- 0:30on Absolute top form. It's chock full of laughs this episode. I know
- 0:35it feels a bit redundant to say that upfront, and the comedy should speak
- 0:39for itself, but my goodness, what a what a collaboration. If you

- 0:48You That's why bfytwpod dot com for everything they've got. You can follow them

- 1:03check out a few of their episodes, I mean check out myself and order.
- 1:07We guested on their podcast last month and it was so much fun.
- 1:11We had an absolute blast. Maybe start with that one. And then you
- 1:15know, just keep binging, keep listening, give them a five star rating,
- 1:18all that good podcast stuff. And as you can tell from the episode
- 1:21title, we leaped into the world of cyberpunk twenty seventy seven with them and
- 1:25had we had such a laugh in the whole cyberpunk genre. Whether you're a
- 1:29fan of cyberpunk or not, there's something to be found for you in this
- 1:33episode, for sure. But if you are a fan of cyberpunk and you
- 1:36have a sense of humor, this might be the most perfect two hours of
- 1:40content for you ever. Maybe ever. That's a bold claim, but I
- 1:45stand by it, and look before we roll on with that. If you
- 1:48enjoy our podcast, if you enjoy what we do here and would like to
- 1:51support us financially, you can head over to patreon dot com forward slash Gate

- 2:08where it's a little game between Audre and Jason between our captains, and you
- 2:14also get access to the zoom recording of each and every Gateleaper's episode where you
- 2:17can see our lovely faces and this episode was no difference. So check out
- 2:23our Patreon if that's the sort of thing you're interested in. If not,
- 2:28thanks for listening. Anyway, to share this episode with a friend, a
- 2:31loved one, a family member, someone you hate, why not could be
- 2:36a bit bit of revenge in some way. I don't know. I don't
- 2:38know. I'm tired. I've had three coffees today, but I'm tired.
- 2:43So I'm going to end this introduction and throw it over to the full Gatesleaper's
- 2:46crew and two thirds of because fuck you That's why. As we leap into
- 2:51the world of cyberpunk, Hello, and welcome to gate Leapers, the pop
- 3:14culture game show that shines a spotlight onto everyone's favorite fandoms. I'm your games
- 3:19master and CEO of the Arisaka Corporation, Matt Watson. But of course we
- 3:24couldn't play these games without our captains, a pair of singular character blank canvases
- 3:30that make for great video game protagonists. First, she's neither cyber nor punk,
- 3:35but according to this algorithm, her predicted year of death is twenty seventy
- 3:38seven. It's oldra Stephenson. Incredible. My grandma lived to ninety five eighty
- 3:46seven might make it a bit further. Yeah, incredible, and he's an
- 3:50expert at edge running. It's Jason Nowen. What's up? Chooms, how's
- 3:54it going? I'm ready? Hello, captains? Are you ready for a
- 4:00series of games set in a contemporary open world video game that began life as
- 4:03a tabletop APPG what I had no idea. I had no idea that that
- 4:10was true. And no I'm not because I'll be honest here. The context
- 4:15of this episode is that Cyberpunk seventy seven is a video game. Yes,
- 4:18I've never played it. I wasn't interested in it. We have a friend,
- 4:24Chris Reagan. He plays it a ton. Yeah, and everything I
- 4:27know about Cyberpunk is generally from him. Okay, due to friendship. Yeah,
- 4:30yeah, just due a friendship. That's yeah. An older is a
- 4:33similar situation for you. Yeah, I've never played it. I was looking
- 4:39at like the cyberpunk genre and there were a couple of things on there that
- 4:44I was like, oh shit, I've read that. Oops, that's actually
- 4:46that's post cyberpunk. I know. Yeah, I think before a show show
- 4:51notes, Before this episode, we had a small discussion of what is cyberpunk
- 4:56versus cyber gough and doesn't even matter really Okay, okay, okay, I
- 5:03just wanted to throw our rentom works. I'm feeling combative. Yeah, it
- 5:08feels appropriate for the situation. Yeah, and as a as a young millennial,
- 5:12I've got to ask when cyber emo gonna have its time? Um well,
- 5:16it honestly sounds like you both need a little bit of help. Yeah,
- 5:20yeah, for sure. Um So, to play these games about cyberpunk,
- 5:25you'll each need to bring a sexy, augmented mercenary to do all of
- 5:29the shooting for you. Jason, who is your teammates today? He's a
- 5:33podcaster, a storyteller, and a massive stoner. It's Uggie of because fuck
- 5:39you, that's why. Hello, Auggie, welcome to the podcast. Yeah,
- 5:42how's it going? Thank you for having me, Thanks for being here.
- 5:45How you doing men, I'm doing great. I'm kind of hoping you're
- 5:48something of a cyberpunk twenty seventy seven expert based on what our captains have just
- 5:54been. Definitely in comparison that the grand scheme of things. Sure, yeah,
- 6:04I love that. Everything's relative. Good you played it, I mean
- 6:08that's a that's a great start. Are you a big fan of the game,
- 6:11Yeah, I am. I like the story, I really do,
- 6:14and I like the characters Eve oh yeah, super y. Were you can?
- 6:18I ask Aggie were you there? Because we're probably gonna talk about this
- 6:21some time in the episode, might as well be here. Were you guys
- 6:25there since launch? Because for those who don't know, Cyberpunk was it's it's
- 6:30start as a video game was filled with controversy and kind of for those who
- 6:36live in the video game world, very like reminiscent of No Man's Sky with
- 6:41bad launch support and buggy issues from a Triple A game, very lading question.
- 6:46Yeah, like, were you guys there from the start or like did
- 6:48you come into it later? What were your thoughts if you were from the
- 6:51start? I'm just interested. I was there from the start. I think
- 6:56I even pre ordered the game if I remember. I don't know if then
- 7:00canceled it and then got it again. Anyway, it's just the whole version
- 7:03it. But yeah, I was there when it was all buggy. I
- 7:08honestly, it's kind of weird for me because I had that kind of weird
- 7:12moment of either I was just too high to care or the luckiest son of
- 7:15a bitch in that in Night City. But I didn't really run into bugs
- 7:19until like, wow, what a few months down the line when really started
- 7:24becoming a problem. And then after a while and just like stopped playing it
- 7:27for a while, and then I'm back in it and play the shit out
- 7:30of it for hours where it was supposed to be. Yeah, I think
- 7:38I've run into more bugs now than I actually have at launch. Channger to
- 7:43say, but but you still love it, you still know I still enjoy
- 7:46it, like despite all the bugs, like not a lot of them are
- 7:48game breaking, So but I'm a kind of guy that's played a lot of
- 7:50like Fallout and like New Vegas and stuff. Every game's got its bugs,
- 7:55even the bad well even the really good games have like the worst bugs.
- 8:00It you get past it at some point, okay, okay, all right,
- 8:03no, g you know G Yeah, I like I like my aunts.
- 8:07I saw you're trying to trip up a game of that trying I wanted
- 8:13to if Aggie was there. I wanted to celebrate the fact that he's an
- 8:18og. Yes, he's stayed with it. You know, he's not a
- 8:20bandwagon. You know, it's absolutely like me. Yes, yes, okay,
- 8:26perfect stuff. Let's move on. If it's Ultra who is joining you
- 8:30today. He's a podcaster and a fellow games master who Matt is really trying
- 8:35very hard to impress, because fuck you, that's why. Hello, what
- 8:43what kind of gonk do you take me for? Matt? Because I am
- 8:50one hundred percent gonk, So you're absolutely right, like I am absolutely pure
- 8:54beef gonk is what I am. So it's the exceptional all gonk all the
- 8:58time. Hi, yes, Hi, I am trying just as hard to
- 9:03impress Matt andre and Jason gately Brews as he might be to impress me.
- 9:09I guess that's why. Um yeah, so no luck. Yeah, I've
- 9:13said this price before, but game recognized game Oh I mean genuinely, I've
- 9:18never heard him use those words in that order. Okay, so compliment,
- 9:24yes, yeah, definitely, I'll take it. I'll take it. I'll
- 9:26take it. I'm a massive, massive fan of your podcast as a very
- 9:30recently I'm obsessive panel shows. Hence White this is happening, and you've been
- 9:35doing this for longer than us. You your elder statesman miracle. But we
- 9:39we should not like hold that particular crown because no, none of us are
- 9:45from Britain, where the panel show originated, and blew up him an actual
- 9:48popular thing. We stole it from the British like Americans have done for century,
- 9:54so you know it's proud of it. So there's always a tiny bit
- 9:58of shame in this in our in our pin with no no as a as
- 10:01a soon to be proud Anglo American, I've got to play both sides and
- 10:07say we've now stolen you, so the greatest, that's the greatest of literally
- 10:18stole a full British person. Uh yeah, no, super excited. As
- 10:24for my cyberpunk of Bona Fides, I used to be part. I used
- 10:28to be part of the gag dot com stream team. Uhh. I was
- 10:33literally given a free copy at launch boring, and I'm feel confident I played
- 10:41the living shit out of it and I thoroughly enjoyed it. Like I don't
- 10:45know if it was because it was the PC version or what, but I
- 10:48didn't experience the bugs that everyone else was talking about. Like Augie, my
- 10:50playthrough was fine. I had a great time and I absolutely loved it.
- 10:54I didn't see what the hell everyone was complaining about, um, how do
- 11:01we get free copies of games? Matt? How do we do that?
- 11:03I mean, for me, the secret is knowing somebody. The only reason
- 11:09I got on the Go come stream team is because a buddy of mine was
- 11:13also on it and he said, what about art? I'm like, all
- 11:16right, you know I will. I will shill for a company in exchange
- 11:20for free games. Yes, an if any happened to be listening now,
- 11:24I will still do the same. Yeah. Yeah, for Cyberpunk twenty seventy
- 11:30eight, or what if you're gonna call the Yeah, there you go.
- 11:33All right, well fantastic. I'm glad you've both played the game. That
- 11:37makes me feel so much more confident about the next ninety minutes. Yeah.
- 11:41I wouldn't call myself an expert by any means, but I have played the
- 11:45game multiple times compared to these two. Well, before we move on,
- 11:50I want to give a quick shout out to Stevie, the third member of
- 11:52because fuck you. That's why now we can skip him. He couldn't be
- 11:58bothered to show up. Forget that guy. He's he's off in Florida visiting
- 12:03his parents or some nonsense lame being a good family member. Yeah, gross,
- 12:09but very much looking forward to a to a future episode we have planned
- 12:13between between our two podcasts with featuring all six of us. I'm but for
- 12:18now, this is cyberpunk, and so first I'm going to need some team
- 12:22names, some corporate branding for each of you to very much match the cyberpunk
- 12:28world. So we'll begin with Jason and Oggie. I would like a cyberpunk
- 12:33twenty seventy seven themed team name. Please, all right, age, I'll
- 12:35start just to give you time to think if you haven't thought of team names,
- 12:39also because these are bad, and I know that I thought of I
- 12:43thought of h I like, I like, I don't like this actually,
- 12:46uh you're gonna say anyway, yeah, baby baby chums. I just like,
- 12:50I just like I just love the word chum. I just love that
- 12:52so much. Baby. Yeah. I thought of the silver hand, like
- 13:00baby tumors. Yeah, honestly, I still thought that's what he was saying.
- 13:05Oh, I was like, okay, bit bit on a comedy podcast
- 13:09to bring up pediatric cancer tumors. MS, Okay, that's so that's bad,
- 13:15that's not it. We know that I thought of the silver hands because
- 13:20Keanu Reeves. But that's also like a faction in Skyrim, so that's not
- 13:22great. Okay. Yeah, and then I also like, just this is
- 13:26a very plain and boring one. But cyber psychos, the cyber psychos.
- 13:30Oh, that's a good one. No, I do like baby chumers,
- 13:33though we can make a better vibe, like our name could be Okay,
- 13:41comma baby tumors to come off. Look, I'm just not understanding the American
- 13:46accent. I genuinely don't know what the word could be if not tumors.
- 13:50No, it's chue. No, because they call each other chum in the
- 13:54in the cyberpunk world. Okay, they call each other the chumb Yeah,
- 13:56baby boomers. I knew this was. It's a term of endearment, not
- 14:01a cancer diagnosis. Okay, A man, I don't know. I mean
- 14:07I got one. Yeah, going okie, Flaming Crotchman, I'm gonna guess
- 14:13that's a reference, is something, and if it is, yes, I
- 14:16love I need very little context to Yeah, would you like to explain the
- 14:22context? Okay, there's a character in the game by the name of Flaming
- 14:26crotch Man. Oh that's all you need that we have to do it.
- 14:35Yeah, you have to do you have to do it now. Okay,
- 14:41that's the team names the Flaming crotch Man, the Flaming crotch Man. I
- 14:45like it all because we fair. It's a great way to get into the
- 14:48skin of your opponents early on. And let's let's find out what your opponents
- 14:54branding will be. Ultra Aaron order, if you have anything, I I
- 15:00think I've got a great one. Yeah, I just I have like basic
- 15:01shit cyberpunks. Yeah. Yeah, for I want to put twenty seven seven,
- 15:07I'm gonna nix that, so things of this nature is all I've got.
- 15:15So I'm very excited about yours. Allow me to pitch um because I
- 15:18don't know about you, Audra, but me myself, I consider myself to
- 15:22be something of a nomad. I like to explore, I like to wander,
- 15:26and I like to do it with my closest friends and family. Right,
- 15:30so I think it would be appropriate if we called ourselves the Audra Caldos,
- 15:35after the alder Cardos Caldos, the the nomad group in the game.
- 15:39I know, I love a bit of word play, and I will take
- 15:46a while to kid. Yeah, and I'm vain so putting my name in
- 15:48things. Yeah, that's fine if you can't buzz in during the quick fire
- 15:52round off the show. Very simple. I love it. Yeah, I'm
- 15:58gonna look at this, Look at this captain's branding you've had going on recently.
- 16:00You've had Ultra in in two team names. Yeah, crazy Audra in
- 16:04the Douche. Yeah. Yeah. Do you want to put your branding at
- 16:12any point just down the road? No, I mean we have the Flaming
- 16:15Crotchman. Cost can you can you spell our team name roughly uh A d
- 16:26r A. That's oh, you got that, bet? No, I
- 16:30realized d os u A L d os. I just I realized. I
- 16:36said, can you spell that? But then the first half of it that
- 16:38was like my name, it was like my name, I can, okay,
- 16:44mistress uh c A L d os. And because I'm gonna have to
- 16:52say it about twenty times this episode, it's the Ultra Caldos. Yes,
- 16:56the Ultra Caldos. Beautiful all right, So we have the Flaming Crotchman versus
- 17:00the Audra Caldos. There we go. We'll already fluffed it up in their
- 17:04first time saying it. Okay, all right, And if you're listening to
- 17:08this and thinking I just about understood the references so far based on the game
- 17:12being named after a genre I'm familiar with. But apart from that, Oh,
- 17:18don't worry, here's alder with a little segment we like to call passing
- 17:22knowledge. Cyberpunk twenty seventy seven is a video game developed by CD Project Read
- 17:29in association with Mike pond Smith, released in twenty twenty. If it feels
- 17:33like it was only released last year, it's because pandemic time is weird.
- 17:37It's fine, don't worry about it. Slow, deep breath. Your chord
- 17:41is all an adrenaline spiked but the soft activated your hormone blockers. Nothing happened.
- 17:45You're alive and well. The game was inspired by the eighties T t
- 17:48RBG, also developed by pond Smith. The game matches the tone of the
- 17:52cyberpunk genre by joining low lives with high tech, but instead of playing as
- 17:57notorious high tech low life Elon Musk in Cyberpunk twenty seventy seven, you play
- 18:03as a mercenary named V as they struggle to deal with a mysterious cybernetic implant
- 18:08that threatens to take over their body and memories. Arisaka is in chaos striving
- 18:14to restore even a semblance of order. It seems you the Afterlife are safe
- 18:19for now. Good to know. At the end of development, there was
- 18:23a massive crunch time, resulting in developers working wild amounts of overtime and three
- 18:30delays on the release date. I don't know about you, but the only
- 18:33crunch time I want in my life is a delicious bowl of cap and crunch
- 18:37or the Crunch Chocolate bar, or honestly, if I'm on a road trip,
- 18:40crunch and munch is pretty good. You know, if we're if we're
- 18:45in the UK, a crunchy bar would be fine. Now I get the
- 18:48reference. That is it? Those are the only crunch times that are acceptable,
- 18:52not bad. Bryant Feedback noted these delays were widely ridiculed, especially since
- 18:59the game still came out a little bit buggy, but once it was playable,
- 19:03it was everything that many had hoped for, a fun game that tackles
- 19:07the heavy themes of capitalism, transhumanism, socioeconomic decay, and the heaviest theme
- 19:15of them all, Keanu Reeves. Yes, yes, Keanu Reeves is in
- 19:19this game. Wait to fuck up, Samurai. We have a city to
- 19:26burn. You see in the game a lot. Or is that just like,
- 19:34yeah, yeah, yeah, he's season in the game quite a lot.
- 19:40Oh really, the second most lines of one character. Yeah. If
- 19:44you don't like Keanu Reeves and therefore do not exist, right, yeah,
- 19:49you will not like this game. But yeah, he appears at least once
- 19:55in virtually every mission you take from a certain point in the story onwards.
- 19:59Who maybe I should play Cyberpunk. If you like like Keanu Reeves, you
- 20:03will not go amiss. He's got some incredible lines in this he delivers them
- 20:07sometimes. I don't know as much about Cyberpunk as as most I think for
- 20:14us Layman, Yeah, the thing of Keanu Reeves is the thing that it's
- 20:18taking over in your mind is that it's basically they think that Keanu Reeves character
- 20:22is dead, but he is kind of taking over your body and mind.
- 20:26Spoilers, I didn't know that. Oh my god, that was literally that's
- 20:30literally the first paragraph of the Wikipedia. So yeah, well I was ribbon.
- 20:37So if it's a spoiler, I am so sorry. Blame Wikipedia.
- 20:41Fascinating though, but listen, I feel like it shouldn't be a spoiler,
- 20:45but like part of the advertising because honestly, Keanu Reeves can take over my
- 20:48body whenever he wants. I mean, you just have it like I'm not
- 20:52doing. The game had like three release dates if you ever't played it by
- 20:56now, that's true, that's fair. No, I was I was thinking
- 21:03because he was so heavy in the marketing. I was wondering if it was
- 21:04like a Call of Duty situation where they're like, oh, Danny Trey,
- 21:07who's in this game? And it's like one line. I guess technically,
- 21:12yeah, they got the rights to his face. No, no, they
- 21:15got their money's worth for Kiano on this one. Guaranteed. I saw something
- 21:21of like he spent like fifteen days in recording booth for his lines. Oh
- 21:26my god, so like he's got a lot of them. That's insane.
- 21:29Yeah, not stop for twenty four hours at a time. Yes, never,
- 21:33break didn't stop. What a prole the producers see he did it.
- 21:41He kept everybody there. Everybody. Yeah, the thirty second hour, he's
- 21:45like, oh all right, guys, what about this angle? You know,
- 21:48just like he's he's putting in, put into the games. He's loving
- 21:52it. WHOA well I come from Thanks Oh wait sorry, wrong line,
- 21:57Well thank you, Uldra and everyone else. I hope that's cult listeners up
- 22:02on Cyberpunk twenty seventy seven, and if not, there'll still be roughly one
- 22:06laugh per minute for you to enjoy, so good value as a podcast,
- 22:07I reckon just before we get to today's games, I've asked each player to
- 22:12bring in a muse that's something that inspires them or something that they love from
- 22:18this particular fandom. Cyberpunk twenty seventy seven is inspiring to me because it reminds
- 22:22players what our world would look like if we continue down the path of hyper
- 22:26capitalism, and that'll be sixty dollars to experience that revelation. Thank you,
- 22:33Jason. What's inspiring you from Cyberpunk? Yeah? What's inspiring me is my
- 22:37only touchdown too. Cyberpunk is the anime series that was released by Netflix Runners.
- 22:42I am the resident anime fan here at gate Leaper's. I guess I
- 22:47just put that on myself now. But yeah, yeah, but moreover,
- 22:52I'm not a big studio guy. There is one studio in anime that I
- 22:56put above all else. I love everything they do. It's Studio a Trigger
- 23:00and they did the anime for Edge Runners, which yeah, just Dangentually,
- 23:04I like Studio Trigger. Um, but I think they also won some kind
- 23:07of anime award for that series as well. So if you haven't watched it,
- 23:11or if you aren't a video game person, um, just watch the
- 23:15anime series if you can, because it's really good. Very ghost in the
- 23:18Shell nice hell yeah, alright to two thumbs up for the Edge Runners anime.
- 23:22Nice. Yeah, it's a good recommendation. I loved Ghosts. Yeah
- 23:26yeah, nice yeah, good mews, very good. Mus Let's move on
- 23:30over to your teammates on the Flaming crutch Men. It's ukay. What is
- 23:36inspiring you from cyberpunk? Oh man? A particular character from Cyberpunk? Um?
- 23:41Oh yeah, comeine again, I will kill you. What is the
- 23:48rhyme with? What do you got? Lacky bells? No? Okay,
- 23:53you're fine. So jack character is gonna be so. Jackie Wells is one
- 24:00of those characters that, like, for the first time in a long time
- 24:03a game made me feel for like like actually felt like a friend kind of
- 24:10person, you know, and they actually when what they did in the storyline,
- 24:12it's just like it twists your heart and you're like damn, like damn
- 24:17it, you got me, Damn you you made me feel something for an
- 24:21inanimate object. That's rendering of an inanimate object, double betrayal. It's always
- 24:29the sign of a good game when it when it makes you care about the
- 24:30characters, when it's like good writing alongside it, that's a that's a fantastic
- 24:34musicgie. Always good to be inspired by the characters from the media, just
- 24:40generically. I guess I just realized in my head I was like the characters
- 24:42from the media. It's like, yeah, that could sentence could have been
- 24:45said in anything. It's like I host a show that leaps into a different
- 24:48phantom every time. Yeah. No, but it's correct. It's a staples.
- 24:53A well written character can mean the difference between a good and a bad
- 24:56story. Yeah, honestly, true characters do make the story. Okay,
- 25:02let's move on over to the ultra cold. I've already forgotten. It's not
- 25:10the ardra caldos, the audra caldos. I keep wanting to add an extra
- 25:14like C and an A and a U in there. British people stop doing
- 25:22yea for no reason, color for a good reason. It's the English language.
- 25:29I don't actually care that much. Yeah, just imagine a bunch of
- 25:32Caldos and put Audre's name in front of it and you'll be fine, got
- 25:34it. I'll picture those Caldos Audra Caldos people over there here, so that
- 25:44instead of over there there now here that honestly has a better chance to be
- 25:48Remember, thank you called those chickens in from the field. Yea very cyberpunk
- 25:56of you, Yes, incredibly cyber punk. So Aaron of the ultrac Aldos,
- 26:00what is inspiring you from cyberpunk? Well, as I said, the
- 26:04Augie's team name stole what was going to be my original muse the man because
- 26:11like like me, he does weird things to his groin and then pays people
- 26:15money to resolve it. Um. But um. Instead, I think I'm
- 26:22gonna have to go with Judy Alvarez because she is a lesbian and would have
- 26:26no interest in me, and I relate to that so hard. But she's
- 26:33also big into it and loves making gaming machines, so that also fits very
- 26:37well with my vibe. So okay, yeah, okay, that's the real
- 26:41reason. That's the real reason. I wish I could apply that to like
- 26:44everyone, you know, just that type of like relationship to people. Me
- 26:48and Barack Obama have had been in the state of Hawaii at one point in
- 26:52our lives. Sometimes that's about it, I think, yeah, yeah,
- 26:57I can't say that. Yeah. So another character, another prominent character from
- 27:03the z absolutely beautiful, beautiful. Well, I'll say the same thing again.
- 27:10Always good to be inspired by the characters from the media. We're gonna
- 27:15get you a soundboard, and that's gonna honestly get a soundboard and you can
- 27:18replace me because you could program it to do the same things like that.
- 27:26That's a very cyberpunk thing. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Well by twenty
- 27:30seventy seven, well we hopefully won't still be doing this podcast. But okay,
- 27:37and finally, Audro, what's inspiring you from cyberpunk? As I mentioned
- 27:42in the Passing Knowledge, cyberpunk was made by CD Project Read, which also
- 27:48made The Witcher, which I have played the shit out of. Yeah,
- 27:55and in Cyberpunk um there is a magazine that you can see that has like
- 28:00an advertisement for the Witcher three one and then too. One of serious powers
- 28:06is she like portal hops through worlds and dimensions, and one of them she
- 28:11talks about people with metal in their heads who have groups that are at war
- 28:17at distances and they can fire. Oh shit. So basically Siri went to
- 28:21cyber into the cyber Pop that's so cool and one of her hops. Yeah,
- 28:26and so it was very cool. Yeah when I realized, oh shit,
- 28:30that's what she's talking about. Yeah. I also love that Matt loves
- 28:33that so much because that's just a little bit more of cross promotionalism. Yeah,
- 28:37capitalistic bullshit. It's just it's you know, they're crossing. I mean,
- 28:41it's CT project Project Rights. So is it fully crossover culture or is
- 28:44it self referential? It's not crossover culture, but it's it's definitely cross promotional.
- 28:48It's like, okay, definitely like this game by our other game.
- 28:51Yeah, you like that game by the other game that you already have.
- 28:52Yeah, but it's Easter Eggs, the Easter Eggs, this Sirie crossover Easter
- 28:57Eggs. Yeah. He's got a really cool to me because I didn't get
- 29:00into The Witcher until I experienced the DLC and Monster Hunter World. Oh yeah,
- 29:11wow. We love cross promotionalism. In fact, you know what,
- 29:15I just love your guys' podcast because fuck you, that's why. And I
- 29:21I just you know, if you're a fan of thing, you should check
- 29:23out the other thing to that I just have one thing to say, why,
- 29:30But it's appreciated all the same. Thank you. Well, I just
- 29:34whispered why. Very very good reference, also equally inspiring, because that's what
- 29:44I'm supposed to say, is that old mus is the equal the table.
- 29:48It's it's written right here, even these words, right, Teams, are
- 29:53we ready for some games? Shall we actually get to the main body of
- 29:56this show? Yes? I love it? Well, A man with about
- 30:00ten different accents, but who's sweet at heart just waved a gun in your
- 30:03face? So we best make our way into round one. Round one is
- 30:12called Cyberpunked Cyberpunk twenty seventy seven. Not yet, It's not hard, no,
- 30:22but I gotta draw a line somewhere. Ashton Kutcher. Cyberpunk twenty seventy
- 30:30seven is a game with many quests, with most being named after a song,
- 30:33which is pretty cool. But would our players be able to remember those
- 30:38quests if their description was read out of context? So in this game,
- 30:44in turn, I will read a synopsis for an open world RPG video game
- 30:48quest. Our teams must first decide if they think that that was a quest
- 30:52in Cyberpunk or from a different open world RPG game. And then for a
- 30:56bonus point, if it's not from Cyberpunk, can you name the game that
- 31:00that quest is from? Ohis point? Okay? So we will begin with
- 31:06the Flaming Crutchman. Yeah that thinks we live, don't hear it. You
- 31:12must help a clown with a grenade for a nose, get some food.
- 31:17I don't know this being existing in any other game that I've played. I'm
- 31:22going to rely on you. It's the only place I've experienced it, at
- 31:26least, I mean there might be, but yeah, I'm pretty sure it's
- 31:33very specific. So do you think it's Hyberpunk? I think so, very
- 31:37okay, so I Punk, Yeah, it's it's not ozub that's what it
- 31:44was. I'm like, it's not. Yea name is Bozo backwards, and
- 31:51believe it or not, you have to get into a fist fight with him.
- 31:55Can you punch his nose? No? Nically enough. No, it's
- 32:06what I genuinely don't remember. He might as well blow up, as far
- 32:08as I know, blows up and make a cop. He's the hardest fist
- 32:12fight in the game, though, you're really Oh, it's okay. Moving
- 32:15on over to the Ultra Caldos. Very good, Matt, you're getting the
- 32:20hand so much. I pause to hopefully receive some praise from someone, and
- 32:24thank you so much. Aaron. Have you to a plug. You must
- 32:30become a superhero from a forgotten time known as the Silver Shroud in order to
- 32:35hide your identity as you clear up the city. That is not Cyberpunk,
- 32:39I can tell you right now. The question is, I don't for the
- 32:44bonus point, I don't know what it is, but I can tell you.
- 32:46I can tell you definitively. I think that's one of the Fallout games.
- 32:50I just can't remember which one. But it's not Cyberpunk. He's saying
- 32:53cyberpunk. It's not cyberpunk. That is correct for our point one point?
- 32:59Can I get the bonus points? Question? The hard part is is to
- 33:02for the bonus and guess which Fallout it's from. I think the Silver Shroud
- 33:08was from Fallout four. I'm not certain, but I think it was four
- 33:13Andrews anything ringing any bells for you, um not from any of the games
- 33:17that I have any experience with. So I'm going to stay Fallout four as
- 33:22well. So yes, this is Fallout full That is a bus nice good
- 33:30video game knowledge that Aaron, Thank you, Scrod, make your own chances
- 33:37for bonus points, moving back over for maybe that chance. Who knows.
- 33:39So it's it's it's fifty fifty. You must infiltrate a top secret building and
- 33:45steal a prototype jet pack from a military corporation. That's so vague. How
- 33:51dare you? Is it vague? Yeah? In the grands game of video
- 33:55games? I feel like it is. I don't think it's cyberpunked up.
- 34:00I don't know where this is from. It sounds familiar, is even more
- 34:06Yeah, damn it, it's not. I don't think it's any of the
- 34:09Well, it might be a Borderlands thing. I feel like there's a lot
- 34:13of crossover between Borderlands and Cyberpunk. It might be Borderlands, but the only
- 34:17Borderlands that it would be would be Borderlands, the presequel, Matt. If
- 34:22they don't get it, can I guess it just for fun? Oh?
- 34:23For fun? Absolutely? I think I know. I don't think it's cyberpunk.
- 34:29I don't, okay, Borderlands. I'll remove you from those hucks Atenza
- 34:35and say it's not it's not from cyberpunks. You definitely have a point that
- 34:37I definitely have a point. It might be Destroy All Humans. I have
- 34:42no idea what that is, however, I will I will trust you on
- 34:45that for sure. I just think of anything else it could possibly be from.
- 34:50Okay, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, you're going with Destroy
- 34:52All Humans. That's not what I've got written down here. Although that is
- 34:57like a game that I do remember there being a jetpack in. Yeah,
- 35:00that's one point. So I'm now thinking, oh shit, is the other
- 35:01multiple games for this? So no bonus point, but I'm going to ask
- 35:05Aaron to name that game. Is it Grand Theft Auto San Andreas? It
- 35:08is Grand Theft I gotta play more, GGA. You don't get the point.
- 35:15That was for fun. It was just for fun, just for fun.
- 35:19Damn. I was checking in. I was like, I remember that
- 35:22quest in Grand Auto because wow, literally sneak You're given the coordinates by a
- 35:28guy from the CIA, and you sneak in and steal a jet back and
- 35:30just fly around sant Andreas. So much fun. Holy shit. I would
- 35:36have never guessed. But I mean, something like that would fit into cyberpunk.
- 35:40So thank you. I try. It was a good one. As
- 35:45much as I couldn't fool us. No, I just wanted you to know
- 35:47that too. Yeah, we're gonna bring you up. You're gonna bring it
- 35:50back to me. Yeah, okay, Well we're gonna move back on over
- 35:53to the ultra called us. Okay, and maybe it's time for a bit
- 35:57of revenge here actually, because here is your quest as ryption. You must
- 36:00help a man who has had penis oal commentation surgery that goes wrong by driving
- 36:07him to a clinic. So maybe a bit of revenge. Yeah, yeah,
- 36:13yeah, I think m Yeah, here's karma free stealing my muse.
- 36:17He's uh yeah, no, this is absolutely cyberpunk. This is the yes
- 36:23that involves the Flaming Crotchman himself, Jesse Cox, being mentioned three times this
- 36:30podcast. His name is Jesse Cox. Nice. Yeah, well, actually
- 36:32that's the name of the the actor slash YouTuber who plays him. Uh.
- 36:37The character Char's name also on the nose is Jesse Johnson. It works every
- 36:46which way. Yeah, yeah, is the is the character's name like like
- 36:52an alias is like Dick Pecker or something like that. No, no,
- 36:55um, he just runs up to you. He doesn't give you his name
- 36:59or anything, and you drive him to the ripper dock who can heal him,
- 37:04and he calls you later in his thanks and gives you eddies. Um,
- 37:07but he also reveals that he's planning to have the surgery done again.
- 37:12Yeah, like, okay, this guy never learns no. But I mean
- 37:15you've doubled down, you might as well. Yeah. But if you,
- 37:19I mean, if you fail the mission or if you say no, he
- 37:22just explodes. Oh god. Okay, and if he's standing right next to
- 37:29the clown, then he explodes as well. This city. Okay, back
- 37:36on over to the flaming Crutchmen. Please don't go back for a second surgery.
- 37:40Um, here's your quest. You must stop a man named Peter Pan
- 37:45who is kidnapping men and hooking them up to steroid feeders for cows. That's
- 37:50dark, That's incredibly daring. Is that cyberpunk dark? Like I know,
- 37:54cyberpunk is a world of like drug usage and people dying and gang warfare and
- 38:00hyper capitalism. But damn, that's dark, dude. I'll be honest,
- 38:02I've never run into any like animals per se. It's cyberpunk, right,
- 38:09So I don't think so, I don't think it's cyberpunk. Yeah, star,
- 38:15And it's such a I don't play super mature mature like that type of
- 38:21game, So I don't I can't even think of a video game that it
- 38:22might be. But I'm feeling all right saying it's not cyberpunk because cow seemed
- 38:28weird in that world. Yeah, I don't say cyberpunk, saying no cyberpunk.
- 38:32Yeah, I've got that this one is cyberpunk. Maybe the cows are
- 38:39off screen and that just a threat. There's a whole quest line with one
- 38:45of the companions you can hook up with where you actually chase his cousin down
- 38:50and find out he's being targeted by this serial killer, molester, machine hooker,
- 38:55rummer. I don't know what you talk. Yeah, yeah, it's
- 39:00it's pretty horrifying when you find what he's been doing. It's damn that's dark,
- 39:05dude, Yeah, it's dark. It's it's weird. I was thinking,
- 39:08like psychokonots, that crazy has to be like a more cartoony game.
- 39:15Like there's no right, right, Maybe I don't want to play cyberpunk.
- 39:23I could never handle that's it's dark, but it's a good story. It
- 39:28really really is good. Uh, and the characters are good and that that
- 39:31one's that one's messed up. But yeah, that one's kind of fucked up.
- 39:36Yeah, there's a lot of fucked up things in Cyberpunk, a lot.
- 39:39We'll find out if this next fucked up thing is from Cyberpunk or not.
- 39:44You must help a mass murderer who meets God in a prison cell and
- 39:47demands you literally nail him to a cross so he can become the new Jesus.
- 39:52Oh that is dark under That is cyberpunk. Okay it absolutely? Yeah,
- 39:58absolutely confidence, Yeah it is. See. My role I think in
- 40:01these questions is if it's not cyberpunk, do I recognize it from anything else?
- 40:07Right? Um? And I didn't, and then you do the cyberpunk
- 40:09so let's lock that in. Yeah great that I mean, look, that's
- 40:13what you gotta do. You gotta explain you thought process between the questions that
- 40:15helps create content. And we've just done that. So yeah, incredible,
- 40:19Yeah it is. Cyberpunk is probably one of my favorite quests in the game
- 40:23because it raises so many questions and it's it's not it's not there's not there's
- 40:30hardly any action at all. There is some a lot, but it's just
- 40:35so like and and Johnny Silverhan's interjections in this mission or some of my favorite
- 40:42He's got spot on philosophical points to make that are just like, it's fantastic.
- 40:47I can't say more than yeah, I bet. I bet. It
- 40:50raises a lot of questions because I got one question? Why? What the
- 40:55fuck is my second question? Holy shit, that's not a question. Play
- 41:00the game and find out you maybe, yeah, maybe, Okay, I've
- 41:06got one more question, one more quest for each path back. Go on
- 41:10over to the Flaming Croutchman. Here it is. You must help an engineer
- 41:15write a poem for a woman he likes, and, failing that, acquire
- 41:19him some adult media content that's just funny to me. Oh man, wait,
- 41:28is this Borderlands? I feel like is the engineer Scooter? I feel
- 41:31like that's the one. I think that's Oh my god, I don't think
- 41:35it's cyberpunk. I think it's Borderlands. You're right, Oh my god,
- 41:37I think I'm right. You think you're right. Yeah, it's not it's
- 41:42not whatever this game is. It's Borderlands. It sounds like you're both happy
- 41:45to go with that. Yeah, this is gonna be two points. It's
- 41:46oh my god, it's not cyberpunk, and it is Bodelines. Yeah,
- 41:50oh my god, I'm like this familiar, but like I can't. Oh
- 41:54wow, I was sitting here. Later I was engineer and yeah, I
- 42:00couldn't put it to the end. Then when you said Scooter, I'm like,
- 42:01oh, that's a good one. Good catch, good catch, Jase,
- 42:07And that was actually thank you, thank you. That could have been
- 42:08cyberbunk. Yeah, yeah, very well coold. Yeah, my expertise in
- 42:14another game is paid off. Yeah. Yeah, such as and and go
- 42:19listen to our Boulder Lands episode. I forgot we did. Okay, final
- 42:23quest for the Ultra Cold Us. You're doing so well. I know I
- 42:30was. I keep thinking of the word cauldron and I can't get that out
- 42:34of It's like those the Ultra Cold Us or the Uldra Coldos. Yeah,
- 42:40the and I'm very aware it stopped being funny now, but I promise you,
- 42:49after ten more times of getting it wrong, it will become funny again.
- 42:52Yeah. Okay, here's the quest for that team. You must gather
- 42:58the resources needed to save a man's head of hair. I don't remember this
- 43:05from Cyberpunk. This is when Matt drops that this is actually our paid sponsor.
- 43:09Keeps uh, and we've made a bake. In the podcast world,
- 43:16it's commercialized spots like that on the cyber punk episode Very Spot, Andrew,
- 43:23is this ringing any bells for you? This is ringing zero bells for me.
- 43:30Yeah. I I am pretty positive that it's not cyberpunk because I don't
- 43:35remember any quests about restoring someone's hair. Happy to go with that, ultra
- 43:42you could you could literally just like you know, get a ripperduck to put
- 43:45fake hair in, like you know, it's yeah in that world. So
- 43:51let's go with not cyberpunk. It's not cyber punk. And if I'm gonna
- 43:54go with anything, maybe because it's just on my mind. But there's an
- 44:00quests in the Witcher where he could be like, oh, no, Master
- 44:02Witcher, the hair has all fallen out a Witch. I will sign up
- 44:13with that, I will sign up. It couldn't very possibly a Witcher quest
- 44:20you just have to go and I don't know, burn something and then all
- 44:22their hair comes back. I don't know. I'm just pitching stories for the
- 44:25Witcher. Now, Yeah, going with the Witcher. It would be a
- 44:30very mean thing to do to have the Witcher as an answer within the sid
- 44:34thing, to have that, like Jason pointed out, the cross connection,
- 44:37but it's not I'm sorry, it's from Final Fantasy fourteen. I would have
- 44:40taken That's that's why I didn't know it because I've never played it. I
- 44:45thought the jet Pack one was going to be Final Fantasy interesting, and it
- 44:50was interesting. My answer to that quest would have been Hitman forty seven,
- 44:54okay, because context for that game is that he's bold. Okay, he
- 45:00is the person. The first thing that came out was like Katamari I unrelated.
- 45:07I'm just like, oh Katamari and the game where you roll like a
- 45:09bunch of I and get bigger as a ball. You're making an afro for
- 45:15your king there. Oh the story. I don't think that's actually what this
- 45:21story is. I don't know if anyone knows what the story is. Set
- 45:25it out there, you're like, yeah, that's yeah, that's the story.
- 45:28Now. Yeah, it turns out this quest is actually from Pong.
- 45:32Okay, that's the end of round one. Let's input the data into a
- 45:36mural ware to calculate the scores ignore the burning sensation, and those scores are
- 45:44the Flaming Crutchmen are on four points, okay, but the Aulder called us
- 45:49are in the lead with five points. But I'll gue it's close. Yeah,
- 45:53it is close. We're still catchable. Now it's time to play some
- 45:59ads. Let's cruise around Watson and look up at all of the billboards for
- 46:02the next ninety seconds. Yeah, yeah, Yeah, there's a lot of
- 46:06references you're putting out, and I just have to smile. Yeah. Round
- 46:17two is called wikigeeks. That's wikigeeks. That's really hard to say. Round
- 46:22two is called wiki geeks, and for legal reasons, will not be referred
- 46:27to as scategories. Okay, okay. In this game, I'll be asking
- 46:32our cyberpunk experts or experts comparatively to list as many things as they can from
- 46:38a category. Now, in a normal game of not scategories, players would
- 46:44score points from simply listing items. However, this is wikigeeks. So I
- 46:49would like our captains to guess how many list items their teammates will get in
- 46:53forty five seconds. The closest to their teammates scores a point. A dead
- 46:59on yes of how many the items they will get in the list scores two
- 47:01points. And if the expert can list the gold plated item that I have
- 47:06written down here, that will score three points. Wow. There will be
- 47:10three passes overall, so three lists for each team past. One will be
- 47:16all about people. That's all I can reveal so far is people. So
- 47:21I would like how captains to now guess how many they will get in the
- 47:24list? So to keep this fair because if we say it out loud,
- 47:28oh yes, write it down. Sorry, okay, write down people.
- 47:30I go with five away here there in that's five people in the world of
- 47:37cyberpunk. Five. Now you can't do five. That number is now removed
- 47:42from I said a number that you're like people, and I was like,
- 47:45and it's it's back and forth, so like they can't list to the same
- 47:49people. Is that how that works? It'll be different categories within the okay,
- 47:52so it gets people me. We no, So you're all you're about
- 47:57to do a list of people per team. Okay. When I give Aggie
- 48:00the specific category within people, people's broader, you're going one. Yeah,
- 48:06you write down how many you think Aggie will get. Forty five is a
- 48:08big number, Aggie, But I know you can do it. One.
- 48:14That's insane. I don't think I know you can do no. Jason say
- 48:17forty five. I say forty five like it's the most people too, Like
- 48:22it's yeah, five and a half. So do you both have a number
- 48:29written dance. This is actually an ambitious number. Hold on, so we
- 48:32don't get to know the Okay, I appreciate the confidence, but the realist
- 48:37in me is like you, Bob, I have written down a number.
- 48:44The goal plated answers were three points, so it's still behooves the expert to
- 48:50name as much as possible to try and score that that big point. But
- 48:53we will start with Aggie. You will have forty five seconds to name as
- 48:58many gangs from Cyberpunk twenty seventy seven as possible. I hope there's a lot
- 49:02of gangs, as many gangs. So whenever you're already ogi, I will
- 49:07start the time when you say your first answer, So no, okay,
- 49:14or I could start the time now, yeah, you might want to do
- 49:15that. Okay, I'll start the time now. I'm just gonna start naming
- 49:22things and hopefully they catch el Murtha. Uh freaking um. The cyber cox
- 49:30uh uh um uh the oh that's strue. There was this military one.
- 49:42They were like the streets something. Uh okay, Okay, God, I'm
- 49:46I am choking so bad. Uh. There was another one, wasn't there
- 49:52clause? I got one? I think I got one. Um, uh
- 49:57freaking uh, the chron the Chrome Heads guys, the freaking Chrome Domes.
- 50:04Oh, that's your time. It's not the Chrome Domes. I'm gonna be.
- 50:07I'm gonna give you two points. I'm gonna give you one for Tiger
- 50:08Clause and it's Sixth Street is the other one. But you said the streets
- 50:13something they're a military I'm gonna say I was close enough. No, I'll
- 50:16owe it because I'm probably gonna need a similar amount of leeway. Yeah,
- 50:20yeah, same leeway, will be, will be. Yeah, Mailstrom is
- 50:22the name you were looking for? The Chrome Heads, the Voodoo Boys,
- 50:28they go, oh, I have very The Mox was the gold plated answer.
- 50:34Oh how did I forget about? The Mox are like the best ones
- 50:37there? Yeah, they're the only good gang basically, Jason, could you
- 50:40now reveal how many you thought Oki would get so I have no context?
- 50:45Sure, Yeah, that's part of the game. I just I just put
- 50:47seven, seven, okay, okay, I would be gangs. There are
- 50:54eight gangs overall in the game, so you're looking for Oky to name all
- 50:58of them apart from one. Oh, let's see I got one. An
- 51:04actors like yeah, okay, let's move on over to the Ultra Caldos and
- 51:10I am looking for named main characters, or what the wiki considers to be
- 51:16the core characters in the game who have more than X number of lines.
- 51:21So named main characters are your time starts now, Jack You Wells, v
- 51:30Uh, Judy Alvarez, Misty, Victor Vector, Johnny Silverhand, Rogue,
- 51:39ummmmm um um dexter to Sean um yeah, uh fifteen seconds? Is Aru
- 51:52Nobo Arisaka one of them? Um? I don't know he's a villain,
- 51:57but he might be one of the means I don't know, PanAm Homer um
- 52:01and uh, Jimmy Ward or Billy Ward. Okay, that's your time.
- 52:07You named a lot of characters that most of them were ones the wiki considers
- 52:10to be main characters. You got seven as far as I could, as
- 52:15far as I could tell Aaron you're on the same team, that would be
- 52:19great. So, Ultra, would you like to reveal how many you thought
- 52:22Aaron would name? I said six? Nice, Okay, so that is
- 52:28going to be a point to the alder called us nice and so Victor Vector
- 52:34that's the guy from Despicable Meat. You can't think of another name that starts
- 52:43with Van but kind of sounds like vector Despicable Me came out of like twenty
- 52:47fourteen or some shit like this, who saves your life at the very beginning
- 52:52of the game. Incredible work. It certainly was a main character. Tyler
- 52:58tan Connor co signed something for people. Good. Um, Unfortunately you didn't
- 53:08name the gold plates. Uh you would dancing around it all over the place
- 53:13and named almost all of them. Tea Bug is the is the character that
- 53:16I have hear this gold plate. I wouldn't have called her a main character,
- 53:21but you know, take it up with the people at fandom Wikia,
- 53:24you know, yeah, Delamine, yeah, Delamine. Well he's not really
- 53:30a main character either. He's been in a good chunk of it though.
- 53:32Yeah, but he's not part of the plot really. Yeah, it's true.
- 53:37Yeah, I go just just some chat between funds sorry Superman episode,
- 53:45Me and John do that the whole time, so and I'm just like yeah,
- 53:50yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. I had to. I struggled
- 53:52to get through the Parks and Recreation episode because I have not watched I'm like,
- 53:58I have baseline for what's happening here. Yeah, that was a Max
- 54:01reference show, so many there, but yeah. So my apologies to anyone
- 54:09who doesn't listen to further spuck fans out there. Yeah yeah, is Delamina
- 54:20main character? You decide? Sound out, yeah, sound off in the
- 54:25comments, tweet at those please. Wow. Okay, let's have another pass.
- 54:30This time I will reveal there are way more items per list than just
- 54:36the sort of eight to ten that there were in the first two. Okay,
- 54:39And the theme of this pass will be power. Power is the theme
- 54:45here in all of its forms. So I would like a number written down.
- 54:51Remember it's still just forty five seconds, and remember how the first pass
- 54:54went Expect high, but aim low. Fantastic. Okay, will once again
- 55:07move back on over to Oki. Your topic is technological corporations in Cyberpunk twenty
- 55:14seventy seven, so that's manufacturing, computing or augmentations. Uh. They were
- 55:20about twenty within the game. Good luck, right, your time starts now?
- 55:29All right? Well, these you one Arasaka. Uh, then there's
- 55:34the oh god, and there's the other ones too. They were like the
- 55:38military one version guys that are at like the street eight whatever the number is,
- 55:47Oh god, I'm trying to think of all the guns there is ne
- 55:52Comacora neco something. Um. Then there is oh, jeezers, uh militen
- 56:04seconds militanc is another yeah, um, and then there's um McDonald's, Uh,
- 56:14that's your time, Mokey. Isn't sixth Street the streets that you were
- 56:17saying? Yeah, I still couldn't think of the number corporation help the six
- 56:27Street count. I know that's this gang, not corporation. But you know
- 56:32what, okay is consistent? That was two is good? Well, Jason
- 56:39was on top of that consistency. So I see I was on top of
- 56:43that consistency because I also wrote seven again that said that it would be more,
- 56:50so I thought we would have higher chances. They had seven. That's
- 56:55fact. That's Altech are like the only two corporations that are in your face
- 57:02about anything for most of the game. So I don't surely pay attention to
- 57:06that. Yeah, I could only think of a few more like Netwatch.
- 57:09I think the gun corporation you're reaching out for was next door. That could
- 57:15be wrong, maybe the I mean, I'll read out a bunch of here,
- 57:19eb M, Zunami Defense Systems, Makari heavy Weapons, Eurobusiness Machines,
- 57:23Microtech, Zeta Tech, I, ec CA, Tao Militech, you said,
- 57:30Adrek Robotics, Akagi Systems Inc. Bakus chip Masters. You didn't get
- 57:36Baku Max chip Masters, Right, it's the easiest one. Biotechnica was the
- 57:44gold plate today Biotech. Yeah, that's dang sci fi a Cyberware, Mitsubishi,
- 57:50Sugo, sega Atari. So was McDonald's really that much of Apparently not?
- 57:59I think you're onto the We were actually looking for muckburgher Donalds Daniels.
- 58:05Well, you didn't didn't get too close there, but you know it could
- 58:08be closer. It's like within five maybe Udre's guest like five hundred US.
- 58:12Yeah, you never know. Yeah, with maybe your wife has chosen five
- 58:15h Okay, Aaron hit scared if anything like that. I couldn't do much
- 58:23better than he did on that list. So well, I'm part of me
- 58:28is glad. The game design is more about like how many the captain guesses
- 58:30that you've got, because I've realized that your lists are easier than okies,
- 58:34and I can only apologize okie for them. It's fine. I love having
- 58:38hard questions struggle. It's it's funny at least, very entertaining downfall. Yeah,
- 58:52okay, So the topic for you, Aaron Is cities that appear in
- 58:55Cyberpunk twenty seventy seven. That's a referenced or shown. Oh shit, it's
- 59:04just like night City, the one so we might we might win a game
- 59:10eleven, We might win your time Stoughts now Night City. Yeah, we're
- 59:16done. Thanks coming uh Seattle, Chicago, Baltimore. I'm just gonna start
- 59:22throwing out other costities and hope one of them shows up. Buffalo, Mega
- 59:27City, one um Baseball c u um Neo, Tokyo, uh Uh,
- 59:37Plaine, Tokyo, Vanilla, Tokyo, U Tokyo Classic, Hong Kong.
- 59:45Uh. I don't know, des Moines. That is your time last Vegas
- 59:58you might have you know, as far as I could tell, I think
- 1:00:02I caught all of them. You did name three in total, but do
- 1:00:06appear including Night City. So Ultra, can you reveal what you wrote down?
- 1:00:10You said there would be more? Okay, yeah, I wait.
- 1:00:15With fourteen, I think you could safely say that I underperformed, and I'm
- 1:00:22sorry I overestimate it. That's a point to the Flaming Crutchmen for technically being
- 1:00:30close a good job, but having said that, you were just throwing out
- 1:00:34cities there at the start Arran and just we're like, oh, oh,
- 1:00:37Seattle, I'll just see if it's in there. Not only is Seattle in
- 1:00:38there, it is the gold plated ends out of twenty different cities it could
- 1:00:45have been. Yeah, so three points, yes, thank you. I
- 1:00:52was pretty sure Seattle was in there because I remember I think the Aldacoldo's mentioned
- 1:00:55moving to Seattle at the end of the kid, right, Yeah, yeah,
- 1:01:00there we go. That maybe the only reference to Seattle in the entire
- 1:01:05year, apparently, So I'll take it. Wow. For the third and
- 1:01:08final pass, I'm going to flip the script. We're actually gonna put the
- 1:01:13spotlight onto the captains. Oh. Now, I know you don't know a
- 1:01:17ton about cyberpunk, but it is cyberpunk adjacent, I promise, okay Jesus
- 1:01:22Christ. And that's all I'm going to tell you is that these things are
- 1:01:24cyberpunk adjacent. So, Aaron and Oggie, if you could write down a
- 1:01:29guess or just honestly hold a number in your head that you won't change.
- 1:01:35Oh, I got it, perfect, perfect, of how many you think
- 1:01:39your teammate will get in this list, I've written it down. I've written
- 1:01:43it down perfect, perfect, and as always the store gold plated answer Jason,
- 1:01:49Oh, we'll begin with you. Yes, and your cyberpunk adjacent topic
- 1:01:54very much matches your muse. It is characters from cyberpunk edge runners. Okay,
- 1:02:00okay, oh, okay, memoring things, so your time stots.
- 1:02:07Now. There's David, there's Lucy, there's Rebecca. There's Tank maybe is
- 1:02:13his name? Maybe it's uh, there's oh fucking hell, there's h Adam
- 1:02:20Smasher makes an appearance. I know that Gene carl Esposito's in that as well.
- 1:02:24He's pretty din account he's hey, shut up unless he's as himself.
- 1:02:30Falco. Uh, Falco is a guy. He's played by Matthew Mercer.
- 1:02:37I don't remember god Rebecca's brother. Ten seconds with the mohawk? Uh uh?
- 1:02:45Do you want to throw out guess the name of that character? You
- 1:02:46got five seconds? Uh? No, man Chester smash, I don't smash.
- 1:02:54Guy, our good friend, my good friend of yours. Chester's welcome
- 1:03:00to the pod. Well, I can reveal that you got five correct answers
- 1:03:05there. Okay, let's see what he wrote down wrote four? Oh close,
- 1:03:12man, all right, I can nice nice. It can only be
- 1:03:16beaten by a by a dead on or it can be tied with another one
- 1:03:20away. Did I get a golden ticket answer? Oh you didn't. I'm
- 1:03:23so sorry. I was looking for Kiwi. Oh yeah, that's right.
- 1:03:27The one with the with the mouth, the other one with the mouth.
- 1:03:30She doesn't have a mouth, iconically without a mouth. She doesn't have a
- 1:03:37mouth. You know that, a mask in the mouth. Yeah, alright,
- 1:03:40best of luck, Audra. Okay, here we go, a word
- 1:03:45bless us everyone. Yeah. Your cyberpunk adjacent category is games developed by CD
- 1:03:54Project Red. Oh okay, time stots now Cyberpunk twenty seventy seven. Oh
- 1:04:02yeah, that one. I forgot about that one. The Witcher one.
- 1:04:08Yeah yeah, I think there's just was just like a Monster Slayer game,
- 1:04:15Monster Hunter find out. Um the Fire and Blood DLC the second not the
- 1:04:25name of the l but okay, um blood and wine, thank you?
- 1:04:30Um. And then god, I genuinely I'm just gonna say the Witcher point
- 1:04:36zero point five, So a couple of prequels. I say, there's two
- 1:04:41prequels ten seconds and then Lord Almighty, I have no fucking I don't know
- 1:04:49they did not publish lod Almighty. I have no I feel like I should
- 1:04:55I should have known more. I mean it was pretty I can only two
- 1:05:00more off the top of my head. Gwent and the Witcher Adventure game.
- 1:05:03Oh they made a separate Gwent Yeah yeah, yeah, yeah, it's like
- 1:05:08it's like a free to play I think. But yo, yeah you did
- 1:05:13name five that wow? So same as me. That's that's pretty good.
- 1:05:17Now. Um so let's see what Aaron rod I apologize, Audre. I
- 1:05:21legitimately thought it was going to go as well for you as it did for
- 1:05:24me. So I said three. Did she get the golden ticket answer?
- 1:05:31She didn't. The golden answer was actually the iOS game Rote Race. Wow.
- 1:05:41Sorry, So that will be a point to the Flaming Crotchman then,
- 1:05:45so is that? This is my question? Is the Witcher's horse like is
- 1:05:50Roach the horse a reference to Roach Race? Or is Roach Race a horse
- 1:05:56racing game? Or is it a race between cockroaches it's a very literal game
- 1:06:01or is it a discussion about racing in the roach community? Yes, roach
- 1:06:08community, it's a bugslide talk. Yeah. Well actually that is the direction
- 1:06:14of Pixar movies. Yeah. Yeah, so it's a horse racing game with
- 1:06:17roach. Yes, it was made after the Witcher three. If that's what
- 1:06:20you're asking, yes, Wow, that is what I was asking. That's
- 1:06:25the end of the round. Thanks to our partners at Eurobusiness Machines, we
- 1:06:29have the technology to calculate the scores in a matter of seconds. Any second
- 1:06:33now. We can do that now any second. Now? Why is new
- 1:06:36tech always so slow? Okay, okay, the Flaming Crotchmen are on six
- 1:06:43points, but because of that goal Plate did answer, the Ultra Caldos are
- 1:06:46in the lead with nine points. That is nuts delicious. That's the way
- 1:06:53the cookie crumbles. That's not a reference to cyberpunk. It's just a turn
- 1:06:57of phrase. Cookie also deliciis also have to do with computersok He's gonna be
- 1:07:08filled the cyberpunk as soon as I open up my Amazon, They're gonna know,
- 1:07:11they're gonna want to Yeah, I want to delete that history. Just
- 1:07:17Lucy body Pillow doing in my shopping car. I haven't watched the show,
- 1:07:21Yeah I feel like I should. I like how it's based on that comment.
- 1:07:28You told me? What about that, Lucy say no more? Well
- 1:07:35up next is round three. But first we've got to play another set of
- 1:07:40ads. I know, but for this episode. Think of them as adding
- 1:07:44to the esthetic of the fandom, especially that ad for blue Chow see you
- 1:07:47after this. I don't know if we get blue Choo in our smart algorithm
- 1:07:58thing, but what is bluetoo was? I think it's a viagraal alternative.
- 1:08:00Oh, blue shoe, blue cheer. The wrestling podcasts I listened to always
- 1:08:06have it advertise these when I bundled off my lucy body pillow. What's going
- 1:08:13on now? Yeah? Right, oh yeah, sorry professional wrestling? Yeah,
- 1:08:20oh yes, yes, no, it's as far as I can tell.
- 1:08:23It's because it's a bunch of old legends like chatting and talking. So
- 1:08:26they're all guys in their fifties and sixties who are like, I really need
- 1:08:30this. Brother really helped me out. Okay. Round three is called i
- 1:08:36MDB Trivia, which today stands for Interactive Media Delayed and buggy, although it
- 1:08:43turns out not as not as buggy if you have a PC. Apparently,
- 1:08:48in this game, I'll be asking our teams a series of fun fact style
- 1:08:51trivia questions with multiple choice answers, just classic quizzing easy. Now. The
- 1:08:58last time we played this game, in the third Rock episode, we had
- 1:09:00a visual question board, and we called the game lead Gapers. That was
- 1:09:04sort of a parody of thirty rock parodies. Um, it's back to being
- 1:09:09called IMDb trivia excited think. Okay, I get to make the joke about
- 1:09:12the acronyms and stuff, but I really loved the word boards aspect of players
- 1:09:15of like picking a question based on a singular word. So I've kept that.
- 1:09:18Okay, However, I've got a few messages that said the whole crude
- 1:09:23drawing of someone gaping their asshole was a little two crass and that I'm above
- 1:09:28that, although you know, I can't really I can't really draw anything else.
- 1:09:32It's the problem. So I've I've just done a gaping anus again.
- 1:09:36Ah, is it cyber? Oh? Oh, it's it's exactly who has
- 1:09:43the exact same problems. It's it's such a tragedy, I understand. So
- 1:09:49it's as simple as there'll be three questions per team. Your captains will choose
- 1:09:54the word for you. Oh, you can choose the word if you can
- 1:09:56read it, or they read it out for you, and it will correspond
- 1:09:59to a multiple choice question. So would you like the words on the left
- 1:10:02cheek, the right cheek, the left hand the right hand, the left
- 1:10:04thigh, or the right thigh. And those words are free, cameo,
- 1:10:13valve, reality, extinct, and vehicle. And we will begin with the
- 1:10:20flaming croutch man. Okay, okay, those are all words that I have
- 1:10:26when I look at a gaping asshole. Yeah. Are you feeling strong about
- 1:10:30any of these words? Lead? They're on any words in the center.
- 1:10:32Man, I'm just I'm staring at that gaping answer. I can't get my
- 1:10:35hand. I can't see that. It's too powerful. It's too powerful.
- 1:10:40I will say, I feel strongly about Cameo. Came only to take it
- 1:10:45at least away from Aaron. I'll trust, I'll trust you, I'll trust
- 1:10:47that words on me. I just can't. I can't take my eyes away.
- 1:10:51Okay, okay, so you've gone with Cameo. Yeah. Your question
- 1:10:56related to Cameo is which video game legend has a cameo in Cyberpunk twenty seventy
- 1:11:02seven? Is it Shigeru Miyamoto, whoa Nolan North more Hideo Kajima means one
- 1:11:11of them? Does? Yeah? Do you know this off the top of
- 1:11:15your head? I will say Shagero Miamoto is probably a hard pass considering that
- 1:11:18he's such a Nintendo guy. He's so busy, um, but he really
- 1:11:24only makes appearances for Nintendo rex. He's not very into the social media's or
- 1:11:28anything like that. Like he's very Nintendo, um, whereas Hideo Kajima and
- 1:11:33Nolan North very social media heavy. Yeah yeah, so hmm yeah, that's
- 1:11:40that's where I'm at too, those two there, Okay. Nolan North is
- 1:11:44easy because he's he's a voice actor, Like, that's that's easy. Hideo
- 1:11:47Kajima, though, is not above putting himself in his own video game,
- 1:11:50which we've seen with with Metal Gear Solid. Yeah. Yeah, exactly.
- 1:11:55So I think, yeah, I'm thinking I'm leaning towards Hideo Kajima. Yeah,
- 1:11:59me too, because he seems like the type of person who would be
- 1:12:01a fan of this franchise as well. Not Yeah, yeah, I don't
- 1:12:04think. Let's go roll into the and they're like, hey, I want
- 1:12:08to roll random roll in your video game? Yeah yeah, and they totally
- 1:12:12fucking let him because he has that cloud. Yeah yeah, yeah, we
- 1:12:15can make that happen. Yeah, let's go with Kajima. So you're going
- 1:12:19with Kajima. It is Kajima. Yes. The only thing that was said
- 1:12:25on the trivia section, was Kajima appears in the heist mission. I assume
- 1:12:29there might be multiple hight missions the heist mission, guy, you know the
- 1:12:32one where they do a crime. Yeah, but you know that thing.
- 1:12:34It's referring specifically to the to the opening plot important one. Oh, heist
- 1:12:41theist Okay, yeah, no, I know exactly where you find him.
- 1:12:45Okay, Oh yeah, look out for Kajima Heist mission hist mission. Look
- 1:12:50by the bar. There's your hint. Oh. Okay, we'll tease that
- 1:12:55from Oki from when I play this game apparently. Yeah, yes, you're
- 1:12:58back. You're back onto playing the game now, Yeah, there is Okay,
- 1:13:04Aaron mentioned just a second ago, being able to notice nothing else but
- 1:13:09the hole in the center of the board. I forgot to mention a format
- 1:13:12point. Once all six questions that answered, our teams will go head to
- 1:13:15head inside the black Hole of Knowledge. True, yes, that's something final
- 1:13:20question. But for now, Audra and Aaron, I need a word corresponding
- 1:13:28to a question. Pla Audra, any preference none for me? Um extinct
- 1:13:32is sticking out to me only in the sense of, then the hands are
- 1:13:39both symmetrically cleared. Okay, and maybe if we erase the hands. You
- 1:13:45know what, Yeah, I appreciate your aesthetic determined decision. Um, let's
- 1:13:53but that's all I've got, man, I'll roll with it. It's fine.
- 1:13:55I have preference for any of those others. Okay, going for the
- 1:13:59question on the left hand or the right hand, depending on how you're looking
- 1:14:01at the board. Yeah, well yeah, yeah, do the motion off
- 1:14:09camera, I reckon oldra Yeah, like this, this and then yeah,
- 1:14:15it all practice. It honestly looked more like I was Naruto running. I
- 1:14:21just put my hands back. Listen. If we know anything about Naruto runners
- 1:14:26is that they have gaping ass laughing. Do you know if if if my
- 1:14:33parents ever here this one, I'll say that that's it's a picture of someone
- 1:14:36doing a Naruta run, and then they'll be like, what the hell's that?
- 1:14:41Okay, so extinct, it's Your's the question that corresponds to this question,
- 1:14:45which animal is canonically extinct in the world of Cyberpunk twenty seventy seven.
- 1:14:51Is it a pandas B eagles or c sharks? Hmm? All plausible in
- 1:14:58our world? Yeah, now, these all really plausible. It's not cows.
- 1:15:02Uh, I am not sure. I mean just the reality given that
- 1:15:11there are only two thousand left in our current day world means I'm leaning towards
- 1:15:15pandas. But for some reason, sharks is jumping out at me and I
- 1:15:20don't know why. Oh scary, I mean, well, not actual sharks.
- 1:15:28The word sharks is jumping out from a gaping anis and I don't know
- 1:15:31why. I was also thinking sharks because if the oceans are gone, I
- 1:15:42don't know, it's the future. John. I don't think they are gone,
- 1:15:45but I think maybe it's hard for living organisms to live in them.
- 1:15:49I know, um that a lot of animals in the game world are genetically
- 1:15:57created and grown, but not exactly you know, born as it were.
- 1:16:01Um, So I am genuinely not sure, but I I want to go
- 1:16:10with sharks. But it's it's your call. Let's go with sharks. I
- 1:16:14think your instincts are going to be better than mine. You're going with Shocks.
- 1:16:17It is Shocks who The other two may also be extinct in the world,
- 1:16:21but according to the canon, the main one that is extinct Shocks interesting
- 1:16:27fascinating. It just never comes up in the game if they are or not.
- 1:16:30But yeah, to remember somebody mentioning that sharks are extinct at some point.
- 1:16:36I just can't remember who were aware, doesn't matter, not the game,
- 1:16:42I got it right, Yeah, somehow, flaming crotchman. As I
- 1:16:45point the anus in your direction as you do, what would you like so
- 1:16:53as reference Algie? Uh, there's free reality, Valve and vehicle. Ah,
- 1:17:00okay, what do you thinking? I wonder if Valve means the game
- 1:17:03studio Valve and not right, I'm plumbing wondering that myself, and I'm kind
- 1:17:09of interested in checking it out. Yeah, we're interested check out plumbing mini
- 1:17:14games. It's like BioShock where you have to come Mario jumps out of a
- 1:17:21toilet with a gun Marrio. Okay, wow, your question related to Valve
- 1:17:32is which character from Valves Expanded Universe do we hear the voice of in one
- 1:17:40of Cyberpunk twenty seventy seven's missions. Act humor me Algie, and I'll read
- 1:17:48out the multiple choice answers, but I know you know it. You hear
- 1:17:51GLaDOS. There we go, Yeah it is GLaDOS, fuck you mad Clatos.
- 1:17:58Yeah, the choices. Yeah, the point. I don't mean to
- 1:18:03be that guy, but like I know it. Yeah, no, you
- 1:18:06got it. So you've been out of the other character scored in freemanch Yeah,
- 1:18:10that was the other one on that, the only one all night that
- 1:18:12I was absolutely sure. W yeah, finally yes, yeah, I never
- 1:18:20have them credit again. Do you a fleet? Done? All right,
- 1:18:27then we'll just move straight back on. I'll tell you the left side is
- 1:18:30working for us, works for us? Yeah, well I love it.
- 1:18:35We can keep it copasetic and go at the bottom right. Oh. I
- 1:18:41was immediately going to say the left side is working for them. We should
- 1:18:43get the last left that you want to take it from them. We can
- 1:18:45do that. They tried to take cameo from me, but I would have
- 1:18:48got that question wrong. So I don't know if the left side is going
- 1:18:54to work for us, but if we stop it from working for them,
- 1:18:56maybe it would take free. Why not, let's do it. It'll be
- 1:19:00very funny if it bites us. Yay, you are taking free. I
- 1:19:03am down to lose points in favor of content. That's a yeah, that
- 1:19:06is the correct attitude to app on the podcast. Yeah yeah, yeah,
- 1:19:11just heads up. Points don't matter. Yeah. Oh yeah, that's right.
- 1:19:15You're right, Yeah matter doesn't it? Yeah? Okay, here's your
- 1:19:26question as a publicity stunt. Who did CD Project Red send a free collectors
- 1:19:31edition of Cyberpunk twenty seventy seven. Two? Was it A A guy who
- 1:19:36admitted to purchasing one hundred collectors editions of the Witcher three Wild Hunt? B,
- 1:19:42A guy who shouted your breathtaking at Keyanu Reeves during Microsoft's twenty nineteen e
- 1:19:47three presentation, or C Keanu Reeves. Oh that's dirty. I am going
- 1:19:58to nix the stanser right away. I don't think it was someone who purchased
- 1:20:02a hundred copies of the Witcher collection edition, because, um, how is
- 1:20:08that a publicity stunt? He's gonna make that news now. But I do
- 1:20:15think someone saying your breath taking, yeah, And I was immediately going to
- 1:20:20go with it until they said Keanu Reeves as well? Having said that,
- 1:20:25like, I don't think that's a publicity stunt to give a copy of the
- 1:20:29game that someone worked on to them. It feels more like a publicity stunt
- 1:20:33to give it to the guy who shouted your breathtaking. So I think you're
- 1:20:38right, and I think we should go with B. Let's go for it.
- 1:20:41You're going with B. It is B? Yeah, exactly Here they
- 1:20:44gave it to you. I don't know if anyone else remembers that. I
- 1:20:46do thousand one of the best moments I think for that whole yeah thing.
- 1:20:51I think that's why the game kind of stuck it out was because that of
- 1:20:57Keanu Reeves, Like, yeah, yeah, is that held the glue together
- 1:21:00while it was melting? Yea, and correct me if I'm wrong too,
- 1:21:05Like, wasn't that E three? Like Cyberpunk was not Xbox exclusive, but
- 1:21:10it was during the Microsoft panel, and like everyone was like, who fucking
- 1:21:14cares? And then Cyberpunk happened. They're like, oh, wait, Keanu
- 1:21:17Reeves walked out and then everybody cared. Yeah, exactly, who gives a
- 1:21:24shit about anything Microsoft is doing? Right now? Wait? I care so
- 1:21:29much? Flaming crotchan. Oh they took the left cheek from tell the other
- 1:21:35cheek. Yeah, well we've got reality on the cheek and vehicle on the
- 1:21:41thigh. Sound more philosophical than I think reality vehicle. I don't know why
- 1:21:55that's. I don't know much about vehicles period. I'm not gonna lie to
- 1:21:58you anything about your Yeah. Yeah, so yeah, let's get let's get
- 1:22:03reality away from Yeah, reality got to get the reality away from the keeping
- 1:22:10asshole. Yeah yeah, yeah, it's getting too real, getting too real
- 1:22:14as I rub that away. Yeah okay in a sexy way, but not
- 1:22:19in a sexy way, just a very utilitarian way. Um, here's your
- 1:22:24question on reality. What did CD project Reds do to ensure Night City looked
- 1:22:30realistic? Did they pay to access Google's macro data of Google street View so
- 1:22:36they could map small areas of multiple real cities into the game, be higher
- 1:22:42city planners to design the layout of the city, or see higher architect Adrian
- 1:22:47Smith, who designed the Birge Khalifa, to design the most prominent buildings within
- 1:22:53the city. Damn, I zero context, dude, I don't don't even
- 1:23:00know this. Um yeah, yeah, if any of these are true,
- 1:23:04that like which one of them are awesome? Um? But I almost feel
- 1:23:11like the second I feel like I've heard it somewhere, But I don't know
- 1:23:14if I heard it from this project or if I heard it from like Beyond
- 1:23:17Good and Evil, Like their project were hiring contractors to literally blueprint the city
- 1:23:23for them to make a funk yeah ish city. Yeah, so I had
- 1:23:27a little bit of aversion to it, but I don't know. I'm leaning
- 1:23:30towards that. I don't think they hired anyone specific. I think they hired
- 1:23:32no bunch of contracts. Okay, so we're in agreeance. Yeah. I
- 1:23:35I immediately if I had to nix one of them, it would be the
- 1:23:38birds Khalipha one. Um. I could see the first one only because I
- 1:23:42know that is a technique that you can do um in like filmmaking for CGI
- 1:23:47purposes, like to just put in a city scape like a skyline of La
- 1:23:51real quick or yeah, or a bird's eye view situation like you can three
- 1:23:56D scan Google image or have like a drone do like a fly by and
- 1:24:00three D scam that and superimpose shapes really fast. It's not funny, it's
- 1:24:03just a bit of industry knowledge for you. Yeah yeah, yeah, just
- 1:24:10I used to want to make movies. Um, but uh so, but
- 1:24:14I will go if your gut two with B, because I mean we all
- 1:24:17fucking play Tycoon City right, like, oh my god, yeah that's the
- 1:24:20thing. I still have like a grid sheet paper nearby and gives ever decided
- 1:24:26to pick it up again? Fuck yeah yeah yeah hell yeah. So based
- 1:24:29on that gut feeling, let's go B y B yeah city plan is it
- 1:24:32is they hired a team of city plan is to design nice dude, where
- 1:24:40on this on this butt related game? We're just working around this asshole?
- 1:24:45Dude, all the cracks of crevices up? Oh my god, yoh?
- 1:24:55Why am I getting hungrier? As a pragmaticist, he thinks about the exit
- 1:25:04before the He's like, no spicy food today? Is the name of the
- 1:25:13Fetters? Okay, the Ultra Caldos. You are left with one final word,
- 1:25:20which is vehicle vehicle? So here is that question. There is a
- 1:25:26decal on the rear right panel of V's car. What is it a decal
- 1:25:30of? Is it a roach the horse from the Witcher series? Is it
- 1:25:34me the Wolf medallion from the Witcher series? Or is it C the letters
- 1:25:40C, I R I well series from the Witcher series. Oh oh,
- 1:25:46I'm trying to like spell that out in my hand. I'm like, what
- 1:25:48is that spell? Any ideas on this? Dra? I genuinely don't remember
- 1:25:59I what's I don't know for a car either? However, the answer that
- 1:26:03jumped out to me was the Wolf medallion, And I don't know why I
- 1:26:09think I like that one. I did want to nix the serie one because
- 1:26:13I looked up the wording, like to see what what was the general wording
- 1:26:17of her quote when she left? So I looked up Cyberpunk twenty seventy seven
- 1:26:23Sirie and I didn't see anything in the back of the car that I know.
- 1:26:27Okay, okay, I do miss things wrote. But I would probably
- 1:26:30go with the wolf medallion since from a perspective of it's you know, the
- 1:26:36transportation transportation. Um is Matt clever enough to have put that together? A
- 1:26:44very good question? Yes, okay, thank you. I'd also like to
- 1:26:50ride Syria. So sorry, I'm so stop you in the guts it will
- 1:27:01listen worth it? Um, So do we want it? Initial instinct was
- 1:27:06the wolf medallion. Yes, but my gut's been wrong before. Um not
- 1:27:11in not in this episode. But my my gut has been wrong before.
- 1:27:15Um. Pragmaticis but I'm willing to die in this hill. So uh yeah,
- 1:27:20I would probably go with wolf medallion. But I don't know why saying
- 1:27:26let's go for a wolf medallion. It is not and I am clever enough.
- 1:27:30It is, it is something. It just it made sense. I
- 1:27:38don't know where my head was getting the wolf medallion from. As the problem
- 1:27:42it could have been. It's a good little symbol with like jagged edges,
- 1:27:45which is where it feels cyberpunk esque, cyberpunk esque, cyberpunk, cyberpunky.
- 1:27:53That's that's like Punky Brewster like punk. It's not. It doesn't feel quite
- 1:27:58as intent like hardcore pretending. I know the American reference, though, it's
- 1:28:02fine. I wish that was one of your team names. Cyberpunky Brewster.
- 1:28:09Just ninety minutes too late. Okay, before we finished this round. You
- 1:28:15must now go head to head. Tessa TETs Oh inside the black hole of
- 1:28:19knowledge. This is how I can't be on real TV because I'd laugh at
- 1:28:25every time something like that happened. Cyberpunk twenty seventy seven is one of the
- 1:28:29most expensive video games ever made. But what was its budget? Oh,
- 1:28:33I used to know this. Yeah, it was something crazy. It was
- 1:28:36something crazy and flaming crotch men. You can you can throw out an answer
- 1:28:41first, um, give me a give me a ballpark number here algia,
- 1:28:45because it's been a while since I've listened or heard the budgets of video games.
- 1:28:50I know, like one of the most expensive movies ever produced was like
- 1:28:55four ninety eight million dollars, but like, how expensive is a video game
- 1:28:58generally speaking? Well, I don't know what the general cost of a video
- 1:29:02game is, um, but I think this one was up in the millions,
- 1:29:08like right, for sure. I think it was. I just don't
- 1:29:10know if it was a single digit million or a double digit million. It's
- 1:29:13got to be a double digit million because when you think about like sales,
- 1:29:16right, it's sixty to seventy bucks a pop. And then when we talk
- 1:29:20about triple A games, they're definitely hitting the millions within the first month generally
- 1:29:26speaking of like sales, Yeah, um is like a big in So it's
- 1:29:30definitely double millions because if you're making sixty mil, you know, that's a
- 1:29:35that's a turn up everybody within the larger lifespan of the video game. Yeah,
- 1:29:41I agree, So what are you thinking? I'm thinking closer. My
- 1:29:45number is like two point five two point five million, Yeah, but something
- 1:29:51to me states is bigger than that, like almost I think it really is.
- 1:29:56I think like ten mil, least ten mil at least. Yeah,
- 1:29:59to make it like that's a that's a fat video game, right right,
- 1:30:01because I feel because I feel like they put a lot of money in the
- 1:30:04advertisement a lot of money, right, rehashing the crap out of it after
- 1:30:09launch? Yeah in Keanu Reeves, Yeah, like they got Yeah, So
- 1:30:15all right, I'm gonna gonna need to announce that. I think ten mil,
- 1:30:17ten mil, say ten mil? Yeah, all right, so we
- 1:30:20had double digits. Let's throw it eva to the other team. Let's get
- 1:30:23announce from you guys, Adre. It is way more than that, but
- 1:30:27we can just do prices right rules and go ten million. And I was
- 1:30:31thinking it was way higher because yeah, our last episode that we did a
- 1:30:36similar thing, Sailor minimum one hundred million minimum. I was gonna go for
- 1:30:41one hundred millions. We said, like two hundred thousand. That's what Sailor
- 1:30:44moves worth. It's worth over a billion, so fourteen billions. Yeah,
- 1:30:49so I'm down for a hundred mil. Yeah. Well, no, let's
- 1:30:54let's make sure of it and just say ten million and one knock out of
- 1:31:02Oh are you're gonna be goaded into this by the other team. That's no,
- 1:31:05We're going with ten million and one ten million. Listen, listen here,
- 1:31:10because if it's if it's fucking like fifty, if it's forty nine point
- 1:31:13nine million, dollars. You're gonna eat shit and die. But I'm still
- 1:31:17gonna win the point. So this is stupid and the point matter. Damn
- 1:31:23it. Go one hundred million, he said, minimum, one hundred million.
- 1:31:26That's how sure he is. Minimum. We'll go fifteen million. I
- 1:31:32had ten million and I had fifteen million, all right, um, and
- 1:31:36it is yeah, prices, right rules. Let me just do the calculations
- 1:31:40on this one. Yeah, it's three hundred and twelve million dollars, knew
- 1:31:44it. That's fine, that's fine. We could have gone with one hundred
- 1:31:48millions of y'all, especially one built over five years insane levels. Holy still
- 1:32:00got to count Keanu's cash money, and they're like overtime pay and then pushing
- 1:32:08it back overtime pay over April to December delays and then reworks. Yeah,
- 1:32:14we're doing lines, oh my god. Yeah. Yeah. First, I'll
- 1:32:18be honest, the highest I was going to go is like sixty mil.
- 1:32:21So you guys would have won that regardless. There we go a good bit
- 1:32:25of sportsmanship that. Yeah, yeah, I don't It's been a while since
- 1:32:28I've looked at the fucking prices of games and how much they cost. Right,
- 1:32:31Yeah, So three three hundred and twelve million, about ten percent of
- 1:32:34the budget of a Marvel movie. Yeah, that's a two hundred MILLI it's
- 1:32:41the average nowadays. Okay, that's the end of round three. I've just
- 1:32:45had a live software update for my neural west, so the skull calculation should
- 1:32:48be a little less painful this time. Ow ow ow I think I think
- 1:32:53the microphones were interfering with the neural well, I think turn them off,
- 1:32:56now, turn them off, turn them off please? No? Okay,
- 1:33:00never burned. That's very cyberpunk. Cyberun gonna nail me to a cross and
- 1:33:09blow my penis up and might put put grenade on my nose. These the
- 1:33:12only things not necessarily in that order. Okay, those scores are the Flaming
- 1:33:21Crutchmen are on nine points, but the Ultra Coldos are in the lead still
- 1:33:26with twelve points down the increasing lead. I thought we fucking killed that round.
- 1:33:31We literally got three points. Oh we tie. Damn it almost like
- 1:33:35it wasn't even worth playing that now we had yeah, completely raise the time.
- 1:33:41Thank you for coming. Oh yes, so we still we still have
- 1:33:48our crucial quick fire rounds, so it could all change there before our final
- 1:33:53rounds. Let's talk prizes this episode, star Prize is the concept of play.
- 1:34:00Cyberpunk twenty seventy seven is, of course a video game which you play,
- 1:34:02but also this episode features two panel show style podcasts, and we're all
- 1:34:08constantly at play, which is something all adults wish they could do more often,
- 1:34:12especially the ones who say they don't. Yes, absolutely Jesus. But
- 1:34:17our winning team will also receive a Collector's edition of Cyberpunk twenty seventy seven.
- 1:34:24But you must also call me breathtaking. Oh that's easy, Matt. You're
- 1:34:29breathtaking. Thank you, You're breathtaking, Thank you, thank you. Please
- 1:34:31take that out of my Patreon chair that I wish to stop breathing when I
- 1:34:35look at you. Stop Collector's editions for everyone. Up next is our crucial
- 1:34:48quick fire around. But first, let me play this brain dance for you.
- 1:34:53It's the experience of someone listening to ninety seconds of commercials. You're welcome.
- 1:35:03Did I get that right? Is that what a brain dances? What
- 1:35:05you experience something from somebody? Yes, yes, yes, oh yes.
- 1:35:09It's one of my favorite functions in the game too. Is you use brain
- 1:35:12dances to experience people's memories? Yeah, you do it to investigate crimes,
- 1:35:18and it's it's really interesting the way they did it because they separate into three
- 1:35:24layers what the person sees, what they hear, and all their other senses
- 1:35:28like smell if the switch between layers, and each layer has a different visual
- 1:35:33effect applied to it, So the hearing layer has this really cool kind of
- 1:35:38blue texture to everything, right, and like any sounds just kind of you
- 1:35:43know in the in the Yeah, it's super cool. It's dude, that's
- 1:35:47sick. Those are my favorite segments of the game is when you investigate through
- 1:35:50a brain dance. That's so cool. Yeah. Meanwhile, everybody else uses
- 1:35:54it for porn story in the world brain dances, they're pretty much kind of
- 1:36:03media. Yeah, pretty much that dude. Yeah, that's pretty well.
- 1:36:09I could use my flesh light as like a magnifying class. What are you
- 1:36:16trying to see? Not just saying it's all part? Was only a multi
- 1:36:23functional like that. I don't know where it is at all times, I
- 1:36:33know where it is. Yeah, I'm sure we'll do a gate leapers on
- 1:36:39teletonis at some point you have to get Steve on for that one. We
- 1:36:45don't see an expert in tell tell us what's going on. I don't know,
- 1:36:51but he seems to be Well wait until we'll wait until the episode's defense.
- 1:37:00What do you put this part in the episode so as embarrassed as possible.
- 1:37:04Well, that sounds like permission and consent to me. He doesn't get
- 1:37:09embarrassed. So yeah, yeah, that man doesn't get embarrassed. Okay,
- 1:37:13should we do this? Let's do this? Yeah? Yeah. A final
- 1:37:16quick fire rounds will test your broader pop culture knowledge, and this time the
- 1:37:20round is called I kear knew it, And yes, it's all about Keanu
- 1:37:26reevesa god. All that pawn physically hurt me. Keanu Reeves is a pop
- 1:37:39culture icon who has transcended star power and is firmly a part of the monoculture.
- 1:37:44He's known as Hollywood's ultimate introverts. So now we're going to be horrible
- 1:37:47and shine a spotlight on him. In this game, I will give our
- 1:37:50players clues to a piece of Keanu Reeves related media, something that he's starred
- 1:37:55in, in the style of Keianu himself describing the project on a late night
- 1:38:00talk show. Players must then buzz in by yelling out their team names.
- 1:38:03Let's practice that now, as aldricaldos alcaldos is quite long compared to just crutch.
- 1:38:13You messed up. Okay, fine, we'll shorten it to ardor then
- 1:38:17ye, I'll say my own name, and I will still forget how to
- 1:38:20buzz in, and then once you buzz in, it's not just as simple
- 1:38:26as saying the media property. There's a little classic gate leaper's twist to the
- 1:38:30answer. Oh Keyanu Reeves appears as himself in the twenty nineteen film Always Be
- 1:38:36My Maybe, in which the protagonist sings, you best believe I punched Keanu
- 1:38:41Reeves. So before you give your answer, I'd like you to say you
- 1:38:45best believe it's and then give me the answer. So you buzz in with
- 1:38:50your team name, then you say you best believe it's and then the answer.
- 1:38:55If you don't say that part, I can't give you the point.
- 1:38:57So, for example, if I said, let me just welcome my Kiani
- 1:39:00voice, hang on, Hi, Hi Hello, I'm affable. Hi.
- 1:39:08Well, in this project, I take vengeance on those who killed my dog.
- 1:39:14Yes, Aaron, you best believe it is Sean Wick exactly. That
- 1:39:16that would be worth a point where that real question, But it was just
- 1:39:19the example. Yeah, So is it the movie towers character names as well
- 1:39:24the movie title. That was just a rare occasion where it was both.
- 1:39:30Yes, yeah, good point, good point. Okay, So if we're
- 1:39:33already, I'll start the timer. Here we go. So this project is
- 1:39:39very special to me because I get to float in the air and shoot guns,
- 1:39:43which I love. Crotch, Yes, Jason, you best believe it's
- 1:39:47the Matrix. It is the Matrix. I thought that's where it was,
- 1:39:53but I couldn't think of anything else where. He floating near and shot guns.
- 1:39:58Oh man, these films are so much fun to make, you know,
- 1:40:00to time travel is just so comulcial. Yes, Aaron shite. Yeah,
- 1:40:11I jumped to the gun on that one. Uh, he doesn't do
- 1:40:15time traveling in it, so it's not right, Crotch, Gonna throw it
- 1:40:18over to the other team. You best believe it's Johnny Neumonic. No,
- 1:40:24that's what I was gonna say. But he doesn't time travel? Is that
- 1:40:27not time travel? Fucking Oh? Back over? Sorry, you best believe
- 1:40:32it's Bill and Ted? Yeah, take stupid. How did we get Maybe
- 1:40:41it'll come up in a second. Oh Jesus Christ, Oh that's what I
- 1:40:45thought. Johnny Newmonic was about. I never watched them. Oh I feel
- 1:40:47dumb as hell. Okay, next one, I feel so smart. The
- 1:40:54tension in this film, man, it's it's NonStop action at less than fifty
- 1:40:58miles per hour. Crot I think that's gonna be Aaron. Yeah, uh,
- 1:41:02you best believe it's speed. Yes it is. And just got nice.
- 1:41:11So in this film, I play a demonologist, which isn't someone Christine's
- 1:41:16skin. That's Aaron again, that's gonna be Aaron again. Yeah, you
- 1:41:18best believe it's Constantine. It is Constantine. Good job. Yeah, I
- 1:41:25was like a tiny just who oh yeah, this this project, man,
- 1:41:31it was a blessing to work with the late great Patrick Swayzy. And yes,
- 1:41:38Aaron, you best believe it's point break. Yes it is point break
- 1:41:44any of these movies and that's fine. That's a live process. Okay.
- 1:41:53Yes, so this film is based on Shakespeare or something. But all I
- 1:41:56know is that I got to drive across America with the late great River Phoenix.
- 1:42:00Why do all of my co stars die? I know the movie,
- 1:42:04I just don't know the title. Audrey, I don't know. Yeah,
- 1:42:10so Oldry, I don't know. I was gonna buzz in and then just
- 1:42:13say a movie. But the only one that's coming to mind is you best
- 1:42:16believe No Country for old men. I'd love to see the I just I
- 1:42:25was like, I'll try something, and then I was just like, I
- 1:42:28can't think of any I'll love the other team take a stab first, but
- 1:42:30I also want to take a stab out here. Crotch. You best believe
- 1:42:34it's pretty women. No, that's not it. No, it didn't start
- 1:42:40keyatle Reefs. But again, but again, I mean Keanu walking into that
- 1:42:45dress shop to tell them all off fast. God back, I'm gonna take
- 1:42:49a long shot here, Audra Caldo's you best believe it's Finding November. It's
- 1:42:57not Finding November. It's not a Keyanu Reefs film. I I can't remember
- 1:43:00if that's the right title of a but there is a canna reason that's not
- 1:43:04a crazy action er. Yes, and I think this is one of things
- 1:43:08like it's like along those lines, but I don't remember this particular film.
- 1:43:13I was looking for my own private Idaho. Oh p yeah, no,
- 1:43:18I know that title, but I had no idea what the movie spere.
- 1:43:21That river Phoenix was limit for that matter. Yeah, apparently it's based on
- 1:43:26like Henry the second and third and fourth and fifth or something all crammed into
- 1:43:29I don't know because about a road trip. Um, yeah, I don't
- 1:43:32know enough about Shakespeare. I just sound like I do. You know.
- 1:43:40I got a lot of backlash for this film at first, as I was
- 1:43:43seen as if something as a white savior. But I'm actually what a Chinese?
- 1:43:45So, yes, Jesson, I'm really glad that you got to finish
- 1:43:49that s it's uh, you best believe it's forty seven. Yeah, I
- 1:43:57didn't know that. I actually watched that recently, and yeah, came off.
- 1:44:00He does come off his white savior. He's right in this hypothetical.
- 1:44:06Yeah. Oh, it was so magical to lend my voice to this world.
- 1:44:10I love the little plastic guys, the space man who thinks he's real
- 1:44:14man, I can yes, Oh, you best believe it's toy story four.
- 1:44:19Yes, it is toy story for like a stuntman. Yeah, he's
- 1:44:21like a su Yeah, I remember that being part of the market, like
- 1:44:26the little basic guys to talk because this conversation just sounds great. He's just
- 1:44:34so like, he's like very charming obviously because we love him. He's just
- 1:44:39so charming and affable, but he also like says like casually the weirdest hit
- 1:44:43on. Yeah, his role in Always Be My Maybe is so good.
- 1:44:47It is because he's playing himself and if he didn't write his own lines like
- 1:44:50that, someone studied Keanu Reeves to the mat. Yes, yeah, that's
- 1:44:56just like I did for these for half an hour. Wow. So this
- 1:45:01was kind of an early one. I think it was a Christmas movie,
- 1:45:04maybe a musical. I played Jack Nimble or some shit. Uh, Drew
- 1:45:11Barrymore's in it. I have no idea. Yes, Old, you best
- 1:45:15believe it's Babes in Toyland. It is Babes that Nightmare Fuel. I haven't
- 1:45:25thought about that movie in decades. Unlocked Memory for you God a musical.
- 1:45:31Hold on wow kind they sing a song about Cincinnati, my own private Cincinnati.
- 1:45:43Well this is actually a bit of a silly one. But when the
- 1:45:45opportunity arose to hang out with the Star and the Sponge, I knew it
- 1:45:49would be the best day ever. Yes, Jason, you best believe it's
- 1:45:54SpongeBob SquarePants. Yes, it's He's in the SpongeBob SquarePants movie Sponge on the
- 1:45:58Run. Yeah, yeah, watch that one in it and I it was.
- 1:46:03I found out that he was in it because a podcast that I listened
- 1:46:08to talked about how he's turned down multiple Marvel roles but said yes to that
- 1:46:15smart man. Smart man. Yeah he wants Yeah, I respect it.
- 1:46:19Uh. Yes, So this one being mentioned is even a surprise to me.
- 1:46:24Uh, that is me in the picture. I guess I will admit
- 1:46:27here and now I am immortal. Uh, don't ask me my age or
- 1:46:30I'll have to kill you Panda, James Gordon and James Cordon just as just
- 1:46:35a little reference that crotch. Yes, you best believe this is a him,
- 1:46:43like a Keanu Reeves carpool karaoke segment. No, I can see how
- 1:46:46you got that from the James Gorden. What are you doing right now?
- 1:46:49What has happened? From the Audrick Caldos. Yeah, go on, I'll
- 1:46:56keep the questioning tone in the ass. You best believe it's Dracula. It's
- 1:47:02not Dracula. Now, this one's a really tough one. I was looking
- 1:47:05for that painting from eighteen seventy five that looks like it's Keani Ready, that's
- 1:47:11me. Yeah, that's that's why that's where I was going with a movie.
- 1:47:15Yeah, it's a description. Yeah. The description at the top was
- 1:47:17piece of media. Oh yeah yet piece and it will will be an adaptation.
- 1:47:23Sorry, piece of media I've got for you. Okay, and quick
- 1:47:29before the buzzer. So in this project, I play a guy with a
- 1:47:31cyber chip. Those yes, the best believe it's Johnny Nemonic. This one
- 1:47:38is Johnny Nemonic. I was hoping. I was like, yeah, okay.
