- 0:05Welcome to another episode of Spider Sound Off.
- 0:09This is Tom. And this is Porter.
- 0:11Let's go back and pick up our conversation with Richmond
- 0:14Spiders women's basketball stars Addie Budnick and Katie Hill.
- 0:18So before we get to the big win in the postseason, I don't think
- 0:21we can go there without talking about the A10 tournament.
- 0:24You have the A10 tournament loss and then you have a week roughly
- 0:27until Selection Sunday. I guess.
- 0:29How did you guys feel after that loss?
- 0:31We were there watching it at at the right code Center and just
- 0:33remember Maggie getting run over on that last play.
- 0:37But versus debating the the Ravs, kind of what was the mood
- 0:41and kind of how did that next week go as you're waiting for,
- 0:45you know, whether you get an at large or not?
- 0:48The loss was devastating because obviously this being our final
- 0:53year and just what expectations and standards we held ourselves
- 0:58and the team to this year. Coming up short during short
- 1:01during the A 10 tournament was definitely not a good feeling
- 1:06and losing the way we did on a buzzer beater, it made it
- 1:10staying a little more than usual.
- 1:13But we actually got to go home for I think 2 days or some of us
- 1:18did. The people that were more local,
- 1:21Addie addie Addie's. Shaking her head no for the IT
- 1:23was a. Long week.
- 1:26Two days. So I think for some of us that
- 1:29was good just to get a break, try to come back with a fresh
- 1:35mind and a new mindset and try to put that game in the past and
- 1:39focus on the next step that we have, which was hopefully at the
- 1:43time getting an at large bids of the tournament.
- 1:45But it was devastating. We had to process what happened,
- 1:49but at the same time we couldn't let it hold us down and we had
- 1:53to move on and prepare and be ready and excited for whatever
- 1:58that next game was going to be. So, Addie, they all left you
- 2:02alone? Is that what I'm hearing?
- 2:05I mean, after the game, it was definitely confusing.
- 2:11I think you mentioned some of like the like, obviously they
- 2:14made a shot, but then they waved it off, but then they didn't.
- 2:17It was, it was just a confusing moment all around.
- 2:20Nobody really understood what was happening.
- 2:21But Long story short, we lost. That was obviously, like Katie
- 2:25said, devastating. And then some people went home.
- 2:28I was just hanging out here. And then and then the week kept
- 2:36going and then I think we came back to practice.
- 2:39You could tell that something was in the air in the sense
- 2:42where it was not a good practice, morale was low and
- 2:47we're not the kind of team to drag like that across the board.
- 2:52Mood was not great and we were told that it was not a good
- 2:56practice. But I think we had some tough
- 2:58conversations. I know I talked to coach a few
- 3:01times. Coach talked to captains Katie,
- 3:05Anna and IA few times as well. Just giving feedback on both
- 3:10ends. So I think that's part of the
- 3:12team. Part of the reason why we are so
- 3:14good was we are able to communicate and be honest with
- 3:16one another without like hurting someone's feelings.
- 3:20Like we understood that we had something to get done and you
- 3:23had to have tough conversations in order to get past that.
- 3:26So I think that helped a lot for me.
- 3:28I know I didn't want to get too caught up in the bracketology.
- 3:33Like I knew what we did and I had full faith that we should be
- 3:37playing. Our resume was incredible.
- 3:39The way we played, the way we carried ourself and made a name
- 3:43for Richmond throughout the year.
- 3:45I knew that we deserved to be in the tournament, but at the same
- 3:47time didn't want to get those expectations too high just to be
- 3:53disappointed on Selection Show. So coming in, just no
- 3:57expectations whatsoever. And I think that made the moment
- 4:00even more special. I think I couldn't stop smiling
- 4:03after they read our name and then after that, obviously we're
- 4:06playing UCLA theme music before practice.
- 4:10Everybody was happy and we knew that we had work to do and we
- 4:15had some of our best practices leading up to LA.
- 4:17I think it when I was watching the selection show, the ladies
- 4:21selection show, I think there was a second delay between the
- 4:25camera that was on you guys and when you heard that you had made
- 4:29the tournament. Because I think I remember like
- 4:31they flashed to Richmond and all of us saw that you guys have
- 4:34been had been given an at large. But you guys were sitting there
- 4:38stone faced. And I think the announcer might
- 4:41even said, man, Richmond does not look happy with their seed.
- 4:44I think. We had received them News yet?
- 4:47Yeah, yeah. And then all of a sudden they
- 4:48flashed back to you guys and you guys were all partying.
- 4:51So you realize it was just a delay and what we were watching
- 4:53so. But it was a pretty funny
- 4:54moment. The year prior, we waited so
- 4:56long to find out too, and then this year it was like the first
- 5:00one of the first ones. So I don't think anybody was
- 5:02expecting it. There's definitely a delay
- 5:05because as soon as we saw it we were going crazy.
- 5:07But yeah, it was definitely the complete opposite of what
- 5:10happened last year, which was. Now you have to remind me, what
- 5:12was that Selection Sunday event like?
- 5:14Was this a private team only or they had all the fans there just
- 5:19like the year before? Yep, it was public, they
- 5:22advertised it. I think they posted some stuff
- 5:24on social media so anybody was welcome.
- 5:26We actually had a good crowd as well.
- 5:28So that made it after what happened the week prior, being
- 5:31able to get an at large seed like for us, but also for the
- 5:35community as well made it even more special.
- 5:37Yeah, no, it's I'm glad they did that.
- 5:40I get obviously there's risk when you do that too, right?
- 5:42You would have could have been one of the awkward videos of not
- 5:46getting in, but it it was, you know, obviously awesome to do
- 5:49that. So now, you know, you're going
- 5:52to LA. You got Georgia Tech coming kind
- 5:55of what was that trip like getting out to to LA?
- 5:59Was that an exciting time for all of you?
- 6:01And like, what did you guys get to do to enjoy LA besides
- 6:06practice? We were all like just so
- 6:10excited. We were.
- 6:12We were just filled with joy and excitement on that flight to
- 6:15Lai. Think we touched down and
- 6:17somebody started playing. What song?
- 6:19Already in the USA, yeah. We're in the USA.
- 6:21We were singing, we were. It was just a great team
- 6:25environment. We definitely practice there,
- 6:29but we had time to go see stuff, explore.
- 6:32We went went to the pier. Santa Monica Pier.
- 6:36Santa Monica Pier one day we also did a bus tour of celebrity
- 6:41houses. So we were going through like
- 6:43the hills on this hot pink bus it.
- 6:46Was more the experience. I'll say that.
- 6:47It was really something special. We went from practice to the
- 6:50buses and I think we all were like starving and in a state of
- 6:54delusion. So they got us pizza when we got
- 6:56into the buses and we were just like handing them out throughout
- 6:59this Pink Balls was blasting like LA themed music as we went
- 7:03through and we were like going up the hills and seeing
- 7:07everything. So I don't, I can't really
- 7:08remember any celebrity houses, but I remember the experience.
- 7:12So that's all that bad. It's an.
- 7:14Experience I will never forget. That's awesome.
- 7:17So how much prep? I'm sure there was a lot, but
- 7:19kind of how was the Georgia Tech prep?
- 7:21Was that all in LA? Did you do some of it like the
- 7:25day after you heard who you were playing or like what was the
- 7:28preparation like and understanding that team and how
- 7:31they played? Yeah, obviously it was a quick
- 7:34turn around for the coaches as well.
- 7:36So they didn't know who we were playing until that Sunday night
- 7:39and then we ended up leaving that Tuesday.
- 7:42So the NCAA flew us out that Tuesday.
- 7:44So it was a quick turn around for them.
- 7:45So I think they had a day of just scout prep meetings and
- 7:49then in practice, usually what we do is we slowly talk about
- 7:52what they run. So I think as they were getting
- 7:54it, we started to defend their sets a little bit, think about
- 7:58what would work on our end against them.
- 8:01And then once we got there, we sat down, did a full scout like
- 8:04we usually do. And then obviously we had
- 8:06practice at UCLA. So we were able to go through
- 8:09all of that there as well. But they did a great job
- 8:12providing us with everything. They had that step down and I
- 8:15think we were all locked into everybody knew the scout, every
- 8:20page of it, so it was great. Well, I think the game showed
- 8:23that you were well prepared and the maybe you could call them
- 8:29potential distractions of going to the Santa Monica Pier or
- 8:32going on the tour. Like none of that really
- 8:35mattered like that. That game really wasn't close.
- 8:39I mean, it was, I think 7548 if I recall.
- 8:41And I mean, you know, there's so many great spider players from
- 8:45last year. But I think that that game
- 8:48Maggie announced herself on the national stage.
- 8:50I think she scored 30 and had maybe 15 or 16 rebounds.
- 8:53I, I think Richmond arrived as a major force in women's college
- 8:58basketball and you guys were a huge part in, in making that
- 9:04happen. The fact that you stayed
- 9:05committed to, to make seeing it through with the coaching staff
- 9:08and, and got that first in tubal a win.
- 9:11You can't understate just how those moments matter to fans.
- 9:17And I was watching it in Vegas and I just like, I was so
- 9:21excited. I mean, I couldn't, I couldn't
- 9:22just, I mean, what I was watching was a domination.
- 9:25And it just felt so good to see you guys rewarded for the
- 9:29efforts that you put in all season long.
- 9:30It just I felt so great that you guys had that moment.
- 9:34Thank you. So I, I, you know, the game was
- 9:36such a blow out and you, I think you were both on the sideline at
- 9:40the end of that game. So kind of what, what is that
- 9:42experience? Like?
- 9:43You're winning, you know, our, our, our school's first NCAA
- 9:48tournament game. You're, you're on the sidelines
- 9:51kind of, you know, with the starters kind of enjoying this,
- 9:54this big victory, kind of kind of try to put us back in that
- 9:58moment. Katie, maybe you can go first of
- 10:00like just what it felt like when like you knew you were going to
- 10:02win with probably 10 minutes left.
- 10:04But when that clock goes down to 0 and you know, it's it's done.
- 10:08Kind of what did that feel like? I mean, it's just surreal.
- 10:12It's what when you're growing up and you decide that you want to
- 10:15play college basketball, it's what you dream of.
- 10:18And it's like you said, it's what we signed up to do, to come
- 10:23to Richmond to do so just getting to experience that, it's
- 10:28hard to put into words, but it was just such a great
- 10:31experience. And it's a memory that I will
- 10:33hold on forever and I will tell to my family one day, but it's
- 10:37just it's hard to put into words.
- 10:39It was an amazing experience. Yeah, I think also everybody
- 10:45being able to get on the court and experience that as well was
- 10:48something special because a lot of times when playing the
- 10:51tournament, they're going to be super competitive games.
- 10:54Maybe everybody's not getting in the rotation, but to be able to
- 10:58clear the bench and have everybody get to play in an NCAA
- 11:01game and get to experience that from freshman up to grads, like
- 11:05that's also something special. Given that I think everybody,
- 11:08for the most part, their families were able to make it
- 11:11out to LA too. So having that moment with them
- 11:14as well was just amazing. That is awesome.
- 11:17That is awesome. Did you, so you have the win,
- 11:20Did you stay in the stands to watch the next game or did you
- 11:23guys, I mean, after going to the locker room, did you guys watch
- 11:27to see who you'd play next? So some of some of us actually
- 11:31had to go do cold tubs for some rehab since we're coming up on
- 11:35another game quickly. So some of us went and did that
- 11:39right after and then we came out and watched the second-half of
- 11:41the game just to get an idea of UCLA.
- 11:45Obviously we'd seen them play prior on TV, but just to watch
- 11:49them play in person, see their style of play and just get a
- 11:52better idea of what we were going up to up against in the
- 11:55next game. And and how was that obviously
- 11:59the prep there is even harder, right?
- 12:01You've got one day in between. There's only so much prep you
- 12:07can do when Laura Betts is is there at center.
- 12:11But did what was that game strategy like was just going to
- 12:14keep doing what you were doing from kind of offense and
- 12:18defense? And just, I mean, obviously you
- 12:19look back to that game, there was 1/4 where they kind of took
- 12:23off and three quarters where you guys were neck and neck with
- 12:26them. But what was the prep like?
- 12:28What? What did you what did you need
- 12:29to hear or how did the coaches try to prepare you for playing?
- 12:33What in a sense was. A home the number one team in
- 12:36the country. The number one team in the
- 12:37country on their on their homecourt.
- 12:39Yeah. I mean, I think there are some,
- 12:41obviously it's the number one team in the country.
- 12:43But the benefit to that is that I think all of us had seen them
- 12:46play and we're familiar with all their starters.
- 12:49So we kind of knew who they were and what they like to do going
- 12:54into it. So memorizing the actual scout
- 12:56wasn't too difficult. And honestly, they ran similar
- 12:59stuff to us. So that made the prep and
- 13:03understanding what how we had to defend them easier.
- 13:06Obviously they had size, which made it a bit difficult, but
- 13:11they had already prepped the scout before we even left
- 13:13Richmond. So each coach gets assigned a
- 13:16scout and obviously there's that uncertainty and putting in the
- 13:19work to something that might not happen if we don't win.
- 13:21But they were prepared. They had the scouts printed out
- 13:24ready to go, Obviously made some adjustments, but no, it honestly
- 13:30wasn't too bad. We had a day, there were two
- 13:34days in between. I I don't remember, but no.
- 13:38We were. Prepared and understood that we
- 13:41just needed to contained. We knew what bets was going to
- 13:45do. We knew that she was going to
- 13:46get rebound, she was going to finish over us.
- 13:48Like we just don't have the size to match up against that.
- 13:51That's a tough match up, but we gave it our all.
- 13:54We tried doubling. It was more just being able to
- 13:56contain everyone else as well. But obviously that fell apart a
- 14:00little bit in the third quarter. But being able to prove that we
- 14:03can compete with the number one team on their homecourt in the
- 14:07requirement that they play in was awesome and I think it did
- 14:12put Richmond on the map and put us in national spot.
- 14:15And, and Addie for the now for this is for the casual fan that
- 14:19might not be as familiar with the women's program.
- 14:22Folks might not know. Addie is our was our center on
- 14:25that team. She was our five.
- 14:26You're 6 foot two. You're you're guarding A6 foot
- 14:307. Lauren Betts, who's widely
- 14:32considered the best player in the country, just, I mean, just
- 14:36give the, the casual listener a sense of just how strong
- 14:39somebody like that is. Like what you have to do.
- 14:41Do you have any tricks to like, you know, is there anything you
- 14:43have it up your sleeve that you could give you, you know, any
- 14:46chance in there 'cause that that's just a brutal matchup for
- 14:48anybody. Yeah, you know, I needed some
- 14:50tips and tricks when I was in there, but just size wise, like
- 14:54I mean, I knew what, I knew our defensive principles, I knew I
- 14:57needed to box out. But to a certain point, you can
- 15:00only push someone back so far. Bumps so high to be able to get
- 15:05the rebounds. At times it worked out.
- 15:08But I mean, full transparency, there was a time out where coach
- 15:12came up to me and was like, what do you think we should do 'cause
- 15:14it was not, it was not going well.
- 15:16And I was like, I don't know. I mean, she's an All American,
- 15:20A6768 All American for a reason. She's an incredible player.
- 15:26I think that we did a decent job containing her at the beginning,
- 15:29but then obviously it's that's just a tough match up for us.
- 15:32So tough and I well. Addie, you are.
- 15:34You are. Go ahead, Katie.
- 15:36Sorry, I just want to say I think Addie had a very, very
- 15:39tough match up that game and she had a big task and I think she
- 15:43fought really well. And our job was to go in there
- 15:46and try to help her as much as possible on those box outs and
- 15:50when she got the ball. And I think Addie did a great
- 15:54job guarding in there. We tried to help her out as much
- 15:56as we could, but at the end of the day in the third quarter, it
- 16:00took a toll on us. I will say, Addie, you're a, you
- 16:03are a much better three-point shooter than Lauren Bass.
- 16:11So maybe just kind of wrap up the game part.
- 16:13So you had that really tough third quarter and kind of games
- 16:17over how how are you able to kind of recognize like what a
- 16:23great season you had? You, you know, had that first
- 16:26big win. You're kind of after a loss.
- 16:28Like how long does it take for you to say like that?
- 16:30OK, we lost. That's OK.
- 16:31You know, we are at, you know, since at UCLA loss of the best
- 16:35team in the country. Let's not kind of, you know,
- 16:37hold that too long kind of mentally.
- 16:39What, what is that like Katie, maybe you could tell us kind of
- 16:42if you can remember back, like how do you turn your, your head
- 16:45to like, Hey, this, this was a great year.
- 16:48I think going into that game, we we knew we had a chance to win,
- 16:53but we all had the mindset that what we've done to get to that
- 16:58point of playing UCLA was an awesome path and a great
- 17:02experience for all of us. And just trying to keep that in
- 17:06mind. I know we got subbed out before
- 17:09the game was over and I know when I was getting the sub from
- 17:13the sideline, I had a flood of emotions at me.
- 17:18It was a lot to take in because not only was that a tough loss,
- 17:22but for Addie and I, it was the end to our basketball careers,
- 17:27which is a tough thing to process.
- 17:30And I think I'm still processing it now.
- 17:33But I think just recognizing everything else that we had
- 17:39accomplished and done that season and in our careers and
- 17:42keeping that in mind and just being happy for all of that
- 17:46versus dwelling on the fact that we just lost that game, but
- 17:50acknowledging everything that we did to get to that point.
- 17:54Yeah, I mean, everything that Katie said, obviously there was
- 17:57a different sense of emotion for us and feeling because it was
- 18:01the last time we were ever walking off the court, taking
- 18:03off our basketball shoes. So.
- 18:06But I think there's just so much pride in what we did both this
- 18:10year, but then also over our time at Richmond, where once you
- 18:15sit down and I don't think it necessarily hits when you're
- 18:18sitting there, obviously there's a level of disappointment given
- 18:20that we were in the game at halftime and then it slipped
- 18:23away from us. But once you leave that gym, I
- 18:28think when we were there, obviously there were tears.
- 18:30It was a sad locker room. But then once we kind of all
- 18:35understood the gravity of what we did and how we put Richmond
- 18:38on a map and in the women's basketball world, there was a
- 18:44bucket of in and out waiting for us.
- 18:46We all kind of sat together. Some people still crying.
- 18:49I think I was, it didn't hit me until after post game.
- 18:54I think Maggie got me in the post game.
- 18:57But just being able to all sit together and talk about our
- 19:02experience and understand that what we did that year was
- 19:06extremely special and this was kind of our last moment
- 19:09together. And I think when we got back to
- 19:11the hotel, a lot of us stayed up pretty late just because we
- 19:15didn't want it to end. We knew how much we meant to one
- 19:19another. And I think a lot of us sat in
- 19:21the lobby and just avoided going upstairs, like taking the
- 19:25backpack off and everything So, but just pride.
- 19:30Mike's Crocky, who was a guest on our previous episodes,
- 19:33described, you know, when he goes into the Robinson or he
- 19:38looks up and he sees their NCAA banner and he just feels kind of
- 19:42a warmth because that's his, his teammates banner.
- 19:46They brought that to the university as their contribution
- 19:49to the university and that nobody can ever take that away.
- 19:52He talked about the coach his his, his desire to get a banner
- 19:56and, and, and Scrocky didn't appreciate it while he was a
- 19:59student, but now he's about 20 years ahead of you guys in life
- 20:03on an age basis. He, he loves the fact that he
- 20:05can walk into the Robin Center and that's his like he, he and
- 20:09his teammates did that. And so I would imagine at some
- 20:12point in time, we're going to have both of you guys in the
- 20:15Robin Center and you're going to look up and you're going to see
- 20:17that. And that's that's your gift to
- 20:19Richmond. Yeah, no, for sure.
- 20:22I mean, I think going through time before we even were close
- 20:26level wise to playing in the NCAA Tournament, he would always
- 20:30coach, would always talk about like point to the rafters and be
- 20:33like we want a banner like this practice can't happen or we need
- 20:37to do this. It was always there and talked
- 20:40about and the fact that we got to make a permanent mark on the
- 20:44Robin Center and have pride to know that we contributed to that
- 20:49and that was a team that we are a part of is definitely a really
- 20:52cool feeling. Yeah, I think our team is always
- 20:57going to have that banner and these memories and experiences
- 21:00to share, and that's something I'll be grateful for for always.
- 21:06That's awesome. Yeah, maybe just taking a step
- 21:08back, I mean, looking over your career, kind of what what did
- 21:11you learn at University of Richmond?
- 21:13It's a very broad statement, but if you look think back to
- 21:16yourself as a senior in high school and now you're kind of
- 21:19graduated and kind of out out out post college kind of what
- 21:23what are the main lessons you have from your your journey?
- 21:27Katie, maybe you can. Go first, OK, I mean, this is a
- 21:35very cliche one, but just enjoy it while it lasts.
- 21:38Is 1 because I'm sitting here now done playing and I would do
- 21:43anything to be able to go back and play another year.
- 21:46Like I love basketball. Those were some of the best
- 21:49experiences and memories of my life.
- 21:52So it goes fast and enjoy it while it does.
- 21:55But also I think being a college athlete can be very time
- 22:00consuming and it can be a lot at times.
- 22:02So just making sure that you can step away from basketball when
- 22:08you leave the court at times and that it doesn't consume your
- 22:12whole life. Because like we said, we we've
- 22:16lost. We've had some seasons where we
- 22:19weren't winning as much. It can be a lot, so just make
- 22:23sure that you find a good balance between life and
- 22:27basketball, but also enjoy the basketball because it's going to
- 22:30come to an end at some point. Yeah, obviously second
- 22:35everything, Katie said. But but also just the school,
- 22:40University of Richmond and athletics, like it just gives
- 22:43you a different level of confidence.
- 22:45I mean, in the classroom as a person on the court.
- 22:48I know for me personally, like I came in and I was definitely
- 22:51more quiet. I had conversations where I was
- 22:53like, why aren't you speaking in meetings?
- 22:55Why aren't you doing this? I was just a nervous freshman.
- 22:58But just being more confident in yourself.
- 23:02Obviously there's the academic piece of going through the
- 23:05Business School, like better understanding the world and all
- 23:08of that. But then also going through the
- 23:10athletics piece of OK, you're step, you're getting older,
- 23:13you're stepping up into a leadership role, like how can
- 23:15you help the younger kids? Obviously talking with the
- 23:18community, talking with donors, like doing media, having to
- 23:23carry yourself in a certain way. So just having that confidence
- 23:28and ability to speak and grow into who you are, both as an
- 23:33athlete and a person was definitely something I'll
- 23:35forever be grateful for the school University of Richmond
- 23:38for giving me. Awesome.
- 23:41Yeah, that's great. OK, thought to kind of end this
- 23:44on a fun note. I have some superlatives and I'm
- 23:49going to ask you and we'll go one to the other.
- 23:51You can each answer one who looking at your team last year,
- 23:55kind of who fits this superlative.
- 23:57OK and you're allowed to repeat. You can just pick on each other
- 24:00as well. But I'll go through these and
- 24:04Katie will start with you. Best locker room DJ.
- 24:07I'm a terrible person to ask this question too.
- 24:11OK, Addie, who's the best lock? Who?
- 24:13Who controls the music? In the locker room or who?
- 24:15Is that addie? Actually, because Addie and I
- 24:17like the same music but nobody else would agree with.
- 24:20That, well, we're definitely 2, two people that probably
- 24:24shouldn't be asked OX questions as we're not usually allowed on
- 24:27the OX. But Maggie would usually have
- 24:30Maggie or Jada would both be on aux.
- 24:33There'd be good days and bad days, but for the most part,
- 24:35those were the those were the two team DJs.
- 24:38For us, what is the music you 2 like that no one else likes?
- 24:41Country. OK, gotcha.
- 24:43Yeah. And yeah, I.
- 24:46We're not. Fans of rap music.
- 24:47So a lot of times that would the DJ would be playing rap music.
- 24:52We weren't. OK.
- 24:54Second one, Addie, I'll start with you, most likely to nap
- 24:57anywhere. Maggie, Maggie, Maggie would
- 25:00fall asleep with him. Should we would be driving to
- 25:02the game. It would be a 5 minute bus ride
- 25:04from like Saint Bonaventure. We would stay across the street.
- 25:07We'd be driving to the game. Should be asleep for two
- 25:09minutes, knocked out. It was the most impressive thing
- 25:13I've ever seen. OK, Katie, who's the funniest
- 25:15teammate? Oh gosh.
- 25:20Anyone. I don't like getting fell on the
- 25:22spot like this. Who made you laugh?
- 25:29Jada. Jada.
- 25:31Jada. Yes, Addie is right, Jada.
- 25:34OK. OK.
- 25:35Another one, Addie, I'll start with you.
- 25:37Most likely to forget something on road trips.
- 25:41Maggie, Maggie this role left her shoot.
- 25:45We went to we were playing at Davidson and I remember we were
- 25:47going I was about to get in the elevator and Maggie called me
- 25:50like 3 times and I'm like what is going on?
- 25:52So I answered she's like Addie, I'm like what?
- 25:55She's like, I forgot my shoes and and she ended up going to
- 26:03the store and buying shoes, but she's winning all these
- 26:07superlatives awards those. Were two easy ones.
- 26:10You got Addie. OK, Kate, I'll go to you.
- 26:13Who's the best sideline celebrator?
- 26:15Who is the best cheerer on the sidelines?
- 26:18Jada. These two are just taking them
- 26:22all Jada. 'S lasso was just unpatched.
- 26:27The. Lasso Celebration For our play
- 26:30Lasso, she has celebration. It was.
- 26:34That's awesome. OK, Addie, the most intense
- 26:36competitor even in practice. And you can't say yourself
- 26:42because. Yeah.
- 26:44Because I you know, you might be that you might have won that
- 26:47one, but still. No, honestly, it could be Katie.
- 26:52Or. But Katie's a good one.
- 26:56That's like, that's a perfect, that's a perfect answer.
- 26:58Yeah. Katie.
- 26:59Yeah. The defensive intensity, that
- 27:00was hard to match. Everybody, everybody plays hard,
- 27:02everybody competes. So that's a, that's definitely a
- 27:05tough one. I'll I'll give Katie's here.
- 27:06I'll give it. To him thanks.
- 27:08OK, Katie, best dressed off the court.
- 27:11You love these, don't you? OK, Addie, who's who's got who
- 27:19has the best fashion sense on the on the team last year?
- 27:23We're. Usually all in sweatpants and
- 27:25our team gear. You know what?
- 27:28I'll. I'll bring Anna into this.
- 27:30Anna. Anna always had a Yeah.
- 27:32Anna Camden. She always had solid outfits, no
- 27:35matter what the occasion was. Give it to her.
- 27:38OK, Katie, I think this might be an easier one most likely to end
- 27:41up as a coach. I know Maggie wants to be a
- 27:47coach. So, Maggie.
- 27:50Addie any different answer for you?
- 27:52No, I was. I was going to say Maggie.
- 27:55She she's that's her. That's her.
- 27:59OK. Two more we're almost done.
- 28:00Katie. Hidden talent award.
- 28:03Anyone on the team have a talent outside of basketball?
- 28:06That would be surprising for the general fan.
- 28:13Do you 2 have any hidden hidden talents?
- 28:16Not that I know of. Any great singers for instance?
- 28:23People like to think so. None that I've heard.
- 28:28OK. OK, we'll go to the last one and
- 28:30I'm going to Kay. I'll put you on the spot on this
- 28:32one. Biggest team mom?
- 28:37Addie. That's why I wanted to ask you.
- 28:40I could tell when Maggie's calling Addie about her shoes.
- 28:44It's, that's an, that's an, that's an important role.
- 28:47Well, anyway, thank you very much for joining us today.
- 28:51This has been an awesome conversation.
- 28:53Appreciate all the time and, and, and most importantly,

- 29:04It was awesome what you were able to accomplish and and the
- 29:08trajectory that the program has now because of what you did over
- 29:13your time at Richmond. And I'll, and I'll just add,
- 29:14like, I mean, each of you guys have have made just an
- 29:18incredible mark on, on Richmond's community, Richmond
- 29:21women's basketball. There's a lot of decorated

- 29:42tournament game. So, yeah, as Tyatt reiterate
- 29:45what Tom said, as fans of basketball, like I was just
- 29:49we're just so grateful that you 2 decided to come to Richmond
- 29:54and you decided to stay at Richmond and finish your careers
- 29:56here. And you guys will have that for
- 29:58the rest of your lives. As Katie said, really, really
- 30:00well. I mean, you guys, you guys have
- 30:02the reflection of knowing that you have accomplished something
- 30:05great and you can build off that for the rest of your life.
