- 0:28Good morning from the chicken coop so I want to talk to you
- 0:31about change boy. What a big subject, right?
- 0:34Because it compasses so many different parts of our Lives.
- 0:38Personal professional big little small wide.
- 0:41It doesn't matter what it is. It all encompasses, this massive
- 0:45subject of change in our life and as a human beings we just do
- 0:50not typically like change. We will resist it resistant
- 0:53resistant because it takes us out of our certainty puts us in
- 0:58a different state of mind. It it It makes us feel like I'm
- 1:03easy and we don't like that, you know, our nature is to look for
- 1:08the certainty and safety. It's just how human beings are
- 1:11wired, and we're never going to get around that.
- 1:14But our nature is also to look at what's going on in our world
- 1:20around us and we are surrounded by change all the time.
- 1:22I mean mother nature is one of the best ones that is constantly
- 1:26doing that to us. I mean, every single day, the
- 1:29light wherever you live every single The headlight is
- 1:31Shifting. And it's your days are getting a
- 1:33little longer, a little shorter, whatever it might be, there's
- 1:36always tweaks. There's always things happening
- 1:39in every blade of grass. Every little tiny thing.
- 1:42Nature is telling us change is inevitable.
- 1:45It's going to happen, but our pain isn't necessarily because
- 1:49of the change. Our pain is because of the
- 1:51resistance to the change. That's around us because we
- 1:54don't like it and we want things to say exactly the same, you
- 1:57know, there was an episode of Sesame Street years ago where
- 2:00Elmo want. Christmas every day and I always
- 2:02laugh at that one, my daughter wanted to watch it over and over
- 2:05and over again. And you know, after a while
- 2:08Elmo, got sick of Christmas because it was every day and he
- 2:13had to realize that, you know, in order for things to be great,
- 2:17they have to shift, they have to move on.
- 2:20You can't have the same things all the time, everything is
- 2:23always about growing and expanding, and shifting, and
- 2:27changing. And we have to recognize Nice in
- 2:31ourselves, that the resistance, we put up the resistance, in our
- 2:35perspective, the resistance, in our desire for things to shift
- 2:39and change around us causes all of our pain, not the actual acts
- 2:43of things. Sure there are, it's inevitable,
- 2:45that there will be things that happen that cause us pain.
- 2:48We will lose things in our lives.
- 2:51People we love animals, we love. We will lose jobs that we love,
- 2:54we will lose situations. And if we are Pletely, and
- 3:01totally honest, we will recognize that a huge tremendous
- 3:05chunk of that is that, that feeling and emotion that we have
- 3:09happening is because of our resistance to it.
- 3:13So our resistance to the change that is and because we feel so
- 3:20overwhelmed with it and I'm sorry for the dogs barking in
- 3:24the background. Can you hear all that?
- 3:26That's my neighbor's dogs. And, you know, we're just going
- 3:29to roll with it because This is important and it's a change in
- 3:32what we're doing, right? And I'm not going to resist the
- 3:34change, as it's happening. I'm just going to go and we're
- 3:36going to roll with it and see how it goes.
- 3:39So I'm looking. There it goes already away.
- 3:41So I think the most important aspect of what I want.
- 3:45You guys to hear me say today is look at whatever is going on in
- 3:50your life. That is causing pain and
- 3:51suffering and ask yourself how can I change my perspective so
- 3:57that I can move myself out of pain and Offering, because pain
- 4:03and suffering is inevitable, but it's not something that you need
- 4:07to stay in. You can move through it.
- 4:10I promise you, I know that because I've done it so many
- 4:13times in my own personal life, with losses of many things.
- 4:17And it is not something that you have to stay in but it does
- 4:22require an acute level of awareness about where your pain
- 4:26and suffering is coming from and it requires you to be
- 4:30Cognitively aware that you can no longer resist.
- 4:33What is being put in front of you, if you keep resisting the
- 4:37loss. If you keep resisting to address
- 4:40it, if you keep resisting to move through it, you will stay
- 4:44in pain and it will move you eventually one way or another,
- 4:47so you might as well say just like Elmo.
- 4:51Did you know what? I got to?
- 4:52I got to just move on. I can't keep waiting for
- 4:54Christmas every day because goodness knows this isn't feel
- 4:58good. It's like it's not every time it
- 5:00Zap. I'm it's not the same, it
- 5:02doesn't feel good. And I think that When you're,
- 5:07when you're doing this exercise, when you're really coming to
- 5:10terms with the fact that you're looking at yourself and you're
- 5:13saying, I am stuck in a place of resisting, the change that has
- 5:17been presented to me. You have to stop and pause and
- 5:21ask yourself who do I need to be now, you can't just go to it
- 5:27with the person that you've always been.
- 5:29You have to stop and ask yourself who do I need to be now
- 5:33to move through this. Where do I need to shift myself?
- 5:37Where do I need to move my emotions to?
- 5:41Where do I need to move my perspectives to?
- 5:44Because if you can do that, I promise you.
- 5:47That's when the great things start to happen, when you can
- 5:49shift it and you can start to look at, okay?
- 5:52What are the gifts in this? You know?
- 5:54When I lost my dad, I didn't think there was anything great
- 5:58about this at all. I never thought there was one
- 6:00great thing about it. I couldn't figure it out.
- 6:02He was my best friend. He was every meant, everything
- 6:05in World's me and there was still to this day.
- 6:08There was never, I can't I can't put my finger on certain aspects
- 6:13of losing him, but I will say this, when I stopped resisting
- 6:17that he was gone, when I started to realize that I had to do
- 6:21things on my own while I still felt like he was with me and I
- 6:26can talk to him and I have faith that I have connection with him.
- 6:29Still I had to come to terms with the fact that I had to make
- 6:34decisions. Ian's and I had to move in a
- 6:36certain direction when I started doing that my life changed and I
- 6:41know if he had still been here, some of the decisions that I
- 6:46made for myself, that put me right here in this spot, doing
- 6:50this for you, I wouldn't have made and I certainly wouldn't be
- 6:55living where I am. I certainly wouldn't be in the
- 6:57state that I am. I certainly wouldn't be doing
- 7:02the things that I was doing. I would have taken a Different
- 7:05path because I was on a completely different path and
- 7:08once he passed then I shifted. So I can sit back and you know,
- 7:14I can still feel the pain of the loss but I don't have to have
- 7:20the same interpretation of it. So maybe all of this stuff
- 7:24that's out there. Whatever is going on in your
- 7:26life, whatever change is happening that you have to come
- 7:30to terms with and move through and realize the resistance is
- 7:33not necessarily. Lee helping you with this point,
- 7:37I'll tell you to just stop and pause and say, who do I need to
- 7:40be now moving forward. And what do I want to believe
- 7:43about this happening? So that I can move forward and
- 7:47just asking yourself some really better questions will help you.
- 7:51So I hope that this is helpful for you today.
- 7:54I hope that you understand a little bit more about change and
- 7:59resistance to change and I will see you guys tomorrow.
- 8:04Have a blessed day. Bye.
