- 0:01Speaker 1: Welcome to a meeting of the minds, crafted from decades
- 0:05Speaker 1: of talk show experience, an extension of the magic they've
- 0:08Speaker 1: created together on radio in the phenomenon called M and
- 0:12Speaker 1: M Hot topics in the news and wisdom from life.
- 0:16Speaker 1: It's Mark Davis and Mike Gallagher. This is eminem Extra.
- 0:22Speaker 2: For a Friday, the twenty fourth of July. Mark Davis,
- 0:26Speaker 2: i'mon Texas. Mike Gallagher, he is in Florida, he could
- 0:29Speaker 2: be anywhere. He's all over the place. I know where
- 0:31Speaker 2: he was last night in the theater of his choice,
- 0:34Speaker 2: the Imax of his choice. For Odyssey, we're gonna talk
- 0:36Speaker 2: about that big reveal on a literal top ten, maybe
- 0:41Speaker 2: top five TV show ever for me, and in here
- 0:45Speaker 2: somewhere we'll probably look at the week's top news stories.
- 0:48Speaker 3: Man, you are so excited about this TV show, Golley,
- 0:52Speaker 3: you're pumped. I can't wait. And you wouldn't tell you
- 0:54Speaker 3: wouldn't spill the beans this morning when you're gonna when
- 0:57Speaker 3: you're gonna spill the beans here on eminem Extra.
- 1:00Speaker 2: Let's do Odyssey first, Okay, then I'll unroll it.
- 1:08Speaker 3: How's your arm? How are you feeling?
- 1:10Speaker 2: It is? It is great? I don't have the big,
- 1:12Speaker 2: the big wrist splint thing anyway, and I can I'm
- 1:15Speaker 2: still not so. And Lisa, bless her all right, she
- 1:17Speaker 2: wanted me to like she'd want me to wear the
- 1:18Speaker 2: splint for like a month just to make sure I
- 1:21Speaker 2: don't bend, because when when they shoot that thing into
- 1:24Speaker 2: your wrist to go up into your heart, as they
- 1:26Speaker 2: did for me on Monday, for those right unaware, that's
- 1:30Speaker 2: it's a pretty violent thing. And you're not supposed to bend,
- 1:33Speaker 2: you know, the wrist like that so much. I'm not
- 1:36Speaker 2: supposed to lift anything for about another week. So but
- 1:38Speaker 2: but it's good. It's a it's all, it's all normal.
- 1:40Speaker 3: I love that, you know, you know, if this was me,
- 1:43Speaker 3: i'd be back about mid October from the hospital. I decided.
- 1:47Speaker 3: With my calcium score. I've got it's kind of a
- 1:49Speaker 3: nice layout over there at the ICU here at the
- 1:52Speaker 3: hospital in Tampa, a sweep, I've got a suite with
- 1:55Speaker 3: a nice Tampa Bay view. I've got the all the
- 1:58Speaker 3: machines and the oxygen tent and everything right by. Because
- 2:01Speaker 3: my my calcium score of eighty four, and you think,
- 2:04Speaker 3: you really, you think I'm just I'm going I'm going
- 2:07Speaker 3: to the light. You think I'm being drawn right into
- 2:09Speaker 3: the light like Carolint, Little Carol Anne, get away from
- 2:13Speaker 3: the light, Gallagher, go go so good for you. I'm
- 2:16Speaker 3: so glad you soared through this thing and you're feeling good,
- 2:19Speaker 3: and I'm feeling good. And yeah, I went to the
- 2:22Speaker 3: movies last night. I'm feeling great. The rant that I
- 2:26Speaker 3: went on on your show got a ton of response.
- 2:30Speaker 3: It was something, well, I just had to unload on it.
- 2:33Speaker 3: I'm so tired of I'm just I'm in a mood
- 2:36Speaker 3: about gosh. We got massive things to worry about right now,
- 2:41Speaker 3: the border, the Save America Act, communism being accepted, and
- 2:47Speaker 3: I just I get sick of people fighting about a
- 2:50Speaker 3: stupid movie, you know, and when it's needless.
- 2:55Speaker 2: There are some movies worth fighting about in some parts
- 2:57Speaker 2: of the culture that are sliding into hell, that are
- 2:59Speaker 2: worth drawing lines in the sand. But it's like they're
- 3:01Speaker 2: picking a fight, looking for reasons to be triggered under
- 3:04Speaker 2: every rock. And I was just really relieved this morning
- 3:07Speaker 2: when you said, first of all, they're like sharing an opinion.
- 3:11Speaker 2: We don't have to. We've disagreed on a lot of
- 3:13Speaker 2: movies and TV shows. But I was glad to hear
- 3:15Speaker 2: that you enjoyed it as much as I did. And
- 3:17Speaker 2: then we went and then you went on a particularly
- 3:19Speaker 2: inspired tirade on just the exhausting nature of people looking
- 3:24Speaker 2: for every reason to be torqued off.
- 3:26Speaker 3: It's like they start the day mad and then they
- 3:29Speaker 3: get angry as the day progressing, you know. And I
- 3:33Speaker 3: always wonder about, like even a movie, do you walk
- 3:36Speaker 3: into the movie theater all pissed off? Are you just
- 3:39Speaker 3: going I'm gonna be mad because I'm gonna see that
- 3:42Speaker 3: black helen of Troy and I'm gonna lose my mind,
- 3:45Speaker 3: you know what? Shit back my gosh, and just and look,
- 3:50Speaker 3: as I told you this morning, it may not be
- 3:52Speaker 3: everybody's cup of tea. It's three hours, right under three hours.
- 3:55Speaker 3: It's real loud. You didn't see it in IMAX, but
- 3:58Speaker 3: I did.
- 4:00Speaker 2: Was loud in my little room where I was at
- 4:02Speaker 2: at the local suburban theater.
- 4:04Speaker 3: I thought at one point it was gonna like jettison
- 4:07Speaker 3: my sheet right through the ceiling because the ceiling the
- 4:10Speaker 3: sheet was, you know, the sheet was rumbling. It was like,
- 4:13Speaker 3: I think, I swear, I think they make the sheets
- 4:16Speaker 3: now in these Imax theaters vibrate.
- 4:18Speaker 2: Do you know that?
- 4:19Speaker 3: Have you heard that?
- 4:20Speaker 2: I haven't been in an Imax theater in forever because
- 4:23Speaker 2: I think I'm It's the reason I'm sphere hesitant. I
- 4:28Speaker 2: don't the Vegas thing. I know that wils and you
- 4:32Speaker 2: just did Wizard of Oz, that everybody's done the Eagles.
- 4:34Speaker 2: I think my brain would explode. And I'm kind of kidding,
- 4:37Speaker 2: but only half so. No, I don't think they do.
- 4:40Speaker 2: But do you remember? Are you you are old enough?
- 4:42Speaker 2: I want to says nineteen seventy seven, seventy eight. The
- 4:46Speaker 2: movie was Earthquake and it was in censorrounds around. I
- 4:51Speaker 2: do remember that they somehow equipped theaters where it would
- 4:55Speaker 2: and I don't know if it was just from extra
- 4:57Speaker 2: big speakers or you know, I don't know the apparently
- 5:01Speaker 2: it's had a real life.
- 5:02Speaker 3: Well, and the sphere in Vegas has like nine trillion
- 5:05Speaker 3: speakers built into the the in the giant dome, you know,
- 5:09Speaker 3: I mean the sound is a pitch perfect, uh. And
- 5:12Speaker 3: the audio for Odyssey. The Odyssey was just again, just loud.
- 5:16Speaker 3: I was thinking, as I'm sitting through this movie, because
- 5:19Speaker 3: it's so intense, it's almost almost uncomfortable, it's like, well
- 5:22Speaker 3: it's real, and I'm pretty maybe h here I am
- 5:25Speaker 3: boom or Mike complaining of our loud movie. Where don't
- 5:29Speaker 3: they play a whole classical music? But no, it's a
- 5:33Speaker 3: it's an epic, it really is. It's one of those
- 5:35Speaker 3: big budget epics, weeping epic they made. They made their
- 5:39Speaker 3: budget back in like a day. So this thing, you know,
- 5:43Speaker 3: this thing is that's before we get to that.
- 5:44Speaker 2: That's before we get to the popcorn bucket that you
- 5:46Speaker 2: told me the possible seventy dollars.
- 5:48Speaker 3: And they say they're on track the movie chain. What
- 5:53Speaker 3: is it, AMC. They're on track to make one hundred
- 5:57Speaker 3: million dollars in selling Trojan Horrors as popcorn. They shoved
- 6:02Speaker 3: the popcorn and the Trojan horses belly, So then you
- 6:05Speaker 3: you eat the popcorn out of the horses belly.
- 6:09Speaker 2: How do you do that? That just sounds like a
- 6:11Speaker 2: mess waiting to be made. Did you set a little
- 6:14Speaker 2: last buckets in use? It's got a little lash. I
- 6:17Speaker 2: saw open the latch. Don't you dump a pound of
- 6:19Speaker 2: popcorn into your lab? I would think, I do you
- 6:22Speaker 2: turn the horse upside down?
- 6:24Speaker 3: I don't know. I didn't They didn't I didn't. I
- 6:27Speaker 3: didn't see the I didn't see the latch. I mean
- 6:30Speaker 3: the trojan horse at the uh at the fighter. No.
- 6:35Speaker 3: I saw a story about no, no, no no. It
- 6:38Speaker 3: was on the New York Post. It was a real story.
- 6:40Speaker 3: I mean, so it's not they're doing it all over
- 6:42Speaker 3: the place. But look, and I get very hot, Si
- 6:45Speaker 3: tatsi is your movie theater? Amc H negative? It's it
- 6:50Speaker 3: is part of the sinne police.
- 6:52Speaker 2: I think. I think they're either Spanish or Mexican or something.
- 6:55Speaker 2: I don't know. The chain where we get the recliners
- 6:58Speaker 2: and the food.
- 6:59Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, I am, she does too, But sina police.
- 7:01Speaker 2: Is that what it's called? See what it's funny? C
- 7:04Speaker 2: I n cinema. There's the route there p O l
- 7:07Speaker 2: I s police like Latin for city like metropolis Annapolis, Indianapolis.
- 7:12Speaker 2: So it would be cine police. And yet everybody calls
- 7:15Speaker 2: it synopolis, which drives me insane.
- 7:17Speaker 3: I have never heard of that movie chain, movie theater chain.
- 7:20Speaker 3: That's fascinating to me because I always think about I
- 7:24Speaker 3: think about businesses like that and what a what a
- 7:26Speaker 3: huge money maker. Once you get the infrastructure in all
- 7:30Speaker 3: you gotta do all you do is take tickets and
- 7:31Speaker 3: put the push the start button and play a movie.
- 7:34Speaker 3: That's that's the kind of what is it? That's not
- 7:36Speaker 3: really exactly passive income, but it's pretty close, right.
- 7:40Speaker 2: And I would think, I mean, you gotta gotta have staffing.
- 7:43Speaker 2: So yeah, yeah, I got how staff? Do you remember
- 7:45Speaker 2: going to the theater? You know, in the seventies or
- 7:48Speaker 2: something you had seven people work in the windows, ticket
- 7:51Speaker 2: takers and if you got food, you got people bringing
- 7:55Speaker 2: you stuff and things like that. But as far as
- 7:57Speaker 2: the as far as the online, when is the last
- 7:59Speaker 2: time you bought a movie ticket at the actual theater
- 8:02Speaker 2: from a human being? About one hundred years ago.
- 8:05Speaker 3: I go on the app and then and all you
- 8:07Speaker 3: do is show the barcode to the girl that is
- 8:10Speaker 3: taking the swipe in the barcode. But but so I got.
- 8:13Speaker 2: I go to AMC.
- 8:14Speaker 3: AMC is kind of the predominant movie theater chain.
- 8:17Speaker 2: They're all over the place. I bet, and I are
- 8:19Speaker 2: you at? Are you a rewards?
- 8:21Speaker 3: I am a member of the AMC Stubs Reward Club.
- 8:25Speaker 3: And you know what you get to do? You know
- 8:27Speaker 3: what you get to do if you're a stub what
- 8:29Speaker 3: you got stub Hub you subdub. You bypass the concession line.
- 8:34Speaker 3: You've got your own special line. They got a they
- 8:37Speaker 3: got a VIP AMC stubs line. And I feel, I mean,
- 8:41Speaker 3: I always feel a little guilty because everyone's giving you
- 8:43Speaker 3: dirty looks. There might be forty people in the line,
- 8:46Speaker 3: and you go right up to the line. I'd like
- 8:48Speaker 3: to buy. Yeah, I want a pumpcorn. I want a pumpcorn.
- 8:51Speaker 3: I remember, we used to have passes when we had
- 8:53Speaker 3: studios of the Empire State Building. One of the benefits
- 8:55Speaker 3: to I mean when we had yeah, when we worked there,
- 8:59Speaker 3: one of the benefits that tenants have in the Empire
- 9:02Speaker 3: State Building is they get free VIP passes to the
- 9:06Speaker 3: Empire State Observatory at the top of the building. Cool
- 9:09Speaker 3: well at Christmas time. Every time friends and family gathered
- 9:13Speaker 3: in New York City at Christmas time, I would take
- 9:16Speaker 3: them up with the VIP and, boy, you want to
- 9:19Speaker 3: talk about angry scowls and people mad because they're standing
- 9:23Speaker 3: in the line for hours and you waltz in and
- 9:26Speaker 3: you just wait. Look, I'm such an obnoxious goof. I
- 9:31Speaker 3: should not like that kind of stuff, but I admit
- 9:34Speaker 3: I kind of do.
- 9:35Speaker 2: I just when you got it coming toee. You work
- 9:37Speaker 2: in the building, it's a perk. You're a stub, you
- 9:40Speaker 2: get the perk. I'm a fan of perks. And then
- 9:43Speaker 2: if you I mean, I don't have all of them.
- 9:44Speaker 2: My Lord knows, I'll never be the kind of airline
- 9:46Speaker 2: traveling they let you fly the plane at this point
- 9:49Speaker 2: with the.
- 9:50Speaker 3: Look, I get on before the pilot. The pilot waits
- 9:52Speaker 3: for me first. I say, look, captain, Captain, you wait
- 9:55Speaker 3: till I get settled in.
- 9:56Speaker 2: I don't think we could leave the plane. I don't
- 9:58Speaker 2: think mister Gallagher has got out of his bed. And
- 10:01Speaker 2: for CND, so it will just be a couple of
- 10:03Speaker 2: moments here on the darmac. Ooh ooh.
- 10:05Speaker 3: United has a new first class. They've they're rolling out
- 10:08Speaker 3: Polaris and there's a big controversy there because in order
- 10:12Speaker 3: to make the beds these are the live flat beds,
- 10:14Speaker 3: the little pods, but they but they face out rather
- 10:18Speaker 3: than facing the window, and so everybody's all upset about
- 10:20Speaker 3: that out like toward the window, where they're like, you're
- 10:23Speaker 3: they're angled out the window. Yeah, they're angled away from
- 10:26Speaker 3: the window. In other words, it's and this is I
- 10:28Speaker 3: think on just the like the the wide not the
- 10:30Speaker 3: wide body, but where there's only and they instead of
- 10:32Speaker 3: facing towards the window, the bed and the seat face
- 10:36Speaker 3: kind of angled away from the window. But the good
- 10:39Speaker 3: news is when you go live flat, your feet aren't
- 10:42Speaker 3: cramped like you feel like you're in a casket. It's
- 10:45Speaker 3: more wide open. It is it's scary. I mean, when
- 10:49Speaker 3: you sleep, it's like it's like the.
- 10:52Speaker 2: World the roll walls are.
- 10:53Speaker 3: All closing in on you because you're pushing the reclimbent. Anyway,
- 10:56Speaker 3: back to real quick. The movie let Me get off
- 10:59Speaker 3: by so number one, I'm with you. It's epic, it's great,
- 11:02Speaker 3: but it's not going to be everyone's cup of tea.
- 11:06Speaker 3: And that's okay. It's long, it's it's loud, it's violent.
- 11:10Speaker 3: There's some gratuitous stupid language that are thrown away, thrown
- 11:14Speaker 3: around the F bomb a few times, like come on,
- 11:15Speaker 3: they're not saying F and this and F and that
- 11:18Speaker 3: in Odysseus's time, you know, and all of that nonsense.
- 11:24Speaker 3: But but the bottom line is this, if you can,
- 11:27Speaker 3: if you can just slough off and ignore all the
- 11:30Speaker 3: social media noise, just go say I'm gonna go see
- 11:34Speaker 3: this movie and I'll decide for myself without being told
- 11:37Speaker 3: by Matt Walsh, I'm supposed to hate this movie. If
- 11:40Speaker 3: you just go to go, you may have a different
- 11:43Speaker 3: conclusion than hating the movie. Now you may, but you
- 11:47Speaker 3: may legitimately hate it. I don't know, but looks like
- 11:49Speaker 3: I think. But yeah, but you know something, Mark.
- 11:51Speaker 2: May not want to go. You may draw a line
- 11:53Speaker 2: in the sand and go nope, even three minutes of
- 11:55Speaker 2: a transactress, even if it's not a trans character, I'm
- 11:58Speaker 2: out or nope, we're chained and race on people just
- 12:01Speaker 2: to virtue signal nope, I'm out. I have respect for
- 12:05Speaker 2: that point of view. If to say that, I'll I'll
- 12:08Speaker 2: say one thing you don't get to do, one thing
- 12:10Speaker 2: you don't get to do. If that is your position
- 12:12Speaker 2: is comment on whether the movie is good or not
- 12:14Speaker 2: because you don't know if you don't see it.
- 12:16Speaker 3: Well, I also don't think you have a right to
- 12:18Speaker 3: tell somebody like you or me, don't you dare go
- 12:23Speaker 3: you're not allowed to go because I've read.
- 12:25Speaker 2: That there's something the matter with you if you liked it.
- 12:27Speaker 3: Yeah, if you like the movie, there's something wrong with you,
- 12:30Speaker 3: or you're you're a liberal, or you're I mean it's goofy.
- 12:32Speaker 3: Ben Shapiro, by the way, came way out in favor
- 12:35Speaker 3: of it, but many social media influences are just all
- 12:38Speaker 3: are all against it, and they're agassed, and they're more formative.
- 12:42Speaker 2: My word of the year, MIC is performative.
- 12:46Speaker 3: Well, it's all something. Why I didn't mean to interrupt
- 12:52Speaker 3: you. You finished that, But boy, are you reading my mind?
- 12:55Speaker 3: Because look the beauty of the podcast, and one of
- 12:58Speaker 3: the things we love about it is we're sitting around
- 13:01Speaker 3: mapping out a script.
- 13:03Speaker 2: We're not planning. We don't yet if you.
- 13:06Speaker 3: Haven't noticed, this is kind of seat of our pants,
- 13:09Speaker 3: but that's what makes it fun. Now, I admit my
- 13:12Speaker 3: show and probably your show, is much more organized and
- 13:17Speaker 3: more structure. There's more structure, right, Well, I can't believe
- 13:21Speaker 3: I didn't mean interrupt you, but I got so excited
- 13:23Speaker 3: when you said performative because finish that.
- 13:25Speaker 2: Well, let's talk. It's fifteen seconds. We all know, so
- 13:29Speaker 2: it can you can tell what the word means. But
- 13:31Speaker 2: the reason it's a phenomenon now is so many people
- 13:34Speaker 2: doing things, posturing, venting, all of which is fine, but
- 13:39Speaker 2: it seems to be kind of look at me, Look
- 13:41Speaker 2: how virtuous I am. Look how in tune I am.
- 13:46Speaker 2: And they may be bending and accentuating certain things, not
- 13:49Speaker 2: because they necessarily feel that way, but just to be
- 13:52Speaker 2: perceived as feeling a certain way. It's all in another
- 13:55Speaker 2: word of the year, it's all for the optics.
- 13:58Speaker 3: Well, let's talk about takes. Let's talk about performative. Let's
- 14:03Speaker 3: talk about Zoe Run the Destroyer. This is the guy. Well,
- 14:09Speaker 3: I got a Zoe Run the Destroyer update. A couple
- 14:11Speaker 3: of them, actually number one. Tragically and horrifically, a Jewish
- 14:17Speaker 3: man was stabbed on the Upper East Side yesterday by
- 14:22Speaker 3: a guy yelling ala akbar shocker.
- 14:26Speaker 2: Oh wow wow, yells that while attacking Jews anymore. That's
- 14:30Speaker 2: what a surprise.
- 14:31Speaker 3: His motive is unknown, Mark, his motive is clear.
- 14:34Speaker 2: It's for information.
- 14:36Speaker 3: And what Mayor, just a day or two before that attack,
- 14:40Speaker 3: called for the arrest of Benjamin net and Yahoo as
- 14:44Speaker 3: a work criminal. What what Mayor is urging New Yorkers
- 14:47Speaker 3: to take to the streets to protest said war criminal
- 14:51Speaker 3: Benjamin Yahoo. So guess what now? The chickens are coming
- 14:55Speaker 3: home to roost, and the and these cockroaches are coming
- 14:58Speaker 3: out from under their rocks and they're actually tracking down
- 15:01Speaker 3: Jews and plunging a knife into them while screaming a
- 15:06Speaker 3: laa akbar. The other thing this guy has done. And
- 15:09Speaker 3: I'm about I'm about done with this attack on people
- 15:14Speaker 3: who have had some financial success or a lot of
- 15:16Speaker 3: financial success in their life. Okay, he has he has
- 15:20Speaker 3: set his sights on wealthy New Yorkers. Okay, he sent
- 15:25Speaker 3: out a post this week Mark on social media that
- 15:29Speaker 3: I was sure was the Babylon b I thought, there
- 15:32Speaker 3: is no way in hell this guy actually sent this
- 15:36Speaker 3: post to New Yorkers. Here's what he wrote. This is
- 15:39Speaker 3: on his social media account at NYC Mayor. If you
- 15:42Speaker 3: have a second home in New York City worth more
- 15:45Speaker 3: than five million, check your mailbox when you get back
- 15:49Speaker 3: into the five Burroughs, because you've got mail. Today. We
- 15:55Speaker 3: sent notification letters to property owners letting them know that
- 15:58Speaker 3: our new petted tier tax is coming soon. The best
- 16:04Speaker 3: city in the world deserves the best parks, libraries, and
- 16:07Speaker 3: schools in the world. That's only possible when we all
- 16:10Speaker 3: pay our fair share. Now, Mark, not only is he
- 16:13Speaker 3: announcing they're going to tax wealthy New Yorkers who have
- 16:16Speaker 3: a second home worth more than FI five million, dollars.
- 16:19Speaker 3: But he's dunking on them. He's taunting them, he's trolling them.
- 16:23Speaker 3: Check your mail box when you get back in the
- 16:26Speaker 3: five boroughs because you've got mail. Ha ha ha. Aren't
- 16:31Speaker 3: I funny? So he's dunking on people. Now, Now, somebody
- 16:36Speaker 3: put over thirteen thousand people Mark owned second homes in
- 16:39Speaker 3: New York City valued over five million dollars. They are wealthy,
- 16:42Speaker 3: successful people. Right, his tax, his tax is going to
- 16:45Speaker 3: seize five hundred million a year from those thirteen thousand,
- 16:50Speaker 3: and that cash will get handed right to illegals and
- 16:54Speaker 3: handed right to able bodied freeloaders who refuse to go work.
- 16:58Speaker 3: This is communism that we're watching on full display. Mark,
- 17:01Speaker 3: You loot the productive, you reward the useless, and you say,
- 17:05Speaker 3: see that's justice. There's Zo run the destroyer, my friend.
- 17:11Speaker 2: And meanwhile, on the west side, from about Hudson Yards
- 17:15Speaker 2: up to the Intrepid Museum, you have a thirteen thirteen
- 17:18Speaker 2: blocks last I checked, and thirteen block long homeless encampment.
- 17:23Speaker 2: The first time that your city is dying, a large seating,
- 17:27Speaker 2: growing homeless encampment, because Lord knows, Zorn has just the
- 17:30Speaker 2: right policy for that social.
- 17:32Speaker 3: Ill and Mark, he won't let the cops clear them out.
- 17:36Speaker 3: He thinks that's unfair to the to the to the homeless.
- 17:39Speaker 3: I'm not only I don't they call them. I'm sorry,
- 17:42Speaker 3: I was very politically incorrect liberals listening housed, unhoused. I'm
- 17:47Speaker 3: so sorry. They're the unhoused, Mark, and I forgive me
- 17:51Speaker 3: for saying illegal a moment ago. They're the undocumented. Yeah,
- 17:55Speaker 3: they misplaced, They just misplaced their paper. They got them
- 17:58Speaker 3: their papers, They got him back. You must have beaten
- 18:00Speaker 3: into some vision. All right. Now let's go with performative here.
- 18:04Speaker 3: I'm so jazz that you brought up performative. So that's
- 18:06Speaker 3: your word, my word too. Two big minds think, two
- 18:09Speaker 3: great minds, think alike you. But first sixty seconds on
- 18:15Speaker 3: a body scan, a heart scan, a little warning sign
- 18:18Speaker 3: for yours. Truly, you had it this week, and thank god,
- 18:22Speaker 3: thank god, thank god, you're fine. He did the angioplasty.
- 18:25Speaker 3: I don't need that, but I do have a little
- 18:27Speaker 3: bit of a mild artill a hardering thing going on, plaque.
- 18:32Speaker 3: My score is eighty four. Meeting with the doctor in fact,
- 18:34Speaker 3: right after our podcast today. But there's nothing to worry about.
- 18:37Speaker 3: There's nothing I need to do. They're not concerned at all,
- 18:40Speaker 3: but they are concerned about diet and they're concerned about exercise.
- 18:44Speaker 3: I'm on the treadmill. You're doing that. You're doing great.
- 18:47Speaker 3: Lisa's always taking care of you, and I'm going to
- 18:50Speaker 3: be sure I am at my exact goal weight thanks
- 18:54Speaker 3: to PhD Weight Loss and nutrition, Doctor Ashley Lucas's program

- 19:01Speaker 3: with you some news about our pod, our little podcast

- 19:06Speaker 3: sales into the PhD program as a result directly of

- 19:32Speaker 3: it's it's just common sense. But you've got a coach
- 19:35Speaker 3: with you. You've got a program that's based on diet
- 19:37Speaker 3: and data and science. And I lost over fifty I
- 19:41Speaker 3: put some of it back on. In the last month
- 19:43Speaker 3: or so, I've lost twenty one pounds because I wanted
- 19:45Speaker 3: to get back down to goal weight. It works. Call
- 19:48Speaker 3: them now, Mention, Mike and Mark. You're going to get
- 19:50Speaker 3: two free weeks out of to your program and they'll
- 19:52Speaker 3: even pay for the cost of your food, which is
- 19:54Speaker 3: a fifteen hundred dollars value. Call age sixty four six
- 19:57Speaker 3: four four nineteen hundred. And frankly, this messaging for a
- 20:01Speaker 3: place like PhD Weight Loss takes on more urgency for
- 20:04Speaker 3: me with this calcium score because they're telling me that, look,
- 20:08Speaker 3: it's food, it's died, it's what you eat, it's how
- 20:10Speaker 3: you take care of yourself. So make it. Make today
- 20:13Speaker 3: the day you call PhD weight Loss eight six four

- 20:18Speaker 3: you heard about it on the M and M extra
- 20:20Speaker 3: h six four six four four nineteen hundred. Or visit
- 20:23Speaker 3: myphdweight loss dot com myphdweight loss dot com. Mark a
- 20:27Speaker 3: quick thing, a health thing because a couple of boomers
- 20:30Speaker 3: can't resist talking about our healthy Of course, my doctor
- 20:34Speaker 3: believes in IV collation therapy. Have you are you into that?
- 20:39Speaker 3: Have you heard about that?
- 20:40Speaker 2: Well? I've heard about it, and there there are drip
- 20:42Speaker 2: bars you can find so Hooker's for vitamin B stuff,
- 20:46Speaker 2: and they seem to be all the rage here in
- 20:48Speaker 2: the here in Texas.
- 20:49Speaker 3: Flu boosters, cold boosters, and it's an IV treatment. Oh yeah,
- 20:53Speaker 3: they've got these new places. Now, they've got mobile IV
- 20:56Speaker 3: units that come.
- 20:57Speaker 2: To your house, should inject you. I mean, but.
- 21:02Speaker 3: I did it. I did it at home once. Oh no,
- 21:04Speaker 3: I've done it a few times. But do you believe
- 21:06Speaker 3: in it? Do you think it's who do or do
- 21:07Speaker 3: you think it's real?
- 21:08Speaker 2: Oh no, I don't. I don't know what to do.
- 21:11Speaker 2: I don't know what to think. I'm neither a fan
- 21:14Speaker 2: nor a detractor. I am aware it exists. I understand
- 21:17Speaker 2: it's popular. I've heard some folks speak well of it,
- 21:20Speaker 2: so I certainly wouldn't condemn it or wave anybody off
- 21:22Speaker 2: of it. I think I'm probably hesitant to dive in.
- 21:26Speaker 2: I mean part. I mean it's it's either genuinely successful
- 21:30Speaker 2: or it's kind of a fad. I don't know what
- 21:32Speaker 2: did you on? What occasion did you do it? And
- 21:34Speaker 2: what for?
- 21:35Speaker 3: Well I've done I tell you funnies, you're gonna make
- 21:39Speaker 3: fun I don't want to tell you this story. Here
- 21:41Speaker 3: we go.
- 21:42Speaker 2: I don't.
- 21:42Speaker 3: I don't want to tell you this story. You're gonna
- 21:44Speaker 3: make your mock me, Okay. So I go out to
- 21:47Speaker 3: see Dennis Praeger in Los Angeles after he fell and
- 21:51Speaker 3: for he was in the he was in the hospital,
- 21:53Speaker 3: and I just and I went. I flew out there
- 21:55Speaker 3: to see him, and I was going to get on
- 21:57Speaker 3: another plane to go back after our visit in the
- 22:00Speaker 3: but it was a great visit. I was so glad
- 22:02Speaker 3: to see him. And by the way, update on Dennis.
- 22:05Speaker 3: We have a co worker, Rob Ellis, who works down
- 22:07Speaker 3: the hall from you, who flew flew flew to see
- 22:10Speaker 3: Dennis at his place right now where he is working
- 22:13Speaker 3: on getting better. And of course he's he's a quadriplegic,
- 22:16Speaker 3: but they are really really trying every experimental treatment, every
- 22:21Speaker 3: stem cell therapy, you name it. He's got the best
- 22:26Speaker 3: care in the world. And Rob said that Dennis was great,
- 22:30Speaker 3: he looked great. He was, you know, just conversing and
- 22:33Speaker 3: grateful for Salem. And so he's he's doing well. He's
- 22:37Speaker 3: got his precious Sue by his side. So and I
- 22:39Speaker 3: want to help over and see him there too. So
- 22:42Speaker 3: but I went out to see him, like just about
- 22:43Speaker 3: two weeks after he was in the hospital. I sit
- 22:47Speaker 3: next to a guy. I know he left his left
- 22:51Speaker 3: lung on the floor with all the hacking and coughing.
- 22:54Speaker 3: I know that his part of his right lung was
- 22:57Speaker 3: splattered all over the water. This guy, I'm sitting there,
- 23:02Speaker 3: I'm trying to put my face. I'm on the window
- 23:05Speaker 3: and I'm trying to stick my face like against the window,
- 23:08Speaker 3: trying to avoid the germs that are flying and ps.
- 23:12Speaker 3: Fun fact, never put his arm over his mouth, so
- 23:15Speaker 3: he's just he's just spewing crap.
- 23:18Speaker 2: I'm doing the vampire cough, as we've all been told.
- 23:20Speaker 2: That's right.
- 23:21Speaker 3: No, no, hello, I've gone lad No, no, the whole
- 23:24Speaker 3: first class is now infected with whatever the bubonic plague.
- 23:28Speaker 3: I get off the plane, I thought, oh my lord,
- 23:30Speaker 3: I can't see Dennis because now whatever that guy gave me.
- 23:34Speaker 3: Sure you know, I was very worried about it.
- 23:36Speaker 2: I have a proper concern about having contracted something from
- 23:40Speaker 2: someone there in the petrie dish of an airplane, and
- 23:42Speaker 2: you didn't want to impart that to our fragile colleague.
- 23:46Speaker 3: For this from this inconsiderate jerk who gets on it.
- 23:51Speaker 3: Mark if you were sick as a dog. And look,
- 23:53Speaker 3: I'm going to tell you, he said at the end.
- 23:55Speaker 3: And I couldn't help myself. I could not keep my
- 23:58Speaker 3: mouth shut. I never there's never account of ffrontation with
- 24:00Speaker 3: people in public. Despite what I do for a living
- 24:02Speaker 3: and what you do, you don't like. We don't like confrontation.
- 24:05Speaker 3: I mean, I don't want somebody double milkshake on my
- 24:08Speaker 3: head or anything. Oh that's hard. I already been there,
- 24:10Speaker 3: done that. The guy as we get we're walking off
- 24:12Speaker 3: the plane, he looks around and says, goll yah, boy,
- 24:15Speaker 3: am I sick?
- 24:17Speaker 2: Boy? Am I sick today? Well?
- 24:19Speaker 3: See so he it wasn't like sure what allergies? So
- 24:23Speaker 3: I said to him, yeah, maybe it would have been
- 24:26Speaker 3: a good idea to wait a little bit before he
- 24:28Speaker 3: got on a plane. And he just he didn't ignore me.
- 24:31Speaker 2: He didn't.
- 24:32Speaker 3: He just ignored me and kind of slinked off.
- 24:34Speaker 2: Anyway.
- 24:34Speaker 3: First thing I did after I got off the plane,
- 24:37Speaker 3: it's la. They got one of those ivy boost joints
- 24:40Speaker 3: on every every corner. That's a she she la Hollywood
- 24:45Speaker 3: thing to do. I got my butt in there and
- 24:47Speaker 3: got a one hour long drip, drip, drip.
- 24:50Speaker 2: It was the c of what is it just some
- 24:53Speaker 2: general purpose fluid magic things that's designed to purd you
- 24:56Speaker 2: from whatever cooties you just got on the plane. Well,
- 24:59Speaker 2: it flushes.
- 25:00Speaker 3: It flushes you with vitamin B, vitamin C, vitamin E.
- 25:05Speaker 3: It's called like a flu in cold booster and ps.
- 25:08Speaker 3: I promise. When I got to that hospital room, I
- 25:11Speaker 3: didn't want to explain it to them, but I stayed
- 25:13Speaker 3: on the other corner of the room. I was as
- 25:15Speaker 3: far away from Dennis just as I could be. I thought,
- 25:18Speaker 3: I'm not getting up and hugging on him or sitting
- 25:21Speaker 3: on the edge of the bet or anything. So these
- 25:23Speaker 3: are so back to my point, since you've had a
- 25:25Speaker 3: calcium score and you and.
- 25:27Speaker 2: Here's what I got to know before we finished the
- 25:28Speaker 2: keelation story for it. Yeah, I know these are southern
- 25:31Speaker 2: California prices. How much was that bad boy? Four hundred
- 25:34Speaker 2: and ninety nine dollars many Christmas? Yep, yep, all right,
- 25:39Speaker 2: it didn't mean to well, I know it's it ain't cheap,
- 25:41Speaker 2: I mean, and some of them aren't. I mean, they're
- 25:43Speaker 2: typically I think in real in like a real part
- 25:46Speaker 2: of the country. I'll bet in Texas it's one ninety
- 25:48Speaker 2: nine or maybe ninety nine, and you.
- 25:51Speaker 3: Could look it up. But there are people that swear
- 25:53Speaker 3: by them. They say, look, they feel better. They've got
- 25:56Speaker 3: it for. And what my doctor believes is that they've
- 26:00Speaker 3: got a collation IV treatment for PLAQ. Plaque in your
- 26:06Speaker 3: in your arm, flush out in your air well. It
- 26:08Speaker 3: doesn't flush it out, I don't think, but he claimed
- 26:10Speaker 3: he believes it reduces it. Now I go to chat GPT.
- 26:15Speaker 2: Yes, and it is my doctor a quak right.
- 26:19Speaker 3: It it did everything, But say does your doctor also
- 26:23Speaker 3: do leeches, blood letting and does he take out your teeth?
- 26:27Speaker 3: I mean it basically said absolutely not. Your Your calcium
- 26:31Speaker 3: score is your calcium score. It doesn't dissipate in any way,
- 26:35Speaker 3: shape or form when the plaque is in there. The
- 26:37Speaker 3: plaque is in there, you can either maybe do a
- 26:39Speaker 3: stent to open it up, but you ain't gonna That
- 26:42Speaker 3: plaque is not gonna go down. So I've got an
- 26:45Speaker 3: appointment with him in about forty five minutes. I can't
- 26:47Speaker 3: wait till I say chat GPT. See it says you're
- 26:51Speaker 3: a witch doctor, So you're gonna pay money for an
- 26:53Speaker 3: appointment to go be rate your doctor. That's yes, yes, yes,
- 26:57Speaker 3: I'm gonna pay to go yell at my doctor and
- 26:59Speaker 3: say what did you tell me? Well, no, he's going
- 27:02Speaker 3: to go over the results with me. I would like
- 27:04Speaker 3: some analysis does does does via scan of los Calinas.
- 27:08Speaker 3: You've got this great relationship with doctor Duncan, right, do
- 27:11Speaker 3: they they go over the results with you? Or do
- 27:14Speaker 3: they want you to go to your personal physicians?
- 27:15Speaker 2: No? No, no, you sit down with doctor Duncan and you
- 27:18Speaker 2: get the slide, the full big screen cross section of
- 27:23Speaker 2: every vital or you have and interesting, absolutely superb. Now, well,
- 27:28Speaker 2: obviously if there are things that say, hey, maybe you
- 27:31Speaker 2: should go get a CT and geogram from your actual cardiologist,
- 27:34Speaker 2: which is what he said for me to do, for
- 27:36Speaker 2: which I'm grateful, then you go do that and then
- 27:38Speaker 2: it ramps up from there.
- 27:40Speaker 3: Well, how interestingly enough, I hear Craft body scan here
- 27:44Speaker 3: in the Tampa Bay area. I guess that maybe it's
- 27:46Speaker 3: part of the full body scan. But with the heart
- 27:48Speaker 3: lung they basically just they send you the report, They
- 27:51Speaker 3: answer any questions you might have. There's a PA. They
- 27:53Speaker 3: don't have a doctor, but they have a PA, a
- 27:55Speaker 3: physician's assistant who.
- 27:56Speaker 2: Kind of reads it.
- 27:57Speaker 3: But then I think they really want you to go
- 27:59Speaker 3: to your doc, and which I've done. I forwarded the
- 28:01Speaker 3: reports and I'm going to see my doctor later today
- 28:04Speaker 3: and we're gonna have that interesting conversation.
- 28:06Speaker 2: So any I have a Yasmin question and observation because
- 28:09Speaker 2: of this, assume this is her handiwork. Moments ago, we're
- 28:11Speaker 2: sitting there talking about the keilation. Well, you and I
- 28:13Speaker 2: were talking. There was a video of a guy with
- 28:16Speaker 2: a thing in his arm, sitting in a big comfy chair,
- 28:18Speaker 2: little kehlation b roll. That would be Yasmin's handiwork.
- 28:21Speaker 3: Correct, I it has it is, and I'm gonna I'm
- 28:24Speaker 3: gonna give you a backstory about Yasmin and video in
- 28:27Speaker 3: a mill.
- 28:29Speaker 2: Here's the thing that I need because I sent her
- 28:30Speaker 2: as we now finally prepare as soon as you're ready,
- 28:33Speaker 2: soon as the world is ready for my big reveal
- 28:35Speaker 2: on this glowing TV review I've got. I sent her
- 28:39Speaker 2: a still photo of like a poster. Is that thing
- 28:43Speaker 2: ready to fire?
- 28:44Speaker 3: We can't use it, yeah, I can't. You use it
- 28:46Speaker 3: copyright protected? So we got to be still images. I
- 28:51Speaker 3: can't hear it, but she said it's copyright protected. Yeah, gotcha,
- 28:55Speaker 3: it's totally copyright protected. And we gotta be careful because
- 28:59Speaker 3: apparently YouTube's real diligent about it, and we don't want to,
- 29:03Speaker 3: you know, but but look, but we want to follow
- 29:05Speaker 3: the rules. And I appreciate that they're all protecting everybody's
- 29:08Speaker 3: you know, what do you call your property? Intellectual property?
- 29:12Speaker 3: Intellectual property, And so we're gonna be very mindful of that.
- 29:15Speaker 2: I know that applies to music, and I know it
- 29:16Speaker 2: applied to a lot of other things. But I sent
- 29:19Speaker 2: her a like an image, a poster. You know they
- 29:21Speaker 2: can do They can do their own googling problem. Sorry,
- 29:24Speaker 2: you're not going to play it, and let me tell
- 29:28Speaker 2: you how good. But let me tell you how good
- 29:30Speaker 2: she is. And I know I don't give her enough
- 29:32Speaker 2: credit on air. I try to give her credit off
- 29:34Speaker 2: the air. It's she got tough job. I mean, let
- 29:36Speaker 2: me tell you something Eric's got. Between Eric and Yasmin,
- 29:40Speaker 2: the two of them do the work of about nine people.
- 29:43Speaker 2: I am.
- 29:44Speaker 3: I'm in awe because let me tell you about Yasmin,
- 29:46Speaker 3: and I've noticed the same thing out of the clear blue.
- 29:50Speaker 3: We start talking about ivy collation, the therapy. Seconds later, boom,
- 29:54Speaker 3: seconds and I'm telling she might be a wizard, she
- 29:58Speaker 3: might have some mystical abilities, because I don't know how
- 30:02Speaker 3: she finds it. She must have a all I can figure,
- 30:04Speaker 3: and she's probably never gonna tell me because she wants
- 30:06Speaker 3: to keep it a mystery. I think our our video producer, Yasmin,
- 30:10Speaker 3: has like an alphabetized library of stock video. And by
- 30:16Speaker 3: the way, that's all copyright safe. We were very careful.
- 30:19Speaker 2: About it is.
- 30:21Speaker 3: But you know something, I think she must be able
- 30:24Speaker 3: to find I don't know how she does it.
- 30:26Speaker 2: I don't want to know how.
- 30:27Speaker 3: I don't want to know how she does it. She
- 30:29Speaker 3: gave me some technical, technical explanation this morning. I'm like, Yasmin,
- 30:32Speaker 3: I don't know what even language you're speaking. I don't
- 30:35Speaker 3: need just okay, I get it. Whatever, we got to go.
- 30:38Speaker 3: But she is so dog gone good. So kudos to Yasmin,
- 30:43Speaker 3: Kudos to Eric, thanks to Tracy. All of them are
- 30:47Speaker 3: as invested in this podcast as we are. And we're
- 30:50Speaker 3: so thankful for the for our team. We've got a great,
- 30:53Speaker 3: great team, and I'm so I'm so thoroughly grateful.
- 30:56Speaker 2: So anyway, there's one thing I want to do before
- 30:59Speaker 2: I do the big TV reveal because I know that's
- 31:01Speaker 2: your time. I got this, and that is that I'm
- 31:03Speaker 2: very excited about something else that's going to be revealed
- 31:05Speaker 2: in my home because I got a little announcement of
- 31:08Speaker 2: a shipment of something that is on the way, and
- 31:10Speaker 2: that is my relief Factor is on the way.
- 31:13Speaker 3: It is oh good when it should get there today
- 31:16Speaker 3: or TOMORROWMOTPK.
- 31:17Speaker 2: Sometime over the weekend. So all once I get I'm
- 31:20Speaker 2: gonna start popping those and see all my gosh rotator
- 31:23Speaker 2: cuff thing that just bugs me some days. It's just
- 31:26Speaker 2: it's the perfect relief Factor thing. It's not somebody to go,
- 31:29Speaker 2: you know, for some other type of medical procedure. But
- 31:31Speaker 2: it's just one of those little aches and pains that
- 31:34Speaker 2: I would like to not have. And apparently, and all
- 31:37Speaker 2: I've done is here you and every other sale most
- 31:38Speaker 2: talk about relief Factor forever. So maybe it's about time
- 31:42Speaker 2: I saw just what this stuff was about.
- 31:45Speaker 3: I was so worried yesterday when I asked you, Mark,
- 31:48Speaker 3: would you mind joining me and take Relief Factor with me?
- 31:51Speaker 3: If let's just get Can I give it a try?
- 31:53Speaker 3: Can we give you the three week quick start and
- 31:55Speaker 3: see if it works for you, and and it was
- 31:57Speaker 3: dumb of me to ask you publicly, and I I
- 32:01Speaker 3: want to apologize, but you were so gracious and you said,

- 33:16Speaker 3: thank them because this is all a win win. We
- 33:18Speaker 3: want we want people to look. Advertising marketing is part
- 33:22Speaker 3: of what we do for a living, and we're going
- 33:24Speaker 3: to dive in next week with some really good additional
- 33:27Speaker 3: sponsors to the minem.
- 33:28Speaker 2: Do you know how perfect this is? Because the new
- 33:31Speaker 2: sponsor will tease a little bit. Is is it involves
- 33:34Speaker 2: streaming and consumption of the culture in a way that
- 33:37Speaker 2: is family safe, which is a really big appetite these
- 33:41Speaker 2: days because there's a lot of content out there that's
- 33:43Speaker 2: pretty rough and pretty just from between violence and sexual
- 33:46Speaker 2: content and all kinds of things. You try to navigate this.
- 33:48Speaker 2: You got kids, or maybe just your own adult sensibilities,
- 33:51Speaker 2: you don't want to have those rattled. So that's what
- 33:53Speaker 2: that new sponsor is going to be about. And in
- 33:55Speaker 2: revealing this TV show. Now, finally, that is top for
- 34:00Speaker 2: me forever. I'm just going to flat out tell you
- 34:03Speaker 2: a number of things true at the same time. Simply
- 34:05Speaker 2: spectacular writing, acting, directing, concept, set design, costumes all ten
- 34:13Speaker 2: out of ten. You are absolutely going to have to
- 34:16Speaker 2: navigate this. This show ain't blanket around. Lisa and I
- 34:21Speaker 2: would constantly look at each other. Boy, this show is
- 34:23Speaker 2: not screwing around in terms of a lot of it
- 34:26Speaker 2: takes place in wartime, so you got they do not
- 34:29Speaker 2: get around with violence. There are some relationships, some romantic
- 34:34Speaker 2: angles to this, So you got some sex happening. And
- 34:37Speaker 2: I'm going to talk about that in a minute, about
- 34:39Speaker 2: sex and movies and TVs and and how that works
- 34:42Speaker 2: and that what in the world do the how do
- 34:44Speaker 2: the actors even do that? We'll get to that in
- 34:46Speaker 2: a second, because it here we go. Lisa comes to
- 34:52Speaker 2: me with a show. Her sister Carmen has been watching
- 34:55Speaker 2: it and both the one when there it is there there.
- 34:58Speaker 2: It is a podcast people. It is a little thing
- 35:02Speaker 2: called Outlander, born of a series of books from a
- 35:05Speaker 2: woman named Diana Gabbldon. I believe I got that right,
- 35:08Speaker 2: and she wrote like nine or ten of them, and
- 35:11Speaker 2: what you have is a couple in the forties, a
- 35:14Speaker 2: man and a woman, and they're on a honeymoon in Scotland,
- 35:18Speaker 2: and part of their Scottish sojourn is she wanders up
- 35:21Speaker 2: to this mystical area with these large standing stones, picks
- 35:25Speaker 2: some flowers, leans into one of the magic stones, and
- 35:30Speaker 2: suddenly she's knocked backward and she wakes up and she's
- 35:34Speaker 2: in I want to say, the year seventeen fifty three,
- 35:38Speaker 2: wearing her current clothes, which is kind of a problem,
- 35:40Speaker 2: and she kind of realized at first she thinks, am
- 35:42Speaker 2: I on a movie set? Because there's people running around
- 35:44Speaker 2: with muskets? What Teck's going on here? So I'm instantly
- 35:47Speaker 2: hooked because I'm miss her time travel love this premise.
- 35:51Speaker 2: But what unfolds is a love story, a war story,
- 35:56Speaker 2: a historical journey that goes all the way from Europe
- 35:59Speaker 2: to America to where all these characters are extremely central
- 36:03Speaker 2: in the American revolutionary period. There is so much to
- 36:07Speaker 2: love here that my head and my heart nearly exploded. Outlander,
- 36:11Speaker 2: It's eight seasons are as good as television gets. And
- 36:15Speaker 2: I'm gonna tell you, since it's on Stars or streaming
- 36:19Speaker 2: on whatever you'd stream through, and it's not like on
- 36:21Speaker 2: a Netflix or an HBO or a Amazon or something
- 36:25Speaker 2: like that, right, I think it gets sidelined and marginalized.
- 36:29Speaker 2: And the awards that they've gotten are from sort of
- 36:31Speaker 2: the sci fi fantasy, comic con dork world, which I
- 36:34Speaker 2: don't know whatever, and I'm just I'm just gonna tell
- 36:38Speaker 2: you that they act. It's just one of the finest
- 36:40Speaker 2: things I've ever ever seen. We cried like babies watching
- 36:45Speaker 2: the finale yesterday, episode ten of season eight. I can't
- 36:49Speaker 2: say enough good things about it. And as I release
- 36:52Speaker 2: everybody to go take a look at it. If you've
- 36:54Speaker 2: got a thing about violence, it's there's a lot of
- 36:57Speaker 2: war and you you they are not kidding around it,
- 37:00Speaker 2: and it's but it's not gratuitous. It's to show some
- 37:03Speaker 2: of the horrors of the situation. I'm sitting there thinking, man,
- 37:06Speaker 2: I'm glad I don't have an injured leg in seventeen
- 37:08Speaker 2: fifty three or something like that. Now, Claire and Jamie,
- 37:13Speaker 2: the protagonist couple, are one of the most amazing romantic
- 37:16Speaker 2: relationships I've ever seen. And the big thing was, I
- 37:18Speaker 2: thought this one of Lisa's adorable hallmark ish romance things. Well,
- 37:23Speaker 2: heck no it's not. It was meaty and incredible, and
- 37:27Speaker 2: I went from tolerating it to loving it to now
- 37:29Speaker 2: gushing about it as I am. But every episode or
- 37:32Speaker 2: two or a couple of times, there are going to
- 37:34Speaker 2: be some people having some sex, and well, there you are.
- 37:37Speaker 2: And it's not like we're going ad fast forwarding, but
- 37:40Speaker 2: it's like, okay, are we done here? And it had
- 37:43Speaker 2: me thinking about some things. Number One, I don't really
- 37:46Speaker 2: need that if maybe get a couple of seconds in
- 37:49Speaker 2: and then do a quick cut, you know. But the
- 37:51Speaker 2: other thing that I think of is the act. Okay,
- 37:55Speaker 2: we were talking about acting today. Acting, Uh, how do
- 37:59Speaker 2: you do that when you have a husband or a
- 38:01Speaker 2: wife at home? I know we're not having actual sex,
- 38:04Speaker 2: but golly, moses, man, you're butt naked and you're you know,
- 38:10Speaker 2: glomming on to who knows what? How do people do?
- 38:14Speaker 2: Can I suppose I've thought about that for a for
- 38:16Speaker 2: a long time.
- 38:16Speaker 3: Can I answer that because I happen to have some
- 38:19Speaker 3: first tend knowledge of that, please? I have two friends,
- 38:22Speaker 3: a married couple who are both very successful stage, film
- 38:27Speaker 3: and TV actors. They're they're married and they on occasion,
- 38:33Speaker 3: have to do the full fledged love scenes with with
- 38:37Speaker 3: with their fellow actors, not with each other. And in
- 38:41Speaker 3: both of their well not yeah, no, in both of
- 38:44Speaker 3: their cases they had to do what appeared to be
- 38:47Speaker 3: nude scenes. Now they're not really they're not new well,
- 38:50Speaker 3: they're not nude like a sock or yeah, they've got
- 38:54Speaker 3: like they've got different things that kind of protect parts
- 38:57Speaker 3: of their their genitals and all that that. You got
- 39:00Speaker 3: to remember, you got eighty people on a set watching you.
- 39:04Speaker 3: But it's all it is all acting. It is all
- 39:07Speaker 3: not it's not really naked, but they have to make
- 39:10Speaker 3: it look real. And and I can tell you with
- 39:13Speaker 3: with great candor and I can confirm what you're asking.
- 39:18Speaker 3: It's difficult for both of them. They both have they
- 39:22Speaker 3: both have a hard time with it. They don't they
- 39:25Speaker 3: don't love it. It's not their favorite part of their crews.
- 39:27Speaker 2: And it's not just sexual scenes where you can cover
- 39:30Speaker 2: some things but not others. I mean, what about those
- 39:34Speaker 2: Those are boobies. Those are actual boobies, and there's no mess,
- 39:38Speaker 2: I mean there there's no nothing covering those up. And
- 39:40Speaker 2: the act The actress is a woman named Katrina bal
- 39:43Speaker 2: She's Irish. The actual Scottish actor replays Jamie is Sam Hewan.
- 39:48Speaker 2: They are there, Their chemistry is it pours off the screen.
- 39:53Speaker 2: And they did this for a decade and I'm thinking,
- 39:54Speaker 2: do they have husbands and wives? How do how do
- 39:56Speaker 2: you not after a decade of that?
- 40:00Speaker 3: That's why No, But it's still tough. They're humans. They're
- 40:03Speaker 3: they're they're human beings. They're bond is obvious. They're bond.
- 40:06Speaker 3: You can't not bond now that I want to tell
- 40:08Speaker 3: you a story. But you you you watched did you
- 40:10Speaker 3: watch Tulsa King with Sylvester Still? Yeah, Yeah, there's a
- 40:16Speaker 3: character in that named cal Thresher. He runs for governor
- 40:19Speaker 3: of Oklahoma or something. White haired actor villain, but then
- 40:22Speaker 3: not a villain if he's an actor named Neil McDonough.
- 40:26Speaker 3: Neil McDonough. I know he's googling.
- 40:28Speaker 2: You'll go, oh, I've seen I've seen him in a
- 40:30Speaker 2: few things he apparently has. He has he has a policy,
- 40:34Speaker 2: I won't kiss a woman. I will not, I won't.
- 40:37Speaker 2: I just he's lost a lot of game, one hundred percent,
- 40:41Speaker 2: hurt his career, but he said, I just won't do it.
- 40:44Speaker 2: I am married. I know it's acting. And I know
- 40:46Speaker 2: I'm not going to have an affair. I know it,
- 40:47Speaker 2: I know it, But on principle, I'm just not going
- 40:50Speaker 2: to kiss. Needless to say, am I going to roll
- 40:53Speaker 2: around half naked with a woman on a TV show
- 40:55Speaker 2: or a movie? And that was his principle and I
- 40:57Speaker 2: have huge respect for that.
- 40:59Speaker 3: Well, I'm going to tell you that I based on
- 41:02Speaker 3: your description of Outlanders, I'm gonna hate Outlander.
- 41:07Speaker 2: I'm going to you have Scottish accents so thick, the
- 41:11Speaker 2: access and the way you're describing it.
- 41:14Speaker 3: I mean, it's just like I mean, but here. But
- 41:17Speaker 3: here's the difference. Not because you know I've got any
- 41:20Speaker 3: better taste. You you've got better taste than I am.
- 41:22Speaker 3: In fact, I always think in the world of movies
- 41:24Speaker 3: and TVs and stuff, you're a tuxedo and I'm a
- 41:28Speaker 3: leisure suit.
- 41:29Speaker 2: You want to know what? You want to know what?
- 41:31Speaker 2: You know what my binge is.
- 41:32Speaker 3: Right now that I've started up again because i love
- 41:34Speaker 3: the binge series, Uh, the Sopranos, I'm.
- 41:38Speaker 2: Back to episode. It's magnificent.
- 41:40Speaker 3: It's to me. But but yeah, but it's a leisure
- 41:44Speaker 3: suit compared to a tucks I mean, it's it's it's
- 41:46Speaker 3: a mafia thing and it's with a Jersey sopran You know.
- 41:49Speaker 2: Here's the weird thing. The Sopranos was on HBO, right,
- 41:52Speaker 2: that's where it came from. Yeah, it was held in
- 41:55Speaker 2: lofty regard and was bombarded with deserving accolades and awards.
- 42:01Speaker 2: Outlanders as superb as I've identified as being in my mind,
- 42:05Speaker 2: is in that kind of fringe suburban stars sign. It's
- 42:10Speaker 2: it's kind of a step child.
- 42:12Speaker 3: Might like it, I might like it. I may give
- 42:14Speaker 3: it a chance. By the way, you mentioned Rocky and
- 42:16Speaker 3: Sylvester Stallone one of the trailers last night when I
- 42:20Speaker 3: went to see The Odyssey. Have you seen the trailer
- 42:22Speaker 3: for I Play Rocky?
- 42:26Speaker 2: Oh, it's a documentary about me.
- 42:29Speaker 3: No, No, it's a it's a it's a draw, a
- 42:33Speaker 3: dramatized biopic of Sylvester Stallone and the making. Did I
- 42:39Speaker 3: say biopic?
- 42:41Speaker 2: Yes?
- 42:43Speaker 3: Is it biopic? I always thought it was bioprotical.
- 42:44Speaker 2: It's a it's a bio. It's a biographical picture, a
- 42:48Speaker 2: bio pick I've never I didn't know that.
- 42:50Speaker 3: Well, I've probably never used that word in a sentence.
- 42:52Speaker 3: So maybe finally I get caught biopic yes, I've seen
- 42:58Speaker 3: that word for one hundred years. I was thought it
- 43:00Speaker 3: was bio Biop's like a medical t I'm like, well
- 43:03Speaker 3: to yeah, doctor, right, I'm going to take a biopic
- 43:05Speaker 3: culture biopsy, so biopic, all right, it's a biopic of
- 43:10Speaker 3: Sylvester Stallone making how Rocky came to be and market story.
- 43:17Speaker 2: And the trailer.
- 43:18Speaker 3: The first of all, the guy playing Sylvester Stallone sounds
- 43:22Speaker 3: and looks just like a young Sylvester Stallone, sounds just
- 43:26Speaker 3: like him.
- 43:27Speaker 2: When you're doing a movie and you're trying I have
- 43:29Speaker 2: huge respect for that if they can pull it off,
- 43:31Speaker 2: because look at the Michael Jackson movie, the Michael thing. Yes,
- 43:34Speaker 2: they went and got a relative. They and got his
- 43:36Speaker 2: nephew who looks just like him. But when you've got
- 43:38Speaker 2: somebody whose actual image is still so currently burned into
- 43:41Speaker 2: our consciousness and you're going to try to portray him
- 43:43Speaker 2: with another actor, it better be good.
- 43:45Speaker 3: You'd think it was a young Stylvester Sylvester Stallone. And
- 43:48Speaker 3: just the trailer and then they show scenes in the
- 43:51Speaker 3: movie where they're recreating the iconic scenes from the Rocky
- 43:56Speaker 3: movie and it looks just like the scenes, because I mean,
- 44:00Speaker 3: look we all love Rocky. America loves that movie. But
- 44:03Speaker 3: the story was so cool. The trailer does a little reveal.
- 44:09Speaker 3: Stallone is quoted in the in the in the trailer
- 44:11Speaker 3: as saying to his girlfriend, I guess at the time
- 44:14Speaker 3: or somebody, nobody will see me as an actor. Nobody's
- 44:18Speaker 3: giving me any parts. I can't get any gigs. I'm
- 44:22Speaker 3: gonna have to write my own screenplay in order to
- 44:25Speaker 3: get any work. He wrote Rocky in three days to
- 44:29Speaker 3: get the work. And that's the whole hook of the movie.
- 44:32Speaker 3: Because the producers they love the script. They said, we
- 44:35Speaker 3: got to get this done. Oh my gosh. And he said,
- 44:38Speaker 3: and they said, we've got some ideas for who's going
- 44:40Speaker 3: to play Rocky. He goes, no, no, no, no, I play Rocky.
- 44:43Speaker 2: And they look at an im lesson of us of
- 44:45Speaker 2: using the script is yeah.
- 44:47Speaker 3: They pushed back hard well that he won and look
- 44:50Speaker 3: and the rest is history. So check that out. I
- 44:52Speaker 3: think it's coming around Thanksgiving. I play Rocky. I play Rocky.
- 44:56Speaker 3: You're just a national treasure. Has he made some stuff
- 44:59Speaker 3: that's just incredibly cheesy? Of course he has. But all
- 45:02Speaker 3: the all the Rocky movies really quite good.
- 45:04Speaker 2: In Tulsa King a Taylor Shardan production.
- 45:08Speaker 3: Yes, another tailor sharedon might Good and My and My
- 45:12Speaker 3: Brush with a Little Fame, my six degrees. I had
- 45:16Speaker 3: friends that were in the musical. Yes, they did a
- 45:19Speaker 3: musical on Broadway of Rocky. I see you, I see.
- 45:25Speaker 3: I know. Well it didn't it didn't last.
- 45:27Speaker 2: Snappy tunes, you.
- 45:29Speaker 3: Know it didn't last.
- 45:31Speaker 2: I Apollos dead, and I'm really upset about that.
- 45:35Speaker 3: You know, it didn't last. It didn't. They didn't exactly
- 45:39Speaker 3: make back their investment. But anyway, I went to opening
- 45:42Speaker 3: night and guess who I got to meet? Sylvester Stallone,
- 45:46Speaker 3: his own self, his own self, he came to the
- 45:49Speaker 3: to the opening night and I, yeah, he's not tall
- 45:53Speaker 3: at all. He's surprisingly short. Uh ask Alexa, how much
- 45:57Speaker 3: how tall he is? You have your your little box?
- 45:59Speaker 2: Ever by how tall is Sylvester Stallone? Sylvester Stallone is
- 46:05Speaker 2: about five feet nine inches five five to nine. Well,
- 46:08Speaker 2: that's with heels, that's with living. No, No, I think
- 46:10Speaker 2: I think I think Alexa takes that into into consideration.
- 46:14Speaker 2: We just fired off every Alexa in every podcast audience
- 46:17Speaker 2: worth some Sorry. You can apparently change your you can
- 46:21Speaker 2: change the name on your thing. I could apparently change
- 46:24Speaker 2: the name and call it Bill or Fred or you know,
- 46:27Speaker 2: or or Wilma or something like that, but I don't
- 46:29Speaker 2: want to do that. Oh boy, all right, go watch
- 46:32Speaker 2: out everybody, Go do Outlander.
- 46:34Speaker 3: Go see how I just can't do Scottish Scottish accent.
- 46:38Speaker 3: I can't do accents. What you got to do, is you?
- 46:40Speaker 2: But oh yeah, lad, oh Roger Mack, you go, said
- 46:43Speaker 2: Jimmie and Claire. You got to go out there to
- 46:46Speaker 2: the stones and touch the stones and you're hell in
- 46:48Speaker 2: love and you've gotta time travel. You'll be in the
- 46:50Speaker 2: twentieth century, you'll be in the eighteenth century. You'll be
- 46:53Speaker 2: in in and out. Better go, You'll like the Kelation
- 46:55Speaker 2: therapy Kehlation for five hundred dollars because you're crazy, man,
- 47:00Speaker 2: Ye crazy, very good. Yes, my problem. My Scottish people
- 47:05Speaker 2: are Scotty from Star Trek. They're all James doing it.
- 47:07Speaker 2: I love it. I got no power.
- 47:09Speaker 3: I love theater and I like to play roles in
- 47:12Speaker 3: especially musical theater. And I was cast in Dallas's Majestic
- 47:16Speaker 3: Theater to play mister Bumble in a production of Oliver
- 47:20Speaker 3: and The director was Ryl Denson, who is this wonderful,
- 47:24Speaker 3: lovely I loved her so much and she's one of
- 47:27Speaker 3: Dallas area's best directors. I don't know if she's been
- 47:29Speaker 3: active lately or what's what where she is, but she
- 47:32Speaker 3: she realized they cast a guy to play mister Bumble
- 47:36Speaker 3: in a British musical called Oliver that can't do a
- 47:40Speaker 3: British accent. And so we started doing rehearsal. I mean
- 47:43Speaker 3: I tried, and I I kind of pulled it off,
- 47:47Speaker 3: but not really. I don't I can't do accents. Yeah yeah, yeah,
- 47:51Speaker 3: I mean and I couldn't do it. I'm good and
- 47:55Speaker 3: I but my British act all my accents stink. And
- 47:59Speaker 3: so three coach, three rehearsals in Chryl calls me after
- 48:05Speaker 3: a rehearsal and she calls me over and was like
- 48:07Speaker 3: it was like being called to the to the principal's office.
- 48:10Speaker 3: And she said, Mike, really, you're a nice guy, and
- 48:14Speaker 3: you're you're delivering. Your delivery is great and you look
- 48:17Speaker 3: the part and they gave me a fast suit and everything.
- 48:19Speaker 3: She said, is there any should I hold out any
- 48:23Speaker 3: hope at all that you have any chance of developing
- 48:27Speaker 3: something close to a legitimate English accent.
- 48:30Speaker 2: I was like Cris and Robin Hood.
- 48:33Speaker 3: Oh yeah yeah, or or or or or or uh,
- 48:37Speaker 3: Dick Van Dyke and Mary Poppins and Mary Poppins. That's awful,
- 48:41Speaker 3: and that plagued him for years and years. Everybody made
- 48:44Speaker 3: fun of the fact that you're horrible. Well they're better
- 48:46Speaker 3: than me. I have a terrible but I pulled it off.
