- 0:41Speaker 2: Mosch, what's going on, brother Mike?
- 0:43Speaker 3: What's going on? My friend? How are you?
- 0:45Speaker 2: Everything's good.
- 0:46Speaker 1: We got the official dates for Eagles training camp.
- 0:50Speaker 2: Are you ready to go back to work?
- 0:52Speaker 1: July the twenty eighth, the Eagles will be back on
- 0:56Speaker 1: the field. So we got a little over a month
- 0:57Speaker 1: to hang out and have some fun.
- 1:00Speaker 3: Yeah, we do. I will be ready when it's time.
- 1:02Speaker 4: Although as I check here real quickly, yeah, I'm actually
- 1:07Speaker 4: not going to be in the area for that specific day.
- 1:12Speaker 3: So I'm going to be Uh, I'm turning fifty this summer, Mike.
- 1:15Speaker 4: My mother was kind enough to throw me a little party,
- 1:17Speaker 4: so I'll be hanging out with her.
- 1:18Speaker 2: Yeah, I'll be right behind you, man.
- 1:20Speaker 1: I'll be fifty in January, so not this calendar year,
- 1:23Speaker 1: but the next calendar year. So I'll be chasing you
- 1:26Speaker 1: along there.
- 1:27Speaker 2: But the Eagles.
- 1:27Speaker 3: Yeah, I'll let you know what it's like by January.
- 1:32Speaker 2: The Eagles back to work.
- 1:33Speaker 1: July twenty eighth is when the Eagles will report, and
- 1:36Speaker 1: then obviously you know, we'll have plenty to report on.
- 1:40Speaker 1: We do have some mailbag questions for our summer Eagles
- 1:42Speaker 1: mailbag for Football at four. There are some stuff I
- 1:45Speaker 1: do want to get into.
- 1:46Speaker 2: Uh.
- 1:46Speaker 1: There was a I don't know, a report or somebody
- 1:51Speaker 1: suggesting that the Eagles could be in on Max Crosby.
- 1:55Speaker 1: Is that something that you think is a.
- 1:59Speaker 2: A name that makes sense? Vents?
- 2:00Speaker 1: You know, the reporter from Sports Illustrated said the Eagles
- 2:03Speaker 1: and the Niners. Nuclear was the name he used in
- 2:08Speaker 1: on Crosby. H Does that make sense to you at all?
- 2:13Speaker 3: Well, nuclear is a very strong term. I mean, what
- 2:16Speaker 3: does that even mean.
- 2:17Speaker 4: I mean if if I if I were to use
- 2:19Speaker 4: the word nuclear and say the Eagles are nuclear after
- 2:22Speaker 4: a player, I would expect that deal to be done
- 2:25Speaker 4: by the end of the day. That's me personally. I'm
- 2:27Speaker 4: not trying to criticize. I don't even know that. I
- 2:29Speaker 4: think the Hondo was that the themes the person who reported,
- 2:33Speaker 4: you know, I'm just saying, like, I'm careful with my
- 2:35Speaker 4: phrasing on terms like nuclear.
- 2:39Speaker 3: Obviously, the Eagles are always interested.
- 2:40Speaker 4: They were interested in Max Crosby before the Ravens h
- 2:44Speaker 4: tried to trade for him. From what I understand just
- 2:47Speaker 4: talking to some people who are close to the organ
- 2:50Speaker 4: in the NFL or understand the Raiders organization, it's more
- 2:54Speaker 4: likely that Crosby will be with the Raiders this year,
- 2:57Speaker 4: and if they do move off of him, it will
- 3:00Speaker 4: wind up being because of a trade that netted them
- 3:04Speaker 4: something similar to what they were gonna get from the Ravens,
- 3:07Speaker 4: which is two first round picks. So right, that was
- 3:10Speaker 4: what the deal was, two first round picks that the
- 3:11Speaker 4: Ravens were willing to offer.
- 3:12Speaker 1: It twenty twenty seven first round pick in twenty twenty
- 3:16Speaker 1: six in the draft that just passed and then one
- 3:19Speaker 1: for next year's draft, which obviously that was it was
- 3:22Speaker 1: two first round picks for Max Crosby.
- 3:25Speaker 4: Right, So would the Eagles be willing to offer a
- 3:29Speaker 4: twenty twenty seven twenty twenty seven first round pick?
- 3:32Speaker 1: Do you think though after after they ausation would have
- 3:36Speaker 1: to be the same.
- 3:38Speaker 4: Well, what I'm telling you is, from what I understand,
- 3:41Speaker 4: that's what the Raiders are looking for, so.
- 3:44Speaker 3: It doesn't have to be.
- 3:45Speaker 4: I don't know, it depends on how motivated the Raiders
- 3:47Speaker 4: really are to move him, but I mean it sure
- 3:50Speaker 4: sounds from what I gather that they're okay with keeping him.
- 3:53Speaker 4: They've they signed a truckload of free agents, they have
- 3:56Speaker 4: a new regime. Nothing says that, you know, with the
- 3:59Speaker 4: Chiefs trying to see where they're at.
- 4:01Speaker 3: They're in a little bit of transition.
- 4:03Speaker 4: With Mahomes coming back from his ACL You know, the
- 4:05Speaker 4: Broncos are still very good.
- 4:06Speaker 3: The Chargers are trying to get over the hump.
- 4:08Speaker 4: But you know, you see, when you have a new regime,
- 4:11Speaker 4: you can be within a year or two pretty good.
- 4:13Speaker 3: And you know, I'm sure they have a lot of
- 4:14Speaker 3: faith in.
- 4:15Speaker 4: Their new coach, who is just the offensive cordator of
- 4:17Speaker 4: the Seahawks who helped them win that championship in one year.
- 4:20Speaker 4: So my point is, from what I understand, that the
- 4:24Speaker 4: Raiders have not backed down from that kind of an offer.
- 4:26Speaker 4: And so now, if you're the Eagles, are you going
- 4:28Speaker 4: to give them next year's first round pick? And then
- 4:31Speaker 4: you know you got two in twenty twenty eight because
- 4:33Speaker 4: you made a trade with the Patriots. But Mike, we
- 4:36Speaker 4: spent an awful lot of time talking about all the
- 4:39Speaker 4: players the Eagles are gonna have to extend or let
- 4:42Speaker 4: walk over the next year or two. If I'm the Eagles,
- 4:47Speaker 4: I'm trying to keep as many of those high top
- 4:49Speaker 4: one hundred picks as possible because I'm gonna have to
- 4:51Speaker 4: do a lot of retooling in case I lose a
- 4:53Speaker 4: lot of these guys.
- 4:54Speaker 3: So I don't know how realistic it is.
- 4:56Speaker 1: Yeah, so let me throw it to you this way.
- 4:58Speaker 1: And it goes to a mailbag question we got here.
- 5:00Speaker 1: This one's from Marcus and Cherry Hill and he says, hey,
- 5:03Speaker 1: jeff and Mike, with the news that the Titans locked
- 5:05Speaker 1: up Jeffrey Simmons three years, one hundred and five million,
- 5:08Speaker 1: one hundred million in guarantees.
- 5:10Speaker 2: How much.
- 5:11Speaker 1: Does this push the Eagles to try to get something
- 5:14Speaker 1: done with Jalen Carter and lock him up to a
- 5:17Speaker 1: long term deal? This this question is a good one
- 5:21Speaker 1: from Marcus. It also breaks off a lot of other questions.
- 5:26Speaker 1: Do the Eagles want to pay him what Jay, what
- 5:29Speaker 1: Jeffrey Simmons got? Are they looking at that? Why didn't
- 5:32Speaker 1: we set the market or we wanted the market set?
- 5:35Speaker 1: Would they trade Jalen Carter because they don't want to
- 5:37Speaker 1: pay him what Jeffrey Simmons got paid? So instead of
- 5:40Speaker 1: a pick, maybe you put Carter in a deal like that.
- 5:43Speaker 1: There's a lot there, good question, Marcus.
- 5:45Speaker 4: Sure, of course, Good job, Marcus, there's obviously. So it
- 5:48Speaker 4: does open up the door for a lot of different opportunities.
- 5:51Speaker 4: The one thing that, like I think sometimes fans, not
- 5:54Speaker 4: just Eagles fans, every fan does is like see something
- 5:56Speaker 4: like that and think, oh my God, Like, now my
- 6:00Speaker 4: player or the player I root for the team I
- 6:02Speaker 4: roofer has to pay even more, like X amount of
- 6:05Speaker 4: dollars more. I mean, Jeffrey Simmons has been the best
- 6:08Speaker 4: defensive tackle in football for a couple of years now,
- 6:10Speaker 4: and he's better than Jalen Carter.
- 6:12Speaker 3: Now, maybe maybe.
- 6:13Speaker 4: Jalen Carter has more upside, maybe he will be a
- 6:16Speaker 4: better player. But if you're if someone's gonna like get
- 6:19Speaker 4: mad at me for saying that Jeffrey Simmons is a
- 6:21Speaker 4: better the player or has proven more than Jalen Carter
- 6:25Speaker 4: in this league, then I think that they're nuts.
- 6:27Speaker 3: To be honest with you.
- 6:28Speaker 4: I mean, Jaalen Carter was awesome as a rookie, but
- 6:30Speaker 4: he obviously dealt with a lot of injuries and is
- 6:33Speaker 4: both at Georgia. He had the shoulders, now he's got
- 6:35Speaker 4: the shoulder. He wasn't as much of an impact player
- 6:38Speaker 4: last year as a year before. So there's no law
- 6:41Speaker 4: that says Jialen Carter needs to be paid thirty five
- 6:43Speaker 4: million dollars a year. And if Jed Drew Rosenhouse wants
- 6:46Speaker 4: to ask for it, he can ask for it. And
- 6:49Speaker 4: if he doesn't get it then and he says, well,
- 6:51Speaker 4: then trade my client.
- 6:52Speaker 3: We'll say that's up to Jillen Carter.
- 6:54Speaker 4: But I think the floor for Jalen Carter would now
- 6:58Speaker 4: be thirty five I'm sorry this dealing would be thirty five.
- 7:01Speaker 4: It's more likely thirty one to thirty four range. So
- 7:04Speaker 4: maybe this deal for Simmons, who also is represented by
- 7:08Speaker 4: drero'sen House. By the way, maybe that helps the Eagles
- 7:11Speaker 4: get him at a price that's more reasonable than having
- 7:15Speaker 4: to pay north of thirty five million.
- 7:18Speaker 1: All right, let's go to a David who was in
- 7:21Speaker 1: Ridley Park, Pa. Do we actually need Crosby or is
- 7:25Speaker 1: this just classic Hallie Roseman never being satisfied if they
- 7:29Speaker 1: pull the trigger. What's the realistic type of package that
- 7:32Speaker 1: doesn't involve giving up Jalen Carter. We kind of hit
- 7:35Speaker 1: on that a little bit there, But do you think
- 7:36Speaker 1: you actually I think the first part of his question
- 7:39Speaker 1: is a good one. Do you actually need Crosby?
- 7:44Speaker 3: I mean no, I mean you don't need him.
- 7:48Speaker 4: But just like with the Miles Garrott conversation, right when
- 7:52Speaker 4: you add a guy who's probably gonna be in the
- 7:53Speaker 4: Hall of Fame, you are that much better of a
- 7:56Speaker 4: football team and you have fewer questions, right, I mean,
- 7:59Speaker 4: j had a really nice breakout last year.
- 8:02Speaker 3: I think the world of Jealox Hunt.
- 8:03Speaker 4: But I can't sit here and sign a document right
- 8:06Speaker 4: now that officially states that Jealax Hunt is going to
- 8:09Speaker 4: be a superstar, right, or we're not going to have
- 8:11Speaker 4: any regression or anything like that, and we saw that
- 8:14Speaker 4: two years ago.
- 8:14Speaker 3: It looked like Nolan Smith when they won the Super
- 8:17Speaker 3: Bowl was.
- 8:17Speaker 4: On his way to becoming one heck of a player,
- 8:20Speaker 4: but last year didn't stay healthy, took a step back.
- 8:23Speaker 4: So honestly, your only bonafide sure Pro Bowl edge rusher
- 8:28Speaker 4: right now is Jonathan Godard, and he's coming off with
- 8:31Speaker 4: shoulder surgery.
- 8:32Speaker 3: So I think you'd have much fewer questions.
- 8:35Speaker 4: I don't think, I know you would have fewer questions
- 8:38Speaker 4: if you brought Max Crosby into this edge rush rotation.
- 8:41Speaker 4: You would feel really confident about what you got and
- 8:44Speaker 4: then you figure it out from there.
- 8:46Speaker 2: All right, let's go to Brian in Washington Township.
- 8:50Speaker 1: Most with all the changes over the offseason, including adding
- 8:54Speaker 1: some young weapons like mackay Lemon, how do you expect
- 8:58Speaker 1: the offense identity to show during the twenty twenty sixth season.
- 9:02Speaker 1: Is this a more balanced attack or is this staff
- 9:05Speaker 1: gonna double down on the explosive pass heavy scheme that
- 9:09Speaker 1: we have seen to maximize all these wide outs.
- 9:12Speaker 2: Brian, Washington Township, that.
- 9:17Speaker 3: Was a lot of questions.
- 9:18Speaker 4: In one question, I would say that the offensive identity
- 9:23Speaker 4: will be that the Eagles will still want to run
- 9:25Speaker 4: the ball at a like at a higher than league
- 9:31Speaker 4: average rate, but what they would like to do with
- 9:33Speaker 4: their passing game is to be able to work that
- 9:36Speaker 4: off of some under center off the off under center
- 9:40Speaker 4: play action, you know, as opposed to their passing game
- 9:43Speaker 4: in the past, which has been.
- 9:45Speaker 3: Like we run the ball, We run the ball, and
- 9:47Speaker 3: then we.
- 9:47Speaker 4: Get to like second or third long, and then we
- 9:49Speaker 4: drop back and pass. There wasn't a real marriage or
- 9:53Speaker 4: a symmetry between the run game in the past game.
- 9:56Speaker 4: There is an expectation with the Shanahan style offense. McVeigh
- 10:00Speaker 4: stout these West Coast modern nine West Coast offense that
- 10:03Speaker 4: you're trying to do a better job of running, of
- 10:06Speaker 4: marrying your run concepts with your play action concepts, so
- 10:10Speaker 4: things look similarly and they open up things in the
- 10:13Speaker 4: past game for you. All that stuff about like explosives
- 10:17Speaker 4: or you know, the second that remains to be seen.
- 10:20Speaker 3: It's not like the.
- 10:21Speaker 4: Eagles have a ton of explosive passing weapons that we
- 10:26Speaker 4: know of.
- 10:27Speaker 3: We know DeVante Smith can be.
- 10:28Speaker 4: Explosive, but without aj Brown, I mean, Mkay Lemon will
- 10:32Speaker 4: be a slot receiver. I know everybody's like enamored with
- 10:35Speaker 4: what he's looked like on certain video clips in practice,
- 10:37Speaker 4: but we have to see if he is an explosive receiver.
- 10:40Speaker 4: He's not a guy who is known for beating a
- 10:43Speaker 4: defense over the top Dallas Goddard's now what thirty one?
- 10:46Speaker 3: He's still a very productive over the middle receiver.
- 10:49Speaker 4: But is he going to turn around and break contact,
- 10:52Speaker 4: stay healthy and turn eight yard games.
- 10:54Speaker 3: Into twenty yard game? I don't know.
- 10:55Speaker 4: Is the running back going to be a featured part
- 10:58Speaker 4: of this pass offense we've wanted it to be. I
- 11:01Speaker 4: can't tell you that that's got to be something that
- 11:04Speaker 4: we see when the regular season starts. So I do
- 11:06Speaker 4: think the Eagles without aj Brown lack a secondary explode
- 11:13Speaker 4: a primary explosive option, but they could do better as
- 11:17Speaker 4: our unit making yards after the catch. I imagine Eli
- 11:20Speaker 4: Stowers has an explosive elopment to his game, but I
- 11:23Speaker 4: don't know how much he's going to be out there
- 11:25Speaker 4: to begin with and how simple it is going to
- 11:28Speaker 4: be for him to translate.
- 11:29Speaker 3: It over to the NFL level.
- 11:31Speaker 4: So I almost think the Eagles will be a little
- 11:32Speaker 4: bit more deliberate and methodical at first on how they
- 11:36Speaker 4: move the ball and we'll see if like a guy
- 11:38Speaker 4: like Dontavian Wicks or Marquise Brown, right, we'll see if
- 11:42Speaker 4: they can bring an explosive element to this pass offense
- 11:45Speaker 4: along with DeVante Smith.
- 11:46Speaker 1: Thank you, Brian. Let's go to Ray and Millville. How
- 11:49Speaker 1: confident do you think Vic Fangio is in Jehaid Campbell.
- 11:53Speaker 1: It's an interesting question because he really liked Nakobe Dean.
- 11:56Speaker 4: He did, but he also had no problems starting Johad
- 11:59Speaker 4: Campbell for the first eight games of last year as
- 12:01Speaker 4: a rookie. It's not like he started him, but like
- 12:05Speaker 4: nursed him right or pulled him for Jeremiah trying to
- 12:08Speaker 4: He just started him. He was basically playing every ILB
- 12:11Speaker 4: snap until the Kobe Dan came back, right.
- 12:13Speaker 1: But I would I would interject and say when Dean
- 12:16Speaker 1: came back, Campbell essentially had no role.
- 12:19Speaker 4: That is correct, And but I mean the Kobe Dan's
- 12:22Speaker 4: not there anymore, so I would think he goes right
- 12:24Speaker 4: back to Campbell. And as long as Campbell is healthy
- 12:27Speaker 4: in year two and is making strides, then he should
- 12:31Speaker 4: be He should be vixed.
- 12:33Speaker 3: Guy unless he screws up.
- 12:35Speaker 4: But you know, I mean, I think Vick is not
- 12:37Speaker 4: afraid to play young talented athletic players. We saw from
- 12:40Speaker 4: Andre mccoobaugh last year mccooba started, And remember mccoomba had
- 12:43Speaker 4: some screw ups that Tampa Bay game where he let
- 12:47Speaker 4: was it uh Guka beat him over the top because
- 12:49Speaker 4: he kind of messed up on a read. Like he
- 12:52Speaker 4: knows young guys are gonna make mistakes. As long as
- 12:54Speaker 4: they're compensating for him and growing each week, He'll play them.
- 12:58Speaker 2: All right. This from Tom and Marlton.
- 13:01Speaker 1: Jordan Mailatta said that he feels like a rookie again
- 13:04Speaker 1: working under the new offensive line coach. What kind of
- 13:07Speaker 1: transition do you think this will be for the line
- 13:10Speaker 1: that have only played for one coach?
- 13:15Speaker 4: Yeah, I think it'll be in some cases difficult, in
- 13:19Speaker 4: other cases potentially easier or more alleviating. I mean, I
- 13:24Speaker 4: think that I even had to talk with Jordan my
- 13:26Speaker 4: Lot about this, so it's interesting he brought it.
- 13:28Speaker 3: Up after the season. I asked him if he felt
- 13:30Speaker 3: like the way the Eagles played football with.
- 13:33Speaker 4: The tush push being such a prevalent part of their
- 13:35Speaker 4: third and fourth and short and the inside zone running
- 13:39Speaker 4: up the gut. I asked him if he thought that
- 13:40Speaker 4: that was one of the reasons why the line really
- 13:43Speaker 4: wore down over time and had all these injuries last year,
- 13:48Speaker 4: And he said, you know, I expect him to say no, no, no,
- 13:51Speaker 4: but he acknowledged that that, yes, that the physical style,
- 13:54Speaker 4: the punishing style that they've played with for so long,
- 13:57Speaker 4: may may have He wasn't sure, but contribut to guys
- 14:00Speaker 4: getting hurt and guys wearing down. Plus teams were doing
- 14:03Speaker 4: things differently defensively. They were slanting and you know, going
- 14:07Speaker 4: across their face more to get into the backfield.
- 14:09Speaker 3: So now you bring in a different.
- 14:11Speaker 4: Zone blocking scheme where you're not always blocking hat on
- 14:15Speaker 4: hat per se. You're moving horizontally, which is good if
- 14:19Speaker 4: you have good athletes, which the Eagles do on the line.
- 14:22Speaker 4: I mean, that might help preserve them a little bit
- 14:25Speaker 4: and take advantage of their athleticism as a whole instead
- 14:28Speaker 4: of just the center kicking out on inside zone. It
- 14:31Speaker 4: might take advantage of their athleticism as a whole moving
- 14:34Speaker 4: sideways a little more, and maywear the defense down a
- 14:37Speaker 4: little bit more because they're moving side to side.
- 14:41Speaker 1: All right, Christian Ocean City, Sorry, do you think the
- 14:46Speaker 1: edge rotation behind Grenard is elite enough to execute Fangio's
- 14:50Speaker 1: vision here or to rethin in the secondary.
- 14:54Speaker 2: I guess.
- 14:55Speaker 1: Well, the beginning of the question, which I didn't be
- 14:56Speaker 1: able to couldn't fit cause they don't get so many
- 14:58Speaker 1: characters on the screen. He say, which position group has
- 15:01Speaker 1: you more concerned? The edge rushers or the secondary?
- 15:08Speaker 4: Oh, I've got no concerns about the secondary. I mean,
- 15:10Speaker 4: I think I think the secondary might be the best
- 15:13Speaker 4: in the NFL. And if that's the case, if they
- 15:16Speaker 4: turn out to be, then they're gonna help that edge up.
- 15:19Speaker 1: He mentioned, by the way, Sorry, he does say, are
- 15:22Speaker 1: they thin if there's an injury to the secondary?
- 15:25Speaker 4: Oh, give me a secondary that's not you know, I mean,
- 15:30Speaker 4: well I would. I would argue though that in Jonathan
- 15:33Speaker 4: Jones of about fifteen year veteran, thirteen year veteran, a
- 15:37Speaker 4: guy who's played a lot of football. They have a
- 15:40Speaker 4: veteran outside corner who can come in and play and
- 15:44Speaker 4: has experience more so than they've ever had. They usually,
- 15:46Speaker 4: you know, whether it was Job or whether it was
- 15:49Speaker 4: Eli Rix or whether it's Killy Ringo. I mean, they
- 15:51Speaker 4: had guys who were first off the bench, who were
- 15:55Speaker 4: young guys who didn't have a lot of NFL experience,
- 15:57Speaker 4: So I actually think they have more at the corner
- 16:00Speaker 4: than they've had in the pass and same thing.
- 16:02Speaker 3: At safety with Epps and with Michael Carter.
- 16:04Speaker 4: The second you know they got with the gene who's
- 16:07Speaker 4: gonna play safety and base downs? They got three guys
- 16:09Speaker 4: there alongside mccooba who played a lot of NFL games.
- 16:13Speaker 4: So I do think the depth is better in the
- 16:15Speaker 4: second era.
- 16:15Speaker 1: All right, this one's from Kevin and del Ran yo Bosh.
- 16:18Speaker 1: Does a guy like Bernard have a shot at making
- 16:21Speaker 1: the roster as a developmental depth piece? Kevin in del Rand?
- 16:26Speaker 1: Who are Bernard?
- 16:28Speaker 3: Yo? keV?
- 16:29Speaker 4: I was actually near del Ran a lot this weekend
- 16:32Speaker 4: in rank Kocus Woods watching.
- 16:33Speaker 3: I don't even know where that is, yeh, it's in
- 16:35Speaker 3: that you.
- 16:36Speaker 4: Know, like Mount Laurel, Mount Holly, Willingborough area.
- 16:39Speaker 3: You know, does a guy like Bernard have a shot
- 16:42Speaker 3: at making the roster?
- 16:43Speaker 4: Well, I think they're using the exemption on him if
- 16:46Speaker 4: I'm not mistaken, right, I have to find out if
- 16:49Speaker 4: that means, if that carries through, like if he makes
- 16:52Speaker 4: the fifty three or they still allowed to use the
- 16:54Speaker 4: exemption on him to get like a fifty fourth. I
- 16:57Speaker 4: don't know, but I mean they'd use the seventh drop
- 17:00Speaker 4: pick on him. So they plan that, and they know
- 17:01Speaker 4: he's gonna have years of development, So it wouldn't shock
- 17:05Speaker 4: me if you wound up on the fifty three, especially
- 17:07Speaker 4: if they're allowed to use that exemption.
- 17:10Speaker 1: All right, let's go to sorry here. This one is
- 17:14Speaker 1: from Tim. He didn't leave a town. Come on, Tim,
- 17:16Speaker 1: we tell you gotta leave your town. Who do you
- 17:19Speaker 1: view as the single biggest threat in the NFC East
- 17:23Speaker 1: and any specific division matchup that could give you a
- 17:26Speaker 1: headache this year.
- 17:28Speaker 4: Oh, this is a great question for inside the Birds
- 17:31Speaker 4: fans because we are about to start our NFC East.
- 17:34Speaker 4: We do this every summer, we do an NFC East
- 17:37Speaker 4: previous series, but we bring Greg Cosel on not to
- 17:39Speaker 4: just say like this is good, this is beat. We
- 17:41Speaker 4: really get into the nuts and bolts of scheme and
- 17:45Speaker 4: coaching philosophy. And there's a lot of new There's new
- 17:48Speaker 4: coordinators almost on every single team, right Dallas got a
- 17:51Speaker 4: new DC, Eagles have a new OC, Washington has a
- 17:54Speaker 4: new OC n DC.
- 17:56Speaker 3: The Giants have a new oc DC head coach.
- 17:58Speaker 4: So it's gonna be a really awesome series, and we're
- 18:01Speaker 4: going to get into the nitty gritty. I I just
- 18:03Speaker 4: think overall, the division is better, there's more talent. I
- 18:07Speaker 4: think you saw last year the Giants started to take
- 18:09Speaker 4: a little step forward. They beat the Eagles in the game.
- 18:11Speaker 4: Dallas probably should have beat the Eagles twice if we're
- 18:14Speaker 4: being honest about the season opener. Ceedee Lamb dropped the
- 18:16Speaker 4: pass that if he catches it, you know Dallas could
- 18:19Speaker 4: win that game, so or at least tie in it.
- 18:22Speaker 3: Yeah, there, so.
- 18:25Speaker 2: In the half, right right?
- 18:27Speaker 4: So uh and then the Commanders, Uh, well, we won't
- 18:31Speaker 4: count the resting starters game.
- 18:33Speaker 3: They did beat the Eagles, that doesn't count.
- 18:34Speaker 4: I think they've got work to do, but I expect
- 18:37Speaker 4: them to be there last year. So but right now,
- 18:39Speaker 4: I think the Cowboys with Christian Parker, with the additions
- 18:43Speaker 4: they've made on defense, Jalen Thompson's a good safety, Quinn
- 18:46Speaker 4: Williams from last year, upgraded the linebacker a little bit,
- 18:50Speaker 4: and with the offense they had was already prolific. I
- 18:54Speaker 4: think that they're a pretty good threat to the Eagles.
- 18:58Speaker 4: And then we'll see about the Giants. I think it
- 19:00Speaker 4: could be some sneaky. Their defense, the personnel mic is
- 19:03Speaker 4: very good.
- 19:04Speaker 1: I agree on the Giant thing. Could be the question
- 19:07Speaker 1: too about giving you a headache. The Giants can give
- 19:09Speaker 1: you a headache. They can be a pain in your ass.
- 19:12Speaker 4: John Harbaugh team can always be an ache for anybody
- 19:13Speaker 4: because they're always They're always.
- 19:15Speaker 3: Well coached, they're always disciplined.
- 19:17Speaker 1: I ran something that the Giants had the lead in
- 19:19Speaker 1: the fourth quarter in eight games last year and lost
- 19:22Speaker 1: all eight games.
- 19:24Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 19:24Speaker 4: Yeah, that's why they've all got fired.
- 19:27Speaker 3: I think after the Bears.
- 19:28Speaker 4: Did it right, they came back from eighteen points to
- 19:30Speaker 4: win the game. After like, what team is that? The
- 19:33Speaker 4: Broncos have done it like against them three earlier?
- 19:36Speaker 1: Yeah, all right, Phil and Brigantine, one of our great listeners,
- 19:40Speaker 1: says Mike Jeff, what health concerns are there related to Crosby?
- 19:43Speaker 1: Shouldn't the compensation be less since the Ravens backpedaled off
- 19:47Speaker 1: of that deal based on those concerns. That goes back
- 19:51Speaker 1: I guess to our earlier conversation because he just texted
- 19:54Speaker 1: that in on the text board here.
- 19:56Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 19:56Speaker 4: I mean, I just think that that just all comes
- 19:58Speaker 4: down to do the Raiders think he's damaged goods, and
- 20:03Speaker 4: if they did, then they would probably trade him for
- 20:07Speaker 4: something lower. But from what I understand, they are fine
- 20:11Speaker 4: with him playing because they they are trying to build
- 20:15Speaker 4: up and they need it.
- 20:15Speaker 3: They love the guy. I mean the guy.
- 20:17Speaker 4: Yeah, great player, fits the community all that I mean.
- 20:22Speaker 4: So unless they get a haul, then they're good with
- 20:25Speaker 4: hanging on to him.
- 20:26Speaker 3: So it's not like it doesn't feel like an A. J.
- 20:27Speaker 4: Brown situation for them where it's untenable for him to
- 20:31Speaker 4: return to the locker room.
- 20:33Speaker 3: He's fine with being with the Raiders as far as
- 20:34Speaker 3: I understand.
- 20:35Speaker 4: So we'll say unless unless there's a We got a
- 20:38Speaker 4: couple of weeks here before they started training camp less
- 20:40Speaker 4: some things turn I don't. I don't see any like
- 20:44Speaker 4: all of a sudden, you're getting Max Crosby for like
- 20:46Speaker 4: a fourth round pick discount.
- 20:47Speaker 1: Okay, this one is from Mike in the ninety seven
- 20:50Speaker 1: to three studio.
- 20:52Speaker 2: Uh if the Eagles, do you.
- 20:54Speaker 1: Think the Eagles won you from ninety seven?
- 20:58Speaker 3: Trying to fly that one by me?
- 21:00Speaker 2: Yeah?
- 21:00Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, yeah, that's what I've go here. Do we
- 21:02Speaker 1: think the Eagles want to attach themselves? Long turned to
- 21:07Speaker 1: Jalen Carter.
- 21:10Speaker 3: Want to sure.
- 21:12Speaker 2: Are they worried?
- 21:14Speaker 3: Well, I yes, from what I.
- 21:15Speaker 4: Understand that, you know, and this is from talking to
- 21:17Speaker 4: some other teams who are trying to figure out what
- 21:19Speaker 4: the Eagles are doing with jilln Carter. From when I
- 21:24Speaker 4: just talking to them, they feel like maybe there's some
- 21:26Speaker 4: reluctance to want to extend him long term at a
- 21:29Speaker 4: huge amount of money, you know what I'm saying, Like,
- 21:31Speaker 4: it's not just about the years, about the money and
- 21:33Speaker 4: the years and what's going to happen, Like when they
- 21:36Speaker 4: saw that. I'm not hearing that they're completely against it
- 21:39Speaker 4: or anything. They just have some concerns about exactly what
- 21:42Speaker 4: they want to do going forward there.
- 21:44Speaker 2: Like when they saw that deal today, like.
- 21:46Speaker 3: Crap, No, I mean again, I think like.
- 21:51Speaker 4: I think that if Jeffrey Simmons is setting the floor
- 21:54Speaker 4: at thirty five million, then you don't have to pay
- 21:57Speaker 4: Jill and Carter thirty five million because he hasn't proven
- 22:00Speaker 4: to be Jeffrey Simmons yet, so in a sense.
- 22:04Speaker 1: So you think he gets less than Simmons, even though
- 22:06Speaker 1: he's younger.
- 22:09Speaker 4: I mean, how old Jiffry, He's just like Jeffrey Simmons
- 22:11Speaker 4: is thirty three, right, Simmons.
- 22:16Speaker 2: Could be twenty eight years old.
- 22:18Speaker 4: Yes, yeah, I mean, this is not an old guy
- 22:21Speaker 4: by any stretcher. You're still getting next three or four
- 22:23Speaker 4: years of him being really good. So see Lawrence.
- 22:27Speaker 3: Text to Lawrence was at thirty two million, right, and
- 22:29Speaker 3: I think, by.
- 22:30Speaker 2: The way, twenty five so three extra.
- 22:32Speaker 4: Years, right, And Jalen and Chris Jones was somewhere north
- 22:37Speaker 4: of thirty million, So you knew it was going to
- 22:39Speaker 4: be north of thirty million. You just didn't want Simmons
- 22:43Speaker 4: to sign for like forty million. And then like, now
- 22:45Speaker 4: I gotta give Jalen Carter like thirty eight or something.
- 22:48Speaker 4: So I just I think it made it more obvious
- 22:51Speaker 4: what Carter's tag is, something in that thirty to thirty
- 22:54Speaker 4: three range.
- 22:55Speaker 2: All right.
- 22:55Speaker 1: I just you know, I wonder if I'm Jalen Carter,
- 22:58Speaker 1: I'm the younger guy, I say, hey, I want more years.
- 23:02Speaker 1: He got three years. I want five years at that average?
- 23:07Speaker 1: And how much you know, do you feel comfortable knowing
- 23:11Speaker 1: that you've got to pay the other guys still too?
- 23:13Speaker 3: Well, that's that's the point I was about to make
- 23:15Speaker 3: with you.
- 23:15Speaker 2: Mike.
- 23:16Speaker 4: Let's say you're I mean, you're the Eagles, and you're
- 23:18Speaker 4: already paying Jalen Carter twenty six million a year, right,
- 23:22Speaker 4: you have a player like Moro Jomo who's up on
- 23:25Speaker 4: the end of his deal this year, and he's proven
- 23:27Speaker 4: to be pretty good, you know. I mean six and
- 23:29Speaker 4: a half sacks I think last six acts last year
- 23:33Speaker 4: for a DT that's pretty good. He almost had numbers
- 23:35Speaker 4: very identical to Milton Williams this third year.
- 23:38Speaker 3: So you'd have to be happy with that.
- 23:41Speaker 4: And then you've got a couple of guys in the
- 23:42Speaker 4: pipeline Ty Robinson, plus guys that you have to pay
- 23:47Speaker 4: going forward, which is Jelex Haunt and Cooper to gen
- 23:50Speaker 4: QUINNYA Mitchell.
- 23:51Speaker 3: So you know, it's not just about.
- 23:53Speaker 4: Jillen Carter maybe having a down year last year or
- 23:56Speaker 4: having some off field concerns that he came with.
- 23:59Speaker 3: It might just be about resource allocation.
- 24:01Speaker 4: I mean, they'd love to have a homegrown guy who
- 24:04Speaker 4: they drafted in top ten be with them for a
- 24:06Speaker 4: long time.
- 24:07Speaker 3: But if it meant that they lose two guys because of.
- 24:09Speaker 4: It, or a guy that they like like Moro Joemo
- 24:13Speaker 4: has to go when they could keep him at a
- 24:14Speaker 4: lower rate and pay some of all that stuff. Factors
- 24:18Speaker 4: into it, and so I'm sure they would like to
- 24:19Speaker 4: try to find a deal that works best for them
- 24:23Speaker 4: and Joe and Carter to keep them but also allows
- 24:25Speaker 4: them some financial ability to keep the entire defense intact.
- 24:29Speaker 1: All right, we'll continue our summer mailbag questions with Jeff.
