- 2:35[SPEAKER_02]: Uh, her ults on a night where, um, I think we both predicted it.
- 2:39[SPEAKER_02]: I think most fans predicted how that opening ceremony would go.
- 2:42[SPEAKER_02]: The cheers would be there.
- 2:43[SPEAKER_02]: They, you know, I think I tweeted it out.
- 2:46[SPEAKER_02]: You tweeted it out that the fans would
- 2:55[SPEAKER_02]: here very clearly through the TV, if you weren't at the game, and then of course the second he touched the puck after a buck drop.
- 3:02[SPEAKER_02]: It was almost comical the booze game.
- 3:05[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I think it all went according to plan and it's exactly what I would have done if I were at the game and I commend Saber's fans for sticking to it and sticking to their guns and
- 3:24[SPEAKER_01]: I would say fake for the purposes of grandeur right like everybody's will has reason to be upset with Jack I go and that's probably not going to go away anytime soon and I felt like the booze maybe late in the game maybe it was anxiety given the comeback from Vegas tapered a little bit.
- 3:41[SPEAKER_01]: But I think at this point, everybody's matured a little bit.
- 3:44[SPEAKER_01]: It's not nearly as animosity fueled as it once was.
- 3:49[SPEAKER_01]: And we can all just kind of go our separate ways, especially with the savers being as good as they are right now.
- 3:56[SPEAKER_01]: Officially, two points out of first place in the Atlantic Division.
- 4:01[SPEAKER_01]: Hellhasts frozen over, hellhath frozen over.
- 4:05[SPEAKER_01]: And the savers are,
- 4:08[SPEAKER_01]: a win away from it not point to percentage wise because the lightning of three games in hand, but at least just by points two points out of first place in the Atlantic, it is absolutely insane.
- 4:19[SPEAKER_02]: Who do you just Tampa played a night that I see that?
- 4:22[SPEAKER_02]: They do not.
- 4:25[SPEAKER_01]: Let me see.
- 4:26[SPEAKER_02]: I'm going to the chat just let's go shark.
- 4:28[SPEAKER_01]: So I'm not sure who the shark's play the Canadians at home.
- 4:33[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, of course.
- 4:38[SPEAKER_01]: Okay, well, I mean, I don't know, they are playing right now.
- 4:41[SPEAKER_01]: Actually, the wilder up ones here on the lighting, first period, 10 minutes.
- 4:45[SPEAKER_01]: Huge.
- 4:46[SPEAKER_02]: Huge.
- 4:48[SPEAKER_02]: Thank you.
- 4:48[SPEAKER_02]: Um, yeah, listen, no easy schedule for for the Tampa Bay lightning ahead.
- 4:54[SPEAKER_02]: Uh, Buffalo's next six out of seven games are at home, like there is a realistic chance at this team, you know, after this homestay, you know, I'm not sure when's, when's the next away game on Thursday against thangels, oh, so they, oh, okay.
- 5:11[SPEAKER_02]: So their next game is away, but then I then their next five.
- 5:15[SPEAKER_02]: Or yeah, I remember at home.
- 5:17[SPEAKER_01]: Yes.
- 5:18[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 5:19[SPEAKER_02]: So I mean, there's a realistic chance like after that homestand, we could, if we do our part, be leading the division, which one's the last time this team had a division lead this late, the season probably, 2006, 2006.
- 5:38[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, you're right,
- 5:43[SPEAKER_01]: First team needs your conference to hit 30 regulation wins in sanity insane.
- 5:51[SPEAKER_02]: And then there's so much to talk about, you know, Alex King, Alex lie in Lion King had an incredible game after, you know, of scary couple minutes there were, you know, Vegas inch their way back in that game after being down three nothing.
- 6:05[SPEAKER_02]: He was able to, you know, bear down and get the win, really subtle things in, which we would expect from a veteran like him.
- 6:13[SPEAKER_02]: He's had plenty of experience on other teams, you know, probably being in that situation and made some huge saves for Buffalo down the stretch.
- 6:20[SPEAKER_02]: You know, we talk about again, how, you know,
- 6:28[SPEAKER_02]: Um, they, I don't know if you remember this, I don't know if the Sabers did this turn like the 05 to 07 playoff runs, but I know they did it back and like the hashick days that used to give away the palm palms at games.
- 6:43[SPEAKER_02]: Do you remember the palm palms vividly.
- 6:47[SPEAKER_02]: Seeing the overhead view of the crowd, swinging those rally towels around was very reminiscent of the of the pom-poms.
- 6:54[SPEAKER_02]: I think I still have mine somewhere in the house actually.
- 6:57[SPEAKER_02]: Back in the you know the Marine military in a days empire sports network days and then back with HSBC arena, but like those were those are great fun times and like I, you know, I think what those times off and I went when thinking about this team and playoffs, but very reminiscent that atmosphere of those playoffs years.
- 7:16[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, it's just a few of the videos I saw from the 300 section pre-game, uh, specifically after stages gold to make it 30, really felt like a playoff atmosphere.
- 7:26[SPEAKER_01]: Even the game I was at in November against the hurricanes, I think when we won 40, it was, it kind of felt like it back then, and that was even before this streak.
- 7:37[SPEAKER_01]: So, I think some savers, the savers fans deserve a lot of credit, especially the ones that have stick through all of this,
- 7:46[SPEAKER_01]: all of the drought and all of the tough times to be rewarded with a team like this.
- 7:54[SPEAKER_01]: It's not without fault.
- 7:55[SPEAKER_01]: They only had one power play opportunity tonight and it was woefully as bad as a majority of the other power plays that we've seen at least recently.
- 8:03[SPEAKER_01]: So they definitely have to figure that out.
- 8:05[SPEAKER_01]: But
- 8:06[SPEAKER_01]: potential reinforcements on the way, as I'm sure we'll get into soon that I think could potentially help that.
- 8:13[SPEAKER_01]: And we've discussed before, it's not necessarily a talent issue.
- 8:16[SPEAKER_01]: I think it still is a scheme issue and a inability or a refusal to adapt in terms of what the zone entry is, the creativity in terms of pocket movement and spacing and positionless type players.
- 8:32[SPEAKER_01]: But,
- 8:33[SPEAKER_01]: can't help.
- 8:34[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, it can't hurt to add more talent to a power play that's struggling a little at the moment.
- 8:39[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 8:40[SPEAKER_02]: And like how about this comment right here.
- 8:41[SPEAKER_02]: Toronto has more points in the standings than the funding Stanley Cup champion Florida, Florida Panthers that right there.
- 8:51[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, I think you were to ask anybody before this season started.
- 8:54[SPEAKER_02]: Like, because Florida, I mean, they signed every, they, they re signed everybody, you know, they, they, they kept that group together, obviously have the barcoff injury and the kachak injury, but like to see that team might not make the playoffs and the Buffalo Sabers might win their division is absolutely batshit crazy.
- 9:14[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I like what's happened to the Panthers this season a little bit to what happened to the chiefs this year in the NFL you go through so many postseason runs you're playing so many more games than teams relative in your conference and in the league.
- 9:30[SPEAKER_01]: And it eventually will catch up to you.
- 9:33[SPEAKER_01]: And I think that's what's happened to the Panthers.
- 9:34[SPEAKER_01]: This is, obviously, they lost Alexander Barkov, they lost, which I saw earlier today, Seth Jones had a massive impact on their defense and not having him.
- 9:45[SPEAKER_01]: has had a really, really negative effect on their team.
- 9:48[SPEAKER_01]: So eventually, all those two long runs in the postseason past two years will catch up to you.
- 9:54[SPEAKER_01]: And I think that's what's happened with them.
- 9:55[SPEAKER_01]: I don't give them much chance of getting back into this thing, which is good news for everybody, because they're clearly the type of team that succeeds well in playoff style hockey.
- 10:05[SPEAKER_01]: And,
- 10:06[SPEAKER_01]: I do think the way that the savers are playing right now.
- 10:08[SPEAKER_01]: Obviously the second half wasn't nearly as good as the first half, but they're hounding pucks.
- 10:12[SPEAKER_01]: They were saying they're willing in the game before broadcast had the most issues I've ever seen the broadcast have today, which was crazy.
- 10:19[SPEAKER_01]: Was that on your own too?
- 10:21[SPEAKER_02]: Dude, that's crazy.
- 10:22[SPEAKER_02]: I don't know if you heard it, but...
- 10:25[SPEAKER_02]: they kept on yelling at like I'm not sure it was Dan if it was Rob.
- 10:30[SPEAKER_02]: Like some of the producers like talk, just start talking, just start talking, I'm talking, I have, you can hear it faintly, but it was hilarious, I tweeted I like that's so funny that like wild buffalo has scored a goal off that own power to fly, it was the own power goal at the deflection.
- 10:44[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 10:45[SPEAKER_02]: that like because here it just randomly goes like no you know dark or not dark but like the audio and then if you listen you can faintly hear some producer just yelling at the team to start talking and nobody it's like I have talking I am talking like it was very faint but it was hilarious yeah it was brutal not sure if that was a power issue what happened I've never quite seen something like that before but um
- 11:13[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, the first half of the game was was really, really good.
- 11:16[SPEAKER_01]: And they were all over them, especially in the first period.
- 11:19[SPEAKER_01]: And I think they have the youth.
- 11:20[SPEAKER_01]: They have the speed.
- 11:21[SPEAKER_01]: They have the talent.
- 11:22[SPEAKER_01]: They have guys that want the puck that how in the puck.
- 11:26[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, it's just a really, really good team.
- 11:28[SPEAKER_01]: And I think they're only getting better as they gain more experience.
- 11:31[SPEAKER_01]: It's just natural, but sometimes the moment has been too big for these guys in the past.
- 11:35[SPEAKER_01]: And it doesn't seem like that this season.
- 11:36[SPEAKER_01]: They're facing any challenge head-on and they're exceeding with flying colors for the most part.
- 11:42[SPEAKER_01]: So it's really cool to see, especially coming out of the Olympic break.
- 11:45[SPEAKER_01]: Those four games before the Olympic break, I think there was some anxiety that they were regressing back to the mean.
- 11:50[SPEAKER_01]: But in these four games since the break, I think they've proven that those 20 games prior to that were not necessarily an aberration that this team is actually very good and they have the potential to go on around here.
- 12:03[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, and I see a lot in the chat to people are coming as like, you know, this wasn't the greatest game they've played and they're still found a way to win.
- 12:10[SPEAKER_02]: I tend to agree because I'd say after that first period, I thought Buffalo was what was the better team, but then obviously Vegas started to close that gap.
- 12:19[SPEAKER_02]: They started to find their chances and Buffalo wasn't really taken advantage.
- 12:23[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, Jack Quinn man, like, I don't know how many more opportunities that guy needs in one single game.
- 12:27[SPEAKER_02]: and can't hit the net drove me absolutely wild like if you're trying to showcase that guy today for Robert Thomas trade it did not go well for you if you're okay, because he looked awful.
- 12:37[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, he is so up and down and really consistent and I saw a few people say it online today I don't necessarily think Jack Quinn
- 12:45[SPEAKER_01]: is an asset that a rebuilding team necessarily wants to bring in at the moment.
- 12:49[SPEAKER_01]: I think Peyton Crabs would be in terms of players currently on the roster that they could deal way more likely to be someone that a team would want in terms of a hardworking player that's got a lot better in the past two months especially offensively.
- 13:04[SPEAKER_01]: Jack Quinn I think especially with his injuries
- 13:06[SPEAKER_01]: And his lack of consistency, I think his body just isn't quite where it was prior to the two leg injuries to the same leg a couple of seasons ago and I think we clearly see the effects of that every so often.
- 13:21[SPEAKER_02]: So he's a bit of a frustrating watch, but can't complain too much at the moment.
- 13:36[SPEAKER_02]: Well, how long ago was it when we started talking about Robert Thomas on this show?
- 13:40[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, January.
- 13:42[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, now it's like, there's a front runner to say in the area.
- 13:47[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, it's been reported that they are the front runner to land Robert Thomas, which is again, that shit crazy and just goes to prove what a real GM can do.
- 14:01[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, a real GM and a lot of winning.
- 14:03[SPEAKER_01]: I think the Sabers have the best chance to get Robert Thomas given what they are able to give up.
- 14:11[SPEAKER_01]: The amount of prospects, the amount of high-end prospects, the picks, the lack of a need for first-round picks in the next couple of years, the in-reference to prospects.
- 14:22[SPEAKER_01]: Guys that have gone in the upper half of the first-round
- 14:25[SPEAKER_01]: Seven plus years now that aren't even on the team that don't necessarily have a chance to make the team in the next five years Not a lot of teams have that and it's a formula that usually only happens when you've been bad for a really long time That combined with this winning streak and the go for it mode in which they're in which could happen in any any HL season next for the perfect combination to not only buy but buy for the biggest fish on the market, which is Robert Thomas
- 14:52[SPEAKER_01]: I think the reports today were absolutely coming out of San Luis's camp.
- 14:56[SPEAKER_01]: I think that they were leaked to the media to be used as leverage for another team to potentially up their offer to put pressure on the savers, but I think I don't think that changes the fact that the savers could probably be anybody's offer and that's extremely exciting.
- 15:13[SPEAKER_02]: 13 minutes ago.
- 15:15[SPEAKER_02]: 13 minutes ago, well, this is from that NHL rumor report.
- 15:19[SPEAKER_02]: I'm not sure how long ago David Pagnota from the fourth period saw this.
- 15:23[SPEAKER_02]: Robert Thomas has a full no no tray clause.
- 15:26[SPEAKER_02]: Sources are just, you would be open to the idea of going to the Sabres mammoth or aisles among other options.
- 15:33[SPEAKER_02]: So, here today on March 3rd, Robert Thomas is open to being a Buffalo Sabre.
- 15:42[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, and why wouldn't it be, especially given the situation that exists in St. Louis at the moment?
- 15:48[SPEAKER_01]: I can't imagine what other teams are we've heard Utah.
- 15:51[SPEAKER_01]: I think I've heard Montreal and Detroit, of course, and I saw a few Red Wings and Habs fans freaking out at the possibility of the Savers getting Robert Thomas, so that would be as much of a reason as any.
- 16:03[SPEAKER_01]: So to prevent him from staying in your division or going to your division to another team that you're competing with.
- 16:09[SPEAKER_01]: So, yeah, I think it's a real distinct possibility and they're definitely discussing it.
- 16:15[SPEAKER_01]: I think the report from former NHL Jordan Smalls about Owen Power and Holeneas and Jack Quinn being the pieces from everything I've seen that seems to be pretty outlandish and far-fetched, I don't think.
- 16:33[SPEAKER_01]: any of the saver, I'm not even going to kind of discuss Dalline and Samuson, but I don't think biome and power would be on the table for a guy like Robert Thomas.
- 16:42[SPEAKER_01]: I think they have enough there prospect and draft pick wise and other and forward assets that you can get it done without doing that personally.
- 16:50[SPEAKER_02]: By any means, but I just, that's just coming in order in order to get on power.
- 16:56[SPEAKER_02]: And again, I kind of threw this out on Twitter.
- 16:58[SPEAKER_02]: I don't like deleting tweets, but I did
- 17:02[SPEAKER_02]: This, the certain crowd from Sabers Twitter was in a come after me for saying it, but like if you were going to trade on power and mind you this podcast has not been pro trade on power for a while, like we have even pretty quiet on a one power he doesn't get us any reason to complain I personally and I think he's given reason to congratulate and I think celebrate in the way that he has played personally.
- 17:28[SPEAKER_02]: to an extent, I would agree.
- 17:31[SPEAKER_02]: I think that in the role he's being asked to play, I think he's performed well.
- 17:38[SPEAKER_02]: not putting up the numbers offensively.
- 17:40[SPEAKER_02]: He's got 19 points in the season, considering you drafted him to be an offensive defenseman at first overall.
- 17:46[SPEAKER_02]: That's just not what he's been doing this year.
- 17:48[SPEAKER_02]: And I don't know if that's maybe the role he's being given, you know, maybe I saw somebody say it's because he's covering up for biormous mistakes.
- 17:56[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, I I haven't completed about bull and biorm and how long.
- 17:59[SPEAKER_02]: How long is it?
- 17:59[SPEAKER_02]: So it's a completely about bull and biro.
- 18:01[SPEAKER_02]: Now it's been a long time.
- 18:04[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, and I just think that a lot of the success from this team has been derived from those two pairings on defense.
- 18:10[SPEAKER_01]: Obviously, Donnelly and Samuelson is likely the best deep pairing in the league at the moment.
- 18:16[SPEAKER_01]: And then along with Power and Byram, those four are playing comparatively
- 18:21[SPEAKER_01]: and marginally much, so many more minutes and whoever on the third pair.
- 18:26[SPEAKER_01]: So in the role that they're in and the responsibility that they're given going up against the top two lines and on the penalty kill against the, the best possible options from any opponent, it's extremely admirable the way that they've all played.
- 18:41[SPEAKER_01]: So whether you're not complaining about them or you're celebrating them, it's the strength of the team.
- 18:46[SPEAKER_01]: Come on, let's go.
- 18:48[SPEAKER_02]: 100%, but again, like getting back to what I was saying before, and I agree with all that, I mean, what would have to be on the table for even all-empower to be considered and betrayed like this?
- 19:00[SPEAKER_02]: And I don't even think this would be an in-season trade.
- 19:02[SPEAKER_02]: It'd probably more of an in-off season thing, but like if you're St. Louis, I mean, what is it, Colton Pareco?
- 19:09[SPEAKER_02]: Is that the guy?
- 19:11[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, I like open-racal a lot personally.
- 19:13[SPEAKER_02]: I think it's a great defenseman.
- 19:15[SPEAKER_02]: I'd great defensive defenseman.
- 19:16[SPEAKER_02]: And there was a big reason why he was chosen a team candidate over a lot of other, a lot of other guys.
- 19:22[SPEAKER_02]: Not saying that I would want to trade him if foraco was involved in that deal.
- 19:27[SPEAKER_02]: But like, if you are dealing on power to St. Louis, like that guy probably has to be coming back, right?
- 19:33[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, something of the sort, and I just don't see why it would make sense for for either team to be honest.
- 19:39[SPEAKER_01]: Obviously rather I mean a lot of blues fans are saying why it would make sense to trade your first line center and I think there's an argument from from their perspective about that as well, especially 26 years old signed at eight million per season for the next five years.
- 19:54[SPEAKER_01]: Like that's that doesn't necessarily seem like a guy you want to give up.
- 19:58[SPEAKER_01]: in such a favorable position, but having already won the cup seven years ago seems like a long time ago at this point, but that does allow you the ability to blow it out a little bit and to plan for the future.
- 20:12[SPEAKER_01]: It gives you a little bit of an apology or it gives you a little bit of room to work with from your fan base, given that you have won a cup with a good amount of this current group.
- 20:23[SPEAKER_01]: So maybe that's the reason why I
- 20:25[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, the fact that he's available is pretty amazing.
- 20:29[SPEAKER_01]: And I reiterate, the Sabers have the chance to be any single offer from the rest of the NHL.
- 20:37[SPEAKER_01]: Given what they have in there, and they're prospectful.
- 20:40[SPEAKER_01]: uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh
- 20:57[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, for sure.
- 20:58[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, it goes both ways, obviously, but there were some high danger chances from the golden nights in the second half of the game, which absolutely could have changed the course of the game if they if they wanted a different way.
- 21:10[SPEAKER_01]: Same with McClaude's big breakaway.
- 21:13[SPEAKER_01]: And even on power, he was defending in front of his net and the puck hit his shin pad, which I think it was on the Riley Smith chance, and it would have gone directly in the net.
- 21:22[SPEAKER_01]: But aside from that, I think it's representative
- 21:24[SPEAKER_01]: of lion season the entire year he was composed he was positionally sound he did not panic when there were scrumbs in front of his net even one of the third period where it was a a shop from the point which was a bit of a riser and got caught there's equipment and he didn't know where it was and a lot of goalies.
- 21:42[SPEAKER_01]: would kind of freak out and think it was behind them, but he stayed composed, he stayed in his crease, and he was able to cover it up for a whistle.
- 21:49[SPEAKER_01]: I think it is really emblematic of where he is in his career, obviously, that if an older goalie, relative to the rest of the Annie Child, but I think his experience in every single place he's been shines through on a game-by-game basis.
- 22:03[SPEAKER_01]: And in terms of goal saved above expected and performance, relative to the rest of the league this year, he is one of the top 10 goalies in the Annie Child Barnot.
- 22:11[SPEAKER_02]: Absolutely.
- 22:13[SPEAKER_02]: Um, here's another good question too.
- 22:16[SPEAKER_02]: If Buffalo lands Thomas, do we move Norris to the wing or is it Tage Thompson?
- 22:22[SPEAKER_01]: I would prefer Norris to be honest.
- 22:24[SPEAKER_01]: I agree.
- 22:25[SPEAKER_01]: And I think that is.
- 22:27[SPEAKER_01]: for two reasons, I think Tage's at his best from a playmaking perspective when he has the freedom of being a center.
- 22:34[SPEAKER_01]: And number two, the two times Josh Norris has gotten hurt this season.
- 22:38[SPEAKER_01]: Definitely the first time.
- 22:39[SPEAKER_01]: I don't know about the second time for sure, I saw it online today was on a draw.
- 22:44[SPEAKER_01]: He's had the rib issue.
- 22:46[SPEAKER_01]: Actually, no, he got cross checked on the second time.
- 22:48[SPEAKER_01]: So I think that was, I don't know if that was the reason for the second injury.
- 22:52[SPEAKER_01]: But
- 22:53[SPEAKER_01]: Putting Josh Norris in the least amount of compromising situations possible I think is probably for the best and he I think he plays the type of game that he is savvy enough and he's intelligent and not saying that pages and but I think Josh Norris has a game that translates better to the wing and teach us so that's my thought but I think you probably probably be fine either way.
- 23:18[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, too.
- 23:18[SPEAKER_02]: And here's the thing, too, if you're to your point, like that's for a guy who's dealt with the injuries he's been dealing with this season, the oblique and then obviously the ribs.
- 23:28[SPEAKER_02]: Who's to say in a situation in a desone or on an important offensive zone draw he can't just take the draw and then.
- 23:36[SPEAKER_02]: jump right under the wing just for the not average job, but in an important draw because I know you guys I know he's relied on a lot for his face off ability I'm not sure where Robert Thomas ranks in terms of face-offs, but there's no there's no reason he couldn't do that And I think we all to your point and to my point to like page is more suited down the middle he is going to give you most offensive output from from from the middle
- 24:01[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I was looking up today.
- 24:02[SPEAKER_01]: Robert Thomas has a career like 52% on draws, which is not bad at all.
- 24:08[SPEAKER_01]: Norris is pretty good, even tonight he was eight and four.
- 24:11[SPEAKER_01]: So for a team that struggles with face-offs, he was great, Krebs was five and one, and Tage was seven and eight.
- 24:18[SPEAKER_01]: So if you're right around 50%, 50% or a little bit over that, I think that is good comparatively.
- 24:24[SPEAKER_01]: And then you go from there, but yeah, I think it depends, I think he's definitely on the first line Robert Thomas that is
- 24:32[SPEAKER_01]: if it does happen, don't want it.
- 24:34[SPEAKER_01]: For about 30 minutes there this afternoon, and it almost felt like he was on the team already, the way that people were talking about it.
- 24:40[SPEAKER_01]: So can't count your chickens, but I think he's probably on the first line.
- 24:45[SPEAKER_01]: I could see a gosh, it's hard to say, because if you want him to play with page, then you'd have to move page to win, wing.
- 24:54[SPEAKER_01]: But I think him,
- 24:57[SPEAKER_01]: getting into the lineup allows you for a lot of versatility and it doesn't have to be what you start with the first game if it's not working.
- 25:05[SPEAKER_01]: I think all three guys can do a variety of different things but most importantly, it moves Ryan McLeod to at this point in his career I think where he's best, which is a third line center and not even just best, Ryan McLeod could absolutely dominate in his minutes as a third line center, given the way that he's played this season, especially recently.
- 25:25[SPEAKER_01]: produced and a really, really strong clip.
- 25:28[SPEAKER_01]: So I think that's really important.
- 25:30[SPEAKER_01]: Just depth up and down the line up, especially down the middle.
- 25:32[SPEAKER_02]: 100%.
- 25:33[SPEAKER_02]: Another question from Fred, regardless of the Thomas rumors, would you entertain Rista line in back Oliver, Oliver, Ekman Larson or Mario Ferraro?
- 25:43[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, it seems like there might be some truth.
- 25:45[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, the Sabers did have scouts at the Philly
- 25:51[SPEAKER_02]: crystalline and might have been one of the guys that they were looking at and that and those scouts did include mark version.
- 25:57[SPEAKER_02]: So, sayers have been in, they've been ruined about looking for a bottom pairing defenseman.
- 26:05[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, again, I don't know.
- 26:06[SPEAKER_02]: I think he has been a bunch better, not I don't want to see much better, but a better defenseman in the role he's been asked to play in Philadelphia.
- 26:13[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, if that is the only option you have, if you can't make a
- 26:21[SPEAKER_02]: I'd be open to the conversation.
- 26:24[SPEAKER_01]: I'm more open to the conversation than I was three days ago, but I'm still pretty closed off from the the Risto conversation.
- 26:30[SPEAKER_01]: I have too much scar tissue watching the Risto line in his own end and I don't necessarily think that's solved overnight.
- 26:38[SPEAKER_01]: I think he's been kind of sheltered a little bit.
- 26:41[SPEAKER_01]: He's not writing defensively.
- 26:42[SPEAKER_01]: I was I was looking into it a little bit deeper.
- 26:44[SPEAKER_01]: yesterday and today.
- 26:45[SPEAKER_01]: It is better, but it's still not necessarily great.
- 26:48[SPEAKER_01]: And I think that you could probably, if you really do want to significantly upgrade that third pair, you could probably do better than that.
- 26:56[SPEAKER_01]: I wasn't super familiar with Mario Ferraro until I
- 26:59[SPEAKER_01]: Fred Fairburn's article over at The Athletic.
- 27:03[SPEAKER_01]: Last week, he spent his entire career with San Jose.
- 27:06[SPEAKER_01]: He seems to be pretty solid.
- 27:08[SPEAKER_01]: He's obviously been on teams that haven't been in high-level situations.
- 27:12[SPEAKER_01]: So it's not necessarily a guy with wisdom or experience that you'd want.
- 27:16[SPEAKER_01]: And obviously Oliver Eckman-Larson
- 27:18[SPEAKER_01]: former almost close to superstar in this league, who's at the twilight of his career.
- 27:23[SPEAKER_01]: I guess that would fit at least that aspect of it a little bit more, a guy with experience in wisdom, but he also hasn't had too much playoff experience from what I'm familiar with, spending a lot of time with the coyotes.
- 27:35[SPEAKER_01]: So
- 27:36[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, those those two those three options are not necessarily all ideal for me and I think you're not necessarily going to get an ideal option for that third pairing, but personally I would I would like to look elsewhere.
- 27:50[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, and I mean, I'm still all on board with a Tyler Myers idea.
- 27:55[SPEAKER_02]: Like if that's even a possibility, he's got one year left on his deal, which is nice, you know, I, here's the thing.
- 28:02[SPEAKER_02]: I don't know if you noticed it, but like they were moving Zach, Mets are around on different parings than I, tonight.
- 28:07[SPEAKER_02]: like they were given them opportunities in different spots.
- 28:09[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, I don't know if that's like a sign that maybe they're looking to give him more responsibility to see how you would do if he was given more responsibility kind of an odd game to pick against Vegas, but like I don't know, man, like the numbers are showing that the sabers don't get scored on one Zack matches on the ice.
- 28:29[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, and his confidence in the offensive offensive zone has really shown through the past couple of games, especially back all against the lightning the other day and even a couple chances.
- 28:37[SPEAKER_01]: I think it was in the first period tonight.
- 28:40[SPEAKER_01]: He is playing with a lot more swagger.
- 28:42[SPEAKER_01]: He's more comfortable in his area of the ice and how much tiny has and he's aware of his position when we're other guys are so.
- 28:51[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I've liked his game recently.
- 28:53[SPEAKER_01]: Obviously, it's a smaller sample size and his minutes have been sheltered a little bit, but in a larger role, I'd be interested to see if those numbers translate.
- 29:02[SPEAKER_02]: Other name, we've talked about a Logan Stanley.
- 29:06[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, I would love that idea too.
- 29:08[SPEAKER_02]: Again, any of those names, I think Sabre's fans would be happy as a bottom parent guy.
- 29:14[SPEAKER_02]: Even one, Connor Timons gets back.
- 29:17[SPEAKER_02]: In your, if you're playing GM for a day, if your Yarmel Cuckeline, what are you willing to send the St. Louis if it was just strictly for Robert Thomas?
- 29:27[SPEAKER_02]: No retention.
- 29:28[SPEAKER_02]: No selling time.
- 29:30[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I, you know, when we initially had this discussion, it was last month or month before I said that I, I wouldn't want to give up Iceland in in Holonia, but I think unfortunately for the for the for the caliber of player that he is.
- 29:45[SPEAKER_01]: It none of us really know anything at the moment, but it feels like that's probably what St. Louis would want back.
- 29:53[SPEAKER_01]: One of your top prospects.
- 29:55[SPEAKER_01]: I think redeemerca is also in the conversation.
- 29:58[SPEAKER_01]: I think probably.
- 30:00[SPEAKER_01]: The equivalent of three valuable assets is what I was hearing throughout the course of the day.
- 30:06[SPEAKER_01]: One of that's two prospects in a pick, a player, a prospect in a pick, or a prospect in two picks.
- 30:14[SPEAKER_01]: I saw the the verbiage of the equivalent of two first rounders today.
- 30:20[SPEAKER_01]: which if you if you have to give up 2026 first round and 2027 first round along with a prospect I'd be fine with that too because I think that given the way that the savers are going at the moment the 2026 and 2027 first round picks likely aren't going to impact this team until potentially 2030 and this is a team after missing the playoffs for 14 straight seasons is very much in a win now mode.
- 30:45[SPEAKER_01]: they have the most regulation wins in the Eastern Conference.
- 30:48[SPEAKER_01]: There are two points out of the Atlantic.
- 30:49[SPEAKER_01]: You've got to go for it.
- 30:50[SPEAKER_01]: So given how much has changed even in the last month, I think that increases the pressure a little bit.
- 30:57[SPEAKER_01]: And I think that should signal took a line in that this team.
- 31:00[SPEAKER_01]: As we've discussed time and time again is not just in a position to make the playoffs.
- 31:04[SPEAKER_01]: They have a better chance of losing in the Stanley Cup finals now than they do of missing the playoffs, which is
- 31:12[SPEAKER_01]: insane to say out loud, but I think that probably increases the price a little bit for a guy who as we've said is 26 on a very reasonable contract is one of the best two way centers in the game.
- 31:24[SPEAKER_01]: It doesn't happen very often at the trade deadline, especially in a season like this.
- 31:28[SPEAKER_01]: So you got to be willing to break the bank.
- 31:30[SPEAKER_02]: Are you guys ever gonna lose a game?
- 31:32[SPEAKER_02]: I don't know, man, hopefully not.
- 31:34[SPEAKER_02]: I think you're just, well, like, from Shorsey, this team will never lose again.
- 31:38[SPEAKER_01]: It's, I mean, it's been like a month.
- 31:42[SPEAKER_02]: It's true, it is true.
- 31:44[SPEAKER_02]: We got a couple different options, you know, different suggestions in here from Alex.
- 31:49[SPEAKER_02]: Hallelujah, it's two first, first rompick, Jack, Quinn, and Cole Nelson.
- 31:53[SPEAKER_02]: I do think they'd be interested in getting Colton Ellis back, because I do know they didn't wanna wave him to begin with.
- 32:00[SPEAKER_02]: So I could totally see a world where they might want Colton else back.
- 32:04[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I mean, I guess that would put a nice ball on it, right?
- 32:08[SPEAKER_01]: Like, I all needs, you know, like I saw people floating every single prospect in this favor system today.
- 32:17[SPEAKER_01]: So I think the possibilities are endless.
- 32:22[SPEAKER_01]: So, yeah, I don't know.
- 32:24[SPEAKER_01]: I just think that for that caliber player.
- 32:26[SPEAKER_01]: I think, I opinion, especially on Holonius and Austin, Holonius more so than Austin, given how much more NHL experience, Austin has gotten this season.
- 32:37[SPEAKER_02]: I think that's the higher cylinder, though, do you think, Holonius?
- 32:39[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, sealing, sealing.
- 32:41[SPEAKER_02]: I think Holonius personally.
- 32:43[SPEAKER_01]: I don't know, it's hard for me to say.
- 32:45[SPEAKER_01]: I think I think Oslo is a more complete player and he's a better playmaker.
- 32:49[SPEAKER_01]: And the Holonius is the better goal score and probably point producer.
- 32:54[SPEAKER_01]: But it's tough to weigh those two.
- 32:56[SPEAKER_01]: And I think ceiling is a tough conversation.
- 32:59[SPEAKER_01]: Especially for two guys that are 20 and 21 years old.
- 33:02[SPEAKER_01]: So yeah, I think it's tough.
- 33:06[SPEAKER_01]: But personally, I think I would rather keep Oslo in this juncture.
- 33:10[SPEAKER_01]: But you can twist my arm either way.
- 33:12[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 33:13[SPEAKER_02]: Two first round picks on a line is is a no brainer for us.
- 33:18[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, I don't know if that's giving up too much.
- 33:20[SPEAKER_02]: I really don't think it is.
- 33:22[SPEAKER_02]: But if you're talking about multiple picks, plus multiple prospects, then I think I either want salary retention on the Rob Thomas contract, or I want them taking a bad contract of ours back in the way, or Justin Falk coming back.
- 33:41[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, fuck would be great.
- 33:42[SPEAKER_01]: And I said earlier that if power or firearm was involved that the guy like Faulk would have to come back, like you mentioned periko, I think that would be a different conversation.
- 33:53[SPEAKER_01]: I think this gets into the fantasy football trade care at theoretical trade category, or you just start adding pieces and adding pieces and then it gets too convoluted and then both sides are like, why do we do this in the first place?
- 34:04[SPEAKER_01]: I think the main point of this is obviously Robert Thomas and I think they can focus on that.
- 34:10[SPEAKER_01]: And also that brings up the conversation of if they do go for Robert Thomas, then what does that say about their market for a third pairing defenseman does that go out the window do they go for a higher floor at lower ceiling guy, do they even do it at all.
- 34:29[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, they could just hold a counter 10 ends back in health and yeah, you know, that he's playing at the same level he did for the first 20 years, so games of the season.
- 34:37[SPEAKER_02]: Absolutely good for them.
- 34:38[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I personally think it's the right formula and recipe where they could do both.
- 34:43[SPEAKER_01]: But if you do go for Robert Thomas, at least first, then the guy that you're getting back, at least some of the defense event is probably not going to be as good as you initially would have liked.
- 34:55[SPEAKER_02]: And that's another thing, too, if you don't get in our defense event, that means when Timons comes back, you have a decision.
- 35:01[SPEAKER_02]: One of those guys has to sit, right?
- 35:02[SPEAKER_02]: It's either whoever you
- 35:08[SPEAKER_01]: It was going to be and at this at this point, I would say tenons, but it feels like Kesslering is getting hurt every single game.
- 35:16[SPEAKER_02]: Okay.
- 35:17[SPEAKER_02]: Like that guy just has no luck.
- 35:19[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 35:19[SPEAKER_02]: Like I based on the fortune.
- 35:22[SPEAKER_02]: Like in the offseason man, he needs to wrap himself in bubble wrap or do like you ever see that movie bubble boy.
- 35:29[SPEAKER_01]: I have not seen it, but I can picture it.
- 35:32[SPEAKER_02]: I forget, maybe some of the chat, I forget what actor played the bubble boy, but he was wrapped in that giant bubble.
- 35:41[SPEAKER_02]: Not to get too deep at that.
- 35:42[SPEAKER_02]: That's what he needs to do in the off season.
- 35:44[SPEAKER_02]: Whatever he does, whether it's off season workouts, he goes to the beach.
- 35:48[SPEAKER_02]: goes overseas to like, just being a bubble, please.
- 35:51[SPEAKER_02]: Like, kick back at get healthy because I truly believe we've talked on this podcast.
- 35:55[SPEAKER_02]: This is not the level of defense from that we signed up for and I think it's mostly, you know, the Samuel's in situation, he's just not healthy.
- 36:03[SPEAKER_02]: Like, he's, I don't think he's been 100% for a single game this entire season.
- 36:08[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, probably not.
- 36:09[SPEAKER_01]: And he's, I mean, these past two games getting hit with Pox and a few, a few, a few, a few.
- 36:17[SPEAKER_01]: Um, they're, they're reared random injuries, uh, and those are unrelated to the high high angle spring, which is really, really difficult to recover from, but I do see his game getting a little better.
- 36:29[SPEAKER_01]: He had a couple of opportunities to score a goal tonight, which would have been his firsts as a saver, so I think he's at least improving, and given what was given up obviously to acquire him, I think it would probably be ten minutes, especially coming off a broken leg.
- 36:44[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, and that's like again, as somebody who had a really severely broken leg, I mean, I don't know how even as a professional athlete, I don't know how quickly someone breaks up.
- 36:54[SPEAKER_02]: I don't know which bone and his like he broke.
- 36:58[SPEAKER_02]: I do remember when.
- 37:01[SPEAKER_02]: Ovatchkin broke his fibula.
- 37:04[SPEAKER_02]: He came back like a month ahead of schedule and then broke the scoring goal scoring record.
- 37:10[SPEAKER_02]: Somehow, still after missing, like again, like a month of the season, which nobody thought would be possible, but again, I don't know what bone he broke, but given what I dealt with, which is probably much more severe.
- 37:24[SPEAKER_02]: Expecting somebody back at a hundred percent even if he does an ample amount of rehab is just really unrealistic
- 37:31[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, and I've seen especially with a high ankle sprain compared to even a broken ankle.
- 37:38[SPEAKER_01]: Sometimes breaking a bone clean is easier to recover from than a sprain.
- 37:42[SPEAKER_01]: It's not always the case, but I think you are encouraged to, or at least mentally, within yourself, encourage like, oh, I can play on a sprain.
- 37:52[SPEAKER_01]: It's just a sprain, right?
- 37:53[SPEAKER_01]: And when you clean break a bone, it actually allows you the time to completely heal and completely
- 38:01[SPEAKER_01]: I think that's probably what happened with Castle Ring and maybe he's been in these situations because he's overcompensating who knows, but yeah, I would love to see him healthy and I do think he's improving a little bit.
- 38:10[SPEAKER_01]: So hopefully that continues to go along that trajectory.
- 38:13[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 38:14[SPEAKER_02]: All right.
- 38:15[SPEAKER_02]: I tend to agree.
- 38:16[SPEAKER_02]: I'm going to kick it back to our sponsors shot it again to Fatty Beer Company, Western York's Premier Mark and Tapper.

- 40:00[SPEAKER_02]: hurls before we get out of here.
- 40:03[SPEAKER_02]: What exactly, I mean, what did you think of, you know, obviously we saw the the the honoring of Tage Thompson when Jack Hughes brought him up.
- 40:14[SPEAKER_02]: We saw what Tage did for, you know, I'm not sure.
- 40:18[SPEAKER_02]: Do you think Tage was more or less at the center of that wanting to honor Jack and Noah or was that more or less a saber's decision?
- 40:26[SPEAKER_01]: I think it was probably a combination of page and then also the massage therapist who is also on board with Team USA, maybe what Jack used it for a page helped with that, but it does seem like the team is really close and I'm happy they did it.
- 40:43[SPEAKER_01]: I think it was well done.
- 40:44[SPEAKER_01]: I think bringing out a Tager's wife and his kid to do the the puck drop.
- 40:49[SPEAKER_01]: I think that it was pretty classy and it allowed
- 40:54[SPEAKER_01]: Everybody at a really, really divisive time as we all know to come together in a moment of unity and celebration, so I don't think much more needs to be set about it than that and the game transpired the way that it did takers fans.
- 41:08[SPEAKER_01]: back to towards Michael the way that they did.
- 41:10[SPEAKER_01]: And I'm not sure if he said something postgame, but if he does, if he did, and he's salty about it, then I don't really care, you know, like he can he has his right to to feel whatever type of way he wants to about it, and so to we.
- 41:24[SPEAKER_01]: And so yeah, but pregame, I think completely well done, 1010, no notes.
- 41:30[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, I thought it was it got a very very very well done quick out of town scoreboard watch for those of you who are scored board Washing on tonight's tonight's games.
- 41:40[SPEAKER_02]: Panthers did lose the lose the doubles five to one penguins went final loss two to one to the paint or to the Bruins
- 41:47[SPEAKER_02]: mammoth beat the capitals three to two also goes in Buffalo's favor blue jackets over to brothers three to two obviously Buffalo beats the goal the nice three to two jets and black hawks tied it to senators are leaning the oilers four to two at the end of the second stars or flames five to one right now in the second and at the end of the first the wild are beating the Tampa Bay lighting one nothing Canadians and sharks tied at one during the first
- 42:17[SPEAKER_02]: And Evelynch are beating the ducks right now to the nothing near near in the end of the first period.
- 42:23[SPEAKER_02]: Before we get out of here, I will hit the post game quotes from the team, of course, brought to you by Brian Koziel as always from WGR.
- 42:34[SPEAKER_02]: He's always really on top of that stuff as soon as I screen a load here.
- 42:41[SPEAKER_02]: It's just kind of interesting to see if we do get anything any quotes or anything that from the Vegas locker I'm specifically like, from Tage Thompson, that was cool.
- 42:51[SPEAKER_02]: It was a hard-fought game.
- 42:52[SPEAKER_02]: was an awesome night how cool my family got to be there for the puck drop.
- 42:56[SPEAKER_02]: I had no idea they were going to be there.
- 42:58[SPEAKER_02]: It was a little emotional for me.
- 42:59[SPEAKER_02]: Thank you for all the fans who showed up to support me.
- 43:01[SPEAKER_02]: Thompson said the effort was said the effort up and down the lineup was amazing.
- 43:07[SPEAKER_02]: Says they aren't all going to be pretty, but they don't ask how they ask how many.
- 43:12[SPEAKER_02]: Thompson, it was an awesome reception from the crowd during the ceremony.
- 43:16[SPEAKER_02]: So it was probably the loudest he's heard it in here.
- 43:20[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, it's almost kind of like a throwback to the jack.
- 43:23[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, probably not intentional, but definitely unintentional life.
- 43:30[SPEAKER_01]: Uh, what is it, life and maintains art?
- 43:32[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 43:32[SPEAKER_02]: That's, that's super funny.
- 43:34[SPEAKER_01]: That's, that's really funny.
- 43:36[SPEAKER_02]: And out of all, unlike out of all the post game quotes that Kozi will put out that one kind of most engagement.
- 43:42[SPEAKER_02]: for obvious reasons power on the crowd in ceremony it was unreal even just skating out there day you could tell there was a different type of vibe in there it was a lot of fun power said that they were all over them in the first half of the game but Vegas made a push and it was a great
- 43:57[SPEAKER_02]: that they were able to hold on defensively to grit the win.
- 44:00[SPEAKER_02]: Power said that they are, they are a lot more confident in holding leads late in games.
- 44:05[SPEAKER_02]: They've been able to do it a lot and says that their goalies have also been huge in keeping those leads.
- 44:10[SPEAKER_02]: Lion on a holding on to lead says, you try to live in the moment.
- 44:14[SPEAKER_02]: There is no secret recipe.
- 44:16[SPEAKER_02]: It's good practice.
- 44:18[SPEAKER_02]: They are going to, there are going to be tight games down the stretch.
- 44:20[SPEAKER_02]: Lions says that they did a great job, they tightened up and locked it down after Vegas scored the two quick goals so they have to continue and limit odd man rushes, play to their strengths and their identity.
- 44:32[SPEAKER_02]: Lion, it's a daily grind, winning builds confidence, the way that this group works big credit to the guys from Lindy Ruff.
- 44:39[SPEAKER_02]: So they have learned about some of the tough
- 44:42[SPEAKER_02]: So they have learned about some of the tough losses earlier in the year and it last year and it helps closing out games now.
- 44:48[SPEAKER_02]: We fed them a little bit of ice and Vegas took advantage of that.
- 44:53[SPEAKER_02]: Lindy Ruff says, the team definitely fed off the crowd energy from the pre-game ceremony and it helped get them off to a great start in the game.
- 45:01[SPEAKER_02]: More from Roth, the best way of learning is going through hardship.
- 45:05[SPEAKER_02]: So the team has gone through tough times before and it's paying off now.
- 45:10[SPEAKER_02]: Ruff says Kooley had the testing today to see about post-Berturn, and they will have the results to borrow.
- 45:17[SPEAKER_02]: For those of you people are trying to say, you know, trade Kooley, you know, I mean, I don't see why you would.
- 45:26[SPEAKER_02]: And secondly, I don't think any team would be interested in trading for Kooley given what he just went through, like right now.
- 45:33[SPEAKER_02]: I don't even know if you can trade a player in that situation.
- 45:36[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, I agree with that.
- 45:39[SPEAKER_02]: Um, a couple last comments in here before we leaving before we get to your final thoughts.
- 45:45[SPEAKER_02]: Um, there was one comment in here.
- 45:48[SPEAKER_02]: I did want to bring up, um, well, it was, I figured who was, they said you can save money by putting Jordan Greenway on long time, long term, I, I said not, I'm surprised they haven't done it yet.
- 46:01[SPEAKER_02]: Do you, do you agree on that from Aunt?
- 46:04[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, that seems like the most likely possibility and they're probably just waiting to see what happens this week, I think.
- 46:12[SPEAKER_01]: Also, like, you know, you've got to give Greenway the opportunity to see if he has a possibility of playing as well.
- 46:21[SPEAKER_01]: Well, it wasn't investment that they factor in and it's someone they envision being a part of their team.
- 46:27[SPEAKER_01]: But if it's not going to happen this season,
- 46:30[SPEAKER_01]: you can learn from the champions of LTIR, the Vegas Golden Knights.
- 46:35[SPEAKER_01]: And what Mark Stone will likely go on for the 10th straight season by doing that potentially.
- 46:40[SPEAKER_01]: So yeah, I definitely see that as an option.
- 46:43[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, I mean, again, I, to your point, I don't see why they haven't done it yet, personally, given the deadlines here and you might have free up cap space.
- 46:50[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, where does he even fit into this lineup right now?
- 46:53[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I mean, potentially the fourth line.
- 46:55[SPEAKER_01]: He was pretty good on the penalty kill for a long time, but obviously he's had a lot of injury injuries issues.
- 47:01[SPEAKER_01]: So probably not likely, but I think they're just probably doing their due diligence.
- 47:07[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 47:07[SPEAKER_01]: Your final thoughts.
- 47:09[SPEAKER_01]: really really good when another one for no after the break.
- 47:13[SPEAKER_01]: I think there is an argument that the Sabers are currently at best team in the NHL which is which is really crazy to say.
- 47:21[SPEAKER_01]: The avalanche are still obviously very good.
- 47:24[SPEAKER_01]: They pretty much dominated the kings in LA last night so they of course still have their argument of their own but
- 47:33[SPEAKER_01]: 25, I think, is a 25, five and two since the sabers were in last place the morning of Tuesday, December 9th.
- 47:43[SPEAKER_01]: And they were last place in the eastern conference before that overtime went in headmitten when they were down in that game.
- 47:50[SPEAKER_01]: It is the most insane warpath I've ever seen this team go on and that includes the 2005 and 2006 seasons.
- 47:58[SPEAKER_01]: They are playing with a chemistry.
- 48:01[SPEAKER_01]: and a freedom in which I really haven't seen from not only a Saber's team by the hockey team in general.
- 48:09[SPEAKER_01]: They're basically getting contributions up and down the lineup and in every aspect of the game, offense defense, special teams aside from the power play.
- 48:17[SPEAKER_01]: Of course, most of the time.
- 48:20[SPEAKER_01]: And of course, goal-tending.
- 48:21[SPEAKER_01]: Align continues what is looking like to be one of the best offseason signings.
- 48:26[SPEAKER_01]: And I really do believe they can only go up from here.
- 48:31[SPEAKER_01]: Pretty crazy to say, given how good they've been, but this is a team that has been even I close set it before the game.
- 48:38[SPEAKER_01]: It was only a matter of time.
- 48:40[SPEAKER_01]: And we kept saying it and we kept hoping and it never transpired.
- 48:44[SPEAKER_01]: But the GM move was made at the perfect time, and now this new GM has the opportunity to really seal the deal.
- 48:52[SPEAKER_01]: So I think there's a bit of a revenge game.
- 48:54[SPEAKER_01]: They're their last loss against the penguins.
- 48:57[SPEAKER_01]: The day before the Olympic break, that would be exactly a month since their last loss in the penguins are obviously pretty good and exceeding expectations of their own.
- 49:06[SPEAKER_01]: So they got to be ready and yeah, looking forward to it.
- 49:09[SPEAKER_02]: from Saberwagon here in RJ playoff intro video is going to hit like crack.
- 49:15[SPEAKER_02]: I tend to agree with you breaking news breaking news Cole Smith was traded to Vegas from Nashville for a 2021 third round pick.
- 49:25[SPEAKER_02]: So another met two familiar with Cole Smith.
- 49:30[SPEAKER_02]: I do know it was at Connor is it Murphy or he was treated today too.
- 49:36[SPEAKER_02]: So, you know, some dominoes are starting to fall not early in a huge names or any big names yet, but, you know, I imagine that things will really start to heat up tomorrow.
- 49:46[SPEAKER_02]: We're going to do our NHL trade deadline show early some not sure.
- 49:50[SPEAKER_02]: Connor what your situation is for Friday, but during the day at least I will be live For the trade deadline, so keep an eye out for that.
- 49:58[SPEAKER_02]: Obviously we have a game Thursday We'll be on the post game for that too.
- 50:03[SPEAKER_02]: Sure.
- 50:03[SPEAKER_02]: I'm not sure again what your situation is Connor, but you know We'll definitely be live for that as well.
- 50:07[SPEAKER_02]: So a lot a lot of stuff to come and hopefully by this time Thursday night Post game show we were Tomo Robert Thomas being a Buffalo saver
- 50:18[SPEAKER_01]: That would, as our comments are said, hit like crack, hit like crack.
