- 0:29[SPEAKER_02]: He did it, a 47D season and a season of life in the other and naturely baseball history from one of the co-natured.
- 0:49[SPEAKER_02]: Hey, it's this one hard.
- 0:51[SPEAKER_02]: He's the lion of the left.
- 0:53[SPEAKER_02]: Like Trump, that's right, come on on.
- 0:55[SPEAKER_00]: What's up, guys?
- 0:56[SPEAKER_00]: This is Mike Trout, and this is a sports car.
- 0:58[SPEAKER_00]: See you, Chris Carrant, Bublin' Hand.
- 1:03[SPEAKER_04]: What's up, boy?
- 1:04[SPEAKER_04]: How you all been?
- 1:05[SPEAKER_04]: It's good to see your face, man.
- 1:06[SPEAKER_04]: We said you're not in a deer stand.
- 1:09[SPEAKER_04]: You're actually at your beautiful home in Georgia.
- 1:11[SPEAKER_04]: And it's good to see you looking sharp.
- 1:13[SPEAKER_04]: Appreciate it, guys.
- 1:14[SPEAKER_04]: I've got a little hoodie on.
- 1:15[SPEAKER_04]: I'm just getting a little chilly outside, but I'm ready.
- 1:17[SPEAKER_03]: I'll take it.
- 1:18[SPEAKER_04]: ready for fall man we we had our last episode kind of me and and current on and talk a little bit about taking a bit of a breather taking a bit of a pause after gracious a little over year and a half with not missing a Wednesday it was much needed reprieve to be able to breathe for half a second and kind of the transition and now into the fall and so yeah we want to get into some stuff today got a little mat with us and we're going to talk a little bit about our
- 1:45[SPEAKER_04]: test case almost of everything that we've shared on this podcast actually putting it to action how that's worked for us going to a lot of business kind of the real quick i wanted to make mention current did say hello to our listeners today for those of you who follow the show you know current had a pretty big announcement uh... with gen one collect your gen one collectibles with mic trout current is partnered uh... with trout and launching that new brand
- 2:09[SPEAKER_04]: they made that announcement I guess a week or two ago and so they'll be more on that in the future for episodes for our listeners.
- 2:14[SPEAKER_04]: But Kern did say he said I want you boys to be well aware that both Caminera and Cheerio are in the world series and those are his two guys as he's ridden them all away the world series and he's pretty excited.
- 2:27[SPEAKER_03]: So I hope you're selling brother.
- 2:30[SPEAKER_04]: Oh, I can say, oh, we three kings, baby, the three kings are in the, uh, or in the three kings are on fanatic right now.
- 2:38[SPEAKER_04]: Fair enough, me.
- 2:39[SPEAKER_04]: Well, so Baba, give us the old, uh, filler in almost been going on in your world down in Georgia, into the fall.
- 2:45[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, football's over, so that's a double-edged sword there.
- 2:48[SPEAKER_03]: It's on one end, I miss it.
- 2:50[SPEAKER_03]: I love football, I'm for our kids, I'm playing football, that season ended.
- 2:54[SPEAKER_03]: Two or three of my sons were playing football, both of those games ended in losses.
- 2:58[SPEAKER_03]: I am the championships, which was heartbreaking.
- 3:01[SPEAKER_03]: Put a lot into that season in a great group of kids, and so I will miss football, not being there, but now we have basketball.
- 3:07[SPEAKER_03]: Starting up here in Georgia, which two or the three of the boys are also playing basketball.
- 3:12[SPEAKER_03]: So that starts next week, but basketball commitment wise is not nearly like football is.
- 3:17[SPEAKER_03]: I mean, football is a huge commitment down here.
- 3:20[SPEAKER_03]: So basketball is kind of chill, but the next month, really.
- 3:23[SPEAKER_03]: We don't have any games or anything, because there's just basketball practice to see the week.
- 3:26[SPEAKER_03]: So we're going to be in the Georgia forest as some people would call it.
- 3:30[SPEAKER_03]: The deep forest.
- 3:32[SPEAKER_03]: of Georgia, trying to enjoy the farm, some excited, excited about that.
- 3:37[SPEAKER_03]: So, a favorite time of year, having campfires and being outside, when temperatures here in Georgia are highs around 60, 70 degrees and nighttime temperatures in the 30 and 40s.
- 3:47[SPEAKER_03]: Absolutely love this time of year change in the color.
- 3:50[SPEAKER_03]: I with the leaves.
- 3:51[SPEAKER_03]: It's just a really is a cool time of year In Georgia so excited about that cooking out college footballs and full swing my dogs had a huge win And they went and laid in a absolute shit brick This last weekend against Auburn so that hurts a little bit, but yeah, I know About the door of new house that we've been kind of preparing to do we've had we've had a design or about to be building a new place literally
- 4:16[SPEAKER_03]: A thousand yards somewhere I sit, we bought some new property and so that process will start which is fun but also a little stressful and also another big piece of news and I'll think I'll even told you this ham.
- 4:27[SPEAKER_03]: I can tap and kind of quick the neighboring property to my farm who I've been talking to gentlemen for a couple of years about trying to buy it and he's kind of an often on about selling it or not selling it called me probably about a month ago and said we're going to put this thing up on the market.
- 4:44[SPEAKER_03]: DL1 and we were able to kind of work something out privately so I'll be closing on that in about two or three weeks So the plantation paradise plantation is a light to call it.
- 4:55[SPEAKER_03]: This will be the probably the final purchase of any kind of size down there.
- 4:58[SPEAKER_03]: I've got
- 4:59[SPEAKER_03]: This will be kind of the end of, but this was the purchase that completes everything to what I've been trying to build down there.
- 5:07[SPEAKER_03]: Absolutely beautiful properties.
- 5:08[SPEAKER_03]: They're a little cabin on it.
- 5:10[SPEAKER_03]: So I'm excited about that literally.
- 5:11[SPEAKER_03]: I mean, if I, when I can think about my future, you know, in 10, 15 years, my kids are going on, I mean,
- 5:17[SPEAKER_03]: You will see the Bowman farmer with a piece of wheat hanging out as mouth on the farm because I'm happy there My wife is happy on the lake.
- 5:25[SPEAKER_03]: I like the lake as well, but I'd rather be at the farm most days So boys that's uh, so what's we going on my life on the card front not much other than what we're doing with a business Justin and I who runs another part of kind of my old baseball bro's business at this point Honestly, it's really frustrating times for me in cars over there
- 5:44[SPEAKER_03]: I feel like PSA, I don't want to ruin the whole episode.
- 5:47[SPEAKER_03]: We can get in this deeper, but if the PSA is put a big squeeze on business right now, it's kind of souring me a bit, on cards a little bit.
- 5:55[SPEAKER_03]: So we'll talk more about that in the episode, but what do you boys been up to?
- 5:59[SPEAKER_01]: I got to say something like, when you're on the farm with the piece of wheat hanging out your mouth, you had the shirt on, it has your famous quote, I love land.
- 6:05[SPEAKER_01]: That was in season one famously, you said, I love land.
- 6:09[SPEAKER_01]: And the cow market is booming.
- 6:11[SPEAKER_01]: So, uh,
- 6:12[SPEAKER_03]: I've actually got a tattoo right here.
- 6:15[SPEAKER_03]: I love land right there, Carl's much up.
- 6:18[SPEAKER_01]: How's the cow market?
- 6:19[SPEAKER_01]: Is it booming?
- 6:20[SPEAKER_03]: Cow market is booming, you know?
- 6:21[SPEAKER_03]: So I'll be enough.
- 6:23[SPEAKER_03]: That booming, that market is absolutely booming.
- 6:26[SPEAKER_03]: Apparently in our country, more and more people are getting out of doing cattle and for the, there's a big demand for cattle.
- 6:33[SPEAKER_03]: So cattle's probably doubled in the last three years.
- 6:36[SPEAKER_03]: A lot of things have, but I'll give you an example at the lake up there and the lake has been just a straight,
- 6:41[SPEAKER_03]: up hill climb as far as property values is up and up and up and for the first time in the last six months to a year those numbers are doing like this and I'm starting to see that I think a lot of things kind of surrounding our world and we're seeing it in Bowman right like Bowman is continuously even with the new release people paying crazy stupid numbers out there on Bowman and on cars you look at the Tom Brady market there for a while the Jordan market I mean everything was kind of pointing like this and I feel like there's a lot more of this to that
- 7:11[SPEAKER_03]: Right now.
- 7:11[SPEAKER_03]: I'm so I don't know.
- 7:13[SPEAKER_03]: It's a strange time.
- 7:14[SPEAKER_03]: We'll talk again.
- 7:15[SPEAKER_03]: We're kind of I don't know if you all just want to dive right in on the episode here, but yeah, there's a lot to talk about yeah, we'll for sure.
- 7:21[SPEAKER_04]: So little Matt let's give us a you give a little filling in and then I'll do I'll wrap this up here.
- 7:25[SPEAKER_01]: All right.
- 7:25[SPEAKER_01]: I'm super busy.
- 7:26[SPEAKER_01]: I don't think I don't know if I've been on the show since I got
- 7:29[SPEAKER_01]: I was in some bad birthday, but it was my 16th birthday.
- 7:31[SPEAKER_01]: Got my license, having a car is amazing.
- 7:33[SPEAKER_01]: So, it's a lot more freedom for me.
- 7:35[SPEAKER_01]: Super busy right now with school.
- 7:38[SPEAKER_01]: I'm taking all hard AP classes, which sucks, but it's unfortunately, like sophomore years always tough.
- 7:44[SPEAKER_01]: Playing basketball every day after school, either lifting, which lifting is awful, or practicing.
- 7:49[SPEAKER_01]: I've practiced right after this.
- 7:51[SPEAKER_01]: Super busy with school and sports but still trying to stay locked in on the card game for probably about the first month of school didn't buy that many cards bought a couple not that many but over the last two weeks the buying has ramped up and we've been very focused on strategic buys now the options in the market is going kind of soft strategic buys we're going to talk about some of our strategies in a little bit but I'm just going to be a great episode of damn super excited to be on here with you guys.
- 8:16[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, it's been good, man.
- 8:17[SPEAKER_04]: And you know, it's kind of a status quo.
- 8:18[SPEAKER_04]: Like, I'm with you, Bob, I love the fall.
- 8:20[SPEAKER_04]: I just love this time of year, the transition into the holiday.
- 8:23[SPEAKER_00]: It's just a football.
- 8:24[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, now I have nothing on the football front to be excited about.
- 8:27[SPEAKER_04]: We don't cheer for any athletic programs anymore.
- 8:29[SPEAKER_04]: But no, I, yeah, I just, this time of years, always good for me to settle in.
- 8:33[SPEAKER_04]: It's a good time to take a breath at the early oak.
- 8:36[SPEAKER_04]: We've hired two new producers that are starting in November.
- 8:39[SPEAKER_04]: So that'll be, it's funny.
- 8:40[SPEAKER_04]: We started this podcast.
- 8:41[SPEAKER_04]: It was me.
- 8:42[SPEAKER_04]: And now we've got six additional producers.
- 8:44[SPEAKER_04]: you know now with early oak so that the business side is growing you know boys are in high school with the demands of that the girls are doing their things so family sides have been good cards is kind of leveled off a little bit but you know all in all it's been a really nice moment in time I guess to transition and I think when I was younger dude I used to like
- 9:01[SPEAKER_04]: I was always hesitant towards change.
- 9:03[SPEAKER_04]: I was always like, you know, adverse to change.
- 9:07[SPEAKER_04]: And now I've kind of like grown to welcome it.
- 9:10[SPEAKER_04]: Like, when things are changing, like, I'm excited.
- 9:12[SPEAKER_04]: Because then does something goes around the corner.
- 9:14[SPEAKER_04]: And it's just like letting go of things that you used to be attached to, moving into something else.
- 9:18[SPEAKER_04]: And so that's kind of been the mode.
- 9:19[SPEAKER_04]: I've just got out.
- 9:20[SPEAKER_04]: I got these open palms man.
- 9:21[SPEAKER_04]: I just want my palms are open.
- 9:22[SPEAKER_04]: It's like, hey, we're good.
- 9:24[SPEAKER_04]: I'm not holding on anything.
- 9:25[SPEAKER_04]: Nothing's holding on to me.
- 9:26[SPEAKER_04]: I'm just ready for whatever comes next.
- 9:28[SPEAKER_04]: So it's been it's been super cool.
- 9:30[SPEAKER_04]: I did want to share one big purchase update from
- 9:39[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, it's the Ripkin credentials future, numbered to 92 from 1998.
- 9:44[SPEAKER_04]: It's a PSA 9.
- 9:46[SPEAKER_04]: I'm pretty sure it's a pop for with only one PSA 10 in existence.
- 9:51[SPEAKER_04]: There's only, I think, what, eight copies graded?
- 9:53[SPEAKER_04]: Eight eights and total 17 graded.
- 9:56[SPEAKER_04]: 17 graded.
- 9:56[SPEAKER_04]: So it's just one of those cards, dude.
- 9:58[SPEAKER_04]: I've never seen it in a PSA 9.
- 10:01[SPEAKER_04]: We picked it up private party the other day.
- 10:03[SPEAKER_04]: And we actually also purchased a Ripkin precious metal gems.
- 10:09[SPEAKER_04]: on auction.
- 10:09[SPEAKER_04]: So we consolidated all of our rip can stuff pretty much into four nice cow rip can cards for our collection.
- 10:18[SPEAKER_04]: We've consolidated into three really nice four really nice microjordons, you know, outside of hanging on to a couple of pieces until they rebound, you know, we're pretty lean at Hamhouse Sports and we've gotten some nice PC stuff.
- 10:30[SPEAKER_04]: So it's been good, man,
- 10:32[SPEAKER_04]: You know, kind of hit the reset button in a lot of things and yeah, just be open to whatever's next.
- 10:37[SPEAKER_04]: So the elephant in the room bubble, let's go ahead and talk about this about the card market.
- 10:41[SPEAKER_04]: We're in a market right now where everything was booming, property values are booming, hards are booming, investments are booming.
- 10:48[SPEAKER_04]: And then we're getting into this thing people talk about the K economy.
- 10:51[SPEAKER_04]: We're parts of the economy.
- 10:52[SPEAKER_04]: You're still going strong and other parts you're just getting absolutely hammered.
- 10:56[SPEAKER_04]: And it feels right now like there's just a lot of volatility in the card market specifically.
- 11:02[SPEAKER_04]: I think a lot of the the the the falsehood is getting shaken out and you're seeing a lot of the shadiness kind of come to light.
- 11:09[SPEAKER_04]: There's been some theft with PSA you mentioned PSA from a grading standpoint.
- 11:14[SPEAKER_04]: You know and I really think we're in the moment right now for some transition.
- 11:17[SPEAKER_04]: So I'd love for you to kind of share any thoughts on that.
- 11:19[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, now I don't think it's just the card market either.
- 11:21[SPEAKER_03]: Obviously, I'm very active in the stock market.
- 11:25[SPEAKER_03]: Stocks are the same way.
- 11:26[SPEAKER_03]: A lot of volatility right now.
- 11:28[SPEAKER_03]: There's big swings up.
- 11:29[SPEAKER_03]: There's big swings down.
- 11:30[SPEAKER_03]: You can look at the AI trade, the chip companies.
- 11:33[SPEAKER_03]: I don't know if you'll follow that at all.
- 11:35[SPEAKER_03]: Micron Sandisk, those types of companies.
- 11:37[SPEAKER_03]: I mean, they've been 500% up in the last year.
- 11:41[SPEAKER_03]: And now, in one week, last week, they've lost 25% of that.
- 11:45[SPEAKER_03]: A name like Sandisk.
- 11:46[SPEAKER_03]: And so, you know, and you'll have days that they'll come back in the game 10.
- 11:51[SPEAKER_03]: And so we're in this market of like, I feel like everybody knows there's a rug right there.
- 11:56[SPEAKER_03]: When you gain 500% a year, there's a rug there and everybody's playing.
- 11:59[SPEAKER_03]: Can I keep making that money on top of the rug and bring the rug up with me as I go?
- 12:03[SPEAKER_03]: Because one day that rug's gonna get pulled.
- 12:05[SPEAKER_03]: And so I think whether that VAI and the AI trade that actually creates that bubble, we are in a bubble.
- 12:12[SPEAKER_03]: I think it's widely known that we're in a bubble.
- 12:17[SPEAKER_03]: It's just whether that bubble is in a pop.
- 12:19[SPEAKER_03]: Or are we just going to kind of bounce around in that bubble until we find a new normal if I do the answers to that I would be I wouldn't be on this podcast right now so but yeah so I don't I think it's not just stocks you look at crypto you look at cards you look at really you look at the housing market other sectors of the housing market that are absolutely crushing and then there's sectors of the market that are not.
- 12:40[SPEAKER_03]: And one of the sectors in our market here in Georgia, I don't know how the North Carolina market is, but I don't follow it, but the high end market is doing very well in our area.
- 12:48[SPEAKER_03]: I mean, it's inventory is moving, inventory goes up, it moves.
- 12:52[SPEAKER_03]: It's kind of that middle territory.
- 12:54[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.
- 12:55[SPEAKER_03]: That's not moving.
- 12:56[SPEAKER_03]: real well uh here in Georgia um i think it's just a squeeze man i think there's a squeeze on on people you know i've talked about money manager about this a lot as well um when it comes to stocks because what you'll see is on these days where AI is booming what do you think is getting smacked
- 13:15[SPEAKER_03]: Technology and AI's booming.
- 13:17[SPEAKER_03]: What do y'all think is getting crushed in the market on those days?
- 13:20[SPEAKER_03]: It wouldn't technology is booming.
- 13:22[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, when AI and technology is booming, what stock brand type of stocks do you think are not doing?
- 13:26[SPEAKER_03]: I would say it's like retail stuff like value stocks.
- 13:30[SPEAKER_03]: Anything of value.
- 13:31[SPEAKER_03]: So I'll give you an example company like charter communications.
- 13:33[SPEAKER_03]: They've traded it like three times.
- 13:35[SPEAKER_03]: I think they're earnings, which is crazy low companies like Pfizer companies like that.
- 13:40[SPEAKER_03]: When there's days that the stock market is booming, everybody's kind of pulling their money out of the safe stuff and going, let me chase Let me chase the big shiny thing over here and try to get multiples.
- 13:51[SPEAKER_03]: Well, when the volatility comes in and we're down 25% on those names.
- 13:55[SPEAKER_03]: What do you what names do you think are going the other way?
- 13:57[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, they're one bad guy.
- 13:58[SPEAKER_03]: You stocks.
- 13:59[SPEAKER_03]: And so I feel like cards are a little bit that same way right now.
- 14:04[SPEAKER_03]: You know, it's Brady was like an AI stock as crazy as that sounds there for a while back a couple months ago a little Matt, you called it you called the beginning of that trend upward.
- 14:13[SPEAKER_03]: That trend upward went crazy fast.
- 14:16[SPEAKER_03]: And then now it's gone back the other way I would Brady on some of this stuff.
- 14:19[SPEAKER_03]: It's Brady Bowman's and some of that stuff.
- 14:21[SPEAKER_03]: It's, it got beat so hard that now it's trying to almost come back alive.
- 14:25[SPEAKER_03]: And so the Jordan market I've seen that as well.
- 14:28[SPEAKER_03]: Now some of these Jordan stuff.
- 14:29[SPEAKER_03]: I mean stuff was just up and up and nothing could go lower.
- 14:33[SPEAKER_03]: right well it's not necessarily going down but it's going like this now we're got a sideways and so it's uh it's weird you know and you look at Bowman new release Bowman a listener of ours on the show and I talk on a regular basis he text me he's good to come a good friend and he was just saying dude it's stupid
- 14:51[SPEAKER_03]: how high this new release stuff is.
- 14:53[SPEAKER_03]: It's like it's nobody's paying attention to what's going on.
- 14:56[SPEAKER_03]: It's just higher and higher and higher and I don't know.
- 14:58[SPEAKER_03]: I mean whenever you see that when you think back to three seasons ago when we started this show, I don't know if you remember this ham when we started it was the beginning of the cycle.
- 15:08[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, it was literally the very, very beginning of this cycle, and we were like, wow, this is the first time ever that we're going into a winner and the markets not getting absolutely crushed, right?
- 15:20[SPEAKER_03]: Well, I just think we're falling back into where you're going to see him boom and start to drop.
- 15:24[SPEAKER_03]: You're seeing baseball start to drop.
- 15:25[SPEAKER_03]: We're just getting back to our normal cycle again.
- 15:27[SPEAKER_03]: This cycle of things never going down is just not reality.
- 15:31[SPEAKER_03]: So we all have to get used to that there's gonna be cycles where football is gonna be hot, because that's when people are care about it.
- 15:39[SPEAKER_03]: She'll be cycles where basketball is hot, and there's gonna be cycles where baseball is hot.
- 15:44[SPEAKER_03]: And there gonna be cycles where people pull their money out of cars.
- 15:48[SPEAKER_03]: because they need the money to live.
- 15:50[SPEAKER_03]: So anyway, that's my synopsis on it from a far right wrong or different.
- 15:55[SPEAKER_03]: I think that the market has, I think has room to run in certain stuff and stuff where people don't have to pull that money out to live.
- 16:02[SPEAKER_03]: But anything of anything that's that's not very, very specific, I think is that huge risk in my opinion.
- 16:09[SPEAKER_04]: You made it point earlier about high and real estate.
- 16:12[SPEAKER_04]: We know that here because Wilmington is a coastal destination.
- 16:15[SPEAKER_04]: There's a lot of high end.
- 16:16[SPEAKER_04]: Coastal Beach property Beachfront property.
- 16:18[SPEAKER_04]: The high end stuff is really strong.
- 16:20[SPEAKER_04]: And my offices are inside of real estate office.
- 16:22[SPEAKER_04]: And the high end stuff is strong.
- 16:24[SPEAKER_04]: And it's the mid end stuff.
- 16:25[SPEAKER_04]: You know what I mean, that had gotten inflated, that is really kind of taking a hit.
- 16:29[SPEAKER_04]: And so,
- 16:30[SPEAKER_04]: You know, when you look at cards and you understand that you're dealing with a card that is low population, that is rare, that is hard to come by or whatever.
- 16:37[SPEAKER_04]: Like it holds its value because the scarcity aspect of it.
- 16:40[SPEAKER_04]: But when you have this false sense of scarcity with these cards that, you know, really in truly aren't low population, or aren't a high demand player and a high demand market, you know, they're just kind of things.
- 16:49[SPEAKER_04]: A little Matt, what have you seen like in a market from that perspective, like cards that have, you know, kind of retreated a little bit.
- 16:56[SPEAKER_01]: You know, I was telling everyone on here three months ago.
- 16:59[SPEAKER_01]: Brady Crooms sell them if you have them, right?
- 17:02[SPEAKER_01]: And I ended up being right, but I was like, a lot, like, I did not expect them to have.
- 17:06[SPEAKER_01]: Brady Crooms have legit, that PS9's went from 15 grand and they're doing 7K again.
- 17:12[SPEAKER_01]: That's way too low in my opinion.
- 17:14[SPEAKER_01]: I think that that market was so manipulated by people that it's almost like, oh crap, it got out of control, what do we do now?
- 17:23[SPEAKER_01]: And then it just tanked because no one wanted them anymore.
- 17:26[SPEAKER_01]: A big thing I talked about on the podcast while back, how repackers have buying list.
- 17:31[SPEAKER_01]: And as soon as a player or as soon as a certain type of car gets taken off the buying list, that's when you see the market start to drop.
- 17:36[SPEAKER_01]: I saw someone posted a listener of the show, you know, like looking for a
- 17:45[SPEAKER_01]: That is going to hurt the Otani more.
- 17:47[SPEAKER_01]: Otani's market's already down 20% over the last month.
- 17:51[SPEAKER_01]: That's really going to hurt the Otani market if these massive baseball repackers stop taking Otani.
- 17:55[SPEAKER_01]: So everyone knows Otani right now.
- 17:57[SPEAKER_01]: Be careful out there.
- 17:59[SPEAKER_01]: If it's a high population Otani, I predicted it goes down another 20.
- 18:03[SPEAKER_01]: I think bum and crumb tens.
- 18:04[SPEAKER_01]: They were at 7500 a month ago.
- 18:06[SPEAKER_01]: They're at like 5500 right now.
- 18:08[SPEAKER_01]: They'll be at 4,000.
- 18:09[SPEAKER_01]: Come next month.
- 18:11[SPEAKER_01]: But on this high population stuff, it can't, I mean, it gets to a point where like if repackers aren't buying it, and it's not a true collectible card, then who wants it, right?
- 18:21[SPEAKER_01]: And if no one wants it, it's going to go down.
- 18:22[SPEAKER_01]: So the high and market on rare cards is booming, like a thunder and lightning, Michael Jordan doubled from what it didn't July, right?
- 18:31[SPEAKER_01]: But the scoring Kings Jordan high population card is down half what it wasn't July.
- 18:36[SPEAKER_01]: So looking off that, I would just say, no, no, what you want to put your money into and rare stuff right now is it seems like a good investment long term.
- 18:46[SPEAKER_04]: Well, I think another thing too, there's a lot of people that have made a lot of money in cards and when they want to start securing some assets.
- 18:53[SPEAKER_04]: They're looking at cards that they believe in long term, that they don't feel like it's going to lose value.
- 18:58[SPEAKER_04]: So they're buying and trading up into these really rare type.
- 19:02[SPEAKER_04]: It's like us with Rickken, you know.
- 19:03[SPEAKER_04]: Like when we started with Rickken, we could afford this essential credentials.
- 19:07[SPEAKER_04]: But now it's like, okay, I'm going to get it.
- 19:09[SPEAKER_04]: because I number one, I've not seen it and when I see it, I'm going to pick it up and I have the conviction in it to hold it long-term because of the scarcity of it and all that kind of stuff.
- 19:18[SPEAKER_04]: So I think you're seeing the shift in the market.
- 19:20[SPEAKER_04]: We've said this over and over on the podcast is the market's gotten smarter and it has gotten smarter and so the niche buying windows have just gotten more narrow and that's where you have to kind of be, you know.
- 19:32[SPEAKER_04]: on top of the game and be strategic.
- 19:34[SPEAKER_04]: And so I want to transition this into talking about our business, Bubba.
- 19:37[SPEAKER_04]: I'm going to let you lead this because you're the one who basically you're the capital behind this.
- 19:43[SPEAKER_04]: There's no secret there.
- 19:44[SPEAKER_04]: But I want you to tell why did you choose to do it this way with us and you know that your thoughts and then we'll share some figures on how this year's gone for us.
- 19:53[SPEAKER_03]: Well, before I do that, I do want to finish the thought on what we were just talking about.
- 19:57[SPEAKER_03]: Supplying demand control pricing on anything in life.
- 20:01[SPEAKER_03]: It doesn't matter if it's housing, it doesn't matter if it's a stocks.
- 20:04[SPEAKER_03]: Why does a stock go up and down every single day?
- 20:07[SPEAKER_03]: I don't know if people know that or not.
- 20:08[SPEAKER_03]: There's an asking, there's a bid.
- 20:10[SPEAKER_03]: And then somewhere between there, there's the real stock price.
- 20:13[SPEAKER_03]: right so demand is heading this way prices going down if demand is going this way prices going up that's that's how it's how it's stock is so it's no different with cards no I mean if if if junior came in era right now if I was guessing junior came in house price in the next week or so it's going to go this way
- 20:31[SPEAKER_03]: Right, jacks and charia's prices have been going this way.
- 20:35[SPEAKER_03]: You know, when Kevin McGonagall wins rookie at the year and it's announced Right now his prices are like this or they've actually become a go like that But now they're kind of going back to like this.
- 20:46[SPEAKER_03]: You know what's gonna happen when his name gets announced officially.
- 20:48[SPEAKER_03]: It's gonna go like that for a second
- 20:50[SPEAKER_03]: It is.
- 20:50[SPEAKER_03]: It's just a way it goes.
- 20:51[SPEAKER_03]: And so I'm so anyway, just keep that in mind.
- 20:54[SPEAKER_03]: You know, we're talking about a tony to one thing with a tony to compete at finish that thought.
- 20:58[SPEAKER_03]: I haven't, I've missed a lot of shots on a tony over time.
- 21:02[SPEAKER_03]: I just thought he's been too high the entire time, but there's so many people that demand that market and support that market.
- 21:08[SPEAKER_03]: that I think that he's still going to be somewhat insulated still, but it's those pumping dump people that you're talking about, little Matt, that are the ones that are going to hurt that Otani market, that lower Otani market, and it's crazy to say that a 49,000 dollar card is low, but Otani's market is really low, you know, a 49,000 is like bottom of the barrel on Otani.
- 21:28[SPEAKER_03]: And so that market probably will get washed out, because there's just immediate demand where people get freaked out, and then next spring, you know, it's in bombs and that should
- 21:37[SPEAKER_03]: to answer your question ham on, you know, really why did we decide to do this, you know, from y'all standpoint y'all can say why you wanted to do it as well, obviously, but from my standpoint, I think it just fit like a need, right?
- 21:51[SPEAKER_03]: Like for, for,
- 21:53[SPEAKER_03]: For me, if I was going to stay in cards the way that I was, I didn't want to do it the way that I was doing anymore.
- 22:01[SPEAKER_03]: I didn't want to live on a computer every single day trying to buy cards.
- 22:06[SPEAKER_03]: I didn't want to have Instagram footprint really any more out there in cards.
- 22:10[SPEAKER_03]: I didn't want to have to deal with that anymore.
- 22:13[SPEAKER_03]: I really didn't, I was ready to, but I wanted to stay involved.
- 22:16[SPEAKER_03]: So, one of my car games, I wanted to stay invested in cars in somewhat.
- 22:21[SPEAKER_03]: So, I look at it as like an alternative investment, business that I own a percentage of.
- 22:26[SPEAKER_03]: And so, I just felt like it was, I felt like it's a good, there's not many places you can go and put money to work and know the back end of like, it's almost like if you're gonna buy a stock and you're like, ooh, I'm gonna buy a said stock, but I have an inside information on what's kind of going on inside that company.
- 22:42[SPEAKER_03]: You probably are going to perform better, right?
- 22:44[SPEAKER_03]: Well, I feel like our inside information on kind of are understanding this market now, and specifically little math, you're understanding in the market, it brings a whole different dynamic of investing and collecting that, frankly, I don't bring to the table, and Justin definitely doesn't bring to the table.
- 23:00[SPEAKER_03]: So, and I trust it, you guys.
- 23:03[SPEAKER_03]: So, I think there's a big dynamic there, right?
- 23:05[SPEAKER_03]: You got to have trust in any business.
- 23:07[SPEAKER_03]: Has it been perfect and easy every single day we've owned this business together now?
- 23:11[SPEAKER_03]: I mean, are there days that you'll probably get frustrated with me or Justin or likewise, you know, yes, sure.
- 23:16[SPEAKER_03]: But at the end of the day, we trust each other, right?
- 23:18[SPEAKER_03]: At least I'm, I think, I hope we do.
- 23:20[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.
- 23:20[SPEAKER_03]: I trust you guys.
- 23:21[SPEAKER_03]: And I think that that's the key is, you know, when you're going to go to battle together, you have to be able to trust each other and go to work together.
- 23:28[SPEAKER_03]: And so that's that from my perspective that is a hundred percent the reason to do it.
- 23:34[SPEAKER_03]: It just made sense in the timing of where I was and thanks to do it.
- 23:37[SPEAKER_03]: And then from a perspective of what it's evolved to, it's really kind of cool.
- 23:42[SPEAKER_03]: I think we, you know, we talk on, you know, probably every a couple weeks a year and I do just kind of what do you see the market?
- 23:48[SPEAKER_03]: Maybe at the least once a month about how do you see this or how do you feel that?
- 23:51[SPEAKER_03]: And I think we've all become
- 23:54[SPEAKER_03]: Y'all have always been very, very disciplined.
- 23:57[SPEAKER_03]: Card investors.
- 23:58[SPEAKER_03]: I was the perverse.
- 23:59[SPEAKER_03]: I was a buy everything, voting into the wall, hope that it does well kind of got.
- 24:03[SPEAKER_03]: And I definitely look at it differently now.
- 24:05[SPEAKER_03]: And I think little Matt, you don't, you deal with me on the back end on certain cards.
- 24:08[SPEAKER_03]: And I think I've probably gotten pretty tight on what we buy, what we chase now these days.
- 24:14[SPEAKER_03]: And so it's just a discipline.
- 24:16[SPEAKER_03]: It's no different.
- 24:17[SPEAKER_03]: I think than anything else, you know, I've been doing this almost five years now.
- 24:20[SPEAKER_03]: You learn what does well and what doesn't do well and what the chase and what not the chase.
- 24:25[SPEAKER_03]: And I don't know.
- 24:26[SPEAKER_03]: I just feel like we're at this point in the game where we just understand when to go, when not to go.
- 24:31[SPEAKER_03]: So yeah.
- 24:32[SPEAKER_04]: You know, it's funny man, you know, because a little man I had done this on our own and as I've told many people, it's like when we started the card thing, I had no income, like legitimately no income whatsoever.
- 24:42[SPEAKER_04]: And I was very disciplined to not take any income from the card business, you know, living off some savings and kind of making some things happen on the other side of the world.
- 24:49[SPEAKER_04]: Until now it's like, okay, now you see a business model where it makes sense and you can come to terms with it.
- 24:55[SPEAKER_04]: It's always interesting to me, Baba, you had this background of business acumen.
- 24:59[SPEAKER_04]: You know of running your turf company and you know we're involved with that with your dad and here I am with Little Matt and we've often said You know in the background about how our relationship and our personality is even you know Reminds of like you and your dad and stuff and so in a way it's like you're taking what you learned back then running this business with your dad and I
- 25:19[SPEAKER_04]: you know passing it down to us and that's been super helpful and it's interesting because like you and I have relationship, you and little man have relationship like y'all talk a lot of times and I'm not involved in vice versa we talk and you know he's not involved and there's this open line of communication that's just been super cool but ultimately for us you know I was in a spot where I was like man I just don't want to keep risking all this capital with you know a minimal income.
- 25:40[SPEAKER_04]: every single month laying it out there and it was like a perfect mesh up because little Matt didn't necessarily like to do the back in, really gritty grunt stuff.
- 25:46[SPEAKER_04]: He likes to go and buy.
- 25:48[SPEAKER_04]: So we kind of put, you know, you in this oversight, you know, seat with the capital and then Justin and kind of the back in kind of office, you know, type management stuff.
- 25:57[SPEAKER_04]: Little Matt is the buyer and then me is kind of the,
- 26:00[SPEAKER_04]: you know, whatever the the help and steer the ship or you know kind of move us one way to the left or to the right and it's been amazing man.
- 26:07[SPEAKER_04]: So, but I don't know what your expectations were when we started this whole thing but I was just pulling our numbers through Q3 so we're finished with the third quarter.
- 26:16[SPEAKER_04]: We've done $1 million and $30,000 in sales for the year.
- 26:21[SPEAKER_04]: That's gross sales.
- 26:23[SPEAKER_04]: And our profit, you know, at least on paper right now
- 26:30[SPEAKER_04]: on the year.
- 26:31[SPEAKER_04]: Our biggest month is 200,000 in sales with about 70,000 in profit.
- 26:37[SPEAKER_04]: We had another month where we did 170 in sales with $67,000 in profit.
- 26:41[SPEAKER_04]: And I look at those numbers didn't just blows my mind.
- 26:45[SPEAKER_04]: It's insane to think that we've been able to do that this year.
- 26:49[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah.
- 26:50[SPEAKER_04]: And yet we have and it's been through this consistent approach to how we tackle cards, how we tackle the seasons, how we tackle the verticals, how we tackle the strategies.
- 27:00[SPEAKER_04]: But right now we've had to kind of adapt and we've had to pivot because the things that used to work aren't necessarily working.
- 27:06[SPEAKER_04]: And so little Matt, as you reflect on this, you know, I think it's harder for you at 16 to really wrap your mind around like,
- 27:13[SPEAKER_04]: What you've accomplished.
- 27:14[SPEAKER_04]: I think people in the outside looking in and I'm like, oh my gosh, and you're kind of like, well, whatever, it's just like what I do.
- 27:19[SPEAKER_04]: But like what aspect of it for you, would you say has been, I don't know that necessarily the most enjoyable, but what part about it for you is you look back on your man.
- 27:28[SPEAKER_04]: That was cool.
- 27:29[SPEAKER_01]: I love the word you just used a DAPT and a DAPT so we've had to use a lot over the last few months with how much the market's been changing and that's one thing that all of us in the business have been good at and I think we've adapted well right.
- 27:42[SPEAKER_01]: One of the coolest things I feel like we've probably spent like buying cards is my favorite thing doing the whole world and I feel like this is given me an opportunity to do what I love the most.
- 27:54[SPEAKER_01]: by giving me more capital to do what I love.
- 27:57[SPEAKER_01]: Like last year, like sometimes I can't buy this week, we have a wiring company and we can't, but now it's kind of like, it's a feeling of trust.
- 28:05[SPEAKER_01]: Number one from you, number two from a Bubba and it's just from like two people smart business and telling me like, hey, dude, like, I trust you.
- 28:13[SPEAKER_01]: I think you're great at what you do and I want to pour into you.
- 28:15[SPEAKER_01]: So people, you know,
- 28:17[SPEAKER_01]: pouring into what I love is it's just been really cool.
- 28:21[SPEAKER_01]: But I think we've been very disciplined this year.
- 28:23[SPEAKER_01]: Like, we sure we've lost money here and there.
- 28:26[SPEAKER_04]: But so what would you say?
- 28:27[SPEAKER_04]: What would you say like biggest wins, buckets of wins when you look back in the year?
- 28:30[SPEAKER_01]: All right.
- 28:31[SPEAKER_01]: Well, we, so first quarter of the year, we started out and we had a game plan.
- 28:34[SPEAKER_01]: We got on a call January 1st and we said, all right, first quarter of the year, we're going after the Bumma guys.
- 28:40[SPEAKER_01]: Connor McGonagall JJ weatherhole were the top of the top right we went out about 82 Connor Griffin first on us we probably had 30 McGonagall 20 weatherhole we were buying everything we could base aqua lava goals I mean we'd we lived eight oranges and gold's multiple every single person there and so the first few months we bought bought bought I don't know if we sold a card in January we did sell some cards but there's more yeah
- 29:06[SPEAKER_01]: And we would only sell cards.
- 29:07[SPEAKER_01]: We were buying buying quick, but we totaled up all these corners, all these McDonald's, all these weather holds, and we were buying, like, I remember we were buying base, Connor, PSA 10s.
- 29:16[SPEAKER_01]: We ended up getting almost 20 of them, or paying 800 bucks a piece, and in March, we were selling them off, 1800 bucks.
- 29:22[SPEAKER_01]: And we did that with 20 of them.
- 29:24[SPEAKER_01]: And that was our game plan and we absolutely crushed it.
- 29:28[SPEAKER_01]: If you would have told me this is exactly what what would happen.
- 29:31[SPEAKER_01]: If the best possible case scenario happened, that's exactly what happened.
- 29:35[SPEAKER_01]: We had some massive crack and crosswinds, cracked a Connor orange PSA 9 or no, it was raw.
- 29:40[SPEAKER_01]: We bought it raw.
- 29:40[SPEAKER_01]: We got a PSA 10 and we cracked ended up getting three, two or three, McGonagall gold PSA 10s that were cracked and so we ended up doing very well.
- 29:49[SPEAKER_01]: That's why our March and April members are great.
- 29:52[SPEAKER_01]: We were kind of like, okay, so we just made all this money on Bowman and now Bowman's not hot anymore.
- 29:57[SPEAKER_01]: So what do we do?
- 29:58[SPEAKER_01]: So I go to Bubba and I say the goat market's about to take off.
- 30:02[SPEAKER_01]: Cards like Brady Bowman's Jordan Fleeers, Gretsky rookies, and I say, but I don't think we should have flipping quick because I think they're really going to go up.
- 30:10[SPEAKER_01]: So I proposed to them that we should take a certain amount of money and then buy all goats kind of put them in a stash for one to two months.
- 30:19[SPEAKER_01]: and uh... he's like sure let's do it and we ended up crushing on that so two for two on the game plan so far and we ended up moving a lot of those cards at either national or fanatics fest but a couple like big wins from that time we're uh you know we bought like three brady boom in nine five's for like five k and they ended up getting up to like eleven and then we bought a showhead of tony all aces those are nine we crafted out of ten and end up selling effort twenty six k
- 30:46[SPEAKER_01]: And then after that right we just bought all the goats we see the market starting to come down a bit right what do we want to do now and then we got into hey let's start buying cards and sending them the PSA and getting some cracking crosswinds and this is kind of where we're shifted to now.
- 31:01[SPEAKER_01]: and some of the big wins.
- 31:02[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, we gym to East West for Fractor.
- 31:04[SPEAKER_01]: We took a East West for Fractor, BGS9 into a PSA9's huge win.
- 31:09[SPEAKER_01]: And we started sending cards to Mike Baker.
- 31:11[SPEAKER_01]: We sent a Tiger Woods SP authentic to Mike Baker, and got a gold diamond, ended up selling it for a good number on auction.
- 31:17[SPEAKER_01]: But
- 31:18[SPEAKER_01]: I think the biggest things we executed our plans a hundred percent of the time and we were very displamed with what our goals were and so we've been very grateful to do it we have in the first three quarters but I'm excited for this quarter because now it's kind of like what we're doing now is pretty much almost all cracking cross and by to auction so we bought probably 15 cards in the last two weeks that are just probably going to crack and cross.
- 31:41[SPEAKER_04]: I think there's just good opportunity with the volatility in the grading game right now when you see opportunities to move cards from BGS to PSA, or PSA cards that you don't feel like, you know, got a fair shot or whatever, and you recognize that this is just a market dynamic that you can kind of attack, take advantage.
- 31:59[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, and I think that's really what we've really been good at but I'll tell you now it's like more so than ever I'm just super strategic on what we're buying, you know, and you know, one of the things that I've noticed right now is vintage cards are going through the roof dude Some of these like early mammals, you know, even the 51 Bowman like those have doubled the 53 tops and we've owned multiple of those those cards have doubled
- 32:22[SPEAKER_04]: And so you're just seeing a lot of money flood into a lot more of these secure assets and there's still some volatility and some wins that are happening with some of these newer low population cards, but I think what I think the next pivot I told them at this is,
- 32:37[SPEAKER_04]: I think NBA is going to have a pretty big vocal season, you know, I think you've got the windbees of the world, the Cooper flags of the world.
- 32:46[SPEAKER_04]: You still got LeBron and Curry play and you've got tops now back in the game.
- 32:51[SPEAKER_04]: So you have a lot of these, you know, Curry and LeBron parallels in the modern game.
- 32:57[SPEAKER_04]: that are the low population parallels.
- 32:59[SPEAKER_04]: No different than a Jordan, you know, number to 200 went in his 10th year.
- 33:03[SPEAKER_04]: You know, I think there's some opportunities there.
- 33:05[SPEAKER_04]: So just kind of all eyes on, man.
- 33:07[SPEAKER_04]: But, you know, not having to rush into anything.
- 33:10[SPEAKER_04]: And I think that's the benefit.
- 33:11[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 33:11[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, I think another reason I love them be a market is I was really heavy into the NFL market two years ago when the rookie class was Daniel's Caleb May.
- 33:20[SPEAKER_01]: I know,
- 33:24[SPEAKER_01]: had literally like a thousand cabooms of those players, but the reason I like basketball is because the rookie classes, they will get the last two rookie classes.
- 33:32[SPEAKER_01]: Last year, Con Kinniple, Dylan Harper, Cooper Flag, Vijay Edgecom, and you look at this year.
- 33:39[SPEAKER_01]: AJ debons the cambooser, Caleb Wilson, Darren Peterson, so you're going to have some really good rookies, and I think the hype on basketball is just going to continue to rise, and with the baseball lockout and football, the rookie classes here is not good at all.
- 33:53[SPEAKER_01]: When you see those two, people are going to shine away from those new football products, and they're going to be some of these new basketball products.
- 33:59[SPEAKER_01]: So I agree with Big Mac, I think NBA's next play, and that's why we picked up a lot of
- 34:06[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah.
- 34:07[SPEAKER_04]: So one of the things that's been interesting about that I wanted to mention before we kind of start wrap up the episode is the auction games changed a little bit.
- 34:14[SPEAKER_04]: It used to be the auctions were going higher and higher and higher.
- 34:17[SPEAKER_04]: So if you picked up something by the time you got it submitted to auction.
- 34:21[SPEAKER_04]: The carded already may be auctioned a couple of times and gone up 10% and then maybe your auction went 10% higher.
- 34:26[SPEAKER_04]: We've noticed a retreat on that.
- 34:28[SPEAKER_04]: And in fact, the first five card sales we've had or six card sales we've had through the month of October, they've been flat or negative.
- 34:35[SPEAKER_04]: Like the first five we haven't really made money on or maybe even lost a little bit.
- 34:39[SPEAKER_04]: So I think the auction side is winning and I think that's just a that's a function of they're not being enough demand in the auction houses for all the cards that are getting put out there.
- 34:49[SPEAKER_04]: So I think you're going to continue to see that kind of shake up and people that were just like us readily auctioning cards are going to go wait a second.
- 34:56[SPEAKER_04]: I'm not going to do that quite as much.
- 34:58[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, supply and demand.
- 34:59[SPEAKER_03]: I mean, I told a little Matt this other day.
- 35:01[SPEAKER_03]: So it's all what you're auctioning because there's been some cards.
- 35:04[SPEAKER_03]: We've done the same thing.
- 35:05[SPEAKER_03]: There's no round of a reason sometimes.
- 35:07[SPEAKER_03]: You'll be like sitting there and go, why did this card just go?
- 35:10[SPEAKER_03]: Why did this card specifically just go 30% over the last comp?
- 35:14[SPEAKER_03]: When there was no reason it should.
- 35:15[SPEAKER_03]: Somebody wanted it.
- 35:16[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.
- 35:16[SPEAKER_03]: Two people
- 35:17[SPEAKER_03]: wanted it and they thought it out, right?
- 35:18[SPEAKER_03]: Well, sometimes you'll have another guy in the car just for whatever reason, maybe just came off of this season ending or people are, you know, in vacation, I don't know what the demand was down that week.
- 35:28[SPEAKER_03]: And so there's sometimes there's just no rhyme or reason to this stuff.
- 35:31[SPEAKER_03]: But I do want to say this because this is kind of cool of sitting here thinking this is the episode was going is, you know, every single year, what gear season signified me and I used to do this.
- 35:41[SPEAKER_03]: I would sit in my tree stand, okay, and your hunting for me is not about the hunting, you know what to be very clear about that.
- 35:48[SPEAKER_03]: It's about being in the woods, it's about that quiet, it's a beautiful calm morning, a sunrise, a sunset, having your coffee and it's quiet.
- 35:57[SPEAKER_03]: More joy on my life is not quiet, having four kids running businesses, staying with my phone rings, the text goes off, so my life is not quiet.
- 36:05[SPEAKER_03]: It's one of the rare times it's quiet and so when the noise was on heavily running a business of all turf every single year I would go into the tree stand and it was our budget season okay and we did budgets it wasn't just budgets on the way to people think about Okay, well, it's a financial budget.
- 36:21[SPEAKER_03]: No, it was a budget on everything
- 36:23[SPEAKER_03]: How many sales are we going to do?
- 36:24[SPEAKER_03]: How are we going to serve as our customers better?
- 36:26[SPEAKER_03]: We budgeted everything.
- 36:28[SPEAKER_03]: Cancelationals, anchors, everything you name it.
- 36:31[SPEAKER_03]: We're getting budget.
- 36:32[SPEAKER_03]: Everything came together.
- 36:33[SPEAKER_03]: It was this master plan of how are we going to execute the next year.
- 36:37[SPEAKER_03]: And out of being away from the business, it's the number one thing I miss outside of the people.
- 36:43[SPEAKER_03]: Outside of my team and my crew, I told my dad to say that I miss the budget.
- 36:48[SPEAKER_03]: And we are due for that kind of budget.
- 36:50[SPEAKER_03]: We are do, obviously, in the tree stand, you know, we need to look back.
- 36:54[SPEAKER_03]: We've kind of done this on the show, we're looking at 26 and what we've done well.
- 36:58[SPEAKER_03]: We all look at 27, how do we, how do we even do more?
- 37:01[SPEAKER_03]: How do we even do better?
- 37:02[SPEAKER_03]: And I'll say that with people listening to the show from a business dynamic and I mean this, and it's even with my kids right now on sports.
- 37:08[SPEAKER_03]: Like my son, that's playing basketball for the first time.
- 37:12[SPEAKER_03]: And he has his first practice next Monday and he's out and he'll go dribble the ball for 20 minutes And I'll say you need to work on layups free throws and I want you working on you know dribbling I want you forward backwards, you know you're drunk you have to be able to dribble basketball to play the game right even though you're a big guy I want you to know how to dribble the basketball
- 37:30[SPEAKER_03]: He'll go out there and shoot layups for 20 minutes and he won't do well and he'll get mad.
- 37:33[SPEAKER_03]: Hey, how quick does this game happen?
- 37:35[SPEAKER_03]: How does it how why can't I be good at this game?
- 37:38[SPEAKER_03]: That's a dude.
- 37:38[SPEAKER_03]: Is there anything in life that you've ever done?
- 37:40[SPEAKER_03]: Baseball, basketball, football, nothing happens like that.
- 37:44[SPEAKER_03]: School, it takes, you've got to put the work in, you've got to put the time in.
- 37:48[SPEAKER_03]: And when you think about business, it's no different.
- 37:51[SPEAKER_03]: If you want to be successful in the card game in 27, you should be laying out your plan.
- 37:55[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.
- 37:56[SPEAKER_03]: You should be laying out your budget.
- 37:58[SPEAKER_03]: You should be laying out your plans.
- 38:00[SPEAKER_03]: And you've got to look through all the noise and get to your quiet places and be able to lay it down and say, here's what we're gonna do next year.
- 38:08[SPEAKER_03]: Here's the road map to next year and here's how we're gonna execute because the people that never have a never ending desire to get better are the ones that are gonna win.
- 38:18[SPEAKER_03]: the ones that are just okay with last year, if we just stay okay with last year, we're not going to be okay.
- 38:24[SPEAKER_03]: And what we've kind of been doing is almost every quarter, naturally, we're kind of flowing over to the next one, right?
- 38:30[SPEAKER_03]: Well, as we're sitting here laying up next year, we can anticipate that's probably going to continue.
- 38:35[SPEAKER_03]: But there's going to be opportunity.
- 38:37[SPEAKER_03]: I mean, you haven't, and I, you know, talked about that last week.
- 38:39[SPEAKER_03]: I genuinely believe that comes spring.
- 38:42[SPEAKER_03]: The card market's going to get its natural bonus.
- 38:49[SPEAKER_03]: And we'll probably continue to soften as Christmas comes on and as the end of the year comes on I think it's gonna bring up some very big opportunities for next spring because a lot of people were putting them in a money in four stars They realize that hey, I can go put my money over here instead of in crypto and I'm gonna get XYZ return Or I can put my money over here and so you talk about mangle for example
- 39:11[SPEAKER_03]: why would people be pouring mantle in the roof and mantle and so it's safe and in going anywhere we talked about they don't have to put they don't have to hit another ball they don't have to worry about are they gonna strike out four times tomorrow night you don't have to worry about that it's not making any more of them
- 39:26[SPEAKER_03]: you know what I mean and so I think is we sit here and I'm excited about that.
- 39:31[SPEAKER_03]: I'm excited about sitting there and I reflect beyond in that tree stand well beyond more than just business but having that journal almost in journal and thinking about our business and you know I think about life in general out there I mean whether you're in a deer stand or whether you're walking at the park or whether you've got a place in your house or whether you're listening to this podcast right now
- 39:50[SPEAKER_03]: I highly recommend that over the next two and a half months that we all have remaining in this year that you start reflecting on what you want 27 to look like.
- 39:58[SPEAKER_03]: And not only just in your business world and your card row, but in your personal life, you know, I mean, I'm going to do that on every single phase of my life.
- 40:07[SPEAKER_03]: And I've got in the card a day after we were up in soccer and I'm looking at a piece of property.
- 40:12[SPEAKER_03]: And I just got in the card and I gave him a wife a kiss and I said, I just thank for for our life.
- 40:17[SPEAKER_03]: I'm just thankful that we're here on a Tuesday, you and I are together and this is our life.
- 40:24[SPEAKER_03]: And there's so many of us I think that can get so focused on what we don't have or what we want as a world that we can lose track of that we're alive, that we have family, that we have something to wake up every day and be proud of.
- 40:38[SPEAKER_03]: So that's my plan the next 10 weeks is to really focus on that in our obviously in the
- 40:47[SPEAKER_03]: And I think part of that, we haven't talked about this, so I'm going to say it live on the show.
- 40:50[SPEAKER_03]: I want to do more next year.
- 40:52[SPEAKER_03]: I want to shut down more or less of what Justin and I are doing.
- 40:56[SPEAKER_03]: And I'm going to try to shut that business down in a way and go fool in with our business.
- 41:02[SPEAKER_04]: You know, it's funny.
- 41:03[SPEAKER_04]: I've always told people like November is the month of the year that you capitalize on the year ahead.
- 41:08[SPEAKER_04]: There's never a greater month because between Thanksgiving and Christmas, you're always so busy.
- 41:13[SPEAKER_04]: There's always so much to do.
- 41:15[SPEAKER_04]: And then at the end of the year, it's kind of like you just, you're exhausted.
- 41:18[SPEAKER_04]: And so I've always used November as that kind of marker, right?
- 41:22[SPEAKER_04]: The month of November for that, like, looking back and looking forward and starting to kind of set
- 41:28[SPEAKER_04]: And it's really interesting because this year I think you know, I was talking tell some of this other day a lot of times when you're not busy You're like, oh, God, I'm not busy.
- 41:35[SPEAKER_04]: I got to do something.
- 41:36[SPEAKER_04]: I got to go sell something.
- 41:37[SPEAKER_04]: I got to do something I've been on the not busy side lately and I really felt like God the other day He was like, how do you know that's not for your own good?
- 41:45[SPEAKER_04]: And I was like a
- 41:46[SPEAKER_04]: Thank you.
- 41:47[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, maybe it is.
- 41:48[SPEAKER_04]: He's like, just take a minute.
- 41:50[SPEAKER_04]: It's not crazy.
- 41:51[SPEAKER_04]: You're not flying in New York.
- 41:52[SPEAKER_04]: You're not flying in Chicago.
- 41:54[SPEAKER_04]: You're not trying to, you know, all this stuff this summer was just so nutty.
- 41:57[SPEAKER_04]: He was like, just breathe for a minute and enjoy this, but start to think through what's next.
- 42:02[SPEAKER_04]: And so I'm grateful for that.
- 42:04[SPEAKER_04]: You know, we want to go and wrap up the episode, man.
- 42:06[SPEAKER_04]: It's good to be back on Bubba and kind of,
- 42:08[SPEAKER_04]: You know, talk a little bit about this business, the success that we've had, putting that to the test, you just let our listeners know like we're doing this real time with you guys and sharing everything, you know, that we're learning along the way and hopefully it's helpful, Matthew, any final thoughts?
- 42:21[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I feel like one thing just won't work on like for the next.
- 42:24[SPEAKER_01]: I feel like this year sometimes when the market is down.
- 42:27[SPEAKER_01]: I feel like it's a tent, like Tennessee for a lot of people to go, okay, baseball markets down my repackers not buying right now.
- 42:34[SPEAKER_01]: I'm just gonna chill, take it all for a month, like.
- 42:38[SPEAKER_01]: Now it is good to rest sometimes, but I want to find a way to, okay, let's find another way, like find another way.
- 42:44[SPEAKER_01]: And I think that's really going to be like, not like a business model, but like for next year, like right now, like I've, we've literally done booming our whole life.
- 42:52[SPEAKER_01]: And now that the booming market is solved, are you going to like stop doing, am I going to stop doing cards?
- 42:56[SPEAKER_01]: Just because boom is nothing.
- 42:58[SPEAKER_01]: Or am I going to go and research to the entire basketball market and find out, okay, this card does this.
- 43:04[SPEAKER_01]: Because at the end of the day,
- 43:08[SPEAKER_01]: When we've been cracking cards, I'm this is secret.
- 43:11[SPEAKER_01]: I shouldn't tell them the secret, but I'm going to tell like what we do is when you find a car that the math doesn't work on, basically let's just say a card and a PSA 9 and a PSA 10 if it's a 50% gem rate, but the PSA 10 does three times more than the 9.
- 43:27[SPEAKER_01]: Why is that if the car is a 50% chance to gem?
- 43:30[SPEAKER_01]: So if there's a...
- 43:31[SPEAKER_01]: If it's basically a chance, when we talk about it before, Boba tortoise will begin a year if you flip the coin at lands on tails, you break even if you flip the coin at lands on heads you make 10k.
- 43:40[SPEAKER_01]: You're flipping that coin every time, and that's what we're doing.
- 43:42[SPEAKER_01]: We're flipping as many coins as we possibly can.
- 43:44[SPEAKER_01]: And going into 2027, I want to flip it thousand coins.
- 43:48[SPEAKER_01]: And if we're 50, 50 on all of them, we're going to make a lot of coins this year.
- 43:53[SPEAKER_04]: You know, Boba isn't nice to have the energy of a 16 year old.
- 43:57[SPEAKER_03]: I love it.
- 43:58[SPEAKER_03]: That's what makes our business really cool is we've got literally four different ways of thinking inside of our own business, which makes our business special.
- 44:08[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, man.
- 44:09[SPEAKER_03]: Well, I appreciate you doing.
- 44:10[SPEAKER_04]: Thanks for jumping on to our listeners.
- 44:11[SPEAKER_04]: Thanks so much for tuning in.
- 44:12[SPEAKER_04]: It's Portugal CEO.

- 44:21[SPEAKER_04]: One last thought.
- 44:22[SPEAKER_03]: Freeze, don't grow to the sky, ham.
- 44:24[SPEAKER_03]: Freeze, don't grow to the sky.
- 44:25[SPEAKER_04]: go deep before you can go have it.
- 44:28[SPEAKER_03]: Peace boys, see ya.
