- 0:00Speaker 1: You're listening to Bill Handle on demand from KFI AM
- 0:04Speaker 1: six forty. I know.
- 0:12Speaker 2: And now Handle on the news. Ladies and gentlemen, here's
- 0:16Speaker 2: Bill Handle. Ah, good morning everybody, Bill Handle. Here it
- 0:32Speaker 2: is a Monday morning, April twenty seven.
- 0:36Speaker 3: And putting my paperwork together here, I just you know
- 0:39Speaker 3: why I'm always losing my stories constantly. Because I lose
- 0:44Speaker 3: my stories constantly.
- 0:47Speaker 2: I just happen to do that.
- 0:48Speaker 3: People think that it's a joke that I don't. I
- 0:52Speaker 3: can't keep the paperwork together on the show. I can't
- 0:58Speaker 3: keep the paperwork together. You literally can't ask gets a
- 1:02Speaker 3: joke anymore. Yeah, I mean it's true. You can ask well,
- 1:05Speaker 3: anybody who's ever worked for me. I mean, honest, this
- 1:08Speaker 3: is true. When I was asked to sign a document,
- 1:12Speaker 3: whoever came into the office my office would have to
- 1:16Speaker 3: hold the corner of the document while I was signing.
- 1:19Speaker 2: Could not let it go.
- 1:21Speaker 4: Oh you know how many times I've been put on handlewatch.
- 1:25Speaker 4: When you had a document, your old partner Karen would
- 1:28Speaker 4: call me and say, can you make sure that you
- 1:31Speaker 4: take this to him? Walk it to his car. At
- 1:36Speaker 4: least it'll be in his car.
- 1:38Speaker 3: Yeah, pretty much, Okay, fair enough, let me see what's
- 1:43Speaker 3: going on.
- 1:44Speaker 2: It looks like I have a shiner.
- 1:45Speaker 1: It is.
- 1:45Speaker 3: I don't know if you've lift the social media with
- 1:47Speaker 3: my eyeball. I took a little spill and it's actually
- 1:54Speaker 3: if you really look at my eye. I too embarrassed
- 1:58Speaker 3: to say. I got into it with Lindsay and she
- 2:00Speaker 3: won the fight.
- 2:02Speaker 1: Well, you didn't have to say that.
- 2:05Speaker 2: We would have guessed that anyways.
- 2:08Speaker 1: And uh and viagra don't mix.
- 2:11Speaker 2: Yeah, that's true. Yes.
- 2:14Speaker 3: And the other day it looks like I broke my
- 2:15Speaker 3: toe too. Uh, you know, I aimed. I tried to
- 2:19Speaker 3: kick her and she moved and I ended up kicking
- 2:23Speaker 3: the bathtub.
- 2:24Speaker 1: Bad news. She's quick like a bunny.
- 2:27Speaker 5: Which toe did you? Did you bust? Is it all?
- 2:31Speaker 2: Yo? It's so purple?
- 2:32Speaker 5: It hurts like a mother?
- 2:34Speaker 3: Yeah, it hurts, It hurts. I don't think it's that bad. Uh,
- 2:37Speaker 3: it's it was the big toe on the right foot.
- 2:41Speaker 1: And your ribs, how are your ribs?
- 2:44Speaker 3: Uh?
- 2:44Speaker 2: Sore? Yeah, yeah, sore.
- 2:47Speaker 3: I mean that's you know, I took a little bit
- 2:49Speaker 3: of a hit, There's no question about it.
- 2:51Speaker 2: So I don't know.
- 2:52Speaker 1: Is the picture up on social I saw it this morning.
- 2:56Speaker 3: Okay, go to Uh Louis posted that I think I
- 3:00Speaker 3: think she Lindsay posted it at Bill Handle show and
- 3:04Speaker 3: you can see the shiner. I'm looking at myself through
- 3:08Speaker 3: the camera. It is a pretty good shiner, isn't it.
- 3:11Speaker 4: And I had a military doctor or something, because she
- 3:13Speaker 4: sitched you up pretty good.
- 3:15Speaker 2: Actually she had did.
- 3:16Speaker 3: And I went to uh the hospital and I went
- 3:19Speaker 3: to urgent care and they glued it shut. Yeah.
- 3:23Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, they used super glue and it was pretty good.
- 3:26Speaker 5: Uh.
- 3:26Speaker 3: And it's exactly the same super glue that we buy
- 3:29Speaker 3: in the store. It's under sanitary or sterile, you know,
- 3:33Speaker 3: they make it a little bit. Uh, they're more careful
- 3:37Speaker 3: about it.
- 3:37Speaker 2: But that's well, really I didn't know that that's what
- 3:41Speaker 2: they call it.
- 3:42Speaker 5: Okay, you look like you're stoned right now?
- 3:47Speaker 1: Picture in the picture.
- 3:48Speaker 3: Oh uh yeah, I'm sure I do.
- 3:52Speaker 2: Uh. Okay, In any case, I wasn't so.
- 3:56Speaker 3: Good morning Neil and good morning Amy.
- 4:00Speaker 2: Good morning.
- 4:01Speaker 3: Yeah. That was why I was gone on Friday, because
- 4:03Speaker 3: this happened Thursday night and I was not very It
- 4:05Speaker 3: was not a very pleasant Friday morning. Uh.
- 4:07Speaker 2: Then Cono, good morning day? Oh is it baby Ruth day?
- 4:11Speaker 1: Yeah? Okay, all right, I'm gonna eat one.
- 4:16Speaker 2: Yeah, there you go.
- 4:16Speaker 3: And then there was the Baby Ruth Bar named baby
- 4:21Speaker 3: Ruth baby Bar. Uh yeah, I was named after baby
- 4:25Speaker 3: Ruth who they all knows.
- 4:26Speaker 2: And uh uh.
- 4:28Speaker 3: Ann good morning Anne, Good morning Bill.
- 4:32Speaker 2: Yes, this is wonderful to have me back.
- 4:35Speaker 3: Yes, because I had a great time in the urgent
- 4:39Speaker 3: care facility. I went to Hogue actually just down the street,
- 4:44Speaker 3: which was pretty neat.
- 4:45Speaker 2: I really really was impressed with Hogue. There's a Hogue
- 4:49Speaker 2: just down the street from my house.
- 4:51Speaker 4: Okay, I would have thought, but we have great medical
- 4:54Speaker 4: services here in these United States.
- 4:57Speaker 3: Actually it was terrific. Actually it was horrific. You never
- 5:01Speaker 3: would have thought there was a problem with our medical system. Oh,
- 5:03Speaker 3: before we get into the news, a quick word about
- 5:08Speaker 3: what's happening on Thursday. Thursday night, I'm inviting you to
- 5:13Speaker 3: join me and Linz and we're going to be at
- 5:15Speaker 3: the White House, the Anaheim White House Restaurant, and there's
- 5:19Speaker 3: gonna be a wine dinner hosted by Antinori Winery, very
- 5:23Speaker 3: high end winery, and it's gonna be just the whole
- 5:26Speaker 3: thing is gonna be a wine dinner, course by course,
- 5:29Speaker 3: and it's one hundred and fifty dollars per person, which
- 5:32Speaker 3: for this quality, I mean, this is a high high
- 5:34Speaker 3: end stuff, plus tax and gratuity. You can join us
- 5:39Speaker 3: and you'll see me and I am really going to
- 5:42Speaker 3: drink some very very high end diet coke, far more
- 5:48Speaker 3: selected than I usually do. Yeah, the good stuff, yes,
- 5:51Speaker 3: but everybody else will be drinking the wine. So anyway,
- 5:54Speaker 3: if you'd like to join us, the number is seven
- 5:56Speaker 3: one four seven seven to thirteen eighty one. Or just
- 5:59Speaker 3: go to Anaheim wine House dot com. That's where you
- 6:01Speaker 3: want to go, Anaheim white House dot com. Make reservation.
- 6:04Speaker 3: We'll see you there on Thursday. It's one hundred and
- 6:07Speaker 3: fifty dollars per person. If you want to sit down,
- 6:10Speaker 3: we're going to a special area where we're gonna sit
- 6:13Speaker 3: it's two hundred dollars per person.
- 6:14Speaker 2: If you don't want to sit anywhere near me, So
- 6:17Speaker 2: it's going to be the price.
- 6:19Speaker 1: The price goes up the further you get from you.
- 6:22Speaker 2: That's correct.
- 6:26Speaker 1: I'll tell I'll take the anti handle backage where I'll
- 6:30Speaker 1: be actually at the McDonald's down the street.
- 6:31Speaker 2: Yeah, absolutely, So anyway, I'd like to see you there.
- 6:33Speaker 3: If you've ever eating at Anaheim white House, man, are
- 6:35Speaker 3: you in for a treat, especially when you have a
- 6:38Speaker 3: curated wine dinner body one of the best wineries out there.
- 6:41Speaker 2: It's gonna be a very special night. And that's Thursday night.
- 6:44Speaker 3: If you'd like to join us, start to seven o'clock
- 6:46Speaker 3: and then we're going to be eating for a while.
- 6:49Speaker 3: Anaheim white House dot Com. Okay, I can't think of
- 6:52Speaker 3: anything else going on. Let me see, end of the month?
- 6:55Speaker 3: April got are we already into May?
- 7:00Speaker 1: Didn't it stand?
- 7:01Speaker 2: First of the year? Didn't it?
- 7:03Speaker 1: Just?
- 7:03Speaker 3: I mean, it's just zips by so quickly these days.
- 7:08Speaker 2: Just it just seems like yesterday was April twenty six.
- 7:15Speaker 1: It is.
- 7:15Speaker 4: It is going at an incredibly rapid rate right now,
- 7:19Speaker 4: because I feel like we're going to hit summer in
- 7:21Speaker 4: no time.
- 7:23Speaker 2: We are, and it's going to be interesting weather, to
- 7:25Speaker 2: say the least. All Right, guys, ready to do it.
- 7:27Speaker 3: It's time for handle on the news, Amy Neil and
- 7:30Speaker 3: me lead story. Well, we're talking about that suspected gunman
- 7:36Speaker 3: a whole lot Cole Thomas Allen who rudely interrupted the
- 7:42Speaker 3: White House Correspondence dinner by trying to break in. Well,
- 7:45Speaker 3: if we think trying to break into the ballroom and
- 7:48Speaker 3: he was actually couldn't couldn't get near the perimeter because
- 7:52Speaker 3: well it got near one perimeter, but they stopped him cold.
- 7:57Speaker 3: I mean, they did exactly what they wanted to do,
- 8:00Speaker 3: or they should have done. So Yeah, frankly, I don't
- 8:03Speaker 3: think it's that big a deal because there are crazy
- 8:06Speaker 3: people out there constantly, and the Secret Service is right
- 8:10Speaker 3: on top of it, I mean, with security these days.
- 8:12Speaker 4: Yeah, but the fact that one was actually shot, even
- 8:15Speaker 4: though he had a bulletproof vest on or the off.
- 8:19Speaker 2: Way, one Secret Service guy or one officer was shot.
- 8:21Speaker 3: Yeah, that's a little scared, you know, but keeping but
- 8:23Speaker 3: keep in mind, anybody can buy a gun. Anybody. He
- 8:27Speaker 3: this guy Alan checked into the hotel. People do not
- 8:32Speaker 3: go through magnometters magnometers when going through a hotel, and
- 8:37Speaker 3: your baggage is not searched when you're checking into the hotel,
- 8:41Speaker 3: so it's easy access to get into the lobby. And
- 8:45Speaker 3: he never got near the doors.
- 8:46Speaker 1: But he had to fly with weaponry, which you can
- 8:50Speaker 1: do if you check it.
- 8:51Speaker 5: But oh, he took a train. He bought the guns,
- 8:56Speaker 5: allegedly bought the guns here in California, and then took
- 8:59Speaker 5: a train across country Chicago down to DC.
- 9:05Speaker 3: So I frankly, in Chicago they make sure you have
- 9:09Speaker 3: guns when you end yes to me. To me, the
- 9:12Speaker 3: story is not that huge a deal because it's security
- 9:17Speaker 3: was there. It did exactly what it should have done.
- 9:20Speaker 3: This was the first layer of security. There are plenty
- 9:22Speaker 3: more that we don't even know about. What I find
- 9:26Speaker 3: interesting with this story is all sudden on the internet.
- 9:29Speaker 3: What has exploded is this is an inside job.
- 9:33Speaker 1: This is.
- 9:36Speaker 3: Yes, that it was planned. It was all planned. I
- 9:39Speaker 3: don't know anybody who thinks that way. And also, Lindsey
- 9:44Speaker 3: think absolutely suspicious about all three of the attempts. None
- 9:50Speaker 3: of them are real attempts by real people wanted to
- 9:52Speaker 3: kill the president.
- 9:54Speaker 5: The president got in the air.
- 9:57Speaker 1: Oh my gosh, I missed the dates when only the
- 9:59Speaker 1: far right.
- 10:00Speaker 2: Come on, there's no mark at all.
- 10:05Speaker 1: You know the confugion.
- 10:07Speaker 2: You know what I heard? That's you know, that's a
- 10:08Speaker 2: good that's a good idea.
- 10:09Speaker 3: Let's uh get a picture of his ear, a closer
- 10:12Speaker 3: picture of the ear, and see if there's any kind
- 10:15Speaker 3: there's none?
- 10:16Speaker 2: Are you sure? I am positive? Nothing? All right?
- 10:22Speaker 3: I want to look at that, Okay, I want to
- 10:24Speaker 3: look at that is out there.
- 10:25Speaker 2: Man, I'll tell you.
- 10:26Speaker 4: The biggest confusion Bill was that cash Bateel kept yelling
- 10:31Speaker 4: shots shots, shots, shots, shot shots, and people thought it
- 10:34Speaker 4: was about the gun. But he was just drinking.
- 10:37Speaker 5: Did you hear the part of I was jumping in
- 10:39Speaker 5: on that.
- 10:39Speaker 2: He's like tequila.
- 10:42Speaker 5: Cash Battel was intentionally not targeted.
- 10:46Speaker 2: Apparently right, Yes, he was as a matter of fact.
- 10:48Speaker 3: In the manifesto it said, and not cash Patel as
- 10:53Speaker 3: a target.
- 10:53Speaker 2: You're absolutely right, which is kind of interesting. They felt
- 10:55Speaker 2: sorry for him with that eye and all talking about me.
- 11:00Speaker 3: No, with my eye. Okay, I'm misunderstanding. You see, when
- 11:07Speaker 3: you don't talk about me, it's always about me. I
- 11:10Speaker 3: always conflate everything about me.
- 11:11Speaker 2: That's that bunky I.
- 11:14Speaker 1: Oh.
- 11:14Speaker 2: In general, he's got that late you got that lazy eye.
- 11:17Speaker 4: Do you know what ice I saw online the other
- 11:19Speaker 4: day as someone called him mortgage eye, and I'm like,
- 11:22Speaker 4: what does that mean? And then they then they stated,
- 11:26Speaker 4: because one is fixed and one is variable, that's rough mortgageize.
- 11:32Speaker 2: That's pretty good.
- 11:33Speaker 5: Actually, look who's not talking. Iran says it will end
- 11:37Speaker 5: the choke hold on the Strait of Hormuz. If the
- 11:41Speaker 5: US stops blockading Iran and ends the war. That's Iran's
- 11:47Speaker 5: new proposal to the US. Iran's foreign minister made a
- 11:52Speaker 5: brief return to Islamabad Sunday, as Pakistan's leaders are trying
- 11:57Speaker 5: to revive peace talks between Tehran and Washington, although President
- 12:01Speaker 5: Trump said discussions could instead take place over the phone.
- 12:05Speaker 3: Now, didn't he say that Iran is they've they've called
- 12:10Speaker 3: the White House and they're desperate for some kind of
- 12:13Speaker 3: a deal. Then you say that last week, and then
- 12:16Speaker 3: Iran pointed out they don't even have telephones.
- 12:20Speaker 2: There's we're getting two different stories.
- 12:23Speaker 3: Every time the President says a, Iran says, b Nope,
- 12:28Speaker 3: that's not happening.
- 12:28Speaker 1: And we don't even know the leaders are. It could
- 12:30Speaker 1: have been a prank call.
- 12:32Speaker 3: Could have been and the President says, we don't know who.
- 12:35Speaker 3: We don't even know who we're talking to. Now, those
- 12:38Speaker 3: in the nose say that that leadership is in place.
- 12:41Speaker 3: I mean they prepared for it. The Revolutionary Guard is
- 12:45Speaker 3: right there controlling the country more so than it ever has.
- 12:49Speaker 3: And so you know, we're getting obviously two very different
- 12:52Speaker 3: stories here, and the two sides are very very apart.
- 12:56Speaker 3: And the blockade continues, blockade on both parts straight, oh horror,
- 13:01Speaker 3: moves completely blockaded in by the Iranians, and then the
- 13:07Speaker 3: US is blockading the Iranian ports. Any ship going in
- 13:12Speaker 3: or out of Irania, well they're just not letting it happen.
- 13:14Speaker 3: No ship leaves Iranian ports, those ship goes to an
- 13:16Speaker 3: Iranian port to unload. So it's all at a stall.
- 13:23Speaker 1: All right.
- 13:25Speaker 4: Trump never misses a beat to use any event, any
- 13:29Speaker 4: circumstance to promote what he wants to promote.
- 13:32Speaker 1: And in this case, it's the security that would.
- 13:34Speaker 4: Come with the White House ballroom that has faced a
- 13:38Speaker 4: bunch of illegal challenges, threatened to shut down the project,
- 13:41Speaker 4: of course. And he says that this shooting wouldn't have
- 13:45Speaker 4: happened if he had his military grade ninety thousand square
- 13:49Speaker 4: foot ballroom that he has been trying to build in
- 13:52Speaker 4: the East Wing.
- 13:54Speaker 1: And he says, that's what you need. You know, can't
- 13:56Speaker 1: you go.
- 13:57Speaker 4: To a hotel, you get hotel security you go to
- 14:00Speaker 4: is reinforced. Well, ninety thousand square foot ballroom.
- 14:04Speaker 3: Yeah, that's not fair. I mean, you get a lot
- 14:06Speaker 3: more than hotel security. But he's absolutely right. Is if
- 14:10Speaker 3: there is a ballroom and nobody else is allowed in
- 14:14Speaker 3: no hotel guests. Everybody is vetted. The security is far,
- 14:18Speaker 3: far tighter. He's right about that. Well, sure you could
- 14:23Speaker 3: hold it in a bunker too, you could.
- 14:25Speaker 2: Nobody's right.
- 14:26Speaker 3: I mean it's and he talks about security, but conflating
- 14:29Speaker 3: the whole issue of security, because he's been pushing so
- 14:33Speaker 3: far for national security everything underneath the bunker underneath, which
- 14:38Speaker 3: is a legitimate national security argument, that they need one
- 14:42Speaker 3: underneath the White House, then that is the basis for Therefore,
- 14:47Speaker 3: if we need one under the White House, then we
- 14:50Speaker 3: need a ballroom on top of that bunker.
- 14:53Speaker 4: Oh we got all this room now that we build, yes, bunker, Well, yeah,
- 14:56Speaker 4: put something on top of it.
- 15:00Speaker 5: Wasted time. Apparently that's what the President is saying. All
- 15:04Speaker 5: that travel is between the US and Pakistan. And so
- 15:09Speaker 5: he has called off Witcoff and Kushner, who were planning
- 15:13Speaker 5: to go to Islamabad for more possible peace talks with Iran.
- 15:19Speaker 5: But now he said, nah, let's just stay home for now.
- 15:23Speaker 3: Yeah, and he points out fifteen hour flight, I mean
- 15:26Speaker 3: for nothing, because last time it was for nothing. And
- 15:29Speaker 3: then my question about these flights is it's usually aboard
- 15:32Speaker 3: air Force two certainly when JD Vance goes or other
- 15:37Speaker 3: high ranking airplanes for high ranking people, I think they
- 15:41Speaker 3: have bedrooms. I know Air Force one certainly does, and
- 15:45Speaker 3: I'm guessing that Air Force two does. I'd like to
- 15:48Speaker 3: look that up. That's a good deal. That's better than
- 15:52Speaker 3: first class when you have your own bedroom.
- 15:54Speaker 4: I would imagine they would have to. No, they wouldn't know,
- 15:58Speaker 4: they wouldn't They can share something.
- 16:00Speaker 3: Oh yeah, yeah, they have the super super chairs, Yeah
- 16:03Speaker 3: they do. And for White House, for the White House reporters,
- 16:07Speaker 3: there's a whole section and those are kind of neat
- 16:10Speaker 3: first class seats, but I don't think they have sleepers.
- 16:14Speaker 3: You don't like to figure out the configuration. I'm going
- 16:16Speaker 3: to look that up during the break because that's kind
- 16:19Speaker 3: of neat.
- 16:20Speaker 4: This one's gonna hit you in the wallet pill. They've
- 16:23Speaker 4: got enough signatures to tax the rich. California is so
- 16:28Speaker 4: called billionaire tax has the signatures, of course, because the
- 16:33Speaker 4: poor want to tax the rich. So backers of the
- 16:37Speaker 4: proposed California Billionaire's Tax believe they have gathered enough signatures
- 16:42Speaker 4: to get the initiative on the November ballot. Tax proposed
- 16:45Speaker 4: by Service Employees International United healthcare workers west lot to say,
- 16:52Speaker 4: which represents more than one hundred and twenty thousand healthcare workers.
- 16:55Speaker 4: They want it to offset the cuts to healthcare funded
- 16:59Speaker 4: that President trump spending law last year pulled some money in.
- 17:04Speaker 3: Okay, this is over a billion dollars, so yeah, I'm
- 17:07Speaker 3: right up there, aren't I. So here is the If
- 17:09Speaker 3: I did have a billion dollars, you think I'd wake
- 17:11Speaker 3: up in the morning and do this show.
- 17:13Speaker 2: I wouldn't have my assistance assistant assistant do this show.
- 17:17Speaker 3: You'd pay someone to fall for you. Yeah, for sure.
- 17:21Speaker 3: And here's a deal. It's five percent of net worth.
- 17:26Speaker 5: A one time fee.
- 17:27Speaker 3: Well, yeah, that is my question. A one time fee.
- 17:31Speaker 3: When does the next one hit the ballot? When?
- 17:35Speaker 5: Okay, one time fee?
- 17:37Speaker 2: Yeah yeah. Because if you look at every almost every.
- 17:40Speaker 3: Bill in which taxes are are mandated for anybody that's wealthy,
- 17:46Speaker 3: anything dealing with high end taxes, and they're supposed to sunset,
- 17:52Speaker 3: they never sunset ever ever.
- 17:54Speaker 5: And I did the math on this. There's two hundred
- 17:57Speaker 5: people who are billionaires in California and each one of
- 18:01Speaker 5: them would pay fifty million dollars one time.
- 18:08Speaker 2: So how much is that set?
- 18:09Speaker 5: A billion? I don't know. I didn't finish the math.
- 18:13Speaker 2: Okay, yeah, partial math.
- 18:15Speaker 3: Yeah, So it's a one time feed offset the budget deficit.
- 18:18Speaker 3: Next year there's going to be a So let's say
- 18:20Speaker 3: it takes care of a year or partially takes care
- 18:22Speaker 3: of a year, and we go into deficit the next year.
- 18:25Speaker 3: What do we do, Oh, I don't know. We'll figure
- 18:28Speaker 3: out some other way. And you are right, it's easy
- 18:31Speaker 3: to tax the rich. And the rich don't have that much,
- 18:35Speaker 3: they're not invested with that much political power. They have plenty,
- 18:39Speaker 3: but what do they do defend themselves.
- 18:43Speaker 4: Well, if we have more poor people than we do
- 18:45Speaker 4: rich people, why don't we tax the poor? Well, we
- 18:50Speaker 4: used to tax the middle class. I mean to your point,
- 18:53Speaker 4: it's you know, maybe you're going a little bit too far.
- 18:56Speaker 2: Maybe just say take.
- 18:57Speaker 1: Away their big screen TVs and.
- 18:59Speaker 3: The Yeah, because they're given big screen TVs. So and
- 19:02Speaker 3: by the way, a big screen TV costs forty dollars today.
- 19:05Speaker 3: The point is is that it used to be the
- 19:08Speaker 3: middle class that paid all the taxes, the great middle class,
- 19:13Speaker 3: that was the secret of the American success.
- 19:15Speaker 1: But there is no middle class.
- 19:17Speaker 2: There is no middle class.
- 19:18Speaker 3: So it is now the wealthy pay the vast majority
- 19:22Speaker 3: of the taxes.
- 19:22Speaker 5: And it's ten billion dollars by the way.
- 19:26Speaker 2: Okay, and we're in deficit, what twenty five billion dollars
- 19:29Speaker 2: this year or so, it's forty percent.
- 19:31Speaker 4: Say yet, Elon Musk, just do it. Oh he left California.
- 19:34Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 19:35Speaker 3: That's the other thing is these zillionaires, you know, say
- 19:38Speaker 3: I'm sort of done. I don't live in California anymore.
- 19:42Speaker 3: So you can take the taxes that I have been
- 19:44Speaker 3: paying and shove them.
- 19:45Speaker 5: Right because there are billionaires. They can go have their
- 19:47Speaker 5: primary residence in any place, yeah, porter, Yeah, and have
- 19:51Speaker 5: a vacation home in California.
- 19:53Speaker 3: But California will still fight for it. California, the franchise
- 19:56Speaker 3: tax Board. It's the taxation and the determined who lives
- 20:01Speaker 3: where you. Believe me, it's a huge fight to argue
- 20:05Speaker 3: that you don't owe the money in California.
- 20:07Speaker 5: All right, smile, you're on candid camera. There's been a
- 20:12Speaker 5: rash of burglaries in the San Fernando Valley home invasions,
- 20:16Speaker 5: and in response to that, a mobile surveillance unit has
- 20:21Speaker 5: been installed at the intersection of inter Boulevard and Ethyl Avenue.
- 20:25Speaker 5: It uses artificial intelligence to track potential suspects. The device
- 20:32Speaker 5: monitors the area twenty four hours a day, analyzes video,
- 20:35Speaker 5: distinguishes between animals, people, vehicles, and then any activity the
- 20:40Speaker 5: AI deemed suspicious is sent to a specialized call center
- 20:44Speaker 5: where human operators can dispatch help in real time. Aaron Theiss,
- 20:49Speaker 5: who's an ACS security spokesperson, says, we have provided information
- 20:54Speaker 5: footage license plates to LAPD that have actively assisted in
- 20:57Speaker 5: their investigations and some of those cases to arrests.
- 21:01Speaker 3: Yeah, there's gonna be a lot of controversy in terms
- 21:04Speaker 3: of how far the authorities can dive into your life
- 21:07Speaker 3: and your conversations. And I'm going to be doing some
- 21:11Speaker 3: of that at seven point thirty because I think it's surprising.
- 21:14Speaker 2: I was only the other thing it is surprising.
- 21:16Speaker 3: Do you know that National Security Agency, the NSA, which
- 21:19Speaker 3: is overseas all of the intelligence. I mean, people think
- 21:23Speaker 3: the FBI is big and nothing compared to the NSA.
- 21:27Speaker 3: Do you know any cell phone conversation? Any and all
- 21:30Speaker 3: cell phone conversations are recorded, all of them. You get
- 21:34Speaker 3: on your cell phone, done same thing, I believe, same
- 21:38Speaker 3: thing with texts. Now, then you have algorithms that figure
- 21:41Speaker 3: out I mean, God help you. If you are searching
- 21:44Speaker 3: for pressure cookers and you're looking to buy one, ooh,
- 21:50Speaker 3: that's a tough one. Or you're giving a review of
- 21:54Speaker 3: a movie and you think it's a bomb. That's not
- 21:57Speaker 3: going to be helpy. I say that movie was a bomb.
- 22:00Speaker 3: Oh hello, mister FBI, Yes, sir.
- 22:03Speaker 4: You gotta love the dichotomy though, because you have all
- 22:06Speaker 4: these so called influencers that if you're eating on a
- 22:10Speaker 4: porch at a restaurant, they come up to you and
- 22:13Speaker 4: test the First Amendment to be able to record you
- 22:17Speaker 4: in public, and everybody says that's okay, that's okay. But
- 22:19Speaker 4: the minute the government does it and they say it's public.
- 22:22Speaker 4: If you're in the public, you're in the public exactly.
- 22:25Speaker 4: And we're going to talk more about that at seven thirty.
- 22:27Speaker 1: All right, this is interesting.
- 22:29Speaker 4: Senator Tom Tillis of North Carolina said just yesterday he
- 22:34Speaker 4: would support Kevin Worsh's confirmation as Federal Reserve chair. This
- 22:40Speaker 4: is the last obstacle basically installing President Trump's pick, e is,
- 22:47Speaker 4: even though Jerome Powell was his pick, wasn't he originally Yes?
- 22:51Speaker 4: Now he can't stand the man keep wanting to leave
- 22:55Speaker 4: Powell put his heels in the sand. But this was
- 23:00Speaker 4: the last basic obstacle and so now you can go through.
- 23:04Speaker 3: Yeah, this is one where Tillis wanted, well, I mean
- 23:08Speaker 3: the Republicans and the President wanted Worsh's nomination to go through.
- 23:13Speaker 3: And Tillis is so upset about Jerome Powell and this investigation,
- 23:19Speaker 3: this investigation without any merit at all against Jerome Powell,
- 23:24Speaker 3: because that's what the administration does. If you're a perceived enemy,
- 23:27Speaker 3: you go after him with a passion. And the President
- 23:30Speaker 3: uses Department of Justice and Tillis can stop a vote
- 23:34Speaker 3: from coming forward out of committee because it's his committee,
- 23:38Speaker 3: and he can say no vote. And so they're they're
- 23:41Speaker 3: playing chicken. And finally what happened is the Just Department said, Okay,
- 23:45Speaker 3: we're gonna drop it. We're going to drop the investigation
- 23:48Speaker 3: against Jerome.
- 23:49Speaker 2: Powell because there isn't anything there.
- 23:53Speaker 3: Anyway you're going to see warsh is going to be
- 23:55Speaker 3: the next fed share.
- 24:00Speaker 5: Not much of a price to pay. Remember, there was
- 24:04Speaker 5: that explosion in South LA happened in June of twenty
- 24:07Speaker 5: twenty one. The LAPD bomb squad miscalculated the size of
- 24:13Speaker 5: a planned detonation of seized fireworks, and it wiped out
- 24:17Speaker 5: part of a neighborhood, leveled part of a city block,
- 24:20Speaker 5: destroying dozens of homes, cost the city millions in lawsuit payouts. Well,
- 24:25Speaker 5: were the police officers involved punished, Well, that's been very
- 24:30Speaker 5: closely guarded until recently when an internal affairs investigative file
- 24:35Speaker 5: for the incident's surfaced online. Six bomb squad officers were
- 24:40Speaker 5: on scene that day, and the leaked file shows that
- 24:43Speaker 5: they all escaped escaped serious discipline. The harshest punishment was
- 24:48Speaker 5: suspension of eighteen days without pay.
- 24:52Speaker 3: And they're investigating the committee from Disney that came over
- 24:58Speaker 3: there figure out how they were to do those kinds
- 25:01Speaker 3: of fireworks with so few people. It's a Disney joke
- 25:06Speaker 3: with fireworks every night at nine thirty during the summer
- 25:09Speaker 3: and only on weekends during Okay.
- 25:11Speaker 4: Well, it looks like King Charles the Third and King
- 25:16Speaker 4: President my apologies, President Donald Trump will be meeting after all.
- 25:21Speaker 4: Buckingham Pella said that King Charles will visit the US
- 25:25Speaker 4: this week. They're going to proceed with a planned connection
- 25:29Speaker 4: and sit down, I suppose. Even though the security concerns
- 25:34Speaker 4: were raised by Saturday's shooting there at the Washington dinner.
- 25:38Speaker 4: So they say, we've been fully informed with everything going on,
- 25:44Speaker 4: and we feel secure.
- 25:45Speaker 3: I find this fascinating that the King of England is
- 25:50Speaker 3: celebrating the two hundred and fiftieth anniversary of our revolt
- 25:55Speaker 3: against England. For somehow, that's a great deal for England.
- 25:59Speaker 3: Tell me about that one.
- 26:00Speaker 1: Well, we made up.
- 26:02Speaker 3: We did make up. There's no question about it. Eventually
- 26:05Speaker 3: we did make up. And also, no, I'm not gonna
- 26:10Speaker 3: go there. I'm not going there that.
- 26:13Speaker 1: I can't decipher that one.
- 26:16Speaker 2: Now I know me neither almost Oh yeah, okay, you
- 26:21Speaker 2: I hear where I'm gonna go.
- 26:22Speaker 3: He's gonna, I think, up here before a joint session
- 26:24Speaker 3: of Congress. He's going to address Congress, which very very
- 26:28Speaker 3: rarely happens. Charles Is I think so that's why I
- 26:33Speaker 3: said I don't want to go there, because I'm not sure.
- 26:36Speaker 4: Oh, but you're gonna make some sort of joke. They
- 26:41Speaker 4: were worried about him getting shot in the ear and
- 26:43Speaker 4: bleeding out.
- 26:45Speaker 2: Now are we going to go? This is King Charles
- 26:48Speaker 2: the second? Are we going to go to uh? The third?
- 26:52Speaker 2: President Trump? The first? Okay, moving on.
- 27:00Speaker 5: Almost time for trial. There's been a year long battle,
- 27:04Speaker 5: years long battle between Elon Musk and open Ai. Jury
- 27:11Speaker 5: selection in the lawsuit starts today. Opening arguments in Northern
- 27:15Speaker 5: California are expected tomorrow. In the suit, Elon Musk accuses
- 27:21Speaker 5: Sam Altman, Open AI president Greg Brockman, and others of
- 27:24Speaker 5: misleading him about the company's plans to transition from nonprofit
- 27:30Speaker 5: to a for profit business. And the outcome of this
- 27:32Speaker 5: case could have a significant impact on the AI industry
- 27:36Speaker 5: and if it goes Musk's way, could derail open AI's
- 27:40Speaker 5: future IPO plans.
- 27:42Speaker 3: Now, would you ever think of Elon Musk arguing that
- 27:46Speaker 3: he should not have shares in a company that's for
- 27:50Speaker 3: profit and he is arguing it was a He argues
- 27:53Speaker 3: that his what forty four million dollars was actually a
- 27:57Speaker 3: donation to a nonprofit. That's what the issue of this
- 28:02Speaker 3: case is and it has implications, far reaching implications. As
- 28:07Speaker 3: Amy just said.
- 28:09Speaker 4: All right, could you imagine being out at Stagecoach, which
- 28:12Speaker 4: is the follow up concert after Coachella, the two weekends
- 28:15Speaker 4: of a Coachella, and the big screens we all know
- 28:18Speaker 4: and love that show the concert start flashing emergency evacuation
- 28:23Speaker 4: the festival has been postponed until further notice. Please move
- 28:27Speaker 4: quickly and calmly to the nearest exit. Well, that's what
- 28:31Speaker 4: happened this weekend because of the high winds sixty five
- 28:35Speaker 4: miles per hour at peak, and they had to shut
- 28:39Speaker 4: things down.
- 28:40Speaker 2: Yeah, but the wind calm down a couple hours later.
- 28:44Speaker 1: So what's weird about the debt?
- 28:45Speaker 4: Don't you think this would happen more in that area
- 28:50Speaker 4: with these concerts because it's just so unpredictable when that
- 28:54Speaker 4: win will kick up.
- 28:57Speaker 5: Well, and we've done concerts several of them where it
- 28:59Speaker 5: started raining and they had to stop and cancel it
- 29:02Speaker 5: or or something like that, but not just because of
- 29:04Speaker 5: the high winds. And our editor, Carla's daughter was out
- 29:07Speaker 5: there and said it was a little bit harrowing because
- 29:11Speaker 5: people started getting separated from each other. I mean there's
- 29:13Speaker 5: one hundred thousand people out there.
- 29:14Speaker 4: Yeah, not only that's all running massive scaffolding and equipment
- 29:19Speaker 4: and speaker you know, pillars, and yeah.
- 29:23Speaker 1: It's scary.
- 29:25Speaker 5: NFL is apparently going to Hollywood. So not only do
- 29:29Speaker 5: they kill it in the ratings with football, they're looking
- 29:34Speaker 5: to expand their audience with theatrical motion pictures. And scripted
- 29:39Speaker 5: streaming series. One of the upcoming movies is about John Madden.
- 29:44Speaker 5: Another is a Christmas Day release about an unlikely hero
- 29:47Speaker 5: for the New York Giants. And then there's also The Land,
- 29:51Speaker 5: which is coming to Hulu centered on fictional characters, and
- 29:55Speaker 5: the Cleveland Browns that stars Christopher Maloney, Mandy Moore, and
- 29:59Speaker 5: William H. Macy Love Him Now.
- 30:02Speaker 3: There have been films about NFL players in the past
- 30:07Speaker 3: Teams Yeah, Yeah, New Rockney, and there was one about
- 30:10Speaker 3: Jim Thorpe and a few others. But this is the
- 30:13Speaker 3: first time in the NFL itself is going to be
- 30:16Speaker 3: producing movies, and that is fairly big news.
- 30:19Speaker 2: Because the NFL is, i would say, reasonably popular. More
- 30:24Speaker 2: people watch the Super Bowl.
- 30:25Speaker 3: For example, one hundred and ten hundred and fifteen million
- 30:27Speaker 3: people watch the Super Bowl. And a Disneyland story Amy
- 30:33Speaker 3: correct me if I am wrong, is that it is
- 30:37Speaker 3: told to us. It's a myth. That's the best place
- 30:40Speaker 3: to go to on Super Bowl Sunday is to go
- 30:43Speaker 3: to Disneyland. And the problem is one hundred and ten
- 30:46Speaker 3: million people are watching the Super Bowl, which leaves two
- 30:50Speaker 3: hundred and eighty million people that are not and they're
- 30:53Speaker 3: all going to Disneyland.
- 30:54Speaker 1: Absolutely, Yeah, there's nothing to that myth.
- 30:59Speaker 4: All right, Uh listen, calm down, everybody. There's something new
- 31:03Speaker 4: to be worried about. How about we get some of
- 31:05Speaker 4: that flesh eating New World screw worm out here more
- 31:08Speaker 4: and more closing in on the US. So they found
- 31:12Speaker 4: cases of this flesh eating infection miles from the Texas
- 31:15Speaker 4: border with Mexico. And that's making people freaked out because
- 31:19Speaker 4: we once eradicated this and the New World screw worm
- 31:23Speaker 4: worm flies feed on warm blooded animals and humans to
- 31:28Speaker 4: create painful house smelling wounds. This is uh yeah, they
- 31:33Speaker 4: put their they spread when the female flies lay eggs
- 31:37Speaker 4: and open wounds. They can be very tiny. They also
- 31:40Speaker 4: go in animals nose, eyes, ears, mouth, all that stuff.
- 31:43Speaker 4: But there these It was once eradicated in nineteen sixty six,
- 31:52Speaker 4: and then we had some new ones come up in
- 31:53Speaker 4: the two thousands and we've been fighting them by you know,
- 31:57Speaker 4: we do this with mosquitos too, where they they don't
- 32:00Speaker 4: cast right, but they make it so they can't reproduce.
- 32:05Speaker 2: Hey, I have a question real quick, this technical question. CONO.
- 32:09Speaker 3: I'm hearing some static from Neil. Is that me or
- 32:13Speaker 3: is that actually happening to everybody? Oh, it is, okay, it.
- 32:17Speaker 1: Always getsthetic from me.
- 32:19Speaker 2: That's a craft, but it's we have a technical glitch.
- 32:23Speaker 3: So Neil, why don't you, you know, hang up the
- 32:27Speaker 3: phone and you can call back or you can go
- 32:29Speaker 3: back on the microphone tomorrow.
- 32:31Speaker 1: That's okay, great.
- 32:32Speaker 3: Yeah, all right, let's why don't we finish this one up?
- 32:36Speaker 3: I mean, we are done. So here's the question. Who
- 32:39Speaker 3: is Cole Thomas Allison Allen, the guy who tried to
- 32:45Speaker 3: assassinate we assume President Trump at the correspondence dinner, and
- 32:51Speaker 3: so we'll cover a little.
- 32:52Speaker 2: Bit of that today. In the meantime, this is KFI
- 32:55Speaker 2: A M sixty.
- 32:57Speaker 3: You've been listening to the Bill Handle Show Catch My
- 32:59Speaker 3: Show My Day through Friday six am to nine am,
- 33:02Speaker 3: and anytime on demand on the iHeartRadio app.
