- 0:07Speaker 1: accused of murdering a Texas man of Venezuelan charged with
- 0:11Speaker 1: filming and selling child pornography in Michigan. These are just
- 0:15Speaker 1: some of the heinous migrant criminals caught because of President
- 0:19Speaker 1: Donald J. Trump's leadership. I'm Christy nom the United States
- 0:23Speaker 1: Secretary of Homeland Security. Under President Trump, attempted illegal border
- 0:28Speaker 1: crossings are at the lowest levels ever recorded, and over
- 0:31Speaker 1: one hundred thousand illegal aliens have been arrested. If you
- 0:35Speaker 1: are here illegally, your next you will be fined nearly
- 0:39Speaker 1: one thousand dollars a day, imprisoned, and deported. You will
- 0:43Speaker 1: never return. But if you register using our CBP home

- 0:57Speaker 2: Sponsored by the United States Department of Homeland Security.
- 1:00Speaker 3: I think with this song it kind of let me
- 1:03Speaker 3: prove I guess, like how versatile I was, you know,
- 1:08Speaker 3: And I was very satisfied with showing a world that
- 1:11Speaker 3: because I feel like I had got boxed them. I
- 1:13Speaker 3: take keep making the science type beats. You know what
- 1:15Speaker 3: I'm saying that the myth is shit or whatever people
- 1:18Speaker 3: wanted to criticize me about. But I felt like when
- 1:21Speaker 3: it came to the Beyonce song and producing it, it
- 1:25Speaker 3: really got to like showcase my true talent.
- 1:30Speaker 4: My graduates from my school being false backdrop drop drop,
- 1:37Speaker 4: backdrop drop.
- 1:49Speaker 5: All right, god smoking back e y l we in
- 1:52Speaker 5: la and ever.
- 1:54Speaker 6: Whenever we have these music conversations is always exciting because.
- 1:59Speaker 5: We liked to bake music all the time. Just was
- 2:01Speaker 5: having a music conversation offline.
- 2:04Speaker 6: So so we got the We got the opportunity to
- 2:07Speaker 6: talk to my boy take key, Take Keith, Take Keith.
- 2:13Speaker 6: So we actually met at a sixteen shot at a
- 2:16Speaker 6: sixteen Z.
- 2:17Speaker 5: We met at their I guess conference.
- 2:21Speaker 7: Yeah, yeah, yep, it was that conference.
- 2:23Speaker 5: And if you don't know what a.
- 2:24Speaker 6: Sixteen is, that's the Adresan Harwitz Cultural Leadership Fund. That's
- 2:30Speaker 6: their investment are right, and they have a lot of
- 2:34Speaker 6: athletes and entertainers and cultural figures that invest in their
- 2:38Speaker 6: venture capital fund. So we met him and obviously if
- 2:42Speaker 6: you're into hip hop music, you know his resume when
- 2:45Speaker 6: it comes to production, everybody from Drake to twenty one
- 2:50Speaker 6: Savage to Beyonce, Travis Scott, Sicko, Moh, the.
- 2:58Speaker 5: List goes on.
- 2:59Speaker 6: So, you know, one of the greatest producers of our
- 3:02Speaker 6: generation has a tremendous disciography when it comes to music.
- 3:09Speaker 6: But what is interesting is that he's he's very much
- 3:12Speaker 6: into entrepreneurship and business. So we're gonna talk about music,
- 3:17Speaker 6: We're gonna talk about business, We're going to talk about investing,
- 3:19Speaker 6: We're gonna talk about the whole, the whole gambit.
- 3:22Speaker 5: And he's young too.
- 3:23Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 3:23Speaker 8: I think that was one of the things when I
- 3:25Speaker 8: saw you in CALLI and I was like, you know,
- 3:28Speaker 8: I was so happy to see you, right, because these spaces,
- 3:32Speaker 8: in these rooms, a lot of times you don't see
- 3:33Speaker 8: us in it, and there's not many, and to be
- 3:36Speaker 8: in the industry and you don't see people looking at
- 3:39Speaker 8: the investment side, and so you know, being how young
- 3:43Speaker 8: you are and being in that space, I'm like, oh,
- 3:46Speaker 8: the future is in good hands.
- 3:48Speaker 6: It's in great hands. So first and foremost, thank you
- 3:50Speaker 6: for joining us. Brother, appreciate it, and.
- 3:51Speaker 7: I appreciate you.
- 3:53Speaker 5: Yeah, for sure.
- 3:54Speaker 6: So let's get into it, all right, So let's start
- 3:57Speaker 6: with the music coming from Nashville, Tennessee, not from Memphis. Correction,
- 4:04Speaker 6: there's a connection with Nashville, right, Yeah.
- 4:06Speaker 3: I went to school, went to college in Nashville and
- 4:09Speaker 3: Middle Tennessee state. Yeah, Middle Tennessee, stay outside of Nashville.
- 4:13Speaker 3: And about my studio in nash.
- 4:16Speaker 6: Okay, I knew that it was a connection with the
- 4:18Speaker 6: Nashville So how did you get in a lot of
- 4:20Speaker 6: people have dreams to get into the music business. Very
- 4:23Speaker 6: few people are able to be successful, and it's almost
- 4:27Speaker 6: impossible to reach the level of success that you have reached.
- 4:31Speaker 6: So what was you how what was your journey into
- 4:34Speaker 6: you know, getting to become a superstar producer in the game.
- 4:38Speaker 7: It was a long journey.
- 4:39Speaker 3: I think it was just phases in my life, you know,
- 4:43Speaker 3: starting from middle school, you know, twelve eleven twelve, experiment
- 4:50Speaker 3: with sounds and computer programs and trying to understand what
- 4:55Speaker 3: direction I want to go to room from that to
- 4:59Speaker 3: me trying to record music. It went from that to
- 5:03Speaker 3: me realizing I can make beats, you know, producing music.
- 5:08Speaker 5: Who did you teach yourself?
- 5:09Speaker 7: Yeah? Everything was self talk.
- 5:10Speaker 3: So it went from net phase to me going to
- 5:14Speaker 3: college doing producing and then picking up DJing, you know,
- 5:19Speaker 3: and it just kind of all connected like my senior
- 5:22Speaker 3: year last semester, you know what I'm saying.
- 5:26Speaker 6: So who was the first lest that you really like
- 5:29Speaker 6: gave a B two and kind of like it started
- 5:32Speaker 6: to really spread.
- 5:35Speaker 3: It was like I said, it was it was multiple
- 5:39Speaker 3: scenarios going on because I knew I understood the power
- 5:42Speaker 3: of network very young. So I would say one of
- 5:46Speaker 3: the first people who I was working with at the
- 5:48Speaker 3: time was my homeboy baby Og and you know, he
- 5:52Speaker 3: was going back young Nick at the time, and basically
- 5:55Speaker 3: he had did a hot one up seven it's like
- 5:58Speaker 3: the main hip hop really your station in Memphis. He
- 6:02Speaker 3: had did a competition and won a competition. It was
- 6:07Speaker 3: like top finalists for the competition, and that was like
- 6:10Speaker 3: my first time having my music on the radio in
- 6:13Speaker 3: some somewhat of a rotation, you know. In the mix
- 6:16Speaker 3: of that. I was working with Keith Glock also, you
- 6:19Speaker 3: know what I'm saying. I was like in the tenth grade.
- 6:22Speaker 3: We was working putting our mixtapes on that Pith and.
- 6:28Speaker 7: You know that was hot at the time.
- 6:29Speaker 3: We was trying to get to live mixtapes, were trying
- 6:31Speaker 3: to get to like spin reelerhead just kind of got high.
- 6:35Speaker 3: So we was putting our music like that too, and
- 6:40Speaker 3: also in the mix of that. Around that same period,
- 6:43Speaker 3: I was working with Blockboard JB.
- 6:46Speaker 8: You know, so like you're saying these names that I'm
- 6:48Speaker 8: thinking like at this time because you're from Memphis, which
- 6:52Speaker 8: is not like most people are not gonna think, yo,
- 6:54Speaker 8: that's a hot bad for hip hop artists. But this
- 6:56Speaker 8: is a different time, right because you said Keith Clock,
- 6:59Speaker 8: but you got you got you under stay, you got
- 7:00Speaker 8: the off, you got gotty.
- 7:01Speaker 7: Obviously, like are these people.
- 7:03Speaker 8: Influencing how you're trying to make the music or is
- 7:06Speaker 8: it like are you listening to New York or what
- 7:08Speaker 8: Atlanta is doing?
- 7:09Speaker 3: That was definitely the Myphis influence in my music, like
- 7:12Speaker 3: the old Gotti and the old you know what I'm saying,
- 7:16Speaker 3: Like it was it's artist that y'all probably never even
- 7:19Speaker 3: heard of who influenced Myphis and it's the you know,
- 7:22Speaker 3: the culture like so much that it was like, damn,
- 7:25Speaker 3: you know, it takes.
- 7:26Speaker 7: It takes.
- 7:27Speaker 3: It takes people like Drake to put a player fly
- 7:30Speaker 3: simple in the song where y'all be like, oh, who
- 7:32Speaker 3: the fuck is playing Fly, y'all looking up. Play a
- 7:35Speaker 3: Fly now, y'all see all damn. So he has so
- 7:38Speaker 3: much influence in mephis especially in the nineties when my parents,
- 7:42Speaker 3: you know what I'm saying, was coming up. He was
- 7:45Speaker 3: making music then. You know, play a Fly. You got
- 7:50Speaker 3: like people like Criminal Mind, Frazer Boy, you know, Skinny Pimp.
- 7:56Speaker 3: You know you got, you got like mac E, you
- 7:59Speaker 3: know the Lizen Gos. Only so many people like even
- 8:02Speaker 3: like O g Bu Dirty. You know what I'm saying,
- 8:05Speaker 3: y'all heard I thought got one of the biggest influence
- 8:11Speaker 3: in Memphis.
- 8:15Speaker 7: Y'all I never heard of Nah, we don't learn that.
- 8:17Speaker 7: I got the research.
- 8:20Speaker 6: I mean, it's important to know regionally was because every
- 8:24Speaker 6: every region has their own underground artists may not have
- 8:28Speaker 6: been you know, worldwide or reached, but they have a
- 8:31Speaker 6: strong influence there, like you know what I'm saying, and
- 8:35Speaker 6: especially like like you said, Memphis is like one of
- 8:38Speaker 6: the hard hottest cities right now when it comes to
- 8:40Speaker 6: music because of Gotti and all the guys out there
- 8:44Speaker 6: that's really you know, doing their thing. But previous it
- 8:47Speaker 6: wasn't always like that. So if you don't.
- 8:49Speaker 5: Have like La or New York or Atlanta.
- 8:52Speaker 6: Where you know, if you become hot in those cities,
- 8:55Speaker 6: you're going to be hot all over, Like you know
- 8:57Speaker 6: what I'm saying. But a lot of time, like if
- 8:59Speaker 6: you're from Oakland, or if you're from Memphis or Houston, Texas,
- 9:03Speaker 6: Like there's people in Houston that was slim Thug was
- 9:06Speaker 6: already a millionaire by the time we heard of him,
- 9:08Speaker 6: but he was already big in Memphis, like you know
- 9:10Speaker 6: what I'm saying. So it's dope because each region kind
- 9:14Speaker 6: of influences. And then like you said with Drake, like
- 9:17Speaker 6: I think Drake, I think his stepfather is from Memphis, right,
- 9:21Speaker 6: his father his father from somebody he used to spend
- 9:23Speaker 6: someone's out there. So that's how his influenced to Memphis
- 9:26Speaker 6: influenced and him being the biggest in the world. He
- 9:31Speaker 6: when he does songs with black Boy JB or he
- 9:33Speaker 6: starts to put different influences in. That's a way for
- 9:37Speaker 6: the world to kind of see Memphis. So what's the
- 9:42Speaker 6: first song that really went crazy?
- 9:43Speaker 7: Though? What you would say?
- 9:48Speaker 3: I think I think one, Like what was the first
- 9:51Speaker 3: song y'all probably heard of me? I think it might
- 9:54Speaker 3: have been look Alive, Look alive. I think it because
- 9:56Speaker 3: that was like, there was just so many factors of that. Obviously,
- 9:59Speaker 3: the song it was crazy, Drake went crazy on it.
- 10:01Speaker 3: Then the dance, now the dance came from shoot Shot
- 10:06Speaker 3: and that was so that's yours too.
- 10:07Speaker 7: That was that was the original.
- 10:08Speaker 5: That's now.
- 10:09Speaker 8: When people heard that that they saw people doing it
- 10:12Speaker 8: and they were like, no, the movie is called the Shoot.
- 10:14Speaker 8: So I was like, shoot, sure, you got to go
- 10:16Speaker 8: listen to that record what Night Fortnight? And then it
- 10:19Speaker 8: went crazy. Yeah, so you said, is that the one
- 10:22Speaker 8: that you're gonna say something Shoots the dance?
- 10:26Speaker 3: Yeah, Shoot was the song I was gonna say, but
- 10:29Speaker 3: I wanted to see what you got, you got you, you
- 10:31Speaker 3: know what I'm saying. So Shoot was the original song
- 10:34Speaker 3: that went viral that me and Block put out you
- 10:36Speaker 3: know self destrode that we went viral, you know, and
- 10:40Speaker 3: that was like twenty seventeen. In the in the mix
- 10:44Speaker 3: of that, I was also doing records with Money Bag
- 10:48Speaker 3: Yo and Black Youngster. We had one of the biggest
- 10:51Speaker 3: club records in the South called Gang Gang. If y'all
- 10:54Speaker 3: heard of it or not, but you play Gang Gang
- 10:56Speaker 3: right now? Arkansas, Mississippi, Alabama, anywhere at Tennessee. They gonna
- 11:04Speaker 3: know a word for word, look it up gang, no video,
- 11:07Speaker 3: it was. It was just put out on all spindriller,
- 11:10Speaker 3: you know what I'm saying. It was just like some
- 11:13Speaker 3: I guess, like some last minute shit and it just
- 11:15Speaker 3: went crazy like that that shoot, and I say, like
- 11:22Speaker 3: after that, like Rover in the mix of that. Then
- 11:26Speaker 3: me and Keith Locke put out Russian Cream. All this
- 11:30Speaker 3: was in the same time, within a year span.
- 11:32Speaker 7: Sucking up. That's when you just.
- 11:35Speaker 5: You just one thing led to the next and it's
- 11:39Speaker 5: just crazy.
- 11:40Speaker 3: Hell God for real, because it was like its just everything,
- 11:43Speaker 3: just the universe just centered to me like everything I
- 11:48Speaker 3: was shit. I was working on five years ago, shit,
- 11:51Speaker 3: I was working on a year ago, shit, I was
- 11:53Speaker 3: working on two years ago. Things that just connected all
- 11:56Speaker 3: at one time.
- 11:57Speaker 8: It just so as that's happening up because you get
- 12:01Speaker 8: the success is growing, the records is playing.
- 12:03Speaker 7: There's the business side for it too. Yeah.
- 12:06Speaker 8: So being that you were so young at the time
- 12:08Speaker 8: when you were creating the music, did somebody put you
- 12:11Speaker 8: on the game? Was that something you had to learn
- 12:12Speaker 8: as you were going I was very naive to the
- 12:14Speaker 8: business side, and it took situations for me at a
- 12:18Speaker 8: young age to realize I need to get serious about
- 12:21Speaker 8: the business side.
- 12:22Speaker 7: You know.
- 12:22Speaker 3: It was times where it was I was on the
- 12:25Speaker 3: basically like the shit end of the stick, you know,
- 12:28Speaker 3: and I'm you know, under age at the time. God
- 12:30Speaker 3: took advantage of in the music situation, and you know,
- 12:33Speaker 3: it just I'm not gonna get too much in detail
- 12:36Speaker 3: a little, but it basically taught me the business, you know.
- 12:38Speaker 3: And I just I was like sixteen and shit went left.
- 12:45Speaker 3: You know, Memphis ain't had too many resources. My pops
- 12:48Speaker 3: tried to do what he could, you know, we just
- 12:51Speaker 3: it just something that just made me go so much harder.
- 12:55Speaker 7: And you know, probably like.
- 12:59Speaker 3: Maybe when I turned like eighteen, I started to know
- 13:03Speaker 3: more about like all right, you can get paid from this,
- 13:07Speaker 3: you can get paid from that, you can get publishing.
- 13:10Speaker 3: You know what I'm saying, You can get you can
- 13:11Speaker 3: give mechanical ruorties.
- 13:14Speaker 8: Okay, so what I'm saying, yeah, those are the things
- 13:16Speaker 8: that and I'm glad, I'm glad you're bringing light to
- 13:18Speaker 8: that because when people make music, they don't know those things.
- 13:20Speaker 7: So obviously you can sell the beat.
- 13:23Speaker 8: So one are the other things that you can make
- 13:25Speaker 8: money from making the actual music.
- 13:27Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 13:28Speaker 3: So the thing is when you sell a beat, just
- 13:30Speaker 3: like exclusively, like to a label or artist or something,
- 13:34Speaker 3: you're selling the masters to it, right. You're not owning
- 13:37Speaker 3: the masters to the beat no more. That's why people
- 13:40Speaker 3: charge so much of a front forty fifty thousand dollars,
- 13:43Speaker 3: like big producers charged the much of a front because if
- 13:45Speaker 3: that was the case, if the artist was to put
- 13:48Speaker 3: out the song or the labels to put out the song,
- 13:50Speaker 3: the producer would be entitled to how much of a percentage?
- 13:54Speaker 7: You know what I'm saying.
- 13:54Speaker 3: He can get out of the scenario, but it's a
- 13:57Speaker 3: set rate when he's sealing the beat because he's selling
- 13:59Speaker 3: them the master to the beat. You know, it's part
- 14:03Speaker 3: of the song master. Can you what we said? Mechanical Yeah,
- 14:07Speaker 3: that's on the mechanical side, like the song. You're putting
- 14:09Speaker 3: out the song, the record, the actual record. Then you
- 14:12Speaker 3: got like the publishing.
- 14:13Speaker 5: Okay, So how important is it to so producers get publishing.
- 14:21Speaker 7: If you did the beat by yourself?
- 14:23Speaker 6: Yeah okay, So how important is that? Because that's something
- 14:28Speaker 6: that Ryan Leslie has talked about with us. He does production.
- 14:31Speaker 3: Ran Leslie I'm for me. Yeah, he real talented.
- 14:36Speaker 6: Yeah, So how important is that for producers to keep publishing?
- 14:42Speaker 5: To know about publishing?
- 14:43Speaker 3: So publishing is what produces. Like I said, I said
- 14:49Speaker 3: this before, publishing is what I've made my living off
- 14:52Speaker 3: For the past five years. I have seen little to
- 14:55Speaker 3: no money on the mechanical side for various reasons. Agreements
- 14:59Speaker 3: not done, you know what I'm saying, Like labels, and
- 15:03Speaker 3: you know, it's just it's a lot of reasons, and
- 15:06Speaker 3: it's like holdups on a lot of it. So as
- 15:08Speaker 3: far as the publishing, you're in control of it. You
- 15:12Speaker 3: don't have to wait till the label get this cleared
- 15:14Speaker 3: and get this paid or whatever. You're in control of it.
- 15:17Speaker 3: So when it comes to a publishing situation, nine times
- 15:20Speaker 3: out of ten, if you get a hit, you're gonna
- 15:23Speaker 3: get a you know, a radio hit, you're gonna get
- 15:25Speaker 3: some money, a nice little lum sum. On the publishing side,
- 15:29Speaker 3: it's up to you if you want to do an
- 15:30Speaker 3: adme or you want to do a pub there the
- 15:33Speaker 3: difference would be it's, you know what I'm saying, what
- 15:37Speaker 3: you own it and how much you getting.
- 15:39Speaker 6: So the admin deals like an admin, they track it
- 15:42Speaker 6: down for you and they take a percentage for it.
- 15:44Speaker 3: It's the same thing with a co pub. I guess
- 15:47Speaker 3: the difference would be what they own and out of
- 15:50Speaker 3: it and what you getting up front. If you do
- 15:53Speaker 3: a co pub, you might say I want a million
- 15:56Speaker 3: dollars a front. You do an ad me, you might
- 15:58Speaker 3: they might be like, no, we can't give you a
- 15:59Speaker 3: mere would give you a couple hundred thousand. It's just
- 16:02Speaker 3: whatever situation you might you.
- 16:04Speaker 8: Know, be the inspiration from others drives us forward. Their
- 16:08Speaker 8: resilience pushes us to excel, and their path navigates the
- 16:12Speaker 8: way towards freedom. Ford is proud to celebrate Black History
- 16:16Speaker 8: not just this month, but year round. They're committed to
- 16:20Speaker 8: being the fuel for change, supporting Ford Fund program centered
- 16:23Speaker 8: around economic, educational, and empowerment opportunities for our communities to
- 16:28Speaker 8: continue creating the future.
- 16:30Speaker 7: Learn more at fordfund dot org. Built Ford Proud.
- 16:36Speaker 6: And then so every time your record gets played, you
- 16:39Speaker 6: get some money for that, right that's like the publishing.
- 16:43Speaker 6: So if they're planning it on the radio, if they're
- 16:45Speaker 6: doing anything like if it's getting spent on the Super
- 16:47Speaker 6: Bowl ad, whatever, the portion of that the publishing that
- 16:51Speaker 6: goes back to you on a residual basis monthly, well whatever.
- 16:58Speaker 7: Yeah, So.
- 17:01Speaker 8: As a producer, you're not at the time you're doing this,
- 17:04Speaker 8: you're independently doing this. You're not signed to a label,
- 17:07Speaker 8: and you're like the in house producer for that.
- 17:09Speaker 3: Like if there was no label, I wouldn't I didn't
- 17:12Speaker 3: sign you know, no no label. I just was trying
- 17:14Speaker 3: to do everything independently. So I learned the whole structure.
- 17:21Speaker 3: It was tempting, you know, right, people throwing money and
- 17:24Speaker 3: the opposite to you want to know, like if you
- 17:27Speaker 3: if you're throwing me this upfront, how much you're really
- 17:30Speaker 3: making up me?
- 17:31Speaker 7: You know.
- 17:32Speaker 6: So you said something like it was like a lot
- 17:35Speaker 6: of producers say that they they don't get paid for
- 17:38Speaker 6: beats or they waiting to get paid and they haven't
- 17:41Speaker 6: gotten paid, And you said something to that effect, Why
- 17:45Speaker 6: is that, like, what causes a producer to not get
- 17:48Speaker 6: paid for a beat?
- 17:50Speaker 7: The it's various reasons, you know.
- 17:52Speaker 3: Majority of the time, it just it just be like
- 17:54Speaker 3: the paperwork ain't done properly, you know, sick natures. Ain't
- 17:58Speaker 3: saying somebody else putting in a claim. It might been
- 18:03Speaker 3: somebody saying they wrote, you know, or whatever they want.
- 18:08Speaker 3: Another producer might come in the picture, like I did this,
- 18:11Speaker 3: or you know, somebody sampleed this. It's various reasons, but
- 18:14Speaker 3: it's a majority of the songs or you know going
- 18:17Speaker 3: through this process.
- 18:18Speaker 5: Now that's crazy.
- 18:19Speaker 7: Yeah, that is tough. So even when you have like
- 18:22Speaker 7: if you're doing a song, you're producing it.
- 18:25Speaker 8: Somebody comes in, I guess they add maybe you know,
- 18:29Speaker 8: let's add a drum to that. Technically they co produce
- 18:31Speaker 8: it with you. How does that work through they get
- 18:33Speaker 8: like points from the It could be.
- 18:36Speaker 3: Both sides, you know, it just depends on what they
- 18:39Speaker 3: negotiate with me or what you know, they actually put
- 18:43Speaker 3: in on it, Like if they did us signy have
- 18:46Speaker 3: to get part or you know, whatever the case might be.
- 18:48Speaker 3: And they for Shure are tied of the publishing, you know.
- 18:51Speaker 6: So as far as a lot of I've heard before,
- 18:55Speaker 6: producers they'll send beats to artists and then the artist
- 18:59Speaker 6: will pick it or artists to like it. And then
- 19:01Speaker 6: obviously some artists they'll reach out to producers for beats.
- 19:04Speaker 5: What what have you done? Have you done that?
- 19:07Speaker 6: Where you just send a package of beats to set
- 19:10Speaker 6: artists and then let him go through it, Like, what's
- 19:13Speaker 6: your process for that?
- 19:15Speaker 3: Like like when I when I'm getting placements with people
- 19:18Speaker 3: and being in the studio with artists, you.
- 19:21Speaker 5: Know, you do it, you do it in person?
- 19:23Speaker 7: Both? Yeah, yeah, I do both.
- 19:26Speaker 3: I feel like, you know, it just depends on the
- 19:28Speaker 3: vibe or the artists or really it can be the
- 19:31Speaker 3: vible what I mean. You know, I might be like
- 19:34Speaker 3: I'm in I'm in a mold where I can just
- 19:36Speaker 3: make way more beats and a better vibe, you know,
- 19:40Speaker 3: at homework in the studio by myself and send it off.
- 19:43Speaker 3: Or it can be a vibe where I'd be like,
- 19:45Speaker 3: all right, I got a link with this artist in town.
- 19:49Speaker 5: Let's going on cook up? Then the way, how is
- 19:51Speaker 5: it working with Beyonce?
- 19:55Speaker 7: You going there?
- 19:56Speaker 3: He just asked it out, you said so blatantly. You
- 20:01Speaker 3: can't said, because before we get to Beyonce, like we.
- 20:07Speaker 8: Got to like the Black Boy JB record is big.
- 20:09Speaker 7: Obviously Drake's on that.
- 20:12Speaker 8: But there's a transition and you obviously from your life
- 20:15Speaker 8: from that point to sickle mode because sickle mode is
- 20:19Speaker 8: something that's very rare for producers. Right, you have sold
- 20:24Speaker 8: ten million records, that's ten that's a diamond record, So
- 20:28Speaker 8: talking about the journey from from from that moment would
- 20:31Speaker 8: shoot and look alive to sycle mode and like now
- 20:36Speaker 8: that they know that tagline, like how many people are
- 20:38Speaker 8: coming after you? And then boom on top of that
- 20:41Speaker 8: fast paced like success as it seems to us, you know,
- 20:44Speaker 8: you have the biggest record to date that you've you've made.
- 20:50Speaker 7: So what was that like their process was was was cool?
- 20:55Speaker 3: I think I look back on it like everything was
- 20:58Speaker 3: kind of like a blur for me because I was
- 21:00Speaker 3: in school. I'm having to fly out of town every weekend.
- 21:05Speaker 3: Sometimes I'm getting back the morning of from the airport
- 21:08Speaker 3: the morning of, you know what I'm saying, trying to
- 21:10Speaker 3: make sure I get the class, and I'm just working
- 21:14Speaker 3: with everybody. We're going, you know, doing interviews. Were in
- 21:18Speaker 3: New York, We're in La we in Miami.
- 21:21Speaker 7: You know.
- 21:21Speaker 3: On top of that, I'm trying to balance personal life.
- 21:26Speaker 3: I feel like that moment was a real like challenge
- 21:29Speaker 3: for me. You know, I was going through a lot
- 21:31Speaker 3: at home too with my mom at the time. She
- 21:36Speaker 3: was battling some mental health issues. So I was in
- 21:41Speaker 3: the process of getting that situated, trying to get school balanced.
- 21:48Speaker 3: You know and also work with these artists Light Travis Scott,
- 21:54Speaker 3: you know, getting in the studio and lock in and
- 21:56Speaker 3: work and still keep a smile on my face and
- 22:00Speaker 3: understand what God gave me and bless me with. You know,
- 22:02Speaker 3: I can't take it for granted, so keeping out it
- 22:05Speaker 3: in mind, I just was full for us, Like grind Mode,
- 22:08Speaker 3: it was a blur. I just knew I had to
- 22:10Speaker 3: get to the next level. So, you know, I think
- 22:13Speaker 3: they came out on this summer. When was it like August?
- 22:20Speaker 3: I feel like eighteen August eighteen. That was my last semester.
- 22:26Speaker 3: I was taking summer class. I wanted to ask him, like, YO,
- 22:29Speaker 3: what point you like, yo, this school thing? Like I
- 22:31Speaker 3: was taking summer classes too, So I was like, you know,
- 22:35Speaker 3: at that point, I had my you know, my record
- 22:41Speaker 3: Travis and Drake, and I'm like, it is my last semester.
- 22:45Speaker 7: Let me get through it.
- 22:46Speaker 3: But I'm glad I stuck through it because at the
- 22:48Speaker 3: end of it, the last literally the last week, my
- 22:53Speaker 3: last week of college, the song went number one, you
- 22:56Speaker 3: know what I'm saying. So that that just told me,
- 22:58Speaker 3: like if anything is shown meet God wanted me to
- 23:01Speaker 3: stick with it and keep going. Because I feel like
- 23:05Speaker 3: it got me so much further just being able to
- 23:08Speaker 3: be like, I got a degree and I got a
- 23:11Speaker 3: number one record. I don't think nobody else did that
- 23:14Speaker 3: in history. I remember the same week. Yeah, it was
- 23:17Speaker 3: like a college student has number one record. Remember that
- 23:20Speaker 3: the headlines for it.
- 23:22Speaker 8: So like as you are you walking around campus and
- 23:24Speaker 8: like are you the I mean you gotta be are
- 23:26Speaker 8: you the man?
- 23:26Speaker 7: Are you sleeping in the door, and like what are you?
- 23:28Speaker 7: What's your life like at that time? Is you doing this?
- 23:30Speaker 4: Now?
- 23:30Speaker 3: I had an apartment. I had to spot me and
- 23:32Speaker 3: my niggas. We had a little spot off campus. You know,
- 23:37Speaker 3: I'm staying off campus. I'm driving the class very day
- 23:41Speaker 3: and I had a nice little whip little Camaro at
- 23:43Speaker 3: the time with I miss my Camaro. But yeah, I
- 23:47Speaker 3: was I was djaying. That's another thing. I was djaying also,
- 23:50Speaker 3: So I'm balancing all this. I'm djaying. I'm having parties
- 23:53Speaker 3: every other weekend in college.
- 23:55Speaker 8: Yes, what's your major? Some bullshit you don't talk about.
- 24:00Speaker 8: I know I got graduated with that degree I got.
- 24:03Speaker 8: I got a bachelor's you know what I'm saying. And
- 24:05Speaker 8: I got a minor too, so you know, hey, so
- 24:10Speaker 8: it mattered.
- 24:12Speaker 7: I did it. I did it.
- 24:14Speaker 8: I did it, and I got a number one while
- 24:15Speaker 8: I did it.
- 24:17Speaker 6: Bags So can we talk about Beyonce? Can we cannot
- 24:20Speaker 6: talk about Beyonce?
- 24:21Speaker 7: That's a moment. I mean, let me talk about the moment. Yeahs.
- 24:27Speaker 3: At the time, it was just like unbelievable, you know,
- 24:30Speaker 3: I think the record had dropped when she.
- 24:33Speaker 8: Did so she put out she did the Coach Oller performance,
- 24:37Speaker 8: and then right after Coach she called it the Homecoming album.
- 24:40Speaker 8: And then at the end of Homecoming it was it
- 24:42Speaker 8: was like a documentary on Netflix that we watched and
- 24:45Speaker 8: that's the first time that the song played. And it
- 24:46Speaker 8: was when it was it though I can't remember. It
- 24:48Speaker 8: must have been in April of yo, you research that one.
- 24:52Speaker 8: For me, it's in April of maybe nineteen or eight,
- 24:56Speaker 8: somewhere around there.
- 24:56Speaker 3: I just remember a moment where the record came out
- 25:00Speaker 3: and it was I don't want I don't know if
- 25:02Speaker 3: it was fourth of July or what. But when I
- 25:05Speaker 3: went with my family, like went home, it was it
- 25:09Speaker 3: was what it was what April twenty eighteen, by the
- 25:11Speaker 3: fourth of July, I'm assuming that's when it was. When
- 25:14Speaker 3: I went with my family. They had knew the whole song.
- 25:18Speaker 3: It was crazy dance too. Yeah, and think about that. Yeah,
- 25:24Speaker 3: and it was the perfect moment. It was changed black music, right.
- 25:28Speaker 8: That plays every party, every barbecue, any gathering as black people,
- 25:34Speaker 8: that song's coming on. When you were making it, did
- 25:39Speaker 8: you understand like the ramifications of what you were doing.
- 25:42Speaker 5: It was a good sample too.
- 25:44Speaker 3: Yeah, I appreciate it was three samples. Actually it was
- 25:46Speaker 3: it was three samples in there. But I think with
- 25:50Speaker 3: that song, it kind of let me prove I guess,
- 25:54Speaker 3: like how versatile I was, you know. And I was
- 25:58Speaker 3: very satisfied with showing the world that because I feel
- 26:00Speaker 3: like I had got boxed in. I take keep making
- 26:03Speaker 3: the same type beats, you know what I'm saying that
- 26:05Speaker 3: the mythis shit or whatever people wanted to criticize me about.
- 26:09Speaker 3: But I felt like when it came to the Beyonce
- 26:12Speaker 3: song and producing it, it really got to like showcase
- 26:17Speaker 3: my true talent. That's what I feel like was the
- 26:20Speaker 3: most achievable moment for me in that situation.
- 26:25Speaker 6: Okay, so let's talk about the business side. So at
- 26:28Speaker 6: what point do you say, Okay, I'm making music, I'm
- 26:30Speaker 6: making money doing music.
- 26:33Speaker 5: I want to start investing in tech companies.
- 26:36Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 26:37Speaker 3: Uh, I think what it was is me just looking
- 26:41Speaker 3: at Let's take it back to like twenty sixteen, twenty seventeen.
- 26:46Speaker 3: I had about like half a bigcoin, okay, and it.
- 26:51Speaker 5: Was two point sixteen, said it was.
- 26:52Speaker 3: It was somewhere around there. I had about it, spent
- 26:55Speaker 3: some of it, you know what I'm saying.
- 26:57Speaker 7: It was.
- 26:58Speaker 3: I was just trying to you know, I guess learn it,
- 27:02Speaker 3: learn the market.
- 27:03Speaker 7: You know.
- 27:03Speaker 3: I had about like some ethereum like what you on
- 27:07Speaker 3: crypto nobody. I just was looking it up.
- 27:10Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 27:10Speaker 3: And this was like when I was like broke, but
- 27:13Speaker 3: I was I was making some type of money out
- 27:15Speaker 3: of me. I knew I had enough money to try
- 27:18Speaker 3: to invest in the crypto space, you know. So I
- 27:21Speaker 3: had a coin base account. In some way, somehow the
- 27:23Speaker 3: money got lost, you know, transferring it or they lost
- 27:27Speaker 3: the money whatever, and I had got completely discouraged, you know.
- 27:30Speaker 3: So you know, maybe like two years after that, I'm like,
- 27:34Speaker 3: you know, I got a little bag. Now, let me
- 27:36Speaker 3: try to start, you know, like putting some money in there.
- 27:42Speaker 3: I tried, you know, putting a couple a couple of
- 27:45Speaker 3: thousand here and there, you know, they went to me
- 27:49Speaker 3: getting into like early twenty one, me getting into the
- 27:57Speaker 3: the crypto space and also with the NFT too. So
- 28:00Speaker 3: when I got into NFTs, I had about I had
- 28:04Speaker 3: about uh a board eight well me and eate if
- 28:08Speaker 3: y'all for me with it, and they did like a drop.
- 28:14Speaker 3: It was some type of drop where they gave us
- 28:15Speaker 3: apecorn and it was like thirty or forty thousand dollars
- 28:21Speaker 3: at the heights.
- 28:21Speaker 7: I'm like, I really need to get into this.
- 28:24Speaker 3: I just made you know what I'm saying, the most
- 28:26Speaker 3: money I didn't, you know, online digitally.
- 28:28Speaker 7: Like.
- 28:29Speaker 3: So then that's when me and me and uh my
- 28:32Speaker 3: manager Camper and started talking more about on what we
- 28:36Speaker 3: should invest our money into. Like you know, at the time,
- 28:38Speaker 3: we had just did our uh what it is the
- 28:43Speaker 3: life insurance policy. We put some money up and it
- 28:46Speaker 3: sounds like he was watching releigion. Uh we put we
- 28:51Speaker 3: put some money up in and some stocks and you
- 28:55Speaker 3: know what I'm saying, like, uh eat what it is
- 28:57Speaker 3: ETFs And and I had bought my property. I had
- 29:01Speaker 3: about my first house cash and you know, I just
- 29:04Speaker 3: I wanted to know what else I can do get
- 29:07Speaker 3: some money in. So you know, we was like, let's
- 29:10Speaker 3: focus on for the next couple of months, let's focus
- 29:12Speaker 3: on trying to realize or figure out what we can
- 29:16Speaker 3: do with these investments and startups and private equity, you
- 29:20Speaker 3: know it.
- 29:21Speaker 8: Which makes sense as to where we first met. Yeah, yeah, yeah, exactly.
- 29:25Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 29:25Speaker 6: So so from there, did you start investing in companies
- 29:29Speaker 6: like yourself or did you start going to like people
- 29:32Speaker 6: like A sixteen and then let them invest for you.
- 29:36Speaker 3: Both We was doing a couple like I had. The
- 29:40Speaker 3: first company I had invested into was this company called
- 29:45Speaker 3: what was it earth Rise, you know, and it was
- 29:51Speaker 3: a list of learned you know what I'm saying, And
- 29:54Speaker 3: you know it was it was a good situation with
- 29:56Speaker 3: the beginning of it. But I learned to just kind
- 30:00Speaker 3: of like go more with I guess like companies who
- 30:03Speaker 3: backed by venture capitals, you know what I'm saying, Like
- 30:06Speaker 3: I'm realizing, like, all right, if this company can get
- 30:09Speaker 3: potential funding and all this and that that's better than
- 30:11Speaker 3: me trying to be a good friend and invest in
- 30:15Speaker 3: somebody ideal and you know what I'm saying, go from there.
- 30:18Speaker 3: It's business. At the end of the day, I ain't
- 30:19Speaker 3: wasting money. I ain't doing I ain't getting into this
- 30:21Speaker 3: shit to lose, you know. So that's when we got
- 30:25Speaker 3: introduced to everybody and Teresa. Yeah, we was like, all right,
- 30:32Speaker 3: what companies could we invest in to kind of get
- 30:34Speaker 3: our feet wet and learn more?
- 30:36Speaker 7: And then I did.
- 30:37Speaker 3: I had did sound x y Z, which is like
- 30:40Speaker 3: kind of similar to the NFT space that on me
- 30:43Speaker 3: and basically you put out a song as the NFT
- 30:45Speaker 3: and sell shares of and you can resell you know
- 30:48Speaker 3: what I'm saying. That was the first company that I
- 30:51Speaker 3: did with a VC. Then I ended up basically getting
- 30:59Speaker 3: into path Water, which is kind of like my favorite
- 31:02Speaker 3: right now. Pathwater basically is this company they sell alk
- 31:06Speaker 3: line water, you know, out of recyclle can and they
- 31:11Speaker 3: got it in our stores.
- 31:12Speaker 7: You know what I'm saying.
- 31:13Speaker 3: You probably go down the street, up the street or
- 31:14Speaker 3: some CVS or Wild Greens or some get some Kroger
- 31:19Speaker 3: you know y'all know Kroger, Yeah, wherever. But Pathwater was
- 31:23Speaker 3: one of the companies. I was like, all right, I'm
- 31:25Speaker 3: kind of getting in the groove or I'm feeling it more,
- 31:27Speaker 3: you know, I'm getting comfortable with it, like just to
- 31:30Speaker 3: be able to be invested in something like this.
- 31:34Speaker 8: So when you when you're looking to invest in a company, like,
- 31:37Speaker 8: what are some of the things that you're looking at
- 31:40Speaker 8: as like is it innovation or is it something that
- 31:43Speaker 8: like I can see that's changing changing the world, Like
- 31:45Speaker 8: what are you looking at the people?
- 31:47Speaker 7: First?
- 31:48Speaker 3: You know, who is a part of this company? You
- 31:52Speaker 3: know who who like I can build a good relationship
- 31:55Speaker 3: with within a company, you know. And on the top
- 31:58Speaker 3: I like to be hands on. I ain't trying to
- 32:01Speaker 3: just invest and then check back and you know, five
- 32:05Speaker 3: years and see what I made. I like to get
- 32:08Speaker 3: on calls, get on zooms, Let's figure out something use
- 32:11Speaker 3: my brand, take Keith, there's something we can do a collab,
- 32:14Speaker 3: you know what I'm saying. That's how I'm thinking, Like,
- 32:16Speaker 3: all right, let's put out some type of you know
- 32:20Speaker 3: product with the school system, with the in collapse with me.
- 32:24Speaker 3: You know, That's how I be thinking, like shit like this.
- 32:27Speaker 3: So when it comes to these brands and companies that
- 32:30Speaker 3: I'm invested in, I like to be hands on. I
- 32:32Speaker 3: like to learn what they got going, how I can
- 32:35Speaker 3: be a part of it, and how we can build.
- 32:38Speaker 6: So, like, did you have a mentor in the space
- 32:40Speaker 6: that was like when you first started that was educating
- 32:43Speaker 6: you or even who introduce you to a sixteen like
- 32:46Speaker 6: how'd you get their relationships or the knowledge to even know?
- 32:49Speaker 3: Well, it really was just me and me and Cambrian
- 32:51Speaker 3: just figuring out who we can get in contact with,
- 32:54Speaker 3: you know, and just trying to I guess, like meet people.
- 32:58Speaker 3: We met Derek and then who is we met that
- 33:01Speaker 3: Megan Megan, Meghan Derek, and they introduced us to other people,
- 33:06Speaker 3: you know, in addressing, and we just kind of like
- 33:09Speaker 3: went from there. So we just been learning from them
- 33:12Speaker 3: as we go. They know we hunger for it and
- 33:15Speaker 3: we probably like the only you know, young black dudes
- 33:19Speaker 3: in the music industry who are really serious about it
- 33:21Speaker 3: right now.
- 33:22Speaker 7: You know.
- 33:22Speaker 3: Everybody else kind of like, you know, getting to it
- 33:25Speaker 3: when they're a little bit older, were just trying to
- 33:27Speaker 3: get the hair start in it. You know.
- 33:30Speaker 8: It's interesting you said that because as you're talking, I'm thinking, like, Yo,
- 33:33Speaker 8: this is dope. Because we had a conversation with Timbaland,
- 33:35Speaker 8: obviously a legend in the game, especially in the world
- 33:38Speaker 8: of producing, and he was talking about some of these
- 33:40Speaker 8: states he's made because he didn't really have the education
- 33:43Speaker 8: and when I had you talk and shout out to
- 33:45Speaker 8: Turbo because I met were saying.
- 33:48Speaker 7: Like, yo, that's my bro.
- 33:49Speaker 8: And the way he was talking, I was like, yo, oh,
- 33:52Speaker 8: this generation is completely different, Like they're really serious about
- 33:55Speaker 8: it because they're getting the money. He also has a
- 33:58Speaker 8: diamond record and he was like, look, we know what
- 34:01Speaker 8: to do with the money. We're finding out what to
- 34:03Speaker 8: do with the money. We're not just wasting on anything.
- 34:05Speaker 8: So do you see that amongst other young producers coming up,
- 34:08Speaker 8: because I know y'all too have that connection exactly.
- 34:10Speaker 5: Yes.
- 34:11Speaker 3: I think when the young producers come up, they kind
- 34:13Speaker 3: of look up to like me, I'm from the you know,
- 34:17Speaker 3: the music side. But also when I get the talker
- 34:19Speaker 3: to him and they get to knowing how I am,
- 34:21Speaker 3: they get to looking at me like this nigga seriously
- 34:24Speaker 3: like he owned his business. So I like to put
- 34:27Speaker 3: him on game, you know, let him know, like, all right,
- 34:30Speaker 3: you get your bus as manager, make sure you pay taxes,
- 34:33Speaker 3: you need to do this, you need to do that.
- 34:35Speaker 7: You know what I'm saying.
- 34:36Speaker 3: If you, I would advise you sign here, don't sign there,
- 34:38Speaker 3: you know, like and so I always put the youngins
- 34:41Speaker 3: on game because like I'm twenty six. Now it's new
- 34:44Speaker 3: producers making hiss who sixteen you hear me, seventeen eighteen
- 34:49Speaker 3: you fear me?
- 34:50Speaker 7: So even my producer signing them same shit.
- 34:53Speaker 3: So I think now it's more about like me spreading
- 34:57Speaker 3: the information, like letting them know, like it's ways you
- 35:01Speaker 3: can invest his money rather you, you know, do it
- 35:04Speaker 3: this way or that way.
- 35:04Speaker 7: It's ways. You know, it's up to you. You know.
- 35:07Speaker 7: That's what I had to tell my producer.
- 35:09Speaker 3: Sometimes they listen, sometimes they don't, but I'm like, he yo,
- 35:12Speaker 3: You're gonna get this money in one way or another.
- 35:14Speaker 8: I want to talk about that because you said, like
- 35:17Speaker 8: your producers, yeah, and so at what point do you
- 35:19Speaker 8: decide to say, all right with let's create something where
- 35:21Speaker 8: I can actually sign the talent and help them develop
- 35:25Speaker 8: that sound.
- 35:27Speaker 3: I think it was when I was twenty. I'm like,
- 35:29Speaker 3: let me go on. They said it like that's like
- 35:32Speaker 3: a long time ago. Six years ago. I came up
- 35:36Speaker 3: with the idea like, you know, I need to build
- 35:40Speaker 3: my label, start my label. And you know, by the
- 35:43Speaker 3: time like a year after that, I was like, all right,
- 35:46Speaker 3: let me form my company, let me gone off, sign
- 35:49Speaker 3: the producer to start off, I signed the Narrow Loves.
- 35:52Speaker 3: I signed him, and then like maybe like six months
- 35:55Speaker 3: to a year later, he produces first hit with money
- 35:58Speaker 3: Bag Yo and make the stat the Stallion all that.
- 36:02Speaker 3: So that was all of him, like just me helping
- 36:05Speaker 3: them develop them, showing them what to do, what not
- 36:07Speaker 3: to do, work your moves, and me introducing him the
- 36:10Speaker 3: bag and him building his own relationship with him, you know,
- 36:13Speaker 3: and they just getting to that point.
- 36:16Speaker 6: Yeah, so you opened a studio, yeah, in Nashville, talk
- 36:21Speaker 6: about that.
- 36:23Speaker 3: So I got a good deal on the building. You know,
- 36:27Speaker 3: it was my first commercial property. I own five properties,
- 36:30Speaker 3: you know in total, but this was my first commercial property.
- 36:34Speaker 3: So it was a different type of experience, you know,
- 36:38Speaker 3: just like the interest rates on that and with the
- 36:41Speaker 3: down payment and all it. So I had basically found
- 36:44Speaker 3: the good build. I had a perfect real to you know,
- 36:47Speaker 3: commercial realtor, and she basically found the off market property
- 36:52Speaker 3: for me and I just when it went alone and
- 36:56Speaker 3: gone on get it, put like fifteen percent down, you know,
- 37:01Speaker 3: and put like a extra fifty thousand and renovating it
- 37:06Speaker 3: and it's almost done now it don't open yet, but
- 37:09Speaker 3: it's almost done.
- 37:09Speaker 7: We got one room done.
- 37:11Speaker 3: So we you know, it was just basically like time
- 37:15Speaker 3: for that their foundation, their space for me, you know,
- 37:18Speaker 3: Cam office. You know, we just had it their space
- 37:22Speaker 3: for our producers to come in town and we just
- 37:25Speaker 3: needed that, you know we I feel like you spend
- 37:28Speaker 3: one hundred thousand on jewelry. You spend you know what
- 37:31Speaker 3: I'm saying, two hundred res on cars and shit. You
- 37:33Speaker 3: go buy property, you go buy commercial you gotta just
- 37:37Speaker 3: buy cribs. You buy commercial properties your least money.
- 37:41Speaker 8: It comes with a lot of questions, how do I save?

- 40:27Speaker 1: An illegal alien from Guatemala charged with raping a child
- 40:31Speaker 1: in Massachusetts. An MS thirteen gang member from Al Salvador
- 40:35Speaker 1: accused of murdering a Texas. Man of Venezuelan charged with
- 40:39Speaker 1: filming and selling child pornography in Michigan. These are just
- 40:43Speaker 1: some of the heinous migrant criminals caught because of President
- 40:47Speaker 1: Donald J. Trump's leadership. I'm Christy nom the United States
- 40:50Speaker 1: Secretary of Homeland Security Under President Trump, attempted illegal border
- 40:55Speaker 1: crossings are at the lowest levels ever recorded, and over
- 40:59Speaker 1: one hundred thous and illegal aliens have been arrested. If
- 41:02Speaker 1: you were here illegally, your next you will be fine
- 41:06Speaker 1: nearly one thousand dollars a day, imprisoned and deported, you
- 41:10Speaker 1: will never return. But if you register using our CBP
- 41:14Speaker 1: home app and leave now, you could be allowed to
- 41:16Speaker 1: return legally. Do what's right. Leave now. Under President Trump,

- 41:27Speaker 7: So you can do is is rent them ount you
- 41:30Speaker 7: know what I'm saying.
- 41:32Speaker 6: So the idea is to rent it out to artists
- 41:37Speaker 6: and producers that's looking to, you know, make music. Obviously,
- 41:41Speaker 6: why Nashville not Memphis because Memphis is so hot right now?
- 41:45Speaker 5: Basic, I'm not sure.
- 41:47Speaker 6: I haven't heard of anybody that's come out of Nashville
- 41:49Speaker 6: since Young Buck.
- 41:52Speaker 5: No, no disrespect. Yeah, I just have heard of.
- 41:56Speaker 3: It, and I'm glad you asked me. So NASA is
- 41:59Speaker 3: known as music city. Why is it on this mississ
- 42:01Speaker 3: City because it's the home capital for country music and pop.
- 42:05Speaker 7: You know.
- 42:05Speaker 3: The thing is is, like you have all of these
- 42:08Speaker 3: big pop records and you know, big country artists blowing
- 42:12Speaker 3: up out of Tennessee. Right, Nashville, Tennessee. Why can't it
- 42:17Speaker 3: be first black hip hop own studio in the middle
- 42:21Speaker 3: of two. So I was like, all right, it's a
- 42:24Speaker 3: it's a it's a big fish, small pun all these
- 42:29Speaker 3: artists coming in town. I ain't just talking about no
- 42:31Speaker 3: rap records. I need pop.
- 42:34Speaker 5: Once said, not understand it now, it's not just hip hop.
- 42:37Speaker 7: It's music in general. And I didn't.
- 42:40Speaker 3: I didn't work plays with certain artists out there, and
- 42:43Speaker 3: you know, rub sodas with certain artists and got songs
- 42:45Speaker 3: cuts with certain country and pop artists. But as far
- 42:49Speaker 3: as like hip hop, like that's my niche. I'm a
- 42:54Speaker 3: black you know what I'm saying? Studio hip hop, hip
- 42:57Speaker 3: hop studio owner in Nashville, Tennessee.
- 43:00Speaker 8: Yeah, when you were looking for the well, let's not
- 43:03Speaker 8: I want to breeze over this. You said you have
- 43:04Speaker 8: five properties. So I want to congratulate you on that
- 43:07Speaker 8: because I don't want to just breeze over. But when
- 43:08Speaker 8: you're looking at for the property in Nashville, we were
- 43:11Speaker 8: in Nashville, we went to the New African American Museum,
- 43:13Speaker 8: which is incredible, and you know they got the stadium
- 43:16Speaker 8: right next to that, and it's potential development for the
- 43:19Speaker 8: new NFL Stadium.
- 43:20Speaker 5: For Black Black Music Museum, Black Music.
- 43:22Speaker 8: Mu Seum, and the new Titan Stadium is potentially where
- 43:25Speaker 8: you looking at all those things happening and saying, this
- 43:28Speaker 8: is where we need to see, let's find a development
- 43:31Speaker 8: property here.
- 43:32Speaker 3: Because when I first I got to I got to
- 43:34Speaker 3: like the Nashville area twenty fourteen, you know what I'm saying,
- 43:38Speaker 3: Like fresh out of high school with MT like this
- 43:41Speaker 3: in Mumpetsboro, it's like, you know, thirty thirty minutes away.
- 43:46Speaker 3: So when I was in like coming to Nashville, I
- 43:49Speaker 3: started seeing something like what's going on basically in Myths,
- 43:53Speaker 3: which is gentrification. You started seeing them build the houses
- 43:57Speaker 3: in the hood where it was the projects they turned down,
- 43:59Speaker 3: the project still there. You know what I'm saying, properties
- 44:02Speaker 3: and all type of shit. So you know, six five
- 44:06Speaker 3: six years ago pass I'm come to Nashville, give me
- 44:09Speaker 3: a spot downtown, you know, rent a spot, and I'm like, shit,
- 44:13Speaker 3: I'm paying five thousand a month this shit, and I'm
- 44:16Speaker 3: looking around the whole hood gone.
- 44:19Speaker 7: All the hoods in Nashville gone.
- 44:21Speaker 3: They only got a couple of projects little and they
- 44:23Speaker 3: done bought everything and redeveloped it. So I'm like, all right,
- 44:29Speaker 3: where the people like me who got the opportunity to
- 44:33Speaker 3: do this?
- 44:33Speaker 7: How can I be a part of this?
- 44:35Speaker 3: And you know by back the block like me understanding,
- 44:39Speaker 3: like all right, I got God bless me with this,
- 44:42Speaker 3: Let me do right with it.
- 44:43Speaker 7: Let me invest and be a service to this shit.
- 44:48Speaker 3: You know what I'm saying, me put in the studio
- 44:50Speaker 3: and in Nashville one of the you know, the most
- 44:54Speaker 3: like I guess, like what you would call it, like
- 45:00Speaker 3: country music, pop music, dominant cities and putting rap in there,
- 45:04Speaker 3: you know what I'm saying. But it don't get me wrong,
- 45:07Speaker 3: it gets black studios in Nashville's with you know.
- 45:11Speaker 7: Artists or whatever.
- 45:12Speaker 3: But just me buying a property was different in the city,
- 45:15Speaker 3: you know what I'm saying, Like that was major. So
- 45:19Speaker 3: on top of that, like, let me touch on Mephis too.
- 45:22Speaker 3: So while I'm on the topic, the first property that
- 45:26Speaker 3: I bought in Memphis was in the area where I
- 45:28Speaker 3: started seeing it Gentrify teen, maybe like ten years ago,
- 45:34Speaker 3: when I was in high school. It's this area like
- 45:36Speaker 3: our saun coop over there by Overton Park in Memphis.
- 45:40Speaker 3: Like it's like kind of about being Hampton. That's where
- 45:43Speaker 3: my mom and daddy from. So all that's hood. It's
- 45:46Speaker 3: nothing but hood. But it's like if you come like
- 45:49Speaker 3: ten blocks up, it gets like super nice, like super prestige,
- 45:54Speaker 3: like you know what I'm saying, kind of like the
- 45:57Speaker 3: almost midtown area. So they start to find the hood
- 46:01Speaker 3: like building different property. So I seen a property on
- 46:04Speaker 3: the other side of Summer Avenue, which is like the hood.
- 46:08Speaker 7: You got like straight hood on this side.
- 46:11Speaker 3: I'm like, you know, I talked to my real to
- 46:14Speaker 3: Shannon she you know, my Memphis real to shes like
- 46:17Speaker 3: she she she said, a property, it's like forty thousand,
- 46:20Speaker 3: you're gonna buy it right now cash. It's a what
- 46:22Speaker 3: you call it a turnlock turn turnkey, Like it's a turnkey.
- 46:26Speaker 3: You just buy it and changed the locks on it.
- 46:28Speaker 3: I'm like, shit, where is it turn key? I bought
- 46:32Speaker 3: that property and then like a year later, two years
- 46:37Speaker 3: later when I came back, the house was worth one
- 46:42Speaker 3: hundred thousand. So when from forty two thousand, I thought
- 46:47Speaker 3: a cash to one hundred thousand you know what I'm saying,
- 46:51Speaker 3: like that quick, So what I did, I started, I
- 46:55Speaker 3: got I got a rental management company, so I'm hands free,
- 46:59Speaker 3: pay them ten percent.
- 47:00Speaker 7: They running.
- 47:01Speaker 3: You know what I'm saying, Whatever need to be done
- 47:03Speaker 3: in the house, they change it, they build me. You
- 47:05Speaker 3: know what I'm saying that they just take tempercent out
- 47:08Speaker 3: of the commission and I get a check from there
- 47:11Speaker 3: and I'm just.
- 47:11Speaker 7: Letting it build up and up and up.
- 47:13Speaker 3: But that basically ties back to me buying a property
- 47:16Speaker 3: in Nashville where it's like I'm on the end of
- 47:20Speaker 3: the stick when it came to like the gentrification. But
- 47:25Speaker 3: it also was a good deal because when I bought
- 47:27Speaker 3: the property and they got a praise, it was already
- 47:30Speaker 3: like twenty five thousand more than what I purchased it for,
- 47:34Speaker 3: so I already had equity in the property. The wind
- 47:36Speaker 3: was built. The huh, the wind was built. It was
- 47:38Speaker 3: already built then, yeah, so and it's a fairly new property.
- 47:42Speaker 3: It was built in twenty twenty, So you know, that
- 47:45Speaker 3: was like a cool investment for me.
- 47:48Speaker 8: When you're investing, is there a certain level or do
- 47:51Speaker 8: you have like an allocation?
- 47:52Speaker 7: I'm saying, like this is the money I made.
- 47:54Speaker 8: This is how much I'm investing or is it just
- 47:56Speaker 8: like this is a good deal, we can afford it.
- 47:59Speaker 7: I'm gonna do it.
- 48:00Speaker 3: This is what I do cause I mean when one
- 48:02Speaker 3: thing you would learn about the wrap game when it
- 48:05Speaker 3: comes to getting money, that shit up and down and fluctuate.
- 48:09Speaker 3: You might get this amount this quarter, you might get
- 48:11Speaker 3: that amount the quarter. If you got it then, and
- 48:13Speaker 3: if it's an investment, gone on do it. Because I
- 48:16Speaker 3: just seen me turn forty thousand to one hundred thousand
- 48:21Speaker 3: in like a year or two. So I'm gonna take
- 48:24Speaker 3: my money now and put it somewhere else where. You
- 48:26Speaker 3: basically looking at it like you putting it in at
- 48:28Speaker 3: a bank account that's gonna make you two times, you
- 48:32Speaker 3: know what I'm saying, what you was gonna ten times
- 48:34Speaker 3: what you was gonna make and keeping it in you
- 48:36Speaker 3: know what I'm saying, just a regular bank account. So
- 48:40Speaker 3: I always looked at it like that, like if I
- 48:42Speaker 3: got the money, I got the liquid funds to gone
- 48:44Speaker 3: on invest in something, why not gone on do it?
- 48:48Speaker 6: So did you always have like this business mindset, because
- 48:52Speaker 6: like you're involved in tech real estate, so you are
- 48:54Speaker 6: as crypto like growing up. What made you like say
- 48:59Speaker 6: like I'm I want to be in the business.
- 49:02Speaker 3: I think it was just like my mama, Like she
- 49:04Speaker 3: was a hustler. She did her She always like hustled.
- 49:07Speaker 3: My daddy he you know when he got out of prison,
- 49:09Speaker 3: and he was a hustler. Like my dadd only worked
- 49:12Speaker 3: one job we were at that taco bill when it
- 49:14Speaker 3: was like fifteen. So he been a hustler his whole life.
- 49:17Speaker 3: So my seen my parents like even through the stroggles
- 49:20Speaker 3: like still make away.
- 49:21Speaker 7: You know.
- 49:22Speaker 3: It's just like when when I got older, when it
- 49:25Speaker 3: came to my mom, like her having her issues and
- 49:28Speaker 3: me having to deal with it. I had to learn
- 49:30Speaker 3: to be a man much younger, you know. So I'm
- 49:35Speaker 3: sixteen now trying to figure out how I'm buy my
- 49:38Speaker 3: own clothes for school and also like make sure I
- 49:42Speaker 3: give my mama some money too, you know what I'm saying.
- 49:45Speaker 3: So having that mindset, like at sixteen, all right, I
- 49:48Speaker 3: could see a beat. I can say this before one
- 49:50Speaker 3: hundred fet of dollars two hundred dollars hurt this much.
- 49:53Speaker 3: You know, I got enough money where I basically can
- 49:55Speaker 3: make a decent amount to get my clothes.
- 49:58Speaker 7: My drill for school.
- 49:59Speaker 3: Give mo do some money. You know what I'm saying,
- 50:01Speaker 3: pay my phone bill. Like, so I'm having this business.
- 50:05Speaker 3: Oriit to mindset. So by the time I get to college,
- 50:09Speaker 3: I'm like, all right, I know I'm not moving back home.
- 50:12Speaker 3: I know this old I can't really move back home.
- 50:15Speaker 3: So let me gone on, get an apartment. I ain't
- 50:18Speaker 3: got no car.
- 50:18Speaker 7: What I gotta do.
- 50:19Speaker 3: I gotta get an apartment across the street from a shopping
- 50:21Speaker 3: center where I can get a job at the Walmart,
- 50:24Speaker 3: hippie sports. You know what I'm saying, dollar Tree, one
- 50:26Speaker 3: of these spots gonna hire me. So I got the apartment,
- 50:29Speaker 3: I coacht. I took over somebody Lease and this was
- 50:33Speaker 3: like after this was my first year after in college,
- 50:37Speaker 3: so this was my sophomore year. Going into my sophomore year.
- 50:40Speaker 3: I took over somebody Lease and I worked the whole summer.
- 50:43Speaker 3: But in the mindset, like I was in the mindset
- 50:45Speaker 3: of all right, I'm making one hundred fifty dollars a week,
- 50:50Speaker 3: you know, in my job, two hundred dollars whatever it was,
- 50:53Speaker 3: I'm getting paid there in two weeks. On top of that,
- 50:56Speaker 3: I'm selling beats here and there. It's inconsistent. You know,
- 50:59Speaker 3: so what you said at least what at the time,
- 51:01Speaker 3: it don't I don't even I probably whatever whoever the
- 51:04Speaker 3: fuck you had ten dollars I was selling you that motherfucker.
- 51:08Speaker 7: It was whatever the fucking on them. Man.
- 51:10Speaker 3: You know, I'm telling you, whatever you had, it would
- 51:12Speaker 3: get So I was trying to get it soul. But
- 51:17Speaker 3: you know you got to think at the time I'm
- 51:18Speaker 3: trying to I'm trying to basically, uh, save up to
- 51:22Speaker 3: get a car, pay my rent, you know, send my
- 51:24Speaker 3: mama money. Keep you know what I'm saying, keep keep
- 51:28Speaker 3: my drip up if you like, I'm throw So that
- 51:31Speaker 3: basically taught me, at eighteen how to hustle, how to
- 51:35Speaker 3: get my money, how to maintain and be on your own.
- 51:38Speaker 3: So I have done by then, And by that time
- 51:41Speaker 3: I had done probably like what most of my perers
- 51:43Speaker 3: haven't even thought of doing. I was eighteen, you know
- 51:46Speaker 3: what I'm saying. In my life, sit by by the
- 51:50Speaker 3: second by the semester started the second year, I had
- 51:53Speaker 3: enough to buy my car.
- 51:55Speaker 7: My uncle, it was my daddy brother.
- 51:57Speaker 3: He told me if I had enough, if I made
- 52:00Speaker 3: enough money to buy a car, he will go half.
- 52:03Speaker 3: So my uncle gave me half on the car. Like
- 52:06Speaker 3: he gave me like it was like the call, like
- 52:08Speaker 3: eighteen hundred. He gave me nine hundred dollars. So that
- 52:10Speaker 3: was a plus for me because I had saved up
- 52:12Speaker 3: the whole money to buy the car. He told me,
- 52:14Speaker 3: if I saved it up, you know, he gonna make
- 52:16Speaker 3: sure straight. So I did there, paid on my rint,
- 52:19Speaker 3: got my refund check, you know, and just made it
- 52:23Speaker 3: do what to do. But that I basically broke it
- 52:25Speaker 3: down to show y'all how I maintained and learned to
- 52:29Speaker 3: be more business oriented when it came to just being independent,
- 52:34Speaker 3: you know what I'm saying.
- 52:35Speaker 8: Yeah, I mean you created a system for yourself because
- 52:38Speaker 8: of it was a knee basis, which is now helped
- 52:41Speaker 8: you with the structure of Now obviously that you you've
- 52:43Speaker 8: taken more income, you still have those disciplines that you
- 52:46Speaker 8: can continue doing. I wonder this though, right, this is
- 52:50Speaker 8: kind of like a music but it's a business question
- 52:52Speaker 8: as well. You had successful hits obviously, Diamond records, number
- 52:55Speaker 8: one records, but you also are now creating a business
- 53:01Speaker 8: where your producers are having hit records. So which one's
- 53:04Speaker 8: more gratifying, right? So like you I give you like, yeah,
- 53:07Speaker 8: Jimmy Crooks number one record, it's been for you, top
- 53:11Speaker 8: five record, not yours but your producers. Yeah, which is
- 53:14Speaker 8: a business. So what I mean, is it a different
- 53:17Speaker 8: feeling or is it equally as gratifying.
- 53:19Speaker 3: Now it's a better feeling because it's like I said,
- 53:23Speaker 3: then let me know, like if I've done it with me,
- 53:27Speaker 3: that's the chances was slammed Anne, then I made you
- 53:32Speaker 3: know what I'm saying, another person another help another person
- 53:35Speaker 3: get to that level, like it like hearing a lot
- 53:37Speaker 3: of it twice you seeing it happen, the moment happened again,
- 53:40Speaker 3: Like you don't get to see that even with the
- 53:43Speaker 3: narrow seeing it happened, then you know it was it
- 53:46Speaker 3: then hit me till later like I did it multiple
- 53:49Speaker 3: times with multiple producers, even DJ Meetch, like producing rumors
- 53:53Speaker 3: for him with Gucci and Little Dirt and that being
- 53:56Speaker 3: a big record going go and just seeing my homie
- 53:58Speaker 3: who I came up with life change and we made
- 54:02Speaker 3: this beat together in the living room, and just seeing
- 54:05Speaker 3: it like that's the moments that I care about. Like
- 54:08Speaker 3: it's different than you want to see your team, you
- 54:10Speaker 3: want to see your home boys and your niggas eat,
- 54:13Speaker 3: but they gotta work for it too. They gotta understand
- 54:16Speaker 3: this principle behind things. You ain't finna be no fucking
- 54:19Speaker 3: leech you you not. You're not depending on another man,
- 54:23Speaker 3: especially a man who made it. And you know for
- 54:26Speaker 3: a fact you had more than him, you know. So
- 54:30Speaker 3: the thing about my circle, they know what struggle I
- 54:33Speaker 3: came from and how it overcame it, and that pushed
- 54:36Speaker 3: them and motivate them enough to be like, nah, I
- 54:38Speaker 3: can't bullshit. They did this he and have half the
- 54:41Speaker 3: resources I had, you know what I'm saying.
- 54:44Speaker 6: So let's talk about music. Going back to the music.
- 54:50Speaker 6: You have legendary tagline. You stop using the tagline?
- 54:55Speaker 7: Yeah?
- 54:56Speaker 5: Why what's your process in doing that?
- 54:59Speaker 7: So?
- 54:59Speaker 3: I mean still use it, I just certain certain songs
- 55:03Speaker 3: I choose not to because I didn't want to burn
- 55:06Speaker 3: it up. I wanted to be where if somebody listening
- 55:09Speaker 3: to my my beats, they can recognize it or have
- 55:14Speaker 3: the thought of damn, this kind of sounded like to
- 55:16Speaker 3: take he beat and then look it up and it is.
- 55:19Speaker 3: It becomes more nostalgic, It becomes more of a respect thing.
- 55:22Speaker 3: It becomes more of an appreciation of the art, you know,
- 55:27Speaker 3: instead of hearing the tag like oh yeah, we know
- 55:28Speaker 3: it's gonna be take he yah, yeah, yeah yeah.
- 55:31Speaker 7: In two weeks, they probably ain't listening to it no more.
- 55:34Speaker 3: But since it was more of a nostalgic mama for
- 55:36Speaker 3: them finding out, like damn he did produce this, I
- 55:39Speaker 3: knew I was right.
- 55:40Speaker 7: Well, I knew, I heard. I knew. I figured they
- 55:42Speaker 7: would take Keith beat like who becomes a first.
- 55:46Speaker 5: Start using it?
- 55:46Speaker 6: Because I mean that wasn't always like Timberland never had
- 55:50Speaker 6: a tagline, Swiss never really had a tagline, especially at
- 55:54Speaker 6: the beginning stages.
- 55:55Speaker 5: He would talk on the beat so you were hear him.
- 55:56Speaker 7: But I think that's what it was the.
- 55:58Speaker 6: First because a rotant to have a tagline, right, these
- 56:02Speaker 6: are all super producers in the two thousands, But who's
- 56:05Speaker 6: the first producer, because then everybody started having tagline?
- 56:09Speaker 5: You know.
- 56:10Speaker 8: Yeah, I have to think about it, but I think
- 56:14Speaker 8: what he what you just asked, is what he's trying
- 56:16Speaker 8: to not do, right, because like when you hear Timberlands drums,
- 56:19Speaker 8: you know Timberland.
- 56:20Speaker 6: No no, no. But it's interesting if anybody can look
- 56:24Speaker 6: that up.
- 56:24Speaker 7: The first half I just know there's some great ones.
- 56:29Speaker 5: Everybody started doing it.
- 56:31Speaker 7: How about for your generation, Mustard.
- 56:38Speaker 3: Must have had one, you had to Yeah, well, the
- 56:43Speaker 3: first producers in my generation probably was like the lax Luga,
- 56:49Speaker 3: uh south Side Away Mafia era, you know, like young
- 56:56Speaker 3: Child it was.
- 56:57Speaker 7: It was it was DJ Spin.
- 56:59Speaker 6: While you just throw away Muster like must not He's
- 57:03Speaker 6: he's from that from the era, right.
- 57:05Speaker 7: He a little bit older than you? Right?
- 57:06Speaker 3: Well, I was. I was, Yeah, I mean I was.
- 57:09Speaker 3: I would say Mustard came in and run the era too,
- 57:12Speaker 3: you know. That was that was like, yeah, so muster
- 57:14Speaker 3: can include Mustard, but I was thinking like the so
- 57:18Speaker 3: Muster when must Sound came, it was like also tags
- 57:21Speaker 3: was was already kind of like already when these producers
- 57:25Speaker 3: were coming up. It was like the mixtape era. This
- 57:27Speaker 3: was like you hearing this ship with DJ Drops too.
- 57:31Speaker 5: Is it drama? Well, drama is not really a.
- 57:34Speaker 3: So cannon can drama boy from that.
- 57:42Speaker 5: With them yesterday.
- 57:42Speaker 3: That's our guy, druma boy, real legend and he you know,
- 57:46Speaker 3: I look up the drumming Boy because he he was
- 57:49Speaker 3: He basically did what I did fifteen years before me.
- 57:52Speaker 7: You got something cool? I think that.
- 57:59Speaker 6: No that's that's that's a good one that I don't
- 58:03Speaker 6: think Red Alert is a producer.
- 58:05Speaker 8: He produced, He produced the Buggy Down Productions for sure
- 58:09Speaker 8: clear Yeah, and then it changed to the sound and
- 58:14Speaker 8: then it came back.
- 58:15Speaker 7: I think it was.
- 58:16Speaker 3: It was probably like just Blaze, one of the Blade,
- 58:19Speaker 3: one of the.
- 58:20Speaker 8: Earlier Yeah, just Blaze definitely just had the joint, but
- 58:25Speaker 8: Kanye had the sound then David Banner David Yeah.
- 58:30Speaker 3: So you know, tags had needed beats. You know, it
- 58:33Speaker 3: had been around, but as far as like the you know,
- 58:37Speaker 3: trap trap is fairly new trap music and like the
- 58:41Speaker 3: the eight O Waight Knocks and ship like that, that's
- 58:43Speaker 3: kind of a newer thing. So when when they came
- 58:46Speaker 3: like got introduced, I feel like the tag just like
- 58:50Speaker 3: took over.
- 58:52Speaker 8: Everybody has it now, just please?
- 58:54Speaker 6: That was That's a good call. Yeah, no, no, yeah,
- 59:02Speaker 6: that's a good one. Who's your top five producers?
- 59:05Speaker 3: H I couldn't even tell your top five. I just
- 59:10Speaker 3: would say producers who before this one. I'm gonna I'm
- 59:14Speaker 3: gonna answer producers before me and before my generation? Who
- 59:19Speaker 3: inspired me? Trum a Boy, DJ Squeaky Trembling for real, uh,
- 59:32Speaker 3: under Rare, under Rare, mention I got a name like
- 59:38Speaker 3: more than five though, but uh damn who was.
- 59:45Speaker 7: Yeah, yeah, I can say I can say, you know,
- 59:47Speaker 7: I can say yeah for sure.
- 59:52Speaker 3: It's so many though, but yeah, I got influenced by
- 59:55Speaker 3: a lot of a lot of producers, especially in Memphis too,
- 59:58Speaker 3: Like it's so many producers. We had like moments like
- 1:00:02Speaker 3: like like I said DJ Squeaky Drummer boyd MiB track Boy,
- 1:00:04Speaker 3: like I always say, they like niggas, know, like they
- 1:00:07Speaker 3: definitely had an influence.
- 1:00:08Speaker 7: And just what's going on right now? Like how did
- 1:00:11Speaker 7: you settle on that tag? Though?
- 1:00:12Speaker 8: Right, because that's the first one that I'm like, wait,
- 1:00:14Speaker 8: did it just curse on that? Like I think my
- 1:00:17Speaker 8: son just said that.
- 1:00:19Speaker 7: How I settle on it? Yeah? Like how did you
- 1:00:21Speaker 7: settle on keep?
- 1:00:24Speaker 3: I had ran through like three tags I readly, Like
- 1:00:27Speaker 3: my first tag was take you produced it.
- 1:00:28Speaker 7: That's how everybody in the city knew me. Take he
- 1:00:31Speaker 7: produced it? Like I had two versis of it.
- 1:00:33Speaker 3: I had one version that I did like some text
- 1:00:36Speaker 3: to speech ship, you know, like the I was on
- 1:00:38Speaker 3: that Ai way TikTok. I was on that ship fifteen
- 1:00:43Speaker 3: years ago. So I had I had I had basically
- 1:00:47Speaker 3: did this ship like and like high school, like the
- 1:00:52Speaker 3: the uh text to speech and type in take he
- 1:00:56Speaker 3: produced it. It was like a robot British woman saying it.
- 1:01:00Speaker 3: I just added some of fix to it, and I
- 1:01:03Speaker 3: went from from that point on using it, and they
- 1:01:05Speaker 3: just built a little wave. And then my sister Re said,
- 1:01:08Speaker 3: Re said the tag in like twenty twelve, twenty thirteen,
- 1:01:12Speaker 3: like a couple of years after I started using the
- 1:01:13Speaker 3: first one.
- 1:01:14Speaker 7: So I started using that one.
- 1:01:15Speaker 3: And then when I got to college, I'm like, no,
- 1:01:19Speaker 3: I'm djaying and shit, man, that tag don't sound right
- 1:01:22Speaker 3: if I'm d jaying and prinsing it.
- 1:01:24Speaker 7: I'm like, I need a new tag.
- 1:01:26Speaker 3: I was very focused on getting a new tag, so
- 1:01:29Speaker 3: I tweeted that I needed a new one. Little Juice
- 1:01:33Speaker 3: take Beasy, whatever y'all want to call him. He stayed
- 1:01:36Speaker 3: probably like an hour away from he had hit me up.
- 1:01:39Speaker 3: It was like, bro, you fuck with me up some beats,
- 1:01:41Speaker 3: I do a tag for you. I'm like, here, yeah, like,
- 1:01:43Speaker 3: shuld send me some tags. He sent me like three
- 1:01:46Speaker 3: or four options up to take. He fucked these niggas up.
- 1:01:50Speaker 3: I'm like, which wouldn't sound better? I just added, like
- 1:01:53Speaker 3: some reverb to it, Uh, delayed to it. I'm like
- 1:01:56Speaker 3: this the one, and I sent them some beats. We
- 1:02:00Speaker 3: just kept in contact then ship probably like six months
- 1:02:04Speaker 3: later when I put it on Shoot. That's when I
- 1:02:07Speaker 3: realized I need to keep using it. When people see
- 1:02:11Speaker 3: you like, that's the first thing they say.
- 1:02:13Speaker 6: They say that, that's the first thing I said.
- 1:02:15Speaker 5: When when I'm at him, what I say, I.
- 1:02:17Speaker 8: Was like, Yo, I'm like, ships, did you trademark that?
- 1:02:24Speaker 5: Yeah?
- 1:02:25Speaker 7: I did. That's that's the first thing I have.
- 1:02:27Speaker 8: That be the business part that people they do these
- 1:02:29Speaker 8: things like Pedro once like we got a trademark that
- 1:02:33Speaker 8: so nobody else can use it.
- 1:02:35Speaker 7: You did that right away?
- 1:02:36Speaker 5: Yeah, that's important. Trademark your name extremely important.
- 1:02:41Speaker 6: And you got to see if your name is already
- 1:02:42Speaker 6: being used, because that's the worst you're using it.
- 1:02:44Speaker 5: Six months later you're getting sued.
- 1:02:46Speaker 7: But now I'm thinking about trademark.
- 1:02:48Speaker 8: When you saw the shoot go crazy so in Fortnite,
- 1:02:55Speaker 8: how that makes you feel right because you're seeing somebody
- 1:02:57Speaker 8: take advantage of something that y'are pretty much create it.
- 1:03:00Speaker 3: Yeah, and weren't compensated. I mean, honestly, it never really
- 1:03:05Speaker 3: affected me. I didn't really give a fuck. I mean
- 1:03:08Speaker 3: when it came to Block, I know, Block was pressed
- 1:03:10Speaker 3: about it because he the one who created the dance,
- 1:03:12Speaker 3: you know, but of course, like that's that's the industry
- 1:03:16Speaker 3: we live in. It's full of vultures and copycats, you know,
- 1:03:19Speaker 3: in its situation, it could be somebody again, you know
- 1:03:23Speaker 3: what I'm saying, like copy resembled or whatever. It's a
- 1:03:28Speaker 3: part of it. So I never really got a thing.
- 1:03:30Speaker 3: I thought it was cool actually fortnite using it, But
- 1:03:34Speaker 3: when I realized like what they had to pay for
- 1:03:36Speaker 3: that shit or something, I'm like, well, but like you
- 1:03:38Speaker 3: might need to gone on and see.
- 1:03:44Speaker 7: All the law is bro.
- 1:03:46Speaker 5: How was fashion Week in Paris?
- 1:03:48Speaker 7: No, that was lit.
- 1:03:49Speaker 3: I ain't gonna lie that. That was an eye opener
- 1:03:51Speaker 3: for me. That's why I really just got see it.
- 1:03:53Speaker 3: When I got back, I was like, you know what,
- 1:03:55Speaker 3: I'm gonna get serious about this fashion shit.
- 1:03:58Speaker 7: But it was differently. I open a DJ and.
- 1:04:00Speaker 3: I had a party at DJ I was they had
- 1:04:04Speaker 3: me see it front rolling a lot of shows, and
- 1:04:08Speaker 3: you know, I just really got to experience a different culture,
- 1:04:13Speaker 3: a different industry, and me just using like my lyrics
- 1:04:17Speaker 3: from the music to be able to have a. I
- 1:04:21Speaker 3: guess a face in that shit was you know what
- 1:04:24Speaker 3: I'm saying, wonderful for me?
- 1:04:26Speaker 6: What was some of the things that you said was
- 1:04:27Speaker 6: over and what was some of the things that like
- 1:04:29Speaker 6: really changed your view and really made you want to
- 1:04:31Speaker 6: hone in on passion after leaving it, I.
- 1:04:35Speaker 3: Think what the first thing was seeing how how smaller
- 1:04:41Speaker 3: community the.
- 1:04:44Speaker 7: Rap game was there. But who it was that that
- 1:04:47Speaker 7: was there.
- 1:04:47Speaker 5: Kodak was walking in.
- 1:04:49Speaker 3: Kodak, It was a baby, it was it was Polo g,
- 1:04:55Speaker 3: it was Rody, it was a couple of other people
- 1:04:59Speaker 3: like uh me, So it wasn't it wasn't too many
- 1:05:03Speaker 3: people there. And I'm like, these is some heavy hit us,
- 1:05:06Speaker 3: but they trying to cross over in that ship just
- 1:05:08Speaker 3: like I am. So they work in their moves just
- 1:05:11Speaker 3: like I was, like, you know, we over here for
- 1:05:14Speaker 3: a reason. So just seeing it and just seeing how
- 1:05:17Speaker 3: it was, like all the events, just meeting all the
- 1:05:20Speaker 3: people you know, like GQ had that been they invited
- 1:05:23Speaker 3: us to and just like me going to just seeing
- 1:05:28Speaker 3: the show with with kids, super and he did that
- 1:05:33Speaker 3: like it was a comedy skit fashion show and Tyra
- 1:05:38Speaker 3: Banks hosted it just to see.
- 1:05:40Speaker 7: Her and just like you know, it was just like
- 1:05:43Speaker 7: just see that. Yeah. Evano was part of that from Insecure. Yeah.
- 1:05:48Speaker 3: Yeah, so it was just like, damn, let me get
- 1:05:51Speaker 3: more get serious next Sure, I'm gonna have have me
- 1:05:54Speaker 3: some collapse or something in the show.
- 1:05:56Speaker 5: So you make you want to make close.
- 1:05:58Speaker 3: Yeah, I did collapse. I did co apps merch like
- 1:06:01Speaker 3: I did the merch with McDonald's. Yeah, I saw that
- 1:06:04Speaker 3: for the like they super Bowl commercial. Yeah, they introduced
- 1:06:08Speaker 3: the mc chicken sandwiches, the new Chicken sounds.
- 1:06:11Speaker 7: Yeah. So I did the score forward and we did
- 1:06:15Speaker 7: a merch drop take keith Man.
- 1:06:19Speaker 8: Yeah, now, I know education is obviously something that you
- 1:06:22Speaker 8: took very seriously, so I want to talk about giving back.
- 1:06:25Speaker 7: Man.
- 1:06:25Speaker 8: You're creating an internship program for Middle Tennessee State.
- 1:06:29Speaker 3: Yeah, we're doing it right now. We actually got one
- 1:06:30Speaker 3: intern solidified. You're working on a couple other with other
- 1:06:36Speaker 3: schools to Vanderbilt, MTSU Vanderbilt and we try and bail
- 1:06:41Speaker 3: my too. So all of them got good programs for
- 1:06:43Speaker 3: the record industry. So we're starting there. We're gonna work
- 1:06:48Speaker 3: our way into mephis. You know, just like if it's
- 1:06:52Speaker 3: if it's not us having intern for the semester we
- 1:06:56Speaker 3: can have for summer intern and have him come up
- 1:06:59Speaker 3: there and staying. You know, we're provide housing for them
- 1:07:01Speaker 3: for the summer. You get created, you know what I'm saying,
- 1:07:04Speaker 3: Just to have that connection with the city. Since we
- 1:07:06Speaker 3: years in nash Via, you.
- 1:07:09Speaker 6: Man, you got a lot you allow on your plate. Man,
- 1:07:11Speaker 6: looking forward, let's say, you know, five ten years, do
- 1:07:15Speaker 6: you see yourself more passionate about music or business?
- 1:07:19Speaker 3: More passionate about both, you know, of course, like I
- 1:07:23Speaker 3: want to. I think what my mindset now is being
- 1:07:26Speaker 3: more passionate about the business because I'm freshen their water.
- 1:07:30Speaker 3: Like I'm still learning the business. As I'm going I'm
- 1:07:33Speaker 3: twenty six. By the time I'm thirty, I need to
- 1:07:36Speaker 3: have made a substantial amount of money off business. Now
- 1:07:39Speaker 3: I'm just like basically taking als and you know, smaller,
- 1:07:43Speaker 3: smaller profits off things now because I'm learning and it's cool.
- 1:07:48Speaker 3: So just say, like I got to put my ten
- 1:07:50Speaker 3: thousand hours in it. I did that with the music.
- 1:07:53Speaker 3: So now I'm just at a point now with music.
- 1:07:56Speaker 3: All right, if I'm related to business, Let's continue to
- 1:08:00Speaker 3: sign successful producers. Let's continue to Let's let's break an
- 1:08:04Speaker 3: artist I haven't achieved it. I haven't broke artists that
- 1:08:07Speaker 3: signed to me. I broke several artists producing form, but
- 1:08:11Speaker 3: me signing the artists and breaking him is something that
- 1:08:14Speaker 3: I gotta achieve, you know, So me trying to you know,
- 1:08:19Speaker 3: it's been it's been obstacles. I ain't you know, just
- 1:08:22Speaker 3: I'm still learning as I'm going. So I guess that's
- 1:08:26Speaker 3: kind of like both me saying music and business, you know,
- 1:08:30Speaker 3: on top of what I'm doing, like in the in
- 1:08:33Speaker 3: the VC space. And she's see how my stocks turned
- 1:08:37Speaker 3: out in the five ten, I need them to double
- 1:08:40Speaker 3: or some long term hold.
- 1:08:43Speaker 6: Yeah, it's tough times right now for stock in a rebound.
- 1:08:47Speaker 7: Three has been pretty good. That's fun.
- 1:08:49Speaker 5: Yeah, as far it's last year.
- 1:08:52Speaker 8: Last year was a tough time, but you got to
- 1:08:53Speaker 8: go through tough times to learn from them, right exactly
- 1:08:56Speaker 8: now twenty six the list of clients tell that you
- 1:09:00Speaker 8: have on the portfolio impressive.
- 1:09:02Speaker 7: Obviously we wentally the Queen Great twenty one.
- 1:09:06Speaker 8: Who's somebody that you you haven't worked with it yet.
- 1:09:10Speaker 7: That you would you would really love to. So I
- 1:09:12Speaker 7: want to tap into the pop world.
- 1:09:15Speaker 3: I'm I'm gonna touch on that and I'm gonna touch
- 1:09:17Speaker 3: on upcoming artists too.
- 1:09:20Speaker 7: As far as the.
- 1:09:21Speaker 3: Pop world, I gotta sure gotta get one with dog
- 1:09:26Speaker 3: Cat mm hm h like Lizzo. You know, I got
- 1:09:33Speaker 3: some big pop ship on the way too. I can't say,
- 1:09:35Speaker 3: but it's gonna be surprising. But yeah, just just me
- 1:09:41Speaker 3: topping the pop world talks something I gotta do.
- 1:09:45Speaker 7: But got somebody in mind. We'll tap it up. Yeah.
- 1:09:50Speaker 3: But as far as upcoming, like I want to, like
- 1:09:53Speaker 3: I said, I want to break some artists from you know,
- 1:09:58Speaker 3: like like from under Meat to like sign to me.
- 1:10:01Speaker 3: So like I'm looking everywhere like upcoming artists, like specifically
- 1:10:05Speaker 3: like in Myphis of course, but I'm looking everywhere like
- 1:10:09Speaker 3: it can be. It could be some better from her
- 1:10:11Speaker 3: that we about to get a thousand DMS bro.
- 1:10:16Speaker 7: I gotta I got a record sent me some artists.
- 1:10:18Speaker 7: I'm listening to him.
- 1:10:19Speaker 6: It's Memphis the hottest city when it comes to music
- 1:10:21Speaker 6: right now in rap hip hop.
- 1:10:23Speaker 3: One of them, uh top five for show. I know
- 1:10:27Speaker 3: New York got that crazy drill wave. You know, Florida
- 1:10:32Speaker 3: got a corel that's that's that's a state. But you
- 1:10:35Speaker 3: know everybody say Florida, they always is like, you know,
- 1:10:38Speaker 3: Combinity's one down to say like Tennessee.
- 1:10:41Speaker 7: You know what I'm saying.
- 1:10:41Speaker 3: So I guess like Florida got a huge Munkey's wave,
- 1:10:45Speaker 3: you know, like region or why I do We're gonna
- 1:10:48Speaker 3: say region, So New York, Florida, the Memphis l A.
- 1:10:56Speaker 5: In Houston.
- 1:10:58Speaker 7: Do we not still at Atlanta?
- 1:11:00Speaker 8: Yea?
- 1:11:00Speaker 7: Atlanta?
- 1:11:00Speaker 3: Yeah, I mean Atlanta already everybody mentioned Atlanta, you know,
- 1:11:06Speaker 3: Atlanta going that's whatever they didn't. Atlanta was the central
- 1:11:09Speaker 3: of of trap music. You know what I'm saying. That
- 1:11:11Speaker 3: was the that was the home of it. So of course,
- 1:11:13Speaker 3: like I'm talking about, like you know, that's already understood.
- 1:11:18Speaker 6: Shout out to t I Trap Music, Trap Music Museum,
- 1:11:23Speaker 6: the inventor of trap music.
- 1:11:25Speaker 5: He didn't.
- 1:11:25Speaker 7: Really we need to put one of them in Memphis.
- 1:11:27Speaker 3: I we need to put a trap you're watching this,
- 1:11:29Speaker 3: put a trap music in Memphis. They got one, and
- 1:11:33Speaker 3: as they got that, they got the what's like a mad.
- 1:11:39Speaker 7: Escape.
- 1:11:40Speaker 3: Y'all need to put a trap music in Memphis and
- 1:11:43Speaker 3: call me. We're gonna figure out, we're gonna get to go.
- 1:11:46Speaker 3: You got commercial real estate? You have makes sense you haven't.
- 1:11:50Speaker 6: It's been a pleasure, my brother, anything else you want
- 1:11:52Speaker 6: to let the people know and be aware of.
- 1:11:54Speaker 3: I'm working on my album, you know, so that's gonna
- 1:11:57Speaker 3: be big. Just as far as me putting out music,
- 1:12:00Speaker 3: you know, I'm very strategic with how I go about it.
- 1:12:03Speaker 3: I'm learning the game, you know, just like the industry,
- 1:12:06Speaker 3: social media, the algorithm, it's all.
- 1:12:09Speaker 7: It's all based on how you do it.
- 1:12:12Speaker 3: So it's just like me, I'm very strategic with how
- 1:12:15Speaker 3: I'm doing I'm putting my tape together. You know, it's
- 1:12:18Speaker 3: gonna be some extravagant ship, some versatile ship, you know
- 1:12:22Speaker 3: what I'm saying. And I just want try to know
- 1:12:25Speaker 3: like I'm focused on that, but I'm focused on the
- 1:12:28Speaker 3: business too, the business, the music being the business.
- 1:12:32Speaker 7: But I'm gonna do it both.
- 1:12:34Speaker 6: Then you have it. Your future looks promising. Definitely, definitely
- 1:12:39Speaker 6: see a lot of good things in the future.
- 1:12:41Speaker 7: I appreciate that. Keep up the good work.
- 1:12:43Speaker 3: I got any other questions y'all want to ask, Let
- 1:12:46Speaker 3: me ask y'all want to ask you us do it?
- 1:12:48Speaker 3: What do y'all see this? Like the your leisure and
- 1:12:52Speaker 3: in five years what y'all see that?
- 1:12:55Speaker 5: Good question?
- 1:12:56Speaker 6: So I look at e y L as a media
- 1:13:01Speaker 6: conglomerate that's getting bigger and bigger, so as big or
- 1:13:05Speaker 6: bigger than Complex to the point where we could start
- 1:13:09Speaker 6: doing a variety of different things, not just business related.
- 1:13:12Speaker 6: And we did something like we did a show in
- 1:13:13Speaker 6: New York Fashion Week last year, so you know, getting
- 1:13:16Speaker 6: into fashion, getting into children, a cooking show, a travel show,
- 1:13:21Speaker 6: different things that nature right, and really expanding it, producing
- 1:13:25Speaker 6: content for other people, explaining the network. And the ultimate
- 1:13:29Speaker 6: goal is to take the company public and have it
- 1:13:33Speaker 6: on the stock market. You know, have people you know
- 1:13:36Speaker 6: now you can invest in and earn your least like
- 1:13:38Speaker 6: you know, I think that would be dope for them
- 1:13:40Speaker 6: because they watched our journey. They watched it start from
- 1:13:42Speaker 6: the dining room table by iPhones, ring the bell, ring
- 1:13:47Speaker 6: the bell on the New York Stock Market as a
- 1:13:50Speaker 6: ticker e y L.
- 1:13:51Speaker 8: Ticker I mean ready to got the ticket. I think
- 1:13:54Speaker 8: global domination in five years. I mean we can see
- 1:13:56Speaker 8: it happening now. And people were kind of laying the
- 1:13:58Speaker 8: footprints for it, right. So when you see it's in London,
- 1:14:01Speaker 8: you see it's in Nigeria, you see it's in Egypt,
- 1:14:04Speaker 8: you see it's in Jamaica, there's a reason we're going
- 1:14:06Speaker 8: there because we know that the message that we're delivering
- 1:14:10Speaker 8: is not being delivered at the rate it could be.
- 1:14:12Speaker 8: We're trying to expect that that and we want to
- 1:14:14Speaker 8: give it to the people in the way they can
- 1:14:16Speaker 8: understand it but actually execute on it. And so why
- 1:14:19Speaker 8: can't we be in al Jaziez right that reports on
- 1:14:22Speaker 8: world news specifically for regions, And so we feel like
- 1:14:26Speaker 8: we you know, it's a revolution for a reason, and
- 1:14:29Speaker 8: we are the financial missionaries of it.
- 1:14:31Speaker 6: And it dope to see people like you know, yourself
- 1:14:33Speaker 6: and other people that's champion financial literacy in their own way.
- 1:14:36Speaker 5: Everybody's got their own way.
- 1:14:37Speaker 6: But you know, I feel like it's picking up momentum
- 1:14:41Speaker 6: and steam every day is getting bigger and bigger and
- 1:14:43Speaker 6: bigger and more people talking about investing and talking about crypto.
- 1:14:45Speaker 6: They're talking about Web three point zero, we're talking about
- 1:14:48Speaker 6: real estate. So that's important, you know what I mean
- 1:14:50Speaker 6: because a lot for a long time that wasn't part
- 1:14:53Speaker 6: of the conversation. So for us just to add that
- 1:14:56Speaker 6: to it, and you know, it's just like a ripple effect.
- 1:15:00Speaker 6: You know, see different people doing their own spin on
- 1:15:02Speaker 6: it and adding to it, and now it now becomes
- 1:15:06Speaker 6: a real momentum for change because ultimately that's what the
- 1:15:08Speaker 6: platform was before, to help change people's lives, to provide
- 1:15:12Speaker 6: them with information that could change their family dynamic, you know,
- 1:15:16Speaker 6: and change the whole you know, mindset of how people
- 1:15:19Speaker 6: look at themselves and how people think. So that's important
- 1:15:22Speaker 6: and I feel like that's that's happening.
- 1:15:25Speaker 8: That's why when I first when we met, I was
- 1:15:27Speaker 8: smiling it straight. I'm like, oh you got oh you
- 1:15:30Speaker 8: get it. Yeah, oh you really get it. But you
- 1:15:33Speaker 8: getting it. There's gonna be a trickle effect as the
- 1:15:35Speaker 8: young guys that are watching you trying to follow the
- 1:15:39Speaker 8: path that you laid. And even though guys that are
- 1:15:41Speaker 8: older than you, oh, like wait, this young guy's figured
- 1:15:43Speaker 8: it out. Oh we need to tap in with him,
- 1:15:45Speaker 8: or we need to figure out what he knows. What
- 1:15:48Speaker 8: changes everybody's trajectory. You know what I'm saying. I show
- 1:15:51Speaker 8: that for sure.
- 1:15:53Speaker 5: There you have it. Ladies and gentlemen, take heat.
- 1:15:57Speaker 7: You just need to show we got mute that right.
- 1:16:01Speaker 9: We want to get paid on YouTube, you might have

- 1:17:37Speaker 1: An illegal alien from Guatemala charged with raping a child
- 1:17:41Speaker 1: in Massachusetts. An MS thirteen gang member from l Salvador
- 1:17:45Speaker 1: accused of murdering a Texas man of Venezuelan charged with
- 1:17:49Speaker 1: filming and selling child pornography in Michigan. These are just
- 1:17:53Speaker 1: some of the heinous migrant criminals caught because of President
- 1:17:57Speaker 1: Donald J. Trump's leadership. I'm Christine Noman, the United States
- 1:18:00Speaker 1: Secretary of Homeland Security. Under President Trump, attempted illegal border
- 1:18:05Speaker 1: crossings are at the lowest levels ever recorded, and over
