- 0:03Speaker 1: and you have to see Gladiator at some point. I
- 0:05Speaker 1: probably will now, Yeah, we got to get that. I'm
- 0:08Speaker 1: gonna definitely be guilted into it by this. Hopefully it
- 0:11Speaker 1: was in the Seattle Times yesterday.
- 0:12Speaker 2: I see how Times reporter called and asked me about
- 0:14Speaker 2: the show, and good for them.
- 0:16Speaker 3: Good for everybody. Yeah, it's great.
- 0:19Speaker 2: I'm back and Chris and I did a show from
- 0:21Speaker 2: twenty twenty four into twenty twenty five.
- 0:24Speaker 3: I haven't got anywhere.
- 0:25Speaker 2: I've been on seven AM with Chuck and Buck all
- 0:27Speaker 2: the time talking Seahawks and doing Super Bowl shows and whatnot.
- 0:30Speaker 3: But here we are.
- 0:31Speaker 2: This is the full time gig now from ten to noon,
- 0:33Speaker 2: the Greg Bell Show with Christopher Kidd, a permanent slot
- 0:36Speaker 2: before the twelve to three show for Ian Furness, anders
- 0:40Speaker 2: Hurst and Jessmon McIntyre, and then of course Dave Softimuller
- 0:43Speaker 2: and Dick Fane will have a regular show from three
- 0:46Speaker 2: to seven. So that's our lineup again. That's the full
- 0:47Speaker 2: time gig. And people have been asking, well is this Nope,
- 0:50Speaker 2: this is the deal, So welcome back to me and
- 0:53Speaker 2: Chris and hopefully you'll enjoyed.
- 0:55Speaker 3: Thanks for listening.
- 0:56Speaker 2: Big Seahawks Draft week, of course, the NFL Draft taking precedents.
- 1:00Speaker 2: We're gonna talk during this show about what head coach
- 1:03Speaker 2: Mike McDonald said blew him away yesterday on the first
- 1:06Speaker 2: day of the Seahawks voluntary offseason program.
- 1:09Speaker 3: It's similar to last year at this time and that
- 1:11Speaker 3: worked out pretty well.
- 1:12Speaker 2: You'll hear a McDonald and gentlemanager John Schneider think of
- 1:15Speaker 2: the Seahawks running back situation. I asked him point blank,
- 1:18Speaker 2: how you feel about your running back room right now?
- 1:20Speaker 3: Two days before the draft. You'll hear what they said.
- 1:23Speaker 2: At eleven am our Cracking kJ R man Mike Betton,
- 1:26Speaker 2: the captain's going to join us. A day before Cracking
- 1:28Speaker 2: GM Jason bool is scheduled to talk into press conference
- 1:32Speaker 2: at the team's ice plicks in Northgate. It'll be talking
- 1:34Speaker 2: about the state of the team, one that's missed the
- 1:36Speaker 2: playoffs four of the five years of their existence.
- 1:39Speaker 3: And I'm gonna ask Mike at eleven o'clock, Mike Benton,
- 1:41Speaker 3: what do they need to do?
- 1:43Speaker 2: Just if you had to ask the Cracking leadership, which,
- 1:48Speaker 2: of course now Ron Francis is not a part of
- 1:50Speaker 2: leaving as the president and now Jason Bartroll taking over
- 1:52Speaker 2: full all personnel matters and hockey matters for Jason Botterroll.
- 1:58Speaker 2: What would you say he needs to fix first, asked
- 2:00Speaker 2: Mike Bett at eleven o'clock.
- 2:02Speaker 3: Eleven thirty.
- 2:03Speaker 2: We'll readback your text like we do every time every day.
- 2:06Speaker 2: At that time, four nine four to five one is
- 2:08Speaker 2: coma dodge text on your chance to be a part
- 2:10Speaker 2: of the show. We'll keep one question out there for
- 2:13Speaker 2: you to respond to. Who in what position do you
- 2:16Speaker 2: want to Seaxra draft first?
- 2:17Speaker 3: And why? Said edge which Mike McDon can never get
- 2:21Speaker 3: enough of, is.
- 2:22Speaker 2: A corner to backfill Reek wooland leaving for twelve million
- 2:26Speaker 2: dollars to the Philadelphia Eagles is a wide receiver which
- 2:30Speaker 2: you wouldn't think they need, but they seem to always
- 2:32Speaker 2: draft them, always step from the defensive line. Jaren Reid's
- 2:36Speaker 2: turning thirty four during this season. De Marcus Lawrence is
- 2:38Speaker 2: thirty four. What do you think fourtnite four to five
- 2:42Speaker 2: one will read back your text at eleven thirty before
- 2:45Speaker 2: Ian fornesl join me. He's in the Studio's gonna be
- 2:47Speaker 2: in the studio today. He was at the vMac yesterday.
- 2:48Speaker 2: I went and saw him.
- 2:49Speaker 3: After our show. First off the Top.

- 2:53Speaker 2: dollars our Grand Slam cash giveaway. Listen every weekday, every

- 3:06Speaker 2: Hopefully you are near and dear too. Hope you're so
- 3:08Speaker 2: fortunate Family Famioli entered that now at our website nine
- 3:12Speaker 2: through three KJR dot com. For your chance and win
- 3:14Speaker 2: one thousand dollars. We'll have another word next hour, and
- 3:17Speaker 2: each hour through the day through six pm. That contest
- 3:20Speaker 2: runs all the way through May twentieth, twenty second, in fact,
- 3:23Speaker 2: so I'm gonna be doing that for a while. All right, Chris,
- 3:28Speaker 2: you're watching Marins last night three three in the eighth and.
- 3:31Speaker 3: Then casey beans comes in, casey Bean.
- 3:34Speaker 2: That's a pretty funny night. I heard Chris Crawford on
- 3:36Speaker 2: Ian Fanessa's show calling casey beans as in legum legumina
- 3:41Speaker 2: legom Spanish word for beans. Casey beans comes in the game,
- 3:44Speaker 2: and you're I had not been watching most of the game.
- 3:47Speaker 2: I am partial to the Stanley Cup playoffs and weeknights
- 3:50Speaker 2: this time of year.
- 3:51Speaker 3: But I I.
- 3:53Speaker 2: Was, wait, what's Casey Beans doing in the game the
- 3:55Speaker 2: eighth inning. Turns out the reason why Lagomina was in
- 3:58Speaker 2: the game is because Matt Brash and Spire and some
- 4:01Speaker 2: of the other setup guys manager Dan Wilson had said
- 4:04Speaker 2: before the game were not available because of wear and
- 4:07Speaker 2: tear over the weekend and in the previous series at
- 4:09Speaker 2: San Diego.
- 4:11Speaker 3: So that's what you got. You got Legamena in a
- 4:13Speaker 3: three to three game in the.
- 4:14Speaker 2: Eighth and you see why they have what they have
- 4:17Speaker 2: in bullpen hierarchy and over one hundred and sixty two
- 4:20Speaker 2: game season. You just can't trot them out there every
- 4:22Speaker 2: single game, and you hope your starters like Brian Wu
- 4:25Speaker 2: can get into the seventh eighth inning so that you
- 4:27Speaker 2: don't have to do those kind of moves. Well, anyway,
- 4:29Speaker 2: three to three becomes six to three in a hurry,
- 4:32Speaker 2: and that was that the Mariners end up losing six
- 4:33Speaker 2: to four. Concerned Chris that, I mean the bullpen first,
- 4:39Speaker 2: it's Andres Munos. This is now two times in what
- 4:42Speaker 2: five days, the Mariners have given up six nothing leads
- 4:46Speaker 2: and three nothing leads as their bullpen have given them up.
- 4:49Speaker 2: They've lost two games leading a combined nine to nothing.
- 4:51Speaker 3: They won up six.
- 4:52Speaker 2: They were up six to oh at San Diego and
- 4:55Speaker 2: Andres Munoz gives up five in the bottom of the
- 4:57Speaker 2: night to lose seven to six. And then last night
- 5:00Speaker 2: they're up three not thing with what has been their
- 5:02Speaker 2: best starter, Emerson Hancock on the mount into the sixth thing,
- 5:05Speaker 2: and then all of a sudden, three home runs and
- 5:06Speaker 2: it's bam, bam, bami it's three three, and then like
- 5:08Speaker 2: Amina comes in a.
- 5:10Speaker 3: Bullpen that you would kind of count on. Yeah, two
- 5:13Speaker 3: times in a few days now.
- 5:15Speaker 1: So we all know about the green flags and the
- 5:17Speaker 1: red flags, all right here we go.
- 5:18Speaker 3: Yeah, so I.
- 5:19Speaker 1: Think the manners there they're yellow flags right now. Like
- 5:23Speaker 1: I don't think it's red quite yet, but the yellow
- 5:27Speaker 1: is like, hey, guys, what's going on here?
- 5:29Speaker 3: This is the athletics we're talking about. Like an orange
- 5:31Speaker 3: almost an orange.
- 5:32Speaker 1: I wouldn't go orange, I'm gonna go I'm gonna sticking
- 5:34Speaker 1: strictly yellow.
- 5:35Speaker 3: It's a concern for sure.
- 5:38Speaker 1: They're hovering not where they need to be at ten
- 5:41Speaker 1: and fourteen, fourth in the als. If I'm not mistaken.
- 5:43Speaker 1: Let me pull it up in double check. But the
- 5:45Speaker 1: offense has been just awful at times. I think we
- 5:48Speaker 1: can all agree to that team's batting around one eighty
- 5:51Speaker 1: five overall as a team. Let can do your homework,
- 5:54Speaker 1: Chris hey Man, you have to, so let me continue.
- 5:57Speaker 1: The best players a Julio Naylor, they've all started slow.
- 6:03Speaker 1: It's cool when you have maybe just Julio starting slow,
- 6:05Speaker 1: but when you have all three that makes for it
- 6:10Speaker 1: makes it that much more harder. That's like if you're
- 6:12Speaker 1: playing basketball and your two best players are just not
- 6:14Speaker 1: playing ball well. The point you need them to do
- 6:17Speaker 1: their job and be effective, and right now those three
- 6:20Speaker 1: guys are not not to mention the offense as a hole.
- 6:24Speaker 1: So you're asking guys to get together and the season
- 6:27Speaker 1: is going to continue going on. They got to win
- 6:29Speaker 1: the series. Obviously. You don't want to lose to an
- 6:32Speaker 1: Athletics team that people are like, well, who's on their
- 6:34Speaker 1: roster the first place Athletics now, Chris Well, I wasn't.
- 6:37Speaker 1: I'm not going to go without it was encouraged though.
- 6:39Speaker 2: It was encouraging though that cal Rawley in the first
- 6:41Speaker 2: ending last night hit a home run to the opposite
- 6:43Speaker 2: field as a left handed batter hit a home run
- 6:46Speaker 2: the left center for the deepest part of the park.
- 6:48Speaker 3: He's had sixty four.
- 6:49Speaker 2: Home runs maybe sixty four to sixty five home runs
- 6:52Speaker 2: in his.
- 6:52Speaker 3: Career at T Mobile Park.
- 6:54Speaker 2: That was only the fourth one to the opposite field
- 6:57Speaker 2: ever in his career. So that is encouraging because we
- 7:01Speaker 2: know and we've seen this team loves to pull the
- 7:03Speaker 2: ball and try to hit at the Mercer Island or
- 7:06Speaker 2: North Gate if you're a right handed batter, and that
- 7:09Speaker 2: is encouraging. Julia Rodriguez has had some opposite fielding. Even
- 7:13Speaker 2: Josh Naylor beat the shift last night later in the
- 7:15Speaker 2: game and hit a single to the opposite field. To me,
- 7:20Speaker 2: the very amateur baseball coach that I am, that's the
- 7:24Speaker 2: key is to not think you have to pull everything
- 7:26Speaker 2: to succeed. And once you start hitting to all fields
- 7:29Speaker 2: and hitting pitchers the.
- 7:30Speaker 3: Whites again, their whites and their eyes. Go back to
- 7:36Speaker 3: last year.
- 7:39Speaker 2: Coaching high school baseball here in Seattle, the varsity team
- 7:43Speaker 2: University Prep. I used to tell the hitters, right handed batters,
- 7:46Speaker 2: I was in the third bait. High school coaches sit
- 7:48Speaker 2: and stand in the third well stand in a third
- 7:51Speaker 2: base coaching box, and I used to tell my hitters,
- 7:52Speaker 2: if I can see the whites in your eyes, that
- 7:55Speaker 2: means you're pulling your head so far out.
- 7:56Speaker 3: You're looking at me, why to third base? You're right, Chris.
- 8:00Speaker 2: There are times that the Mariners I sit behind the
- 8:03Speaker 2: third bait when I go, I try to sit behind
- 8:05Speaker 2: the third base dugout in the third base bag, and
- 8:09Speaker 2: at times you can see the whites in the Mariner's eyes.
- 8:11Speaker 2: They're right handed hitters. They're trying to hit it.
- 8:13Speaker 3: So pull it. Hey, get on base, guys, Let's let's
- 8:16Speaker 3: do that.
- 8:17Speaker 1: I know this team is strong at homer's and scoring
- 8:20Speaker 1: quick runs, but I think they gotta find a way
- 8:23Speaker 1: to get on base. This is why you brought Edgar
- 8:25Speaker 1: Martinez in to assist with your hitting and your approach
- 8:28Speaker 1: to the game. They got to put it together. I
- 8:30Speaker 1: don't want to see multiple losing streets from this team.
- 8:33Speaker 1: That's just too a consistent. So right now I'm pulling
- 8:35Speaker 1: up the yellow flag for the Mariners, and if this
- 8:38Speaker 1: continues for like the next two three weeks, it's going to.
- 8:41Speaker 3: Go RDS May first. Is that too soon?
- 8:45Speaker 1: I mean, we've been in this position before and maybe
- 8:48Speaker 1: I'll just keep it yellow through through May.
- 8:51Speaker 2: Honestly, that's a four nine. It's coming down to test line.
- 8:55Speaker 2: I don't mean to interrupt, Chris, but it brings up
- 8:57Speaker 2: a point when for you is panic on the Mariners
- 9:00Speaker 2: four nine four five one. To me, the history of
- 9:03Speaker 2: this team, the fact they have pitching. I'm talking July
- 9:06Speaker 2: All Star break, maybe the end of July.
- 9:08Speaker 1: I'm going to jump on your back and agree with
- 9:10Speaker 1: you on that, just because we've been here, right. Yes,
- 9:13Speaker 1: we literally when we first did this, so it was, oh, yeah,
- 9:16Speaker 1: it's a wrap, you know, let's look forward to Yeah.
- 9:19Speaker 1: And then a few weeks later we're like, oh, we
- 9:21Speaker 1: definitely jumped the gun, and people in the text I
- 9:23Speaker 1: was like, oh, yeah, good job guys.
- 9:25Speaker 3: Some Mariner fans you are. Here's the other reason, Chris.
- 9:27Speaker 3: This year, I'm saying, maybe July August, look at the
- 9:30Speaker 3: American League.
- 9:31Speaker 1: Yeah, it's not as It's not what you would expect
- 9:34Speaker 1: going into season. You would think there would be a
- 9:36Speaker 1: clear cut, Oh, this is the best team i e.
- 9:38Speaker 1: The Mariners, and that is not the case. But it's
- 9:40Speaker 1: all mumbo jumbo and everybody is struggling to find their
- 9:44Speaker 1: consistent best.
- 9:46Speaker 3: They're just trying.
- 9:47Speaker 1: They're struggling to find a consistency. I know, or less
- 9:49Speaker 1: than a month into the Major League Baseball season. But
- 9:51Speaker 1: the Yankees are the best team in the American League,
- 9:53Speaker 1: but only thirteen and nine.
- 9:55Speaker 3: That thirteen and nine, that's not great.
- 9:57Speaker 2: Thirteen and eleven is Cleveland is leading the AL Central.
- 10:00Speaker 3: A good week and a half in the maners on
- 10:01Speaker 3: first right.
- 10:02Speaker 2: And maybe not even that. The Athletics are leading the
- 10:05Speaker 2: West at twelve and eleven. Yeah, that's I mean, you
- 10:08Speaker 2: look at the National League, it's completely given. The Braves
- 10:10Speaker 2: are sixteen and seven, the Reds of all people are
- 10:13Speaker 2: fifteen and eight. My Pirates are thirteen and nine. The
- 10:16Speaker 2: Dodgers are the Dodgers, of course, sixteen and six, Padres
- 10:19Speaker 2: fifteen and seven. But there's some horses over there, but
- 10:23Speaker 2: there's some donkeys.
- 10:24Speaker 3: In the American League.
- 10:25Speaker 2: I mean, like to your point, Chris, if the Marriers
- 10:29Speaker 2: went like three or four in a row, they're going
- 10:31Speaker 2: to be in first place. There are four games under
- 10:33Speaker 2: five hundred, yet just two and a half back because
- 10:35Speaker 2: the Athletics are at first place at twelve and eleven
- 10:38Speaker 2: and a Chris's point nobody's expecting the Sacramento Athletics to
- 10:41Speaker 2: be around in July or August near the top. But
- 10:45Speaker 2: if this division says so bad, they will.
- 10:47Speaker 3: It's crazy. It is because no one expected that to
- 10:50Speaker 3: be the case.
- 10:51Speaker 1: The Manners were the clear cut number one guys to
- 10:54Speaker 1: win this division. And now you're like, huh.
- 10:57Speaker 2: Really, I'm not going red until they're this far under
- 11:00Speaker 2: five hundred or worse until in the July man.
- 11:02Speaker 3: Let me go ahead and join that bandwagon. There, Greg
- 11:05Speaker 3: is a room over there once been twice shy.
- 11:07Speaker 1: Yeah, of course, okay for you, Chris. There's always room,
- 11:09Speaker 1: thank you, so always room, thank you. So four nine
- 11:12Speaker 1: four five one, how about you?
- 11:13Speaker 2: I mean, this populace would not be happy if we're
- 11:16Speaker 2: in July and there are four games under five hundred.
- 11:18Speaker 3: I get it.
- 11:19Speaker 1: For the con second Indivision, you'll be okay, exactly, you
- 11:21Speaker 1: could be four games under five hundred. I got to
- 11:24Speaker 1: find a streak here there somewhere between.
- 11:26Speaker 3: They are.
- 11:27Speaker 2: They are one series from being in first place. Yea,
- 11:30Speaker 2: they are now. They swept the trash Cans last week
- 11:33Speaker 2: and then it went that they did in San Diego,
- 11:36Speaker 2: so they're they're negated that but yeah, I'm I'm.
- 11:41Speaker 3: Not I'm not concerned. What flag are you raising? It? Still?
- 11:45Speaker 3: Still it's still yellow? Oh so yellow?
- 11:47Speaker 1: It's not green because they're obviously they're not obviously not blying, Chris,
- 11:52Speaker 1: what I'm watching is not good.
- 11:53Speaker 3: I have watched the.
- 11:53Speaker 2: Game or two, so now I can't call it green.
- 11:55Speaker 2: But it's it's a it's a pretty good, Amria. It's
- 11:59Speaker 2: it's here we go.
- 12:00Speaker 1: Yellow flag it is. We have raised our yellow flags,
- 12:02Speaker 1: manor fans. Yeah, yellow flag it is.
- 12:05Speaker 3: It sure ain't white. It's a long, long season. It's
- 12:08Speaker 3: a long season. We're not retiring the team yet. We
- 12:10Speaker 3: believe in them.
- 12:11Speaker 2: But four nine, four to five one level concern. And
- 12:13Speaker 2: when would that flag turn red?
- 12:15Speaker 3: For you?
- 12:16Speaker 2: Maybe it's already red, but when would that be? And
- 12:19Speaker 2: again the pitching staff. This team has the division they're in.
- 12:23Speaker 2: It looks like the league they're going to be in
- 12:25Speaker 2: this year. They're going to be in it. Even with
- 12:28Speaker 2: the fielding of problems, the hitting inconsistencies, they're going to
- 12:31Speaker 2: be in it.
- 12:32Speaker 3: The draft on Thursday. How it works is.
- 12:36Speaker 2: Those of you who've been around a while to probably
- 12:37Speaker 2: already know this. But the first round begins at just
- 12:40Speaker 2: after five pm. They got to have some huhas and
- 12:43Speaker 2: dignitaries and Goodell got to say his stuff. It's on
- 12:46Speaker 2: a stage at Point State Park in Pittsburgh, which is
- 12:48Speaker 2: where the three rivers come confluence, right there at Old
- 12:51Speaker 2: Fort pitt thirty minutes from where I grew up. And
- 12:55Speaker 2: this year, Chris, instead of ten minutes between first round picks,
- 12:58Speaker 2: it's eight. And I thought it was pretty good. There's
- 13:01Speaker 2: been gms around the league. Oh, this is going to
- 13:03Speaker 2: be terrible. I'm gonna be pressed. And John Schneider, he's
- 13:07Speaker 2: a Super Bowl champion, so he has the advantage of
- 13:09Speaker 2: being the thirty second pick and getting to watch all
- 13:11Speaker 2: this the whole night.
- 13:12Speaker 3: He's like, yeah, I doesn't matter.
- 13:14Speaker 2: What it does do is it condenses the trade opportunities
- 13:16Speaker 2: in the times that teams had to call by two minutes.
- 13:19Speaker 2: I mean, come on, but the trades happen on the
- 13:24Speaker 2: clock or right before the clock they start, the calls
- 13:27Speaker 2: really get going Thursday morning. Schneider brought this up again yesterday.
- 13:31Speaker 2: But the actual meat potatoes of trade talks happen when
- 13:34Speaker 2: teams are about to be or are on the clock
- 13:36Speaker 2: and they've started to see what the other teams in
- 13:39Speaker 2: the league are doing and who's picked and what quarterback
- 13:41Speaker 2: may have fallen. Ty Simpson to me, is a key
- 13:44Speaker 2: to the Seahawks being able to trade back at thirty two.
- 13:46Speaker 2: Why is that, Well, ty Simpson is the quarterback from Alabama,
- 13:50Speaker 2: is not reputed to be a top enough draft quarterback
- 13:55Speaker 2: to go in the top half of the first round,
- 13:57Speaker 2: so theory goes that he will be available late in
- 13:59Speaker 2: round one one at thirty two.
- 14:01Speaker 3: In fact, when the Seahawks turn to.
- 14:03Speaker 2: Pick, that would be a prime situation for the Seahawks
- 14:07Speaker 2: to trade back. Let's look at a team like Arizona.
- 14:10Speaker 2: They have the thirty fourth pick overall, the second pick
- 14:12Speaker 2: in round two. Arizona just cut Kiva Murray. They signed
- 14:17Speaker 2: your man Gardner Minshew Koog, a stop gup you can
- 14:21Speaker 2: get and say he's your franchise quarterback. So the Cardinals
- 14:25Speaker 2: have the third pick overall in the draft. A lot
- 14:29Speaker 2: of people think Mendoza to the Raiders and then that's
- 14:31Speaker 2: it for a while for quarterbacks in this draft.
- 14:34Speaker 3: Again, we've all talked about how.
- 14:35Speaker 2: Overall it's a weaker draft, But if ty Simpson, for instance,
- 14:39Speaker 2: is not picked in the top half of the top
- 14:40Speaker 2: two thirds of the first round, and he's still available
- 14:43Speaker 2: at thirty two, and Arizona has not picked a quarterback
- 14:45Speaker 2: like we don't think they will at three, Arizona could
- 14:48Speaker 2: be in play to move up from thirty four to
- 14:50Speaker 2: thirty two. Now the Cardinals may say, well, that's only
- 14:53Speaker 2: two spots and we don't think thirty three is going
- 14:55Speaker 2: to take Ty Simpson and thirty three, I'm not mistaken,
- 15:00Speaker 2: should be the Raiders, unless no, it's the Jets actually
- 15:02Speaker 2: from a trade that the Jets could be in play
- 15:06Speaker 2: for Ty Simpson right because Geno Smith is not going
- 15:09Speaker 2: to quarterback them forever. They remember Gino Smith has re
- 15:12Speaker 2: signed with the Jets like it's back to the future.
- 15:16Speaker 2: So you could see Arizona thinking, well, we need to
- 15:19Speaker 2: leap frog the Jets at thirty three to get the
- 15:21Speaker 2: thirty two to take Ty Simpsons before the Jets do
- 15:23Speaker 2: at thirty three. If we stay put at thirty four,
- 15:25Speaker 2: we're gonna get them. And that's where the first prime
- 15:28Speaker 2: candidate to trade with the Seahawks at thirty two would
- 15:30Speaker 2: come up. But the Jets, excuse me, the Cardinals will
- 15:32Speaker 2: not know that, of course, until they're on the clock
- 15:34Speaker 2: over the Seahawks, I should say, are about on the clock,
- 15:37Speaker 2: which is why the trades don't really come real. The
- 15:40Speaker 2: talks don't really become real until then. Would the Cardinals
- 15:43Speaker 2: be so desperate to jump the Jets that they might
- 15:46Speaker 2: overpay for dumping two spots and give the Seahawks not
- 15:48Speaker 2: only the fourth round pick, but perhaps two for the
- 15:51Speaker 2: fifth round pick. Seahawks don't have picks in round four, five,
- 15:54Speaker 2: or seven in this draft. They have a pick at
- 15:56Speaker 2: the bottom of one, bottom of two, bottom of three,
- 15:58Speaker 2: and then they pick seventh or eighth in the sixth
- 16:01Speaker 2: round in a trade from Nick Harrison Center to the
- 16:03Speaker 2: Browns last summer. If not them, I have on the
- 16:07Speaker 2: News Tribune dot Com my mock draft said, and the
- 16:09Speaker 2: Seaks are going to trade with the Cleveland Browns at
- 16:11Speaker 2: thirty nine and move back and get a fourth round
- 16:13Speaker 2: pick from the Browns. The Browns may not need a quarterback.
- 16:17Speaker 2: They may, but should hear Sanders Deshaun Watson that fiasco.
- 16:21Speaker 2: But the Browns also have two first round picks already,
- 16:23Speaker 2: the Cardinals only have one. Tennessee is another team with
- 16:26Speaker 2: multiple picks in rounds four and five that could move
- 16:29Speaker 2: up six to seven spots from top ten in round
- 16:33Speaker 2: two to the Seahawks at thirty two, but they have
- 16:34Speaker 2: a quarterback they just drafted number one overall on cam
- 16:37Speaker 2: Ward last year. Quarterbacks tend to be the reason you
- 16:39Speaker 2: jump in why because teams like to get quarterbacks on
- 16:43Speaker 2: first round contracts.
- 16:44Speaker 3: In case they hit, because if they hit, you then.
- 16:47Speaker 2: Have the option fifty year contract option because of virtue
- 16:50Speaker 2: of being a first round pick. The only draft picks
- 16:52Speaker 2: in the draft to get fifty year options are first
- 16:54Speaker 2: round picks. It's not a guarantee, but the option for
- 16:57Speaker 2: a team is only for first round picks. So teams
- 17:01Speaker 2: like to hedge into the first round and get a
- 17:03Speaker 2: quarterback that maybe second round talent in the first round
- 17:05Speaker 2: so that if he does hit, you got him on
- 17:07Speaker 2: relatively cheap. If he's playing top of the league and
- 17:10Speaker 2: you have a fifth round option on him, you're gonna
- 17:12Speaker 2: that's a great deal to have a quarterback playing at
- 17:14Speaker 2: top of the league worthy of a fifth round option
- 17:16Speaker 2: yet paying rookie salary with Now, of course the fifth
- 17:18Speaker 2: round option is the average top ten salaries at the position,
- 17:22Speaker 2: but still that's the reason you trade into the first round.
- 17:25Speaker 2: Now it's not all exclusive to quarterbacks. But that's usually
- 17:28Speaker 2: the quickest way in anyway. That is John Schneider just
- 17:32Speaker 2: flat out. I mean, he might as well, as I
- 17:34Speaker 2: wrote in my lead for the story at the News Tribune,
- 17:36Speaker 2: he might as well have been wearing a sandwich board
- 17:38Speaker 2: walking up and down four h five advertising that the
- 17:41Speaker 2: pick is for sale.
- 17:42Speaker 1: We know, John, we know we we've been watching you
- 17:45Speaker 1: for decades, well ten days a decade, excuse sixty sixteen years,
- 17:51Speaker 1: that's right. Yeah, it's okay, John, We understand.
- 17:53Speaker 3: He's traded a first.
- 17:54Speaker 2: Round pick fourteen times in sixteen years, ten times down
- 17:58Speaker 2: and the other four times involved players.
- 18:00Speaker 1: Never shock as if you took a player of thirty second,
- 18:02Speaker 1: that will be like, oh my gosh, they did it okay, And.
- 18:04Speaker 2: That would have to be that their guy is right
- 18:06Speaker 2: there and they But more than that, they have to
- 18:08Speaker 2: think that the Jets, the Cardinals and the teams behind
- 18:10Speaker 2: them would take them. If they don't at thirty two,
- 18:13Speaker 2: that's when you have to pick at thirty two. If
- 18:15Speaker 2: they have the NFL draft board. They have two boards,
- 18:17Speaker 2: they have an NFL board and the Seahawks board. If
- 18:19Speaker 2: their NFL board, which has been very accurate over John
- 18:22Speaker 2: Schnyder's time one of the great successes of their drafts
- 18:24Speaker 2: and how they've nailed what the league's going to do.
- 18:27Speaker 2: And if they think the league is going to take
- 18:28Speaker 2: their guy a couple picks behind, they'll take it thirty
- 18:31Speaker 2: two and they won't trade back.
- 18:33Speaker 3: Four nine, four to five one. What would you like
- 18:34Speaker 3: the Seahawks to do with their first pick? Who? What position? Why?
- 18:38Speaker 2: Or are you also thinking they're trading back and you're
- 18:41Speaker 2: going to watch the entire draft Thursday night and not
- 18:43Speaker 2: see the Seahawks do a darn thing. How many times
- 18:45Speaker 2: have I gone to rent and done.
- 18:46Speaker 3: That by two men? To count ten to.
- 18:50Speaker 2: Be exact, ten times they've traded their first round pick
- 18:53Speaker 2: and ten times down, I should say, in the first
- 18:56Speaker 2: round coming up, let's talk about the situation. I asked
- 19:01Speaker 2: John Schneider and Mike McDonald yesterday in Renting at the
- 19:05Speaker 2: press conference post Keath Walker, how do you feel about
- 19:08Speaker 2: the running backs? We'll talk about that next on ninety
- 19:10Speaker 2: three point three KGRFM.
- 19:18Speaker 1: Welcome back Greg Bell Show Christopher Kidd for the second day.
- 19:21Speaker 3: Yep, we're full time. We're back like it's twenty twenty
- 19:24Speaker 3: four all over again. Ten to noon.
- 19:26Speaker 2: We'll be on every day for you, including this week
- 19:29Speaker 2: at the NFL Draft. We've got a four nine, four
- 19:30Speaker 2: to five one in to come a Dodge text line.
- 19:32Speaker 2: We've got some people already chiming in with ideas best
- 19:35Speaker 2: running back available. I don't even think Sharvionny is a
- 19:38Speaker 2: starter when healthy, says Marcus our Man, longtime Listeneran Marcus
- 19:42Speaker 2: is the toughest Seahawks fan I've ever heard.
- 19:44Speaker 3: He is tough on these boys, did Marcus? They did
- 19:47Speaker 3: win the Super Bowl? Marcus, I'll tell you, yeah, I
- 19:49Speaker 3: won money on there.
- 19:50Speaker 1: But you know what, I still don't think Zach Charvin
- 19:53Speaker 1: is the Bill cow next.
- 19:55Speaker 3: Remember Zach Scharney might not be in the field until
- 19:57Speaker 3: October at the early I'm guessing I would put money
- 20:00Speaker 3: at October is when he.
- 20:00Speaker 2: Was, Like you said, they can't just roll him out
- 20:02Speaker 2: as soon as he's healthy. They got to ramp him
- 20:05Speaker 2: up twenty one day practice November. No, exactly. Yeah, it
- 20:10Speaker 2: doesn't seem like I'm gonna be a twelve touchdown season from.
- 20:12Speaker 3: Him this year. If he did that, I'd be stunned.
- 20:14Speaker 3: And here's the thing, it's the last year of his contract. Yes,
- 20:17Speaker 3: his rookie Dale love him. They do. I would bet
- 20:20Speaker 3: money they'll bring him back despite that happened.
- 20:23Speaker 2: They be betting money if they get him a new
- 20:25Speaker 2: deal because he's coming off this reconstructive there. Yeah, that
- 20:28Speaker 2: is reconstructive. Knee surgery is no shirt thing. Yeah, that complicated.
- 20:33Speaker 2: I mean they had a plan. It was obviously when
- 20:35Speaker 2: they did a job share with Kenneth Walker during the season. Okay,
- 20:37Speaker 2: let's see if Zach Scharbonay can take over and we'll
- 20:39Speaker 2: let Walker go get his.
- 20:40Speaker 3: Money and we'll just have our guy charbon Ay. They'll
- 20:43Speaker 3: lead back and.
- 20:43Speaker 2: Then bam torn acl against San Francisco in the Division
- 20:46Speaker 2: round of the playoffs.
- 20:47Speaker 3: That changed everything, well, at least.
- 20:49Speaker 2: Changed them until October's November, and now it's not as
- 20:53Speaker 2: sure as slam dunk thing. If they have an air
- 20:54Speaker 2: again we mentioned yesterday there are seven I think it's
- 20:57Speaker 2: seven or eight off the top of my heads running.
- 20:59Speaker 3: Back on the ninety man roster.
- 21:01Speaker 2: I'm talking Jacrti Wright all the way up to Zach Charbonay,
- 21:06Speaker 2: Kenny McIntosh coming off injury, newly signed at Manuel Wilson
- 21:09Speaker 2: from Green Bay, Vellas Jones Chris.
- 21:12Speaker 3: Is doing the fingermat in there for me.
- 21:14Speaker 4: You say cam Akers yet cam Akers, Vellas Jones, yes,
- 21:18Speaker 4: Cartier Wright. Oh, they were just seven yeah, seven running backs.
- 21:22Speaker 4: Not one of them have signed beyond twenty twenty six.
- 21:25Speaker 3: That's the thing.
- 21:27Speaker 1: And the Seahawks, again they every NFL team they don't
- 21:30Speaker 1: draft for this year, they draft for four years. That's
- 21:32Speaker 1: because i'd be draft pick gets four year contracts, and
- 21:36Speaker 1: that's to me, what makes sense that they get a
- 21:37Speaker 1: running back. They don't have anyone signed beyond twenty twenty six.
- 21:42Speaker 2: And the guy you would think they're going to sign,
- 21:43Speaker 2: Zack Sarbona, is coming off in the reconstructed RECONSTRUCTI knee surgery.
- 21:47Speaker 3: That's their issue at running back. So with that as
- 21:49Speaker 3: a preface, I asked.
- 21:51Speaker 2: John Schneider, the general manager, and Mike McDonald if I
- 21:54Speaker 2: remember this is the that's the order. They answered this,
- 21:57Speaker 2: how do you feel about your running back situation?
- 21:59Speaker 3: This is what they said. How do both of you
- 22:00Speaker 3: feel about the running back situation you have right now? Yeah?
- 22:04Speaker 5: I mean, I like, I think you know, signing Wilson
- 22:09Speaker 5: really helps us in this year's draft as well, kind
- 22:11Speaker 5: of give us some freedom. And we've talked about George
- 22:13Speaker 5: Sharp's doing great well.
- 22:15Speaker 6: The guys are back in today, so we have to
- 22:17Speaker 6: see everybody. They're all here on record. I believe in
- 22:19Speaker 6: our guys. And then there's a process too that we're
- 22:22Speaker 6: thankfully we don't have to play for another five or
- 22:23Speaker 6: so months, you know, had a lot of training to do.
- 22:27Speaker 2: Mike McDonald much more revealing in the comment than John
- 22:29Speaker 2: Schneider was. Schnyder went uma, hummona. We got Sharbonay. But
- 22:34Speaker 2: McDonald has been consistent all offseason and say, hey, we
- 22:36Speaker 2: like the guys we got, and that's what a head
- 22:38Speaker 2: coach should do.
- 22:38Speaker 3: Right.
- 22:39Speaker 2: George Hallani impressed them in the NFC Title Game and
- 22:42Speaker 2: in the Super Bowl filling in for Sharbonay.
- 22:45Speaker 3: They brought him back in a restricted free agent contract.
- 22:49Speaker 2: But of course the head coaches k we love our guys.
- 22:51Speaker 2: But to McDonald's credit, he has said multiple times, including
- 22:54Speaker 2: the combine, including the league meetings in Phoenix last month
- 22:57Speaker 2: and just yesterday.
- 22:59Speaker 3: This is still a part.
- 23:00Speaker 2: Oh yeah, respect the process and the next step in
- 23:03Speaker 2: that process is the draft. By the way, the Seahawks
- 23:06Speaker 2: have hosted Najie Harris on a free agent visit.
- 23:08Speaker 3: Remember him, He.
- 23:09Speaker 1: Actually had a really good game and get the Seaoff
- 23:11Speaker 1: who was in twenty twenty three or twenty two.
- 23:13Speaker 2: Yes, he had a lot of good games on a
- 23:15Speaker 2: lot of teams for the Steelers. He ran for a
- 23:16Speaker 2: thousand yard. I know, a thousand yards in the seventeen
- 23:18Speaker 2: game season isn't what it used to be. But he
- 23:21Speaker 2: ran for one thousand yards in each of his first
- 23:22Speaker 2: four seasons for the Steelers. And then the Steelers let
- 23:26Speaker 2: him go, and a lot of people in Pittsburgh, friends
- 23:28Speaker 2: of mine, colleagues of mine, and people where I grew
- 23:29Speaker 2: up are like, why did they do that? Why did
- 23:31Speaker 2: they let him go? Well, it's because the NFL is very,
- 23:34Speaker 2: very very leary of giving big bucks second contracts to
- 23:38Speaker 2: running backs, which is part of the reason Kenneth Walker's
- 23:40Speaker 2: not here. What part of the reason we're talking about
- 23:42Speaker 2: this situation anyway. Naji Harris signed with the Chargers last
- 23:46Speaker 2: year on a one year contract, and what happened. Three
- 23:50Speaker 2: games into his contract with the Chargers he blew out
- 23:53Speaker 2: his achilles done. He's still on that achilles recovery. We
- 23:57Speaker 2: know from experience here in this town with Richard Sherman
- 24:00Speaker 2: and others that that takes a bit, maybe sometimes a
- 24:03Speaker 2: full year. That would put him into September. But Naji
- 24:07Speaker 2: Harris's agent Doug Hendricks, excuse me, not Doug Henderson, It's
- 24:11Speaker 2: Rosenhaus from Miami. If I'm not mistaken, he is shopping
- 24:16Speaker 2: Najie Harris. He's visited the Raiders, He's visited the Seahawks,
- 24:21Speaker 2: and the possibility exists, not now, but in a couple
- 24:25Speaker 2: of months if he's ready in training camp, the Nagie
- 24:28Speaker 2: Harris could be an ad the veteran they already signed
- 24:31Speaker 2: Emmanuel Wilson has been a five hundred yard back, a
- 24:33Speaker 2: part time back with Green Bay. Still in his twenties,
- 24:36Speaker 2: Harris the big question mark is not his ability, but
- 24:38Speaker 2: his ability to come back from the Achilles. That's part
- 24:42Speaker 2: of the process that Mike McDonald's talking about, and so
- 24:45Speaker 2: is this draft.
- 24:46Speaker 3: Let's talk running backs in this draft. Jeremiah Love is
- 24:49Speaker 3: going to be the odds on.
- 24:51Speaker 2: Some people think he's going to go five to the Giants,
- 24:53Speaker 2: if not before John Harbaugh. Of course, Loving to run
- 24:56Speaker 2: the ball to the new coach in New York, Jackson Dart.
- 24:59Speaker 2: They have their quarter. They need a running game to
- 25:02Speaker 2: complement Jackson Dart's passing game and keep him from getting killed.
- 25:06Speaker 2: So a lot of people think that's where Jeremiah Leve
- 25:11Speaker 2: will go first from Notre Dame to five. The second
- 25:14Speaker 2: best back happens to be Most scouts agree. It's been consensus.
- 25:18Speaker 2: The second best back in this draft happens to be
- 25:20Speaker 2: jeremiha Love's Notre Dame teammate, Jenedarian Price. The Seahawks have
- 25:24Speaker 2: been interested in Jenerium Price. He was at the note
- 25:26Speaker 2: they were at Notre Dame's pro day. They talked to
- 25:28Speaker 2: the Notre Dame running backs coach reportedly, and there are
- 25:35Speaker 2: a lot of people out there, Chris National guys, Peter
- 25:38Speaker 2: Schreger that think the Seahawks are going to draft Jeniium
- 25:41Speaker 2: Price at thirty two. I think this running back class
- 25:46Speaker 2: is so weak that Jendarium Price will be available in
- 25:48Speaker 2: the second round if and when the Seahawks trade back anyway,
- 25:51Speaker 2: and they could get him by trading back, say thirty
- 25:54Speaker 2: four with Arizona, thirty nine with Cleveland or wherever, and
- 25:57Speaker 2: could still get Jenerium Price. In fact, I think they
- 26:00Speaker 2: could get Jenarian Price at sixty four at the bottom
- 26:03Speaker 2: of the second round with the original pick they already
- 26:05Speaker 2: have in that round. That's how the league views running
- 26:08Speaker 2: backs right now, and this draft in particular is seen
- 26:11Speaker 2: as weak in running maybe the weakest position, and there
- 26:14Speaker 2: is a cliff most scouts that think between the second
- 26:17Speaker 2: running back, Jenarian Price, and the third running back, which
- 26:21Speaker 2: most people have is Mike Washington Junior from Arkansas. He
- 26:25Speaker 2: moved up from a middle round prospect to potentially a
- 26:27Speaker 2: second round pick because he ran a four forty yard
- 26:31Speaker 2: dash at the combine, weighing two hundred and twenty three pounds,
- 26:34Speaker 2: the fastest forty yard dash by a running back weighing
- 26:37Speaker 2: two twenty Mike Washington has visited with the Seahawks. A
- 26:41Speaker 2: couple people have confirmed that on a pre Draft thirty visit,
- 26:46Speaker 2: so they are looking at running back. There are a
- 26:48Speaker 2: couple others they've looked at as well, we talked about
- 26:51Speaker 2: them yesterday, but they are looking at running back. Of
- 26:55Speaker 2: only four picks in this draft, fewest in the league.
- 26:57Speaker 2: So I have him actually taking Mike in my Mark
- 27:00Speaker 2: Draft Atthewstribune dot Com. I have him taken Mike Washington
- 27:03Speaker 2: Junior from Arkansas in the fourth round because that's how
- 27:07Speaker 2: I see that they think that the league thinks about
- 27:09Speaker 2: running backs, and as I mentioned, there's a perceived Cliff
- 27:12Speaker 2: from the top two down to Mike Washington and the
- 27:15Speaker 2: others at three at the running back position. Well, see
- 27:19Speaker 2: I have him actually taking a nose tackle with their
- 27:22Speaker 2: third pick.
- 27:23Speaker 3: I ain't mad at it. I think for.
- 27:26Speaker 1: I look at Mike McDonald as someone that you can
- 27:30Speaker 1: just trust in and everything. And while Johnson it might
- 27:32Speaker 1: have been uncomfortable or not knew the answer, my McDonald
- 27:35Speaker 1: was like, look, we got our guys. They're gonna show up,
- 27:37Speaker 1: do their job, and we're gonna have somebody potentially in
- 27:39Speaker 1: the draft.
- 27:40Speaker 3: I like where we're at right now.
- 27:41Speaker 1: And thankfully, as he says, we don't play for another
- 27:44Speaker 1: five months. Yes, So with all that being said, we
- 27:48Speaker 1: have time. Let's not panic right now. And John's kind
- 27:51Speaker 1: of like, well, is that the right thing to say?
- 27:53Speaker 1: It's like, yeah, it is. You have time. You have
- 27:54Speaker 1: the draft. You see who comes in. Maybe someone pops
- 27:57Speaker 1: off the grid. I don't know who it could be
- 27:59Speaker 1: in those seven running but chances are someone's gonna be
- 28:03Speaker 1: the number one guy, or maybe in the draft you
- 28:05Speaker 1: are able to find someone. Now.
- 28:06Speaker 3: I know kennth Walker was found in the second round.
- 28:08Speaker 1: He wasn't a fourth round pick or anything, but there
- 28:11Speaker 1: might be something to that, So we should just feel
- 28:14Speaker 1: a little patient see what happens next week with the draft.
- 28:17Speaker 1: Maybe there's a free agent that they get, they had
- 28:20Speaker 1: their eyesights their eyesights.
- 28:21Speaker 3: On and they go out and get them. Maybe it's
- 28:23Speaker 3: Nagi Heirs.
- 28:23Speaker 1: I'm not sure, but I want to give the benefit
- 28:26Speaker 1: of the doubts to my McDonald, who is someone that
- 28:29Speaker 1: believes in all those guys and regardless of what fans
- 28:32Speaker 1: or other teams think, whoever he has starting, that's gonna
- 28:36Speaker 1: be the decision. And it works out right from the
- 28:39Speaker 1: offensive line they nailed that won a Super Bowl off
- 28:41Speaker 1: of it. So there is definitely a perception where, yeah,
- 28:45Speaker 1: I don't know about this. You know, not bringing back
- 28:47Speaker 1: K nine, he's a little too expensive, but are you
- 28:49Speaker 1: really gonna trust him? Kenny McIntosh coming off in acl
- 28:52Speaker 1: having Zach Charbonney in like November at his probably best
- 28:56Speaker 1: since last season, that's a little bit of a gamble.
- 28:58Speaker 1: But we'll have to wait and see how things progress,
- 29:00Speaker 1: because for all we know, Zach Scharbonneau could be ready
- 29:03Speaker 1: week one. We don't know, but all signs indicate for
- 29:06Speaker 1: me that I think he won't be available till probably
- 29:09Speaker 1: October and you just bring him slowly up to speed
- 29:12Speaker 1: as the season progresses, and you're hopefully you're in a
- 29:14Speaker 1: situation where you've only lost maybe one or two games.
- 29:17Speaker 1: So it's not like we need Zach Sharburne. It's like
- 29:20Speaker 1: we can put you in and when we want to
- 29:21Speaker 1: per se.
- 29:22Speaker 2: Let's face it, for those of you who might be
- 29:25Speaker 2: chicken littling about this running back situation, this.
- 29:28Speaker 3: Team just won the Super Bowl.
- 29:31Speaker 2: They're not bereft, they're not adrift in some abyss and
- 29:35Speaker 2: headed off to the four and thirteen season. They just
- 29:38Speaker 2: won the super Bowl two months ago, and they let right,
- 29:41Speaker 2: They let an expensive piece go because they didn't have
- 29:43Speaker 2: it budgeted for because they'd rather spend on Jackson Smith
- 29:46Speaker 2: and Jigba and Devin Witherspoon. And we just mean's about
- 29:49Speaker 2: to get his we're gonna talk about him a little
- 29:51Speaker 2: bit about what he impressed Mike Donald yesterday about. But
- 29:57Speaker 2: first of all, they're not starting from ground zero, and secondly,
- 30:01Speaker 2: maybe the guys in charge know what the hell they're doing.
- 30:03Speaker 3: They just won the super Bowl. So yesterday I think
- 30:06Speaker 3: it was the two.
- 30:07Speaker 2: Five to three on the text line that's coming to dodge.
- 30:08Speaker 2: Text line four nine four to five. One asked about.
- 30:11Speaker 3: How about Jaccartia Wright. He was a rookie, undrafted rookie
- 30:14Speaker 3: running back last year who impressed in training camp, then
- 30:17Speaker 3: had injury issues kind of disappeared and everyone forgot about him.
- 30:20Speaker 3: So I said, how's Jacardia Wright.
- 30:22Speaker 2: Fit into this? And Mike McDonald said, he's a second
- 30:25Speaker 2: year guy. Quote, he's a second year guy. But to me,
- 30:28Speaker 2: what a great opportunity he has. The great part of
- 30:31Speaker 2: our team right now is you can go position by position,
- 30:33Speaker 2: you can rattle off the great competitions that we've got
- 30:35Speaker 2: going to really throughout the team. Excuse me, great competitions
- 30:40Speaker 2: that we're going to have really throughout the process. It's
- 30:43Speaker 2: not always the case. So that speaks to like, really
- 30:46Speaker 2: the depth of our team right now, which is really exciting.
- 30:48Speaker 2: Jacartia is right there, and McDonald's point is everyone's right there.
- 30:54Speaker 2: There is no clear one, especially with sharpon a injured
- 30:57Speaker 2: that Jaccardia Wright who is on it been that the
- 31:00Speaker 2: team less than fewer than twelve months can.
- 31:03Speaker 3: Be right there.
- 31:04Speaker 2: It's open season, open competition. Here we go, and we
- 31:07Speaker 2: know this in Seattle especially, we know hell, you could
- 31:12Speaker 2: go through twelve fourteen sixteen running backs in a season.
- 31:15Speaker 2: The Seahawks had eighteen guys carry the ball the year
- 31:18Speaker 2: that Marshaun Lynch came back on Christmas, even unretired. This
- 31:22Speaker 2: is the Bears mentioning again, this is the most treated
- 31:26Speaker 2: position in the sport, with the shortest career shelf life,
- 31:29Speaker 2: with the most major injuries. Running Back car crashes on
- 31:33Speaker 2: every snap, pass protection, getting smashed by linebackers blitzing into you,
- 31:38Speaker 2: blindside hits. Running Backs get hurt. It's why you don't
- 31:43Speaker 2: invest in the league has decided not to pay big bests.
- 31:46Speaker 2: We talked about the Todd Gurley syndrome and the league
- 31:49Speaker 2: just shining away from big dollar contracts by and large,
- 31:51Speaker 2: Tae Kwon Barkley being an outlier, but the Seahawks would
- 31:56Speaker 2: rather draft running backs, use them for their four year
- 32:00Speaker 2: rookie contract, let them go, and then start again by
- 32:02Speaker 2: drafting another running back. They did it with Chris Carson.
- 32:06Speaker 2: They did it with undrafted Thomas Rawls. They did it
- 32:09Speaker 2: with Zach Scharbonay, they did it with Kenneth Walker. I
- 32:13Speaker 2: think they're gonna do it again Thursday, Friday, Saturday. Don't
- 32:15Speaker 2: think they're gonna do Thursday, because I think they're trading
- 32:17Speaker 2: back and that's the only thing they'll do on Thursday.
- 32:19Speaker 2: I don't think they're gonna do it on Friday. In
- 32:20Speaker 2: rounds two and three, Rounds four, five, six, and seven
- 32:24Speaker 2: are on Saturday. They begin at eight am and they
- 32:26Speaker 2: run until it seems like nighttime. The Seahawks right now
- 32:29Speaker 2: have just one pick over that whole entire Saturday, that's
- 32:32Speaker 2: in round sixth in a trade from Cleveland last summer
- 32:35Speaker 2: for Nick Harris the Center, and that's it. As we
- 32:38Speaker 2: mentioned yesterday, there's no way, no way in the name
- 32:42Speaker 2: of Ron Wolf that John Schneider is gonna sit around
- 32:44Speaker 2: and just do one pick over four rounds on Saturday,
- 32:48Speaker 2: which is why I think he's trading back at thirty
- 32:49Speaker 2: nine to get a fourth round pick from Cleveland. And
- 32:51Speaker 2: they'll have a pick soon after eight am on Saturday.
- 32:55Speaker 3: Four nine, four to five one.
- 32:56Speaker 2: And to Como Dodge text line, you're a chance to
- 32:58Speaker 2: talk about what you want from the sea, trade or
- 33:01Speaker 2: don't trade. You want to keep them at thirty two
- 33:03Speaker 2: and if so, who do you want him to pick?
- 33:04Speaker 2: We'll ead back your text at eleven thirty up next
- 33:08Speaker 2: Mike Rabel spoke today publicly in New England to media
- 33:12Speaker 2: about his imbriglio he's had for the last couple of weeks.
- 33:15Speaker 2: You'll hear from Mike Vrabel next and we'll talk about
- 33:18Speaker 2: why Mike McDonald was blown away yesterday on the first
- 33:20Speaker 2: day of Seahawks offseason training. That's all coming up on
- 33:24Speaker 2: ninety three point three KJRFM.
- 33:34Speaker 3: Welcome at Greg Bell's showing Christopher Kidd rolling on second day.
- 33:37Speaker 2: If you haven't heard, yep, the Supermanent deal tend to noon.
- 33:39Speaker 2: Greg Bell Christopher Kidd are back like it's twenty twenty four,
- 33:42Speaker 2: Like we never laughed. Mike Rabel spoke in New England
- 33:46Speaker 2: today for the first time publicly since his pictures surfaced
- 33:49Speaker 2: in the New York Daily.
- 33:50Speaker 3: News New York Post.
- 33:51Speaker 2: I think it was with Diana Rossini of the Athletic
- 33:54Speaker 2: This is what he had to say to Boston area media.
- 33:57Speaker 7: You know, I've had some difficult conversations with people that
- 33:59Speaker 7: I caret with my family, the organization, the coaches, the players,
- 34:04Speaker 7: those who been positive and productive, and we believe in
- 34:07Speaker 7: order to be successful on and off the field, you
- 34:09Speaker 7: have to.
- 34:10Speaker 3: Make good decisions. That includes me. That starts with me.
- 34:13Speaker 7: We never want our actions to negatively infect affect the team.
- 34:17Speaker 3: We never want to be the cause of a distraction.
- 34:20Speaker 7: Those are comments and questions that I've answered for the
- 34:22Speaker 7: team and with the team. We'll keep those private and
- 34:25Speaker 7: to ourselves. I care deeply about this football team, and
- 34:28Speaker 7: I'm excited to coach them. I also know that I'm
- 34:31Speaker 7: going to attack each day with humility and focus.
- 34:36Speaker 2: That's Mike Raybral, coach of the Patriots who just played
- 34:38Speaker 2: the Seahawks in Super Bowl sixty. Sounds like he has
- 34:41Speaker 2: the backing of Robert Kraft to report. We try to
- 34:44Speaker 2: get the story squashed before the photos and the story surfaced.
- 34:49Speaker 2: So that's Mike Rabel's first comments publicly since all that
- 34:52Speaker 2: broke down back in Seattle. Thank goodness, we have none
- 34:56Speaker 2: of that going on. We have Mike McDonald being the
- 34:58Speaker 2: defending Super Bowl champion coach and yesterday he welcomed back
- 35:01Speaker 2: what he thought were all his younger players for the
- 35:04Speaker 2: start of the first phase of off season training. The
- 35:07Speaker 2: NFL breaks their off season training into three phases one, two,
- 35:11Speaker 2: and three. One is basically weight training, weight room, some
- 35:15Speaker 2: on field stuff which is basically callaistenics, and just getting
- 35:18Speaker 2: on the field because the Seahawks won the Super Bowl
- 35:20Speaker 2: and partied hard into the end of February from winning it.
- 35:23Speaker 2: McDonald told his veterans starters at blow off the first
- 35:27Speaker 2: phase of OTAs or excuse me, of the off season program,
- 35:30Speaker 2: the weight training and coming to the don't even worry
- 35:33Speaker 2: about it. We'll do zoom calls for meetings if we
- 35:35Speaker 2: need you, but don't show up, It's cool. We'll work
- 35:38Speaker 2: on the younger guys. Yesterday was day one of that.
- 35:41Speaker 2: It's a two week period. Yet Mike McDonald said he
- 35:45Speaker 2: was blown away by what happened yesterday.
- 35:47Speaker 3: Mike, we mentioned off season.
- 35:49Speaker 6: There guys be back in the building starting the off
- 35:51Speaker 6: season program today.
- 35:52Speaker 3: How is it kind of getting that process rolling again already. Yeah,
- 35:55Speaker 3: that's great.
- 35:55Speaker 6: Today's day one for us in phase one, and you know,
- 35:59Speaker 6: we tiered our our off season program from having like
- 36:03Speaker 6: a later finish this season. But I was just like,
- 36:05Speaker 6: I was blown away by the guys, some of the
- 36:07Speaker 6: guys that showed up today and that you know, we
- 36:09Speaker 6: weren't asking to be here, you know at this point
- 36:10Speaker 6: in time, and just the energy is really great. You know,
- 36:13Speaker 6: there's still a great like sense of urgency and spirit
- 36:15Speaker 6: to the guys, which which is exciting, but it's mostly
- 36:18Speaker 6: just strength conditioning at this point and some individual meetings.
- 36:21Speaker 6: But this is one of the best times of year
- 36:23Speaker 6: to see the guys again. After the break, I almost
- 36:27Speaker 6: say surprise. You said, hey, look, if you if you
- 36:29Speaker 6: finished playing the whole season phase one, we'd love for
- 36:33Speaker 6: you to be here, obviously, but to get more time
- 36:35Speaker 6: out of the building so you can come back as
- 36:37Speaker 6: fresh as possible.
- 36:39Speaker 3: So guys like spoon Jay reeb here wanted to be around.
- 36:41Speaker 6: The guys again, you know so I thought that was
- 36:43Speaker 6: really cool, Derek Hall.
- 36:46Speaker 2: And that is what Mike McDonald believes is the key
- 36:49Speaker 2: to winning a Super Bowl. When you talked to McDonald
- 36:51Speaker 2: and you talked to everyone in the locker room last year,
- 36:54Speaker 2: Yeah they had the talent, Yeah they had the tone
- 36:55Speaker 2: of one defense. Yeah they had a quarterback who excelled
- 36:59Speaker 2: in the clutch. Yeah they had running back Kenneth Walker
- 37:01Speaker 2: who went off in the playoffs. But they all tell
- 37:04Speaker 2: you that their culture and their togetherness is what got
- 37:09Speaker 2: them to win the Super Bowl. In fact, players in
- 37:12Speaker 2: the Super Bowl locker room after game, smoking cigars. Karen
- 37:14Speaker 2: Patron were talking about how sad they were that they
- 37:17Speaker 2: weren't coming back to work to be with their guys
- 37:19Speaker 2: again the next few days.
- 37:20Speaker 3: That's how much they love.
- 37:21Speaker 2: And they've been with each other since April, and this
- 37:25Speaker 2: was February in the Super Bowl. I'd never heard that
- 37:27Speaker 2: before in my career. That is duplicating itself right now
- 37:31Speaker 2: in retin This Week by Devin Witherspoon Jared Reed thirty
- 37:34Speaker 2: three going on to thirty four years.
- 37:36Speaker 3: Old in his NFL's eleventh season. Those guys are there.
- 37:41Speaker 2: That's huge, and that to me is to McDonald is
- 37:45Speaker 2: more important than anything else going on in Seattle for
- 37:48Speaker 2: the next couple of weeks four nine, four y five
- 37:50Speaker 2: one to com a Dodge text line. We'll read back
- 37:53Speaker 2: your text at eleven thirty. Up next, Mike Beton Pucks.
- 37:56Speaker 2: We'll talk a little bit Stanley Cuplass, but more we'll
- 37:58Speaker 2: talk about where the crack can go from here out
- 38:00Speaker 2: of the playoffs for the fourth time in five years.
- 38:02Speaker 2: Our man, the Captain, Mike Bennon is up next on
- 38:04Speaker 2: ninety three point three kJ RFM.
