- 0:53Now, here are the host of The United, We scan podcast, Welcome
- 1:00back, everybody. I know it's a couple days later
- 1:03than normal but there was a few of us that were down at mid
- 1:06states over the weekends. Think we're officially on
- 1:09episode 22 this week and we've got Josh, and James and Bill
- 1:17tonight. How's it going tonight?
- 1:19Josh? It's going pretty good.
- 1:21We always wanting love him more in the post office.
- 1:26I did want to address last week when we were going over
- 1:31questions, when we're talking about the table 1 table, 2
- 1:37dates. I just wanted to clarify know,
- 1:39we did waiter in the conversation, but when I
- 1:41listened back, what I realized that I said anyone that became
- 1:45regular before November 10 or November 20th, 2010, it's
- 1:50actually anyone that was hired as an RCA prior to that date. is
- 1:56on table one, anyone hired after that, date will convert to table
- 2:02two, And I guess I just wanted to clarify that just to make
- 2:07sure. Thank you for the correction
- 2:10spreading misinformation. Oh my God.
- 2:14How you doing tonight Mill? I'm in Bill form.
- 2:23I'm doing good. I'm enjoying life.
- 2:26And I just I sit there and wonder, you know, you just can't
- 2:34get any dumber and my management goes out of their way to prove
- 2:39me wrong everyday. Yeah.
- 2:46There's got to be a bill, they take and really, that's the big.
- 2:49But other than that, I mean, you know, the weather is here in
- 2:52Pennsylvania is gorgeous. I mean, yeah, you really
- 2:55couldn't ask for anything better and, you know, life is good.
- 3:01It's just good all the way around.
- 3:04I'm happy as can be, that's awesome.
- 3:10I always know you're in a happy giggly mood.
- 3:13When you hit call me when I'm out on the route to say, You
- 3:16won't believe this, James. How you doing tonight?
- 3:24Oh, doing. All right, I mean, Wichita was
- 3:28wonderful. I love the 90 degree weather and
- 3:30then drive the 15 hours back here, and it's 50 degrees and
- 3:36foggy. Yeah, it was an interesting ride
- 3:42home for me, but yeah, it was a beautiful.
- 3:45Full Town, lots of stuff to see and do around there, even even
- 3:49later at night. The conference was very
- 3:53educational and a lot of aspects.
- 3:55There was a lot of a lot of anger in the crowd towards the
- 4:00wreck system. But overall, everybody actually
- 4:04was very respectful and very professional about it in the
- 4:09audience. So it was hats off to everybody
- 4:12that went to that and maintain composure through everything
- 4:15that way. we went on got a lot of information, passed them on
- 4:20to my carriers at the office so they could know what happened
- 4:23down there and I think it's something that if you're a rural
- 4:28carrier, you should go to your Regional conferences.
- 4:32Because not only do you get a lot of information.
- 4:35You actually have the opportunity that if you want to.
- 4:38You can actually speak with your national board at these events.
- 4:42They're actually there for us to talk to them, to ask them
- 4:45questions and things like that. So that's the best time to get
- 4:49information straight from as they say the horse's mouth.
- 4:52Other than that, it was great to see a lot of people that I From
- 4:56my first mid states and Council Bluffs, Iowa.
- 4:59You know, I'm meeting up with people that I met down the first
- 5:03one, seeing them again was great.
- 5:06And the hotel impeccable for customer service.
- 5:09They're really great Hotel. Can't say enough about them, oh,
- 5:13the hotel was awesome. I mean, the rooms were huge.
- 5:18It was that was no, it actually, it was really good.
- 5:23I mean, a lot of them from good information came out.
- 5:26Out. They unfortunately couldn't do
- 5:29all of the questions that were submitted for Q&A because they
- 5:32said, it would been like three days straight of just the
- 5:37questions that they had come in. And obviously, we didn't have
- 5:40three days for Q&A. But yeah, a lot, a lot, a lot of
- 5:45questions about Rex, especially a lot about why this happened,
- 5:49what's going on with it and things like that?
- 5:51Yeah, yeah. A lot of passing the buck as
- 5:54usual but I don't know. Let me look into that.
- 6:00I'll get back to you. Especially that regional manager
- 6:03for the Post Office. Yeah, he I think yeah, they did
- 6:10not. He did, he did not expect the
- 6:14rural carriers that were at mid states to have as much
- 6:16information as they did. Yeah, you can see it on his
- 6:19face. Yeah.
- 6:21He did not expect our craft to actually know about Rex know
- 6:26stuff about it and things like that.
- 6:29I actually pressed him at mid-station.
- 6:31Ask them why are postmasters and district managers who are under
- 6:35his command. We're not trained on this and
- 6:39his excuse was, they don't attend, they don't, some of them
- 6:42don't want to attend training. Some of them turn on the zoom
- 6:44calls and don't pay attention. And but when push comes to
- 6:48shove, it's his responsibility. He to make sure they know him
- 6:52and he couldn't answer the question and that actually sat
- 6:55in me a little bit know that upper management at least the
- 6:59regional level wasn't willing to make management, learn this
- 7:06stuff that they should learn and it just goes with the
- 7:11inconsistency of training across the board.
- 7:14I think, from both sigh, you know, a little bit from both
- 7:19sides and yeah. Yes, the union, put a ton of
- 7:22information out there. And if you went to the website
- 7:26and you found it and you learned it and you shared it with your
- 7:28co-workers and even your management that, you know, there
- 7:32was, but there was still information that came out after
- 7:37that was put out that didn't and they didn't update.
- 7:41And then you find out after the fact or added an extra this or
- 7:46that in there, and it was never in there to begin with, for
- 7:49instance, the rural reach, and submitting the leads with the
- 7:52real reach activity skin. I was never told that many
- 7:58people were never told that and some people were told that right
- 8:00off the bat, but when you go back and look at the
- 8:02information, it's not in there at all, you go back to the eight
- 8:08pieces for hold mail. You know, a lot of carriers out
- 8:11there today weren't around for the 2018, count didn't even know
- 8:17how counts work and then get told near the end of the year.
- 8:23Oh, by the way, if it's got eight pieces of hold mail or is
- 8:26a pieces of a business clothes mail that you get in unscanned
- 8:30parcel for that and you any credit for that?
- 8:32And so for that whole year, nobody was doing unscanned
- 8:35Parcels for that and then you find out about it, what?
- 8:38Two weeks before the Count starts.
- 8:41Oh by the way, that's an unscanned parcel.
- 8:43Yeah, you find that out during the joint training, and that's
- 8:45if you had somebody outside of management from your office, go
- 8:49to the Joint training. Did you even find that out?
- 8:53That's where I found it out at. But here, we're we here at on
- 8:58this podcast we're trying to help you help yourself help you
- 9:03learn to find this stuff help you think about this stuff and
- 9:07ask your local designated union, representative about it, get the
- 9:11information in your area, go to the website because there's a
- 9:15whole tab for wrecks. On the Nash, which I understand
- 9:20was down earlier, I'm not sure if it still is, I haven't tried
- 9:22to get Down there. Is it back up?
- 9:27Yeah. And you log into the national
- 9:29website, there's a whole section just for Rex and it has
- 9:32everything in there. Has the activity sheets, it has
- 9:35the PowerPoint presentation, that explains the different
- 9:39scans. It has the history of how this
- 9:44came about it. I mean, the Q&A that they've
- 9:48done and yes, answers have changed with specific questions.
- 9:52If you noticed, Be one answer early on and a different answer
- 9:55later on things, change all the time.
- 9:58And I know that the biggest issue that people have is the
- 10:03lack of communication from the national board on updates
- 10:08pertaining to Rex, especially with the new evaluations going
- 10:12in and all that other information.
- 10:16And the reason we were told that not, you know, updates were very
- 10:20rare, was a sheer fact that Once they got an update from the post
- 10:26from USPS headquarters and we're you know, right?
- 10:29Okay that sounds good you know getting ready to put that out
- 10:32and then they get a phone call even as soon as an hour later
- 10:36saying nope this is changed. We found the.
- 10:38So we found that and so information was constantly
- 10:42changing and they're not going to put an update out to
- 10:45everybody and then turn around and take it all back because it
- 10:50changed an hour later or the next day.
- 10:53They want to make sure that information is solid before
- 10:56putting it out, which everybody. I mean, I have to, I have to
- 11:00respect that, but at the same time I think the silence is what
- 11:06was really bothering people. I mean, even that explanation to
- 11:09put out, you know, we know you guys are looking for updates.
- 11:12You know, information is coming constantly from headquarters,
- 11:15however, it's changing just as quickly as it's coming,
- 11:18therefore until we have solidified, the information.
- 11:21We're not going to pass it out. Out to you or we're not going to
- 11:24put it out to you until we have something solid, something like
- 11:27that. I think may hit, perhaps have
- 11:32been better than radio silence. I also see their height of it
- 11:36though. Hmm you know if you put out
- 11:38wrong information and you're constantly putting our wrong
- 11:41information and retracting it a lot more people are going to be
- 11:46upset about that too. You know.
- 11:48So it's a double-edged sword. You either don't put out the
- 11:50information and so you have it set in stone and people are
- 11:53upset that you're not communicating or you communicate
- 11:57the wrong stuff and people get upset, but you're telling them
- 11:59one thing and then Another thing, then it's another thing.
- 12:02So unfortunately for our national board they have to tap
- 12:05dance, a fine lines and I understand it completely, it's
- 12:10logical, you know, and on top of that if you put out completely
- 12:14false information and then USPS see is that they could actually
- 12:18use that in contract negotiations against you.
- 12:21So there's even that. And every time they renew a
- 12:24contract, they have to think about the next contract are
- 12:28going to be doing as soon as that one signed him.
- 12:30Ready to go. It's a never-ending cycle so you
- 12:34can you gotta understand both sides of the field you know
- 12:38before going off on a tangent about it.
- 12:41Because unfortunately there's a lot of hidden things that are
- 12:45going on behind the scenes that we can't physically see.
- 12:49But we all get our information from the exact same place.
- 12:52Everybody else does we all get our information from the union
- 12:55website. But why Kristen was saying if We
- 13:01put out okay, we're getting information but it's getting
- 13:05there. Changing it as quick as we get
- 13:07it. We'll put as soon as we get a
- 13:10definitive, you know? Even once I don't want to do
- 13:15once once a week, twice a month, even once a month, just to put
- 13:21something saying, hey, we know where as we're still waiting on,
- 13:29you're going in and out Josh. Sorry, even if like you were
- 13:35saying, even if they put out we're getting information on.
- 13:46What information will put that out, at least, keep us in the
- 13:52loop. So, but yeah, I mean, a lot of
- 13:57good information like I said, And like James, the said reach,
- 14:03I mean, there's a difference between your state conventions
- 14:06and your national conventions, you know, with that type of
- 14:10stuff. Those are pretty much all
- 14:12business. When your Regional conferences,
- 14:16if you're looking for information, those are the ones
- 14:18to go to and you don't have to go just to your specific region.
- 14:24If your specific region doesn't fall in a time that you know,
- 14:27you can take off, but in another region, maybe not so far away.
- 14:33You can sign up and go to any region, you can go to all of
- 14:35them if you want, you don't have to stick to your specific
- 14:39region, to go to the conferences.
- 14:41And they're all informational and Sunday is usually a business
- 14:45day, but that's just for that region and planning on the next
- 14:49one. The next conference and whatnot,
- 14:51and they have their own business agenda.
- 14:54Before that stuff that you go through, if you stick, you know,
- 14:56if you're there for that. But the main day is that's the
- 15:02meat and potatoes of it. It really is and on top of that
- 15:06because it's a union thing management has to approve your
- 15:11time off, as long as there are Subs available.
- 15:13Yeah, it's still a protection under article 24.
- 15:17Yeah, so they have to give you the time off, as long as Subs
- 15:20are available. Well, let me play devil's
- 15:23advocate here for a minute, okay.
- 15:25Sure. First of all, this is introduced
- 15:28back in 2012. It was supposed to go online
- 15:322015. Yep.
- 15:34It didn't get placed in 2018 when we had the last count and
- 15:39Amazon started to slam us. Now, let's just go from 2018 and
- 15:45say, you've had five years to definitively set this in stone.
- 15:52You've had three different intellectual genius, engineer's
- 15:59coordinate and certified. This is how it's going to go.
- 16:06This was all supposed to be agreed upon by the post office
- 16:12and the national rural letter carriers Association on the
- 16:15findings of three Engineers, one from each and then one, they
- 16:19settled on, as an arbitrary engineer to settle disputes per
- 16:23se. And in the five years, they
- 16:27couldn't come up with a definitive explanation of
- 16:31everything. That is six years after they
- 16:37started with an additional five years that they couldn't get it
- 16:42completed after the additional six months from September where
- 16:45they pushed it back again. Now tell me why they couldn't
- 16:51get all these questions answered in the 11 year time frame that
- 16:57they had available to themselves.
- 17:00Tell me why they had to go back and forth on stupid little
- 17:04things. Like the you BBM, the wsh, the
- 17:07WSS, the carrier pickups two pounds, not 2 pounds priority,
- 17:13not priority. if you have a understanding with management to
- 17:19make pickups that at certain locations without a carrier,
- 17:21pick up sheet, Why couldn't this been done in 11 years?
- 17:28Why didn't the union get this resolved in 11 years?
- 17:32Why was all this information being bounced back and forth?
- 17:38Before it actually was implemented and now we're still
- 17:41in the same situation with teh justification.
- 17:47Verifying the numbers, verifying the evaluations to this day.
- 17:52I've got my third 4241 with another time on it and it and to
- 17:58this day, I have my two third 4241 that says, I have this, and
- 18:03I have that and I've never had them is, as far as my time
- 18:06allowances are concerned. No.
- 18:09So I don't want to hear that you know they would say one thing
- 18:13bounce back and forth and and you know Rectify it and then
- 18:17come back and say no we wrong. This should have been done years
- 18:21ago. And we should never never never
- 18:26have settled that. It's pay adjustment from the
- 18:29post office on May 6. Well, yeah, I mean, let me
- 18:35answer that. So, as somebody who's done minor
- 18:41programming and program, crimp creations and things like that,
- 18:46look at this as like will use Facebook for an example.
- 18:50Okay, Facebook went First came out was a simple platform.
- 18:56Slowly over time, got more and more stuff added to it and you
- 19:00keep getting new and improved updates to it eventually,
- 19:04Facebook got so big that they overran their server.
- 19:09Their servers couldn't handle, the volume of information, that
- 19:13was flowing, through them on a daily basis.
- 19:16So Facebook had to go out and get more servers, give more
- 19:20server, space, get more Cloud, space things like that.
- 19:23And as they did, they had to update the programming in their
- 19:27systems and there were Bunches of bugs that occur with that.
- 19:31So the way I look at it is the test offices were like your
- 19:34Alpha version, your very first version and as they were going
- 19:38along, they kept. Eating the system changing
- 19:40things, things like that. And now we're right now on the
- 19:43beta version, we don't have the definitive version that actually
- 19:47does everything we needed to do, but it's enough of a version to
- 19:52actually put it out there and use find the flaws and fix the
- 19:56flaws. And there are some flaws that
- 19:58even with test officers, you can't find him in a lot of that
- 20:02like parent-child roused missing information on the parent-child
- 20:06routes, that's one of them getting House.
- 20:09That have only one ZIP code that are labeled as parent-child
- 20:13routes, which is the number that they gave out of Ralph's of
- 20:15errors are ones that were one ZIP code routes, that were
- 20:19listed as parent-child Realms. That was talked about amid
- 20:21states. There are so many different
- 20:23fluid things in this and management is trying to find a
- 20:28way to take as much money as possible off the evaluations as
- 20:33they always have. Which is of course, the way the
- 20:36supposed to do it, they want to find a way to To do mail
- 20:40delivery as cheap as possible in the union, wants to do it at the
- 20:44most pay possible for carriers and it's that back and forth
- 20:49that we have. And one of the reasons why we
- 20:51need a union in the first place that part is the issue here, the
- 20:56back of forth between the two parties instead of coming
- 21:01together. Finding an amicable solution
- 21:03that works for both sides. We have postal management that
- 21:08sat on its haunches until Amazon started, delivering its own
- 21:12stuff and took away from the offices that has a high volume
- 21:16Amazon and stuff like that. Back in 2018 until they could
- 21:20actually say, okay, now these rocks have lost a lot of
- 21:23packages. Now we can implement this and
- 21:25save the post office, a bunch of money.
- 21:28Well, that's a that's a fine argument in regards to the
- 21:30servers and updating the algorithms and everything else.
- 21:34The problem of it is that they've had The years to do this
- 21:38that they numb. The servers were capable in the
- 21:40first place though. Yeah.
- 21:44Where are we? Where was the union saying?
- 21:46You know, look, but let's put some money into the servers so
- 21:50that we can get more reliable information.
- 21:52So we can run more reliable, algorithms in regards to all the
- 21:56nuances that the rural carriers do.
- 22:00I mean, yeah, I think anybody knew I don't think anybody knew
- 22:03that this was going to happen this way.
- 22:05Well, whoa. We had three genius Engineers.
- 22:09Remember we had dr. Miracle.
- 22:11Yeah, we still have dr. Mericle on retainer.
- 22:15Exactly. Yeah, but you know any of these
- 22:20guys get their asses out into an office for a month at a time to
- 22:23study this shit and the answer is no, we don't know, we don't
- 22:28know because we weren't there, we weren't in the room when it
- 22:30happened. Well, it's just like you know,
- 22:33the same way to get your you have your national board
- 22:36explaining to you, how the scanners and everything else
- 22:39work and their asses aren't out in the on the road either is,
- 22:42isn't that true? Okay, I mean, you know, don't
- 22:46tell me how to do my job if you don't do my job and especially
- 22:51for the people in the national board who have no idea how to
- 22:55even set up a scanner, let alone work it.
- 23:00Yeah, cuz I think wasn't a former board member last year
- 23:03that was trying to explain the scanners and had no experience
- 23:08with them. You may be correct in that.
- 23:14Yeah, I think he said. He said he had no experience
- 23:21using it. Yeah, they did a mid to it so
- 23:24I'll give him that. But that's well.
- 23:27Okay, let me go from my background.
- 23:30Okay. I'm pretty well versed in a
- 23:33certain field that we can't discuss because people might be
- 23:36threatened by it. Yeah, but if I tried to explain
- 23:39it to You over the phone versus showing you how I do it or the
- 23:46on the table, with all the parts laid out and everything.
- 23:49You would have no comprehension of what to do, how to do how
- 23:53things go back together again. How to come apart, how you clean
- 23:55them? How you maintain their?
- 23:58You would have no idea whatsoever.
- 23:59Correct. Correct, I'd be better hands on.
- 24:02Yes. So if if I bring you into my
- 24:06house and show you demonstrate and then you know, break
- 24:09everything Back down you'll at least have an understanding of
- 24:14how things go that are taking apart put together and how they
- 24:17work. Correct but you don't touch the
- 24:21damn scanner. Don't tell me how to use it.
- 24:24The the problems with the server's goes all the way back
- 24:28to with Joey Johnson back in you know Grand Rapids and it's time
- 24:32we were there and you know again here we are in a predicament
- 24:37where the post office is so Learn about the new NG TVs.
- 24:42What they were trying to actually get out at that time
- 24:45instead of wringing their systems up to speed.
- 24:48And, and the worst demonstration of their recombinants is just an
- 24:53HR. We have people in h.r., who are
- 24:57putting those jobs right now, for my district who have no age
- 25:01or experience. They don't want to be an HR, but
- 25:05it was either go to HR in the post office where you've been
- 25:08for 28 years or go out in the real world and get a job.
- 25:12So it was easy just to transition over to HR.
- 25:16Now, you have a job that you don't know how to do.
- 25:20We have a problem posting around.
- 25:25Three months. Finally, a guy had to come up
- 25:27from d.c. to show them. And then when the route gets
- 25:30awarded, I have to file a grievance for three months of
- 25:33salary that somebody didn't earn because HR didn't do their job
- 25:37in a timely fashion. Why?
- 25:40Because they don't know how to use the system or the system
- 25:43won't let him do this. You've got a terms, you got
- 25:45racks, you got mmse, you got the LTM DPM and and these bigger fit
- 25:51people don't even know what the acronym stands for.
- 25:54We actually had a job fair today.
- 25:57Okay. And it and the lady, put the job
- 26:00fair on comes back and says, does anybody know what a PT f
- 26:04is? And I says yes, why she goes
- 26:07what we're trying to hire City carriers and they're looking for
- 26:09a PT F position and we don't have anything like that.
- 26:13We have cca's and plc's and all this stuff but we don't have any
- 26:17pts. I'm like okay.
- 26:20What department do you work? I'm an idiot.
- 26:23I'm an HR Delaware Phu District. Okay.
- 26:28You know and that was a thing is the presentation that the
- 26:33regional headquarters guy was giving when he was given us, the
- 26:37mail volume declines, all the little charts and everything, it
- 26:41was all city data. There was no rule data
- 26:44whatsoever and the reason that we got for that was oh, I had it
- 26:54written down here because the world system is still being
- 26:58built and only shows stuff for 12 to ice a year with with the
- 27:04volume, still coming in the data.
- 27:05From Rex does not transfer to the finance side of stuff.
- 27:09So, I Understand there was this pandemic that happened.
- 27:16And everybody went worked from home.
- 27:18So why couldn't we have worked on database and interface at
- 27:23that time? Why couldn't this stuff have
- 27:26been resolved? Prior to all this.
- 27:30If you knew that you didn't have a way to track that, like you do
- 27:34the city side and you knowing that you're trying to implement
- 27:38this new pay structure that relies on that data.
- 27:42Why wasn't that interface taken care of in the beginning?
- 27:46The same thing reason why, you know, during the two two plus
- 27:50years of covid. What why wasn't the national
- 27:52board down on the front steps of the US Postal Service will Avant
- 27:57Plaza. demanding the stuff being done, yo, that the servers the
- 28:03information, you know, the evaluations of each time
- 28:08standards that they were trying to implement I don't stay
- 28:13because you weren't traveling around the country.
- 28:14Going through all the conventions and conferences.
- 28:17So you had plenty of time while living in Alexandria, to be
- 28:21there every day. So why weren't you down there at
- 28:25L'Enfant Plaza? Looking out for our interests.
- 28:30Oh, that's right. You weren't in Alexandria, you
- 28:33were back home, working remotely.
- 28:36It's hard to get up to get the joys of tension and when you're,
- 28:40you know, South of the Border there.
- 28:42I mean, you know, I'm sorry for being the angry man, but folks,
- 28:46you know, we deserve better. How many we're the ones who had
- 28:50our asses out there every day through the entire covid period.
- 28:55And then, we were the ones being questioned about why we would
- 28:59call out sick if we had covid symptoms.
- 29:02Well, because we didn't want to take it home to our families,
- 29:05right? We didn't want to get it
- 29:07ourselves or spread it to our co-workers or our customers, but
- 29:11we were out there every damn day, weren't we?
- 29:13We were, we were definitely out there every darn day.
- 29:17So when my local management you know, comes to me with the
- 29:22situation. And I explained to him that
- 29:26well, you know, quite frankly that's not my concern, that's a
- 29:30management problem when they all helped me out.
- 29:33Where were you when you know, we were helping you out during jove
- 29:37it. When we were short staffed when
- 29:40we, when we were down to two RCA's for our office, where were
- 29:45you where were you? When we were working you know,
- 29:4910 11 hour days, In the dark and the cold in the rain.
- 29:54Where were you? You were home with your families
- 29:58so please don't ask me to give anymore because frankly,
- 30:02Scarlett, I don't give a damn Josh.
- 30:06You're being quiet over there Wallace little bit, try not to
- 30:11make background noises to make editing easier with what you
- 30:18were saying about with all this. And Getting the data in the
- 30:23servers and everything. Ready?
- 30:26I asked a few you know when they first we got our first 4241 A's
- 30:30and they told us that they had to delay it because he got it
- 30:35wasn't there. I said it then.
- 30:37Why didn't they upload prior to all this data into the system?
- 30:44Yeah, it's unfortunately Unfortunately, you know, none of
- 31:00us were, we don't have those answers at all.
- 31:05So we just kind of go with the information that's passed on to
- 31:09us. Yes they're stressed. at this
- 31:18point, I hate to say it is what it is and I know those you guys
- 31:22that are looking to file disputes, definitely file those
- 31:28but make sure that you have The data to back it up if you know
- 31:35for certain that you didn't get credit where credit was due or
- 31:38credit was supposed to be that you get all that information for
- 31:43when it's ready to actually file those they did tell us that
- 31:47there was supposed to be a dispute form and a dispute
- 31:54process type outline possibly along with the form up on the
- 31:59website. They're hoping by Monday I No
- 32:01that hasn't happened yet. So hopefully by the end of the
- 32:04week, I'm sure once that comes out we'll all get the blast and
- 32:08then you guys can all go to the website and get those new
- 32:10dispute forms and dispute anything and everything that you
- 32:17need a dispute. That's basically all I can say
- 32:20on that one. I mean, really, I mean, not
- 32:26yeah, it's some of those. I was talking to other carrier
- 32:29friend of mine that she went. She was one of those.
- 32:31Went from a 44 or 45 Cato, a 44h.
- 32:35Those are big drops and definitely look over your
- 32:38information to make sure opens s skin.
- 32:43Don't we have until this upcoming Monday to file?
- 32:45That's when they released it right there.
- 32:49Not on the timely thing. I think there's an agreed
- 32:54extension for file. Yeah, for filing because of
- 32:59getting the new It process. I know it had been something
- 33:03that was going to be agreed upon between both parties before they
- 33:06released it to us. So once they get that agreement
- 33:09and they release it to us, then get those disputes going.
- 33:12So yeah. Well that's interesting because
- 33:18I know this is a whole new system and they have to create
- 33:21everything new judges gear around this.
- 33:25But previously with the old count system you had they gave
- 33:30you your information. Your tentative numbers and you
- 33:34had like that week or whatever. It was whatever the timeframe
- 33:38was. To submit your disputes to get
- 33:42it. Try and get it corrected before
- 33:45the new evaluations went into effect.
- 33:50This point, the new evaluations are already in effect.
- 33:53So if you have just use and they're valid disputes and your
- 33:57management says, yes, this is a valid dispute or they're going
- 34:00to go and back pain. That has not been like, I know
- 34:07it's a rhetorical that they said, that's what they said, is
- 34:10admits. He was around.
- 34:11He said it Miss States. Is that disputes?
- 34:14And then they can go through and they can correct it and they can
- 34:16do back, pay on people and one of the people commented.
- 34:19Yeah, an eight to ten months, like car back.
- 34:21Pay for the contract. Oh yeah.
- 34:25Hopefully, they'll expedite it and it won't take that long.
- 34:28We can hope for that but you never know on the other side.
- 34:32Side of that. Also is they don't want people
- 34:35who are disputing it just because they just don't like the
- 34:37evaluation that they got. Yeah that does.
- 34:40It is going to be it will not fly once at all.
- 34:43Yeah, neither management or the union are going to accept
- 34:47anything. Without fact, the back it up.
- 34:49So make sure you, if you feel like your package count is low,
- 34:53count your packages every day. Make sure that you're recording
- 34:57how much you have, because that's the way to prove it,
- 35:01whether it's right or wrong. You can take a week of my
- 35:04packages or two week amount just like an old male count, two
- 35:08weeks and average that out per day and figure out whether
- 35:13that's what's on your 4241 or not.
- 35:15I know it's not going to be heavy volume like holiday season
- 35:19or anything like that. But the more information you
- 35:22have to say, hey, look, I'm still getting 110 packages a day
- 35:27on this route, but my evaluation only says I'm doing 70 a day.
- 35:31Then you've got a It right there, same with your Flats.
- 35:35You know, if you count your flats for two weeks and you see
- 35:38that it's not the number that you actually have on your, on
- 35:41your 4241, M for your daily volume, you can dispute that.
- 35:47But if you turn around and just say, I got to love an
- 35:51evaluation, I don't like it. It's not going to fly.
- 35:55Yeah. But you know, and make sure that
- 35:57you're asking management. For those end of run reports,
- 36:00your radar report your PTR report was actually use your
- 36:04Parcels for the day. You know keeping up with your
- 36:07daily account if there's any missing data at all if they're
- 36:11zeros where there shouldn't be that's definitely something you
- 36:15need to dispute. If your distance measurements
- 36:17aren't correct. If your safety service talks
- 36:20aren't getting entered into our MSS.
- 36:23You know that type of stuff is Definitely one another route.
- 36:30Yeah, that happened to my office blue boxes.
- 36:34Got moved to another route. M.
- 36:37And if you have a CB you that the first address is vacant at
- 36:42CBU is not recorded in your system as being an active box.
- 36:46So you're not getting credit for that whole CD.
- 36:48You, you can dispute that as well.
- 36:50Yeah, they're working on the trying to figure out something
- 36:54for the inactive, CBU anchors. Also, they're trying to
- 36:59recalculate a coverage factor for CB use, that is separate
- 37:04than those of curbside. Isis.
- 37:08But basically, the main thing is is they're going to start
- 37:10watching for benchmarks for your scans.
- 37:13So if you didn't have, you know, very many unscannable partials
- 37:19before and then your new evaluation comes in.
- 37:24And now you're getting 200 unscannable Parcels a day that's
- 37:29going to Red Flag. Mmm.
- 37:30So basically guys just do your job is normal scan
- 37:35appropriately. And then you know, run your
- 37:38route is normal it. I mean I've seen a lot of people
- 37:42comment you know well my evaluation used to be nine hours
- 37:46know it's seven and a half and so when I get to seven and a
- 37:51half, I'm going to call it quits.
- 37:53No, just just do the route guys. Do the route is you normally ran
- 37:57the route before. You know, making the accurate
- 38:01scans that's really all you can do.
- 38:04I mean, don't be one of those that's going to make things
- 38:08detrimental to yourself down the road.
- 38:12Just just do your job as you've always done it.
- 38:16I'm going to say this even though you're only getting paid
- 38:18seven and a half hours right now and you may be working eight and
- 38:21a half. You're working on your next
- 38:24evaluation already. Everything you put in Now is
- 38:28working towards your next evaluation that's coming up in
- 38:30September and we get them in October.
- 38:34So even if you got lamb basted on your route, Do your scans do
- 38:41them. As honestly as you can, you
- 38:44know, do what you think is the best?
- 38:48Remember, carrier discretion. Make sure you're doing.
- 38:52If you think there's a scan that should be done, there's probably
- 38:55a scam that should be done. Don't leave money on the table
- 38:58for your next evaluation because a lot of us did leave money on
- 39:02the table for this evaluation because either we didn't know we
- 39:06had to do these scans or we didn't know that these scans
- 39:09were for this thing. Hang tough like that so be sure
- 39:12to ask your local designated union.
- 39:16Representative about the scans that you should be doing and do
- 39:20them. Daily get yourselves involved.
- 39:23Your subs may may turn around this little something I saw
- 39:26earlier. Your sub, may turn around and
- 39:28say, well, it doesn't really bother me.
- 39:30I don't need to do the scans. Well, when you go to become a
- 39:34regular, Guess what? You're going to get.
- 39:37The smallest route in the office and is probably the route you
- 39:39didn't do the scans on. So you're going to cut your nose
- 39:42off just because you want to get done with this and move on to
- 39:45the next route that you've got to do because your office is
- 39:47short-handed. Well, when you go to become
- 39:50regular now you got to work a year before you get to the
- 39:54actual evaluation of the route. You know.
- 39:58And that's one of the things I want to try and get a series up
- 40:02for RCA's. Get it going, get it started and
- 40:05One of my biggest things with our Cas is still being an RCA
- 40:09currently is what I step into a case and I don't care what route
- 40:14it is. Whether it's my primary route,
- 40:16my my Ox route. I'm having to run somebody
- 40:20else's route that day because there's no other coverage.
- 40:23When I step into that case, I take ownership of that route.
- 40:27I'm going to treat that route as if it was my route all the time.
- 40:33And I don't think a lot of RCA's nowadays have that mentality.
- 40:40You know, if this is something that you're looking of going,
- 40:44the long road with and becoming career down the road, you need
- 40:49to take ownership of that route. Yes.
- 40:53Right, every regular has their own system, I know some regulars
- 40:56that, okay? If you get pars labels, you
- 40:58know, leave them here for me, I'll take care of them when I
- 41:00get back because I you know they have their certain way.
- 41:02Ways now to problem, I'm still going to look at that parsley
- 41:05able and be like okay so and so okay.
- 41:08That's not going to affect me today.
- 41:09Oh yep, they're forwarded out starting today.
- 41:12I'll make sure I take care of that.
- 41:14Now, you know, holds you know double checking.
- 41:17Making sure there's the holes that are going back that you got
- 41:20those ready to go if they're a delivery and not a pickup, you
- 41:24know, I even try to pull the holds that go back the next day
- 41:27if the regulars work in the next day.
- 41:29You know, that that is in that kind of goes along with the
- 41:32What's with the wrecks in the scans as an RCA treat that
- 41:37route? As if it's yours and it doesn't
- 41:40matter. If it's not yours and you're
- 41:41just filling in for that day. Truth, that route is if it was
- 41:45yours and do what you would do is if that was your own route,
- 41:50I've got an example of that. I have a route in my office that
- 41:54the regular carrier wasn't going to do the scans unless he was
- 41:58paid to do them and no matter how much convincing I I tried to
- 42:03do, they weren't going to do those scans, unless management
- 42:06told them they were being paid for them.
- 42:09And luckily, the RCA that ran that route albeit, overzealously
- 42:16made. Sure to do this scans on the
- 42:19route and that route came back as a j route because of that sub
- 42:25in RCA can make a difference on a route.
- 42:28They specially with these scams, you know?
- 42:31And And that's the one thing. I like I said, it didn't matter
- 42:35what route. I run that day, you know, if
- 42:38they had a pet postage, due if I remembered, I'd put that postage
- 42:42to scan in. I forgot one today.
- 42:44I'll admit it, that's still my weak spot right there is those
- 42:46postage dues. But, you know, if we had box
- 42:49holders that day, I made sure the Box holder went in.
- 42:52If we had, you know, holds going back and it was the proper
- 42:56amount to go back as a nun. Scandal will parcel.
- 42:59I make sure I scanned it that way, you know.
- 43:02You treat those routes as if they were your own.
- 43:07You know, I think if more can do that, more regulars will learn
- 43:14to appreciate you a bit more. Every regular in my office will
- 43:18come up to me and let me know if changes on their route that way
- 43:21the next time I run it or I may see there are see a before they
- 43:25do. I can relay that information or
- 43:28hey so and so I was put in a box up, okay, cool may not see
- 43:31you're out for a month but Good to know.
- 43:32There's gonna be a new box up there.
- 43:34Are you know someone's those forwarding out but you know
- 43:36they're going through a divorce. So don't deliver their mail but
- 43:40deliver the other ones male, okay.
- 43:42You know. Cool thanks.
- 43:43You know, it's than me trying to keep that straight when I go and
- 43:46run that route the next time to something totally different but
- 43:49you want to build, even just a working relationship with a
- 43:53regular communication is key and that goes for regulars to, you
- 43:57know, regulars communicating with the RCA's.
- 44:00That are the relief. Is that necessary RCA's PT f as
- 44:03well that are running your route.
- 44:06I know when I first started and I think this is something I'm
- 44:10going to incorporate when I go regular we had a notebook at the
- 44:15desk and anything pertinent information at somebody should
- 44:19know about we wrote it down in that way if the regular was gone
- 44:23for like a week or something on vacation or doing whatever you
- 44:28know. And I started Heavens snow holds
- 44:31or you know Snowbirds were coming back or, you know, I can
- 44:34write so-and-so's back or so-and-so forwarded out.
- 44:36It's just an individual not a family or it's a family, you
- 44:40know. We put those we dated it, we put
- 44:42those pertinent information in there then we just had a little
- 44:44bookmark to say. Okay, this is where you open up
- 44:47to, to start with for today. That way there was always
- 44:49constant communication even though we didn't see each other
- 44:52all the time. Well, I'm just thinking because
- 44:55you know, you're talking about the one year, you know, changing
- 44:59all that and I know most of us realize, but even in my office,
- 45:06people didn't realize that all this information that went into
- 45:09this current rally valuation started, two years ago, that
- 45:15that's, that's set the footprint for the year 2022.
- 45:20And then the 2022 was the start of the actual compilation of
- 45:24data. And I explained it to the
- 45:28people. I mean, I couldn't be more
- 45:31simple about it. Scanner one hand.
- 45:33While in the other hand, what goes in the scanner goes in the
- 45:36wallet? You don't put it in here.
- 45:37Don't cry about this, because it's up to you to protect your
- 45:42paycheck and explain to the subs to the same way.
- 45:46You're going to be paid on the evaluation based on what goes in
- 45:49that scanner. If you shortchanged that route
- 45:53and I'm the regular, I'm going to be upset if you're a sub and
- 45:58your regular is shortchanging, I would be upset as this up.
- 46:02Yeah, it's working together to get the most out of the routes
- 46:07evaluation. You know, you're you were
- 46:10talking about the unscannable packages Parcels of, you know,
- 46:13200 of them. You know, luckily I keep mine
- 46:15down at 42 a day but I had one today but it wasn't you know it
- 46:22was a parcel wasn't a priority mailer with a metered thing on
- 46:27it and no scan. I'm like, oh yeah, that's
- 46:29definitely unscannable. But you know, that's Making that
- 46:33correct call and doing the scans correctly.
- 46:37Don't over your yeah, whether Union or not, I don't care.
- 46:42Yeah, I'm trying to help you protect your paycheck and your
- 46:46subs paycheck, okay? So I'm going to help you as much
- 46:49as possible. I mean, you know, I can't tell
- 46:51you how many times I've put it off something home, because I
- 46:54don't have time to do it at the post office.
- 46:57Yeah. And they're copiers are, you
- 46:59know, not as nice as mine. So, you know, I give you all the
- 47:04information but I can't make it. Let you can't make a horse.
- 47:09Want to drink. You can lead them to the trial
- 47:11but you can't make him drink. Yep.
- 47:13Same thing. I can give you all the
- 47:15information but it's up to you to act on it. and I think a lot
- 47:20of people who are upset about the routes going down, Are the
- 47:24ones who, you know, kind of poop odd, the whole thing and said,
- 47:28you know, it is what it is. Are you worried about?
- 47:31I got to do the six cans folks, there was a lot more than six
- 47:34cans in there that you had to do, or you should have done.
- 47:39And there are some, there are some that did all their scans
- 47:43did. Everything they were supposed to
- 47:44and still lost in this and I'm some routes unfortunately did
- 47:51deserve to go down. Yeah I mean it's hear me out on
- 47:55this hear me out on this if if they did a count every time we
- 48:00were able to do account for the contract, we would have had 10
- 48:05counts between the last count in 2018.
- 48:09And now there have been 10 cows if you take that and you take
- 48:13one hour off for each one of those pounds.
- 48:16That's 10 hours right there. So if your route went down 10
- 48:18hours, it could have gone down one hour every single count.
- 48:23That's a possibility. I'm not saying it's a blanket
- 48:27for everybody. But that is a possibility, right
- 48:31there, another side of it is there were losses on values.
- 48:36You know, you have the speed Matrix now which killed a lot of
- 48:39long-distance routes, see the use of our big issue with this
- 48:43whole system as well. You know, it's amazing that the
- 48:46first box that's anchored on a CB you.
- 48:49If it's vacant, makes the whole CBU vacant, but yet a mailbox,
- 48:53the first mailbox on an anchored set of mailboxes.
- 48:57Doesn't make it the whole anchors set of vacant of
- 49:00mailboxes. So I don't know why they're
- 49:02having such issues with that when they're basically the same
- 49:04program running on you, but I think they also have a coating
- 49:15of them. I think because those are
- 49:18Different values. Yeah well that's it.
- 49:20Go along with the values though to a means you went from an en
- 49:24el status of two minutes per box or an ell status of 1.8, two
- 49:30minutes per box down to one point two minutes across the
- 49:33board for everybody. So if you were an en el status,
- 49:37if you were a nun, ell status route at 2 minutes, a box taking
- 49:41that down to one point two minutes, that's a big loss.
- 49:45Yep, that is a huge, huge loss and I know that was one of the
- 49:49biggest things off my primary route, 478 boxes and 93 miles
- 49:56that was 95 minutes a week right off the bat right off the top,
- 50:00just in the Box value along. And then the drive speed Matrix
- 50:04on top of it. You need?
- 50:06That was that was, that was the three-hour loss.
- 50:09Yeah. Back in the day, if you had
- 50:11miles you got paid. And now you know when they put
- 50:14the speed Matrix in there your mileage or the like a trucker,
- 50:18it's that they're dead head miles or not paying anything.
- 50:22They are but my point nine point two, two minutes a mile.
- 50:28But now it's, you know, if you're doing 45 miles an hour
- 50:31and, you know, your Going over a 20-mile stretch.
- 50:35Guess what? Folks.
- 50:37You just got one third of what you used to get.
- 50:40Yeah. Like maybe like my work out to
- 50:4312 minutes, a mile, I believe it was 12 minutes of my, oh yeah,
- 50:4612 minutes, a mile. And now we're with the highest
- 50:50highest speed. You have to be doing an average
- 50:53of 47, miles an hour, and you get paid nine point two minutes
- 50:57per mile for anything. That's if I believe it's just
- 51:00under a mile, it's close to Almost close to a mile distance.
- 51:04So anything over a mile would be at nine point two minutes per
- 51:07mile, but creep time, it was increased to 20.8.
- 51:14I believe it was a calculation 20.8 minutes per mile.
- 51:19Yeah. So those are Worrell status as
- 51:23you know they can get hurt as bad.
- 51:25No nowhere near us. I mean, we're talking about, you
- 51:28know, my primary routes 10 miles to the first box, my Ox route
- 51:32itself. If is 10 13 miles to the first
- 51:34box and 10 miles from the last box back to the office, you
- 51:40know, 23 miles. You're going to be nine point
- 51:42two minutes per mile. Yeah, and the same with the
- 51:45other one with the primary, it's 10 miles to the first box and
- 51:4913, miles back to the office again.
- 51:52Another 23 miles, that's straight dead head and hmm.
- 51:58You know, it's that very few minutes a mile that you're
- 52:02losing. Yeah, yeah here, if you're in a
- 52:05town that at the speed, limit is 25 miles per hour, the whole way
- 52:09through that time, you're losing money because you supposed to be
- 52:13doing 47 for that distance. Yeah, I think I my primary said
- 52:1810 minutes of drive time to the first box half the time.
- 52:21It can take 10 minutes to get outside of town before you have,
- 52:25you know, can pick up to speed because You got a couple
- 52:29stoplights and if it's one especially in summertime traffic
- 52:34and all that other stuff. So winner, ya know, in the
- 52:38winter? Yeah, exactly.
- 52:40Where you can't even go above 30 because of the snow.
- 52:43Yeah, again, this is where, you know, Engineers.
- 52:47Yeah. I haven't been out in the route
- 52:50and so guess what those factors aren't taking into
- 52:54consideration. Yep.
- 52:56And it said, make sure you're doing Doing everything you can
- 52:59to put the money from the table into your wallet.
- 53:03Yeah. Alright.
- 53:04Remember, money from the table means be accurate as accurate as
- 53:08you possibly can. And run your route as normal as
- 53:13you normally would do, the whole route Drive.
- 53:17The whole route, don't cut the corners but I want to bring up
- 53:22something kind of been silently reminded us.
- 53:25That the food drive is this weekend.
- 53:28Saturday is the food drive there.
- 53:32It we have always done this as a volunteer.
- 53:37It's for a good cause there is nothing to put And the scanner,
- 53:42when you pick up food, nothing to put in the scare you, while
- 53:45you can put the Box holder in for the cards.
- 53:47If you get the cards. Yes, if you've passed out the
- 53:50cards and or bags, Then yes, you get a pot holder.
- 53:55Yes, you get a box holder letter for the cards and a box, holder
- 53:58flat for the bags, but not parcel.
- 54:01No, and picking up food is not parcels and it's not carrier
- 54:06pick up. They're not there on unscannable
- 54:09Parcels. No, they're not unscannable
- 54:11Parcels. Nor is it a carrier pick up it?
- 54:16I've seen that so much going around and you know this it
- 54:20comes around every year and every year it's the same Same
- 54:23thing. So you can you get you can pick
- 54:26out your favorite foods that you collect, right?
- 54:30I'm gonna leave that to carrier discretion.
- 54:36The the correct answer would be. No, I did that one year.
- 54:41I had at least 20, some bags of stuff in my truck and I'm
- 54:45unloading and going through each bag and I'm sitting stuff off to
- 54:48the side. And the lady asked me what I was
- 54:50doing Isis, I'm not getting paid for this so I You get some kind
- 54:53of renumeration he rises. So yeah, I want the stove top
- 54:57stuffing. I want the Green Giant beans,
- 55:00254 needy Isis. You have worked for the post
- 55:04office, she goes, no, I said, I need this.
- 55:08Now, I actually had one of the customers I have said, I haven't
- 55:10ran my primary in quite a long time.
- 55:12Let alone on a nice day less time I ran, it was raining.
- 55:16So I didn't see anybody. So I got to see quite a few
- 55:18people today, you know, it's kind of, hey, stranger long
- 55:21time. No.
- 55:21See. And one of my guys was like, so
- 55:25Saturday, I'm like yeah he goes bags boxes.
- 55:28I said, whatever you choose to do, he's like, okay because
- 55:31we've got a whole bunch because I'll help you load it though
- 55:33when you get here. I said, that'll be good because
- 55:36I actually get to run my primary route again on Friday and
- 55:39Saturday. So that it looks nice little
- 55:41changes rewards. Weird, happens on my route, this
- 55:46is the first year, I can definitively say every address
- 55:50got a card in the 7. Years I've been on the route
- 55:55now. We're the food drive.
- 55:57I think I've collected a total of ten cans of food.
- 56:02We already have a pumpkin full of food.
- 56:05That's already been collected early so far in our office is we
- 56:11usually get four five pumpkins, full her our office.
- 56:14Yeah. But we've already have one so
- 56:15far that people have put out early this week.
- 56:18So yeah, mr. Johnson the qualify Why is
- 56:23question about the test office is lost a lot because mine was
- 56:28it one of the original test offices and we had two routes go
- 56:31down. Three hours average became J
- 56:36Ralph but every route including the age routes for all almost
- 56:40overburden k-rails now. Yeah, I started I started in a
- 56:45test office and you know, scans changed periodically.
- 56:51During the testing might only three and a half years.
- 56:55I was there, they had some at they brought in took somehow
- 57:00said, okay, we're going to do this one for six weeks and then
- 57:03we're out. And I want anymore, and they
- 57:05were and do this and do that. And so, it changed quite a bit.
- 57:10I definitely know what we have today.
- 57:12It's active is different for the most part from the test study
- 57:19offices from when they first started doing that, it I'm not
- 57:26sure exactly how my old office went.
- 57:29I know, there was some of them that did end up going into
- 57:32overburden status, but again, that office is mail volume in
- 57:36general is a lot more than the current office.
- 57:38I mean yeah and if we if we have offices out there like mine,
- 57:43where the postmaster says, Hey, the mail volume hasn't changed
- 57:46from 2018 but the routes went down, you know, that's something
- 57:52that needs to be looked into and I made sure that when I was at
- 57:55Mid State, I told Ronnie and Jeanette to look into my office
- 58:00because the volumes haven't really changed since 2018 in it,
- 58:04but almost every route in my office went down.
- 58:07Uh-huh. So something's going on there,
- 58:09that they need to look into, you know, an example of a office
- 58:16that has somebody who actually cares my postmaster actually
- 58:20cares. To say, hey look the mail volume
- 58:23hasn't changed. Why have these routes gone down?
- 58:26Obviously, thanks to that regional manager.
- 58:28We know that they're not getting the answers from the regional
- 58:31manager, so I put it to Ronnie internet to take a look into it,
- 58:36see if maybe the union can do something in my office for it.
- 58:41Yeah, I think that's where you just kind of instruct all your
- 58:43carriers to go through their 4241 M's with a fine-tooth comb,
- 58:48and write all the discrepancies down.
- 58:51Exactly. And I have a carrier that
- 58:53actually records, all the packages that she delivers for
- 58:56the day on her calendar, on her case.
- 58:59Uh-huh. So she knows exactly how many
- 59:00parcel she's had for the last year.
- 59:02Pretty much, so we can use that to determine whether her
- 59:05personal volume is correct or not.
- 59:08Little things like that facts. Finding a special way to do it.
- 59:12Yep. We're not allowed to have
- 59:14challenges that our case because that's considered a personal
- 59:17item. It's a postal calendar.
- 59:20It's still a personal item. How does our assistant assistant
- 59:26postmaster, custodian made that determination of the custodian.
- 59:32That wanted your trays off the floor so he could do his work
- 59:35without having to move anything. Yeah, the, because 30 in the
- 59:38now, has a note taped to my case saying that the postmaster
- 59:41approve, these being here in a neat and orderly fashion as of
- 59:4558 2023. Yeah.
- 59:50And I also put on there that, you know, anytime you need to
- 59:53apply floor black to our floor, notify us.
- 59:57We'll be glad to put our case trays and tubs up on our cases,
- 1:00:00to be out of your way because we wouldn't we wouldn't want them
- 1:00:03to get dirty, right? Right.
- 1:00:05This is the best dress custodian.
- 1:00:07I've ever seen in my life. I've never seen you dirty.
- 1:00:10Never seen him dirty. Yeah, we don't we don't we also
- 1:00:13don't want to blowing out his back trying to lift, five trays,
- 1:00:17empty trays. Yes, five empty trays.
- 1:00:21Yeah. I just, you know, I just sit
- 1:00:25there and laugh as you know, who's running this place.
- 1:00:31Yeah, we just we want you guys to know that everything you do
- 1:00:35and everything. Everything we talk about here in
- 1:00:39in this podcast is 100% for us to have fun with you guys.
- 1:00:47And we bring this information to you to get you to get into
- 1:00:52discussions with your carriers, in your office, with your Local
- 1:00:56Union, steward with your management with everybody.
- 1:01:01I want you guys to go on the national website, an RLC a.org
- 1:01:06and look up this information, we want you to educate yourself
- 1:01:10because the the strongest Union is the most educated Union I get
- 1:01:17active. I mean, that was our think our
- 1:01:19number one goal when we started, this was to get people to be
- 1:01:22active. I mean, even in one capacity or
- 1:01:26another. I see all these people that are
- 1:01:28wanting to get out of the Union, that's not going to make the
- 1:01:31union and you stronger. I see people and in fact there
- 1:01:34was a question posted der, you know, during mid states on what
- 1:01:38would happen if the union was decertified I mean, honestly you
- 1:01:44do not want to be left at the mercy of USPS know, you don't?
- 1:01:51I mean if you want to know what, what if you want to know what
- 1:01:55happens when the union gets decertified, think about all the
- 1:01:58stuff, the union has actually defended you carriers on.
- 1:02:04If we didn't have the union, Rex would have been implemented last
- 1:02:09year. I think it would've been whether
- 1:02:12or not it had errors or not. It would have been implemented a
- 1:02:16long time ago. On top of that, we probably
- 1:02:19would be off the evaluated system on hourly pay.
- 1:02:22Some people say that's great, but we'd be on hourly pay and
- 1:02:27you would have to do whatever management says, when management
- 1:02:31says it. And the only protection, you
- 1:02:35would have really would be yourself.
- 1:02:40You wouldn't have a Union steward that could come in and
- 1:02:43file, a grievance against management for you to get
- 1:02:46yourself paid. Like the carriers that got paid,
- 1:02:50the new evaluation on their current paycheck.
- 1:02:53Even though, it wasn't in effect, yet the Union's fighting
- 1:02:56on that already. We wouldn't have the benefits
- 1:03:00that we have. We wouldn't have the insurance
- 1:03:02available. Able to us that we have
- 1:03:04available. There are so many other
- 1:03:06underlying things that are in there, you know, we're not at
- 1:03:09the national office to see what they do on a daily basis, you
- 1:03:13know, and I posted something on the Facebook page and the
- 1:03:17Instagram earlier and it really kind of touches home to what you
- 1:03:24see out there. You know, it was Morgan Freeman.
- 1:03:28I just absolutely adored it says just because they disagree with,
- 1:03:30you does not mean that I hate you.
- 1:03:33We need to relearn that as innocence in our society, and I
- 1:03:36think we need to relearn that in our Union, as well.
- 1:03:39As we know that, we're not always going to agree.
- 1:03:43And we may always have different opinions with the leaders that
- 1:03:49have been voted in by the, by the delegates of the membership,
- 1:03:53but we still need to respect them, you know?
- 1:03:57Yes, they have been carriers in the past, they have been on the
- 1:04:00board for several of them for many years.
- 1:04:03Years. They are doing a job that they
- 1:04:06were elected to do. If you're not happy with a job
- 1:04:11that they are doing. Then you need to get involved,
- 1:04:15you need to be active, you need to voice that out.
- 1:04:19You need to vote for who you think would do a better job?
- 1:04:26You need to be active in order to do to make that difference.
- 1:04:31You need to be active Of and if you think you can do a better
- 1:04:35job run for office. Yeah, get our name out there.
- 1:04:39I mean, it in front of people, get yourself, active involved
- 1:04:44and show the people that hey, I got a better idea how to do this
- 1:04:48vote for me. They get out there and talk with
- 1:04:53the people, you know, I did run for national office last year, I
- 1:04:57am not formally running for office for national office this
- 1:05:00year. It was kind of brought up to me
- 1:05:04by a couple people in my state, and I may be running for a state
- 1:05:08board position this year, but I had several people approach me
- 1:05:14at the conference this weekend during social time, not just
- 1:05:18from my home state but from other Dates that were asking me
- 1:05:21if I was running again this year.
- 1:05:24That actually I was quite surprised.
- 1:05:26I got that. You know they've got I'm
- 1:05:28standing there talking to Mike and somebody else approaches me
- 1:05:31and Taps me on the shoulder and was like, hey are you running
- 1:05:34again this year? You know, and I'm just like, oh
- 1:05:37wow. Okay, you know, I talked to
- 1:05:39somebody one of the people that is running this year and they
- 1:05:43asked me if I was running again. So it really, you know, you can,
- 1:05:49it's a, it takes time to get your name out there, but you
- 1:05:52have to put the work into it. I mean, I've been doing that for
- 1:05:57since the beginning. I've said on local boards, I was
- 1:06:00a local treasure for four years. I am now, my local VP Iran for
- 1:06:06National last year. I had no expectations of
- 1:06:09winning. I mean, you're not gonna get
- 1:06:10very far on 38 votes, but I learned a lot I really did.
- 1:06:16I've been approached by couple people in my state about running
- 1:06:20for my state board this year. You know, if I run and if I get
- 1:06:24it, great, that just means if I get nominated on the floor at
- 1:06:28Nashville, I will decline it. If I get elected to my state
- 1:06:30board, if I don't get elected to my state board, as I told them,
- 1:06:35I said, I'm not formally running, you know, this next
- 1:06:37year is my daughter senior year of high school kind of want to
- 1:06:40be around for that, but if I was to be nominated on the floor, I
- 1:06:44would not turn. In it down.
- 1:06:46And the only reason I would turn that down now is if I did get
- 1:06:49elected to my state board. So I'm just putting it at that
- 1:06:52out. There is, you know, you have to
- 1:06:54I mean we got one person that's running for executive committee.
- 1:06:56Men who actually just went full as a full-time regular.
- 1:06:59I think he told me last year a year and a half ago, something
- 1:07:02like that. You know, he as an RCA he was on
- 1:07:06his state board. He I think he was president of
- 1:07:08the state board at one time. He was saying, he did couple
- 1:07:10different positions on his skateboard.
- 1:07:12He's been, he's an ADR. You know, you can do that as an
- 1:07:17RCA. Even you can be involved, you
- 1:07:19can be a local Steward. You can apply to be an area or
- 1:07:22an ADR, you can run for your state board, you can sit on your
- 1:07:26state board, your local board, you can run for a national if
- 1:07:29you feel you need to do. So anybody can do that.
- 1:07:32As long as you're in a member of good standing, anybody can step
- 1:07:36up to run, you can step up to run.
- 1:07:38You can go to your your Regional conferences and ask questions,
- 1:07:43you can go to bake. Conferences.
- 1:07:46You can go and ask questions there, you can go to your
- 1:07:48National Conference ask questions there.
- 1:07:51You can contact your local designated union representative.
- 1:07:55Ask questions there, get them involved with, you get to know
- 1:07:58them, get friendly with them because when you need
- 1:08:03information, they should be providing it for you.
- 1:08:06You shouldn't. You shouldn't be relying on
- 1:08:08social media to get your answers.
- 1:08:11You should be getting it from the people who get their
- 1:08:14information. Directly from the national board
- 1:08:17because they're going to be the ones who can guide you the best
- 1:08:20out there supposedly, thank you for that qualification.
- 1:08:28Now my carriers come to me and ask questions and I don't have
- 1:08:33the right answer that's on me, but if I don't have the right
- 1:08:37answer here on the podcast and you're not willing to go and
- 1:08:41research it yourself, that's on you.
- 1:08:45You're the one who has to find the information for yourself,
- 1:08:48whether it's through going through the national website or
- 1:08:51going through your Local Union steward.
- 1:08:54It's on you. This is just fun for us to get
- 1:08:58information to carriers that we believe to be accurate.
- 1:09:01At the time, we talked about it and we get corrected all the
- 1:09:04time we make mistakes. We're only human, but your union
- 1:09:09stewards are the people, you need to be going to get your
- 1:09:12information from. You know what, any
- 1:09:15misinformation that we have put out there may have just been
- 1:09:19part of due to the inconsistent information that's been handed
- 1:09:23out across the board. But you know, if we miss speak
- 1:09:26on something you know, will turn around the next episode and
- 1:09:30correct ourselves now to problem doing that.
- 1:09:33No, you're not, especially with the information coming from
- 1:09:39management from the NRL see a your ADR.
- 1:09:44Your Dr. Yeah, you're getting it from so many different sources
- 1:09:47on top of, you know, the different Facebook groups, you
- 1:09:50know, the rule in Veneto info dotnet, you know, all these
- 1:09:55sources out there all have different perspectives on this
- 1:09:57stuff and, you know, they put their own slant on it if it's
- 1:10:01not in black and white then it's gossip area.
- 1:10:05You know, you can we do make mistakes which?
- 1:10:09Yeah. Or you know, we usually
- 1:10:11self-correct. Yo, among the are Group.
- 1:10:15But if we, even if we still do, make a mistake and you know,
- 1:10:18guess what movement to it? Because we're big enough to do
- 1:10:21that. And we also responsible enough
- 1:10:24to say we made a mistake. This is the corrected version.
- 1:10:27This is how you should go forward because we want you to
- 1:10:30have the most accurate up-to-date information to do
- 1:10:34your job. And we correct it here on the
- 1:10:37podcast where we set it, we don't correct it online, we
- 1:10:41don't correct it on Facebook, be corrected.
- 1:10:44In our podcast because this is where we set it, this is where
- 1:10:48the correction needs to be, that's it, bottom line.
- 1:10:52All right, you know, I misspoke a little bit, you know, we did
- 1:10:59correct it last week by the end of that segment with that
- 1:11:03question. But I just wanted to make sure
- 1:11:06and clarify, you know what, the, you know, with that situation to
- 1:11:11make sure that it was clear. Of what was said, or what was
- 1:11:16intended to be said? Yeah, we may, we may say here
- 1:11:20and just constantly talk and suffer from oral diarrhea, but
- 1:11:26We're here just having a blast with each other talking about
- 1:11:30rural craft stuff. That's what we do.
- 1:11:33That's what we do in our office is.
- 1:11:35That's what we do at home to the dismay of our significant
- 1:11:40others. Definitely.
- 1:11:44I hear about all the time. Don't talk shop?
- 1:11:46Don't talk shop. Don't talk shop.
- 1:11:48But yeah, but we are passionate enough about our craft and about
- 1:11:54our fellow brothers and sisters. Stirs that we want to talk about
- 1:11:57it with each other and let you guys hear what we have to say.
- 1:12:01Well, we compare why we come here and we compared notes to,
- 1:12:06you know what, you know, if Phil's been told one thing, Josh
- 1:12:10told something else. James told something else, I,
- 1:12:13you know, here's something else. You know, we all compare notes
- 1:12:17and we're be just like, wow, that's not unlike what I was
- 1:12:20told. But okay, you know it, that's
- 1:12:24the inconsistency. And it said to have that
- 1:12:27inconsistency. But when you have a service that
- 1:12:31is as large as ours with over 600,000 employees, you're going
- 1:12:38to get in the constituencies 82,000 routes.
- 1:12:43Yeah. Just on the roadside alone on
- 1:12:46the rural side. Won't just just our craft alone.
- 1:12:49Yeah. And you add in the city side.
- 1:12:51Then you add in the clerk's. You add in your main Maintenance
- 1:12:55people including vmf janitors, Building Maintenance your truck
- 1:13:02drivers here, where your management to gets included in
- 1:13:08that count. Even management has to get their
- 1:13:11information from somewhere and everybody's inconsistent on it
- 1:13:15and bits and pieces, get out here and there to each
- 1:13:18Beachside, we're just saying, Do your research, go on the Union
- 1:13:25website. If you don't have access to the
- 1:13:27union website, rural info dotnet post, most of the information
- 1:13:32from the union website itself because they link 1 link to the
- 1:13:37website and that information is there for your consumption and
- 1:13:43our get with your you get with your friend that is or another
- 1:13:48co-worker that is you know, has access See if ya see if they
- 1:13:54can, you know, be like hey you know, or join?
- 1:13:58You know that's good or join. Yeah, that's the best way is to
- 1:14:02join in and get the access yourself.
- 1:14:05But you can always talk with your local.
- 1:14:07Dues-paying member in your office and say, hey, I heard
- 1:14:10this came out on the Union website.
- 1:14:12Could you print it off for me? So I can read it or can you text
- 1:14:16me? A screenshot or something?
- 1:14:18You know, it's there's ways out there.
- 1:14:20It's the best way is Is to join the union and help your fellow
- 1:14:24brothers and sisters of The Craft with going to ease these
- 1:14:28Union conferences and going to your local meetings and stuff
- 1:14:32like that. And I get it.
- 1:14:33Some people they can't afford to they can't afford to join the
- 1:14:37union because they've got a six hundred dollar car payment that
- 1:14:40they're making now plus their house payment plus their kids
- 1:14:44feed feeding their kids putting clothes on their back things
- 1:14:46like that and some people can't Antarctica.
- 1:14:52Our payment. Yeah, I mean, you can't drive
- 1:14:55all the way to the closest local meeting, they can't afford the
- 1:14:59gas to go three hours down to the, to a city, where
- 1:15:03everybody's meeting for the local union, meetings and stuff
- 1:15:06like that. But there's ways you can get
- 1:15:09into that stuff and get involved and find out the information
- 1:15:12that you need to know. Because you got the basic
- 1:15:16information at your orientation, you got basic information from
- 1:15:21your OJT, it At your office but it in any job.
- 1:15:25It's up to you to perfect your craft and take ownership in your
- 1:15:29paycheck. It's your money waiting for you
- 1:15:33to come, get it. But yeah, but those I mean, like
- 1:15:35I said those routes it took a huge hit and those that were
- 1:15:38doing the scans definitely go through your numbers with a
- 1:15:42fine-tooth comb. I mean, preferably end of shift
- 1:15:46time but we all know how management can be with that and
- 1:15:51you're going to go across I turn.
- 1:15:52Look at that in a hurry, you know, if you could just, you
- 1:15:56know take your time and go through that stuff and make sure
- 1:15:59your information is correct and if it's not then dispute it.
- 1:16:04But yeah, we're going to start winding it down and it's been a
- 1:16:09little bit. Yeah so much.
- 1:16:13So much information out there available and even if not you
- 1:16:18know you should have a PO 603 at your case.
- 1:16:22Yes, that is your duties and responsibilities.
- 1:16:25That's one of the things that you should read and learn is
- 1:16:28everything that you can do for your job, and make sure that you
- 1:16:33are doing it to the best of your ability.
- 1:16:35Because the only person, now that's capable of changing your
- 1:16:42evaluation in a meaningful way. Is yourself.
- 1:16:47No longer do we. Have these two accounts where
- 1:16:50they bring in a bunch of postal managers to count everything.
- 1:16:53Now, it's everything you do every single day.
- 1:16:58So make sure you're doing what you need to do to protect your
- 1:17:03salary. Now in the next, mini mail
- 1:17:06survey, it's going to go 52 weeks back, you're always going
- 1:17:09to have peak season included in, so just remember that.
- 1:17:14It's a 52-week rolling average. So, where you didn't know
- 1:17:21because you weren't properly trained uncertain scans.
- 1:17:25And now, you know, That is going to.
- 1:17:28It may take a year to catch up with you but you know, just just
- 1:17:33keep in that stuff and taking the ownership of it.
- 1:17:37Including the RCA's. Yes, you're just as important
- 1:17:42take ownership of that. And you know, it'll work itself
- 1:17:47out. I mean, that's really, you know,
- 1:17:49unfortunately some routes we're going to go down regardless when
- 1:17:51you haven't had any sort of male count in five years, things
- 1:17:54change and five years is a long time.
- 1:17:57I'm not to count. And I know that a lot of people
- 1:17:59are hurting right now. Even in my office, they're
- 1:18:03hurting because this is a gut punch for a lot of people.
- 1:18:10And I know September is a long way off for a lot of people, but
- 1:18:16when we reach September, it's yeah, you're counting down the
- 1:18:20days to that. Yeah, I'll be going regular
- 1:18:23about the same time, the next Evaluations?
- 1:18:28What I come in. But the key here is, is those
- 1:18:32routes that are under a value undervalued right now, because
- 1:18:37we didn't put in the scans, we weren't trained on them, we
- 1:18:39didn't have them. We weren't told to use them.
- 1:18:43If you're doing your scans, and your route is undervalued right
- 1:18:47now, you're working more than what your route is evaluated.
- 1:18:50At, when these countless count happens is September.
- 1:18:53And the numbers come back in October, most likely your routes
- 1:18:57going to go back up. Most likely Maybe you may not
- 1:19:01think so it won't go fully back up because you're going to still
- 1:19:05have six months of no scans on there.
- 1:19:08But you're going to going to start creeping up towards your
- 1:19:10actual evaluation and I know that's not a consoling
- 1:19:13situation, it doesn't Comfort anybody, but hopefully with
- 1:19:19that. Also we can argue that.
- 1:19:21Well we've got proof that it's gone up three hours here and it
- 1:19:25was evaluated this now it's gone up three hours.
- 1:19:27If we take that and we tabulate it up, it means is that Ralph's
- 1:19:31probably going to go up four and a half five hours by the time
- 1:19:34it's all said and done. Maybe, let's just depends on
- 1:19:37what happens with the mail volumes.
- 1:19:40And we can hope we can hope and pray that if that's the case the
- 1:19:45union has something on the side with management that says hey if
- 1:19:49these guys go up on their next count, we should pay him
- 1:19:53something for this. Last six months, don't hold your
- 1:19:56breath, on the may not, it may not happen but we can always
- 1:19:59hope for that. We hope for the best and prepare
- 1:20:02for the worst is I don't hold your breath on anything like
- 1:20:05that. But on that note, we are going
- 1:20:07to wind it down for tonight. So So James or any other last
- 1:20:11final words tonight. Just remember everything is
- 1:20:14Carrier discretion on these scams and supposedly the
- 1:20:19resolution of the dispute form will come out shortly, and then
- 1:20:24we can use that to file our stuff.
- 1:20:26Just make sure you're being accurate.
- 1:20:28Make sure you're being honest and just do your job to the best
- 1:20:32of your ability because the most important person on this
- 1:20:36evaluation is you whether you're a regular RCA ATF or even an
- 1:20:42arc, that's running packages your important to us.
- 1:20:48You are the rural crafts. You are our brothers and sisters
- 1:20:51out there in the field. Working your job tirelessly day
- 1:20:54in and day out and just know that no matter what we're here
- 1:20:58for, you just like everybody else.
- 1:21:02Josh you have any last commentary for this evening?
- 1:21:07Just like the rest. Make sure your you take the
- 1:21:12time, check your sheets and your numbers.
- 1:21:17Do the skins that you know are valid scans like James said,
- 1:21:23come September, if you doing scans that you just recently
- 1:21:29learned between now and September.
- 1:21:33You'll recoup at least part of what you want a 10.
- 1:21:40Come next March April. Hopefully, you'll be back to
- 1:21:46where you were if it was the scan that caused the issue.
- 1:21:53Obviously loss of volume is loss of volume and the lower time.
- 1:21:59Stan? Don't you don't help, right?
- 1:22:02You know, but I know they said, you know, yes that some standard
- 1:22:08went down but there are a lot more standards now and there's
- 1:22:14some standards that this standard went down but it's tied
- 1:22:18to other standards elsewhere and I still don't quite understand
- 1:22:23all that so I'm not even gonna touch on that but If you get
- 1:22:29overwhelmed, take a step back. Take a deep breath.
- 1:22:32Step back in, have a good rest to your wheat, and we'll see you
- 1:22:37on the other side Bill. Yes.
- 1:22:41Dear, you're your final statements for this evening.
- 1:22:51Well if nothing else folks, this an email survey should serve as
- 1:22:56a wake-up call to everybody 66% of our fellow carriers lost
- 1:23:02time. Some lost dramatically.
- 1:23:07So this this is a good sign for you to say, okay, I'm going to
- 1:23:12be more involved in my career. I'm going to be more involved in
- 1:23:16my protecting, my salary, my family, my future.
- 1:23:22If you haven't been doing all the scans Step it up.
- 1:23:26Okay. If you have questions, ask them
- 1:23:30if you have doubts. Yeah record them in regards to
- 1:23:33the radar reports according to your end of run reports your
- 1:23:39Parcels everything. I mean question question
- 1:23:42question. You know and get the information
- 1:23:46if you don't record it, you can track it if you don't track it,
- 1:23:50you can't prove that you have a case and you know the case is
- 1:23:54that you know your route. Under evaluated, you know,
- 1:23:58unfortunately in my office we've all been under evaluated for
- 1:24:03about five years. So you know, all I can say is,
- 1:24:07you know protect yourself and your salary and your family's
- 1:24:11welfare as well as the routes value to because you may, you
- 1:24:15know, bid on another route and I would like you to take into
- 1:24:19consideration the next person that made step into that case
- 1:24:23and and you know, be considerate enough.
- 1:24:25If to say, you know, I'm going to make sure they're getting
- 1:24:28full value of what this route true, you know, salary is in
- 1:24:33regards to compensation the work, everything it goes into
- 1:24:38performing your duties, professionally and efficiently
- 1:24:40everyday. If you don't put it in the
- 1:24:43scanner it doesn't go in the wallet.
- 1:24:46Everybody go out, do the best job.
- 1:24:48You can be safe, you know, get back and to shift duties clock
- 1:24:54out. Go home to your loved ones.
- 1:24:55Is your the most important delivery the day.
- 1:24:58Make sure you get your ass home to the people who truly care
- 1:25:01about you and the people that you represent the reason why you
- 1:25:06go to the post office every day. Some people may say it's just a
- 1:25:09job, some people consider a career, it doesn't matter if
- 1:25:13they're paying you to do a job, do it to the best of your
- 1:25:16ability. Exactly.
- 1:25:18And do the full job. You know, it's Hey, what's still
- 1:25:24trying times? Are still a lot of uncertainty.
- 1:25:27We're waiting on, hopefully, they can work out the bugs, by
- 1:25:31the time we do our next mini mail survey, that's our hope.
- 1:25:34Anyways, what reality will be. I can't say at this time we will
- 1:25:41on that note. We'll see you guys back.
- 1:25:43I think we're going to do normal day and time.
