  SPEAKER_00: Um Joe.
• 0:04
  SPEAKER_00: Joe Joseph.
• 0:07
  SPEAKER_00: Um oh my Christ.
• 0:09
SPEAKER_00: Joseph, are you with us?
• 0:11
  SPEAKER_00: It's a new recording.
• 0:12
  SPEAKER_02: Oh sorry, sorry.
• 0:13
  SPEAKER_02: Hey.
• 0:14
  SPEAKER_02: Oh hey.
• 0:14
SPEAKER_02: Oh, I forgot we were doing this.
• 0:16
  SPEAKER_02: Sorry.
• 0:23
  unknown: Yeah.
• 0:24
SPEAKER_00: This is a new episode of the Unresolved Dependencies Podcast, Joe.
• 0:29
  SPEAKER_02: Okay.
• 0:30
SPEAKER_02: Yeah, we're still doing this podcast.
• 0:31
  SPEAKER_02: Okay.
• 0:32
SPEAKER_00: Yes, we're still doing that.
• 0:33
  SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
• 0:33
  SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
• 0:34
  SPEAKER_00: Okay.
• 0:34
  SPEAKER_00: That's good.
• 0:34
  SPEAKER_00: Okay.
• 0:35
  SPEAKER_00: We've not been canceled.
• 0:36
SPEAKER_02: We've not been cancelled yet, or we've not been forced to sort of you know abandon the idea.
• 0:40
SPEAKER_02: We're actually on episode nine, would you believe?
• 0:42
SPEAKER_00: That's pretty at the moment when we're recording this episode, we're not yet cancelled.
• 0:47
  SPEAKER_00: This is true.
• 0:49
  SPEAKER_00: This is so true.
• 0:50
SPEAKER_02: I'm sure I'm sure we can figure I'm sure we can rectify that.
• 0:53
SPEAKER_00: You can figure it out here, sure.
• 0:56
SPEAKER_02: So how have you been, Sebastian?
• 0:57
SPEAKER_02: I've not seen you for a bit.
• 0:59
SPEAKER_00: Well, this was mostly on you because um one of us two did her offline retreat and was not available for two weeks basically, and was finding his inner Joe while I was um working and how how how dare I do that?
• 1:20
SPEAKER_02: How dare I do that?
• 1:21
SPEAKER_02: You take a week and a half off to do that.
• 1:23
SPEAKER_02: I mean, it's so why yeah, why?
• 1:25
  SPEAKER_00: Why?
• 1:25
SPEAKER_00: Why did you do that?
• 1:26
SPEAKER_00: I felt empty with audio.
• 1:29
SPEAKER_02: Okay, well, I'm glad I'm glad at least one person missed me then, so that's always good.
• 1:32
  SPEAKER_00: Yeah, definitely.
• 1:34
SPEAKER_00: Yeah, but like maybe before we before we start into our regular features, how was it?
• 1:41
SPEAKER_00: Wanna tell us the like who's the new Joe?
• 1:45
SPEAKER_00: Who is that I'm having a podcast with, and how is this affecting our relationship here?
• 1:52
  SPEAKER_02: It's the same Joe, I think.
• 1:54
  SPEAKER_02: I think I'm still the same.
• 1:55
SPEAKER_02: Although I did learn on the retreat that yeah, we're constantly sort of changing.
• 1:58
SPEAKER_02: So we'll get into some of the details there, but it was it was it was good, but honestly, like physically and mentally, one of the most challenging things I've ever done in my life, for sure.
• 2:10
SPEAKER_00: So how what exactly was there, or how how was this done, or like what did you have to do?
• 2:21
SPEAKER_00: I mean, there was you told me there's like no no internet, which is not too bad in in recent times, but also you didn't have access to your phone and stuff like that, right?
• 2:31
SPEAKER_00: So what were the rules you played after?
• 2:35
SPEAKER_02: There were quite a few rules.
• 2:36
SPEAKER_02: There were precepts as they called it.
• 2:38
SPEAKER_02: So you weren't allowed to um to kill anything on there, you weren't allowed to talk to anyone during the week, uh, you weren't allowed to you weren't allowed to steal from people.
• 2:48
SPEAKER_02: They had these seven different precepts.
• 2:50
SPEAKER_02: It's all kind of aligned to the the the the sort of the technique, which I'll I'll go on and sort of talk about uh in a short while.
• 2:57
SPEAKER_02: But yeah, literally just uh 10 days uh with people on your own, not speaking, um, and trying to learn this uh ancient meditation technique.
• 3:07
SPEAKER_02: Uh so it was, as I say, very surreal, very strange to be out without devices for 10 days, but actually quite refreshing in a way because it proved that okay, yeah, as humans, we can actually live without these smartphones.
• 3:20
SPEAKER_02: These smartphones are not required every second of the day in order for us to survive as humans.
• 3:25
SPEAKER_02: So that's quite sort of reassuring.
• 3:27
SPEAKER_00: Sorry, Syan, riddled me that.
• 3:29
SPEAKER_00: Um how did you answer your work emails during that week?
• 3:34
  SPEAKER_02: I did not.
• 3:35
SPEAKER_02: There's this really great thing, it's called an out-of-office, Sebastian.
• 3:37
SPEAKER_02: You may not have heard it before.
• 3:39
SPEAKER_00: How did you burn your GitHub copilot and cloud tokens during this week?
• 3:43
  SPEAKER_02: I I I didn't.
• 3:44
  SPEAKER_02: I I committed the cardinal sin.
• 3:46
SPEAKER_02: I just let those credits just sit there, let them go to waste.
• 3:50
SPEAKER_02: Um, so no developer is able to use them.
• 3:52
SPEAKER_02: Um, you know, I didn't consume you know um copious amounts of water data center power consumption for that particular week.
• 3:58
  SPEAKER_02: So yeah, I'm a terrible human.
• 3:59
  SPEAKER_02: What can I say?
• 4:00
SPEAKER_00: What what a waste of human capacity.
• 4:03
SPEAKER_02: What what a waste, what a waste of potential vibe coding.
• 4:06
SPEAKER_02: You know, no now no one is going to get their cat themed web application that generates uh medium images every 10 seconds.
• 4:16
SPEAKER_02: You know, what what a loss for humanity that is.
• 4:18
SPEAKER_02: What a loss for humanity that is.
• 4:20
SPEAKER_00: Well like the the 10th purple themed web page for your local businesses next to you.
• 4:28
  SPEAKER_00: Exactly.
• 4:28
  SPEAKER_00: Exactly.
• 4:29
SPEAKER_00: This is like the this is like the number one spot I I get to receive that.
• 4:32
SPEAKER_00: I actually do have a fun fact for that.
• 4:34
SPEAKER_00: So why it's purple, like or why AI themes are like very often purple.
• 4:39
  SPEAKER_00: It's because I'm interested.
• 4:41
SPEAKER_00: Do you want to know it?
• 4:42
  SPEAKER_02: I want to know.
• 4:43
SPEAKER_02: I think everyone wants to know now, yeah.
• 4:45
SPEAKER_00: Um, it's because that the um the color scheme of uh code in, for example, Visual Studio Code, so the text color scheme um in the dark mode is very often from that palette which has a lot of purple in it.
• 5:06
SPEAKER_00: And this is just like how a lot of LLMs are trained, so that is just naturally a very recurrent color in their training data, and that's why a lot of AI designs are blue, purple, and there's always a dark frame of that because all of the training data relies on that.
• 5:31
SPEAKER_02: See, I thought you were gonna say it's because there's a bias in the data set towards Prince's uh dis uh back catalog of albums.
• 5:38
SPEAKER_02: Um that's also quite that's also but that also that's also quite interesting there as well.
• 5:43
SPEAKER_00: It's much more easier, it's just very random that like every like most of the data they're trained on is just like within that.
• 5:49
  SPEAKER_00: Yep, that's what that.
• 5:51
SPEAKER_00: But maybe let's um because you have your offline retreat, you are the same same guy, but like of course, with like more values now.
• 5:59
SPEAKER_00: Um maybe, maybe you you didn't add her uh transfer to your not so stressful first class business life.
• 6:10
SPEAKER_02: No, no, it's all fine.
• 6:11
SPEAKER_02: I'm I'm still back with my obsession over pointless features that we have in this podcast.
• 6:15
SPEAKER_02: Speaking of which, of course, we have got Joe's travels.
• 6:18
SPEAKER_02: Um, I I will continue this feature.
• 6:19
SPEAKER_02: We will get somebody emailing in one of these days, I'm sure.
• 6:22
SPEAKER_02: Uh, but yes, uh, if you were interested with listening last time, the clue uh the answer to the previous clue was Hereford.
• 6:29
SPEAKER_02: That is where the retreat was, just a little bit sort of kind of further south of Hereford in the UK.
• 6:34
SPEAKER_02: Um, so well done if you did uh come up with that answer.
• 6:37
SPEAKER_02: Um uh not well done if you did uh for not emailing in.
• 6:41
SPEAKER_02: Uh if you did want to email us uh with an answer, uh you can do so anytime or indeed any topic.
• 6:45
  SPEAKER_02: Uh hello at unresolveddependencies.com.
• 6:48
SPEAKER_02: We'd be happy to hear from you.
• 6:49
SPEAKER_02: And I have a new clue for you for this week.
• 6:51
SPEAKER_02: I'm actually travelling again next week.
• 6:53
SPEAKER_02: So uh traveling next week.
• 6:55
SPEAKER_02: Of course I'm traveling, of course.
• 6:57
  SPEAKER_02: It's it's it's obvious, yeah.
• 6:58
SPEAKER_02: So the clue is I'm going to a place that's named after a very famous Wolverine, uh, and which has a fish pond that was completed in the year 1800.
• 7:10
SPEAKER_02: Where am I going next week?
• 7:11
  SPEAKER_02: Let us know.
• 7:13
SPEAKER_00: The place is named after Wolverine, the guy from the Marvel.
• 7:16
  SPEAKER_02: A famous Wolverine.
• 7:18
  SPEAKER_02: A famous Wolverine.
• 7:19
  SPEAKER_00: There are multiple.
• 7:21
SPEAKER_02: But it's like if you subscribe to the multiverse theory, then yes, you are correct.
• 7:25
SPEAKER_02: But I'm I've said too much, but potentially.
• 7:27
SPEAKER_02: So, yeah, do let us know the answer.
• 7:28
  SPEAKER_02: Hello at Unresolved Dependencies.com.
• 7:30
SPEAKER_02: We would love to hear from you.
• 7:32
SPEAKER_02: Um, but really nobody cares about this feature, everyone cares about what you're eating.
• 7:37
SPEAKER_02: So we need to know, Sebastian.
• 7:39
SPEAKER_02: Tell me what have you need to know while I've been not skinning things and not eating meat.
• 7:43
SPEAKER_02: What have you been eating to make up for that?
• 7:46
SPEAKER_00: How how obsessed were you during your offline retreat for this feature?
• 7:53
SPEAKER_00: And to know, like, what could he have eaten right now while I'm sitting in offline retreat?
• 8:00
SPEAKER_02: Well, mentally, it was a weird thing.
• 8:02
SPEAKER_02: I had really good meals there.
• 8:03
SPEAKER_02: I'll go into talk about it in a few moments, but mentally, I think I was at the stage where okay, if you've given me just like some dry crackers, then I would be like, Oh, yeah, this is amazing.
• 8:13
SPEAKER_02: This is the best, best food I've ever had in my life.
• 8:15
SPEAKER_02: So everything was kind of elevated a little bit and stuff like that.
• 8:18
SPEAKER_02: But there was no meat there because obviously, oh, there was no meat.
• 8:21
SPEAKER_00: I I had I had some some uh some chicken to be honest, to be fair.
• 8:27
SPEAKER_00: Again, I know, but this time yeah, I like I like my chicken, yes.
• 8:32
SPEAKER_00: Um, but this time it was more special because it was not cooked by me, it was cooked by um Microsoft actually.
• 8:40
  SPEAKER_00: Oh, interesting.
• 8:41
SPEAKER_00: Oh, well, I I visited Microsoft Germany in Munich um last week, and there, of course, I also had lunch in their canteen.
• 8:49
SPEAKER_00: And um during the World Cup, they have different World Cup meals um on each day.
• 8:56
SPEAKER_00: So each day has a different basically country, which is a nice idea because there are like five billion countries at this um World Cup, and um you can get just a lot of different meals than all of that.
• 9:09
SPEAKER_00: And on the day I went there, there was Turkish, um, so Turkish dish.
• 9:14
SPEAKER_00: So it was um a mixture of salad and um vegetables and sorry, so vegetables on the side, and uh chicken with is still with their with the skin and stuff like that, but uh very very tasty, and some couscous rice and stuff like that.
• 9:34
SPEAKER_00: So very very tasty, very, very nice.
• 9:36
SPEAKER_00: I cannot point out all the ingredients, um, but it was very, very delicious and was great.
• 9:42
SPEAKER_00: And uh yeah, so Microsoft uh canteen always has a lot of good options, um, as as well in Germany, surprisingly.
• 9:51
SPEAKER_00: So I usually I I do get the favor to sometimes eat at the um Redman campus in their canteen, and it's so good options and food, but also the mini canteen is quite nice, and with their um fresh food there and great fantastic salad bar there, salad bar, amazing.
• 10:13
SPEAKER_02: I I'm really curious and maybe a little bit scared on what they do for the ink for England to celebrate the England team.
• 10:19
SPEAKER_02: Is it just like what baked beans, happy face?
• 10:21
SPEAKER_02: I think there's just baked beans, baked beans, yeah.
• 10:24
  SPEAKER_00: Yeah, I think so.
• 10:25
SPEAKER_00: Once I was in the canteen in in Bangalore in India, and it's pretty much a hassle to me to figure out like what can I eat because everything is super super hot, and it's spicy as fuck.
• 10:41
SPEAKER_00: And I'm like, okay, what can I eat?
• 10:42
SPEAKER_00: I I would like to have some chicken if possible, and then like people like ah you need to try this, maybe maybe this fits, um, and mostly it doesn't know, but um, it's also very good.
• 10:55
SPEAKER_00: There are a lot of vegetables, very, very healthy.
• 10:57
SPEAKER_00: Um, so usually Microsoft canteens are very good in in terms of the quality and the variance of of different food.
• 11:06
SPEAKER_00: So I have hope for Microsoft offices in Great Britain, but I wouldn't hold it.
• 11:11
  SPEAKER_00: Never never been there.
• 11:12
SPEAKER_02: So it will be something it'll be something non for not from these islands, basically, and stuff like that.
• 11:18
SPEAKER_02: So um, yeah, basically we we yeah, our our gift, our gift, our gift to the world is that yeah, we basically just uh stole everyone else's cuisine and made it our own, basically.
• 11:26
SPEAKER_02: So that that that is uh that makes sense, yeah.
• 11:29
SPEAKER_00: I think uh anyways, I think English cuisine is just breakfast, and then everything after that it is indish.
• 11:37
  SPEAKER_00: Exactly, exactly.
• 11:38
SPEAKER_02: But no, chicken's good, uh, chicken's a good choice.
• 11:40
SPEAKER_02: Um, always down for some chicken.
• 11:43
SPEAKER_02: Um matter whether it's a chickenando's, whether it's maybe some fried chicken and stuff like that.
• 11:48
SPEAKER_02: So, yeah, I think that's a good solid choice.
• 11:50
SPEAKER_02: Um, I would definitely go for that myself.
• 11:53
SPEAKER_00: Yeah, do you know what's also a good choice for um the future and development?
• 11:58
  SPEAKER_02: What would that be?
• 12:00
  SPEAKER_00: Code apps.
• 12:01
  SPEAKER_02: Code apps?
• 12:02
SPEAKER_02: Oh yes, I've been talking about code apps with you today, haven't I?
• 12:06
SPEAKER_00: Yeah, you showed me what did you show me?
• 12:08
SPEAKER_00: Like your can does code app run doom?
• 12:11
SPEAKER_00: And then I was like Exactly.
• 12:13
  SPEAKER_02: I'm gonna do a LinkedIn post.
• 12:14
SPEAKER_02: I think this might also be a session that I submit as well.
• 12:17
SPEAKER_02: But you know how that that whole sort of thing, okay, everyone the aim of any sort of technology, so you get like you know, a smart calculator, you get like one of those pregnancy tests, it's always about okay, okay, that's great, but can it run Doom?
• 12:28
SPEAKER_02: You know, so the greatest test for any technology, any tool is okay, can it run Doom?
• 12:33
SPEAKER_02: And I can confirm I need to just deploy it out properly, make sure it sort of works uh in a model driven app and stuff like that.
• 12:39
SPEAKER_02: But with code apps, you can potentially um do a sort of um uh have have a sort of um uh working application there, um, which place doom.
• 12:50
SPEAKER_02: Just bring your Doom What file, bring it into there, uh, and you're then able to then sort of then play Doom in PowerPlatform.
• 12:56
SPEAKER_02: And that's got to be the the ultimate sort of proof that this is an excellent platform, the fact that you can play Doom in it.
• 13:03
SPEAKER_00: Can we hook this up?
• 13:05
  SPEAKER_00: So just a theory.
• 13:08
SPEAKER_00: Now if if someone's doing this out there, I I want to have the the revenue part of the revenue.
• 13:14
SPEAKER_00: So I we have a code app that applies Doom, and the sprites of the enemies are then the pictures of your colleagues from graph, for example, from Teams.
• 13:30
SPEAKER_02: See, this is what I this is what I want to explore next in terms of okay.
• 13:33
SPEAKER_02: So the process for creating the code app is okay, you can bring any React, any TypeScript app into the sort of the equation.
• 13:38
SPEAKER_02: Uh you run a few pack CLI commands, it basically then preps it from there, uh, and then you can then sort of usually locally from Visual Studio Code, you can then sort of debug it from there.
• 13:47
SPEAKER_02: What I want to do after I get it into a model-driven app is I want to then see, okay, what can I then do uh that then relates to either the app itself or Dataverse.
• 13:55
SPEAKER_02: So what things I want to potentially try is okay, can I maybe, for example, have a whole table in there that basically has all of my Doom what files.
• 14:03
SPEAKER_02: So anytime I want to play like Doom 2, if I want to play like a Doom mod, whether it's like a Seinfeld mod for Doom, if I want to play that, I just go and create a record, it will then load, bring it in, and do that sort of stuff.
• 14:13
SPEAKER_02: So this is the interoperability aspect for me, I think is gonna be interesting.
• 14:16
SPEAKER_00: So still I want to see I want to see a little sprite sprites of of Joseph Joseph hats from from our team's chat, and then just shoot on them.
• 14:30
SPEAKER_00: I want to have that.
• 14:31
SPEAKER_02: Does that give you comfort?
• 14:32
SPEAKER_02: Does that make you make it so that you can approach conversations with me thinking okay?
• 14:36
  SPEAKER_02: I'm I've released the podcast.
• 14:39
SPEAKER_00: This is another another feature then just to you don't meet in in teams, you meet virtually in teams, but the virtual room, which is basically metaverse, which is not back.
• 14:53
SPEAKER_00: Will we Doom in the in the code app?
• 14:55
SPEAKER_00: So you're sitting there in Doom in like a pixel view with all of the characters, and then if there's a voting or something, you you play like a multiplayer version of Doom, and then whoever wins the round decides on how we're going going further.
• 15:13
SPEAKER_02: I think you've clearly got a lot of unresolved anger issues directed towards specific colleagues in the sort of business.
• 15:18
SPEAKER_00: No, no, no, not specific colleagues.
• 15:21
  SPEAKER_02: A colleague, a colleague, a colleague.
• 15:25
  SPEAKER_02: Okay.
• 15:26
SPEAKER_02: Well, you know, you know that the retreat that I went on might have helped with those anger issues.
• 15:30
SPEAKER_00: Maybe, but um, then, anyways, I would need to um travel to Great Britain, which is not my favourite, I guess.
• 15:41
SPEAKER_00: Yeah, never been to England, to be honest.
• 15:44
  SPEAKER_00: You've never been okay.
• 15:45
SPEAKER_02: You gotta correct that at some point.
• 15:47
SPEAKER_00: No, I've been to Scotland.
• 15:50
SPEAKER_02: Oh, we'll get you tour Trafford one day for uh whenever if maybe if maybe yeah, that would be really nice.
• 15:57
SPEAKER_02: Go see a proper go see go see the best football team in Manchester play.
• 16:01
SPEAKER_02: So apologies if you're a city fan, but yeah, I'm declaring my interest there.
• 16:06
SPEAKER_02: But yeah, anger management, yeah.
• 16:08
SPEAKER_02: That's what I kind of not so much anger management, but sort of just trying to sort of um be calmer.
• 16:14
SPEAKER_02: That's what the retreat was kind of all about.
• 16:16
SPEAKER_02: So do you want to hear more about it?
• 16:18
  SPEAKER_00: Yeah, of course.
• 16:20
SPEAKER_00: I think it was very interesting because people may or as well then want to see or want to hear how you feel with it, how you can transfer this in into your stressful life, of course, which is picked and and selected out of first-class tickets, launches, random massages, I think.
• 16:44
SPEAKER_02: Okay, yeah, the last one I've not been so lucky on, but maybe maybe one day.
• 16:47
SPEAKER_02: But yeah, let me tell you a bit more about it.
• 16:49
SPEAKER_02: So, first of all, shout out to Nigel Hughes, uh, who gave me the recommendation for this.
• 16:53
SPEAKER_02: Um, so very much appreciate sort of doing that.
• 16:55
SPEAKER_02: It's kind of a a bit of a we were sort of getting onto some um some topics, um, and he sort of said, Okay, well, maybe you should try this, uh, go to this sort of uh 10-day retreat where you can learn this uh Vipassana meditation technique.
• 17:10
SPEAKER_02: Okay, so it's kind of rooted in sort of Buddhist sort of teachings and stuff like that, but it's not a Buddhist retreat.
• 17:18
SPEAKER_02: It's not, it's kind of the the guy who did it, Goenka, um, sort of um extrapolated sort of the the useful parts for of it.
• 17:25
SPEAKER_02: It's still kind of rooted in a lot of the the um the theory and the the theology aspect of it, but it's kind of non-denominational.
• 17:31
SPEAKER_02: So you can do do it without, you know, if you're Christian, if you're if you're Muslim, whatever, you can sort of do it without having to convert or anything like that.
• 17:38
SPEAKER_02: But it's basically like an old technique, thousands of years old, and it's all around trying to sort of um yeah manage your what's called your kind of cravings and kind of aversions.
• 17:46
SPEAKER_02: So you kind of spend 10 intensive days learning this sort of technique, putting it into sort of practice.
• 17:53
SPEAKER_02: And the idea is that yeah, by the end of it, you can sort of then take this in your daily life, uh, do the technique on uh twice daily for an hour, uh, which is what I've been doing, and it will kind of help you with any sort of just to get a bit more karma, to be able to sort of ruminate over things a lot better, uh deal with some psycho psychosomatic uh issues if you're dealing with them and things like that.
• 18:12
SPEAKER_02: Um, you know, all of that sort of good stuff.
• 18:14
SPEAKER_02: But yeah, it was a very intensive 10 days.
• 18:17
SPEAKER_02: Do you want me to tell you about how each day was structured?
• 18:20
SPEAKER_02: Do you want to scare you a bit?
• 18:21
SPEAKER_00: May maybe some some highlights for sure.
• 18:23
SPEAKER_00: I would be definitely interested into that.
• 18:26
SPEAKER_02: Okay, so my first question is what what do you usually do at 4 a.m.
• 18:28
  SPEAKER_02: in the morning?
• 18:30
  SPEAKER_00: At 4 a.m.
• 18:31
SPEAKER_00: in the morning, well, usually I get up, look at my phone, and then see it's 4 a.m.
• 18:39
  SPEAKER_00: in the morning.
• 18:40
  SPEAKER_00: I'm like, fucking sake.
• 18:41
SPEAKER_00: Another three hours of sleep.
• 18:44
  SPEAKER_02: Yeah, not the retreat.
• 18:45
  SPEAKER_02: That's that's the wake-up time.
• 18:46
  SPEAKER_02: The bells ring at 4 a.m.
• 18:48
SPEAKER_02: every morning, bang, bong, bong, bong, wake up.
• 18:51
SPEAKER_00: So what if I if I just say I I can't say anything, right?
• 18:56
SPEAKER_00: So I can just silently rebel against it.
• 18:59
SPEAKER_02: I can just you can you you you it it would not you'd be frowned upon if you start swearing and screaming, yes, of course.
• 19:05
SPEAKER_02: But yeah, you you have to sort of deal with it.
• 19:06
  SPEAKER_02: So bells ring at 4 a.m.
• 19:08
SPEAKER_02: You then go and into your you're you're you're given a cell uh where you can go and do your meditation in.
• 19:15
SPEAKER_02: So you basically from 4 30 to 6 30, two hours of uh meditation sitting there practicing what the teacher sort of taught you, uh, and that will take you all the way through to breakfast.
• 19:25
SPEAKER_02: Breakfast is between sort of 6 30 and um 7 um 15.
• 19:31
SPEAKER_02: You then have a bit of a break before you then go into one of three one-hour daily um sittings of great determination where you're all sat in a hall together, uh, where you try and sit still and meditate for an hour without moving, without um doing anything and all that sort of good stuff.
• 19:49
SPEAKER_02: You have to sit there for an hour.
• 19:52
  SPEAKER_00: Silently, not moving.
• 19:54
SPEAKER_02: Silently, not moving, everyone else the same.
• 19:57
SPEAKER_02: Uh you have to sit in the position.
• 19:58
  SPEAKER_02: It's quite tough.
• 19:59
SPEAKER_02: And this is what I mean about being physically quite tough because yeah, having to sit in that position for so long, I think I've done something to my back again uh as a consequence of doing it.
• 20:06
SPEAKER_02: You have to sit on the floor.
• 20:08
SPEAKER_00: How much does it does your butt hurt basically after like sitting so much?
• 20:11
SPEAKER_00: I mean, so you're in favor because you have a boring office shop like every one of us, but but still, this could be this is like super inconvenient.
• 20:21
SPEAKER_00: Yeah, yeah, and so I've got three times a day as well.
• 20:25
SPEAKER_00: Uh three times a day.
• 20:27
  SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
• 20:27
SPEAKER_00: When do you go to bed when you need to get up at 4 a.m.?
• 20:31
SPEAKER_00: And can't you just sleep during the first meditation?
• 20:35
SPEAKER_02: So during the day, you do you alternates between meditation in the hall, you get some guidance from the teachers there.
• 20:40
SPEAKER_02: Uh, the teachers there are all volunteers.
• 20:43
SPEAKER_02: Everyone who organizes the course in terms of teachers, in terms of the people supporting the course, cooking the meals, they basically do this in their free time without any payment whatsoever.
• 20:52
  SPEAKER_02: It's really quite amazing.
• 20:53
SPEAKER_02: I mean, we talk about us doing good things in terms of community contributions, but these guys are sort of taking things to an entirely different level.
• 21:00
SPEAKER_02: They're all just there doing this for free because they want to help people, they want to teach this technique.
• 21:05
SPEAKER_02: It's really sort of amazing.
• 21:06
SPEAKER_02: So you spend most of the day doing all the meditations, some breaks in between, uh, some guidance for the teachers.
• 21:12
SPEAKER_02: You have a discourse every evening from the the teacher Goenka, uh uh, which sort of goes into some of the practicalities behind the technique and all that sort of good stuff.
• 21:20
SPEAKER_02: And then usually you'll be finished for the day around about sort of nine o'clock and lights out at 10 p.m.
• 21:26
SPEAKER_02: So doing that every day for 10 days.
• 21:30
SPEAKER_02: That is your basically your sort of schedule.
• 21:33
SPEAKER_02: Um, so it's it's quite surreal because you you by the end of it, I came home and I was like, I'm waiting for a bell to ring to tell me what to do.
• 21:42
SPEAKER_02: It's like it's like you become so conditioned.
• 21:44
  SPEAKER_02: Back to a toddler.
• 21:46
SPEAKER_02: Back to a toddler, yeah.
• 21:47
SPEAKER_02: But there's some substance, but that sort of having that as a as a as a like a okay, this is my day.
• 21:52
SPEAKER_02: This is this is what I know I'm doing today.
• 21:54
SPEAKER_02: I've got time to do focus on this, I've got time to sort of do this.
• 21:57
SPEAKER_02: It's quite a there's people who go and do this for 10 days, there's people Go and do this for 20 days.
• 22:01
SPEAKER_02: There's 90-day retreats people go and do this sort of for.
• 22:04
SPEAKER_02: Uh, and again, it's all about sort of learning the technique, it's all kind of free based on donations that you can give after the sort of course, and it's all focused on okay, the philosophy is okay, this technique has some use and purpose, it can really help people in terms of be able to manage their sort of cravings and aversions, which is one of the main sort of things.
• 22:22
SPEAKER_02: So it's our duty to kind of share it, encourage as many people as possible to sort of learn about it and then spread, you know, spread the sort of love.
• 22:30
SPEAKER_02: And that I like that ethos to it, that sort of mindset.
• 22:33
SPEAKER_02: Okay, we're doing this for the love of it, we we're sort of giving up our free time, we're sort of um, you know, we're we're we just want to help people.
• 22:40
SPEAKER_02: And the people that I met on the course generally were some really, really quite fantastic, lovely, amazing people.
• 22:45
SPEAKER_02: So you're no part of a cult, am I right?
• 22:50
SPEAKER_02: Yeah, I mean, is it is it as bad as the MVP community?
• 22:53
SPEAKER_02: Could you could you call the MVP community?
• 22:55
SPEAKER_02: Can you Microsoft community a cult?
• 22:56
  SPEAKER_00: Or yeah, yeah, yeah.
• 22:58
  SPEAKER_00: I have yeah, okay.
• 22:59
SPEAKER_00: They're uh the humble and honored cult of for Microsoft, definitely.
• 23:03
  SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
• 23:04
SPEAKER_02: I think we all naturally as humans we gravitate towards those kind of things, but I think you know, for this particular, there's no kind of obligation after you've done the retreat.
• 23:13
SPEAKER_02: When you go to the retreat, you have to commit to stay for 10 days.
• 23:16
  SPEAKER_02: You know, that's kind of non-negotiable.
• 23:17
SPEAKER_02: So you do have to kind of approach it with a bit of an open mind and just have to sort of go with it.
• 23:21
SPEAKER_02: Uh, you know, as I say, I'm not gonna lie, very tough physically, very tough sort of mentally.
• 23:25
SPEAKER_02: Um, I I was I use it as an opportunity to kind of just process some sort of um some stuff I was sort of going through.
• 23:31
SPEAKER_02: I did break down a few times.
• 23:33
SPEAKER_02: I'll I'm happy to sort of admit that, but you know, you are getting to a sort of point where you are you are on your own, nobody people are there, there's nobody to speak to, and all you've got is kind of you and your own sort of thoughts.
• 23:44
SPEAKER_02: So it does give you an opportunity to kind of reflect on some things, it gives you an opportunity to kind of process some sort of stuff.
• 23:50
SPEAKER_02: Um, and you know, the end result, I think, for me is that yeah, looking back on certain things, I've got a much positive more positive outlook as a consequence.
• 23:57
  SPEAKER_02: So I think that's really good.
• 23:59
SPEAKER_00: But do you do you then feel more refreshed, I would say, after retreat, like mentally refreshed?
• 24:09
SPEAKER_02: Mentally refreshed, yes, physically no, because it's literally you know, people say, Oh, oh, 10-day retreat offline, or sounds great, you know, it's gonna be a fantastic holiday.
• 24:18
SPEAKER_02: It is not a holiday.
• 24:19
SPEAKER_02: You are you are there for 10 days to learn this technique, you're working on yourself.
• 24:25
SPEAKER_02: Uh, you're working on yourself, you know, potentially in quite a difficult, quite a challenging sort of way.
• 24:30
SPEAKER_02: Um, and if you're not prepared to kind of um, as we say, you know, open the hurt locker and take a bit old, uh take a nice old look into it, then yeah, you're gonna find yourself not getting the most out of it, I would say.
• 24:41
SPEAKER_00: Um I can see you.
• 24:43
SPEAKER_00: Yeah, I think definitely it's not not sort of vacation or um something you can just do on the site.
• 24:52
SPEAKER_00: Um but but definitely could be something where you like you have research in mind, and I think, especially with a lot of announcements, um, and the speed of announcements as well in our world, and there is so much things that are changing with with agents, with AI, with whatever there is.
• 25:11
SPEAKER_00: Um, that is definitely something um that's quite um helpful to to deal with a lot of stuff.
• 25:19
SPEAKER_00: Not only we live in a world of constant sort of change.
• 25:24
SPEAKER_02: That's one of the things the course sort of talks about because when you're doing the meditation, you're observing the changing state of your body, you're observing the sensations, you're observing the thing that everything has an impermanence to it.
• 25:35
  SPEAKER_02: So everything's always changing.
• 25:36
SPEAKER_02: We'll the body's always changing, you know, AI stuff is always sort of changing.
• 25:40
SPEAKER_02: So, you know, by kind of accepting that you can sort of be, okay, things are changing.
• 25:46
SPEAKER_02: It's fine, it's all part of you know, this life, this cycle, all this sort of stuff.
• 25:51
SPEAKER_02: I can just roll with it, I can deal with it.
• 25:53
SPEAKER_02: I can deal with it in a very calm and a very measured way.
• 25:56
SPEAKER_02: I'm not gonna get myself stressed out about things that are gonna that um I've not got control over.
• 26:01
SPEAKER_02: I'm not going to be overly precious about craving things or being averse to things.
• 26:06
SPEAKER_02: I'm just gonna do my own thing and just be happy, you know.
• 26:09
SPEAKER_02: So that's probably the key takeaway for me.
• 26:12
SPEAKER_00: Yeah, I think that's a nice um Oscam and a nice uh resume then for you.
• 26:19
  SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
• 26:19
  SPEAKER_02: Exactly.
• 26:20
SPEAKER_02: But I won't I I need to be careful because I sound like I've just come, like you say, come back from the cool, I've drunk the Kool Aid whenever I'm speaking about this all sort of stuff.
• 26:27
SPEAKER_02: So if anyone is genuinely interested, then uh yeah, please do come find me, uh come say hello, or just email us on the on the address.
• 26:35
SPEAKER_02: Happy to share some more details about about the retreats.
• 26:38
SPEAKER_02: And uh yeah, if it is something you are interested, but I certainly got a lot out of it, and uh yeah, um uh I I said before I wouldn't do it again, but I'm actually considering yeah, maybe I would do it again.
• 26:49
SPEAKER_00: All right, yeah, thank thank you for sharing all of these insights.
• 26:53
SPEAKER_00: Um because also it's very, very personal and um not very easy, I can assume.
• 27:01
SPEAKER_00: Alright, um there is there is one more quick elephant in the room we need to address.
• 27:08
SPEAKER_00: There we already had it very, very quickly during the um during the food um feature.
• 27:16
SPEAKER_00: Um there is this world cup thing going on, and on this day today, it's today, right?
• 27:25
SPEAKER_00: Yeah, but there's something happened.
• 27:27
SPEAKER_02: Something happened the other day with Germany.
• 27:29
SPEAKER_02: I can't quite remember what it was.
• 27:31
SPEAKER_00: Maybe you could yeah, they were there, they they got first place in their group, and um per se.
• 27:36
  SPEAKER_00: Yeah, what happened?
• 27:37
SPEAKER_02: I'm more interested in what happened after that.
• 27:42
  SPEAKER_00: I can't remember.
• 27:43
  SPEAKER_00: That was embarrassing.
• 27:44
  SPEAKER_02: That was embarrassing.
• 27:45
SPEAKER_00: It has to be I'm in shame about the country, the people, football nation itself.
• 27:55
SPEAKER_00: It's just yes, it's it's um just if you hear some background noises, I have the dogs with me, so and they're decided to even they're even they're disappointed, that's why they're giving their ass.
• 28:05
SPEAKER_00: Yeah, even that disappoints me.
• 28:06
SPEAKER_00: Even they they are disappointed, even though like one of them is not even German.
• 28:11
SPEAKER_00: Um yeah, so I have someone with a with a good or sorted background, I would say, on um their own football career, which was um never meant to take off professionally.
• 28:27
SPEAKER_00: I have a lot of strong opinions about that performance at the World Cup.
• 28:32
SPEAKER_00: And um, I don't want to say that I have seen it coming, but I have seen it coming that this will be something that will happen sooner than later.
• 28:43
SPEAKER_00: I mean, anyways, next round playing France in the um um after Paraguay would be impossible.
• 28:55
  SPEAKER_00: I I guess so.
• 28:56
SPEAKER_00: That would be that would be like more embarrassing, I would say, if you if you do a Brazil versus Germany as Germany versus France.
• 29:07
SPEAKER_00: So that is definitely something um yeah, Germany versus France.
• 29:10
  SPEAKER_02: There's there's a bit of history there.
• 29:11
SPEAKER_00: There's a lot of history in that, so I I definitely don't want to to uh be in the center of that.
• 29:18
SPEAKER_00: So I take the Paraguay um loss with that.
• 29:21
SPEAKER_00: Still super embarrassing, and um definitely something which I don't want to dig deeper into that.
• 29:29
SPEAKER_02: But even the Dutch are out as well.
• 29:31
SPEAKER_02: The Dutch got beaten by Morocco.
• 29:32
SPEAKER_00: Dutch are right, England will go out tonight against Congo.
• 29:36
  SPEAKER_00: Yeah, this is it.
• 29:37
  SPEAKER_00: I shouldn't gloat.
• 29:38
SPEAKER_02: I shouldn't gloat too much because it is going to be the typical the typical England experience, it's gonna get to full time nil-nil, and we'll lose on penalties.
• 29:46
SPEAKER_02: You know, this is the we've been we've been trained for years on this being the the the England experience, and it is going to sort of happen.
• 29:54
SPEAKER_00: So I I think like I I've I've not confirmed this this is a if this is a true statistic, but inner like knockout game, I do think Germany has so in penalties, they have missed four penalties, and three of them they missed against Paraguay in their history of Germany.
• 30:18
SPEAKER_00: They missed like four penalties in a penalty shootout in a knockout stage, and three of them at the state.
• 30:26
SPEAKER_02: Well, there is a big focus at the moment with the England team around the penalty shootout.
• 30:31
SPEAKER_02: It's kind of um inherited the I think uh Southgate was the one who brought it in originally, but even now with um with Thomas Tuschall as head coach, they're still focusing very heavily on the street.
• 30:41
  SPEAKER_02: Who do you know?
• 30:42
SPEAKER_00: Who do you call him?
• 30:42
  SPEAKER_02: Tuschall?
• 30:44
  SPEAKER_02: I don't know.
• 30:44
  SPEAKER_02: It's he's German.
• 30:45
SPEAKER_02: Actually, so so actually, you know, if if it tool, I don't know, these these weird German names, but actually, you know, you can support England for that reason, Sebastian.
• 30:53
SPEAKER_02: You know, if if if we win, it's a German victory.
• 30:57
SPEAKER_00: You know, it's still England, so wins it for England.
• 31:03
SPEAKER_00: I'm not sure about that.
• 31:04
SPEAKER_00: I I do have uh um one of my team members, he's from Brazil, so I have a good reason to support Brazil now.
• 31:11
SPEAKER_00: So this is this is going on.
• 31:15
SPEAKER_02: But let's see what happens.
• 31:16
SPEAKER_01: But I am fully anticipating penalty shootouts, and it's gonna be disappointed.
• 31:21
SPEAKER_01: Uh this is this is I might as well just accept it.
• 31:24
SPEAKER_01: If I'm if I accept it now, I'm not gonna be disappointed later.
• 31:27
SPEAKER_00: So are you already playing with the disappointment?
• 31:30
SPEAKER_00: You're already getting in the mood of like, okay, this is not going to happen.
• 31:34
SPEAKER_02: This is this is the default experience for every England fan.
• 31:37
SPEAKER_02: Just expect disappointments, you know.
• 31:39
SPEAKER_02: If you expect all this disappointment in your life when it comes to football, things will just be so much more easier because we've seen it time and time and again, you know, the penalty shootouts, the the the sort of the hope, okay, yeah, it's coming home.
• 31:50
SPEAKER_02: No, it's not coming home.
• 31:51
SPEAKER_02: No, so it's coming home.
• 31:55
  SPEAKER_00: It's never coming home.
• 31:57
  SPEAKER_00: Point us.
• 31:59
  SPEAKER_00: I have to do a confession.
• 32:00
SPEAKER_00: I I turned off TV in the 60 minutes against Paraguay because I was like, nah, honestly, I prefer some sleep over that whatever this kind of sports is, it would have nothing to do with football.
• 32:14
  SPEAKER_02: So that's a very that's a very German response to it.
• 32:17
SPEAKER_00: I have to say, yeah, it was just like no, I'm fed up with this.
• 32:21
SPEAKER_00: Don't show me this again.
• 32:23
SPEAKER_00: My girlfriend stayed, she she was watching and sleeping during the whole match.
• 32:27
  SPEAKER_00: So she's gonna be.
• 32:29
SPEAKER_02: She got so bored she fell asleep.
• 32:31
SPEAKER_00: Well, anyways, anyway, she she um starts sleeping at like after 9 pm on the couch.
• 32:37
  SPEAKER_00: So nevertheless.
• 32:39
SPEAKER_02: This is but this is actually the first game where it's actually at a half decent time.
• 32:42
SPEAKER_02: So it's gonna be it's starting in 20 minutes, it's gonna be 5 pm UK time.
• 32:46
SPEAKER_00: Or is it already like 10 minutes?
• 32:48
SPEAKER_00: Is that an early one?
• 32:49
SPEAKER_02: Yeah, it's a really nice early one.
• 32:51
SPEAKER_02: So um, so hopefully we'll be able to be able to see it, and yeah, expecting disappointments, and that is, and therefore I'll be happy if it happens.
• 33:00
SPEAKER_00: The interesting thing for all the listeners is that like once this episode is released, this like is so obsolete this topic because like the the game has happened, we will be much more um knowledgeable about who's proceeding to the next round, and everything is already done.
• 33:20
  SPEAKER_00: Exactly.
• 33:21
  SPEAKER_00: So let's see.
• 33:22
SPEAKER_02: We can we let's see.
• 33:23
SPEAKER_02: Who knows with this stuff?
• 33:24
SPEAKER_02: It's just it's very difficult to predict.
• 33:26
  SPEAKER_00: Yeah, absolutely.
• 33:29
SPEAKER_00: And with that, I would sign.
• 33:31
  SPEAKER_00: Let's close it off.
• 33:34
  SPEAKER_01: Great.
• 33:35
SPEAKER_00: So I will be anything to share?
• 33:38
SPEAKER_00: You're just going back to mediation.
• 33:40
SPEAKER_02: I'll go, I'll go back to meditation.
• 33:41
SPEAKER_00: I'll just send good vibes to the England mission team.
• 33:45
  SPEAKER_02: Yeah, I'll send that.
• 33:46
SPEAKER_02: I'll do a nice little meta meta sort of meditation, send good good vibes and feelings to Harry Kae, to Marcus Rashford, you know, all those all those all those things.
• 33:55
SPEAKER_00: Just hoping that that German coach will will grant you success.
• 34:00
SPEAKER_02: Yeah, please let the Germans save us.
• 34:02
SPEAKER_02: Please let the Germans redeem themselves by allowing us to win the World Cup.
• 34:08
  SPEAKER_00: Interesting choice, anyways.
• 34:10
SPEAKER_00: Um with that, um, yeah, like, comment, and subscribe.
• 34:20
SPEAKER_00: Um, everything what we talked about is inside the um the notes, the show notes.
• 34:28
SPEAKER_00: Um, yeah, um, would be super happy if you um could share this with your colleagues, with your friends, whoever you want to listen to to a half an hour of madness.
• 34:37
SPEAKER_00: Um, or if you do want to do your offline retreat by yourself, reach out to Joey about more personal and uh detailed insights um about this.
• 34:47
SPEAKER_00: Maybe I will do that just to get lost and find myself again during this time.
• 34:53
SPEAKER_00: So this would be super interesting.
• 34:55
SPEAKER_00: But till then, um, every two weeks on a Monday, unresolved dependencies till we solve this dependency eventually at some point.
• 35:05
  SPEAKER_02: We're getting there.
• 35:06
SPEAKER_02: By episode 100, we'll definitely be there for sure.
• 35:08
  SPEAKER_00: I'm still surprised.
• 35:09
SPEAKER_00: We are like, I mean, there's like one more episode, and we are two digits, so it's 10 the next episode.
• 35:15
SPEAKER_00: So it's gonna keep pushing.
• 35:17
SPEAKER_00: There's like eight more episodes than I expected, and I'm doing this joke much more, much too often every time.
• 35:23
SPEAKER_00: All right, well with that.
• 35:25
SPEAKER_00: See you in two weeks.
• 35:26
SPEAKER_00: See you Monday in two weeks.
• 35:27
  SPEAKER_00: Have a good time.
• 35:28
SPEAKER_00: Take care of all take care, bye bye.
