Transcript
- 0:00Speaker 1: I got a mission to find some of the cheapest,
- 0:02Speaker 1: well maybe even best candy you've ever had. So our
- 0:05Speaker 1: first stop is gonna be Dollar General. I'm gonna go
- 0:08Speaker 1: through the candy section. We're gonna try some stuff that
- 0:11Speaker 1: maybe looks good, looks terrible, some stuff I've never had.
- 0:14Speaker 1: It's gonna be interesting. Dollar General used to be a
- 0:17Speaker 1: bunch of different things. Pharmacy. Last, let's see what this has.
- 0:21Speaker 1: It's a new location.
- 0:21Speaker 2: It's gonna be stocked with some some good deals.
- 0:41Speaker 1: There we go. We got a bunch of stuff. Don't
- 0:44Speaker 1: worry about the fabric softener. We're not gonna try that.
- 0:46Speaker 1: But uh well, let's go and try it. Welcome back,
- 0:50Speaker 1: everybody to stay out of my fridge. This could go
- 0:52Speaker 1: down as the greatest or worst potential episode ever. Not
- 0:56Speaker 1: only have we gone weeks and weeks and weeks with
- 0:59Speaker 1: no co hosts, we not only have one or two three,
- 1:04Speaker 1: and I think it's a first time er, super nervous,
- 1:06Speaker 1: but we at least know that there's going to be
- 1:09Speaker 1: one more probably listener and follower after this. Allegedly. Anyways,
- 1:15Speaker 1: I'll try not to say anything embarrassing, but the boy
- 1:17Speaker 1: serire with me. It's mad at s beard Laws joining
- 1:19Speaker 1: me as always is the co host of the Yourtown podcast.
- 1:22Speaker 1: She goes by the Dundun Queen there. If you don't know,
- 1:24Speaker 1: go check out the hortone podcast YouTube dot com. Slash
- 1:26Speaker 1: your Town. Meg Hey and formally co host of well
- 1:32Speaker 1: wind Bag Whispers and decided just to be too busy
- 1:35Speaker 1: to join us here on State of My Fridge. Is
- 1:37Speaker 1: a very hi and first time ever I think we've
- 1:41Speaker 1: we've only referred to you as Sissy, not like because
- 1:44Speaker 1: you're a wimp, but like because you're a sister. So
- 1:46Speaker 1: I don't know how much you want to say your
- 1:48Speaker 1: name or don't say your name, but Sissy's joining us
- 1:50Speaker 1: for the first time ever on a podcast or were
- 1:52Speaker 1: you on win Bag Whispers once? I was first time
- 1:55Speaker 1: stay out of my fridgein' nervous, No a little bit. No,
- 1:58Speaker 1: this is a good one. And you're probably thinking, why
- 2:00Speaker 1: did the teenager join us? Well, I offered free candy
- 2:03Speaker 1: and dinner for transparency. So the original plan of this
- 2:07Speaker 1: one was to go to Dollar General and try to
- 2:12Speaker 1: find fifty percent off Easter candy and then I was
- 2:15Speaker 1: gonna have just people try it with me, and everything
- 2:17Speaker 1: turns out we went to the Dollar General, which used
- 2:19Speaker 1: to be a Walgreens, which was used to be a
- 2:21Speaker 1: Right Aid, which used to be probably other things, and
- 2:23Speaker 1: they didn't have anything Easter related at all. So we
- 2:27Speaker 1: switched gears. And if you guys don't know, now you know,
- 2:30Speaker 1: do you guys know what we're gonna do? Did I
- 2:32Speaker 1: give a spoiler?
- 2:34Speaker 3: Turned up a little bit.
- 2:36Speaker 1: Well, what we're gonna do is I went and found
- 2:38Speaker 1: the cheapest candy possible. Every single thing that I bought
- 2:42Speaker 1: was a dollar. And we got a bunch of stuff,
- 2:44Speaker 1: and we're gonna try them, and we're gonna be very
- 2:46Speaker 1: honest about them, because you girls have tried a lot
- 2:50Speaker 1: of candy. And I know that you don't overly love
- 2:53Speaker 1: chocolate at least today, right, but you like gummies and
- 2:58Speaker 1: sour things. So I kept that in mind. But I
- 3:01Speaker 1: maybe also got some stuff you're not gonna like, avery
- 3:04Speaker 1: I'm not really sure, because you change what you like
- 3:06Speaker 1: and you don't like every other week. So one day
- 3:08Speaker 1: I like pizza, one day I love pizza, one day
- 3:10Speaker 1: I hate pizza. One day I'm not eating bread, one
- 3:12Speaker 1: day I'm eating bread with just mayonnaise. Things change, So
- 3:17Speaker 1: there's gonna be some stuff you definitely don't like. Meg,
- 3:19Speaker 1: I think you pretty much will like most of it.
- 3:21Speaker 1: There are some things that I'm going to hate and
- 3:22Speaker 1: you might see me actually throw up on camera, which
- 3:24Speaker 1: would be terribly disgusting, And I do apologize, and I
- 3:28Speaker 1: want to anybody that's just listening only will try our
- 3:31Speaker 1: best not to be an ASMR channel where you're just
- 3:33Speaker 1: hearing us chew into that, because I'm not into that.
- 3:37Speaker 1: But if it happens, it happens. And we had a
- 3:40Speaker 1: twenty dollars budget at Dollar General and either pre this
- 3:46Speaker 1: or as this, I do have footage that I'm gonna
- 3:48Speaker 1: put in there of me going into the Dollar General
- 3:49Speaker 1: showing you the candy section and buying some stuff. So
- 3:54Speaker 1: not that you need too, but there's some weird stuff
- 3:56Speaker 1: in there. Do you guys have any guesses anything you're
- 3:57Speaker 1: excited or anything that you are absolutely dreading.
- 4:00Speaker 3: I've probably seen it all. We get a lot of
- 4:02Speaker 3: candy a Dollar General m chocolate covered reasons.
- 4:05Speaker 1: Well, what's the brand? I felt like there was like
- 4:07Speaker 1: their own brand.
- 4:08Speaker 3: Yeah, it's like a plastic packaging. I don't know what
- 4:11Speaker 3: it's called.
- 4:11Speaker 1: But except for.
- 4:15Speaker 3: You didn't let me finish there's like a circle ish
- 4:20Speaker 3: kind of oval logo.
- 4:22Speaker 1: Is it like sweet smiles or something?
- 4:23Speaker 3: Yeah, something like crap.
- 4:25Speaker 1: So you've tried a lot.
- 4:25Speaker 4: Of this, I mean I tried as much as they have.
- 4:29Speaker 4: I bought a quick bit.
- 4:30Speaker 5: I don't.
- 4:31Speaker 3: I haven't tried a lot. I've seen it, but like
- 4:33Speaker 3: I only get a certain kind.
- 4:34Speaker 4: It's pretty particular.
- 4:35Speaker 3: Get I get something, and if I like it, I
- 4:37Speaker 3: get that, and then I don't get anything else.
- 4:39Speaker 1: That sounds about right.
- 4:40Speaker 5: I've only tried the blue rings.
- 4:45Speaker 1: I don't think I got those. And there are some
- 4:46Speaker 1: things that I had no idea. So for anybody that
- 4:48Speaker 1: is watching the tubes of the ubes, the YouTube, this
- 4:52Speaker 1: is the bag. It looks like one of the old
- 4:55Speaker 1: school like pranks where you would like, poop in a bag,
- 4:58Speaker 1: light on fire and put it by the door. Do
- 5:00Speaker 1: you guys ever do that? No, don't do that. That's bad.
- 5:03Speaker 1: They have ring doorbells, Allegedly people would do that. I
- 5:06Speaker 1: never did that, but they didn't have ring doorbells either,
- 5:08Speaker 1: or security cameras. But this is all in here, so
- 5:10Speaker 1: I think we just go in blindly. I'll go first, No,
- 5:13Speaker 1: not ladies first, So we'll pass over to Meg she'll
- 5:17Speaker 1: pick the first one. That way, you guys can pick
- 5:19Speaker 1: it as we go, and you can't blame me for
- 5:21Speaker 1: picking something nasty, even though I originally picked it. Shout

- 7:01Speaker 1: you can make one hundred percent satisfied eight eight three
- 7:03Speaker 1: or nine ninety thirty. And I think if I'm not satisfied,
- 7:05Speaker 1: I'm dialing the phone. I'm gonna tell Sweet Smiles probably.
- 7:08Speaker 4: Also one hundred percent sugar.
- 7:12Speaker 1: There's probably a lot. I wasn't gonna really look at that,

- 7:36Speaker 1: I guess hopefully you guys have clean hands.
- 7:38Speaker 4: It's usually a tear thing on top can ease it
- 7:40Speaker 4: a terra thing.
- 7:42Speaker 3: I don't like sweets very much, so I'm probably gonna
- 7:44Speaker 3: get sick of this very quickly.
- 7:45Speaker 1: Yes, this is going to be interesting. Do we want
- 7:47Speaker 1: to go full one or split them?
- 7:52Speaker 5: Oh?
- 7:53Speaker 3: I like circus peanuts.
- 7:54Speaker 4: I make them.
- 7:55Speaker 1: You guys want to give them the smell test.
- 7:56Speaker 3: I make my peep stale too, because I like the
- 7:59Speaker 3: tech sture.
- 8:00Speaker 1: It's kind of what do they smell like?
- 8:03Speaker 5: More smobs?
- 8:05Speaker 3: I have?
- 8:06Speaker 4: I know exactly what it smells like.
- 8:07Speaker 3: Smells like bubble gums.

- 8:15Speaker 1: round one of the dollar general things three two one?
- 8:20Speaker 1: Oh I got it harder.
- 8:21Speaker 4: Oh, I would lose it to We're not that hard.
- 8:26Speaker 1: We're not that great.
- 8:27Speaker 4: Think it's.
- 8:30Speaker 1: Mm hmm. You probably should have staggered the bites so
- 8:34Speaker 1: we were all I mean it tastes like it's fat free.
- 8:39Speaker 4: It tastes exactly like I remember it.
- 8:41Speaker 1: It's really good. But you had the official Circus peanuts
- 8:45Speaker 1: probably back back in your eyes. Yes, made the original
- 8:49Speaker 1: Circus peanuts.
- 8:50Speaker 4: I have no idea.
- 8:51Speaker 3: Probably Circus people.
- 8:55Speaker 6: I love these original Circus peanuts making my mouth dry.
- 9:00Speaker 1: That's a good thing, I told you. Do you have
- 9:02Speaker 1: some water we got? Spangler is a is a brand
- 9:06Speaker 1: that came up. I don't know how true that is.
- 9:08Speaker 1: Circus peanuts are a nostalgic peanut shape. Yeah, we know.
- 9:11Speaker 1: Marshmallow invented. Do you guys know what year it was invented?
- 9:15Speaker 6: Eighteen twenty five saying nineteen twenty three, nineteen forty.
- 9:23Speaker 1: It was in the eighteen hundreds.
- 9:25Speaker 5: I was close.
- 9:26Speaker 1: Do you know the flavor of the actual flavor profile
- 9:29Speaker 1: of these banana? But also there's three other LSOs marshmallows available.
- 9:36Speaker 1: Primarily banana is the original, but there's also available in lemon, vanilla,
- 9:40Speaker 1: and cherry.
- 9:42Speaker 4: I've never seen those.
- 9:44Speaker 1: Describe the texture to see if it matches what the
- 9:46Speaker 1: what the Internet says.
- 9:47Speaker 3: Like marshmallow, like a still marshmallow if it got condensed?
- 9:52Speaker 5: You no, like bubblegum like, not like, I don't know
- 9:56Speaker 5: how to explain it clearly, stale sticks of bubble gum.
- 10:02Speaker 3: That's what the text.
- 10:03Speaker 1: She would open it from a nineteen eighty card. All right,
- 10:07Speaker 1: So theirs was a chewy, dense marshmallow. Consistency different from
- 10:10Speaker 1: a standard marshmallow. You said dense? Okay, I mean I
- 10:16Speaker 1: like how they melt, all right, one through ten. Let's
- 10:19Speaker 1: give them a rating. I'm gonna go with a two
- 10:21Speaker 1: point two, eight, with.
- 10:24Speaker 4: A seven point one, are you going with us?
- 10:26Speaker 5: Three?
- 10:29Speaker 1: All right? Two point two. I didn't love it. I
- 10:33Speaker 1: didn't like it, but you guys also would like banana
- 10:36Speaker 1: runs and something. All right, should we move to the
- 10:38Speaker 1: next one? Anything else about the circus peanuts not bad.
- 10:41Speaker 1: What we're gonna do to is we're gonna rank them
- 10:44Speaker 1: with our best. We're gonna see as a group which
- 10:46Speaker 1: one we find the best. So obviously this is the best.
- 10:49Speaker 3: Can I keep those?
- 10:50Speaker 1: I mean, we're gonna throw them away, but yeah.
- 10:52Speaker 3: Can I have the moms share?
- 10:54Speaker 1: You guys can share?
- 10:55Speaker 5: All right?
- 10:55Speaker 1: So this is number one. I wish I had, like
- 10:58Speaker 1: a cool stand turn to button my button. We'll just
- 11:03Speaker 1: go one, okay, Adrian, I'm gonna reach in and hand
- 11:07Speaker 1: you one. Do you want to reach it yourself?
- 11:09Speaker 5: You could do it?
- 11:11Speaker 1: Next?
- 11:11Speaker 5: Up stop pull?
- 11:13Speaker 3: Oh no, what is that I've always wanted to try?
- 11:19Speaker 1: All right, next, how about me and you split one? Okay,
- 11:22Speaker 1: we are going to do toasted coconut macarooms. This is
- 11:26Speaker 1: an old fashioned recipe. Serving sizes got.
- 11:30Speaker 4: So many one, three, three, you.
- 11:35Speaker 1: Wouldn't split the middle two? It's two about I love
- 11:38Speaker 1: how this it says about two pieces rough.
- 11:43Speaker 3: Uh.
- 11:43Speaker 1: This is a Crown Candy Corporation, maker of Pualda Candy
- 11:46Speaker 1: since nineteen twenty four. No uh, no guarantees on these.
- 11:50Speaker 1: But guess what state these came out of?
- 11:53Speaker 5: Hawaiian Florida.
- 11:55Speaker 3: I was gonna say Florida or Florida close Georgia, George?
- 12:00Speaker 1: All right, me and me and Aby were gonna split
- 12:02Speaker 1: one because I hate coconut me too.
- 12:07Speaker 3: I think you choose the loudest ways to open back.
- 12:11Speaker 1: Letting the listeners know what we got going on.
- 12:13Speaker 4: Like this was a shell created just for me and low.
- 12:16Speaker 3: Okay, all of these are gonna have high ratings. I
- 12:19Speaker 3: love souit.
- 12:20Speaker 1: I mean this doesn't smell terrible.
- 12:22Speaker 3: Small.
- 12:24Speaker 1: You take the first bite and then you can pass
- 12:26Speaker 1: it over to me. You're not sick, right, all right?
- 12:29Speaker 1: So on the cup of three, the ladies are gonna
- 12:31Speaker 1: eat the toasted coconut macaroons. Old fashioned recipes should three.
- 12:37Speaker 1: Oh yeah, you guys smell and smell goods? Are you
- 12:40Speaker 1: gonna throw up? No? Can take a little bite three
- 12:44Speaker 1: two one. Harm Avery instantly spit it back out like
- 12:55Speaker 1: a baby trying some uh peas or whatever those.
- 13:00Speaker 4: I thought she was gonna fake biting it. I didn't
- 13:02Speaker 4: think she would actually do it. I was kind of
- 13:04Speaker 4: impressed that you did.
- 13:06Speaker 1: Okay, I'm another lot. I like this better than I
- 13:09Speaker 1: thought I would. This isn't terrible.
- 13:11Speaker 4: They make these two with the bottom dipped in chocolate.
- 13:15Speaker 3: Those are so good.
- 13:17Speaker 1: Don't love it, but I like it better than circus
- 13:19Speaker 1: peanuts for me. Avery, Well, they're finished up there too,
- 13:24Speaker 1: and you're gonna go ahead and go ahead.
- 13:26Speaker 5: And rank these one which maybe gag it did make yag.
- 13:34Speaker 1: I'm gonna go with mine. I'm gonna go uh, I'm
- 13:36Speaker 1: gonna go four point one, four point one.
- 13:38Speaker 3: I must say a five point two, five point two.
- 13:41Speaker 4: I'm giving this like a solid eight point five. Wow,
- 13:45Speaker 4: I like my favorite kind of candy.
- 13:48Speaker 1: Okay again, maybe you guys don't think macaroons are officially candy,
- 13:52Speaker 1: but they were in the candy aisle.
- 13:53Speaker 4: So that gluten free.
- 13:57Speaker 1: Really, macaroons not bad, I mean not, kind.
- 14:01Speaker 3: Of just coconut squished together.
- 14:04Speaker 1: So this is our number two, right, This is definitely
- 14:07Speaker 1: not passing the circus peanuts based on rankings. Okay, he
- 14:12Speaker 1: love you. I wanted to reach in here and grab
- 14:13Speaker 1: some for you. I want to grab it, but look, no, peaky, peaky,
- 14:18Speaker 1: you got it. You got a hold back Again, all
- 14:23Speaker 1: of these dollar General dollar buys flows in. I love oh.
- 14:34Speaker 4: I feel like what she got from the same cloth.
- 14:37Speaker 1: Here, spice draps.
- 14:38Speaker 5: I like these.
- 14:39Speaker 3: I actually don't hate them.
- 14:41Speaker 4: Grim always I can say those are my mom's favorite.
- 14:43Speaker 5: I always have.
- 14:43Speaker 4: She always has them in the glass dish mm hmm.
- 14:46Speaker 1: Got the same satisfaction guarantee. Apparently I'm the loudest opener ever.
- 14:52Speaker 3: There you go. You figured it out.
- 14:53Speaker 1: I got it terribly. I'm gonna go with an orange one,
- 14:56Speaker 1: gonna let you guys pick it out. I feel like
- 15:00Speaker 1: this is my new number one.
- 15:02Speaker 3: Because some of the red ones I've seen them.
- 15:05Speaker 1: It doesn't smell like anything, should it? Smell like something.
- 15:10Speaker 4: I forgot the red ones not sure they are?
- 15:14Speaker 3: You sure the green ones are?
- 15:15Speaker 1: So they are different profiles. Right, So we got a
- 15:19Speaker 1: what's that of purple?
- 15:20Speaker 5: Mm hmm?
- 15:21Speaker 1: And we got an orange or red? I got an
- 15:22Speaker 1: orange low scone.
- 15:23Speaker 4: Yeah, I think the green is spearmint.
- 15:27Speaker 1: Would you rather have the orange? Good?
- 15:31Speaker 3: I'll do two different.
- 15:34Speaker 1: Let's do this white straps dollar general dollar, Bye. I
- 15:40Speaker 1: don't like these.
- 15:42Speaker 4: It's just this cinnermon.
- 15:47Speaker 1: Oranges.
- 15:48Speaker 5: That's just good.
- 15:50Speaker 1: You tasted like if I was walking through the woods
- 15:53Speaker 1: and spearmint gums and a pine needle fell in my mouth. Nope,
- 16:00Speaker 1: we's got a lot of this. True. You want me
- 16:02Speaker 1: to do doubles.
- 16:05Speaker 5: Dutch cinnamon? I just had a.
- 16:13Speaker 1: Yeah, let's see spice drop official flavor worse? Yeah, I got.
- 16:21Speaker 1: I got pretty rough. Apparently clove is orange, that's what
- 16:25Speaker 1: I had. Spearmint is green, cinnamon red. Oh, that's fun
- 16:29Speaker 1: to say. Sassafras was yellow. Nobody did a little sassafras.
- 16:34Speaker 1: I feel like white is peppermint, and purple or black
- 16:38Speaker 1: is licorice. And a niss and an he say an
- 16:42Speaker 1: a niece a n I see sorry, I'm looking over here,
- 16:46Speaker 1: there's a couple of Amish buggies racing. Everybody was wondering.
- 16:50Speaker 1: I can't put on my camera. It's against the religion.
- 16:53Speaker 1: Spice drops orange kind of wish it into a full bite,
- 16:58Speaker 1: but I've had worse for me. I'm gonna go three
- 17:03Speaker 1: point nine three point nine on the spice straps five
- 17:09Speaker 1: five rookie.
- 17:09Speaker 5: Score four point two two point.

- 33:50Speaker 1: Did a honey blue shark? What was the other third?

- 34:16Speaker 4: I's gonna say she's probably came in second.
- 34:19Speaker 1: Bit of honey came in first, and we're gonna give
- 34:22Speaker 1: the worms the third. Yeah, I mean that's pretty fair rating, right,
- 34:26Speaker 1: is that fun?
- 34:27Speaker 4: Yeah?
- 34:28Speaker 1: Well that's a that's a wrap on the episode, just

- 34:38Speaker 1: of a what do they order, a Mexican basket of
- 34:42Speaker 1: different treats, a Japanese basket, an international basket, and then
- 34:46Speaker 1: Meg decided that one of these ones, we're gonna have
- 34:48Speaker 1: a canned goods episode where we're gonna try things like
- 34:51Speaker 1: spam and canned bread and some crazy off the wall,
