Latest / FPL Pod / S8 Ep15: FPL Pod: Mateta a must-have?
Transcript
- 0:01Speaker 1: Another pods and another opportunity for us to state a
- 0:03Speaker 1: case for the defense. We analyze the form of some
- 0:06Speaker 1: of the game's popular players. We discussed if Matetais must
- 0:09Speaker 1: have given his fixtures and yes, my wild card didn't
- 0:12Speaker 1: go well. I'm going to start this podcast with a disclaimer.
- 0:19Speaker 1: I don't want to be here. I wild carded, it
- 0:21Speaker 1: didn't go well. Yes, Kelly Summer's better on the FBL
- 0:24Speaker 1: pod as you heard Julian and la Ron and Sam Bumfield.
- 0:28Speaker 1: Not only did these two outscore me, have vander Ben
- 0:31Speaker 1: who I didn't have. They're both on holiday, so they're
- 0:34Speaker 1: both winning at life and.
- 0:35Speaker 2: I'm using in rainy England.
- 0:37Speaker 1: Hi, guys, lovely to be backguard, just what I wanted
- 0:40Speaker 1: to be doing.
- 0:41Speaker 2: Sam, as you've not been quite as glowedy already. How
- 0:43Speaker 2: you doing.
- 0:44Speaker 1: You had a good game week, having a good holiday.
- 0:46Speaker 1: What's time to be Sam Bonfield?
- 0:48Speaker 3: I'll tell you what Carol's Honestly, I was probably unbearable
- 0:51Speaker 3: on Sunday because when Mickey vander Ben scored that brace
- 0:55Speaker 3: my better half of fl family. He sold Mickey vandervenn
- 0:58Speaker 3: heading into this game week.
- 0:59Speaker 2: So you can imagine it could.
- 1:02Speaker 3: Exactly imagine being out for dinner with me with Mickey
- 1:05Speaker 3: Vanderman on my bench boost and having to deal with
- 1:08Speaker 3: not only Spurs winning, but it being Mickey and having
- 1:11Speaker 3: solved him. I did actually think I might be coming
- 1:14Speaker 3: back from this holiday without husband.
- 1:16Speaker 2: It was that bad.
- 1:17Speaker 3: But yeah, I had a great week.
- 1:19Speaker 2: So it's been wonderful. Thanks go on, Jeles. How good
- 1:21Speaker 2: to your week?
- 1:22Speaker 4: Them much better than yours? Skills, that's for sure, almost
- 1:26Speaker 4: twice your point.
- 1:27Speaker 5: I mean, how is well?
- 1:29Speaker 4: I mean wild carding usually you know, against your points.
- 1:32Speaker 4: I mean my defense was on fire.
- 1:35Speaker 2: Yeah, do you know what?
- 1:35Speaker 5: That terrified? Do you know what?
- 1:38Speaker 1: My defense actually kind of salvage what was a terrible week.
- 1:40Speaker 1: The thing is, I don't I don't dislike my team.
- 1:42Speaker 1: It's really weird. One of my other colleagues that I
- 1:45Speaker 1: work with also wild card this week, and we had
- 1:47Speaker 1: quite a similar teams, and there was two or three differences. Unfortunately,
- 1:50Speaker 1: one of his was Creepy Junior, so that was a
- 1:52Speaker 1: difference because Creepy Junior actually scored. But I even looked
- 1:55Speaker 1: at I looked at my team again for this week.
- 1:57Speaker 1: I still don't dislike it. I still obviously it's easy
- 2:00Speaker 1: Sarah regret and I having Van de Ven now, but
- 2:02Speaker 1: I didn't consider him, and probably I still would.
- 2:05Speaker 2: Maybe maybe I would.
- 2:07Speaker 1: It's so hard when someone's got twenty three points to
- 2:09Speaker 1: say you wouldn't, But I actually don't dislike my team,
- 2:12Speaker 1: and you have to remind yourself. I think at this point, Sam,
- 2:14Speaker 1: there's been so many horror stories, hasn't there with wild
- 2:16Speaker 1: cards and people like exactly for example, vact saler score
- 2:20Speaker 1: in this week, like that was written in the stars.
- 2:22Speaker 1: But I still don't mind that I sold my salar.
- 2:24Speaker 1: I still stand by that. But wild card isn't for
- 2:26Speaker 1: one week, and often this happens, doesn't it the first
- 2:28Speaker 1: week you wild card, It doesn't go to plan, and
- 2:29Speaker 1: you have to just kind of push through it and
- 2:31Speaker 1: realize this is for the bigger picture. That's what I'm
- 2:33Speaker 1: telling myself anyway. Yeah, remember that a wild card isn't
- 2:36Speaker 1: literally just for that game week. If you're free hitting,
- 2:38Speaker 1: it goes badly, that's a disaster. But if you've wildcard,
- 2:41Speaker 1: you've done it for this particular reason over the next three, four,
- 2:44Speaker 1: five weeks or in your case, probably with a view
- 2:46Speaker 1: of the next ten weeks in mind, up to a
- 2:49Speaker 1: sort of game week nineteen when we get the next one.
- 2:51Speaker 1: So yeah, I don't panic like the fact that it's
- 2:53Speaker 1: not gone well this week. Yeah, it doesn't look great,
- 2:56Speaker 1: and I think it probably doesn't help that you've like
- 2:58Speaker 1: slipped in the minigue as well. That's always the worst feing.
- 3:02Speaker 1: I know she threw up because finally, sorry, but Sam,
- 3:05Speaker 1: you should have been above me throughout.
- 3:06Speaker 2: Let's be honest, you're the one that's the experience. You're
- 3:09Speaker 2: actually a good FPL player.
- 3:10Speaker 1: I'm just here talking about it kind of trying to
- 3:12Speaker 1: keep you two in line. But yeah, you did overtake me,
- 3:15Speaker 1: but also you should overtake me, even in a wild
- 3:17Speaker 1: Cup with the bench boost active. By the way, we
- 3:19Speaker 1: spoke about Jaws's incredible bench boots last week. Hats off
- 3:22Speaker 1: because talk us through what your bench looked like and
- 3:24Speaker 1: the points you got from that. Yeah, it was decent.
- 3:27Speaker 1: So I had a spoiler alert.
- 3:31Speaker 3: I was on an aeroplane when the Gabrielle team whether
- 3:34Speaker 3: he was going to start or not, broke, so obviously
- 3:36Speaker 3: I couldn't react to it. So he landed and I
- 3:39Speaker 3: was like, what do you mean, Gabrielle is a doubt?
- 3:41Speaker 3: Why is he flag this is a disaster. Anyway, he
- 3:43Speaker 3: was on my bench anyway, because I was playing Timber,
- 3:45Speaker 3: so I had Debravka, who was frustrated that he lost
- 3:48Speaker 3: his clean sheet. But anyway, to Bradcuick, I stayed with two,
- 3:51Speaker 3: at Gabrielle with nine, and then obviously Vandervem with twenty three,
- 3:54Speaker 3: so that it was a very successful bench boos, but
- 3:57Speaker 3: mostly thanks to Mickey, because you know, I would have
- 4:00Speaker 3: taken to be honest, I sort of said, if I
- 4:02Speaker 3: can get more than fifteen on a bench boost, that
- 4:04Speaker 3: feels like a decent battalion. So for them to for
- 4:07Speaker 3: Gabrielle and Vanderven to get what thirty two between that,
- 4:12Speaker 3: you got thirty.
- 4:13Speaker 2: Six on your bench post, didn't you?
- 4:14Speaker 1: That's but last week I literally said it when we
- 4:16Speaker 1: were congratulating Jewels.
- 4:17Speaker 2: I didn't think that could be better, but fair play
- 4:20Speaker 2: that is. Yeah, yeah, that is.
- 4:21Speaker 1: A good bench boost. I would have laughed so much.
- 4:23Speaker 1: So if you hadn't bench poosted me, he was.
- 4:25Speaker 2: Your third self.
- 4:25Speaker 3: Oh my god, could you imagine imagine? If I hadn't,
- 4:28Speaker 3: it would have been absolute and that would have really upset me.
- 4:31Speaker 3: You know how I feel about Mickey vander n so
- 4:32Speaker 3: for me, yeah, it was kind of written in the
- 4:34Speaker 3: stars that he was going to be the bit of
- 4:36Speaker 3: a hero of my week because I was like, kind
- 4:38Speaker 3: of I was really frustrated with the Debravka stuff. A
- 4:40Speaker 3: isdo things, so I was like, oh, well, at least
- 4:43Speaker 3: Isado played, so I points out of him, so that
- 4:45Speaker 3: was good. Like the fact that I got through a
- 4:47Speaker 3: bench boost and everyone had played, all fifteen of them,
- 4:50Speaker 3: that felt good. The goalkeepers were both massively disappointing for
- 4:53Speaker 3: Pope and a brav could not get clean sheets. That
- 4:56Speaker 3: was really disappointing. But yeah, actually, to be honest, that's
- 4:59Speaker 3: why when you look at it in the cold life
- 5:01Speaker 3: day with your team versus mine, like mine is saved
- 5:04Speaker 3: by the bench bees, because otherwise we'd be on very
- 5:06Speaker 3: similar points for this week, because my actual eleven didn't
- 5:09Speaker 3: do very much like Harland blanking that doesn't happen very often.
- 5:12Speaker 3: Jel Pedro was again a frustration. Rota Marta, who I
- 5:15Speaker 3: brought in, was frustrating soccer In fact, you know, across
- 5:18Speaker 3: the midfield, if you look at my midfield, it's like
- 5:20Speaker 3: soccer rinders, kudas and absolutely nothing across the same.
- 5:24Speaker 2: Midfield, but same points.
- 5:25Speaker 1: I didn't have any any returns and same as my
- 5:27Speaker 1: forwards too, Yeah exactly.
- 5:29Speaker 3: I mean there was only really Timber and Sinnetti and
- 5:31Speaker 3: my starting eleven that really did anything. So definitely saved
- 5:33Speaker 3: by Mickey and yeah, a really good bench Beace. I
- 5:37Speaker 3: ended up on sixty nine for the week and it's
- 5:39Speaker 3: another really really nice big green arrow.
- 5:40Speaker 5: So happy with that.
- 5:42Speaker 2: Tools.
- 5:43Speaker 1: You had a lot of points on your bench, didn't
- 5:44Speaker 1: you bet you wish you had another bench.
- 5:47Speaker 4: But you know what I think, And we would talk
- 5:49Speaker 4: again about defenders later on the shore, but I think
- 5:51Speaker 4: that the most difficult, really nice to pick the four
- 5:54Speaker 4: or three best one amongst your five, because right now
- 5:58Speaker 4: the ones returning are your defenders. Did they score like
- 6:00Speaker 4: Mickey van Deven and he's not going to score two
- 6:02Speaker 4: every week anyway, or they don't concede, or they get
- 6:05Speaker 4: the death compoints or an assist somewhere or be a bit.
- 6:09Speaker 5: Of a mix of everything.
- 6:10Speaker 4: And this time, to be fair, started olriley thinking that
- 6:14Speaker 4: City against vilag even away from home, could do something,
- 6:18Speaker 4: and with him being at the starving and Gradula went
- 6:21Speaker 4: for like a more defensive minded team and O'Riley was
- 6:24Speaker 4: only on the bench when Gay was on the bench
- 6:26Speaker 4: because he played against Arson and Sakha, Gabrielle and Timber, etcetera. Butah,
- 6:30Speaker 4: he got four points at Petrovich in goal on the
- 6:34Speaker 4: bench with eight against Pope that some mentioned with only three,
- 6:38Speaker 4: and I debated a lot between the two and I
- 6:40Speaker 4: just thought, okay, Pope against for them, that should be fine,
- 6:43Speaker 4: and it wasn't. So yeah, it was a little bit frustrating.
- 6:46Speaker 5: So Indian.
- 6:46Speaker 4: And I've got nineteen eighteen points on the bench because
- 6:49Speaker 4: Minte also returned out traff against.
- 6:51Speaker 2: United, which I had had eighteen points on the bench.
- 6:54Speaker 5: The amount of points you got for the whole.
- 6:57Speaker 1: No, just to talk you through because obviously we I
- 6:59Speaker 1: spoke about more while on last week's show. If listeners
- 7:02Speaker 1: haven't tracked down my team and seen what I did,
- 7:05Speaker 1: I will tell you what my team was. I did
- 7:06Speaker 1: get thirty nine points, but I went with Robert Sanchez
- 7:09Speaker 1: in the ending goal.
- 7:10Speaker 5: I had.
- 7:10Speaker 1: I think I maybe had Petrovitch the last time we
- 7:12Speaker 1: recorded on Thursday. Well I should have kept him, shouldn't I.
- 7:15Speaker 1: But I found a little bit of extra money. I
- 7:18Speaker 1: had a little bit of tink around, so I did
- 7:20Speaker 1: Snessy Gabrielle and Timber and then Mickie Eli and Richard's.
- 7:24Speaker 1: Richards was I had rode On by the way in
- 7:26Speaker 1: my team all week, and then I fiddled things around
- 7:29Speaker 1: and went for Richard's over rode On, so that would
- 7:32Speaker 1: have also been more points. Again, though happy to have
- 7:34Speaker 1: Richard's longer term. You just kind of think you have
- 7:36Speaker 1: to think road On isn't going to score like that
- 7:37Speaker 1: every single week. That's what I'm telling myself. Anyway, my
- 7:40Speaker 1: midfield is Sarsameno, Enzo and Soaka. They just about got
- 7:44Speaker 1: double points between them, and I went with grantited Jaka.
- 7:47Speaker 1: I downgraded, I kept Enzo. We talked about last week
- 7:50Speaker 1: about whether the Enzo versus Caido, but you're normally the
- 7:54Speaker 1: status person on this show, Sam, but I actually did
- 7:56Speaker 1: a bit of look into the underlying stats and stuff
- 7:58Speaker 1: and decided that in the end, I thought that Enzo
- 8:00Speaker 1: was worth the extra money and if I want to,
- 8:01Speaker 1: I can go down from him or I've got someone.
- 8:03Speaker 1: Then at that six point five, still not sold on Ishmelasa.
- 8:06Speaker 1: That's my Watford bias coming out. And granted Jaka, he's
- 8:10Speaker 1: going to play each week. He was unlucky to not
- 8:12Speaker 1: to get more at the weekend sunder and looking good form.
- 8:14Speaker 1: I'm quite happy with that as at that price point
- 8:16Speaker 1: I thought it was a good value and then I
- 8:18Speaker 1: thought my fowards were brilliant. I thought they were going
- 8:19Speaker 1: to go world last week and even with captain in Harland,
- 8:22Speaker 1: they didn't get double points, double figures. I got Voltemada,
- 8:25Speaker 1: Matteta and Harland.
- 8:27Speaker 2: Thanks lads. Yeah, anyway, that's my team. I ended on
- 8:29Speaker 2: Thursday nine points and the only way is up.
- 8:33Speaker 1: Let's move on to the FPL Pod Mini League. Enough
- 8:35Speaker 1: about us for now, and we've got another leader at
- 8:37Speaker 1: the top. Norman Dierden and his team return of the
- 8:40Speaker 1: Moysire lead the way after getting sixty five points this week.
- 8:42Speaker 1: He had returns from of course he did vander Ven,
- 8:45Speaker 1: Gabrielle s NeSSI and Eza. He's two points head of
- 8:47Speaker 1: Raja Sharma in second, all of the current top ten.
- 8:50Speaker 1: Captain Harland for his blank against Aston Villa, so we
- 8:53Speaker 1: weren't alone, with the exception of Joan Wayman in ninth
- 8:56Speaker 1: he was brave and optave of Voltemada. I'm sorry but
- 8:59Speaker 1: I still don't know how Mad didn't return that chance
- 9:02Speaker 1: that he had summed up my whole game week on
- 9:05Speaker 1: once he missed that, I was like, it's not gonna go. Well,
- 9:06Speaker 1: is it a reminder if you haven't joined us, the
- 9:08Speaker 1: codes is x Y six XP L Okay. Then let's
- 9:12Speaker 1: talk about big at the back, because it feels like
- 9:15Speaker 1: I present the Fantasy TV show as well I present
- 9:17Speaker 1: this podcast. I talk about FPO a lot, and we
- 9:19Speaker 1: spend a lot of the time talking about defenders. And
- 9:22Speaker 1: on a week where we saw in case you haven't heard,
- 9:24Speaker 1: fand of End got twenty three points. Matt Cash was
- 9:27Speaker 1: the second I scoring player with fifteen points, and as mentioned,
- 9:31Speaker 1: Rojohn also scored big with thirteen points. Then there was
- 9:33Speaker 1: Poroh eleven sold him on the wild card true for
- 9:36Speaker 1: Gabrielle Shaw, Danzo they were on nine. Conzo and pow
- 9:39Speaker 1: Torre has all got eight. So I think that just
- 9:42Speaker 1: backs up everything we're saying, Sam, does it not?
- 9:44Speaker 4: Yeah?
- 9:45Speaker 2: I think so.
- 9:45Speaker 3: I think it's it's highlighting that big at the back
- 9:47Speaker 3: is definitely or four at the back anyway, it's definitely
- 9:50Speaker 3: the right strategy. But it also highlights that you don't
- 9:53Speaker 3: need to go big at the back, doesn't it Because
- 9:54Speaker 3: if you look at those players none of them are
- 9:56Speaker 3: the experts to get the back.
- 9:58Speaker 1: In terms of numbers, but not in terms of cost exactly.
- 10:01Speaker 1: It's the inimation.
- 10:02Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 10:03Speaker 3: Yeah, in the past we used to go, oh, you've
- 10:04Speaker 3: got to go big at the bat by by trend By, Gabrielle,
- 10:07Speaker 3: by Saliba, like all of these expensive players. But actually,
- 10:10Speaker 3: the reality of this week's highest scoring defenders that you've
- 10:14Speaker 3: just filed out is that, with the exception of Gabrielle,
- 10:16Speaker 3: these are all really cheap assets. These are all in
- 10:18Speaker 3: the four to four and a half to five bracket.
- 10:21Speaker 3: They're all really cheap budget enabling defenders. So it doesn't
- 10:25Speaker 3: mean that you can play for. It is going to
- 10:27Speaker 3: be something that I think is hard to do in
- 10:30Speaker 3: some ways because you build this wild card team or
- 10:34Speaker 3: this team that you've created, and unless you burn one
- 10:37Speaker 3: of the front eights lots, it becomes quite hard to
- 10:40Speaker 3: play for at the back. And you saw it this week.
- 10:42Speaker 3: I was right. You have to kind of shift your
- 10:44Speaker 3: formation in the way that you think and maybe move
- 10:47Speaker 3: to a three and a three or go four four
- 10:49Speaker 3: two or how you want to do it. But yeah,
- 10:51Speaker 3: I definitely think moving forward now that my benchbieces plaid
- 10:55Speaker 3: for at the back feels like the way to go.
- 10:57Speaker 1: Yeah, it does for me as well, Like it is
- 10:58Speaker 1: nice even with having me La and Richards in there.
- 11:01Speaker 1: Actually you can you can get points. I mean, George,
- 11:03Speaker 1: you've had gay heat throughout and I know he's had
- 11:05Speaker 1: price rises, but you really don't need to spend much.
- 11:08Speaker 1: It feels like we said it last week, didn't we
- 11:10Speaker 1: You go with your Timber and your Gabrielle. But even
- 11:12Speaker 1: the regular points they're providing, they're not above I mean,
- 11:14Speaker 1: Gabrielle is, but Timber hasn't had another price rise.
- 11:17Speaker 2: Has he's got above six? Is he still five?
- 11:18Speaker 5: Nine? Yeah? Six point?
- 11:20Speaker 2: He's gone up six Timber? Right, miss both of those.
- 11:24Speaker 1: Oh that means my team value have gone up because
- 11:26Speaker 1: team value killed me with my wild card as we saw.
- 11:28Speaker 2: But like they're above six million.
- 11:30Speaker 1: But actually if you've got them at the right particularly Timber,
- 11:32Speaker 1: if you got him at the right point, he wasn't
- 11:35Speaker 1: And it does just show if you aside from those,
- 11:37Speaker 1: you you don't need to spend loads to still get
- 11:38Speaker 1: the same kind of points.
- 11:39Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 11:40Speaker 4: Absolutely, And like I said earlier, I think the hardest
- 11:42Speaker 4: bit really is to pick four of your five because
- 11:45Speaker 4: even the ones that you might have got in your
- 11:48Speaker 4: squad to be just your budget defender. Are four four
- 11:51Speaker 4: point five can return as we saw with the Sunderland defense,
- 11:55Speaker 4: that m is a really good pick that you have
- 11:56Speaker 4: at directed we mentioned before Ballad were mentioned. You can
- 11:59Speaker 4: look at Senesse, you can look at Gaye again. I
- 12:01Speaker 4: know they're better teams really, Bonnemouth and Palace the overall,
- 12:04Speaker 4: that's the idea and and you know you usually will
- 12:08Speaker 4: have five really good defenders that could return every week.
- 12:11Speaker 4: Now it's just about picking the right four. But if
- 12:14Speaker 4: you look at the importance of set pieces this season
- 12:17Speaker 4: in the Promedigue, incredible long throws, corners, wild free kicks,
- 12:22Speaker 4: every team seems to be even more threatening than they
- 12:24Speaker 4: used to in the past. So that adds to the
- 12:26Speaker 4: value of your defenders because now they can score more
- 12:29Speaker 4: goals than ever. Not just Arsenal, but if you look
- 12:31Speaker 4: a lot of other teams are becoming more and more
- 12:34Speaker 4: efficient on all those kind of debt boards situations. Really,
- 12:37Speaker 4: plus the death cons of changing the dynamic we said
- 12:39Speaker 4: that before, so now more than ever, go forward the
- 12:42Speaker 4: back every single day. There's not even a doubt. Don't
- 12:45Speaker 4: think about it, because that's where the points are it
- 12:47Speaker 4: would be silly to go just for a back three.
- 12:49Speaker 4: And on top of that, if you get the right
- 12:51Speaker 4: four defenders, then you're good.
- 12:54Speaker 1: It's also changing that I think about defensive transfers too,
- 12:56Speaker 1: So to be honest, when I was making my World Card,
- 12:58Speaker 1: I was like, in the past, I would just never
- 13:00Speaker 1: have wanted to change a defender, whereas now I'm like, actually,
- 13:04Speaker 1: I don't mind that. I don't mind in a bit
- 13:05Speaker 1: moving Chris Richards to someone else, do you know what
- 13:07Speaker 1: I mean.
- 13:08Speaker 3: Yeah, particularly if you're going to have a couple of
- 13:10Speaker 3: arsenal defenders in there, because you're probably locked in on them.
- 13:13Speaker 3: SINESSI feels like he's going to be a lock in
- 13:14Speaker 3: most people's team. So those other two defender slots feel
- 13:17Speaker 3: like you can move around and you can pick different ones,
- 13:21Speaker 3: and it no longer feels like a waste of time
- 13:23Speaker 3: doing that if you're going to play four at the back,
- 13:24Speaker 3: because in the past, you'd have your two arsenal, you'd
- 13:26Speaker 3: maybe have one other and that will be it you
- 13:29Speaker 3: just lock in, and the other two it's kind of like, well,
- 13:30Speaker 3: they're just going to sit there until you bench boost,
- 13:32Speaker 3: or if you've already bench boost and maybe you've taken
- 13:35Speaker 3: money out of them and they're four point zeros. But
- 13:36Speaker 3: this season it definitely feels like you can look at
- 13:39Speaker 3: the fixture runs and that's why a lot of people
- 13:41Speaker 3: write sold Mickey vander Ben last week because the Bears
- 13:44Speaker 3: fixtures are a little bit tougher coming up. So you
- 13:46Speaker 3: can see why people were doing it, because they're moving
- 13:48Speaker 3: towards the defenses that have got better fixtures over the
- 13:52Speaker 3: coming weeks. So yeah, for sure, I think in a
- 13:55Speaker 3: way that I haven't been before. I'm looking at the
- 13:57Speaker 3: defensive transfers and thinking I'm more likely to change those positions.
- 14:00Speaker 3: Maybe then I am the midfielders, all the forwards.
- 14:03Speaker 4: And the ownership now is so high of those defenders.
- 14:05Speaker 4: Gabrielle is almost three if it's cause.
- 14:08Speaker 2: Yeah, it's so true.
- 14:10Speaker 5: I thought that if Discovery does something.
- 14:12Speaker 4: Yeah, even Sessi vander ven is now thirty two percent,
- 14:15Speaker 4: Timber is almost twenty five percent, get his thirty three percent.
- 14:19Speaker 5: So if those guys.
- 14:20Speaker 4: Redne it's not Okay, it's not as much as sixty
- 14:22Speaker 4: percent for you know, d Pedro or Salao or seventy
- 14:26Speaker 4: five percent of Holland obviously, but still that's enough to
- 14:29Speaker 4: hurt you. And as we said, if you get Vanderven
- 14:31Speaker 4: this week, it's a good week. If you don't have
- 14:32Speaker 4: Micky van Deven this week, it's not a good week
- 14:35Speaker 4: for you. It's almost as simple as that. Yeah, I
- 14:36Speaker 4: can confirm and I think that, Yeah, no, but I
- 14:39Speaker 4: didn't say that fuicually, although on a white card I
- 14:41Speaker 4: would have picked nickivand even every single day. I'm kidding,
- 14:43Speaker 4: I kidding, but that ownership is so high. It's true
- 14:46Speaker 4: with those defenders that you have to take that in
- 14:49Speaker 4: consideration as well when you build your team.
- 14:51Speaker 1: I did actually check and SESSI surprised me. He's just
- 14:53Speaker 1: under twenty seven percent, so he's not quite in the
- 14:56Speaker 1: arsenal defender's category.
- 14:57Speaker 2: His ownership's only going to go up, isn't it really Okay?
- 15:00Speaker 1: Moving on then, I think we're all in agreement about that.
- 15:02Speaker 1: It's just by defenders and make sure you've got you
- 15:04Speaker 1: to ask ones and then some good ones.
- 15:06Speaker 2: There's some really nice options elsewhere.
- 15:08Speaker 1: But yeah, some of the other big talking points this week,
- 15:13Speaker 1: is he ever going to not be a big talking point?
- 15:15Speaker 1: Huell Pedro sam the updates on his shots and I'm
- 15:19Speaker 1: coming we can see that he's not returning in FPL,
- 15:22Speaker 1: but the shots and the chances have been a bit
- 15:24Speaker 1: of a problem, and I'm wondering when you're going to
- 15:25Speaker 1: sell him, to be honest.
- 15:28Speaker 2: Now, I mean.
- 15:31Speaker 3: So I am actually very very nearly told him earlier,
- 15:34Speaker 3: and then I was like, no, I'm going to wait
- 15:36Speaker 3: until this evenings because obviously we've got leak happening this evening.
- 15:39Speaker 2: Sorry, yeah, we're recording on Wednesday night. I should have
- 15:41Speaker 2: said that.
- 15:42Speaker 3: Yeah, So in my head I was like, well, I'm
- 15:45Speaker 3: going to go to Mateta Crystal Pallace obviously playing after
- 15:48Speaker 3: we've finished recording this podcast, so I want to make
- 15:51Speaker 3: sure that he makes it through. Actually he's on the
- 15:52Speaker 3: bench anyway, so maybe he just stay there and be
- 15:54Speaker 3: fine as long as he does. Though, Jack Pedro for
- 15:58Speaker 3: me is he's it's ridiculous, isn't it, Because you still
- 16:03Speaker 3: look at the fixtures and you go, okay, well, I
- 16:05Speaker 3: still think there's decent enough fixtures in there. But over
- 16:07Speaker 3: the last few weeks we've held him because the fixtures
- 16:10Speaker 3: have been great and you've kind of gone, oh, he's
- 16:11Speaker 3: got Sunderland, Oh he's got But actually the underlying stats
- 16:16Speaker 3: just aren't there, Like at the beginning of the season
- 16:18Speaker 3: he was doing really well and you know, his goal
- 16:20Speaker 3: threat looked good, and he was having shots and you
- 16:22Speaker 3: know all of that stuff. But actually when you look
- 16:24Speaker 3: at it, like in terms of the actual number of
- 16:27Speaker 3: shots that he's having, he's not even top across the
- 16:30Speaker 3: Chelsea team, and Zo Fernandez is top. He's not even
- 16:33Speaker 3: top four shots inside the box, which is kind of
- 16:37Speaker 3: surely his bread and butter, that's where you would expect
- 16:39Speaker 3: him to be. He's not top for big chances either.
- 16:44Speaker 3: Everything's just disappeared, like the underlying numbers just aren't there.
- 16:47Speaker 3: And we could sit here all day and talk about
- 16:49Speaker 3: how bad the underlying numbers are for jel Pedro, but
- 16:52Speaker 3: it's probably you know, I don't think I need to
- 16:55Speaker 3: say that. It does seem ridiculous to do it given
- 16:58Speaker 3: its Spurs, who I mean, we never did very well
- 17:01Speaker 3: against Chelsea anyway, but Spurs up next, but then after
- 17:04Speaker 3: that it's Wolves and Bernley, so it feels ridiculous to
- 17:07Speaker 3: sell him. But I've equally held him through games against
- 17:10Speaker 3: Nottingham Forest and Sunderland, who have been you would expect
- 17:14Speaker 3: him to score. Certainly in the Nottingham Forest game. You
- 17:17Speaker 3: would have expected him to do something in that one,
- 17:18Speaker 3: So the fact that he hasn't it's part of the
- 17:20Speaker 3: reason I've gone for a different Chelsea player in my
- 17:22Speaker 3: team as well. So that sell jow Pedro. I'm still
- 17:25Speaker 3: invested for Wolves and Bernie in a couple of weeks time.
- 17:29Speaker 3: But yeah, Jil Pedro is going to exit my team
- 17:32Speaker 3: in the early hours of this morning.
- 17:34Speaker 2: Easy, sell Jews, isn't he if you've got rid?
- 17:36Speaker 4: I can't believe he's still owned by more than fifty
- 17:38Speaker 4: percent of the managers.
- 17:38Speaker 5: I won't lie.
- 17:40Speaker 4: I would help you out on his Sunderland underlight arms,
- 17:43Speaker 4: just normal studs. He had zero shots. He's expected this
- 17:47Speaker 4: since was zero point zero two. He had more death
- 17:49Speaker 4: cons in that game than actually touches in the Sunderland box,
- 17:52Speaker 4: which means that he actually was more active defensively for
- 17:57Speaker 4: Chelsea than doing anything with the board going forward. Like listen,
- 18:00Speaker 4: whether he plays as a ten right now, it's just
- 18:03Speaker 4: not happening for him. It's not really happening for Chelsea
- 18:06Speaker 4: overall as a team, and Sam is right. The only
- 18:08Speaker 4: thing that could make you doubt is that after the
- 18:10Speaker 4: Spurs game at the weekend they will play Wolves and
- 18:14Speaker 4: Bernie Wolves are terrible, I mean as in the bottom
- 18:16Speaker 4: of the table terrible, and and you know Burnley are
- 18:19Speaker 4: still Burnlee, who played Arsenal this weekend for example, coming up,
- 18:23Speaker 4: So maybe in the bottom three when they play Chelsea.
- 18:25Speaker 4: That's the only reason why you should think maybe Benching
- 18:28Speaker 4: for that Spurs game and then start him, giving him
- 18:30Speaker 4: a last chance. But other than that, really there's nothing
- 18:33Speaker 4: we've seen in the last few weeks that deserves him
- 18:35Speaker 4: to be in your team.
- 18:36Speaker 1: Really, who's the obvious replacement, because you could go Jean
- 18:40Speaker 1: Felipe Mattetta, you could go Wall Tomato as well, or
- 18:43Speaker 1: you could even go cheaper some.
- 18:46Speaker 2: Yeah, I mean absolutely.
- 18:47Speaker 3: I mean I think if you haven't got Mateta, given
- 18:50Speaker 3: the fixtures that they have coming up from this week,
- 18:52Speaker 3: Matteta is the obvious replacement. Matesta's also had more big
- 18:56Speaker 3: chances than Jae Peger has had shots over the course
- 18:58Speaker 3: of this season, which is mad. When I read that,
- 19:00Speaker 3: I was like, that is actually mad that jo Pago
- 19:03Speaker 3: would have less shots than Mateta's have big chances. So
- 19:06Speaker 3: I think if you don't have I mean, I know
- 19:08Speaker 3: that we all know that I love Jean Felipe Mattetta,
- 19:10Speaker 3: but if you don't like I do think he is
- 19:12Speaker 3: probably the best buy.
- 19:15Speaker 2: Volta model. I still really like.
- 19:16Speaker 3: I like him a lot, and I think the Newcastle
- 19:18Speaker 3: fixtures are also great, so you can go there if
- 19:20Speaker 3: you don't have him either of those two. But you're
- 19:22Speaker 3: right colts like I don't think it's too ridiculous to go, well,
- 19:26Speaker 3: I'll come right down and take a load of money
- 19:29Speaker 3: out of it. Like Creepy Jr. How long we get
- 19:31Speaker 3: with him starting?
- 19:32Speaker 1: It remains to him in my World Cup because I
- 19:35Speaker 1: didn't want it remains to be seen.
- 19:38Speaker 3: And I think you know, if if you've already played
- 19:40Speaker 3: your bench boost though, I don't mind the creepy junior
- 19:42Speaker 3: pick at all because you can just sit on your
- 19:44Speaker 3: bench and it's it's fine. It's taken value out of
- 19:46Speaker 3: the bench and putting in the starting eleven, which feels fine.
- 19:50Speaker 3: Maybe gear is starting to come back into the conversation
- 19:52Speaker 3: as a really really cheap option as well. I think
- 19:56Speaker 3: that there's plenty of kind of in the six and
- 19:59Speaker 3: a half through sort of seven and a half bracket
- 20:01Speaker 3: that you can go to if you've got a little
- 20:04Speaker 3: bit more money. Then I still don't think your Caress
- 20:06Speaker 3: is a bad option either, despite everyone wanting to sell him.
- 20:09Speaker 3: So I think I would hold if I had him.
- 20:12Speaker 2: Your career is yeah.
- 20:14Speaker 4: I mean, first of all, matter that I bought him
- 20:16Speaker 4: in and as you know, his parents born and bred,
- 20:18Speaker 4: so he's very special and everything. The only thing I'd
- 20:20Speaker 4: be slightly worried about is he played nineteen minutes against
- 20:25Speaker 4: Bournmouth way he's called the hat trick.
- 20:26Speaker 5: Should have had four, but it's called the hat trick.
- 20:27Speaker 4: Then he played ninety minutes against La Naka in the
- 20:30Speaker 4: Conference League. Then he played nineteen minutes against Arsenal. At
- 20:33Speaker 4: the weekend, he's on the.
- 20:34Speaker 5: Bench against Liverpool.
- 20:35Speaker 4: Okay, but those games are going to because of place
- 20:38Speaker 4: being in Europe for the first time ever, this is
- 20:41Speaker 4: going to be very, very different than anything Jeophilip Mattter
- 20:44Speaker 4: himself has gone through that the clerbing himself has gone through.
- 20:47Speaker 5: He can't keep playing nineteen minutes.
- 20:49Speaker 4: Every three days because at some point this is going
- 20:51Speaker 4: to be a bit too much even for us to
- 20:53Speaker 4: own him in the Premier League, I think. So let's
- 20:55Speaker 4: see how he manages all the game loads and all
- 20:58Speaker 4: of that, because this is a lot. I'm glad he's
- 21:00Speaker 4: on the bench for this Liverpool League up game. Then
- 21:03Speaker 4: there's Branford obviously at the weekend. Then it's Alkmaar, who
- 21:06Speaker 4: are doing really well in the division in the Netherlands.
- 21:09Speaker 4: In New yorka league again, a game that Palace have
- 21:12Speaker 4: to win because they've lost that game against Laka that
- 21:15Speaker 4: they should have never lost where he played nineteen minutes.
- 21:18Speaker 4: And the thing is you can play and Ketcha instead
- 21:20Speaker 4: of in but it's such a different profile. This team
- 21:22Speaker 4: is built for a number nine lack Mateta, not like
- 21:25Speaker 4: and Ketcher really, so you know that he has to
- 21:28Speaker 4: play a lot in those games coming up and that
- 21:30Speaker 4: can just maybe be the little thing that Rory's us
- 21:33Speaker 4: a little bit in terms of owning him in the
- 21:35Speaker 4: Premier League is that I feel if he plays too
- 21:37Speaker 4: much that that will have an impact negatively on his
- 21:40Speaker 4: performances in the Premier League.
- 21:42Speaker 1: Yeah, it's a good point, actually, isn't it that those
- 21:43Speaker 1: fixtures for Crystal Palace are going to keep coming?
- 21:47Speaker 2: But anyway, I'm your crest shows.
- 21:48Speaker 1: That's what the other thing I wanted to ask you about,
- 21:50Speaker 1: because Sam mentioned if she doesn't think he's a bad.
- 21:52Speaker 4: Pick, no, but then is there enough goals from him
- 21:58Speaker 4: now to justify the price. Obviously, that's that's that's put
- 22:03Speaker 4: in your squads to start with, because he does a
- 22:06Speaker 4: lot of things that are very good and very important
- 22:08Speaker 4: for Arsenal overall within that collective. But the goals are
- 22:12Speaker 4: still a bit a bit missing there in the league.
- 22:14Speaker 4: And I'll be okay if you know, if I was
- 22:17Speaker 4: mikel Arteta, but for us in the game, we still
- 22:19Speaker 4: need returns. And he scored two in the Champions League. Great,
- 22:23Speaker 4: but then he went to the weekend with nothing. He's
- 22:25Speaker 4: on the bench in the league of game. So you know,
- 22:27Speaker 4: let's see against Burnley on Saturday, for example, it's the
- 22:31Speaker 4: kind of game where he needs to he needs to
- 22:34Speaker 4: do something more than just helping the team out holding
- 22:37Speaker 4: up the ball, being a nuisance to the defenders and
- 22:39Speaker 4: et ceteras. Right, he needs to score in a game
- 22:41Speaker 4: like that where you know exactly what Arsenal is going
- 22:43Speaker 4: to face this low blog, very aggressive, very compact.
- 22:47Speaker 5: Not much. This is this is why they signed him
- 22:49Speaker 5: to score in games like that. Yeah, so let's see.
- 22:52Speaker 4: But I think right now, until he finds his mojo
- 22:55Speaker 4: of scoring, it's maybe a little bit early to bring
- 22:59Speaker 4: him in because I think there are other options that
- 23:01Speaker 4: are in more cheaper, cheaper one in better goals going
- 23:05Speaker 4: form only because he's in good form, it's just not
- 23:08Speaker 4: the goals are not, I think, coming regularly enough to
- 23:12Speaker 4: maybe justify him in your team.
- 23:14Speaker 2: Yeah, no, I actually agree with you there.
- 23:16Speaker 1: What about Egle Thiago Sam because he's proven popular just
- 23:19Speaker 1: sh I have two hundred thousand people have put him
- 23:20Speaker 1: in at the time of recording and he's even that
- 23:23Speaker 1: little bit cheaper than Voltemada and Mattessa.
- 23:26Speaker 2: Could he be an option?
- 23:27Speaker 3: Yeah, for sure. He's definitely somebody that I'm kind of
- 23:29Speaker 3: watching the next two I don't love. It's Palace obviously
- 23:33Speaker 3: in at weekend, and then it's Newcastle. But after that,
- 23:37Speaker 3: I think that the fixtures Arekka's, Brighton and Burnley, who
- 23:40Speaker 3: you know, neither of those defenses have been solid, so
- 23:43Speaker 3: definitely there could be goals there.
- 23:44Speaker 5: Then they've got.
- 23:45Speaker 3: Both sides of North London with Arsenal first and then Spurs,
- 23:48Speaker 3: and then after that it's Leeds Wolves and then born
- 23:51Speaker 3: with before Spurs again. So there's definitely goals in those
- 23:54Speaker 3: fixtures that they have coming up for Thiago. I do
- 23:57Speaker 3: like that Brumford are starting to kind of find their
- 24:00Speaker 3: mojo again. I think that obviously they had a difficult
- 24:03Speaker 3: sum money, lost their manager, they lost their star players too,
- 24:05Speaker 3: both of them the ones that scored all the goals
- 24:08Speaker 3: last season, so it has been a bit of a struggle.
- 24:10Speaker 3: But now they do seem to be fine in their
- 24:12Speaker 3: feet again. We're seeing the best of players like Shada,
- 24:15Speaker 3: of Dango and of Tiago. So I do think that
- 24:18Speaker 3: he is a nice option, and he comes in significantly cheaper,
- 24:21Speaker 3: as you mentioned Kells than both for Tomata and Mateta.
- 24:24Speaker 3: So if you are looking to take some money out
- 24:26Speaker 3: of that front nine because you want to invest it
- 24:28Speaker 3: in the defense, or because you want to upgrade one
- 24:30Speaker 3: of your midfielders, he does feel like a really decent option.
- 24:33Speaker 3: Plus in the difficult weeks, he is a player that
- 24:36Speaker 3: you could bench in order for you to be able
- 24:37Speaker 3: to play that back for that we've been talking about,
- 24:39Speaker 3: so you know, in the game against Arsenal in game
- 24:41Speaker 3: week fourteen, he's a relatively easy bench that week and
- 24:45Speaker 3: then play for it the back instead. So he does
- 24:47Speaker 3: make changing the formation of your team a little bit
- 24:50Speaker 3: easier because if you've got a front three that has
- 24:52Speaker 3: got you know, the players that we've been talking about,
- 24:55Speaker 3: plus Harlan in it. If you've got Val Matteta, Harlan
- 24:58Speaker 3: really difficult to bench any of them me every week.
- 25:00Speaker 3: So maybe Tiago isn't a bad option because he allows
- 25:05Speaker 3: you to move the formations easier around the fixtures.
- 25:07Speaker 1: Okay, then onto midfielders, and I really struggled actually, once
- 25:11Speaker 1: I'd put some Meno and soccer into my team. I
- 25:14Speaker 1: think there's quite a lot of variance that you can
- 25:16Speaker 1: have in your midfield, particularly if we are now going
- 25:19Speaker 1: bigger at the back. I also obviously opted to go
- 25:21Speaker 1: for the three starting forwards each week at the moment
- 25:24Speaker 1: in terms of Harlem Metteta and why did I forget
- 25:27Speaker 1: my third Voltemada very forgettab Al last week? To be fair,
- 25:32Speaker 1: I sold Rinders and I sold Kudus. Rinders is a
- 25:35Speaker 1: bit of a frustrating one, isn't he Jeels? Because I
- 25:37Speaker 1: nearly kept him purely because it was hard to find
- 25:40Speaker 1: someone else at that price point. In the end, I
- 25:41Speaker 1: actually decided to go down to Jaka, which I think
- 25:44Speaker 1: was about point seven differents and it felt weird that
- 25:47Speaker 1: I was happy to go with the Sunderland player over
- 25:48Speaker 1: at Manchester City player. That was obviously to do with
- 25:51Speaker 1: team balance, but also Rinders. We were so excited at
- 25:54Speaker 1: the start and then it's kind of fallen off a
- 25:56Speaker 1: little bit in terms of returns, hasn't it.
- 25:58Speaker 4: Yeah, you're right, he another I think some mentioned you know,
- 26:02Speaker 4: mentioned him earlier as well. It's those games with one
- 26:05Speaker 4: point two points, games where he's playing different positions, sometimes
- 26:08Speaker 4: much deeper like we saw against Ustin Billa for example,
- 26:11Speaker 4: which is frustrating because he's.
- 26:13Speaker 5: Really a box two box player. This is where he's
- 26:15Speaker 5: really good at.
- 26:15Speaker 4: That's where he was very good at for Milan, making
- 26:18Speaker 4: those runs into the box that he can't really do
- 26:20Speaker 4: when he's your deeper midfielder, and even when he plays
- 26:23Speaker 4: higher up when he does because you know, with Foden
- 26:26Speaker 4: coming back, Schecky coming back to a good level, Checky
- 26:29Speaker 4: coming back from Injurina Banado Silva, who's always going to
- 26:32Speaker 4: be a bit of Guardiola's favorite because of everything that
- 26:35Speaker 4: he's achieved for him in the club and the quality
- 26:38Speaker 4: that I can bring. I'm not even sure if Renders
- 26:40Speaker 4: is a guarantee starter anywhere that compared to maybe others
- 26:44Speaker 4: in this city team. So I think it's it's difficult
- 26:47Speaker 4: to again justify him ahead of even they can rise.
- 26:52Speaker 4: So there's even players who play deep like him who
- 26:55Speaker 4: are bringing more points to their team, Like I see
- 26:57Speaker 4: the don't rise.
- 26:59Speaker 5: So yeah, I think if you have Ryander, it's probably
- 27:01Speaker 5: time to say goodbye.
- 27:02Speaker 2: What about cudis Sam? How genuinely how is he?
- 27:09Speaker 1: I have struggled to sell him because I was like, actually,
- 27:13Speaker 1: he looks like he has got returns for us, but
- 27:15Speaker 1: he looks like you should be getting even more. And
- 27:17Speaker 1: as you, I think you said it to me on
- 27:18Speaker 1: last week's show, He's probably been your best second player,
- 27:20Speaker 1: hasn't he really of late? But unfortunately for me, part
- 27:23Speaker 1: of it was well I can actually spend point two
- 27:26Speaker 1: cheaper and kind of use that point to elsewhere, and
- 27:29Speaker 1: I just don't is he the best player at that
- 27:30Speaker 1: kind of price bracket.
- 27:33Speaker 3: He's been so frustrating, honestly the last couple of weeks,
- 27:35Speaker 3: in particular backing you know, game week Hate. We had
- 27:40Speaker 3: the Mickey Vanderven assisting him goal that got ruled out
- 27:43Speaker 3: for offside. The week before, he should have had a brace,
- 27:46Speaker 3: had one off the cross bar, another one ruled out
- 27:48Speaker 3: for offside. This week again he was frustrating. The underlying
- 27:51Speaker 3: numbers were there. Again, he's been really difficult owning kudis.
- 27:56Speaker 3: Do I think he's the best pick in the six
- 27:57Speaker 3: and a half bracket, No, not really.
- 28:00Speaker 1: He's also, like I said, he's that bit above it
- 28:01Speaker 1: as well, which makes sometimes, as I realized, when you
- 28:04Speaker 1: haven't got great team Valley's sometimes hard to find it.
- 28:06Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 28:07Speaker 3: Absolutely, And I think you know when you look at
- 28:09Speaker 3: where you could go and the other players that you
- 28:12Speaker 3: could have. I mean we briefly mentioned Declan Rice last week.
- 28:14Speaker 3: If you haven't got those extra Arsenal players and you
- 28:17Speaker 3: do want to cheap weigh in. I think he's a
- 28:19Speaker 3: decent option. I think there's plenty Like Ishmaelasa, I really
- 28:22Speaker 3: like that pick when you made that on World card. Like,
- 28:25Speaker 3: I know, we didn't do anything for you last week.
- 28:26Speaker 3: I don't think you were really expecting him to against Arsenal.
- 28:30Speaker 3: You didn't pick him for that game. You picked him
- 28:32Speaker 3: for the ones that they now have coming up in
- 28:34Speaker 3: the future, So you know, I think he's a really
- 28:37Speaker 3: decent option. We talked about Brentford, like the Brentford boys
- 28:40Speaker 3: are cheaper and you know, fixtures or right, maybe they're
- 28:43Speaker 3: not as nice. But then suppose I've got a real
- 28:44Speaker 3: mixed bag of fixtures coming up over the next few weeks.
- 28:47Speaker 3: It's not exactly like Spurs. I've got brilliant fixtures. It's
- 28:49Speaker 3: Chelsea up next and it's Manchester United or they're both
- 28:52Speaker 3: home games. But then we've got to go to the
- 28:55Speaker 3: Emirates to play Arsenal, which won't be fun. After that
- 28:57Speaker 3: it's full of Newcastle, Brentford for Liverpool. Who knows by
- 29:01Speaker 3: the time we get to Forest and Liverpool what kind
- 29:02Speaker 3: of teams they will be. All right, at the moment
- 29:05Speaker 3: they look like good opportunities to score points, but will
- 29:07Speaker 3: they be you know, six seven, eight games down the line,
- 29:09Speaker 3: who knows? So no, I mean, I think for me,
- 29:13Speaker 3: I kept kept him on wild card. The plan was
- 29:15Speaker 3: to keep him for a couple of weeks and then
- 29:16Speaker 3: probably looked at me. I him on. I think I've
- 29:19Speaker 3: got other things I want to do though, so I'll
- 29:21Speaker 3: probably end up keeping him. He'll be one of those
- 29:22Speaker 3: players probably that sticks around longer than he should, because
- 29:26Speaker 3: I do think that there are better options in that
- 29:28Speaker 3: price point.
- 29:28Speaker 5: But you know, good on, I don't mind. I don't mind.
- 29:32Speaker 4: Mohammed Kuduz all I would say is that Joe flipping
- 29:36Speaker 4: Pollinia as as many points as Mohammed kudus in your team,
- 29:40Speaker 4: and of course you're one point three million less.
- 29:41Speaker 3: And it's been significantly better. To be fair, like, he's
- 29:45Speaker 3: been really good when he's been playing.
- 29:47Speaker 1: If you if you look at their total points, it
- 29:49Speaker 1: depends on which point you owned them Juels, so you
- 29:51Speaker 1: might have owned kudos.
- 29:52Speaker 4: For course, You're right. I think I think he is
- 29:58Speaker 4: a very interesting player to you have. I'm just thinking
- 30:01Speaker 4: it's still owned I think by over thirty five percent
- 30:04Speaker 4: of the of the manager thirty three percent, which I
- 30:07Speaker 4: think is still a lot considering it's a bit hit and.
- 30:09Speaker 5: Miss in certain in terms of return.
- 30:10Speaker 4: I know, you know there's there's there's good things that
- 30:13Speaker 4: he does in games for Spurs, for sure, and sometimes
- 30:16Speaker 4: he feels that he's the only one creating something more
- 30:19Speaker 4: than Chavis Simmons or Johnson or Audebert or Tellor, whoever
- 30:22Speaker 4: you want. I just I just think that again, there
- 30:25Speaker 4: are so many good options. Even somebody like like and Bomo,
- 30:29Speaker 4: who is obviously much more expensive than than Kuduso, is
- 30:33Speaker 4: now hitting the ground running really and he's doing really
- 30:36Speaker 4: well for this United team that is improving.
- 30:38Speaker 5: So if you look at even somebody like Bomo, who's
- 30:40Speaker 5: now I.
- 30:40Speaker 4: Think is the second best midfielder in the game in
- 30:43Speaker 4: terms of points, you think, I think that makes you
- 30:46Speaker 4: think twice about somebody like Kudus and the hit and
- 30:48Speaker 4: miss return.
- 30:50Speaker 2: As well.
- 30:51Speaker 1: I was going to say, do we need to start
- 30:53Speaker 1: looking at them now, Sam, because I mean, I know
- 30:55Speaker 1: it's it's early days, but this is probably the best
- 30:57Speaker 1: man United we've seen for a while in terms of
- 30:59Speaker 1: starting to strong results together and players returning.
- 31:02Speaker 3: Yeah, whether we see the consistency remains to be seen,
- 31:05Speaker 3: because we've had this before with them, where they've had
- 31:07Speaker 3: a couple of good results and then they've gone regressed
- 31:09Speaker 3: a little bit. So whether we get like constant continuity
- 31:13Speaker 3: of good performances, we'll see. But you know, if you
- 31:15Speaker 3: roll the ticker from game week ten through to game
- 31:17Speaker 3: week nineteen and then it's world card Manchester United a top.
- 31:20Speaker 3: The fixtures are nice, there's a lot of green in there.
- 31:21Speaker 3: There's a lot of decent fixtures. I think over the
- 31:24Speaker 3: last few weeks we've basically been saying, well, if you're
- 31:27Speaker 3: going to have Manchester United, it has to be Bruno
- 31:29Speaker 3: and there isn't really another option, but there are other
- 31:31Speaker 3: options now as Geors mentioned, and the fixtures are actually
- 31:34Speaker 3: there for defensive picks as well. You know, if you
- 31:37Speaker 3: wanted to go for a shore even a goalkeeper, if
- 31:40Speaker 3: you're on the hump for a new cheap goalkeeper, I thought,
- 31:43Speaker 3: you know, you looked good last week. So yeah, with
- 31:46Speaker 3: Manchester United, then Spurs, Everton Palace, west Ham Wolfs decent
- 31:50Speaker 3: fixtures for Manchester United, I think we are going to
- 31:52Speaker 3: have to start turning our attention there. The problem for
- 31:54Speaker 3: me is that Cudises. I've had him since the beginning,
- 31:56Speaker 3: so I've taken the price rises with him, but he's
- 31:58Speaker 3: still not enough of a price wise for me to
- 32:01Speaker 3: be able to just move him across to Enbomo. So
- 32:04Speaker 3: it's a tough own because of the price point that
- 32:06Speaker 3: he comes in at, because you have got so many
- 32:09Speaker 3: decent options in the kind of six and a half
- 32:10Speaker 3: to seven brackets, so looking for those kind of more
- 32:14Speaker 3: expensive midfielders is a tough one, particularly if you're going
- 32:16Speaker 3: to go for an expensive frontline, unless you do what
- 32:18Speaker 3: we talked about earlier and have Tiago instead, and then
- 32:20Speaker 3: it's much easier.
- 32:22Speaker 2: Are you considering any United players ruels.
- 32:24Speaker 4: Yeah, and Bomo is the one really, And you know,
- 32:26Speaker 4: if we start talking about Semenio, who has had back
- 32:29Speaker 4: to back blanks right now, which is maybe not in
- 32:34Speaker 4: the form that he was at at the start of
- 32:36Speaker 4: the season. Semniu is seven point seven million and Bonmore
- 32:39Speaker 4: is eight point two. So there's not much there for
- 32:41Speaker 4: you to switch from Semenual to and Bomo if you've
- 32:43Speaker 4: got a bit of money in the bank, if you
- 32:44Speaker 4: can have another free transfer and find some money there
- 32:47Speaker 4: to switch from Semenial to and Bomo, especially maybe after
- 32:50Speaker 4: the Spurs game, because I still think Spurs will be
- 32:53Speaker 4: tricky for United, but after that it's looking really good
- 32:56Speaker 4: for United. So if you see that kind of improvement,
- 33:00Speaker 4: like Sam said that, they don't go back to that
- 33:02Speaker 4: kind of inconsistency that we saw even last season where
- 33:05Speaker 4: they were good in the top games and then maybe
- 33:07Speaker 4: not so good in the game that you expected them
- 33:09Speaker 4: to be good, then I think and Bomo is the best.
- 33:12Speaker 4: It's the best asset to have from the United team.
- 33:14Speaker 5: I think.
- 33:15Speaker 1: Yeah, I wish I wasn't particularly looking for them last week,
- 33:19Speaker 1: but now when I think about love, maybe maybe it
- 33:21Speaker 1: should have been But like you said, Sam, love.
- 33:23Speaker 5: Your world, can't do you still have your world? Can't?
- 33:27Speaker 2: I'm going to wait a couple of weeks.
- 33:29Speaker 1: I'm going to give them time, and then once I
- 33:31Speaker 1: played my bench boost, I'll be able to maybe play
- 33:33Speaker 1: around and maybe I will go away from my formation,
- 33:35Speaker 1: and then I'll have some extra money. Okay, we're running
- 33:37Speaker 1: out of time, so just defenders very quickly. The Palace defense.
- 33:41Speaker 1: I think a lot of people want investment in Richards
- 33:43Speaker 1: is an injury that I think he's not playing tonight.
- 33:46Speaker 1: Glasa hasn't ruled him out of game week ten just yet,
- 33:48Speaker 1: so fingers crossed.
- 33:50Speaker 2: But do we need to go that? Do we need
- 33:52Speaker 2: to pay the extra for muon ors?
- 33:53Speaker 3: Some since I sold him, he's been brilliant, and I
- 33:58Speaker 3: think you know worth the extra if you can afford it.
- 34:01Speaker 3: But I do think that you don't need to spend
- 34:03Speaker 3: it like Laqui. If you've had Laqua since the beginning,
- 34:05Speaker 3: is offered incredible value for money. Saying with Mark Gay,
- 34:08Speaker 3: he I think Gay he's taking so many price rises
- 34:13Speaker 3: now that actually is kind of like in that same
- 34:15Speaker 3: conversation as Laquirre, and it's like it's difficult so really,
- 34:18Speaker 3: if you do want to go cheaper, it has to
- 34:19Speaker 3: be richer, and then you should probably wait for the
- 34:21Speaker 3: weekend to see where we are with him in his
- 34:23Speaker 3: fitness levels. But I do not have a Palace defender,
- 34:26Speaker 3: and that run of fixtures that they have coming up,
- 34:29Speaker 3: not having one feels awful. Can I bring myself to
- 34:33Speaker 3: sell Mickey van Derven on the back of a twenty
- 34:35Speaker 3: three point hall? But I do feel like I need
- 34:38Speaker 3: to invest in Crystal Palace Defense for sure. Even pondered
- 34:42Speaker 3: on is it better to downgrade the goalkeeper and go
- 34:45Speaker 3: to move over to Sean Henderson instead and do it
- 34:48Speaker 3: that way? But yeah, I can't. I'm not going to
- 34:50Speaker 3: be a had off with me, is the reality, unless
- 34:52Speaker 3: I'm happy to burn a slot elsewhere. So I'm probably
- 34:55Speaker 3: going to have to look at one of the slightly
- 34:57Speaker 3: cheaper options at Palace, which is I might wait an
- 35:00Speaker 3: extra week just to see where Richards is okay.
- 35:03Speaker 1: Other defenders, I mean, I think at this point, if
- 35:05Speaker 1: you are in Virgil van Dyke, I think probably you'll
- 35:08Speaker 1: be selling, might you?
- 35:09Speaker 5: Gosh, well, you've considered a lot of gors if you
- 35:11Speaker 5: own him?
- 35:12Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, I don't know many people that still own him,
- 35:14Speaker 1: but there will be people that do in the hope
- 35:17Speaker 1: that Liverpool pick up again because those fixtures are great,
- 35:19Speaker 1: but yeah, it doesn't feel at the time to go there.
- 35:21Speaker 1: And kouk career is an interesting one because there's a
- 35:23Speaker 1: lot of upside with him Joels, but we just and
- 35:26Speaker 1: Chelsea have been pretty consistent. Then you saw at the
- 35:28Speaker 1: weekend they still have bizarre results in they're not bizarre
- 35:31Speaker 1: so brilliant, but at home you'd have expected them to win.
- 35:34Speaker 5: The absolutely yeah, and the ninth in the table for
- 35:37Speaker 5: a reason as well.
- 35:37Speaker 4: It's because they just can't put that kind of run
- 35:40Speaker 4: together and as important as it could be going forward
- 35:43Speaker 4: with the boards, only defensively they have moments where they
- 35:47Speaker 4: just not very good and then concede goals. So if
- 35:49Speaker 4: he doesn't return going forward, which he's done regularly. Last season,
- 35:53Speaker 4: I think he had seven or eight goals in the
- 35:54Speaker 4: Premi League Lasteason something like that, maybe six, and already
- 35:57Speaker 4: started well this season. If they don't, if that doesn't happen,
- 36:01Speaker 4: then defensively you can't. You can't bank on them keep
- 36:04Speaker 4: it in cheap because they don't. They don't usually do,
- 36:06Speaker 4: so you end up with Sanchez with one point, Colla
- 36:09Speaker 4: with one or two points. Def Cone is not really
- 36:11Speaker 4: his thing either because he's so attacking. So yeah, I
- 36:14Speaker 4: think it's a difficult one if you're in Korea, whether
- 36:17Speaker 4: you keep him or or let him.
- 36:18Speaker 1: Go, sorry defenders him away. We haven't spent much time
- 36:20Speaker 1: when you put running out of time what we did. Actually,
- 36:22Speaker 1: we spoke about defenders a bit at the beginning, didn't
- 36:25Speaker 1: when we all said they're great, So it's fine. A
- 36:26Speaker 1: differential of the week. Congratulations both got returned. Someone with
- 36:29Speaker 1: Creepy Jr. Changed up the world back. Unfortunately neither one though,
- 36:33Speaker 1: because you both got exactly the same.
- 36:34Speaker 2: As six points gone.
- 36:37Speaker 1: I'm gonna let listeners into a little secret. Normally Sam
- 36:39Speaker 1: comes armed with many Before the record you're asking Jewels
- 36:42Speaker 1: who he'd got.
- 36:42Speaker 2: And I was like, no, no, this is how it works.
- 36:44Speaker 2: So because of that, Jewels, you can go first.
- 36:47Speaker 4: Oh great, My big this week is Wilson Easydoor from Sunderland.
- 36:52Speaker 4: One because he's French obviously and very handsome as all
- 36:56Speaker 4: frenchmen are, and.
- 36:57Speaker 5: Two because he's in great form. Guys is in really
- 37:00Speaker 5: good form.
- 37:00Speaker 4: Six goals already for him in this wonderful Sunderland team
- 37:03Speaker 4: that fourth in the table. Nobody saw that one coming,
- 37:05Speaker 4: not even Magic Lebries on the bench. Only on by
- 37:10Speaker 4: three point three percent of the manager. So that's a
- 37:11Speaker 4: proper differential, not not like the one that Sam picks
- 37:14Speaker 4: at nine percent nine point five percent nine point nine.
- 37:17Speaker 2: Month less than yours.
- 37:19Speaker 3: Thank you six.
- 37:22Speaker 4: I can't read even how much it costs you, but
- 37:24Speaker 4: maybe five point six.
- 37:25Speaker 5: Don't know I wrote, I wrote these bad. Okay, they've got.
- 37:27Speaker 2: Arsenal joan to be quick.
- 37:32Speaker 4: Yeah, sorry, hang onton Everton this weekend at home at
- 37:38Speaker 4: the Stadium of Like, this should be fun and it's
- 37:40Speaker 4: always is really great, So go and sign him.
- 37:43Speaker 2: I'd advise people check his fixtures because I'm not sure.
- 37:46Speaker 5: I'm sure, I just yeah, I could not read what
- 37:48Speaker 5: I wrote.
- 37:49Speaker 1: Available on the Fantasy dot Premier League dot com website. Sam,
- 37:53Speaker 1: which which flower are you going with?
- 37:56Speaker 2: I've got care on tripiter for you this week.
- 37:58Speaker 3: So he's going to cost you five million his own
- 38:00Speaker 3: owned by two point seven percent as so you know,
- 38:02Speaker 3: less owned than yours, A big differential, so you know, yeah,
- 38:06Speaker 3: he's created fourteen chances for Newcastle. That's the most in
- 38:09Speaker 3: the Newcastle team He's also supplied forty crosses so far
- 38:13Speaker 3: this season. Again that's team leading, and of those sixteen
- 38:16Speaker 3: have been successful. Again that's team leading. They've kept five
- 38:19Speaker 3: clean sheets this season. Only Arsenal have more, and only
- 38:22Speaker 3: Arsenal have a better x she see as well than Newcastle.
- 38:25Speaker 5: So you know.
- 38:26Speaker 3: Everything is there for This is why I picnic Pope
- 38:29Speaker 3: like everything is there for Newcastle clean sheet and attacking
- 38:32Speaker 3: returns for him, especially as you know they've got a
- 38:36Speaker 3: decent one of fixtures. So as west Ham up next,
- 38:39Speaker 3: I would expect a Newcastle winning that one. So should
- 38:42Speaker 3: be potentially both ends at the.
- 38:44Speaker 2: Pitch, transfers and captains what you're doing.
- 38:47Speaker 3: So I am going to wait up and watch the
- 38:52Speaker 3: watch what happens, just to make sure that John Philip
- 38:55Speaker 3: Matesta doesn't do anything to himself from the bench. Hopefully
- 38:57Speaker 3: he stays there for the entire game and if he does,
- 39:00Speaker 3: be doing Je Pedro to Matteta as one of my
- 39:03Speaker 3: free transfers. I've got two because I made three transfers
- 39:07Speaker 3: last week, so I still got two. I don't think
- 39:10Speaker 3: I'll make another one. I think I'll wait it out
- 39:12Speaker 3: for a Palace defender for the week after and just
- 39:14Speaker 3: give myself time to work out what's going on with
- 39:16Speaker 3: Richard's tours.
- 39:19Speaker 4: I'm good for transfers and I keep I wrote it
- 39:21Speaker 4: on the thing with captain is it becomes a bit difficult.
- 39:24Speaker 5: Highland at home to Bournemouth.
- 39:25Speaker 4: Okay, yeah, potentially Bournemouth the way they play they will
- 39:28Speaker 4: be will be an open game. But Saca Burnley is
- 39:32Speaker 4: tempting for the made at west Ham because it's west
- 39:35Speaker 4: Ham and then all my goods, it's very tempted as well,
- 39:39Speaker 4: and to be fair, so is Mateta at home to
- 39:41Speaker 4: Branford for Palace.
- 39:42Speaker 5: So there's a lot of options really this thing. And
- 39:45Speaker 5: you know what I think, just to.
- 39:47Speaker 4: Go back as a as the loop about defenders quickly,
- 39:51Speaker 4: the defender is so good decision that you could even
- 39:54Speaker 4: think about captaining a defender a Gabriella, you know, a
- 39:57Speaker 4: way of Burnley potential clean sheet on set piece because
- 40:01Speaker 4: Arsenal could well broke the Deadlocke in that game on
- 40:04Speaker 4: said pieces. I think Gabriela's captain away Burnie is not
- 40:07Speaker 4: a bad idea either.
- 40:08Speaker 2: Will you do it?
- 40:09Speaker 6: Though you have you have to listen next week and
- 40:14Speaker 6: find out, Sam I do do you want to do
- 40:20Speaker 6: you want to bed let's bet I'm.
- 40:23Speaker 5: Doing now, I do it, now, let's do it.
- 40:25Speaker 2: But you'll change it just before the day.
- 40:27Speaker 4: I swear to you is my captain, I confirm, yeah, No, No,
- 40:34Speaker 4: I won't change.
- 40:34Speaker 5: I swear to you I won't change captain.
- 40:36Speaker 1: To be fair, I don't disagree that it is it's about,
- 40:39Speaker 1: but I think it's a brilliant pair.
- 40:40Speaker 5: I agree.
- 40:41Speaker 3: I just didn't think you do. It's a fair play
- 40:42Speaker 3: sam on between Baltimoto and Socker. To be honest, I've
- 40:45Speaker 3: been backward and forwards between those two a week. I
- 40:48Speaker 3: don't think Harlan's a bad captains option, but I do
- 40:50Speaker 3: think Bourne with a decent offensively, so I don't think
- 40:53Speaker 3: you're riot against them. And we've already seen him blank
- 40:55Speaker 3: last week. So Sacer, I don't know at the minute
- 40:59Speaker 3: at the moment, but it's been on the bus team
- 41:01Speaker 3: on soccer all week, so maybe I'll leave it with him.
- 41:04Speaker 3: I do like that fixture away at Bernie, but then
- 41:06Speaker 3: I do prefer at west Ham. With the way that
- 41:09Speaker 3: west Ham I.
- 41:10Speaker 2: Just keep replaying that miss in my head.
- 41:13Speaker 5: I know, I know, well you know it can happen.
- 41:17Speaker 1: Yeah, and I can and both of them, both of
- 41:19Speaker 1: them being good form. To be fair, it's nice, actually,
- 41:21Speaker 1: isn't it when there's a bit of variance on captains
- 41:23Speaker 1: and we're potentially going to go with something different and okay,
- 41:26Speaker 1: that's where we'll leave it. George is in a hotel lobby.
- 41:28Speaker 1: Whereabouts are you at the moment.
- 41:30Speaker 5: In Spain in front of on toura?
- 41:32Speaker 2: Lovely you get back to here.
- 41:34Speaker 5: We're very good this week.
- 41:36Speaker 2: Congratulations to them. It means it's going to be rubbish
- 41:38Speaker 2: this week.
- 41:39Speaker 1: And Sam, you're in Dubai continuing the longest birthday ever celebrations.
- 41:42Speaker 3: Correct, that is correct. I have milk to this for
- 41:46Speaker 3: all it's worth.
- 41:47Speaker 1: Yeah, well, I enjoyed the last few days of milking it.
- 41:50Speaker 1: You both have great holidays. I'm going to be in
- 41:53Speaker 1: rainy London. A reminder, it's a Saturday afternoon deadline. I
