Transcript
- 0:06Hello. What's your least favorite scary
- 0:08movie? Why did you go live?
- 0:12Welcome to What's Your Least Favorite Scary Movie?
- 0:14The podcast where we talk about the good, the bad, the ugly and
- 0:17the absurd, and all of our favorite and least favorite
- 0:19scary movies. Because we believe every horror
- 0:21movie rightfully has its fan base.
- 0:23Even if we don't always get it. My name is Travis.
- 0:25My name is Jesse and welcome back to another live, uncut and
- 0:28mostly undrawn monthly edition of Tubby or Not to Be.
- 0:31This is our regular bonus series where we go to the free
- 0:35streaming services and see what horror secrets they have to
- 0:39offer. Quick announcement if you
- 0:42haven't listened already, I was a guest on Lex Priscilla Prices
- 0:46new podcast I guess where we just argue about things, which
- 0:51is really fun and you are familiar with if you are like
- 0:55ourselves, fans of the show pod lead them or fans of the episode
- 0:59that we did with Lex and JW Crump on Halloween Resurrection.
- 1:03I'm a fan of that episode. Yeah, it's a fun time.
- 1:05Absolutely. So go check that out.
- 1:08I know we definitely linked it in last week's episode show
- 1:11notes. We'll probably link them in the
- 1:12upcoming week's show notes. Yeah.
- 1:15It was a lot of fun. Definitely go check it out.
- 1:17Check out the whole podcast. The whole show is a real fun
- 1:19time. Yeah, it was a good time.
- 1:20I wasn't on it. It was just Jesse, but
- 1:23experienced it secondhand. Like most of the listeners, I
- 1:25had fun. Yeah, you've enjoyed all the
- 1:27clips and. Everything.
- 1:28Yeah, exactly. Yeah, it seems like it was a
- 1:30good one. All right, with that, we will
- 1:33move on to our show. Yeah, OK.
- 1:35It's it's Jesse's month to pick. We take turns.
- 1:38Yeah, and it's Jesse's time. So what'd you pick for us this
- 1:40November? I picked it to be original.
- 1:43OK. And it's called glamping, Yeah.
- 1:46Which is keeping in our theme of like travel during the holiday
- 1:50season. Yeah, you know, you're right.
- 1:51I didn't even consider that. Yeah, you were just so bummed
- 1:53out I didn't pick another 2000s movie.
- 1:55Well, we are. Started.
- 1:56It was an accidental theme. It was.
- 1:59Was intentional. Yeah, you're right.
- 2:00You're right. You're right, it could have made
- 2:03both work, but it's OK. Yeah, well, I had one.
- 2:06I was stuck between new travel or 2000s and this is the one
- 2:13that spoke to my heart the most. The heart wants one.
- 2:15It wants exactly. Can't ignore it, OK.
- 2:19So Glamping released like a week and a half ago.
- 2:23Oh, it's that new? Yes, October 24th, 2025 this
- 2:27year we watched it on Tubi. Obviously it's a Tubi original.
- 2:31This episode says Tubi are not to be in the title.
- 2:34Don't be confused, just don't. Written by Alexa Garster,
- 2:40directed by Nikki Koss, music by Michelle Richards and special
- 2:44effects makeup by Sheila Bond. Starring Rosemaria DC as Olivia
- 2:49Tate, Joseph Purcell is Gabe Geffen, Aviva as Sid and Chris,
- 2:53and Jealous as John Travis. It's time for our favorite game.
- 2:58Budget or budget? Do you actually have a number?
- 3:03You know I fucking don't. OK, two, we don't do that.
- 3:07We don't play that Game 2. We don't play that game.
- 3:09I would guess though if I had to take a guess, bug Ted.
- 3:12I'm gonna say so as well. I don't think most to be
- 3:16originals are gonna be budget. Which I don't.
- 3:18Think so, $10 million and I don't think they hit that.
- 3:21Yeah. So that's I don't have
- 3:23financials for it. I do have an IMDb score, OK.
- 3:26And currently it is at a 4.2 out of 10.
- 3:28OK. That's lower than I would have
- 3:31expected. Really got it.
- 3:32Yeah, OK. We'll get into it.
- 3:34I did pull three other movies from this year just so we can
- 3:38see what kind of things are going on, and I found kind of an
- 3:41undercurrent of connecting with nature.
- 3:43Connecting with nature. That's been big in 2025.
- 3:45So these are all movies that involve being out in nature for
- 3:49some reason or another. Generally another generally not
- 3:54happy. Situations.
- 3:55I think I know one of the movies that's going to be on there.
- 3:58I got to say a. Yes, just let me know if I say
- 4:00it when we get to it. OK?
- 4:01The first one, Strangers, Chapter 2.
- 4:04OK. That released September 26th,
- 4:072025. Actually I don't have a budget
- 4:09for it, but it's made 18,000,000.
- 4:12Yeah, well, I know that they funded the entire trilogy on
- 4:18like 6,000,000. So.
- 4:21Okay, but they had to do extensive reshoots for two whole
- 4:25movies, so maybe it's a little bit higher than that, but that's
- 4:28what the original thing. Was they had to keep the leads
- 4:31nails perfect the entire time that's.
- 4:33Where most of it goes. Yeah, absolutely.
- 4:35I do have an IMDb score 4.7. Yep.
- 4:40So I'm a big fan of that franchise and I struggled with
- 4:43that one. I Funny enough, I liked this one
- 4:46better than I liked the first chapter 1.
- 4:49Yeah, I guess it I I need to rewatch it.
- 4:53Maybe I will. I don't know.
- 4:55It's it's OK. All right, second movie Black
- 4:59fun too. OK.
- 5:01That released October 17th, so it's only been out a couple of
- 5:05weeks. It's got a budget of 30 million
- 5:07so far. It's made 110 million, but it's
- 5:09still in theaters. So still doing well too.
- 5:12Yeah, it's a 6.4 out of 10. I know it's kind of been
- 5:16divisive in the horror community just from everything I've read
- 5:18online, but we fall into the camp of enjoyed it more than the
- 5:21first. Yeah, Jesse and I really liked
- 5:23it. Yeah, I did not like the first
- 5:24movie, but that second one way better.
- 5:28And the third movie? Yep, companion.
- 5:30Damn, that was wrong. What was the movie that you
- 5:32thought I was gonna say? Together cuz they go camping or
- 5:36not camping, they go hiking. And that's where they go hiking,
- 5:39and they decide to go live in the woods.
- 5:41And I was so excited to say I remember when I found North.
- 5:46We will have to talk that maybe it had such an impact on us
- 5:50both. I love that.
- 5:51We're currently fused together, that's how much of an impact it
- 5:54has. Yeah, yeah, no, that, that movie
- 5:56was fantastic. It really was.
- 5:57I think I just didn't want to put it on there because like in
- 5:59my head it's just a whole separate yeah thing.
- 6:03Companion, another good one for that.
- 6:05Was that actually 2025 when that came?
- 6:07Out. In fact, it came out on January
- 6:0831st. Man, we're now in that part of
- 6:11the year where like. Early.
- 6:13That was 2020. Five.
- 6:14Yeah, yeah, it happens every single.
- 6:16Yeah, when I was pulling up the movie, it was like, wait, that
- 6:18one, that one. Yeah, that one.
- 6:20OK Companion had a budget of about 10 million, a worldwide
- 6:25gross of 36.8 million, and an IMDb score of 6.9 out of 10.
- 6:31Yeah, that's a good movie too. It is a very good movie.
- 6:35Here's the one problem that I have with to be or not to be.
- 6:38Taglines. Yeah, to be originals.
- 6:40They don't come up with taglines.
- 6:41That's dumb. You still need to sell your
- 6:43shit. Yeah, it's very upsetting.
- 6:45You look at the poster just as to be original does not a
- 6:48tagline to be like, listen, we're we're fans of you don't do
- 6:55this to us. To be fair, it could also be
- 6:58very upfront. To be fair, they are.
- 7:02Fair. It's being very upfront, like
- 7:05it's like this. Is what?
- 7:06You get it's an original of our platform.
- 7:08Yeah, take that for whatever it is.
- 7:10I don't know. Tubi seems to be doing pretty
- 7:12well. Yeah, they're branching out and
- 7:14they give it some big Movies Now, you know.
- 7:16They do. They've got, they've got
- 7:18Terrifier 3 who tried to play that on autoplay for us.
- 7:21After which, you know, four years ago, seeing a Terrifier
- 7:26movie on Tubi would have been like, yeah.
- 7:28Yeah, but now, yeah, not so much.
- 7:30Yeah. All right, so we don't really
- 7:32get a ton of fun facts, which is good because I don't know how
- 7:35much I could have found on this. So we're just gonna go ahead
- 7:37into our good, bad, ugly and absurd.
- 7:38Yay. OK, well.
- 7:40You kick it off. Do you need me to pick it?
- 7:43Explain why I picked it. I couldn't remember if we did
- 7:45that now or a waiter usually now.
- 7:47OK. Good on me for remembering that
- 7:50after trying to hand it off to you.
- 7:51OK, I picked this mostly just I think I think it's become clear
- 7:57that like influencer horror is kind of a sub genre.
- 8:01Yeah, that has come out and it's very much a sub genre I love.
- 8:06It's definitely a chassis 1. Yes, it's I, I'm pretty much a
- 8:09sucker for it. Listen, Shudder's gonna have
- 8:12influencers next month. Don't be surprised if that's a
- 8:15December. 10 is that next month? Yes.
- 8:17Wow, yes, it's premieres at festivals, but it's coming to
- 8:21shutter next month. So excited.
- 8:26So I mean, that's really the main reason I picked it.
- 8:29It seemed interesting, especially her.
- 8:31It kind of brings in a whole cancel culture online type
- 8:35thing. And I don't mean that in the,
- 8:37you know what type of way. I don't mean cancel culture and
- 8:40I mean and specifically like like.
- 8:42People being mad that they're being held accountable type of
- 8:44way. That but also like kind of the
- 8:47weird way that the Internet hive mind works because I think it's
- 8:51a little bit, and this is obviously coming from hindsight
- 8:55of having watched the movie, but the way they like got mad and
- 8:59unfollowed Olivia because brands product wasn't good.
- 9:06Yeah, as though she personally made it.
- 9:09I couldn't tell if she like sent that to her or if like because
- 9:14she never denied anything. Whenever we get into it, she's
- 9:17like, it's a misunderstanding is all she would say.
- 9:21Yeah, I, I have a lot of thoughts about that.
- 9:24But anyway, the whole movie, just the, the trailer, the
- 9:28concept, it all spoke to me. So that's why we, that's why we
- 9:30watched it, OK? That's all right.
- 9:33Well, I I accept that, OK. I mean, you don't really have a
- 9:36choice. Yeah, I'm.
- 9:37Just telling you OK all right. So I'll kick it off with the
- 9:42goods. I I did enjoy the like the
- 9:47commentary that they were doing with this here it that I mean,
- 9:51it's such a a recent thing. I think a lot of movies are
- 9:54still trying to tackle that type of thing.
- 9:56Yeah, I think we're all still kind of like learning how this
- 10:00new type of I don't even know if I want to call a career path but
- 10:05like this, I don't even know what to call it just influencer
- 10:11culture. It it's still like a thing in
- 10:13its infancy, I feel and. Listen, I'm somebody who
- 10:17consumes far too much of that media.
- 10:19Like look at me with Secret Lives of Mormon Wives, the DCC.
- 10:23Wait, is that like a, are those like influencer things?
- 10:26Is that what you think? Like people are trying to get
- 10:27them on board with that? My God mom talk will not survive
- 10:31you saying that. What I don't get that.
- 10:34But yes, they're all influencers.
- 10:36It was a whole arc in the most recent season of America's
- 10:41Sweethearts where Kelly and Judy are very much like anti their
- 10:45cheerleaders becoming influencers, which that's a
- 10:49whole other discussion in and of itself.
- 10:52And with Whitney and Jen being on Dancing with the Stars, I'm
- 10:56seeing a lot of people are talking about that stuff over
- 10:58and that there's a lot of crossover and there's a couple
- 11:02of other people on there whose job is just influencer as well.
- 11:06Yes, Zac Efron, Brother Dylan God.
- 11:10Motherfucker. I can't ever remember his name.
- 11:13He is much like Luigi is always Marios brother to me.
- 11:17I think Efron is always. Hold on, Luigi deserves the
- 11:20respect Zac Efron brother does not.
- 11:23He's just writing the fucking hotels or whatever.
- 11:27I love the reality TV shows though.
- 11:29I kind of. Am the only reason he's getting
- 11:32attention because he's his brother, but he's also an
- 11:34attractive man. That's he is.
- 11:36That is all it is to it. He also has Zac Efron's current
- 11:40jawline, which makes me wonder if he also got.
- 11:44Work done Well, yeah, he's got he's in his brother's shadow if.
- 11:48His brother was jealous of his jawline.
- 11:51He's like, oops, I fell and broke my jaw too.
- 11:53Yeah, I guess I got to do it also.
- 11:56Oh, bro. And also Alex Earl.
- 11:59I I don't know who she is, but apparently she's a very well
- 12:01known influencer. So yeah, there's, there's just,
- 12:03it's a lot, it's a lot. And I can't even fully explain
- 12:06it to you. So, and I'm probably too online
- 12:10to not be able to explain it, but here it is.
- 12:13Well I I do enjoy the the commentary that they have on it
- 12:18here and the movie genuinely did keep me guessing a few times.
- 12:22I didn't expect some of the twist and turns that we got with
- 12:25this. Yeah, let's just go ahead cuz I
- 12:28need to talk about that when I have my turn.
- 12:30So let's go ahead. This is your turn now.
- 12:32Stop. I'm handing it.
- 12:33OK. Stop listening if you're wanting
- 12:35to watch the movie before this, because we're about to do
- 12:37spoilers. Yeah.
- 12:38Yeah, that's about to happen. OK.
- 12:41Are you done pretty good? All right, all right, so
- 12:44spoilers. I loved that there was like A
- 12:47twist on A twist at the end yeah, cuz I legitimately didn't
- 12:51expect her to be in on the whole thing, but I also didn't expect
- 12:56it to be somebody intercepted your plan.
- 12:59Yeah, that surprised me. And I was about to get really
- 13:02pissed off as I was like, we haven't seen this man this whole
- 13:04movie, Why should we care? But Cyrus was mentioned right at
- 13:07the beginning. He was.
- 13:08He was mentioned. It's a very loose connection.
- 13:11It's a loose connection. I'd say it's still probably
- 13:13stronger than Pamela before. He's in the 1st, Friday the
- 13:1513th. Yeah, definitely.
- 13:17Because he at least had a name. That's the interesting thing.
- 13:20I try and like I I think about that stuff sometimes I'm like,
- 13:23well, what's the connection to this?
- 13:24And I'm like, well, we're not really doing a who done it.
- 13:26So it doesn't really matter if it's somebody connected, like
- 13:30it's a slasher. So it could be somebody just
- 13:32completely random, just like comes across these kids, you
- 13:35know? Yeah, and like, that's another
- 13:37really good thing about this influencer sub genre is that
- 13:41because these people are so online, it makes them like
- 13:47targets. Yeah, for a lot of different
- 13:49things. So I and I think we've seen
- 13:51that. Oh God, what was our least
- 13:55favorite truth or dare, Truth or Dare movie?
- 13:58The one with the weird incest, yes.
- 14:00Yeah, that one, that movie is God, close to 20 years old I
- 14:04think. And it was even like feeding off
- 14:06of the You have Internet fame. Was it?
- 14:09I don't remember. Yeah, that's the that's why the
- 14:11group was kidnapped. I mean also like other secret
- 14:15stuff, but that's how they were able to be kidnapped was because
- 14:17of. I put most of that movie in the
- 14:18back of my mind. Yeah, as you should.
- 14:21Yeah, as you should. But yeah, I I just like that
- 14:25there are so many options to play with in the sub genre of
- 14:28movie. And I really was caught off
- 14:29guard by the twist and then the twist.
- 14:32Yeah, for sure. Me too.
- 14:33All right. You got any other goods?
- 14:35I also liked how all of these characters, honestly, we don't
- 14:40see a lot of flushing out of characters in movies like this.
- 14:43And these are all very well-rounded, well formed
- 14:47characters. And I think that's really
- 14:48interesting. And I like how we're not trying
- 14:51to force them into being friends, like my friends with
- 14:54Sid, even though she's woo woo kooky.
- 14:56Just like, Oh yeah, you're my friend, this is a thing you're
- 14:59into. And that's OK.
- 15:00And like Sid getting so excited that Olivia wants to have her
- 15:05tarot done read. I don't know the right terms for
- 15:09that. I think that's right, but then
- 15:10again, I don't know either. Yeah, and like, her and Gabe are
- 15:14so completely different, but they still seem to work as a
- 15:16couple. And John, like you were confused
- 15:19because you thought John and Sid were together, but no, they're
- 15:21just all friends. They're just all friends because
- 15:23John and Gabe have been roommates and they continued
- 15:25their roommateship. So I I like that we had this
- 15:29diversity of character types and it still worked and made sense.
- 15:33OK, Yeah. All right, bad.
- 15:36Bad stuff. I it, it felt like there was a
- 15:41lot of like weird things that just didn't really need to be
- 15:44going on. Go on.
- 15:46Like if we're a horror movie, you know what I mean?
- 15:47Like the first, this is a very short movie and like I'd say 2/3
- 15:53of it is not horror. That's.
- 15:55It's just kind of like friendship drama shit.
- 15:57And like, you know, it's like the whole rise and fall of being
- 16:00an influencer, that thing. And like it takes a long time to
- 16:05start introducing horror elements.
- 16:07Like they try and sprinkle it in a little bit with like the dolls
- 16:09and stuff, but I it's just too little for that right there.
- 16:13But like, also, there's just, I mean, like, we're just getting
- 16:16all these weird dramatic moments between them.
- 16:18And like, like, the whole thing with, like, in the hot tub,
- 16:21like, we were both so thrown off whenever John was like, so do
- 16:25you want to make Gabe jealous? Let's make out.
- 16:27And I'm like, this has never been addressed at all.
- 16:29Like, what the fuck are we doing here?
- 16:30Like, I get you were setting up the thing later, but it just
- 16:33came so out of nowhere. I'm like, it was jarring to me.
- 16:38Yeah, it was just, it was weird. Yeah, the whole like, oh, it's
- 16:41so obvious you're trying to make them jealous.
- 16:44Like, yeah. Like, give us some hints like
- 16:47little bread crumbs of like maybe her being like, because
- 16:52that would have been interesting to like, we think that she is in
- 16:55the gate the entire time, but then when it's revealed that
- 16:58she's into Olivia instead, it's like, well, OK, now that's a
- 17:01good twist too. Yes.
- 17:03And I wish that we had seen something more, because really
- 17:06what it comes across with Sid is that maybe she read something in
- 17:10the tarot, she didn't want to tell Olivia what it is.
- 17:12And I was thinking, oh, like later she's going to say
- 17:15something about being in danger or something like that.
- 17:17It never came up. Yeah, it never came back up.
- 17:19And I wish that we'd had that moment where that thing is
- 17:22significant in the way they wanted us to think it was
- 17:24significant and some way we could know that way it could tie
- 17:27back thematically. Yeah, that, that wasn't always
- 17:29thread, that just never made it. Yeah, yeah, that, that's most of
- 17:33the stuff for me. OK I'm also going to add to that
- 17:38and I don't like to really shit on actors too much but I just.
- 17:44Gabe's actor was so mumbly. Oh my God, he was one note the
- 17:48entire time. He.
- 17:48Was so mumbly and it was. There are people like that out
- 17:54there, which I guess is fine, but like when we're watching a
- 17:57movie it it's just like man. It's one that I'm glad we were
- 18:01at home and had captions on for. Yeah.
- 18:05It, it was, it was a little rough, all right.
- 18:08Ugly. Well, once again, the influencer
- 18:13culture, yeah, it's just they shine a light on all the bad
- 18:18parts of it here. I like that they did that, but
- 18:21also Olivia's shitty boss that's just like taking advantage of
- 18:25her and just like dangling this care, like I'm going to give you
- 18:28this promotion or I've got this connection with this person here
- 18:31that I'm going to like advance your career.
- 18:33And it's really just to like string her along to be working
- 18:37for her and keep her down like suppressed.
- 18:39And it's just like, man, I hated that character.
- 18:42I wish that there was something that happened to her.
- 18:45Like I it would have been nice if like seen something happen to
- 18:48the boss, you know? Honestly, and maybe it's just
- 18:52because it's the start of the season, but I was getting
- 18:54Christmas kiss vibes, yeah, and I wanted her to have a
- 18:58comeuppance like that Lady did. Yeah, it would have been nice.
- 19:01Yeah, I think there's also, there's another layer of it too
- 19:06with Olivia being a woman of color that adds a whole lot of
- 19:10extra like social commentary to it, especially when we look at
- 19:15she's had this successful like influencing Uprise, right?
- 19:18She tries this toner. She said it smells bad and makes
- 19:22her skin tingle, but her pores are tight like she is used the
- 19:26product. She's fine with it.
- 19:28Daisy tries it whether she was sent it by somebody or if she
- 19:31just used it off the recommendation.
- 19:33Either way she had a bad reaction to it.
- 19:36Daisy or Olivia didn't make the product, she just said it worked
- 19:40for her. But again, she never denied the
- 19:42fact that she didn't do that. She was just always saying it's
- 19:45a misunderstanding. What was the misunderstanding?
- 19:48I don't know if that was just bad writing to like make me.
- 19:51It made me question everything. And I don't know if that's what
- 19:54they were trying to do, like if they were trying to clear her or
- 19:56make it obvious that it wasn't her.
- 19:59But the way that they like everything unfolded.
- 20:02I'm still not sure. Maybe because we see like her
- 20:06moral. It's just completely erode
- 20:07whenever she becomes it's famous or whatever.
- 20:11Yeah. And I just maybe she's wanting
- 20:14to eliminate the competition, you know?
- 20:16Yeah, but we we didn't get that. So really what it ends up being
- 20:20is that this new influencer, this young woman of color is
- 20:24being pitted as the scapegoat. So it's frustrating.
- 20:29And it's also not like untrue to life because unfortunately, like
- 20:35it's a lot easier for the tides to turn on minorities.
- 20:38Yeah. So just because they're in fact.
- 20:42And I I'm trying to, I'm trying to word it the way that I am
- 20:46thinking of it in my. No, I I know it's not.
- 20:48The way I want it to. You're making No, I think it's
- 20:50coming across OK. The moral of the story is don't
- 20:52shout out any products because you you will be held accountable
- 20:56apparently. Yeah, but especially if.
- 20:58You're a minority. No, like it's a it's a thing.
- 21:01Like if you felt if you are in any kind of a minority class,
- 21:06gender, sexuality, ethnicity, anything like that, you have to
- 21:10work twice as hard to get half the acclaim.
- 21:13Yeah, it's just one of those things.
- 21:15So as frustrating and unfortunate as it is that she is
- 21:20blamed for this product causing a reaction in Daisy, it's not
- 21:25necessarily her fault, but that's how it's treated in the
- 21:27public eye. Yeah, I get you all.
- 21:30Right. Absurd.
- 21:32I thought it was. I mean, it kind of makes sense
- 21:35after everything about how bad they were at figuring out that
- 21:38shit was happening in their cabin.
- 21:40Like there's all of these like thuds and shit breaking and
- 21:44people going through suitcases and stuff like that.
- 21:46And they're like, Hon, that's weird.
- 21:48You know, like nobody ever stops to think or even asking, did you
- 21:52do this? And I mean, they kind of do
- 21:55that, but nobody like takes anything at face value.
- 21:57Everybody's like, huh, that's weird.
- 21:59I guess somebody did this in this house, you know, like I
- 22:02just, it was like you're being way too stupid.
- 22:06Yeah. It was like, come on, like
- 22:09realistically you would be more suspicious, like you would be a
- 22:13little bit more concerned. Also I just I thought it was
- 22:19like funny that John was the master of chaos like Dave
- 22:25Navarro on Ink Master. You were going to say that?
- 22:27Yeah, like this motherfucker, every opportunity he had, he was
- 22:32like, oh, by the way, like he's like going to like shit stir.
- 22:35Yeah, you drop. Some bomb and walks out of the
- 22:38room. That bitch loves to be messy.
- 22:42So fucking common, like every interaction.
- 22:44He's just like, going to leave you like devastated with this
- 22:47little nugget of information that he has.
- 22:49Honestly, he should have been the influencer.
- 22:51He should have, yeah. He he would have been way better
- 22:53suited for it. My absurd I guess is the little
- 23:00the little binder dossier type thing that the worst scare
- 23:04worker. Oh yeah.
- 23:06And it was like, oh, pick your spooky motif.
- 23:10And he had like a page on crystals.
- 23:14And so he just made a bunch of crystals, and I just thought
- 23:19that was really, really funny and a really nice touch.
- 23:21Yeah, I, I, I agree. Yeah, I thought it was really
- 23:25funny too. All right, so with that, how are
- 23:28you rating this out of 10? Overall, I was, I was pretty
- 23:34pleased with it. I think I'd give it like a six.
- 23:36OK. I think I'd give it a seven.
- 23:38I think it was. It's not like the best done of
- 23:43this type of sub genre we've seen, but it had a fun twist at
- 23:46the end. I liked the characters.
- 23:50Yeah, the characters were interesting, yeah, but I just
- 23:53like that horror. Like even like when we got the
- 23:56killing, it was lackluster. Yeah, you know what I mean?
- 23:59Like it would just. So many things were off screen.
- 24:01Yeah, yeah. And I would have liked to
- 24:03tighten up some of those loose ends in the script, but overall,
- 24:06like I think 7 works. So we've got a starting average
- 24:09of 6.5. All right, solid all.
- 24:11Right, all right. Well then, let's do this.
- 24:14We start off at the end of the movie, Yeah.
- 24:18I was confused at first. I thought that this was a
- 24:19completely different set of people.
- 24:22Yeah, we're at a cabin. We hear screaming, we see a
- 24:24woman with a gun who then steps into a bear trap.
- 24:27And then you're probably wondering how I got here.
- 24:31Freeze frame. So Olivia is at work.
- 24:34She is helping this snobby skinny woman, Daisy, who's like
- 24:39everybody is just all about like, big curves right now.
- 24:41But I can't help it that I'm naturally predisposed to heroin
- 24:44chic. Yeah like OMG thigh gaps are
- 24:47out. Like shut the fuck up.
- 24:50OK, Daisy, she's trying to find a dress and she's like, this is
- 24:54a personal shopper type of situation.
- 24:56So she's got this dress on and she's like, well, Cyrus, Is it
- 25:00Cyrus or Cypress? Cyrus OK.
- 25:03OK, yeah, Cyrus, he, he doesn't like, he needs her to look a
- 25:09certain way. And he's like, very critical of
- 25:10her. And she's very concerned about
- 25:12it. And Olivia's like, listen, I
- 25:14just think that you should surround yourself with people
- 25:15that lift you up. And then her boss, Melissa's
- 25:18like, don't say shit like that to the clients.
- 25:20You're, you're yeah, you're not friends with her.
- 25:22You are shopping for. Her you are not allowed to have
- 25:25any conversation. Yeah, And she was like,
- 25:27shouldn't I get to know them then?
- 25:30So it's and Melissa's basically like, no.
- 25:34So as they're closing the shop for the day and she says, I know
- 25:39you're getting ready to move on to your next job as the wardrobe
- 25:43head for Glass Productions something.
- 25:46Like that, that's the, I think that's the production company
- 25:48for this movie, by the way. I think I remember seeing that
- 25:50in the opening. Credits.
- 25:51You know what? I respect that.
- 25:52Yeah. And I wanted to us to revisit
- 25:56that conversation that we had when I started here four years
- 25:58ago about me becoming store manager.
- 26:00And she's like, no, I'm going with an outside hire.
- 26:03And really it's a like Quid Pro Co type of.
- 26:06Yeah, she's like, I got like a favorite to fill for this
- 26:09person. And it's just like, come on,
- 26:10that's some bullshit right there.
- 26:12And then she's like, well, could you at least give me a Zendaya's
- 26:14stylist number? Cuz you said you would do that.
- 26:16She goes, Did I say? That I her response is, oh, that
- 26:21was nice of me. And then she just doesn't even
- 26:23do anything like fuck you. Oh my God.
- 26:27So Olivia is really frustrated and does the thing that you
- 26:31should never do when you're frustrated, which is go live on
- 26:33the Internet and complain about your job.
- 26:36And she is just kind of venting. And then people in the comments
- 26:39are like, Oh my God, you're so pretty.
- 26:42And she's like, well, I'll shout out VXV makeup.
- 26:45This is bullshit right here. Right?
- 26:46Because like if you're doing live I don't think random people
- 26:50get sent to you. I think it's mostly just your
- 26:52followers right? But it just explodes to like
- 26:5410,000 people watching her complain.
- 26:56About yeah, so on Instagram, like we'll get notifications if
- 27:01somebody's live, but that's like a person that we're following.
- 27:03Yeah, I don't know how to go look for lives.
- 27:07I don't even know if that's a thing.
- 27:09It might be, I don't know. Yeah, like, I don't know if you
- 27:11can go like hop onto a live. I don't know how that works.
- 27:15Like if you have to go to a certain tablet.
- 27:18We're old. We are.
- 27:20We're bad at this stuff, so it's fine.
- 27:24But yeah, so she just, you know, gets a little bit of traction
- 27:27with that. She ends up going to John's
- 27:31party with Gabe and Sid. Gabe goes on and on and on about
- 27:35anti consumerism. He.
- 27:38This is a Trump that I'm noticing here lately where like,
- 27:41it's always the boyfriend that's like super progressive and
- 27:44that's all he talks about is just like, you know, progressive
- 27:47stuff. But then he ends up being a
- 27:48hypocrite at the. He's not even really, well, he
- 27:51is a hypocrite. And I like they call him out
- 27:53about it, but like, it's just like, yeah, it's a lot.
- 27:58Yeah, so she, you know, she's just saying that she had a
- 28:03really bad day, and he hypes her up and it's kind of cute because
- 28:06he's just like, listen, you're the best and everybody knows
- 28:09you're the best. And someday, everybody else in
- 28:12the world will see that you're the best.
- 28:13Yeah. And then they arrive outside and
- 28:16they're just like about, they start making out at the doorway.
- 28:19Yeah. And then John opens the door and
- 28:20he's like, hey, were you guys going to come in here?
- 28:23You going to make out my doorway?
- 28:25So I'm confused about the situation because the house
- 28:29seems just like a general house where like you would rent A room
- 28:33from but Gabe and John are roommates.
- 28:37But are they roommates in this building?
- 28:39As in Gabe has a separate room. Also.
- 28:44Why is the party happening just in John's room and not in the
- 28:47house in general? So they were inside the
- 28:50building, right? They went inside a building and
- 28:52then a room within the building. Yeah, but the building seemed
- 28:54like a house. Yeah, because.
- 28:56They're hanging out in it later. And the thing that's also
- 28:58actually confusing to me is like, it was supposed to be a
- 29:00frat party. That's what they were saying.
- 29:02Like, I don't want to shoot, like, whenever Olivia's like, I
- 29:05don't think I'm going to go to the party later.
- 29:07Like her friend. I think Sid was like, please, I
- 29:09don't want to go there with the frat Bros by myself, you know,
- 29:12like, yeah. So I it it's weird.
- 29:15Yeah. It doesn't make any sense.
- 29:16I don't fully understand this setup, but that's, you know,
- 29:20probably, it's probably a feature of it being a low budget
- 29:23film. Like this is the location they
- 29:25had to film in. Yeah, yeah.
- 29:27So Sid offers to Hex Olivia's boss.
- 29:32She was like, normally I don't hex faces, but I'll hex her face
- 29:34if you want me to. And then she does a tarot
- 29:37reading for Olivia and she gets the tower.
- 29:40I don't know enough about tarot to know why Sydney is so freaked
- 29:43out about it, but she's just like, I'm.
- 29:45I've probably just worn out my reading today.
- 29:48She's visibly. Freaked out.
- 29:51Yeah, yeah. And I don't know what's
- 29:53happening. Yeah, it would have been nice to
- 29:55get some clarification on what all this meant.
- 29:57So the next morning Olivia wakes up and she has a message from
- 30:00VXV about sending her some stuff and her becoming a brand Rep.
- 30:05And then we see a whole montage of her just becoming a semi
- 30:10successful influencer. She's getting a lot of different
- 30:14products sent to her. She's posting different videos.
- 30:17I like her showing the stuff like the outtakes type of things
- 30:21where her phone is falling, she can't get a good angle on it,
- 30:24and she's like out of breath trying to talk about her morning
- 30:26jogging routine. Yeah, those are nice touches.
- 30:29She's worked her way up to 90,000 followers.
- 30:32It's just, it's not a small number.
- 30:33It's respectable. Yeah, yeah.
- 30:35And then she wakes up to a message offering or being
- 30:40offered a job to work at A at Glass Studios.
- 30:43Yeah, she's the message is from Melissa.
- 30:45Melissa is offering her to be the wardrobe assistant.
- 30:48The boss. Yes, yes, fucker.
- 30:52Which is what makes it worse later.
- 30:54Yeah, okay, okay. Her mom comes to meet her.
- 30:57Her mom is apparently like a pop psychologist and she represents
- 31:02an online therapy app. Questionable.
- 31:06There seems to be a strange relationship here.
- 31:08Yeah, And she's like, I just don't think you should be an
- 31:10influencer. And she's like, well, of course
- 31:12you don't even follow me. She goes, I don't follow anyone.
- 31:15I'm a conduit for the brand. She goes, well, what about me
- 31:19being a wardrobe assistant? She goes, well, that's basically
- 31:21your job now, just not a supportive mother.
- 31:24But I mean, I get what she's saying, but like moving to a
- 31:27different place where you have places to grow is completely
- 31:30different than being where she's at right now, where she's.
- 31:33Being right now personal shopper, I mean, that's a whole
- 31:36fucking storyline in Friends is that Rachel wants to get out of
- 31:39the personal shopping. It's a step down for her.
- 31:41Yeah, yeah, yeah. Her mom seems kind of not like a
- 31:45good person. Yeah, or at least not a good
- 31:48mom. Yeah, yeah.
- 31:50So her friends are also a little bit concerned about the ethics
- 31:53of influencing cuz they say something about like oh, horse
- 31:56placenta in that toner you're using.
- 31:58Yeah, Gabe, he's, he's super into that stuff right there.
- 32:01And he like, he calls her out on it.
- 32:03But then like John, he's like, Oh yeah, man, like influencers
- 32:07are super fucked up. Like, did you see?
- 32:10He brings up like some kind of weird case, like something
- 32:12happening. I can't really remember what it
- 32:13is. But then he like calls out gave
- 32:16about him. He's like, so do you like
- 32:18actually support this? And he's like, I mean, yeah,
- 32:21ultimately, you know, like they have a way to like bring
- 32:24awareness and social causes and stuff like that.
- 32:26And ultimately it's a good thing, despite we're seeing
- 32:30Olivia kind of being negatively influenced by the whole power I
- 32:34think that she's getting now. It's definitely going to her
- 32:37head. He's thinking about what she can
- 32:39do good with her following and she's just excited to have
- 32:43followers despite. Her marketing a thing that he is
- 32:46completely against. Yeah, he's having to be the
- 32:48supportive boyfriend right now. He's not really.
- 32:50He's not going to speak his mind.
- 32:51Because I think if it were somebody completely unrelated,
- 32:54Oh yeah, fuck that person. They're promoting like terrible
- 32:56shit right now. It would have been, like,
- 32:59interesting to see him talk about other influence, like,
- 33:01even Daisy, Like, he was just, like, didn't say much about her.
- 33:05It would have been interesting for him to be like, well, that's
- 33:07not even a real career. And all she does is just like,
- 33:09post cute outfits. Yeah.
- 33:11Like, it would have been nice to have that diametrically opposed
- 33:15type of situation. Speaking of Daisy, she tags
- 33:21Olivia in a live that she's doing, saying that she's trying
- 33:24this product from some skin care line, and she has an immediate,
- 33:30really awful reaction live on air.
- 33:33This is not a thing, right? Like you can't have this sort of
- 33:36severe reaction where your face melts.
- 33:39I, I have a lot of allergies, so I have to be really careful with
- 33:44the perfumes. I use skin care, I use things
- 33:46like that. And I joked a few years ago that
- 33:50my little sister was out to get me because she'd given me like a
- 33:53bunch of like face masks and like those, like the pore strips
- 33:56and stuff like, just like a little care package as a
- 33:58Christmas gift. And I was using them and I tried
- 34:01the pore strips and I had a terrible allergic reaction to
- 34:05it. I had just like you could see
- 34:06perfectly where the strip was. It was just raised in red and
- 34:09weeping and it was gross and terrible.
- 34:12And I joked that my little sister was out to get me, but
- 34:15ultimately it was on me for not checking the ingredients and
- 34:18making sure it wasn't something I was allergic.
- 34:19To Thankfully you're not an influencer.
- 34:21You could have gotten your sister killed.
- 34:23Right, so I. I think that there was something
- 34:26in there like something definitely like this was not a
- 34:29normal reaction. Yes, if this movie is trying to
- 34:32make us think that like it was a negative reaction that caused
- 34:34this. But I think I am still on the
- 34:37side that I think it was just the product is a bad product
- 34:39because that's what they were talking about beforehand is that
- 34:41all of these companies that use these influencers, they are not
- 34:45always necessarily on the up and up.
- 34:48Yeah, they're not always good either.
- 34:50Like, yeah. They're not necessarily all
- 34:52regulated. Research the shit that you're
- 34:54gonna be doing, you know what I mean?
- 34:55And I think that's really what it comes down to.
- 34:58And just because somebody that you follow or that you like
- 35:01says, I use this, I love it, you still need to do the research
- 35:04for yourself because just because something works for
- 35:06somebody else doesn't mean that it's gonna necessarily work for
- 35:08you. And especially when you look at
- 35:11influencers like that who are getting sent these packages,
- 35:14they are able to try like no normal human should be trying
- 35:18this many different things in this span of time because that's
- 35:21a lot of overconsumption and waste.
- 35:24You have to figure out the things that work for you.
- 35:27And sometimes, yeah, maybe you've heard of it because
- 35:29somebody that you follow on Instagram or Tic Tac, Tic Tac
- 35:33TikTok really likes this product and you wanna check it out.
- 35:37But you should still do that research for yourself.
- 35:39So I think it's, I think my take on the movie is that's the
- 35:44message they're trying to send with it.
- 35:45It just is so hurried over in favor of Olivia becoming a
- 35:51murderer that we don't really get to sit on that.
- 35:54Yeah, and man, the tides change quick here because everybody's
- 35:58like, oh, about that. We're going to have to pass with
- 36:01the deal that we had. With you and.
- 36:03Her whole career is coming to an end.
- 36:05I want to know what kind of contract she signed because you
- 36:07have to sign contracts when you get those types of packages too.
- 36:11Do you not remember when we were running ads for Manscaped?
- 36:16We did, didn't we? Yeah.
- 36:17No, the fact that we did that, but we did have to sign
- 36:19something. Yeah, like we had design stuff
- 36:20for it and. That was one that we did
- 36:23research, by the way. Yeah.
- 36:24Are we allowed to say that on the air?
- 36:26We're not still sponsored by them.
- 36:28We're not sponsoring it now. OK, Yeah, that's true.
- 36:30We were at. One point, yeah, yeah.
- 36:32But it's it's, I mean, you typically have those types of
- 36:35things. So I wonder what the terms were
- 36:37in the contracts? Yeah, I don't know.
- 36:39I never read that shit. Do research.
- 36:45OK, Gabe. Anyway, they they had also been.
- 36:54Oh, there is a really great moment because Melissa says,
- 36:57hey, I'm going to have to revoke that job.
- 36:59And Olivia tells her off and it's really cathartic.
- 37:03Oh man, yeah, I I wish that she went harder actually, because
- 37:06the boss is like you don't have to get on mad No fuck go back
- 37:10and like tear into her more make her.
- 37:11Cry. Please, I wanted that person to
- 37:14have some kind of like repercussions for being such an
- 37:17asshole. I want her to be in Christmas
- 37:19Kiss 4 where she loses her wardrobe, sailing job and learns
- 37:23the true spirit of the season. Make it happen.
- 37:27Because Olivia falls in love. It's happening.
- 37:30We're pitching it. Yes, they make a lot of this.
- 37:32Here in Kentucky, that's not homework.
- 37:34That's Vista. No Mar Vista.
- 37:39Mar Vista, yeah. Mar Vista, hit us up.
- 37:42I know you all film shit down here in.
- 37:43Kentucky, we got it. We got you.
- 37:44Yeah. OK, so Olivia, Gabe, John and
- 37:49Sydney, we're all planning their like post grad trip, but
- 37:52Olivia's like listen I need something now.
- 37:55I need something this weekend. Can we please go glamping you?
- 37:58Know what's funny? Like there's a common just it's
- 38:00only two movies. It's a coincidence, but
- 38:02apparently influencers love Joshua Tree because Ingrid goes
- 38:06West. There's like a whole plot point
- 38:08related to that. It's not Olivia that likes
- 38:10Joshua Tree that was gave that likes Joshua Tree.
- 38:13Yeah, but I'm just saying, just like it keeps getting brought up
- 38:16in these movies. Also I thought glamping was more
- 38:19like you get the fancy yurt so you're still technically
- 38:23camping. Yeah, glamping is not going to a
- 38:25cabin. Yeah, glamping is like you go
- 38:27to, you get a fucking RV and you go out into the field and sleep
- 38:32in that or like a nice ass tent. Yes, you've got really nice
- 38:36amenities, but you're still technically sleeping outside.
- 38:39Yeah, So whatever. You know what?
- 38:43I can't say Whatever. That's the whole name of the
- 38:45fucking movie. This, this movie, it's a
- 38:47misnomer. It's all completely wrong.
- 38:49Yeah. You're you're actually incorrect
- 38:50here. I need.
- 38:52I need to go back in time. You're probably wondering how I
- 38:54got here. Just like adding that to my list
- 38:57of bad you're the. Movie you're like Lou from hot
- 39:00time hot tub time machine too, where he like comes out at the
- 39:03end like with the fucking Revolutionary War outfit like.
- 39:06Yeah, he's like, no, that, that that Lou sucked.
- 39:07Yeah, no, that that name sucks. Like, yeah.
- 39:11Yeah, OK. But yeah, so they they get out
- 39:14there and as they're driving, they come across like a little
- 39:17blur witch doll type of thing. And Sid freaks out.
- 39:20She's like, listen, sometimes these are out here for
- 39:22protection, but sometimes it's the opposite.
- 39:24And I was like, stop it, Sid. Yeah, she is.
- 39:29I I get it. She's being a little bit of a
- 39:32buzz kill for sure, but also like her friends should at least
- 39:38understand that that's who she is as a person and maybe have a
- 39:44more measured reaction to her. Yeah, I think they handle a
- 39:47little bit better at the cabin. Yeah, so they get there and
- 39:53Sydney says the vibes are off, but everybody else says it's
- 39:55great. Olivia says that is like one of
- 39:58the top rated cabins. I.
- 39:59Just thought that was funny. As soon as they walk in vibes
- 40:02are off like oh boy. We'll see.
- 40:06Sidney is saging. She's sage in the room, she's
- 40:08Sage in the house. She goes downstairs.
- 40:10There's a rat in the rat trap. So she's pretty upset about it.
- 40:13And John's like, you know what, We should just do some shots.
- 40:17Right, that's it right there. Yeah, yeah, like, hey, master
- 40:19chaos. Yeah, master chaos.
- 40:21Like, let's do shots that'll either calm us down or we'll
- 40:24really get to fighting. And for a minute it doesn't
- 40:29either because there's another doll in the cabinet, which, yes,
- 40:31this is the right moment to be freaked out.
- 40:33I think everybody needs to be a little bit closer to SIDS level.
- 40:36And no, I, I agree with the rest of them there.
- 40:39Like maybe people were fucking with them, you know, like we've
- 40:41been to some places where people do some weird shit.
- 40:44You know what I mean? Like I if I I had a cabin that I
- 40:48would rent to people, I think that I would also do something
- 40:50like this. Like, let's make them like
- 40:51sweat. We have talked about leaving our
- 40:53basket of single child shoes in the shed whenever we eventually
- 40:57sell this house. It's like, I mean, and we'll
- 40:59maybe pass down the clown pictures that we found here too.
- 41:02Like maybe that's what everybody just needs when they come to
- 41:04this place. You need shoes and clown
- 41:05paintings. Well, they reason with Sid and
- 41:10they're like, hey, we're gonna go with more reason here and
- 41:13think about. That it's necessarily reason so
- 41:15much as it is the bribery of tequila.
- 41:17That too. But Gabe, he's like, well, this
- 41:20is the logical response right here.
- 41:22It's probably somebody just fucking with this.
- 41:24So Olivia puts on a bikini that she'd gotten from a brand when
- 41:29she was still Do they still want her to sponsor them or shout
- 41:32them out? I don't know.
- 41:33But she asked or she asked Sydney to take pictures of her
- 41:36and she's like, hey, does this seem kind of tone deaf?
- 41:41I really appreciate her doing this right here and.
- 41:44And she did it in the way that a friend does it.
- 41:47Like she was like, hey, I just I'm concerned for you.
- 41:51I'm concerned what, like that this might make things worse.
- 41:54I'm concerned that it maybe doesn't make you look like such
- 41:57a good person. And then when Olivia basically
- 41:59is like crying and she's like, I don't know what else to do.
- 42:01I am grasping at straws here. And thence it's like OK.
- 42:05At first I was with Olivia because she was like, I don't
- 42:07know what else to do. Like, OK, yeah, live your life.
- 42:10Go ahead. Like you're doing the shit that
- 42:11makes you happy. You don't have to quit social
- 42:13media if you don't want to. But then she's like, bikini pics
- 42:16are the only way to grab people's attention.
- 42:18And I'm like, oh, so you're just doing this to get engagement?
- 42:21There's nothing genuine about this.
- 42:23You're just trying to like attention get basically.
- 42:27She's not wrong, though. She's not wrong.
- 42:29No, she isn't. But it's just it takes the punch
- 42:32out of them, like, oh, OK, so you're just like, yeah, you've
- 42:34not learned anything. She did have like a really a
- 42:36great like, mini monologue before that where she's, you
- 42:40know, Sid's concerned, not only that it's tone deaf, but also
- 42:42that she's losing herself. And she's like, no, this is just
- 42:45a part of myself, but it's a character I'm playing up for for
- 42:49Instagram and TikTok, Tic Tac. If we ever do a movie and we
- 42:53can't Tic Tac. Yeah, Like Tic Tac is our fake
- 42:56streaming site. Streaming app.
- 42:58Nobody steal that from me. Beep it, it's on.
- 43:04Edit Goddamn. It Yeah, man, OK.
- 43:07Anyway, so they're taking the pictures and John is like kind
- 43:11of pushing Gabe. He's like, are you jealous that
- 43:13everybody thinks your girlfriends hot and he's no, she
- 43:15is hot. I'm not a jealous type.
- 43:17Anyway. I'm not a jealous type.
- 43:19Anyway, I got to mumble more to be more like Gabe.
- 43:23I'm not that type of jealous. That's how he talks the entire
- 43:27movie. Liv gets a call from an unknown
- 43:29number and basically nobody's answering, and then we see
- 43:33somebody stalking in the woods so they're in a blow up hot tub.
- 43:39Was it a blow up hot tub? Wow, good eyes.
- 43:42Yes. I mean, I was, I was paying
- 43:43attention. I just expect hot tubs at cabins
- 43:45to be genuine like real like normal ones.
- 43:48They probably rented this cabin for shooting and realized it
- 43:52didn't have the hot tub so they went and got the blow up hot tub
- 43:55from Walmart. It's probably.
- 43:56More expensive than like renting the actual.
- 43:58Cab yeah, absolutely. Yeah.
- 44:01So they're playing truth or dare cuz what could go wrong with
- 44:05that? In a hot tub with alcohol.
- 44:08Yeah. Shout out to our friend Tyler
- 44:11who is like dead terrified. Saved us.
- 44:15Saved us because he was like one time somebody almost drowned in
- 44:18a hot tub. Also, we've been in here for 2
- 44:211/2 hours and we all went Oh no. It actually became a hot tub
- 44:25time actually. Was.
- 44:27Yeah, that was really fun. Like he had every right to be
- 44:31like concerned about it. He's.
- 44:34Like, I got to get out of here. I'm figuring myself out and he
- 44:37goes like he's like. It's 4:00 AM Four.
- 44:45AM Yeah. Anyway, so that was a lot more
- 44:47fun than what we're about to talk about.
- 44:48They're hot tub time hijinks. God damn it.
- 44:52We watched Hot Tub Time Machine after this.
- 44:54Last night it's. Not helping.
- 44:57OK, so yeah, First off, it's truth for Olivia.
- 45:00John asks her to talk about her losing her virginity.
- 45:03Like describe that experience because.
- 45:06Apparently Sid has never heard the story and I guess Gabe has
- 45:09heard the story, but maybe she lied about it because she says
- 45:12it was a film Bro who likes Fight Club too much.
- 45:14Which totally tracks for John. Yeah.
- 45:17But he's like, oh, I thought you said it was somebody in finance.
- 45:19She goes no film. Definitely film starts.
- 45:21With an F, yeah. Yeah.
- 45:23And then Olivia dares John to go make out with a tree, which is
- 45:29the less fun version of go make out with a moose.
- 45:31Marty, that's a wolf. And Olivia's like, recording it
- 45:35and gave us like, I thought the whole point of this was to
- 45:37unplug. And she's like, well, I'm still
- 45:39doing, like, a vlog of the glamping.
- 45:42And when John comes back in, he's master of chaos once again
- 45:45because he's like, oh, they're kind of fighting with each
- 45:47other. Let's make this extra.
- 45:49This is truly one of the most diabolical moments I've ever
- 45:53seen in a horror film. I think, like, we could probably
- 45:55do a whole separate podcast about John the chaos gremlin.
- 45:59Yeah. Because he goes, I dare you to
- 46:02call Olivia's mom and ask for permission to marry her.
- 46:06This is a short horror film, right?
- 46:08Yes. And I, I like this right here
- 46:12because like, they are so off put by it and then they're like,
- 46:15well, Olivia's like I, I wanted them to actually meet in person.
- 46:19And you guys have been dating for three years and he has not
- 46:22Met Your Mother? Correct reaction that like the
- 46:25way him and Sid were immediately like what the fuck?
- 46:27It's weird. Yeah.
- 46:29Like what? Like why do they think that she
- 46:32wouldn't approve of her boyfriend?
- 46:34I they never touch on that. It never appears of anything.
- 46:37Yeah, I know. But I just, it was weird that it
- 46:41became such a good focus here, you know what I mean?
- 46:43But he starts to call her. Yeah, he.
- 46:46Starts to call her, but then there's a crash from inside.
- 46:49So they end the call and Gabe and Olivia say they're gonna go
- 46:53check it out. And they get in there and their
- 46:56ceramic shattered on the floor and Olivia's like texting her
- 46:59mom back because her mom texts her.
- 47:01She's like, I'm at work, I'm very busy, Is it important?
- 47:04This at this hour. And Gabe's like, can you just
- 47:08get off your phone? And all he's doing is sweeping
- 47:10up the ceramic and not at all concerned that there's a broken
- 47:12vase in the middle of the living room.
- 47:15Yeah. And then they start looking
- 47:17around. They find one of the bedrooms
- 47:19has a window open and she's like, so that's probably what
- 47:21happened. He is.
- 47:21The wind came all the way down to the first floor and knocked
- 47:25that vase over. Gabe, Gabe, Gabe, I need you to
- 47:30watch a little film called Evil Dead.
- 47:33It's plausible. Is it?
- 47:35I mean this is also again like cabin in the woods where I like
- 47:37to sell our door up as like must have been a wind.
- 47:40And again, Marty's like what? But.
- 47:42That doesn't make it. Yeah, I fucking love Marty.
- 47:44We needed Marty in this movie. Yeah.
- 47:46God I would watch like a two man stage play of Marty and John.
- 47:51Yeah. Oh my God, yeah, Fantastic.
- 47:55I love that. Pair.
- 47:55That's my dream suitable for this movie.
- 47:57Love it. Let's let's make it happen.
- 48:01OK, so back in the hot tub, John is like he's he.
- 48:05Does he knock her phone in the hot tub?
- 48:08I think so, but also if you look at it really closely, you can
- 48:11see that it's just a phone case, so that way they don't destroy a
- 48:14real phone in a hot tub. Good for that, But in the movie,
- 48:18like Master of Chaos, asshole move.
- 48:21Like completely destroying somebody's phone to make a
- 48:23point. Here's.
- 48:24The thing he's such a chaos gremlin that it almost makes him
- 48:29seem suspicious if he wasn't the.
- 48:31Yeah, that's true. I think that's probably why they
- 48:34killed him off 1st. They're like, we just don't need
- 48:36you guys thinking like, no, he's just, he's just chaotic.
- 48:39Yeah, he. Yeah.
- 48:40And he's like, well, you know, I just didn't want you to be on
- 48:44your phone all the time. By the way, I.
- 48:46See you looking at Gabe. Do you want to make him jealous?
- 48:49Do you want to make out? And Jesse and I were both like,
- 48:51what? This movie just became something
- 48:53like, we just did not see this coming.
- 48:55We were so confused about what was happening.
- 48:57Yeah, also because they're making out without Olivia and
- 49:00Gabe out there to see. So how is it actually making me
- 49:02be jealous it? Was just John like he's like I
- 49:06see my opportunity to get some kiss and.
- 49:08Go back. To be fair, it.
- 49:09Worked out it did. It worked.
- 49:11Olivia and Gabe, do you have, like, this conversation where
- 49:16they're worried about, like, Olivia confesses?
- 49:18So she's worried about her mom's expectations for her, but she
- 49:21loves them. She's like, you're my person and
- 49:23he's like, you're mine. And they're so cute.
- 49:26Then they go outside and catch Sid and John making out.
- 49:29And so they're like, let's all just go inside.
- 49:31We've had enough hot tub time. And they go inside.
- 49:36Olivia finds her clothes are thrown all around, accuses Gabe
- 49:40of looking for her underwear. Yeah, she's like, if you wanted
- 49:43my underwear, you could have just asked.
- 49:45And like, again, this is like, dumb.
- 49:47He's like, I didn't do that shit.
- 49:49And also, I feel like anytime they've been in that room,
- 49:51they've been in there together. Way too casual, and also I need
- 49:54to talk about the monstrosity of all four of these motherfuckers
- 49:57putting on dry clothes over their wet swimsuits.
- 50:01Yeah. This is like you're in the cabin
- 50:04with your own clothes. You can change out of your
- 50:06swimsuits. Yeah, you don't have to.
- 50:08Keep This is not the same as the aforementioned hot tub incident
- 50:12for us, Yeah, where we did not have changes of clothes with us
- 50:15and had to put our over our wet clothes.
- 50:19It's a little absurd, it's a little silly.
- 50:22It's very frustrating. Everybody making questionable
- 50:24decisions right now. And what's even more frustrating
- 50:27is that because of the magic of film making and where everything
- 50:31is shot out of certain order, none of their dry clothes have
- 50:35any wet marks. On I was thinking the same thing
- 50:37like they like they would be Wet Wet butt for sure.
- 50:41Well anyways, Master Chaos shotgun blast downstairs, this
- 50:46fucking guy, he's like off the fucking hinges now and.
- 50:49They're like, you can't shoot a gun.
- 50:52And he's like, you know what? Fuck all of you, Olivia, you're
- 50:57so selfish. Did you know that Gabe had to
- 50:59ask for an extension for his thesis and should be working on
- 51:02that and instead he's here? Did you know that Sib was taking
- 51:05her Reiki master certification course this weekend and she
- 51:08cancelled it to be here? Did you know I just wanted to
- 51:11shoot this fucking gun and fuck all of you?
- 51:14And then Gabe punches him and gets the gun.
- 51:16Yeah, because a drunk chaos gremlin does not need to have a
- 51:19rifle. But he makes the point he's
- 51:21like, because you guys are two up your own asses and on your
- 51:24phones all the time. You guys don't pay attention to
- 51:26shit. Yep.
- 51:28He's he's mad. That's his whole thing.
- 51:30Like they were, I feel like they were definitely building for him
- 51:32to be a killer or something. You know what I mean?
- 51:34Because he's been doing all of this shit.
- 51:37It's just like, I guess it was meant to be a misdirect.
- 51:41Yeah. Because like, the lights go out
- 51:42now. Yeah, now the lights go out.
- 51:44He's like, I'm going to go find a breaker.
- 51:46He says I'm going to go find the breaker.
- 51:48By the way, sits in love with Gabe and then he walks out of
- 51:50the room. Dude, yeah, again, like little
- 51:53Nuggets. Messy bitch.
- 51:55I love John as a character. Every movie needs a John.
- 52:00It's just like he's like boop, just a little bit of just like
- 52:04I'm going to be leaving, but by the way, and then.
- 52:06Gabe tries to talk to Sid about it.
- 52:08She goes, it's not you. And then Olivia's, but they have
- 52:14like a real nice talk about it where she's just like, you know,
- 52:17you're just the only person who's accepted me as I am not
- 52:20wanting to change me. I'm really worried what's going
- 52:23to happen after school. And she's like, listen,
- 52:26friendships change because people change.
- 52:28But you'll still always be my best friend.
- 52:31I am in love with Gabe. Yeah, that maybe it's just like
- 52:36her being young, but she's like, you're the only person that will
- 52:38ever get me. And I'm like, come on man,
- 52:41you're not even giving yourself a chance here.
- 52:43And I do think it's the young thing.
- 52:45I think it's the being afraid of what life is gonna be like,
- 52:49especially if you're somebody that maybe is.
- 52:53I don't know if she's necessarily questioning her
- 52:55sexuality or if she does identify as queer.
- 52:59Like, I think there's just a lot of factors that are going into
- 53:01it. That's all to unpack here, and
- 53:03we don't really get any of it because like, John goes and
- 53:07flips on the breaker and the power's back.
- 53:11Gabe goes try to find him and John jumps out, 'cause he found
- 53:14a mask and then Gabe's like, seriously?
- 53:16Like can't you take anything serious?
- 53:19It's like, I'm glad that school's almost over because
- 53:21clearly we're not meant to be friends anymore.
- 53:23It gets a little harsh here between the buggies.
- 53:25Yeah, that's rough. Yeah, and then John's like, oh,
- 53:29by the way, I guess Olivia never told you who she lost her
- 53:33virginity to or she never told you, did she?
- 53:35And it's like, come on, you have a reason to be jealous of me.
- 53:39He's like, Oh yeah, are you going to tell me why?
- 53:41He doesn't say anything. He just lets the silence speak
- 53:43for itself. And he goes, it was before you
- 53:45guys were even together. He's like, plus also I thought
- 53:49you were like, Mr. Virginity's a social construct.
- 53:51No, that's what. What does he say?
- 53:53I feel. Like, I think they all kind of
- 53:55throw that back at him. Yeah, cuz they were.
- 53:56He was talking about that again. Like yeah, cuz like when that
- 53:58was her question in truth or dare, he was like, listen, this
- 54:01is such a bullshit outdated premise.
- 54:03Blah. Blah.
- 54:04It goes against men too. Like virginity.
- 54:06Like, if you don't lose your virginity after a certain time
- 54:09and I'm like, you get, like, hounded by people for that, too.
- 54:12Yeah. Yeah.
- 54:14But anyways, he Gabe goes, they separate.
- 54:19John stays in that room there. And as like they're both heading
- 54:23back to like go inside the cabin, a masked man who the two
- 54:29others, Olivia and Sid, saw outside.
- 54:31I mean he said fuck that, went back in and.
- 54:34That's that they're like, they're not even.
- 54:36They didn't. Warn anybody that there's a guy
- 54:37outside with a mask. Yeah.
- 54:39So the guy gets into the basement and kills John.
- 54:42Yeah. Except John's not really dead
- 54:44because Gabe is like, John is right behind me.
- 54:46I'm going to go get him. And he finds him like he's
- 54:49pushed against, like a like a tiller.
- 54:52It was I wasn't even sure it like I would have said that at
- 54:56first, but then whenever they like get him off of it, it's
- 54:59like a whole other. It looks like a dog poop
- 55:02grabber, but like with blades. I think that's a tiller.
- 55:07I don't, I don't know. I've seen killers in my life and
- 55:10they've never looked like that. OK, well I've seen dog poop
- 55:13grabbers and they don't look like that.
- 55:15OK, well, maybe, maybe, maybe it could be one of the other.
- 55:20I don't know. Either way, he's dead.
- 55:22They're like, let's pull him off of it, I and then we're going to
- 55:25carry. Him to the car and when they get
- 55:28out to the car realize that his tires have been slashed, which
- 55:30duh. Yeah, I mean, come on, man.
- 55:32What killer is just going to like, leave an easy way for you
- 55:35to get out so they go inside? Gave and Olivia choose this
- 55:39moment to fight about the concept of having a cell phone.
- 55:43It was so yeah, it's also bad. But like he's like, oh, you.
- 55:48You just want to save John because you're so in love with
- 55:50him. What?
- 55:51Like I like Sid's moment. She's like, shut the fuck up,
- 55:53he's dying. This is not the time.
- 55:56Call 911. So they try to look for Olivia's
- 55:59phone because she's not sure where it is.
- 56:01She hasn't had it since her mom was texting her John.
- 56:06Oh, they hide. They're hiding because they hear
- 56:09footsteps in the house, and Gabe goes and sneaks and grabs the
- 56:13gun. And when he goes out, when they
- 56:15go out to look for whoever it is making the footsteps, John's
- 56:17gone from the couch trail of blood to the hot tub, and he's
- 56:20just kind of, like, chilling and they're probably dead.
- 56:22Yeah. Then the killer stabs Gabe.
- 56:24He. Just pops out of nowhere, Shanks
- 56:26him in the neck and then just like dips.
- 56:29And then, yeah, Sid runs into the woods and he chases her.
- 56:32And then Liv takes the gun from Gabe and follows them into the
- 56:37woods. She finds Sid stabbed also in
- 56:40the throat. So that's where the killer likes
- 56:41to go. Go for the throat.
- 56:43Yeah, that's pretty. Effective she steps into a bear
- 56:46trap. She gets herself out of it
- 56:47pretty quickly, which I do appreciate them showing next.
- 56:50A lot of times when somebody steps in a bear trap in a movie,
- 56:52they're like, well, I'm here forever.
- 56:54Yep. And.
- 56:55You can actually. Yeah, you can get out of the
- 56:57bear trap. Like bears don't have thumbs the
- 57:00way humans do. Yeah.
- 57:01So it's like the thing in our cabinet right now that's keeping
- 57:04a cat out there. You just push the little thing
- 57:06down and then you can just burn. Yeah, there.
- 57:08You go, yeah, yeah. So the killer approaches, and
- 57:10Liv holds the gun up, and she's like, I'm in control now, get
- 57:14their bodies back to the cabin. We need to get our stories
- 57:16straight. Yeah, which I was confused at
- 57:21first, like why is she holding him at gunpoint?
- 57:23Because like if she's in on it, but then it's like this shit was
- 57:27not supposed to go down like this.
- 57:28Why the fuck did you start killing people and then?
- 57:31It's supposed to be a home invasion.
- 57:33Everybody would be scared and then her friends would be able
- 57:35to corroborate the story after. She would have the victim
- 57:38mentality and she would get all of her followers back and the
- 57:43killer rags another unknown body out and said I'm assuming this
- 57:47is the person you were working with.
- 57:51Another twist. So we got a flashback montage of
- 57:54Olivia searching for what was it a custom horror experience?
- 58:01Yeah, and she gets this something scares type business.
- 58:05Yeah, to do this, these are interesting.
- 58:09Would you ever be interested in doing something like this?
- 58:11Oh man. Like I like the idea of being
- 58:13like immersed in like a scary thing, but at the same time like
- 58:16the it's almost too real. Yes, it's one of those things
- 58:19that like, I know knowing that it's coming takes some of the
- 58:22realness out of it, but I would need to know it's coming
- 58:24because. You may genuinely kill.
- 58:26Some instincts, yes. Like those survival instincts
- 58:29kick in. In a weird way, it's kind of
- 58:30like the movie Game Night, where they know it's going to be a
- 58:34custom experience. They're having fun with it
- 58:36instead of, like, freaking out. Yeah, of course, that movie has
- 58:39its own multiple twists. Yeah, it's true.
- 58:41So go see Game Night if you haven't.
- 58:43It's on Netflix now. Yeah, it's on Netflix.
- 58:45We're not sponsored by Netflix. We're not sponsored by Netflix,
- 58:48but it's starring Rachel McAdams, Jason Bateman and IT.
- 58:52Feels like a plug. I know, but who's the other guy
- 58:55that we like? Jesse Plummons?
- 58:56Yes. Jesse Plummons Think, Yeah.
- 58:58So it's a good one anyway. I just.
- 59:01I mean, it's like if you like comedy movies and you like
- 59:04glamping, you will like Game Night.
- 59:06It's a really fun movie, yeah. It's not a plug, it's just a
- 59:09hey, we watch a lot of movies, it's kind of our thing.
- 59:12Yeah, that's true. OK, so now the guy, she's like,
- 59:15OK, who are you? He reveals his identity.
- 59:18He is Cyrus. Daisy's boyfriend.
- 59:21Yeah, he's like, I wanted you to hurt like she did.
- 59:24And this is a. So ugly now and I hate her.
- 59:28It's a completely different type of pain.
- 59:31Like if you want, see, I was thinking if you wanted her to
- 59:34hurt the way that she does, just like do what people do.
- 59:38I think this is like a big British thing.
- 59:40Like ass into the face. Oh God, those stories are always
- 59:43so awful. Yeah, it's terrible.
- 59:45It's. So fucked up.
- 59:46Yeah, I'm not condoning it. I'm not saying you should have
- 59:49done that, but like it would have made more sense for that to
- 59:51be the revenge. But yeah, so he's he's gonna
- 59:58kill her. Yeah, it's like you made it so
- 1:00:01easy. You shared all your shit.
- 1:00:02Yeah. You're an influence, and I like
- 1:00:04that She. I like that he calls that out.
- 1:00:06Yeah, but so he is like choking her out.
- 1:00:14But Gabe is not dead. He stabs him, knocks Cyrus off
- 1:00:18and then breaks up with Olivia. And she's like, you cannot break
- 1:00:22up with me. She fully crosses over into
- 1:00:25like, abuse her territory, starts throwing shit at him
- 1:00:28because he's like, we're done. And she was like, no, we're not.
- 1:00:32Yeah, he he's calling her out and yeah, he's trying to leave
- 1:00:36and she throws something at him. And she's like, I'm just trying
- 1:00:38to get your attention. I just want you to listen to me
- 1:00:41and. It escalates so much, Yeah.
- 1:00:44Like instead of like them just doing that, she grabs like the
- 1:00:47fucking. I don't know what it is like a
- 1:00:48fire poker or whatever. And.
- 1:00:51She like they wrestle over it and she gets the upper hand and
- 1:00:55stabs him in the chest with it. And then she starts alive about
- 1:00:59being scared and how all these murders happened, and we cut to
- 1:01:04paramedics and the police the next day.
- 1:01:06This. Is where you got your quote, no?
- 1:01:07Oh no, The next day. Oh yeah, yeah, yeah, OK.
- 1:01:10Cuz she's watching all of the bodies being dragged out and
- 1:01:13she's got like a little, you know, foil blanket around her.
- 1:01:16And she was looking at all of the comments and so many of them
- 1:01:18are so brave. Like praying for you.
- 1:01:21I wish I was strong like you. But then there are a couple in
- 1:01:23there. And my favorite 1 is this one
- 1:01:25from who is Kendra and shout out to our friend Kendra who I could
- 1:01:29see leaving this comment, which is just why did you go live?
- 1:01:33Yeah, great question. You have a phone, clearly you
- 1:01:35have service. Call 91 fucking one.
- 1:01:38I was walking through the comments like, hopefully
- 1:01:40somebody calls this out as weird, right?
- 1:01:42Because I love that. Because I think so many other
- 1:01:46movies would have just kept them all praising comments, but I
- 1:01:48like that they had a few of those and they're like what the
- 1:01:51fuck? Yeah, If it were me, I would be
- 1:01:53questioning if this is legitimate or not.
- 1:01:55I'd be like, this is maybe a publicity stunt, especially if
- 1:01:57this is somebody that just had some bad shit going down.
- 1:02:01Yeah, like it's like that one dude that.
- 1:02:03Jesse Small. Yeah, you knew exactly what I
- 1:02:06was talking about. He was like, yeah.
- 1:02:07Pretty infamous. I was getting like hanged and
- 1:02:09it's like that shit never happened.
- 1:02:11Dude, you're in jail. That that happened with, I can't
- 1:02:14remember the Queen's name, but a drag queen who had been on
- 1:02:19RuPaul's Drag Race, like staged this whole thing about their
- 1:02:23Uber driver. I don't remember all the
- 1:02:24details. This is not a very interesting
- 1:02:26story anyway. How do you rate the movie after
- 1:02:30after we've talked about it? I I think I might bump at the
- 1:02:346.5. Yeah, it's a decent little
- 1:02:37movie. It just, I just really wish they
- 1:02:40would have done the horror a little bit more.
- 1:02:42Yeah, I'm gonna keep mine out of seven.
- 1:02:44I think the big thing is there are a couple of those moments in
- 1:02:46the script that I wish we could have fleshed out a little bit
- 1:02:48more. Like with the with the tarot and
- 1:02:53the was there anything messed with the product or was it just
- 1:02:57a bad product and she's getting heat for pushing it?
- 1:03:00Yeah. I wish we had those a little bit
- 1:03:02more solid because obviously we had different interpretations of
- 1:03:05it. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 1:03:09It's not the perfect movie, but it's a serviceable movie.
- 1:03:13Who did you relate to? I relate to John.
- 1:03:17I'm just in the fact that like, I also like I, I'm not one of
- 1:03:21those people that is like going to be preachy to you about not
- 1:03:24being on your phone all the time because like we all are on our
- 1:03:27phones now. It's like a thing.
- 1:03:29But like, I do try to not keep myself attached to it and like,
- 1:03:34I try to be present sometimes, like as much as possible.
- 1:03:37Like I understand the frustrations of like going to do
- 1:03:40a thing with friends and stuff and all they do the entire time
- 1:03:43is like on their phone instead of like actually being in the
- 1:03:47moment with each other. But like, yeah, I, I, I
- 1:03:51appreciated that take. I related to John because when I
- 1:03:55drink, I'm also somewhat of a chaos gremlin.
- 1:03:59So that's not not. Ruining friendships level but
- 1:04:02just more like various chaotic moments.
- 1:04:07This is true. Yeah, this is true.
- 1:04:10Yeah, so I like, I've jumped fences and stuff and.
- 1:04:14You're the fun chaos. You're not the Oh by the way,
- 1:04:17here's some life changing shit right here.
- 1:04:19By the way, I hope you like therapy.
- 1:04:21By the way, here's a shotgun. Yeah, no, I'm definitely not
- 1:04:24going to shoot. Don't worry, I'll chip in.
- 1:04:26I like that line for me. Fucking asshole just.
- 1:04:30Like that's going to get charges.
- 1:04:31I'll chip in. Yeah.
- 1:04:33Fellas, fellas, fellas. It's OK.
- 1:04:35I'll chip in. I'm not gonna pay for it.
- 1:04:38I'll just help. Yeah, OK.
- 1:04:41We've already talked about Dream sequel.
- 1:04:42Do we do taglines? For these.
- 1:04:45We don't do taglines for these because we don't do a poster for
- 1:04:48them. That's right.
- 1:04:49Mostly on Drawn, remember? Yes.
- 1:04:52Yes, well I guess we do scouts favorite part now.
- 1:04:55We do scouts favorite part. What's scouts favorite part?
- 1:04:58I think she really appreciated when they were all in the hot
- 1:05:00tub stirring up shit because that's scouts favorite thing.
- 1:05:04She loves hot water and she likes being a fucking like
- 1:05:09Master of chaos like John here. Obviously, you're correct.
- 1:05:13There is no other moment. Yeah, that could be.
- 1:05:15I've gotten favorite moment. I've gotten to now.
- 1:05:18That one was just quintessential scout.
- 1:05:21I mean it is scout that is like that is what scout looks for.
- 1:05:24You don't understand, Scout. Like waits outside the bathroom
- 1:05:28door for when people are done in the shower because she wants to
- 1:05:30just sit in the warm wet tub. She crawls into the sink after
- 1:05:34we've done dishes. She's just fucking weird.
- 1:05:37She is. She weirdly likes water.
- 1:05:40Yeah, yeah, She's the only one of our pets that we can give a
- 1:05:42bath tube because she just like, yeah, cuz she just gets in the
- 1:05:45tub and she's like, I'm a Panther, yeah.
- 1:05:47She's like goes all all in with it.
- 1:05:49Yeah. All right.
- 1:05:51I've got 2 reviews as we do for this.
- 1:05:54I've got a positive and a negative.
- 1:05:56I will start with the negative. That way we can add on a
- 1:05:59positive note. OK, being nice there.
- 1:06:03All right, this one is kind of a long one.
- 1:06:05I normally don't do ones this long, but they it was really
- 1:06:09well thought out on the things they don't like about it.
- 1:06:12So this is a 2 out of 10 cheesy horror comedy spoof.
- 1:06:15Glamping is one of those movies that tries to say something
- 1:06:18about the modern obsession with social media, but never quite
- 1:06:20figures out how to make its point.
- 1:06:22At its core is a coming of age story centered on a young woman
- 1:06:24who's so consumed with online validation that she plans a
- 1:06:26glamorous camping trip for her followers, only for the entire
- 1:06:30getaway to spiral into chaos, betrayal and ultimately murder.
- 1:06:33On Paper is a clever concept that could have blended satire
- 1:06:35and horror the way Bodies, Bodies Bodies or Tragedy Girls
- 1:06:38did. Unfortunately, the execution is
- 1:06:40so unfocused that it loses sight of its own message before it
- 1:06:42even gets started. Screenplay is where most of the
- 1:06:45trouble lies. The story jumps from 1 tone to
- 1:06:47another teen comedy slasher social commentary without ever
- 1:06:50landing on one that works. Scenes feel disconnected, like
- 1:06:53pieces of a puzzle that were forced together just to reach a
- 1:06:55runtime. There's little build up or
- 1:06:57suspense, and the supposed mystery driving the film feels
- 1:07:00like an afterthought. The focus on social media
- 1:07:02obsession could have been sharp and relevant, but it's treated
- 1:07:05so superficially that it feels more like background noise than
- 1:07:07a meaningful theme. When the killer's finally
- 1:07:10revealed, it doesn't feel earned.
- 1:07:11The twist comes out of nowhere, involving a character who barely
- 1:07:14had any presence in the story up until that point.
- 1:07:16Instead of a shocking payoff, it feels more like the film makers
- 1:07:19ran out of ideas and picked a name out of a hat.
- 1:07:21The one saving grace is that the actor playing the killer
- 1:07:23actually delivers a surprisingly chilling performance.
- 1:07:26He's the only one who seems truly committed to the material.
- 1:07:29Watching someone you personally know pull off a genuinely creepy
- 1:07:32performance is always fun, but that alone can't redeem the
- 1:07:35entire movie. Oh, that was a quick little
- 1:07:37humble brag. The direction is equally
- 1:07:40inconsistent. It's as if the film makers
- 1:07:42weren't sure whether they were making a horror movie, a satire,
- 1:07:44or a dark comedy. The tone shifts constantly, and
- 1:07:46the pacing drags in the middle before rushing through the
- 1:07:48finale. Some moments are shot
- 1:07:50beautifully, giving off that Moody, atmospheric camp in the
- 1:07:53woods vibe, but they're immediately undercut by clunky
- 1:07:55dialogue or awkward performances.
- 1:07:57The film tries to build tension, but ends up falling flat because
- 1:08:00there's no emotional connection to the characters or clarity in
- 1:08:02the storytelling. The performances don't help much
- 1:08:05either. The lead actress, who's supposed
- 1:08:08to embody this generation social media addiction, comes off a
- 1:08:10shallow not because the character is written that way,
- 1:08:13but because the performance feels forced.
- 1:08:15The main male lead sounds detached and uninterested,
- 1:08:18almost as if he's sleepwalking through his lines.
- 1:08:20There's a strange lack of chemistry across the board,
- 1:08:22which makes it hard to root for anyone or even care when things
- 1:08:25start to go wrong. By the time credits roll,
- 1:08:27glamping feels like a missed opportunity.
- 1:08:29The idea of using a camping trip to explore how far people go for
- 1:08:32online fame could have been abiding commentary.
- 1:08:34Carry on influencer culture. But instead the movie collapses
- 1:08:36under poor writing, uneven tone and characters that never feel
- 1:08:39real. It's a messy mix of horror and
- 1:08:41comedy that never finds its balance.
- 1:08:42If anything, it serves as a reminder that a good concept
- 1:08:45means nothing without strong execution.
- 1:08:47OK, that is a respectable review right there, and they're not
- 1:08:51wrong. There are a few things that I
- 1:08:53disagree with. I do think that the characters
- 1:08:55have decent chemistry and I I like the twist at the end, the
- 1:08:59double twist. Well, I, I kind of understand
- 1:09:01what they're saying. It did feel kind of like, and
- 1:09:04here they are, you know what I mean?
- 1:09:05Like not there wasn't a lot of connection to that or it did
- 1:09:11feel kind of random, like it makes sense.
- 1:09:13But again, like I was saying at the beginning, like this kind of
- 1:09:15movie, it didn't need to be like a strong connection.
- 1:09:18It could have been anybody. I didn't think Olivia's
- 1:09:22character. I thought that they did the
- 1:09:24writing where they did make it like we're like she was
- 1:09:28relatable in that sense. They like she was in like a
- 1:09:31shitty position and then she had this like you found fame thrust
- 1:09:34upon it. She was.
- 1:09:35Working really hard. She had two majors.
- 1:09:37She had a part time job where that was like related to the
- 1:09:40field she wanted to go in. Yeah, she was working hard and
- 1:09:43then got lucky with the influencing and didn't want to
- 1:09:45lose that. Yeah, I feel like that's a very
- 1:09:47relatable moment, especially in 2025.
- 1:09:50Yeah, I I thought that they handled her character well.
- 1:09:53I didn't think that they have asked that.
- 1:09:54And I don't think that the actor did a bad job either.
- 1:09:57I thought she did a really good job with what she was given.
- 1:10:00I do agree with you and with this this reviewer though, that
- 1:10:04like they could have ramped up those horror elements that way
- 1:10:07it doesn't all feel just thrown at you at the last 15 minutes.
- 1:10:10It feels like this wasn't meant to be a horror movie.
- 1:10:12And they were like, we'll fuck it.
- 1:10:14Like let's make it horror. Just so like, get that crowd,
- 1:10:16you know what I mean? Like it, just like it was so
- 1:10:19thrown together in the last moment.
- 1:10:21OK I have a 10 out of 10 also. OK there were there were only
- 1:10:25like 5 reviews for this so well. It's a new movie, yeah.
- 1:10:28Fun watch, not really scary. Really enjoyed this.
- 1:10:30Pretty good for a Tubby movie. Tubby's been killing it lately.
- 1:10:33I really like the main girl in her wardrobe, great chemistry
- 1:10:36with her and the boyfriend. Acting was good, it was well
- 1:10:38cast, dialogue was funny. I think this is more of a horror
- 1:10:41comedy with elements of drama. There's definitely a Gen.
- 1:10:44Z film. Social commentary was necessary,
- 1:10:46would recommend. Yeah.
- 1:10:48And I agree about the wardrobe because there were a lot of
- 1:10:50moments when I was like, oh, I really like that.
- 1:10:52Oh, that's really which you should for an influencer.
- 1:10:54Like she should have the cute clothes that you're like, I kind
- 1:10:57of want that. I feel like this also applies to
- 1:10:59like millennials too. I don't think it, I think it, I
- 1:11:01mean, we had Gen. Z people here, so it definitely
- 1:11:03probably relates to them. And there's a lot of like I, I,
- 1:11:06I'm now guessing like, OK, is this like, is this where Gen.
- 1:11:09Z is? It's it's weird because like,
- 1:11:10we're only 10 years removed from these characters at.
- 1:11:13This point. But like.
- 1:11:15It feels age is different it. Feels completely different.
- 1:11:18Yeah, like it is interesting, but God, I don't even remember
- 1:11:23what I was saying. OK.
- 1:11:28I think that leaves us with just articular question.
- 1:11:33To be or. Not to be or not to be.
- 1:11:35OK, I say yeah, I'd say give this a shot.
- 1:11:39It it's a decent little movie. I don't I don't think it's bad
- 1:11:42at all. It's not a bad watch.
- 1:11:44If you're into the influencer movies, definitely give it a
- 1:11:47shot. I agree, too.
- 1:11:49I had fun with this. I mean, yeah, it has its
- 1:11:52problems, but I mean, our whole show is nitpicking and we can
- 1:11:55find that in a lot of movies. It's a fun.
- 1:11:57It's a fun movie. It's an hour and 20 minutes.
- 1:12:01I liked the characters, it was a good time.
- 1:12:04Yeah, and you won't be bored, I'll tell you that.
- 1:12:07Especially with all the shit that John does throughout the
- 1:12:10entire movie, right? He keeps it spicy.
- 1:12:13He's a lot of fun. So, all right, be sure that if
- 1:12:16this sounds like something you wanna check out, you can do it
- 1:12:19on Doobie. All right, cool.
- 1:12:21All right. I I think that that does it for
