Transcript
- 0:06Speaker 1: All right, here we go. The third hour of the
- 0:07Speaker 1: radio program, affectionately known as Common Sense Amplified. Good morning, friends.
- 0:11Speaker 1: It's the morning show with Preston Scott. I'm Preston. He's Jared.
- 0:14Speaker 1: Running the radio program, we are still hunting and searching
- 0:17Speaker 1: for our next producer. Jared, I think, is lighting candles
- 0:21Speaker 1: every night, hoping for us to secure a producer. I'm
- 0:25Speaker 1: lighting the signals. I'm sending out smoke signals. Everything I
- 0:29Speaker 1: can think of. You're trying every possible thing. Throwing salt
- 0:33Speaker 1: over his shoulder. You name it, he's doing it. Prayer circle. Yeah.
- 0:37Speaker 1: Jerome Hudson once interned with this radio program years ago.
- 0:41Speaker 1: He's now a biggie. He's author of the 50 Things books.
- 0:45Speaker 1: He's the entertainment editor of Breitbart.com. And I don't think
- 0:49Speaker 1: I can talk him into coming back and producing this silliness. But, Jerome,
- 0:53Speaker 1: how are you, friend?
- 0:54Speaker 2: Oh, my brother. My brother. I've got too many jobs.
- 0:58Speaker 2: Wearing too many hats. I know. I've got to get
- 1:00Speaker 2: rid of a hat first.
- 1:01Speaker 1: But a guy can wish, can't he?
- 1:03Speaker 2: No, the prayer circle will definitely help.
- 1:08Speaker 1: It hasn't yet. Hey, I saw the story on They
- 1:14Speaker 1: Figured Out. What a tragic passing, Hayden Penetary. I saw
- 1:21Speaker 1: that it was oxycodone laced with fentanyl.
- 1:26Speaker 2: Yeah. Yeah, one pill apparently. So it's an unnamed source,
- 1:30Speaker 2: but that is believed to be the working theory. It's
- 1:35Speaker 2: a huge story. There were paramedics on the scene, police
- 1:39Speaker 2: on the scene in South Carolina. We're leaking details. There's,
- 1:44Speaker 2: I think, immediate animosity there. pent up and built up
- 1:48Speaker 2: on the scene. You got the boyfriend, the on again,
- 1:50Speaker 2: off again, abusive boyfriend, his brothers, an unknown weird character there. Uh,
- 1:56Speaker 2: and so this, you know, all the facts aren't in yet,
- 2:00Speaker 2: but this, my heart and stomach sort of sank when
- 2:04Speaker 2: I read the headline yesterday. Um, even though it's, you know,
- 2:08Speaker 2: kind of an anonymous source, you kind of figure, um,
- 2:11Speaker 2: this is a bit par for the course at this point. Um,
- 2:15Speaker 2: And it's sad to see, right? The country is, under
- 2:20Speaker 2: President Trump in his second term, made just absolute tremendous
- 2:25Speaker 2: strides in reducing overdose deaths. And you see a headline
- 2:31Speaker 2: like this, and I've done so much media on this, Preston,
- 2:35Speaker 2: and it's just so hard not to go back to
- 2:37Speaker 2: the parallels between Hayden Panettiere's death Matthew Perry. And so
- 2:44Speaker 2: it's sad. And, you know, hopefully, you know, we're not
- 2:48Speaker 2: really talking about something like this again. But, you know,
- 2:51Speaker 2: I watched the Golden Globes and and there are a
- 2:54Speaker 2: lot of those tributes, you know, a lot of those
- 2:56Speaker 2: people who passed away, just so many, so many legends.
- 2:59Speaker 2: That's kind of the way you want your favorite Hollywood stars.
- 3:04Speaker 2: And for a lot of people, particularly my age, millennials,
- 3:08Speaker 2: Hayden was a fan favorite.
- 3:11Speaker 1: I'm curious because I just, I don't know. So I'm
- 3:16Speaker 1: asking the question out of a place of, I just
- 3:18Speaker 1: don't know. Was she prescribed oxycodone for some purpose or
- 3:23Speaker 1: was she one of those that just got addicted to
- 3:26Speaker 1: it and then got a batch that had laced with
- 3:29Speaker 1: fentanyl perhaps? Or was that, I mean, was someone trying
- 3:33Speaker 1: to kill her? I don't know how that works.
- 3:36Speaker 2: Yeah, D, D probably, right? Like all of the above.
- 3:40Speaker 2: And she hurt her back. It was a movie she
- 3:43Speaker 2: was filming in 2012.
- 3:45Speaker 1: Okay.
- 3:46Speaker 2: And it was about horses, and she was riding in
- 3:51Speaker 2: just a freak accident, right?
- 3:52Speaker 1: Okay.
- 3:53Speaker 2: And so that got her on the pain pills, and
- 3:57Speaker 2: she apparently never actually kicked. Just a horrible habit, and...
- 4:03Speaker 2: You know, again, the reports on the scene when the
- 4:07Speaker 2: police showed up is that, you know, you sort of
- 4:09Speaker 2: hear it all the time, not even really in celebrity
- 4:12Speaker 2: cases like this, but just like a bag of pills
- 4:16Speaker 2: was found at the scene. And that's just a telltale
- 4:19Speaker 2: sign that there was a very deep addiction to an assortment, okay,
- 4:26Speaker 2: of drugs. And it only takes that one pill, which
- 4:30Speaker 2: again is just, She'd been in and out of rehab
- 4:35Speaker 2: for years. We're talking about two decades of just struggling
- 4:39Speaker 2: and still keeping her acting career going. In the last
- 4:44Speaker 2: few years, her brother committed suicide a couple years ago.
- 4:49Speaker 2: One of the more heartbreaking aspects of all of this
- 4:51Speaker 2: is just the real public outing of the very toxic
- 4:55Speaker 2: relationship that Hayden had with her mother, Hayden. just released
- 5:00Speaker 2: her memoir in May, and it was just a very
- 5:04Speaker 2: dark foreshadowing of, again, just a very sad passing from her.
- 5:09Speaker 2: But the mother-daughter relationship, Preston, just being completely economically transactional.
- 5:16Speaker 2: And so it's just sad all the way around.
- 5:19Speaker 1: Entertainment editor at Breitbart.com, Jerome Hudson with me. While we're
- 5:24Speaker 1: sort of kind of on the topic of Hollywood, How
- 5:27Speaker 1: big of a deal is the potential exodus of Paramount?
- 5:31Speaker 2: Well, to the tune of $ 21 billion and nearly 60,000 jobs,
- 5:37Speaker 2: this was a leak report by an economic agency, a government,
- 5:42Speaker 2: state-run agency that did a very forensic look at what
- 5:48Speaker 2: the potential damage could be if David Ellison, the chief
- 5:52Speaker 2: of Paramount Skydance, actually acted on his threat promise to
- 5:58Speaker 2: move that historic, one of the big five movie studios
- 6:04Speaker 2: out of California, which would not make Paramount Skydance very unique.
- 6:09Speaker 2: I think we're, what, on the 99th year running that
- 6:11Speaker 2: U-Haul is.
- 6:14Speaker 2: California is their number one business hub. I'm tongue-in-cheek here,
- 6:18Speaker 2: but it's very sad to see. You've got Gavin Newsom,
- 6:26Speaker 2: telling Jake Tapper that, you know, hey, if Kamala runs,
- 6:32Speaker 2: I won't run. It just feels like even the planet-sized
- 6:37Speaker 2: amount of hubris that is wrapped up in Governor Hairgel, like,
- 6:42Speaker 2: he sees it. Nothing looks good. And it looks, with
- 6:46Speaker 2: all the businesses that California has lost, you know, Paramount
- 6:51Speaker 2: leaving would just be– I mean, it's so embarrassing, right? Like,
- 6:55Speaker 2: that's a horrible stain on an already bad record for
- 6:58Speaker 2: Gavin Newsom. The lawsuit is ridiculous. It's completely political because
- 7:03Speaker 2: there was no threat of a lawsuit. was steamrolling their
- 7:07Speaker 2: way to buying Paramount a year ago. And as soon
- 7:11Speaker 2: as the Ellisons entered the fray, it became very political.
- 7:16Speaker 2: You even had Sally Field from the stage of the
- 7:19Speaker 2: Emmys last night taking subtle shots. at the merger. Mergers happen,
- 7:25Speaker 2: and thousands of jobs are lost even without mergers. Look
- 7:29Speaker 2: at Disney. They've laid off nearly 10,000 people over the
- 7:32Speaker 2: last three years. And so any job losses that would
- 7:37Speaker 2: come from, you know, Paramount merging with Warner Brothers, it
- 7:42Speaker 2: just happens in the industry. But this overall would be good,
- 7:46Speaker 2: I think, for the people who live in California and
- 7:49Speaker 2: work there. in the studio hubs here in Florida, in Atlanta, Georgia,
- 7:53Speaker 2: in New Mexico, in Louisiana, and on and on. But no,
- 7:57Speaker 2: Democrats are just fighting this. I mean, Rob Bontek killed
- 8:01Speaker 2: Spirit Airlines, for crying out loud, along with Pocahontas.
- 8:05Speaker 1: Well, I mean, but that's the thing. You mentioned all
- 8:08Speaker 1: of the states, Jerome. We've got about a minute left
- 8:10Speaker 1: in this segment. It's not like it was where it's
- 8:14Speaker 1: New York, California, or bust. I mean, the benefits of
- 8:19Speaker 1: being where everybody is don't exist anymore the way that
- 8:23Speaker 1: technology has been developed and with the way that the
- 8:27Speaker 1: economies of California and New York are running.
- 8:29Speaker 2: Right. And look, Larry Ellison's worth more money than God.
- 8:34Speaker 2: And Warner Brothers is going to be sold or broken
- 8:38Speaker 2: up anyway, right? There's the business of it and there's
- 8:40Speaker 2: the politics of it. And Democrats cannot remove the politics
- 8:44Speaker 2: of it. Warner Brothers is an iconic studio that has
- 8:47Speaker 2: been run like a horrible business. And it's just going
- 8:54Speaker 2: to be good for the blue-collar workers, hundreds of thousands
- 8:57Speaker 2: of them, in cities across the country if this merger
- 9:00Speaker 2: goes through. But, you know, politics, man.
- 9:11Speaker 1: 21 minutes past the hour. Jerome Hudson with me, entertainment editor, Breitbart.com,
- 9:14Speaker 1: author of the 50 Things books. You'll love the books.
- 9:19Speaker 1: The books are great. They're little chapters that just deal
- 9:22Speaker 1: with one thing at a time. And I think you'll
- 9:25Speaker 1: enjoy those. Send the 50 things they don't want you
- 9:28Speaker 1: to know about Trump to a Trump hater near you.
- 9:32Speaker 1: Makes a great Christmas gift. Hey, let's talk about this
- 9:35Speaker 1: Jimmy Kimmel, James Tallarico thing. I mean, Tallarico is a heretic.
- 9:41Speaker 1: He's vile in a lot of ways. What has Jimmy
- 9:46Speaker 1: Kimmel done that has the FCC's attention?
- 9:49Speaker 2: The same thing that Stephen Colbert did in February, which
- 9:54Speaker 2: basically lied to whoever is still interested in watching. those shows.
- 10:01Speaker 2: Stephen Colbert looked into the camera and told the same
- 10:04Speaker 2: lies that Jimmy Kimmel told, that we want it to air.
- 10:08Speaker 2: our James Telerico interview live on the airwaves, but because
- 10:12Speaker 2: of threats from, quote-unquote, threats from the Trump administration, we
- 10:16Speaker 2: had to air the Telerico interview on YouTube. It's complete bunk.
- 10:21Speaker 2: It actually really ticked me off in a way that
- 10:24Speaker 2: few stories actually do, as I'm writing the Jimmy Kimmel
- 10:28Speaker 2: lies in an article. which you can read at Breitbart.com,
- 10:33Speaker 2: I'm just, like, frustrated, right? Because, you know, I mean,
- 10:37Speaker 2: I understand that Jimmy Kimmel for years has helped Democrats
- 10:40Speaker 2: raise money, you know, to elect Democrats. And, you know,
- 10:44Speaker 2: I get it, right? And people may be surprised to
- 10:48Speaker 2: hear that. I don't know. But, you know, Jimmy Kimmel
- 10:50Speaker 2: has hosted a late-night show on ABC since 2003, and
- 10:55Speaker 2: he is also a very committed Democrat. He stumped all
- 10:58Speaker 2: over the country for years for Democrats. I get that.
- 11:02Speaker 2: But there should be a line between his political proclivities
- 11:07Speaker 2: and just telling the most baseless lies that he knows
- 11:11Speaker 2: are lies. Stephen Colbert knew they were lies. And the
- 11:14Speaker 2: lawyers at CBS knew they were liars, which is why
- 11:16Speaker 2: they contradicted Stephen Colbert the next day, saying, no, actually,
- 11:20Speaker 2: there are laws on the books that have been on
- 11:22Speaker 2: the books for decades that if you invite a political candidate...
- 11:29Speaker 2: If it's the primary, that's 60 days, or the general election,
- 11:32Speaker 2: 30 days. If you invite the Democrat, you have to
- 11:35Speaker 2: invite the Republican. And if it's the primary, if you
- 11:38Speaker 2: invite the Democrat on, you have to invite all the
- 11:40Speaker 2: Democrats running in that race on. And so Stephen Colbert
- 11:43Speaker 2: didn't want to invite Jasmine Crockett on, apparently. He only
- 11:47Speaker 2: wanted to do a sit-down with James Tallarico. And James
- 11:50Speaker 2: Tallarico catapulted that stunt into a massive donation campaign. a
- 11:57Speaker 2: whole and so you know seven or so months later
- 12:00Speaker 2: Jimmy Kimmel does the same thing uh... it says that
- 12:03Speaker 2: you know we we couldn't air the tellurico interview on
- 12:05Speaker 2: ABC because of threats from the FCC I mean it's
- 12:08Speaker 2: just all bunk uh... and you know that's the dirty
- 12:12Speaker 2: game that we're playing but maybe I don't know the
- 12:14Speaker 2: market will sort it all out because Stephen Colbert His
- 12:18Speaker 2: last time on TV was last night on the Emmys
- 12:21Speaker 2: because he's been off the air because he cost CBS
- 12:23Speaker 2: $ 40 million a year. You can put on an entertaining
- 12:28Speaker 2: late-night TV show, Greg Gutfeld, with a much smaller budget
- 12:32Speaker 2: and a much smaller team of writers, right, does it
- 12:36Speaker 2: on a much smaller medium of capable news. And so
- 12:40Speaker 2: this is, again, left-wing politics, you know, just being pernicious
- 12:45Speaker 2: and poisonous.
- 12:47Speaker 1: Jerome, is any of this actionable? Is any of the
- 12:50Speaker 1: conduct by Kimmel, the staff at his program actionable to
- 12:55Speaker 1: the extent, or is this classic case of front page headline,
- 12:59Speaker 1: back page retraction, just say an apology later and be
- 13:02Speaker 1: done with it?
- 13:03Speaker 2: No. I mean, the lawyers at ABC are in deep
- 13:08Speaker 2: legal battles with the Trump administration, from Disney allegedly not
- 13:14Speaker 2: hiring white straight males over– ethnic minorities, not promoting white
- 13:22Speaker 2: straight males for the same reason. And so Disney's facing
- 13:26Speaker 2: lawsuits from the Trump administration and investigations on that front,
- 13:31Speaker 2: and a whole host of others, obviously. Yeah, at Stephanopoulos, right?
- 13:37Speaker 2: That settlement a year ago. And so, no, the lawyers
- 13:41Speaker 2: at Disney are taking cues from the new chief executive,
- 13:45Speaker 2: Josh Amaro. And Bob Iger is still in the building.
- 13:48Speaker 2: He's like a chairman emeritus. And Dana Walden, Kamala Harris's
- 13:52Speaker 2: best friend, is still president of TV. Like, Disney is... Like,
- 13:57Speaker 2: almost literally pressed in an arm of the DNC. And
- 14:00Speaker 2: so Jimmy Kimmel can go out and just lie about
- 14:03Speaker 2: laws that are clearly on the books, not very hard
- 14:05Speaker 2: to find on a search engine of your choice. And no,
- 14:09Speaker 2: there is no retraction. There's no apology. I mean, it's
- 14:12Speaker 2: just mob rule over there. And, you know, I don't
- 14:17Speaker 2: know where it goes. I really don't know where this
- 14:19Speaker 2: all goes. Now, Jimmy Kimmel's trying to get more years
- 14:21Speaker 2: on his contract, and he's talking about retirement, I think,
- 14:24Speaker 2: as a negotiation tactic. But Jimmy Kimmel doesn't want to
- 14:27Speaker 2: go anywhere. He wants more years. ABC won't extend his
- 14:31Speaker 2: contract beyond one year at a time. So that's very interesting.
- 14:36Speaker 2: And I think it's interesting because late night is just
- 14:38Speaker 2: losing tens of millions of dollars.
- 14:40Speaker 1: Yeah, no one's interested anymore. Yeah. Interesting to hear the
- 14:45Speaker 1: backstory on all that. Jerome, thanks so much. Appreciate what
- 14:48Speaker 1: you're doing at Breitbart. Appreciate your friendship, and love you, buddy.
- 14:51Speaker 2: Love you.
- 14:53Speaker 1: All right, Jerome Hudson with us from Breitbart.com, entertainment editor,
- 14:57Speaker 1: former intern on The Morning Show with Preston Scott, now
- 15:01Speaker 1: author of the 50 Things books as well, and our guest.
