- 0:00We got some crafts out this time. I did
- 0:02a new thing where I've got all these
- 0:04guys. Uh I made sure that we have mic
- 0:07stands for everybody. So you can have
- 0:08your hands free. It looks kind of crazy.
- 0:11Yeah. So basic basically uh previously I
- 0:13was making people hold the mic and then
- 0:14they only had one hand free for crafts,
- 0:16right?
- 0:18For disaster. Get your get your grubby
- 0:21little mitts in there. I'm going to move
- 0:22the hot glue gun out of the way. Yeah.
- 0:25Grab some certified thing. And then uh
- 0:29Joe also brought craft, but he brought
- 0:31pretty much the same exact felt. You got
- 0:34felt? Yeah. Yo. All right. We got to
- 0:37bust We got to bust out the felt. Okay.
- 0:39I want Yes. So, I do think that like
- 0:42whenever somebody brings a unique thing,
- 0:43it's like that's that's going to be the
- 0:45theme. Yeah. I'm down to make like a
- 0:47felt guy. Yeah. Felt guy would be cool.
- 0:50Felt. And then whenever whenever we need
- 0:53there's this guy we can plug him in. Oh,
- 0:55yeah. I'm going to take Do you use that
- 0:57as a kid? I used to like to put the hot
- 1:00glue on my hands. Oh, yeah. Then you
- 1:01peel it off. I do that rubber cement.
- 1:04Yeah. Rubber cement. You know rubber
- 1:06cement.
- 1:08No, it's like gray. I It's like uh tan.
- 1:12Tan. You guys know rubber cement? Yes.
- 1:16It's like a yellowish. In Georgia, it
- 1:19was so hot. You would take the lid or
- 1:20maybe just because it was so chemically,
- 1:22but you would take the lid off. I
- 1:23remember you would see those like waggy
- 1:26lines coming out of it and I just
- 1:28watched that for a while. Green stink
- 1:30lines. You want some felt? I'm okay for
- 1:32now. Thanks. I'll let you know when I
- 1:34need some felt. I would love some felt.
- 1:36Please go ahead and take it. I'll let
- 1:38you know. Okay. Oh, you got Okay. I
- 1:41won't have felt forced upon me. I like
- 1:43that this is um clearly already like
- 1:45some of it's already like there's chunks
- 1:47out of it that's been used. Yeah, it's
- 1:49it's pre pre-used. Pre-loved. pre-love
- 1:52so you can have the negative space
- 1:54behind some cat ears. So if you need it,
- 2:01my guest this week are some comedians
- 2:02that I know.
- 2:06As you can tell, when the recession
- 2:07comes, this is going to be all of our
- 2:09main livelihoods.
- 2:14Need to get the reps in. So three three
- 2:16of you have been on the Yeah, it's like
- 2:18Yeah, it's like hot ones. You're gonna
- 2:20be doing crafts and I'm going to be
- 2:21going. So, what do you do? A lot of
- 2:23crazy research on you.
- 2:29Joe, I was talking to your middle school
- 2:30friend. Yeah. You brought felt because
- 2:32he had a pretty traumatizing experience.
- 2:38I um Yeah. No. Uh three of you have been
- 2:41on before with the solo eps, but now we
- 2:43got some group. Uh you're kind of all
- 2:46hotel art thief expanded universe as
- 2:48well. That's true. thinking that that's
- 2:50how I booked it. That's how I think of
- 2:52everyone.
- 2:55Either past or potential. That's how I
- 2:58think of the main universe. That's how I
- 3:00see everybody. We have like a like a
- 3:02Disney level event where we announce the
- 3:04next step.
- 3:06I think it's going to be funny. Are both
- 3:08Hotel Art thief princess canoticle
- 3:10princess. Yeah. You should do that huge
- 3:12like um like calendar that Marvel does
- 3:15where it lays out the next like five
- 3:17years, but it's like old guy rabbi
- 3:20sketch
- 3:223D train.
- 3:25I was thinking this clip is going to be
- 3:26funny cuz like if I uh if people see
- 3:29your faces podcasting, they're going to
- 3:31be expecting some sort of like Mr. Bit.
- 3:33Yeah. Earnestly doing arts and
- 3:36craft pops up.
- 3:40Hi. Are you gonna try and make him
- 3:44make him out of your material?
- 3:49I've just been sort of a stream of
- 3:50conscious felting. I have no idea what
- 3:52I'm doing. We try to we try to
- 3:53collectively build another podcast
- 3:55guest.
- 3:57I like the sound of that. Yeah. What's
- 3:59that game where uh it's like called
- 4:01beautiful manic beautiful corpse or
- 4:03something? Beautiful exquisite corpse.
- 4:05That's the one with the the paper
- 4:06folded. What is that? It's like a It's
- 4:10like my house growing up. Well,
- 4:12honestly, let's do one of those and then
- 4:14maybe try to do one at a Oh, yeah.
- 4:15That'll work. That's a cool corpse to
- 4:18me. Yeah. Perfect Friday night piece of
- 4:22piece of paper and it's going to be
- 4:24folded a few times uh enough for like uh
- 4:27so there's five sections. I'll draw
- 4:29something with the lines a little bit
- 4:31going to the next section. Then you
- 4:32finish the up to the top. Totally. Love
- 4:35it. Yeah. You have to fold it. I have to
- 4:37fold it so that it has five bends. Yeah.
- 4:40Okay. A little bit of a math. And then
- 4:42what? Well, we'll we'll Okay, we'll do
- 4:44it the Okay, I'm going to guess it a
- 4:47little bit.
- 4:50Oh my god. And then it'll create a
- 4:51picture. I don't know what it is. I'm so
- 4:55scared.
- 4:56I'm scared. The colors can only think
- 4:58instructions. Like a cover of like a 60s
- 5:00book about like children's learning
- 5:02development. Yeah. It's like textbook
- 5:05art. That's an example of a maladaptive
- 5:07learner.
- 5:09This is a pervert.
- 5:18Okay, I'm going to get this started and
- 5:20then when I pass it to you, Carly, you
- 5:22don't look at my drawing, but you just
- 5:24look at the like where it comes up in
- 5:27yours and you draw up to the next up to
- 5:29the next fold. Yeah. Okay. Yeah. Yeah.
- 5:31And then you pass it to Joe with it
- 5:33folded up. And then when we go through
- 5:34all, we'll have created collectively
- 5:37some sort of [ __ ] Something
- 5:38terrible. Yeah. And then we'll cut it
- 5:40out and we'll kiss it. All right. Sounds
- 5:42good.
- 5:43I like that part.
- 5:45Just burps in my mouth. I hope it
- 5:47doesn't come up on the
- 5:50It comes up like
- 5:52way backwards like always. Is it corpse?
- 6:01We do it. Do it. Okay. It was good that
- 6:05you were immediately honest. I had to
- 6:07be. I didn't want to get caught. Guys, I
- 6:10burped.
- 6:11I'm sorry.
- 6:16The only podcast that's mostly silence.
- 6:20Folding.
- 6:22Everyone's definitely like deeply I'm so
- 6:24focused focused on their crafting
- 6:27something.
- 6:28Do you have any people that are come on
- 6:30that are like craft resistant? Uh the
- 6:33crafts are uh new so I have I have not
- 6:36yet hit that type of person
- 6:39but they would I would convert them.
- 6:42Have you met anybody like that? I'm
- 6:44usually kind of like that. I'm pretty
- 6:46craft resistant. Really? Oh, so the
- 6:48answer is yes. Like can we just like
- 6:49chill? This is nice. But I'm the same
- 6:52way about like board games and like
- 6:53party games. I'm like come on. Can we
- 6:55just hang out? Damn. Talk to each other.
- 6:57Sorry. I'll always do a party game. I'll
- 7:01try, but okay. Well, a party game to me
- 7:04is different than a board game. I think
- 7:05if it doesn't if it only involves like
- 7:07pencils and papers and stuff, that's
- 7:09fine. But if there's like if there's any
- 7:11reading of the rules. Yeah.
- 7:15It's like do this on your own time.
- 7:18I want to do this.
- 7:21Clock out of our
- 7:23friendship. See you.
- 7:28Trying to make it so Carly doesn't see
- 7:29what I'm doing. I'm not even I'm so
- 7:32You're so You're so absorbed. I'm into
- 7:33this. Sort of like an illustrative
- 7:35telephone. Exactly. Yes. I don't know
- 7:38why it's called exquisite corpse. This
- 7:39kind of [ __ ] the hell. Isn't it like
- 7:42something the surrealist? That's [ __ ]
- 7:44up. The surrealists were I like the idea
- 7:47that like the dot eyes were just coming
- 7:49up with like stupid party games like
- 7:51like telephone was like a really Yeah.
- 8:01Okay. So then Okay. So I'm passing it
- 8:04off to you,
- 8:07Carly.
- 8:09Uh but Okay. So you want to you want
- 8:13your lines to go slightly above the
- 8:14fold. Okay. At the top so the next
- 8:16person can see where to start. Gotcha.
- 8:19Well, this [ __ ] sneezing on the
- 8:21pie. Have some respect. kept it off my
- 8:24bless you. Bless you.
- 8:27Bless you. Like that you're you're kind
- 8:29of like making stained glass windows in
- 8:32a way. In a way, I'm not.
- 8:37But that is a nice way of putting it.
- 8:39Thank you. Whoa. That's cool. It's like
- 8:42the gim. Oh my god. Wait, why is No,
- 8:46that is better. Yeah. No. Yeah.
- 8:48Candell's Candell is down here. It's not
- 8:51a competition.
- 8:53It's not. Crafts are not competitive.
- 8:57That's right.
- 8:59Except when they are. Oh, yeah. We're
- 9:00finding out why Michael doesn't like
- 9:02craft.
- 9:03Sucks. Sorry.
- 9:06No, it's not a competition. 60s films.
- 9:07We're like, "Oh, the kids are expressing
- 9:09aggression through their activity."
- 9:12[ __ ] [ __ ] [ __ ]
- 9:17This is uh it will the crafts will get
- 9:19progressively. It looks like hot ones.
- 9:21It will get progressively harder. I'm
- 9:23going to I'm going to bust out origami
- 9:25uh frog. I'm chugging milk and making my
- 9:29crafts. You know those you know those
- 9:30like Lego Eiffel Towers? That's up next.
- 9:33That's the top. But you have to come up
- 9:35with your own uh building an IKEA
- 9:37furniture
- 9:43joinery.
- 9:46Right. So, you're gonna draw on this
- 9:49space now. Okay, cool. Yep. Have fun.
- 9:53[Laughter]
- 9:55Have fun. Trying to These are only the I
- 9:59So, I just have to connect these lines.
- 10:01You can. Yeah. Uh, yeah. You Yeah, you
- 10:03start Oh, yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yes. You
- 10:05start with the the Yeah, you start with
- 10:06the lines that they that they drew and
- 10:07then you got to I did it right.
- 10:10Oops. Oh, god. Oh, god.
- 10:14Damn. Making a damn sweater. Whoa. I'm
- 10:18making a damn sweater. You think you
- 10:19could do that? Like a pipe cleaner? That
- 10:21would stab yourself a million times.
- 10:25One could for sure. One could. Should
- 10:29one could
- 10:30should one could one could one. I think
- 10:34pipe cleaners are probably like of of
- 10:37people's favorite crafts. I think that
- 10:39they're number one just because they're
- 10:40so It feels really good. I wish like
- 10:41Yeah. Joann's Fabric should release like
- 10:43a Spotify rap type thing of It's like
- 10:46number one with a bullet. It's [ __ ]
- 10:48pipe cleaners.
- 10:50You guessed it. They not like us.
- 10:57Live, laugh, love sign. Yeah. Oh my god,
- 11:01it's huge. I'm I'm also not good at
- 11:03crafts, by the way, and it's something
- 11:04I'm That's been part of the fun here is
- 11:07uh it's all it's all about uh learning
- 11:10it. I don't know. Rediscovering craft.
- 11:12Yes. Because most people stop crafting
- 11:15when you're a child and you either start
- 11:17doing art or you stop altogether. Yeah.
- 11:19Basically kindergarten is kind of the
- 11:21dividing line on pipe cleaner. That's
- 11:23the craft zone for sure. Well, it's
- 11:26interesting. Crafts used to be like so
- 11:28important and you know. Oh, wait. That
- 11:31microphone is fully facing the other
- 11:32way. Sorry. Sorry. That's all good.
- 11:35Crafts used to be so useful and
- 11:37necessary to life. Mhm. No. Say what you
- 11:40really said. Yeah, you didn't say that.
- 11:43Come on. Joe is crying in the bathroom.
- 11:50It's like Picasso said, the trick is to
- 11:53remain arts and crafts good at macaroni
- 11:55art until you're older.
- 11:58Is that what he said? He's got some
- 11:59famous quote about uh everybody's a
- 12:02child artist. Like kids are great
- 12:05artists and then the trick to man is a
- 12:06kid as you get older, right? Right.
- 12:08That's why he dated a 17-year-old, I
- 12:10think. Yeah. Yeah. That's right. To stay
- 12:12close to the artistic spirit. Right. I
- 12:15love your macaroni art. Wa. You're so
- 12:18connected to like God. You're just like
- 12:21closer to him.
- 12:24Oh. Oh, yeah. That's awesome. I love the
- 12:27colors. Thank you. I'm going to put my
- 12:29keys on it. That's what's up. Thank you.
- 12:35There's something about like the rapid
- 12:37like
- 12:38uh repetition of some sort of craft
- 12:40thing makes
- 12:41it like I don't know creates a thing
- 12:44larger than the piece itself. Like I'm
- 12:46looking at that and that you know what I
- 12:47mean? And then that we got tessellation.
- 12:50That's scary. That's like something you
- 12:52find in the woods.
- 12:54Flare witch project. It's like day 30 of
- 12:56schizophrenia. Totally. You're making a
- 12:59flag for your new nation. Gave you all
- 13:01the clues, Mr. Policeman.
- 13:05You could have saved her.
- 13:08This is what I'll use to taunt the
- 13:09police later.
- 13:12Where the first victim worked. We gave a
- 13:15spider acid and a bachelor's of arts.
- 13:20He needed the degree.
- 13:23Did you guys anybody go to art school?
- 13:25Uh I did film school. Art school. You
- 13:28went to film school? I went to a I went
- 13:30to a film program within a larger
- 13:33college but for film. You went to art
- 13:36school? Yeah. What art school? Uh just
- 13:39uh at the University of Georgia. So not
- 13:41like a specific art school. That was
- 13:43kind of what I did at Boston University.
- 13:45Yeah. Um yeah, it was chill. That's
- 13:50cool. Economics is kind of an art.
- 13:55How's that going right now? Oh, it's
- 13:57going good.
- 13:59All I have to do is connect these
- 14:02lines. you. Yeah, you have to use those
- 14:04lines. It's all about the money with
- 14:06you.
- 14:08And then and then up to the without
- 14:10looking at the previous thing, take
- 14:12those lines and draw whatever you want
- 14:14in that space. And then whatever lines
- 14:15that you have at the top, make sure that
- 14:17they go over to the next section a
- 14:18little bit. Does that make sense? Yes.
- 14:19Over to Okay. Yeah. So then Whitley will
- 14:22finish it off. I'm scared. When you
- 14:24study economics,
- 14:26like what is that like? Are you just
- 14:28doing tests? Are you writing papers? Are
- 14:31you you're doing you're taking exams.
- 14:32You're like I don't know. You're mostly
- 14:35not going to class
- 14:38and you're showing up the day of the
- 14:39exam being like I think I I think I got
- 14:41it. It's it's whatever class you take is
- 14:45just something you already did in a math
- 14:48class before. So it can't be that way.
- 14:51Okay.
- 14:53I had to take one math class uh for my
- 14:57film degree and it was this one math
- 14:59class that all of the like art kids took
- 15:02called quantitative reasoning because
- 15:04there were no numbers whatsoever. It was
- 15:06just little like logic sentences. Wow.
- 15:08That you had to finish. Oh yeah. It was
- 15:10amazing. Do you have Do you have an
- 15:12example? Uh I couldn't remember one now,
- 15:14but it was a lot of like therefore like
- 15:17if this whatever. It's like if John has
- 15:19three apples, he has more apples. Three.
- 15:21I heard a three is not allowed. John has
- 15:24multiple apples.
- 15:26Right. Some don't worry about it. A
- 15:29train is leaving Chicago. Yes. Is that
- 15:31good? Sure. If you want to if you want
- 15:35to get out of
- 15:36Chicago society, anybody bringing in the
- 15:38number is like, get out of here.
- 15:41Get out. Dead poet Society slaps. But I
- 15:44I love that. I love that Dead Poet
- 15:46Society. A math class is so funny. Get
- 15:48you out of geometry. A triangle is all
- 15:51about feeling it. It's all about the
- 15:54Yeah. reading the Pythagorean theorem on
- 15:56their desks. Yeah.
- 16:00A squ. They stand up on their desks and
- 16:03all their like calculators fall.
- 16:07I had this English teacher in high
- 16:08school who like on the first day of
- 16:11class like really pulled some uh dead
- 16:14poet Society [ __ ] Like we were all
- 16:16sitting in our desks waiting and this is
- 16:18a little bit of a brag story. I'm sorry.
- 16:21He killed
- 16:22himself
- 16:23immediately. And we're like all sitting
- 16:25waiting for him to come into class. And
- 16:27he comes in through the back of the
- 16:28classroom like already reading my summer
- 16:31paper that I that we had all like handed
- 16:33in like before the year started. And
- 16:35he's like reading the first paragraph
- 16:37and like walking through all the rows of
- 16:39the chairs. And he gets to me and hands
- 16:41it to me and he's like, "That's how you
- 16:42start a paper." You got like a really
- 16:44good grade on the on the essay.
- 16:47Does the kids hate you? Um, I was kind
- 16:50of like that. So, it wasn't it wasn't
- 16:52like a surprise. What What do you mean
- 16:54by that? I was like pretty good at high
- 16:57school. Oh, cool. Yeah. In like a
- 16:59competitive way. Um, not really. Not
- 17:02really. But I don't know. Just on a sw
- 17:04just had that swag. I just I liked
- 17:05writing and I liked English and I did a
- 17:07lot of clubs. So, Well, yeah. What What
- 17:10clubs is was everybody in in general? I
- 17:13did drama club. I did academic bowl
- 17:16which was like quiz like trivia. Do you
- 17:18still do trivia? Yeah, I love trivia.
- 17:20Yeah, we do trivia night sometimes. We
- 17:21do trivia. Um, and then I did debate
- 17:25also. Yo, and I was in yearbook. Damn.
- 17:28Dang, dude. Mhm. I I you you Okay. You
- 17:33have a very chill energy and that
- 17:37doesn't align with my perception of you.
- 17:39This was before I became chill. This was
- 17:42pretty chill. Old Carly. I was figuring
- 17:44it out. I killed her.
- 17:48She's dead. She's in the yearbook
- 17:50office.
- 17:52It's the shining photo. Just zooming in.
- 17:54Yeah, I've always been here. Always been
- 17:56here. What'd you do in high school? Um I
- 17:59was also very tryh hard in high school.
- 18:01I did I joined I was in um what's it
- 18:05called? mock trial for like two weeks
- 18:07because I was get I was like panicking
- 18:08that I didn't have enough
- 18:09extracurriculars for college and they
- 18:12had already started and I was just like
- 18:13put on as a witness and I was just like
- 18:15terrible.
- 18:17You witness on your college application
- 18:21by something terrible.
- 18:25Um, I did cross country was like cross
- 18:28country and track were like my favorite
- 18:30things I did, I guess, because I I feel
- 18:31like I met good friends and that and it
- 18:33was just like fun to shoot [ __ ] in the
- 18:35woods and like just run long distances
- 18:38and and make jokes and and that stuff.
- 18:42Um, what else? I also did quiz bowl but
- 18:45was not very good at it. It's hard it's
- 18:47hard to I mean it's we were talking
- 18:49about it's hard to like prepare for just
- 18:51general general trivia. Yeah. Yeah. We
- 18:53didn't prepare at all. That's why I
- 18:54loved that. It was a joke. You just show
- 18:56up and like see if you can answer
- 18:57questions. Exactly.
- 19:00Mike, what about you? Okay, I'm done
- 19:02with this.
- 19:04I fold it. Ah, I think I have that way.
- 19:07Yes. Yeah. Yeah. Oh, he has did mock
- 19:11trial but just once because I'd had to
- 19:13fill in for someone who something
- 19:15happened to him and I just had I just
- 19:17showed up like the day of and I read the
- 19:19Mike was an understudy when mock trial
- 19:21boy died to him. I don't
- 19:24know, but I Yeah, I was like a lawyer,
- 19:27but I didn't know what the case was. And
- 19:29then uh the other You did that southern
- 19:32You were You're describing a nightmare.
- 19:35This is This is ridiculous. You were a
- 19:38mock pub.
- 19:40No, I don't know what happened here. Out
- 19:42of order, but it is ridiculous. But you
- 19:46can just lie on the stand. Like I'd be
- 19:48like, "So you did this." And then they'd
- 19:50be like, "I didn't do that." And then
- 19:52I'd be like, "Well, [ __ ] I don't know.
- 19:53I just learned I just read this on the
- 19:55bus today." Okay, I guess I have no more
- 19:58questions. And you just said you didn't
- 19:59at all. Are you sure? You You had like a
- 20:04in your testimony, you said you did it.
- 20:06But I guess I guess we're just lying
- 20:08now.
- 20:10Damn. I don't know. I did I also did
- 20:12cross country.
- 20:14That's where all the nice guys were
- 20:17and the gay guys. I'll say that in my
- 20:20high school.
- 20:22I'm trying to think. We had some weird
- 20:24guys, but no gay guys. Totally. Or at
- 20:26least not that I know of. Like you could
- 20:27be both. Yeah. Yeah. Wow. Famously.
- 20:31Totally. A square rectangle situation.
- 20:35Which one's the square? Which one's the
- 20:36rectangle? I was just working that out
- 20:38in my head and it doesn't really work.
- 20:40Not all weird guys are gay, but all gay
- 20:42guys are weird.
- 20:45Uh, unless we quantitative reasoning.
- 20:49Yes, that got me an A in quantitative
- 20:52reasoning. Oh, okay. I think this is the
- 20:54I think this is the big reveal. Oh,
- 20:56[ __ ] You guys ready for this? Let's do
- 20:57it.
- 21:00I'm already know. It's funny cuz I see
- 21:01you drew feet and I also started with
- 21:02feet.
- 21:08There's a car part. A car with a
- 21:10Christmas tree. Cars. Cars is shorts.
- 21:13Should have used a darker Sharpie. Let's
- 21:16pass this around and then I'll bring it
- 21:17back to the Okay, that's cool. That's
- 21:19pretty That's actually really sick. It
- 21:20looks great. That's actually awesome.
- 21:22Yeah, I like it. It's like kind of
- 21:23cohesive. Yeah, it truly is. Like
- 21:25everyone use the same line weight. Yeah.
- 21:28Wow.
- 21:29Pretty good stuff. That like uh that
- 21:32looks on purpose. Yeah, it looks
- 21:34purposeful. Yeah. This the looks like a
- 21:38real monsters kind of.
- 21:41Oh, wow. like floating eyes, nose. It
- 21:45really works from every every angle.
- 21:47Yeah, it's really good at exquisite
- 21:50course. I kind of like I'm like I feel
- 21:52like if we did an I don't we can't do
- 21:53another one that's otherwise
- 21:56chat would someone paid 50 $50,000.
- 22:01This is an investment now. I'm going to
- 22:03show that one. Banksy,
- 22:06I hate him. I hate him. Yeah, Banks is a
- 22:09damn fool. Cuz he's hot. You hate him
- 22:11cuz he's hot. I hate him cuz he's hot.
- 22:13He's a good example of the not all gay
- 22:15guys are weird. Whatever. I so wanted to
- 22:18go to the the Banksy thing and like
- 22:21there was a thing on like 14th Street
- 22:23like two or three years ago like right
- 22:25after the pandemic of like a Banksy
- 22:28exhibit and I just thought that was so
- 22:31ridiculous. Wanted to go inside and
- 22:33claim to be Banksy. Yeah. It's like
- 22:35after all you know about Banksy. Didn't
- 22:37they do the is that what they did the
- 22:39dock about? Was that earlier? the exit
- 22:40through the gift shop. The gift shop.
- 22:42Yeah, that was that was a few years ago.
- 22:43Yeah, that's a good doc. It's just like
- 22:47not good. They're just not good. And Oh,
- 22:49yeah. It's a secret.
- 22:52Like, why is it show yourself? He's
- 22:55embarrassed cuz he sucks so bad. Cuz
- 22:56it's like is Oh, he's doing stuff that's
- 22:59so transgressive that he can't
- 23:04himself. It's like a girl with a balloon
- 23:06in it. Like shooting himself in the Oh
- 23:09man. And the one that like someone
- 23:11bought at that auction house and then he
- 23:13shredded it. Yeah. Yeah. I actually I
- 23:17like that a little bit just cuz there's
- 23:18a contraption involved. I like a damn
- 23:21contraption. That's cool.
- 23:23We need I do think it sucks but I do I
- 23:25don't know. You like destroyed someone's
- 23:27investment which is kind of cool. Yeah,
- 23:29that is sick. That's That is one of the
- 23:31more cooler ones. Capitalism funny to
- 23:34everyone. But
- 23:38that's I just like that there was
- 23:40somebody with a button. I think that's I
- 23:43really do enjoy that. It could have been
- 23:45that. You know what I mean? Benny, have
- 23:47you seen the sculpture that's a big
- 23:48robot arm and it's just like squeegeeing
- 23:51blood back into itself? Oh, yeah. Yeah.
- 23:53Yeah. Yeah. That's that's a big
- 23:55contraption. That sounds cool. Yeah.
- 23:57It's like it's like it'll be in a room.
- 23:59It's a room sized work of art with like
- 24:01a white floor and there's a big robot
- 24:03arm and there's like this red bloodike
- 24:05goo kind of slowly oozing out from it
- 24:07and then it just is squeezing it back
- 24:10into itself kind of satisfying. You know
- 24:12how people are upset when like there's
- 24:14food waste in art? I'm upset that that
- 24:17one's wasting blood.
- 24:20Being mad at the banana taped to the
- 24:22wall cuz it's food waste. Food waste.
- 24:25Eat that. It's tape waste. Tape waste.
- 24:29Get mad at a painting for being paint
- 24:30waste. Yeah. Or or food waste from
- 24:33berries back in the day. Oil waste. Oh
- 24:34yeah. Do you know that old paintings?
- 24:36It's they're [ __ ] It's egg. Before it
- 24:38was oil, it was egg. Egg. Oh, like for
- 24:41like [ __ ] I'm going to get this
- 24:44wrong. Thousands of years. Like all the
- 24:46all the old Jesus ones are egg egg.
- 24:49Yeah. Stinky egg probably. Yeah. Yeah.
- 24:52Yeah. What's it called? Tempera. Yes.
- 24:54Yes. And I I was at the um museum.
- 24:58Museums that you got it.
- 25:02And I uh No, you
- 25:05were a museum. I had a mustache. Where
- 25:08were I was at the M museum.
- 25:11It said temper. It just kept saying
- 25:13temper and I was like, "What is that?"
- 25:14Like what? And I looked up and they're
- 25:15like, "It's egg." And I'm like, "Oh,
- 25:17they don't want everybody to know that
- 25:18it's an egg." Right. Trying to figure
- 25:21out how to put do that anymore. I'm
- 25:23trying to make a beret, by the way.
- 25:24We're speaking of banks here. Good
- 25:26start. Yeah. I need um Let's see.
- 25:28Where's that hot glue gun at? There it
- 25:30is. There we go. Whip that thing out.
- 25:31You guys ready to start gluing a little
- 25:33bit? I would love to. Okay. The uh plug
- 25:35is behind you, Joe. Uh, kind of down to
- 25:37the left there.
- 25:40What's that? What's up? What do we laugh
- 25:42at? What do we go? Oh, [ __ ] hell.
- 25:46Might be might be behind you. The I
- 25:47don't want to plug it in at the
- 25:48beginning cuz then it gets all stinky.
- 25:49Totally. Is it over in this area? It's
- 25:52It's under your butt. Oh, if if there
- 25:54was a craft that you could be really
- 25:56good at, what do you wish? Probably this
- 25:58kind of thing. There's other plugs.
- 25:59Crocheting or bracelets. I would love to
- 26:02crochet.
- 26:03Sculpting. Yeah. High out of what? Just
- 26:07granite or marble? Clay or stone? I got
- 26:10some clay if you want to do some clay.
- 26:12Oh, yep. Yep. You got the
- 26:15Oh, the the plug. I see it. I think I'd
- 26:18thrive if you had like 10,000 Lego
- 26:20pieces. Yeah, like a a um Millennium
- 26:24Falcon for Death Star. I got to get my
- 26:28[Music]
- 26:31needs. Got it. Woo! All right. So, when
- 26:36that starts to smell weird
- 26:38and we're cooking and we're cooking with
- 26:40And we're cooking with glue. Yeah, we're
- 26:42cooking with glue. I literally just want
- 26:43to do a single tot. So, if anybody else
- 26:45is anything they're actually trying to
- 26:46glue, now's your chance. Okay, I wish I
- 26:49could do something like knit like
- 26:50something where you could make clothes.
- 26:52That would be sick. I would love to sew.
- 26:54Yeah, sewing. Yeah. Did we get
- 26:57everybody's clubs? Did I I realized I
- 26:59asked that question? I want to make
- 27:00sure. Do we Wait, did you tell us your
- 27:02clubs? Oh, yeah. Um, I was in marching
- 27:06band. I was, too. Yeah. And that was
- 27:08kind of my only club that I did. Hell
- 27:11yeah. Saxophone. Let's go. That's what's
- 27:13up, dude. That's [ __ ] sick as hell.
- 27:15You were as well. You left that one out.
- 27:17I played trumpet. Yeah. Wow. I was also
- 27:20in marching band and concert band. Yeah,
- 27:23jazz band. Hell yeah. I was in jazz
- 27:25band, too. So, I miss it. I really miss
- 27:27playing an instrument. Can you guys
- 27:28still play? Uh, I could like sheet
- 27:31music. Yeah, I was never good at like
- 27:34just like improvising on the saxophone.
- 27:37I could just pretty much just play.
- 27:39I was getting there, but I kind of gave
- 27:41up on it. And it's hard to practice the
- 27:43trumpet. It's so loud. Yeah. Yeah. I
- 27:46feel like I played clarinet in middle
- 27:47school and I was like ashamed of
- 27:49practicing. Yeah. Yeah. It's hard. Yeah.
- 27:52Well, clarinet's a bummer to practice.
- 27:55Squidward ass, dude. Squidward. I was
- 27:58not beating the Squidward allegations.
- 28:01Every Yeah, that was the That was one of
- 28:03the things that bullied me into stopping
- 28:05playing. Squidward.
- 28:11I feel like Yeah. Ban was like every the
- 28:14teacher was really chill and so it felt
- 28:16like the class where you could kind of
- 28:17like do whatever the [ __ ] you wanted for
- 28:19the most part as long as you were
- 28:20playing music. I don't know like
- 28:21compared to any other class. I was like,
- 28:23"Yeah, I'll do a lot more music." It was
- 28:25less structured. I don't want to be in
- 28:26home room. Home room. Gh. Horrific. Home
- 28:31rooms are what an odd concept. Yeah.
- 28:34It's like just let me sleep a little
- 28:35longer. Cut out home room. I'll show up
- 28:38at the first real class. Did you guys
- 28:40have like uh student announcements or
- 28:43did you just have like the school would
- 28:44give announcements? We are like I think
- 28:47our class president would do the
- 28:48announcements. Was was that a cool kid
- 28:52or not really? It's like a generally
- 28:54well-liked kid, but not really cool. We
- 28:58had a joke of the day and I auditioned
- 29:00for it and I didn't get it and that was
- 29:02one of the I remember that being
- 29:03devastating.
- 29:05I was like, "Oh man, where's the where's
- 29:07the kid now who uh did get Joke of the
- 29:09Day?"
- 29:12No, I don't I don't remember. I don't
- 29:14remember who got it. I remember it was
- 29:15me and my me and my friend, Shout out
- 29:17Dan Sastic. Uh we auditioned together
- 29:20and then these two other guys who uh
- 29:23well we did like an anti- joke like we
- 29:25did some sort of like ridiculous and
- 29:27like the the teachers were like no but
- 29:30it would have worked I think literally
- 29:32literally they didn't get it joke. Did
- 29:34you guys audition as a duo? Yes. Yeah.
- 29:36It's like supposed to be two people. It
- 29:37was like if can we can if it's just Can
- 29:40we go there now and try out? It's just
- 29:42one of us. If it's just one of us. You
- 29:44have to do it if you get it.
- 29:50say SNL. Is that how that works? Or I
- 29:52mean I feel like that's a Lonely Island
- 29:54story is that they all like uh if we if
- 29:57one of us gets it, you know, like don't
- 29:58wait don't wait for us. Gotcha. Leave me
- 30:01behind. Leave me. Leave me to die.
- 30:05It's hot. I can smell. I can smell a
- 30:08little bit.
- 30:12You ready for You
- 30:13ready? Okay. Get it centered. There you
- 30:18go. Oh, that looks like a golf. That
- 30:20looks like you're doing a golf thing.
- 30:23Just want to say that golf. Just want to
- 30:25affirm your golf thing. Point that out.
- 30:28In golf kind of. You could for sure. You
- 30:30can. Yeah. This is one of those. You
- 30:32can. Don't tell me what to wear.
- 30:36As long as it's a collared shirt, you
- 30:38can kind of do whatever you want with
- 30:39it. I finished my hat. Nice. That's
- 30:43pretty good. Oo. Oh, damn. That's the
- 30:47That's power craft. Bonjour.
- 30:50Oh, Banksy is why I thought to make a
- 30:52parade. Is he French? No. Oh, no. Just
- 30:55he has that kind of annoying art vibe.
- 30:57Oh, fair. Yeah. Yeah.
- 30:59Sort of like a cartoon artist.
- 31:02He's English. Oh, yeah. Yeah. Yeah.
- 31:04Banksy Banksy. He's English. Yeah. This
- 31:08should have been like a like a a news
- 31:10boy camp but with like graffiti. You
- 31:13know what I mean? Barbwire. Barbwire on
- 31:15news.
- 31:17Mickey
- 31:18Mouse dead. Mickey Mouse in like a goth
- 31:22barbwire. He's in a ball gag.
- 31:30Banksy.
- 31:32Oh, dog barking. Oh [ __ ] Where did my
- 31:35little guy go? You're [ __ ] You're
- 31:37[ __ ] Can we curse? Nope. No. Oh no.
- 31:42We got to start over. I will go through
- 31:43and bleep out every curse.
- 31:46Boring. I did that recently. I uh tried
- 31:50to put out a bunch of dirty jokes and so
- 31:52I like just went through and went like
- 31:54just beep on every single time I said
- 31:56like come and [ __ ] and stuff. You know
- 31:57what I mean? Mhm. Like beeps make things
- 32:00funnier sometime. It's true. A hearty
- 32:01beep is really funny. And it could be
- 32:03anything which makes it even funnier.
- 32:07Do you you notice a lot of people when
- 32:09they're like captioning comedy on
- 32:10Instagram will like spell bad words like
- 32:13weirdly so it won't get detected. I
- 32:16think that's weird. I mean I get why
- 32:18people have to do it. It's like does it
- 32:20even work? I mean I feel like most of
- 32:21those softwares probably still recognize
- 32:23like maybe I guess if you're doing like
- 32:25a really weird interpretation. I've
- 32:26tried to do like a different thing where
- 32:28you just like substitute the word for a
- 32:30different word a different word that's
- 32:31like not vulgar. Yeah. And then it like
- 32:34so if you're reading it, it kind of just
- 32:36seems seamlessly that. And if you're
- 32:39listening, you don't care. I guess like
- 32:43penis.
- 32:45Yeah. Another word. Yeah. Yeah. Like a
- 32:47real word. I'm talking about my pleis.
- 32:55I'm trying to do it more vulgar. I'm
- 32:57trying to be more vulgar. Yeah. Like if
- 32:59I say if I say like [ __ ] or something,
- 33:01I'll I'm going to start making it say
- 33:03like dookie.
- 33:06I don't know. That's probably not moral.
- 33:08I think that's allowed. Piss. Piss.
- 33:14Look at all these. Is that becoming a
- 33:16person there, Kendall? Is that Hey, you
- 33:18know, no one knows what is going on.
- 33:21Whoa. It's becoming 3D.
- 33:24Way. as a kind of Ninja Turtle vibe on
- 33:28the top. He needs He's kind of got a
- 33:30baby head where his neck can't really
- 33:32support.
- 33:34That's tough.
- 33:36What is this going to be, Whitley? Is
- 33:38this like a collar or
- 33:40something cool? That's really something.
- 33:44Or a bracelet. Yes. Could be a guy. Oh
- 33:48my god. There you go. Could be a
- 33:50headband. Yeah, Benny, you can you can
- 33:51keep mine.
- 33:55Oh, crowd. Do you do you sew or knit or
- 33:59Um, not really. I mean, I I've done like
- 34:01embroidery and I do basic sewing. This
- 34:04seems like a summer camp skill. Like a
- 34:07leftover summer camp. I was just weaving
- 34:09it. Nice. It's just weaving it. I don't
- 34:12know how to weave. Yeah, I wouldn't be
- 34:13able to pull that off. Yeah. Yeah. Did
- 34:15you guys go to summer camp? Speaking of
- 34:17which, like once or twice randomly. I've
- 34:19really hated it. Yeah, same. That's
- 34:22good. I'm glad. I hated it. I wrote a
- 34:24letter home to my parents and they kept
- 34:26it and sometimes my mom reads it. No. I
- 34:30thought you were going to say that the I
- 34:31thought you meant that the camp kept it
- 34:33and no letting you communicate. I was
- 34:37like mommy didn't write back yet. She's
- 34:40busy.
- 34:42I think she loves you
- 34:44probably throwing it out. Do you recall
- 34:46what it said then? No. It was like I
- 34:48want to go home and then they're like
- 34:50no. They wrote a letter back. No. I was
- 34:52like, I you got to let me This is a one
- 34:54word letter. No,
- 34:58I went to a karate camp. Oh, yeah. That
- 35:02sounds I want to go to karate camp. Uh,
- 35:04it was miserable.
- 35:06No. Well, only because it was like I was
- 35:09there. I I think it was fun if you went
- 35:10there as a kid. I went there as like a
- 35:11teenager and the karate dojo I went to
- 35:14was like super or like wanted to be
- 35:17super intense. Um, so they made like
- 35:20beating us kind of I mean the I was the
- 35:24black belt test was like essentially you
- 35:26were just pledging at the You just had
- 35:28to fight four guys. You had to you had
- 35:30to do anything the current black belts
- 35:33asked and then what Yeah. You had to run
- 35:36everywhere. You couldn't walk. No. And
- 35:38then the last day all the black belt
- 35:41testers are like or like the people who
- 35:43are testing are like covered in dirt.
- 35:45They're like had to wear their geese the
- 35:46entire time. And then they're exhausted.
- 35:49They haven't been sleeping. And the last
- 35:51test is they go up and down the line of
- 35:53like the 30ome black belts that are
- 35:55currently black belts. And they have to
- 35:56fight them one by one. And then all
- 35:59these older black belts are like fully
- 36:01fully fine. They have like a super easy
- 36:0430 people. Yeah. And do like a minute
- 36:06each. That's crazy. Really bad. Yeah. It
- 36:09was a bizarre bizarre thing. That's
- 36:11worse than frat. They don't make you
- 36:12fight everybody in the fr. Yeah. You can
- 36:14fight every dude in the fr. That's much
- 36:16worse. Wow. Oh my god.
- 36:19So, I didn't get my black belt. Well,
- 36:22yeah. But you like went you got like 25
- 36:25guys in and just got Yeah. How many guys
- 36:28did you fight? I I I didn't go the year
- 36:30I was supposed to test for my black.
- 36:31That was sort of like the I was like,
- 36:32I'm going to focus on my studies. That's
- 36:35probably for the best. I like the idea
- 36:36that it's like a normal summer camp.
- 36:39Also, Kendall, it looks like you you're
- 36:41making somebody who's stuck in like a
- 36:42Mr. beast
- 36:43game in some sort of horrible obstacle
- 36:46position or something. They're on a
- 36:48leash. You You got somebody on a saw
- 36:50trap right now. It's true. Kind of like
- 36:54that's their head is connected to their
- 36:55butthole.
- 36:57Yeah. Shield portrait sculpture
- 37:03and karate karate summer camp. summer
- 37:05camp, but it's uh karate and they're
- 37:08doing still like canoeing and uh
- 37:10pranking the other cabins and stuff, but
- 37:11it's all karate like like like waking up
- 37:14in the middle of the night, you're
- 37:16chopping, you know, Lindsay Love, you
- 37:18know, the parent trap where they fill
- 37:19that one cabin all with the honey and
- 37:21stuff. It's that but it's just you wake
- 37:23up and people they wake up and kick ass.
- 37:26That seems like the ultimate movie.
- 37:28Karate Summer. Yes. Yeah. Sneaking into
- 37:31girls bunks and like doing katas. Yeah.
- 37:37is the most. Uh, yes. Yes. What was the
- 37:41thing where you had to hold your pee?
- 37:43That was one time when I was like I was
- 37:45trying to impress somebody. So, I drank
- 37:48a ton of water at karate camp. But then
- 37:52we had to go to a tournament where all
- 37:54the black balls were getting beat up and
- 37:56you weren't allowed. There was a big
- 37:57thing. It's like you weren't allowed to
- 37:58go to the like it was all about like
- 38:00decorum and like like manners.
- 38:03and not like with the one of the rules
- 38:06of the dojo is like if you had to vomit
- 38:08which apparently happened a lot you were
- 38:09supposed to open up your ghee and vomit.
- 38:11still having like a lawsuit. Yeah. What
- 38:15the hell? You're saying, "Wait, sorry.
- 38:17The rule is you have to vomit on
- 38:18yourself. Your own
- 38:20mouth website. It's like Abu
- 38:24Gra to puke on yourself." That was what
- 38:27we were told in my like mommy. But I was
- 38:30like, again, I was like 14. I was and I
- 38:32was in the teen and adults class cuz I
- 38:33was I was a big 14year-old. Um you you
- 38:37best be puking on yourself.
- 38:40Um, but anyway, so I really had to pee
- 38:42because of all this chugging that I did
- 38:44to impress all the kids in my cabin. And
- 38:47then but I didn't want to that you
- 38:49weren't we weren't allowed to go to the
- 38:50bathroom unless it was like an
- 38:52emergency. So I had to like claim that I
- 38:54was like about to vomit. Piss. Yeah. And
- 38:58they let me leave. Um, but it was just
- 39:01piss.
- 39:02Just piss.
- 39:05They're going to say like you peed in
- 39:06the middle of the fight. I was I was
- 39:08sent my kid to a space where they can
- 39:10feel pressure to not use their bodily
- 39:13function. Yeah. Really messed them up
- 39:15about that. Put them in a
- 39:19shame. Like nobody went to an overnight
- 39:21summer camp at all. Did you guys go? I
- 39:23did. You did? Oh [ __ ] Okay. When I
- 39:25wrote the letters home. Oh yeah. Yeah.
- 39:26Yeah. Yeah. Like get me out of here. I I
- 39:29wish I went to Longest one I went to was
- 39:31like a three-day Jewish one one time,
- 39:33but for the most part I went to like
- 39:35eight weeks.
- 39:37I think six or eight weeks. Yeah. And I
- 39:39remember like my parents being like this
- 39:41is a one time thing. It was really
- 39:42expensive. I think it was like fancy. I
- 39:45went for I think maybe two weeks or a
- 39:48week at a like three different times and
- 39:50I hated it every time. It was intense.
- 39:53Mine was like at a college. It was at a
- 39:55Welssley College in Massachusetts and it
- 39:58was like beautiful and it was a bunch of
- 39:59like international kids. There were a
- 40:02ton of like day trips and stuff. Sports.
- 40:06It was cool. I like it. Hot glue gun
- 40:08real quick. By the way, maybe we should
- 40:09unplug it. Hot glue gun. Yeah. Do we You
- 40:12want to use it? Okay. Just want to make
- 40:14sure because Yeah.
- 40:16Sorry. Sorry to interrupt. Going to need
- 40:18that. No, I actually forgot. Okay. I
- 40:21blocked out this memory. Uh I went to a
- 40:24like two week um video game development
- 40:29uh camp when I was like 16. Where was
- 40:31it? Um, some sort of uh tech college
- 40:35maybe in like Maryland or Delaware or
- 40:37something. I don't remember the exact uh
- 40:39place, but I just remember that like uh
- 40:42it was so clicky in this insane way that
- 40:45I didn't like you would have thought it
- 40:46would have been all like kind of like
- 40:48nerds or something. Totally. And that
- 40:50was like a significant fraction of it.
- 40:52So then the only people that like were
- 40:54women or the not nerd guys immediately
- 40:58sort of formed this insane hierarchy and
- 41:01just like ost and like I didn't like
- 41:03that. So then they like ostracized me
- 41:05and all the other nerds to like this
- 41:06like peasant class and it was like a
- 41:09horrible time. Like hey you're still a
- 41:11video game development. Yeah. I was It
- 41:14was crazy. Yeah. Wow. Lord of the Flies.
- 41:18It was weird. Yeah. Did you learn how to
- 41:20develop a video game at all? Honestly,
- 41:22they honestly No, it was um like it
- 41:25wasn't even that. It was like within
- 41:27this game called Neverwinter Nights.
- 41:29They had like this system for building a
- 41:31level within that game platform. So, we
- 41:34just built a video game level. It's
- 41:36like, you know, you ever play Halo
- 41:37Forge? You ever like make a Halo like
- 41:40put where decide where the guns go and
- 41:41stuff? It's like we did that for two
- 41:43weeks. Awesome. It was It was cool.
- 41:46tortured by you. Hegemonic. Yeah. Oh,
- 41:50you know, okay. We had Okay. We had an
- 41:53uprising. So, we we would play video
- 41:55games.
- 41:59Rushing back. We uh we would play like
- 42:02video games collectively. Uh like we do
- 42:04like land parties. We play like COD and
- 42:06stuff, right? And so by the end, me and
- 42:09like the the horde of nerds uh me and
- 42:11the other nerds, I was also a nerd at
- 42:13this time. Um, it still ends. Yeah.
- 42:16Yeah. Uh, we kind of like just started
- 42:19just attacking them all the time in the
- 42:21game and like So, it was a virtual
- 42:23rebellion. It's a virtual rebellion. In
- 42:25real life, we were like, "Hello,
- 42:28hi."
- 42:30They had us play like sports and [ __ ]
- 42:32We like playing kickball. It's like,
- 42:34"No, we're here to video game camp."
- 42:37Yeah. Some of my high school friends
- 42:39were counselors at like a very similar
- 42:41camp when we were in high school for
- 42:42like younger kids. They're like, "Yeah,
- 42:45like the kids really hate outdoor
- 42:47time." Like, but we like have to give
- 42:50them like an hour of outdoor time. They
- 42:53get really mad during
- 42:55it. And they were like, "Yeah, like the
- 42:57girls feel really alienated and Oh,
- 43:01yeah. No, that makes sense. Yeah. I
- 43:03don't Yeah, I couldn't tell you. I don't
- 43:06know. I couldn't tell you who those
- 43:07girls were as people, but I remember
- 43:09that they were gods in that vicinity.
- 43:12It's cool if you can embrace that and
- 43:14not just be um you know, and there was
- 43:17an uprising.
- 43:19There was an uprising. Yeah, that is a
- 43:21bit of a I just remember that being a
- 43:23not not the best couple weeks. Mhm. But
- 43:26I went to I went to a camp I liked a
- 43:27lot. I went to um this old uh like
- 43:30nature day camp. That was a lot of fun.
- 43:32Nice. That sounds good. Did you guys go
- 43:34you guys go to any that you liked?
- 43:37No. I was never going to like camp as a
- 43:40kid. I just hated like having to be
- 43:42somewhere every day during the summer
- 43:46and having to like do stuff. Just wanted
- 43:49to be at home. Yeah. I mean, I like band
- 43:52camp. Wow. That for a week. That was
- 43:56usually fun. I would love to go to band
- 43:58camp. What's that? You didn't do band
- 44:00camp? No, we didn't do band camp.
- 44:02Really? We did a week every before the
- 44:04school year where we would go and learn
- 44:06our routine and hang out and it was
- 44:10generally like pretty exciting. It's
- 44:12like you're all socially getting
- 44:14together before school starts and people
- 44:16are doing homework and it's famously
- 44:20horny.
- 44:21[Music]
- 44:22I think that well camp camp in general
- 44:24is famously horny the way I do it. Yeah.
- 44:28No, sir. [ __ ] you in my
- 44:35I I enjoyed running camp. I did a
- 44:36running camp. Whoa. That was at the same
- 44:39camp as my karate camp, but I did it as
- 44:41I was old when I was older. And I
- 44:43actually did enjoy it, but it was
- 44:44exhausting. Running camp? What do you
- 44:46mean it was the same camp as the karate
- 44:48camp? It was like the same uh it was in
- 44:50the Poconos. It was at the same
- 44:51location. Oh, sure. Campadensus.
- 44:54Wait, are you from the Philly area, too?
- 44:56No, Jersey. Oh, gotcha. Okay. Yeah.
- 44:58Yeah. Yeah. Wait, can it Yeah. Can Can't
- 45:00Canad I straight up think I might have
- 45:03gone there for like 3 days for like the
- 45:05Hebrew for the Jewish thing. I straight
- 45:07up think I've been there. Yeah. Yeah.
- 45:09Does Gaga ball ring a bell? Yeah, dude.
- 45:11Yeah. Yeah. Oh, you know what it was?
- 45:13Oh. Um uh like by like the water like an
- 45:16octagon, dude. I caught a fish there.
- 45:18Yeah. Okay. Uh I met that fish. That's
- 45:20crazy.
- 45:21He gave me very wise advice.
- 45:24Fish.
- 45:25It was uh our like sixth grade. We had a
- 45:28we had like a school camping trip. Oh,
- 45:32and oh, there was a dance at the end of
- 45:34it and that ended early and everybody
- 45:35was crying cuz uh there was a rebellion.
- 45:38It was like a
- 45:40cuz that was kind of the emo area and
- 45:41and I remember uh kids were self harming
- 45:45at the camp. Yeah. And I don't remember
- 45:48the exact details of that but that was a
- 45:51big deal. They like they we're all like
- 45:53dancing and stuff. They turn the lights
- 45:55on and they like make us all sit down
- 45:56and we have an assembly. Stop self
- 45:58harming. Yeah, they were like, "Knock it
- 46:00off.
- 46:02Knock it off. [ __ ] it off." I was a camp
- 46:05counselor. Oh, yeah. Grinding. Grinding.
- 46:08Grind. And we had
- 46:11a our prom my senior year. They did at
- 46:15the Georgia Aquarium. Uh, but the only
- 46:18thing is like you can't play the music
- 46:19too loud cuz it startles the fish.
- 46:22There's just a bunch of kids grinding to
- 46:24like extremely slow
- 46:28music with a whale going by.
- 46:32Wow. Startles the fish.
- 46:36Don't tap on the glass and they're like
- 46:38up against it
- 46:39like a whale like against the glass.
- 46:44Do you guys ever do a grind chain?
- 46:47No.
- 46:51our house.
- 46:54That That wouldn't be something else.
- 46:56Yes. While he's building his thing, does
- 46:58this seem like someone who's been in the
- 47:00drawing machine?
- 47:02He's making one. You're making one right
- 47:04now. Yeah, this is It's true. It looks
- 47:06like people playing Twister. Actually
- 47:08feels like you're going to cure
- 47:10something. Are those Is that somebody
- 47:12holding on to that? Is that cerebral
- 47:14connection? That's true. This is the
- 47:15brutalist. I'm just trying to create
- 47:17something being on top of this thing.
- 47:20It's Awesome.
- 47:23You did it.
- 47:26It's like this thing is like writing
- 47:28this bug like thing.
- 47:30Yeah. No one really knows what it's
- 47:32about.
- 47:34That does. Earlier you said it was like
- 47:36something and I liked that it was it
- 47:37resembles anything at all.
- 47:40Like that's what it shall be.
- 47:45Beast games. By the way, the uh the best
- 47:48arts and crafts tonight will get $1
- 47:50million. Oh, I I gave up after my
- 47:53keychain. It's gonna be Whitley. That's
- 47:55looking good. Yeah, that's awesome. Wow.
- 47:57I don't know. What to do next? You can
- 48:00make it a full spear. I know. That's
- 48:01what I was thinking. A a hat crown. A
- 48:04bag. Oh, a bag. An EKG. An EKG. An EKG.
- 48:10Good. Um, how's the tensile strength of
- 48:13that? How's it the Yes, it's actually
- 48:15really good. Whoa. Whoa. What does it
- 48:18look like on your head?
- 48:20Wow. Midsummer.
- 48:24Pretty good. It's pretty good. Um I have
- 48:28not seen Midsummer, but that does seem
- 48:30like that if the blood was tissue paper.
- 48:34Yeah. I would be so much more useful in
- 48:37another society. You think so? Yeah. and
- 48:41like like a like a dystopia kind of
- 48:43thing or like I could make a basket. I
- 48:46could make some I could make all kinds
- 48:48of stuff. It sounds like camp to me.
- 48:51Yeah. Well, no. I went to a like a YMCA
- 48:56Christian camp. Okay. And I distinctly
- 48:58remember like part of what I hated about
- 49:01it was I felt like I was doing a lot of
- 49:04work and not getting any recognition and
- 49:06the kids that were more charming were
- 49:09getting a lot of recognition and it
- 49:11wasn't it wasn't a
- 49:12meritocracy. Yes, totally. And also they
- 49:15made us like go around the room and talk
- 49:16about if we had a bowel movement and I
- 49:19thought that was really
- 49:20invasive their business. Why did they do
- 49:24that? I guess to make sure we were
- 49:25healthy. I think that's B. Yeah, but
- 49:28they are the wasted they that's how they
- 49:30were that's the system that the whatever
- 49:3317-year-old girl who was in charge of us
- 49:35developed where we all just go around.
- 49:37Yeah. And then there was one girl who's
- 49:39super popular and was always [ __ ]
- 49:41perfectly and you know live up to that
- 49:45just just pumping them out. Yeah.
- 49:47Perfect. Beautiful well-liked [ __ ]
- 49:49every day. Nice and firm. Mike and
- 49:53Whitley. Wow. Nothing again. Okay. Yeah.
- 49:55I'll come back to you tomorrow. Are you
- 49:57nervous?
- 49:59Are you nervous to be here? You know,
- 50:01that policy was just cuz someone [ __ ]
- 50:04themselves really bad. Yeah. Or like
- 50:06didn't [ __ ] so long they died. A
- 50:0817-year-old triaging like, "All right, I
- 50:10got to start asking them all if they've
- 50:12shhat recently." Yeah. That's really all
- 50:14I can do.
- 50:16Mike, that looks like the thing is he's
- 50:18sorry got cancelled for
- 50:20Oh, yeah. Nothing.
- 50:24Where's my camera? Where's my camera?
- 50:27It's okay.
- 50:31[Laughter]
- 50:33A bad date, right? Is that illegal now?
- 50:38Oh my gosh. If If this is wrong,
- 50:48I feel like a saw trap of sorts. Oh,
- 50:51what? A saw trap of sorts. Yeah, that's
- 50:53what it looks like. Well, it's, you
- 50:55know, it's like a there's someone up
- 50:57here, there's someone down there. Yeah.
- 50:59Yeah. Yeah. That's kind of being ridden.
- 51:02Yeah, that's kind of what I'm reading
- 51:03it. Kind of like uh violent and
- 51:07sexual like the mic specialty. We get
- 51:10the uh Can we unplug this guy now? Yes.
- 51:12Oh, yeah. Yeah. Let's get that guy
- 51:14cooled and back down for sure. Unless
- 51:16you want to forever glue that into a
- 51:18permanent position.
- 51:20Pretty secure. I was really You get You
- 51:22get to keep that by the way. Oh, you
- 51:25wait. Wear it. Wear it. Can you I have
- 51:26to carry this on the street and scare
- 51:28everyone. I'm just going to wear it as
- 51:30like a little
- 51:32terrifying. Michael, not Slytherin.
- 51:38She put me in that face. Michael's
- 51:39wearing athletic shorts and cowboy boots
- 51:42and this also. I live outside with a
- 51:44grid.
- 51:48I take the short broom
- 51:49[Laughter]
- 51:52just that
- 51:54rocks. Short train. Damn.
- 51:58Yeah.
- 51:59Oh boy. This will be good on the next
- 52:03podcast episode you do. You can explain
- 52:05to people. It's like you can even do
- 52:06this. It's really like it can even be
- 52:09this.
- 52:10Yours is looking like something. It's
- 52:12something. A He's got a little Nintendo.
- 52:17It's like a baby toy. Yeah, I really
- 52:19think of it as an a lot like a baby toy.
- 52:22Yeah.
- 52:25If that was hard plastic, babies would
- 52:27go apehit for that. Oh my god. I like
- 52:30the little felt ringy thingy. This this
- 52:33stuff. Yeah. I was I was sort of I sort
- 52:35of reg I wanted to make it like a
- 52:36sandwich, but I didn't have the colors
- 52:37for a sandwich. Oh, so I made it uh more
- 52:42just blue. Just blue. Just blue. That
- 52:44looks like a Ring doorbell for one of
- 52:45those like toy homes. Oh yeah.
- 52:49It's like a kids. You're from Fisher. Uh
- 52:51Fisher Price. Yeah, it's a Fisher Price
- 52:53Ring doorbell.
- 52:57Not kids doorbell. Yeah. Oh, wow. That
- 52:59would be crazy. Like kids toys, you
- 53:02know, like a mini kitchen or mini cars
- 53:04like the mini rings or whatever watch to
- 53:07see.
- 53:11Whitley, you better pull that off
- 53:12because those are currently ruining it.
- 53:15Stop ruining it. No, no, no, no, no. I'm
- 53:19sure it'll I'm sure it'll work out. But
- 53:20I'm But you don't think you don't like
- 53:21what's happening? The in between stage
- 53:24now.
- 53:25I think I think I think I trust it. I
- 53:27fully I fully trust it.
- 53:30Wow. Oh my gosh. This is like more
- 53:33stressful knowing that everyone like
- 53:35you're at a crossroads right now and
- 53:37you're just like stop now. Stop now.
- 53:38Yeah. Perfect. No. Don't get the gray
- 53:40paint. Don't get the gray paint. Black
- 53:43epoxy. You know, it's a dark black
- 53:44table. Yeah, that's Yeah.
- 53:47Do we have any uh
- 53:50Is it just looking at her? I'm going to
- 53:53make this I'm going to make this into a
- 53:55lily pad. This is the new plan.
- 54:01This part's This part's the easy part.
- 54:03Oh, yeah. No problem. Think about gluing
- 54:06ours together.
- 54:08Oh, and then you take it. I'll try to
- 54:10get Can we team up? There's an
- 54:13acquisition somewhere. Someone's got to
- 54:14go home with this bad boy. Double the
- 54:16value.
- 54:18It's titled occupied.
- 54:22Don't knock.
- 54:25Yeah. When this when this thing's a
- 54:26rocking. Yeah.
- 54:31Carly, what did you make? I made my
- 54:32keychain. Where? I It's on the table.
- 54:37Um, pink and green. Make a a a vamp
- 54:40cover.
- 54:43All right, restart the clock.
- 54:50What do you guys think about comedy
- 54:51these days?
- 54:53Whoa. Whoa.
- 54:56It's good. Yeah, it's good.
- 55:00Well, start with your thoughts. Yeah.
- 55:03Is it bad? Then he probably doesn't have
- 55:04any opinions. Yeah, that's true. That's
- 55:07true. There's something there.
- 55:11You got my ass, dude.
- 55:16I just think it's funny that we haven't
- 55:17been talking about comedy in any
- 55:18capacity. Not really. We don't We don't
- 55:20have to. And I don't
- 55:25even the state of it. Yeah. I was
- 55:29curious if you guys had any um pressing
- 55:31thoughts on the matter. If not, no
- 55:33worries. I mean it it's fun to do. I
- 55:36like it. Hell yeah. Yeah.
- 55:40Um I think it's increasingly not looking
- 55:42like a career. Yeah. For almost anyone
- 55:45we know. But it is. Yeah. Career-wise. I
- 55:48feel like I've It is. I feel like the
- 55:50things that are happening in
- 55:50entertainment in general is kind of
- 55:52depressing. Yeah. Like you have to
- 55:54really make some crap to be successful.
- 55:57Yeah.
- 55:59or but also any industry. They all seem
- 56:01like they're kind of equal, too. But
- 56:04this one feels particularly like not uh
- 56:07recession proof. Yeah. Especially if
- 56:10you're not making, but maybe I don't
- 56:13know. Maybe it will be. It's weird. They
- 56:15they say this the new the new wave. The
- 56:18new wave. Like, don't they famously say
- 56:20that like the like the entertainment
- 56:21industry is supposed to be recession
- 56:23proof, right? Or like that's what
- 56:24they've said before. Like people always
- 56:26want they always want to watch TV. Yes.
- 56:28Like like if you can't go out and do
- 56:30stuff, it's like all right, I'm going to
- 56:30watch Netflix. Mhm. So I don't know. I
- 56:33But but I see what you're saying though.
- 56:35And uh I hope I don't know. I think that
- 56:38we're on the precipice of a lot of money
- 56:40going the bad directions and stuff being
- 56:43more expensive and whatnot. So yeah. And
- 56:45also just like the things that people
- 56:47are watching or like that money is going
- 56:51towards in entertainment seems to be
- 56:53like uh I mean obviously like IP stuff
- 56:56but also like you know video game movies
- 56:59and right Tik Tok Tik Tok yeah YouTube
- 57:03like essentially have beast games and
- 57:05stuff like that. But I guess there also
- 57:07are models for you to make like your own
- 57:10stuff on a much smaller scale. It's
- 57:13true. might be like, okay, you'll always
- 57:15need supplemental other job, but you
- 57:17could still do maybe something you like.
- 57:21Mhm. Uh more
- 57:24easily. Pretty popular. And there's a
- 57:26path to money for YouTube. Certainly.
- 57:28Yeah. But it's not it's not everyone's
- 57:32dream necessarily to be a YouTuber.
- 57:34Sure. Which I think we'll people will
- 57:36have to adjust to.
- 57:39So negative.
- 57:42Yeah. I guess. Uh, how's it going for
- 57:44you, Benny? Uh, pretty sim similar boat
- 57:47where I'm like I think I was been kind
- 57:51of excited previously where I was like,
- 57:53"All right, maybe I could kind of get
- 57:54get it to work." But now I'm looking at
- 57:56all the money drying up and I'm like,
- 57:58"Oh, maybe I
- 58:00should get out of the game for a while."
- 58:03You know what I mean? I feel like live
- 58:05standup though is doing well now. Yeah,
- 58:08it seems like there's a lot of it. I
- 58:09don't know. better. Yeah, I was thinking
- 58:11that like with with the coming of all
- 58:14the AI stuff and how happy people are to
- 58:16see things made by AI, I was thinking
- 58:19that like live performance is one thing
- 58:21that is um AI proof a little bit. Yeah,
- 58:25because that is people will always want
- 58:27to see. I think it's true. Yeah. But I
- 58:30think the formula basically now is like
- 58:32you have to be like super famous. Some
- 58:35Yeah. Someone that people love seeing
- 58:37like on their phone like during their
- 58:38lunch break. Yes. And then it's like you
- 58:40can go visit them in a theater. Yeah.
- 58:45So that's the that's the I don't know
- 58:47that's doable. Sort of like the Disney
- 58:48experience for everything for every
- 58:51human person becomes a Disney breakfast
- 58:54meet and greet with my little character
- 58:56guy. More like celebrity based than like
- 59:00maybe workbased.
- 59:03Yeah. Singular like piece of art based.
- 59:07Yeah. Yeah, it just seems like the old
- 59:08approach to standup like is I think some
- 59:11people are definitely still doing it
- 59:13where like you somehow like try to go
- 59:15out of town with someone who has a car
- 59:17and like do shows but I don't know feel
- 59:21like most people can't or don't want to
- 59:24do that because it doesn't have very uh
- 59:26promising returns either financially or
- 59:29like you know Yeah. just career-wise
- 59:32unless you're already famous. Exactly.
- 59:35Yeah. which is why like, you know,
- 59:36people in Denver would want to see you,
- 59:38right? Otherwise, you're just in for a
- 59:40terrible trip where you make no money
- 59:42and no one likes your set.
- 59:45Yeah. I'm kind of um I guess in uh a
- 59:49little bit of that in between space
- 59:50where sometimes I'll have an out of town
- 59:52show and I'll just lose money. Yeah. And
- 59:54I'm like, okay,
- 59:56can't do I did that. Yeah. A few months
- 59:58ago and I was like, what? How are people
- 1:00:01doing this every weekend? I'm like not
- 1:00:04working otherwise. Where'd you go that
- 1:00:06time? I went to Toronto. Oh, right. But
- 1:00:08I Yeah. Paid paid for it. God damn. Paid
- 1:00:12for it. It's like what? This is like a
- 1:00:15This was a terrible decision. It's like
- 1:00:17one of the best opportunities I've had
- 1:00:19in a while. And it was a terrible
- 1:00:20decision.
- 1:00:23Yeah. I don't know. Uh, I guess the the
- 1:00:26state of comedy is state of general
- 1:00:28economy is what I think it's uh we're
- 1:00:31maybe in a spot where it's like
- 1:00:32impossible to predict and we need to
- 1:00:34just circle back in like 3 months. I
- 1:00:37don't know. Yeah. I mean, I think it's
- 1:00:39kind of almost like everything is
- 1:00:41impossible to predict and you have to
- 1:00:43just like see what
- 1:00:45opportunities arise and what different
- 1:00:47forms you can do stuff in. I guess
- 1:00:50that's what I'm telling myself. Yeah.
- 1:00:53And I think also the state of trying to
- 1:00:55be a comedian has always been the state
- 1:00:57of like trying to be a small business
- 1:00:58owner. Like if you have a bunch of
- 1:01:00capital to invest in it upfront, like
- 1:01:03you're going to be much more likely to
- 1:01:05be successful and not ruin your life.
- 1:01:09Yeah, but the sketch comedy game is
- 1:01:11booming.
- 1:01:14There you go. Yeah. So, let's go more
- 1:01:16specifics. I am actually curious. Uh
- 1:01:18speaking of which, we got Hotel Art
- 1:01:20Thief. My guest this week,
- 1:01:23Ros we're at the we're at the one hour
- 1:01:25mark. Uh $4,000 on the hotel.
- 1:01:30One of one
- 1:01:33about to be made famous in a sketch.
- 1:01:35Yeah. Put it in.
- 1:01:37My guests this week are uh Carly Maruli,
- 1:01:40a very funny uh Well, everybody here is
- 1:01:42a standup except for Joe. Yeah. Uh Carly
- 1:01:45is a very funny Joe. And then Kandell's
- 1:01:48very funny.
- 1:01:50Joe likes his computer. I do. I do
- 1:01:53little bleeps bloops on the computer.
- 1:01:55What you do with bleep bloops? Yeah.
- 1:02:00But uh Yeah, like you comedy. It's not
- 1:02:03comedy.
- 1:02:05What? Well, okay. You're all like
- 1:02:08extremely funny and are crushing it. And
- 1:02:11so to hear such a bleak outlook from
- 1:02:13this group of people is so upsetting.
- 1:02:16Truly soul crushing. Heck, I am like I
- 1:02:19am like you guys are crushing it. I've
- 1:02:22assembled the finest minds to tell you
- 1:02:24to give up. I feel like I it goes damn I
- 1:02:27[ __ ] suck. Sometimes I feel like
- 1:02:31um inspired. Yes, totally. And then
- 1:02:34other times when I feel low I guess it's
- 1:02:36just like the gap between like what is
- 1:02:39popular versus what is like good
- 1:02:42sometimes. Yeah. Is Yeah. And like
- 1:02:45what's a pathway what's a pathway to
- 1:02:47making any money? Any money? Yeah. In at
- 1:02:50all. Yeah. I am down recently because of
- 1:02:52uh I'm doing my taxes and I'm like oh
- 1:02:55yeah. Yeah. You to just take inventory
- 1:02:58of your whole [ __ ] value. Exactly. I
- 1:03:01think it's hard too when you feel like
- 1:03:02you're working so much and making no
- 1:03:07money. And I feel like, you know, you
- 1:03:09guys all do really excellent work and it
- 1:03:12ends up big places and like seemingly
- 1:03:15that doesn't translate into just like
- 1:03:17not having to worry about anything else.
- 1:03:20It's just crazy. But I do think well I
- 1:03:22guess uh while I agree with that, I do
- 1:03:26think that I don't want you to be under
- 1:03:28the illusion that it's doing nothing
- 1:03:29because I do think it's just like just
- 1:03:32keep going. Like it's like uh you know
- 1:03:34that meme with the the guy mining in the
- 1:03:36diamonds. I don't even think it's like
- 1:03:37the diamonds on the side. I think it's
- 1:03:38like right behind
- 1:03:40them. J logo
- 1:03:44holding up a sign that says give up.
- 1:03:48So close to getting there.
- 1:03:50But my my I guess my thought is it's not
- 1:03:52even that you're close to getting there.
- 1:03:53It's that every inch does matter. Uh you
- 1:03:57know what I mean? As my as my ex-wife
- 1:03:59used to say, that's why she left. And um
- 1:04:03No. Yeah. But
- 1:04:04uh like I don't know like it's like you
- 1:04:07guys could you know just go viral
- 1:04:10another what maybe 20 times and you're
- 1:04:12good. Yeah that is sort of the question
- 1:04:15like what if you knew the actual
- 1:04:17numbers it feels like it is always I am
- 1:04:20doing that calculation of like all right
- 1:04:22just got to do a couple more 100,000
- 1:04:24like things and it's like is that going
- 1:04:26to like why I always just be saying
- 1:04:29that? I'm not kidding. I think that's
- 1:04:30for real. Yeah. Yeah, I think you guys
- 1:04:34should merch. Honestly, merch would be
- 1:04:36cool. I think you guys could you should
- 1:04:38do that. Have any brands hit you up? We
- 1:04:41got a uh shout out Graza.
- 1:04:44Why did you do that? Uh for very uh I
- 1:04:49guess um everyone's doing Graza. Yeah, I
- 1:04:52guess we didn't shame in that one. Yeah,
- 1:04:54I guess we had some shame in they wanted
- 1:04:55us to do
- 1:04:58they wanted us to do a video game and we
- 1:05:00were a little afraid of doing like of
- 1:05:01like diluting the video game aesthetic
- 1:05:03that we have and like a it takes a while
- 1:05:06and it was a while back. It was like
- 1:05:08right after the bear one. So I was like
- 1:05:10I cannot do another video game. Like if
- 1:05:11you had told us before we could have
- 1:05:13threw some graza in.
- 1:05:17Oh you guys notice it was a kitchen.
- 1:05:18Good job. Yeah. Yeah. Let me make the
- 1:05:21kitchen again. No problem.
- 1:05:23so easy to make the kitchen.
- 1:05:26But I do feel like I don't know with
- 1:05:27some branded stuff I do feel like you do
- 1:05:29get into like a or at least I've seen I
- 1:05:32feel like some you get into you kind of
- 1:05:34back your name names Joe. Yeah. On the
- 1:05:36tip of your tongue. I' It's very
- 1:05:38tempting to do and I would do it, but
- 1:05:41I've I've voiced this complaint many
- 1:05:43times where like I feel like this is
- 1:05:47going to be repetitive for some of you,
- 1:05:48but like it used to be really lucrative
- 1:05:50to be like someone who is in commercial.
- 1:05:52Still is if that's like the way you're
- 1:05:54going if you're like a commercial actor.
- 1:05:56Like you'd get like thousands of
- 1:05:58dollars, you know, to like be in a
- 1:06:00commercial. And now like a company DMs
- 1:06:02you and they're like, "Hey, do you want
- 1:06:04like 500 bucks to like basically make a
- 1:06:06commercial for us for for no money?"
- 1:06:08Like, you know, to make like a little
- 1:06:11lowbudget commercial because you reach
- 1:06:13this many people and instead of us all
- 1:06:16the value, right? So we don't need to
- 1:06:18dump a huge budget into making an ad for
- 1:06:20our product. You we can just reach all
- 1:06:22your audience. Yeah.
- 1:06:25It cheapens It cheapens the the videos.
- 1:06:28Yeah. I don't I don't Everything's a
- 1:06:30little I guess I guess okay I feel two
- 1:06:33ways about where I'm like all right you
- 1:06:35know if you are if you need to pay rent
- 1:06:37totally to sometimes I'm like if you I
- 1:06:39would do it too if you don't need that
- 1:06:42to pay rent then I am like what are you
- 1:06:43doing come on don't do that you know
- 1:06:44what I mean like when somebody's already
- 1:06:46crushing it and then I see them sell out
- 1:06:48I'm like knock it off. You know what I
- 1:06:49mean? Yeah. And it also like if it were
- 1:06:51more money we'd do it. Yeah. Yeah, for
- 1:06:55sure.
- 1:06:57That much money. It's not like, "Oh, are
- 1:06:59we selling out if we do?" It's like It's
- 1:07:00like we're selling out for like Yeah.
- 1:07:01like 500 bucks. I'm trying to sell out.
- 1:07:04It's Yeah, right. They're not making it
- 1:07:06easy. We just sell out. I also do think
- 1:07:09that it matters what the thing is, too.
- 1:07:12And like I don't know. And why? Yeah. I
- 1:07:15don't know. Yeah. Seems like most of the
- 1:07:17little brand deals are harmless enough.
- 1:07:20You know, it's like food and [ __ ] Yeah.
- 1:07:22Yeah. But Volunteer though if you want
- 1:07:25to race on please do a a 3D head of like
- 1:07:29f for their face scanning technology.
- 1:07:31Yeah.
- 1:07:33Also I have Carly and Whitley on as
- 1:07:36well. Both very funny standups and uh
- 1:07:39they're also in the Hotel Art Thief
- 1:07:41sketch uh expanded universe as mentioned
- 1:07:43before. It's true. Joe and Candell are
- 1:07:46the uh Hotel Art Thief. Also Whitley uh
- 1:07:50runs a cool show called Club Video.
- 1:07:53Yeah, where people submit sketches
- 1:07:56if you ever seen me and Cameron's lap
- 1:07:58sketch. That was for club video.
- 1:08:01Sketch. Yeah, that cracked me up. May
- 1:08:0517th. May 17th. You got to buy your
- 1:08:08tickets and come. Yeah, me and Cameron
- 1:08:09got to make sketches again. We made two.
- 1:08:11We made number scrabble, which is I'm
- 1:08:13like I love I'm I'm really happy about
- 1:08:15that one. And then laugh also. I'm
- 1:08:16excited. May 17th. May 17th. It's a good
- 1:08:19time. It'll be a party. Are you doing
- 1:08:21one for club video? No. Maybe I should.
- 1:08:24Is it submissions closed? Too late. I'll
- 1:08:27submit this clip. Hopefully, we're going
- 1:08:30to do some uh maybe more do it more
- 1:08:32regularly. That's what we're hoping that
- 1:08:34you have to come out and buy tickets
- 1:08:36because if we if it goes well, we're in
- 1:08:38a new venue at Silo, which is like a big
- 1:08:40uh electronic music warehouse rave
- 1:08:43space. And if it goes well, then we'll
- 1:08:45probably be able to do more. Nice. Oh,
- 1:08:47hell yes. Got to get the word out. It's
- 1:08:49been packed. It's been
- 1:08:51fooled. So, you got you got a bigger
- 1:08:53space cuz it was full. So, like 220 was
- 1:08:56the most people we ever had at the last
- 1:08:57space. Wow. And the new space can house
- 1:09:00350. Hell
- 1:09:01yeah. Try and do. Yeah. Um, how how
- 1:09:04difficult is that to to put on?
- 1:09:07Um, I mean like we have it so down pat
- 1:09:11now, me and Micah and Marshall, that uh
- 1:09:15it's pretty routine, but I would say it
- 1:09:18is a fair amount of work. Yeah, it seems
- 1:09:20like it cuz Yeah, I feel like it there's
- 1:09:22so much that could go wrong with like a
- 1:09:23video show and I feel like they always
- 1:09:25go pretty smoothly. I feel like this one
- 1:09:28will like actually be a lower lift
- 1:09:30because now they have like real sound
- 1:09:32and a real screen and stuff which we
- 1:09:34used to have to like make in the
- 1:09:35warehouse and set all that up. So that
- 1:09:37was like the big operational lift and
- 1:09:39all the chairs. But besides that, it's
- 1:09:41pretty much just like making all the
- 1:09:42graphics and promo and Micah like
- 1:09:44assembles the show and uh I don't see
- 1:09:48the show until the day it airs which is
- 1:09:50always really fun. Really cool. Yeah, I
- 1:09:52thought there was um there's no like
- 1:09:56wait, who's doing the curatorial
- 1:09:57process? So, the way the submissions
- 1:09:59work is you send just a a piece of work
- 1:10:02that you've made ever before. You don't
- 1:10:04have to send the thing that we're going
- 1:10:05to show. You just have to send us by the
- 1:10:08deadline something that's never
- 1:10:10premiered anywhere else. Um so, a lot of
- 1:10:13them nobody's we haven't seen them.
- 1:10:16Nobody's seen them. So, we just screen
- 1:10:18them. How do you choose the order?
- 1:10:20That's what I said. That's what I
- 1:10:20thought. Michael will choose the order.
- 1:10:22So, Michael will watch that. He'll he'll
- 1:10:24arrange something. It's only Yeah. So,
- 1:10:26that's kind of his Yeah, that's cool.
- 1:10:28domain. Yeah, it's fun. I Yeah, same
- 1:10:31thought. I was like It seemed like they
- 1:10:33were chosen in in an order. Totally.
- 1:10:35Yes. Yes. Micah sees them and puts them
- 1:10:37in an order cuz like I don't know if you
- 1:10:38guys were there for the one where
- 1:10:39Michelle did the Subway sandwich
- 1:10:42chorus. Yeah. basically the whole thing
- 1:10:44of sandwich and there's this big chorus
- 1:10:46of people singing about it and it see it
- 1:10:48was like so awesome and we're like oh no
- 1:10:50nothing's going to top that that's the
- 1:10:51end video and then another video came up
- 1:10:53and everyone was kind of like oh like
- 1:10:54that would have been such a good moment
- 1:10:56but it was uh Joel Straley uh recreating
- 1:11:00all of the um uh what's it called the
- 1:11:04guys that hurt themselves the rock
- 1:11:08um Johnny
- 1:11:11Knoxville so he's
- 1:11:15He had all these uh clips from himself
- 1:11:17in high school doing jackass stuff and
- 1:11:19he recreated it including he uh safety
- 1:11:21pinned his ass cheeks together. Oh yeah.
- 1:11:23So that was the final shot. So that was
- 1:11:25a pretty good like Michael's curatorial
- 1:11:27mind. It was like what could be better
- 1:11:29than this? And it was just like only
- 1:11:32someone together. Wow. Yeah. I remember
- 1:11:36that because I remember we were like
- 1:11:38second or something and we were like oh
- 1:11:40is that like a we because we we felt
- 1:11:42like that was deliberately chosen and we
- 1:11:44were like what's we wonder why but
- 1:11:46chooses bad bad we were like well they
- 1:11:50don't want to start the show bad right
- 1:11:52that's true you got to keep people there
- 1:11:54I think it's like he mostly does it of
- 1:11:56like what's a nice rhythm between all
- 1:11:58the different videos there's no like
- 1:12:01we're amping up to the best video or
- 1:12:03anything like that at least you I don't
- 1:12:05know. Well, I guess and they're all
- 1:12:07good. So, in a larger sense, I give you
- 1:12:09credit for Okay. When people are making
- 1:12:12sketches and stuff, you just kind of a
- 1:12:14lot of the time we're just kind of
- 1:12:15crapping them into the void. You know
- 1:12:17what I mean? So, the to be in a room and
- 1:12:20to see like 120 people look away. Yeah.
- 1:12:26It feels good. React stuff like to react
- 1:12:30to things together. Yes. So Micah ran
- 1:12:32another show called Redhot Video Funtime
- 1:12:34before and it was like smaller but it
- 1:12:36was the same thing basically and that's
- 1:12:38uh that's where I started making videos
- 1:12:40and it really did feel so much better to
- 1:12:42get like yeah real feedback from real
- 1:12:45people and hear everybody gasp and hear
- 1:12:47everybody laugh and it incentivizes the
- 1:12:50good and then and then you then uh you
- 1:12:52edit it based on the live reaction we
- 1:12:55edited lap for what we like oh that joke
- 1:12:58didn't get a lap we cut it oh cool
- 1:13:00that's interesting Interesting.
- 1:13:02That's cool. I think
- 1:13:05um yeah, I mean that's kind of like what
- 1:13:08the whole point is, just to get people
- 1:13:10like actually interacting with each
- 1:13:12other around stuff, which I think has
- 1:13:14been good.
- 1:13:16Reals the show. Reals the show.
- 1:13:21That'd be sick. Yeah. Would you accept a
- 1:13:23brand partnership video?
- 1:13:27Like if the crowd the crowd gets like
- 1:13:28the flags from like Jubilee and if
- 1:13:30enough people put it up, we swipe to the
- 1:13:33next for an hour and a half. Fast
- 1:13:35forward. That's how my brain works. You
- 1:13:38can vote to skip 15 seconds.
- 1:13:42Yeah, we can speed it up.
- 1:13:46Would you guys ever be able to like pop
- 1:13:48the balloon
- 1:13:49if they gave you quite a bit of money?
- 1:13:52They gave me I'm sure they don't. No, it
- 1:13:55was like 10k. I would do it. 10k. Yeah,
- 1:13:59they reached out about Tourette's stuff.
- 1:14:01Jubilee. Really? They wanted me to do
- 1:14:03like They're like, "What if we did one,
- 1:14:05you know, the odd one out? It's like six
- 1:14:07people. One of them doesn't have
- 1:14:09Tourette's." No, I literally I had a
- 1:14:10Zoom call with a guy. I was like I was
- 1:14:12like, "Don't do that, dude." And uh
- 1:14:16we were like, "All right, we're going to
- 1:14:17find somewhere else. Someone else, but
- 1:14:18we're going to do it." Someone chill.
- 1:14:20Can't tell us not to do it. They kept
- 1:14:22they kept reaching out and trying to get
- 1:14:24me to like pitch ideas and I was like,
- 1:14:25"Pay me. I'm not gonna do free labor,
- 1:14:28dude. I don't know." So, if you not hire
- 1:14:30me, then just do one of my ideas. Yeah.
- 1:14:32Yeah. But no, I could have done 20
- 1:14:34people with Tourette's versus one guy
- 1:14:35without Exactly.
- 1:14:44[Music]
- 1:14:45Did you guys see the one that was like
- 1:14:47Sam Cedar and the Yeah. Yeah. Tony
- 1:14:49conservatives. Listen, I'm I'm watching
- 1:14:51these. I think they're bad. I think
- 1:14:53they're bad for society. These people
- 1:14:55are like insane.
- 1:14:57No minds are being changed. No. Yeah.
- 1:15:00Doctor one, the the doctor one, he
- 1:15:02literally said that he like the doctor
- 1:15:04one was crazy cuz they were all like
- 1:15:07really out there antiax people like
- 1:15:10debating him and he was just like so
- 1:15:12nice and calm the whole time. But
- 1:15:14there's one part or there's a clip that
- 1:15:16I saw online, but uh it was
- 1:15:19He just like stopped said what he was
- 1:15:21going to say. He's like, "Is there
- 1:15:22anything I could say right now that
- 1:15:24could possibly change your
- 1:15:26mind?" And then she was like, "Honestly,
- 1:15:28no." Because I like read stuff and I
- 1:15:30like know things. And it's like, "Okay,
- 1:15:32so I think we're done here." Yeah.
- 1:15:35That's so sad. That's truly sad. And
- 1:15:38then uh so so are you guys so you guys
- 1:15:41are consuming these hour and a half long
- 1:15:44content on the 2x. What's that? On the
- 1:15:472x. You got to be 2x. You got to be 2x.
- 1:15:49I'm eating a burrito in bed and 2xing.
- 1:15:51I'm playing Valheim. I'm playing 2xing
- 1:15:53the burrito. Yeah, 2xing the burrito.
- 1:16:00I'm like putting eye drops in my eyes
- 1:16:01and eating a burrito while I do that at
- 1:16:032x. Does Does Jubilee do the ones that
- 1:16:06are like um uh like a bunch of gay guys
- 1:16:11have to decide like if if the next
- 1:16:14person in line is straight or gay? Yeah.
- 1:16:16Yeah. Wait, which one? They're like they
- 1:16:18have like a line of guys and the guy
- 1:16:20like just like says his name, says hi.
- 1:16:22They look at what he's wearing and they
- 1:16:23decide if he's gay or straight. And then
- 1:16:25at the end they reveal. It's a big like
- 1:16:27you can't always judge by the cover. And
- 1:16:31there's another one where it's like
- 1:16:32bodybuilders and then they have to
- 1:16:35like sty
- 1:16:41the blindfolded and they got to be like
- 1:16:43who's who's not a black guy. Yeah. Yeah.
- 1:16:46Yeah. Yeah. Just by voice. Yeah. What
- 1:16:49the hell was Daruski's show? You guys
- 1:16:52ever seen clips from that? I I seen what
- 1:16:55on earth is this? It never really
- 1:16:57auditioning, but I don't know why. I
- 1:16:59think it was like fake auditions. It's
- 1:17:01like vibes. I think so. I feel like it's
- 1:17:04funny that like I kind of like that
- 1:17:05there's like a section of media now
- 1:17:08that's just like uh if you could do a
- 1:17:11play with just for just your friends in
- 1:17:13your basement. Like what if that was on
- 1:17:15TV?
- 1:17:17Like okay, Drew, you pretend to be like
- 1:17:19Diddian making the band. Okay, I'll do
- 1:17:21that. You guys pretend to be the girl.
- 1:17:23Like that level. I think it's also
- 1:17:26supposed to be like what if there was a
- 1:17:27show that was like just like the bad
- 1:17:29American Idol auditions? Like we try to
- 1:17:31get like like crazy delusional people to
- 1:17:34think that they're really auditioning
- 1:17:36for like a record label. Then we go,
- 1:17:37"Haha, no. No, you're not. I hate that.
- 1:17:42Let's make Let's make one right now.
- 1:17:43Let's Let's make a Jubileeesque video.
- 1:17:46We got five liberal cucks. Do they all
- 1:17:50agree
- 1:17:52topic? Everybody
- 1:17:55blindfoldated on a scale of one to five.
- 1:17:58Do you do you hit mics regular or do you
- 1:18:00not?
- 1:18:04Five true open micers and one guy who's
- 1:18:06not about them. One guy who can hang.
- 1:18:11One guy who doesn't know where Pine Box
- 1:18:12is. computer guy. Oh, totally. So, yeah,
- 1:18:15when I'm when I'm telling a joke by
- 1:18:17myself, not in a sketch, I totally have
- 1:18:19a persona.
- 1:18:22I love standing up. I love standing up
- 1:18:24and telling my joke with no props and no
- 1:18:26costume. I love having one beer and
- 1:18:29that's it on like Tuesday. I love
- 1:18:31putting my my name in the bucket.
- 1:18:35And I don't have that in We have that in
- 1:18:37improv. We have that in improv.
- 1:18:42That'll be fun. Real
- 1:18:44micers. Real micers.
- 1:18:47Mike just starts doing a black sand for
- 1:18:49some.
- 1:18:50He's real. He's real. He's real. He's
- 1:18:52real. He says like one word and we're
- 1:18:54like real. Real. He goes to Mike's.
- 1:18:56Yeah. I've heard that joke. Yeah.
- 1:19:04Jubilee. Jubilee. Get in here. We know
- 1:19:06you're following Benny.
- 1:19:09Is that trying to milk him for anything?
- 1:19:12Yeah. I don't think they're following
- 1:19:14me. I think I think they reached out to
- 1:19:16people for Tourette's people and
- 1:19:17somebody submitted me. You're in the
- 1:19:19database. I'm in the database. Yeah.
- 1:19:21What's the weirdest like uh job offer or
- 1:19:23like fake job offer DM that you've
- 1:19:25gotten or real job offer? Yeah. If any.
- 1:19:28Huh. Have people ask you like speak
- 1:19:31sincerely like Oh, for Tourett stuff?
- 1:19:34Yeah. No, typically no. That's not
- 1:19:35really like um Hm. I've got I've gotten
- 1:19:39I've gotten weird podcasts is the pretty
- 1:19:41standard. You know what I mean? People
- 1:19:42be like, "You want to come on and talk
- 1:19:43about this? You want to get in the dunk
- 1:19:45tank?"
- 1:19:47Like uh college interviews I think is a
- 1:19:50common one. Like a student will be like,
- 1:19:52"I'm doing a project." Oh wow. Like have
- 1:19:54you done any? Uh when I was in college I
- 1:19:56did it like some of my friends but not
- 1:19:58now. You know what I mean? But yeah. I'm
- 1:20:00done with that life. Yeah. Me now. Can't
- 1:20:04be talking to children. Broke kids.
- 1:20:07Yeah. You don't have any money. You
- 1:20:08don't have any money.
- 1:20:10Here's the first thing you learn out of
- 1:20:12school. Money talks. Yeah. Get a grant.
- 1:20:15Get some funding.
- 1:20:18I'm going to need you to go back home.
- 1:20:20Get a grant. Get a grant. Come back to
- 1:20:22me. Talk to me.
- 1:20:28Is that the vape? Yeah. Oh [ __ ] Whoa.
- 1:20:31Let me see
- 1:20:33that. That's nice. Whoa.
- 1:20:37That's cool. The other way. That could
- 1:20:38have been you. That could have been me.
- 1:20:39That could have been you. That could
- 1:20:40have been me. Can't focus like that. Oh,
- 1:20:43yeah. Damn. Cool. Can you access the
- 1:20:46button? Yeah, it's on the bottom. Oh,
- 1:20:48whoa.
- 1:20:50Whoa.
- 1:20:51Sorry if I hit it. Oh. Oh, I What do you
- 1:20:55I don't know what I don't into the ghee.
- 1:20:58You're going to vape in karate class.
- 1:21:03Yeah, we were super strict.
- 1:21:08I want to come up with Taekwond do.
- 1:21:11Sorry. Sorry. I wanted to come up with
- 1:21:14go first though. I did taekwond do and
- 1:21:15there was a drive by shooting at our
- 1:21:17taekwond do. Oh my god. And then we were
- 1:21:20like is this useful?
- 1:21:24That's so funny. The black belt like
- 1:21:27runs out. Oh yeah. Pushing all the white
- 1:21:31buttons.
- 1:21:35Guys, what are we doing here?
- 1:21:39Uh, anyways, what are you saying? Let's
- 1:21:41debate a topic. Okay.
- 1:21:44Debaters. Debaters for sure. Yeah. Let's
- 1:21:47see what we got. Let's get Oh, yeah.
- 1:21:49Yeah. Wait, wait, wait, wait. Yeah.
- 1:21:50Okay. Debator. Do you want to be the
- 1:21:51moderator because you're the only
- 1:21:53non-standup? I would love to be a
- 1:21:55moderator. And then we'll get we'll get
- 1:21:57uh human than us. We don't human among
- 1:22:00us four who do standup. We don't we
- 1:22:02don't know what the division is yet, but
- 1:22:06we'll divide ourselves into two camps
- 1:22:08based on some opinion. Boy, are the
- 1:22:10lines going to be drawn. I don't know. I
- 1:22:12don't know. Let's Let's figure out the
- 1:22:14What do we think is a contentious thing
- 1:22:16that we could maybe something in about
- 1:22:18clowning or something? I don't know. Or
- 1:22:20props. How good clowns live? Props.
- 1:22:28I don't know. Um What do you think will
- 1:22:32be a genuinely divisive topic? Um,
- 1:22:37re regional accents.
- 1:22:39Lazy, not lazy. Fun.
- 1:22:44That's just good. Good spitball. Good
- 1:22:46spitball. I have zero opinion on that.
- 1:22:49Zero opinion. Yeah.
- 1:22:52What's Anything been dicey
- 1:22:55lately? Anything been dicey? Comedy
- 1:22:58world.
- 1:23:02I mean
- 1:23:05like race and gender have been pretty
- 1:23:07good lately. Yeah, they've been pretty
- 1:23:09nice. Yeah. You guys want to debate race
- 1:23:11and gender? Yeah, that's the topic will
- 1:23:14be race.
- 1:23:17Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Race versus gender.
- 1:23:20Gender.
- 1:23:23Which one's more Which one Which one's
- 1:23:25more important? Which one's more real?
- 1:23:28This one's more real. New constructs
- 1:23:31enter.
- 1:23:32Zero leave. Zero leave.
- 1:23:40Um I mean I feel like there's kind of a
- 1:23:42trend of like
- 1:23:44uh is this reality? You know what I
- 1:23:47mean? Like it's not necessarily a joke.
- 1:23:49It's just like people can't tell if this
- 1:23:51is reality or not. Give do you want to
- 1:23:54give an example? No.
- 1:23:56Fair enough. stand up hottake. None is
- 1:23:59none of this is like I guess this is I
- 1:24:01guess this is not standup. It's
- 1:24:04generally common. Yeah. Like irony
- 1:24:05poisoning to the point where it's like
- 1:24:06oh I don't know even know if there's
- 1:24:08like a satire here. It's just like this
- 1:24:10is a thing that's not true and like
- 1:24:13Yeah. You know my ass has an opinion in
- 1:24:15that space. So do you guys have do you
- 1:24:16guys have a disagreeing opinion? Does
- 1:24:19anybody I think I'm probably in the same
- 1:24:20boat as Willie where it's just like oh
- 1:24:23okay that's not true. I feel like, oh,
- 1:24:26okay. And like the most I could get mad
- 1:24:28about is like it's just adding to the
- 1:24:30global level of insanity of like people
- 1:24:33not being able to tell what's fake or
- 1:24:35real, but it is kind of like, oh, is
- 1:24:37there a joke or is it just that this is
- 1:24:40not that you are lying? Totally. Yeah.
- 1:24:44Mhm. We all and we're all in agreement.
- 1:24:47I will I think there's a lot of
- 1:24:49different people doing versions of that
- 1:24:51or even like like those like you know
- 1:24:53super ubiquitous like man on the street
- 1:24:55question videos and stuff like those are
- 1:24:57all all staged at this point. Yeah. Um
- 1:25:00but I think they're everything is meant
- 1:25:02to seem like spontaneous and and real.
- 1:25:05This is scripted. Yeah. Yeah. This is
- 1:25:07scripted. We're all doing a really good
- 1:25:09job. The street ones are bad. They're
- 1:25:10not bad. They're all amazing and I love
- 1:25:12them. But when they're like that, I
- 1:25:15don't like it's like I know it's fake
- 1:25:16and I know it's a joke. And seeing
- 1:25:18someone be bad at being like pretending
- 1:25:20to take their airbud out. It's like uh
- 1:25:23all right. I don't know. This feels like
- 1:25:25condescending. You're like that's not
- 1:25:27who you are. You're not that anxious or
- 1:25:30you're not really like that. It's like
- 1:25:32to uh I do feel like we do it sometimes
- 1:25:36a little bit. No, we don't. But I where
- 1:25:39we we do some because I was thinking
- 1:25:41about this the like the same thing. It's
- 1:25:43like is this funny or is this just
- 1:25:44lying? Yeah. And it's like because there
- 1:25:47are people sometimes in our you know
- 1:25:48comments being like this I thought this
- 1:25:50was real but usually we try to do a
- 1:25:52fools. Yeah. Usually in usually escalate
- 1:25:57to a place usually we for our first like
- 1:25:5810 seconds we'll do that of like Yeah.
- 1:26:00But you guys get to a a weird enough
- 1:26:02Yeah. For sure. For sure. You're like
- 1:26:03joking about a recognizable thing.
- 1:26:05Totally. I think there is a level of
- 1:26:07like everyone's doing stuff that's not
- 1:26:09true. It's like absurd or it's like
- 1:26:12exaggerated. I'm just saying like I
- 1:26:14think there's a point where you're
- 1:26:14losing like but it's not like to make
- 1:26:17any point like this is just a fake
- 1:26:19thing. It's just to go viral like it's
- 1:26:22like purely for the monetization of
- 1:26:25views. Yeah. It's like I don't know like
- 1:26:29I don't know. Can I here can I tell you
- 1:26:31my I've got this is a pet peeve. I hate
- 1:26:34everybody's doing [ __ ] uh quirky
- 1:26:37voice. You know what I mean? Quirky
- 1:26:38voice. Do an example. Do a line of
- 1:26:40quirky.
- 1:26:44It's like a heavy Chinese. I noticed a
- 1:26:47weird quirky voice kind of like um you
- 1:26:51know what I mean? Kind of like Yeah.
- 1:26:52There's a level of like like pretending
- 1:26:55to do comedy kind of doing comedy bad
- 1:26:58but like an impression of being an
- 1:27:00awkward person. pretending to be a
- 1:27:02certain type of awkward person, but I'd
- 1:27:03never meet that person in real life.
- 1:27:05Everybody's just doing a simulation of
- 1:27:07that same caricature. Yeah. Where
- 1:27:09they're like, uh, like the the weird
- 1:27:11friend, dude, XYZ. You know what I mean?
- 1:27:13Do you guys remember? This is definitely
- 1:27:15not the name. Gerbles.
- 1:27:18I do. Weird stand up.
- 1:27:22There's some person who was like doing a
- 1:27:26little I'm doing a little voice and I'm
- 1:27:27a little gremlin and I do this and they
- 1:27:29got kind of like their ass handed to
- 1:27:31them by the full internet of like cringe
- 1:27:34loser. I hate this for Do you know the I
- 1:27:38remember this. It's not Gerbles, but it
- 1:27:39is something like that. It's a young
- 1:27:41lady. Yeah, I know. I know what you're
- 1:27:42talking about. Young woman. I don't
- 1:27:44Yeah. Oh, yes. Yes. Yes. I I No, no, no.
- 1:27:46It was like a maybe there's a couple
- 1:27:48people that's had this happen. But then
- 1:27:49it's like but then people do that voice
- 1:27:51making fun of them but then it becomes
- 1:27:52their whole character and then they're
- 1:27:54doing every video like that and it's
- 1:27:55like but aren't are you just like now
- 1:27:57kind of doing that voice cuz it's funny
- 1:27:59cuz that's what they said in the first
- 1:28:00place. Well, I think and this is a
- 1:28:02little like ungenerous but I think it's
- 1:28:04like if you know your idea isn't that
- 1:28:06strong then like being like what if I
- 1:28:10said this is easier than just like
- 1:28:12saying the joke. Like, wouldn't it be
- 1:28:15crazy if I said this thing that's not
- 1:28:16really funny? Yeah. Who would say that?
- 1:28:19Yeah. My big issue with Yeah. Like, my
- 1:28:22big issue with like satire or a lot of
- 1:28:25irony stuff that's like that and that
- 1:28:26that doesn't like kind of go to a weird
- 1:28:28place with you guys is you're just uh
- 1:28:30looking at a flawed behavior and just
- 1:28:32copying it. You're just going, I'm like
- 1:28:35that guy. And we're all supposed to go
- 1:28:36like, ah, yes, that's wrong. You know
- 1:28:38what I mean? Yeah. I don't know. But
- 1:28:39you're just like being like that guy's
- 1:28:41that person is weird and like there's no
- 1:28:44joke writing element. It's just like
- 1:28:45totally you know what I mean? Weird guy.
- 1:28:49Yeah. I feel like that's pretty good. We
- 1:28:51should let's collab. Let's collab.
- 1:28:54I feel like there's a similar thing with
- 1:28:56in like online and like sketch comedy of
- 1:28:59just like you're not making a joke.
- 1:29:02You're just
- 1:29:03you're you're saying like this is you're
- 1:29:05like copying something and you're being
- 1:29:07Yeah. You're doing it ironically and
- 1:29:09making fun of it ostensibly, but it's
- 1:29:11like but you're not actually you don't
- 1:29:13have any jokes. You're kind of not
- 1:29:15holding up your end of the bargain cuz
- 1:29:16you're just like making more of the
- 1:29:18thing. Yeah. Exactly. Commentary or any
- 1:29:22perspective to this. Yeah. Yeah. And
- 1:29:24that's what it feels like a little bit
- 1:29:25of people just like and maybe because
- 1:29:27the churn of content is so quick, but
- 1:29:29people who are like pointing at
- 1:29:32things but they don't have any like
- 1:29:34perspective on it. So, they're just sort
- 1:29:36of like
- 1:29:37doing something crazy and maybe are in
- 1:29:40the news. What can I do? Yeah. Like a
- 1:29:44like a Trump impression is just a Trump
- 1:29:46impression and you're like,
- 1:29:49"Sorry, is that Sorry, I didn't mean No.
- 1:29:51Yeah. I mean, yeah. Or anything where
- 1:29:54it's just like there's a funny
- 1:30:00That's reinforcing good
- 1:30:02behavior. Trump impression. You're just
- 1:30:05lying. Mike, you're just lying. Well,
- 1:30:07you didn't actually add anything to the
- 1:30:09conversation. That might get this I
- 1:30:10wonder if that'll get this flagged on
- 1:30:12YouTube as
- 1:30:15the best part is the podcast of the
- 1:30:16month. You have to blur it
- 1:30:19out accurate. Uh Angel Benny just cuts
- 1:30:22this up heavily and it's just me holding
- 1:30:24this up and saying Trump is awesome.
- 1:30:27That's all that remains.
- 1:30:29Get you doing a one of those the soy
- 1:30:31faces.
- 1:30:32[Laughter]
- 1:30:37Why? Why do you not do standup? I'm
- 1:30:39curious if that will give us an insight
- 1:30:41as to moderation with you. Yeah. Um
- 1:30:45yeah, I guess I never I did it a I've
- 1:30:48done it a few times or more than a few
- 1:30:50times since I've moved to New York and I
- 1:30:52never like fell in love with it, I
- 1:30:54guess. And I I mean my first
- 1:30:55introduction to comedy was like doing
- 1:30:57sketch in college. not my first
- 1:30:59introduction, but that was like the
- 1:31:00first stuff that I wrote. And I just
- 1:31:02have more fun
- 1:31:05um doing stuff with like multiple people
- 1:31:07on stage, I guess, or like creating uh I
- 1:31:12guess that's just how I write jokes and
- 1:31:13like how I how funny things come to me
- 1:31:15is like from a more visual and like that
- 1:31:17doesn't reflect reflect back to us.
- 1:31:22Not at all. Or I I I guess I just have a
- 1:31:24tough time uh I just never I guess found
- 1:31:26my voice. Oh, interesting. Yeah. Do you
- 1:31:29feel like you're finding it now though
- 1:31:30with the sketch? Definitely. Definitely.
- 1:31:32I mean, but it's like a a sketch voice.
- 1:31:34Yeah. I would have a tough time figuring
- 1:31:36out how to transition into If I killed
- 1:31:38Mike, I guess.
- 1:31:40Yeah. I mean, I guess I could do that.
- 1:31:44That's pretty good.
- 1:31:46You know, I Okay. Uh, if we can't I'll
- 1:31:49do maybe we'll do hot takes. I feel like
- 1:31:50we just heard Whitley's hot take. You
- 1:31:52know what I mean? Is that people are
- 1:31:54Let's get hotter. Let's get hotter.
- 1:31:57Yeah, the show with even hotter and
- 1:32:02uh the can we'll go down the line. Just
- 1:32:06a hot take. Hot take. Candle or Carly,
- 1:32:09whoever has one first. Don't burn your
- 1:32:11Subway take for when you get asked. No,
- 1:32:12no, no, no. Don't burn your Subway take
- 1:32:15for comedy specific. Oh, for comedy. Oh,
- 1:32:17hot take. All right. Um I mean this
- 1:32:20one's not. This one's lukewarm, maybe.
- 1:32:22What the hell is [ __ ] won't burn
- 1:32:24your hot take on my show in case you do
- 1:32:26subway takes. What the hell? Sorry, that
- 1:32:29was my first instinct. You've got one
- 1:32:30ready to go in the barrel. Sorry. I
- 1:32:33think um that it's good to look nice on
- 1:32:39stage. You know what I mean? I don't
- 1:32:41think it takes anything away from your
- 1:32:43comedy if you like try to like look nice
- 1:32:47and dress like you're going to be in
- 1:32:49front of people. Oh, sure. To uh Yes. To
- 1:32:53what degree are we talking nice? Like
- 1:32:54are we saying like um like you'd like
- 1:32:57dress cool even? I think that benefits
- 1:32:59some people like you're going to a party
- 1:33:02or whatever. Yeah. Like you're you are
- 1:33:04out. You're probably at a bar. It's
- 1:33:07probably night time.
- 1:33:09Listening. Yeah. I would add to that.
- 1:33:12There's like it's okay to also look like
- 1:33:15interesting on stage instead of just
- 1:33:17wearing like I don't know. I I think
- 1:33:19there's like an idea that you have to
- 1:33:21wear something really boring. Yeah. I
- 1:33:24mean, or like that's you have to dress
- 1:33:25like a stand up guy, you know? It's
- 1:33:28like, oh, you're an entertainer, but you
- 1:33:29have to be the most normal looking next
- 1:33:31door. It's like, buddy, we're going to
- 1:33:33believe that you have a bunch of
- 1:33:34roommates and your life sucks. Even if
- 1:33:36you're like wearing your nice sweater,
- 1:33:41you know, it might even make you more
- 1:33:43confident. You know, I think like
- 1:33:46wearing, you know, a a nice outfit
- 1:33:49probably makes you act differently.
- 1:33:51Yeah, that's my hot take. Lukewarm take.
- 1:33:54I like that. No, that's one that I'm
- 1:33:55going to that I'm going to think about
- 1:33:56because I feel like I do dress boring
- 1:33:58and I'm going to be like, let me try to
- 1:33:59go a little more. You don't have to
- 1:34:00dress not like yourself, but No, but No,
- 1:34:02but no, no, no, she just called you
- 1:34:04boring. No, I'm just saying you don't
- 1:34:06have to like whatever.
- 1:34:10No, but I am I am doing the deliberate
- 1:34:13like trying to dress neutral so there's
- 1:34:16no distractions. But I kind of like what
- 1:34:18you're saying where it's like distract a
- 1:34:20little. Yeah. That's fun. Yeah. And also
- 1:34:23what's neutral?
- 1:34:25Like maybe that's distracting.
- 1:34:27Everything beige and then a zip hoodie.
- 1:34:30Yeah. Yeah. How your dress should inform
- 1:34:33or be informed by the things you want to
- 1:34:35do and say on stage. Yes. And should
- 1:34:38elevate it. your set list on your shirt.
- 1:34:40Yeah. Yeah. It's upside down so you can
- 1:34:42read it on your arms. I guess. Yeah.
- 1:34:45Like if you're a character, it should be
- 1:34:46I think I guess what I'm saying is like
- 1:34:48what's neutral? It's like if you're kind
- 1:34:49of a character like why can't your how
- 1:34:51you dress be an extension of that and
- 1:34:54like everyone's character is not like
- 1:34:56average guy, you know? For sure. Yeah.
- 1:35:00Yeah. What's your take?
- 1:35:03[Music]
- 1:35:06Have one yet in the barrel. think
- 1:35:08whoever has one I guess can go next.
- 1:35:10I've got one ready if uh I think that uh
- 1:35:14if you're booked on a show uh you should
- 1:35:17not agree to do like you should only
- 1:35:19ever do one show a night. I think it's
- 1:35:21psycho when people do multiple spots.
- 1:35:24It's like stay like if you're booked on
- 1:35:26a show stay and hang out and watch
- 1:35:28everybody's sets and meet everybody.
- 1:35:30I think to a certain extent that's I
- 1:35:33mean if you're on a show at like seven
- 1:35:34and another show at like 9:30 that could
- 1:35:37be that would be good. That's that Yeah,
- 1:35:38I should I should clarify. You should
- 1:35:40not um be running around doing spots
- 1:35:43because it's not about just the spot.
- 1:35:46It's about the hang. The hang is as
- 1:35:49important. And have you ever had a night
- 1:35:51where you've done like two or three
- 1:35:52spots and you're it's like a whirlwind
- 1:35:54and you're exhausted and you're like wow
- 1:35:56like I was so frazzled and you bombed
- 1:35:59almost all of those and that was like
- 1:36:01totally
- 1:36:02pointless spent a bunch of money by
- 1:36:04Yeah. Yeah. You didn't make any
- 1:36:06connection. You weren't socializing. You
- 1:36:08just like leaving. And this is also it's
- 1:36:10a little bit of a flipped thing where
- 1:36:12like I just uh not to name names, but
- 1:36:15there's like somebody that I've done
- 1:36:17multiple shows with and they always ask
- 1:36:19to go early so they can do more spots
- 1:36:21and leave and they've never seen my set
- 1:36:23and then we're like not friends cuz we
- 1:36:25never chat and they don't stay and I'm
- 1:36:27like
- 1:36:29Bradford and I'm like I'm like we would
- 1:36:31be friends by now if you stayed for the
- 1:36:33shows that we've been on together. You
- 1:36:34know what I mean? Even when I ask to go
- 1:36:36early I always watch whoever's after me.
- 1:36:38M I try to. Yeah, I try. Unless I really
- 1:36:41have to leave. Do you guys disagree with
- 1:36:42my hot take? No, I think that's nice.
- 1:36:45Yeah, for sure. It's nice. It's nice to
- 1:36:48participate. I think definitely to like
- 1:36:49watch, you know, not just come do your
- 1:36:52thing and leave. Yeah, for sure. But
- 1:36:54yeah, the nice but also I do think there
- 1:36:57is a selfish element as well of like
- 1:37:00networking is genuinely a major part of
- 1:37:03it. You know what I mean? Uh and by
- 1:37:06networking I mean making real lasting
- 1:37:08connections and friendships mushrooms
- 1:37:10are a network
- 1:37:13actually. Yeah. Oh sure. Yeah. Totally.
- 1:37:15Business the substructure of the entire
- 1:37:18ecosystem.
- 1:37:20Yeah. And and we've I mean we've all had
- 1:37:22moments where you feel disappointed that
- 1:37:24like someone that you think is really
- 1:37:25funny or cool didn't see your set. And
- 1:37:27I'm sure people have felt that way about
- 1:37:30maybe us if we leave for sure. For sure.
- 1:37:32So, and you might just discover someone
- 1:37:34who's really only push back I would give
- 1:37:35is just like I don't know sometimes
- 1:37:37you're just trying to do more shows
- 1:37:39tummy hurts. Okay. But okay, but here's
- 1:37:41my Okay. I'm not doing that all the
- 1:37:42time. Most times I left it was just cuz
- 1:37:44I didn't want to be there. Yeah. You
- 1:37:47don't always want to network. If you
- 1:37:49don't respect them, that's valid. If you
- 1:37:50don't like the people or the vibe, but I
- 1:37:52um can I double can I double my hot
- 1:37:55take? I'm uh double or nothing is that I
- 1:37:58uh give it to the next person.
- 1:38:00person. I don't believe in stage time
- 1:38:04culture. I don't think that doing a lot
- 1:38:06of stage time is necessary or good. You
- 1:38:10know what I mean? I think it's qu I
- 1:38:11think it's quality, not quantity. So, I
- 1:38:13think like if you do one set and really
- 1:38:15sit with it for a week, that's better
- 1:38:16than doing three sets every night for a
- 1:38:19month. I think a lot of people who do
- 1:38:21believe in like constant stage time like
- 1:38:24are the kind of people who would never
- 1:38:28learn their lesson. You know what I
- 1:38:30mean? Like I think someone who will
- 1:38:32never accept that they're like maybe not
- 1:38:34super funny. Like getting a tempered
- 1:38:37reaction three times a night is
- 1:38:39obviously not stopping them, right? So
- 1:38:42that's maybe the kind of person who will
- 1:38:44keep doing that. Yeah. The grinding.
- 1:38:47Yes. Yes. I think the grime culture is
- 1:38:49bad and that has to do with spot
- 1:38:50culture. I think it's like more useful
- 1:38:52when you're starting out and then you
- 1:38:54get to a point where you kind of have
- 1:38:56better sensibilities and you know maybe
- 1:38:58what's going to be funny and you can try
- 1:38:59it out on stage one time, right? So I
- 1:39:02guess like it's partially that of like
- 1:39:03how far you get to, but when you're
- 1:39:05starting out it's like are you running
- 1:39:06around doing spots? You know what I
- 1:39:08mean? Maybe maybe mics, you know what I
- 1:39:10mean? Makes versus spots. Yeah. And also
- 1:39:14like if you write down a joke in your
- 1:39:16notebook and you're like I have to go
- 1:39:18try this at Mike's because I have no
- 1:39:20idea if this is funny. It's like well
- 1:39:22you kind of should know. That's true.
- 1:39:24That's true.
- 1:39:27Find out. Yeah. No, I think that's
- 1:39:29interesting. Yeah. And I'm passing the
- 1:39:31the take ball.
- 1:39:34Who's going to take the tape?
- 1:39:39You have to eat that now. Yeah, you got
- 1:39:40to eat that whole thing. The last dab.
- 1:39:43I'm going to put the hat on. Put on the
- 1:39:44hat on the on the
- 1:39:47sculpture on that sculpture. Oh, that
- 1:39:50hat looks nice. Wait, combine them.
- 1:39:51Let's combine them all briefly. That's a
- 1:39:53nice super organism. Yes, that's cool.
- 1:39:57Okay, here's a hot take. If you're uh
- 1:40:00nothing, this is two hot takes. One, if
- 1:40:03you're making the flyers, just ask
- 1:40:06people for a photo that they like of
- 1:40:09themselves. Yep. No, don't pick a bad
- 1:40:12one and don't scroll through their
- 1:40:14Instagram and find something that is
- 1:40:16clearly not meant to promote like a
- 1:40:19picture of them at the beach and put
- 1:40:21that as the flyer. And then the second
- 1:40:24part, make your flyers look good at all.
- 1:40:29Yeah. Make the names readable. Put the
- 1:40:32names on it. I've had people make show
- 1:40:34posters where it's like you have to
- 1:40:36click to the tagged names and it's like
- 1:40:39that's what makes people come to certain
- 1:40:41shows. It's like who's on it. I was
- 1:40:43fully agreeing with you and I still do
- 1:40:45but a part of it I never thought of is
- 1:40:47when you said the beach pictures that
- 1:40:49feels creepy in a gendered way and I
- 1:40:50never thought about that. Totally. When
- 1:40:51someone just goes on or goes into your
- 1:40:53tagged photos, not even your grid
- 1:40:55photos, they're like kind of fingering
- 1:40:58through your Instagram for a picture. I
- 1:41:00I've had that's felt weird to me where
- 1:41:02they've pulled an old photo. Uh but I
- 1:41:05haven't thought of that second layer of
- 1:41:07and it's you at like a scantily clad
- 1:41:10photo or something. Just a picture of me
- 1:41:13in in a costume I made of me as a
- 1:41:15strawberry for Halloween. It's like do
- 1:41:17you think this is going to be what's
- 1:41:19happening? It's like well she's being
- 1:41:21funny advertising. It's funniest I've
- 1:41:23ever seen a baby.
- 1:41:26This is a strawberry. Yeah. They're
- 1:41:27always doing the petting. It's like
- 1:41:29whatever the most recent petting zoo
- 1:41:30photo on my Instagram account is. It's
- 1:41:32like always you snake. The snake.
- 1:41:37Bring the snake. Yeah. Like without the
- 1:41:41context. Yeah. You're just a badass
- 1:41:43snake guy that also does. And it it
- 1:41:46should work the same way as like asking
- 1:41:47for someone's credits where like you
- 1:41:49don't look in someone's Instagram bio
- 1:41:51for their credits. So like just ask me
- 1:41:53to send a picture for the for the flyer
- 1:41:56if you need it. One time I turned on the
- 1:41:58I on my website I turned on the
- 1:41:59automatic blog feature and it just
- 1:42:01created this like thing the page that
- 1:42:03says blog and then I did a show and
- 1:42:05somebody's like check out his
- 1:42:08blog I do not have a blog and they're
- 1:42:11like it's on your website and I was like
- 1:42:13that's not why would you
- 1:42:16I didn't read it all. I saw a blog blog
- 1:42:19we'll put it in. That's a good take.
- 1:42:22Good take that a good sound. Was that
- 1:42:23two? You said you had two. Was that? Oh,
- 1:42:25just make them look good. Oh, just make
- 1:42:26them look good. Yeah, I think overall
- 1:42:28the taste levels could be
- 1:42:31Yeah. risen. But that is that's like
- 1:42:33that's related to the It's just in
- 1:42:35general where it's like make your people
- 1:42:36should make their jokes funnier. You
- 1:42:38know what I mean? It's like taste in
- 1:42:39general should be better. Sure. Sure.
- 1:42:41Sure. Yeah. We got a hot take deficit
- 1:42:44over in this zone. We got Well, like
- 1:42:46Carly said, like looking good too is a
- 1:42:49similar thing of like what if this was
- 1:42:51all slightly better? Yeah.
- 1:42:55For sure.
- 1:42:58You got one. You know, I knew Mike was
- 1:42:59whispering me a really spicy taste right
- 1:43:01now. Oh, yeah.
- 1:43:05I
- 1:43:07think I ain't got nothing. I'm trying to
- 1:43:10think of stuff that we complain about.
- 1:43:12Oh, I This is all the same general
- 1:43:14complaint we're all circling around, but
- 1:43:17on stage, people trying hard. It's like
- 1:43:20know all the words you're going to say
- 1:43:23or if you know if you want to improv and
- 1:43:25be loose like know where you're going
- 1:43:27and like even at an open mic you can
- 1:43:30know what you're going to do. It's only
- 1:43:31three minutes. You can
- 1:43:34It's three minutes. I've been waiting
- 1:43:36all day for this. How about make it
- 1:43:38count? Yeah. I I was going to say
- 1:43:41similar thing of um I feel like
- 1:43:44comedians all comedians standups would
- 1:43:46benefit from acting classes. I think
- 1:43:48acting interesting. I think I gotta say
- 1:43:50I gotta say you not a stand-up saying
- 1:43:52this does make me really bristle.
- 1:43:55I am like no the first one I've
- 1:43:57disagreed with.
- 1:44:00[ __ ] I'm like no no no no get out of
- 1:44:02here with that. You don't have to.
- 1:44:06Yeah. And then the next time being like
- 1:44:08performative like Yeah. Yeah. Not like
- 1:44:12rocking back and forth like with both
- 1:44:14hands in your hoodie like a baby. Maybe
- 1:44:16that would be good. No, no, no. I I I I
- 1:44:18I validate it and sorry. You're either
- 1:44:22rocking snapping your rubber band or
- 1:44:23you're like a theater kid who has like
- 1:44:26Yeah. It's like I feel like that I did
- 1:44:29this like that's also bad. Like just be
- 1:44:31a person. I think it's Stanniski has a
- 1:44:34book. I think it's him opens it where
- 1:44:35it's like some people are volcanoes or
- 1:44:37something. People are icebergs and they
- 1:44:39need different advice. So there's like
- 1:44:40two ends of that. I feel like Yeah, I
- 1:44:42feel like the the Yeah, there's
- 1:44:45like people think that acting classes is
- 1:44:47like becoming a theater kid or becoming
- 1:44:49like like But it's just like helps you
- 1:44:51be confident and like express yourself a
- 1:44:54little bit. No, totally. I think you I
- 1:44:56think that's totally good in I think uh
- 1:44:58my only disagreement with the take is I
- 1:45:00think that uh I think there's a lot of
- 1:45:02people I think it would benefit a lot of
- 1:45:04people, but I don't think everybody Oh,
- 1:45:07that's my that's my that's my one. Like
- 1:45:10what what uh Yeah. But yes, good.
- 1:45:12Michael was saying like sometimes it's
- 1:45:14like what if there were some jokes here?
- 1:45:16Yeah. What if there were some jokes
- 1:45:18involved in this? For sure. They should
- 1:45:19take my joke writing class. That's what
- 1:45:21they should take.
- 1:45:23Wow. This has all been vertical
- 1:45:25integration.
- 1:45:28We're We've been tricked into doing a
- 1:45:30commercial for our friend. Oh my god.
- 1:45:34Mike's on it
- 1:45:36a lift.
- 1:45:42You've been bugged.
- 1:45:44Go with the party. You've been bugged.
- 1:45:46More props in sketch comedy. We've been
- 1:45:48bringing that back.
- 1:45:50I feel like you told that said that one
- 1:45:52at one point that prop comedy is is gets
- 1:45:54a bad rap. Or prop comedy gets a bad
- 1:45:56rap. Absolutely. Yes. And I I agree with
- 1:45:58that. I didn't want to Why shouldn't I
- 1:46:00have a big hammer?
- 1:46:02It's good to do object work and stuff,
- 1:46:04but like it's better if you have the
- 1:46:06object. Yeah.
- 1:46:08Yeah, especially if the object's in said
- 1:46:10broke boys stay out.
- 1:46:16But I think I think like um the part of
- 1:46:18the take I said before is like Julio
- 1:46:20Torres uh just calls his props shapes
- 1:46:23and is doing incredible prop comedy. You
- 1:46:26know what I mean? And people are like,
- 1:46:27"Oh, totally." You know what I mean?
- 1:46:29Yes.
- 1:46:30Agreed.
- 1:46:32You ever seen um I think it was maybe
- 1:46:34like a a a JFL or a Comedy Central. It
- 1:46:38was it's pretty it's pretty old clip
- 1:46:40where Kristen Shawl is like doing um
- 1:46:43she's like, "Oh, I just auditioned for
- 1:46:44Law and Order SVU. Like, do you want to
- 1:46:46see it?" Everyone's like, "Yeah, yeah."
- 1:46:48and she goes like in her bag and pulls
- 1:46:50out like a a grocery store like 12pack
- 1:46:53of glazed donuts and then she like opens
- 1:46:56them and she does like this her half of
- 1:46:58the audition where like detectives are
- 1:47:00asking her if she like um it was like
- 1:47:02her friend who got like you know
- 1:47:04kidnapped or whatever and she's crying
- 1:47:06and like eating all of them like while
- 1:47:08she's like explaining like where she
- 1:47:10last saw her. It's so funny. That's so
- 1:47:13good. That's great. It rocks. It's
- 1:47:15really funny. She was a great part of
- 1:47:17the like 20 mid 2010s all comedy for
- 1:47:22sure. Totally of the concords. Big time.
- 1:47:25Yeah. And she was set up real well for
- 1:47:27that like indie animation boom cuz she
- 1:47:29is such a freak voice. Yeah. I mean
- 1:47:32she's in like every every animated
- 1:47:34thing. Everything, you know. She's got a
- 1:47:36house. Oh yeah. Come on. She's got a
- 1:47:38house. I feel like it would be funny to
- 1:47:40see her in a like standoff with Miranda
- 1:47:43July.
- 1:47:44[Laughter]
- 1:47:46Yeah, they coordinated. Kristen Miranda,
- 1:47:50is that the red lipstick person? Like
- 1:47:53she just has like has curly hair. She
- 1:47:55did um Yumi and everyone, you know, she
- 1:47:57directed that. Bunch of books. First
- 1:47:59Batman. She's kind of like just like an
- 1:48:01indie film darling type. Yeah. Don't
- 1:48:04know, but just similar. They look kind
- 1:48:06of the same. You're thinking Miranda
- 1:48:08says
- 1:48:10Miranda
- 1:48:11says Miranda Sings. Yeah, she was on
- 1:48:15comedian. I'm like I was like who the
- 1:48:17[ __ ] is this? That's how I discovered
- 1:48:19her was on Comedians and Cars getting
- 1:48:21coffee and it's like what is that the
- 1:48:23woman with the ukulele who was a creep?
- 1:48:26Yeah.
- 1:48:28Representation female pervert. That's
- 1:48:31true. That's true.
- 1:48:34Can do it too. Women can be comedians.
- 1:48:37[Laughter]
- 1:48:39Famous perverts. You see like who they
- 1:48:42just get Russell Brand. They got his
- 1:48:44ass. They got his ass. They did like a
- 1:48:46sting. Did they actually get him? He got
- 1:48:49charges or some [ __ ] like that. Charged.
- 1:48:50It's for a rape that was pretty old. Oh,
- 1:48:54an assault. Oh, so she was of age.
- 1:48:56Sorry. She was pretty old. Sorry. A long
- 1:48:59time ago. Pun on the word in the UK.
- 1:49:02Okay. An old rape. But it's it's
- 1:49:06interesting where it's like uh I don't
- 1:49:08know like there's these people with big
- 1:49:10allegations like whoever the [ __ ] and
- 1:49:12then they're not in jail. You know what
- 1:49:15I mean? Yeah. You got the wrong that's
- 1:49:18going to go in be everyone. Like Cosby's
- 1:49:20out now. You know what I mean?
- 1:49:23Technicality. It's true. But what's the
- 1:49:26technicality? I don't remember. Okay.
- 1:49:28Here's a hot take. Giddy's out. Here's a
- 1:49:30hot take. If you think someone is
- 1:49:31genuinely evil, you can disconnect from
- 1:49:34them. I don't have anyone like that. I
- 1:49:37It's just like I feel like people would
- 1:49:38be like, "Oh, this person has all these
- 1:49:40allegations, blah blah blah blah blah."
- 1:49:41But then they just don't want to like
- 1:49:43disconnect from them. Yeah. And I feel
- 1:49:45like that's just interesting. By
- 1:49:48disconnect, you mean like no longer
- 1:49:49engage with them. Just unfollow them at
- 1:49:51least. You're just like, why are we all
- 1:49:54following this person we think is a
- 1:49:56monster? Well, hate hate following is
- 1:49:59certainly a thing that we've all
- 1:50:00enjoyed,
- 1:50:01[Music]
- 1:50:02I guess. Yeah,
- 1:50:04but I Yeah, I mean, even if you like you
- 1:50:07don't even have to unfollow them, but I
- 1:50:08guess it's just like sometimes it feels
- 1:50:10like
- 1:50:11people feel the need to maintain
- 1:50:14connections with people. I just feel
- 1:50:15like you got to walk whatever your talk
- 1:50:17is. So, if your talk is like this
- 1:50:19person's pure evil and they're so so
- 1:50:22wrong, then yeah, un unfollow them. get
- 1:50:25them out of your life. But if that's not
- 1:50:28your your talk, then you know, who
- 1:50:30cares? Just chilling. Here's a new hot
- 1:50:33take. And and maybe and maybe I'll de
- 1:50:37scenify it. We'll take it from whatever
- 1:50:40localized abstraction. So there's this
- 1:50:42astronaut with a bunch of allegations.
- 1:50:45Yeah. And I'm going to go larger and not
- 1:50:48necessarily allegation guys, but all the
- 1:50:49like conservative grifter scene because
- 1:50:51I want to talk about evil a little bit.
- 1:50:53I guess evil I shouldn't have said evil.
- 1:50:55That was too strong. Well, because I've
- 1:50:56been like I don't know.
- 1:50:59Okay. Okay. I've been thinking about
- 1:51:01this a lot. I think about this [ __ ] all
- 1:51:03the time cuz those guys are ruining
- 1:51:05society and also in our art form. You
- 1:51:07know what I mean? Um but I've been
- 1:51:09thinking I'm like I don't know if
- 1:51:11they're evil or if they're like just
- 1:51:16genuinely just uh stupid but selfish in
- 1:51:21a way where they don't care. I think
- 1:51:23that what is evil evil? I don't know.
- 1:51:24Yeah, I think evil could equal selfish
- 1:51:27plus stupid over money or
- 1:51:30whatever deeply harmful harmful person.
- 1:51:33Yeah. And and it's I'm trying to figure
- 1:51:35out how to Okay. I think most people
- 1:51:37like that are just dumb and like like in
- 1:51:40tar like I I like that movie a lot cuz I
- 1:51:43think she seems just really stupid but
- 1:51:45because she's so empowered she kind of
- 1:51:47like trips all over herself and still
- 1:51:49gets to do all this weird crap to
- 1:51:51people. And then um once she loses that
- 1:51:54power, then it just suddenly seems like
- 1:51:56seedy and gross what she's doing. And I
- 1:51:58think it's often like that of like it's
- 1:52:00weird people with weird compulsions and
- 1:52:03weird insecurities that do weird things
- 1:52:05to other people, but when they get a
- 1:52:07little bit of power, then it becomes
- 1:52:08this like rampant issue because no one's
- 1:52:10like, "Hey, stop doing that thing."
- 1:52:13Right. Right. I guess the reason I'm
- 1:52:15interested in splitting the exact hairs
- 1:52:17on it is just because I'm like, "All
- 1:52:19right, so how do we [ __ ] stop these
- 1:52:22guys? How do we get people to realize
- 1:52:24that like uh Andrew Schultz is crapping
- 1:52:28out dog [ __ ] into the system? You know
- 1:52:29what I mean? Like how do we get people
- 1:52:30to figure that out? You know what I
- 1:52:32mean? I don't know. Well, I think it's
- 1:52:33kind of like the doctor versus antiaxers
- 1:52:36video. Like I don't think mo a lot of
- 1:52:39people care that like stuff that they
- 1:52:41consume or the guys who make it are like
- 1:52:44you know bad. And I think also you you
- 1:52:47put yourself into the dichotomy of like
- 1:52:49the shrieking lib once you do that. So
- 1:52:52it's like oh I'm going to do like and
- 1:52:54consume everything you don't like cuz
- 1:52:56you are you've put yourself on the lib
- 1:52:58polarity and I have to like just do
- 1:53:00whatever you don't like because that's
- 1:53:01the good stuff, right? Yeah. Yeah. It's
- 1:53:04like very hard to have like a spine I
- 1:53:06guess without seeming like a little
- 1:53:08teacher. So the best attitude is like
- 1:53:10just to ignore that stuff and not engage
- 1:53:13with it and like I think a lot with that
- 1:53:16is like centralization of power. So if
- 1:53:18you just like send your attention and
- 1:53:20stuff to somewhere else is like the best
- 1:53:23thing you can do.
- 1:53:27I don't know. I don't know. I I've kind
- 1:53:29of tried to go the little bit of the
- 1:53:30teacher route where I'm like yelling for
- 1:53:3230 minutes about how irony
- 1:53:34works. I mean, but I don't know if that
- 1:53:36I don't know if that's annoying though.
- 1:53:38You know what I mean? Yes. I think
- 1:53:39anyone who doesn't care to begin with is
- 1:53:41going to be like, "Wow, hell yeah. I'm
- 1:53:43never going to care." This solidifies
- 1:53:45it. I guess I guess my goal with it is
- 1:53:47like the people who do care, I then help
- 1:53:50update their ability to talk to their
- 1:53:52like brother or something, somebody
- 1:53:54whose mind they might be able to change.
- 1:53:56Exactly. Exactly. Like I'm trying to
- 1:53:57give I'm trying to I'm trying to be a
- 1:53:59weapons manufacturer in the culture war
- 1:54:00for our side. You know what I mean?
- 1:54:05But I don't know if that's effective or
- 1:54:07if I'm wrong. Like if I just tell people
- 1:54:09I'm like if I'm like all right and like
- 1:54:11if I'm like those guys are being
- 1:54:13fascist. It's like they don't think like
- 1:54:16time to be Tim Dylan's not like time to
- 1:54:17be fascist today. You know what I mean?
- 1:54:19He's just like the I don't know. I think
- 1:54:22he might be a little he might be. Yeah.
- 1:54:25He honestly might be. Yeah, maybe. Some
- 1:54:27days he's like, I think I think I should
- 1:54:29be a little fascist. New fascist. I love
- 1:54:32his new kind of or maybe not new pattern
- 1:54:35where he just outright says like I don't
- 1:54:37even necessarily agree disagree with
- 1:54:39this this woman who's speaking. I just
- 1:54:42she's just pissing me off. Yeah, I think
- 1:54:44that's that's most of it is a big part
- 1:54:46of it is just the evolution of like
- 1:54:48drive time conservative radio where for
- 1:54:50sure there's a I don't know most of
- 1:54:53America, most of the world just kind of
- 1:54:54wants to to passively listen to people
- 1:54:57say reactionary and conservative things.
- 1:55:00Yeah. They don't really care if it's
- 1:55:01right or true. They just want to hear
- 1:55:03someone be like whatever. It's ASMR.
- 1:55:07Like this woman is annoying. I don't
- 1:55:08even disagree with this woman. She's
- 1:55:09being so annoying. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah, I
- 1:55:12think it there's an element of it where
- 1:55:13it's like I just don't like being told
- 1:55:16what to do. I get told what to do all
- 1:55:18day. So, I want to listen to this person
- 1:55:20who's actively acting against that. And
- 1:55:22even if I maybe thought about it deeper,
- 1:55:24I wouldn't like it. But having people
- 1:55:26just like crap on it just triggers my
- 1:55:29shut up. The moment they feel like they
- 1:55:31are filtering or censoring, they feel
- 1:55:33like that is immediately bad or wrong.
- 1:55:36So, go the opposite route.
- 1:55:38Yeah. Even if you're like kind of
- 1:55:40denying your own values in a way, you're
- 1:55:43like, I'm just going to listen to
- 1:55:44whoever tells me that I don't have to
- 1:55:46listen to anyone, especially women. So,
- 1:55:49how do you listen to a really good rap
- 1:55:50song that's also very misogynistic and
- 1:55:52someone tries to be like and you're
- 1:55:54like, "Shut up." Yes. Totally. Like, I'm
- 1:55:57living out my fantasy of owning a trap
- 1:56:00house and like not listening to the law
- 1:56:02and like not going to my job. Like, I
- 1:56:04don't need you coming here and telling
- 1:56:06me that that's bad.
- 1:56:08Right. Yes. I mean, obviously like being
- 1:56:12a fascist is on like a different level
- 1:56:14and questioning other people's rights
- 1:56:15and stuff, but I think it's I think I
- 1:56:18guess if I was guilty of it, it would be
- 1:56:19in that capacity. Fascist hip-hop.
- 1:56:23Truly, they not they not like us. Deport
- 1:56:26them.
- 1:56:28They How we doing? Oh, we're at the
- 1:56:30twohour mark. So, this is where this is
- 1:56:32where all all possibly How we doing,
- 1:56:34folks? How we feeling?
- 1:56:36Sweaty. I will. I will. Listen, if you
- 1:56:39if you want to keep going, I will. But I
- 1:56:41will also I have to do my laundry. All
- 1:56:43right. Time to wrap up. All right.
- 1:56:46Perfect. We love a good two-hour.
- 1:56:47Anybody got any plugs? Let's do that
- 1:56:49real quick. Keep it crispy. Keep it
- 1:56:51crispy. Baboo. Baba. Keep it twisted.
- 1:56:54Lock the gates. Um, we're going to be in
- 1:56:58LA. See you in hell. May 8th. Oh, yeah.
- 1:57:00We're going to be in LA on May 8th.
- 1:57:03We're gonna do a show there. Nice. at
- 1:57:06the Lyric Hyperion. The Lyric Hyperion.
- 1:57:08Oh, nice. I' never been, but they
- 1:57:10Tickets are on sale. Oh, we should have
- 1:57:12posted it today. Post it tomorrow. We're
- 1:57:14going to post it tomorrow, which will
- 1:57:16have been maybe a week or two ago.
- 1:57:21This comes out on This comes out on a
- 1:57:23strict strict schedule of whenever I
- 1:57:25remember or decide to do it. It's going
- 1:57:27to be after the show. Yeah. One month
- 1:57:29ago, we did a great show. I think What a
- 1:57:31show it was. And you got that big agent.
- 1:57:36Thanks. Thanks to you guys for coming
- 1:57:37out. Sold out. Totally sold out. So
- 1:57:41good. It's good to be back in New York.
- 1:57:44Welcome back.
- 1:57:46I know you guys club video. Got to come
- 1:57:49out. It'll be a really good time. It's
- 1:57:50always a blast. These guys are making a
- 1:57:52video. Carly will be there. I will be
- 1:57:54there. Possibly with Carly in a friend
- 1:57:57video perhaps. In a friend video.
- 1:57:59Interact with Carly. Yeah. Just a bunch
- 1:58:01of really amazing videos. Awesome. DJ
- 1:58:04after. You could dance. We hang out with
- 1:58:06some people. It's gonna be at a big
- 1:58:08venue. Have food. Should definitely
- 1:58:09come. No, no food this time, but if you
- 1:58:12come, maybe we'll build that
- 1:58:13relationship. Maybe we'll get some food
- 1:58:15in there.
- 1:58:17Think about the future. Right. Right,
- 1:58:20darling. Um, nothing really to plug. I
- 1:58:23would say follow me on social media. Um,
- 1:58:27and also if you have a show that I can
- 1:58:29do, ask me to do it. And she'll do as
- 1:58:32many shows as she can on the night.
