking
- 34:16Speaker 1: to her was at this Economist Ocean Conference in San
- 34:20Speaker 1: Francisco that she appeared at. And it was quite shocking
- 34:23Speaker 1: and surprising that she was there, but that was the
- 34:26Speaker 1: last time I remember speaking to her. I'm not sure
- 34:29Speaker 1: what year that was. Mr. Spector, did any proxy or
- 34:33Speaker 1: mutual friend, intermediary of any kind, ever try to pass
- 34:36Speaker 1: a message from Ms. Maxwell or tell you that she
- 34:39Speaker 1: wanted to talk to you after you broke up? Mr. Waite, no. Ms. Cathay,
- 34:44Speaker 1: and who put on the ocean event? Mr. Waite, The Economist,
- 34:48Speaker 1: The Magazine. Ms. Cathay, The Economist. Okay, thank you. I
- 34:51Speaker 1: missed that. Ms. Callan, I think we've tried to look
- 34:54Speaker 1: for the date and we can't find it. Mr. Spector,
- 34:58Speaker 1: it was an oceanfront conference though. Answer, ocean conservation. That's
- 35:02Speaker 1: where I spend most of my time. Question, and so Ms. Maxwell,
- 35:06Speaker 1: was there likely for a terramar project? Is that right? Answer, exactly. Question,
- 35:10Speaker 1: did she ever? I think you've already, by the way,
- 35:13Speaker 1: in my last question, answered this. But did her or
- 35:16Speaker 1: any of her proxies ever ask for financial assistance or
- 35:19Speaker 1: donations for that project? Answer. No, I did not donate
- 35:23Speaker 1: anything to the project. Mr. Spector, thank you. Ms. Cathay. Question.
- 35:28Speaker 1: Did you have any involvement with Terramar Project? Answer. No. Question. Mr. Wade.
- 35:34Speaker 1: Are you familiar with the Clinton Foundation? Answer. Yes. Question.
- 35:38Speaker 1: And what was the nature and extent of your involvement
- 35:41Speaker 1: in the Clinton Foundation? Answer. No. I've gone on trips
- 35:44Speaker 1: with Bill Clinton when he's representing the Clinton Foundation. I
- 35:47Speaker 1: made some smaller donations to the foundation. Then I said
- 35:50Speaker 1: the major donation was the Clinton Library. I think that
- 35:54Speaker 1: went through the Clinton Foundation, but it was specifically for
- 35:56Speaker 1: the library. Question, how many trips did you go on
- 36:00Speaker 1: with President Clinton? Answer, I remember accompanying him on a
- 36:04Speaker 1: trip in like maybe the two big international trips, one
- 36:07Speaker 1: to South Africa and one to when he was doing
- 36:10Speaker 1: the tsunami relief and AIDS trip in Papua New Guinea
- 36:13Speaker 1: and Indonesia and Thailand. Question, do you remember what year
- 36:17Speaker 1: these trips were? Answer, I do not. Question, do you remember?
- 36:21Speaker 1: Do you remember who else was on the trip or
- 36:24Speaker 1: either of these trips? Answer, on the one, I believe Ms.
- 36:27Speaker 1: Maxwell was on that trip. Question, which one was that? Answer,
- 36:32Speaker 1: the one that went to Banda Achi, Indonesia, Thailand, areas affected,
- 36:36Speaker 1: President Clinton, for the tsunami relief. There was a major
- 36:40Speaker 1: tsunami that happened in the mid-2000s. It was very devastating.
- 36:43Speaker 1: He went on that trip. And then he did an AIDS,
- 36:46Speaker 1: signed an AIDS treaty in Papua New Guinea. Question, and Ms.
- 36:50Speaker 1: Maxwell was not on the trip to Papua New Guinea? Answer,
- 36:53Speaker 1: I believe she was. Question, she was on the trip? Answer,
- 36:56Speaker 1: I believe she was. Question, so forgive me for misunderstanding.
- 37:00Speaker 1: There were two trips with Ms. Maxwell. Answer, that was
- 37:04Speaker 1: one long trip. That was one long trip. Question, that
- 37:07Speaker 1: was one long trip. And the other trip was to,
- 37:10Speaker 1: gets cut off by, wait. The other trip was Ms.
- 37:13Speaker 1: Maxwell was not on, that I recall, and I went
- 37:15Speaker 1: to South Africa. Question, and what was that trip for? Answer,
- 37:19Speaker 1: that was for Nelson Mandela's 85th birthday. Question, okay, was Mr.
- 37:23Speaker 1: Epstein on the trip? Answer, no. Question, was he on
- 37:27Speaker 1: the other trip? Answer, no. Question, okay, thank you. All right, folks,
- 37:32Speaker 1: we're going to wrap up right here. And in the
- 37:33Speaker 1: next episode, dealing with the topic we're going to pick
- 37:35Speaker 1: up where we left off. All the information that goes
- 37:38Speaker 1: with this episode can be found in the description box.
- 37:42Speaker 1: What's up everyone and welcome to another episode of the
- 37:45Speaker 1: Epstein Chronicles. In this episode, we're getting right back to
- 37:49Speaker 1: the Ted Waite conversation with Congress. Question. Okay, thank you.
- 37:56Speaker 1: Can you give us a brief description of what the
- 37:58Speaker 1: Clinton Global Initiative is? Answer. Answer. The Clinton Global Initiative
- 38:02Speaker 1: followed on after Davos, but to tackle some of the
- 38:06Speaker 1: biggest issues, but to get people to actually make commitments
- 38:09Speaker 1: to do something about it. Question, and what was your
- 38:12Speaker 1: involvement with CGI? Answer, I would attend some of the early,
- 38:16Speaker 1: early events. It was very successful in the early days. Question,
- 38:20Speaker 1: did you help establish CGI in any way? Answer, no. Question,
- 38:25Speaker 1: did Ms. Maxwell assist in establishing CGI? Answer, she told
- 38:29Speaker 1: me she did. Question, did Mr. Epstein assist in the
- 38:32Speaker 1: establishing of CGI? Answer, not that I know of. Question,
- 38:36Speaker 1: were you involved in any way in receiving or managing
- 38:39Speaker 1: funding that was given to CGI? Answer, no. Question, were
- 38:43Speaker 1: you aware at the time that you were involved with
- 38:46Speaker 1: CGI that Mr. Epstein had made a donation to CGI
- 38:50Speaker 1: in 2006? Answer, no. Question, did you and Ms. Maxwell...
- 38:54Speaker 1: And you have kind of answered this already, but did
- 38:56Speaker 1: you and Ms. Maxwell maintain communication with either President Clinton
- 39:00Speaker 1: or Secretary Clinton while you were involved with CGI? Answer,
- 39:04Speaker 1: that would have been all with President Clinton, not Secretary Clinton. Mr. Spector, question,
- 39:11Speaker 1: and would those communications have been through Doug Band? Answer,
- 39:14Speaker 1: typically through Doug Band or one of his other staff,
- 39:17Speaker 1: staff members, or, you know, just communication when we saw
- 39:20Speaker 1: each other at the various CGI events. Question, What's your
- 39:23Speaker 1: knowledge of Mr. Band's relationship with Ms. Maxwell answer their
- 39:28Speaker 1: relationship goes back quite some time to when Mr. Band
- 39:31Speaker 1: and President Clinton left the White House together and Doug
- 39:34Speaker 1: went along with Mr. Clinton question so they were Ms.
- 39:38Speaker 1: Maxwell and Band they were friends or something else answer
- 39:41Speaker 1: they were friends I believe so question do you have
- 39:44Speaker 1: any knowledge of whether they had any form of romantic
- 39:47Speaker 1: or sexual relationship answer no Ms. Cathay, question, did you
- 39:52Speaker 1: attend the CGI conference that occurred in September of 2013? Answer, possibly.
- 39:57Speaker 1: I don't remember attending one. I attended one later when
- 40:00Speaker 1: he did an ocean thing. I was trying to get
- 40:02Speaker 1: CGI to do more ocean work because that's my primary thing.
- 40:07Speaker 1: I don't know what year that was. I don't recall. Question,
- 40:10Speaker 1: reporting indicates that Maxwell was invited to an event in
- 40:13Speaker 1: 2013 that was honoring her work in ocean conservation. Do
- 40:18Speaker 1: you recall being at that event? Answer, no, I do not. Question,
- 40:21Speaker 1: did you know that Ms. Maxwell was being honored at
- 40:23Speaker 1: an event prior to it happening? Answer, no. Question, did
- 40:27Speaker 1: either President Clinton or Secretary Clinton communicate with you that Ms.
- 40:31Speaker 1: Maxwell would be honored by CGI? Answer, no. Question, and
- 40:36Speaker 1: when was the last time you attended an event for CGI? Answer,
- 40:40Speaker 1: I don't recall. It was, I believe, that Ocean Conference.
- 40:43Speaker 1: There's a photo of it, but I don't know what
- 40:45Speaker 1: year it was. Question, do you recall the last CGI
- 40:48Speaker 1: event that you attended with Ms. Maxwell? Answer, no. Question,
- 40:52Speaker 1: did you and Ms. Maxwell work together on any CGI initiatives? Answer, no,
- 40:57Speaker 1: not that I can recall. Question, did Ms. Maxwell ever
- 41:00Speaker 1: discuss her travel with other people with you? Was there
- 41:03Speaker 1: anyone significant that you can recall that she would take
- 41:06Speaker 1: trips with? Answer, no. Could you be a little more
- 41:09Speaker 1: specific maybe? Question, sure, I'll start more specifically. Did she
- 41:14Speaker 1: often travel with Mr. Epstein? Answer, not that I'm aware of.
- 41:17Speaker 1: Not during our relationship. Question, and did she ever? Gets
- 41:21Speaker 1: cut off by Mr. Waite. She wouldn't have told me
- 41:23Speaker 1: if she did. Now Spector jumps in. What do you
- 41:26Speaker 1: mean by that? Answer, I don't remember her ever saying
- 41:29Speaker 1: she was traveling with Mr. Epstein. I probably wouldn't have
- 41:32Speaker 1: been happy with that. Question, so she wouldn't have told
- 41:36Speaker 1: you because she would have known that you would not
- 41:38Speaker 1: have been happy if she was traveling with her ex-boyfriend? Answer, yeah,
- 41:42Speaker 1: traveling with her ex-boyfriend. Question, but you had no reason
- 41:45Speaker 1: to suspect that she was hiding it for that reason? Answer, no. Yeah, exactly.
- 41:50Speaker 1: I don't have a reason to expect that. Question, but
- 41:53Speaker 1: is it possible she would have hidden travel with Mr.
- 41:56Speaker 1: Epstein from you? Answer, it's possible. Question, she would have
- 42:00Speaker 1: motive to do so, is that right? Answer, yeah. Through
- 42:02Speaker 1: the course of preparing for this testimony, I've discovered a
- 42:05Speaker 1: lot of things I didn't know about her relationship with Mr.
- 42:08Speaker 1: Epstein in the time that we were dating. Ms. Cathay.
- 42:12Speaker 1: Did she ever tell you that she was traveling with
- 42:14Speaker 1: anyone else that was related to her work with Mr. Epstein? Mr. Waite, no,
- 42:19Speaker 1: not that I can recall. Question by Mr. Grant. Mr. Waite,
- 42:24Speaker 1: at any point during your relationship with Ms. Maxwell, and
- 42:27Speaker 1: we'll include the couple years before that in early 2000s,
- 42:30Speaker 1: did any other friend of yours mention Jeffrey Epstein in
- 42:33Speaker 1: any other way? Answer, I never heard of Jeffrey Epstein
- 42:36Speaker 1: until I met him in 2003. Question, and did any
- 42:40Speaker 1: other investors or anyone else try to get you to
- 42:42Speaker 1: invest with them in any way? Answer, no. Question, and
- 42:46Speaker 1: outside of your family and your lawyers, have you discussed
- 42:49Speaker 1: this investigation or interview with anyone else? Answer, just with
- 42:53Speaker 1: some friends, I think. Question, and which friends would that be? Answer, again,
- 42:57Speaker 1: I don't really want to name them specifically, but I
- 43:00Speaker 1: have kind of a rule that I would rather have
- 43:02Speaker 1: somebody hear something from me than from somebody else. So
- 43:05Speaker 1: I did some texts to family, friends, and other people
- 43:08Speaker 1: that this was going to be happening, because I'd rather
- 43:10Speaker 1: they hear it from me than read it in the press.
- 43:13Speaker 1: Question understood, Mr. Spector. Question, did anyone attempt to influence
- 43:17Speaker 1: your testimony? Answer, no. Question, we're approaching the end of
- 43:21Speaker 1: our hour, but just kind of one general question. We
- 43:24Speaker 1: talked a little bit about this, but just to kind
- 43:27Speaker 1: of maybe put a finer point on it. You were
- 43:29Speaker 1: dating Ms. Maxwell. She was working for her ex-boyfriend, who
- 43:32Speaker 1: had been accused of crimes against women and girls. you're
- 43:35Speaker 1: aware that he's been accused of those crimes and eventually
- 43:39Speaker 1: served time for it, you said that you took Ms.
- 43:41Speaker 1: Maxwell at her word and that she wasn't involved, so
- 43:44Speaker 1: I understand that's your testimony. But were you not, you know,
- 43:48Speaker 1: this was your girlfriend at the time. Were you not
- 43:50Speaker 1: worried for her safety or maybe legal exposure for working
- 43:54Speaker 1: for a person like that? Answer again. It was my
- 43:57Speaker 1: understanding that I didn't know that she was still working
- 44:00Speaker 1: for him at that point in time. I knew she
- 44:02Speaker 1: had worked for him in the past, but I didn't
- 44:04Speaker 1: know that there was or privy to what their relationship
- 44:07Speaker 1: actually was. She was quite stressed around the time of 2009.
- 44:11Speaker 1: I'm not exactly sure around some of the subpoenas, depositions,
- 44:15Speaker 1: testimony that she was supposed to give around some of those.
- 44:18Speaker 1: Some of the lawsuits that named Epstein. She never told
- 44:21Speaker 1: me that she was named in a lawsuit, but she
- 44:23Speaker 1: was quite stressed about it. Question, and as you know,
- 44:27Speaker 1: of course, you're a very successful person, extremely successful person,
- 44:31Speaker 1: and you're a public figure, and you're providing at this
- 44:33Speaker 1: time question more comes up about you when we google
- 44:37Speaker 1: you than about me so by my standards you certainly
- 44:40Speaker 1: are and you know you're giving miss maxwell your girlfriend
- 44:43Speaker 1: a thirty thousand dollar a month salary already during this
- 44:46Speaker 1: time and you're hearing about these depositions and again you're
- 44:49Speaker 1: aware of her past association with mr epstein were you
- 44:53Speaker 1: not worried about your own exposure maybe pr exposure for
- 44:57Speaker 1: being connected to her at that time or even were
- 45:00Speaker 1: you worried that she was going to come asking for
- 45:02Speaker 1: money to defend herself I know you said that you
- 45:04Speaker 1: didn't provide more legal fees, but were you worried about that? Answer.
- 45:08Speaker 1: I was never worried about any financial exposure. I should
- 45:11Speaker 1: have been worried about PR exposure. I'm here today. Question,
- 45:15Speaker 1: but you weren't at the time? Answer. I was not
- 45:17Speaker 1: at the time. Didn't cross my mind. I wish it would. Mr. Spector,
- 45:21Speaker 1: thank you. Mr. Giacchetti. Quick question. You testified earlier that
- 45:26Speaker 1: Maxwell was on one of these CGI flights. Is that correct? Answer.
- 45:32Speaker 1: I don't believe it was a CGI specific flight. I'm
- 45:34Speaker 1: not sure. Gets cut off. Question. A flight with Clinton? Answer. Yeah. Question.
- 45:40Speaker 1: And in what capacity was Ms. Maxwell on that trip? Answer.
- 45:43Speaker 1: She would have been with me. Question. So she would
- 45:45Speaker 1: have been invited by you as a plus one? Answer. Yeah.
- 45:49Speaker 1: Or we were both invited. Yes. I'm not exactly sure
- 45:51Speaker 1: how that came about, but we both went on the trip. Mr. Giacchetti.
- 45:55Speaker 1: Thank you. Mr. Spector. Question. I'm sorry. One more on
- 45:59Speaker 1: my end here. Understanding that they're different companies, but I
- 46:02Speaker 1: would say generally in the same industry, have you ever
- 46:05Speaker 1: had a conversation with Bill Gates about Jeffrey Epstein or
- 46:08Speaker 1: Ghislaine Maxwell? Answer, no. Question, do you have any knowledge
- 46:13Speaker 1: of Bill Gates' relationship, any first-hand knowledge aside from media reports,
- 46:17Speaker 1: about Bill Gates' relationship with Mr. Epstein or Ms. Maxwell? Answer, no. Question,
- 46:22Speaker 1: no knowledge. Answer, no knowledge. Question, Have you ever had
- 46:26Speaker 1: any communication with other Microsoft executives about Jeffrey Epstein or
- 46:30Speaker 1: Ghislaine Maxwell? Answer. There were some Microsoft executives that Ghislaine
- 46:35Speaker 1: was friends with. Question. Who was that? Answer. But that
- 46:38Speaker 1: was way back. Not related to. Mr. Scaldani, I think
- 46:42Speaker 1: the question was whether you spoke with Microsoft executives about
- 46:45Speaker 1: Epstein or Maxwell. Is that right? Spectre, yes. Wait, no, never.
- 46:50Speaker 1: I did not. Mr. Spectre, I'm sorry because you said it.
- 46:54Speaker 1: Have you ever had a conversation with Ms. Maxwell about
- 46:57Speaker 1: her relationship with Microsoft executives? Answer, it was way back.
- 47:02Speaker 1: She had some friends. She had a lot of friends
- 47:04Speaker 1: who worked for Microsoft, so? Question, of course. When you
- 47:08Speaker 1: say way back, do you mean she was friends with
- 47:10Speaker 1: them early? Answer, during our relationship, she had a couple
- 47:13Speaker 1: of friends that worked at Microsoft, but I don't think
- 47:16Speaker 1: they had anything to do with Gates and his relationship
- 47:19Speaker 1: with Epstein. I think it was totally separate. Question, do
- 47:22Speaker 1: you know if those friends of Maxwell at Microsoft Had
- 47:24Speaker 1: a relationship with Jeffrey Epstein in any way? Answer, no,
- 47:28Speaker 1: I don't believe they did. Question, you don't believe they
- 47:30Speaker 1: did or you don't know? Answer, I don't know. Question,
- 47:34Speaker 1: thank you. Ms. Cathay, Mr. Wade, I want to give
- 47:37Speaker 1: you the opportunity as we're coming up on the end
- 47:39Speaker 1: of our second hour, we've gone back and forth on
- 47:42Speaker 1: a lot of topics today. And so just with hindsight
- 47:45Speaker 1: that you have now and after a seven years long
- 47:47Speaker 1: relationship and spending time in preparation for this, Is there
- 47:50Speaker 1: anything else that you observed about Ms. Maxwell in the
- 47:53Speaker 1: course of your relationship or after that you have not
- 47:56Speaker 1: mentioned today? Mr. Waite, nothing I can think of that
- 47:59Speaker 1: would be relevant to the victims. Ms. Cathay, and is
- 48:02Speaker 1: there anything about your role with Jeffrey Epstein again you
- 48:05Speaker 1: have not been given the opportunity to say today? Ms. Callan,
- 48:09Speaker 1: he doesn't have a role with Jeffrey Epstein. Mr. Waite, no. Cathay,
- 48:13Speaker 1: do you have any thoughts, any remarks about Mr. Epstein
- 48:16Speaker 1: that you were not given an opportunity to discuss today? Mr. Waite,
- 48:20Speaker 1: nothing I can think of. Spectre, is there anything about,
- 48:24Speaker 1: you've already testified that Jeffrey Epstein was arrogant and off-putting,
- 48:27Speaker 1: I think were the words you used. Again, understanding that
- 48:31Speaker 1: at any time you know the reason, you've already given
- 48:34Speaker 1: your reasons for feeling that at the time, but with
- 48:36Speaker 1: the benefit of hindsight, is there anything about Jeffrey Epstein's
- 48:39Speaker 1: character or the things he did, that now knowing the
- 48:43Speaker 1: reporting that strikes you differently? Mr. Waite, again, there were
- 48:46Speaker 1: things that I knew. And now that we know in
- 48:49Speaker 1: the press, I mean, the one thing I wish I
- 48:51Speaker 1: would have done, as I think I testified before, is
- 48:53Speaker 1: around 2008, done more research around that point, which I
- 48:56Speaker 1: did not do. Ms. Cathay, we'll go off the record. Redacted,
- 49:01Speaker 1: we can go back on. Mr. Waite, my colleague, has
- 49:04Speaker 1: a few questions. Then we'll go back to me, and
- 49:06Speaker 1: then we'll finish up our questions. Redacted, okay, we'll be
- 49:10Speaker 1: quick here. I would just like to introduce Minority Exhibit
- 49:13Speaker 1: H into the record. I'll give you all a minute
- 49:16Speaker 1: to read that. Question. This is an email between you, Mr. Way.
- 49:20Speaker 1: and miss maxwell in october of 2004 and once you've
- 49:24Speaker 1: had a minute to look that over in the email
- 49:26Speaker 1: miss maxwell asks you if you ordered a massage table
- 49:29Speaker 1: yet to which you reply you have not and then
- 49:32Speaker 1: she proceeds to say if no i will forward to
- 49:34Speaker 1: erin what to order who is erin answer my assistant
- 49:38Speaker 1: at the time question okay And did Ms. Maxwell often
- 49:41Speaker 1: interface with your assistant at the time? Answer, I believe so. Question,
- 49:47Speaker 1: and what would they talk about? Answer, I don't know. Question, okay. Answer, schedules.
- 49:51Speaker 1: My schedule. Question, and ordering things for you and things
- 49:56Speaker 1: like that. Answer, no verbal response. Question, and do you
- 50:00Speaker 1: know why Ms. Maxwell was working with your assistant specifically
- 50:03Speaker 1: to order the massage table? Answer, I assume to get massages. Question,
- 50:08Speaker 1: for you to get massages. Answer, I assume so. Question, okay.
- 50:12Speaker 1: And you have previously talked to Ms. Maxwell about wanting
- 50:15Speaker 1: a massage table? Answer, I don't remember the exchange. Question, okay.
- 50:19Speaker 1: Do you know if you ended up getting the massage table? Answer,
- 50:23Speaker 1: I assume at some point I did. I get frequent massages. Question, okay.
- 50:27Speaker 1: And you would get them at your home? Answer, yes. Question,
- 50:30Speaker 1: and masseuses would come to your house? Would Ms. Maxwell
- 50:34Speaker 1: ever be involved in arranging those masseuses to come to
- 50:37Speaker 1: your house? Answer, no. I don't recall her specifically arranging
- 50:40Speaker 1: a massage. It's just something I've done for quite some time. Also,
- 50:44Speaker 1: I was going through a divorce at this time. Question, okay,
- 50:48Speaker 1: that's all I have on this exhibit. Okay, then I'll introduce,
- 50:51Speaker 1: I think, what might be our last piece of paper
- 50:53Speaker 1: for you, and that'll be Minority Exhibit I. Question, that
- 50:58Speaker 1: document is six or seven pages long. There's just one
- 51:01Speaker 1: bit of content that relates to you on the second-to-last page.
- 51:04Speaker 1: You're welcome to scan. Answer, second-to-last page. Question, second to
- 51:08Speaker 1: last page. Bottom of the second to last page. There's
- 51:11Speaker 1: a paragraph related to you, and that's it. But I'm
- 51:14Speaker 1: happy to give your counsel a moment to look it over. Answer, okay. Question,
- 51:18Speaker 1: so this is another FBI Form 302. It's a summary
- 51:22Speaker 1: of an interview that the FBI conducted with an individual.
- 51:26Speaker 1: And elsewhere in the notes, the individual says that they
- 51:28Speaker 1: worked for Mr. Epstein and Ms. Maxwell between the years
- 51:32Speaker 1: of 96 and 2002. So before you would have ever
- 51:35Speaker 1: met Ms. Maxwell. And the woman says, the person says,
- 51:38Speaker 1: that at one point, were Ms. Maxwell's personal assistant. And
- 51:42Speaker 1: during that gap, so not overlapping with your relationship with her.
- 51:46Speaker 1: But the person says, here at the bottom of the
- 51:48Speaker 1: second to last page, ending in 808, that in or
- 51:51Speaker 1: around 2007 or 8, the person had a job interview
- 51:54Speaker 1: with Maxwell in California, and the person was interviewing to
- 51:58Speaker 1: work for you, Ted Waite, who Maxwell was dating at
- 52:00Speaker 1: the time. It was a project manager position. The person
- 52:04Speaker 1: did not get the job, and the person thought Maxwell
- 52:06Speaker 1: had said, It was okay if she did not get
- 52:09Speaker 1: the job because it was labor-intensive. Do you have any
- 52:12Speaker 1: recollection of this interview? Answer, no. Question, do you have
- 52:15Speaker 1: any knowledge, direct or indirect, of the interview that the
- 52:18Speaker 1: person is describing? Answer, no, I don't recall. Question, you
- 52:22Speaker 1: touched on this previous round, but did Ms. Maxwell often
- 52:25Speaker 1: interview staff on your behalf? Answer, she was experienced in
- 52:29Speaker 1: recruiting household staff, and so she spent, I believe, she
- 52:32Speaker 1: was involved in it. Question, to your knowledge... Did Ms.
- 52:35Speaker 1: Maxwell ever interview or recruit anybody for your staff who
- 52:39Speaker 1: either you knew to be under the age of 18
- 52:41Speaker 1: or seemed unusually young to you? Answer no. Question, to
- 52:45Speaker 1: your knowledge, did anyone refer to you to work for Ms.
- 52:48Speaker 1: Maxwell ever disclose anything about Epstein or Maxwell committing crimes
- 52:52Speaker 1: of any kind? Answer no. Question, did you have any
- 52:56Speaker 1: knowledge of Ms. Maxwell interviewing staff for you when that
- 52:59Speaker 1: staff member had previously worked for Epstein? Answer, I don't
- 53:02Speaker 1: recall that. Question that it's on the document, thank you.
- 53:06Speaker 1: A couple of last questions. Have you ever met somebody
- 53:09Speaker 1: by the name of Faith Cates? Answer, Cates. Question, Cates. Answer,
- 53:14Speaker 1: that name doesn't sound familiar to me. Question, and is
- 53:17Speaker 1: it fair to deduce from your reaction that you're not
- 53:19Speaker 1: familiar with who that person is? Answer, no, I don't recall. Question,
- 53:23Speaker 1: did you ever meet somebody by the name Jean-Luc Brunel? Answer,
- 53:27Speaker 1: I believe one of the instances where I ran into Mr.
- 53:29Speaker 1: Epstein on the street in St. Barts, he was with
- 53:32Speaker 1: Jean-Luc Brunel. Question apart, and that was a pretty limited interaction,
- 53:36Speaker 1: I think, as you described. Is that right? Answer, yes. Question,
- 53:40Speaker 1: I know you can't remember specifically, but maybe it's a
- 53:42Speaker 1: two-minute conversation on the sidewalk type of thing. Answer, yeah,
- 53:45Speaker 1: two or three. Question, did you have any knowledge outside
- 53:48Speaker 1: of interactions as to who Mr. Brunel was? Answer, I
- 53:51Speaker 1: believe Ms. Maxwell said he owned a modeling agency. Question,
- 53:55Speaker 1: did Ms. Maxwell describe any personal or professional relationship that Mr.
- 53:59Speaker 1: Brunel may have had with Mr. Epstein? Answer, she said
- 54:03Speaker 1: they were friends. Question, personal friends? Answer, yes. Question, did Ms.
- 54:07Speaker 1: Maxwell ever describe any kind of business or financial relationship
- 54:11Speaker 1: between Mr. Brunel and Mr. Epstein? Answer, not that I
- 54:14Speaker 1: can recall. Question, did Ms. Maxwell ever describe that she
- 54:19Speaker 1: herself had any kind of personal or business relationship with Brunel? Answer, no. Question,
- 54:25Speaker 1: and did Ms. Maxwell ever mention or describe anything at
- 54:27Speaker 1: all with respect to Mr. Brunel? that struck you as
- 54:30Speaker 1: possibly criminal or ethically problematic? Answer, nothing as criminal, but
- 54:35Speaker 1: she did not. She expressed a dislike for him, I recall. Question, well,
- 54:40Speaker 1: what do you recall as the nature for the reason
- 54:42Speaker 1: of that dislike? Answer, I don't recall. It's just like
- 54:45Speaker 1: he was not a good person, I think is what
- 54:47Speaker 1: she said. Question, do you have any sense of somebody
- 54:51Speaker 1: cannot be a good person in a variety of ways?
- 54:54Speaker 1: Do you recall whether Ms. Maxwell ever implied that the
- 54:56Speaker 1: not good person concept came from any type of financial misconduct,
- 55:00Speaker 1: bad personal ethics, sexual-related misconduct, any color commentary? Wait, I
- 55:06Speaker 1: don't recall. Question by redacted. And is it correct to
- 55:10Speaker 1: say that you personally never, or should I say Mr. Brunel,
- 55:12Speaker 1: was arrested in France in 2020 for various alleged crimes?
- 55:16Speaker 1: He took his own life before his trial could proceed.
- 55:19Speaker 1: Is it correct that you yourself never had any knowledge
- 55:22Speaker 1: of Mr. Brunel's alleged crimes before those crimes became public? Answer, no.
- 55:26Speaker 1: Question we have encountered several times. The question of whether
- 55:30Speaker 1: or not Mr. Epstein ever held himself out as a
- 55:32Speaker 1: recruiter for Victoria's Secret. Do you have any direct or
- 55:35Speaker 1: indirect knowledge of that topic? Answer, no. Question, I think
- 55:39Speaker 1: that that wraps up our questions. Is there anything else
- 55:42Speaker 1: that you would like to share with the committee that
- 55:44Speaker 1: you can think might be useful to our investigation? Answer,
- 55:47Speaker 1: nothing that I can think of right now. Redacted with that,
- 55:51Speaker 1: we can go off the record. All right, folks, that's
- 55:53Speaker 1: going to do it for the Ted Waite congressional testimony. Now,
- 55:59Speaker 1: the next one we're going to dive into is the
- 56:01Speaker 1: transcript from Kathy Rumler and her conversation with Congress. All
- 56:05Speaker 1: the information that goes with this episode can be found
- 56:09Speaker 1: in the description box.
