style. The name Starsong 45 combined the name
• 2:03
of the Dutch band with the title of the song.
• 2:06
The formation was composed by a group of musicians
• 2:08
produced by Jaap Egermont. The Starsong 45 recreated
• 2:13
a collage of successful songs, joined together
• 2:15
by the same drum rhythm and a chorus composed
• 2:18
by the same Jaap Egermont and the arranger Martin

• 2:58
idea of Starson 45 came from Willem Van Kooten,
• 3:01
CEO of the Dutch label Red Bullet Productions.
• 3:05
It is said that he was inspired by an illegal
• 3:07
mix album entitled Let's Do It in the 80s Greatest
• 3:10
Hits, made by a group of Canadian disc jokers
• 3:12
called Passion. Just as Starson 45 would have
• 3:17
been, the collection of Canadian successes included
• 3:19
fragments of songs together in sequence. One
• 3:23
of them was Venus by the Shocking Blues, which
• 3:25
Willem Van Kooten to the rights of the world,
• 3:28
then inserted in the first album of the Dutch
• 3:30
band. An entire facade of the first album, called
• 3:32
the On Play Album, signed Stars from 45, is dedicated
• 3:36
to the Beatles songs, for this reason they looked
• 3:39
for voices similar to those of the Liverpool
• 3:40
quartet. The singer Boos Moogies was identified
• 3:44
for his vocal resemblance to John Lennon, while
• 3:47
for the voices of Paul McCartney and George Harrison
• 3:49
the choice fell on Hans Vermeulen and Occhi Who
• 3:53
Is Dance. The female voice belonged instead to
• 3:55
Jodie In the early 80s, in the absence of digital
• 3:58
technology, each song was cut individually and
• 4:02
then assembled in manual mode with the insertion
• 4:05
of the drum roll, also called clap track, since
• 4:08
it reminded the beat of the hands. Stars on 45
• 4:18
also holds the single record of song with the
• 4:21
longest title in the American Billboard ranking,
• 4:23
well 41 words. This is because for reasons of
• 4:26
copyright, after the medley, the production was
• 4:29
forced to include in the title entirely all the
• 4:31
songs of the Beatles and not only included in
• 4:34
the album, then called for convenience Stars
