- 1:12Speaker 3: For tens of minutes at the same these categories same
- 1:17Speaker 3: and I picked not only my favorite, but what I
- 1:19Speaker 3: thought statistically was the most likely to win.
- 1:22Speaker 2: That's what I did as well. Now I actually did
- 1:25Speaker 2: take some time because I did it from my flight
- 1:29Speaker 2: from Orlando or too many yes every time every time Orlando.
- 1:36Speaker 2: I think that's the Book of Mormon. But yeah, from
- 1:41Speaker 2: Orlando to Minneapolis. That's a three hour flight, bro, and
- 1:44Speaker 2: I did probably for like an hour. I did watch
- 1:47Speaker 2: some stuff, but that's awesome.
- 1:49Speaker 3: Good for you, And yeah, I can't commit to that
- 1:54Speaker 3: kind of time.
- 1:55Speaker 2: Hear it. Well, what was I going to do?
- 1:57Speaker 3: I'm so busy doing nothing?
- 2:00Speaker 2: Dude. You're a man. You're a man about town.
- 2:03Speaker 3: You are, especially not lately.
- 2:07Speaker 2: How are you doing? You're feeling better?
- 2:08Speaker 3: I'm better. I do have a little bit of a cough,
- 2:10Speaker 3: so sorry. If I'm coughing a little bit during the thing,
- 2:13Speaker 3: I'll try to get them out. But also, you know,
- 2:15Speaker 3: I'm lazy, but ultimately much better than I have been.
- 2:20Speaker 2: I love tour.
- 2:21Speaker 3: That my trip. So we're feeling great, Bud, we're.
- 2:24Speaker 2: Feeling great, Upswing.
- 2:29Speaker 3: Yeah, how are you?
- 2:30Speaker 2: I'm good. We started this new start of a tour
- 2:35Speaker 2: called the Highways and High Seas Tour.
- 2:38Speaker 3: Hell yeah, the High Seas one of the groups I
- 2:40Speaker 3: was in on the cruise ships. I'll have you now.
- 2:43Speaker 2: I love that. I was like, that's so fun because
- 2:45Speaker 2: you know, people could think like the note or the
- 2:48Speaker 2: actual it's perfect. And yeah, and when you're on a
- 2:51Speaker 2: cruise ship, oh my god.
- 2:53Speaker 3: Oh it was great and we were forgettable. But your
- 2:56Speaker 3: tour has been going well.
- 2:57Speaker 2: It's been going well. We did three shows in Florida
- 3:00Speaker 2: so far, so it's been nice getting a little bit
- 3:02Speaker 2: of that that nice warm weather.
- 3:04Speaker 3: Hell yeah, get in getting in your skin a little
- 3:07Speaker 3: bit and I like it.
- 3:10Speaker 2: And we we've put some new stuff in the show
- 3:12Speaker 2: which has been fun.
- 3:14Speaker 3: Cool, but yeah, pretty good so far. I'm very excited
- 3:19Speaker 3: to see you guys in uh jack May Junction.
- 3:22Speaker 2: Yeah, and we got two shows in Saint Cloud too.
- 3:26Speaker 3: I will be at those, but my mom and my
- 3:28Speaker 3: sister and my sister in law and my brother will
- 3:31Speaker 3: all be at Jackpot Junction. Pal.
- 3:32Speaker 2: It's gonna love it. That's gonna be great.
- 3:35Speaker 3: My mom was like, are you gonna watch the show
- 3:36Speaker 3: with us? And I was like, maybe, maybe, maybe I might.
- 3:41Speaker 3: I haven't seen this new show so although I might
- 3:44Speaker 3: see it in St. Cloud, this isn't important to the
- 3:46Speaker 3: aster anyone. But I'm excited to see it because you
- 3:49Speaker 3: guys are the best. Got a home free music dot.
- 3:51Speaker 2: Com good man?
- 3:53Speaker 3: Yeah, check it out. What if a so other than
- 3:57Speaker 3: the you know working on this episode would have been watching.
- 4:01Speaker 2: Well, thank you for asking.
- 4:02Speaker 3: It was well done.
- 4:04Speaker 2: Yes, While I was in Nashville for rehearsals before the
- 4:10Speaker 2: start of our tour. We ended a little early one
- 4:12Speaker 2: of the nights and I decided to treat myself to
- 4:15Speaker 2: the new heist kind of drama crime one oh one.
- 4:20Speaker 3: Oh Yeah, What did you think of that.
- 4:21Speaker 2: One man, crazy stacked cast? Listen to this cast, you guys.
- 4:27Speaker 2: Chris Hemsworth, Mark Ruffalo, Halle Berry, Barry Keegan, Jennifer, Jason Leave.
- 4:33Speaker 2: Who's in it for four seconds?
- 4:35Speaker 3: Fourteen second? Ye?
- 4:37Speaker 2: Nick Nolty, who's in it for maybe a minute? Monica Barbero.
- 4:44Speaker 2: It was crazy, all the people, and I thought it
- 4:47Speaker 2: was pretty good. I kind of thought to myself, would
- 4:49Speaker 2: I have enjoyed this movie if it wouldn't have been
- 4:53Speaker 2: filled with all of these actors.
- 4:55Speaker 3: That I love.
- 4:55Speaker 2: I'm not sure. Yeah, I think it might have just
- 5:00Speaker 2: gone on a little too long. Possibly I did like it,
- 5:06Speaker 2: but I didn't like adore it. Yep, there were some
- 5:11Speaker 2: things I felt like they could have fleshed out a
- 5:14Speaker 2: few backstory things.
- 5:16Speaker 3: A little better. But overall, like the parts that.
- 5:21Speaker 2: Were like action E were really really cool.
- 5:24Speaker 3: Yeah, some cool cinematography too, I thought, Yeah they did.
- 5:28Speaker 3: They loved the spinning the camera a.
- 5:30Speaker 2: Bit that was I loved that that was their thing,
- 5:33Speaker 2: or like having the camera on a car door as
- 5:37Speaker 2: it would shut. They did that a few times I noticed.
- 5:40Speaker 3: I didn't notice that, But now that you say that, episodely.
- 5:43Speaker 2: That was interesting, which I don't think I've ever seen
- 5:45Speaker 2: that before.
- 5:46Speaker 3: It was really beautifully shot though in the spots. But yeah,
- 5:49Speaker 3: I kind of am with you. It just felt like, oh,
- 5:52Speaker 3: this was real close to being like really good. Yeah,
- 5:55Speaker 3: and it was good, but like, ah, you know, I
- 5:57Speaker 3: don't know, right, it was interesting. I think it was
- 5:59Speaker 3: that directors like first like big movie all but.
- 6:04Speaker 2: That's crazy, Like it was fun seeing all those folks.
- 6:10Speaker 2: Halle Berry was so good, She's wonderful, so great.
- 6:13Speaker 3: I wanted more from that character. I'm with you, sorry,
- 6:18Speaker 3: I'm just looking real quick at the director. Now that
- 6:19Speaker 3: I said that, there.
- 6:20Speaker 2: Was something latin, I feel like bart l Martin Layton Light.
- 6:28Speaker 3: It looks like he did a couple of movies, but
- 6:29Speaker 3: I've never seen any of these. Otherwise TV movies, TV
- 6:33Speaker 3: series called The Imposter American Animals. I didn't see either
- 6:37Speaker 3: of those. But I thought for our first first like
- 6:41Speaker 3: mainstream one, and like you said, with that crazy cast,
- 6:44Speaker 3: it was it was pretty compelling and it was a
- 6:45Speaker 3: fun watch. Nothing else, So yeah, I love that.
- 6:49Speaker 2: Yeah, I probably you would wait for streaming though for
- 6:53Speaker 2: that one. Yeah, I think that's what have you seen?
- 6:59Speaker 3: I watched a little film called Is This Thing? On
- 7:05Speaker 3: which Arnette the Bradley Cooper vehicle, I think, or at
- 7:09Speaker 3: least he directed it. Yep, And oh yeah he isn't it?
- 7:13Speaker 3: You're right. Will Arnett is the main character along with
- 7:17Speaker 3: Laura Dern. It's kind of a I feel like, a
- 7:21Speaker 3: well trodden kind of plot a little bit in that
- 7:26Speaker 3: the Laura Dern and Will Arnette are having like marital stuff.
- 7:29Speaker 3: They're in that sort of middle age of life and
- 7:32Speaker 3: they're doing like a separation and as they're sort of
- 7:36Speaker 3: trying to figure out what life looks like in that,
- 7:38Speaker 3: he goes in and does some comedy in the New
- 7:41Speaker 3: York comedy scene, and it's sort of about that along
- 7:44Speaker 3: with life, and it's interesting. I enjoyed it quite a bit.
- 7:48Speaker 3: I thought Arnett was really good. He was Lord Dern
- 7:51Speaker 3: is great in everything. As surprised by that, but I
- 7:55Speaker 3: thought Will Arnette was really good as just this kind
- 7:57Speaker 3: of straight part, which I don't know that I've ever
- 7:59Speaker 3: seen him, do you Yeah, that wasn't more comedy driven. Yeah.
- 8:05Speaker 3: I think this one kind of similar to Crime one
- 8:08Speaker 3: on one. Like liked it, didn't love it, but it
- 8:10Speaker 3: was definitely worth watching and was interesting and compelling.
- 8:14Speaker 2: I liked it a lot more than Crime one on one.
- 8:17Speaker 3: Oh really, okay, that's great, that's great.
- 8:19Speaker 2: I actually really enjoyed it.
- 8:20Speaker 3: Oh that's awesome. I don't know why the like, maybe
- 8:24Speaker 3: it just hit me at the wrong moment. It just
- 8:26Speaker 3: kind of bummed me out, like those like middle aged.
- 8:29Speaker 3: Maybe it's too too close to home or something. As
- 8:32Speaker 3: I go through my own divorce as we all.
- 8:34Speaker 2: Know, as we all know, just say where are you going?
- 8:39Speaker 3: What I was saying, just that sort of middle aged stuff.
- 8:43Speaker 3: I don't know. I did think it was good, it
- 8:46Speaker 3: just didn't I was just kind of like, oh, okay, cool,
- 8:48Speaker 3: that was interesting. It was fun seeing a bunch of comedians.
- 8:51Speaker 2: I was to say, that was cool, But how cool
- 8:54Speaker 2: is it that they got Sean Hayes and his husband
- 8:58Speaker 2: in there.
- 8:58Speaker 3: I did love that. I loved that and it was great.
- 9:02Speaker 2: If you listen to SmartLess, you always hear about Sean
- 9:05Speaker 2: and his husband Scottie. Yeah, and they got him in
- 9:08Speaker 2: that movie.
- 9:09Speaker 3: It took me a bit to figure out that with
- 9:10Speaker 3: Scotty and then I was like, oh, yeah, of course
- 9:13Speaker 3: like and it of course made me think about like, oh,
- 9:16Speaker 3: they must have had so much fun filming that, yeah,
- 9:18Speaker 3: you know, getting to hang out and what a great time. Yeah.
- 9:23Speaker 3: So I did love that that tons of cameos and stuff.
- 9:26Speaker 3: And I thought Bradley Cooper was good in it too.
- 9:29Speaker 3: He's always good, Yeah, he's just he's a compelling guy
- 9:32Speaker 3: to watch.
- 9:33Speaker 1: It was.
- 9:33Speaker 3: Yeah, So I don't know, check it out if you
- 9:36Speaker 3: want to see it. Rob liked it a little bit
- 9:37Speaker 3: more than I did, but we both think it worth
- 9:39Speaker 3: watching for sure. For sure, check it out. Have you
- 9:42Speaker 3: been streaming anything though?
- 9:44Speaker 2: I have? So I started up a series kind of
- 9:48Speaker 2: on a whim because I kept seeing ads for its
- 9:52Speaker 2: second season. I was like, you know what, I'm going
- 9:54Speaker 2: to go to watch the first season of that. It
- 9:57Speaker 2: was the series Paradise on.
- 9:59Speaker 3: Who you know they really have been plugging this series.
- 10:04Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, okay, I was seeing it everywhere.
- 10:07Speaker 3: Talk me into it because I've been on the fence
- 10:08Speaker 3: a little bit. I like it.
- 10:09Speaker 2: I was too, and I was like, you know what,
- 10:11Speaker 2: I really like Stirling King Brown. I'm going to check
- 10:13Speaker 2: it out.
- 10:13Speaker 3: Yeah, he's great.
- 10:15Speaker 2: After the first episode, I was hooked.
- 10:19Speaker 3: I like that.
- 10:22Speaker 2: It's really cool because so he's the secret Service agent.
- 10:26Speaker 2: He is a secret service agent for James Marsden is
- 10:29Speaker 2: the president, and he's so charismatic and wonderful. And I
- 10:35Speaker 2: don't really want to give too much of it away
- 10:38Speaker 2: because they kind of give you the whole spiel of
- 10:42Speaker 2: what the show is going to be after the first
- 10:44Speaker 2: like at the end of the first episode, Oh okay, cool, cool,
- 10:48Speaker 2: and it took like a big, you know, one eighty
- 10:51Speaker 2: turn and I was.
- 10:52Speaker 3: Like whoa, oh cool. So then I was like, yeah,
- 10:56Speaker 3: I'm in for sure.
- 10:57Speaker 2: And I don't know how I've missed what this show
- 11:00Speaker 2: is about, but I have.
- 11:03Speaker 3: I also have though, so I'm with you, like I've
- 11:05Speaker 3: e've been seeing all these things. I'm still like, Ah,
- 11:07Speaker 3: Shirley Kate Brown is in it. That's really all I know.
- 11:09Speaker 2: Yeah, right, so then and go into it like that
- 11:14Speaker 2: if you are going to watch it. But I ended
- 11:16Speaker 2: up just devouring that first season super quickly while we
- 11:21Speaker 2: were like doing rehearsals and stuff, like I don't know,
- 11:24Speaker 2: I would watch it and then I started the second
- 11:27Speaker 2: one up immediately. It starts off super cool, fun. So
- 11:32Speaker 2: I think they're only as we're recording this. There's only
- 11:34Speaker 2: four or five episodes out of the second season, but
- 11:38Speaker 2: highly recommend. I'm really enjoying it.
- 11:41Speaker 3: Love that.
- 11:42Speaker 2: Yeah, I love that.
- 11:43Speaker 3: You said it was a paradise on Hulu, right Hulu? Yeah,
- 11:48Speaker 3: I'll probably checkt that out. That's cool.
- 11:49Speaker 2: Yeah, it's really good.
- 11:51Speaker 3: It's kind of fun to be able to just stumble
- 11:53Speaker 3: into things still.
- 11:54Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, and I saw it was getting good reviews
- 11:58Speaker 2: and all that. And I think it's only eight episodes
- 12:01Speaker 2: the first season, so and they are longer, and they're
- 12:05Speaker 2: even longer for me because I don't pay for the
- 12:07Speaker 2: high subscription for so I get all the ads, which.
- 12:11Speaker 3: Sure, but yeah, I love it. Pretty cool.
- 12:16Speaker 2: Yeah, what about you? What have you been streaming?
- 12:18Speaker 3: I went to HBO I think is what it's called.
- 12:21Speaker 3: Who can keep track? But I watched the entirety of
- 12:25Speaker 3: A Night of the Seven Kingdoms kind of just in.
- 12:29Speaker 2: Like a day or two, and I've missed this whole thing.
- 12:34Speaker 2: I don't.
- 12:34Speaker 3: Yeah, it's the new one, basically the tales from the
- 12:38Speaker 3: novella's dunkn Egg I think is what the nobellas are called.
- 12:42Speaker 3: Maybe it is seven Kingdoms, it doesn't matter.
- 12:45Speaker 2: It's it's a it's like a spinoff of Game of Thrones.
- 12:48Speaker 3: Yes, yep. It takes place between House of the Dragon
- 12:52Speaker 3: and Game of Thrones.
- 12:55Speaker 2: Chopper.
- 12:56Speaker 3: It's like one hundred years I think before the like
- 13:00Speaker 3: Game of Thrones, timeline starts. Really interesting, pretty compelling show.
- 13:08Speaker 3: I wasn't I was kind of like mad about it,
- 13:10Speaker 3: to be honest, but the episodes are short, it's got
- 13:13Speaker 3: a lot of heart to it, and it's it's just
- 13:17Speaker 3: really interesting. I really liked it a lot. I ended
- 13:19Speaker 3: up really enjoying it a ton. It's definitely a lot
- 13:22Speaker 3: more about like that if you like that sort of
- 13:25Speaker 3: like nights and chivalry and like honor codes and stuff
- 13:29Speaker 3: like that, inside of the sort of Game of the Throne,
- 13:33Speaker 3: Game of the Thrones universe. I think you'll enjoy the show.
- 13:38Speaker 3: It's really well done and super interesting, so I'm excited
- 13:42Speaker 3: to see what they do with it. I had a
- 13:44Speaker 3: good time.
- 13:44Speaker 2: You liked it more than House of the Dragon because
- 13:48Speaker 2: I didn't really get into that show.
- 13:50Speaker 3: Yeah, I think I do. It is a smaller scope,
- 13:56Speaker 3: but that means it can be like a little more
- 13:58Speaker 3: intimate and a little more lighthearted, which I enjoy generally speaking,
- 14:02Speaker 3: I liked I like House of the Dragon. I read
- 14:06Speaker 3: all those books or whatever. But excuse me, yeah, I'm
- 14:12Speaker 3: kind of with you. I did like it more than
- 14:14Speaker 3: House of Dragon. I think that's fair to say. Okay, cool,
- 14:17Speaker 3: And it sounds like there could be a ton of
- 14:19Speaker 3: seasons of this And because it's cheaper to make, because
- 14:25Speaker 3: it's like a little more paired down, it seems like
- 14:29Speaker 3: it's probably got like so check it out if you're
- 14:31Speaker 3: looking for a long term commitment.
- 14:33Speaker 2: I love it.
- 14:34Speaker 3: Yeah, Yeah, it's been really fun. I've enjoyed it for sure.
- 14:37Speaker 2: Good.
- 14:38Speaker 3: Nice. Well what do you think should we do if
- 14:39Speaker 3: you plug runs?
- 14:41Speaker 2: Yes?

- 15:25Speaker 3: Hell yeah.
- 15:26Speaker 2: Another perk that we'll give our patrons is an extended
- 15:29Speaker 2: version of every single episode that we put out, we'll
- 15:33Speaker 2: do a top five draft that pertains to the movie
- 15:36Speaker 2: we're talking about, or Oscars predictions, episodes, which whatever. And
- 15:42Speaker 2: for this one, we decided to do our top five
- 15:45Speaker 2: favorite Best Supporting Actress Oscar winners Boom.
- 15:52Speaker 3: Some really great performances in.
- 15:54Speaker 2: There, wonderful performances. Both Bukes and I were talking about
- 15:58Speaker 2: before this that pre two thousand, I haven't seen a
- 16:02Speaker 2: lot of Best Supporting Actress Oscar winners.
- 16:05Speaker 3: But it's tough in there for me. Yeah, it's okay,
- 16:08Speaker 3: it's all right, right, that's all right, but great performances.
- 16:13Speaker 3: So yes, we will look forward to that, Greg. But
- 16:16Speaker 3: we're here today to predict for the twenty twenty six
- 16:20Speaker 3: Oscar season. Yeah, Oscar should be fun we're going to
- 16:25Speaker 3: go through each category, we'll name the nominees. It'll be great, it'd.
- 16:30Speaker 2: Be so much fun.
- 16:30Speaker 3: Should probably talk about I should get the the slips
- 16:34Speaker 3: out if people want to play along for the grouseciest. Yes,
- 16:37Speaker 3: I forgot about that. I was meaning to talk to
- 16:39Speaker 3: you very moment, so we'll make sure that can happen
- 16:42Speaker 3: as well. Patroon dot com slash the v enjorsement. If
- 16:46Speaker 3: you want to participate in that, I guess, or you
- 16:49Speaker 3: can do it anyway. I don't really remember. It's fine.
- 16:52Speaker 3: Do you want to go first? You want me to
- 16:53Speaker 3: go first? What do you think.
- 16:55Speaker 2: I want you to go first?
- 16:58Speaker 3: Okay, great, Well, in the honor of our draft that
- 17:02Speaker 3: we are going to be doing, we're gonna start with
- 17:03Speaker 3: best Supporting Actress.
- 17:05Speaker 2: I'm interested to hear where we want to win here.
- 17:08Speaker 3: I know, I'm so excited. Let's do the nominees first.
- 17:11Speaker 3: We have l Fanning from Sentimental Value, inga IBB's daughter Lilias.
- 17:18Speaker 3: Certainly that's right from sentimental Value as well, Amy Madigan
- 17:21Speaker 3: from Weapons Won Me Musaku from Sinners, and Tehana Taylor
- 17:26Speaker 3: from One Battle after Another. This might be the most
- 17:30Speaker 3: stacked category. We have. No, that's probably not true. Yeah,
- 17:35Speaker 3: this is This is though. There's not a lot of
- 17:38Speaker 3: stinkers out here, and there's some big swings, so like,
- 17:43Speaker 3: not every movie is for everyone, I feel like, but
- 17:45Speaker 3: everything's pretty great. I what I want to win and
- 17:49Speaker 3: what I think will win is Amy Madigan from Weapons.
- 17:54Speaker 2: Both you want it to win and your pickure Wanton.
- 17:57Speaker 3: I think she will. It's a It's an out of
- 18:00Speaker 3: nowhere performance, at least to me, and I think people
- 18:04Speaker 3: are going to feel the same way. And I just
- 18:06Speaker 3: think she was so creepy and great in that role.
- 18:09Speaker 3: I just love it, So I hope she wins. I
- 18:11Speaker 3: don't know, what do you think?
- 18:13Speaker 2: It feels like it's kind of a three way race
- 18:17Speaker 2: between Amy Madigan, Teyana Taylor, and Mausaku. I think the
- 18:23Speaker 2: sentiment of value women were incredible, but I think they
- 18:26Speaker 2: kind of cancel each other out.
- 18:28Speaker 3: I agree. If I had to pick between them, I
- 18:31Speaker 3: think I would pick Inga even though Elle was great, she.
- 18:34Speaker 2: Was great, See, I would have picked the other one.
- 18:36Speaker 3: So I think that's how voters are going to be.
- 18:38Speaker 2: I'm with you. So I think this, honestly is maybe
- 18:43Speaker 2: the toughest category to determine who is going to win. Oh, okay,
- 18:48Speaker 2: but we are one for one. I'm also picking Amy
- 18:52Speaker 2: Madigan here. I would not be mad at Masaku getting
- 18:57Speaker 2: it from Sinners. She was incredible good.
- 19:01Speaker 3: I wouldn't be mad at Tana Taylor either. I thought
- 19:02Speaker 3: she was great. She was great.
- 19:04Speaker 2: I just felt like she was not on screen for
- 19:07Speaker 2: a ton of time, more of a limited role for sure,
- 19:09Speaker 2: And most of these people weren't, you know, run for
- 19:13Speaker 2: like a super long time, but Amy had again just
- 19:17Speaker 2: completely crushed her small screen time. One of the most terrifying,
- 19:23Speaker 2: crazy characters I've ever seen.
- 19:26Speaker 3: That movie is so bonkers too, And.
- 19:30Speaker 2: Yeah, I'm really hoping she wins it, I think too.
- 19:33Speaker 3: And I think it'll mean a ton to It would
- 19:35Speaker 3: mean a ton to all of them, I think. But yeah,
- 19:37Speaker 3: I feel she's been around for a long time, having success,
- 19:40Speaker 3: then kind of you know, less notable success, and then
- 19:43Speaker 3: coming back. I feel like that's always a great story.
- 19:46Speaker 2: That Yeah, kind of a key who won a little
- 19:49Speaker 2: bit right less of a time, you know.
- 19:53Speaker 3: Jump probably, But yeah, yeah, I love that. Nice. It's
- 19:57Speaker 3: probably good for me when we match, because you usually
- 19:59Speaker 3: kicked my But it's probably a win for me.
- 20:03Speaker 2: There you go. Now, this category I think is a
- 20:07Speaker 2: little more It's not as much of a race, but
- 20:11Speaker 2: we'll see the best supporting actor. We have Benicio del
- 20:16Speaker 2: Toro from One Battle after Another, Jacob Elordi from Frankenstein,
- 20:22Speaker 2: Delroy Lindo from Sinners, Sean Penn from One Battle after Another,
- 20:28Speaker 2: and Stelen scars Guard for sent Mental scars cars Guard.
- 20:36Speaker 2: I always thought that'd be a good pirate name.
- 20:38Speaker 3: Yea.
- 20:40Speaker 2: Now this one, to me feels like it's Sean Penn's award. However,
- 20:43Speaker 2: I do think it's kind of a race between Sean
- 20:46Speaker 2: Penn and Stellan scars Guard. Him playing that ridiculous character. Uh.
- 20:53Speaker 2: He was all over the place in that movie, like
- 20:56Speaker 2: Captain Lockjar or something. From one Battle after another. I'm
- 21:02Speaker 2: going to give him the award. I think he's gonna
- 21:05Speaker 2: get it, although I think Stone Scarsgard is a close second.
- 21:09Speaker 2: That is my thoughts.
- 21:11Speaker 3: I respect that that's not what I have, so it
- 21:15Speaker 3: probably means that you're right.
- 21:16Speaker 2: I love that.
- 21:18Speaker 3: I didn't really like Seanpann's character in that movie. I
- 21:21Speaker 3: felt like it was a little bit.
- 21:22Speaker 2: Of a.
- 21:26Speaker 3: Movie.
- 21:26Speaker 2: You're right, You're right, he's way more of a rob
- 21:31Speaker 2: character something he would really enjoy.
- 21:35Speaker 3: We really identify with that, right, No, that's not what
- 21:39Speaker 3: I meant. I'm so sorry. I just thought that was
- 21:43Speaker 3: a little like I don't know, maybe I just hated him,
- 21:47Speaker 3: so that's why I do like, oh, he's horrible, and
- 21:51Speaker 3: again not saying you didn't, so I like that to
- 21:53Speaker 3: be very clear. I think it's Benicio del Toro from
- 21:57Speaker 3: one battle after another, and that's kind of what I
- 21:59Speaker 3: want to win.
- 22:00Speaker 2: So maybe he was my most favorite out of all,
- 22:03Speaker 2: like that was my favorite acting performance. I loved his
- 22:07Speaker 2: character in that.
- 22:09Speaker 3: I just think he's like a charisma bomb. I hear you. Again,
- 22:12Speaker 3: You're probably right. Stealing Scar's guard is wonderful and sentimental value.
- 22:17Speaker 2: He's so good in it, dude, I hear you.
- 22:19Speaker 3: I also feel like there's a lot of love for
- 22:22Speaker 3: Delroy Lindo, who I do respect greatly. Same, I didn't
- 22:27Speaker 3: think he wasn't in Centers very long, So that's a little.
- 22:30Speaker 2: That is my only issue too, because he is one
- 22:32Speaker 2: of my favorite actors out there, and I love that
- 22:34Speaker 2: he got an Academy Award nomination. However, I'm also shocked
- 22:39Speaker 2: that he got that over Paul Mescal Like I'm just
- 22:42Speaker 2: it's bonkers.
- 22:43Speaker 3: Especially when yeah, when you compare those two. But yeah,
- 22:49Speaker 3: if they gave it to him as sort of like
- 22:51Speaker 3: a lifetime achievement thing like I'm which I'm into, I
- 22:54Speaker 3: ain't gonna be mad about it either.
- 22:56Speaker 2: I'm not mad about it either, but yeah, I guess.
- 22:58Speaker 3: I'm probably just letting my heart do the voting. Benicio Deltoro,
- 23:01Speaker 3: That's what I'm I'm going with. I love that it's
- 23:03Speaker 3: gonna win, and I want And.
- 23:05Speaker 2: We didn't say his name, but Jacob Elordi. He had
- 23:07Speaker 2: to act his ass off. Yes, Frankenstein.
- 23:11Speaker 3: I just watched that yesterday. That was like my last one. Yeah,
- 23:15Speaker 3: I only missed a few this year, but that was
- 23:17Speaker 3: the last one I saw. And I was like, man,
- 23:19Speaker 3: this movie is I mean, well number one, it's it's
- 23:22Speaker 3: very yucky because there's like so much stuff going on
- 23:26Speaker 3: and you're most crazy but really well done. And I
- 23:29Speaker 3: thought I thought everyone in it was really good. I
- 23:32Speaker 3: really liked that movie.
- 23:33Speaker 2: But dude, that role, Yeah, it was crazy and so cringey. Dude,
- 23:38Speaker 2: like that could have been bad.
- 23:40Speaker 3: Honestly, the first kill thing we see of him, I
- 23:42Speaker 3: was like, uh oh yeah. And then fleshed out from
- 23:46Speaker 3: there obviously, which was kind of part of it.
- 23:48Speaker 2: But he did a great job.
- 23:50Speaker 3: And yeah, I'm with you, I'm with you. He was
- 23:52Speaker 3: really good.
- 23:53Speaker 2: All Right, we differ after two. I love it.
- 23:55Speaker 3: It's not a good sign for me. Let's jump ahead
- 23:58Speaker 3: to best actress.
- 24:01Speaker 2: We're going to align on this one.
- 24:02Speaker 3: I know it. Yeah, I think so. Jesse Buckley from Hamnet,
- 24:06Speaker 3: Rose Byurn from If I had Legs, I'd Kick You,
- 24:09Speaker 3: Kate Hudson in Song Sung Blue Shoot. I was gonna
- 24:13Speaker 3: look up how to actually say her name. Raanat want
- 24:15Speaker 3: to see from sentimental value, that's definitely right.
- 24:19Speaker 2: And Emma, she was wonderful from Bogonia.
- 24:22Speaker 3: Everyone in this is great, although I will say I
- 24:25Speaker 3: didn't If I had legs, I'd Kick You was a
- 24:28Speaker 3: movie I wanted to see and could just never talk
- 24:31Speaker 3: myself into going through it because it seemed like a bummer.
- 24:34Speaker 2: I didn't get it. Oh really, okay, I didn't get
- 24:38Speaker 2: it at all. It did absolutely nothing for me.
- 24:42Speaker 3: Bummer.
- 24:43Speaker 2: Yeah, and she's good. I'm sure, like, oh, she's wonderful,
- 24:47Speaker 2: but that just the movie as a whole didn't do
- 24:50Speaker 2: anything for me.
- 24:51Speaker 3: Well, I'm not sad. I missed it then because honestly,
- 24:54Speaker 3: I was like, looking at it the last like three days,
- 24:57Speaker 3: I've been like, I really should watch this. She's up,
- 24:59Speaker 3: and then I was it doesn't look fun. I don't
- 25:01Speaker 3: want to do that, so it's not fun.
- 25:04Speaker 2: It's really weird.
- 25:06Speaker 3: The person I want to win and the person I
- 25:08Speaker 3: think will win are the same for this one, and
- 25:10Speaker 3: I'm selecting Jesse Buckley from Hamnet.
- 25:13Speaker 2: This is the only like home Run, this is the
- 25:16Speaker 2: only one where I feel extremely confident she will win
- 25:19Speaker 2: the Academy Award. I think it's the easiest category.
- 25:24Speaker 3: She's perfect, but she is insane in that.
- 25:28Speaker 2: I feel so bad for Kate Hudson because she this
- 25:31Speaker 2: is her best movie she's done acting wise.
- 25:34Speaker 3: That movie, by the way, yeah hit me out of
- 25:37Speaker 3: left field. I didn't know what to expect, and yeah,
- 25:40Speaker 3: particularly I won't ruin it. But when she's planting some
- 25:43Speaker 3: things in the front yard, I screamed out loud rap.
- 25:47Speaker 2: Yeah yeah, crazy, terrified me, terrifying.
- 25:51Speaker 3: Really great movie and she was awesome.
- 25:53Speaker 2: Yeah, she was incredible in it. I was like, oh no,
- 25:57Speaker 2: but also going to lose to Jesse Buckley, I'm not
- 26:00Speaker 2: so close.
- 26:01Speaker 3: I don't think which is such a bummer.
- 26:03Speaker 2: She was so good in it and a lot of years.
- 26:08Speaker 3: So good, incredible. I feel less bad for her because
- 26:12Speaker 3: she's obviously one she keeps doing, you know, like it's fine,
- 26:16Speaker 3: She's going to be fine. But yeah, I'm with you.
- 26:19Speaker 3: I think Jesse Buckley, if she doesn't win, I will
- 26:22Speaker 3: be kind of shocked that shot, dude. Yeah, it would
- 26:25Speaker 3: be a little bit shocked for sure.
- 26:26Speaker 2: She it was such a devastating role and she oh
- 26:33Speaker 2: my god, she was incredible.
- 26:35Speaker 3: Like what does our buddy Benny say? She tore my
- 26:37Speaker 3: heart straight out of my butt? You know, yeah, that's
- 26:41Speaker 3: exactly right she did.
- 26:43Speaker 2: And to the point where I felt like, and I
- 26:46Speaker 2: may have heard somebody say this, I can't remember, but
- 26:49Speaker 2: like at one point I was just like, she's a
- 26:54Speaker 2: mom going through Like it felt like I wasn't watching
- 26:56Speaker 2: somebody act like, oh no.
- 26:59Speaker 3: Why aren't we why are we putting a camera in
- 27:03Speaker 3: your face? Or whatever? Yeah, she's I mean, that whole
- 27:06Speaker 3: movie is gorgeous and hard, but like a great example
- 27:11Speaker 3: of how a movie can be very serious and heavy
- 27:13Speaker 3: but also gorgeous. Yeah, if it's done the right way. Yeah, yeah,
- 27:19Speaker 3: I'd be genuinely shocked. If she doesn't win, same and
- 27:22Speaker 3: kind of a little annoyed.
- 27:24Speaker 2: I think, no, she deserves it. Home usually doesn't happen
- 27:27Speaker 2: with you to be She's going to be one of
- 27:30Speaker 2: our best actresses for a very long time. She's incredible.
- 27:33Speaker 3: Honestly, I feel like she's gonna be until she's like
- 27:36Speaker 3: I don't give it about this anymore or something, you know,
- 27:39Speaker 3: like I'm gonna go to play with my gardener hangout
- 27:42Speaker 3: because she just seems so cool.
- 27:44Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, I'm with you. Nice, love that nice. Let's
- 27:49Speaker 2: move on. This is a tougher one. We have best Actor.
- 27:52Speaker 3: Yeah, I had hard time with this one.
- 27:54Speaker 2: We got Timothy Challameat from Marty Supreme, Leonardo di Caprio
- 28:00Speaker 2: for one Battle after another. We have Ethan Hawk from
- 28:04Speaker 2: Blue Moon, Michael B. Jordan for Sinners, and Wagner Mura
- 28:10Speaker 2: for the Secret Agent.
- 28:11Speaker 3: Hell.
- 28:11Speaker 2: Yeah, tougher one. Now. If you would have asked me
- 28:16Speaker 2: a few months ago, I would have said it's for
- 28:20Speaker 2: sure going to be Timothy Shallomey from Marty Supreme. Really,
- 28:24Speaker 2: but the more he talks publicly, he dig him. He
- 28:29Speaker 2: may have talked his way out of out of an
- 28:32Speaker 2: oscar this year.
- 28:33Speaker 3: Now, this is a question I have Rob can I
- 28:36Speaker 3: interject for just a moment. I don't know if you
- 28:38Speaker 3: know this, when do they actually vote? I don't know this, Okay,
- 28:43Speaker 3: I don't either. I keep thinking because I like his
- 28:46Speaker 3: press recently with like the ballet stuff, which yeah, is
- 28:50Speaker 3: like kind of dumb, but also like not that big
- 28:52Speaker 3: of a deal. I feel like what he said, but
- 28:55Speaker 3: I was like, Okay, yeah, people do seem to be
- 28:58Speaker 3: getting annoyed with him, but like, when is that vote cast?
- 29:01Speaker 3: I don't even you know, like ken it even still impacted.
- 29:03Speaker 2: I don't know. But a lot of people also are
- 29:06Speaker 2: just not enjoying how he's like, I want to be
- 29:09Speaker 2: one of the greats, which yeah, I don't think that's
- 29:11Speaker 2: like a bad thing to say, but it's also just
- 29:15Speaker 2: like you're not really coming up for a likable yeah,
- 29:18Speaker 2: like just say I just helped the work speaks for
- 29:20Speaker 2: itself or something, you know, yeah, you know the can
- 29:23Speaker 2: answer a little bit like right, so yeah, but yeah.
- 29:30Speaker 2: On the other hand, I think Michael B. Jordan has
- 29:33Speaker 2: been getting a ton of love over how he and
- 29:38Speaker 2: Delroy Lindo dealt with the unfortunate occurrence that happened at
- 29:40Speaker 2: the BAFTAs he played Twins and was completely incredible in
- 29:47Speaker 2: that movie. I'm going to pick Michael B. Jordan, but wow,
- 29:52Speaker 2: it could very easily go to Timothy shell May, So
- 29:55Speaker 2: that is that is I'm picking mbj That is.
- 29:59Speaker 3: Also who I picked kind of the same thing. I
- 30:04Speaker 3: felt like, actually really close to the same. Shallman I
- 30:07Speaker 3: felt like had the buzz and then has talked himself
- 30:11Speaker 3: out of it a little bit. Uh, it wouldn't shock
- 30:14Speaker 3: me if Ethan Hawk won just because Blue Moon is
- 30:18Speaker 3: such a talkie like script heavy and he's really great
- 30:22Speaker 3: in it, So that wouldn't shock me, I guess. And
- 30:27Speaker 3: I think people liked Secret Agent more than I did personally.
- 30:31Speaker 3: I liked it, didn't love it personally, but that guy
- 30:35Speaker 3: was really good, so he was good. You know, Wagoner
- 30:38Speaker 3: was really great. I look forward to seeing him in
- 30:40Speaker 3: more stuffs. So but yeah, I think Michael B. Jordan.
- 30:43Speaker 3: He plays the two parts, which is always kind of compelling.
- 30:46Speaker 3: I feel like, I feel like we could come away
- 30:48Speaker 3: from this with sinners like cleaning up pretty good. So yeah,
- 30:53Speaker 3: I'm kind of writing that momentum too.
- 30:54Speaker 2: Leo is always good. I don't think I don't think
- 30:58Speaker 2: this is maybe an Oscar winning role for him.
- 31:00Speaker 3: It felt like he is victim a little bit to
- 31:04Speaker 3: just always being good, kind of like you said that,
- 31:06Speaker 3: It's like, does this one stand out? I don't know,
- 31:10Speaker 3: you know, like a little bit. I really liked him.
- 31:12Speaker 3: I like that movie a lot. But yeah, I'm with you,
- 31:15Speaker 3: I hear you.
- 31:16Speaker 2: Yeah. Nice.
- 31:17Speaker 3: Well we both agree on that one again. When for me,
- 31:21Speaker 3: let's go to best adapted screenplay. Now we have Will
- 31:25Speaker 3: Tracy for Pogonia, Guermo del Toro for Frankenstein or Frankenstein
- 31:31Speaker 3: depending on pronunciation, Chloe Shao and Maggie O'Farrell for Hamnet,
- 31:35Speaker 3: Paul Thomas Anderson for One Battle after Another, and Clint
- 31:39Speaker 3: Bentley and Greg Quadar from Train Dreams. And I had
- 31:46Speaker 3: Will Tracy and Bogonia for this one. I don't feel
- 31:49Speaker 3: crazy strongly about it because this is They're all really good.
- 31:53Speaker 3: I always have a hard time with adapted screenplay because
- 31:56Speaker 3: I've never read the source material for most of these things, right,
- 32:02Speaker 3: But Bogoni was such a wild story. I was just like,
- 32:06Speaker 3: you know, actually, maybe it is that, and that's how
- 32:09Speaker 3: I kind of talked myself into it. I thought Guillermo's
- 32:14Speaker 3: interpretation of Frankenstein was really interesting and fun.
- 32:17Speaker 2: So I could never seen anything like that.
- 32:19Speaker 3: I could see that, but I kind of feel that
- 32:22Speaker 3: way about all these, to be honest, So I just
- 32:24Speaker 3: went with the weirdest one, and I.
- 32:26Speaker 2: Went with I think this is Paul Thomas Anderson's here
- 32:35Speaker 2: that that's great that dude has not won an Academy
- 32:38Speaker 2: Award and.
- 32:40Speaker 3: I didn't know that, and that makes me think he
- 32:43Speaker 3: should win.
- 32:43Speaker 2: Then, Okay, I think he is going to clean up
- 32:48Speaker 2: this oscars. I love that, and I think it's kind
- 32:50Speaker 2: of not only was the movie incredible, but I think
- 32:55Speaker 2: it's gonna be a oh this guy deserves some previous
- 33:00Speaker 2: Academy award. What are we doing a little bit like,
- 33:03Speaker 2: how does this guy not have an Academy award? The
- 33:05Speaker 2: fact that he doesn't have one for There Will Be
- 33:07Speaker 2: Blood is crazy to me. Even though that movie just
- 33:12Speaker 2: it was such a bummer.
- 33:13Speaker 3: Yeah, I never want to but it was really well done.
- 33:17Speaker 2: Yeah, I hear you. So I think that they make
- 33:19Speaker 2: up for it. I think he is definitely winning Best
- 33:22Speaker 2: adapt to Screenplay.
- 33:23Speaker 3: Like that take. I like it so much. Then it
- 33:24Speaker 3: makes me mad. I picked something else, so good for you,
- 33:27Speaker 3: thank you. I really like that Trained Dreams, beautiful movie.
- 33:31Speaker 2: By the way, beautiful movie. That one really stuck with me.
- 33:36Speaker 2: Me too, it bummed me out a lot. That one
- 33:41Speaker 2: in Hamnet, like really really stuck with me.
- 33:45Speaker 3: That's really funny because I remember us talking about trained
- 33:47Speaker 3: dreams and I was like, yeah, yes.
- 33:49Speaker 2: And also it wasn't on the same level as.
- 33:53Speaker 3: Hopeful somehow, I don't know. I don't know why. He
- 33:56Speaker 3: is like a bummer in kind of a great way
- 33:59Speaker 3: for some reason. Yeah, And so much of that, right
- 34:03Speaker 3: is just like what were you doing the second you
- 34:05Speaker 3: watch that? I'm you know, but yeah, it's just funny
- 34:09Speaker 3: how things hit us differently. But yeah, for that one,
- 34:12Speaker 3: for some reason, I was just like, what a lovely thing.
- 34:15Speaker 2: It was beautiful though, ye, beautifully shot, Yeah, for sure.
- 34:20Speaker 2: The soundtrack was great or score rather okay, So we
- 34:25Speaker 2: differ there again different there. Let's go to best original screenplay.
- 34:31Speaker 2: Fun We have Blue Moon from Robert Caplo. It was
- 34:37Speaker 2: just an accident written by Jafar Panahi and I have
- 34:42Speaker 2: not seen this, which I'm upset about.
- 34:45Speaker 3: Really good check it, definitely, and.
- 34:47Speaker 2: I'm bummed out that I haven't seen it yet. Marty
- 34:50Speaker 2: Supreme written by Ronald Bronstein and Josh safty sentimental value
- 34:57Speaker 2: written by a skill vote and Joachim Trier, and I
- 35:02Speaker 2: think I'm saying Joaqim, it might be Joe Akeem. I'm
- 35:08Speaker 2: not sure.
- 35:08Speaker 3: I don't know either, So.
- 35:12Speaker 2: Okay, cool. I think that they have done another amazing movie,
- 35:17Speaker 2: but I'm not sure. And let's go to uh And
- 35:20Speaker 2: then also Sinners written by Ryan Kugler. Absolutely, and I
- 35:27Speaker 2: think this is definitely going to Ryan Kugler for Sinners.
- 35:31Speaker 3: I feel like that one. That's a little bit of
- 35:32Speaker 3: a no brainer, a little bit such an interesting story idea,
- 35:37Speaker 3: a mixture of different like story idea, I don't know,
- 35:40Speaker 3: very it just feels very original. That was kind of
- 35:43Speaker 3: my thing I kept going back to. I was just like, yeah,
- 35:46Speaker 3: that's great. Yeah, a bunch of a bunch of great movies.
- 35:50Speaker 3: But yeah, I'm with you. You're really gonna like it
- 35:53Speaker 3: was just an accident.
- 35:55Speaker 2: Yeah, I'm excited for that. And yeah, the Joe Keem
- 35:59Speaker 2: or or Joachim did the Worst person in the world
- 36:03Speaker 2: as well.
- 36:04Speaker 3: Oh show, that's right, we talked about that.
- 36:07Speaker 2: Yeah, so I was right with that.
- 36:10Speaker 3: Good work. Sorry, I'm just I'm looking up I want
- 36:13Speaker 3: to know how to pronounce this gentleman's name, thank you leasehold.
- 36:20Speaker 3: Oh they say j Jachim.
- 36:23Speaker 2: The oh you I would never.
- 36:26Speaker 3: I don't know what it so is that like French?
- 36:29Speaker 2: Then well it's from this one was from Norway at
- 36:34Speaker 2: least that's right, So he might be Norwegian, but I
- 36:38Speaker 2: don't know that for sure.
- 36:39Speaker 3: That's what this one YouTube video says. And if we've
- 36:44Speaker 3: learned anything over the years, it's implicitly trust YouTube videos.
- 36:47Speaker 2: So I think always.
- 36:50Speaker 3: I guess that's what we're going with.
- 36:52Speaker 2: But all that to be said, we're both picking sinners.
- 36:55Speaker 3: Yeah, that's Ryan Googler's thing for sure.
- 36:58Speaker 2: Yeah, he's gonna clean up.
- 36:59Speaker 3: Good for him. Let's go to Best Animated Feature. We have.
- 37:04Speaker 3: The nominees for this one are arco Ilio, K Pop
- 37:09Speaker 3: Demon Hunters, Little Amile or Character of Rain, and Zutopia
- 37:13Speaker 3: two Yeah, fun category. I didn't see all these. I
- 37:19Speaker 3: missed two of them, which bums me out. I usually
- 37:22Speaker 3: try to see all those. I think K Pop Demon
- 37:26Speaker 3: Hunters is gonna win. I kind of wanted to. It
- 37:29Speaker 3: was way more compelling than I thought it would be.
- 37:31Speaker 3: And I think that movie was kind of a cultural
- 37:34Speaker 3: smash hit a little bit more than the others. So
- 37:38Speaker 3: I'm gonna go with that one one.
- 37:40Speaker 2: Hundred percent right there with you. We agree again. It
- 37:44Speaker 2: was a phenomenon, one of the biggest successes of the year.
- 37:47Speaker 3: Did you kidd us get into that at all?
- 37:49Speaker 2: They got super into Okay, cool.
- 37:51Speaker 3: I couldn't remember if we had talked about that or not.
- 37:53Speaker 3: That's fun.
- 37:53Speaker 2: They got super into it, and you know, it's really dumb,
- 37:56Speaker 2: tell me everything. I never saw it, and really I
- 38:01Speaker 2: only saw as Utope you too, out of that whole category.
- 38:04Speaker 3: So I watched Ilio a couple of days ago, pretty recently.
- 38:09Speaker 3: Very fun movie, very delightfully made.
- 38:12Speaker 2: My kids weren't as into it when I was out
- 38:15Speaker 2: of town. They did not like it, but they weren't
- 38:18Speaker 2: like it was awesome.
- 38:20Speaker 3: It's uh, it's it's more of like a heart touching one,
- 38:25Speaker 3: like a little it's a tinge of extra sadness, even
- 38:28Speaker 3: for Pixar. But I really did enjoy it. Okay, that
- 38:32Speaker 3: was fun. I haven't seen Arco or Little Omilie though,
- 38:36Speaker 3: same bummer. Yeah yeah, k Pop Demon Hunter, I think
- 38:40Speaker 3: is uh that one feels like it could be a
- 38:42Speaker 3: runaway a.
- 38:42Speaker 2: Little bit well, and that kind of goes well into
- 38:46Speaker 2: our next category, Best Original Song. We have Dear Me
- 38:52Speaker 2: from Diane Warren, Relentless by Diane Warren. They have Golden
- 38:57Speaker 2: from K pop demon Hunters. We have I Lied to
- 39:01Speaker 2: You from Sinners, and that was by Rafael Sadik, who
- 39:05Speaker 2: I don't know if you're familiar with him, but he's awesome.
- 39:09Speaker 2: He was also in I want to say Tony Tony
- 39:12Speaker 2: Tony as well.
- 39:13Speaker 3: I think that's right.
- 39:16Speaker 2: It was him and Ludwig Gorenson. It was great. We
- 39:20Speaker 2: got Sweet Dreams of Joy from Viva Verdi.
- 39:25Speaker 3: I didn't know that that one. I didn't know that
- 39:27Speaker 3: movie at all.
- 39:28Speaker 2: Same and then we have Trained Dreams from Trained Dreams
- 39:31Speaker 2: music by Nick Cave and Bryce Destner. So yeah, I
- 39:36Speaker 2: didn't even listen to the other nominated songs. It's going
- 39:39Speaker 2: to Golden, It's not going to be closed. I've heard
- 39:41Speaker 2: that song roughly five hundred times. Although I didn't see
- 39:45Speaker 2: the movie, I did hear that soundtrack a gad jillion times.
- 39:49Speaker 3: I feel like, if it is that big of a hit,
- 39:52Speaker 3: it's got to go to that right, Like, yeah, I
- 39:54Speaker 3: don't know what we're it would be weird if it
- 39:57Speaker 3: didn't kind of right now.
- 39:59Speaker 2: I loved the Nick cave Trained Dreams just him throughout.
- 40:03Speaker 2: That was awesome, But Golden was a phenomenon and the music.
- 40:08Speaker 3: From Sinners just in general was great, so I'm sure
- 40:11Speaker 3: it was agreed, super super fun. I don't remember that song,
- 40:15Speaker 3: particularly Sinners is hard because it came out quite a
- 40:19Speaker 3: while ago, so I'm like, yeah, I should have rewatched it.
- 40:22Speaker 3: Maybe maybe I will love that. We both said what
- 40:27Speaker 3: we thought, right, So we can move to Best International Film.
- 40:30Speaker 3: Now we have first the Secret Agent from Brazil. It
- 40:36Speaker 3: was just an accident from France, Sentimental Value from Norway,
- 40:41Speaker 3: Sirat from Spain, and then the Voice of hind Rajab
- 40:46Speaker 3: from Tunisia. And I think this is a hard one
- 40:50Speaker 3: because there's three of these. I've only seen the first three,
- 40:54Speaker 3: but they're all really good. I think it's going to
- 40:56Speaker 3: go to the Secret Agent from Brazil. That's what I
- 41:00Speaker 3: think is gonna win.
- 41:02Speaker 2: I mean, it got nominated the most yeah, and I think.
- 41:06Speaker 3: That might be the only thing it wins, you know,
- 41:08Speaker 3: and not that that always means something, but I could
- 41:11Speaker 3: see if I were a voter that would.
- 41:12Speaker 2: Mean something to me too, So yep, I get that.
- 41:16Speaker 3: Yeah, I guess that's a little bit of like a
- 41:18Speaker 3: gut reaction maybe, but I don't know, what did you think.
- 41:21Speaker 2: I think it is between that and sentiment of value.
- 41:24Speaker 2: That seems fair, and I'm taking sentimental value, so we differ.
- 41:30Speaker 3: I don't think that's the wrong choice. I really like
- 41:32Speaker 3: sentimental value lot. Oh.
- 41:35Speaker 2: Between the two films, I don't understand all the hype
- 41:39Speaker 2: for The Secret Agent.
- 41:40Speaker 3: I know, I think you liked it less than I did.
- 41:42Speaker 3: I liked I did not like it, that's amy. Yeah,
- 41:45Speaker 3: I don't think you're wrong.
- 41:47Speaker 2: I get I thought Mora was compelling, but that story
- 41:53Speaker 2: did almost nothing for me. All the stuff with like.
- 41:56Speaker 3: The leg, like the horse leg, and just like very interesting.
- 42:01Speaker 2: Really, I'm sure there was some symbolism there that I
- 42:04Speaker 2: was not getting, but it did not do much for me.
- 42:11Speaker 2: But a sentiment of value was just wonderful, beautiful heart
- 42:17Speaker 2: rent in beautiful stadium. Yeah, but yeah, it's it's not
- 42:23Speaker 2: even close for me of what I liked more. But
- 42:26Speaker 2: I do think it's between those two, and I'm gonna
- 42:29Speaker 2: take cinement of value.
- 42:31Speaker 3: I'm gonna I'm gonna stay with a Secret Agent kind
- 42:34Speaker 3: of want. It was just an accident to win, nice
- 42:38Speaker 3: kind of want that I'm gonna watch that this week.
- 42:40Speaker 3: It's an interesting It's an interesting movie for sure. Yeah,
- 42:43Speaker 3: and it feels like the most like what am I
- 42:47Speaker 3: trying to say indie film of all of them, like
- 42:50Speaker 3: it cool, feels like they came together and made it happen,
- 42:53Speaker 3: not they'd had a bunch of money or whatever.
- 42:55Speaker 2: You know.
- 42:56Speaker 3: I don't know if that's true, but you know, you're rare.
- 43:00Speaker 3: Great love it. I read that one.
- 43:02Speaker 2: So this is you, this is me, this is your
- 43:05Speaker 2: documentary short. Yes, I love this one. We got all
- 43:09Speaker 2: the Empty Rooms, all of them armed only with the camera.
- 43:13Speaker 2: The Life and Death of Brent A Renod. We have children,
- 43:17Speaker 2: no more were and are gone. That's all one film title.
- 43:23Speaker 2: We have The Devil is busy and then perfectly a strangeness.
- 43:28Speaker 2: Now you know how I watch my best doc shorts.
- 43:32Speaker 3: I haven't seen anything.
- 43:34Speaker 2: I haven't seen one. All the Empty Rooms is favored
- 43:37Speaker 2: to win. And that's what I'm picking the.
- 43:39Speaker 3: Same and only because I looked it up, because I
- 43:42Speaker 3: was like, I don't have any idea, So yes.
- 43:45Speaker 2: Agreed, what do you think for documentary documentary feature?
- 43:50Speaker 3: Though, well, I haven't seen any of these either. Blue,
- 43:52Speaker 3: Let's go through the nominees, The Alabama Solution, Come see
- 43:55Speaker 3: Me in the Good Light, cutting through Rocks, Mister Nobody
- 43:59Speaker 3: against Putin, and The Perfect Neighbor. I've seen The Alabama
- 44:06Speaker 3: Solution on a few platforms.
- 44:08Speaker 2: I watched it yesterday on the plane. It's good, but
- 44:15Speaker 2: it's really tough. It's a tough watch. It's really well made.
- 44:18Speaker 3: It's about like the prison system, yeah, and then racial
- 44:22Speaker 3: implications thereof.
- 44:23Speaker 2: And just how the prisons need to be reformed in Alabama. Yeah,
- 44:28Speaker 2: probably all over.
- 44:30Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, I hear you. I saw the Perfect Neighbor
- 44:33Speaker 3: was supposed to was supposed to win. So I'm going
- 44:35Speaker 3: to say that now I actually saw that. Oh you did,
- 44:39Speaker 3: look at you.
- 44:40Speaker 2: I saw two of the fives.
- 44:43Speaker 3: It's exactly two more than I saw.
- 44:45Speaker 2: So yeah, but I would pick the Perfect Neighbor. It
- 44:52Speaker 2: is all shot from police camera footage. There is no
- 44:57Speaker 2: like We're going to go and interview somebody with like
- 45:00Speaker 2: a nice camera. It is all shot through either bodycam,
- 45:05Speaker 2: police car cam, or like interrogation room camera.
- 45:11Speaker 3: That's kind of cool.
- 45:12Speaker 2: It was a really cool way to do a movie.
- 45:14Speaker 3: What is it about, So it's about police or something.
- 45:18Speaker 2: No, it's there was an incident involving this woman and
- 45:24Speaker 2: she kind of was she really didn't like her neighbors
- 45:29Speaker 2: as she was upset that they were always loud and
- 45:32Speaker 2: she was calling the cops all the time. So they
- 45:35Speaker 2: have all this footage of them like leading up to
- 45:39Speaker 2: this big incident that happens, and yeah, it is extremely compelling. Wow,
- 45:48Speaker 2: it's really really well done, and it's on Netflix. So yeah,
- 45:55Speaker 2: it was crazy. So I think that one wins as well.
- 45:58Speaker 3: So we're the same love that I tripped into that
- 46:02Speaker 3: one so nice nicely?
- 46:04Speaker 2: Yes is this me?
- 46:07Speaker 3: Yes?
- 46:08Speaker 2: Yes? Yes, production design, we have Frankenstein, Hamnet, Marty Supreme,
- 46:15Speaker 2: one Battle after another and Sinners.
- 46:18Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 46:19Speaker 2: I was blown away with what Guillermo del Toro did
- 46:21Speaker 2: with Frankenstein. Everything visually with that movie is incredible, and
- 46:28Speaker 2: I think it's gonna win production design. I wouldn't be
- 46:30Speaker 2: surprised if the favorites are Sinners or one battle after another,
- 46:35Speaker 2: but if Frankenstein wins, it's gonna win on these kinds
- 46:39Speaker 2: of categories, and I'm gonna pick Frankenstein here.
- 46:42Speaker 3: One percent the same for very similar reasons, Like the
- 46:46Speaker 3: sets and everything they came up for with Frankenstein are
- 46:49Speaker 3: just like so fantastical but also rooted in you know,
- 46:54Speaker 3: like kind of a period PC kind of thing, all
- 46:57Speaker 3: the like body they had to make and stuff like that.
- 47:02Speaker 3: You know, I just think it's really cool. So yeah, picturing,
- 47:05Speaker 3: it's not too And I kind of wanted to win
- 47:06Speaker 3: because that movie was the movie was wold. I really
- 47:09Speaker 3: liked this love that. Let's go to best cinematography. Now
- 47:16Speaker 3: we have Dan Lauston from Frankenstein, Darius Kanji from Marty Supreme,
- 47:25Speaker 3: Michael Bauman from One Battle after Another Autumn, Duraled Archepa
- 47:31Speaker 3: from Sinners, and Adolpho Veloso from Train Dreams. I kind
- 47:37Speaker 3: of want Train Dreams to win and Adolpho, but I
- 47:41Speaker 3: think and honestly, one because the movie was really fun
- 47:46Speaker 3: and compelling. Two because of the crazy shark driving scene
- 47:53Speaker 3: where they're going through the hills. I think it's gonna
- 47:55Speaker 3: be one battle after another with Michael Bauman, and it's
- 47:58Speaker 3: kind of only because of that one sequence because it
- 48:01Speaker 3: was so wild.
- 48:03Speaker 2: I completely agree.
- 48:04Speaker 3: Wasn't that crazy? Like do that?
- 48:06Speaker 2: I mean it, We've seen probably thousands of car chases,
- 48:12Speaker 2: and that might be the best well shot car chase
- 48:17Speaker 2: ever made.
- 48:18Speaker 3: It was so fun, it felt like very like a
- 48:21Speaker 3: jawzy like it almost felt like that, you know, like
- 48:25Speaker 3: music in visual form. I just really I thought that
- 48:28Speaker 3: was super cool. Well, obviously we're not the only ones
- 48:32Speaker 3: that I've talked about that shot sequence either, So like
- 48:34Speaker 3: I think that you know, has got a lot of
- 48:35Speaker 3: pub and stuff.
- 48:36Speaker 2: I just so well, and they you know, they used
- 48:39Speaker 2: a certain like a widescreen kind of camera. It's like
- 48:42Speaker 2: made for Imax. However, so I'm also picking one battle
- 48:48Speaker 2: after another, but I really really think it is it
- 48:52Speaker 2: could go to Sinners.
- 48:54Speaker 3: That's yeah.
- 48:56Speaker 2: So Autumn Duraled Archipap would be the first woman ever
- 49:00Speaker 2: to win this award.
- 49:01Speaker 3: I didn't know that. That's wild well, and that like
- 49:05Speaker 3: that crazy montage sequence that they did, they did.
- 49:08Speaker 2: Some really cool stuff like the slow motion like all that,
- 49:16Speaker 2: all that stuff was really cool and all the stuff with.
- 49:18Speaker 3: Like the flames and the like dancing up. Yeah, I
- 49:22Speaker 3: didn't know that. I never knew A lady hasn't won that.
- 49:24Speaker 2: That's wild hasn't won it. So this could be the year,
- 49:28Speaker 2: and I mean it would be well deserved too. So
- 49:31Speaker 2: I'm with you just for that car chase scene, Like
- 49:34Speaker 2: I'm picking that for that reason.
- 49:36Speaker 3: Yeah, Yeah, well kind of bottom wins too. That's cool.
- 49:41Speaker 2: Yeah, I would not be mad. And yeah, like you said,
- 49:45Speaker 2: the shots and Trained Dreams are beautiful as well.
- 49:47Speaker 3: It's just so gorgeous and I don't think it's going
- 49:49Speaker 3: to get It's gonna get love, but I don't think
- 49:52Speaker 3: it's gonna win a lot of other stuff. So sometimes. Yeah,
- 49:54Speaker 3: just from.
- 49:58Speaker 2: Let's move to costume design, we have Avatar, Fire and Ash, Frankenstein, Hamnut,
- 50:06Speaker 2: Marty Supreme, and Sinners. I'm gonna give this one to
- 50:11Speaker 2: Frankenstein again. Everything visually about Frankenstein I think is gonna
- 50:17Speaker 2: gonna do well.
- 50:19Speaker 3: Yeah, that's all I got, exact same take. I think
- 50:24Speaker 3: it's like we've talked about before, it is a period
- 50:28Speaker 3: piece and it is also straight from Garmo's Crazy brain yep,
- 50:34Speaker 3: and everything about it is just really fun. And they
- 50:36Speaker 3: did so much cool stuff with like colors and you
- 50:39Speaker 3: know all that stuff, like it's very cool. So yeah,
- 50:42Speaker 3: I picked Frankenstein too, and I kind of open think
- 50:45Speaker 3: it's great. Let's go to best sound now we have
- 50:48Speaker 3: F one, Frankenstein, one battle after another, Sinners and so rot.
- 50:57Speaker 3: I kind of hope Sinners wins, but I think F
- 50:59Speaker 3: one is gonna win, mostly because I don't think F
- 51:03Speaker 3: one is gonna win anything else. I think they have
- 51:05Speaker 3: a lot of money behind them, and we do seem
- 51:10Speaker 3: to like sound editing in racing and car films a lot.
- 51:15Speaker 3: So and it was a it was a good movie.
- 51:18Speaker 3: Don't get me wrong. I am a little confused why
- 51:20Speaker 3: it's in oscar conversations in general. But but yeah, I
- 51:25Speaker 3: picked F one.
- 51:28Speaker 2: For the exact same reasons.
- 51:28Speaker 3: Oh really fun.
- 51:29Speaker 2: Okay, every So a lot of us, a lot of
- 51:33Speaker 2: these were getting getting the same.
- 51:35Speaker 3: Yeah we are.
- 51:36Speaker 2: Let's go to animated short. We have a Butterfly Forever Green,
- 51:42Speaker 2: the girl who cried pearls out retirement plan, and the
- 51:47Speaker 2: three sisters. I got nothing. Butterfly seems to be the favorite.
- 51:53Speaker 2: Picking Butterfly.
- 51:54Speaker 3: Damn it. I saw the girl who cried pearls, and
- 51:56Speaker 3: so that's why I mean on that. Thank God, it's
- 52:00Speaker 3: one I feel pretty strongly about. So that's good. Yeah,
- 52:07Speaker 3: to another one, we probably both feel pretty strongly about that.
- 52:11Speaker 3: No shade to these people. It's us who is wrong.
- 52:13Speaker 3: Butcher's staying a friend of Dorothy Jane Austen's period drama
- 52:18Speaker 3: The Singers and two people exchanging Saliva and I like Smuochin,
- 52:24Speaker 3: So I picked two people exchanging Saliva for really no
- 52:28Speaker 3: reason at all.
- 52:29Speaker 2: Dude, you got to give it to the best title,
- 52:31Speaker 2: and that is by far the best title.
- 52:33Speaker 3: Yeah all right, well that's honestly, that's all I have
- 52:36Speaker 3: to say about it. I don't have any good input. Sorry, yeah,
- 52:40Speaker 3: I did see.
- 52:41Speaker 2: It's between that and the singers. I'm gonna pick the
- 52:46Speaker 2: more fun title, so love it. There we go. Now
- 52:50Speaker 2: this we're a little more familiar with that original score.
- 52:54Speaker 2: We have Begonia by your skin Fender. I'm sure that's correct.
- 53:02Speaker 2: We have Frankenstein, Alexandra Desplatt, Hamnett, Max Richter one battle
- 53:10Speaker 2: after another, Johnny Greenwood and Sinners Ludwig Gorenson. We had
- 53:16Speaker 2: some really good scores.
- 53:17Speaker 3: Really.
- 53:18Speaker 2: Alexander Displatt is super accomplished, as well as Johnny Greenwood.
- 53:23Speaker 2: Johnny Greenwood's been nominated before as well. But I think
- 53:27Speaker 2: Ludwig Gorenson goes back to back here and wins for Sinners.
- 53:33Speaker 2: He is incredible.
- 53:35Speaker 3: What did he win for last year again?
- 53:37Speaker 2: Oppenheimer?
- 53:38Speaker 3: Yeah, yes, yes, of course.
- 53:40Speaker 2: So he does the Christopher Nolan stuff and he does
- 53:44Speaker 2: all the Ryan Kugler stuff, and so yeah, I feel
- 53:49Speaker 2: like we got a maybe we have another John Williams
- 53:52Speaker 2: on our hands. Yes, So yeah, that's pretty you start
- 53:55Speaker 2: getting with these incredible directors.
- 54:00Speaker 3: Yeah, so that's why I picked as well, based around music,
- 54:07Speaker 3: you know. Yeah, and that's kind of why I went
- 54:09Speaker 3: with it. Like the score is just so great in
- 54:11Speaker 3: Sinners anyway, and it's such a part of the fabric
- 54:15Speaker 3: of that. Like you said, I think, I think that's
- 54:17Speaker 3: the one for me. Yeah. Yeah, let's go to best
- 54:21Speaker 3: visual effects. We have Avatar Fire and Ash f One,
- 54:25Speaker 3: Jurassic World Rebirth, The Lost Bus, and Sinners, and I
- 54:29Speaker 3: picked Avatar, Fire and ash I've never seen it, but
- 54:34Speaker 3: a ton of visual effects goes into those movies.
- 54:37Speaker 2: So I'm you couldn't couldn't talk yourself into going.
- 54:39Speaker 3: I really couldn't. I couldn't you. Well, yeah, I'm proud
- 54:44Speaker 3: of you that you did go see it, because I'm
- 54:46Speaker 3: sure I would have liked it, but I was just like,
- 54:48Speaker 3: I don't care.
- 54:50Speaker 2: Man, it's a big time commitment.
- 54:53Speaker 3: But I think it will win the Oscar. So there's that.
- 54:56Speaker 2: Yeah. I mean, he's like developing his own technology to
- 55:02Speaker 2: make these movies. It's it's going to win for sure, easily.
- 55:08Speaker 2: I did think it was cool to see The Lost
- 55:11Speaker 2: Bus get a nomination here when I watched that on
- 55:14Speaker 2: Apple TV. Plus, I was so impressed with the budget
- 55:17Speaker 2: and how they shot it. It certainly didn't feel like
- 55:20Speaker 2: a streaming movie visual effects, which I enjoyed that.
- 55:25Speaker 3: I remember you're talking about the Lost Bus now that.
- 55:27Speaker 2: You say that, Yeah, yeah, that was the McConaughey. Yeah, yeah,
- 55:30Speaker 2: America Ferreira.
- 55:33Speaker 3: That's cool.
- 55:34Speaker 2: But yeah, I thought that was neat. But yeah, this
- 55:37Speaker 2: is a This is also one of the no brainers.
- 55:40Speaker 2: I think they had to.
- 55:42Speaker 3: Spend the most money too, right by so million. Yeah,
- 55:48Speaker 3: that's crazy.
- 55:50Speaker 2: So let's go to one that I don't really know
- 55:53Speaker 2: how you figure out this category, but film editing, we
- 55:57Speaker 2: have f one Marty Supreme, one battle after another, sentiment
- 56:01Speaker 2: of value in centers. Like I said, not sure how
- 56:05Speaker 2: you pick best editing. Yeah, but I'm gonna give you
- 56:09Speaker 2: to my favorite of the year, one battle after another.
- 56:13Speaker 3: That is also what I picked, And I kind of
- 56:16Speaker 3: went back to the crazy like dipping up and down
- 56:20Speaker 3: the car chase scene. But yeah, I'm with you. I
- 56:22Speaker 3: don't really know. I don't know if I would know
- 56:25Speaker 3: what good or poor editing is necessarily right. And that's
- 56:29Speaker 3: not saying they don't do great work. I just don't
- 56:31Speaker 3: get it. I feel like, so, yeah, here we are, Okay,
- 56:35Speaker 3: well let's go. I feel a little more comfortable in
- 56:37Speaker 3: this one. Best makeup and hair styling right in the
- 56:40Speaker 3: Wheelhouse Frankenstein cockuh. I don't know this movie. I've never
- 56:47Speaker 3: heard of it. Do you know what's pronounced?
- 56:50Speaker 2: Not at all?
- 56:50Speaker 3: Okkuho looks right. The Smashing Machine and the Ugly Stepsister
- 56:56Speaker 3: and I don't know that one either. Just gonna stick
- 56:59Speaker 3: with Rankenstein because it's so crazy. I just want to
- 57:02Speaker 3: know that. And Jacob Elordi is like his makeups nuts
- 57:06Speaker 3: in it, right, so it's so great. I assume that's makeup.
- 57:09Speaker 3: I guess. I don't know. Maybe it's sure it is
- 57:12Speaker 3: CGI or something, but yeah, I picked it out without
- 57:16Speaker 3: any real like.
- 57:18Speaker 2: Better reasoning him alone. Yeah, that gets it for sure.
- 57:22Speaker 2: You've never seen anything look like that on screen before.
- 57:25Speaker 3: It was really neat.
- 57:28Speaker 2: I will give the Smashing Machine some love because the
- 57:31Speaker 2: rock was pretty transformed. Man, he did not look like himself.
- 57:36Speaker 2: I didn't see that one.
- 57:37Speaker 3: Still. Oh I meant to and then it kind of
- 57:40Speaker 3: got like I felt like it had some buzz and
- 57:42Speaker 3: then it kind of went away, and I was like, ah,
- 57:44Speaker 3: I guess.
- 57:45Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, after I saw it, because a lot of
- 57:48Speaker 2: people are like, the Rock's going to get an Academy
- 57:50Speaker 2: or and he definitely was was great in some scenes.
- 57:56Speaker 2: In Emily Blunt, it's probably like the she just was underutilized,
- 58:04Speaker 2: but also just like a character that you didn't really
- 58:06Speaker 2: care about. She was kind of throwaway in that movie.
- 58:11Speaker 2: Was a bummer. What a dumb way to waste Emily,
- 58:14Speaker 2: And she's so awesome that I love her. That was
- 58:19Speaker 2: my biggest thing with that movie. But yes, I'm also
- 58:22Speaker 2: saying Frankenstein love it. Let's go to a new category
- 58:27Speaker 2: this year.
- 58:28Speaker 3: That's fun.
- 58:30Speaker 2: Best casting it. So we have Hamnet casted by Nina Gold,
- 58:38Speaker 2: Marty Supreme, Jennifer ven Ditti did that one battle after
- 58:43Speaker 2: another from Cassandra Kulakundi's The Secret Agent Gabriel Dominguez and
- 58:53Speaker 2: Sinners from Francine Maisler. Now, I will say I was
- 59:01Speaker 2: surprised that Sentiment of Value was not nominated here since
- 59:05Speaker 2: four members of the cast were nominated for their performances, and.
- 59:08Speaker 3: It's pretty wild. Yeah you would think, I guess I,
- 59:10Speaker 3: especially since it's new, I don't know what parameters go
- 59:14Speaker 3: into it.
- 59:14Speaker 2: Maybe what else are we looking for? Yeah, you have
- 59:17Speaker 2: that's a good point. All four main actors were nominated.
- 59:21Speaker 3: How could I have done better? Right?
- 59:25Speaker 2: I feel so bad for whoever movie This was my point.
- 59:32Speaker 3: Yeah, that's really funny.
- 59:34Speaker 2: So but everything I'm seeing is that it's going to
- 59:37Speaker 2: go to centers. And honestly, out of these movies that
- 59:42Speaker 2: were picked, I probably would have picked Sentimental Value for
- 59:44Speaker 2: the reason that I said, But I would have probably
- 59:49Speaker 2: given it to one battle after another because there were
- 59:53Speaker 2: people that were not huge roles that weren't nominated for
- 59:57Speaker 2: Academy Awards, even though three people were so that just
- 1:00:01Speaker 2: crushed it. Regina Hall in that role blew me away.
- 1:00:06Speaker 3: Uh.
- 1:00:06Speaker 2: And then you had some fun ones like Jim Downey
- 1:00:10Speaker 2: towards the end was so much fun. But the ensemble
- 1:00:15Speaker 2: in Sinners is really really impressive, and a lot of
- 1:00:17Speaker 2: those folks didn't get nominated.
- 1:00:20Speaker 1: Uh.
- 1:00:20Speaker 2: And we're so great like that dude from Unbroken. Yeah,
- 1:00:25Speaker 2: he was so good.
- 1:00:26Speaker 3: He didn't get he didn't get any scary.
- 1:00:30Speaker 2: And he was great in that movie. The really tall
- 1:00:34Speaker 2: guy who we've seen in a lot of movies. But
- 1:00:38Speaker 2: he's always a great supporting role.
- 1:00:40Speaker 3: Yes, yes, kind of a character, like he's always good.
- 1:00:45Speaker 3: But yeah, I don't even know that dude's name.
- 1:00:48Speaker 2: Yeah, but yeah, so I'm I'm giving it to Sinners.
- 1:00:52Speaker 3: For for that. That's who I picked too. I'm kind
- 1:00:56Speaker 3: of with I love your take, though, like, what else
- 1:00:58Speaker 3: do you need from me? Sentimental so over and over
- 1:01:02Speaker 3: into their mirrors they cry themselves to bed. I don't
- 1:01:04Speaker 3: know I like that, but yeah, I think Sinners makes
- 1:01:08Speaker 3: sense for sure. Cool, Well, that a big one. Let's
- 1:01:12Speaker 3: go Best Director here, Chloe Jao from Hamnet, Josh Safty
- 1:01:19Speaker 3: from Marty Supreme, Paul Thomas Anderson from One Battle after Another.
- 1:01:23Speaker 3: I already forgot how we said, Jakim Trier from Sentimental Value,
- 1:01:29Speaker 3: and Ryan Kugler from Sinners. I think you made a
- 1:01:33Speaker 3: really compelling argument for Paul Thomas Anderson earlier. I do
- 1:01:37Speaker 3: think this is going to go to Ryan Kugler and Sinners.
- 1:01:41Speaker 2: Wow.
- 1:01:42Speaker 3: So I'm going with that.
- 1:01:44Speaker 2: Wow, Bro, I mean it's it's between those two for sure,
- 1:01:47Speaker 2: So I don't think it's it's a crazy pick.
- 1:01:50Speaker 3: Usually who wins Best Director wins although I don't know
- 1:01:55Speaker 3: that's been the way that way recently, but wins Best Picture,
- 1:01:58Speaker 3: so that's kind of coloring a little getting ahead of
- 1:02:00Speaker 3: myself maybe, but yeah, yeah, I'm going with Koogler.
- 1:02:04Speaker 2: I don't know.
- 1:02:05Speaker 3: Did you go with Paul Thomas Anderson.
- 1:02:06Speaker 2: Then one percent? For the reasons that I said, He's
- 1:02:11Speaker 2: never won, and this movie is worth winning. It deserves
- 1:02:15Speaker 2: to win.
- 1:02:17Speaker 3: It's also my favorite Paul Thomas Anderson movie. I think
- 1:02:21Speaker 3: for sure it's the most watchable for me.
- 1:02:23Speaker 2: Yeah, agreed. You know he's directed some amazing performances, but
- 1:02:29Speaker 2: this movie was awesome.
- 1:02:32Speaker 3: Agreed.
- 1:02:32Speaker 2: I also think it's between that and Centers, so that
- 1:02:34Speaker 2: just kind of one of us is going to be right.
- 1:02:38Speaker 2: You're right, And with that in mind, yes, let's go
- 1:02:42Speaker 2: to Best Picture. Yes, we have Magonia F one Confusing,
- 1:02:48Speaker 2: which is a shocker, uh, Frankenstein, Hamnett, Marty Supreme, One
- 1:02:55Speaker 2: Battle after another, The Secret Agent, Sentimental Value, You, Sinners,
- 1:03:02Speaker 2: and Train Dreams Crazy. Like you had said, you thought
- 1:03:07Speaker 2: the Best Director probably is going to influence Best Picture.
- 1:03:10Speaker 2: I agreed with that. Taking my favorite film of the year,
- 1:03:15Speaker 2: I'm gonna take one battle after another.
- 1:03:17Speaker 3: I like that. I don't think you can be mad
- 1:03:20Speaker 3: at it. I took Sinners for the same reasoning, so
- 1:03:24Speaker 3: that's probably gonna mark who wins between us for sure,
- 1:03:28Speaker 3: those two categories. I'm not gonna be mad at one
- 1:03:31Speaker 3: battle after another.
- 1:03:32Speaker 2: I'm not gonna be mad at sinners.
- 1:03:34Speaker 3: Yeah, I think Hamnett has an argument.
- 1:03:39Speaker 2: I don't know that it does. I don't think that's
- 1:03:40Speaker 2: those two. I mean, I think we already mentioned Jesse
- 1:03:44Speaker 2: Buckley is going to win Best Actress deservedly, but man,
- 1:03:50Speaker 2: and I mean it's it deserved the Best Picture not yeah,
- 1:03:52Speaker 2: for sure, But I don't understand why those two.
- 1:03:57Speaker 3: I know we've talked about it. I don't I'm not
- 1:03:59Speaker 3: sure to be a butthole.
- 1:04:00Speaker 2: But yeah, what.
- 1:04:04Speaker 3: Yeah, a movie I don't think we even talked about
- 1:04:06Speaker 3: in our twenty twenty five recap episode.
- 1:04:08Speaker 2: We didn't, which is like, oh, it's a fun racing movie.
- 1:04:11Speaker 3: Yeah, it was a good time. I thought Brett Pitt
- 1:04:13Speaker 3: was fun in it. But I don't what. But yeah,
- 1:04:17Speaker 3: a lot of people too, I guess.
- 1:04:19Speaker 2: So yeah, we're on the outside of that.
- 1:04:22Speaker 3: I suppose so.
- 1:04:24Speaker 2: But like, looking back, I'm like, I don't know what
- 1:04:26Speaker 2: movie like deserved it over it like I didn't feel
- 1:04:30Speaker 2: strongly about true on the tenth movie that really needed
- 1:04:34Speaker 2: to be nominated for it. But yeah, but it wasn't
- 1:04:41Speaker 2: F one. You know what I would have put in
- 1:04:43Speaker 2: before F one because it was one of my favorite
- 1:04:45Speaker 2: movies of the year, The Ballot of Wallace Island. Yes, honestly,
- 1:04:51Speaker 2: but I would have taken that way over it.
- 1:04:53Speaker 3: It's too close to a comedy though. They don't like,
- 1:04:55Speaker 3: they don't really dig that, which is a bummer.
- 1:04:57Speaker 2: Yeah, but I don't care.
- 1:04:59Speaker 3: I don't either with you. I like that. I like
- 1:05:01Speaker 3: that call.
- 1:05:02Speaker 2: Wow.
- 1:05:03Speaker 3: So you think well or another is going to kill it?
- 1:05:06Speaker 3: I do.
- 1:05:07Speaker 2: I think it's gonna win a lot of awards.
- 1:05:08Speaker 3: I am mad about that.
- 1:05:09Speaker 2: I picked Centers for a few things as well.
- 1:05:12Speaker 3: Yeah, for sure.
- 1:05:14Speaker 2: And I could be super wrong. We'll see.
- 1:05:16Speaker 3: I mean, I probably will be wrong if if we're
- 1:05:19Speaker 3: looking historically, chances are good.
- 1:05:22Speaker 2: But hey, if this is the year you beat me,
- 1:05:24Speaker 2: it makes a lot of sense. We did change a
- 1:05:26Speaker 2: lot of stuff, Yeah, we did.
- 1:05:29Speaker 3: This is probably the most different we've been, right.
- 1:05:31Speaker 2: I feel like, yeah, well, especially for the big awards
- 1:05:34Speaker 2: like this.
- 1:05:35Speaker 3: Yeah, that's true.
- 1:05:36Speaker 2: You know a lot of times we differed on you know, right,
- 1:05:40Speaker 2: all the awards are big. Let's go good size, Let's
- 1:05:45Speaker 2: do it. Let's do a last man Stanton for a game.
- 1:05:49Speaker 2: Do you want to play a game? Oh so much?
- 1:05:51Speaker 3: Yes, let's do it so much.
- 1:05:54Speaker 2: I threw it out on on our socials. I'm be
- 1:06:00Speaker 2: real honest with you. I didn't get a lot of
- 1:06:03Speaker 2: didn't get a lot of bites.
- 1:06:05Speaker 3: Well, you know, the daylight saving time in our sleepy Sunday,
- 1:06:11Speaker 3: it's pretty early people are sleeping in.
- 1:06:15Speaker 2: Yeah, maybe so when we're performing this, we only got
- 1:06:18Speaker 2: three options. Two we've done Tom Hanks and Robin Williams.
- 1:06:25Speaker 2: We're both great, both great, we must actors that we
- 1:06:28Speaker 2: love and we definitely one hundred percent have done them.
- 1:06:30Speaker 3: Multiple more than once. Yeah.
- 1:06:34Speaker 2: And the third one was Daniel Brule who he was
- 1:06:43Speaker 2: the bad guy, the villain in Avengers, the one that
- 1:06:50Speaker 2: I can't think of the title of. Oh yeah, it
- 1:06:54Speaker 2: would have been not Infinity were before that? What am
- 1:06:58Speaker 2: I blanking on that award? No, Avengers, not Captain America?
- 1:07:04Speaker 3: Right, that was Captain America Avengers.
- 1:07:06Speaker 2: It was the the bad robot guy. Why am I
- 1:07:11Speaker 2: blanking on that?
- 1:07:13Speaker 3: But that wasn't him though?
- 1:07:14Speaker 2: Right? No, he was the Age of Ultron, so he
- 1:07:18Speaker 2: was the German Oh yes, Bru yeah yeah, yeah, yeah yeah.
- 1:07:24Speaker 2: Or also in Inglorious Bastards he was the what's it called,
- 1:07:31Speaker 2: the like the sniper guy from Inglorious Bastards. Yes, that
- 1:07:36Speaker 2: they make the film good.
- 1:07:39Speaker 3: Call, Yeah, good call. So it's that we're not doing
- 1:07:42Speaker 3: that guy. No, I'm sorry. No, those are the two that.
- 1:07:47Speaker 2: I can come up with off the top of my head,
- 1:07:49Speaker 2: and I couldn't even think of Age of Ultron, so
- 1:07:50Speaker 2: that we're not doing that more than I have. I
- 1:07:54Speaker 2: am going to give a shout out to Lorraine Lauch,
- 1:07:58Speaker 2: who is one of our patron supporters. Yes, thank you, Lorraine,
- 1:08:04Speaker 2: Thank you Loraine. She sent us all the people that
- 1:08:07Speaker 2: we have done and all the people that we haven't done,
- 1:08:10Speaker 2: which is crazy and beyond, but I thought it would
- 1:08:16Speaker 2: be kind of fun, yes, to go through this list
- 1:08:19Speaker 2: of people that we haven't done and maybe pick like
- 1:08:24Speaker 2: a supporting actress.
- 1:08:25Speaker 3: Oh how fun? Oh good? Yeah, I'm.
- 1:08:30Speaker 2: And the first one that I'm seeing. She went through
- 1:08:32Speaker 2: it in alphabetical order.
- 1:08:35Speaker 3: Lorraine, You're crazy. God love you, but you're crazy.
- 1:08:38Speaker 2: Isn't she great?
- 1:08:39Speaker 3: That's amazing.
- 1:08:41Speaker 2: But right in the a's somebody that we have not
- 1:08:44Speaker 2: done very accomplished. A first name Ay or last name may,
- 1:08:48Speaker 2: first name ay and a paquin that is one.
- 1:08:55Speaker 3: Is this the game?
- 1:08:56Speaker 2: Sorry, No, that's not the game. The one that I'm
- 1:08:58Speaker 2: seeing is Angelina Jolie.
- 1:09:00Speaker 3: Oh my heavens, that's a good one.
- 1:09:03Speaker 2: I feel like we could absolutely do Angelina Jolie.
- 1:09:05Speaker 3: I'm in.
- 1:09:07Speaker 2: You feel good about that?
- 1:09:08Speaker 3: I mean, yeah, you're gonna beat me, but yeah, yeah,
- 1:09:14Speaker 3: I like it. I'm writing down.
- 1:09:16Speaker 2: Things, Yeah, write down some things. I'm gonna do that too.
- 1:09:20Speaker 3: One.
- 1:09:21Speaker 2: So that's pretty Yeah, I am not writing a lot.
- 1:09:25Speaker 3: I have one. It's a good one.
- 1:09:29Speaker 2: Well do it? Tell me what it is? Or do
- 1:09:32Speaker 2: you want me to go first?
- 1:09:33Speaker 3: Well, you go first? What is my problem? Right now?
- 1:09:36Speaker 2: I am going to pick the film that she won
- 1:09:38Speaker 2: a Best Supporting Actress Oscar, which was the movie Girl Interrupted.
- 1:09:44Speaker 3: Great one, great one. Why I suck at this game?
- 1:09:51Speaker 3: I'm gonna take Gone in sixty seconds.
- 1:09:54Speaker 2: I literally just was writing that one where she had.
- 1:09:57Speaker 3: Bleach blonde braids going on maybe locks. I guess I
- 1:10:01Speaker 3: don't remember one hundred percent.
- 1:10:02Speaker 2: But yeah, well I'm gonna go with that. She also
- 1:10:08Speaker 2: had blonde hair in a movie that nobody saw. But
- 1:10:12Speaker 2: it was one of the years that I was in
- 1:10:14Speaker 2: college and I had the movie channel and I saw
- 1:10:17Speaker 2: this movie a lot called Life or something like it.
- 1:10:21Speaker 2: It was her and Ed Burns. What and nobody saw
- 1:10:25Speaker 2: this movie?
- 1:10:27Speaker 3: Okay, have you been something like it?
- 1:10:30Speaker 2: Life or something like it? I'm sorry, apologies, but dude,
- 1:10:34Speaker 2: this was on all the time on like HBO and stuff,
- 1:10:38Speaker 2: and I had all the movie channels for a little bit.
- 1:10:41Speaker 3: That's interesting. Yeah.
- 1:10:43Speaker 2: She plays a reporter who I think she She is
- 1:10:48Speaker 2: interviewing someone who was Tony Shaloub and he can predict
- 1:10:56Speaker 2: the future a little bit and says that she is
- 1:10:59Speaker 2: going to die. Oh no, And so the whole thing
- 1:11:01Speaker 2: is her like either coming to terms with it or
- 1:11:04Speaker 2: like trying to, like it, live out the things that
- 1:11:07Speaker 2: she wanted to do.
- 1:11:10Speaker 3: So compel it.
- 1:11:12Speaker 2: Yeah, I like that.
- 1:11:13Speaker 3: Nice. I'll take eternals next.
- 1:11:18Speaker 2: Wouldn't have thought of that.
- 1:11:20Speaker 3: It's all I have.
- 1:11:22Speaker 2: I'm going to pick the first movie I ever saw
- 1:11:24Speaker 2: her in, uh, which was called.
- 1:11:26Speaker 3: Hackers back in the day, one good one. Yeah, I
- 1:11:30Speaker 3: don't think I ever saw Hackers. I don't remember. It
- 1:11:35Speaker 3: doesn't matter.
- 1:11:36Speaker 1: Uh.
- 1:11:38Speaker 3: Was it just called tomb Raider or was it called
- 1:11:41Speaker 3: Laura Craft tomb Raider.
- 1:11:42Speaker 2: I think it was Laura Kraft Tumbrader, but I can.
- 1:11:45Speaker 3: Never remember because they had the candor ones as well.
- 1:11:48Speaker 2: The Candor one, Yeah, I think that one was just
- 1:11:50Speaker 2: called that was just the first.
- 1:11:51Speaker 3: One was Laura Craft. Yeah, i'd like to say that though,
- 1:11:54Speaker 3: please you should. I don't think I ever actually saw that.
- 1:11:59Speaker 2: I know I didn't.
- 1:12:00Speaker 3: Yeah, I didn't like that game very much either.
- 1:12:04Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 1:12:04Speaker 2: I didn't ever play the game either, so I had
- 1:12:06Speaker 2: no I had nothing, no skin in the game. I'm
- 1:12:10Speaker 2: gonna pick the one where she uh broke up a marriage? Oh,
- 1:12:17Speaker 2: mister and missus Smith.
- 1:12:18Speaker 3: Good one forgot about that. Yeah, I am in deep
- 1:12:24Speaker 3: Doo Doo here. Uh would you say you have fourteen left?
- 1:12:30Speaker 3: I'm going to say four But Maleficent she wasn't there.
- 1:12:38Speaker 2: Yeah, and there was a sequel, so I'll take Moleicent
- 1:12:41Speaker 2: to Electric Boogaloo.
- 1:12:43Speaker 3: Not sure that was the title, but I will give
- 1:12:45Speaker 3: it to you because I don't know. I hope that
- 1:12:49Speaker 3: was the title. Uh, Okay, great, great, I didn't think
- 1:12:54Speaker 3: about Maleficent. Oh was she in the snow White one?
- 1:13:00Speaker 3: Doesn't matter? Boy, she was probably in so many other
- 1:13:05Speaker 3: things that I don't remember. What was the Oh, never mind,
- 1:13:15Speaker 3: you might have said it earlier.
- 1:13:18Speaker 2: Was she any girl?
- 1:13:19Speaker 3: Interrupted?
- 1:13:20Speaker 2: Oh that was the first one you did say that. Okay, yeah,
- 1:13:23Speaker 2: she won the that's the one you said. That's how
- 1:13:26Speaker 2: I'm so sorry.
- 1:13:28Speaker 3: Yeah, sorry, that's probably the only reason that popped into
- 1:13:30Speaker 3: my brain. I suck.
- 1:13:32Speaker 2: Yeah when we did our research for our top five.
- 1:13:36Speaker 3: Oh yeah, because I never saw that, so I didn't
- 1:13:38Speaker 3: write that one down, which makes sense. Sure, chat Spot. Uh,
- 1:13:46Speaker 3: I'm not sure I have another one, and I'm okay
- 1:13:50Speaker 3: sorry about it, don't be.
- 1:13:54Speaker 2: One series that she did her voice in was the
- 1:14:00Speaker 2: Fu Panda movies.

- 1:15:00Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 1:15:00Speaker 2: I think it was like based on a true story,
- 1:15:02Speaker 2: something weird like that.
- 1:15:03Speaker 1: Right.
- 1:15:04Speaker 2: Yeah. She did a movie it was about a model
- 1:15:08Speaker 2: named Gia called Gia, and then one movie where she
- 1:15:16Speaker 2: I believe, met Billy Bob Thornton and they had their crazy,
- 1:15:19Speaker 2: weird love affair. Crazy was a movie about air traffic
- 1:15:24Speaker 2: controllers called Pushing Tin that nobody has seen. That I
- 1:15:31Speaker 2: saw a few times, and honestly that is all I got.
- 1:15:38Speaker 2: I feel like we missed a lot.
- 1:15:40Speaker 3: Oh. She was in the Bone Collector.
- 1:15:42Speaker 2: Oh yeah, and before I look after you said Bone Collector.
- 1:15:48Speaker 2: I remember she did one called Original Sin with Antonio Benderaz.
- 1:15:55Speaker 2: But then she did another one called Taking Lives with

- 1:16:10Speaker 2: He was horrible. Oh no, he was just villain, just
- 1:16:14Speaker 2: horrible village.
- 1:16:17Speaker 3: But yeah, she was in Coture recently, something called Maria.
- 1:16:24Speaker 2: Oh she did. She was up for an Academy Award
- 1:16:26Speaker 2: for that, playing Maria Kallis, the singer.
- 1:16:29Speaker 3: I don't remember that. That was from twenty I never
- 1:16:31Speaker 3: watched it either. Those who Wish Me Dead, the One

- 1:16:50Speaker 3: something called by the Sea, the Tourist. I feel like
- 1:16:55Speaker 3: I heard that.
- 1:16:57Speaker 2: Her and Johnny Depp.
- 1:16:58Speaker 3: Yeah, oh yeah, she was in bo Wolf and then
- 1:17:01Speaker 3: she did that Alexander movie too. I forgot about those.

- 1:17:15Speaker 2: saw Sky Captain in the World of Tomorrow. There's that
- 1:17:18Speaker 2: Taking Lives one, which.
- 1:17:19Speaker 3: Is Crazy Life or something like it. You nailed that
- 1:17:23Speaker 3: one Phone Collector, pushing to playing by Heart, Hell's Kitchen,
- 1:17:27Speaker 3: playing God, and then heard a lot of these.
- 1:17:29Speaker 2: I didn't see those Ackers.
- 1:17:33Speaker 3: That about it.
- 1:17:33Speaker 2: Ackers was the one I did.
