- 0:00Tracks. It's the Galaxy's most unpredictable Star trek podcast. M h here we
- 0:24are here, we are back again. Welcome everybody, Yeah, welcome.
- 0:34How are you doing? Man? I am doing fantastic. It's the weeks
- 0:38seem to fly by, so yeah, getting geared up for for some things
- 0:43that are coming up in the sci fi world, so you know, a
- 0:49few weeks. Yeah, it's gonna be. It's gonna be, which is
- 0:52good, good for us. Yeah. Oh hey, I'm liking the I'm
- 0:57liking the trek Cast uh beanie the beanie. Yeah that's awesome. Yeah,
- 1:03Daniel's wearing a really cool uh trek Cast beanie that I'm assuming you can get
- 1:07at the the merchant section at trek cast dot com. Yep, okay,
- 1:11good way to support the show and a show off your good love of treck
- 1:17Cast. Yeah. I've gotten back into writing more lately, and for whatever
- 1:23reason, when I write, I wear a beanie cap your thinking cap on.
- 1:27Yeah, put my thinking cap on literally. Yeah, the beanie has
- 1:34been worn a lot lately. Love it. Yeah, what have you been
- 1:38up to? Oh? There he goes, look at that. Oh yeah,
- 1:41I'm having some technical difference. Oh oh no, we've lost a strong
- 1:47beard. Well, hopefully he'll come back. I will monitor the situation.
- 1:53Uh. In the meantime, oh there is now he's back. Yeah,
- 1:57I'm having some technical difficulties. I have to reset if if you don't mind
- 2:00carrying the show, start, I'll start the news. Okay, all right,
- 2:05thanks, all right. So in the meantime, we're gonna get right
- 2:07to Star Trek News. Star Trek News. All right. So our first
- 2:15news story coming up right now is from Collider, So let me bring this
- 2:21up so everyone can check that out. Basically, we are learning a little
- 2:25bit more about Star Trek legacy. The actor who played Jack pressure there.
- 2:31He is right there, Ed spears. I can never pronounce this last name.
- 2:38He says that Star Trek Legacy will happen if fans are noisy about it.
- 2:43He says he has heard a lot of the internet buzz about legacy and
- 2:50how people are excited for it and hoping for it to actually come to fruition.
- 2:54But right now it is not in happening allegedly, so we'll see.
- 3:02But he does say that they have heard a lot of the the chatter.
- 3:07He wants it to happen. He says he loves playing that character. He
- 3:10said, what is the quote right here? I feel like I have so
- 3:15much to offer with him him being Jack Pressure, and I really really hope
- 3:22and want to believe that I get the chance at some point. So yeah,
- 3:25he he would love to do that. He would love to to be
- 3:30Jack Pressure again. I know a lot of us are really excited for Star
- 3:35Trek Legacy and hoping that it comes to fruition. But with that in mind,
- 3:39let's get oh there, he is stronger. So we're just talking about
- 3:45Star Trek Legacy. Yeah, let's let's all make some noise. You know
- 3:51that. That's what they're saying, speaking of Star Trek shows. I'll just
- 3:54kind of bounce around from what I originally wanted to do. But that's fine
- 3:59because it's kind of so we are learning a little bit more about another Star
- 4:02Trek show, and we're learning about Star Trek Academy. So, according to
- 4:09Alex Kurtzman, who was recently interviewed at South South by Southwest that festival going
- 4:16on, he says you can expect Start Trek Academy not airing until twenty twenty
- 4:23six. He says they are currently building the sets and those sets are massive.
- 4:28It's going to take another six months of shooting in about six eight months
- 4:31of postwork, so about twenty to twenty twenty six is when we can expect
- 4:35academy. He did also say that they're expecting to shoot towards the end of
- 4:43the summer, so by then we can get probably chast announcements chas been Saint
- 4:49Boo already. Yeah, yeah, so you know, people are excited.
- 4:58It's funny. Stanpointed this out when he saw a post for Star Trek Academy,
- 5:03and the comments were really filled with give us legacy. And I have
- 5:08noticed that in other areas too, even on official Star Trek posts about Academy.
- 5:15It's just we want legacy. Please give us legacy. So yeah,
- 5:20we I mean, we're reading a dead horse here, but well, for
- 5:24sure, everybody wants legacy. Everybody wants it set in you know, twenty
- 5:28four oh one or twenty four h two. That's what we want. We
- 5:30want, we want these characters, and we want I think a lot of
- 5:36people want this timeline. We want the next but yeah, that's that's the
- 5:44timeline we want. So we'll we'll see. But yeah, that's that's where
- 5:47we're at right now. All right, then our next news story comes to
- 5:51us from Joe Blow. This is kind of interesting, but apparently, according
- 6:00to a Roddenberry executive who was interviewed, Paramount says they have a plan for
- 6:09Star Trek movies. For those of you listening, I put a plan in
- 6:13air quotes. Yeah, so what have they been doing all this time?
- 6:18Yeah? When I posted the story in the in the Facebook group, I
- 6:21put did they not have a plan before? Apparently not? Yeah. Yeah,
- 6:29So apparently Paramount is very intent in coming out with a Star Trek movie.
- 6:33They've had plenty of shows that they really think it's time to be back
- 6:38in the box office, and so they're working on something and there's a lot
- 6:42of logistics, you know, to get out of the way, like I
- 6:44don't know, maybe a story in the script and you cast yea, So
- 6:56we have no idea what the film would be about out because they don't even
- 7:00know, you know. When when they say they have a plan, it's
- 7:04really hard for me to believe, not because of everything we've seen, but
- 7:09because of the fact that Paramount is for sale and they're knocking on the door
- 7:14of everyone saying will you please buy us? You know, it puts It
- 7:18also puts the future to the future of Star Trek in jeopardy too. Yeah,
- 7:27when it's parent company sort of is for sale, and yeah, yeah,
- 7:31there's a lot of unknowns. You know, there's too many unknowns to
- 7:34be really confident about this. Like I don't doubt that they themselves have a
- 7:39plan, you know, while we want to make a movie by this date
- 7:42and we're you know, working on it. Sure, I don't doubt that.
- 7:46But when you're trying to sell yourself, all those plans go right out
- 7:49the window at the minute that sale finishes, right, and they're talking about
- 7:54having you know, they're talking about having plans like, oh, you can
- 7:56do this next year in twenty twenty six. And I'm going to have talked
- 8:01about this in a little bit when I when I talk about the rewatch.
- 8:03But you know, they didn't know what they were doing. You know,
- 8:07five years ago, they had zero clue what was going to happen right now,
- 8:11right like they did. They didn't even plan for what was happening right
- 8:15now. So you know, them telling us they've got plans for two,
- 8:18three, four years from now, I don't Yeah, yeah, that's how
- 8:24I feel. I'll believe that Gussins saying he wants a Star Trek popcorn bucket.
- 8:28Which what would it be? Would it be a shuttle crap because like
- 8:31the enterprise is too Yeah, a shadow craft makes the most sense, I
- 8:33think. Yeah, so yeah, and then our last news story comes to
- 8:41just from the Hollywood Reporter. This I think was kind of interesting because I
- 8:45don't think we've seen too many sequels in Black Mirror, But according to the
- 8:50Hollywood Porter, Black Mirror and season seven will do a sequel to the Uss
- 8:56Callister. If you remember this episode, it was like one off episode,
- 9:01which kind of Black Mirror, every every episode is one off kind of Star
- 9:07Trek loosely based, right. Yeah, yeah, yeah, so it should
- 9:11hit next year, is what they're saying. For those of us who didn't
- 9:15watch Black Mirror, I'm not saying me. I'm saying there might be an
- 9:18audience member or two who haven't. Did you watch Black Mirror, and if
- 9:22so, could you give us a little Yeah, so we reviewed it.
- 9:24It's it's one of our past episodes. Black Mirror is kind of like the
- 9:28modern day, I don't know, it's very much in the vein of Twilight
- 9:35Zone, that kind of that kind of so each each episode is its own
- 9:41thing. They do not connect. They're what they call an anthology series.
- 9:46Gotcha. And so a few years ago they did a a Star Trek style
- 9:52show. It was called The Uss Callister. It had a bunch of actors
- 9:58now that you would go back and be like, oh, that guy's in
- 10:01there, right right, Yeah, it's pretty neat. I don't remember the
- 10:07whole premise of the episode, but I do remember thinking it was pretty good.
- 10:11I know we did review it, so you can go listen to our
- 10:15review. Yeah, ty j is saying it's it's really dark. That's dude,
- 10:20that is true. I do remember it being but most of Black Marry,
- 10:24Yeah, most of a Black Marry is very very dark. Okay,
- 10:31uh yeah yeah, so that should be hitting hitting uh Netflix sometime next year.
- 10:37So I'll check that out. Yeah, more more surgic. It's pretty
- 10:41cool. Definitely not for kids, kind of like, right we reviewed,
- 10:48okay, okay, but that's all the news stories, all right. Yeah,
- 10:56if you don't mind, I've got something i'd like to bring up.
- 11:00Yeah, yeah, good for it. So I have been doing a rewatch
- 11:05of Star Trek Discovery, and so far, I'm about halfway through season two.
- 11:11So I've just been it's been on in the background, and i've been
- 11:13you know, while I'm working out and while I'm on my lunch at work
- 11:16and stuff like that. So I've been kind of powering through them. There's
- 11:20a They're fairly long episodes, varying from like about forty five minutes to about
- 11:24almost an hour long. The first season was fifteen or sixteen episodes. The
- 11:28second season is like fourteen or fifteen episodes, so they get progressively shorter.
- 11:33But so, I just wanted to note a couple of things about the rewatch.
- 11:37Number One, I am enjoying the rewatch more than my than the initial
- 11:46run. Okay, so I think it's because some of the shocking things that
- 11:52I sort of sort of hit me the wrong way the first time, like
- 11:56the Klingons and some of the storyline are not so egregious to me the second
- 12:03time around. The shock Yeah, it's it's out of my system and I'm
- 12:09just able to focus on the storylines. I'm finding myself stopping and rewinding to
- 12:15catch certain lines of dialogue because I care what they're saying, and I care
- 12:18a little bit more about the storyline more this time around, and I'm getting
- 12:22a little bit more out of it. I'm I'm obviously I'm understanding the characters
- 12:26a little bit more of the second time around, and so it's it's it's
- 12:31better the second time around. I'm just I'm halfway through season two, so
- 12:35I've you know, we're not quite sure who the Red Angel is at this
- 12:39point. We have been introduced to Spock. He's gone crazy. So I'm
- 12:45I'm really loving. One of the characters that I'm liking a lot more of
- 12:50the second time around is Georgio. Uh, Georgio. She is the first
- 12:58time, I just hated her because she was such you know, she was
- 13:00like the bad guy. But this time around, I'm understanding sort of the
- 13:07depths of her character and why they why they if they if the showrunners wanted
- 13:13Georgio there, why they chose that version of her instead of the primetime primeline
- 13:20version of her. Because Emperor Georgio is much more interesting than Captain Georgio,
- 13:24right right. So IIJ says that he did a rewatch last year and that
- 13:31the seasons are a masterpiece compared to what follows. Well, yeah, that's
- 13:35I'm I'm debating whether or I see, here's the thing too. The first
- 13:39season of Discovery came out in twenty seventeen. Yeah, so it was a
- 13:43long time ago. I there were half of the episodes I had only vague
- 13:50recollections of. Part of the reason why I'm enjoying the rewatch is it's kind
- 13:54of like watching a new Star Trek series because I don't remember half of these
- 13:58either tuned them out or wasn't all that interested, or you know, I
- 14:01remember the first couple of episodes, but after that it was kind of a
- 14:05blur. And I'm I'm really enjoying the rewatch because I'm I'm remembering the episodes
- 14:09and actually, you know, caring. But they're one of the things that
- 14:13I'm doing while I'm rewatching uh the season one and two as I've also gone
- 14:22back and I'm re listening to trek Cast the corresponding cast episodes and from you
- 14:30know, five years ago, and I have a couple of notes here.
- 14:33Yeah, that's right, go for it. So, yeah, so a
- 14:43couple of highlights from uh Trek Cast. Now, UH trek Cast the next
- 14:48generation when you guys took over, Yeah, uh was around the same time
- 14:54the Discovery started. Yeah, they kind of coincided, so you weren't doing
- 15:01an episode by episode. You were kind of recapping like parts of seasons back
- 15:07then. And one of a couple of notes was number one. Chad said
- 15:16many times the writers of Discovery are and I quote geniuses. So I don't
- 15:24know how well that aged. There was a discussion in which you, Daniel
- 15:31gave Dan and Chad a lesson in quantum physics with a side dose of relativity.
- 15:41You guys were talking about space travel and you went into this, you
- 15:46put your professor Daniel head on again. You were explained quite well, I
- 15:52might add general relativity. Yeah, general relativity, some quantum physics, and
- 16:00and you were sort of explaining uh uh equals MC squared to us. That
- 16:07was that was great, yep, ye, but uh but probably my favorite
- 16:12thing that aged so well was was Dan's yeah impersonation of Starfleet Captain Donald Trump.
- 16:25Oh god, absolutely amazing. So if you if you haven't seen it
- 16:32a while or you just started listening to trek cast, there, if you
- 16:36just started listening to trek Cast within the last like six months or so,
- 16:40uh, there was a period five years ago that was that didn't have Scott
- 16:45and it had Chad, Dan and Daniel and you're doing it, especially if
- 16:49you're doing a disco rewatch, go back to the corresponding time. Uh,
- 16:56go back to the time index of whatever show you're watching and re re listen
- 17:00or rewatch trek cast. There's some there's some gold nuggets in there. Boy.
- 17:07Also your guys' predictions. For God, the direction that Discovery was going
- 17:15to go. It made me feel like I was in the year twenty fifteen
- 17:22and watching Back to the Beature Part two for the first time. Sure,
- 17:26yeah, just it was great. Yeah, it was loved it. Loved
- 17:36it, you know, as as is with any time you're you know,
- 17:40try to predict the future. You know, sometimes you get a little bit
- 17:44of it right, and then sometimes you just you know, obviously you're gonna
- 17:47get it comically off. And I love the predictions. They're fantastic predictions.
- 17:53We do them and if they if they had gone in any of those directions,
- 17:56it would have been it would have been great. One of the things
- 18:00that I found funny was predictions that were from the studio. You Yeah,
- 18:04I just listened to an episode the other day where you did a news story
- 18:10where they were like, I think this is late twenty seventeen, or early
- 18:12twenty eighteen, and you're like, oh, yeah, they're in pre production
- 18:15for section thirty one and it's probably going to come out next year, because
- 18:18that's what they kept telling us. And it's like, uh yeah, I
- 18:22got newsports. Yeah, yeah, absolutely is going to be our black audam
- 18:27where he constantly about it. This is constantly. Yeah, we're going to
- 18:30constantly have new stories about it. Then someday it may or may not come
- 18:33out, but yeah, so that eventually, that's that's my recap of that.
- 18:37And if you know, especially for people like Chad if Discovery put a
- 18:41bad taste in your mouth, and and for Dan a rewatch, I know
- 18:48that Dan's actually doing the rewatch right now. Yeah, so I'm curious to
- 18:52hear what his his opinions are about it. But I just got one more
- 18:57thing. I wanted to show up, do a little show and tell.
- 19:00I saw in the Facebook group the Gentleman that lives in New York, Uh
- 19:06devall, yeah, I think it was I think it was him. He
- 19:10posted something he said, I just picked this up from Target and I had
- 19:12to get it. This is a I'm holding this up. If you can't
- 19:18if you can't see this, I'm holding up a small toy model of the
- 19:22Enterprise D that I got from Target after seeing the post from Devall. He
- 19:26said, he got it from Target, and I really like this. It's
- 19:30this thing only cost me twenty five dollars. Oh, it's got a little
- 19:34it's got a little starfleet stand. Oh it's not the most well put together
- 19:40thing. It's it's kind of cheaply made. But but but first, you
- 19:42know, and it it does it does little uh it does little sound effects.
- 19:51N I don't know. Yeah, and it does. It does the
- 19:56voice of Captain mc cart and Riker. And the thing that the reason why
- 20:02I got it, The thing that I like about it the most is it
- 20:06actually separates. Oh that's dope. And when it does the sound effect that
- 20:11it makes, and it's also got lights, the sound effects that it makes
- 20:15is the undocking sequence, so it actually has the sound effect of the docking
- 20:19sequence. So yeah, it's Yeah. So if you I was expecting when
- 20:27I went onto the Target website or or or eBay or whatever, I was
- 20:32expecting it to be because sometimes I've seen these and they'll sell them for like
- 20:36four hundred dollars just because they can't because you know, some of us full
- 20:40are foolish enough to spend quarter bucks, And I thought, there's no way
- 20:42this is going to be like a regular Christ thing. And it was like
- 20:48forty dollars on clearance for twenty three plus shipping. Oh wow. And so
- 20:53if yeah, the Enterprise D Little Model, it's it's about a little bit
- 20:59smaller than the old Playmates Model Enterprise because when I first saw in the box,
- 21:04I thought maybe they'd use the same mold. They didn't. It's a
- 21:07completely different it's a completely different process. I was wondering when this would happened,
- 21:11like that's a little D. That that is the it's the little D.
- 21:15Yep. Right, So I'm not going to confirm or deny whether I
- 21:22uh flew this around my house sound effects yesterday. That's for absolutely. So
- 21:33that's awesome. Well I'm glad you got it. I I think I may
- 21:36need to get one myself done. Yep. Yeah, all right, Well
- 21:41let's head on to our supplemental spotlight. This is gonna be interesting when folks,
- 21:47so here we go. All right, So we want to do something
- 21:57kind of star trek ish, and so we are. We took a look
- 22:03at a film. It's called mk Ultra it does star Anson Mount aka Captain
- 22:10Pike, So that's kind of the stretch that it started related because he's in
- 22:15it. This film was originally released in twenty twenty two. According to Rotten
- 22:19Tomatoes, it has a ninety three percent audience score, and that's with two
- 22:25hundred and twenty audience member ratings. So this is a film based on a
- 22:32true story about the MK eerments that the government did in the sixties seventies.
- 22:41Yeah, it was on Amazon Prime if you have a Prime account. I
- 22:45think it is part of the membership on there, so you can just watch
- 22:48it. Yep. What did you think, Scott? You know, it
- 22:52was interesting. It's a psychological thriller. Like you said, it's based on
- 22:57the experiments they did back in the sixties. Have you ever heard those stories
- 23:00about the government experimenting with LSD and other psycho whatever drugs to you know,
- 23:07kind of control people and that kind of thing. It's based on that.
- 23:11It's loosely based on a true story about it. Yeah, and it's like
- 23:17you said, it star as Ants and Mount as the the head scientists that
- 23:21sort of get sucked into this world of of government CIA, you know,
- 23:26undercover kind of kind of world. It's it's it's a trippy film, and
- 23:30I think that's an app word. Yeah, and I think that's part of
- 23:36the what they were going for, to make it feel like you were on
- 23:38acid, right right, Yeah, I mean it's weird. I think it
- 23:45was. It's kind of almost weird watching its sober. Yeah, yeah,
- 23:49a little bit. I don't advocate drug use, but if you're already into
- 23:53that, Yeah, it's definitely not one for children. No, No.
- 24:00Throughout the film there is a lot of nudity. I wasn't expecting it,
- 24:03yeah either. Yeah, yeah, a lot of drug obviously drug use.
- 24:10You know, we have to say based on a true story kind of because
- 24:14a lot of that stuff is classified. I mean some has been declassified.
- 24:17But even though the lead character Anson Mount's character, doctor Strauss, uh,
- 24:22there's no verification that I could find that that was a real person. That's
- 24:26interesting because I I, yeah, I did the same thing. I looked
- 24:29him up and it's like, uh, it's based I couldn't find a person
- 24:33that he's based on. But I couldn't find like in the film, they
- 24:37have archival footage that they sort of lead you to believe is the real doctor
- 24:41Strauss, right, but I couldn't confirm whether he was a real person or
- 24:45not. You know, usually you can find an article says, oh,
- 24:49he's a fake person. That's loosely fair. But I couldn't even find that.
- 24:52It just, yeah, to be fair, there's not a lot of
- 24:56articles about this movie. It was a small independent film. It really had
- 25:00a theatrical run. Well like the Rotten Tomatoes the ninety three that was an
- 25:06audience score, because it doesn't have a critics score. A critic score.
- 25:10Yeah, do you want to know what the box office was on this thing?
- 25:18I guess I don't remember it. I mean it was a million lucks.
- 25:23Yeah, not even It has made just over twenty five dollars in the
- 25:29box office get out twenty That is from box office Mojo and by the Numbers,
- 25:37those are both two of the main tracking sites out there. Yeah,
- 25:42so it's like hundred people saw this. Yeah, you know, and when
- 25:48they say a theatrical run, here, I'm going to pull up the numbers
- 25:51right there so we can see them. There. They are in box office
- 25:52Mojo internationally worldwide two and fifty two dollars. When they say theatrical run,
- 26:00that literally couldvene it was in one theater, which kind of that's what it
- 26:06sounds like. Yeah, it probably was in two or three theaters in the
- 26:08LA area, you know, for like you know, a weekend. Yeah,
- 26:14that's that's probably what it was. It also went straight to v O
- 26:17D. We don't have the VOD numbers, and I could not find a
- 26:21budget on this film. I don't think the budget was very high. Yeah,
- 26:25I can tell you that if you hadn't suggested a review of this,
- 26:30I probably never would have seen this. Yeah, Like it's a psychological thriller,
- 26:34not really my jam, you know, but I watched the whole thing.
- 26:38It was interesting. I was entertained. I'll I'll never watch it again.
- 26:41I yeah, me, you probably would either. But yeah, if
- 26:45you if you like psychological thrillers, I definitely recommend it. I generally like
- 26:52these kinds of films like these, like based on a true story, maybe
- 26:56some sort of government or some type of like legal casing that in Vain,
- 27:00that kind of thriller I do typically like every now and then. Yeah,
- 27:03but this film, it's a simple story, right. It starts out with
- 27:11with doctor Stress is running experiments in a mental institution and his funding is going
- 27:17to get cut. And he meets a CIA agent who says, hey,
- 27:21we'll give you all the funding you want, just come work for us.
- 27:26He rejects it. Then eventually he takes up the deal and he starts getting
- 27:29all his funding and it's it's you know, dealing that that, that deal
- 27:33with the devil, and it doesn't go quite the way he wants. And
- 27:37the ending is very weird. I don't want to spoil the ending, but
- 27:45if somebody were to do what he does at the end of the movie,
- 27:48there's no way he'd be walking around free. No uh yeah, I mean
- 27:56I can see a world where he walks around free because they want to cover
- 28:00it up. Well, he's either walking for like a month or two and
- 28:04then he would get or he magically disappears. Yes, you know, it's
- 28:08not even clear about what his fate was at the end. Because I thought
- 28:15they were gonna do some twispers that they had been drinking him the entire Yeah,
- 28:19yeah, that I thought would have been cool. But you know,
- 28:25yeah, it's it's a it's a very weird movie. It's interesting to see
- 28:29Anson Mountain a completely different character. Not you know, this character is the
- 28:33antithesis of Captain Pike, where his pike is like confident and and and suave.
- 28:41He has as the kids say, you know, yeah, this this
- 28:45character is like the complete opposite, just unsure of himself, nervous, you
- 28:52know, timid. It's very weird. Do see Mount Mount like that?
- 28:56It's also weird Shaane smoking like crazy yep yep, yeah, and and smoking
- 29:00other funny cigarettes too, that's right, that's right, that's right. And
- 29:04h and engaging in all sorts of weird sexual activity. Yes, there was
- 29:10a weird sexual activity. That's right, that's right. Yeah, he isn't
- 29:15even Actor Jason Patrick was in the film. Jason Patrick had been in a
- 29:19lot of movies back in the day. He was in another thriller that I
- 29:22really enjoyed, Narco or Narcs. Back in the day. He was,
- 29:27yeah, some other film that was in the box office recently. The director
- 29:33and writer of this film, Joseph Sarantino, is a former ex intelligence officer,
- 29:41so he's got a background in this. H it's kind of interesting he's
- 29:45become a filmmaker since he's got a handful of movies out there. Yeah,
- 29:51apparently this whole film takes place in Mississippi. I don't remember them saying that,
- 29:56but uh, there was a a crawl across the screen. There was
- 30:00a thing across the street that said something a mental hospital, psychiatric hospital,
- 30:04Mississippi nineteen sixty one. Yeah, okay, which you know, Mississippi in
- 30:10nineteen sixty one is kind of gives a bad, bad vibe to begin with,
- 30:14right, that's true, that's true. Yeah, it's a short film.
- 30:19It's only like ninety eight minutes. According to the Wikipedia, the film
- 30:23was originally called Midnight Climax, but then they changed it to mk Ultra.
- 30:27Yeah, either one or disturbing, Yeah, mk Ultra. The reason why
- 30:33it's called the mk Ultra is that's the name of the like the SAIA or
- 30:38the That was the name of the program that the CIA. It was,
- 30:42okay, the program, yeah, yea program. Yeah yeah. And if
- 30:45you want to go researching mk Ultra on the internet and good luck, good
- 30:49yeah, it's yeah, you're gonna have all sorts of tinfoil to have fun,
- 30:55right right, yeah, Maybe we can Maybe we can asked Dan to
- 31:00get some space force, uh you know, expertise. Maybe he can dig
- 31:03something up. I don't know if he could, I mean it'd be all
- 31:07right, right yeah, yeah, the section thirty one is Space Force will
- 31:11not like that. That's true. That's true. Well, my theory is
- 31:15that Dan is section thirty one of Spaceport. That's true, that makes sense.
- 31:21He always watched Yeah, yeah, but it's you know, it was
- 31:29neat to see a start actor in something else at least sure. Yeah,
- 31:33sure, maybe one of these days we'll watch The Green Room with Patrick Stewart
- 31:38and uh Antony Eltin. I don't know if you ever seen that one.
- 31:42I've heard of it, I've never I've never worn Yeah, that's that's where
- 31:45Patrick Stewarer plays the neo Nazi. Okay, yeah, that would be weird.
- 31:49It's a really crazy film. But yeah, yeah, you know,
- 31:55it's it's that there's a reason why a lot of actors play either bad guys
- 32:00good guys. You know, you sort of see them, you know.
- 32:04I don't want to see Patrick Stewart as a bad guy. I don't want
- 32:07to see Jonathan Fraakes as a bad guy, you know, because I love
- 32:12these actors because of the characters they play. Yeah, that's true. But
- 32:21yeah, so that that was the movie. I will say, just kind
- 32:24of give people Risola a little bit. We do have a plan for the
- 32:28next few episodes, So SE's that. So next week, Yeah, next
- 32:34week we will be covering the new Ghostbusters movie, Frozen Empire. The week
- 32:38after that we will be doing our Star Trek Discovery Season five prediction show,
- 32:44and then after that it'll be all Discovery during the run of that show.
- 32:50Just want to let people know what's kind of in store, since we have
- 32:52a plan and not just like, oh, we'll figure it out later.
- 32:55Yeah, yeah, so what is plan? Hopefully? I mean Paramount Plus
- 33:01had a plan too, So you're not wrong, You're not wrong. Can
- 33:07you imagine if in the middle of Discovery they're like, we're gonna split it
- 33:09up in October? Yeah, like six weeks in Yeah, right, right,
- 33:16I can see that happening. Well, I'm sure you know, in
- 33:20a week or two we'll be able to review section thirty one. That's gonna
- 33:22come out. Right. No, they're shooting it now. Oh, they
- 33:25are shooting it now. Like I said, I'll believe it when I see
- 33:29it, Yeah, exactly, exactly. Now, is that gonna be a
- 33:31movie a series that there? They've been kind of kind of back and forthy
- 33:37on that, haven't they Like, is it gonna be a full series?
- 33:42No, it's it's a it's a TV movie, TV movie. Okay,
- 33:45yeah it is. It is one hundred percent TV movie. But I don't
- 33:51know if that means like is it three hour movies? A two hour movie?
- 33:54You know, I don't know. Is it part one, two and
- 33:57three of a movie? Right? Right? You know? What exactly are
- 34:01they going to be doing here? Yeah? You know, because like one
- 34:07of the last I think I was talking to I was talking to my wife
- 34:08and son about Stranger Things, and like the last season the Stranger Things,
- 34:13it's like a couple of two hour episodes, you know, together, So
- 34:17yeah, who knows what. Well, now these kids are like thirty five
- 34:22years old and have kids, right, yeah, Yeah, it's gonna be
- 34:27really tough to do that next sea. Yeah, and as you know,
- 34:31as you go on in seasons two, you know, you know, Millie
- 34:35Bobby Brown commanded what you know, maybe like one hundred thousand dollars an episode
- 34:38during season one, and now you know, she's ridiculously famous and well yeah,
- 34:44and she keeps working with Netflix, so they love her. Yeah,
- 34:46so they want to they want to keep Well, the you Nola Holmes movies
- 34:52were really good. I really, I really liked those. She plays,
- 34:54yeah, she she Millie. Bobby Brown plays Nola Holmes. The uh then
- 35:00the Little Sister or the niece, I think Little Sister of Sherlock Holmes.
- 35:05And it's on Netflix. They're really fun movies. Okay, yeah, check
- 35:09those out. Check check them out. I caught so when Prodigy was on
- 35:16the air, I got up to four episodes and then I stopped. So
- 35:20I caught up to see to the fifth episode and I've stopped. Okay,
- 35:23so we'll see. Prodigy was fun, obviously geared towards kids, but it
- 35:30was had just enough, you know, it's It's Star Trek, which was
- 35:34enough to keep me, you know, engaged long enough, you know,
- 35:38to to watch the whole thing. And uh, season two is coming out
- 35:44eventually at some point, so they say, you know, well it's allegedly
- 35:47it's in the can, so I hope. So yeah, and but that
- 35:53doesn't mean that it's coming out Netflix spotted, so okay, okay, but
- 36:00we have seen projects that were filmed edited and then oh, by the way,
- 36:07this has never coming never going to see the light of day. Yeah,
- 36:08absolutely, absolutely, Well, let's let's get to feedback. Sure,
- 36:15yeah, listener feedback all right, So I wanted to share this for feedback.
- 36:28I posted this meme a few days ago. It's for those of you
- 36:31listening. It is a picture of the Star Trek Enterprise just being attacked.
- 36:37It's an inside shot of the of the bridge. The card and Riker and
- 36:42war were all just sparks everywhere, and the ship is yeah, it's it's
- 36:47shaken nuts start for sure. And the the quote is or the the caption
- 36:54is caption this with the last text you sent, and we had some pretty
- 37:00good ones. So this is from the Instagram account. One person wrote,
- 37:07just waiting on the last two drinks as everyone's dying. Another person wrote I
- 37:15only got four hours of sleep, but yeah, I'll be fine driving home.
- 37:21Yeah. Another one I'm not in the epping mood today. Yeah.
- 37:28My favorite one though, came from our threads account and somebody with that picture
- 37:34posted sweet, I don't have to go to the meeting tomorrow. That's great.
- 37:43Yeah, I just let me share this. We've got Chas Biz on
- 37:47the line, so let's bring him on there he is where that Hey?
- 38:00I love it. This is a Star Trek only guys Star Trek, right,
- 38:08So did you watch himk ultrue? I started it last night. Yeah,
- 38:15and then I woke up and it was over that, right, Yeah,
- 38:22I got came from some people who are into psychological thrillers, like but
- 38:34a lot lower. Yeah. I don't know where that ninety three percent came
- 38:37from. My wife likes that genre movie and she's like, yeah, I'm
- 38:40going to bed. This is boring. Yeah, okay, yeah, I'll
- 38:45try to watch this week maybe like bits and pieces, but I really did.
- 38:49I fell asleep. So I think if I want to see as Mount
- 38:53something else, I'll watch the Britney Spears movie. He was in that too.
- 38:58Oh okay, yeah check that out out Crossroads. Yeah yeah, Crossroads
- 39:04that Yeah, you can be a black Bolt to not say a word,
- 39:07so that's right. Yeah, and then what else was again Helen Wills?
- 39:16Yeah, he was in Helen Wheels for a long time. Yeah, so
- 39:20you want same in other shows? When is Yeah? My wife creed like,
- 39:28yeah, yep, it was boring. They you may have to review
- 39:36Crossroads. It's got not only as Mount, but it's got Zoe's Yep.
- 39:42Yeah, it's connection. There's it's seven degrees to Kevin Bacon right now?
- 39:47Oh boy? Yeah, yeah, you guys think we should interview or review
- 39:52Crossroads at some point. Okay, before you decide that, I think this,
- 40:00my wife says, Yep, I think you should review the numbers for
- 40:04this trek Cast episode and then decide if you want to review Crossroads. Yeah,
- 40:09we'll see, we'll see. I think Discovery Crossroads could be nice.
- 40:14Uh. Do you think more people have listened to this episode than singing mk
- 40:20Ultra? Yes? Oh yeah, probably probably. I wonder if they'll get
- 40:27the treck Cast bump maybe, like yeahs for the box why did why did
- 40:37twelve people watch this movie in the last week? Yeah? Yeah, yeah,
- 40:40let's make a sequel. Yeah. Oh no, our box office is
- 40:46now twenty seven hundred. How did we get there? Hey, that's the
- 40:52treck Cast bump, ladies and gentlemen. There you go, there you go.
- 40:57That sucks? Uh boy, Yeah, but next week Ghostbusters and then
- 41:04after that Discovery. Yeah, I think that'll bring it back connection to Ghostbusters
- 41:08and Star Trek, like which character would be connected to I feel like there's
- 41:15a crossover. I know, I'm sitting there thinking, I was like who
- 41:20and oh I didn't think about that. Yeah, there's been a lot of
- 41:22coming a crossovers with Star Trek. Yeah, but now I'm talking about actors
- 41:28that acted in Sea act connected to Ghostbusters. I don't know, but uh,
- 41:35that just made me think Paul Rudd needs to show up on lower decks.
- 41:38Yes he was in the nineties, who knows. Yeah, that guy's
- 41:44been everywhere. So I wonder if Paul Rudd ever did like a background Starfleet
- 41:49officer and like Deep Nine Voyager, if he did those, Yeah, that'd
- 41:55true. That's true, uniform on and everything. Yeah, it's the lead
- 42:00singer or drummer whoever from Against Rage, Against the Machine showed up and Voyager?
- 42:06Yeah, and then pet when Matt was all covered in what was he
- 42:10the fish guy on one episode? Oh yeah yeah, yeah, I was
- 42:16covered to makeup. You wouldn't even know. It's Iggy Pop that dies?
- 42:22Was it? What the King of Jordan is in one episode? Yeah?
- 42:24Yeah, yeah, yeah, I can pick your face, but I can't
- 42:30remember what episode he was in. Yeah, TG, I think okay,
- 42:34Yeah, there was a bunch on TG, more than probably any of the
- 42:37others. Yeah. Do you think the fact who was the only person in
- 42:44Star Trek to ever play himself? Stephen Hawkins? Yeah, Albert Einstein on
- 42:52that or or what's his name, Mark Twain. That's right, it went
- 42:59back got Sam Clemens. Hey for us, that is Marko. That is
- 43:07my favorite portrayal of Sam Clemens on TV. Yeah, he's such a dick,
- 43:17just runner around gosin problems. Yeah, I know people like that who
- 43:24think they constantly know better. Yeah, you know, they kind of made
- 43:30him in the ass. Did you see where people like they Yeah, several
- 43:37people dressed up as Samuel Clemens. Yes, that's a pretty good bit.
- 43:40That's a pretty good bit. I did see that they have officially released an
- 43:47officially licensed Mopsie just recently. Really, your knockoff Mopsie's like, you're not
- 43:55getting my moopsie? You hear that paramount book? Would you say? Move
- 44:02to see popcorn bucket? That's all. No, you put your hand in
- 44:07there, it'll it'll drink your bones. Yeah, or a triple one you
- 44:10get hair in your popcorn? Oh yeah, you don't want that. Nobody
- 44:14wants that. No, nobody wants the shuttle craft or we'll go off.
- 44:21You're eating spots brain, So no, I love it, Yeah, no
- 44:31at all. That's the hard I didn't find that. Uh apparently in a
- 44:37Star Trek comic book, they didn't like crossover with the Ghostbusters, but they
- 44:42made a ghost catching trap in one of the comic books. Oh really,
- 44:46okay, ghost trap is going to be the the bucket well one eckta one,
- 44:54I think. Yeah, there's a few different books. Yeah, there's
- 44:58like not everybody after the I can't talk about it after that one movie that
- 45:05buckets. Yeah, each each theater chain pretty much gets their own bucket.
- 45:10So yeah, so mine's just a cleanex holder right now. So uh huh
- 45:19that's what it is. Yes, that's what it is now when it's olden
- 45:22mm hmm. No. Nice. You want to bring up next week?
- 45:30You guys are doing Ghostbuster's right, Yes, yes we are. The bad
- 45:34thing is I won't be here. I might be here, but I might
- 45:37be on the road to feedback because my wife it's making me see Sleepless in
- 45:43Seattle at eleven a m. Next week, So oh no, yeah,
- 45:46I'm like, damn it, what I have to wake up so early to
- 45:51come on to see Ghostbusters. So they're playing they're doing a re like Sleepless
- 45:57and Seattle in the theater. Yeah, it's like brunch thing. Oh okay,
- 46:02okay, you have alcohol and like I don't drink in the morning,
- 46:07drag ass all day. But I uh. Earlier this week, I went
- 46:15to my buddy's fortieth birthday party. They had runted out of movie theater and
- 46:19we watched the original Planet of the Apes. Yeah, yeah, when were
- 46:25you talking about that? Yeah? Man, I I guess I realized I
- 46:30had never seen the movie all the way through clips. Yeah, and man,
- 46:37that movie it's weird man. Yeah, Darlton Essen totally over acting.
- 46:44Oh yeah, I almost feel bad for the hands off your damn dirty ape.
- 46:50Yeah all that. Some of the other lines too, like when they
- 46:55travel through time and they go further into the future, they have a female
- 47:01astronaut with them and she dies in time travel. Yeah, and and then
- 47:07he like later says at one point he's like, yeah, she was supposed
- 47:09to be our Eve, and we were gonna reproduce and repopulate with her,
- 47:14Like that's why you brought her a board. Obviously she's not a scientist,
- 47:19don't be silly. Yeah, there's three of them and then one of her
- 47:22women. We right to have more women if you're going to repopulate, Yeah,
- 47:29absolutely, Yeah, it was opposite apparently not what they were thinking.
- 47:35No, if you're think of their minds. It was more like trade you
- 47:40need more women. So the whole thing was just messed up. Man.
- 47:47Yeah, yeah it's good maybe though, I mean it's really good. I
- 47:53did like what there was a scene where two apes kiss and because it's it's
- 47:59bad makeup from then. I mean it looks great, but what's your little
- 48:02mouth clones? Yeah, they just smush against each other and you can just
- 48:07like visibly see it. Did they tongue? That wasn't that kind of okay?
- 48:15Yeah, it was cool to see it in the theater we went to
- 48:22in Spokane. It's called the Garland. It's a complete like art deco style,
- 48:25like from the nineteen forties. And oh that sounds cool. Yeah yeah,
- 48:30so it was neat to see it in that kind of setting. But
- 48:34yeah, last week I saw it was a Pull fiction so oh nice?
- 48:38Yeah nice? Then mine too, Yeah, I love Pull. Fisher's a
- 48:44thirty year anniversary or something like this. Oh is it really? Wow?
- 48:47Yes, came out in ninety four and like a bunch of theaters are showing
- 48:53it. Thanks a lot. Me feel so old, I know, right,
- 48:58but maybe it's so great. It's like that is that is a movie?
- 49:02That all you need is dialogue and just listen to him talk. And
- 49:07what they're saying is it's hilarious. You know that's true. Yeah, it's
- 49:10a good film, and it has a Star Trek connection because Honey Bunny played
- 49:15on the card last year. Yeah that's right. Well, now we've got
- 49:20to start connectiction. Yes, let's review fiction. Yeah, it'll be great.
- 49:27That's an awesome movie. Do podcasts you can make a warning on the
- 49:30podcast like adult Yeah, yeah, yeah, okay, yeah, yeah for
- 49:37an advisory stick around. You can't review it without using the word at least
- 49:42forty yeah, when they use other words at that time. A lot more
- 49:49milkshakes when we review it. Oh the five dollars milk shape, right,
- 49:53you know, tasty burger? Yeah? Was that Nick Royal with cheese?
- 50:00Yeah, that's such a great. Now I'm going to Paris next month.
- 50:07I'm going to see if that's really true. Oh yeah, McDonald's. Yea,
- 50:14if it's right. I was just watching a CNBC article about how fast
- 50:21food has taken over France American fast food and outside of the US, France
- 50:28is the number one country for buying fast food. Wow. Yeah, it's
- 50:34crazy, Like they love our fast food. But one of the big differences
- 50:37is France has got like strict rules about like preservatives and food, so like
- 50:44their fast food is a lot higher quality than ours. Yeah, so that's
- 50:49part of the reason why it just tastes better. So you couldn't leave like
- 50:52a bucket of McDonald's fries on the shelf for ten years and they wouldn't change
- 50:55type of thing. Correct, Correct, there's a go back after a few
- 51:00days. Pretious. Yeah, but they love our KFC, they love our
- 51:07our McDonald's. Yeah. McDonald's I think is like the number one, and
- 51:10then right after that is Burger King Like it's it's pretty cool. Yeah,
- 51:16So chances are you going to take a picture? We gotta you gotta take
- 51:20a picture of yourself in front of the Eiffel Tower with your truck cast head
- 51:22on. Yeah, absolutely, hat. Yeah, yeah, gotta take You
- 51:28gotta take your hat and post, you know, post it on the Facebook
- 51:30group. That's right Eiffel. No think you're part of the cast because it's
- 51:36closer over there. I guess I have to wear it on the flight.
- 51:38So yeah, my wife, we got to pack light and I'm like,
- 51:43what do you mean we're going? Yeah, because I'm thinking about the crews.
- 51:49I want to I want to take my trick Cat shirt on the cruise
- 51:51when we go. Oh yeah cast shirt. You know. Yeah, there's
- 51:58a few new shirt styles on the on the web said, I haven't mentioned
- 52:00that, but yeah, new designs. Yeah yeah, I've got I ordered
- 52:06the trek Cast uh motorcycle Best patch and I gotta yeah, yeah, I
- 52:09got that in. I gotta. I still have to put that on the
- 52:13best but right when I do, I'll take a picture of it. Okay,
- 52:17uh yeah, anything else, just this, when's the treck Cast flame
- 52:22thrower coming out? It's not a flamethrower because a flamethrower is illegal to sell.
- 52:27But you can say not a flamethrower and then it's fine. Not a
- 52:30yeah bug remover or yeah check cast the lunch spot. Right. I bought
- 52:43a friend of mine a lightsaber, and all it is is it's just a
- 52:45giant lighter that shoots out a giant flame. Oh wow, yeah, would
- 52:52you guys try to burn with it? Uh? Well, it took us
- 52:54for fluid put in it, but I really it's a special fluid. So
- 53:00it's a it's a special type of utane that like the the spigot for it
- 53:06is very specific, so we had Mutts to get it. Yeah yeah,
- 53:12it's just regular running around the woods, burned out, and he's really the
- 53:20grillian, so I got it for him to light up his grill. That's
- 53:24awesome because I told, you know, what's cooler than I'm gonna barbecue.
- 53:28But I'm gonna barbecue with my lightsaber. So right, Actually, you know
- 53:37those little electric ones that have the little sparks or oh yeah yeah, don't
- 53:43light your fireplace with one of those, or you know, especially have gas
- 53:49exploding. That could be problems sin my leg. Yeah yeah, I would
- 53:58know. I think you've got away lucky with that then yeah, yeah,
- 54:05not doing that again my life. Yeah. Oh boy, Well thanks for
- 54:13being on Chaz Viz. Okay, thanks guys, but well yeah, so
- 54:23yeah, as we're wrapping up, for those of you who want to leave
- 54:28us a phone number or phone voicemail, give us a call five steven zero
- 54:32six six one zero zero zero one. That will be our voicemail line.
