- 0:00Speaker 1: All right, so back to it. 5.06 on a Tuesday afternoon,
- 0:03Speaker 1: middle of June already. Nice day out there, 75 degrees.
- 0:06Speaker 1: Emanuel is basically saying, you're basically saying, you're acting as
- 0:12Speaker 1: though the president, Trump, has nothing to do with this deal,
- 0:15Speaker 1: and he can't mix it or doesn't have any say-so
- 0:17Speaker 1: on it. And I would argue with you, he's got
- 0:19Speaker 1: every say-so on it.
- 0:22Speaker 2: Okay, well, let's talk. Okay, now listen. Now, check this out, right? Now,
- 0:28Speaker 2: everybody else has come to an agreement, not a memorandum.
- 0:32Speaker 2: They've come to an agreement to sign. Now, I told
- 0:35Speaker 2: you Donald Trump won't go for this. So Donald Trump
- 0:39Speaker 2: is saying, now listen to what he says. Well, I
- 0:41Speaker 2: don't really know what's in the negotiation, right? You know,
- 0:44Speaker 2: we're going to sign it. He's not getting what he wanted.
- 0:47Speaker 2: You better believe if Donald Trump got what he wanted,
- 0:51Speaker 2: we would know about it right now. So what he's
- 0:53Speaker 2: going to do is he's going to try to step
- 0:55Speaker 2: up in front, right, and say that he's doing this.
- 0:58Speaker 2: But that memorandum is for 60 days. What's the saying?
- 1:05Speaker 2: Within those 60 days, there won't be no more bombing.
- 1:08Speaker 2: So the bottom line is this. What I'm worried about
- 1:13Speaker 2: is a word back from the 1960s in Vietnam. It's
- 1:17Speaker 2: called mission creep.
- 1:20Speaker 3: China. China.
- 1:21Speaker 2: I don't know if you know this, but China has
- 1:23Speaker 2: a railroad that goes from Beijing to Iran. It goes
- 1:28Speaker 2: through four countries. I don't know if you know about that,
- 1:30Speaker 2: but it's there. And also, Iran, since they sent weapons
- 1:36Speaker 2: to Russia to fight Ukraine, Iran has factories across the
- 1:42Speaker 2: border in Russia building doggone drones and things like that.
- 1:49Speaker 2: So the bottom line is this. Just like in Vietnam,
- 1:52Speaker 2: what Trump needs to do is he needs to shut
- 1:54Speaker 2: up and go along with everybody else. Because as long
- 1:59Speaker 2: as he does this, our economy is going to be
- 2:01Speaker 2: terrible and he can't win. We can't win this, Ron.
- 2:06Speaker 2: When everybody else say, listen, sign it, and he says, well,
- 2:10Speaker 2: I'm just going to do a memorandum or.
- 2:14Speaker 4: Whatever, right?
- 2:14Speaker 2: Just sign the doggone thing, right, and get out of there.
- 2:18Speaker 2: And he says, well, I need the Europeans to help
- 2:22Speaker 2: me unblock this. They already did what they're going to do.
- 2:25Speaker 2: Nobody's paying Donald Trump no attention. Don't you understand that?
- 2:29Speaker 2: He is messing up. Go along with the agreement.
- 2:36Speaker 4: Well, what am I missing? I thought he did.
- 2:39Speaker 1: I thought they docu-signed it. And I don't know the
- 2:44Speaker 1: details of it yet. They haven't released it all yet.
- 2:48Speaker 1: As I understand it, correct me if I'm wrong, it's
- 2:50Speaker 1: been docu-signed, electronically signed, and J.D. Vance is going to
- 2:55Speaker 1: go to the actual physical presence when this is, what
- 3:01Speaker 1: do you say, finalized or whatever? And it appears, I
- 3:06Speaker 1: don't know what the details of it are. I mean,
- 3:09Speaker 1: everybody speculates what they could be. I don't know what
- 3:13Speaker 1: the details of it are. They say, and I don't
- 3:16Speaker 1: know how they would know, the Strait would reopen.
- 3:18Speaker 4: There won't be any tolls.
- 3:21Speaker 1: Some of Iran's money will be released back to them
- 3:24Speaker 1: if they meet certain criteria. And the nuclear, I don't
- 3:30Speaker 1: know where the whole nuclear issue goes. If I back
- 3:34Speaker 1: up for just a bit with you to bend your ear,
- 3:36Speaker 1: as I said, I think this was a bad idea
- 3:38Speaker 1: from the very beginning. I think it's a bad idea.
- 3:41Speaker 1: I think he was brought into it with Netanyahu. I
- 3:45Speaker 1: think he thought that this would be over much sooner
- 3:47Speaker 1: than it is. And it didn't. And I think Trump's
- 3:51Speaker 1: back is up against the wall, too. I think Trump
- 3:53Speaker 1: is saying, OK, we are running out of oil. We
- 3:56Speaker 1: have a shortage of oil. We're hitting tank bottom, if
- 3:59Speaker 1: you will, in our refineries. We have a shortage of
- 4:03Speaker 1: where oil's an issue now. So his back is up
- 4:07Speaker 1: against the wall when he's looking around saying, as far
- 4:11Speaker 1: as supply is concerned, as far as inflation is concerned,
- 4:15Speaker 1: and he's got to reach a deal, or this thing
- 4:18Speaker 1: would have gotten a lot worse if, as far as
- 4:22Speaker 1: the cost of gasoline or diesel, and inflation would have
- 4:26Speaker 1: got a lot worse. So his back was up against
- 4:28Speaker 1: the wall. So do I think this is, I don't
- 4:31Speaker 1: know what the deal is. Do I think it's going
- 4:33Speaker 1: to be some great deal? No, I think he probably
- 4:35Speaker 1: compromised on a lot of stuff to get something accomplished
- 4:41Speaker 1: so he could get out of this mess that he created.
- 4:44Speaker 1: I mean, if I had to speculate to get out
- 4:46Speaker 1: of this mess that he created. Now, there are some people, Emanuel,
- 4:50Speaker 1: which I would be totally opposed to this. There are
- 4:53Speaker 1: some people I saw Marjorie Taylor Greene was talking about,
- 4:57Speaker 1: and I hope this isn't accurate, and I hope it's wrong,
- 5:01Speaker 1: that we would give Iran $ 300. Billion or– I think
- 5:07Speaker 1: it was billion or million.
- 5:08Speaker 4: I don't know. A huge sum of money.
- 5:11Speaker 1: It's either– it's got to be 300 billion that we
- 5:14Speaker 1: would give Iran $ 300 billion to rebuild.
- 5:15Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 5:18Speaker 1: And if that's the case, for example, what she was
- 5:21Speaker 1: saying is this war.
- 5:22Speaker 4: Cost us $ 2 billion a day.
- 5:24Speaker 5: A day.
- 5:26Speaker 4: Is what it cost us.
- 5:27Speaker 1: And she's saying, and she doesn't, I don't think anyone
- 5:30Speaker 1: knows the details yet, but I would like to know
- 5:32Speaker 1: if this is when they come out, if we're giving
- 5:36Speaker 1: Iran $ 300 billion to rebuild their country for all the
- 5:40Speaker 1: damage that we did out of our taxpayer money. I
- 5:44Speaker 1: don't care if they get whatever sum of money it
- 5:48Speaker 1: is of their money that we've been holding to rebuild
- 5:51Speaker 1: their country. I mean, I get the fact that their
- 5:53Speaker 1: money's been held, and I have no problem if they
- 5:57Speaker 1: would release a large sum of their money. I don't
- 5:59Speaker 1: know how much is involved in that for them to
- 6:01Speaker 1: be able to rebuild their country. But I would be 100%.
- 6:06Speaker 1: Opposed to any deal that says we're going to give
- 6:09Speaker 1: you $ 300 billion of American taxpayer dollars to rebuild your country.
- 6:15Speaker 1: And Marjorie Taylor Greene was saying that, I don't know how,
- 6:18Speaker 1: if she knows or not, speculating or not, that that's part.
- 6:22Speaker 4: Of the agreement.
- 6:23Speaker 1: If that is part of the agreement, then I think
- 6:25Speaker 1: Trump got taken. Under no circumstances should we give our
- 6:30Speaker 1: tax dollars to.
- 6:31Speaker 4: Rebuild their country at all.
- 6:34Speaker 1: And as I understand it, they would release some of
- 6:36Speaker 1: the money that is held if they meet certain criteria.
- 6:40Speaker 4: And I.
- 6:43Speaker 1: Don't know enough about the deal to even say where
- 6:46Speaker 1: it is. And the only thing I would agree with
- 6:49Speaker 1: you on, it would seem to me. that if it's
- 6:52Speaker 1: a slam-dunk deal, we would know the terms of it
- 6:55Speaker 1: by now, don't you think?
- 6:56Speaker 4: I mean, they'd be saying..
- 6:57Speaker 2: No, no, no, because Donald Trump wants to be out
- 7:03Speaker 2: in front. You have to do these things without Donald
- 7:06Speaker 2: Trump knowing about it. Now, what I'm trying to ask you,
- 7:10Speaker 2: I don't think you've ever lied to me over all
- 7:11Speaker 2: these decades, right?
- 7:13Speaker 4: Well, there was..
- 7:13Speaker 2: Don't you think?
- 7:14Speaker 4: There was at one time.
- 7:16Speaker 5: Okay.
- 7:17Speaker 2: Don't tell nobody about it.
- 7:18Speaker 6: Okay.
- 7:18Speaker 4: Okay.
- 7:19Speaker 2: Now, don't you think if Donald Trump has a victory, right,
- 7:25Speaker 2: and this was such a great deal, he would have
- 7:27Speaker 2: been talking about it on Truth Social? He's treating this
- 7:31Speaker 2: like he did the Epstein file.
- 7:32Speaker 4: Yeah, yes.
- 7:35Speaker 1: Do I find it strange that we don't have the
- 7:38Speaker 1: details of this great deal?
- 7:39Speaker 5: Yes.
- 7:41Speaker 4: Yes, I mean..
- 7:42Speaker 2: Well, because he didn't make the deal. The same people
- 7:45Speaker 2: that made the deal there with Obama are the same people,
- 7:49Speaker 2: France and all those people, right? Well, I don't know.
- 7:55Speaker 4: I don't know who made the deal.
- 7:56Speaker 1: I can't even speculate on who made the deal, but
- 7:59Speaker 1: I do know who has the final say-so on the deal.
- 8:02Speaker 1: I mean, obviously Trump can say we're going to do
- 8:05Speaker 1: it or we're not going to do it. He ultimately
- 8:09Speaker 1: has the final say-so on whether or not we agree
- 8:11Speaker 1: or disagree with it. But I'm going to tell you again,
- 8:13Speaker 1: I'm going to go right back to what I was
- 8:15Speaker 1: saying to you. I believe Trump's back is up against
- 8:18Speaker 1: the wall. I believe he's saying, go back to it.
- 8:22Speaker 1: I think he thought this would be over much sooner
- 8:25Speaker 1: than it is. I think that he thought Iran would
- 8:29Speaker 1: cave and they did not.
- 8:31Speaker 5: And..
- 8:33Speaker 4: He's got a big problem.
- 8:35Speaker 1: This cannot go on for the United States much longer,
- 8:38Speaker 1: or it will be an economic disaster, I think, for
- 8:41Speaker 1: this country.
- 8:43Speaker 4: An economic disaster. I got one more question.
- 8:47Speaker 1: This move was wrong from the very beginning. And I'm
- 8:51Speaker 1: going to be curious what the details of this are.
- 8:55Speaker 1: If you're asking me, do I find it odd that
- 8:57Speaker 1: the details aren't out there?
- 8:59Speaker 2: That's not what I'm asking you.
- 9:02Speaker 7: Go ahead.
- 9:02Speaker 2: I'm asking because I'm confused.
- 9:05Speaker 4: Well, I'm here for you.
- 9:07Speaker 2: Just what the heck is a memorandum of understanding? And
- 9:11Speaker 2: is it the same thing as a deal or a contract?
- 9:13Speaker 4: Yeah, it's a preliminary of the deal. So it's not
- 9:18Speaker 4: a deal, right? I don't know.
- 9:20Speaker 1: I guess you could say it's a deal until it's
- 9:24Speaker 1: a memorandum of understanding is exactly that. We agree to this.
- 9:27Speaker 1: They agree to that. And then J.D. Vance goes and
- 9:32Speaker 1: represents a country when it's the official signing or whatever.
- 9:35Speaker 1: But I was told that it was DocuSigned, electronically signed already.
- 9:39Speaker 5: It was.
- 9:41Speaker 2: But, see, the thing about it is, like I'm trying
- 9:43Speaker 2: to say, if Trump was involved in doing this right,
- 9:46Speaker 2: he would be telling you everything that he's doing. Because
- 9:48Speaker 2: Trump is the type of guy, and, well, I've got
- 9:50Speaker 2: to tell you this with Obama.
- 9:51Speaker 4: Well, let me ask you this. Let me back up.
- 9:54Speaker 1: You're basically saying that you don't think it's a slam-dunk deal.
- 9:58Speaker 4: Remember when Trump was..
- 10:00Speaker 1: Saying when this is going on, we won't accept anything
- 10:02Speaker 1: short of unconditional surrender.
- 10:04Speaker 4: Remember when he was saying that?
- 10:05Speaker 2: Oh, regime change.
- 10:08Speaker 1: Yeah, regime change, unconditional surrender. All of that stuff's been
- 10:12Speaker 1: thrown out with the wash. I mean, you know, it's
- 10:15Speaker 1: like unless we have all of this kind of stuff.
- 10:18Speaker 1: So now we're at a point where What is the
- 10:21Speaker 1: details of it? Is the Strait open? And will there
- 10:25Speaker 1: be no tolls ever on the Strait?
- 10:27Speaker 4: Can I let.
- 10:29Speaker 2: You in on a secret?
- 10:30Speaker 4: Yeah. Qatar, right?
- 10:32Speaker 2: Qatar made a deal with Donald Trump and Iran, and
- 10:37Speaker 2: they paid Iran a whole bunch of money, and Qatar
- 10:39Speaker 2: has been sending their ships out with oil. People found
- 10:42Speaker 2: out about that. They're like, man, that's crazy. But the
- 10:46Speaker 2: bottom line is this, right? I don't think Trump is
- 10:48Speaker 2: going to let this end. I believe now I know
- 10:51Speaker 2: you don't believe this, but one of the Israeli Secret
- 10:56Speaker 2: Service guys, they're retired. He came on, said, listen, you know,
- 11:01Speaker 2: Netanyahu got something on Trump and he think it's Epstein.
- 11:04Speaker 2: So I don't know. But I just don't think it's
- 11:06Speaker 2: going to end. I just don't see Trump. If Trump
- 11:08Speaker 2: can't be the leader, if he can't be the bully.
- 11:12Speaker 1: I don't think he can afford to let it go on, though.
- 11:14Speaker 1: I mean, if you're asking me, do I think Netanyahu
- 11:18Speaker 1: will be pissed at Trump if we do this agreement
- 11:22Speaker 1: and bail? Probably so. But that's Israel's agenda to deal with.
- 11:29Speaker 4: I believe Israel. Do you believe this?
- 11:31Speaker 1: Do you believe that Netanyahu and Israel got Trump to
- 11:35Speaker 1: reverse himself and get involved in this in the first place?
- 11:39Speaker 5: Yes.
- 11:39Speaker 4: All right. So do you believe this was a mistake
- 11:42Speaker 4: from the very beginning?
- 11:44Speaker 8: Yes.
- 11:45Speaker 1: And so then do you believe that this agreement or
- 11:48Speaker 1: memorandum of understanding is not going to be unconditional surrender
- 11:53Speaker 1: or any of the other nonsense that he was talking about?
- 11:56Speaker 2: No, there's going to be more bombs flying around. You
- 11:58Speaker 2: heard it here. It ain't over with.
- 12:00Speaker 4: So what do you mean? You think that he's not
- 12:02Speaker 4: going to go along with it, Trump?
- 12:05Speaker 5: No.
- 12:06Speaker 2: Listen, they already set up J.D. Vance as the fall guy.
- 12:09Speaker 2: Just listen to South Carolina, right? You know, Lindsey Graham,
- 12:15Speaker 2: Linda Graham, whatever her name is.
- 12:17Speaker 4: It's not Linda. Well, it could be. I may be cross-dressing,
- 12:20Speaker 4: but it's supposedly Lindsey Graham.
- 12:22Speaker 2: But they're going after J.D.
- 12:24Speaker 4: Vance, right?
- 12:25Speaker 2: They're saying that J.D. Vance made this deal, and J.D.
- 12:28Speaker 2: Vance couldn't have made the deal because they said a
- 12:32Speaker 2: month ago that they don't want to talk to J.D.,
- 12:33Speaker 2: they don't want to talk to Jared, they don't want
- 12:35Speaker 2: to talk to none of those people. Remember they said that?
- 12:37Speaker 5: Yep.
- 12:38Speaker 2: So if they're not talking to him, how can he
- 12:39Speaker 2: make the deal?
- 12:41Speaker 4: I don't know. Maybe they're talking to Rubio.
- 12:44Speaker 2: So Trump's going to say he's going to blame it
- 12:47Speaker 2: on Rubio showed up at the airport and nobody met
- 12:51Speaker 2: him there. He's looking around like, I don't get nobody here. Listen,
- 12:54Speaker 2: the United States has been single out. They've been like
- 12:58Speaker 2: a cuddle horse. They've been colored from the dog on
- 13:01Speaker 2: a herd. You know how a horse gets in there
- 13:04Speaker 2: and gets a cuddle away from the herd? Well, that's
- 13:06Speaker 2: what happened to Donald Trump. And that's the only way
- 13:08Speaker 2: you can deal with this guy. But I've got to
- 13:09Speaker 2: tell you this, what Obama said, right, which is true.
- 13:13Speaker 1: I saw Obama said that he'd be surprised if it's
- 13:16Speaker 1: any different than the deal that they.
- 13:17Speaker 4: Had in place.
- 13:19Speaker 2: Yeah, he'd be surprised if it's that good. He'd think
- 13:22Speaker 2: it's going to be worse. But he said the days
- 13:24Speaker 2: of bullying people and bombing people and submission are over with.
- 13:30Speaker 2: And that's Donald Trump.
- 13:31Speaker 5: He's a bully.
- 13:33Speaker 2: But he's our bully. He got elected legally, right?
- 13:37Speaker 4: You better hope it.
- 13:39Speaker 1: Listen, as an American, you better hope it's a decent
- 13:42Speaker 1: enough deal that we can put this behind us.
- 13:45Speaker 2: As an American, I can't wait to vote.
- 13:48Speaker 4: Love you, man. All right, see you. You're on the air.
- 13:52Speaker 3: Hey, Ron, remember when John Arnold told you never listen
- 13:58Speaker 3: to a nonprofessional? That caller that just told you I
- 14:03Speaker 3: was wrong that SpaceX is non-marginable. He does not know
- 14:09Speaker 3: what he is talking about. I could have short-sold SpaceX
- 14:14Speaker 3: yesterday if I had wanted to because I have a
- 14:18Speaker 3: margin account. But as you were talking to him, I
- 14:22Speaker 3: checked with the margin department and my mutual fund company,
- 14:25Speaker 3: and they said, yes, I can sell SpaceX short. Now,
- 14:30Speaker 3: SpaceX just overtook Amazon to become the fifth largest company
- 14:36Speaker 3: in the world, and is very close to overtaking Microsoft
- 14:40Speaker 3: as the fourth largest. And yesterday, when the market closed,
- 14:45Speaker 3: Musk's net worth went from $ 1. 75 trillion to $ 2. 1 trillion,
- 14:53Speaker 3: just on SpaceX's capitalization alone. And that Other caller also
- 15:00Speaker 3: said that when oil prices come down, inflation will come down.
- 15:05Speaker 3: He was wrong again. Inflation will come down if Kevin
- 15:10Speaker 3: Warsh contracts the money supply like Paul Volcker did. Rising
- 15:16Speaker 3: interest rates do not reduce inflation, Ron. Contracting the money
- 15:21Speaker 3: supply is the cause of deflation, and rising interest rates
- 15:26Speaker 3: are the effect.
- 15:27Speaker 4: Well, no, I mean, pause for a second. I disagree
- 15:31Speaker 4: with both of those, and I'd be curious your reaction
- 15:33Speaker 4: to it.
- 15:34Speaker 1: The point of when they raise interest rates, it's to
- 15:37Speaker 1: squash demand. So if we raise interest rates, it discourages
- 15:41Speaker 1: you from buying a house or discourages you from running
- 15:46Speaker 1: a credit card balance.
- 15:47Speaker 4: Stand by for me. Just stand by. I'll pick it
- 15:49Speaker 4: up with you after the break. News Radio 570 WKBN.
- 15:51Speaker 5: 570 WKBN.
- 15:51Speaker 1: Let me go back and... Let me just take on
- 15:57Speaker 1: two things that you said when it comes to inflation.
- 16:00Speaker 1: When you said lower oil prices doesn't reduce inflation. And
- 16:05Speaker 1: I'll say again, yes, it does. Because those costs are
- 16:10Speaker 1: all passed on to the cost of the product. If
- 16:14Speaker 1: it costs more to truck a product, if it costs
- 16:17Speaker 1: more for the farmer to fill the tractor, the costs
- 16:19Speaker 1: are passed on. If it costs more to truck it
- 16:21Speaker 1: to the store, the costs are passed on. Gas prices
- 16:25Speaker 1: increase in prices that people are charging for things. Energy
- 16:30Speaker 1: costs do create an increased price, if you will. And
- 16:34Speaker 1: in addition to what you were saying, interest rates, the
- 16:38Speaker 1: whole point of if you raise interest rates, to get
- 16:41Speaker 1: rid of inflation is to squelch demand because you don't
- 16:47Speaker 1: buy a house because the loan's too high or your
- 16:52Speaker 1: interest rate on your credit card. That's why they raise
- 16:55Speaker 1: interest rates to lower demand, which lowers prices and inflation.
- 17:01Speaker 1: and energy costs are passed on as well. That would
- 17:05Speaker 1: be my disagreement with what you're saying. And I'm not
- 17:07Speaker 1: saying that government policy also doesn't create inflation, because it
- 17:11Speaker 1: does as far as printing more money and that kind
- 17:14Speaker 1: of stuff. But there's more than one factor to creating inflation.
- 17:20Speaker 3: Well, Ron, when you say they increase interest rates, the
- 17:25Speaker 3: Federal Reserve controls short-term interest rates. The free market controls
- 17:32Speaker 3: long-term interest rates. So you are absolutely correct. When long-term
- 17:37Speaker 3: interest rates go up, it's more expensive to get a mortgage.
- 17:42Speaker 3: It's likely that fewer houses will be sold.
- 17:46Speaker 5: Right.
- 17:46Speaker 4: I'm not saying... Was it Volcker? You would remember that.
- 17:50Speaker 1: You do that and you can actually cause a recession
- 17:52Speaker 1: because it squelches demand so much that people start losing
- 17:58Speaker 1: their job because there's no demand.
- 18:00Speaker 3: Yeah, he did cause a recession because the prime rate
- 18:03Speaker 3: went up to 21.5%. And that was only for top
- 18:09Speaker 3: quality corporate borrowers. The average person that had a good
- 18:14Speaker 3: credit card... If they had perfect day one credit, they
- 18:17Speaker 3: were paying 30% on their credit cards back then.
- 18:21Speaker 4: Yeah, I don't know.
- 18:22Speaker 1: Like the guy that Trump replaced, what was his name
- 18:25Speaker 1: and was running a Fed?
- 18:27Speaker 4: I can't remember. It escapes me right now.
- 18:29Speaker 3: Jerome Powell.
- 18:30Speaker 1: Jerome Powell. I don't think Jerome Powell was an idiot.
- 18:34Speaker 1: I disagreed with Trump and everything. I actually thought he
- 18:37Speaker 1: did a pretty decent job at running the Fed because
- 18:40Speaker 1: we didn't have a major recession yet. They always talked
- 18:45Speaker 1: about soft landings. Well, I think that his stewardship was good,
- 18:53Speaker 1: not bad, as far as running the Fed. But he
- 18:58Speaker 1: didn't kowtow to Trump and do what Trump wanted him
- 19:00Speaker 1: to do, and that's why Trump wanted to replace him.
- 19:02Speaker 1: I don't think he was a bad Fed chairman.
- 19:07Speaker 3: Well, I'm going to disagree with that other caller that said,
- 19:10Speaker 3: I can't short sell SpaceX.
- 19:13Speaker 7: He says the.
- 19:13Speaker 3: Economy is doing good. Well, yeah, if you're rich, the
- 19:17Speaker 3: economy is doing great. But the average person can't make
- 19:21Speaker 3: ends meet. I mean, credit card defaults are increasing. Yeah,
- 19:28Speaker 3: unemployment may have went up recently, but I think the
- 19:33Speaker 3: government's budging the numbers.
- 19:35Speaker 5: That's because most people are getting to..
- 19:39Speaker 3: To part-time job right or if you're on employment runs
- 19:42Speaker 3: out after this six months then they no longer count
- 19:46Speaker 3: you as unemployed.
- 19:47Speaker 1: Right I don't believe any of the government numbers, because
- 19:52Speaker 1: they're skewed for political purposes. I don't care if it's
- 19:54Speaker 1: Republicans or Democrats. I don't believe their inflation number. I
- 19:57Speaker 1: think it's always lower than it is, and I don't
- 20:00Speaker 1: believe the... employment or unemployment numbers at all. They're all skewed.
- 20:04Speaker 1: It frustrates the living hell out of me, because how
- 20:07Speaker 1: do you fix a problem, Frank, if you don't really
- 20:09Speaker 1: know how severe the problem is because of politics?
- 20:12Speaker 3: Well, as you have said many times before, they don't
- 20:17Speaker 3: include core inflation, which is food prices, and energy, and
- 20:22Speaker 3: that's what's going up the most.
- 20:24Speaker 4: Yeah, like you don't need energy, Frank, and food.
- 20:27Speaker 1: I was reading today, stand by for a minute, let
- 20:29Speaker 1: me do my headlines, I'll come back to him, and
- 20:31Speaker 1: I'll get to more of your calls. We're here until
- 20:33Speaker 1: 7 tonight, Ron Verb, NewsRadio 570, WKBN.
- 20:36Speaker 4: NewsRadio 570, WKBN. All right, 534, NewsRadio 570, WKBN. All right, Frank,
- 20:42Speaker 4: what were you saying?
- 20:45Speaker 3: Warships between Iraq in a hard place, Ron. If interest
- 20:51Speaker 3: on the national debt alone keeps rising, soon all tax
- 20:57Speaker 3: revenues will go just to pay interest on the national debt.
- 21:02Speaker 3: Forget Social Security, forget Medicare, forget everything.
- 21:06Speaker 1: Well, you would have to go up substantially because, as
- 21:09Speaker 1: I tell everybody, it's your second biggest expense just paying
- 21:12Speaker 1: the interest right now. I mean, it would have to
- 21:15Speaker 1: go up substantially to become the first expense, but that
- 21:18Speaker 1: doesn't mean it takes all of the money of your
- 21:20Speaker 1: tax dollars. It means the majority, it becomes your biggest
- 21:24Speaker 1: expense out of everything.
- 21:26Speaker 3: But I think interest expense on the national debt is what,
- 21:30Speaker 3: the third or second largest expense in the federal budget now?
- 21:34Speaker 4: Second, I thought it was.
- 21:35Speaker 3: Second largest, yeah, I believe you're right. Now, let me say,
- 21:41Speaker 3: I want to mention something about SpaceX?
- 21:44Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 21:45Speaker 3: JJ said nothing can travel faster than the speed of light. Well,
- 21:50Speaker 3: you know, when I started calling your show in the 90s,
- 21:54Speaker 3: I said, Ron, astrophysicists have been observing objects traveling in
- 22:00Speaker 3: space anywhere from 2 to 10 times the speed of light.
- 22:06Speaker 3: There's something out there traveling faster than the speed of light.
- 22:11Speaker 3: Are they extraterrestrials? I have no idea. But SpaceX is
- 22:17Speaker 3: an American aerospace manufacturer, and they're also a transportation services company.
- 22:25Speaker 3: Musk founded them in 2002 with the goal of reducing
- 22:29Speaker 3: space transportation costs because they want to colonize Mars and
- 22:37Speaker 3: to exploit its vast metal and mineral wealth at a
- 22:40Speaker 3: number of scientists believes exist on that planet planet now
- 22:46Speaker 3: if if they travel in rockets at conventional speed it
- 22:51Speaker 3: would take thirty years or more to get the mars
- 22:54Speaker 3: he would have to have people say in their forties
- 22:59Speaker 3: have children on their spaceship because by the time they
- 23:03Speaker 3: get the mars are going to be like seventy years
- 23:05Speaker 3: old must see you should.
- 23:06Speaker 1: Have left how long ago that frank You're right. Listen,
- 23:11Speaker 1: did you buy any SpaceX?
- 23:12Speaker 4: Yes?
- 23:13Speaker 1: No?
- 23:14Speaker 3: No, I didn't buy any SpaceX at all.
- 23:17Speaker 4: Are you going to?
- 23:20Speaker 3: Well, I'm not sure yet, but..
- 23:22Speaker 4: Well, let me know.
- 23:23Speaker 1: I mean, if you buy the stock, what is it,
- 23:26Speaker 1: like $ 200 or something like that? I'll be curious if
- 23:29Speaker 1: you purchase any. It seems to me like it's one
- 23:32Speaker 1: of those that you'd want to buy and hold, in
- 23:35Speaker 1: my opinion.
- 23:35Speaker 4: But that's my opinion.
- 23:37Speaker 3: Yeah, that's true, but... It's probably overvalued right now. But
- 23:42Speaker 3: what about the long term?
- 23:45Speaker 1: When you say overvalued, is it the next, for example,
- 23:48Speaker 1: there's people kicking themselves in the arse that they didn't
- 23:50Speaker 1: buy Amazon back when it started, or Tesla and that
- 23:53Speaker 1: kind of stuff, and look what it's valued at today,
- 23:56Speaker 1: or NVIDIA.
- 23:58Speaker 3: Well, Ron, the entire market is overvalued. The PE ratio
- 24:03Speaker 3: on the S & P 500 is now... 40 to one.
- 24:07Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 24:08Speaker 3: Remember the.com bubble when everything crashed in 2000, the PE
- 24:13Speaker 3: ratio was 33 and a half to one back then.
- 24:16Speaker 3: And everybody thought that that was outrageous. We're in uncharted
- 24:21Speaker 3: territory now.
- 24:22Speaker 4: Right.
- 24:22Speaker 1: Oh, I don't, I don't disagree with that, but I
- 24:24Speaker 1: will say with the other caller, that guy's made a
- 24:27Speaker 1: gazillion dollars, but he's not, he's, he's all in on
- 24:31Speaker 1: AI stuff. And, uh, and, uh, He's got a very
- 24:35Speaker 1: narrow portfolio, and he's done quite well over many, many
- 24:38Speaker 1: years on it. And I think AI is going to
- 24:40Speaker 1: be the future, whether people like it or not. If
- 24:43Speaker 1: you made the right decisions, as some of you guys
- 24:46Speaker 1: have done years ago, they made big money.
- 24:49Speaker 4: Well, what did they say?
- 24:50Speaker 1: Musk made a lot of people millionaires who worked for
- 24:54Speaker 1: his company just in putting.
- 24:56Speaker 4: His stock out.
- 24:57Speaker 3: Let me ask you a question, because I know you've
- 25:00Speaker 3: been teaching yourself about Tank bottom and oil prices.
- 25:05Speaker 4: I'm now an oil guru. Aren't you impressed?
- 25:10Speaker 3: Do you remember in 2000 when I called your, well,
- 25:14Speaker 3: you probably don't remember, but the dot-com bubble, okay? I
- 25:18Speaker 3: said that during these bubbles from what I know from
- 25:24Speaker 3: studying investment history, that 90% of those dot-com companies would
- 25:29Speaker 3: go bust and go bankrupt. Do you think that with
- 25:33Speaker 3: AI stocks it's going to be the same thing? 90%
- 25:37Speaker 3: of them might end up going bankrupt and only 10%
- 25:41Speaker 3: might make it?
- 25:44Speaker 1: I think is there a possibility? Yes, I would say
- 25:47Speaker 1: there's a possibility of that.
- 25:49Speaker 3: You know, Warren Buffett years ago said, I stopped buying
- 25:55Speaker 3: technology stocks. You know why? He said, I can't pick technology.
- 26:00Speaker 3: the winners from the losers.
- 26:02Speaker 1: Well, yeah, but he, he often said he didn't buy
- 26:04Speaker 1: stuff that he didn't understand, but what did, uh, what did, uh,
- 26:10Speaker 1: what did that guy say about Buffett when that went
- 26:12Speaker 1: into sectors there? He was looking at Buffett at, at
- 26:15Speaker 1: that particular time. Listen, you know, NVIDIA is, is they're
- 26:19Speaker 1: talking about NVIDIA now doing stuff for, uh, consumer computers
- 26:24Speaker 1: and stuff. It seems NVIDIA is, is just growing as
- 26:27Speaker 1: far as consumers are concerned.
- 26:29Speaker 3: Uh, By the way, I didn't buy Amazon when it
- 26:35Speaker 3: first came out because I don't think it went public
- 26:38Speaker 3: until 2015. Remember when Amazon first started?
- 26:43Speaker 4: Never made money.
- 26:43Speaker 3: They basically just sold albums, CDs, and books.
- 26:50Speaker 4: Yeah, but look at it today.
- 26:51Speaker 1: But as I said, it didn't make a profit for years.
- 26:56Speaker 1: Wouldn't you wish you had stock when it first came out?
- 26:59Speaker 1: And then that AWS is a large part of Amazon
- 27:02Speaker 1: Web Services, makes a ton of money. I mean, from
- 27:06Speaker 1: the government and all private sector business, that's huge.
- 27:09Speaker 4: That's huge. All right, buddy. Appreciate it. Thank you. You're
- 27:14Speaker 4: on the air.
- 27:16Speaker 5: Well, Ron.
- 27:18Speaker 2: Hello.
- 27:18Speaker 5: Hello. Yes.
- 27:20Speaker 4: Yes, sir.
- 27:21Speaker 5: Yeah, I just heard on your news article, your local news,
- 27:25Speaker 5: Iran says if Israel forces stay in Lebanon, it's a
- 27:29Speaker 5: violation of the deal. And I got a news article
- 27:32Speaker 5: today that says just that. Israeli ministers say Israel is
- 27:35Speaker 5: bound by the U.S.-Iran deal, won't withdraw from Lebanon. Iran
- 27:41Speaker 5: reaffirmed that any deal with U.S. hinges on an end
- 27:44Speaker 5: to Israel's war in Lebanon. And Israel's defense minister, Israel Katz,
- 27:49Speaker 5: vowed that the Israeli defense force will not withdraw from
- 27:53Speaker 5: the so-called security borders in Lebanon, which include a major
- 27:58Speaker 5: swath of Lebanese territory, and where they also continue their
- 28:02Speaker 5: occupation in Syria and Gaza. So it's going to be
- 28:06Speaker 5: debatable if this deal even goes through.
- 28:09Speaker 1: There's no question in my mind, and I would ask
- 28:11Speaker 1: this of you, that Israel would love to see this
- 28:14Speaker 1: deal resolved.
- 28:16Speaker 4: Disappear because.
- 28:20Speaker 1: It appears to me, and I would ask you this,
- 28:22Speaker 1: it appears to me Trump knows his back's up against
- 28:24Speaker 1: the wall and he wants to get out of this.
- 28:26Speaker 1: And Israel doesn't want us to leave and get out
- 28:28Speaker 1: of it. They want us to stay and do their agenda.
- 28:32Speaker 1: And if they can nix the deal, I think they'll
- 28:36Speaker 1: try to nix the deal.
- 28:38Speaker 5: I agree. I agree with that. They don't go for
- 28:41Speaker 5: the deal at all.
- 28:42Speaker 1: But, I mean, the bottom line is we've got to say, listen,
- 28:45Speaker 1: then if you're going to continue this, I really think
- 28:48Speaker 1: at that point we, the United States, have to say, well,
- 28:51Speaker 1: you're on your own then because we're done here. You're
- 28:54Speaker 1: not going to tell the United States what deal we
- 28:56Speaker 1: can agree or disagree to or tell the citizens of
- 28:59Speaker 1: this country you continue to spend $ 2 billion a day
- 29:02Speaker 1: on this deal. war with Iran and continue to have
- 29:08Speaker 1: higher inflation, higher energy prices, and higher commodity prices. We're
- 29:14Speaker 1: just not going to do it. So we have a
- 29:16Speaker 1: lot of power over them, too, to pull out.
- 29:19Speaker 5: Yeah. They seem to have a lot of power on us, too.
- 29:24Speaker 1: Yeah, but it's probably in the beginning, but don't you
- 29:26Speaker 1: think at this point in time you can't stick this
- 29:30Speaker 1: out because of what it's going.
- 29:31Speaker 4: To do economically?
- 29:32Speaker 5: Yeah, I agree. We'll wait and see.
- 29:36Speaker 4: I'm with you. I'm 100% with you.
- 29:38Speaker 1: I'll be happy when it's... J.D. Vance, when it's signed
- 29:45Speaker 1: and everything is, we're done and see you later.
- 29:50Speaker 4: I mean, $ 2 billion a day.
- 29:52Speaker 1: Did you hear anything more about what that Marjorie Taylor
- 29:54Speaker 1: Greene was saying? And I don't know where these people
- 29:57Speaker 1: come up with this stuff. That's why I put the
- 29:58Speaker 1: caution light on that part of this agreement has given
- 30:02Speaker 1: them $ 300 billion to rebuild.
- 30:05Speaker 5: I didn't hear anything on that. I'm sure it's probably
- 30:08Speaker 5: totally true, but I don't know.
- 30:10Speaker 4: I certainly hope not.
- 30:12Speaker 1: I mean, when we're taking a look at Social Security
- 30:14Speaker 1: going belly up in seven or eight years or raising
- 30:17Speaker 1: the retirement age on Social Security, why on God's green
- 30:20Speaker 1: earth would we give Iran any of our tax dollars
- 30:23Speaker 1: to rebuild their country? I don't care if we give
- 30:25Speaker 1: them some of their money back, their money to rebuild
- 30:28Speaker 1: their country, but zero of our tax dollars should go
- 30:31Speaker 1: for it.
- 30:33Speaker 4: Agree?
- 30:33Speaker 5: Yeah. I agree. I got another article. Oil shortages are
- 30:37Speaker 5: the lowest since 1983.
- 30:39Speaker 4: Reserved.
- 30:41Speaker 5: Oil reserves.
- 30:42Speaker 1: That doesn't surprise me even. That doesn't surprise me at all.
- 30:46Speaker 1: Does it you? I mean, we got a serious problem
- 30:50Speaker 1: if this thing goes on. And that's why I say
- 30:52Speaker 1: Trump's back is against the wall when it comes to inflation,
- 30:55Speaker 1: when it comes to the oil reserves being depleted.
- 30:58Speaker 4: There aren't a lot of options right now.
- 31:00Speaker 5: We're in big trouble if this don't get solved soon.
- 31:03Speaker 4: I'm in total agreement with that. I'm in complete agreement.
- 31:07Speaker 5: It was reported even on your local news that Iran's
- 31:09Speaker 5: not going to sign a deal if Israel don't withdraw
- 31:12Speaker 5: from Lebanon. They got no intention of leaving Lebanon.
- 31:17Speaker 1: Then Trump's got to talk to them and tell them
- 31:20Speaker 1: this is the way it is because we're getting out.
- 31:23Speaker 4: I agree. I don't think Israel can go without the
- 31:28Speaker 4: United States, in my opinion.
- 31:31Speaker 5: I don't think they can either, especially if all the
- 31:34Speaker 5: Arabs unite.
- 31:36Speaker 4: Yeah, I mean, you've got to get out of this.
- 31:38Speaker 4: It's $ 2 billion a day.
- 31:40Speaker 1: You've really depleted in selling your missiles and a lot
- 31:49Speaker 1: of your military equipment to the Ukraine, and then you
- 31:52Speaker 1: use so much over here. What is your stockpile at
- 31:55Speaker 1: this point in time? Because you can't increase it overnight
- 31:59Speaker 1: with this high-tech stuff.
- 32:03Speaker 4: I think he created a mess.
- 32:05Speaker 5: I wanted to call in. Even your local news is
- 32:07Speaker 5: reporting it.
- 32:08Speaker 4: Well, let me know if you hear any more. I
- 32:10Speaker 4: appreciate it. That guy's always on top of things. You're
- 32:13Speaker 4: on the air.
- 32:14Speaker 5: It's Paul Rehn-Pinko.
- 32:16Speaker 4: You're on the air.
- 32:18Speaker 7: Hello, Ron. How are you?
- 32:19Speaker 4: I'm well, sir. Thank you.
- 32:23Speaker 7: There's $ 300 billion that they're talking about rebuilding. I think
- 32:27Speaker 7: Trump's in favor of it because his company is going
- 32:30Speaker 7: to be the one that does all the construction over there.
- 32:34Speaker 1: Well, if you think of that, I haven't thought of that.
- 32:37Speaker 1: I haven't read it officially yet. The only person I
- 32:39Speaker 1: heard this from was some Archie Taylor Greene. If it's true,
- 32:43Speaker 1: I don't care who's doing it. I'm against American tax
- 32:46Speaker 1: dollars going.
- 32:47Speaker 4: To rebuild it.
- 32:48Speaker 7: But Trump's going to do it just to pat his
- 32:51Speaker 7: own pocket.
- 32:52Speaker 4: Well, good luck with the fallback from that.
- 32:55Speaker 1: I mean, how would you assess it if you said, oh,
- 32:58Speaker 1: we reached an agreement, and I don't know, this is
- 33:01Speaker 1: fact or fiction, and we're going to give you $ 300
- 33:03Speaker 1: billion of our American tax dollars to rebuild all the
- 33:05Speaker 1: stuff we blew up?
- 33:07Speaker 7: I'm opposed to it, too.
- 33:08Speaker 4: Absolutely.
- 33:10Speaker 7: Oh, you talk about AI.
- 33:11Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 33:12Speaker 7: And I'm a person that uses AI. As you know,
- 33:17Speaker 7: I'm blind. And I have what's called metaglasses that The
- 33:22Speaker 7: AI helps me see what I'm looking at. And as
- 33:28Speaker 7: far as I'm concerned, AI is a great thing for me.
- 33:29Speaker 4: Now, does it work?
- 33:32Speaker 7: Yeah, it does. I'm wearing them right now.
- 33:34Speaker 1: So you put on Metaglass. When you say you're blind,
- 33:38Speaker 1: do you see just black or is it blurry?
- 33:41Speaker 7: No, I see a little bit of light, but I'm
- 33:43Speaker 7: not totally the black yet. I'm probably 80% dark.
- 33:50Speaker 4: What caused your blindness again? Remind me.
- 33:52Speaker 7: It's a genetic thing.
- 33:54Speaker 4: Okay. So when you put on the metaglasses, could you
- 33:58Speaker 4: watch television?
- 34:00Speaker 7: Yeah, they would tell me what's on the TV. Or,
- 34:02Speaker 7: for example, if I say, what am I looking at,
- 34:06Speaker 7: it will describe. I mean, I can't see the room,
- 34:09Speaker 7: but it will describe what I'm looking.
- 34:11Speaker 2: At in the room.
- 34:12Speaker 4: Oh, so you don't actually get a visual of it.
- 34:16Speaker 7: It doesn't give you vision, but it describes what you're
- 34:19Speaker 7: looking at.
- 34:20Speaker 4: So it would say there's a coffee table 10 feet ahead.
- 34:24Speaker 7: Yeah, or it would describe what kind of carpet you
- 34:28Speaker 7: have on the floor or what color your sofa is
- 34:32Speaker 7: or other things like that.
- 34:33Speaker 4: Now, how did you get these glasses? That's interesting.
- 34:36Speaker 7: I went up to, there's a place up in Mentor,
- 34:38Speaker 7: Ohio called Magnifiers and More. And that's where I bought,
- 34:43Speaker 7: she's an optometrist up there. I bought a lot of
- 34:46Speaker 7: my stuff from them. I have magnifiers and all this
- 34:48Speaker 7: other stuff that, Although you can buy them at Best Buy.
- 34:53Speaker 7: I didn't want to buy them at Best Buy because
- 34:55Speaker 7: they're connected with your phone. And I wanted somebody that
- 35:01Speaker 7: could help me connect it, and the Best Buy guys
- 35:03Speaker 7: don't do that. They just basically sell you, and you're
- 35:06Speaker 7: out the door. They don't give a damn about you.
- 35:09Speaker 4: Is it somewhat life-changing for you?
- 35:11Speaker 7: Oh, yeah, it has been life-changing for me because it will,
- 35:14Speaker 7: you know, It won't help me navigate where I'm going,
- 35:19Speaker 7: but it will tell me what I'm looking at when
- 35:23Speaker 7: I go there.
- 35:24Speaker 4: So I don't have to worry about passing you on
- 35:25Speaker 4: South Avenue tonight?
- 35:27Speaker 7: No, I don't drive.
- 35:28Speaker 4: No, I'm just teasing.
- 35:32Speaker 7: I haven't driven in about 20 years.
- 35:36Speaker 1: I mean, I wonder what the technology, like when they're
- 35:38Speaker 1: talking about Musk, where he's talking about perfecting this to
- 35:43Speaker 1: get people that are unable to walk.
- 35:46Speaker 5: To be able to walk.
- 35:47Speaker 7: It's called Project Blindsight. And I don't know that this
- 35:51Speaker 7: is it, but it might be. I'm not sure. But
- 35:55Speaker 7: it's a game changer for me.
- 35:57Speaker 1: I tell you, and it's interesting because anybody that's listening
- 36:02Speaker 1: that's ever had a cataract operation, And I had cataracts,
- 36:07Speaker 1: and I had them.
- 36:08Speaker 7: So did I.
- 36:09Speaker 1: Okay, so you want to know what's interesting is those
- 36:13Speaker 1: of you that have had cataract operations, those of you
- 36:15Speaker 1: who never have, there's no pain involved in it at all.
- 36:18Speaker 1: Everyone will get it if you live long enough. I
- 36:22Speaker 1: got it at a younger age because of sun exposure
- 36:25Speaker 1: and stuff like that. But as a result of it,
- 36:28Speaker 1: you know, you go in. that you lean back, they
- 36:31Speaker 1: actually tape your head down. You're awake, you know, because
- 36:34Speaker 1: you have to have your eyes open. You don't feel
- 36:36Speaker 1: any pain or any discomfort. This is hard for people
- 36:39Speaker 1: to imagine. And they actually, you know, cut into your eye.
- 36:42Speaker 1: You don't feel anything. But I remember you're looking up,
- 36:46Speaker 1: and when they take out your lens, because it's your
- 36:49Speaker 1: lens that is cloudy.
- 36:51Speaker 4: You follow me?
- 36:52Speaker 7: Yeah, that's right.
- 36:53Speaker 1: And when they suck that out, your vision in that
- 36:58Speaker 1: eye goes black, literally goes black. And then you wait
- 37:03Speaker 1: for them to put what's like contact lens, basically, into
- 37:07Speaker 1: your eye and expand it. And when they do that,
- 37:10Speaker 1: then if all goes well, you should be able to
- 37:13Speaker 1: see again. But I remember that moment when he pulled
- 37:16Speaker 1: out the cataract lens, you know, your natural lens that
- 37:19Speaker 1: went that way. And then when he put the contact
- 37:24Speaker 1: lens inside your eye, it was amazing. You were so
- 37:28Speaker 1: thankful to be able to get your vision back. Can
- 37:31Speaker 1: you imagine, Beck, if this would have been, Gene, like, what,
- 37:35Speaker 1: 50 years ago, you would have had to live your
- 37:38Speaker 1: life with cataracts, which is like looking through wax paper.
- 37:42Speaker 1: You know, everything's kind of blurry and not clear. I mean, technology,
- 37:46Speaker 1: somewhere with technology, they come up with, okay, we're going
- 37:48Speaker 1: to cut in your eye. We're going to suck the
- 37:49Speaker 1: lens out. We're going to put a contact lens in.
- 37:51Speaker 1: It automatically seals up. You're not going to feel any pain,
- 37:55Speaker 1: and you're going to have perfect vision again. It's incredible.
- 37:59Speaker 7: And I credit a lot of this to the space program, Ron,
- 38:03Speaker 7: from the time of John Kennedy.
- 38:06Speaker 4: I got a story for you.
- 38:07Speaker 7: Over the last 60 years, if you think about... I'm
- 38:10Speaker 7: going to..
- 38:11Speaker 1: Stand by for a minute. I got a story I
- 38:13Speaker 1: want to tell you on the air.
- 38:14Speaker 4: Hang on a minute.
- 38:15Speaker 1: I'm going to come back to you in a minute.
- 38:16Speaker 1: News Radio 570, Dodie Kevian. Stay tuned. Youngstown's news, weather,
- 38:23Speaker 1: and talk station, 570 WKBN. And Ron, Verb 556 here
- 38:28Speaker 1: on a Tuesday. What I was going to tell you, Gene,
- 38:30Speaker 1: there's two things I wanted to mention to you. When
- 38:33Speaker 1: you talk about the space program, and for everybody out
- 38:36Speaker 1: there that's ever had the procedure done to fix your
- 38:39Speaker 1: vision so you don't need glasses or contacts, LASIK or
- 38:42Speaker 1: whatever procedure you had done, that was not discovered by
- 38:47Speaker 1: the space program. I want all of you to understand
- 38:49Speaker 1: how that was discovered. All of you that said, hey,
- 38:51Speaker 1: I don't have to wear glasses or contacts and have
- 38:53Speaker 1: had that eye procedure done, that was discovered in Russia.
- 38:58Speaker 1: And it was discovered because a kid got in an
- 39:00Speaker 1: auto accident in Russia. and was driving in the car,
- 39:04Speaker 1: and the windshield busted in his face, in his eyes.
- 39:09Speaker 1: And when he was recovering and he opened his eyes,
- 39:15Speaker 1: he noticed he could see without the need of his glasses, okay?
- 39:20Speaker 1: Because when the windshield broke, it made some cuts in
- 39:25Speaker 1: his cornea, and it flattened the cornea, and he could
- 39:29Speaker 1: see fine. It's because of that auto accident that busted
- 39:34Speaker 1: that windshield in Russia that that, uh, that it was
- 39:37Speaker 1: discovered the LASIK procedure to fix your vision.
- 39:39Speaker 4: So you don't need glasses or contacts. And that's wonderful.
- 39:43Speaker 1: And here's my, here's my second thing I got for you.
- 39:46Speaker 1: Like I said, I've had, I've had cataracts in both
- 39:48Speaker 1: eyes at a younger age too.
- 39:50Speaker 4: And I said, well, why, why is this? You know, why,
- 39:53Speaker 4: why is this?
- 39:54Speaker 1: And they said, well, if you, and I never knew this,
- 39:57Speaker 1: like if you spent a lot of time in a
- 39:58Speaker 1: sun as a, as I did, uh, and still do as,
- 40:01Speaker 1: as a younger person and, uh, and what have you,
- 40:04Speaker 1: you should wear polarized sunglasses, not just polarized.
- 40:08Speaker 4: It helps prevent cataracts. They've got to be polarized.
- 40:11Speaker 1: And also, if you ever got hit in the eye,
- 40:14Speaker 1: if you've been hit in your eye, as I have,
- 40:17Speaker 1: as you would suspect, numerous times. But I've been hit
- 40:19Speaker 1: in my eye by baseball and stuff like that. That
- 40:23Speaker 1: also can cause.
- 40:24Speaker 7: I thought maybe one, two, three.
- 40:27Speaker 1: That was over the head with a frying pan. But
- 40:30Speaker 1: that can also give you cataracts. So if you're going
- 40:33Speaker 1: to be in the sun, make sure you wear polarized
- 40:35Speaker 1: sunglasses and sunscreen.
- 40:38Speaker 4: There's my eye tips.
- 40:39Speaker 1: But when you said the space program, I wanted you
- 40:42Speaker 1: to know how that was discovered because it was.
- 40:44Speaker 4: Like an accident and a fluke.
- 40:46Speaker 7: That's true, but the space program did have a lot
- 40:49Speaker 7: to do with the computers that we have and all
- 40:52Speaker 7: these people that don't think that it's worth money or
- 40:55Speaker 7: it's worth our time to go out and explore outer space.
- 41:00Speaker 7: I would be able to disagree with that because of
- 41:02Speaker 7: all the technology that has gone over the years.
- 41:09Speaker 6: From ABC News, I'm Michelle Franzen. Delaware police and emergency
- 41:14Speaker 6: crews on scene at Wilmington Hospital this hour following a shooting.
- 41:17Speaker 6: The hospital remains on lockdown. Wilmington Police Department Chief Administration
- 41:22Speaker 6: Officer David Karras.
- 41:23Speaker 5: Officers arriving have located two gunshot victims at this time.
- 41:27Speaker 5: Right now we're holding back on releasing their conditions until
- 41:29Speaker 5: families can be notified.
- 41:30Speaker 6: Law enforcement officials tell ABC News preliminary information indicates the
- 41:34Speaker 6: incident began when one hospital employee shot two other employees.
- 41:38Speaker 6: The alleged shooter may have been only a temporary employee.
- 41:41Speaker 6: The suspect said to be known to police who are
- 41:43Speaker 6: currently conducting a manhunt. A possible deal to end the
- 41:46Speaker 6: war with Iran set to be finalized this Friday that,
- 41:49Speaker 6: according to President Trump, terms of a memo of understanding
- 41:52Speaker 6: yet to be signed has not been made public. The
- 41:55Speaker 6: president at the G7 summit says the deal will reopen
- 41:57Speaker 6: the Strait of Hormuz and jumpstart nuclear talks. Democratic Senate
- 42:01Speaker 6: Minority Leader Chuck Schumer now calling for the president to
- 42:04Speaker 6: hold a classified briefing with the so-called Gang of Eight
- 42:06Speaker 6: lawmakers And then Americans.
- 42:08Speaker 8: Americans need to know how and when this war will
- 42:11Speaker 8: truly end. They need to know what's the deal on
- 42:15Speaker 8: the Strait of Hormuz. which has caused gas prices to
- 42:18Speaker 8: go through the roof.
- 42:19Speaker 6: Prices for oil beginning to drop. Gas prices also seeing
- 42:22Speaker 6: a dip. ABC's Elizabeth Schulze is in Bridgeport, Alabama, and
- 42:26Speaker 6: says it could take longer for prices at the pump
- 42:28Speaker 6: to stabilize.
- 42:29Speaker 9: The national average right at $ 4 a gallon, and GasBuddy
- 42:33Speaker 9: does expect that number could go down to $ 3. 75 by
- 42:36Speaker 9: the 4th of July if shipping does start to pick
- 42:39Speaker 9: up in the Strait of Hormuz on Friday. There are
- 42:41Speaker 9: still some big ifs there. One is that shipping companies
- 42:44Speaker 9: are still waiting for clarity on this deal, with the
- 42:47Speaker 9: ceasefire potentially expiring in 60 days.
- 42:49Speaker 6: The FBI announcing five people have been arrested in a
- 42:52Speaker 6: failed plot to attack UFC matches at the White House
- 42:55Speaker 6: last weekend. Sources tell ABC News the alleged plot involved
- 42:58Speaker 6: using drones packed with explosives. Authorities say nearly two dozen
- 43:03Speaker 6: people used signal chat to talk. You're listening to ABC News.
- 43:08Speaker 4: Hot stuff.
