- 0:00Good morning, good morning, good morning, and welcome, welcome, welcome.
- 0:02It's time now for one on one with the pro and it is Truity
- 0:05Credit Union in the house. So we've got Missari. How you doing,
- 0:09How you doing today? Doing good? How are you all right? Sarah?
- 0:12But what we got going on here? We've got the internship right,
- 0:16Yes, yes, we're really excited to be kicking off our internship program here
- 0:20in the next couple of weeks and just wanted to come on and talk about
- 0:23it a little bit. Well, first of all, interns, they you
- 0:27get a pretty good breadth of knowledge just being an intern anywhere, but especially
- 0:33in a great financial institution that's got a lot of history. And they just
- 0:37happened to turn eighty five about a week or so ago. Yes, at
- 0:40Truity Credit Union. That's a kind of unique and unduplicatable. How does one
- 0:44become an intern at the Truity Credit Union? Yeah, for sure. So
- 0:49there's you know, a couple of different ways that you can apply for an
- 0:53internship, the main one being our careers website. So if you go to
- 0:57careers dot trudycu dot org, there's direct application there for a local internship here
- 1:02in Bartlesville, where you're going to be able to learn everything from you know,
- 1:07how to bank just in general too. You know, we'll teach you
- 1:11different financial things as well as getting some real world corporate experience as well.
- 1:18So, and you got to remember that your corporate culture, folks at Truity,
- 1:23is really a very darn good model and I think maybe other maybe edities
- 1:29should adopt it because I don't see any sour faces when I walk in.
- 1:34I see folks who are very very very capable one and two very very very
- 1:40content with their their job and the people they work with. And it's all
- 1:45because their team, and it's all about working as a team. Yes,
- 1:49we have such a great culture of teamwork at Trudy, and it really comes
- 1:53down for us to everyone who works at Trudy has the same desire in the
- 1:59same one really to serve our members' interests, which goes right in line with
- 2:05what our mission is to serve our members. So it's really just kind of
- 2:09crazy to think about how every single person who works there has that same goal
- 2:15in mind. So what are your ages for your interns are you looking at?
- 2:17Yes, so we actually will accept interns in high school and college.
- 2:22So if you go to a local college or high school, you're eligible for
- 2:25the internship, So it kind of opens it up pretty broadly. Well,
- 2:30Sarah, But if I got to tell you, that's a beautiful building that
- 2:32you have downtown and the new one, as I let some people call it,
- 2:38the new one down on Washington, is really an eye catcher and a
- 2:43piece of art. But you also see a little bit of history when you
- 2:46walk in the doors, and it's supposed to be because this is a part
- 2:50of our town's history after all, you know, Truity got started right here
- 2:54in Bartlesville with a few ladies of all things. Yes, and we wouldn't
- 3:00and seeing lady interns, yeah, lots of lady interns. Absolutely. We
- 3:02want anyone and everyone who's interested. Sure, so far, we've been very
- 3:07blessed. We've had, you know, a ton of interest in our internships.
- 3:09So it is kind of a competitive market to get into the internship.
- 3:14So we've been we've been very blessed to have lots of or lots of interest
- 3:19in the internship and continue to see that as well. Now, what will
- 3:22the interns be exposed to? Will they be exposed to a little bit of
- 3:24everything or just maybe a handful of things or give us a little look.
- 3:30See. Yeah, so the interns will be exposed to a little bit of
- 3:34everything. So they'll each have their own department that they'll be assigned to work
- 3:38with, so that could be it. It could be our contact center,
- 3:42our lending departments, marketing, business development. So they'll have their own specific
- 3:46home, if you will. But they do tend to kind of work together,
- 3:51and they have a project that they work on throughout the nine week program,
- 3:55so they kind of get to work together as well to get a little
- 3:59insight to all of it. This is great. You've had interns for quite
- 4:02a while, but it seems like it's kind of a popular thing. Yes,
- 4:08So no pushing, no crowding kids. Okay, apply online, wait
- 4:13your turn. But still, you know, the thing is is that with
- 4:17some companies they go, oh, it's the intern Well that's not the way
- 4:20it is at at Truity. You're kind of excited to see people wanting to
- 4:26learn. That. Yes, absolutely, we're excited to see people who want
- 4:29to learn, and we're excited to teach them as well. Especially you know,
- 4:32since we open it up to high school and college students that really,
- 4:35you know, broad instat as well. So you know, they may not
- 4:39have ever interviewed with a company before, so we get to be their first
- 4:43interview. We get to be their first offer that they've ever had before,
- 4:46so we get to walk them through a lot of those first and provide them
- 4:50with that, you know, real experience. They're getting to do those things
- 4:54just like any other higher wood, So they're getting some real world experience even
- 4:59before before they even start. You know. That's that's one thing that they
- 5:03had internships back in the nineteen hundreds, just not as many, right,
- 5:10and my goodness sakes, there are so many people I know that who are
- 5:14older would say, my goodness sakes, that that would have paid off big
- 5:16dividends. But now they have children, now they have grandchildren, and they
- 5:20can direct them into these programs such as the one that Truity is offering with
- 5:26internships, because it really does give you a taste of what is going on,
- 5:30what is real, and it's not just your textbook and your chalkboard or
- 5:33your wipe or race board or whatever they use these days to educate kids back
- 5:39meaning stone tablets. But you know, it's a long time ago, but
- 5:43it's really it's a day at the office. As they say, absolutely,
- 5:46they're going to have real world tasks that they're going to be assigned to do.
- 5:49So it's going to be just like having a job, and they're going
- 5:53to have to show up on time. And you know, we'll do performance
- 5:57reviews with them throughout the program as well, so that they're going to get
- 6:00real life feedback as well on how they're doing. So they're going to get
- 6:03it all. They're going to get a true taste of a corporate job.
- 6:09This is good. This is really good. Even though some kids might dread
- 6:13a review or something like that, just remember you're going to get that every
- 6:16two weeks. It's called a paycheck exactly, but it's it is something else.
- 6:24It is really nice that you take an interest in the young folks and
- 6:26bringing them on board and giving them a real inside look at how one of
- 6:31our financial institutions right here in Barbleville operates. Now, you are a credit
- 6:38union, which means you operate differently than what a traditional bank would operate.
- 6:43Imagine they get a little insight into them. Yeah. Absolutely. One of
- 6:46the first thing, or one of the first things that we teach any new
- 6:49hire is what the difference between a credit union and the bank is so question
- 6:54one. Yeah, they're going to get after what's your name? Yes,
- 6:57they're going to get to know all of those things. And you know,
- 7:00and as we've been recruiting for these we try to tell people that upfront as
- 7:02well, that you know, there is a difference, and the main difference
- 7:05is the service. So we really have that desire to serve our members and
- 7:11we really you can see that when you go in and you see the smiling
- 7:14faces and the people who are knowledgeable, and we hope our interns are going
- 7:17to be like that as well. One thing that's really cool is that you
- 7:21can get a question answered and it doesn't matter really who you ask. They
- 7:27if they don't have the answer, they'll point you to someone who does.
- 7:30Whether you go in and you talk to someone, one of the teller is
- 7:32if you go to one of the folks, they help center there physically,
- 7:36or you can actually call in or even chat. Yeah, I can compare.
- 7:42Absolutely, you can come into a branch, you can chat someone on
- 7:46our digital banking or on our website. You can call into our contact center.
- 7:50So there's tons of different ways that you're able to connect with someone to
- 7:54get some answers for whatever problems you have, and don't remember, there are
- 7:58no really silly questions because if you don't know the answer, chances are you're
- 8:03going to get the answer that you know comes up. You're not going to
- 8:05be judged. No, no, no, that's not the way that it
- 8:09works here. So they can kind of they can really put you in touch
- 8:13with where you need to go, whether it's a website, whether it's a
- 8:16human being, and whether it's anything or maybe just something that you on your
- 8:20own can do. Yeah. Absolutely, there's tons of different ways to get
- 8:22answers. And I'm one of those people. If I have a question,
- 8:26I'm going to ask it if it's silly or not. And you know,
- 8:30people are just very eager to answer those questions as well. There you go,
- 8:33and of course with your interns, they'll be asking a lot of questions.
- 8:37Absolutely. Absolutely, now really amazing facilities that we have here locally.
- 8:43But I understand that we've been growing a little bit. Yes, absolutely,
- 8:48we have been growing. So we've opened a couple of new branches up in
- 8:52our Lawrence market and the Laitha in the last couple of months, so we're
- 8:56growing there. And really we're just trying to grow all over the place,
- 8:58So no one thing you got to remember even though you do your your banking
- 9:03physically, your your credit union work your locally. If you're a student and
- 9:09you if you've got if you've got a Trudy debit card, it'll work anywhere,
- 9:15right, Yes, it'll work anywhere. And your Apple work everything,
- 9:18and the Apple workout doesn't know zip code. No. The app is a
- 9:20wonderful tool as well if you have any you know, problems or need to
- 9:24check in a balance. If we have tons of different tools where you can
- 9:28check your credit score and you can do all of these different things on the
- 9:33app. So it's a really great tool to use as well. You know
- 9:37what that electronic uh GisMo has done to help relationships. Remember when people used
- 9:45to write things down on the check register. Yeah, and one of the
- 9:48parties on set account might not always remember to write down something physically on that
- 9:54register. Well that that app does it for you. Yeah, does it
- 10:00for you? It does it all for It saves a lot of kitchen table
- 10:03talk that could get elevated. Yeah. Absolutely, I would know nothing about
- 10:07that. Yeah, but it solves a lot more problems than just knowing what's
- 10:13in your count Yes, that's all I'm got. I just said that for
- 10:16a frand okay, all right, all right, right there we go.
- 10:18But once again, it is a truey Credit Union eighty five years old.
- 10:22Did you guys, you know, have a little party or something like you're
- 10:24just another day at work. Yeah, we we haven't done a super big
- 10:28celebration. We recently we had a groundbreaking up in Lawrence for a new branch
- 10:33that we're getting ready to start constructing. So that was a pretty big deal
- 10:37for us. But as far as like a true celebration, I think every
- 10:39day is a celebration of how long we've been around. So I love her
- 10:45attitude. I love her attitude. It's infectious and that's kind of what you're
- 10:50gonna get when you would do business with Truity Credit Union, or if you
- 10:54said your child into become a a in turn, Yeah, the hard drive
- 11:03had a little skip going on there, But this is really what it's all
- 11:07about. Truitycu dot org is the website truitycu dot org. You can find
- 11:11out anything you find out about the internships. You can also find out about
- 11:18different tools that you can use and also other different services that Truity offers a
- 11:24myriad of different things. Be quite honest with you, I'm kind of technology
- 11:31challenged, Yeah, a little bit. You get that way when you're sixty
- 11:35something. But your website is very easy to navigate. Yes, yes,
- 11:41it is very easy to use, very user friendly, and it has tons
- 11:43of tools on it. So if you're looking for, you know, a
- 11:48job, or even looking to you know, just bank with us and set
- 11:50up an account with us. You can do all of that from our website.
- 11:54So it'll direct you to all the different places and has tons of different
- 11:58tools and and all of those things so that you have all of those tools
- 12:03easily accessible so that you're able to do whatever you're kind of looking to do.
- 12:07And even if you have a question about how something works, you've got
- 12:11nice little explainers that go along with that too, and you have a search
- 12:16engine on there as well. So if you're really not good at navigating,
- 12:18you just kind of asked that bunch of button, it pops right up.
- 12:22That is so cool. Yes, that is so cool. And once again,
- 12:26with the internships, how do we go about getting the applications in again?
- 12:30Yep, So if you're going to apply for the internship, all you
- 12:31have to do is go to careers dot trudycu dot org. Under the Bartlesville
- 12:37section, there's a local internship posting. All you have to do is click
- 12:41on it and it'll take you directly to the application. Very good, Very
- 12:45good. I like this. I like this. You know, by the
- 12:48way, I ran into a good friend of Truity former CEO don't Oh yeah,
- 12:54just last weekend we were eating cheese and sandwiches together. That's awesome.
- 13:00But what I was getting getting at is that every time there's an event here
- 13:05in Bartlesville or anywhere regentally, whether it's for you know, a nonprofit or
- 13:13just civicavat or maybe even just watching your kids play ball, you can't escape
- 13:20the company of one of your friends. From True to Decredit Union, you
- 13:22folks are everywhere. Yes, we are all over the place. That's one
- 13:26really great thing about you know, the fact that we were founded here in
- 13:28Bartlesville. You know, we are here, we live and we work here
- 13:33just like everybody else. So we're at the community events. We sponsor a
- 13:35lot of community events, and that's something our interns are going to get to
- 13:39experience as well. They'll get to have a community service day where they'll all
- 13:43go out together and give back to the community as well. That's great.
- 13:48They're going to learn how important that really is and that is like it's a
- 13:52very big part of your corporate culture. Absolutely being everywhere and just helping out
- 14:00and everything. Once again, Truity Credit Union and that's Truity CEU dot org
- 14:05is their website and you can get there for details and if you have a
- 14:09question, you know what. The website even has a phone if you don't
- 14:13feel too good about being on the computer. Absolutely, and a human will
- 14:16answer yes, yes, So do you have people who will answer the calls?
- 14:22Oh? Man, that is really something else. I want to thank
- 14:24you very much, sarahth for coming in here. You never come in often
- 14:28enough. I mean you've been here like what three times in the last three
- 14:31months. But you know, if we can spring at you know, we'll
