- 2:53The next article from the Lane report is titled Business
- 2:56and Community Leaders Discussed Strategy at b NKY Annual Forum,
- 3:02written by David Rotenstein. Nearly two hundred business and community
- 3:07leaders mingled over coffee and breakfast as b NKY Growth Partnership,
- 3:13a regional economic development company, held its annual forum on
- 3:17January thirtieth at Turfway Park, Racing and Gaming. B NKY
- 3:22CEO Lee Kroume introduced keynote speaker Amy Halloway, President of
- 3:27consulting firm AHA Advisors. Kroum laid the groundwork for Halloway
- 3:33by explaining what b NKY does. We work with clients
- 3:37typically through what we call the site selection process. Kroom said.
- 3:42It's a corporate process of making decisions on where to
- 3:46invest and grow their businesses. Kroum described the process as
- 3:51risky and challenging. Yet, since nineteen eighty seven, b NKY
- 3:55and its predecessor, Northern Kentucky tri Ed worked with eight
- 4:00hundred and fourteen unique business projects that created approximately seventy
- 4:04nine thousand jobs in Northern Kentucky. B Inky Krim explained
- 4:10has three service lines, growth, strategy, and working with the
- 4:14Northern Kentucky Port Authority in the site selection process. Key
- 4:19achievements Kroom highlighted included the recent former Durobag and c
- 4:24Ando Roadhouse complex acquisition, spark House, and the one Inky Center.
- 4:31Kroom ticked off other accomplishments. While describing Northern Kentucky as
- 4:34a prosperous region, he urged attendees to see the region's
- 4:38challenges as positive indicators. There's no doubt that in our
- 4:42lives that we have friction. Some of you will drive
- 4:45home tonight. Kroom said to me, that is a really
- 4:49positive friction. That's good friction. That's the friction that you
- 4:53get from a growing community. Halloway was a consultant along
- 4:57with Ernst and Young to be in Ky for the
- 5:00production of the twenty twenty six Target Industry Study. That's
- 5:05what we're here to talk about today is what that
- 5:08targeting looks like for you, and specifically which industries we
- 5:12recommend that you focus your economic development efforts, Halloway said.
- 5:17Halloway framed her discussion in terms of what she described
- 5:20as target clusters, an approach that takes a holistic approach
- 5:24to economic development instead of a singular business attraction. One
- 5:29cluster driven approach means that we're tackling this from all
- 5:32sorts of different angles, she said. The region, according to Halloway,
- 5:37should be focused on targeting for industry clusters advanced manufacturing,
- 5:42information technology, life sciences, and supply chain management and services.
- 5:48Halloway also spoke about workforce development and adapting to external pressures,
- 5:54including the uncertainties surrounding the Trump administration's tariff policies, demographic
- 5:59changes in the local workforce, and the role automation is
- 6:03playing in the local economy. Focused positive messaging about the
- 6:07region's innumerable assets, Halloway said, is key to economic success.
- 6:13If you can continue to get that message out loudly
- 6:16and clearly to companies in this field, the opportunities are
- 6:19going to be extraordinary and you're going to be able
- 6:22to drive growth here in the way that you want
- 6:25it to happen and achieve that future that you all
- 6:28have in mind for the community. Halloway stressed. The next
- 6:32article from the Lane Report is titled dan Oh's Seasoning

- 9:05Lane Report is titled What will Happen in the Bourbon
- 9:08Industry in twenty twenty six? Written by Kevin O. Stennett.
- 9:14As we head into twenty twenty six, the bourbon world
- 9:17finds itself at a crossroads. After more than a decade
- 9:21of explosive growth and near constant scarcity on shelves, the
- 9:25industry is entering a period of recalibration, creativity, and consumer
- 9:30driven change. Here's what bourbon enthusiasts, from casual sippers to
- 9:35serious collectors, should expect this year. Market shift from boom
- 9:40to balance. After years of rapid expansion, the bourbon boom
- 9:44has moderated. Massive inventories, particularly here in Kentucky, which now
- 9:49has over sixteen million barrels aging in rick houses, have
- 9:54shifted the narrative from shortage to oversupply. Major producers are
- 9:58responding accordingly. Jim Beam is pausing production at its flagship
- 10:03Claremont distillery for all of twenty twenty six to better
- 10:07align output with demand and invest in facility upgrades. The
- 10:12industry as a whole is embracing more discipline production, aiming
- 10:15to harmonize supply with actual consumption trends. This trend should
- 10:20bring fewer panic by shortages and more stability on shelves,
- 10:25with some previously allocated bottles potentially becoming more accessible pricing
- 10:30and value a more rational market. High inflation in sky
- 10:35high collector prices marked much of the past decade, but
- 10:38twenty twenty six is beginning to feel more value oriented.
- 10:43Core bottles in the thirty dollars to seventy dollars range
- 10:46are gaining renewed attention as consumers drink more thoughtfully rather
- 10:50than chasing hype. Premiumization isn't dead, but it must now
- 10:56be justified. Consumers want real reasons for price jumps, such
- 11:00as age statements, providence, and meaningful craft credentials, not merely prestige.
- 11:07Expect limited editions to survive, but with a sharper consumer
- 11:11focus on quality over scarcity. Theater What's coming to shelves
- 11:16in twenty twenty six, Collectors and enthusiasts have some exciting
- 11:20releases to look forward to, especially in the ultra aged
- 11:24and rare category four roses Potential twenty one year Anthology
- 11:29Origin Bourbon possibly the oldest four roses ever bottled. Blade
- 11:35in Bow's thirty year Bourbon, an extraordinary age statement that's
- 11:40almost unheard of in the category. Special expressions from Heaven
- 11:45Hill and others hint at collaborative or blended masterpieces, pushing
- 11:50creative boundaries. While some releases remain speculative until official announcements,
- 11:55twenty twenty six promises rare bottles that will make collector's
- 11:59hearts felt. Barrel trends, science and sustainability, and secondary markets
- 12:06barrels continue to shape Bourbon's evolution, both literally and economically.
- 12:12Used Bourbon barrels are in demand not just for spirits,
- 12:15but across brewing, craft, distilling, and even food and beverage sectors,
- 12:20driven by sustainability and heritage appeal. Finishing techniques aren't disappearing,
- 12:26they're getting more thoughtful. Novol cask types rum wine, for example,
- 12:32will still be used, but with greater intention and transparency.
- 12:37As warehouses juggle huge inventories, suppliers and cooperages are adapting
- 12:43to meet global barrel demand with tighter quality controls. In essence,
- 12:48barrels are evolving from marketing tools to taste, design, instruments,
- 12:53and the secondary barrel market itself is a story worth watching.
- 12:57Whiskey styles, More Diverse, City, More Choice twenty twenty six
- 13:03isn't just about bourbon. It's about diversification within American whisky.
- 13:08American single malt continues gaining traction as a distinct category
- 13:12with increasing recognition and quality. Rye whiskys renaissance broadens with
- 13:18innovative mash bills and hybrid styles expanding beyond the classic
- 13:23spicy profile. Blending, once seen as utilitarian, is now a
- 13:28craft discipline, with brands turning sophisticated blends into their signature offerings.
- 13:35This variety gives drinkers more ways to explore and appreciate
- 13:38American whiskey outside traditional bourbon formats, consumer habits, and cultural shifts.
- 13:46The way people drink bourbon is changing. Slowing overall alcohol consumption,
- 13:51notably among younger adults, is affecting demand. Sessionable lower proof
- 13:57products are growing alongside high proof enthusiasts, releases, mindful drinking culture,
- 14:02and wellness trends mean consumers are choosing quality over quantity.
- 14:08Expect bourbon brands to respond with clearer, purpose built offerings,
- 14:13whether for cocktails, contemplative sipping, or special occasions. Final word,
- 14:19A smarter bourbon world twenty twenty six isn't a year
- 14:23of collapse. It's a year of maturation. The industry is
- 14:27shedding the narrative of endless boom and instead embracing balance, creativity,
- 14:33and responsiveness to what modern drinkers usually want. From stable
- 14:37pricing and intelligent production to unique releases and evolving beryl science,
- 14:43Bourbon's future looks thoughtful, flavorful, and full of stories worth sipping.
- 14:48The next article comes from the February fourth, twenty twenty
- 14:52six edition of here Lexington and is titled India and
- 14:56US Finalized Trade Agreement. What it means for both nations.
- 15:01Key deal linked to terror production, energy purchases, and agricultural protections.
- 15:08The recent finalization of a significant trade agreement between India
- 15:12and the United States represents a transformative moment in diplomatic
- 15:16and economic relations between the two nations. By reducing U
- 15:21S tariffs on Indian goods from twenty five percent to
- 15:24eighteen percent in securing India's commitment to cease importing Russian
- 15:29crude oil. The deal aims to foster productive economic partnership Furthermore,
- 15:35India will purchase five hundred billion dollars worth of American goods,
- 15:39covering vital sectors such as energy, agriculture, and coal products.
- 15:44The agreement is being heralded as a potential catalyst for
- 15:48economic growth and trade enhancement for both countries. Prime Minister
- 15:52Narinda Modi's government has received praise for this achievement, which
- 15:57is anticipated to benefit Indian exports orders who have been
- 16:01confronted with high tariffs on their products. With this agreement,
- 16:05the hope is that local businesses will see improved competitiveness
- 16:09through reduced trade barriers. However, it's essential to consider multiple perspectives,
- 16:15particularly the implications for sensitive agricultural and dairy sectors in
- 16:19India that play a crucial role in the country and
- 16:23employ a significant portion of the population. Detailed aspects of
- 16:28the agreement. The trade agreement includes several pivotal elements. One
- 16:33terraff reduction. US tariffs on Indian goods will be lowered
- 16:37from twenty five percent to eighteen percent, allowing easier access
- 16:41for Indian products in the American market. Two, cease of
- 16:46Russian oil imports. India has committed to halting its imports
- 16:50of Russian crude oil, aligning itself with US policy expectations.
- 16:56Three purchase commitment, a significant pledge where India will procure
- 17:01five hundred billion dollars in American goods, significantly enhancing bilateral trade.
- 17:08Four Protection of sensitive sectors. The agreement is touted as
- 17:13protective of crucial sectors such as agriculture and dairy, ensuring
- 17:18that Indian farmers are not adversely impacted by increased competition.
- 17:23And five analysts caution. Experts call for clarity on specific
- 17:29products covered by the deal, timelines for terra productions and
- 17:33the elimination of non tariff barriers, as well as skepticism
- 17:37regarding the feasibility of meeting the five hundred billion dollar
- 17:41import target. Political reactions. While the ruling coalition has praised
- 17:47Prime Minister motive for securing this deal, opposition parties have
- 17:52voiced concerns about its potential impacts on India's agriculture and
- 17:56dairy industries. They argue that the agree may expose these
- 18:01sectors to heightened competition without adequate protections. The debate surrounding
- 18:06this agreement reflects the complex dynamics of international trade and
- 18:11domestic economic security. Trade Minister's assurance. In response to opposition criticisms,
- 18:19Trade Minister push Goyal has assured that the agreement offers
- 18:24necessary safeguards for India's agriculture and dairy sectors. He emphasized
- 18:29that this deal is comparatively more favorable than agreements with
- 18:34neighboring countries, which could enhance India's standing in regional trade.
- 18:39Economic implications. This agreement follows months of negotiation and has
- 18:44emerged from previous tensions over imposing steep tariffs in India's
- 18:49energy policies. The reduction in tariffs not only aims to
- 18:53ease trade, but also to strengthen the economic fabric tying
- 18:57India in the United States together. As both nations navigate
- 19:01evolving global markets, this deal could serve as a springboard
- 19:05for further cooperation on commerce and investment. Looking ahead, as
- 19:11analysts and stakeholders closely monitor the implementation of this trade agreement,
- 19:17the emphasis will shift to evaluating its real world impacts
- 19:21on both Indian and American economies. The ability to meet
- 19:26ambitious import targets, safeguard sensitive sectors, and respond to market
- 19:31conditions will be critical as these two nations look to
- 19:35solidify their economic partnership and drive growth. Summary and call
- 19:40to action. The newly established trade agreement between India and
- 19:44the United States represents a significant opportunity for economic growth
- 19:48and development across sectors. While it is essential to acknowledge
- 19:53the concerns of various sectors, this deal could pave the
- 19:57way for greater collaboration in entrepreneurs innovation. Engagement from communities
- 20:03and local businesses will be vital as both countries move
- 20:06forward together. As Lexington, Kentucky continues to embrace entrepreneurship and innovation,
- 20:13keeping an eye on international partnerships and trade developments like
- 20:17this can inspire local economic growth. The next article from
- 20:21here Lexington is titled Pepsi COO's price reductions signal strategic
- 20:26shift for twenty twenty six. Company takes steps to combat
- 20:31declining demand and streamlined product offerings. Pepsi Co Incorporated, a
- 20:36major player in the snack and beverage industry, has recently
- 20:40announced a series of strategic initiatives aimed at revitalizing its
- 20:45market presence. These changes come amid declining consumer demand and
- 20:50affordability concerns that have affected sales across its popular brands,
- 20:55including Lays, Dorito's, Cheetos and Tostitos, highlighting the resilience and
- 21:01adaptability of corporations in today's economy. PepsiCo's decisions reflect a
- 21:07proactive approach to addressing current market challenges. As of February third,
- 21:12twenty twenty five, PepsiCo's stock price stood at one hundred
- 21:16sixty two dollars in eighty five cents, following a modest
- 21:20increase of zero point zero five percent from the previous close.
- 21:25The company aims to bolster its financial performance while ensuring
- 21:29product accessibility for consumers, which is particularly crucial as inflationary
- 21:35pressures continue to impact household budgets. The latest report indicates
- 21:40that the company has been facing a decline in snack
- 21:43sales volumes by one percent and a staggering four percent
- 21:48drop in North American beverage volumes, sparking the need for
- 21:52immediate action price reductions in response to consumer demand. In
- 21:57a significant move, PepsiCo has announced a price reduction of
- 22:01up to fifteen percent on its key snack brands. This
- 22:05decision comes after a period of price hikes driven by
- 22:09increased costs and packaging, ingredients and transportation. CEO Ramon Laguta

- 22:30popular snacks, Pepsiico hopes to not only increase sales, but

- 22:40to potentially capitalize on heightened consumer spending around major events
- 22:46such as the Super Bowl, which often sees an uptick
- 22:49in snack purchases. Streamlining product offerings. Additionally, Pepsiico has announced
- 22:57plans to streamline its product portfolio by eliminating nearly twenty
- 23:01percent of its offerings, a strategic move likely influenced by
- 23:06recent investments from activist group Elliot Investment Management. This initiative
- 23:12is poised to help the company focus on its most
- 23:15profitable and in demand product lines, thereby enhancing overall operational efficiency.
- 23:22A streamlined approach is anticipated to result in cost savings
- 23:26that can further facilitate investments in critical areas such as
- 23:31health oriented product development. Focus on healthier products aligning with
- 23:37shifting consumer preferences. Pepsi Co is also prioritizing the introduction
- 23:42of healthier product lines. The company aims to deliver snacks
- 23:47and beverages with fewer artificial ingredients while incorporating added nutritional
- 23:52benefits like protein and fiber. New offerings such as Doido's
- 23:57Protein and Pepsi Prebioti are already witnessing strong consumer interests,
- 24:03indicative of a growing market for health oriented products. Market
- 24:08response and stock performance. The market has responded positively to
- 24:13these strategic announcements, with PepsiCo shares climbing two point five
- 24:17percent following the news. Investors appear to be optimistic about
- 24:21the company's direction, favoring proactive adaptations that prioritize consumer affordability
- 24:28and product innovation as economic indicators face uncertainty. The stock
- 24:34market's response highlights confidence and PepsiCo's ability to navigate challenges
- 24:39effectively conclusion a forward thinking strategy. In summary, PepsiCo's recent
- 24:46initiatives demonstrate commitment to adapt to the changing landscape of
- 24:50consumer demand while bolstering its market position By implementing price
- 24:56reductions and focusing on healthier product lines. The the company
- 25:00aims to enhance affordability and strengthen consumer relationships as the
- 25:05landscape for businesses continue to evolve. PepsiCo's approach serves as
- 25:10a noteworthy example of how innovation and responsiveness can lead
- 25:15to sustained success. Our next article comes from the February fourth,
- 25:20twenty twenty six edition of the Louisville Courier Journal and
- 25:24is titled Ford says January sales down five point three
- 25:27percent as it discontinues two popular SUVs, written by Jamie LaRue.
- 25:35Ford Motor Company reported its January US sales came in
- 25:39lower than a year ago period, brought down in part
- 25:42by the discontinuation of some models, but the automaker did
- 25:46see strong sales of its smaller pickup trucks. On February fourth,
- 25:51Ford reported that for the month of January, it sold
- 25:55one hundred thirty five thousand, three hundred sixty two vehicles

- 26:14one hundred two vehicles sold in January, but sales for
- 26:18the Ford brand dropped six percent to one hundred twenty
- 26:21eight thousand, two hundred sixty vehicles sold. Most analysts have
- 26:26been predicting January sales across the industry would be lower
- 26:29than a year ago period, citing the severe snowstorm nationwide
- 26:34that may have kept some buyers home bound, and the
- 26:37fact that January is historically a slower than usual sales month.
- 26:41Although this January had twenty six selling days compared with
- 26:45the year ago period at twenty five, Ford had strong
- 26:49sales in January, with gains coming from America's most affordable pickup,
- 26:53the Maverick, and larger sguvs with Expedition, Explorer and Bronco,
- 26:59along with Ranger and Transit vans. Ford spokesperson Sae deep
- 27:04set in an email. While Ford total sales were off
- 27:08five point three percent over last January, some can be
- 27:11attributed to the sunsetting of the Ford Escape and Lincoln Coursair.
- 27:16Customers can continue to find both vehicles on dealer lots.
- 27:21Ford also saw a fifty point four percent increase in
- 27:24Mustang sales for the month. In fact, the car division
- 27:28was the only division within Ford to sea gains in January.
- 27:32Ford's SUV sales were down two percent. Its truck sales
