- 0:12Speaker 2: And now handle on the news. Ladies and gentlemen, here's
- 0:17Speaker 2: Bill Handle. Yep, it is a two day July seventh.
- 0:25Speaker 2: Good morning one and all, and another day as we
- 0:30Speaker 2: start another show for KLOSE one and the rest of
- 0:35Speaker 2: you will Good morning, Bill Handle, Good morning. Hey. I
- 0:39Speaker 2: have to give you some kudos here, thank you, and
- 0:42Speaker 2: I don't often do that. You take me making fun
- 0:46Speaker 2: of you very graciously and a good sense of humor,
- 0:51Speaker 2: and it is it really is appreciated because you know,
- 0:56Speaker 2: obviously you were listening you people with sening and I
- 1:00Speaker 2: make a lot of fun of your weight. In reality
- 1:05Speaker 2: you really well you really are as fat as I say,
- 1:07Speaker 2: and probably a little bit more. But it's, uh, it
- 1:11Speaker 2: is appreciated. How you take it seriously. Oh boy, thank you,
- 1:16Speaker 2: you slob of a human being.
- 1:17Speaker 1: Wow.
- 1:18Speaker 2: Yeah, continue, continue on. A lot of people wouldn't take
- 1:25Speaker 2: it amy if you were incredibly overweight, would or marginally
- 1:32Speaker 2: over eight which you're not, because I can't even make
- 1:34Speaker 2: fun of you because you're you are slender and tall.
- 1:38Speaker 2: Would you take it with a good grace? Hell, Will
- 1:40Speaker 2: does exactly, and Will does, and Neil, if you were
- 1:46Speaker 2: as fat as Will, which you have been, although now
- 1:50Speaker 2: losing a tremendous amount of weight because of the Bariactra surgery.
- 1:54Speaker 2: Oh yeah, you were okay. When I was making fun
- 1:56Speaker 2: of weight, you would make you would then make fun
- 1:58Speaker 2: of me and my weight.
- 1:59Speaker 3: Not only do I not give a rodents whole, I
- 2:03Speaker 3: don't listen to you when it comes to any of
- 2:05Speaker 3: that stuff because I know it comes from your own insecurity.
- 2:09Speaker 3: And that's okay, Bill, life comes from my own insecurity.
- 2:13Speaker 3: I'm sorry you weren't hugged. And you know what I
- 2:15Speaker 3: was in the studio for Friday, you were out. Anne
- 2:19Speaker 3: is a tiny, little human tiny, she is nothing. If
- 2:24Speaker 3: she's one, you've got to get into You have to
- 2:28Speaker 3: get into the studio more.
- 2:30Speaker 2: She's a keeaching I know, I know has slender. Yeah,
- 2:36Speaker 2: I know. Anne has lost uh you know check. She's
- 2:41Speaker 2: not a big person. No, she has never been a
- 2:43Speaker 2: big person. Now she has become a small person.
- 2:47Speaker 4: We're talking small.
- 2:49Speaker 2: We're not talking small small shed a break. Lindsey is small.
- 2:56Speaker 2: My my wife weighs one hundred and five pounds. That
- 2:58Speaker 2: is small. I mean Lindsey is a true spinner. She
- 3:03Speaker 2: is small man.
- 3:05Speaker 4: I'm out six eight.
- 3:11Speaker 2: Cono, good morning. Nope, yeah, Conor doesn't have a weight problem. Okay,
- 3:17Speaker 2: I think I've said hello to one and all to everybody. Oh,
- 3:22Speaker 2: by the way, Amy that interview did with Christo Fernandez,
- 3:26Speaker 2: who is one of the stars of ted Lassoi plays Rojas.
- 3:30Speaker 4: Danny Rojas.
- 3:31Speaker 2: Danny Rojas. I probably have watched ted Lasso three times,
- 3:36Speaker 2: which I never do. It can be. It's certainly among
- 3:39Speaker 2: the five top TV shows I have ever watched in
- 3:44Speaker 2: my life. Yep, I agree, lighting, the comedy, the cleverness,
- 3:51Speaker 2: I beat all of it. It is. People were telling
- 3:55Speaker 2: me for years, you got to watch Deddy, you have
- 3:57Speaker 2: to watch ted Lasso, you have to watch ted Lasso
- 3:59Speaker 2: for the last couple years. And I didn't until Channel
- 4:02Speaker 2: Surfing and oh okay, there's ted Lasso. My god, do
- 4:05Speaker 2: you become addicted to that? What a show? What a show? Yeah?
- 4:09Speaker 5: And Danny Rojas is one of my favorite characters. I mean,
- 4:12Speaker 5: he's just and he genuinely seems like that is Danny
- 4:17Speaker 5: Rojas and bodies.
- 4:19Speaker 2: Well his life. Yeah, really enjoyed it. When he killed
- 4:22Speaker 2: the mascot. I think killed the dog the y Yeah, yeah,
- 4:28Speaker 2: you got the yips. And then when they had the
- 4:31Speaker 2: dog that replaced the dog wearing a helmet to protect himself.
- 4:36Speaker 2: It was just very very funny. Anyway, so well worth watching.
- 4:40Speaker 2: And season next season's coming up, isn't it?
- 4:43Speaker 4: Yeah?
- 4:44Speaker 2: Season four? Now I thought that the show had ended
- 4:47Speaker 2: ended because it was the ending of a show it did.
- 4:50Speaker 2: I mean, where do you go from there?
- 4:52Speaker 4: You start up a new show?
- 4:54Speaker 2: No, I understand, but you talk about is it just
- 4:56Speaker 2: going to be a continuation?
- 4:59Speaker 5: Well now no, they've got the trailers out and I
- 5:01Speaker 5: think it's is it? Does it drop in August? And
- 5:05Speaker 5: it's Ted's coming back and he's going to coach a
- 5:08Speaker 5: women's football team.
- 5:10Speaker 2: Because he ended up coaching a little girls football team
- 5:13Speaker 2: in wherever the hell he comes from now off season
- 5:18Speaker 2: or when he quit? All right, anyway, I will go on.
- 5:20Speaker 2: I'm sure is Crystal part of it? No, of course not,
- 5:23Speaker 2: unless Chrystal has a sex change, Crystal becomes a trance,
- 5:26Speaker 2: which you probably won't. All right, guys, let's do it.
- 5:29Speaker 2: We've got tons of news to talk about, and let's
- 5:34Speaker 2: start with handle on the news, Amy, Neil and me Lee. Sorry,
- 5:42Speaker 2: oh yeah, I don't know. If you watch yesterday, I did,
- 5:46Speaker 2: then you know the US looked pitiful against Belgium. It
- 5:51Speaker 2: was the US looked like a high school team. It
- 5:55Speaker 2: just it just didn't didn't work at all. Just well,
- 6:00Speaker 2: Belgium is one of the top ten teams in the
- 6:02Speaker 2: world and the United States is not even close. It
- 6:05Speaker 2: was sort of a dream that was going to be
- 6:08Speaker 2: had by Americans. Didn't happen. Didn't happen, I mean, clearly outclassed, outplayed.
- 6:15Speaker 2: Any comments on that, I still love them. Who are
- 6:20Speaker 2: the Americans? No, I hate him now? A bunch of losers? Yeah,
- 6:26Speaker 2: I am taking a page off out of our president's playbook. Losers.
- 6:32Speaker 4: He didn't say that.
- 6:35Speaker 2: No, I just in general, describe just in general. Okay,
- 6:38Speaker 2: just in general. Yeah, No, I'm saying that losers.
- 6:42Speaker 5: Speaking of the President, Trump is touchdown in Turkey. He
- 6:46Speaker 5: arrived in Anchora to meet with his fellow NATO leaders
- 6:50Speaker 5: at a summit. The Alliance is trying to persuade Trump
- 6:53Speaker 5: that their countries are actively increasing their military capabilities. Trump,
- 6:58Speaker 5: of course been demanding that the two day summit is
- 7:01Speaker 5: happening in Anchor to showcase a series of military projects
- 7:05Speaker 5: worth billions of dollars to try to persuade Trump that
- 7:09Speaker 5: they're making stronger Europe and stronger NATO.
- 7:12Speaker 2: Yeah, I'm going to do more of this at seven o'clock.
- 7:15Speaker 2: I'm actually going to defend Trump on this, which I
- 7:17Speaker 2: don't often do. But I think that the President made
- 7:23Speaker 2: and is moving in the right direction, not particularly the
- 7:25Speaker 2: way he does it. He's pretty ham handed the way
- 7:29Speaker 2: he does it, and it's not the gracious way in
- 7:31Speaker 2: the world. But the bottom line is, yeah, you know,
- 7:33Speaker 2: a lot of that to do with the Article five
- 7:36Speaker 2: of the NATO Treaty, in which an attack on one
- 7:39Speaker 2: country is an attack on all countries and therefore all
- 7:43Speaker 2: countries have to meet. And I think what there are
- 7:47Speaker 2: thirty eight NATO countries. Now, what a lot of people
- 7:51Speaker 2: don't know is if a NATO country is attacked and
- 7:55Speaker 2: all countries have to go to the defense of that
- 7:59Speaker 2: one country, of all have been all have been attacked
- 8:02Speaker 2: according to Article five, it's a unanimous decision that has
- 8:06Speaker 2: to go. Turkey would never Turkey is more anti NATO
- 8:11Speaker 2: than it is NATO, even though it is a member
- 8:13Speaker 2: of NATO. Turkey and Putin are best friends. Ernigon two
- 8:20Speaker 2: hang out together can you be booted from NATO? Yeah,
- 8:24Speaker 2: I think you can. Why don't they boot Turkey because
- 8:28Speaker 2: NATO is so screwed up? It's you know, the president
- 8:32Speaker 2: is right, NATO is losers. There are losers. All right,
- 8:39Speaker 2: let's do one more story. All right, you're creating.
- 8:42Speaker 3: And President Vladimir Zelenski is renewing his calls. Obviously there's
- 8:47Speaker 3: a lot going on in the NATO summit, so a
- 8:50Speaker 3: good time to speak up. He's renewed his calls for
- 8:53Speaker 3: more patriot missiles yesterday, and this comes after Russia's latest
- 8:59Speaker 3: missile attate killed twelve people, injured more than fifty there
- 9:02Speaker 3: in Kiev just Sunday night. So he goes on to
- 9:07Speaker 3: say it's critical, it's critically important to the world. Foremost
- 9:12Speaker 3: United States and European partners went on to say, the
- 9:16Speaker 3: United States and Europe have enough strength to stop this terror.
- 9:20Speaker 2: Yeah, but that means the United States and Europe are
- 9:23Speaker 2: going to have to arm Kiev to the hilt, which
- 9:26Speaker 2: Europe has been. The United States says not it has
- 9:30Speaker 2: pulled back again pursue it. To the President's view and
- 9:35Speaker 2: how he looks at international relations, it's very interesting what's
- 9:38Speaker 2: going on and if Kiev is not armed to the hilt,
- 9:45Speaker 2: Whoton may win on this one. He may, although he's
- 9:49Speaker 2: already lost. And then that's another story we will cover
- 9:52Speaker 2: at some point.
- 9:53Speaker 3: Okay, all right, President Donald Trump yesterday saught to take
- 9:57Speaker 3: credit for recent price cuts by walm So you know,
- 10:03Speaker 3: a company that's doing price cuts is going to come
- 10:06Speaker 3: out with their own statement, right, And the statement they
- 10:09Speaker 3: came out with made no mention of the Administration's involvement
- 10:14Speaker 3: in its decision. But Trump had said, I have just
- 10:18Speaker 3: been informed that one of the biggest, best and smartest
- 10:21Speaker 3: retailers in America, Walmart, will be lowering prices by a
- 10:25Speaker 3: lot at my administration's request, to celebrate our Great nations
- 10:31Speaker 3: two hundred and fiftieth birthday. Walmart will in particular be
- 10:35Speaker 3: dropping the price for a pound of ground beef by
- 10:39Speaker 3: almost fifteen percent, among many other products.
- 10:44Speaker 2: But see, here's one of the reasons I don't believe
- 10:48Speaker 2: that Walmart acceeded to his phone call or they're saying, no,
- 10:54Speaker 2: we had nothing to do with our price stop, has
- 10:58Speaker 2: nothing to do with the administration's request, is because when
- 11:01Speaker 2: Trump called the Belgian soccer team and insisted they drop
- 11:05Speaker 2: the game, they refused to do it. You go, there
- 11:09Speaker 2: goes the president's power. I thought he had some power. Eh. No,
- 11:15Speaker 2: Belgian still won. Okay, well said.
- 11:22Speaker 5: I guess yeah, Texas can keep tabs on the tots.
- 11:26Speaker 5: The Supreme Court has decided to or actually declined. The
- 11:31Speaker 5: Supreme Court Court declined to block Texas from enforcing a
- 11:34Speaker 5: state law requiring app stores to verify users' ages and
- 11:40Speaker 5: make sure the kids get parental consent if they want
- 11:43Speaker 5: to download apps or make in app purchases on their
- 11:46Speaker 5: mobile phones. The plaintiffs' lawyers had argued that the law
- 11:50Speaker 5: impermissively seeks to limit access to contact content protected by
- 11:55Speaker 5: the First Amendment.
- 11:57Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 11:57Speaker 2: Usually First Amendment stuff flow, except for religious stuff with
- 12:02Speaker 2: this court. But the Court said, yeah, I mean it's
- 12:06Speaker 2: legitimate to uh for minors to not be able to
- 12:11Speaker 2: go online to download apps or make the in app purchases.
- 12:17Speaker 2: You know what. I'm okay with that. I have no
- 12:20Speaker 2: problem with that. And the First Amendment. Pardon, how is
- 12:25Speaker 2: that first Amendment? Why could we could we could access
- 12:29Speaker 2: to public information to stop access is the argument. It's
- 12:36Speaker 2: still first Amendment. It's not just stating what is first Amendment.
- 12:40Speaker 2: For example, the pornography cases that came down in the
- 12:43Speaker 2: seventies allowing porno. We're both the production and the crimes
- 12:48Speaker 2: that people were accused of of just receiving it. So uh, yeah,
- 12:54Speaker 2: it's it's First Amendment argument. I don't think it flies.
- 12:57Speaker 2: I agree with the State of Texas, and I agree
- 13:00Speaker 2: with a Supreme Court said.
- 13:04Speaker 3: All right to Xbox, a big gaming company is cutting
- 13:09Speaker 3: thirty two hundred jobs. There's a lot of struggles going on.
- 13:13Speaker 3: So this is a Microsoft video game division and it
- 13:16Speaker 3: plans to eliminate those jobs. Basically about twenty percent of
- 13:19Speaker 3: its staff staff over the next year is part of
- 13:23Speaker 3: these reorganizations trying to revive the company because their games
- 13:28Speaker 3: are lagging right now apparently, so they are taking on
- 13:32Speaker 3: buying up some other companies. They have an acquisition of
- 13:36Speaker 3: sixty nine billion by the way of Activision Blizzard, and
- 13:41Speaker 3: they own like a huge game called Call of Duty.
- 13:45Speaker 3: It's one of their most famous ones. But you've got
- 13:49Speaker 3: the rivals are Sony PlayStation, Nintendo Switch which is a
- 13:53Speaker 3: smaller unit, and Steam that's a digital storefront for PC games.
- 13:58Speaker 2: And they're yeah, they're just not making it enough money.
- 14:00Speaker 2: There aren't enough titles coming out and they're just losing
- 14:03Speaker 2: market share. And the fact they paid sixty nine billion
- 14:07Speaker 2: dollars for Blizzard three years ago, that's a little questionable.
- 14:12Speaker 2: I think they overpaid, you know, as much like must
- 14:15Speaker 2: paying forty four billion dollars for Twitter at the time,
- 14:19Speaker 2: just a touch over paid. It was worth about half
- 14:22Speaker 2: of that at the time. And Monsanto or Bayer bought Monsanto,
- 14:27Speaker 2: and they bought all the lawsuits regarding Roundup Boy. There
- 14:30Speaker 2: was a good deal. Sometimes companies just blow it. That's
- 14:38Speaker 2: they just I think that's what happened here. And so
- 14:42Speaker 2: they're cutting all these jobs. I think they're going to
- 14:45Speaker 2: come back because it's going to probably spend tons of money.
- 14:48Speaker 4: Fans are fuming over the flume. It's called a flume ride.
- 14:53Speaker 5: Pirates of the Caribbean facing a lot of backlash on
- 14:57Speaker 5: social media over a renovation. Pirates reopened late last month
- 15:05Speaker 5: and in it is a new high tech animatronic in
- 15:09Speaker 5: the grotto. Now that's where there's a skeleton sitting on
- 15:13Speaker 5: top of a pile of money.
- 15:15Speaker 2: Also, this is the bad one, isn't it.
- 15:17Speaker 4: Where this is not the one in the bed. This
- 15:19Speaker 4: is different.
- 15:20Speaker 5: This is the one where he's sitting on all the
- 15:22Speaker 5: gold coins. So in the new version of it, the
- 15:27Speaker 5: pirate transforms from a living soul into a skeleton after
- 15:32Speaker 5: he picks up a cursed gold coin. A lot of
- 15:36Speaker 5: people are criticizing the technology. They say that the new
- 15:40Speaker 5: addition is disrupted the otherwise somber haunting scene. And one
- 15:45Speaker 5: guy on Instagram said, imagineers don't get what that original
- 15:50Speaker 5: skeleton represented, and that is obsession to the point of
- 15:53Speaker 5: foregoing food and water to sleep and die admiring the gold.
- 15:58Speaker 2: Yeah, it's also old school, and sometimes when you're used
- 16:02Speaker 2: to something, you know, for example, if you see a
- 16:05Speaker 2: modern day rendition of Jesus in a leisure suit, you're going, no,
- 16:09Speaker 2: I don't think that works. I'd rather have you know
- 16:12Speaker 2: Jesus in those robes. It's just old school. It's like
- 16:18Speaker 2: old school the playground. You remember those merry go round
- 16:21Speaker 2: things where you would spin and hang on to that. Yeah,
- 16:27Speaker 2: that's that was a science class. That's where I was
- 16:30Speaker 2: taught centrifugal force. Because as you were spinning around and
- 16:35Speaker 2: then the vomit would fly around. The science issue we go,
- 16:39Speaker 2: teacher will go, you see that's science. Okay, Okay, So
- 16:45Speaker 2: it's quite a visual leisure suit on Jesus.
- 16:47Speaker 5: Okay, we were talking about how loud the fourth of
- 16:53Speaker 5: July was, how it sounded like Beirut. Well, apparently it
- 16:56Speaker 5: looked that way too, because the illegal fireworks that lit
- 16:59Speaker 5: up the night sky in Los Angeles could be seen
- 17:03Speaker 5: from space. NASA shared video of the Out of this
- 17:08Speaker 5: worldview from the International Space Station as it orbited over
- 17:12Speaker 5: southern California, a celebration so bright it reached all the
- 17:16Speaker 5: way to space, said NASA.
- 17:19Speaker 2: This year has been particularly brutal when it came to
- 17:24Speaker 2: the level and the number of fireworks that were done
- 17:29Speaker 2: at home, because I'm thinking there's more than just the
- 17:33Speaker 2: fireworks that the commercial fireworks and China. You reported on
- 17:37Speaker 2: this the death of that woman and a house blew up.
- 17:41Speaker 2: I didn't know this, but in Newport Beach four hundred
- 17:43Speaker 2: people were arrested.
- 17:45Speaker 4: Yes, we had that in the news all day yesterday.
- 17:47Speaker 2: Yeah, because I wasn't listening at that time, obviously, you know,
- 17:51Speaker 2: occasionally I listened to you, you know, by mistake, you know,
- 17:55Speaker 2: it just so happens, like channel surfing. But it's been
- 17:58Speaker 2: particularly bad. Well, I told you that next door there
- 18:03Speaker 2: was one boom that went off and my dog, my
- 18:08Speaker 2: little one that went cowering into the corner. She still
- 18:12Speaker 2: is suffering from PTSD. It was it was tough.
- 18:19Speaker 5: Turn out the lights. The party is over. Cuba had
- 18:24Speaker 5: a nationwide blackout yesterday. It's facing an ongoing energy crisis,
- 18:29Speaker 5: which has been made worse by an effective US blockade
- 18:33Speaker 5: of fuel shipments. Cuba's energy ministry says the national electric
- 18:38Speaker 5: grid has suffered a total collapse. They're working on it again.
- 18:42Speaker 5: The country's power crisis got worse this year after the
- 18:45Speaker 5: US forced Cuba's main suppliers to stop oil shipments in March.
- 18:50Speaker 2: You know, I don't quite understand this, because what threat
- 18:54Speaker 2: is Cuba to us? All Right? I think the reason
- 19:00Speaker 2: that's given for Cuba to still be this para is
- 19:05Speaker 2: maybe because they're so close to us, and it's a government,
- 19:09Speaker 2: a communist slash communist government. But you know, the United
- 19:15Speaker 2: States has tons of allies and we do business with
- 19:19Speaker 2: complete desk spots around the world, but there are not
- 19:23Speaker 2: ninety miles away. And so I've never understood why it's
- 19:28Speaker 2: gotten so crazy the US against Cuba, and this is
- 19:31Speaker 2: part of it. And Cuba relies on that oil in
- 19:34Speaker 2: the US. Not only doesn't sell oil to Cuba, but
- 19:38Speaker 2: stops oil from being sold by other countries because of
- 19:40Speaker 2: the influence it has. And Venezuela, well, what the US
- 19:43Speaker 2: did with Venezuela and part of the deal with Venezuela
- 19:47Speaker 2: is you stop selling oil to Cuba, period done, hard stop.
- 19:54Speaker 5: Senator Mitch McConnell, what is he up to? Well, apparently
- 20:00Speaker 5: he's continuing to recover, but not a lot of details
- 20:03Speaker 5: are being released after his lengthy hospital stay. Staff said
- 20:08Speaker 5: that last week the Senator is continuing his recovery while
- 20:12Speaker 5: Senate is out of session, but his office hasn't released
- 20:15Speaker 5: any details about his condition. It's been in the hospital
- 20:19Speaker 5: for weeks. Remember we got the nine to one one
- 20:22Speaker 5: calls saying that he was found unresponsive in his house
- 20:28Speaker 5: back on June fourteenth, and apparently they were saying he
- 20:31Speaker 5: may have had a heart attack. But again, the details
- 20:33Speaker 5: are very scarce. We don't really know what's going on.
- 20:38Speaker 2: Yeah, they're keeping it secret. He's also eighty four years
- 20:43Speaker 2: old too, and not a young eighty four either. He's yeah,
- 20:50Speaker 2: he's gotten old pretty quickly. You saw him at press
- 20:53Speaker 2: conference where he just zoned out and throws out say
- 20:56Speaker 2: anything flows out throws up and zoned out at the
- 21:00Speaker 2: same time and just wasn't there and.
- 21:02Speaker 4: So and that was a couple of years ago.
- 21:05Speaker 2: Yeah, and it hasn't been getting good for him. He's
- 21:08Speaker 2: the longest serving Senate majority leaver leader in history. Wow,
- 21:15Speaker 2: that's impressive. You know, there are senators that have lasted
- 21:18Speaker 2: into their nineties. Isn't that fun? And then there are
- 21:24Speaker 2: presidents that have lasted into their eighties. Oh, okay, we
- 21:28Speaker 2: have one of those.
- 21:29Speaker 4: And we had one just before that too.
- 21:31Speaker 2: Yeah, but certainly you can't argue about the president zoning
- 21:36Speaker 2: out not being there. President is there a matter of fact,
- 21:39Speaker 2: I'm going to do a topic on the president, and
- 21:41Speaker 2: that is the NATO bashing and threatening to come out
- 21:43Speaker 2: of NATO and what's going on at the NATO summit
