- 0:00Speaker 1: Look at this motherfucker coming in here with tank tops
- 0:02Speaker 1: on all greased up? Is that grease or is that
- 0:05Speaker 1: your sweat greased up?
- 0:07Speaker 2: Don't act like I put oil on.
- 0:09Speaker 1: It looks like you're greasy. Man.
- 0:12Speaker 2: That's just a shimmer of sunlight coming off my shoulder muscle.
- 0:16Speaker 1: You greased up shoulders.
- 0:17Speaker 2: I didn't put grease on. I didn't want you to
- 0:20Speaker 2: stop saying that I put.
- 0:21Speaker 1: Grease is the word, baby, don't be mad.
- 0:24Speaker 2: I don't want you to think that. Right before the podcast,
- 0:26Speaker 2: I apply oil to my body.
- 0:29Speaker 1: Well, I mean they can see us now, so well.
- 0:32Speaker 2: They can see us. Eventually they're going to be able
- 0:35Speaker 2: to see all of it.
- 0:37Speaker 1: Whoa, I'm so scared.
- 0:39Speaker 2: Daniel is the only one in Joel with a really
- 0:42Speaker 2: great looking camera. My camera it doesn't look good. Look
- 0:45Speaker 2: at Look at how good Daniel's camera is. This is
- 0:46Speaker 2: what I'm telling you that like, like, we're trying to
- 0:48Speaker 2: make this show highly produced, and you and I still
- 0:51Speaker 2: have the old fucking camera from the monitor camera great too.
- 0:59Speaker 1: Now, yeah, that's what he said. He said, Joel got
- 1:01Speaker 1: the good camera down go the way.
- 1:03Speaker 2: I saw a new thing you and I might like.
- 1:05Speaker 2: I bought it and I thought we could test it
- 1:08Speaker 2: because one thing I don't like about having an external,
- 1:12Speaker 2: nicer camera is that I'm not looking at you guys.
- 1:15Speaker 2: So this is a thing I saw online that it's
- 1:18Speaker 2: it's a four K camera, but it sort of drops
- 1:21Speaker 2: down like the cord kind of like hangs over the
- 1:24Speaker 2: screen a bit. We're still looking at the people, but
- 1:28Speaker 2: it's a higher quality camera that comes in the in
- 1:32Speaker 2: the computer.
- 1:33Speaker 3: Sounds nice.
- 1:35Speaker 2: Yeah, I thought i'd try it out, and that way
- 1:36Speaker 2: Donald might be more apt to upgrade as well, because.
- 1:40Speaker 1: Well, I am going to the pet store today.
- 1:44Speaker 2: Exactly, going to upgrade your pets.
- 1:47Speaker 1: Yeah, while out, perhaps I could stop buy a best Buy.
- 1:50Speaker 3: Or a Oh okay, okay, I see like that.
- 1:53Speaker 2: Now this thing's on the interweb. Donald, I don't think
- 1:55Speaker 2: it's that best Buy, but I don't know. I'll try
- 1:58Speaker 2: it out and see if it looks as good as
- 1:59Speaker 2: Dan does. Because, as the audience knows, we were given
- 2:03Speaker 2: cameras as good as Daniel's, but you started using yours
- 2:06Speaker 2: for animation and seem reluctant to reset it up in
- 2:10Speaker 2: the podcast setting.
- 2:14Speaker 1: It was a little bit of a tricky setup. If
- 2:17Speaker 1: you recall how we had to set it up. There
- 2:19Speaker 1: was an HDMI cable involved, there was a different type
- 2:24Speaker 1: of setting on the camera, and you know my mental capacity,
- 2:28Speaker 1: it's just that's bandwidth, if I'm correct. I didn't have
- 2:32Speaker 1: it at the time and might not have it right now,
- 2:36Speaker 1: but eventually, because I know how important this podcast is, well.
- 2:41Speaker 2: We have to be clear with each other now that
- 2:42Speaker 2: we're going to be putting these on YouTube. Do we
- 2:44Speaker 2: want it to look good or not?
- 2:46Speaker 1: Because I definitely wanted to look good.
- 2:48Speaker 2: But the podcasts of people who take it seriously and
- 2:51Speaker 2: they're so beautifully shot. Now, granted most of those people
- 2:54Speaker 2: are in studios and they and they're in person with
- 2:57Speaker 2: their guests, and ours is all over zoom, but still
- 3:00Speaker 2: look at people and they have a nice camera, they
- 3:02Speaker 2: have nice lighting, they have a backdrop. I don't know
- 3:04Speaker 2: if we're ever going to get to that.
- 3:06Speaker 1: I don't know if we're good like that. Okay, well,
- 3:09Speaker 1: I don't know if that's our thing, you know what
- 3:11Speaker 1: I mean? I think our thing is this is our thing.
- 3:14Speaker 1: I mean, I think this is way more raw earth
- 3:16Speaker 1: than a big difference.
- 3:17Speaker 2: Donald. It's just about changing your camera to a camera
- 3:20Speaker 2: that looks as good as Daniel's.
- 3:22Speaker 1: I don't like Daniel's camera and I don't like Joel's camera.
- 3:25Speaker 1: I'm just gonna be honest with you, guys. I like
- 3:27Speaker 1: you to looks.
- 3:34Speaker 2: I don't have the bandwidth for this conversation. How are you?
- 3:38Speaker 2: How are you, Joel? You look very pretty today.
- 3:41Speaker 3: Thank you so much, Sach. That's very kind of you.
- 3:43Speaker 1: Guys. Up to what have you been doing? I've been animating.
- 3:47Speaker 1: I don't know about you. What have you been doing?
- 3:49Speaker 2: You know you've been animating. You post a lot, You've
- 3:52Speaker 2: been posting up a storm. I see on the Instagram
- 3:54Speaker 2: lots of.
- 3:55Speaker 1: Stories trying to get nice with it. But you know what,
- 3:59Speaker 1: I haven't up with lots of stories. It's just I
- 4:02Speaker 1: got nostalgic. All of a sudden. I went through my
- 4:04Speaker 1: Instagram for the first time, and I saw all of
- 4:07Speaker 1: these things, and I was like how many? In my head,
- 4:10Speaker 1: I was like, how many golf? There was a golf phase. Obviously,
- 4:13Speaker 1: I didn't realize my golf phase was that fucking big.
- 4:17Speaker 2: You really went deep on golf.
- 4:18Speaker 1: I went deep into golf, and it was so big
- 4:21Speaker 1: that after a while I was like, all right, this
- 4:23Speaker 1: might be way too many golf story posts for I
- 4:28Speaker 1: didn't know.
- 4:28Speaker 2: What is happening, because you really you put as many
- 4:31Speaker 2: posts up as one possibly could.
- 4:34Speaker 1: Yeah, and I thought maybe.
- 4:36Speaker 2: He's high and nostalgic. Was I right?
- 4:38Speaker 1: Somebody absolutely, somebody asked me, have you been hacked? He's like, no, no,
- 4:43Speaker 1: I'm good.
- 4:44Speaker 2: I know you well enough to know that you were
- 4:45Speaker 2: probably stoned.
- 4:46Speaker 1: And this out of my mind, out of my mind.
- 4:48Speaker 2: By the way, I ran into Seth Green and Breck
- 4:50Speaker 2: and Meyer, your buddies. Where'd you run into the Matson Nabel?
- 4:56Speaker 1: Would you? Motherfucker? You went to Austin Abel.
- 4:59Speaker 2: Yea Asinebo for those of you who don't live in
- 5:00Speaker 2: the Los Angeles area, is a really really good sushi restaurant.
- 5:04Speaker 2: And I went there and I saw them on a
- 5:06Speaker 2: double date together.
- 5:08Speaker 1: They were there with their wives.
- 5:10Speaker 2: Yeah, and they were. They didn't ask you, they didn't
- 5:12Speaker 2: invite you.
- 5:15Speaker 1: They know better. They know I don't go out.
- 5:17Speaker 2: They know that you don't leave your house to go
- 5:19Speaker 2: to restaurants.
- 5:20Speaker 1: I know. They were like, he's probably at home animated.
- 5:22Speaker 2: But I haven't seen Seth in a while, so it
- 5:23Speaker 2: was nice to see him and say.
- 5:24Speaker 1: Hello, Yeah, how's Housenebo? I haven't been Amazi if you.
- 5:28Speaker 2: Guys ever go there at Jowel or Daniel never been,
- 5:31Speaker 2: but no regretting it.
- 5:32Speaker 3: I haven't been there yet.
- 5:33Speaker 2: It's in the valley, it's the CBS Radford and it's
- 5:36Speaker 2: in a strip mom. And you wouldn't think that it
- 5:38Speaker 2: doesn't from the outside look like it's going to be
- 5:40Speaker 2: an amazing sushi restaurant, but it really is. It's one
- 5:43Speaker 2: of my favorites.
- 5:44Speaker 4: And I.
- 5:47Speaker 1: Used to go there all the time and I would
- 5:49Speaker 1: stand and wait because I would never have a reservation.
- 5:54Speaker 1: That used to be my jam.
- 5:56Speaker 2: Bill Lawrence introduced it to me.
- 5:58Speaker 1: Actually he introduced it to all of us. Actually, yeah,
- 6:01Speaker 1: early on in Scrubs too, really early on in Scrubs.
- 6:04Speaker 2: Yeah, well it's it was one of Bill's favorites too.
- 6:07Speaker 2: Were you gonna ask Standel, what was your bite of
- 6:09Speaker 2: the night? Oh, it's hard to say. They just do
- 6:13Speaker 2: they do. They do this blackened miso cod.
- 6:18Speaker 1: That was the first place I ever had that too.
- 6:20Speaker 1: I think, what is that crab roll? What is that
- 6:24Speaker 1: crab roll that comes with the tiny little crabs on
- 6:27Speaker 1: the plate and you can eat them like fried and
- 6:30Speaker 1: you can eat the whole crab itself like it's like
- 6:32Speaker 1: a little No, that shit is not. It's like a
- 6:35Speaker 1: little tiny baby crab and they fry that ship and
- 6:39Speaker 1: then you put that ship in your mouth and you're
- 6:41Speaker 1: eating a whole crab. Is delicious, I don't know.
- 6:42Speaker 2: But they also do these like lettuce cups of Chilean
- 6:46Speaker 2: sea bass. It's really really good if.
- 6:50Speaker 1: You're into if you're into raw fish or cooked fish.
- 6:54Speaker 2: They have everything.
- 6:55Speaker 1: From what I remember, Austin was amazing. I've been catched soup.
- 6:59Speaker 2: He used to have a Michelin star. Actually really, I
- 7:02Speaker 2: guess Michelin stars come out every year because they have
- 7:05Speaker 2: some plaques. They have plaques on the wall from having
- 7:08Speaker 2: Michelin Stars, but they're not the current year. But they
- 7:12Speaker 2: had one.
- 7:14Speaker 1: Interesting. I wonder there must be such a bummers.
- 7:17Speaker 2: You get a Michelin Star and you're so geeked and
- 7:18Speaker 2: then someone takes it away, Like what if we didn't
- 7:20Speaker 2: change anything?
- 7:22Speaker 1: Rest yearly? Is it a year?
- 7:24Speaker 3: It's a year the annual list that Michelin. Yes, the
- 7:27Speaker 3: tire company drops of their global favorite restaurants and stars
- 7:33Speaker 3: rank from one to three. And A joy of living
- 7:35Speaker 3: in the LA Area is we have so many. It's
- 7:39Speaker 3: one of my favorite pastime.
- 7:40Speaker 2: I think I read that the reasons. I always wondering
- 7:42Speaker 2: why is the tire company have this like mega list
- 7:45Speaker 2: of restaurants? And I think it began to inspire people
- 7:48Speaker 2: to travel and thus wear out their tires and try
- 7:53Speaker 2: new restaurants.
- 7:55Speaker 3: It's brilliant.
- 7:56Speaker 1: Yeah, I'm all for a Michelin star restaurant.
- 8:00Speaker 2: I'll tell yeah. Now, ones ones are rare, but like
- 8:03Speaker 2: they get more rare as you go up right, Like
- 8:05Speaker 2: a three is super rare.
- 8:06Speaker 1: Yes, yes, I want to eat at a three? Have
- 8:09Speaker 1: you ever eaten at a three?
- 8:10Speaker 2: I don't think I have ever eaten at a three?
- 8:13Speaker 2: Maybe I have? What's that? What's that? Super fancy restaurants like.
- 8:17Speaker 1: Uh mouthing and Noma. We're not even talking about the food.
- 8:22Speaker 2: What's her Name's famous female chef Joelle. Are you looking
- 8:26Speaker 2: it up?
- 8:26Speaker 3: I'm trying. Yeah, not Renee REEPI.
- 8:29Speaker 2: No, it's in like it's in like the Bay area,
- 8:33Speaker 2: And if you say the name, I'll know it. She's
- 8:35Speaker 2: a very famous female chef. I'm going to talk tomorrow
- 8:39Speaker 2: for Amanda's birthday.
- 8:40Speaker 3: No, that's exciting. Are you surprising? Amanda? Does she know
- 8:44Speaker 3: you're going to be there?
- 8:45Speaker 2: Amanda knows I'm going to be it's her birthday show
- 8:47Speaker 2: on the Talk they always make a big deal out
- 8:49Speaker 2: of that. And I'm going to go talk to Amanda
- 8:51Speaker 2: and give her love. And I'm going to plug the
- 8:53Speaker 2: French girl.
- 8:55Speaker 1: There's no time facts, real friends.
- 8:58Speaker 2: I'm gonna plug fake doctors, real friends.
- 9:01Speaker 1: Because we're rebranding people.
- 9:02Speaker 2: We're rebranding well, no, it's the same show. We're just
- 9:05Speaker 2: gonna run.
- 9:06Speaker 1: Out of the Scrubs episodes.
- 9:07Speaker 2: By the way, speaking of that, I have to say
- 9:10Speaker 2: that I'm shocked to say I laughed a lot watching
- 9:13Speaker 2: this episode.
- 9:13Speaker 1: Of course you did. Of course it's a funny one.
- 9:17Speaker 1: Of course I want to.
- 9:18Speaker 2: I just want to. I feel like I should eat
- 9:20Speaker 2: crow because I gotta tell the audience. I laughed a
- 9:23Speaker 2: lot watching this episode. And Joel wrote no notes that
- 9:26Speaker 2: Donald was very funny in this episode. I didn't know
- 9:29Speaker 2: why she didn't say I was really I'm.
- 9:30Speaker 3: Sorry, Zach, you were also very fun I highlight it's
- 9:32Speaker 3: a very funny.
- 9:33Speaker 2: Moment, Joelle. The note specifically said, and you know Donald's
- 9:37Speaker 2: means these I do. The note specifically said Donald is
- 9:40Speaker 2: very funny in this episode.
- 9:42Speaker 3: I was it was funny because usually you don't see
- 9:44Speaker 3: Donald as like a secondary character. It's a room just
- 9:47Speaker 3: constantly popping up and just landing joke after I was like,
- 9:50Speaker 3: this is so a new space for him and it's
- 9:52Speaker 3: very funny and I could have watched you just be
- 9:55Speaker 3: a teacher in the background for forever. Hilarious.
- 9:58Speaker 1: Thank you, Joel. I want to say something. I did
- 10:01Speaker 1: not think the show was funny at all. Controversy. I
- 10:07Speaker 1: like the fact, I like the fact that we're in
- 10:10Speaker 1: the show and stuff like that, but it just didn't.
- 10:13Speaker 1: It was like it just didn't connect. What the fuck
- 10:17Speaker 1: is Kelso doing at the bar? What the like? There's
- 10:19Speaker 1: just so many moments at the bar. What No, But
- 10:23Speaker 1: it just didn't It didn't make any I don't know, man,
- 10:26Speaker 1: it was also an alcoholic and he yeah, I know,
- 10:29Speaker 1: I'm sure you can piece it together logically and stuff
- 10:32Speaker 1: like that. It just seemed like everything was really convenient
- 10:35Speaker 1: in this episode. And I've seen this episode before with
- 10:40Speaker 1: you know, Sandy Chapman doing this character. It just seemed
- 10:44Speaker 1: like the same shit over again.
- 10:47Speaker 4: Uh.
- 10:47Speaker 1: And it's not like we got new people watching Scrubs,
- 10:51Speaker 1: So when rewid I've seen this episode maybe four times
- 10:55Speaker 1: now in the whole entirety and so in that and
- 10:58Speaker 1: saying that no disrespect to anybody in it and everybody.
- 11:02Speaker 1: It just seemed like the same show all right.
- 11:05Speaker 2: Well, much like the people that Joelle has debate at
- 11:07Speaker 2: the end of the show whether it's season nine is
- 11:09Speaker 2: good or not. We will get into it.
- 11:11Speaker 1: Stories that show we made about a bunch of dogs, said,
- 11:21Speaker 1: he's a stories new.
- 11:26Speaker 3: So YadA, YadA, all right.
- 11:35Speaker 2: One thing I noticed is that the show this is
- 11:38Speaker 2: for you film geeks out there, The show has moved
- 11:41Speaker 2: to video and to compensate, they've added this grain effect
- 11:45Speaker 2: to make it look like film. But it's way too much.
- 11:48Speaker 2: And for those of you who noticed that kind of thing,
- 11:52Speaker 2: this is like this was in the early stages of
- 11:54Speaker 2: HD video and they've really added a fake grain effect
- 11:58Speaker 2: to the whole show to make it seem like as
- 12:00Speaker 2: sixteen million film. Anyway, I noticed that for the first
- 12:03Speaker 2: time today. This is Season nine, Episode.
- 12:06Speaker 1: Two, directed by Mike McDonald.
- 12:08Speaker 2: Directed by Mike McDonald, who's a very funny man. So
- 12:13Speaker 2: Drew is forced to wear a number one at all
- 12:16Speaker 2: times on his chest because doctor Cox is obsessed with
- 12:20Speaker 2: embarrassing him, but also he decided to go all in
- 12:24Speaker 2: on Drew being his favorite intern.
- 12:27Speaker 1: Did it feel weird that doctor Cox still called JD.
- 12:31Speaker 1: Newby in the beginning.
- 12:34Speaker 2: No, I think that's a brand forever. He's been branded
- 12:36Speaker 2: that way forever. Okay, you didn't laugh when I say
- 12:40Speaker 2: you're dangerous? Aided you. But you listened to rap music.
- 12:43Speaker 1: I didn't.
- 12:46Speaker 2: Well, you did because he wrote it in your notes.
- 12:49Speaker 4: I liked it.
- 12:51Speaker 3: I did.
- 12:53Speaker 2: Yeah, Drew is dangerous. He listens to rap music. And
- 12:57Speaker 2: I noticed that the college is called Winston University after
- 13:00Speaker 2: Randall Winston. Did you notice that.
- 13:02Speaker 1: I was wondering what kind of college is this and
- 13:04Speaker 1: how and if there is? Like this is the thing
- 13:08Speaker 1: Scrubs went from totally believable to this ultimate fantasy world.
- 13:12Speaker 1: It seems like out of nowhere, and then all of
- 13:15Speaker 1: a sudden we're thrown into it. There is no college
- 13:18Speaker 1: like this in the history of colleges where you freaking
- 13:22Speaker 1: are in the classroom in the quad, and then you're
- 13:25Speaker 1: in the freaking and then you're in the hospital, a
- 13:28Speaker 1: working hospital. There's all on the same campus.
- 13:33Speaker 2: I don't know that that's accurate, Donald, I do think
- 13:35Speaker 2: that there are university.
- 13:37Speaker 1: Hospitals not like this, not like this rush.
- 13:40Speaker 3: Medical is like this. I will say, it all looks
- 13:42Speaker 3: like it's happening, if not in the same building. Very closed,
- 13:44Speaker 3: and I do think medical campus is going to be
- 13:46Speaker 3: more spread out.
- 13:48Speaker 2: UCLA is our closest example. THECLA hospital is within one
- 13:52Speaker 2: hundred yards of dorms and quads and classrooms.
- 13:57Speaker 1: It feels like a fantasy world. It doesn't feel like
- 14:00Speaker 1: medical school. It feels like even even inside the oar
- 14:06Speaker 1: like scrubs had this feeling of realistic and everything like that.
- 14:10Speaker 1: This feels glossed. This feels no nicer.
- 14:13Speaker 2: I mean, you're definitely switching from I think you're right,
- 14:17Speaker 2: and it's a lesson in in sets versus the real locations.
- 14:21Speaker 2: I mean, we were shooting in a real Rundown hospital
- 14:24Speaker 2: and now these are glossy sets and it feels modern
- 14:29Speaker 2: and new. It doesn't even feel like an old university.
- 14:31Speaker 2: It feels like a brand new university. Cole pushes a
- 14:35Speaker 2: guy's a patient's Legacide to sit on the bed and
- 14:39Speaker 2: hit on Joe because Cole has moved on from Lucy
- 14:42Speaker 2: and now he wants to get some of some of Denise.
- 14:47Speaker 1: Yeah, but Cole is sexually harassing. Yeah, absolutely on a
- 14:53Speaker 1: level that is like this dude could go to jail,
- 14:58Speaker 1: can you go? Can you go to can you get
- 15:00Speaker 1: locked up? For talking to people?
- 15:01Speaker 3: He could certainly be fired from or like go from
- 15:04Speaker 3: this program for especially harassing all these women, Like.
- 15:08Speaker 1: This is like next level harassing.
- 15:11Speaker 3: Is the picture alone last episode that could have been
- 15:13Speaker 3: a legal situation for sure?
- 15:17Speaker 2: And well he says to Denise the only way to
- 15:20Speaker 2: get rid of old King Cole is to sleep with
- 15:22Speaker 2: him until he gets bored with you.
- 15:25Speaker 1: What a dude show? Like even Joel is sitting there
- 15:28Speaker 1: like Joelle is sitting there like I want to kill him.
- 15:31Speaker 3: I hate Cole, which is a shame because I love
- 15:33Speaker 3: Dave Franco.
- 15:34Speaker 2: Like Dan such a good actor that you really you
- 15:39Speaker 2: really believe that he's this horrible person.
- 15:41Speaker 1: Yeah, he really does crush on this show.
- 15:43Speaker 4: Man.
- 15:43Speaker 1: He does a good job.
- 15:44Speaker 2: Man, he's so handsome, for God's sakes, he's a handsome man.
- 15:48Speaker 3: Definitely.
- 15:50Speaker 2: He really plays a jerk so well. He's like an
- 15:52Speaker 2: old school eighties movie villain.
- 15:55Speaker 1: Mm hmmm, who would that be like back in the
- 15:58Speaker 1: days the dude's name front that played Ultron Spader Spade.
- 16:05Speaker 2: I was thinking of, like in high school, movies like
- 16:07Speaker 2: you know, like.
- 16:08Speaker 1: Yeah, that's what I'm talking about. James Spader, Yes, Spader,
- 16:11Speaker 1: that's him. He was the ultimate dick in those movies
- 16:15Speaker 1: back in the day.
- 16:16Speaker 2: I look in and I see Turk teaching a class,
- 16:20Speaker 2: and Jad says, in this light, you look like Denzel looking.
- 16:24Speaker 1: At the Great Debaters.
- 16:25Speaker 2: I don't even know what the Great Debater's reference is.
- 16:27Speaker 1: It's a movie with I believe Kiky Palmer's in it is. Yeah,
- 16:32Speaker 1: it's a Denzel movie where he's a teacher and he's
- 16:35Speaker 1: teaching these kids how to debate. And I think it
- 16:39Speaker 1: might even be based on real events. Yes, real events.
- 16:42Speaker 3: Yes, this is classic black cinema. Every black person saw this.
- 16:46Speaker 1: Movie came out, This came out. I have to remember
- 16:49Speaker 1: the Titans too, like it was. This is when he
- 16:51Speaker 1: was in on his I'm gonna make history movies pretty
- 16:55Speaker 1: much like he was doing his thing and he and
- 16:57Speaker 1: it was all and he is going through it finding
- 17:01Speaker 1: young talent. I remember Denzel's tour of let's make historical
- 17:05Speaker 1: movies and bring out like there was the one where
- 17:08Speaker 1: he was the boxer and he goes to jail and
- 17:10Speaker 1: the young man is the one that fights to get
- 17:12Speaker 1: him out. And then there's the one Antoine Fisher's story.
- 17:16Speaker 1: There's this one of the great debaters, Remember the Titans.
- 17:19Speaker 1: I remember this moment in time where Denzel was doing
- 17:22Speaker 1: This is a nice ten year span and.
- 17:25Speaker 2: I never saw the movie. Does it? Does it hold up?
- 17:26Speaker 2: Is it a good movie?
- 17:27Speaker 1: It's a great fabulous and Kiky's fire in it too.
- 17:32Speaker 3: Man, Journey's Molette, isn't it? Who's alo fabulous?
- 17:36Speaker 1: Yeah?
- 17:36Speaker 3: Glenn Powell randomly has a roll in here really early
- 17:40Speaker 3: for him.
- 17:41Speaker 2: Oh, I'm gonna I'm gonna put that on my list.
- 17:43Speaker 2: The great debater. I didn't know. You know, I usually
- 17:45Speaker 2: know a Denzel reference. I didn't know this one.
- 17:48Speaker 1: Let's take a break.
- 17:48Speaker 2: We'll be right back after these fine words.
- 17:58Speaker 1: Joe's losing wood in the in the closet, I mean, and.
- 18:02Speaker 2: Denise says that she's losing wood because Drew isn't hooking
- 18:05Speaker 2: up with her fast enough. That's not a term I've
- 18:07Speaker 2: ever heard a woman say.
- 18:09Speaker 3: A woman say this.
- 18:11Speaker 1: Can a woman gain what?
- 18:16Speaker 3: Like?
- 18:16Speaker 1: This is a question ken? The like Ken does the clitoris?
- 18:22Speaker 1: Doesn't that get hard? Hard? When when the money and stimulated?
- 18:28Speaker 1: I think she was saying that her clitorius was dropping.
- 18:33Speaker 1: She who's to say Joe doesn't have a big clit clitoris.
- 18:36Speaker 3: She's probably just talking about her libido. I don't want
- 18:39Speaker 3: to talk.
- 18:39Speaker 1: But you don't think she was talking about the clitorius
- 18:44Speaker 1: going She was about her She was like, oh, my
- 18:48Speaker 1: clataorus is going down.
- 18:51Speaker 2: I think that meant that her libido was.
- 18:54Speaker 1: I think, why can't that be what it is? How
- 18:56Speaker 1: come that can't be what it is?
- 18:59Speaker 2: So a year freaks out during Donald's class and grabs
- 19:03Speaker 2: a kidney and runs out. And that's not even a fantasy.
- 19:06Speaker 2: I don't think.
- 19:08Speaker 1: No, that really happens. I guess, and Turk says, you
- 19:12Speaker 1: can't be running out of here with.
- 19:15Speaker 2: With kidneys kidneys. So the class hates that Cox has
- 19:20Speaker 2: a favorite student. That is true, and uh wow, Cox's
- 19:24Speaker 2: teaching is pretty wild. He's again talking about sexual harassment.
- 19:29Speaker 2: He's really really burning this u Nikki Wheelan, who plays
- 19:33Speaker 2: the very attractive Australian student. He's really really crushing her
- 19:37Speaker 2: in the in the class, saying that he lists the
- 19:41Speaker 2: things that he hates about her.
- 19:43Speaker 3: She was wild. He's a little out like he made.
- 19:46Speaker 3: He called Elliott Barbie a lot.
- 19:48Speaker 1: Well, he called JD girl's names too.
- 19:50Speaker 3: He did, he did. He did be like, you're too
- 19:53Speaker 3: attractive to ever be taken seriously as a doctor. What
- 19:56Speaker 3: is she supposed to do about that? That's just her face?
- 20:00Speaker 2: I know. It definitely felt like something that would not
- 20:03Speaker 2: be on television today. Him saying the things he says
- 20:06Speaker 2: to her.
- 20:07Speaker 1: Yeah, this is not that long ago too, That's the
- 20:09Speaker 1: crazy thing.
- 20:09Speaker 2: It's like, this is yeah, but we've had a very
- 20:12Speaker 2: big evolution since it was a big it was a buddy.
- 20:15Speaker 3: Years this, Joelle, I don't have twenty ten now.
- 20:18Speaker 2: Yeah, so we've had a big evolution in twelve sorry,
- 20:22Speaker 2: fourteen years. Fourteen years.
- 20:24Speaker 1: It feels like it's been twelve years, doesn't it. When
- 20:27Speaker 1: somebody says twenty years ago, don't you automatically go nineteen eighty?
- 20:31Speaker 2: Yeah, it's crazy. Yes, twenty years ago is two thousand
- 20:35Speaker 2: and four.
- 20:36Speaker 1: That's insane.
- 20:37Speaker 2: That's very insane, getting old Donald, Yeah, man, teach entertainment
- 20:45Speaker 2: made me laugh. I'm stuck up here.
- 20:47Speaker 1: I mean, listen, I did laugh at that.
- 20:49Speaker 2: Listen this whole sequence where JD's trying to teach from
- 20:52Speaker 2: the tree and he calls it teach entertainment and he
- 20:54Speaker 2: says tell Chirk, I'm stuck in the tree again, but
- 20:58Speaker 2: this time there appear to be many.
- 21:00Speaker 1: Yes, until the hospital campus security shows up, and then
- 21:05Speaker 1: I'm like, what fucking show is this? What are we doing?
- 21:08Speaker 2: They're trying to replace the janitor, obviously with.
- 21:13Speaker 1: A freaking dark, a tranquilized dart shooting security guard.
- 21:19Speaker 2: I didn't get this, Fox, Come on, come on, Fox.
- 21:25Speaker 2: And he says that he cuts the trunk with diet soda,
- 21:29Speaker 2: so it's not too strong.
- 21:31Speaker 1: Ridiculous, Arry, what the fuck happened? Dude? Like, come on yo.
- 21:38Speaker 1: In the words, in the words of Chris Rock and
- 21:41Speaker 1: Beverly Hills Cop two, what the fuck is this?
- 21:45Speaker 2: I think it's a broader it's a broader, cleaner digital
- 21:52Speaker 2: with added grain version, and this is meant to be
- 21:56Speaker 2: the janitor's replacement. Character characters, characters, and they're definitely they
- 22:03Speaker 2: have a trank gun. I mean, they're gonna shoot JD
- 22:06Speaker 2: out of the tree.
- 22:08Speaker 1: And we've never we haven't been introduced to these characters before.
- 22:11Speaker 1: They just automatically show up. Yeah, in the second episode
- 22:16Speaker 1: of season nine.
- 22:17Speaker 2: I think it was a bit of a hat on
- 22:18Speaker 2: a hat if you will. The one guy would have
- 22:21Speaker 2: been plenty. Wendell Middlebrooks plays the security guard. He has
- 22:25Speaker 2: passed away. He was a very funny man. I think
- 22:28Speaker 2: he was doing a huge campaign at the time, right.
- 22:30Speaker 1: Donald, Yeah, Miller high Life.
- 22:31Speaker 2: I'm sorry, Miller High Life. That's how we probably found
- 22:34Speaker 2: him now.
- 22:34Speaker 1: I think that came out after he was on Scrubs.
- 22:36Speaker 1: It was going at the same time. I remember we
- 22:39Speaker 1: aired and that aired at the same time, right around
- 22:42Speaker 1: the same time, which was.
- 22:44Speaker 2: Really a stand up or something you want will you
- 22:46Speaker 2: look that up? I wonder what his background was, but
- 22:48Speaker 2: he was very funny.
- 22:50Speaker 3: He's an actor and singer. Our younger viewers might remember
- 22:53Speaker 3: him from The Sweet Life on Deck h Yeah, he
- 22:58Speaker 3: was only thirty six when he passed.
- 22:59Speaker 1: That's greaty, he was very young. Yeah, he might have
- 23:02Speaker 1: been younger than us. That's the crazy thing.
- 23:05Speaker 2: I did laugh out loud when he said, come on,
- 23:07Speaker 2: little white baby, jump into my arms.
- 23:10Speaker 1: And then you jump into his arms and you're like,
- 23:13Speaker 1: it's like I'm being held by a big karml but
- 23:17Speaker 1: in the big caramel.
- 23:19Speaker 2: A giant piece of caramel or something. Yes, that sequence
- 23:22Speaker 2: was very broad but funny, and I like the idea
- 23:25Speaker 2: that when Chuk runs over He's like again.
- 23:28Speaker 1: Yeah, and then the new opening, new opening again. I'm sorry,
- 23:33Speaker 1: I just have upset. And at this moment in the show,
- 23:37Speaker 1: as I'm watching it, I was asking myself, what is this?
- 23:42Speaker 1: This is not what we did before. Obviously the tone
- 23:46Speaker 1: is off, but it doesn't necessarily have to be off,
- 23:49Speaker 1: But what is the tone? What are we trying to
- 23:52Speaker 1: establish here?
- 23:52Speaker 2: Definitely brought her. I mean even Carrie besha is playing
- 23:55Speaker 2: the straight moments constantly broad, you know. With JD obviously
- 24:02Speaker 2: I was could be super broad, but like I would
- 24:04Speaker 2: drop in and play real moments real I think carry's
- 24:07Speaker 2: playing and it's not her fault. It's just what was created.
- 24:10Speaker 2: She's playing a heightened reality at all times.
- 24:12Speaker 1: I think, right, well, because well the reality now is
- 24:16Speaker 1: very heightened also.
- 24:17Speaker 2: But yeah, she's just playing with the world that was
- 24:19Speaker 2: created for her. It's not it's not She's a wonderful
- 24:21Speaker 2: actress and I believe in Northwestern guys, which makes me
- 24:24Speaker 2: like her even more. But it's a heightened reality all times.
- 24:28Speaker 2: But Okay, I know I saw all the blackberries. Did
- 24:31Speaker 2: you see everyone's gett a BlackBerry? It's before iPhones.
- 24:34Speaker 1: I didn't reckon, I didn't I wasn't paying. I didn't
- 24:36Speaker 1: see that.
- 24:36Speaker 2: Well, whenever a Cox holds up his pictures of number
- 24:39Speaker 2: one that he's forced to on a BlackBerry. Yeah, so
- 24:44Speaker 2: Cole is at the ribbon cutting of the hospital. There's
- 24:47Speaker 2: a picture on the wall, and so he says, you know,
- 24:51Speaker 2: you can't do anything to me, Denise, my mom is
- 24:55Speaker 2: lactose in tali me laugh and he says that she's
- 25:02Speaker 2: my wing mom. Now, yeah, I had this really. I
- 25:04Speaker 2: thought that fucking wing mom fantasy was crazy and so funny.
- 25:08Speaker 2: I had this moment just laughing because I was like,
- 25:11Speaker 2: I don't remember that fantasy at all, shitting and it's
- 25:14Speaker 2: a very surreal experience to watch a fully produced, bizarre
- 25:18Speaker 2: fantasy of yourself that you have no memory of doing.
- 25:20Speaker 2: But Jad and Bed waiting for the wing the wing
- 25:23Speaker 2: mom to come in.
- 25:25Speaker 1: That made you laugh.
- 25:26Speaker 2: I giggled, Yeah, my hair, My hair was like slicked down.
- 25:30Speaker 1: Do you know what I giggled? I giggled at this.
- 25:33Speaker 2: I say, sing to me, wing mom, sing me to
- 25:37Speaker 2: my dreams.
- 25:41Speaker 3: It's so weird. It's like American Angels almost. I was
- 25:44Speaker 3: trying to catch if there was like a reference happening
- 25:46Speaker 3: get here. It was so strange.
- 25:48Speaker 2: You mean Angels in America.
- 25:49Speaker 3: Angels in America.
- 25:50Speaker 2: Yes, yes, yes, it wasn't. It wasn't that, but it was.
- 25:55Speaker 3: But just the scene where dudes in the bed and
- 25:58Speaker 3: the angel comes down is like hovering over him, especially
- 26:00Speaker 3: from that moment.
- 26:03Speaker 1: I'll say this to other. Fantasy made me laugh way
- 26:05Speaker 1: more than that fantasy made me laugh. The fantasy with
- 26:09Speaker 1: the Antonio Sobato.
- 26:10Speaker 2: Jumping the head. But that was very funny.
- 26:13Speaker 1: That was that was the highlight of the show for
- 26:15Speaker 1: me where I laughed my ass off. I was like, Wow,
- 26:18Speaker 1: that's that's fucking They found the level of cheese and
- 26:23Speaker 1: the level of of like it felt like a novel
- 26:27Speaker 1: right anyway, It was.
- 26:29Speaker 2: Supposed to be like a lifetime movie or meets a
- 26:32Speaker 2: romance novel novel. Yeah, yeah, And Antonio Spotto Junior was
- 26:36Speaker 2: very funny. He nailed it. Yeah, all right, we'll get
- 26:39Speaker 2: to that. We'll take a break, okay, so listen to
- 26:42Speaker 2: these commercials and we'll be right back with something funny.
- 26:46Speaker 4: We'll be back or there is no try.
- 27:03Speaker 2: Agreed, sounds exactly like him, I do. You're really good like.
- 27:07Speaker 1: That force is strong with that voice over anyway, So
- 27:13Speaker 1: let's get back to the show that everybody calls what
- 27:17Speaker 1: is this show called again?
- 27:19Speaker 2: Scrubs?
- 27:20Speaker 1: Yeah, let's get back to Scrubs at school.
- 27:26Speaker 2: He makes this really weird mouth noise when.
- 27:29Speaker 3: He's horrifying, a top hateful sound.
- 27:33Speaker 1: Could he not be inside like this? How does this
- 27:37Speaker 1: get like? Can get punched in the face? Like what
- 27:44Speaker 1: the fuck?
- 27:45Speaker 2: Yeah, well, this is a different era. This is before
- 27:48Speaker 2: all of all of the world had a giant change.
- 27:52Speaker 1: Regardless, regardless, this is still douchebag material.
- 27:57Speaker 2: Man like him, obviously, But now we watch it and go, well,
- 28:01Speaker 2: he'd be fired, he'd be kicked out of the school, regardless.
- 28:04Speaker 1: That's fucked up.
- 28:05Speaker 3: Bro, Was this the same place where he said this is.
- 28:13Speaker 2: What he makes like a weird noise with his mouth.
- 28:16Speaker 1: He goes that dude is dead, dead, his family dead.
- 28:25Speaker 1: I want him put in the ground dead, good fellas.
- 28:30Speaker 2: We learned that Lucy has never seen herself nude. She
- 28:34Speaker 2: says she's been nude, but she never looked down. The
- 28:38Speaker 2: logistics of that are so tough. It's very tricky.
- 28:42Speaker 3: It sounds like something Elliot would say.
- 28:44Speaker 2: And JD's like, wow, that's weird for a doctor, but okay,
- 28:48Speaker 2: And then Todd is able to sense when a couple
- 28:51Speaker 2: is doing it. Not only is he able to sense
- 28:53Speaker 2: that they're doing it, but he's able to sense which
- 28:55Speaker 2: clothing they have on. I mean, there's not even noises
- 28:58Speaker 2: in the hallway, but he's like, he closes his eyes
- 29:01Speaker 2: and he's like, socks off, pants on. He knows, he knew,
- 29:05Speaker 2: he's got like a The ability to sense is a force,
- 29:10Speaker 2: the sexual force.
- 29:15Speaker 1: I send someone having sex right now, sucks off pants on.
- 29:30Speaker 2: It's the sexual force.
- 29:32Speaker 1: The sexual force.
- 29:35Speaker 2: Snoop dogg Residents makes an appearance, and he's not down
- 29:39Speaker 2: to help Carrie Boschet with her mission. She's trying to
- 29:42Speaker 2: help an alcoholic patient. We should just get back to
- 29:44Speaker 2: a little bit of the storyline. Uh, Lucy's trying to
- 29:48Speaker 2: help a patient, but she's too naive to know that
- 29:51Speaker 2: the guy is a really horrible alcoholic. And Cox is saying, oh,
- 29:55Speaker 2: there's no hope. He's going to be right back here,
- 29:57Speaker 2: just you wait. Donald's right. It's a little bit like
- 29:59Speaker 2: the same Andy storyline in Old Scrubs where he's always
- 30:04Speaker 2: trying to steal pills.
- 30:07Speaker 1: Right, Donald, that's the exact storyline.
- 30:11Speaker 2: But this time JD's a part of it because JD
- 30:13Speaker 2: also thinks that she needs to learn the hard lesson.
- 30:17Speaker 1: I did like that and I saw that. I mean,
- 30:20Speaker 1: I didn't necessarily see that part coming where JD's actually
- 30:24Speaker 1: in on it, but I knew the outcome of the story,
- 30:26Speaker 1: and I was like, if they change the outcome of
- 30:27Speaker 1: the story, this isn't then they're really fucking up the
- 30:31Speaker 1: way Scrubs is supposed to be made. But when JD
- 30:35Speaker 1: came in at the end and was talking about how
- 30:38Speaker 1: he likes his money, how he likes his winnings, and
- 30:42Speaker 1: he does it in her face too.
- 30:44Speaker 2: That was an interesting character change for JD that you
- 30:46Speaker 2: haven't seen before. That he's he's become as cynical as
- 30:51Speaker 2: cocks in that regard, and he's doing it in her face,
- 30:53Speaker 2: like you said, and it's a bet that she was
- 30:56Speaker 2: wrong for helping him.
- 30:58Speaker 1: He was partly, Yeah, he's I'm going to let's set
- 31:00Speaker 1: this girl up. She is, let's get her like literally,
- 31:04Speaker 1: they had a pow wow, and cox's all.
- 31:07Speaker 2: JD does give her the chance to try, but he
- 31:10Speaker 2: feels that she needs to learn the lesson that he
- 31:12Speaker 2: learned that odds are that you can, of course, you
- 31:14Speaker 2: can root for people, but you can't invest in thinking
- 31:18Speaker 2: they're going to turn their lives around every single time.
- 31:20Speaker 2: You just you won't be able to continue. It's too
- 31:23Speaker 2: hard as a doctor to think people are going to
- 31:25Speaker 2: make the right choices right.
- 31:27Speaker 1: My wife always says to me when something happens, and
- 31:31Speaker 1: statistically it always happens. She always says to me when
- 31:34Speaker 1: I'm acting all surprised, I can't believe you're so surprised
- 31:37Speaker 1: by all of this. To be emotionally invested in people
- 31:41Speaker 1: the way she is invested in people at this early
- 31:44Speaker 1: stage is very dangerous, and I think the fact that
- 31:49Speaker 1: Cox and JD do this to her is in a
- 31:53Speaker 1: lot of ways a great lesson, but it's very unrealistic.
- 31:57Speaker 1: I don't think anybody would ever It's television, I know,
- 31:59Speaker 1: but I don't think think anybody would ever go through
- 32:02Speaker 1: this much to where she has a car wash and
- 32:05Speaker 1: she had you know what I mean. And you know
- 32:08Speaker 1: that was.
- 32:09Speaker 2: A bit heightened too, like let's put on a car
- 32:11Speaker 2: wash and then the car wash turns into like an
- 32:13Speaker 2: R rated eighties movie.
- 32:14Speaker 1: Yeah, and it's like, all right, I don't know, man.
- 32:17Speaker 1: At storytelling, I get I get, I get the premise
- 32:21Speaker 1: because we've seen the story before. It's just and it
- 32:24Speaker 1: for me, as a fan now of watching Scrubs, to
- 32:28Speaker 1: see this, I can see and I'm not dissing any
- 32:31Speaker 1: of the actors. I'm not dissing any of the writers.
- 32:34Speaker 1: It was a swing at something, but I could see
- 32:37Speaker 1: why you would get upset watching this after knowing everything
- 32:41Speaker 1: that came before.
- 32:42Speaker 2: You're empathizing with the fans who went, wait this, you've
- 32:46Speaker 2: missed the tone You've It's a very hard tone to nail,
- 32:50Speaker 2: and I think when you don't have Bill doing it,
- 32:54Speaker 2: it can go off the rails.
- 32:56Speaker 1: It's a it's a big swing and it's a big ask.
- 32:59Speaker 2: Tone is it's so tricky to nail, and it's a
- 33:02Speaker 2: you can find with the width of a hair you
- 33:05Speaker 2: can fall one way wrong or one way right. And
- 33:07Speaker 2: I think that all the things you're sensing are there's
- 33:10Speaker 2: funny things in this. I definitely laughed out loud a
- 33:12Speaker 2: few times. But what you're sensing is like, oh, but
- 33:16Speaker 2: it's it's shifted, it's there's something off of it. Car
- 33:21Speaker 2: Wash was another thing that wouldn't be in a TV
- 33:23Speaker 2: show today, Like let's get Nikki wheeling in a bikini
- 33:27Speaker 2: and shower her with a hose.
- 33:30Speaker 1: But it's a dangerous lesson that's getting back to it.
- 33:33Speaker 1: It's a dangerous lesson that she has to learn. And
- 33:36Speaker 1: the way they go about it, although the lesson lands
- 33:41Speaker 1: at the end, is really cavalier. And as for these
- 33:45Speaker 1: older professionals.
- 33:46Speaker 3: To I don't know, can I ask you, so, do
- 33:50Speaker 3: you feel like this is an appropriate evolution for JD,
- 33:53Speaker 3: who we've seen struggle under doctor hawks for so many years,
- 33:57Speaker 3: to just be like, I just want to hug. I
- 33:58Speaker 3: just want you to acknowledge that we do have like
- 34:01Speaker 3: this positive relationship that I mean something to you. Then
- 34:04Speaker 3: the first student who sort of takes him seriously and
- 34:06Speaker 3: confides in him to pull a joke on her. I personally,
- 34:11Speaker 3: I understand from a experienced veteran at this point to
- 34:15Speaker 3: be like, Hey, you have to experience pain because it's
- 34:18Speaker 3: coming at you no matter what, and you have to
- 34:20Speaker 3: tough en up, like you can't be this vulnerable all
- 34:23Speaker 3: the time. But I also was like, man, I'm not
- 34:25Speaker 3: sure if this is how I feel the JD I've
- 34:27Speaker 3: known for eight seasons would handle teaching this lesson, But
- 34:32Speaker 3: I don't even think Cox would handle it this way.
- 34:34Speaker 2: Oh, it is very toxican and no, well.
- 34:37Speaker 4: I don't know.
- 34:38Speaker 1: I don't know. I think I did the same thing with.
- 34:40Speaker 3: The guy with the pills.
- 34:40Speaker 1: Right with JD. He was all he didn't know. All
- 34:43Speaker 1: he did was let him go, go do your thing,
- 34:45Speaker 1: you know what I mean. He never was like he
- 34:48Speaker 1: never was like, you know, do a car wash, do
- 34:51Speaker 1: a such, and you know what I mean, it just
- 34:53Speaker 1: got really it got bigger than the hospital is what happened.
- 34:59Speaker 1: And that's when it kind of gonna follow, you know
- 35:02Speaker 1: what I mean. It's like, all right, you know, she's
- 35:05Speaker 1: now on her college campus. The security guards from the
- 35:09Speaker 1: college campus is helping out, like all for a patient.
- 35:17Speaker 1: It just I don't know, man, it just it got
- 35:20Speaker 1: real big in a story that has been told before.
- 35:25Speaker 1: And this didn't need to be the A storyline. This
- 35:28Speaker 1: could have been the B storyline, and the A storyline
- 35:30Speaker 1: could have been Joe and fucking Phonsie. I thought that
- 35:33Speaker 1: shit was fucking hilarious. The fucking you know, if Joe
- 35:36Speaker 1: and Phonsie had a television show together, how much, you
- 35:40Speaker 1: know what I mean? I like that. I would watch
- 35:41Speaker 1: a show with Phonsie and a gremlin. That was funny
- 35:44Speaker 1: to me, you know.
- 35:46Speaker 3: Was brilliant.
- 35:47Speaker 1: Yeah, let's do it high. That shit was fucking hilarious. Bark,
- 35:53Speaker 1: this is just for me. If we're gonna explore new
- 35:54Speaker 1: characters and we're gonna explore new things, we can't do
- 35:58Speaker 1: old storylines with the same new characters and stuff like that.
- 36:01Speaker 1: And I feel like that's what we're doing.
- 36:02Speaker 2: I think we've d all done this enough. French Laundry
- 36:05Speaker 2: was the restaurant I was trying to think of.
- 36:07Speaker 3: Oh that's the obviously, Yeah, okay, all right, yeah.
- 36:10Speaker 2: Gotcha, gotcha. Jad and Turk didn't meet over a bloomin onion.
- 36:14Speaker 2: Everyone who knows Scrubs knows they meant in the dorm room.
- 36:17Speaker 2: When when Jad had a mullet and Turk had a
- 36:20Speaker 2: flat top what do you call it? Faith? High top faith.
- 36:25Speaker 2: There was a wizard hat involved, I believe. So this
- 36:28Speaker 2: really breaks lure saying that we met over a bloomin onion.
- 36:31Speaker 2: And I don't like that. It was said someone needs
- 36:34Speaker 2: someone whoever wrote that should have done a rewatch of
- 36:38Speaker 2: all eight seasons of Scrubs. The lor master on hand, Okay,
- 36:44Speaker 2: so Kelso's, as Donald said, is at the bar, and
- 36:47Speaker 2: he gives a little bit of advice to Drew, saying,
- 36:51Speaker 2: you can't wall yourself in. You you got to look
- 36:54Speaker 2: for a partner. You shouldn't isolate yourself. He says that
- 36:57Speaker 2: while trying to bring a coup uger home, he's on
- 37:01Speaker 2: a hunt to find some some ladies.
- 37:04Speaker 1: I did. I did laugh at Edith, mister Nickerson and
- 37:08Speaker 1: r I p I did laugh at that.
- 37:13Speaker 2: And we have the very elaborate fantasy Donald mentioned with
- 37:16Speaker 2: Antonio Sobado Junior. And it's a lifetime movie. And uh,
- 37:20Speaker 2: you were looking pretty ripped in that. By the way,
- 37:23Speaker 2: when I like my I mean, I'm what's it called,
- 37:26Speaker 2: I'm being Fabio. I've got long flowing hair on.
- 37:30Speaker 1: The nacho bros. That was funny.
- 37:33Speaker 2: Yeah, you like him, but they gave you nachos.
- 37:37Speaker 1: That's why we like, right, That's why we liked That's.
- 37:39Speaker 2: Why your friends. He gave me leftover bar. And the
- 37:45Speaker 2: episode ends with Kelso is about to hook up with
- 37:48Speaker 2: Cole's mom.
- 37:50Speaker 3: Perfect revenge.
- 37:51Speaker 2: Yeah, that's nice revenge. I hope that.
- 37:56Speaker 1: No, it's not. He needed that in his life. The
- 38:01Speaker 1: perfect revenge is cold getting kicked out of that fucking school. Yeah,
- 38:08Speaker 1: but he has to evolve and by the end of it.
- 38:11Speaker 1: I'm sure Cole is going to be a loved character. Yeah, well,
- 38:14Speaker 1: right now, he's the most hated person in the history
- 38:16Speaker 1: of school. He's more hated than it's like a baguette.
- 38:21Speaker 2: Yeah, well, that guy was just an as kisser. He
- 38:23Speaker 2: wasn't sexually harassing anybody. All right, let's go to break
- 38:26Speaker 2: and when we come back, Joelle, do we have some
- 38:29Speaker 2: callers to listen to.
- 38:30Speaker 3: We have a voicemail to listen to today. That's pretty great.
- 38:33Speaker 2: Great, we'll be right back after this commercial break. Everybody,
- 38:45Speaker 2: all RIGHTO, well, go.
- 38:45Speaker 3: Ahead, Daniel's queuing us up. Thanks Danel.
- 38:48Speaker 5: Here we go, Hi, fake doctors and Joel. I watched
- 38:54Speaker 5: episode two of season nine for the first time, and
- 38:57Speaker 5: I am pleased and surprised to say I did not
- 39:00Speaker 5: totally hate it. I am wanting to try to get
- 39:03Speaker 5: this into two minutes or less. I've got highlights and
- 39:06Speaker 5: the lights for you. First highlight was Kelso's cameo, perfectly crass,
- 39:10Speaker 5: definitely would have got him canceled in twenty twenty four,
- 39:12Speaker 5: but I still loved it. Cox's back to being himself
- 39:15Speaker 5: in a way that wasn't egregious. I'm aware that Cox
- 39:18Speaker 5: is an egregious human being, but in episode one it
- 39:21Speaker 5: felt like he was doing Cox, like shouting, you know,
- 39:24Speaker 5: this is my character, and in episode two he was
- 39:28Speaker 5: back to being Cox. All of the interactions with JD
- 39:31Speaker 5: and Turk are always great. JD is back to calling
- 39:34Speaker 5: doctor Cox either doctor Cox or Perry Cox. He's not
- 39:37Speaker 5: calling him Perry, which I did not like in episode one.
- 39:40Speaker 5: And the last highlight, surprisingly is Drew, very surprisingly, because
- 39:44Speaker 5: I don't like these interns, but Drew still feels like
- 39:48Speaker 5: a developing character. He's also a conventionally handsome, confusing white male,
- 39:54Speaker 5: and the twenty two year old in me will always
- 39:56Speaker 5: find that attractive and appealing. But because he's still developing,
- 39:59Speaker 5: he's still interesting to watch. So those are my highlights
- 40:02Speaker 5: low lights Essentially. The other interns Cole I like Dave
- 40:07Speaker 5: Franco as an actor, so it's not him, it's this character,
- 40:11Speaker 5: a sad face Girl whose name I just can't remember,
- 40:13Speaker 5: and Denise sad Face Girl. I've decided that all three
- 40:17Speaker 5: of them are not characters. They're caricatures of the missing
- 40:21Speaker 5: cast members. Sad Face Girl is Elliott. She's the people
- 40:24Speaker 5: pleaser in Elliott without the snark or the humor. She
- 40:27Speaker 5: literally said what the French when scared, and Elliott would
- 40:31Speaker 5: say what the frick? But that was way funnier, and
- 40:33Speaker 5: Elliott's delivery was always better. Cole is obviously the overtly
- 40:38Speaker 5: sexual bonehead part of Todd, but Todd was dense and
- 40:42Speaker 5: self absorbed in a way that was clueless and not mean.
- 40:45Speaker 5: Cole is mean, and Denise is. She's like the wall
- 40:51Speaker 5: that Carla puts up, but she's missing the friendship that
- 40:55Speaker 5: Carla is able to extend. Denise is the girl who's like,
- 40:59Speaker 5: I can't be with girls because girls are super catty,
- 41:01Speaker 5: and then proceeds to be caddy to every girl she
- 41:03Speaker 5: meets and shotgun beers.
- 41:04Speaker 3: At a party to prove that she's cool with boys.
- 41:06Speaker 5: They feel like caricatures that are being shoved down our
- 41:09Speaker 5: throats to make up for the cast members that we're missing.
- 41:13Speaker 5: So that's why I think I don't That's why I
- 41:15Speaker 5: think I don't like them, and why I still think
- 41:18Speaker 5: I'm not going to enjoy the rest of the season,
- 41:20Speaker 5: even though now I am going to finish watching it.
- 41:22Speaker 5: I'm over my two minute time limit. I do apologize.
- 41:25Speaker 5: I hope you guys are having fun. I love the
- 41:26Speaker 5: podcast and Joel, you and I are officially besties.
- 41:29Speaker 3: Bye obviously I love that was so.
- 41:34Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 41:35Speaker 3: Trika's a teacher and she had only ever watched episode one.
- 41:38Speaker 3: I missed her initial voicemail for episode one, so I
- 41:41Speaker 3: wrote her. I was like, please watch episode two. Your
- 41:43Speaker 3: first voicemail is so like. She's such a great analyst,
- 41:46Speaker 3: and I was like, could you do that for episode two?
- 41:48Speaker 3: She was like, I have to show. I think it's
- 41:49Speaker 3: her Spanish class the episode and Spanish so she could
- 41:52Speaker 3: watch it in enough time for she had to.
- 41:54Speaker 1: Go on a drip.
- 41:55Speaker 2: Hilarious, So she did that. She got such a good job.
- 41:58Speaker 2: She should do it. We should have that now to me,
- 42:00Speaker 2: and we have to be good. We have to analyze
- 42:03Speaker 2: each episode of season nine. I like everything she said.
- 42:07Speaker 2: I agree that the characters are a bit extreme caricatures
- 42:11Speaker 2: and not as as lovable as the original squad. That's true,
- 42:18Speaker 2: well said.
- 42:19Speaker 3: Thanks Tamika, you're great.
- 42:21Speaker 1: Well I really enjoyed. I really enjoyed what she said
- 42:23Speaker 1: because she said what I was thinking.
- 42:26Speaker 2: Yeah, in a really articulate smart way. So thank you, Joelle.
- 42:31Speaker 2: Remind we need your submissions, guys.
- 42:33Speaker 1: Well there's another submission isn't there just.
- 42:35Speaker 3: One this week? Just want sor Tamika is so great.
- 42:37Speaker 3: She gave She gave us positives and negatives, and I
- 42:40Speaker 3: thought I wanted to highlight an example of what a
- 42:42Speaker 3: pristine epic voicemail sounds like. She did it in two
- 42:46Speaker 3: and a half minutes technically supposed to under three, so
- 42:48Speaker 3: she hit it. No need to apologize to Mika, you
- 42:49Speaker 3: did great. You can send your voicemails to us at
- 42:52Speaker 3: scrubs iHeart at gmail dot com. If you can put
- 42:57Speaker 3: the episode number in the subject line that that's really
- 43:00Speaker 3: helpful for me. It'll help us spot you. We are
- 43:02Speaker 3: listening to everything that comes through, but just so can
- 43:04Speaker 3: get you guys organized in a neat and orderly way,
- 43:07Speaker 3: that'll be helpful. Yeah, hit us up and scrubs. I
- 43:09Speaker 3: heard why you love or hate an episode of season nine,
- 43:12Speaker 3: preferably one that's not already aired, because I can't do
- 43:14Speaker 3: anything with that.
- 43:15Speaker 2: Yeah. Amen, Well, thank you, Joelle. This was a great experience. Donald,
- 43:21Speaker 2: we know how you feel, right.
- 43:23Speaker 1: And no way, but I don't want to listen. I
- 43:25Speaker 1: know a lot of you out there. In fact, Donald,
- 43:27Speaker 1: all you did was hate on this show today. I
- 43:30Speaker 1: want you to understand. I enjoyed the time with the
- 43:32Speaker 1: four of you. I'm sorry.
- 43:35Speaker 2: With the three of you, audience will be happy. I
- 43:37Speaker 2: know that Donald is in his classic Mickey Mouse hoodie.

- 43:45Speaker 1: and B singer like John B. Right now with your
- 43:47Speaker 1: shoulders out, I'm waiting for you to sing a freaking
- 43:54Speaker 1: a song or two. B. Who's John B? Yeah, I
- 43:58Speaker 1: know John Bay. He was an R and B singer,
- 44:02Speaker 1: white arm B singer who would sing songs like don't
- 44:05Speaker 1: say that You'll never do it. You know you'd be
- 44:13Speaker 1: the first one he's saging that one, and then your
- 44:16Speaker 1: my ainel. He was a he was a Babyface artist,
- 44:21Speaker 1: actually somebody who Babyface would write music for, and he
- 44:25Speaker 1: had a lot of He had a few hit songs
- 44:28Speaker 1: back in the early two thousands. And that's what you
- 44:31Speaker 1: look like. You look like you're about to dance with
- 44:34Speaker 1: in sync. Baby.
- 44:35Speaker 2: It's a beautiful day outside, so I'm gonna go enjoy
- 44:37Speaker 2: some sunlight. Donald, to tell the audience when to watch
