Latest / Right Now Hot Takes / AOC Says “Woke 1 Was Crazy” — The Left’s Rebrand Begins
Transcript
- 0:04Imagine this. The same people who spent years
- 0:08pushing defund the police, cancel culture, and
- 0:11radical redistribution just looked into the camera
- 0:14and laughed. Woke One was crazy. That's not me
- 0:19saying it. That's Alexandria Ocasio -Cortez on
- 0:23national television. Welcome to Right Now Hot
- 0:26Takes. I'm Jim Rand. She was defending candidates
- 0:29who once said the quiet parts out loud about
- 0:31abolishing police, ending prisons, and transforming
- 0:35institutions. Now the message is, judge us only
- 0:39on what we say today. Forget the last six years.
- 0:42Beliefs can develop and grow. Meanwhile, average
- 0:46rent in New York City just hit a record high.
- 0:48Socialist -aligned candidates keep taking hits
- 0:51in primaries. The same ideas that produced chaos,
- 0:55higher costs, and division are being quietly
- 0:57rebranded as the new, improved version. This
- 1:01is not growth. This is damage control. Young
- 1:04people are the target audience for the rebrand.
- 1:06You're being told the old slogans were just a
- 1:09phase, a product of the moment after 2020, and
- 1:12the real solutions are still coming if you give
- 1:14them another chance under better branding. Look
- 1:17at the results instead of the packaging. Cities
- 1:20that leaned hardest into the progressive package
- 1:22did not become more affordable or safer. They
- 1:25became more expensive and more divided. Record
- 1:28rents, rising disorder in some places, fewer
- 1:32opportunities for the exact people the rhetoric
- 1:34claimed to help. Free enterprise is not a slogan.
- 1:38It is a system that rewards people who produce
- 1:40more of what others need. Limited government
- 1:43and personal responsibility expand the pie. Envy
- 1:46politics and central control shrink it and create
- 1:49new winners and losers based on political favor.
- 1:52The left is not suddenly converting to free markets
- 1:55or personal responsibility. They are trying to
- 1:58keep the same failed incentives while changing
- 2:00the language so fewer people notice the continuity.
- 2:03I love this country because ordinary people can
- 2:06still see through the rebrand if someone is willing
- 2:08to say it plainly and point to the outcomes.
- 2:11If you're in your 20s and you're being sold a
- 2:13new version of the same old ideas, ask one question.
- 2:17Where are the results? not the intentions, not
- 2:20the new branding or the soft laugh on Sunday
- 2:22morning television, the actual outcomes for jobs,
- 2:26safety, housing costs and opportunity. Same socialism,
- 2:30new packaging, same failures. Don't fall for
- 2:34the rebrand. If you enjoyed this episode, please
