- 0:08SPEAKER_01: you're behind, you blew it, you'll never catch up, you're not good enough.
- 0:14SPEAKER_01: Well, Zig Ziglar had a name for that.
- 0:16SPEAKER_01: He called it stinking thinking.
- 0:19SPEAKER_01: And if you've been in the marketplace long enough,
- 0:21SPEAKER_01: you've probably had a few rounds with it yourself.
- 0:25SPEAKER_01: But what if we flipped the script?
- 0:27SPEAKER_01: What if we started each day with righteous thinking?
- 0:31SPEAKER_01: Our time today is Proverbs 2, 6 through 8, because it's the second day
- 0:40of the month.
- 0:45SPEAKER_01: Welcome to Marketplace Proverbs and Coffee with Ernie,
- 0:49SPEAKER_01: where a proverb a day keeps stinking thinking away.
- 0:53SPEAKER_01: I'm Ernie Lansford,
- 0:54SPEAKER_01: and my desire is to help you connect biblical wisdom

- 1:06SPEAKER_01: So, grab your cup of coffee, tea, latte, soda, water,
- 1:10SPEAKER_01: whatever it is you like to enjoy while listening,
- 1:13SPEAKER_01: or if you're driving,
- 1:15SPEAKER_01: keep both hands on the wheel and your eyes on the road, but your ears on the audio.
- 1:20SPEAKER_01: And let's get started.
- 1:22SPEAKER_01: Today we're opening from Marketplace Proverbs,
- 1:25SPEAKER_01: Volume 3, with a powerful anchor, Proverbs 2, 6-8, from the Message Translation.
- 1:35SPEAKER_01: God gives out wisdom free, is plain spoken in knowledge and understanding.
- 1:42SPEAKER_01: He's a rich mind of common sense for those who live well,
- 1:47SPEAKER_01: a personal bodyguard to the candid and sincere.
- 1:51SPEAKER_01: He keeps his eye on all who live honestly and pays special attention
- 1:56SPEAKER_01: to his loyally committed ones.
- 2:00SPEAKER_01: Now, that's not corporate language.
- 2:02SPEAKER_01: That's kingdom language.
- 2:04SPEAKER_01: And back in the 80s,
- 2:06SPEAKER_01: I had the privilege of meeting and working for a short time with Zig Ziglar.
- 2:12SPEAKER_01: And Zig was a bold Christian voice in the business world.
- 2:17SPEAKER_01: Zig did not water things down.
- 2:20SPEAKER_01: He talked about Jesus while talking about sales.
- 2:23SPEAKER_01: And I'll never forget one of his signature phrases.
- 2:28SPEAKER_01: You need a checkup from the neck up.
- 2:31SPEAKER_01: That line stuck with me because it's true.
- 2:35SPEAKER_01: Our mindset will shape our outcome.

- 2:44SPEAKER_01: They fog up our clarity.

- 3:53SPEAKER_01: It's leading with humility.
- 3:55SPEAKER_01: It's prioritizing significance.
- 3:59SPEAKER_01: Adding significance to others over personal success.
- 4:04SPEAKER_01: No, the simple definition of righteousness is simply behavior and thought patterns
- 4:11SPEAKER_01: that please God.
- 4:13SPEAKER_01: That's just it.
- 4:13SPEAKER_01: There's no theology behind that, no deep religion.
- 4:17SPEAKER_01: It's just a simple known fact.
- 4:20SPEAKER_01: Our righteous thinking leads to righteous behavior, righteous living.
- 4:28SPEAKER_01: Today's customer success code, values without virtue are barren.
