- 0:16Speaker 1: Office for the District of New Mexico. The United States
- 0:21Speaker 1: has ninety three US Attorney's offices that serve the ninety

- 0:29Speaker 1: of Columbia, Puerto Rico, the US Virgin Islands, Guam, and
- 0:33Speaker 1: the Northern Mariana Islands. Each office is led by a
- 0:37Speaker 1: US attorney who answers to the Attorney General of the
- 0:40Speaker 1: United States and acts as the chief federal law enforcement
- 0:44Speaker 1: officer in their district and represents the federal government in
- 0:47Speaker 1: both criminal prosecutions and civil litigation. Nicknamed the Sovereign District
- 0:53Speaker 1: of New York by US attorneys across the country, the
- 0:57Speaker 1: Southern District of New York is widely considered the former
- 1:00Speaker 1: US Attorney's Office and is known for its independence, influence,
- 1:04Speaker 1: and ability to prosecute the biggest and most complex cases.
- 1:10Speaker 1: STNY ranks high in prestige at the US Department of Justice.
- 1:14Speaker 1: Reflecting that standing, in nineteen eighty three, Rudy Giuliani, as

- 1:22Speaker 1: ranking official at the US Department of Justice, was promoted
- 1:26Speaker 1: to US Attorney for the Southern District of New York.
- 1:31Speaker 1: On paper, the authorities and responsibilities of each of these

- 1:38Speaker 1: as the chief federal law enforcement officer and principal litigator
- 1:42Speaker 1: in their respective judicial districts, holding course statutory power over

- 3:08Speaker 1: are appointed by the President of the United States for
- 3:11Speaker 1: a term of four years, with appointments subject to confirmation
- 3:15Speaker 1: by the Senate. A U S Attorney continues in office
- 3:19Speaker 1: beyond the appointed term until a successor is appointed and qualified.

- 6:30Speaker 1: and six. The interview was conducted in Austin, Texas. Jane
- 6:35Speaker 1: Doe stated that she met Epstein in Phoenix through her sister,
- 6:38Speaker 1: who worked for him in New York. Jane Doe was
- 6:41Speaker 1: in her junior year of high school at the time.
- 6:44Speaker 1: Epstein invited her to travel to New York. Epstein offered
- 6:47Speaker 1: to assist Jane Doe with her college applications and tuition fees.
- 6:52Speaker 1: Epstein purchased airfare from Phoenix to New York. Jane Doe
- 6:57Speaker 1: flew to New York and stayed with her sister in
- 6:59Speaker 1: the West Village. Jane Doe and her sister met Epstein
- 7:02Speaker 1: at his residence, where he offered them a bottle of champagne.
- 7:06Speaker 1: Epstein took him to see Phantom of the Opera and
- 7:09Speaker 1: on the way offered more champagne. At a later time,
- 7:13Speaker 1: Epstein took them to see a movie. During the movie,
- 7:16Speaker 1: Epstein held and pressed her hand, which made her feel uncomfortable. Later,
- 7:21Speaker 1: Epstein or Maxwell purchased an airline ticket for her to
- 7:24Speaker 1: fly to Santa Fe, New Mexico, and when she arrived
- 7:27Speaker 1: in Santa Fe, the oral ranch manager picked her up.
- 7:30Speaker 1: When she arrived at the ranch, there were some discussions
- 7:33Speaker 1: about where she was going to stay on the property,
- 7:36Speaker 1: and Epstein made it clear she'd be staying with them.
- 7:39Speaker 1: She was the only guest at that ranch. During her visit,
- 7:42Speaker 1: Epstein and Maxwell took her to town for some shopping.
- 7:45Speaker 1: During the evening, Epstein asked if she would provide him
- 7:48Speaker 1: with a foot massage. Maxwell gave a demonstration. Jane Doe
- 7:53Speaker 1: then gave Epstein a foot massage. Maxwell later asked Jane
- 7:57Speaker 1: Doe to undress so that Maxwell could give her a massage.
- 8:01Speaker 1: Jane Doe removed her clothing, leaving only her underwear on.
- 8:05Speaker 1: Maxwell completed the massage by rubbing her upper body, including
- 8:09Speaker 1: her breast. The next morning, Epstein came into Jane Doe's
- 8:12Speaker 1: room and got into bed with her under the covers.
- 8:15Speaker 1: They were both dressed. Later that night, they went to
- 8:18Speaker 1: a movie, during which Epstein stroked and cressed her hand,
- 8:21Speaker 1: and put his hand on Jane Doe's thigh. Later that night,
- 8:25Speaker 1: Epstein came into Jane Doe's room, sat on her bed,
- 8:28Speaker 1: stroked Jane Doe's hair, and told her how beautiful she was.
- 8:34Speaker 1: On February thirteenth, two thousand and seven, the FBI interviewed
- 8:37Speaker 1: Bryce Gordon at Zorro Ranch. Gordon stated that he and
- 8:41Speaker 1: his wife had been managing the ranch for approximately four years.
- 8:45Speaker 1: He stated that there were five or six full time
- 8:48Speaker 1: employees at the ranch, as well as some seasonal employees.
- 8:52Speaker 1: He also stated that Epstein spent approximately fifty days a
- 8:56Speaker 1: year at the ranch, staying usually for two to three
- 8:59Speaker 1: week stretches and provided only two days notice before arriving.
- 9:04Speaker 1: Gordon stated that Epstein was usually accompanied by his personal assistant,
- 9:08Speaker 1: his bodyguard, friends, personal trainer, and sometimes as messuss. He
- 9:13Speaker 1: stated that the messuses were not normally flown to the ranch,
- 9:16Speaker 1: but were hired by Gordon and another whose name was
- 9:19Speaker 1: redacted and who kept the financial records and usually arranged
- 9:23Speaker 1: the massages. Gordon stated that the names of the messuses
- 9:27Speaker 1: were usually obtained from ten thousand Ways Day SPA or
- 9:30Speaker 1: by referrals, and that they were all checked out and
- 9:33Speaker 1: were professionally licensed massage therapists. He stated that they had
- 9:38Speaker 1: used approximately five different massage therapists. Before Gordon was able
- 9:42Speaker 1: to share payment records with the FBI, he received a
- 9:45Speaker 1: call from the main office which told them he was
- 9:48Speaker 1: no longer permitted to speak to the FBI. On September
- 9:53Speaker 1: twenty fourth, two thousand and seven, the US Attorney's Office
- 9:56Speaker 1: for the Southern District of Florida, then headed by US
- 9:59Speaker 1: Attorney Alexander Acosta, entered into a non prosecution agreement, agreeing
- 10:04Speaker 1: to dismiss and not further prosecute Epstein, Groff, and others
- 10:08Speaker 1: whose names had been redacted for any of the above
- 10:12Speaker 1: reference federal offenses, provided that Epstein plead guilty to a
- 10:16Speaker 1: Florida state charge of solicitation of prostitution, subject to certain
- 10:20Speaker 1: sentencing parameters and other conditions. To date, the Commission has
- 10:25Speaker 1: been unable to obtain any information as to whether the
- 10:28Speaker 1: FBI or any other investigative agency conducted any further investigation
- 10:34Speaker 1: into potentially unlawful conduct by Epstein or ad Zoro Ranch
- 10:38Speaker 1: following the interview of Bryce Gordon in February of two
- 10:41Speaker 1: thousand and seven. It's unknown at this time whether information
- 10:45Speaker 1: obtained by the FBI in its two thousand and six
- 10:49Speaker 1: seven investigation of Epstein and others was shared with any
- 10:52Speaker 1: New Mexico US attorney. All Right, folks, we're going to
- 10:56Speaker 1: wrap up right here, and in the next episode, we're
