- 0:00All right, so we welcome guys. What's going on. This is Exodus
- 0:04Rising. We're here with Heavy mag one of the best in the in the
- 0:08business, one of the best in the industry. We're here with Chris Peters.
- 0:12Uh, we got Casey Bonnet. That's Kenyon going on. We got
- 0:16we got Charlie Charlie. We also have mister Sargent, Zabata, Chris Zappa
- 0:23and I am Jay Slate was a fantastic hitch, right, might not?
- 0:27I don't have to do anything with Digo is on boarders, right, everybody
- 0:34hated I gentlemen to talk about your life at single that dropped just last week
- 0:38called The Fall, So it hasn't been a very long but that's an early
- 0:41response plane. Now. Yeah, everybody's been been receiving the music and the
- 0:46video especially very very very very well. This is the definitely from from what
- 0:52we got going on in it. We included two songs from the album initially,
- 0:56and we included our overture because it added it added a lot of more
- 1:00depth into it. And then we just decided to just throw in an extra
- 1:03interlude into it and put like an anime style type of type of feeling breath
- 1:08a lot more, a lot more life, and a lot more modernity to
- 1:15it, definitely, But the response has been massive. Bro, haven't gotten
- 1:18one person saying like dude, this is this is kick ass. So well,
- 1:25we've got a favorite to get to you surrounding that one song. But
- 1:26I'll start off with, like you mentioned the two previous songs that you have
- 1:30released, which is Blazing Love and Paradise Loss. So how does it fallen
- 1:34different musically? I guess to those two previous singles, so for for the
- 1:40past two singles. So for Paradise Lost, that was a power metal song
- 1:44that was definitely full power metal, included everything within our diverse repertoire, within
- 1:49our within our album which showed would showcase symphonics, theatrical elements and then the
- 1:56power and then the classic power metal elements to it as well. For Blazing
- 2:00Love, that's more that was more of a ballad, a very a heavier
- 2:05ballad, one one that was showing showing love and a different side of of
- 2:08that, keeping it a little bit more in tempo to prepare people to maneuver
- 2:14throughout the remainder of the album. For the for the Fallen, we included
- 2:20two songs with that there's a lot it's very theatrical and cinematic and shout out
- 2:23to Chris he's been holding it down heavy with that. We includes this the
- 2:29cinematic aspect of how we want to approach our music, which is like we
- 2:34want it. We want it to feel like you're in a movie and you
- 2:35feel like you're in a story and you're in you're in a place of space
- 2:38and time that you're like, wow, you gotta get in it. And
- 2:42for the Fallen As it's single itself, it's it's it's metal, but it's
- 2:46more leaning towards the hard rock elements of everything in it. Right. Good,
- 2:53Now, we mentioned those three songs, so just say someone's listen,
- 2:55listen, I've never heard of Exodus Rising before. Like, which one of
- 2:59those three singles was your advice? I listened to you to get tonight the
- 3:02band a bit better, all of them. That's the main answer. Yes,
- 3:09So no, I mean every song that's been coming out, it's just
- 3:15been more it's been more like, Okay, you want to get you want
- 3:19to get to know what we are. Each song has been evolving for that.
- 3:23A good intro song would be will be to go with Paradise Lost.
- 3:27That's a very good intro song. If you want to get something that's like
- 3:30somewhat in the middle, I would say third will be Blazing Love. But
- 3:32if you want to put one, put number one, I would say right
- 3:37now, the Fallen. It shows everything what we got right now, and
- 3:39it keeps it and it keeps it as a classic in a in a classic
- 3:43metal space. All right, guys, I just walked in because I couldn't
- 3:47get in for some reason. Good morning to you. How are you?
- 3:53I'm very well, thank you, good saying yourself good good, good kids.
- 3:57So finally I try to get in. So what am I losing here?
- 4:00What am I missing? Oh? Jad's has taken over the whole show
- 4:02and he's explained everything. So show he's done a stelling job. Well thank
- 4:11god for that somebody did. But we've basically just been talking about the single
- 4:17I Guess and and the other two that you're released and where they stand in
- 4:21reference to the album. But the new single, The Fallen is taken from
- 4:26your debut album and the Book of Life, and it's one of many songs
- 4:29with biblical connections and connotations through it. So tell us a bit more about
- 4:32the fallen specifically and what it's about. All right, Charlie, you want
- 4:38to take off talking too much. Well, the song, the song actually
- 4:45supposed to be What's Up, Kenny. The song is actually supposed to be
- 4:48the it's supposed to be the first song on the album. Okay, we
- 4:54didn't put it in the first song on the album because before everything happened,
- 4:59the end just have fallen from heaven and you know, then comes Genesis and
- 5:03then comes everything else. But we wanted to put it at this point next
- 5:10Revelation because we want people to see what is it that transform to end up
- 5:17in Revelation. Do you understand what I mean? It's almost like Star Wars
- 5:21Backwards, the same concept as Star Wars Backwards, you know. So the
- 5:29song is actually about the angels falling from heaven, Lucifer going into becoming rebellious
- 5:34with God, and it repeats in Revelation again, it repeats the war coming
- 5:43and the war that was. Okay, so that's what the Falling is about.
- 5:47It's about the devil thinking he's gonna win, but he lost the ready
- 5:54very cool. Now, we touched on this a little bit before, but
- 5:58the Falling comes with an awesome extended music video. So tell us a bit
- 6:00more about that and how much time went into making because visually it's stunning and
- 6:05it's like it's it's educational, it's entertaining, it's it's it's all of the
- 6:10above without being too much of anything. So now I don't I don't take
- 6:15credit for that one. I want to give all the credit to where credit
- 6:20is due. Because Jay, that man said for four days, fifty to
- 6:27sixteen hour days doing the cartoon, mostly doing the cartoons. He had a
- 6:32swim pool in front of him and once in a while he jumped in,
- 6:36but back again to coffee and the cartoons. For every three seconds of the
- 6:41editing of those cartoons or animate cartoons, it took him one hour for every
- 6:46three seconds. So you put it. If you have forty seconds, you
- 6:48already know how much. Bro. It was brutal, Bro it was.
- 6:55It was punishment for him. Yeah, and then less. That's besides you
- 7:01editing. That's besides you editing and us filming a video at the same consecutive
- 7:10Yeah, Yo, dude, it was, it was. It was.
- 7:15It came out so good in the end because you like, like just picking
- 7:18back them off of what Charlie was saying, because initially what we're gonna do,
- 7:21I was trying to see if this was going to make sense on what
- 7:25we're going to do on including the overture. So I created like its own
- 7:29visual portion of it and and it and it went through a lot of changes
- 7:33throughout while we were getting this together. And then I'm like, okay,
- 7:35maybe I could put this and then add to the song and in the like
- 7:40in the in the aftermath of it, I'm like, now that's too that's
- 7:44too quick. I want something to like lead up into it. And then
- 7:47and then after editing at shoot, after editing going back and forth, back
- 7:50and forth, back and forth, and then again going down to Florida,
- 7:53I added doing all those the animations for the U for the pictures to make
- 7:59it look like it's moving, because those are still photos, dude, those
- 8:01aren't real real like movements like those are like, you know, little programs
- 8:05to help it make it look move but like you gotta make it, you
- 8:07gotta sell it. So after that then boom boom, boom boom, one
- 8:15after another, and yeah, we were and we were recording on top of
- 8:16that too. We had to do we didn't have any bass or any other
- 8:20extra leads on top of that. So we're like, we gotta gotta do
- 8:24we in sight, we found an on the ground cave with a hole on
- 8:31top of the cave that was probably I don't know, I say it was
- 8:35about forty feet fifty feet why in a circle. And to get to the
- 8:41cave with all the equipment, it was at least a mile. We get
- 8:46to carried equipment through sand to get to the cave through sand. Already we
- 8:52see we see yourself through a hole with all the guitars and all the equipment
- 8:56going down to the cave. That in the lights set and everything. And
- 9:01then after we shot more videos in the outside and the inside of the cave
- 9:07and the outside of the cave, we almost killed ourselves with smoke because we
- 9:11turned on the fire smoked, we smoked out the cave. It was it
- 9:16was painful, you got it. It was not only that, not only
- 9:22that was clippery to the rocks to go. It wasn't adventure, needless needless
- 9:31to say, it wasn't adventure. And then and then finished there we kept
- 9:35on uh for our next video. We got swords that go on fire,
- 9:39real fire, litt up swords and the fight between Jesus and Lucifer at the
- 9:45end of the day when when Jesus comes in a white horse and his stickle
- 9:50and the stick was full of fire. We have those cuts practical vacation.
- 10:01Why that was a lot of work for everybody. It sounds like well I
- 10:05was going to say, like, like before you told me that story,
- 10:07I was going to say that it's very impressive what you've done with the video,
- 10:11but after hearing that, it's even more so. But it raises another
- 10:13point too, you know, like us to put so much into the film
- 10:16clip like you could have easily half asked it, you know, knock something
- 10:18up that would have would have been adequate, but not that good. But
- 10:22so how important, I guess is a visual component to your music as well.
- 10:28It's equally as important as the music. I mean, you heard the
- 10:31music. The music is recorded very well. We put a lot of time
- 10:35and efforts into the music. Why are we going to show change it with
- 10:39the video. Is if the video is not apart with the music, then
- 10:43it makes no sense to make the video. It has to be equally as
- 10:46good as the music. So this man is a man of creative individuals.
- 10:52That you know, because I'm the producer for the band. I do the
- 10:56mixing, I do the recording, and Jay that's the visual of the band
- 11:01and the technological part of the band, and everybody chips in. Everybody,
- 11:07you know, that's what they do, and it's pretty interesting. It's been
- 11:11a blessed a band that has been blessed from the beginning. I don't know
- 11:16what else to say. It's it's been good. Oh. The ball is
- 11:22taken from your debut album, The Book of Life, which came out in
- 11:24August last year. Like, that's nine months ago that album came out,
- 11:28and the fact that you're still putting the singles out now shows the strength,
- 11:33I guess of the material on the album. But how has it been received
- 11:35overall as a debut? Like? Are you happy with how it's how it's
- 11:39connected with people? I think I overheard Jay say a little a little while
- 11:45ago when I was having problems that the respond has been amazing. The video
- 11:50has been out only for three days. Somebody helped me here if I if
- 11:54I'm mistaken, three or four days, right, it's been out on the
- 12:00Oh, Chris, also, it was it came out in November, not
- 12:03August. November. Yeah, I came out of November. So anyway,
- 12:09Chris, the video The Fallen came out four days ago, and we almost
- 12:13have a thousand hits already for a man who doesn't have the total backing that
- 12:18we need. So I think that's really good. We hit in a thousand
- 12:22views in four days. That's really well. That granulations. Gosh, yeah,
- 12:28that's really good. We get it like three hundred views a day.
- 12:33That's really that amazes me. Yeah. Wow. So in case people haven't
- 12:39worked out yet, guys like Exodus Rising are a Christian metal band who create
- 12:43and I quote, a groundbreaking fusion of biblical narrative and aggressive heavy metal.
- 12:48Like that that sounds great in theory, but can you elaborate on that for
- 12:52us? Like what hell? How do you combine the two together? I
- 12:56guess? And like what common love coming in one uniting force? I guess.
- 13:01Well, listen, as we know the Bible, those who knows the
- 13:05Bible and know that the Bible is a book of amazing stories and have supernatural,
- 13:09incredible Mason stories. It has love, it has murder, it has
- 13:13action, it has peacefulness, it has everything. And you're talking about I
- 13:22think it's nearly sixty chapters. You know, it's a big book. The
- 13:26story after story after story. There's no way that we could do with any
- 13:31justice to it with sixteen songs. So what we do is we first we'll
- 13:35come up with the music. The music is all put together. The music
- 13:41works, you know, that's the main thing. We come up with the
- 13:45music. Then I come up with melodies. I put the melodies down,
- 13:48and we read the chapters of the story that we want to portrayed in the
- 13:54song, and whatever chapter fits the music and the melody. Now how we
- 14:01now rate it. We use the biblical parts, but we fitted into music,
- 14:05into lyrics and now rate it as a story now. So you know,
- 14:11we go from verses to different verses, and we just concentrate in the
- 14:15meat and potatoes off the chapter of what it means, the significance of what
- 14:20we're talking about. And that's how we come up with the songs. You
- 14:24know, hold out of prayer and a whole out of divine intervention. I'll
- 14:28tell you, because the way it works, it's interesting. I don't think
- 14:33we actually delved into this that much last time we spoke, But I don't
- 14:37think it's important to stressy that You don't have to be Christian or have faith
- 14:41listening music Like I know there are people out there that go Christian music.
- 14:45I'm not listening to it. But you aren't asking anyone to renounce their faith,
- 14:48to renounce their beliefs, to conform to your way of thinking. You're
- 14:52just singing about things you believe in. And if people want to come along
- 14:54on the journey, good luck to them. You hit it on the you
- 15:00hit it in the nail. It's exactly what we want. We not.
- 15:03First of all, we're not judging people. If you're not a Christian,
- 15:05you're not a Christian. That's you believe, that's what you believed. I
- 15:07respect that you understand. We just sharing a story that you probably never heard
- 15:16from the Bible. I'll give you an example. Samson, what what amazing
- 15:20story is as equally amazing as Hercules and so and there's bands that portray Hercules
- 15:28and the songs right the Greek mythology, So why not portray an equal guy
- 15:35who for us Christians was real one hundred percent and his name was Samson.
- 15:39So that's what I'm trying to tell you. Oh, you have somebody like
- 15:43Daniel in the Lion's pit where the king's gonna throw him in the lion's pit
- 15:48for the lions to eat him. And when it comes back, it is
- 15:50patting the lions and sleeping with the lions. So what great stories are those?
- 15:56You know? So I just want people to hear them. We want
- 15:58people to wants people to hear them. If you feel convicted, amen,
- 16:03If you don't feel convicted, you know what you left. You left over
- 16:07with some amazing music and melodies right and right and along those lines of it.
- 16:14I guess like you ever conscious when writing songs, so it's not to
- 16:18become overtly preaching, like is there a line? Or you know when me
- 16:25and got you? Yeah, when me and Charlie write our write our music
- 16:30right, or like when we when we spitball to like one another, we
- 16:33we do it in in a poetic way. We try our best to be
- 16:37poetic about it. But again you have to remember as well that we are
- 16:41worshiping the Lord in this and that's and we are pulling pulling everything from the
- 16:47Bible from from the Bible, and we're reading this. They're like, what
- 16:48if we take this this sentence of the scripture and then we make it hot
- 16:52you know what I'm saying, Like, we have to. We have to
- 16:56enunciate the the the spirit in it because when you when you feel the oil
- 17:03coming on you, bro, like, that's when it that's when it really
- 17:07shows through it. Because some people can say, yeah, I've had some
- 17:11of my friends even though they're Christians and some of them are not. They're
- 17:14like the ones that are not Christians, they're like, dude, this is
- 17:15awesome, this is sick. The ones that are Christians like, oh,
- 17:18isn't this a little bit preachy or whatever? For like heavy molbum, like
- 17:21this is just the reverse response that I'm looking for. That's which I find
- 17:26impressive. But I've also find I'm like, Okay, I guess we're doing
- 17:30something right. But it's the ones that know already they're like, oh yeah,
- 17:33I can't understand why. But the ones that don't know, they they're
- 17:37all about it and they want to know more. That's how we end up
- 17:40getting to that real quick. Before Jay came to sing with the band,
- 17:44we will audition it all the singers and we're working with some great singers as
- 17:47well. Before, but their thing was always oh, it's kind of preachy,
- 17:52but how could you speak about the Bible and that worship God. Every
- 18:00sentence of the Bible worships the Lord. So it's it's actually, you know,
- 18:06it will be like a controversy not to be preaching, you understand when
- 18:11you're talking about Yeah, when you're talking about the Bible and every verse just
- 18:17worship is God and every verse, how can you not just it comes from
- 18:23the territory. Did a Striper do that? Like at one point like they
- 18:27were like Christian suit, like full on, and then they start and then
- 18:30they just changed one age. Well, Striper win very heavily Christian, and
- 18:38they were talking about biblical stories of parts and stuff that they will come up
- 18:42with themselves. And then I think, uh, there was an album that
- 18:48they're all behind bars in jail. I forgot the name of that album.
- 18:52And from that that album was not a Christian album. It's almost like it's
- 18:56almost like they through Christianity out of the window. Thing about it is that
- 19:02at that point they all fell, Straper disappeared strap It went. Now,
- 19:07how funny was that? Right? That even people who were not Christians listening
- 19:11to Straper they switched and that was that? Didn't he strip for years after
- 19:18that? You know, I can honestly say to you guys, like I've
- 19:22never had the inclination to sit down and read the Bible, but I can
- 19:25listen to your music and appreciate it, like even with the Fall, and
- 19:27like you've got that bit of scripture at the start of the song, but
- 19:32it's not too much, if that makes sense, Like it's actually it was.
- 19:36It was interesting to listen to to get that perspective without having to read
- 19:41something, if that makes sense. So it's basically coming from the point of
- 19:45view of someone not in the religion at all, but your music still works
- 19:48for me. So it's it's case in point awesome. You know we're not
- 19:55telling you, you know, listen to it or over the Bible and if
- 19:56you or listen to it, you're going to be condemned. Man, enjoy
- 20:00it. And if you your curiosity, because you know they say curiosity kills
- 20:03the cat, if you decide to open the Bible said, let me continue
- 20:07reading the story and you hook after that. Amen, the same without music
- 20:12made. I can tell you white sound the same without music. I'm not
- 20:18sure if you said it or not before, but here's an actual, an
- 20:22active touring band or are you just a studio project. Well, here's the
- 20:26thing, and we've discussed this a lot right now. This is a band
- 20:32that wild tour. But I've been playing for many years, Kenny's been playing
- 20:37for many, many years, and we know what the scene is when you
- 20:41don't have albums out there, when you don't have a big fan out there,
- 20:47a fan base out there. Yeah, we played in bands in New
- 20:49York City that drew eight hundred people, seven hundred people into a big,
- 20:53big club in New York City, I mean with the dose. And we
- 20:57did that a lot without an album. But the work was intense. We
- 21:02are we were our own roadies, we carry all our stuff, We had
- 21:06to rent fans, We went through the changes. My attitude right now is,
- 21:11yeah, we'll go to tour. If we sell five hundred thousand albums
- 21:14in Italy, we'll go be in tour in Italy. If we sell this
- 21:18place will be because thank god, because of the Internet, you could see
- 21:21your stats and where are you selling the most record So it makes sense to
- 21:26me to book where you're selling the most albums. It just doesn't make sense
- 21:33much. Yeah, and then we don't have to go through the changes to
- 21:37playing for four fans and your friends on a stage, going through the change,
- 21:42all the changes of the world to get there. So no, I
- 21:45think we in all the years I been playing music, I learned my lessons.
- 21:53Right now we're ready to go in tour. Where do we sell the
- 21:57most albums? That's that's the point. It seems to me. You guys
- 22:02have just as much fun writing and recording the music and hanging out together.
- 22:07Anyways. It is what you would if you went out on the road.
- 22:10So like it's it's not unnecessary hand in hand thing to be in a band
- 22:14and play live, you know, like it's it's okay just to just to
- 22:17be a studio band and enjoy time. But we we love playing live.
- 22:22We are playing live, man, Yeah, we love playing live. It's
- 22:26almost like keeping a lion inside the cage. We a whole bunch of liars
- 22:32kept in the case. I'd remind me not to be there when you all
- 22:34get let out. Trust me, we'll give you a show, that's for
- 22:40sure. That's good to me. What about the future for you guys,
- 22:45what's what's up next? Like, have you got any more songs coming out
- 22:47of the Book of life? Where are you going to start moving on to
- 22:49the next next? Album soon, yes, so you want to hear that?
- 22:56Yeah. So the next the next steps we got going on, we
- 23:02we are re releasing our video for Armageddon. Initially when we put it out
- 23:07on Halloween, it was cool. You wanted to just see where everybody's taste
- 23:14was at, just and it was like a very like, you know,
- 23:17very rushed, put together thing that had the basis of whatever's going on.
- 23:21But it was still a pretty dis music video. But for how you see
- 23:25out have you seen how you've seen our stuff now? It's the quality is
- 23:30just stellar. You get what I'm saying. So I want to match it,
- 23:33and I wanted to be as stellar as it is in this one.
- 23:37I want this to be the apex of what we got going on. So
- 23:38we were gonna re release our our our music video for Armageddon around the same
- 23:47hope more or less at the end of the month. It's going to be
- 23:48the same time next couple of days, right with the with the solar eclipse,
- 23:53right that's going on right now, so some scary stuff going on,
- 23:57So that's cool. Then we're going to do an EP dropping a couple drop
- 24:03a couple more songs on our on the streaming platforms. And so people can
- 24:07get more of a robust taste go around that direction and then drop our album
- 24:12from there, and then within the next like two to three months around there.
- 24:18That's our next steps. And then once once we are more or less
- 24:22settle, we're figuring out how we're gonna be practicing, how we're going to
