Parade of Homes is underway and joining us this morning with the Madison Area Builders

Association, the executive director, Chad Lawler. Chad, I always look forward

to talking to you a couple of times a year about the Parade of Homes.

How you doing this morning? Doing well. We're already three days into

the ten day parade the spring, and so far the weather's been great and

the homes are amazing. So just doing great and looking forward to more attendees

coming out to see us this week. It's a great, great time.

As you mentioned, the weather's been Prefect's a nice data step in also doing

nice air conditioned homes. It's gonna be great, true great for the more

big one, the seventy fifth Madison Area Prey to Home this year though the

seventy fourth no slouch. I'm looking at the website and I was looking at

some of the some of the homes that you have featured up on the website.

It's an exciting year to be looking at looking at homes, isn't it.

Chat It really is, and I think if I can describe this year,

it's a variety. If we have anything from kind of that home you're

looking as a starter or maybe your first build in different communities, including Portage

this year it's their first entry ever from a home and Portage, but just

showing a different community, a different price point, and then going up to

seven eight ten thousand square foot homes. So variety is of plenty this year.

During the prey homes, I see a few homes in Wanaque, speaking

of kind of the north northwest area, all the way down as far I

mean it gets you guys, go pretty far at south of New Glarus one

of the homes as well. And that's a fun thing we mentioned. Of

course you're a few days into it. This is, of course the medicinarya

parade of Homes Builders Association running through its runs through this weekend. It's a

good time to get out and maybe every couple of days maybe go north,

south, east or west to kind of take that and you mentioned the variety,

and one of the things that I find super impressive about about the parade

of homes and what area builders are doing is houses with character seems to be

kind of a thing where it's like your individualized home, something that fits you.

There was a while there, and we'll call it the decade the nineties,

where it felt like Chad and and don't take this the wrong way,

but a lot of houses being built back then, they all kind of looked

the same, they felt the same, they kind of actually were the same.

I look at the houses at the parade, and I look at the

new developments going in right now, and just amazing what's being done as far

as custom and unique homes. Yeah, I think one of the things we

noticed in you said the nineties, but it really came up even in probably

COVID when we you know, made the decision to add scattered individual homes into

the parade, And it really was for that reason. There was you know,

we'd be in a development and all the houses would kind of look the

same. By adding that scattered it's really changed the dynamic of allowing all those

custom homes that maybe never would have met in there before, at different price

points, different communities to be in. So it just really adds that variety

to it. Now. I will note we do have two sites this year,

one in Windsor Gardens which has three homes, and the one Golden Ponds,

which is in jan Key, has eight homes. The variety within the

actual developments themselves is amazing. Yeah, it's no longer that cookie cutter every

house looks the same. You know, Windsor is a great example. We

have three homes there. The exteriors are all different colors, different products.

You know, there's a lot of natural stone on one high versus other ones,

or more of the you know, the James Hardy Ford or the LP

Smart side. So it's just a lot of variety even just from the exterior

of the homes. Talking this morning with Chad Lawler, he is with the

Madison Area Builders Association. Of course, the parade of homes underway right now,

running through the weekend weekdays they are running eight a or four pm to

eight pm, and then weekends from eleven until five again that's four pm until

eight pm weekdays and Saturday and Sunday from eleven until five are going to run

through this weekend. I noticed one of the houses too, and I found

this to be to be very cool. Is there is a it's an island

in a kitchen, and if you look closely at the island, there's a

little notch, a little nook cut out, and there's a little place for

a cat or a dog I'm gonna guess for a dog's food and water,

just kind of put in. There are little things like that. As we

talk about, maybe somebody is not not necessarily going to buy one of the

houses featured in the parade, maybe they're looking looking for a builder or somebody

or looking for ideas. Do we see a lot of people just kind of

walking around with a notepad or I guess these days on their phone taking pictures

of things and taking notes of different builder, different design, different concepts.

Yeah. I think that's one of the best parts about the Prey. It

is you don't have to be coming into the Prey because you're building today.

Like you mentioned, this could be your opportunity to find your builder or even

a remodeler for the future, or it's just something to get it kind of

an idea. What's the newest trends? What are something that I can take

and add to my house, and sometimes that's just pink colors or interior design

concepts. We see individuals walk in, you know, some people are taking

photos on their phone. Others have blueprints with them, they have their you

know, tape measure attached to the hip. Just they're trying to see how

the homes and the concepts and the trends could fit into their homes or their

future builds. So it really runs the gambit of everybody who's looking for just

inspiration, or even if you're not looking for that inspiration, it gives you

that opportunity just to kind of see something new, get out of the house

and have fun for the weekend. It is old weekday. It is a
